AirThread
Valuation of AirThread
This case deals with the valuation of AirThread Connections Business (ATC) from the perspective of
its potential acquirer, American Cable Communication (ACC). ACC is a large cable operator which
serves the video, internet and landline telephony needs of millions of users across America. However
it is recently looking to acquire ATC which is one of the largest wireless companies in the United
States. This acquisition will bring with it certain synergies that both can benefit from, which is
primarily the reason behind the valuation requirements of AirThread.
Methodological approach to value AirThread
American Cable Communication is interested in raising significant capital following the Leveraged

Using the other data provided in Exhibit 1 of the case study, we can calculate the Un Levered Free
Cash Flow for ATC during the period 2008 2012 as shown in the above table.
Discount rate calculation for AirThread
To calculate the discount rate for AirThread, we have looked at the industry Asset Beta (this measures
the systematic business risk).
The Asset Beta for each firm is calculated using the formula βa= βe/1+(D/E)(1 t)
e.g. For Universal Mobile this value is computed as follows (we are using the tax rate as 40%)
0.86 / (1 + (0.923)(1 0.4) = 0.5534
The Industry average is simply the average of all the firms listed. Once we have the Asset Beta, we
can calculate the Equity beta using the following formula βe = βa/ (1 (D/V))
The highlighted row represents the average Debt/Value ratio for the industry as seen in the previous
table. Therefore the Unlevered Cost of

STEM Education in the United States Essay
Science education has been a controversial topic among employers and schools for years. Employers
are requesting more STEM graduates yet the schools are unable to keep up with the rising demand.
Unemployment rates continue to go up while positions in the science, technology, and engineering
fields have remained open and unfulfilled. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics)
education is vital to the position of the United States in the world standings in STEM research and
design. Currently 3 of the 5 top positions in STEM research are held by Asian countries and sadly the
United States doesn t even fall in the top 10 for the list. There was once a time when the United States

If we hope to continue in the direction that we are going, it is imperative that we increase interest in
STEM fields. The best way to increase the amount of STEM graduates is to increase STEM interest in
school aged children. Some states have more successfully integrated STEM into their education
system through the introduction of magnet schools and other specialized programs. These schools
have helped increase interest in STEM education by exposing students very specific components of
the fields. Some ways that they achieve this is by introducing specialized courses like aquatic science
and robotics. Robotics is one of the most commonly introduced classes in the 6th 12th grades and is
responsible for a large increase in STEM interest. (Waters) Students report that their favorite part of
robotics is the hands on nature of the class. This teaching method has since been applied to other non
robotics classes resulting in higher class participation and attentiveness. AUVIS foundation helps
schools start up robotics programs and reports that schools with robotics programs that expand on the
AUVIS teaching method have also increased their performance on standardized tests. Robotics has
further helped foster STEM education through the introduction of national robotics competitions.
These competitions are beneficial to the children because it

Fracking Of The United States
Alexi Taylor Monday, December 1, 2014 Dr. Gray Final Paper Fracking in the United States
Hydraulic fracking in the United States is a current environmental hazard that has to be addressed by
the American people and by the federal government. Fracking in America has opened up millions of
acres of lands that were once not economically viable to produce oil and gas. While the Bureau of land
Management has paved the way for hydraulic fracturing on public lands, there is a need for retaliation.
Fracking is a dirty method of extracting gases and oils at the price of numerous environmental, safety,
and health hazards. The environment is not a means of income when rather it is the capital for future
generations. Currently fracking is being disputed at state and federal levels. Farmers around the
country have been affected by this issue where fracking companies disturb the surrounding
environment to a point that nearby neighbors are affected so much where their drinking water
becomes contaminated and undrinkable. Who becomes responsible to support these everyday farmers
to contend against these well off oil fracking companies? In some cases these farmers don t have the
resources to win the legal disputes against these large fracking barons. Small family farms are
disappearing at a fast rate, and one more variable thrown in will make these small family farm
disappear that much faster. Even if the victims were to triumph in one court case what happens after

The New Brunswick Islamic Center
Since the dawn of time, religion has been the staple of humanity. It has been our explanation for the
unexplainable, as well a way for us to form a community with those around us. Due to the natural
diversity of humans, a varied set of separate religions has formed throughout the world. Religions
continue to adapt and inspire each other, however, they all have their differences, as well as internal
differences through the observations of each believer. The exterior of the New Brunswick Islamic
Center is incredibly misleading. The outside appears similar to a factory, yet, it s the inside that
suggests something holier. The inner appearance of the religious center is not very extravagant either,
yet, it has a respectful atmosphere to it. Everyone acknowledges each other with a warm greeting, and
everyone acts friendly. The building itself only was composed of a lobby and a musallah¸ or ritual
hall. The women sat separated from the men, and everyone was required to remove their shoes. The
age distribution was very spread out. Many young children accompanied their parents to prayer, while
many older worshippers came alone. In fact, the lowest subset age wise were college and high school
aged students. The dress of the worshippers was perhaps the most varied. Some were in traditional
garb, some were in basketball shorts and snapbacks, and some even fused traditional robes with
baseball caps. The service attended was Dhruhr, the midday prayer. The service begins with a sermon

