Fort Build Research Paper
How many times did it ring in your ears as a child?
Sit still!
It holds true through the generations. Wiggles and giggles accompany childhood. Seemingly bitten by
the energy bug and filled with natural curiosity, kids bounce from one thought to another, one activity
to the next. And, the whirlwind makes many an adult dizzy.
So, other than wearing out parents witnessing all this wiggling, what is all the fuss about and focus on,
well, on focus? And, what role do forts play in developing this skill?
IS FOCUS JUST HOCUS POCUS?
The development and discipline of focus extend into adulthood. Staving off distractions in school, at
work, even at home proves important to learning and goal achievement. After all, even children need
to focus on a task and stick with it long enough to see it accomplished. ... Show more content on

Or, working diligently to complete a task? Enraptured by a video game? The skill of focus, tuning out
distractions, is at work.
Forts offer opportunities to engage kids in their passion and increase focus:
Fort building alone proves a strong draw to a child s attention span.
The process of planning a fort design develops focus.
Following fort plans keeps projects and kids concentration on track.
Working together in constructing helps children learn to work amid distractions.
Fort building lends itself to be broken into smaller chunks as needed to hold attention.
Pursuing a loved building project helps kids set goals and follow through on them.
Passion engages kids even to the level of problem solving which requires focusing skills.
Let your kids choose the fort design that fits their passion or whim of the day to keep them engaged
and developing focus skills. After all, don t we all focus and concentrate better when the matter at
hand interests us? And, these skills flow into other learning areas as well.

How Does Theodor Seuss Geisel s Life Influence His Work
Theodor Seuss Geisel s personal life that influenced his work
Theodor Seuss Geisel is best known around the world under the pseudonym Dr. Seuss for writing
phenomenal children s books, which taught children how to read and imagine the world in a different
way. Geisel wanted children to build a critical life skill by most importantly learning how to read. He
is an American icon because his work represents children s literature, cartoon surrealism, and
nonsense poetry. Geisel s personal life influenced his work by the way he was raised as a child, his
education, and marriages that motivated him to become one of the most popular children s author s
during the twentieth century.

They had classes together as Geisel would draw cartoons when he become bored during class he
caught Palmer s attention, and suggested that he should draw instead. She played the role in his adult
life that would resemble his mother throughout his childhood. Sadly, Palmer was diagnosed with
cancer and as her symptoms worsened, she couldn t have the same relationship with Geisel. Sshe
became depressed about him having an affair with her best friend named Audrey Stone Diamond. For
this reason, on October 23, 1967, the Geisel s housekeeper Alberta Shaw arrived at the tower to find
that Helen had committed suicide (Pease 131). Since Geisel had fallen in love with Audrey, he later
married her after his wife had committed suicide. Geisel had no children of his own, yet he was a
stepfather to Audrey s daughters, Lea and Lark. Together they held a role as a loving family.
Unfortunately, on September 24 1991, Dr. Seuss died of cancer at the age of 87 in his home in La

Gender Roles In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
The fourteenth century was not known for unconventional writing. Moreover, the first attempts at
reform were occurring, causing assimilation and not much thought on sexism or the era s prevalent
misogyny. Yet, writers whether deliberately or unintentionally included gender roles in their text, as
they play a considerable role in all aspects of society. Gender roles are apparent in both the Pearl Poet
and Geoffrey Chaucer s stories. However, the Pearl Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight fable
furthers the sexist patriarchy, while Chaucer s The Miller s Tale actively dismantles conventional
female roles. Both tale s descriptions of females, comments from the male protagonists, and the
character development of each story s most prominent female character demonstrate the contrasting
views in these texts.
When examining Middle Age texts through their gender roles, one must first consider the descriptive
words used to depict the story s males and females. The Pearl Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
draws upon the era s traditional concepts of male and female roles. This is exemplified when the fable
opens with tales of brave mythological heroes such as world controlling Romulus and Aeneas, who
represent the Middle Age s idealized male roles of strength and superiority. In contrast, the first female
is described through her clothes and delicate external beauty, objectifying and fetishizing her: Queen
Guenevere gaily dressed and placed in the middle, seated on the upper

Descriptive Speech About Cheer
Why would I fear what was so familiar, so natural to now be so peculiar? I have always cheered, since
I could remember. When I first began it felt so easy tome. I learned quickly and advanced faster than
the others. Cheer became a hobby something I looked forward too. I never thought about coaching but
could I really? On Monday August 28, 2017 two very big things happened in my life. I started my first
day of highschool and also did something that would impact me for the rest of my life. Around five
forty five p.m I began to get ready. For what, you may ask. Today was my first day of coaching cheer.
Cheer is very important to me, I hold it very close to my heart. Cheering is something that I have
always done. It was the first thing that I felt like was meant for me. My stomach has a thousand
butterflies in it. Flapping their wings so fast as if they were trying to get to a beautiful, sweet flower. I
had no idea why I felt this way. Why was I nervous?
I am a great cheerleader, you got this girl I coached myself confidently. On the inside I was everything
but confident. I felt cowardly, I didn t want to coach anymore. Was I being fearful of a group of three
to twelve year olds?
Wow what have you come to? I disappointedly said to myself with a twisted face of confusion.
It is not that hard Amaiya, just go out there confidently and show them what you got. I assured myself.
I then took a deep breath and finished getting ready. I walked downstairs slowly plaguing my

