My Field Experiences At The International Newcomer Academy...
As I entered the doors of International Newcomers Academy (INA) for the first time, I can remember
how nervous I felt. I could not help but feel unprepared and I could not fathom how I could possibly
be any help to a student when we did not even speak the same language. However as quickly as my
field experiences began I could feel my perceptions changing. The experiences I had at INA have left
their mark on me and I am truly grateful for having the opportunity to complete my field experiences
at the International Newcomer Academy.
One aspect of INA is the ingenious teaching approaches. Effective teaching requires a multifaceted
approach, this includes utilizing Jensen s seven critical factors. These factors include engagement,
repetition. input quantity, coherence, timing, error correction and emotional states. Each factor is
distinct in its function and implantation. There are numerous benefits to incorporating these seven
critical factors into lessons such as engagement will induce focus and gain the student s attention,
repetition will enable the students to preview, review, and revise the information, input quantity limits
the amount of information resulting in a deeper understanding, coherence builds off the student s
personal experiences and prior knowledge, timing provides for activity shifts and best suitable
scheduling, error correction reinforces the lesson through quality feedback, and emotional states
evokes fundamental emotions to initiate self reliance and

Polarized Bamboo Sunglasses Research Paper
Polarized Bamboo Sunglasses
Sunglasses are usually worn as a protective eyewear. They protect your eyes from the strong
ultraviolet rays of the sun; any other bright and harsh lights which can be dangerous for your eyes
when exposed to for a long duration. Injuries can be caused to different parts of the eyes like the
retina, iris and the cornea and constant injuries can leave a long lasting and permanent damage. If you
thought sunglasses are only for the summer season, think again. Of course, to dodge the staunch
sunlight, you have to wear sunglasses but they are also worn during driving. People with contact lens
have to rely on sunglasses to protect them from debris and dust particles entering their eyes as it can
be painful and leads to scratching of the cornea.
Sunglasses are also worn by sportsman indulging in activities and sports like scuba diving, ice
climbing, jet water skiing, motorcycle racing, rock climbing, kayaking and many more. These are
special sunglasses made for these activities like goggles for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Polarized lenses work well for joggers, bikers, golfers, skiers, fishermen and boaters. These sunglasses
when used for driving can reduce the glare that comes off the surface of the road or car. This can also
be used indoors by light sensitive people. While ordinary tinted lenses reduce brightness, only
polarized lenses eliminate glare. With the help of polarized bamboo sunglasses, you can add style and
at the same time eliminate glare.
When looking to buy new sunglasses, you want to make sure you are looking for the best glasses, not
only to protect your eyes from UV rays, but also that allow you to see things the best. Even though
they may cost a little more, polarized sunglasses are the way to go. You simply cannot beat polarized
sunglasses when it comes to combining protection and style. For more information about the stated
topic above, browsing the web or conducting a research can be a big

Monarch Butterfly Research Papers
The monarch butterfly is one of the most familiar species, and is considered important because of its
pollinating skills. This species is most recognizable for is black, orange, and white wings. The
monarch butterflies wings change colors from orange to a deep red, from beginning to the end of
migration. This butterfly population has been decreasing over the last ten years, and are predicted to
be quasi extinct over the next 20 years. These butterflies keep warm by opening their wings up to the
sun. Males have a different appearance than the female butterflies such as they are much bigger in
size, and the black veins on their wings are narrower than those of a female. The monarch butterfly
has six legs, but only uses four. They use their middle

Arm Wrestling With My Father Analysis
What would be a better expression of father s love? Squeezing each other s fists till strips of tendons
bulge out? Or wrapping arms around each other for a warm embrace? In Arm Wrestling with My
Father, Brad Manning experiences a change in his father s expression of love; from arm wrestling, to a
hug. In his story, Manning successfully depicts a boy who admired his father s masculine strength and
grows up to also respect his tenderness and gradually learns to replace his father s role. His depiction
is displayed through alternative comparison, sentence length, analogy, and diction. Alternative
comparison that emphasizes the father s physical massiveness strengthens Manning s admiration and
gratitude toward his father. Manning uses an alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though Manning fears taking his father s place, he has perception of the imminent role switch and
gradually gets prepared for it. In the opening paragraph about starting an arm wrestle, Manning says
his father liked to put responsibility on [him]. His choice of using put responsibility on me instead of
he gave me the choice to start first illustrates how Manning unconsciously knew his father will
someday hand down his responsibility to him. Then in the middle of the essay, he tells a story of how
he joined a row club to gain small buildup along the muscle lines, but it didn t seem enough he was
still lanky and featureless. Despite his yet juvenile muscles, Manning is putting effort to become a
sturdy man like his father. Finally, Manning admits that his and his father s roles have begun to switch.
Already being a father of three children, Manning could have chosen to write had begun to switch. But
he uses the present progressive tense to emphasize that he is still working on understanding his father
s role and there s so much he should work on to become like his admirable father. Without such subtle
difference of verb phrase, adjective, and tense, Manning would have failed to bring out his continuous
contribution to become like his

Delivery of low molecular drugs using chitosan and its derivatives
1. Introduction
The primary focus of this term paper consists of two parts. First, review chitosan based drug delivery
system for the delivery of traditional low molecular weight drugs based on a review paper titled
targeted delivery of low molecular drugs using chitosan and its derivatives (Advanced Drug delivery
reviews, 2010). Second, critique an original research paper about hydrotropic oligomer conjugated
glycol chitosan as a carrier for tumor targeted paclitaxel delivery, which was published in Journal of
Controlled Release in 2013 (title: Enhanced drug loading and therapeutic efficacy of hydrotropic
oligomer conjugated glycol chitosan nanoparticles for tumor targeted paclitaxel delivery).
Chitosan, a linear aminopolysaccharide composed of randomly distributed (1→4) linked D
glucosamine and N acetyl D glucosamine units, is obtained by the deacetylation of chitin, a structural
element in the exoskeleton of crustaceans, which is the second most abundant natural biopolymer after
cellulose (Fig. 1). The most easily exploited sources of chitin are the protective shells of crabs and
shrimp. The primary aliphatic amines of chitosan can be protonated under acidic conditions (amine
pKa is 6.3). Fig 1. Chemical structure of chitosan

