Motivations for Young People to Engage in the MLM-Business...
Modeling Nature Motivations for young people to engage in the MLM business Vemma Nowadays,
having a bachelor s or even a master s degree does not have any guarantee for future employment
(Fevre, 2007). Furthermore, the rates of job dissatisfaction are extremely high (Fevre, 2007).People
are not satisfied with the type of work they do, neither with the people whom they work with or their
working hours (Fevre, 2007). During this time of high rates of job dissatisfaction and low
employment, the concept of running your own business or being your own boss may sound attractive
for many. Due to the rise of social media and interconnection between individuals, especially in the
past 10 years, network marketing seems like a great opportunity for people who are not satisfied with
the job they currently practice. A special case that has attracted my attention in the past months is
Vemma, an online business where the basic idea is that you purchase the specific product, promote it
to others, make sure others buy it through you and get paid as a reward. Although it is accused by
many of being just another corrupt pyramid scheme, around me I observe quite a high number of
young, motivated people joining Vemma and claiming they make money with it. The main question of
this report becomes: what are the motivations for young people to join the Vemma business? In this
paper, I wish to link this phenomenon to Ajzen s Theory of Reasoned Action and Planned Behaviour.

Controversy Surrounding Research And Therapeutic Use Of...
Controversy surrounding research and therapeutic use of stem cells has been a contentious and
socially polarizing matter for a few decades. Arguments lie largely between the scientific community
and the general public, although intragroup disagreements also persist today. These disparate views for
and against stem cells arise out of the bioethical implications of an inchoate innovation, the general
public s tenuous understanding of the underlying technology itself, and sociopolitical ideologies. Due
to the somewhat aged debate, recent revelations and advancements have changed the principle
arguments and should be addressed accordingly. In order to understand arguments against the use of
stem cell technology in the United States, it is crucial to understand the sociopolitical background of
its constituents. America is well known for having a varied and diverse ethnic background composing
of immigrants from around the world, but in 2012, 73% of Americans claimed Christian affiliation (3).
This overwhelming majority of Christianity means that its accompanying religious beliefs emerge in
many aspects of our sociopolitical ideology. Much of the opposition to stem cell technology is
grounded in the Christian tenet of anti abortion, which is the source of embryonic stem cells. Although
embryonic stem cells are still the gold standard in research and therapeutic use, use of non embryonic
stem cells such as induced pluripotent stem cells is rapidly increasing and does not require

Critically Evaluate the Value of Academic and Applied...
In the 21st Century, many problems face the people of today with academic and applied psychology
facing those problems. One of the main problems that people face today is the idea of Globalisation.
Globalisation is an ever growing process around the world, which has been an ever lasting process
throughout time and into the 21st century. Globalisation is described as a process of international
integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas and other aspects of culture
(Al Rodhan 2006). Throughout time, Golbalisation has impacted everyone, from the changing face of
work (Occupational Psychology) through the Industrial Revolution to the more current Globalisation
of hand held devices, such as mobile phones. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The idea of cultural imperialism is supported by Ritzer s notion of McDonaldisation, as it shows the
western ideal of fast food being posed upon countries all over the world, slowly injecting the ideals of
the west into eastern cultures. However, Globalisation cannot be seen in just a negative light, as
through Globalisation, the face of work has changed since the 19th century, and even before that with
the Industrial Revolution. As outlined above, Globalisation can be seen negatively as it may force
people of a culture to accept another ideal, but the idea of Globalisation has also impacted on the
world positively, for example changing the face of work. Through Occupational Psychology (applied
psychology), the work place has implemented changes that has slowly started in the West and made its
way around the world so that people get fair treatment in the work place.
Since the Industrial Revolution, the workplace has changed from materials being hand made to people
now programming machines, lowering the risk and stress of the individual. From then, the workplace
has adapted further with machinery now being limited to factories for the building of cars, and more
office/computer based work now becoming the more prominent. This can be seen as a positive view
on Globalisation as it has reduced risks and stress (as outline before). A further notion is that the
workplace has now become more globalised, with

Characteristics Of Prophet Muhammad SAW
Prophet Muhammad Presentation
Noor Mohamed
12/29/17
Assalamualaikum, my name is Noor Mohamed and I will be talking about the greatest creation of
Allah, Prophet Muhammad SAW. And this is not just coming out of my mouth. Allah told Prophet
Muhammad SAW You are not only my greatest prophet, You are not only my greatest messenger, But
you O Muhammad are the greatest creation I have ever created. Also when Allah mentions the other
prophets in the Quran, he just said the Prophet s names. But when Allah mentions Prophet Muhammad
s name SAW, he sometimes says ‫رسول‬ ‫محمد‬ which means Muhammad SAW is the Messenger. In Surat
Al Fath, verse 29 it says ‫رسول‬ ‫محمد‬. Prophet Muhammad SAW is my role model and should be

They all wanted to have the honor of moving the Stone in the right place. Prophet Muhammad SAW
solved this problem. They put the Black Stone in the middle of the cloth each person carried one
corner of the cloth and put it in the right place. Prophet Muhammad SAW was fair because he let
everybody who wanted to carry the Black Stone, carry it and put it in the right place.
Prophet Muhammad SAW is also very brave. One day there was a big bang in Madinah. A rock hit
from the sky. This was in the middle of the night and for the people living there, this was scary
because they never heard of big bangs. But Prophet Muhammad SAW being the brave man that he is,
went riding on a horse without a saddle to see what had happened. He came back and told the people
that everything was ok.
Prophet Muhammad SAW was VERY trustworthy. One day people from his village went to his house
to kill him (because they hated his message). When they entered his home to kill him, they found
Prophet Muhammad SAW cousin, Ali RA. Prophet Muhammad SAW left Ali RA when he escaped for
one reason and one reason only. To give those people their valuables and money back. But they never
thought to go to Prophet Muhammad SAW and tell him to give them their money back because they
trusted him and because they knew he was the most trustworthy person in Mecca.

Pyramid Schemes
Scams are happening all around us, and we often don t even notice them. Pyramid schemes are very
harmful towards investors, and are hard to watch out for unless you know exactly what they are, why
they fail, the effect of the failure, common victims, how to avoid them, and how to prevent them from
spreading. More individuals are hurt than are helped when dealing with these scams. Individuals
should be more informed about pyramid schemes, because they can be easily disguised.
Participating in scams, will more than likely lead to a loss in money. A pyramid scheme is a get rich

These schemes can also hurt the economy because of the loans taken out to pay off for the starter kits
needed to recruit new members. If the scheme collapses, individuals could fall into poverty and lose
their possessions. Relationships could also be broken if people start recruiting friends and/or spouses
into the scheme. Pyramid schemes have caused divorces and suicides because of the broken trust
between the bonds.
Select victims are usually chosen for pyramid schemes. Individuals with certain types of personalities
are more likely to get drawn into a scheme. One common target for scammers, says Swierczynski, is
the easygoing people pleaser . It s the kind of person who would rather buy an entire new sump pump
system than insult a stranger (Hobson). In this case, it pays not to be so friendly and to stand up for
yourself by saying no (Hobson). Con artists are good at figuring out what pushes an individual off the
edge, and they use that against him/her. Individuals, who are lonely, vulnerable, or desperate, make
scamming more accessible. People in dire straits are also very vulnerable to scams (Hobson). Those
who are vulnerable might have recently had a tragic death in the family or are in uncontrollable debt
(Hobson). Leaders of these schemes also look for people who wear their heart and brain on their
sleeve (Hobson). Individuals who talk about what s going on in their lives with people they don t