*The Abandoned Spanish building, Spain: The beginning of the story starts here, at an old building,
where Santiago rests with his flock. Just like any character Santiago s somewhat inexperienced at first
and he hasn t gained the wisdom, experience that he gains by the end of the book. This location s
significance is to be the beginning of his journey that nudges him to look into his dream further.
*Town of Tarifa: Santiago comes to this town with his flock to visit a dream interpreter, a gypsy
woman. Gypsies are people who represent a kind of spirituality which occurs throughout Santiago s
journey. The gypsy interprets his dreams so he may start his adventure. The most important event that
occurred at this location was when he met King Melchizedek. The old King tells him about omens and
validates the existence of his treasure. If the king had not appeared and told him about omens,
Santiago might have missed the signs given to him and would ve passed them off as nothing special.
The king teaches him here to appreciate and pay attention to little things in life. *The Bar, City
Tangier,North Africa: When Santiago comes to Egypt and enters a bar, and meets the thief who took

CONCLUSION BRIEF INTRODUCTION In the history of the world, many remarkable periods have
been referred to most often due to perhaps great events that have led to a turn around in the thoughts
and general lives of the people. One of such periods is the renaissance humanism. The renaissance
humanism is a term used to designate a period in history that is so spectacular and significant owing to
its evolutionary of features. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We could then say that what prepared the ground for the renaissance humanism was mainly from the
church and the fruits of the renaissance period which led to the reformation fell back to the church
also. Therefore, we could say that the renaissance humanism started when the literary world and the
world of arts was so charged. At the same time the church was leading but her great strides were
infiltrated or became mixed with pagan/ Greek values that were seemingly unacceptable. Thus, the
European world saw the reason to question the church s consistency in the religious matters and the
absolute attribute of things to God or religion. THE CHAMPIONS OF RENAISSANCE
HUMANISM The earliest humanists were Dante Della Mirandola, Lorenzo Valla and Coluccio
Salutati. But after the fall of Constantinople in 1453, many scholars went to Italy to research and go
acquainted with many books together with the knowledge of the Greek traditional arts. In the northern
Europe we fin people like Desiderius Erasmus who came up with the praise of the folly (1509). This
depicts the moral essence of humanism. He preferred heartfelt goodness to formalistic piety. We could
also recall that the founder of the renaissance painting was Masaccio (1401 14280). Boccaccio (1313
1375 wrote the first sexual literature since the Late Latin writers. Nicholas Machiavelli (1469 1527)
really mocked honesty and integrity in politics in his writings as it is farfetched. However,

Undocumented Workers in the United States do not Take Away...
Have you ever stopped to think how much you would do for your family? You should think about
what Immigrants do for their family. Immigrants cross the border everyday. Americans think that they
just walk over , no big deal. You never hear the real story; you never hear how they are treated. Once
they actually get across, they get to live like they deserve, lavishly, right? That s far from the truth.
They cross the border and get low paying jobs (usually 2 dollars an hour) and that s still better then
what they would receive in their homeland. Isn t that something? Some Americans say that
Immigrants are taking away jobs. What American would be willing to work for 2 dollars an hour as a

makes a sound like that of a coming storm. The water is dirty and thick and stained gray, like the color

immigrants make it safely across but that s not always the case. In USA Today Newspaper, headline
reads Mexico captures 12 suspects linked to deadly migrant smuggling. Apparently, 19 illegal
migrants were killed due to being succumbed to the heat after being locked inside an 18 wheeler s
airless trailer. You can find statistics that state hundreds of illegal migrants that die a year. They never
have a chance to get a job or return to their family.
Contrary to what Americans believe, immigrants are not taking jobs away from Americans. In
Immigration News: New Study Declares Immigration to be a Plus, it states that Immigration benefits
the American economy and overall and has little negative effect on the income and job opportunities
of most native born U.S. citizens. When you look at shops or restaurants in California, Texas, or New
York, who do you notice that s running most of those shops and restaurants? Immigrants, whether they
re Mexican, Asian, or Natives. Instead of taking away jobs, they create jobs by opening businesses.

Posterior Tibial Slope
Introduction: Average Posterior Tibial Slope (PTS) in Indian patients is found to be higher than the
Caucasian population . The mechanical axis in the arthritis patients is shifted further posteriorly as
shown by increased Posterior tibial slope in arthritic patients. Post operative PTS after total knee
arthroplasty has been implicated to affect the incidence of complications like aseptic loosening , knee
joint subluxation, tibial dehiscence , coronal plane joint instability etc. Most surgeons In North India
desire a Post op Posterior tibial slope within the range of 0 7 degrees. Metaphysio diaphysio angle is at
present not included in pre operative planning of Total knee replacement surgeries.
Objectives: a) To find the mean Posterior tibial ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pre operative Posterior tibial slope (preop PTS), Metaphysio diaphyseal angle (MDA) , and Post
operative Posterior Tibial Slope (postop PTS) were recorded. Data was analyzed using Pearson
correlation coefficient.
Results: The mean Pre op PTS was 18.4 degrees with standard deviation of 5.6 degrees. The mean
MDA was 19.7 degrees with standard deviation of 4.9 degrees. The mean Post op PTS was 10.2
degrees with standard deviation of 6.6 degrees. There is strong correlation between Pre op PTS and
MDA with pearson co efficient of 0.79 . Also there is moderate correlation between ratio of Post op
and pre op PTS and MDA (pearson co efficient of 0.62).
Conclusions: The knees with higher pre op PTS tend to have higher MDA and vice versa. Although
most surgeons are able to achieve the desired PTS at the higher extreme of the widely accepted range
of 0 7 degrees , patients with MDA above 19 degree tend to have post op PTS significantly higher
than the desired range making them vulnerable to complications. Hence , necessary modifications
(like pre operative templating, intra operative extramedullary zig angle setting, using intra medullary
zigs etc ) shall be done in the current protocols to achieve desired PTS in patients with knees having
MDA in the higher