Literary Analysis To Kill A Mockingbird
Literary Analysis: To Kill a Mockingbird Throughout time authors have used symbolism to express a
greater meaning in simple words because it allows readers to connect the real world to what they are
reading in an abstract way, like philosophers using the dove to represent peace and fire to represent
ferocity; in To Kill A Mockingbird , Harper Lee uses symbolism to make a point about maturity in
particular when Miss Maudie gives Jem cake, when scout tries to learn innocence and when scout tries
to learn how to observe a situation from someone else s perspective.
Generally speaking, In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses symbolism when she has
Miss Maudie give cake to Dill, Jem and Scout. Scout remembers that Miss Maudie made the best
cakes, and in their childhood every time she made a big cake and three little ones (Lee 43). This line
shows that Miss Maudie would bake one big cake for herself and three little kids for the kids. Lee uses
symbolism during this scene to use the different sizes of cakes to represent age and maturity. Miss
Maudie gives the adults the big cake and the little kids the little cake because the adults are more
mature and would not eat the entire cake bet the kids not knowing proper eddicate would. Although
this scene seems unimportant it matters because it shows that the cakes represent maturity and right
now Jem is still seen as an immature little boy. Again, Harper Lee uses he makes Miss Maudie make
as symbolism of maturity at the end of the trial, Scout notices that There was a big cake and two little
ones on Miss Maudie s kitchen table, There should have been three little ones ... and we must have
shown it when she cut from the big cake and give the slice to Jem (Lee 215). This quote shows that
Miss Maudie is changing her ritual by giving Jema big piece of cake instead of a little cake. In other
words the symbol of the cake shows that Jem is growing up and becoming more mature, so Miss
Maudie give him a big slice of cake shows that Miss Maudie recognizes him as a young adult.
Although this scene may also seem insignificant; however, this scene is crucial to show the reader the
maturing of Jem because without him becoming mature, how are the readers

From the Nobel Prize website itself, the passage describes briefly and clearly elaborates on Albert

purpose of this piece is to inform people who are interested in the Nobel Prize selection and in Camus
himself about him, providing a short synopsis on his background and his movement in his career from
political journalism to writing essays, stories, and furthermore novels. Growing up, Camus expressed
a deep interest to philosophy, which later prevailed in all of his publications as well as his Algerian
upbringing. Although his fascinations to the mind and thought were definitely present, he was unable
to attend university for philosophy; however, luck struck him when he was able to begin working as a
columnist and later dabbled in theatre. In many of his works, he utilized the notion of absurdum and
absence, seen heavily in The Myth of Sisyphus and further elaborated upon in the main character of
Meursault in The Stranger. By gathering the pieces that occurred in Camus s life, it becomes clearer as
to why he wrote the story the way it is and what it means, to him and to others.

The Evolution of Jousting Essay
The Evolution of Jousting
Picture, if you will, a knight in shining armor charging on his noble steed down the open stretch
toward his enemy. From his great helm, (Jousting Helmet) a detachable sleeve whips in the wind at
approximately 30 miles per hour. Just before the two knights meet, they each brace themselves for the
impact they know awaits them. The wood splinters fly, and one of the knights is knocked from his
steed, spilling his life s blood on the ground.
Jousting was a medieval war tactic that later evolved into a sport, testing skill in horsemanship as well
as balance and accuracy. Jousting has changed in its use over the years. It was once used in battle, but
is now mainly a competitive form of entertainment. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The loser of the battle lost his horse and the armor that he was wearing in the battle. The jousting
battlefield is now a soft arena, and what once was a battlefield maneuver, is now a sport that draws
paying spectators from all over to see a piece of the past relived.
One of the largest changes from the medieval times was the reason for jousting. At one time knights
used jousting, sword fighting and other weapon use to protect the church, but it also became a part of a
judicial tool. Jousting was used in judicial Duel and trial by combat. In the Knighthood, Chivalry
Tournament Glossary of Terms website they explained, Judicial Duel was generally fought between
combatants of knightly rank between the appellant and the defendant. A charge of dishonorable
conduct underlies the combat, fought to the death before judges. Not a tournament, it is a form of trial
by combat. Many of the surviving fechtbuchs (rules of sword fighting) seem to describe techniques
used in the judicial duel that would have been forbidden in the tournament, such as piercing an
opponent s foot with the butt spike of a poleaxe (Knighthood).
A webpage on what jousting is described it a little more in depth It was reasoned by contemporary
philosophers that God would defend the innocent party. Often kings invoked it to settle disputes;
Edward III challenged the King of France to combat between either two champions or 100 knights per
side, in a combat

Pedagogic Design And Second Language Acquisition
The Effectiveness of the Pedagogic Design and the Implementation of Computer Assisted Language
Learning in relation to Second Language Acquisition
Second Language Acquisition or SLA is a term used to describe learning a second language. There are
a number of ways in which one can learn a second language, and in this essay I am going to discuss
the links and relationship between second language acquisition and computer assisted language
learning, with particular focus on the pedagogical aspects. The most obvious approach to learning a
second language is undoubtedly through the Pedagogic Design, or learning from a teacher in a
structured classroom environment. Computer Assisted Language Learning is another commonly used
resource for language learning, and this is regularly referred to as CALL. The ... Show more content

in Second Language Acquisition. Basically, the student s previous knowledge is expanded on and

Naturalistic Approach to second language acquisition. This theory complements that of Noam
Chomsky, an American linguist and language theorist who believes that children are born with an
inherited ability to learn any human language. He claims that many constructions in language, which
children use so precisely, must be already imprinted on the child s mind. Chomsky believes that every

Unethical Advertising In Fast Food
Companies utilize many different techniques to unethically advertise their food towards consumers. It
s incredible what companies are able to get away with! Food can be unethically advertised in a variety
of different ways. Fast food restaurants are notorious for doctoring the way their food looks in
advertisements to wrongfully reflect how it actually looks when purchased by a consumer. It is also
extremely unethical when junk food products or unhealthy food items are advertised towards obese
people, or people with eating issues, and young children. It s important to review the different types of
unethical advertising that are utilized and also the laws and regulations that are in place to protect the
consumer from the unethical advertising.
Fast food restaurants are one of the biggest offenders when it comes to utilizing unethical advertising
techniques. Companies such as Mcdonald s and Arby s will completely change the look of their food
to make it more appealing to consumers. These companies will often hire special advertisers to make
their food look optimal for the market. A consumer who sees, for example, a burger in a McDonald s
commercial which contains just the right ratio of all burger components and looks cooked perfectly
will be more apt to go to McDonald s and buy that burger, even if the product that they actually
receive is incredibly different than the commercial. These companies realize that this is the case; their
intention is to get customers into their