Black Space Research Paper
Editor s Note
The 2016 edition of the Harvard Journal of African American Public Policy is includes several
articles, commentaries and interviews that illuminate the movement to establish a Black identity,
Black Space, within institutions where Black visibility and input is limited if it exists at all.
The Politics of Black Space theme of the publication chronicles the movement of Black student and
progressive faculty leadership to form, and, by means necessary, force accountability of institutional
practices that fail to accept responsibility for the intersectional oppression, racially void curriculums,
colorblind ideologies, and the hypocrisy of institutional claims that have a public face that they see a

It took 400 years before slaves gained basic freedoms including the right to vote. It was another 100

Students have always disrupted the status quo and compelling social and institutional change. The
Black Space and Black Lives Matter movements are compared by some to the Black Power
Movement, and its proponents including the Student Non violent Coordinating Committee, (SNCC).
SNCC s community organizing and activism made them foremost and successful contributors in the

campuses. Students demonstrated successfully in support of Civil Rights, opposition to the war in
Vietnam, institutional divestment of South Africa holdings, and establishing African American Studies

I Needed For The State And The Restoration Of The Monarchy
When it came to reforming her own government, she made sure to surround herself with those that
actually had the best interest of the territories in mind. Some of those she credited with her success as
a ruler were, Johann Christoph von Bartenstein, Count Friedrich Wilhelm von Haugwitz, Emanuel
Silva Tarouca, and Ignaz von Koch. She wrote, Bartenstein and Haugwitz gave me what I needed for
the State and the preservation of the Monarchy. Tarouca and Koch supplied me with consolation,

Maria Theresa was able to keep her kingdom alive during the beginning of her unexperienced reign.

Military Maria Theresa, as inexperienced as she was, was able to see the lack of intelligence in the
organization of her military forces, less than ten years into her rule. She wrote, Each unit had a
different order of marching, a different drill, etc. One practiced rapid fire, another slow. The same
words of command were differently interpreted in each unit, and it is really no wonder that ten years
before my accession the Emperor as defeated every time, and the subsequent state of the army beggars
description. She was able to see, early on, that not only did she need a better trained military force, but
she also needed a larger force. Through calibration with her advisors, mostly Haugwitz, she was able
to obtain the men and money to have an appropriate military force. Public Opinion
Maria Theresa was generally well liked as she accomplished much for her people. In 1749, in a letter
addressed to Fräulein Thomasius, Luise Gottsched spoke of her most amazing visit with Maria
Theresa. She starts by saying, Yes, I have seen her, the greatest among women. She who, in herself, is

important that I understood the concept myself. The Occupational Health and Safety Legislation

company is proud of the strong commitment that they have to promoting health and safety in the
workplace, and the prevention of injury and illness. In the company the Human Resources and
management are responsible for establishing and maintaining health and safety programs, and
supervisors are responsible for ensuring that the employees are complying with the safe work
procedures that have been put in place. Multiple times a year the company revises and updates the
Occupational Health and Safety program. Records are also kept on each employee when they not only
receive training, but when they violate a safety procedure. In these cases the necessary disciplinary
action is taken. The other large company (Company 2) that I interviewed proved to be very similar in
their commitment to providing a safe and healthy workplace for their employees, even though they are
in a different sector in this case retail. Though vastly different in the types of services provided, they
shared a common promise on ensuring due diligence. As it is a relatively large retail outlet, they have
a Health and Safety Committee including one manager, and 5 workers. The health and safety

Change is a process that affects individuals and their environments. Some people choose to embrace
change, while others resist it. Macbeth ; the song The Times They Are A Changin and the episode of
the Twilight Zone, A Stop at Willoughby all successfully convey the notion of change and demonstrate
how individuals and societies can embrace or resist change.

Techniques including metaphor and symbolism are used to display the notion of change and attitudes
towards it.
Dylan represents how change can be violent by expressing it as a flood. Floods are known to be
violent, dangerous and natural. The symbolism of the water is also important. In Literature water is
used to represent life, therefore inducing the notion that change is a part of life and inevitable.
Metaphorically change is a flood, waters...have grown...better start swimmin Or you ll sink like a

it, or it will hurt you and pass you by. He who has stalled...gets hurt , a stark warning about the

Church On Wheels, Breaking Bread Soup Kitchen. Every night Monday through Friday Breaking
Bread opens its doors to the community and provides a meal at no cost. Their mission statement is
simple: To carry the gospel of the Lord through feeding the hungry and helping those in need. With
this Christ like love to His people, every night employees and volunteers come together to provide a
meal that does not only feed them physically but nourishes the soul of everyone that enters the doors.
Within the city of Midland, Texas you will find a diverse culture and community. Due to the recent oil
boom, many families found themselves struggling to put a meal on the table. Breaking Bread saw the
need in the community to open the doors every night to see that no one would go hungry in our town.

The Lemon Test, which was created in a case called Lemon V. Kurtzman, consists of three prongs
(Speich 275). They are that governmental action be supported by a secular purpose, that it not have the
principal or primary effect of advancing or inhibiting religion, and that it not foster an excessive
governmental entanglement with religion. (qtd. in Conkle). In other words, the first prong requires the
court to question the intent of the government or group in charge of creating the policy; the second
prong asks the court to determine the result of the policy and its effects on religion, and the last prong
asks the court to not complicate the dynamic of the church and the state (Speich 275). The
Endorsement test is used after the first two prongs of the lemon test have been verified. First occurring
in Lynch V. Donnelly, the Endorsement test states that the government cannot endorse, favor, promote,
or prefer any religious belief or practice (Speich 277). The test asks the judges if the policy in question
merely looks like it endorses religion. The Coercion test, which is sometimes used instead of the
lemon test such as in Lee v. Weisman case, asks if the policy tricks members of the minority or
dissenting religion into participating (Schweitzer; Speich 278).

Shelley, Mary-Justice And Injustice In Frankenstein By...
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley has many main ideas, whether it s about injustice, feminism, parental
responsibility, the danger of too much knowledge, the cost of revenge, the relationship between man
and God, etc., they all serve a certain purpose. Out of all of those main ideas, the one that sticks out
the most is injustice. Injustice comes from the Latin phrase that represents not right , and it is the
practice of being unjust or unfair (Injustice Dictionary Definition). Throughout the book, Mary
Shelley wanted to show that injustice is caused due to the fear of what is different ( Shelley, Mary
Justice and Injustice ). Many characters in this story all have different characteristics, whether it is due
to their look, personality, childhood, current situations, and more. A lot of the characteristics that differ
from each other have led to many injustice situations. Even though injustice might not always be bad,
many examples of unnecessary injustice are shown throughout Frankenstein due to undeserving
punishment, violating the rights of others, and unfair treatment. Out of all ways that injustice can be
shown within this novel, a very important part of it is unfair treatment. The first main example of
unfair treatment that is shown in this book is when Victor abandons the monster he creates. Right after
Victor successes in bring the creature to life, he describes him as being beautiful with his yellow skin,
lustrous black, and flowing hair , and teeth of pearly whiteness (Shelley 42). Victor is full of horror
and becomes unable to love it, so he turns his back to it and runs away from him. As a new living
creature, this monster just wanted the love and comfort of his own creator and other humans, but
instead, he is left with the unfair treatment of being abandoned by the one thing that should have stuck
by his side. Another example of unfair treatment is shown in chapter 14. In this chapter readers learn
about the love story of Safie and Felix. The two young lovers fell quickly in love with each other and
planned to get married. Soon after, Safie s father had figured out about Felix being a religion, which is
the opposite of Safie s family. The father hated the concept of his beloved daughter