Final Year Project (Heat Sensor)
Abstract
This report contains an account of my final year project, which was carried out in the two and half
year of the Electronic and Electrical of Engineering (EEE) diploma at Institut Teknologi dan
Pengurusan Lebuh Victoria.
This paper is based on the design and analysis of Heat Sensor with water pump system using cooling
fan to reduce the temperature. This project was done to see the operation of heat sensor and how the
water pump system and the cooling fan work. This project is divided into two parts namely software
and hardware development. Also, it includes two circuits that need to be designed and developed,
specifically analogue and digital part. Hence, to prove the circuit works, the simulation of the output
need to be shown. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Almost any type will work. Different models from 10k 60k will work fine. Only modification in
trimmer is needed. Replace the trimmer pot with suitable value. Another name for the thermistor is
NTC . NTC stands for Negative temperature Co efficient . Which means surrounding temperature
decreases the resistance of this thermistor decreases.
P1 is a regular Preset potentiometer and adjusts a wide range of temperature for this circuit. We use a
regular type Preset but a regular Bourns trimmer potentiometer will work for a bit finer adjustment.
R1 is a security resistor just in case the trimmer pot P1 is adjusted all the way to 0 ohms. At which
time the thermistor would get full 12Volts and may burnt out.
R3 is the feedback resistor. The op amp is working in inverting mode. If we would not put any
feedback the circuit may become oscillatory or unstable. R3 makes a negative feedback, prevents
oscillation and makes operation of comparator stable.
Transistor Q1 can be a 2N2222(A), 2N3904, NTE123A, ECG123A, etc. Any power transistor will
equally well. It acts only as a switch for the relay so almost any type will work, as long as it can
provide the current needed to activate the relay s coil.
D1, the 1N4148, acts as a spark arrestor when the contact of the relay opens and eliminates false
triggering. When the relay coil

Killing Lincoln Opens With The End Of The Civil War
Killing Lincoln opens with the end of the Civil War drawing near. Richmond has fallen in a panic by
the hands of the Confederate citizens of the capitol. General Robert E. Lee is leading his troops across
Virginia in a retreat to the Carolinas for food, ammunition, and reinforcements. General Ulysses S.
Grant is hot on Lee s trail and manages to force Lee s troops to march farther from the path to the
Carolinas. At the Appomattox Court House in 1869, Lee surrenders to Grant and the Civil War ends.
During the Civil War, actor and Confederate supporter John Wilkes Booth is plotting the demise of
President Abraham Lincoln. His family and even his fiancee don t know how extreme his support for
the Confederate cause is. Booth met with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Booth will learn by mid day on the 14th that Lincoln is not actually going to be at Grover s. The
president will be at Ford s Theater to see a production of Our American Cousin. Lincoln has dreamt of
his own death many times before, but he has always dismissed it. The night of the 13th is no different.
The president wakes up the morning of April 14th at 7:00 am sharp. He has breakfast with his wife
and his two sons. Later he holds a meeting with Grant and his cabinet. Lincoln tells them that he has
dreamt of the day where all of the states were united. That night, Lincoln and his wife, along with
Henry Reed Rathbone and his fiancee, arrive at the Ford s Theater. Booth enters the building through
the back, his rented horse waiting with a member from the theater. Booth decides to wait at the bar
until the second act of the play is over. Supposedly, the man responsible for protecting the president
that night is drinking at that bar. Eight blocks away, Lincoln s Secretary of State, William Seward, has
been stabbed in his own home by a member of Booth s group. Seward miraculously lives. The
majority of Booth s group is arrested. After the second act, Booth sneaks upstairs to the president s
box. He passes the guard at the door, and after slipping through into the box, Booth barricades the

Review of War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning Essay
Review of War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning
War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, written by the talented author Chris Hedges, gives us
provoking thoughts that are somewhat painful to read but at the same time are quite personal
confessions. Chris Hedges, a talented journalist to say the least, brings nearly 15 years of being a
foreign correspondent to this book and subjectively concludes how all of his world experiences tie
together. Throughout his book, he unifies themes present in all wars he experienced first hand. The
most important themes I was able to draw from this book were, war skews reality, dominates culture,
seduces society with its heroic attributes, distorts memory, and supports a cause, and allures us by a ...

So he brings up a great point when talking about sensory war and mythic war. Manipulating sensory
war to mythic war creates a skewed reality.
The second chapter of the book, The Plague of Nationalism, fits into the myth of war by telling the
people of any country that it is o.k. to hate and it is o.k. to kill even though the cause might not be just.
He states that: Lurking beneath the surface of every society, including ours, is the passionate yearning
for a nationalist cause that exalts us, the kind that war alone is able to deliver. We abandon individual
responsibility for a shared, unquestioned communal enterprise, however morally dubious (45). There
is a myth within nationalism that it is right. However morally wrong the reasons of war are, the myth
of nationalism brain washes us into thinking that we are right. We are doing this for the right reasons
and therefore to support our military however morally dubious the cause is. Chris Hedges writes about
a general who, during a dispute with Chile, flew his helicopter over the Chilean border in order to piss
on Chilean Soil (42). Coming from the view of a person who wasn t involved on either aspect of the
war, this sounds a bit over the edge. Chris Hedges talks about how nationalism and racism are almost
directly related in war time. People do things they wouldn t normally do under the circumstances. War
drives us to do things we wouldn t normally do, thus dominating a

Food, Inc., By Michael Pollan And Eric Schlosser
Food, Inc. is a documentary film made by Michael Pollan and Eric Schlosser. In this documentary
they took a look at the practices of food production in the United States. There are several things that I
learned from this documentary that was horrifying to me. For this paper I will focus on the following
three topics covered in the documentary: fast food to all food, the dollar menu, and hidden costs. The
beginning of the documentary discusses fast food to all food. In this section a history of the fast food
industry is provided. The documentary further discusses how the fast food industry has transformed
what people eat. In addition it debates the farming practices and the whole global food system.