War With Mexico Justified
Fighting for their lives the American and Mexican armies battle for the west side of present day
United States. Mexico had claimed Texas, Nevada, and California. The Oregon Territory wasn t really

1836, Mexico attacked the U.S. first, and Mexico had treated Texas badly before Texas was

Analysis of the Movie Analyze This
Abstract: Film can be a very useful catalyst in teaching how not to treat patients. In Analyze This and
Analyze That, we see very extensive examples of this throughout the film. Through farce and
lampoon, we see the in this disjunctive way what proper CBT, criminal therapy and combating
recidivism is all about. Introduction In this short essay, the author will write an ethics paper analyzing
the movie Analyze This from an ethical perspective in a social science setting. It will be answered
from the perspective of a psychological and counseling professional who has to balance off the real
and potential conflicts at individual, professional and societal levels as portrayed in the film. As such,
we will identify specific laws and ethics codes that have been violated. The author will discuss the
case as if they are consulting with or supervising Ben Sobel in the film who they believe is behaving
unethically or unlawfully. They will state clearly what he is doing unethically or unlawfully with a
supportive historical background. They will then provide the possible steps for managing and
correcting the situation. The entire film is a therapist s behavior that revolvess around these issues;
Confidentiality, Privileged Communication, Privacy, Informed consent, and Receiving gifts, and a

Under the leadership of Lee Iacocca and with the support of federal loan guarantees, Chrysler
managed to turn itself around one more time, returning to profitability in 1982. While the late 1980s
proved tough for the industry as a whole, the introduction and meteoric rise of the family minivan (a
market controlled 47% by Chrysler as of 1996), coupled with the 1987 acquisition and subsequent
exploitation of the Jeep brand name, left Chrysler the envy of the U.S. auto market by the mid 1990s.
As Fortune magazine stated in late 1996, If a vehicle is in demand and generates high profit margins,
you can bet Chrysler s making it. 4 While Chrysler s success and relatively conservative management
style attracted praise from industry observers, it also attracted the attention of Las Vegas billionaire
Kirk Kerkorian, who with the help of retired Lee Iacocca, mounted a hostile bid for Chrysler in 1995.
The (U.S. dollar) $55 per share ($27.50 today following a 2 for 1 stock split in 1996) not only failed to
win the approval of Chrysler s board, but also turned out to be largely unfinanced, leaving Chrysler to
continue under its current management. Chrysler products Chrysler focused heavily on trucks in its
product offering. In 1997, trucks, including minivans, accounted for about two thirds of Chrysler s
vehicle sales in the United States and cars accounted for about one third. Chrysler s trucks

Compare Mussolini And Hitler s Rise To Power
Mussolini and Hitler both exploited the fragile democratic systems put in place after the First World
War to gain power. While their methods were mostly legal, they also used fear and violence to secure
absolute authority. For many European countries, democracy was not a well practiced tradition.
Leaders like Mussolini and Hitler, took advantage of legal loopholes in weak democracies to create
their dictatorships. After WWI, Italy introduced proportional representation to its constitutional
monarchy. This gave minor parties, like Mussolini s Italian Fasci of Combat the opportunity to gain
seats in the Chamber of Deputies. Despite only having 0.4% of the votes, Mussolini was able to form
a coalition with other parties in the 1921 general election. Similarly, in the 1928 German federal
election, the Nazi party won 12 seats from a measly 2.6% of the vote. Although they did not hold
much power, their political ideologies were legitimized by their positions in their governments. ...

For Mussolini, this was the Acerbo Law (1923), an electoral reform that guaranteed a ⅔ majority to
whichever party won the most votes. The next year, the National Fascist Party won a majority
government with 60% of the vote. This would be the last competitive election in Italy until 1946.
Germany saw similar circumstances; the Enabling Act (March 9th, 1933), a constitutional amendment,
gave the German cabinet (controlled by Hitler) the power to enact laws without the involvement of the
Reichstag. It was passed in both the Reichstag and the Reichsrat and was signed by President Paul von
Hindenburg later that day. These laws gave Mussolini and Hitler complete and absolute power through

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you,

my Professor this week of one of my favorite verses from the book of Isaiah. Interestingly enough,
before I began my venture into higher education, I was scared: scared of failure, scared of the
commitment it would require, and even scared of the possibility that I just might not be cut out for the
task ahead. This verse, Isaiah 41:10, along with several other Scriptures, helped to assure me that ...