Essay On The Voting Rights Act Of 1965
The voting rights act of 1965 was designed to prohibit discrimination based on race, and requires
certain jurisdictions to prove bilingual assistance to language minority voters. The act banned the use
of literacy tests, provided for federal oversight of voter registration in areas where less than 50 percent
of the nonwhite population had not registered to vote. Still voting rights gave African American voters
the legal means to challenge voting restrictions and vastly improved voter turnout. In Mississippi
alone, voter turnout among blacks increased from 6 percent in 1964 to 59 percent in 1969. When the
law was first passed, they made the blacks take a test to be able to vote. (history.com). Since 1965 the

Porsche change consumer attitudes toward the brand?
There s obviously the group of people that can afford a Porsche, and a group of people that can t

they can t afford a Porsche. And these specific people can irritate themselves about the people that can
afford a Porsche, just to show off or use it as a reflection of their self image Porsche makes cars that
are obviously not for everyone, they are very expensive. Porsche focuses itself on a specific market.
Rich people. But, Porsche can change consumer attitudes towards the brand. In the 1970s came
Porsche 914, this car was a lot cheaper than the 911 and that meant that a Porsche could also be
affordable for a different class of people, what meant that their attitude towards the brand could

Analysis Of The Poem Summer By Josiah Conder
Summer by Josiah Conder , is describe as an a completely opposite Summer than the one everyone is
familiar with. When thinking of the summer, thoughts of heat, vacation, and fun are usually associated
with it. Conder describes the Summer as being a miserable time, where the skies are gray and gloomy.
The sonnet itself is English/Shakespearean model which makes it easier for Conder to express
different ideas in each quatrain but still relate them. Also Conder was a poet during the Romantic era
where any feeling could be expressed towards anything. And that is what Conder does when
describing the Summer. In the poem the speaker is having a conversation with no one , while they
describe the Summer. Conder uses diction, imagery, alliteration and metaphor to help convey the idea
that the Summer is not as fun and appealing. Throughout various lines in the poem Conder chooses
very specific words to use throughout the poem. In the second line of the first quatrain of the poem
while describing the sky. The speaker says The pale grey skies/ A sort of dull and dubious and lustre (1
2). The words dubious and lustre give a connotation of doubtful and shine. The speaker is describing
the sky as of having a boring and doubtful glow or shine in the grey sky. Continuing in the third and
fourth line of the first quatrain the speaker says Nature lies/ Slumbering and gazing on me in her sleep
(3 4). The word slumbering has a connotation of sleeping. So what the speaker is saying in

film is no exception. The film presents the culture of China during the Qin Dynasty through many
different components. The costume, setting and music present the time period perfectly. Yimou also

Examples Of Narcissism In The Fountainhead
The Fountainhead, Who s the happiest? In The Fountainhead, we see Rand s main character, Howard
Roark, and his ensemble of supporting characters go through different forms of what is known as
rational objectivism and it s antithesis, more specifically, egoism, altruism, and narcissism. In Aristotle
s Proud Man, we see characteristics of narcissism in the type of proud man Aristotle describes, most
specifically that a proud man thinks himself to be, and is, worthy of great things. However, these
people are also quick to show hatred, which certainly doesn t fit the idea of happiness. In The
Fountainhead we see both Roark and Dominique, good representations of both Egoism and altruism.
In order to judge who of the three types is the most productive and happiest, one could be best suited
to look at the outlooks on life and the overall moral of the characters they represent. ... Show more

his own purpose. This is perhaps best laid out in Chapter three, ...I love this earth. That s all I love. I

is giving his reasoning for becoming an architect in life, showing purpose, and gives a clear goal, he

Mad Men Essay
The influence of the media on women is not unknown, but it was especially prevalent in the 1960s.
According to David Croteau and William Hoynes, both professors of sociology, Media images of
women and men reflect and reproduce a whole set of stereotypical but changing gender roles (quoted
in Mahrdt 1) and, as society changes and opinions are altered, television shows adapt. However, the
television show Mad Men is unique because it does not show life today, but the life of the 1960s. It
shows what life was like for the women who lived during a time when the feminine mystique
controlled society.
While Mad Men may seem to be just another sexist show dominated by chauvinist men and
submissive women, it is, in fact, a time piece. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Betty is a college graduate who worked as a model for a short time before marrying Don. Soon after
they married, Betty gave birth to their two children. The episode The Wheel shows that Betty and Don
were happy at first, but their current life is everything but content. Betty does not know why she is
unhappy though. All she knows is that she should be happy. The women of this time were told their
role was to seek fulfillment as wives and mothers (Friedan 15). However, Betty Draper is miserable,
bored, and lonely. In episode two of season one, Ladies Room, Betty is shown losing control of her
hands while driving. While Betty is unnerved and scared, this ailment was not uncommon for
housewives. Betty is told that losing control of her hands is not a physical abnormality, but a
psychological one. During this time, Freud and many others had noticed this problem. Unfortunately,
according to Dr. Stephanie Newman, a psychoanalyst from New York, most of them believed this
disorder was merely repressed sexual impulses (Newman 94). While this theory was partly right,
Betty s problem was an issue of emotions not being expressed: it had nothing to do with sex and
having more sex would not cure her. Her problem was a conversion symptom, so named because the
disorder arises when unacceptable emotions are unconsciously turned into something physical
(Newman 96). This was not caused by suppressed sexual emotions; but from having to force down the

Strength In Macbeth
A womans greatest strength is her emotion, but it is also her greatest weakness. David Smith, an
abstract art designer, tells of how women are very strong, but at the same time the greatest strength
leads to weakness. Women in Macbeth by Shakespeare often are portrayed as strong characters that
have a leading role in most of the story. Firstly, lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth to kill the king and
take what is his, and she lays out the whole plan to do so. Secondly, lady Macduff stands up the her
husband and refuses to be forced out. Finally, the Witches control Macbeth is a weird Backseat kind of

The witches created the whole story with the prophecies that they gave. In their prophecies, All hail
macbeth, thou shalt be king hereafter. The witches told macbeth that he will be the king. This prompts
Macbeth to go out and kill the king to take over, making the witches a strong persuasive force in this
play. Furthermore, the witches control the fate just by the words they speak. The witches talked of
how macbeth would be slain by an unnatural born man, and be was slain by Macduff who was a
csection. They control every part of the story and are very strong characters who play an important
role. The Witches play a very strong role in Macbeth and prove that women are strong characters. The
women in Macbeth are very strong and very important to the overall story. Primarily, Lady Macbeth
leads Macbeth to do everything he did and played an important role in planning it out. Secondly, Lady
Macduff stood up to her husband and refused to be forced out of her home. Finally, the witches led the

What Sets Napa Valley Apart
Much of California s wine regions parallel in their respective histories. However, what sets Napa
Valley apart is its rich collection of individual growers and producers dedicated to furthering the
reputation of the region from the very beginning. Importantly, its unique location provides ecological
serenity for the production of wine from its expansive variety of soils to the balancing effect of its
climate.
The history of Napa Valley and many vineyard growing areas of California are fraught with a
tumultuous history. Economic and ecological disasters from its birth in the mid 1850s through the 21st
century have at times ebbed the growth of the region. However, various vineyards and producers

Oftentimes, wineries would re use empty wine bottles. Shipping was another problem for Napa Valley
and California wine in general. Expensive shipping resulted in higher prices for bottles. Principal
markets in the East Coast preferred wines from France and Italy because they were cheaper than
California wines (Leve).
Today, the Napa Valley Vintners trade association consists of hundreds of wineries working together to
improve the region. This sense of collection has always been a part of Napa s history. During the late
1870s, Charles Krug, Henry Pellet, and Seneca Ewer created the St. Helena Viticultural Club where
they agreed to remove the Mission grapes and plant French and Italian grape varieties... (Leve). This
was greatly improved Napa and California s wine industries. However, a series of climatic events
would soon devastate the region.
The first of these events was the spread of Phylloxera, which had destroyed much of Europe s
vineyards. Napa s vineyards remedied this by grafting local rootstocks to their vinifera vines. In a way,
Phylloxera s devastating effect on Europe, helped Napa Valley and American vineyards in general.
Tariffs levied against French wine in 1879 coupled with the small production of European wines, due
to the ravages of Phylloxera made California wines more popular than ever. (Leve).