Most of the meat in grocery stores comes from these companies even though they are stamped from
farm . This can be very misleading for consumers. The dollar menu section of this documentary
focused on how processed foods and fast food are typically less expensive than healthier foods. The
documentary shows one family having the dilemma at the grocery store: a family is aware that the
father who has diabetes needs a healthier diet with more fresh, but they are forced to buy foods they
can afford. As the film implies people with lower incomes are more likely to eat processed, cheaper,
foods, leading to a higher rate of diabetes, obesity and other health problems. The federal government
spends billions each year subsidizing commodity crops. Over time, prices of certain crops, like
soybeans and corn, were lowered due to these subsidies causing overproduction which made them a
lot cheaper than other crops. Since these crops were so cheap, meat and food producers started using
them for a variety of purposes, such as, high fructose corn syrup, animal feed and hydrogenated oils.
The lowest priced options at the grocery are processed foods made from subsidized ingredients that
have refined grains with added fats and sugars. This cheap food has had the greatest impact on low
income families. Because are on a tight budget, the price difference between fresh healthy foods and
food with subsidized

powerful in making people aware of products or services available in the market. There are a lot of
ways to advertise products or services but the most well known and frequently used is the tri media
which is basically composed of television, radio, and newspapers and magazines. But in this study, the
researchers decided to focus on television commercials because in their opinion out of all the tri

researchers believe that almost everyone is familiar with Coca Cola s 100th year TV commercials. The

Internal audit s role in modern corporate governance
Recent events have highlighted the critical role of boards of directors in promoting good corporate

of their organisations internal control systems. An effective internal audit function plays a key role in
assisting the board to discharge its governance responsibilities. Yet how does the board and its audit

Governing internal audit
Amidst all the debate over corporate governance and the board s supervision of internal control
mechanisms, surprisingly little attention has been given to the role of internal audit, and particularly to
whom it is ultimately responsible. While several high level reviews by regulators and others have
acknowledged that the internal audit function and the oversight of internal controls has become an
important responsibility of boards, the implications of this for internal audit have not always been
followed through. Thus in the US, the Sarbanes Oxley Act of 2002 makes no mention of internal
audit, or of any equivalent role other than the board s role generally in the preparation of the accounts
and the setting of accounting standards.
Critical success factors for an internal audit function
Is internal audit strategically positioned to contribute to business performance? The mission and role
of internal audit are defined within a wider governance framework and are effectively communicated.

The next stage is the feedback system. The essential part of the performance feedback process is the
discussion between the manager and the employee. Prior to completing the RFF (Rank Preparation

The manager will choose to share this form with the employee in order to gather his/her input prior to
completing the RFF. After the RFF has been completed and the rank approved by all levels of the
management team, the manager will then discuss the RFF with the employee. During the discussion,
the manager and employee will both discuss the employee s responsibilities, goals and objectives,
results, strengths and areas for development. The manager will then sets performance objectives and

What Are The Challenges Of A Senior Team Leader
Introduction:
The World Health Organization (WHO) is one of the United Nations (UN) agencies. WHO is working
in 150 countries with the mission to provide a healthier life (WHO 2016). The WHO s working
strategy is to work with governments and other local and international partners to achieve their mutual
health related goals (WHO 2016). To obtain these goals, strong leadership skills and understanding of
the local problems is critical for anyone in a decision making position. Mendenhall et al (2012)
deliberated that leaders who lead teams at an international level must have the capability to bring
change in the organization by not only creating strong linkages within their teams, but also involve
with internal and external stakeholders, including counterparts, other leaders, the people from the
various governments and organizations they work with. This requires cross cultural understanding and
the ability to work within and across different sectors. For example, not only health, but also
governance and education.
This paper examines the challenges (which may be) experienced by an official who is recently
appointed as a senior team leader in the WHO in Geneva, during the first thirty days of leaders
engagement. A leader needs to focus on four domains 1) creating

Edvard Munch Scream
For this purpose of this analysis, I chose to do a piece of artwork that I viewed as very different. The
painting is titled Scream. It was created by an artist named Edvard Munch in the year of 1893. Munch
was a Norwegian artist. This painting has a great significance in Munch s life. This painting was
created during the time of Sigmund Freud. I found this very interesting since Munch himself lived a
very tough life himself. Munch began to express his tormented inner world through his artistic
creations, giving birth to an art style that would later be known as Expressionism (Art Analysis).
Expressionism is defined as a form of art in which visual appearances are distorted to express
psychological or emotional states (Getlein, 551). I believe that Scream may have been the very
beginning of this form of art, since Scream evokes such an emotional response from its viewers.
The most painful event in Edvard Munch s life was the premature death of his mother from
tuberculosis when he was five years old (Art Analysis). Munch new heartache at such a young age.
Munch also had an older sister named Sophie. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Tempera shares qualities with both watercolor and oil paint (Getlein, 161). Munch probably used
tempera because it could withstand the test of time, maintaining its colors without being darkened by
age. Tempera is defined as a paint in which the vehicle is emulsion, which is a stable mixture of an
aqueous liquid with an oil, fat, wax, or resin (Getlein, 161). The other product Munch used in this
painting is casein paint. Casein paints dry to a matte, brittle film that is insoluble in water and
impervious to most paint strippers (Casein Paint). Munch probably chose to use this medium since if
could encase and attach to the tempera paint, providing a protective covering. The painting was done
on cardboard since the casein paint would have been too brittle for regular