Just as 1 Corinthians 13:11 reminds us, When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child,
I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things, even my style of learning
has changed. Until this semester, I would say that of course I had the characteristics to be a successful
online student; how hard could it be? But, ironically, during the same week that I first read Taormino s
article, I began to fall behind in my classes. As I write this paper, I m juggling extra duties at home
while my wife and I both recover from a nasty car accident. Fortunately neither of us were seriously
hurt, but because my wife already suffers from a chronic autoimmune disease, even her minor injuries
were enough to throw her into a painful exacerbation. What does this have to do with my online
education? Well, everything, to be honest. All of the time I normally had set aside for my coursework
must now be devoted to the daily management of our home (things that my wife usually takes care of).
It s astonishing how quickly time gets away from us! I ve learned through this series of unfortunate
events that I must take control of my time, rather than allowing it to take control of me. As Taormino
asserts, Students need to plan their time accordingly to have sufficient opportunity to complete
assignments and work iteratively based on feedback. Without time

The Cause Of Nathaniel Bacon s Rebellion
Nathaniel Bacon and his men, comprised of indentured servants, black slaves, and frontiersmen, ran
through the streets of Jamestown, plundering the plantation homes of gentry and eventually burning
Jamestown to the ground. This group was a testament to the rebellious potential of the plantation labor
force, namely indentured servants. Plantation owners had grown wary of indentured servants and due
to the hard labor, few free workers were willing to work on plantations, leaving no viable labor source
for the gentry to generate wealth. Over time, as slaves from Africa gradually replaced indentured
servants, the upper class instituted discriminatory laws prevent slaves from uprising. Thus, the upper
class did not intentionally propagate prejudice ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earlier in the century, the legal difference between a slave and a servant was unclear. But now the law
began to make sharp distinctions between the two largely on the basis of race... This quote clearly
shows a shift in the legal definition of a slave to specifically the black race, making the black race
synonymous with slavery and inferiority. Although unintentional on part of the upper class, these laws
enculturated racism into colonial life, creating a class rift between whites and blacks. However, the
incorporation of prejudice and racism developed only after the slave trade was established. Racism
was not a prevalent social norm before American slavery. It was the potential combination of poor
whites and blacks that caused the most fear. If there had been the natural racial repugnance...control
would have been easier. This quote shows the low bar of prejudice in the early colonial times, as white
and blacks had rebelled together. Additionally, in the Old World, slavery was not a new concept, but it
had never been applied solely to the black population. Servants and poor whites were always at the
bottom rung of the social ladder in England; they were not naturally better than the black population.
However, in the colonies, servants and poor whites were unquestionably in a higher class than the
black population, a position of

Dennis Hightower Essay
Dennis Hightower, as head of Russell Reynolds Los Angeles office, was assigned to the position of
finding a person fit to be the vice president of Disney Consumer Products Europe. When they had
narrowed the search down to six candidates, it had been decided that Hightower was the best
candidate for the position (Jick Peiperl, 2011). Hightower was concerned about taking this position
because the country managers had shared their views with him and he felt it would be uncomfortable
to go back as their boss. Hightower was told that Boyd has spoken to three of the senior most country
managers, and they approved of Hightower as vice president.
Hightower s Actions from 88 to 94 In July 1988, Hightower decided to move into the publishing

themselves and their families. The rewards of such a business is the ability to control the company,
able to continue to do what the owner loves without having too much risk, have a positive cash flow

Throughout Genesis God s character is all knowing and has a very dominant feel. When god speaks he

There s nothing like driving through the city with the top down on a summer s day. In winter,

What Is A Car Scraper?
During the colder months, ice collects on idle cars overnight, covering windshields, bonnets, and
pretty much every inch of a vehicle s exterior. While a little bit of ice on your car door or bumper isn t

Pros
American Made
If you want to purchase an American made car scraper, the Ka Bar Lake Effect is one of only a few
available. There are a number of reasons one might chose an American made car scraper over one
manufactured elsewhere. For a start, doing so will stimulate the American economy. Furthermore,
employees in Chinese factories where many other car scrapers are manufactured are often underpaid

Doubles as a Weapon
I guess you could say all car scrapers double as a weapon, but the Ka Bar Lake Effect Ice Scraper was
specifically designed to be used as a self defense tool when not ridding windshields of ice.
Cons

If you are a fan of hunting, this probably won t be too much of an issue for you. However, car owners
who are against hunting for sport should note that Ka Bar also manufacturers hunting equipment,
meaning a portion of the money spent on this car scraper will likely go into funding the production of

Essay on The Digestive System
The Digestive System
What are the main functions in digestion of the
a) mouth
b) stomach
c) small intestine
The mouth takes in the food and uses the teeth and the salivary glands do break down the food so it
could move onto the next phase. The teeth chew food while the salivary glands, liver, bile duct and
pancreas produce digestive juices to break down food.
The stomach is a L shaped, organ situated on the left side of the abdominal cavity beneath the
diaphragm. At either end of this organ is a sphincter muscle which contracts and relaxes to control the
movement of food in and out of he stomach. The stomach churns the food and releases gastric juices
to help break it down. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The pharynx pushes the food down into the oesophagus also known as the food pipe. The oesophagus
uses the process of peristalsis to propel the food down towards the stomach. The stomach uses
hydrochloric acid and pepsin to help with the break down of food the stomach churns the food for the
process of breaking down the food and then leaves the stomach in the form of chyme. This then enters
the small intestine, this is where all the nutrients in the food are absorbed. Also in the digestive
process the pancreas and the liver also play a part. The pancreas releases hormone in the body via the
blood steam as well as that it also produces enzymes such as, Trysin which digests proteins and breaks
them down into amino acids,
Amylase which continues the digestion of starch,
Lipase which breaks down the fats into fatty acids and glycerol,
The pancreas also keeps a check on the amount of glucose in the blood. If the levels of glucose are too
high or too low, it produces hormones that stimulate the liver to adjust the balance. The liver has a

