The realm of product design is a constantly changing environment where technology and style intersect. Every year introduces fresh challenges and exciting trends that mold the future of this captivating art form. In this piece, we delve into the significant trends set to influence the look and functionality of product design in the year 2024.
How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

C++ is an enhanced and extended version of C programming language, developed by Bjarne Stroustrup in 1979 as part of his Ph.D. project. Bjarne developed what he called ‘C with Classes’ (later renamed C++) because he felt limited by the existing programming languages that were not ideal for large scale projects. He used C to build what he wanted because C was already a general-purpose language that was efficient and fast in its operations.

✅What is C++ Programming?
✅C++ Career Prospects:
With just C++ programming expertise, you will have excellent job opportunities, salaries, and career prospects. However, for a career based on programming languages such as Java and Python (which are in more demand than C++) or for careers based on front-end, back-end, and full-stack

Bruna Reginato, Giancarlo Rizzi, Francisco Gómez Castro. Interfaces Gráficas, 2015.1.
2. 1.
O conceito de affordance,
segundo Gibson.
affordance é :
"Uma possibilidade
de ação disponível
em o entorno de uma
pessoa, independente-
mente da capacidade
do individuo para
perceber esta
possibilidade”
(Gibson en McGrenere y Ho, 2000).

video
3. 1. O conceito de affordance,
segundo Gibson.
- O sustantivo "affordance",
Gibson cunhou um significado próprio, vin-
culado às possibilidades que um ambiente ou
objeto oferecem a um agente particular. De
acordo com o conceito, tais possibilidades
precisam ser percebidas pelo agente.
( Broch, 2010)
Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno.
Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
4. 1. O conceito de affordance,
segundo Gibson.
- Teoria das Affordances
(Gibson 1986), afirma que a percepção
de affordance é holística. Aquilo que perce-
bemos, em um ambiente, são suas affordan-
ces, não suas propriedades ou dimensões. O
Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
- Uma affordance é o produto
das relações entre estruturas
físicas do ambiente e o intelecto
5. 1. O conceito de affordance,
segundo Gibson.
Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
- Uma affordance não depende
do agente.
humano, intelectuais.
6. 1. O conceito de affordance,
segundo Gibson.
Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
- As Affordances não
desaparecem quando os olhos se
fecham.
formas e tendências desse eco-sistema, for-
mando uma identidade (GIBSON apud
OLIVEIRA e RODRIGUES, 2006).
to,...” ( Broch, 2010)
7. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
2. Situativity e os conceitos de
affordance e ability
8. Affordances e habilidades (ou
effectivities ou aptidões) são inerentemente
relacional.
Um affordance relaciona
atributos de algo no ambiente de
uma atividade interativa por um
agente que tem alguma
habilidade,
e uma capacidade relaciona atributos de um
agente para uma atividade interativa com
algo no ambiente que tem algum affordance.
Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
2. Situativity e os conceitos de
affordance e ability
A relatividade da affordances e habilidades é
fundamental. Nem um affordance nem uma
capacidade é especificado na ausência de
outra especificação. Ele não vai longe o sufi-
ciente para dizer que a capacidade depende
do contexto de características ambientais, ou
que uma affordance depende do contexto de
características de um agente.
Os conceitos são co-determina-
dos e nenhum deles é coerente,
na ausência do outro, mais do
que o conceito físico de
movimento ou quadro de
referência faz sentido sem os
dois.
9. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
3. Affordances e Habilidades na
Teoria da Situação
- Teoria da Situação
Frase é igual a uma relação entre:
A sentença
X
10. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
mudanças no sentido do movimento do carro
conforme ele gira o volante.
Força aplicada no volante
=
o quanto gira as rodas do carro
O quanto gira as rodas do carro
=
muda o sentido mais ou menos
11. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
3. Affordances e Habilidades na
Teoria da Situação
- Restrições condicionais
Fornecem uma maneira de caracterizar affor-
dances e habilidades.
São frequentemente utilizadas em análises.
12. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
- Exemplo de restrição
relevante:
Andar na sala
=
Estar na sala
13. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
- Exemplo de restrição
relevante:
Movimento dos braços
=
mudança no sentido do carro.
3. Affordances e Habilidades na
Teoria da Situação.
Condições de affordance para
essa restrição: a forma e outras carac
terísticas mecânicas do volante e o arranjo
rodas do carro.
plano do volante.
14. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
Conceitos de affordance e habili-
dade podem ser usados em qual-
quer análise de atividade, como
por exemplo na conversação.
Habilidades para falar e perceber os termos
da linguagem estão entre as condições de
capacidade requeridas para restrições de
referência a serem aplicadas na atividade de
conversação.

5. Aplicaçoes do Termo Affordances
em Produtos.
Löbach (2001)
Em objetos funcionais, as affordances
estão diretamente relacionadas com as
funções práticas, ou seja, os aspectos fisioló-
gicos de uso, decorrentes de relações
orgânico-corporais entre um produto e um
usuário. Nesse sentido, quando um produto
é criado, sua concepção está condicionada,
primeiramente ao seu uso principal e
específico.
Donald Norman (2006)
O termo affordance se refere às proprieda-
des fundamentais percebidas e reais do
21. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
5. Aplicaçoes do Termo Affordances
em Produtos.
Nesse conceito mais amplo,
affordances suplementares são
identificadas, quando um objeto
assume outras funções, pela in-
teração com o usuário, sem que
haja necessidade de alterar sua
estrutura formal.
22. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
5. Aplicaçoes do Termo Affordances
em Produtos.
Barbara Tversky (2004)
e inferir coisas. Referir significa
identificar os membros de uma
categoria. Inferir significa saber
o que fazer com eles ou o que
fazem, ou seja, saber que
propriedades têm.
Atributos funcionais são menos imediatos e
demoram mais para serem aprendidos do
que atributos baseados nas aparências.
Assim, pela análise da linguagem plástica é
possível perceber affordances a partir dos
atributos aparentes, entre os quais
destacamos as partes, a forma e as relações
espaciais dos objetos. Norman (2006)
complementa que os materiais empregados
nos objetos também podem sugerir
affordances.

6. Affordance no design de
interfaces: Tipos de Affordance
Há três tipos de Affordance:
Percebidas(Fornecidas pelo
objeto), ocultas (aquelas que o
usuário deve intuir) e falsas (o
usuário tem uma percepção
equivocada do que é possível
com o design).

6. Affordance no design de
interfaces: Tipos de Affordance
Explícita
É sinalizada por algum tipo de linguagem
verbal.
leva à página inicial do site.
25. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
6. Affordance no design de
interfaces: Tipos de Affordance
Oculta
(1) clique no botão “Pin it”,
(2) clique no botão “Enviar”, (3) clique no
botão “Like“; (4) clique para dar zoom.
26. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
do telefone: fazer ligações.
27. Gibson's Affordances, Special Issue. James G. Greeno. Psychological Review 1994, Vol. 101, No. 2, 336-342
6. Affordance no design de
interfaces: Tipos de Affordance
Interação não-permitida
Algumas vezes é necessário desabilitar
certas funcionalidades e mostrá-las como
indisponíveis. Pra isso usamos o recurso
visual de acinzentar o elemento desabilitado