The Influence Of The Middle Ages
Over the course of various historical eras, people have examined and analyzed certain periods that
have given significant influence to our modern world. In Europe, the fifth century to the fifteenth
century is known as the Middle Ages and to this day is questioned whether to refer it as a dark time or
not. Many may say these ages were dark due to barbarian invasions that eventually led to the fall of
the Roman Empire. On the other hand what those individuals lacked to take notice of was the
significant contribution the Middle Ages brought into Western civilization. Education, philosophy,
literature and humanism are prominent factors that have become a part of the sum of progress during
this time. Scholars like John of Salisbury are known for their influence and contributions towards the
development of human knowledge throughout the Middle Ages. John of Salisbury got his name from
his birth place Salisbury, in southern England (1115 1120). Little is known of his family background
however, what is known is his years of education and how he became Archbishop Theobald of
Canterbury. One of his most famous writing passages is called Metalogicon. The purpose of this book
was to address and discredit the attacks made on Trivium which turned out to be a good source in
regards to understanding the study of grammar, logic and rhetoric. In chapter 10, John begins with
defining what logic is and explains its importance. He states there can be no doubt that all logic is

Romeo And Juliet Nightingale Symbol Essay
For the Nightingale is a Lark
Romeo and Juliet while laying in bed hear birds outside. When Romeo hears this he becomes
concerned. Both his and Juliet s reactions to this show very clearly how they are feeling in that
moment. However there is a much deeper meaning and slight foreshadowing when looking at the
symbolism within this scene. Relating directly to both of the birds referenced when they speak.
Juliet clearly shows that she wants him to stay when she says, It was the nightingale, and not the lark,
That pierce the fearful hollow of thine ear (3.5 2 3). This shows just how much Juliet wants him to
stay. However there is a much deeper symbolism within her words specifically pertaining to the
mention of the nightingale. The nightingale is known to sing of love and its connection to such, but
also it s connection between love and death. This slightly foreshadowing what will happen to Romeo
and Juliet as it is one of its most important themes. The theme comes ... Show more content on

While the nightingales sing at the dead of night the Lark sings at dawn. It is a warning of the coming
dangers for the lovers as day marks the end of their time. This is made even more symbolic as the lark

Shakespeare has also referenced the lark in his sonnets. Sonnet 29 states, Like to the lark at break of
day arising...For thy sweet love remembered such wealth bringsThat then I scorn to change my state
with kings. (29.11 13 14) This quotation connects with Romeo and Juliet as both of them are forced

Narrative Summary of Interview
On October 26, I had the pleasure of interviewing Heather Smith a clinical mental health counselor.
Heather Smith is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in Alexandria Virginia. She specializes in
PTSD, Anxiety, Trauma, Marital and Premarital counseling. In addition to these specialties, she also
treats disorders such as Dissociative Disorders, Impulse Control disorders, and personality disorders.
Ms. Smith also works closely with Women s issues that include coping skills, sexual abuse,
depression, and suicidal ideation. Ms. Smith services a population of clients ranging from adolescents
(14 19), to adults as well.
Heather believes the primary differences that separate a clinical mental health counselor and other
mental health professionals such as: a social worker and psychologist are due to the type of work they
focus on primarily. Although, social workers, and psychologist may counsel clients, the majority may
have more in depth specification of study. Social workers are likely to work in case management and

Media Portrayal Of Women s Roles And Responsibilities Essay
For decades, media images have bombarded the minds of viewers. One of the images which has had a
strong influence on society is that of women. Movie stars and actresses have inclined women to see
their beauty and talent and encouraged them to follow in their footsteps. A strong desire to emulate
talented individuals, in action and dress, has shaped strong beauty and role diversification in a short
period of time. With the influx of women cast in moving pictures and (later) television shows, the
construction of inaccurate ideas concerning an ideal woman s looks and responsibilities has emerged.
Yet, women and young girls continue trying to emulate the roles and images they see on TV. American
culture is saturated with messages in mass media and the effects are not always positive on society.
The media portrayal of the typical American women s roles and responsibilities has transformed the
ideology of what a woman should be. A sociological definition of gender is a system of social
practices creating and maintaining differences among people and organizing unequal relations because
of differences. As Taylor Chapman puts it, Mass media is especially harmful to women because it
constructs negative perceptions of women and reinforces them on a daily basis (2011). An
examination of the historical images portrayed in the movie and television industries reveals an
interesting representation of the women of an era and inequality in responsibilities. The

patterns. These European traits set the standard for the genesis of American poetry, which will later we
further developed and adapted by Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson, who are now considered to be
the first great American poets. Because of the strong ties to European poetry, American poets wanted
to distinguish themselves from their origins and began their crusade to build a new foundation for
American poetry. Therefore, the 19th century began with high hopes for poetic accomplishment. The
first comprehensive anthologies of American poetry appeared in the 1820s, 1830s, and 1840s. In the
first half of the century poets sought to entertain, to inform, and to put into memorable language
America s history, myths, manners, and topography, but they did not seek to forge a radical new poetic
tradition. Their poetry built upon tradition, and they met the first great goal of American poetry: that it
be able to compete in quality, intelligence, and breadth with British poetry. But just as they achieved
this goal, poetic aspirations began to change. By the mid 19th century the new goal for American
poetry was to create something very different from British poetry. (MarcoPolo.net). Stephen Crane s
poems (Behold, the grave of a wicked man, I saw a man pursuing the horizon, A Man Said