Storing and filtering blood,
Secreting bile to help break down fat,

Addison s Disease
A disorder that takes place when your body produces an insufficient amount of certain hormones that
are produced by the adrenal glands is called Addison s disease. With Addison s disease, the adrenal
glands do not produce enough cortisol and often times an insufficient amount of aldosterone as well.
Doctors sometimes refer to Addison s disease as the illness of chronic adrenal insufficiency, or also
called hypocortisolism. In 1855, Thomas Addison first described adrenal insufficiency, which was
subsequently named after him. The basis of Addison disease has dramatically changed since its initial
description. Originally, the disease usually resulted from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A person should visit their doctor for the diagnosis of this disease if they have severe fatigue, muscle
or joint pains, salt cravings, unintentional weight loss, and gastrointestinal problems, such as vomiting
and abdominal pain and nausea. The cause of Addison s disease is the result of the adrenal glands
being damaged and producing insufficient amounts of cortisol and aldosterone as well. The adrenal
glands are located just above the kidneys. Being part of the endocrine system, the adrenal glands
produce hormones that give instructions to almost every organ and tissue in the body. The adrenal
glands are made up of two different sections. The interior (medulla) which produces hormones similar
to adrenaline. The (cortex) outer layer has the role of producing a group of hormones that are called
corticosteroids; these include mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids and the male sex hormones known
as (androgens). Addison s disease takes place when the cortex is damaged and does not produce
hormones in adequate quantities. Doctors often refer to this condition that involves damage to the
adrenal glands as a primary adrenal insufficiency. When the adrenal glands fail to produce
adrenocortical hormones it is commonly a result of an autoimmune disease where the body is
attacking itself. For an unknown reason the immune system sometimes views the

Coming from humble beginnings it is clear that Napoleon intends to enjoy his life and the wealth that
he has created, having not been exposed to many luxuries during his childhood. Because of his
upbringing, I feel that Napoleon would regard Power and Hedonism highly as values, as he appears to
consider power and material possessions of importance. The importance of power to Napoleon is seen
through such comments as I want to be remembered for something (Light 2005), while the importance
he places on personal wealth is seen through his notoriously

Ethos, Logos And Symbology
Ethos, Pathos, and Logos are modes of persuasion used to convince audiences. In the video, Breaking
News: Some Bullshit Happening Somewhere , uses Pathos very well by provoking the audience to
laugh and feel sorry for the residents. The actual Bullshit , is the language given by the news anchors
and how careless the somewhere is to have a bear loose. The language actually pulls readers in and
some find it funny rather than inappropriate. There were no facts included in the video, so there s no
Logos represented. As for Ethos, the video doesn t have an appropriate language especially for the age
group that watches the news, concluding the audience doesn t have trust in the author/ video. In the

Timothy Mcveigh s Bombing Of The Oklahoma City Murrah
On April 19, 1995 the world was thrown into shock. Terrorism was not a thing in the United States. It
was even more of a shock to find out this terrorist was a resident of the United States. Not only did
this tragedy effect the hundreds of people inside the Oklahoma City Murrah building, it also affected
billions of rescue workers, families, and loved ones. All the different groups of people affected by this
bomb copped in very different ways.
Mcveigh used a lot of smart thinking to carry out his bombing plan. On April 17, 1995 Timothy
Mcveigh used the fake name Robert D. Kling to rent the Ryder truck in junction city, Kansas that he
would use to plant the bomb in to blow up the Oklahoma City Murrah Building (Casey). Only 270

These men and women risked their lives to try to save the thousands of men, women, and children
trapped inside the Murrah building. In assumption people would think this traumatic experience of
trying to recover lives after the explosion would not only be very heartbreaking, but very traumatic
also. Surprisingly, from all the rescue workers only 13% (24/181) were diagnosed with posttraumatic
stress disorder (North). A test was approved and ran by the Washington University School of Medicine
Institutional Review Board (North). This test involved the first group of firefighters who were
involved with the bombing victims (North). These firefighters are the ones who helped recover bodies
and body parts from the rubble of the bombing (North). Two thirds (68%) reported feeling somewhat
or very upset by either or both of these activities, although many (36%) described removing the bodies
as providing a sense of relief and closure to their evacuation work. Firefighters acknowledged feeling
somewhat or very upset by contact with body parts (54%) and body fluids (36%), but encounters with
children s remains (72% of total sample) had the highest rating of associated upset

Lifestyle Of Living In Prison
When a person is diagnosed with diabetes they must develop an entirely new lifestyle. In life a person
has the freedom to eat what they want and when they want, but when diagnosed as a diabetic that all
changes. Being diabetic is like being in prison. A diabetic and a prisoner must develop to a new
lifestyle, cope with the lack of certain privileges and rights, and handle monitoring their blood sugar
levels all day like being watched by the patrol guards.
First, a diabetic has a new lifestyle of constant finger pricks and insulin injections to get acquainted
with. The ability to develop a new schedule and activities of living as a diabetic is at times painful and
hard. The ordinary life of going day by day not worried about what a person eats gets torn right out
from underneath them. Diabetics have a hard time coping with the totally new way of living. Being
diabetic is like being a prisoner in one s own body. A prisoner also must develop a new lifestyle. Being
behind bars in a small, cold, and damp room is totally different than being able to lay in a comfy bed
or sit on a fluffy sofa. Prisoners are placed on a certain schedule as well, but for reasons such as time
to shower, or time to go to the yard. Being in prison can tear a person s lifestyle apart because they are
unable to go home to their house or do everyday things like shop, or even spend time with their kids.
Being diabetic is a rough situation for people that have never dealt with any sort of health conditions.