Examples Of Stoicism In The Aeneid
In the Aeneid by Vergil, the Roman values of Stoicism, dutifulness, and patriotism are reflected
through the main characters actions and beliefs, such as Aeneas s abandonment of Dido and his speech
of encouragement to his soldiers. In Roman philosophy, Stoicism was valued because it emphasized
following duty over giving into emotion. Vergil portrays this belief consistently throughout the Aeneid
through the characters actions. The first instance of Stoicism is when Aeneas and his crew are
shipwrecked in Carthage. Aeneas states, Now call back your courage, and have done with fear and
sorrow. Some day, perhaps, remembering even this will be a pleasure (1.275 278). Although Aeneas

The Romans established a Republic as their form of government because they believed that all citizens
should actively participate in the political aspect of society as a duty to their country. Vergil highlights
the Roman value of dutifulness throughout his entire epic. For example, Aeneas s quest is based upon
his duty to the Trojan people and his descendants, who are destined to become formidable leaders.
Aeneas leaves Troy to construct a new empire that will continue to build upon the Trojan legacy. He
endures numerous calamities and misfortunes throughout his journey but always honors his duty to the
gods and his people. Vergil further enhances his portrayal of the Roman value of duty through King
Latinus. Although his daughter, Lavinia, has many suitors around his kingdom, a prophecy from the
Oracle of Faunus reveals to him that she is destined to marry a foreigner. At first, Latinus is dutiful
and honors the gods wishes, but his lack of fortitude in standing up to his wife and other suitors leads
to him neglecting his duty. This results in a major war and his country s ultimate

Lehman Case Study Writeup Essay

Lewis Glucksman who scrapped his way up through Lehman s unprestigious but increasingly
profitable stock and bond trading department, was able to take control of the firm after a bitter power
struggle against its former CEO, Peter Peterson. Glucksman was victorious in the end as he proved
himself to be an indispensible part of Lehman s operations.
During the times leading up to the power struggle, the power dynamic within Lehman was steadily
shifting as trading profits became increasingly more important to Lehman versus traditional
investment banking profits. Thus, Glucksman was able to step into the spot light and Peterson became
more expendable. Peter Peterson s core ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Historically this has always been a formula for disaster. Justifications for the duality were
unconvincing. Peterson was suppose to be the external client facing image of the company whereas
Glucksman was suppose to be the internal executioner of operations. The division of duties may seem
clear but it does not lead to a clear division of power. At the very top of a major Wall Street company,
power must be clearly defined and completely authoritative. If it is not, then human nature and the
nature of an organization will eventually find a way to define power. In this case, power was defined
through duties and internal duties won over external duties.
Also contributing to the outcome of the power struggle were structural features that existed across the
financial industry. The whole industry is governed and motivated by profits generated through
individual contribution irrespective of the firm s net performance. This particular industry structure
results in the classic inter departmental tensions to maximize the individual department s profits. To a
certain extent, Lehman had to comply with rest of the companies by creating the isolated departmental
structure to maintain its top performers. As a result, when a department creates 60 80% of the firm s
profit, the power shifts to the department making the most money. Lehman could have created an
alternate compensation strategy to reduce the potential for power struggle between the departments.

Living On Campus Vs College Essay
One of the biggest choices a student who has graduated high school and is ready to enroll in college
must make is whether they should go away to school or live at home and drive to classes. Everyone
has a different opinion on this decision, and it is based on the diverse lifestyles that people live. Most
students who commute to school are told that they are not having the full college experience since
they do not live on campus and spend more time at home. On the other hand, those who live on
campus are told that they are wasting their money and they will not be giving the proper focus to their
studies. Both sides of the argument have positives and negatives, so it is difficult to determine which
one is the best for their individual life style. Commuting to school and living on campus have several
similarities and differences they share, such as social, individual, and economical effects. College is
the place where most students meet their lifelong friends and even their future spouses, so the social
impact on each individual is tremendous. Some students, both commuters and those who stay on
campus, choose to isolate themselves from others and do not attempt to be involved on campus or
make any friends. This is a personal decision that the individual could make in either living situation
since the same opportunities are available for all students. Even with the equal opportunity to make
friends, commuters are less likely to be involved in campus activities and only talk

Walt Whitman Metaphor
Katie Leutzinger December 11, 2017 ENG 228 On Wisdom and Knowledge Walt Whitman s poem
When I Heard the Learn d Astronomer seeks to provide a brief exploration of the contrast between
wisdom and knowledge. Whitman uses numerous poetic devices and syllable stresses to conclude his
intended theme of the poem. Along with the structure, he implements purposeful character and setting
development within the eight lines of the poem. Although short in length, this work leaves much to be
discovered. Like in many of his other poems, Whitman uses free verse in this short literary work. His
free verse style in this one stanza is written without a specific pattern of rhyme or meter. Innovation
flows through the lines as Whitman is unpredictable with his rhythm. In the eight lines (one stanza) of
this poem, he creates an anecdotal feel by having the lines vary in length and giving variety to the
stressed and unstressed syllables. For example, the first two lines stress the long beat on the third
syllable with the words heard (line 1) and proof (line 2), whereas the third line stresses the fourth
syllable with shown (line 3). Then continues to the fourth line to stress the long beat on the second
syllable using a comma: When I, (line 4). These first four lines act as a setup while the speaker recalls
listening to the astronomer s lecture. Whitman demonstrates anaphora in the poem by having each line
in this setup begin with the word When to illustrate to the reader that the speaker is evoking a prior
experience. Whitman utilizes multiple contractions in this work, such as learn d , wander d , and look
d (lines 1,6,8) to exploit the illiteracy of the speaker. The contraction look d is particularly confusing
because it is already a one syllable word. The last four lines of the poem serve to describe the speaker
s reaction to the poem and propose the lesson of the poem. Though this poem is quite short, Whitman
uses several devices to construct a vivid description of the setting. At first, he describes the classroom
in which the astronomer teaches to be crowded with equations and figures. The lecture hall is filled
with people who are eager to learn about the stars or just theories about the stars

Sociological Perspective In The Matrix
The Matrix, released in 1999, is a science fiction action film that depicts a dystopian future. In this
reality, what is perceived by humans is only a computer simulated reality called The Matrix which was
created in order to sustain human delusion while their bodies were used as an energy source by
machines. The main character, computer hacker Neo (played by Keanu Reeves, respectively) is drawn
into rebellion against the machines once he is united with those that have been freed from the false
reality. The characters, suffering from the reality of a broken illusion, make specific choices and
decisions which can be explained or validated by sociological perspectives discussed by Berger. First
off, The Matrix can be defined as a social institution with the ability to give those that live within the
false reality a fulfilled existence and exert social control over it s residing victims. Second, the
betrayal of Cypher touches upon the concept of sociological knowledge; specifically, the reference
group ideology. Lastly, Neo s previous feelings of unease and change of character after he joins
Morpheus rebellion shows the importance a reference group can have on the overall personality and
ideology of a person. Therefore, the Sociological Perspective understands the personalities, actions,
and story of the movie The Matrix in a variety of ways.
First off, the creation of the Matrix functions as an institution through the ability to give those who
reside within the fantasy