Essay about The Turks and Mongols
In order to discuss the movements of Asiatic peoples into Europe from the first inroad of the Huns to
the conquests of the Osmanli Turks in the sixteenth century, it will be necessary to review briefly the
events in central and eastern Asia which preceded and precipitated these incursions.
From the time that the Irano Aryan ancestors had arrived in Russian Turkestan in anticipation of their
descent into the hills of northwestern India, much of this grassy plain had been the home of those
Iranians who remained behind while their kinsmen climbed the mountains which would take them into
India and the Irano Afghan plateau. These Iranians apparently developed, or borrowed, a high degree
of adaptation to their steppe environment, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When we view the Hunnish inroad into Europe in the light of the total context of Old World history, it
ceases to be a strange inruption of hideous and invincible barbarians darting out of nowhere, as it at
first appeared to the Byzantines and Romans. The Huns were a people who had been exposed to a
high civilization that of China; they were cultured if illiterate, and in every sense the match of the
frightened adversaries whom they met in Europe. When we examine the details of these invasions, we
see that it was not one simple inroad, but a series of them in which a perplexing confusion of names is
involved. Chief of the newcomers, after the Huns, were the Avars, who arrived in the sixth century.
The Huns considered these their kinsmen and equals, and later amalgamated with them after the Avars
had, in the eighth century, been defeated by Charlemagne and had retreated, some to Hungary and
others to the Don country.
From the fall of the Huns until the rise of the Mongols some thousand years later, the history of central
Asia is simply a repetition of the same theme; some obscure sub tribe would become important, win
leadership over the others, and head new invasions of increasing complexity. The history of southern
Russia became extremely complicated, for the steppes of the Don country served as a terminal point
for all but the most serious of these movements.
After the Avars came the Turks, called

Native Hawaiians And Native Americans
When Native Hawaiians welcomed Captain Cook and his crew, they began a journey that would lead
to the crumbling of Hawaiian culture. After Captain Cook, missionaries continued to travel to Hawaii
to, in their opinion, help the Hawaiian people. Native Hawaiians were viewed as savages and were
seemingly given the best assistance from the missionaries. However, the help that the Hawaiians
received led to them being demoralized and hurt psychologically and physiologically. In order to
succeed, underdogs often need the assistance of others. However, too much aid from others can result
in the help becoming the underdog s Goliath instead of their savior. The Hawaiians, being thought of
as the underdogs by the missionaries, were given an overwhelming amount of help which led to the
missionaries becoming the Hawaiian s Goliath. Before Captain Cook stumbled upon Hawaii, the
Hawaiians lived in harmony with the aina, or the land. They lived by ahupua a, or strict land divisions
that respected the natural landscape. Communities were created around rivers and water sources. The
Hawaiians had a strict law system called the kapu. They lived with great respect to the land and
believed in demi gods such as Pele, the goddess of the volcano, or Mau i, who was believed to have
pulled the islands out of the ocean in order for people to live on the land. Peace and prosperity thrived
throughout the islands because people understood that each individual had an important role and that

Reasons For Australia s Involvement In The Vietnam War
After World War II in the 20th century, the United States and the Soviet Union were the new
Superpowers . These two major nations had two conflicting political ideologies which were stated as
Capitalism and Communism, and this had Australia right in the middle of the story. Since Australia
has very strong ties with the US, making it even stronger after involving in the Vietnam War and also
grew strong with the SEATO and ANZUS with the fear of the so called domino theory and the foreign
policies which including the Forward Defence Policy. This, however, allowed Australia to gain a
closer chance to go to war in Vietnam. Australia having really strong ties with the US makes it a
nation ruled by Capitalism which made it a huge target ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vietnam was the first time Australian conscripts were sent abroad in peace time. Many protest groups,
like Save Our Sons, started off as anti conscription, but became anti war as the conflict dragged on.
Many men started to object to national service refusing to register or attend when called to serve. After
1968, men could be imprisoned for refusing to comply with the National Service Scheme. By 1969 the
anti conscription movement was no longer composed of just mothers groups and university students. It
had widespread support across all sections of Australian society. Major battles had many people
wondering if the Vietnam War was, in fact, winnable and for how long Australian soldiers were going
to be involved. One of the major factors in a growing anti war movement was the reporting of the
Vietnam War; it was a war fought on TV. No one could escape the horrors of what was happening
there. To set a conclusion, this essay shows that Australia feared the threats of Communist attacks to
gain power but since Australia and its allies, US and Britain, negotiated throughout the conflict and
played smart while thinking of the domino theory so they worked on preventing the enemies troops
from gaining access to Australia s Shores, so they fought in Vietnam to stop the threat having help
from South Vietnam and wanted to free the North from Communist ruling as it already was a

Japanese culture factors influenced the disclosure of financial information
Introduction
Japan is an unique oriental country in many aspects, especially in politics and economy, both western
practices and traditional nationalism are coexisted in this country. The period 1890 1940 was just
followed the Meiji restoration, and was typical in the history of Japan, at that time, Japan was on the
way from a feudal country to a capitalistic country, called modernization. Many western practices
were being more and more adopted, however, at the same time, traditional rules still had strong
influences in Japan. Under this background, this report will discuss the Japanese cultural factors
during 1890 1940 that influenced the disclosure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hand in hand, the zaibatsu and government guided the nation, borrowing technology from the West.
Japan gradually took control of much of Asia s market for manufactured goods, beginning with
textiles. The economy structure became very mercantilist, importing raw materials and exporting
finished products a reflection of Japan s relative poverty in raw materials.[2]
Japan emerged from the Tokugawa Meiji transition as the first Asian industrialized nation. Domestic
commercial activities and limited foreign trade had met the demands for material culture in the
Tokugawa period, but the modernized Meiji era had radically different requirements. From the
beginning, the Meiji rulers embraced the concept of a market economy and adopted British and North
American forms of free enterprise capitalism. The private sector in a nation blessed with an abundance
of aggressive entrepreneurs welcomed such change.
Economic reforms included a unified modern currency based on the yen, banking, commercial and tax
laws, stock exchanges, and a communications network. Establishment of a modern institutional
framework conducive to an advanced capitalist economy took time but was completed by the 1890s.
By this time, the government had largely relinquished direct control of the modernization process,
primarily for budgetary reasons. Many of the former daimyo, whose pensions had been paid in a lump
sum, benefited greatly

