Who Is To Blame For The Mesmerizer
Marissa MuГ±oz Tom Cody English 1A #6357 September 1, 2014 Mark Twain: The Mesmerizer
Reflecting on the past can lead to many questions and different feelings in the present. In The
Mesmerizer by Mark Twain, Twain confesses the truth behind an event that happened in his teen
years. When Twain confesses the truth to his mother thirty five years later, she does not believe
him. Instead, she believes the lies that were fed to her as she watched her son be hypnotized by
Simmons, the Mesmerizer. This leads to the question, Who is to blame? By reflecting on Twains
past, the Mesmerizer, Twain, and the people are all to blame by partaking in the deception of
others. Simmons, The Mesmerizer, is to blame for conning the people and exploiting the... Show

The people are guilty for taking pleasure in the pain of others and for being gullible. Twain notes
that when the mesmerizer called up the audience to stick pins in Hicks and Twain, the ladies and
gentlemen always complied eagerly (Twain, 3). The people were happy to inflict pain into the
arms of the subject. Being grown adults they should have realized, although Hicks and Twain
seemed to be hypnotized, that there was still going to be consequences to sticking the pins in. The
pin would leave holes in the arms and pain would occur after the hypnotism was over. Rather than
thinking about the consequences of purposefully sticking pins into someone s body, they took
pleasure in inflicting pain. In reality, even though Twain and Simmons were the ones conning the
people, there really wouldn t be a show if the audience wasn t gullible enough to believe in

All of these movements That I research Left Behind A legacy. Everybody has a legacy, what is

people will not forget that women have just as many rights as men. All of these changed how

African Vs Inca Essay
During the Dark Ages in Europe, other civilizations throughout the world were going through a
Golden Era. For instance, the Africans and the Incas made numerous advancements in several
aspects of engineering. The Incas were amazing engineers who build bridges and roads through
the most rocky parts of the Andes Mountains. My first source is an online article titled
Achievements of the Incas from the website Discover Peru. The quote from the article says, They
built a system of roads and bridges across the roughest terrains of the Andes. Through their system
of collective labor and the most advanced centralized economy, the Incas were able to secure
unlimited manual labor. They built more than 14,000 miles of paved road that connected Cusco,...

To start off, my second source is an article titled Great Achievements in Science and Technology
in Africa from the website ASBMB Today. The quote from the article says, ...there are the
engineering feats of the Egyptians: the bafflingly raised obelisks and the more than 80
pyramids...Many advances in metallurgy and tool making were made across the entirety of
ancient Africa. These include steam engines, metal chisels and saws, copper and iron tools and
weapons, nails, glue, carbon steel and bronze weapons and art . This shows us that the Africans
made advancements in engineering because they made tools. Many people used what was around
them but the Africans built more effective things. Also according to the article, Great
Achievements in Science and Technology in Africa, the Egyptians constructed pyramids out of
blocks of stone. This is a major advancement because people had to carve each piece of stone by
hand with no technology. The Africans also made advancements in buildings. They used stone
and granite to build new universities, grand places, and homes. The idea from these two sources
is similar. They are both telling the reader that people who lived long ago made several
advancements in engineering. These two articles clearly send the reader the message that while
Europe was going through a Dark Age , other civilizations around the world were thriving and
going through a Golden

Ethical Dilemma Of The Oil Spill
Ethical Dilemma British petroleum has experienced a series of oil spill accidents since it was
established, however, the 2010 oil spill was considered the worst oil spill accident in the
company s history. The drilling rig in the Deepwater Horizon exploded and killed 11 workers and
released thousands of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico (Arnold McKay 16). The accident
affected different states along the coastline including Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama and
Louisiana. In addition, the oil spillaffected the wild life as it killed birds, fish and destroyed nearby
ecosystems and economies including tourism and fishing. Several factors contributed to the oil
spill accident including cost saving and failure to put in place safety... Show more content on

The organizational culture of arrogance, noncompliance and risk taking contributed to the
accident. The company did not consider corporate social responsibility important and hence it
did not drill the oil in a sustainable way to protect the stakeholders and the environment. Instead,
the company considered profit making a priority instead of the safety of the stakeholders and the
public (Arnold McKay 20). Whistle blowers were laid off and intimidated if they exposed the
company s unethical activities. As a result, the company undertook many projects and it was
focused on working on the frontiers and managing the risk. Besides, the organization protected
itself from stakeholder who questioned the firm s decision to take the risks. The executive
managers did not entertain opposing views. In addition to that, failure to put in place safety
measures and risk management policies contributed to the accident. The OSHA identified flaws in
the company s regulations after the explosion at the Texas oil refinery, but the firm did not
address the issues. Instead, the organization continued to take risks and cut costs and violated the
United States law in order to reduce the costs of producing oil. De Maria identified different
strategies that the company should implement to address the issue and prevent future crises. De
Maria believed the organization should be victim focused and accept the responsibility for the oil
spill. BP accepted the responsibility for the oil spill