A Serious Talk By Raymond Carver
Deepak Chopra once said, In the process of letting go, you will lose many things from the past, but
you will find yourself. In A Serious Talk by Raymond Carver, the reader observed tension due to the
absence of progression in developing a serious conversation. This conversation was planned by Burt,
the protagonist of this story, to relieve the troublesome relationship between him and his ex wife, Vera.
By letting go, Burt could release portions of his past that included his family; although, he could move
on to be happy and find his true meaning in life. Burt should be for the process of letting go because it
would allow him to find his true presence in life, eradicate the past which holds him down and reveal
the path of his future. The feeling of not understanding your presence in life can be frustrating and
sometimes leads to mental issues. By Burt trying to start a serious conversation with Vera, he thought
it may resolve problems rather than resulting in a fight. Burt does not know his place in life due to his
lack of letting go of Vera and his kids, which creates stress for him. Burt showed his lack of releasing
them from his life by saying, I want to apologize to you for last night. I want to apologize to the kids,
too (123). By Burt expressing his sorrow to Vera, one might say he has lost his place in life. It shows
his desperation to find people who love him, however he is doing this incorrectly because he keeps

Managing Team Conflict
Managing Team Conflict
Introduction
Teams are considered the catalyst and solution to the challenge of attaining very complex, highly
integrated goals and objectives across an enterprise. The emphasis on teams is so significant today that
it is common to find their use across broad geographic distances, ensuring an organization has access
to the best talent globally regardless of location. This is the concept of virtual teams, and their
continual and rapid adoption is reordering the management and leadership landscape in many
organizations today (Ayoko, Konrad, Boyle, 2012). The existence of virtual teams is also completely
changing the nature of team conflict as well (Purvanova, Bono, 2009). The intent of this analysis is to
evaluate the best practices leaders can use to bring change into their organizations successfully, while
also using management and leadership strategies to prevent and minimize conflict. The techniques that
have proven successful in minimizing conflict are also discussed.
Organizational Change, Team Conflict Management and Resolution
The strongest catalyst that leads to successful change management over time is the commitment from
a leader within the organization to support the transition and mitigate the negative effect on employees
(Felfe, Schyns, 2004). This is continually seen in the context of how transformational leaders are
excellent at being examples of how an organization needs to change by showing through their own
activity that a

In the 1920s and 1930s intellectuals and statesmen in Latin America began to adopt ideologies of race
mixture in an effort to advance nation building projects based on notions of inclusion and racial
equality. These notions which where said to promote racial inclusivity included mestizaje. The
ideology of mestizaje often times enabled exclusion through racial terms and marginalization. In order
to grasp how such an ideology has created a paradoxical and contradictory outcome politically,
economically, and socially for black communities in Latin America one must draw from real world
examples. Two examples of Latin American countries that have experienced marginalization of their
black communities are Columbia and Mexico. Before one can enter a conversation on the process
through which black communities are marginalized in Latin America it is essential to define a few
terms. First one must define what Latin America encompasses. Latin America s dictionary definition is
that it is the part of the American Continents South of the United States in which Spanish, Portuguese,
or French is officially spoken. However, Latin America also has an ideological meaning that was
defined in lecture by Professor Campos as as an idea thus signified a restoration of western
civilization in the Americas . The next term that one must define is mestizaje is ideologies of national
identity that celebrated race mixture as an important component of regional and national culture. Race

Pascal s Triangle And The Triangle
Pascal s Triangle is named after the seventeenth century mathematician and philosopher, Blaise
Pascal. However, several other mathematicians knew about and utilized the triangle before Pascal s
birth in 1623. In the twelfth century, both Persian and Chinese mathematicians were trying to create an
arithmetical triangle that is easy to construct and that gives the coefficients of the expansion of the
algebraic expression expression (a + b)n for different integer values of n. Pascal s Triangle was first
discovered by Chinese mathematician, Yang Hui, and rediscovered 500 years later by the French
mathematician, Blaise Pascal (1623 62). The Chinese mathematician, Chu Shih Chieh, depicted the
triangle and indicated its use in providing coefficients for the binomial expansion of (a + b)n in his
1303 treatise The Precious Mirror of the Four Elements. Chinese mathematician, Chia Hsien (circa
1050) used the triangle to extract square and cube roots of numbers. In addition, after Chia Hsien s
discovery of the relationship between extracting roots and the binomial coefficients of the triangle,
work continued on this topic by several Chinese algebraists to solve higher than cubic equations.
Pascal s work on the triangle emanated from the popularity of gambling. The triangle came to be
known as Pascal s Triangle with Blaise Pascal s completion of Traité du triangle arithmétique in 1654.
Making use of the already known array of binomial coefficients, Blaise Pascal developed many of the

Comparative Fugal Analysis
The fugue is often regarded as a genre defined by strict procedural guidelines. It is notable that three
historically important composers, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 1750), Georg Friedrich Handel (1685
1759), and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 1791), all employed a closely related fugue subject in
three different works. An analysis of each of these works individually, and a comparison of these
works collectively reveal numerous latent and salient features, and a reflection of the composers style
within these works. Analyses also provide an outlook into the fluidity in certain aspects and rigidity in
others of the form itself, reflected historically. The three composers analyzed fall closely together in
history. J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel were contemporaries, whereas Mozart was born six years after
Bach s death and three years before Handel s death. Analytically, the angularity of these similar fugue
subjects presupposes a treatment regardless of the composer. Because of the shared intervallic content
among the subjects of these fugues, despite being written by several different composers, a surprising
number of similarities arise. Therefore, it is reasonable to assert that compositional choices made in
the construction of the fugue subjects limit the number of results possible.
This analysis will use the A minor fugue from of J.S. Bach s The Well Tempered Clavier, Book 2 G.F.

A Rhetorical Analysis Of The Text
Dear Subaru: A Personal Letter to Subaru This ad from the magazine Backpacker shows off a letter
from a Subaru owner, along with a photo of a Subaru Outback on a snowy road labelled OUTBACK
RD . All the elements in this ad help to promote three iconic ideas about Subaru and the cars that they
make. The trees are heavily weighed down with snow as if a huge blizzard has passed through the
area. The ground and road are also covered with several feet of snow. This suggests to the viewer that
the Subaru Outback performs very well in the snow and on extreme terrains in general. Secondly the
whole ad is dominated by giant pine trees and forest. The tops of the trees are not even visible. This
suggests that someone who owns a Subaru Outback also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They also try to express the love that owners have for their cars by exhibiting a personal letter from a
dear customer. It is an important detail that the owner wrote this letter and not a just a Subaru
employee in charge of advertisement. It shows that the customers actually love their cars enough to
write a letter and send a photo. In the letter the woman says she is on her sixth Subaru vehicle. She
loves the cars so much that she has exclusively bought them for a long time. The woman in the letter
then goes on to say that she named the road that enters her property OUTBACK RD after her new car.
Someone has to really love their car to name a road after it. Everyone who passes by knows that they
are a proud owner of a Subaru Outback. Then she explains that the sign was so popular it had already
been stolen. This suggests that there is a vast community of people that love Subaru Outbacks. Even in
a seemingly remote and rural area there are people who want to steal her sign. She then ends the letter
with a P.S. that says Love. It s what makes a Subaru, a Subaru. . This is the iconic phrase of Subaru
that concludes all of their advertisements. The ad is then drawn to a close with an open handed
invitation to other Subaru owners to share their own stories. This makes it feel like Subaru really cares
about how their customers feel about their cars and want to hear from them. This is a