Secondhand Smoke Is Unhealthy For Everyone, Especially For...
Secondhand smoke is unhealthy for everyone, especially for young children. Children are more
susceptible to suffer the detrimental health effects of secondhand smoke because they breathe in more
air than adults due to their size and weight. In addition, children are constantly growing and
developing. During their development stage, children are more sensitive to the consequences of
secondhand smoke, which is ultimately dangerous to their immune and respiratory systems.
Furthermore, secondhand smoke is significantly harmful to children with asthma, which is a chronic
health condition whose symptoms include coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Children,
both with and without asthma, are powerless to protect themselves from the dangers of secondhand
smoke, so we the adults have to protect them. Secondhand smoke, also referred to as environmental
tobacco smoke, primarily comes from cigars and cigarettes The effects of breathing in secondhand
smoke is equivalent to smoking a cigarette. In addition, the chemicals released by cigarettes and cigars
contain many poisons, such as benzene, butane, ammonia, toluene, and hydrogen cyanide (American
Lung Association). These poisons from secondhand smoking are prevalent in children s surroundings,
causing them to breathe these toxins in homes, day cares, and cars. Children who are exposed to these
toxins are at an increased risk for sudden infant death syndrome, acute respiratory infections such as
bronchitis and pneumonia, otitis

The Negative Effects Of The Media On The Women s Body Image
The increasing and widespread use of media, as well as it tremendous ability to influence its audience,
has raised various concerns over the effects the media has on its viewers. One of the fields of
increasing concerns is the idea that the media portrays unrealistic body images and that these
portrayals have negative consequences on their viewers, especially so for women. Women have
always been associated with ideals of beauty and a particular body image. The question arises as to
how far the media further perpetuate these models and body images, and what are the consequences of
these effects? When the media works to perpetuate such ideals of beauty and body image, the majority
of the female population, who do not conform to such ideals and body type, fall prey to psychological
issues resulting from body dissatisfaction such as depression, self hate, negative moods, and emotions,
particularly for the younger women. Such negative emotions, when evoked, can lead to negative
consequences and actions for the affected female population, which include drastic, harmful steps
such as crash diets, self harm, or cosmetic surgery.
Effects of Media on the Women s Body Image
Many studies have been based on the concerning effects of media portrayals of beauty and body
images on women. Yamammiya et al. (2005) write that research on media images show around 94% of
the female characters shown on television are thinner than the average American woman. Moreover,

In the gothic novel, Frankenstein, written in 1818, author Mary Shelley tells a blood chilling story of
Victor Frankenstein and his monstrous creation. Many of the main concepts in the Romantic literary

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Bv Vs Sky Tv
British Satellite Broadcasting VS Sky Television
Both the companies at the start go critically for the sake of having a good competition with each other.
BSB was the consortium established in 1986. It was given the exclusive license to be the first UK s
DBS channel operator. As the 1986 was the starting point so that proved critical enough to BSB and
therefore it suffered losses.
By getting a 15 years authority by IBA to commence its services on three DBS channels, all BSB
considered was a mega plan to take a start with 400,000 satellites in its first year s broadcasting and
2,000,000 in 1992, and 6,000,000 by 1995. But when it came to the reality, the table was turned
against the anticipations and BSB faced the losses of approximately £6 7 ... Show more content on

And by the merger these could also have been saved. Here, the merger is suggested as the best
solution because it has more advantages than the disadvantages. As another solution, we can also see
towards a scenario in which BSB could use the more sophisticated technology but with less cost and
with less other costs like depreciation, sub managing, satellites, advertising etc. and this all would be
possible only if it had the good management like its competitor, and BSB could have changed wholly
the nature of interaction if it had created some obstacles in the launch of the Sky Television. But when
we come to its after effects we see that there shall be definitely a reaction caused by prevention of
launching by the Sky Television and whereby the strict cold war between them could get a start that
would not be viable for both of the powers.
In 1990, BSB was enjoying the great market share but this all got tainted with the sudden arrival of the
Sky Television in the market. When both companies were in the market BSB was actually losing the
money mainly due to its high capital investment. SKY benefited a lot from the market monopoly.
Overall Sky had a dominant strategy but for BSB it was more complicated since the only way to be
profitable was to become a

The Statue Of Liberty Analysis
The Statue of Liberty has a greater significance that cannot be seen so blatantly. While at first it may
just seem that this monument is not that complex, but with a deeper analysis many new and surprising
emblematic meanings arise. While analyzing this monument we can see how the text correlates with
the changing of its meaning. We can also see how the physical embodiment of the Statue plays a
major role in affecting the viewers in multiple ways. The monument appeals to a lot of ethnicities that
have been included in its history. The text on the Statue of Liberty may be one of the most vital parts
of the monument. Inside the pedestal there is a sonnet written by American poet Emma Lazarus. This
sonnet was originally made to raise funds for the Statue but officials and the public realized the impact
it had and decided to include it in the monument in 1903. The sonnet is called The New Colossus and
is directed to immigrants arriving through Ellis island. It includes statements and words like world
wide welcome and Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free . The
Statue of Liberty was a symbol of welcoming and new life for many immigrants which came from all
over the world. Many of these immigrants were escaping from famines that ravished their countries or
many governments, especially in Europe, did not provide the same economical opportunities as the
United States did, hence the sonnet receiving any new populace who wanted to have a