Essay On Peter Pan
Transformation refers to the procedure of thoughtful and radical variations in reference of
formation, appearance as well as character. Transformation is particularly very authoritative
because it can never be resisted by any individuals since it is a thing that is meant to happen
regardless of the situation. In Peter Pan: Or the Boy Who Would Not Grow up Play authored by
J.M. Barrie demonstrates how individuals often visualize childhood as a carefree time and an
exciting one without worrying about the actual world. The word never land is utilized as a
representation of fantastical (Barrie and Alton 7). In this context, individuals tend to embrace the
belief that both children fantasies and adult realities are two major differing words... Show more

This is concept of not wanting to grow up is proved throughout the play multiple times. For
instance, he talks with Wendy explaining that he ran away from home saying, I want always to
be a little boy and to have fun (Barrie 15). At the end of the play Peter is terrified to even pretend
to be the boy s father. He says, It is only pretend, isn t is, that I am their father? (Barrie 43). Then
in the lines proceeding he still was questioning Wendy to make sure his role was just pretending
because he does not want any characteristics or responsibilities a grown person has. Wendy, on
the other hand, was not afraid to take on the motherly role of the children. She awakes in the
house and the boys ask her to take on the mother role and she replies, Very well then, I will do
my best (Barrie 32). The concepts of the play follow the relation that exists between children and
adults where their worlds are exclusive mutually as they complement each other (Barrie and Alton
7). There exists a higher association between Wendy and adulthood which helps show her
transformation. This proves Barrie s play was created to showcase the bond between children as
well as adults. This transformation for Wendy is interesting because she took on a mother role in a
child fantasy land that is supposed to be free of responsibility.
The child does not just grow up but they also understand that at a given period they are expected to
abandon their childish

Clinical Laboratory Misconceptions
I recently had the opportunity to meet with Clinical laboratory director Kathleen Penny at Metro
Health Hospital, where I hope to intern this coming January. After settling into Mrs. Penny s office,
I was able to get some insight about what a common misconception is about the clinical laboratory.
Mrs. Penny went on to mention that most misconceptions regarding the laboratorystem from other
medical professionals being surprised at how well educated the laboratory staff is (Penny, K
personal communication). Apparently, many areas of the hospital don t realize that the medical
technologists responsible for the tests done hold a bachelors or associates degree. The degree a
laboratory tech has will determine the complexity of testing that person can be responsible for.

Penny made during our conversation, was No one really knows what we do, a fact I ve come to
learn in my own experience when I explain what my major is. (Penny, 2016). After reading the
title of a story in Gigs I found myself wondering what does a computer chip layout designer do, I
have no idea. I figure something with design of computer chips, but again I can t fathom what
that means. Susie Johnson the woman in this position, explains what her job entails. If I
understand it correctly, she creates a computer chip to contain information that is housed in
symbol format, which she spatially arranges to fit into the chip that she designs. (Bowie, et al. p.
86). In my attempt to understand what this means I am reminded of when Mrs. Penny spoke of
the practical application of a concept. I would have a better understanding of Mrs. Johnson s job
if I visually saw the process and the end result. While I can t fully visualize what Mrs. Johnson
creates, I do see more clearly why people don t venture to guess about my chosen profession, as I
did not even have an inkling as to what a computer chip layout designer does on a daily

Usability An information system is only useful to all of its stakeholders if targeted users
consider it usable. The importance of usability in technology adoption and usage is underscored
by the dedication of substantial amount of HCI research to provide definitions, propose
techniques, methods and guidelines for improving it [1, 6]. Although there is no widely agreed

Scapin and colleagues [53] define Web Usability Guidelines (WUG) as statement[s] ensuring

been used to extensively evaluate health websites and some PHR both for seniors and younger
adults [56, 57]. A Popular WUG is the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) Guideline also called
the Web Content Accessibility Guideline (WCAG). It is a universal guideline aimed at ensuring
that web content is accessible to people with disability (age related or not). A more senior specific
guideline is the checklist from the National Institute of Aging and National Library of Medicine.