Definition Essay on Love
Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either
romantic love, the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The
Encarta Encyclopedia. As I explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I
noticed the definitions changed quite a bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I
found in The Encarta Encyclopedia was probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in
the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and romantic. All in which can only be defined by one
word and that it love. The definitions of love are the same and yet different. Godly, for instance is the
love of God, and your devotion ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It starts as the love of two individuals, and then progresses to the love of a family. The love between
parent and child is far more different than the love between husband and wife. That is where the
difference in the meaning of love comes in. Romantic love is the love between husband and wife and
fraternal love is the love between parent and child. And if you re a religious family you have the love
of your God. All in which are very different; and yet pretty much the same! Some marriages don t last,
unfortunately and the end result is a divorce. A divorce is basically the termination of a marriage. Most
divorces occur due to corrupted love. If it is true love it ll last a lifetime. Nothing can break the love
between two people if it s true love. If it were possible to break this eternal bond it would have to have
been a relationship based on corrupted love. True love is very rare in my opinion and if it exists it will
last a lifetime, regardless. If not, that relationship is corrupt. Corrupted relationships are relationships
that are falsified by ones wrong intentions in a relationship. These intentions tend to throw the other
companion into a belief that their partner loves them when in fact they don t thus causing heartbreak.
Most of these intentions are sexual and physical. Any relationship based strictly on sexual and
physical attraction will fail. True love is primarily emotional. These sexual tendencies are what cause

Most used devices at home are electrical light, electric fan, air conditioner. Operator may not be at
home and may be somewhere in a different place and if the necessity arises to control these home
appliances there must be some source to control and monitor the home appliances. It has an Inbuilt
Clock which tracks over the Time. When this time equals to the programmed time, then the
corresponding device is switched ON. The switching time can be edited at any Time using the keypad.
The Clock is displayed on LCD display.
Introduction:
The main objective of this work is to design and construct a micro computer based system to control
electric appliances such as light, fan, heater, washing machine, motor, TV, etc. The most important
problems
faced are the misusage of electricity and its wastage. Sometimes due to carelessness of the persons
lamps or fans are left ON which results in wastage of electricity. The project helps to overcome all
these problems. Microcontroller is used to supervise the actions of all other devices and to control the

Compare And Contrast Managerialism Of Public Administration
It is becoming increasingly evident that hierarchical public administration is inconsistent with the
demands of civil society. And the reason for this dissatisfaction is not fiscal nor political, but as
Huntington (1968) suggested is also administrative. Although economic and political resources are
scarce, this limitation may be overcome by efficient use by the state. Hence the managerial public
administration emerged as an answer to the crisis of the state. By using a strategy of administration the
managerialist approach makes the delivery of the huge services offered by the state less expensive and
more efficient. In addition it tries to protect public patrimony against corruption.
Usually bureaucracies tend to be self oriented. And apart from promoting their own interests, they are
primarily interested in securing the power of the state over citizens . In contrast, managerial public
administration assumes that this power is no longer being seriously challenged ... Show more content

The general idea suggests decentralization, delegation of authority, clear definition of the sectors
which state operates, the types of ownership, and the types of administration that are more suited to
each sector. Therefore to be able to make reforms to the hierarchical model of administration we must
account that the modern state includes four sectors: the strategic core, exclusive activities,
nonexclusive services, and the production of goods and services for the market. The strategic core is
where law and regulations are defined, and their enforcement is assured. The exclusive activities are
the ones that guarantee that laws and public policies are followed and financed. The nonexclusive
services are usually provided by the state, but, since they do not involve the exercise of the state s
extroverted power, nongovernmental sectors may also provide

Essay On Should Female Soccer Players Be Paid More
Women Soccer Players Should be Paid More In the year 2015, the Women s United States national
team won the World Cup. When they won they earned a $2 million. Even though this was a great
accomplishment, in the 2014 Men s World Cup, Germany won and earned a whopping $35 million.
This is a major pay gap between the men and women s soccer teams. I believe that women soccer
players should be paid as much or more than their male counterparts. Many people believe that men
and women soccer players are paid perfectly the way they are, but the way that the women are getting
paid is an enormous issue in today s society. Women should be paid more because they are bringing in
more profit, they are winning more games than the men, and they have more fan ... Show more

Millions of young girls dream to be like them one day. When these players come to town, the tickets
sell out fast. For example, in Denver, the Women s National Team played a friendly against Japan,
when the tickets went up for sale, they sold out in just ten minutes! This happens everywhere when the
national team comes to town. This is raising lots of ticket sales for the Women s National Team, but
the Women s National team isn t getting the money that they deserve. Another big example is that
when the women played Japan, in 2015, in the World Cup championship, there were more than twenty
five million people watching. This is the most views that any game in the English speaking language
(men or women) has received. Even though they are selling more tickets and having more viewers,
they are still not getting the money that they rightfully deserve. Even though they are bringing in more
profit, they still aren t making the money that they should be getting. It is important for the Women s
National Teams to stand up for what is right. They are being torn away from the money they deserve
for nothing. Why is

The Factors Of The Aquaculture In Australia
Introduction
Aquaculture is a major industry world wide but is becoming fast growing in Australia (Moffatt, B.
2008). Aquaculture is defined as the business of farming aquatic animals and plants, under varying
degrees of controlled conditions, both in marine and freshwater environments (Daf, 2017).
Aquaculture has the potential, through harvesting and farming species, to support the growing demand
for seafood (Daf, 2017). Aquaculture produces fish for food, sport, bait and ornamental, as well as
crustaceans, molluscs, algae, sea vegetables and fish eggs (NOAA, 2017). Seafood demand has
significantly increased over the last three decades, the demand exceeds the supply capable by
domestic production and continues to grow everyday (Agriculture, 2017). Aquaculture occurs
throughout Australia from the tropical north to the temperate south, the industry is largely based in
regional Australia and makes a significant and positive contribution to the regional development
(Agriculture, 2017).
The less prawns taken from the wild and the more from aquaculture will increase number of prawns in
the wild. Aquaculture will allow this to happen as it will bring the necessary levels of prawns in the
wild back to normal and increase which will let the other animals that benefit from the prawns will
live better. Prawns are profitable as they are sold to various countries for food as well as being sold all
around Australia creating a great amount of profit.