Suburban Sitcoms In The 60 s
Suburban sitcoms coming out in the late 50 s early 60 s portrayed usually an average family with
average problems it solves by the end of the episode, most sitcoms including Leave It To Beaver
followed the same formula; two white parents, a mother, and father, and 2 3 children; every episode
followed the same steps, there s a problem, the problem is solved by the end of the episode, and a
lesson is learned by the main character. This held up perfectly in the 50 s and 60 s society, but sitcoms
needed to adapt to fit their society, as time progressed, more important issues showed up in the shows,

What Is Donald Trump s Impact On Canadian Society
In 2017 I deem the person with the biggest effect on Canadian society isn t even Canadian.I believe
Donald Trump the current President of the United States Of America has made the most influential
effect in Canada. The three main reasons he has made such a massive impact is him wanting to stop
NAFTA, his impending tariff on soft lumber and his amendments to the immigration laws. To begin I
will be discussing Trump s plan to stop NAFTA. Stopping NAFTA would be horrific for Canadian
society. Canadian society acquires thousands of items from the U.S that can t be produced in Canada
for instance products like oranges, lemons, limes and mangos. During 2015 the United States imported
$295.2 billion from Canada and exported $280.3 Billion to Canada. Without NAFTA all goods would
have a tax costing Canada Millions of Dollars. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Of course Trump is striving to put a 20% tariff on Canadian soft lumber. Historically Canadians have
always sold a huge amount of their soft lumber to the United States up to 65%. Moreover on why
Trump has had a major impact on Canadian society this year is his immigration laws. Donald is
making all these immigration laws to keep people out like refugees. All the refugees that are looking
to leave their country and find a place to live they can t go the U.S.A so they will most likely come to
Canada. When Trump first became elected Canada had no those choices, then to close down its
immigration website because too many people were trying to move in. Consequently, these are the
three reasons I think that Donald Trump had the biggest impact on Canadian society in

Analysis Of How Bingeing Became The New College Sport By...
Barrett Seaman, in How Bingeing Became the New College Sport , argues that binge drinking
amongst college students would decrease if the legal drinking age was brought down to 18 or 19,
instead of 21. The author explains what Pregaming is, along with the consequences that had come
forth from college students consuming too much alcohol. Seaman talks about how the drinking law
was put into place by Congress all thanks to Mothers Against Drunk Driving. In the beginning of the
article Barrett Seaman states what pregaming actually is, It usually involves sitting in a dorm room or
an off campus apartment and drinking as much hard liquor as possible before heading out for the
evening s parties. (Paragraph 2 sentence 3). The author then continues the article with the
consequences that come from Pregaming . Seaman states the following; ... Show more content on

But tighter enforcement of the minimum drinking age of 21 is not the solution. It s part of the

lowered. In my opinion the law should not be changed to a lower age but a higher one. The reasoning
behind this is that if we raise the legal drinking age to 25 or 26 let s say, then it would be harder for the
younger college students to approach someone out of college to buy them the

Cost Allocation Method
Cost allocation is a method to determine the cost of services provided to users of that service. It does
not determine the price of the service, but rather determines what the service costs to provide. It is
important to determine the cost allocation of the services, in order to determine a justifiable
fee/charge/tax for those services.
Included in cost allocation are direct, indirect, and incremental costs. Direct costs, or separable costs,
are costs that are related to a single type of service and are related to one type of output or user such
as, a sector to sector hand off. Indirect costs, or common costs, are related to more than one type of
service, such as, the physical en route facility. Incremental costs change with the level of ... Show

Companies allocate costs so that all elements that are part of that cost share the incurred costs. It is
like spreading the costs amongst those that use it. Companies allocate costs merely to assign
responsibility of those costs to either several departments within that company or to just one
department.

Ensuring that every citizen has access to an affordable education system; to water and food and a safe
place to sleep. But because this system is still very new, and with limited amounts of money available
the development takes its time. So in summery a welfare state is a concept of government in which the
state plays a key role in the protection and promotion of the economic and social well being of its
citizens. It is based on the principles of equality of opportunity, equitable distribution of wealth, and
public responsibility for those unable to avail themselves of the minimal provisions for a good life. (4)
As we can see this explanation of a welfare state again reflects many of the ANCs key values and
mission statements.
Other Ideologies such as socialism also implementing their ideas into the current ANC principles and
the way the ANC interacts with the community. Ideas such as uniting people together through the
ANC Youth League, Sport Clubs, Holiday camps and many other community building elements.
Further on fraternity and social quality (as discussed above) feed into socialism and what comes with

Another (from my point of view) big part in our current government system plays communism. Where
the large orientation seems to come from a mix of ideologies of orthodox Marxism infused with
Leninism. Which should not be mistaken for the old USSR government system, which was ruled by a

Pros And Cons Of Prison Reform
Prison reform is the policy in which conditions in prisons are improved. Prisons have been a part of
our government since the Americas were first colonized. Conditions in the prisons were completely
different than they are now. For instance, our current prison system calls for regulations and check ups
on the facilities to make sure that they are habitable for prisoners. Many prisons are very costly to
keep up and running.Even though, there are some privately owned prisons but many are funded by the
U.S. s taxpaying citizens.Additionally, prisons make it hard to come back to society. Once you have
something on your record a lot of opportunities are thrown out the window.
In a TED talk presented by Michelle Alexander, she talks about how society is still segregated by the
Jim Crow laws even if it is not completely apparent. Specifically, Alexander talks about the issues
with our prison system and how it segregates our society even more. In addition to talking about the
segregation of our society she takes the time to talk about how convicted criminals have an extremely
difficult time transitioning back into society. She talks about the individual struggles that they go
through. Alexander states, The reality is that when you re released from prison, people who are
released from prison typically have little or no money at all. They need to find a place to sleep, but if
they try to get access to public housing, they find often that they re barred from public housing