Censorship In Harry Potter
According to Ray Bradbury, There is more than one way to burn a book. And the world is full of
people running about with lit matches. Censorship is a controversial topic that continues to gain
attention. As various books are released, opponents that feel offended in some form begin to try
and remove a book from the shelf. If the argument is lucrative enough, that book just might be
removed from the shelf. As that book is removed, all the sudden other books become offensive
and they too may leave the shelf. What happens when all the offensive books are gone? Will there
be books left on the shelf for our children to read? Censorship is a difficult topic to discuss,
however it is something that must be addressed so that school libraries... Show more content on

In my mind it is no different than so many other fantasy stories I have read. I can honestly say I
had not read Harry Potter until this assignment, if for no other reason than it just didn t interest
me. Did I feel like the talk of wizards and spells affected my Christianity belief system?
Absolutely not. I think those that worry their children will want to learn more about witchcraft
after reading the book should be more concerned with prepping their child. My daughter is not
old enough yet to read the book, however, when she is we will have an open honest conversation.
I would hope that the ideals and beliefs that my husband and I have instilled in my child are far
stronger than the power of a book. Yes, books are powerful, but more powerful than parents?
When I took something away from my daughter when she was little it made it that object even
more desirable. If we ban these books, are we not doing the same? We are infringing on their
intellectual freedom to have them decide for themselves what they would like to learn more about.
As parents it is our job to help guide them to what is right and wrong and then pray that we have
done our job effectively. We give them out experiences and help them to identify between reality
and fantasy. Maybe that is why some parents so strongly oppose Harry Potter. They are concerned
they have not given their children the faith system that can sustain an outside perspective. I

Keynesian Theory And The Difference Between Real And...
Economics is not only useful to those who use it to determine future outcomes for the world, but it
is also an important part of society s everyday life. We unknowingly understand concepts derived
from economics when we are trying to make choices of what to buy, what to invest in, when to be
conservative about spending, and much more. Understanding the Keynesian theory and the
difference between real and nominal variables may not directly affect each other, but both play a
part in how we relate economics to our world.
Keynesian theory is a concept developed by John Maynard Keynes, in which it is believed that
governments should intervene with the economy and how it is dealt. Keynesian economists believe
that saving beyond planned investments is a very serious problem that encourages recession. If
saving goes beyond investments, there will not be enough demand to purchase the goods and
services that the economy is producing. Therefore, leading into a recession, or worse a depression.
Keynesian economists believe that a government stimulus is more effective at boosting aggregate
demand than a tax cut because they believe that government intervention is a way to stabilize an
economy.
When governments have programs to benefit people who are doing specific jobs, it will bring that
money back into the economy, unlike tax cuts. If the spending is supported by tax increases then
this will reduce people s incomes after tax, which will ultimately lead them to reduce their

A Study On Recruitment And Hiring Experience
Reflect Upon a Time When you had a Negative Recruiting/Hiring Experience. What Were the Signs
the Experience Wasn t Going Well? A potential applicant telephones the Chaplain Recruiting Office
and this starts an initial telephone consultation (an informal interview). Each recruiter starts
accessing the potential candidatequalifications. During this time the candidate is asked about the
Certificate of Ecclesiastical Endorsement and these individuals are unaware of the process to
acquire the endorsement. When asked who is their denomination endorser, countless individuals
respond that they have no idea about who is the endorser. This is a crucial problem because it
typically is associated with a denomination that is not endorsed by the government. If this is the
case, the recruiter will explain the endorsement process to have the denomination recognized.
Others may not have communicated their intention with the endorser or explaining their desire to
become an Air Force Chaplain. These individuals generally are acquainted with the endorser but did
not understand their role in the recruiting process. Furthermore, questions are asked about any
medical issues to obtain knowledge of potential problems or inform the member they would not be
medically cleared for active duty. This is a significant issue generally with the Roman Catholic
priestbecause they are typically older upon endorsement. In this case, medical clearance is normally
conducted earlier in the process

Assessment Mackenzie Robinson In 13 Reasons Why By Jay Asher
Unit 2 : AssessmentMackenzie Robinson The book I read for this unit was 13 Reasons Why by
Jay Asher. The book is about Hannah, she has a very hard time with life. Her reputation is very
well know, but that is not really who she is. All the different events that have happened , have
formed her reputation. The events and stories about her are all made up. Everyone thinks they
are all true, her reputation is ruined. All the kids at her school continue to think she does stuff
with boys, herself and even girls so they start to make up more stuff that has come from short
clips they see and make it a whole video and add details in themselves. Hannah s problem and the
problem of the book was Hannah being bullied. Her solution took a long time and she was never
really sure until the end of the problems. She never had this thought until an event that triggered
her to think this. She just went along with all the bullying and all the rumors spread. She didn t
want to kill herself in a painful way. After her thought of suicide, she made the choice to make
cassette tapes. Seven of them all but the seventh one with using both side. That counts for 13 tapes