Essay on Ending Destruction of the Rainforest
Ending Destruction of the Rainforest
As destruction of the rainforest continues, man slowly paves the inevitable path to a clear end. It has
been known that the rainforest is an essential provider for the balance of the mother earth and that it
acts as a key for life as we know it. Yet, the world still decides to quietly watch the disappearance. In
fact, most people realize what exactly is taking place. But however, instead of trying to aid in the
termination of this disaster. They place this into the back of their ignorant little minds thinking that it
will not directly effect them. Every day the removal continues, it actually occurs extremely fast and at
a pace of 80 acres per minute. That means at 80 acres per minute with 60 ... Show more content on

The reason for this being that the more agricultural products the county provides to export, the more
profit that the country can make. With this being the case these farmers will purchase these lands.
After a purchase is made the farmer then in turn can do as pleases. Farmers then destroy all trees upon
the land in an effort to provide ideal cultivation areas to produce large cash crop products. Although
they will use this land for generating food products, the main concern lies within the fact that soil in
which they will be using is extremely low in nutrients. This meaning that every 2 to 3 years of usage
the farmer will then be forced to expunge the used land followed by the obtaining of new lands. This
in turn becomes a continual cycle where the farmers become parasites of the land, where day by day
they will suck every ounce of life from the land until it is dry.
Ranching is another cause for destruction of rainforests. Ranchers obtain land in the same method as
farmers do, but however, they are not forced to move from land to land as the farmers do. Ranchers
clear large areas of rainforest to become pastures for their cattle. This land does not cost them very
much and often more then not the ranchers are able to collect this land for free, enabling them to sell
cattle at relatively low prices. Cattle ranching for beef exports are perhaps one of

The Punch List Obligations Of A Construction Project Manager
The Punch List Obligations of a Construction Project Manager at Project Closeout
ABRAHAM J MAJU
(MPM 630 Project Closeout)
January 2015
UNIVERSITY OF MARY, BISMARCK ND
USA
Abstract
Most constructions contracts tends to be very specific in regards to the overall planned financial
budget of the construction work, the expected quality of the job output from the contractor as well as
the duration (time) that is allowed to complete the work. But it is very common that in most cases, it
would seem that all that would be required to closing out a construction or any other type of a major
capital project would be just to inspect it, accept it and see that the contractor is able to receive all his
entitlements and final payments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introduction
Constructions project management involves the direct and daily monitoring of all construction
activities and tasks, including all the construction methodologies that is being applied, as well as the
personnel that directs or guides the project through every single stage or phase of its life cycle. It is
pertinent to know that not all constructions jobs might not be successfully completed due to some
changed conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond control like the effects of nature and differing
site conditions. Some of the constructions projects get rejected or are abruptly cancelled due to
reasons best known to either the contractor or the client as the case maybe, but whatever happens
regardless. Proper and effective closure is always needed on all constructions projects.
According to the words of the author Joseph A. Griffin (2011) titled How to Close a Project , he noted
that Closing a project should be treated as an integral part of the project plan. The closing process does
not begin at the end of the project, but during the planning phase. Each step should be carefully
planned and executed as any other portion of the project . Propounding on the suggested timeline for
preparations of a project closeout, the authors Edward R. Fisk and Wayne D. Reynolds (2014) in the
Tenth Edition of their publications titled Construction Project Administration noted on page 347, that
The closeout period may actually begin several weeks to a month

Journey s End by R.C Sherriff.
How does Journey s End show the effects of war on the
men involved?
Journey s End is a play about British soldiers in World War One, and the effects the war has on them,
both physically and mentally. The play explores many aspects of war life, including friendship,
alcoholism, class boundaries and the lifestyle of the men in the trenches. This essay explores how the
play shows the effects of war on those involved, looking at use of dialogue, lighting, props and other
key dramatic devices. The essay will mainly focus on Act 3, Scene 2 of the play, but relevant quotes
from other scenes in Journey s End will also be used to help illustrate points.
Stanhope, the Commander of the company, is a prime example of how the war effected many ... Show

Raleigh s first reaction upon entering the trenches (Act 1) is that of surprise. He has been expecting
more noise and excitement, and says to Osborne, How frightfully quiet it is!
To begin with, Raleigh is very eager to go out and fight, but Osborne s death after the raid has a big
effect on him. He cannot understand how the men can sit, eating fine food and drinking champagne
,when one of their closest companions has been killed. However, Raleigh does not realise that the
reason why they are doing this is to try and help themselves to forget the tragedy that has occurred,
and to boost morale amongst the men. Raleigh has misunderstood the situation, and only realises his
error at the end of Act 3 Scene 2, when Stanhope shouts, You think there s no limit to what a man can
bear? Raleigh tries to apologise, but Stanhope is too incensed with rage to listen.
By the end of that particular scene, even though Raleigh has only been at war for a week, he is already
a changed person. His short battle experience has erased whatever distorted expectations he has had
before, and he now knows about the harsh realities of life in the trenches. We know this because of his
obvious change in mood and personality by Act 3 Scene 2 he says a lot less than he has beforehand,
and stage directions tell us at one point, Raleigh speaks in a low, halting voice . R.C Sherriff has
chosen to alter his speech and tone of voice to show the audience clearly how the raid has affected