The Change Between Suspension Bridges Before 1940 and...
Suspension bridges were important before 1940 and are still important today. Major cities such as San
Francisco, and Manhattan both have a suspension bridge. Suspension bridges are, a bridge having a
deck suspended from cables anchored at their extremities and usually raised on towers
(dictionary.com). Due to the fact that suspension bridges are not completely supported throughout the
length of the bridge, past bridges were unsafe. For example, the Tacoma Narrows Bridge was a
suspension bridge opened on July 1st, 1940 (Mark Ketchum). This bridge marked a huge point in
suspension bridge safety and engineering, because in collapsed approximately four months after it was

Sometimes the wind would not be perpendicular, in which the oscillation of the bridge was less, but
there was still some oscillation. On November 7th, 1940, the Tacoma Bridge collapsed because the
oscillation of the bridge became extreme. The oscillation of the bridge was caused by a wind speed of
42 mph (HistoryLink.org). After, approximately, an hour of a corkscrew like motion, the bridge
collapsed into Puget Sound. This marked a huge turning point in the design of suspension bridges
from that point in time to current time. Initially, suspension bridges before 1940 were made of piers,
towers, wires, anchorages, and roadways. Piers were the main foundation for the suspension bridges.
There usually were two of them, which were made out of cement and were entrenched in ground
underneath the body of water that the bridge was spanned across. Towers were built on top of the piers
to provide a means of connection for the roadways and wires. Wires were connected to the towers,
roadways, and anchorages to provide tension support for the weight of the bridge. The anchorages
were large cement platforms that were planted into the ground on either side of the land so that the
wires could be connected to it. Lastly, the roadways were the main point of the suspension bridge.
They usually were wide enough to provide four lanes of traffic and stretched from one side of the
bridge to the other. This was the basic design of the suspension bridges

Alonte engaged in dialogue with himself when engaging in imaginative play. He gave a voice to his

playing with the blocks and acting out real life roles while enjoying his play. His organization of play
according to Parten is solitary and parallel. He played by himself, but beside his brother. He did look
and watch him play at some points, then continue to do his own playing. At one point he did exchange

The Landscape With The Fall Of Icarus Essay
The stories of Icarus and Prometheus are two famous Greek myths, having been portrayed in many
types of media by various renowned artists like Pieter Bruegel the Elder and Lord George Gordon
Byron respectively. The two stories are portrayed in painting and poem form respectively. Both also
tell the stories in a different way by emphasizing some points and overshadowing others to illustrate
their message. Bruegel uses his lack of focus towards the misfortune of Icarus to illustrate that the
suffering or misfortune of one is easily missed or ignored by others, while Byron uses his
magnification of Prometheus suffering in order to illustrate that suffering for a righteous cause is
noble and good. In Bruegel s painting, The Landscape with the Fall of Icarus , he depicts a beautiful

However, hiding in the bottom right corner is a pair of legs, which belong to Icarus who is drowning.
The way that Bruegel tries to downplay and hide the drowning of Icarus by putting him in the
background instead of having Icarus being the main subject in the picture illustrates his message, that
suffering and misfortune of other people are often missed and ignored by others. On the other hand,
Byron, with his poem, Prometheus , writes about the glorious deeds of Prometheus and how
Prometheus is punished unjustly. Byron uses phrases like [a]ll the proud can feel of pain and [o]f thine
impenetrable spirit in order to highlight the glorious suffering and perseverance Prometheus (8, 42).
The spirit of martyrdom is clearly seen in this poem when Byron puts in his poem and making Death a
Victory, as martyrs die for a cause which makes their deaths a victory (59). Byron illustrates his
message, that sacrificing yourself for a just cause is a terrific thing to do, by glorifying the suffering of

Experiment 1: Separation of a Carboxylic acid, phenol and a neutral compound by Extraction
Abstract:
Extraction involves dissolving one or more compounds from a solid to a solvent or from a solution
into another solvent. Extraction can be used to isolate an organic compound from a mixture or
solution. The most common solvent used is 1 mthoxy 2 metylpropane and water. Extraction requires
you to mix the solvent in a substance that is more soluble than the solvent which forms two layers
when mixed in which you can extract one layer.

Compound Melting Point (Experimental) Melting Point Actual
Carboxylic Acid 120° 122°
Phenol 102° 104°
Biphenyl 150° 156°
Discussion:
Table 1 shows that all of the compounds were soluble in an ether solution but were insoluble in water.
The reason that these compounds were soluble in ether was because it was ionized while water being a
poor solvent had to be ionized with ionic compounds for the mixture to become more soluble. Phenol
was ionized with the addition of NaOH and since it was ionized water was added to allow the phenol
to dissolve in water. Table 2 shows the actual melting point of each compound and the melting points
we experimentally got for each compound. The variation in these numbers could be a result of
contamination or human error. The reason could have been that the solutions were not mixed well or
may have been contaminated. It may also be the fact that when adding liquid we may have been
precise with the pipette or may not have properly discarded the solution.

the world through letters with his daughter. Nehru explores how time chases, how civilizations grow
and prosper, and how different leaders shape the world in negative and positive view points and in
many other ways. Nehru wants his daughter and ultimately others reading his book to have an open
mind to the different perspective.
A theme that stood out to me is that men are greedy and only look out for their own well beings. I
agree with Nehru that people will always try to exploit each others weakness. People are so self
centered that they forget that their decisions impact more than themselves. Whatever you do will
shape history as you know it. It is a problem that some say the past generations were better that the
current generations. The reason for that is because it s like as time goes on we get worse or go
backwards instead of improving ourselves.
Another point to add is when people are content with what they have and with the current situation