The Theme of Raymond Carver s poem Photograph of My Father In His 22nd Year
Growing up we all had expectations of who we should be imposed upon us by our parents.
Whether or not we achieved those expectations upon reaching adulthood isn t really the final
outcome. There is a greater lesson learned regardless of how we benefited from the imposition. And
that realization is what truly shapes our final character. Raymond Carver entertains this topic in his
poem, Photograph of My Father in His Twenty second Year. In this poem Carver provides us with a

The young man continues in the description saying, In jeans and denim shirt, he leans against
the front fender of a 1934 Ford (6 7). These details help to set up the false image the young man s
father is trying to convey. Upon growing up and then looking back on his father, the young man
is able to provide the retrospective comment, He would like to pose bluff and hearty for his
posterity, wear his old hat cocked over his ear (8 9). This statement illustrates the fact that the
young man, upon looking back, has realized that his father desperately tried to project a self
image uncharacteristic to his actual self. He is fully aware of whom he is looking at, but just like
the kitchen, it feels completely alien to him. The young man states that he can tell his father is
attempting to falsify his look and attitude for the sake of his son. The last line of the stanza
reinforces this idea when the son proclaims, All his life my father wanted to be bold (10). This
comment comes from a young man who has obviously lived his entire life in the shadow of a man
constantly trying to be something he wasn t. The reader gets the idea that the son was constantly
subjected to his father s influence upon him to be tough and masculine just like his dad. The last
line of the stanza relays to the reader the notion that the young man only realized his father s
masked character upon looking back over the course

Smokers in the U.K and U.S.A and the treatment of social pariahs
In recent years, antismoking campaigns has increased due to the harmful effects that are caused by
smoking. People smoke not caring about the consequences that it has not only on them, but also on
other people. In the U.K and U.S.A, campaign might or might not be effective. This essay seeks to
illustrate the cause and effect of antismoking campaigns, T.V advertising, campaigns against
smokers not being allowed N.H.S treatment, and the ban of smoking in public places and also
illustrating the reasons why similar campaigns will not be effective in Saudi Arabia. First, the
causes of antismoking campaigns and T.V advertising will be discussed. Then, the effects of these
T.V advertising and antismoking campaigns will be demonstrated. Finally, the reasons as to why
similar campaign would not be effective in Saudi Arabia will be analysed.
There are many reasons as to why antismoking campaigns and T.V advertising are growing and
expanding worldwide. Smoking does not only affect health, but also affects the environment and
non smokers. The first cause is health. Many individuals smoke not caring about the harm and
dangers that it might do to them. Some argue that they are physically addicted to smoking and
others are just ignorant about the whole thing. Smoking can cause harm to a person s body. It can
cause fatigue and worsen activities which acquire walking, jogging, and other physical activities.

Comparative Religion
Comparative Religion:
Religion is a common set of belief held by different individuals available within a society. Religion
concerns itself with purpose, cause, and nature considered for the creation of a superhuman agency
fitted with several moral codes. The codes provide guidance on how humans should conduct
themselves throughout their life time. Religious beliefs are known to fall into a pattern of 8
different elements such as the belief system, community, central myths, rituals, an ethical system,
experiences of the emotions, expressing religion in a material manner, and the ability of being
sacred (Jacobs, 2005).

The followers of this movement are not allowed to smoke, gamble, take alcohol, engage in a
homosexual behavior and premarital sex, and do drugs. Moreover, they are also required to keep
their jobs and any involved secular connections with the world (Penny, 2005).
In addition to the above ethical system, the followers to this movement are required to carry out
exercises which involve some identified movement styles such as slow qigong while one follower
is seated and four others are standing. The reason behind this is that; the followers to this movement
hold an ethical belief that performing these form of exercises and combining it with the act of
upholding an ethical belief system bring an individual closer to enlightenment after curing certain
diseases.
Falun Gong does not pay attention to all the eight elements of religion since there are others which
are totally absent. The movement has no leader and at the same time does not carry out any form of
rituals unlike the Christian religion. In addition to this, the movement does not hold central myths.
They are however known to express their religion in a material manner such as through performing
exercises while holding a belief that it is a way of keeping illnesses away and enhancing
enlightenment (Penny, 2005).

KOHLBERG S SIX STAGES
Level 1. Preconventional Morality
Stage 1. Obedience and Punishment Orientation. Kohlberg s stage 1 is similar to Piaget s first stage
of moral thought. The child assumes that powerful authorities hand down a fixed set of rules which
he or she must unquestioningly obey. To the Heinz dilemma, the child typically says that Heinz was
wrong to steal the drug because It s against the law, or It s bad to steal, as if this were all there
were to it. When asked to elaborate, the child usually responds in terms of the consequences
involved, explaining that stealing is bad because you ll get punished (Kohlberg, 1958b).