Significant Events In My Life In Sacramento, California
Everyone has unique situations or events that happen in their life that lead to the kind of person they
later become. I was born in Sacramento, California. In Sacramento, I grew up with many different
types of people with many different struggles that I didn t even realize until I became older. Even
though the outside neighborhoods near me were battling gang violence, drugs, and students who never
went to school. My family lived a very simple life, with two dogs, a big house, and a nice pool in
white picket fence type of neighborhood. Inside the house though, was very different. My sisters had
friends living with us and family was constantly in and out. My mother also decided to create a home
for two young adults in our guest room, which totaled

Some companies try to implement new ideas and ways to increase efficiency and productivity in the
workplace. This is a great idea for companies to increase the output of the product or service they are
performing for the consumers. However, not everything goes so well when implementing new ideas.
There are hardships that need to be overcome, the costs of implementing a new system can be
overwhelming at first, and many others. I will describe to you some of the hardships of adding new
groupware to a system that is already in place. Also have you ever wondered what a wiki does or what
it could do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can cause problems for the company with the loss of potentially critical information that was
needed for a project. As you can see there are many problems that can unravel just from using
groupware. These problems are extreme but a good example is myself at work. I work for the Navy in
a hospital for a basic training for the Marine Corps. We use groupware as a form for a follow up log to
determine which patients need to come back and on which day for their personal safety. Anyone that
works in the hospital has access to this log. If someone was to go into it and delete the information it
becomes potentially dangerous for the people involved in being erased if we cannot have them come
back in. Luckily this does not happen, however not everybody likes the system and they do not
implement the peoples name into the system. This can cause the superiors to get upset when it is not
up to date than someone gets in trouble causing more work for everyone else in the clinic. It also
reduces the morale of all the workers that do remember to add the names but now have to work harder
because someone did not do their job. Even with all of these challenges it allows us to be more
effective as a clinic and our efficiency is better with a lot less people being missed in coming in for a
follow up. A scorecard is a type of report that displays a collection of key performance indicators
together with performance targets for each key performance indicators. These are usually a

Proposition 203
Federal and state laws both govern the educational system in the United States, this includes laws
regarding how English Language Learners (ELLs) are instructed. The federal law, No Child Left
Behind Act (NCLB), allows schools to decide the method to use for teaching ELLs, but it does not
provide federal support for bilingual education programs, (Peregoy Boyle (2016). Reading, Writing
and Learning in ESL. page 29) . Bilingual education, is an instructional approach that teaches at least
some academic content (e.g., reading or science) in the native language in addition to teaching
students academic content in English (Goldenberg, C. (2008). Teaching English language learners:

For example, bilingual education would allow students to learn English, while continuing to progress
in their main subjects. Students might experience less anxiety about succeeding because they may do
well in learning English and continuing to develop in their core subjects. Another positive aspect of
bilingual education, is the student does not lose their first language and thus becomes truly bilingual.
However, there are cons to the bilingual approach, for example, finding qualified teachers that speak
the various languages, learning English at a much slower pace and possibly being separated from
native English speakers. Structured English Immersion has its pros and cons as well. For instance, SEI
students will learn English at a much faster rate because they are hearing it much more, but there is a
risk that they may fall behind in their core studies. Both sides have been able to show studies that
support their argument, but it is reasonable to assume that the studies are difficult to prove because
there are many different factors that could affect the success of either