Occupational Therapy Practitioners
As an occupational therapy practitioner, it is important to understand how to modify homes to fit an
individual with a disability. In this paper, I will share what I believe are the best modifications to my
own 2 story home for an individual in a wheelchair including the entrance and half bath, kitchen,
stairs, For those who maneuver through life in a wheelchair, the entrance to a home can be a huge

the choice of a 46 ramp since I have 8 inches of height . I used the formula of 12 inches of ramp for
every 2 inches of height. The ramp will include railings on both sides for increased safety when
entering and leaving the home. As a person ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, I will widen the doorway to 36 for access in a wheelchair at all angles. Next, I will move the
washer and dryer opposite the door to increase floor space for ease of use and access. Then, I will
replace the washer with a front load washer on a 12 platform and add a 12 platform to the dryer to
support good body mechanics while transferring clothes from the washer to the dryer and the dryer to
the laundry basket. Finally, I will add a rolling laundry basket for ease of use while in a wheelchair. As
a health practitioner, it is vital to learn how to help individuals to live in their homes comfortably after
a life altering circumstance when they enter, cook, sleep, bathe and all of their other vital occupations.
Seeing the impact on the independence of the client does not just impact the individual, but the whole
family. The newfound freedom in the occupations of habit will help the individual to feel like
themselves