36 42; Kohlberg, 1958b).
If Heinz s motives were good, the druggist s were bad. The druggist, stage 3 subjects emphasize,
was selfish, greedy, and only interested in himself, not another life. Sometimes the respondents
become so angry with the druggist that they say that he ought to be put in jail (Gibbs et al., 1983,
pp. 26 29, 40 42). A typical stage 3 response is that of Don, age 13:
It was really the druggist s fault, he was unfair, trying to overcharge and letting someone die.
Heinz loved his wife and wanted to save her. I think anyone would. I don t think they would put
him in jail. The judge would look at all sides, and see that the druggist was charging too much.
(Kohlberg, 1963, p. 25)
We see that Don defines the issue in terms of the actors character traits and motives. He talks about
the loving husband, the unfair druggist, and the understanding judge. His answer deserves the label
conventional morality because it assumes that the attitude expressed would be shared by the entire
community anyone would be right to do what Heinz did (Kohlberg, 1963, p. 25).
As mentioned earlier, there are similarities between Kohlberg s first three stages and Piaget s two
stages. In both sequences there is a shift from unquestioning obedience to a relativistic outlook and
to a concern for good motives. For Kohlberg, however, these shifts occur in three stages rather than
two.
Stage 4. Maintaining the Social Order.

Physics Roles in Golf
Physics is in everything around us. It is in us driving a car, walking down the street, and pushing
a child on a swing. Physics is also in every sport you have ever played, or watched someone play. It
is involved in a baseball player swinging his bat, or a swimmer cutting through the water. It is also
in golf. In this paper I will discuss three different ways that physics plays a role in the game of
golf. The first is the motion of hitting the ball, or the swing, the second is the spin of the ball,
and the third is the loft of the driver. Let us start with the basic motion of golf, which is swinging
the club and hitting the ball. The golf swing is an example of angular motion. The twist that
golfers have in their swing produces torque on the club, which changes the angular velocity of
the club. The key to getting the ball to travel such long distances lies in the club head velocity.
The faster the club head is going at the bottom of the swing, the further the ball will travel. This
is due to a greater amount of kinetic energy being transferred from the club head to the ball. In

from a different world, someone like a ghost. For them the speaker stands out for apparently all
wrong reasons and she is an outsider to them, in their midst she is an alien. So the speaker sits
scratching throughout her lonely nights. It can be interpreted as she is scratching a desperate
plea a message on a piece of paper. But if we infer the deeper meaning it can also mean that she
is scratching because she is feeling uneasy, she is scratching over the scab of division and the
label that she is a minority. She is scratching over the scab of people treating her minority over
her skin colour. A page doesn t fight back , according to me this is the most powerful line in the
whole poem. By page here she is referring to a minority person like herself. The speaker hopes
that whatever she has spoken so far shoots through the thick layer of stereotypes the community
has set and the noise of repression of the community. So whole carrying on with this life of hers,
the speaker comes across a person who is stranger to her yet there is something about the person
that makes her feel like she knows him or her. The face of the person is pure and simple without
any mask of stereotypes. The speaker can actually read through the persons face and his or her

Best Guitar Strings
After breaking one of my guitar strings broke on my Fender Stratocaster, I decided that I needed
to do some more research on my next set. Turns out that there are hundreds of different strings
varying by everything to the coating to size. So I did what any human would do and googled Best
Guitar Strings .
What I concluded is that there is **no** single answer!
Guitarist tend to choose their string based on quite a few things: How they want their music to sound
, whether that means using distortion or having a clean feel, use string bending, play fingerstyle,
how forceful they are, how much oils and salts seems to impact string life and sound, and how
much they re willing to spend.
On electric guitars, the most ofter used string diameter is a extra light gauge. This set of strings
starts with at .010 for the high E. Some guitarist that prefer a lighter touch and do a ton of string
bending will use a super light set where the high E will start at .009.
On the other side, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
.009, .010. and .011. They all have ups and downs with Heavier strings breaking less from rigorous
playing and Lighter being easier on the fingers for bending.
Now You also have coating options but I m not going to go into that today beside saying that the
High Tech coating that are more expensive and add little string life for the price.
What do I use?
I just swapped from Dunlop Electric Nickel Wound (.009) to the Ernie Ball Regular Slinky
(.010). I found the .009s to be a little light for my liking and they gave a lot of popping or
snapping when played against the frets. From what I ve read .010 gauge strings seem to be a great
middle ground among guitarist compromising on many aspects of the super light and the light .
What would I recommend?
Really you just have to play around with some different gauges and see which ones fit you. It all
depends on the player. For your first set you can t go wrong with the .010