  • 4. Gender Roles In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight The fourteenth century was not known for unconventional writing. Moreover, the first attempts at reform were occurring, causing assimilation and not much thought on sexism or the era s prevalent misogyny. Yet, writers whether deliberately or unintentionally included gender roles in their text, as they play a considerable role in all aspects of society. Gender roles are apparent in both the Pearl Poet and Geoffrey Chaucer s stories. However, the Pearl Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight fable furthers the sexist patriarchy, while Chaucer s The Miller s Tale actively dismantles conventional female roles. Both tale s descriptions of females, comments from the male protagonists, and the character development of each story s most prominent female character demonstrate the contrasting views in these texts. When examining Middle Age texts through their gender roles, one must first consider the descriptive words used to depict the story s males and females. The Pearl Poet s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight draws upon the era s traditional concepts of male and female roles. This is exemplified when the fable opens with tales of brave mythological heroes such as world controlling Romulus and Aeneas, who represent the Middle Age s idealized male roles of strength and superiority. In contrast, the first female is described through her clothes and delicate external beauty, objectifying and fetishizing her: Queen Guenevere gaily dressed and placed in the middle, seated on the upper ... While the late 1980s proved tough for the industry as a whole, the introduction and meteoric rise of the family minivan (a market controlled 47% by Chrysler as of 1996), coupled with the 1987 acquisition and subsequent exploitation of the Jeep brand name, left Chrysler the envy of the U.S. auto market by the mid 1990s. While their methods were mostly legal, they also used fear and violence to secure absolute authority. For many European countries, democracy was not a well practiced tradition. Leaders like Mussolini and Hitler, took advantage of legal loopholes in weak democracies to create their dictatorships. After WWI, Italy introduced proportional representation to its constitutional monarchy. This gave minor parties, like Mussolini s Italian Fasci of Combat the opportunity to gain seats in the Chamber of Deputies. Despite only having 0.4% of the votes, Mussolini was able to form a coalition with other parties in the 1921 general election. Similarly, in the 1928 German federal election, the Nazi party won 12 seats from a measly 2.6% of the vote. This group was a testament to the rebellious potential of the plantation labor force, namely indentured servants. Plantation owners had grown wary of indentured servants and due to the hard labor, few free workers were willing to work on plantations, leaving no viable labor source for the gentry to generate wealth. Although unintentional on part of the upper class, these laws enculturated racism into colonial life, creating a class rift between whites and blacks. However, the incorporation of prejudice and racism developed only after the slave trade was established. Racism was not a prevalent social norm before American slavery. It was the potential combination of poor whites and blacks that caused the most fear. If there had been the natural racial repugnance...control would have been easier. This quote shows the low bar of prejudice in the early colonial times, as white and blacks had rebelled together. Additionally, in the Old World, slavery was not a new concept, but it had never been applied solely to the black population. Napoleon Perdis is perceived to be a very independent person, highly valuing creativity and the freedom to act, which are stated as characteristics of Self Direction by Alice Ramos (2006). We can see that Napoleon possesses these qualities through his description of his personality when establishing his business, I was very aggressive and assertive, and I was very positive with what I wanted (Spicer 2006). From this information it is clear that Napoleon would consider Self Direction of high importance. This quote also reinforces the fact that Napoleon has an internal locus of control, meaning he believes that he is responsible for his own fate. Because of Napoleon s dynamic and energetic personality, I believe that he would value Stimulation as of high importance to him, as he seems to enjoy change, excitement and stimulating experiences. Coming from humble beginnings it is clear that Napoleon intends to enjoy his life and the wealth that he has created, having not been exposed to many luxuries during his childhood. Because of his upbringing, I feel that Napoleon would regard Power and Hedonism highly as values, as he appears to consider power and material possessions of importance. The importance of power to Napoleon is seen through such comments as I want to be remembered for something (Light 2005), while the importance he places on personal wealth is seen through his notoriously ... In the video, Breaking News: Some Bullshit Happening Somewhere , uses Pathos very well by provoking the audience to laugh and feel sorry for the residents. The actual Bullshit , is the language given by the news anchors and how careless the somewhere is to have a bear loose. The language actually pulls readers in and some find it funny rather than inappropriate. There were no facts included in the video, so there s no Logos represented. As for Ethos, the video doesn t have an appropriate language especially for the age group that watches the news, concluding the audience doesn t have trust in the author/ video. In the video, ... A test was approved and ran by the Washington University School of Medicine Institutional Review Board (North). This test involved the first group of firefighters who were involved with the bombing victims (North). These firefighters are the ones who helped recover bodies and body parts from the rubble of the bombing (North). Two thirds (68%) reported feeling somewhat or very upset by either or both of these activities, although many (36%) described removing the bodies as providing a sense of relief and closure to their evacuation work. In life a person has the freedom to eat what they want and when they want, but when diagnosed as a diabetic that all changes. Being diabetic is like being in prison. A diabetic and a prisoner must develop to a new lifestyle, cope with the lack of certain privileges and rights, and handle monitoring their blood sugar levels all day like being watched by the patrol guards. First, a diabetic has a new lifestyle of constant finger pricks and insulin injections to get acquainted with. The ability to develop a new schedule and activities of living as a diabetic is at times painful and hard. The ordinary life of going day by day not worried about what a person eats gets torn right out from underneath them. Diabetics