The, An Eye Opening Book By Nicholas Carr
The Shallows, an eye opening book written by Nicholas Carr, discusses the detrimental impacts of
technology on the process of learning. Specifically, in Chapter Eight, Carr analyzes the evolution of
technology that has led to the invention of an efficient, revolutionary organization of knowledge: the
search engine. For example, Google provides an online outlet to a seemingly infinite amount of
information for internet users worldwide. Google is widely known as a necessity for everyday life: an
incredible tool for searching the vast expansions of the world wide web. Carr, frightened by the
technological change that Google brings, describes how we are perpetually stuck between two modes
of thinking. The online organization of knowledge that Google provides carries both positive and
negative arguments; A database of that capacity allows individuals access to knowledge that would
otherwise be inaccessible but Google also has a certain control over knowledge which is alarming.
Google was created by two young men, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. They combined skills to create
the perfect search engine they both envisioned. The now efficient, popular search engine built its
image through internet traffic and economically through AdWords. A company as large as Google
needs to be efficient, Frederick Winslow Taylor and his idea of the one best method of work,
otherwise known as Taylorism, was the perfect fit for the company. Carr painted the picture for his
readers by writing,

Big Data Technology And Services Essay
Big Data Technology and services Logistics 1.0 What Big Data is, and the difference between Online
and Offline Big Data in Logistics 1.1 Introduction Big data is not just about having large amounts of
data, but it also refers to the complexity of data sets fetched from multiple sources, where traditional
data processing methods cannot be sufficient to process the data, and thus requires advanced
computing tools and technologies which can be acquired by using distributed processing and cloud
technology. In general, Big data excels in three areas: Volume, Variety and Velocity. Volume and
Variety is when you are dealing with a huge quantity of data, in all types of forms and all types of
sources. Velocity is about additional capabilities offered by distributed processing, which drastically
accelerates the computing speed. But, when it comes to logistics, Big data is more than just 3Vs. It
goes beyond and presents real world use cases, revealing what is happening now and what could
possibly happen in the future. Big data is often unstructured, so you definitely need advance
mechanism for interpreting the data. The major challenges faced are data analysing, capturing,
curating, storing, searching, querying, updating, sharing, transferring, visualising and security. As of
2012, the size of Big data ranges from a few terabytes to dozens of petabytes. 1.2 Difference Between
Online and Offline Big Data Technologies and tools involved in Big data generally fall into two