Summary Of The Old Man And The Sea
The Old Man and the Sea
Title: The title of this book is The Old Man and the Sea. The title alone is quite bland and does
not spark my interest, but the story itself is very interesting. The title of the story is self
explanatory in regards to the main character and setting, but the storyline and plot are quite
complex. That being said, the title fits well with the story, and gives the reader a general vision to
being with.
Author: The author of The Old Man and the Sea is Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway is a huge part
of literary history, and was known as an American novelist, short storywriter, and journalist. He
also wrote great books such as For Whom the Bell Tolls , The Garden of Eden , and A Farewell to
Arms . I have not read any other books by this author.
Type of Book: This type of book is nonfiction. This reading would interest an audience that favors
suspense and tragedy. Though I do not typically read books of this genre, this story has actually
inspired my to read more books written by this author.
Characters: The main characters in this book are Santiago (the old man), Manolin (the old man s
sidekick), and the marlin (the fish the old man catches). Santiago goes on a much needed fishing
trip, and finds out a lot about himself during this small escape. Manolin shares these moments with
Santiago, while providing him with a good companion during the trip. One other character that
played a part in the story is baseball great Joe DiMaggio, whom

Jane Austen s Emma
Emma Woodhouse: Awake or Dreaming?
A dream. A world where ideas run wild and imagination is the primary mode of thought. Reality is
a faraway distance. Eventually, the dream comes to an end as reality creeps into sleep and the
fantasy finishes. The story of Jane Austen s Emma is one of a similar account. Emma Woodhouse,
the main character, has an active imagination that causes her to loose sight of reality like getting
lost in dreaming. Her imagination and disposition to think a little too well of herself causes Emma
to be emotionally arrogant and skews her perception of other characters (Austen, 1). Throughout the
novel, Emma struggles to develop emotionally because her dream derived visions of those around

uses her popularity to influence the decision. [T]hough Emma continued to protest against any
assistance being wanted [from Harriet], it was in fact given in the formation of every sentence

Mr. Martin could ever live happily together. Upon hearing of Harriet s rejection to Mr. Martin,
Knightley suspects Emma s attempt to produce a match between Harriet and Mr. Elton. He warns
Emma about the unlikelihood of Mr. Elton reducing himself to Harriet s inferior position through
marriage. While his warning causes Emma to momentarily doubt herself, she quickly erases these
thoughts with a satisfaction which settled her with her own mind, and convinced her... she had
done nothing which woman s friendship and woman s feelings would not justify (43). Evidently,
Emma is easily able to dismiss Mr. Knightley s rational suggestions, satisfied with her own more
amusing ideas. She remains confident in her own imaginative schemes, letting that govern her
conduct. As the novel progresses and Mr. Elton reveals Emma as the true object of his affection,
Emma s prediction and meddling proves to be a failure. In reflecting on her behavior, Emma notes,

Antony And Cleopatra Research Paper
In the year 51 B.C. Cleopatra became queen when she was 18 years old. She ruled with her brother
Ptolemy XIII, who was only 10 years old and not old enough to rule by himself. She also became
his wife, which was a formality because of his age. Cleopatra was strong willed and ambitious. She
wanted to bring her county to the glory of its former days. However Ptolemy s advisers drove
Cleopatra out of Egypt by the time she was 20 years old.
Cleopatra was determined to fight for the throne, so she made an army in Syria and prepared to
go to war against her brother. However, before the battle could begin it was interrupted by the
arrival of Julius Caesar the most powerful man in all of Rome. He was pursuing his defeated rival
in a Roman Civil war. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Octavian allowed Cleopatra to give Antony a lavish funeral, as befitted a king. Then he ordered

The Incredible Mind of Sir Isaac Newton
Isaac Newton was an instrumental figure to the rise of modern science. Through his incredible
mind, he was able to usher in a new age of science that revolved around logic and reason. He had
redefined natural philosophy at the time and had enlightened the world with his mechanistic
world view. However, Newton was not exactly as dedicated to logic and reason as many would
like to think. Newton not only spent a significant amount of his time in the occult sciences such as
alchemy, but was a deeply religious individual as well. Often times, many think of Newton as
being one who pushed away religious faith as a means to uncovering the natural world by solely
depending on the empirical science, however that is incorrect. Newton was very much influenced
by his religious beliefs. In my paper, I aim to bring Newton s religiosity to light and uncover how
it not only influenced his work in the natural science but how it led him to great research in
alchemy as well. I will also focus on why Newton did not bring out his religious inclinations
during his time which would forever change his portrayal in the modern world. In order to answer
my first point of how religioninfluenced Newton s works, I will be relying heavily on Charles
Webster s From Paracelsus to Newton: Magic and the Making of Modern Science and Richard
Westfall s Science and Religion in Seventeenth Century England. I will also be looking at some