  • 2. Motivations for Young People to Engage in the MLM-Business... Modeling Nature Motivations for young people to engage in the MLM business Vemma Nowadays, having a bachelor s or even a master s degree does not have any guarantee for future employment (Fevre, 2007). Furthermore, the rates of job dissatisfaction are extremely high (Fevre, 2007).People are not satisfied with the type of work they do, neither with the people whom they work with or their working hours (Fevre, 2007). During this time of high rates of job dissatisfaction and low employment, the concept of running your own business or being your own boss may sound attractive for many. Due to the rise of social media and interconnection between individuals, especially in the past 10 years, network marketing seems like a great opportunity for people who are not satisfied with the job they currently practice. A special case that has attracted my attention in the past months is Vemma, an online business where the basic idea is that you purchase the specific product, promote it to others, make sure others buy it through you and get paid as a reward. Although it is accused by many of being just another corrupt pyramid scheme, around me I observe quite a high number of young, motivated people joining Vemma and claiming they make money with it. The main question of this report becomes: what are the motivations for young people to join the Vemma business? In this paper, I wish to link this phenomenon to Ajzen s Theory of Reasoned Action and Planned Behaviour. Firstly, in order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Controversy Surrounding Research And Therapeutic Use Of... Controversy surrounding research and therapeutic use of stem cells has been a contentious and socially polarizing matter for a few decades. Arguments lie largely between the scientific community and the general public, although intragroup disagreements also persist today. These disparate views for and against stem cells arise out of the bioethical implications of an inchoate innovation, the general public s tenuous understanding of the underlying technology itself, and sociopolitical ideologies. Due to the somewhat aged debate, recent revelations and advancements have changed the principle arguments and should be addressed accordingly. In order to understand arguments against the use of stem cell technology in the United States, it is crucial to understand the sociopolitical background of its constituents. America is well known for having a varied and diverse ethnic background composing of immigrants from around the world, but in 2012, 73% of Americans claimed Christian affiliation (3). This overwhelming majority of Christianity means that its accompanying religious beliefs emerge in many aspects of our sociopolitical ideology. Much of the opposition to stem cell technology is grounded in the Christian tenet of anti abortion, which is the source of embryonic stem cells. Although embryonic stem cells are still the gold standard in research and therapeutic use, use of non embryonic stem cells such as induced pluripotent stem cells is rapidly increasing and does not require ... • 4. Critically Evaluate the Value of Academic and Applied... In the 21st Century, many problems face the people of today with academic and applied psychology facing those problems. One of the main problems that people face today is the idea of Globalisation. Globalisation is an ever growing process around the world, which has been an ever lasting process throughout time and into the 21st century. Globalisation is described as a process of international integration arising from the interchange of world views, products, ideas and other aspects of culture (Al Rodhan 2006). Throughout time, Golbalisation has impacted everyone, from the changing face of work (Occupational Psychology) through the Industrial Revolution to the more current Globalisation of hand held devices, such as mobile phones. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The idea of cultural imperialism is supported by Ritzer s notion of McDonaldisation, as it shows the western ideal of fast food being posed upon countries all over the world, slowly injecting the ideals of the west into eastern cultures. However, Globalisation cannot be seen in just a negative light, as through Globalisation, the face of work has changed since the 19th century, and even before that with the Industrial Revolution. As outlined above, Globalisation can be seen negatively as it may force people of a culture to accept another ideal, but the idea of Globalisation has also impacted on the world positively, for example changing the face of work. Through Occupational Psychology (applied psychology), the work place has implemented changes that has slowly started in the West and made its way around the world so that people get fair treatment in the work place. Since the Industrial Revolution, the workplace has changed from materials being hand made to people now programming machines, lowering the risk and stress of the individual. From then, the workplace has adapted further with machinery now being limited to factories for the building of cars, and more office/computer based work now becoming the more prominent. This can be seen as a positive view on Globalisation as it has reduced risks and stress (as outline before). A further notion is that the workplace has now become more globalised, with ... They are that governmental action be supported by a secular purpose, that it not have the principal or primary effect of advancing or inhibiting religion, and that it not foster an excessive governmental entanglement with religion. (qtd. in Conkle). In other words, the first prong requires the court to question the intent of the government or group in charge of creating the policy; the second prong asks the court to determine the result of the policy and its effects on religion, and the last prong asks the court to not complicate the dynamic of the church and the state (Speich 275). • 15. Shelley, Mary-Justice And Injustice In Frankenstein By... Frankenstein by Mary Shelley has many main ideas, whether it s about injustice, feminism, parental responsibility, the danger of too much knowledge, the cost of revenge, the relationship between man and God, etc., they all serve a certain purpose. Out of all of those main ideas, the one that sticks out the most is injustice. Injustice comes from the Latin phrase that represents not right , and it is the practice of being unjust or unfair (Injustice Dictionary Definition). Throughout the book, Mary Shelley wanted to show that injustice is caused due to the fear of what is different ( Shelley, Mary Justice and Injustice ). Many characters in this story all have different characteristics, whether it is due to their look, personality, childhood, current situations, and more. A lot of the characteristics that differ from each other have led to many injustice situations. Even though injustice might not always be bad, many examples of unnecessary injustice are shown throughout Frankenstein due to undeserving punishment, violating the rights of others, and unfair treatment. Out of all ways that injustice can be shown within this novel, a very important part of it is unfair treatment. The first main example of unfair treatment that is shown in this book is when Victor abandons the monster he creates. Right after Victor successes in bring the creature to life, he describes him as being beautiful with his yellow skin, lustrous black, and flowing hair , and teeth of pearly whiteness (Shelley 42). Victor is full of horror and becomes unable to love it, so he turns his back to it and runs away from him. As a new living creature, this monster just wanted the love and comfort of his own creator and other humans, but instead, he is left with the unfair treatment of being abandoned by the one thing that should have stuck by his side. Another example of unfair treatment is shown in chapter 14. In this chapter readers learn about the love story of Safie and Felix. The two young lovers fell quickly in love with each other and planned to get married. Soon after, Safie s father had figured out about Felix being a religion, which is the opposite of Safie s family. • 20. Analysis Of The Poem Summer By Josiah Conder Summer by Josiah Conder , is describe as an a completely opposite Summer than the one everyone is familiar with. When thinking of the summer, thoughts of heat, vacation, and fun are usually associated with it. Conder describes the Summer as being a miserable time, where the skies are gray and gloomy. The sonnet itself is English/Shakespearean model which makes it easier for Conder to express different ideas in each quatrain but still relate them. Also Conder was a poet during the Romantic era where any feeling could be expressed towards anything. And that is what Conder does when describing the Summer. In the poem the speaker is having a conversation with no one , while they describe the Summer. Conder uses diction, imagery, alliteration and metaphor to help convey the idea that the Summer is not as fun and appealing. Throughout various lines in the poem Conder chooses very specific words to use throughout the poem. In the second line of the first quatrain of the poem while describing the sky. The speaker says The pale grey skies/ A sort of dull and dubious and lustre (1 2). The words dubious and lustre give a connotation of doubtful and shine. The speaker is describing the sky as of having a boring and doubtful glow or shine in the grey sky. Living On Campus Vs College Essay One of the biggest choices a student who has graduated high school and is ready to enroll in college must make is whether they should go away to school or live at home and drive to classes. Everyone has a different opinion on this decision, and it is based on the diverse lifestyles that people live. Most students who commute to school are told that they are not having the full college experience since they do not live on campus and spend more time at home. On the other hand, those who live on campus are told that they are wasting their money and they will not be giving the proper focus to their studies. Both sides of the argument have positives and negatives, so it is difficult to determine which one is the best for their individual life style. Commuting to school and living on campus have several similarities and differences they share, such as social, individual, and economical effects. College is the place where most students meet their lifelong friends and even their future spouses, so the social impact on each individual is tremendous. Some students, both commuters and those who stay on campus, choose to isolate themselves from others and do not attempt to be involved on campus or make any friends. • 35. Walt Whitman Metaphor Katie Leutzinger December 11, 2017 ENG 228 On Wisdom and Knowledge Walt Whitman s poem When I Heard the Learn d Astronomer seeks to provide a brief exploration of the contrast between wisdom and knowledge. Whitman uses numerous poetic devices and syllable stresses to conclude his intended theme of the poem. Along with the structure, he implements purposeful character and setting development within the eight lines of the poem. Although short in length, this work leaves much to be discovered. Like in many of his other poems, Whitman uses free verse in this short literary work. His free verse style in this one stanza is written without a specific pattern of rhyme or meter. Innovation flows through the lines as Whitman is unpredictable with his rhythm. In the eight lines (one stanza) of this poem, he creates an anecdotal feel by having the lines vary in length and giving variety to the stressed and unstressed syllables. For example, the first two lines stress the long beat on the third syllable with the words heard (line 1) and proof (line 2), whereas the third line stresses the fourth syllable with shown (line 3). Then continues to the fourth line to stress the long beat on the second syllable using a comma: When I, (line 4). These first four lines act as a setup while the speaker recalls listening to the astronomer s lecture. Whitman demonstrates anaphora in the poem by having each line in this setup begin with the word When to illustrate to the reader that the speaker is evoking a prior experience. Whitman utilizes multiple contractions in this work, such as learn d , wander d , and look d (lines 1,6,8) to exploit the illiteracy of the speaker. The contraction look d is particularly confusing because it is already a one syllable word. The last four lines of the poem serve to describe the speaker s reaction to the poem and propose the lesson of the poem. Though this poem is quite short, Whitman uses several devices to construct a vivid description of the setting. At first, he describes the classroom in which the astronomer teaches to be crowded with equations and figures. • 41. Managing Team Conflict Managing Team Conflict Introduction Teams are considered the catalyst