AirThread Valuation of AirThread This case deals with the valuation of AirThread Connections Business (ATC) from the perspective of its potential acquirer, American Cable Communication (ACC). ACC is a large cable operator which serves the video, internet and landline telephony needs of millions of users across America. However it is recently looking to acquire ATC which is one of the largest wireless companies in the United States. This acquisition will bring with it certain synergies that both can benefit from, which is primarily the reason behind the valuation requirements of AirThread. Using the other data provided in Exhibit 1 of the case study, we can calculate the Un Levered Free Cash Flow for ATC during the period 2008 2012 as shown in the above table. Discount rate calculation for AirThread To calculate the discount rate for AirThread, we have looked at the industry Asset Beta (this measures the systematic business risk). The Asset Beta for each firm is calculated using the formula βa= βe/1+(D/E)(1 t) e.g. For Universal Mobile this value is computed as follows (we are using the tax rate as 40%) 0.86 / (1 + (0.923)(1 0.4) = 0.5534 The Industry average is simply the average of all the firms listed. • 3. STEM Education in the United States Essay Science education has been a controversial topic among employers and schools for years. Employers are requesting more STEM graduates yet the schools are unable to keep up with the rising demand. Unemployment rates continue to go up while positions in the science, technology, and engineering fields have remained open and unfulfilled. STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education is vital to the position of the United States in the world standings in STEM research and design. Currently 3 of the 5 top positions in STEM research are held by Asian countries and sadly the United States doesn t even fall in the top 10 for the list. If we hope to continue in the direction that we are going, it is imperative that we increase interest in STEM fields. The best way to increase the amount of STEM graduates is to increase STEM interest in school aged children. Some states have more successfully integrated STEM into their education system through the introduction of magnet schools and other specialized programs. These schools have helped increase interest in STEM education by exposing students very specific components of the fields. Some ways that they achieve this is by introducing specialized courses like aquatic science and robotics. Robotics is one of the most commonly introduced classes in the 6th 12th grades and is responsible for a large increase in STEM interest. (Waters) Students report that their favorite part of robotics is the hands on nature of the class. This teaching method has since been applied to other non robotics classes resulting in higher class participation and attentiveness. AUVIS foundation helps schools start up robotics programs and reports that schools with robotics programs that expand on the AUVIS teaching method have also increased their performance on standardized tests. Robotics has further helped foster STEM education through the introduction of national robotics competitions. These competitions are beneficial to the children because it ... • 4. Fracking Of The United States Alexi Taylor Monday, December 1, 2014 Dr. Gray Final Paper Fracking in the United States Hydraulic fracking in the United States is a current environmental hazard that has to be addressed by the American people and by the federal government. Fracking in America has opened up millions of acres of lands that were once not economically viable to produce oil and gas. While the Bureau of land Management has paved the way for hydraulic fracturing on public lands, there is a need for retaliation. Fracking is a dirty method of extracting gases and oils at the price of numerous environmental, safety, and health hazards. The environment is not a means of income when rather it is the capital for future generations. Currently fracking is being disputed at state and federal levels. Farmers around the country have been affected by this issue where fracking companies disturb the surrounding environment to a point that nearby neighbors are affected so much where their drinking water becomes contaminated and undrinkable. Who becomes responsible to support these everyday farmers to contend against these well off oil fracking companies? In some cases these farmers don t have the resources to win the legal disputes against these large fracking barons. Small family farms are disappearing at a fast rate, and one more variable thrown in will make these small family farm disappear that much faster. Even if the victims were to triumph in one court case what happens after when they plug ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It has been our explanation for the unexplainable, as well a way for us to form a community with those around us. Due to the natural diversity of humans, a varied set of separate religions has formed throughout the world. Religions continue to adapt and inspire each other, however, they all have their differences, as well as internal differences through the observations of each believer. The exterior of the New Brunswick Islamic Center is incredibly misleading. The outside appears similar to a factory, yet, it s the inside that suggests something holier. The inner appearance of the religious center is not very extravagant either, yet, it has a respectful atmosphere to it. Everyone acknowledges each other with a warm greeting, and everyone acts friendly. The building itself only was composed of a lobby and a musallah¸ or ritual hall. The women sat separated from the men, and everyone was required to remove their shoes. The age distribution was very spread out. Many young children accompanied their parents to prayer, while many older worshippers came alone. In fact, the lowest subset age wise were college and high school aged students. • 7. Literary Analysis To Kill A Mockingbird Literary Analysis: To Kill a Mockingbird Throughout time authors have used symbolism to express a greater meaning in simple words because it allows readers to connect the real world to what they are reading in an abstract way, like philosophers using the dove to represent peace and fire to represent ferocity; in To Kill A Mockingbird , Harper Lee uses symbolism to make a point about maturity in particular when Miss Maudie gives Jem cake, when scout tries to learn innocence and when scout tries to learn how to observe a situation from someone else s perspective. Generally speaking, In the novel To Kill A Mockingbird, Harper Lee uses symbolism when she has Miss Maudie give cake to Dill, Jem and Scout. Scout remembers that Miss Maudie made the best cakes, and in their childhood every time she made a big cake and three little ones (Lee 43). This line shows that Miss Maudie would bake one big cake for herself and three little kids for the kids. Lee uses symbolism during this scene to use the different sizes of cakes to represent age and maturity. Miss Maudie gives the adults the big cake and the little kids the little cake because the adults are more mature and would not eat the entire cake bet the kids not knowing proper eddicate would. Although this scene seems unimportant it matters because it shows that the cakes represent maturity and right now Jem is still seen as an immature little boy. Again, Harper Lee uses he makes Miss Maudie make as symbolism of maturity at the end of the trial, Scout notices that There was a big cake and two little ones on Miss Maudie s kitchen table, There should have been three little ones ... and we must have shown it when she cut from the big cake and give the slice to Jem (Lee 215). This quote shows that Miss Maudie is changing her ritual by giving Jema big piece of cake instead of a little cake. In other words the symbol of the cake shows that Jem is growing up and becoming more mature, so Miss Maudie give him a big slice of cake shows that Miss Maudie recognizes him as a young adult. Although this scene may also seem insignificant; however, this scene is crucial to show the reader the maturing of Jem because without him becoming mature, how are the readers ... From the Nobel Prize website itself, the passage describes briefly and clearly elaborates on Albert Camus, mostly in the focus of his career, writing and otherwise his involvement in theatre. The main purpose of this piece is to inform people who are interested in the Nobel Prize selection and in Camus himself about him, providing a short synopsis on his background and his movement in his career from political journalism to writing essays, stories, and furthermore novels. Growing up, Camus expressed a deep interest to philosophy, which later prevailed in all of his publications as well as his Algerian upbringing. Although his fascinations to the mind and thought were definitely present, he was unable to attend university for philosophy; however, luck struck him when he was able to begin working as a columnist and later dabbled in theatre. In many of his works, he utilized the notion of absurdum and absence, seen heavily in The Myth of Sisyphus and further elaborated upon in the main character of Meursault in The Stranger. By gathering the pieces that occurred in Camus s life, it becomes clearer as to why he wrote the story the way it is and what it means, to him and to others. One of the largest changes from the medieval times was the reason for jousting. At one time knights used jousting, sword fighting and other weapon use to protect the church, but it also became a part of a judicial tool. Jousting was used in judicial Duel and trial by combat. A charge of