Constraint Induced Movement Therapy Essay
Occupational Therapy Interventions
Constraint Induced Movement Therapy Modified Constraint Induced Movement Therapy
Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) is a treatment approach that has been found to
be effective in unilateral (hemiplegic) spastic cerebral palsy. It involves constraint of the less
impaired upper extremity and repetitive practice of the affected arm and hand. Casts, splints, and
slings are used to restrain the unaffected arm while the individual is encouraged to use the
impaired arm. The individual performs motor activities repetitively for up to 6 hours a day for 2

on one side of their bodies. They observed the behavior of the monkeys and how they would drop
objects or fall down with their affected side. However, when the monkeys recovered, they
continued to not use their affected side. This phenomenon was called learned non use. Based on
this research, the basic principles of CIMT were established. Through CIMT, the behaviors of
learned non use are reversed by restraint of the unaffected side along with repetitive practice with
the impaired side. Children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy tend to develop motor skills that rely
primarily on the unaffected arm. Therefore, because of disuse, the impaired arm does not fully
develop. Not having bilateral upper extremity function has an effect on gross and fine motor skills
which ultimately impairs performance of functional activities such as self care, feeding, and
playing. In order to develop motor skills, CIMT is used to gain function in the impaired

When teams commit large amounts of resources to a star player in the free agent market, they
need to focus on both the revenue that player generates and his salary. In order to address the
question of estimating margin revenue product, this paper will focus on a particular star baseball
player and his additional impact on revenue. The following paragraphs present an in depth
explanation of the various possible proxies for revenue and the selection criteria for the star player
used in the research process. Measurements for revenue can stem from multiple different sources,
but the most direct and consistent proxy is attendance. Other data like television contacts or
merchandise sales are difficult to standardized and differentiate between players. At its true form,
when people go to a baseballgame, they are looking for entertainment. Therefore, a star player
should theoretically generate more interest, leading to larger crowd at the ballpark. Furthermore,
data on fan turnout can be easily accessed on the website, Baseball Reference. By using attendance
as a proxy, it allows for a direct and feasible estimation of a star player s added revenue. Although
teams can estimate marginal revenue productivity for any player, this paper specifically examines

The Trading Dynamics of Institutional Investors
The fraction of corporate equity owned by institutional investors has grown considerably in the
past several decades; institutional holding of shares in U.S. equities has increased from
approximately 16% in 1965 to over 50% in 2010 (Federal Reserve Board, 2011). The fact that
institutional investors are managing such a sizable wealth invested in U.S. equity market has
potential important role in term of setting market prices. The growing impact of institutional
investors on capital markets has induced to increased research on the behavior of this group of
investors both by academics and policy makers, who tend to believe that institutional investorfollow
momentum based strategies, and often are alleged to herdinglike behavior and following
destabilizing trading strategies.
Recent studies investigating the behavior of institutional investors document three main results.
First, institutional investors are momentum traders (buying past winners and selling past losers)
and are more likely to follow past prices (citet*{grinblatt1995momentum}). Second, Institutional
investors sometimes trade in the same direction over a period of time or engage in herding behavior
(citet{wermers1999mutual}). Finally, the contemporaneous association between changes in
quarterly institutional holding and quarterly stock returns is much stronger than the feedback
trading effect (citet{nofsinger1999herding,wermers1999mutual}).

Absolutism And The Renaissance The Reformation
The Renaissance is known as a turning point in the history and produced essential changes in all
areas of European society and knowledge. During this time period there was a newfound interest in
philosophy and the importance of understanding the world. Scholars of this time looked at Greek
and Roman ideas about the world, as well as expanding on the idea of humanism and the shift away
from the church. The increase of humanism put more emphasis on the state and the individual and
less emphasis on the clergy. Challenges to Church authority through the Renaissanceand Scientific

This expansion in turn played a major role in the many other transformations social, political, and
cultural of the early modern age. The Renaissance renewed interest in classical culture, which led
to far reaching changes in art, learning, and views of the world. This era led to the rediscovery of
the idea of Greek city states, the direct democracy, arts, literature and philosophy. The idea of
natural law and the ideal man were reinvented and Plato s book The Republic developed this idea
that reason was better than power, which is ironic when we look at the age of absolutism. Before
the Age of Absolutism and after the Renaissance we had the Roman Empire, which was a republic
and had separate branches of government with senate. Between the Renaissance and the Age of
Absolutism, there was a rise of university literacy, a movement away from one central church and
authority, and increase in scientific inquiry and independence of thought and a movement towards
child centered education. These two eras had many positive contributions to western civilization, as
well as those that hurt civilization. Without the Renaissance and the shifting to an absolute