have a hard time coping with the totally new way of living. • 44. Essay on Ending Destruction of the Rainforest Ending Destruction of the Rainforest As destruction of the rainforest continues, man slowly paves the inevitable path to a clear end. It has been known that the rainforest is an essential provider for the balance of the mother earth and that it acts as a key for life as we know it. Yet, the world still decides to quietly watch the disappearance. In fact, most people realize what exactly is taking place. But however, instead of trying to aid in the termination of this disaster. They place this into the back of their ignorant little minds thinking that it will not directly effect them. Every day the removal continues, it actually occurs extremely fast and at a pace of 80 acres per minute. That means at 80 acres per minute with 60 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reason for this being that the more agricultural products the county provides to export, the more profit that the country can make. With this being the case these farmers will purchase these lands. After a purchase is made the farmer then in turn can do as pleases. Farmers then destroy all trees upon the land in an effort to provide ideal cultivation areas to produce large cash crop products. Although they will use this land for generating food products, the main concern lies within the fact that soil in which they will be using is extremely low in nutrients. This meaning that every 2 to 3 years of usage the farmer will then be forced to expunge the used land followed by the obtaining of new lands. This in turn becomes a continual cycle where the farmers become parasites of the land, where day by day they will suck every ounce of life from the land until it is dry. Ranching is another cause for destruction of rainforests. Ranchers obtain land in the same method as farmers do, but however, they are not forced to move from land to land as the farmers do. Ranchers clear large areas of rainforest to become pastures for their cattle. This land does not cost them very much and often more then not the ranchers are able to collect this land for free, enabling them to sell cattle at relatively low prices. Cattle ranching for beef exports are perhaps one of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. The Punch List Obligations Of A Construction Project Manager The Punch List Obligations of a Construction Project Manager at Project Closeout ABRAHAM J MAJU (MPM 630 Project Closeout) January 2015 UNIVERSITY OF MARY, BISMARCK ND USA Abstract Most constructions contracts tends to be very specific in regards to the overall planned financial budget of the construction work, the expected quality of the job output from the contractor as well as the duration (time) that is allowed to complete the work. But it is very common that in most cases, it would seem that all that would be required to closing out a construction or any other type of a major capital project would be just to inspect it, accept it and see that the contractor is able to receive all his entitlements and final payments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introduction Constructions project management involves the direct and daily monitoring of all construction activities and tasks, including all the construction methodologies that is being applied, as well as the personnel that directs or guides the project through every single stage or phase of its life cycle. It is pertinent to know that not all constructions jobs might not be successfully completed due to some changed conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond control like the effects of nature and differing site conditions. Some of the constructions projects get rejected or are abruptly cancelled due to reasons best known to either the contractor or the client as the case maybe, but whatever happens regardless. Proper and effective closure is always needed on all constructions projects. According to the words of the author Joseph A. Griffin (2011) titled How to Close a Project , he noted that Closing a project should be treated as an integral part of the project plan. The closing process does not begin at the end of the project, but during the planning phase. Each step should be carefully planned and executed as any other portion of the project . Propounding on the suggested timeline for preparations of a project closeout, the authors Edward R. Fisk and Wayne D. Reynolds (2014) in the Tenth Edition of their publications titled Construction Project Administration noted on page 347, that The closeout period may actually begin several weeks to a month ... • 46. Journey s End by R.C Sherriff. How does Journey s End show the effects of war on the men involved? Journey s End is a play about British soldiers in World War One, and the effects the war has on them, both physically and mentally. The play explores many aspects of war life, including friendship, alcoholism, class boundaries and the lifestyle of the men in the trenches. This essay explores how the play shows the effects of war on those involved, looking at use of dialogue, lighting, props and other key dramatic devices. The essay will mainly focus on Act 3, Scene 2 of the play, but relevant quotes from other scenes in Journey s End will also be used to help illustrate points. Stanhope, the Commander of the company, is a prime example of how the war effected many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Raleigh s first reaction upon entering the trenches (Act 1) is that of surprise. He has been expecting more noise and excitement, and says to Osborne, How frightfully quiet it is! To begin with, Raleigh is very eager to go out and fight, but Osborne s death after the raid has a big effect on him. He cannot understand how the men can sit, eating fine food and drinking champagne ,when one of their closest companions has been killed. However, Raleigh does not realise that the reason why they are doing this is to try and help themselves to forget the tragedy that has occurred, and to boost morale amongst the men. Raleigh has misunderstood the situation, and only realises his error at the end of Act 3 Scene 2, when Stanhope shouts, You think there s no limit to what a man can bear? Raleigh tries to apologise, but Stanhope is too incensed with rage to listen. By the end of that particular scene, even though Raleigh has only been at war for a week, he is already a changed person. His short battle experience has erased whatever distorted expectations he has had before, and he now knows about the harsh realities of life in the trenches. We know this because of his obvious change in mood and personality by Act 3 Scene 2 he says a lot less than he has beforehand, and stage directions tell us at one point, Raleigh speaks in a low, halting voice . R.C Sherriff has chosen to alter his speech and tone of voice to show the audience clearly how the raid has affected ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
