Introduction
As I review my semester in Advanced Psychological Foundations of Education, I m aware of all
the tools I have collected over the past few months. Learning strategics, such as: social
constructivism, emotional competence and myths about dual language learners will now become
part of my planning resources as I prepare lesson plans for my students. During our three face to
face sessions, there were three topics that spoke to me as an teacher the most: classroom community
agreements, moral behavior and culture in the classroom. I would like to discuss how these themes
have enhance teaching and learning skills for my students and myself as an lifetime learner.
Classroom community agreements
Professional and personally, I will usually partake in an idea when, a theme states, agreement in
the title. I ve always appreciate ways of bring my students and I to a united front. The classroom
community agreement provided open communication, and is co created by the whole group to
make something easier for everyone (J.Hart, personal communication, August 29, 2015). In my
preschool class this year, I was able to use classroom community agreement tool on our first day,
September 1st, 2015. Just like our face to face meeting, I used this tool to establish our guild

In the article The Calm Before the Storm? Burnout and Compassion Fatigue Among
Undergraduate Nursing Students by Barret Michalec, Cynthia Dienfenbeck and Margaret
Mahoney, the researchers conducted a study to understand the experiences of undergraduate nurses
and their reasons for burn out (2013). The study took place at The University of Deleware
School of Nursing. The study had 436 BSN students which included 123 freshmen, 98 sophomores,
97 juniors, and 118 seniors. The racial breakdown of the subjects were 85% white,
5% were black, 3% were Latina. The study was mostly made up of females at 93%. The
Professional Quality of Life scale was used for the students to rate their compassion fatigue ,
PTSD and burnout levels. It was concluded that the students reported average levels of burnout and
compassion fatigue. Although there was not a significant result in their burnout it suggests the
question to further research why nurses, later on, report higher levels of PTSD and burnout
(Michalec, et.al, 2013)

and Tyler M. Miller, two researchers from Texas A M University. In order to better understand

For the task success condition, participants were given a package containing 30 sets of five
scrambled words. Next, they were instructed to arrange the word to rearrange the words to form a
grammatically correct four word sentence. Participants in this condition had an unlimited amount of
time to complete the task. In contrast, the task failure condition had 10 seconds to complete the
task. This was half the time that it took participants in the task success condition to arrange a
sentence. Moreover, the control group did not receive this task to complete. After this task, all
participants completed a memory experiment. For the experiment, the participants were given a list
of 30 words. They had 2 minutes to evaluate this list after which they had to write down as many
words as they could remember. For the results, the researchers found that there was a statistically
significant difference between the groups. Specifically, older adults in the task success group had
better recall than the control and task failure groups. Additionally, the older adults who experienced
prior task failure did not have worse memory recall than the control group. Although these results
posed true for the older adults, they did not extend to the younger adults. In regards to these results,