  • 2. My Field Experiences At The International Newcomer Academy... As I entered the doors of International Newcomers Academy (INA) for the first time, I can remember how nervous I felt. I could not help but feel unprepared and I could not fathom how I could possibly be any help to a student when we did not even speak the same language. However as quickly as my field experiences began I could feel my perceptions changing. The experiences I had at INA have left their mark on me and I am truly grateful for having the opportunity to complete my field experiences at the International Newcomer Academy. One aspect of INA is the ingenious teaching approaches. Effective teaching requires a multifaceted approach, this includes utilizing Jensen s seven critical factors. These factors include engagement, repetition. input quantity, coherence, timing, error correction and emotional states. Each factor is distinct in its function and implantation. There are numerous benefits to incorporating these seven critical factors into lessons such as engagement will induce focus and gain the student s attention, repetition will enable the students to preview, review, and revise the information, input quantity limits the amount of information resulting in a deeper understanding, coherence builds off the student s personal experiences and prior knowledge, timing provides for activity shifts and best suitable scheduling, error correction reinforces the lesson through quality feedback, and emotional states evokes fundamental emotions to initiate self reliance and ... Or wrapping arms around each other for a warm embrace? In Arm Wrestling with My Father, Brad Manning experiences a change in his father s expression of love; from arm wrestling, to a hug. In his story, Manning successfully depicts a boy who admired his father s masculine strength and grows up to also respect his tenderness and gradually learns to replace his father s role. His depiction is displayed through alternative comparison, sentence length, analogy, and diction. Alternative comparison that emphasizes the father s physical massiveness strengthens Manning s admiration and gratitude toward his father. Manning uses an alternative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though Manning fears taking his father s place, he has perception of the imminent role switch and gradually gets prepared for it. In the opening paragraph about starting an arm wrestle, Manning says his father liked to put responsibility on [him]. His choice of using put responsibility on me instead of he gave me the choice to start first illustrates how Manning unconsciously knew his father will someday hand down his responsibility to him. Then in the middle of the essay, he tells a story of how he joined a row club to gain small buildup along the muscle lines, but it didn t seem enough he was still lanky and featureless. Despite his yet juvenile muscles, Manning is putting effort to become a sturdy man like his father. Finally, Manning admits that his and his father s roles have begun to switch. Already being a father of three children, Manning could have chosen to write had begun to switch. But he uses the present progressive tense to emphasize that he is still working on understanding his father s role and there s so much he should work on to become like his admirable father. Without such subtle difference of verb phrase, adjective, and tense, Manning would have failed to bring out his continuous contribution to become like his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Second, critique an original research paper about hydrotropic oligomer conjugated glycol chitosan as a carrier for tumor targeted paclitaxel delivery, which was published in Journal of Controlled Release in 2013 (title: Enhanced drug loading and therapeutic efficacy of hydrotropic oligomer conjugated glycol chitosan nanoparticles for tumor targeted paclitaxel delivery). Chitosan, a linear aminopolysaccharide composed of randomly distributed (1→4) linked D glucosamine and N acetyl D glucosamine units, is obtained by the deacetylation of chitin, a structural element in the exoskeleton of crustaceans, which is the second most abundant natural biopolymer after cellulose (Fig. 1). The most easily exploited sources of chitin are the protective shells of crabs and shrimp. The primary aliphatic amines of chitosan can be protonated under acidic conditions (amine pKa is 6.3). Fig 1. Chemical structure of chitosan Research showed that long circulating macromolecules (polymer drug conjugates) and nano sized particulates (such as micelles and liposomes) accumulate passively at the ... Final Year Project (Heat Sensor) Abstract This report contains an account of my final year project, which was carried out in the two and half year of the Electronic and Electrical of Engineering (EEE) diploma at Institut Teknologi dan Pengurusan Lebuh Victoria. This paper is based on the design and analysis of Heat Sensor with water pump system using cooling fan to reduce the temperature. This project was done to see the operation of heat sensor and how the water pump system and the cooling fan work. This project is divided into two parts namely software and hardware development. Also, it includes two circuits that need to be designed and developed, specifically analogue and digital part. Hence, to prove the circuit works, the simulation of the output need to be shown. ... Review of War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning Essay Review of War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, written by the talented author Chris Hedges, gives us provoking thoughts that are somewhat painful to read but at the same time are quite personal confessions. Chris Hedges, a talented journalist to say the least, brings nearly 15 years of being a foreign correspondent to this book and subjectively concludes how all of his world experiences tie together. Throughout his book, he unifies themes present in all wars he experienced first hand. The most important themes I was able to draw from this book were, war skews reality, dominates culture, seduces society with its heroic attributes, distorts memory, and supports a cause, and allures us by a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So he brings up a great point when talking about sensory war and mythic war. Manipulating sensory war to mythic war creates a skewed reality. The second chapter of the book, The Plague of Nationalism, fits into the myth of war by telling the people of any country that it is o.k. to hate and it is o.k. to kill even though the cause might not be just. He states that: Lurking beneath the surface of every society, including ours, is the passionate yearning for a nationalist cause that exalts us, the kind that war alone is able to deliver. We abandon individual responsibility for a shared, unquestioned communal enterprise, however morally dubious (45). There is a myth within nationalism that it is right. However morally wrong the reasons of war are, the myth of nationalism brain washes us into thinking that we are right. We are doing this for the right reasons and therefore to support our military however morally dubious the cause is. Chris Hedges writes about a general who, during a dispute with Chile, flew his helicopter over the Chilean border in order to piss on Chilean Soil (42). Coming from the view of a person who wasn t involved on either aspect of the war, this sounds a bit over the edge. Chris Hedges talks about how nationalism and racism are almost directly related in war time. People do things they wouldn t normally do under the circumstances. War drives us to do things we wouldn t normally do, thus dominating a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was created by an artist named Edvard Munch in the year of 1893. Munch was a Norwegian artist. This painting has a great significance in Munch s life. This painting was created during the time of Sigmund Freud. I found this very interesting since Munch himself lived a very tough life himself. Munch began to express his tormented inner world through his artistic creations, giving birth to an art style that would later be known as Expressionism (Art Analysis). Expressionism is defined as a form of art in which visual appearances are distorted to express psychological or emotional states (Getlein, 551). I believe that Scream may have been the very beginning of this form of art, since Scream evokes such an emotional response from its viewers. The most painful event in Edvard Munch s life was the premature death of his mother from tuberculosis when he was five years old (Art Analysis). Munch new heartache at such a young age. Children are more susceptible to suffer the detrimental health effects of secondhand smoke because they breathe in more air than adults due to their size and weight. In addition, children are constantly growing and developing. During their development stage, children are more sensitive to the consequences of secondhand smoke, which is ultimately dangerous to their immune and respiratory systems. Furthermore, secondhand smoke is significantly harmful to children with asthma, which is a chronic health condition whose symptoms include coughing, wheezing, and shortness of breath. Children, both with and without asthma, are powerless to protect themselves from the dangers of secondhand smoke, so we the adults have to protect them. Secondhand smoke, also referred to as environmental tobacco smoke, primarily comes from cigars and cigarettes The effects of breathing in secondhand smoke is equivalent to smoking a cigarette. In addition, the chemicals released by cigarettes and cigars contain many poisons, such as benzene, butane, ammonia, toluene, and hydrogen cyanide (American Lung Association). These poisons from secondhand smoking are prevalent in children s surroundings, causing them to breathe these toxins in homes, day cares, and cars. The Negative Effects Of The Media On The Women s Body Image The increasing and widespread use of media, as well as it tremendous ability to influence its audience, has raised various concerns over the effects the media has on its viewers. One of the fields of increasing concerns is the idea that the media portrays unrealistic body images and that these portrayals have negative consequences on their viewers, especially so for women. Women have always been associated with ideals of beauty and a particular body image. The question arises as to how far the media further perpetuate these models and body images, and what are the consequences of these effects? When the media works to perpetuate such ideals of beauty and body image, the majority of the female population, who do not conform to such ideals and body type, fall prey to psychological issues resulting from body dissatisfaction such as depression, self hate, negative moods, and emotions, particularly for the younger women. Such negative emotions, when evoked, can lead to negative consequences and actions for the affected female population, which include drastic, harmful steps such as crash diets, self harm, or cosmetic surgery. What Is Donald Trump s Impact On Canadian Society In 2017 I deem the person with the biggest effect on Canadian society isn t even Canadian.I believe Donald Trump the current President of the United States Of America has made the most influential effect in Canada. The three main reasons he has made such a massive impact is him wanting to stop NAFTA, his impending tariff on soft lumber and his amendments to the immigration laws. To begin I will be discussing Trump s plan to stop NAFTA. Stopping NAFTA would be horrific for Canadian society. Canadian society acquires thousands of items from the U.S that can t be produced in Canada for instance products like oranges, lemons, limes and mangos. All the refugees that are looking to leave their country and find a place to live they can t go the U.S.A so they will most likely come to Canada. Suspension bridges are, a bridge having a deck suspended from cables anchored at their extremities and usually raised on towers (dictionary.com). Due to the fact that suspension bridges are not completely supported throughout the length of the bridge, past bridges were unsafe. After, approximately, an hour of a corkscrew like motion, the bridge collapsed into Puget Sound. This marked a huge turning point in the design of suspension bridges from that point in time to current time. Initially, suspension bridges before 1940 were made of piers, towers, wires, anchorages, and roadways. Piers were the main foundation for the suspension bridges. There usually were two of them, which were made out of cement and were entrenched in ground underneath the body of water that the bridge was spanned across. Towers were built on top of the piers to provide a means of connection for the roadways and wires. Wires were connected to the towers, roadways, and anchorages to provide tension support for the weight of the bridge. The anchorages were large cement platforms that were planted into the ground on either side of the land so that the wires could be connected to it. Lastly, the roadways were the main point of the suspension bridge. They usually were wide enough to provide four lanes of traffic and stretched from one side of the bridge to the other.