dishonorable conduct underlies the combat, fought to the death before judges. Not a tournament, it is a form of trial by combat. Many of the surviving fechtbuchs (rules of sword fighting) seem to describe techniques used in the judicial duel that would have been forbidden in the tournament, such as piercing an opponent s foot with the butt spike of a poleaxe (Knighthood). Food can be unethically advertised in a variety of different ways. Fast food restaurants are notorious for doctoring the way their food looks in advertisements to wrongfully reflect how it actually looks when purchased by a consumer. It is also extremely unethical when junk food products or unhealthy food items are advertised towards obese people, or people with eating issues, and young children. It s important to review the different types of unethical advertising that are utilized and also the laws and regulations that are in place to protect the consumer from the unethical advertising. In Europe, the fifth century to the fifteenth century is known as the Middle Ages and to this day is questioned whether to refer it as a dark time or not. Many may say these ages were dark due to barbarian invasions that eventually led to the fall of the Roman Empire. On the other hand what those individuals lacked to take notice of was the significant contribution the Middle Ages brought into Western civilization. Education, philosophy, literature and humanism are prominent factors that have become a part of the sum of progress during this time. Scholars like John of Salisbury are known for their influence and contributions towards the development of human knowledge throughout the Middle Ages. John of Salisbury got his name from his birth place Salisbury, in southern England (1115 1120). Little is known of his family background however, what is known is his years of education and how he became Archbishop Theobald of Canterbury. One of his most famous writing passages is called Metalogicon. The purpose of this book was to address and discredit the attacks made on Trivium which turned out to be a good source in regards to understanding the study of grammar, logic and rhetoric. • 17. Media Portrayal Of Women s Roles And Responsibilities Essay For decades, media images have bombarded the minds of viewers. One of the images which has had a strong influence on society is that of women. Movie stars and actresses have inclined women to see their beauty and talent and encouraged them to follow in their footsteps. A strong desire to emulate talented individuals, in action and dress, has shaped strong beauty and role diversification in a short period of time. With the influx of women cast in moving pictures and (later) television shows, the construction of inaccurate ideas concerning an ideal woman s looks and responsibilities has emerged. Yet, women and young girls continue trying to emulate the roles and images they see on TV. American culture is saturated with messages in mass media and the effects are not always positive on society. The media portrayal of the typical American women s roles and responsibilities has transformed the ideology of what a woman should be. A sociological definition of gender is a system of social practices creating and maintaining differences among people and organizing unequal relations because of differences. As Taylor Chapman puts it, Mass media is especially harmful to women because it constructs negative perceptions of women and reinforces them on a daily basis (2011). • 21. History of American Poetry At its beginning, American poetry was extremely influenced by its European roots. This is evidenced by the fact that the first colonists were English, who also brought along their poetic styles and patterns. These European traits set the standard for the genesis of American poetry, which will later we further developed and adapted by Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson, who are now considered to be the first great American poets. Because of the strong ties to European poetry, American poets wanted to distinguish themselves from their origins and began their crusade to build a new foundation for American poetry. Therefore, the 19th century began with high hopes for poetic accomplishment. The first comprehensive anthologies of American poetry appeared in the 1820s, 1830s, and 1840s. In the first half of the century poets sought to entertain, to inform, and to put into memorable language America s history, myths, manners, and topography, but they did not seek to forge a radical new poetic tradition. Their poetry built upon tradition, and they met the first great goal of American poetry: that it be able to compete in quality, intelligence, and breadth with British poetry. But just as they achieved this goal, poetic aspirations began to change. By the mid 19th century the new goal for American poetry was to create something very different from British poetry. When we view the Hunnish inroad into Europe in the light of the total context of Old World history, it ceases to be a strange inruption of hideous and invincible barbarians darting out of nowhere, as it at first appeared to the Byzantines and Romans. The Huns were a people who had been exposed to a high civilization that of China; they were cultured if illiterate, and in every sense the match of the frightened adversaries whom they met in Europe. When we examine the details of these invasions, we see that it was not one simple inroad, but a series of them in which a perplexing confusion of names is involved. Chief of the newcomers, after the Huns, were the Avars, who arrived in the sixth century. The Huns considered these their kinsmen and equals, and later amalgamated with them after the Avars had, in the eighth century, been defeated by Charlemagne and had retreated, some to Hungary and others to the Don country. • 33. The Factors Of The Aquaculture In Australia Introduction Aquaculture is a major industry world wide but is becoming fast growing in Australia (Moffatt, B. 2008). Aquaculture is defined as the business of farming aquatic animals and plants, under varying degrees of controlled conditions, both in marine and freshwater environments (Daf, 2017). Aquaculture has the potential, through harvesting and farming species, to support the growing demand for seafood (Daf, 2017). Aquaculture produces fish for food, sport, bait and ornamental, as well as crustaceans, molluscs, algae, sea vegetables and fish eggs (NOAA, 2017). Seafood demand has significantly increased over the last three decades, the demand exceeds the supply capable by domestic production and continues to grow everyday (Agriculture, 2017). Aquaculture occurs throughout Australia from the tropical north to the temperate south, the industry is largely based in regional Australia and makes a significant and positive contribution to the regional development (Agriculture, 2017). Specifically, in Chapter Eight, Carr analyzes the evolution of technology that has led to the invention of an efficient, revolutionary organization of knowledge: the search engine. For example, Google provides an online outlet to a seemingly infinite amount of information for internet users worldwide. Google is widely known as a necessity for everyday life: an incredible tool for searching the vast expansions of the world wide web. Carr, frightened by the technological change that Google brings, describes how we are perpetually stuck between two modes of thinking. The online organization of knowledge that Google provides carries both positive and negative arguments; A database of that capacity allows individuals access to knowledge that would otherwise be inaccessible but Google also has a certain control over knowledge which is alarming. Google was created by two young men, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. They combined skills to create the perfect search engine they both envisioned. The now efficient, popular search engine built its image through internet traffic and economically through AdWords. A company as large as Google needs to be efficient, Frederick Winslow Taylor and his idea of the one best method of work, otherwise known as Taylorism, was the perfect fit for the company. • 35. Big Data Technology And Services Essay Big Data Technology and services Logistics 1.0 What Big Data is, and the difference between Online and Offline Big Data in Logistics 1.1 Introduction Big data is not just about having large amounts of data, but it also refers to the complexity of data sets fetched from multiple sources, where traditional data processing methods cannot be sufficient to process the data, and thus requires advanced computing tools and technologies which can be acquired by using distributed processing and cloud technology. In general, Big data excels in three areas: Volume, Variety and Velocity. Volume and Variety is when you are dealing with a huge quantity of data, in all types of forms and all types of sources. Velocity is about additional capabilities offered by distributed processing, which drastically accelerates the computing speed. But, when it comes to logistics, Big data is more than just 3Vs. It goes beyond and presents real world use cases, revealing what is happening now and what could possibly happen in the future. Big data is often unstructured, so you definitely need advance mechanism for interpreting the data. The major challenges faced are data analysing, capturing, curating, storing, searching, querying, updating, sharing, transferring, visualising and security. As of 2012, the size of Big data ranges from a few terabytes to dozens of petabytes. 1.2 Difference Between Online and Offline Big Data Technologies and tools involved in Big data generally fall into two ...