and solution to the challenge of attaining very complex, highly integrated goals and objectives across an enterprise. The emphasis on teams is so significant today that it is common to find their use across broad geographic distances, ensuring an organization has access to the best talent globally regardless of location. This is the concept of virtual teams, and their continual and rapid adoption is reordering the management and leadership landscape in many organizations today (Ayoko, Konrad, Boyle, 2012). The existence of virtual teams is also completely changing the nature of team conflict as well (Purvanova, Bono, 2009). The intent of this analysis is to evaluate the best practices leaders can use to bring change into their organizations successfully, while also using management and leadership strategies to prevent and minimize conflict. The techniques that have proven successful in minimizing conflict are also discussed. Organizational Change, Team Conflict Management and Resolution The strongest catalyst that leads to successful change management over time is the commitment from a leader within the organization to support the transition and mitigate the negative effect on employees (Felfe, Schyns, 2004). This is continually seen in the context of how transformational leaders are excellent at being examples of how an organization needs to change by showing through their own activity that a ... • 42. The American Of Latin America In the 1920s and 1930s intellectuals and statesmen in Latin America began to adopt ideologies of race mixture in an effort to advance nation building projects based on notions of inclusion and racial equality. These notions which where said to promote racial inclusivity included mestizaje. The ideology of mestizaje often times enabled exclusion through racial terms and marginalization. In order to grasp how such an ideology has created a paradoxical and contradictory outcome politically, economically, and socially for black communities in Latin America one must draw from real world examples. Two examples of Latin American countries that have experienced marginalization of their black communities are Columbia and Mexico. Before one can enter a conversation on the process through which black communities are marginalized in Latin America it is essential to define a few terms. First one must define what Latin America encompasses. Latin America s dictionary definition is that it is the part of the American Continents South of the United States in which Spanish, Portuguese, or French is officially spoken. However, Latin America also has an ideological meaning that was defined in lecture by Professor Campos as as an idea thus signified a restoration of western civilization in the Americas . The next term that one must define is mestizaje is ideologies of national identity that celebrated race mixture as an important component of regional and national culture. Race is a way to ... • 43. Pascal s Triangle And The Triangle Pascal s Triangle is named after the seventeenth century mathematician and philosopher, Blaise Pascal. However, several other mathematicians knew about and utilized the triangle before Pascal s birth in 1623. In the twelfth century, both Persian and Chinese mathematicians were trying to create an arithmetical triangle that is easy to construct and that gives the coefficients of the expansion of the algebraic expression expression (a + b)n for different integer values of n. Pascal s Triangle was first discovered by Chinese mathematician, Yang Hui, and rediscovered 500 years later by the French mathematician, Blaise Pascal (1623 62). The Chinese mathematician, Chu Shih Chieh, depicted the triangle and indicated its use in providing coefficients for the binomial expansion of (a + b)n in his 1303 treatise The Precious Mirror of the Four Elements. Chinese mathematician, Chia Hsien (circa 1050) used the triangle to extract square and cube roots of numbers. In addition, after Chia Hsien s discovery of the relationship between extracting roots and the binomial coefficients of the triangle, work continued on this topic by several Chinese algebraists to solve higher than cubic equations. Pascal s work on the triangle emanated from the popularity of gambling. The triangle came to be known as Pascal s Triangle with Blaise Pascal s completion of Traité du triangle arithmétique in 1654. Making use of the already known array of binomial coefficients, Blaise Pascal developed many of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Bach, Johann Sebastian Bach And Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Jonathan Hugendubler Fugue Bach Shostakovich 10/10/2017 Comparative Fugal Analysis The fugue is often regarded as a genre defined by strict procedural guidelines. It is notable that three historically important composers, Johann Sebastian Bach (1685 1750), Georg Friedrich Handel (1685 1759), and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756 1791), all employed a closely related fugue subject in three different works. An analysis of each of these works individually, and a comparison of these works collectively reveal numerous latent and salient features, and a reflection of the composers style within these works. Analyses also provide an outlook into the fluidity in certain aspects and rigidity in others of the form itself, reflected historically. The three composers analyzed fall closely together in history. J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel were contemporaries, whereas Mozart was born six years after Bach s death and three years before Handel s death. Analytically, the angularity of these similar fugue subjects presupposes a treatment regardless of the composer. Because of the shared intervallic content among the subjects of these fugues, despite being written by several different composers, a surprising number of similarities arise. Therefore, it is reasonable to assert that compositional choices made in the construction of the fugue subjects limit the number of results possible. This analysis will use the A minor fugue from of J.S. Bach s The Well Tempered Clavier, Book 2 G.F. Handel s And ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. A Rhetorical Analysis Of The Text Dear Subaru: A Personal Letter to Subaru This ad from the magazine Backpacker shows off a letter from a Subaru owner, along with a photo of a Subaru Outback on a snowy road labelled OUTBACK RD . All the elements in this ad help to promote three iconic ideas about Subaru and the cars that they make. The trees are heavily weighed down with snow as if a huge blizzard has passed through the area. The ground and road are also covered with several feet of snow. This suggests to the viewer that the Subaru Outback performs very well in the snow and on extreme terrains in general. Secondly the whole ad is dominated by giant pine trees and forest. The tops of the trees are not even visible. This suggests that someone who owns a Subaru Outback also ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They also try to express the love that owners have for their cars by exhibiting a personal letter from a dear customer. It is an important detail that the owner wrote this letter and not a just a Subaru employee in charge of advertisement. It shows that the customers actually love their cars enough to write a letter and send a photo. In the letter the woman says she is on her sixth Subaru vehicle. She loves the cars so much that she has exclusively bought them for a long time. The woman in the letter then goes on to say that she named the road that enters her property OUTBACK RD after her new car. Someone has to really love their car to name a road after it. Everyone who passes by knows that they are a proud owner of a Subaru Outback. Then she explains that the sign was so popular it had already been stolen. This suggests that there is a vast community of people that love Subaru Outbacks. Even in a seemingly remote and rural area there are people who want to steal her sign. She then ends the letter with a P.S. that says Love. It s what makes a Subaru, a Subaru. . This is the iconic phrase of Subaru that concludes all of their advertisements. The ad is then drawn to a close with an open handed invitation to other Subaru owners to share their own stories. This makes it feel like Subaru really cares about how their customers feel about their cars and want to hear from them. This is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was born in Sacramento, California. In Sacramento, I grew up with many different types of people with many different struggles that I didn t even realize until I became older. Even though the outside neighborhoods near me were battling gang violence, drugs, and students who never went to school. My family lived a very simple life, with two dogs, a big house, and a nice pool in white picket fence type of neighborhood. Inside the house though, was very different. My sisters had friends living with us and family was constantly in and out. My mother also decided to create a home for two young adults in our guest room, which totaled ... Collaboration Systems at Isuzu Australia Limited Collaboration Systems at Isuzu Australia Limited By: Christopher Folz Jr. Instructor: Nancy Romero Management Information Systems 3/3/2012 Some companies try to implement new ideas and ways to increase efficiency and productivity in the workplace. This is a great idea for companies to increase the output of the product or service they are performing for the consumers. However, not everything goes so well when implementing new ideas. There are hardships that need to be overcome, the costs of implementing a new system can be overwhelming at first, and many others. I will describe to you some of the hardships of adding new groupware to a system that is already in place. Also have you ever wondered what a wiki does or what it could do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can cause problems for the company with the loss of potentially critical information that was needed for a project. As you can see there are many problems that can unravel just from using groupware. These problems are extreme but a good example is myself at work. I work for the Navy in a hospital for a basic training for the Marine Corps. We use groupware as a form for a follow up log to determine which patients need to come back and on which day for their personal safety. Anyone that works in the hospital has access to this log. If someone was to go into it and delete the information it becomes potentially dangerous for the people involved in being erased if we cannot have them come back in. Luckily this does not happen, however not everybody likes the system and they do not implement the peoples name into the system. This can cause the superiors to get upset when it is not up to date than someone gets in trouble causing more work for everyone else in the clinic. It also reduces the morale of all the workers that do remember to add the names but now have to work harder because someone did not do their job. Even with all of these challenges it allows us to be more effective as a clinic and our efficiency is better with a lot less people being missed in coming in for a follow up. A scorecard is a type of report that displays a collection of key performance indicators together with performance targets for each key performance indicators. These are usually a ... The federal law, No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB), allows schools to decide the method to use for teaching ELLs, but it does not provide federal support for bilingual education programs, (Peregoy Boyle (2016). Reading, Writing and Learning in ESL. page 29) . Bilingual education, is an instructional approach that teaches at least some academic content (e.g., reading or science) in the native language in addition to teaching students academic content in English (Goldenberg, C. For example, bilingual education would allow students to learn English, while continuing to progress in their main subjects. Students might experience less anxiety about succeeding because they may do well in learning English and continuing to develop in their core subjects. Another positive aspect of bilingual education, is the student does not lose their first language and thus becomes truly bilingual. However, there are cons to the bilingual approach, for example, finding qualified teachers that speak the various languages, learning English at a much slower pace and possibly being separated from native English speakers. Structured English Immersion has its pros and cons as well. For instance, SEI students will learn English at a much faster rate because they are hearing it much more, but there is a risk that they may fall behind in their core studies. Both sides have been able to show studies that support their argument, but it is reasonable to assume that the studies are difficult to prove because there are many different factors that could affect the success of either ...