Adam and some of the people he works with made a video called Seven Minutes of Terror about a

Instead, engineers came up with a maneuver that would allow the craft carrying Curiosity to turn
quickly. Then, rockets would turn on and allow Curiosity to make a vertical landing.
Switching from a parachute to a controlled rocket descent could have gone wrong at any time. Still,
even getting the descent right was not enough to succeed. Once the parachute was cut free, the
force from the rockets could raise so much dust that the dust itself could damage the rover.
Always thinking ahead, the engineers came up with a solution. They created a device to
complete the last step of the landing. The device was called a sky crane. When the sky crane was
close to Mars s surface, it used a set of cables to lower Curiosity onto the ground.
At last Curiosity landed, going from 13,000 miles per hour to zero in just seven minutes. The
capsule that had been carrying Curiosity still had all its rockets firing. It blasted back into the sky
and landed somewhere else on the planet. The landing was a success.

book, therefore we are seeing changes through her point of view; so we only see Calpurnia
changing through the eyes of Scout, but they were not in actuality... Show more content on

Towards Jem, we see instances in Calpurnia in which she almost seems soft. For example, after
Jem wrecks Mrs. Dubose s camellia, and the kids were skulking around, Calpurnia knew Jem
was upset, and gave him a hot biscuit and butter. One may argue this is the beginning of a
change in Calpurnia, but we may look at it as Cal just being a mom. One can refute the
argument of change that Scout is just beginning to see the good side of her and why Cal does
what she does. She has already gone through the phases with her own children, and know how it
is herself growing up. In the middle of To Kill a Mockingbird, Jem is starting to grow up and is
becoming a teenager. This is evident by Scout s overwhelming frustration with Jem in the quote,
His maddening superiority was unbearable these days. He didn t want to do anything but read and
go off by himself. (Lee 184) Calpurnia, being the experienced mother/caregiver she is, had seen
that, and started giving Jem his space, and started calling him Mister Jem . Scout realizes Calpurnia
is not as bad as she once thought. Scout realizes Calpurnia can be nice when given the chance.
During Tom Robinson s trial, Scout starts to understand the entirety of racial injustice. We see this
when Scout meets the lynch mob outside Tom s cell before the trial, and she stopped them by
talking to and embarrassing Mr. Cunningham. It was not until after that night

make people s lives rough or even make people crazy. Who or what the spirit did or acted in life
can determine how dangerous or gentle the spirit will become. Now that people can determine

Steppenwolf Observation Essay
Among all segments, Steppenwolf was considered the strongest, most daring (without being avant
garde), and most reputable of all the larger regional theaters (set: Goodman, Chicago Shakespeare
and Steppenwolf).
Steppenwolf is viewed as a special occasion that requires planning. While there are elements that
feel like a hassle, at its best Steppenwolf is a welcome break from the mundane routine that governs
middle life. It is an out of the ordinary intellectual emotional journey that sparks greater self
awareness and this is widely appreciated by current and prospective patrons.
In spite of differences in attendance behavior, all respondents were able to articulate the core
benefits and drivers of a Steppenwolf experience.
All segments agree that attending a show at Steppenwolf is a special occasion, and it s a treat. ...

Disappointing Tragedy Of Suicide Squad
Disappointing Tragedy in Suicide Squad
Suicide Squad (2016) is a comic book based movie that was announced late 2014 with the
expectation of being a thrilling film. David Ayer, the director of Suicide Squad, has many years
of experience working on action based movies. Some familiar movies that he directed are: The
Fast and the Furious (2001), S.W.A.T (2003), and Fury (2014). Some of these films received
double the ratings Suicide Squad obtained. In spite of Ayer s professional history, he failed to make
an appealing movie. The Unorganized editing, negligent lovers story, and incorrect character
portrayal, are just some reasons Suicide Squad received low ratings from many trustworthy movie
critics.

Moreover, our price will be competitive and services will be of high quality.
Research revealed that the two Daycare Centers in our vicinity charge approximately $175 a
week. While the in school before and after school care charges $118 per week. However, their
pick up time range between 5:30pm and 6:30pm, whilst ours 8:00pm. The extended time and
competitive weekly price of $120 per child make us more competitive. According to US Census
Bureau, there are 2,564 elementary school kids (grades 1 8) in the Montclair community. Moreover,
the median household income in this area is $119,105 (2010 2014 American Community Survey 5
Year Estimates). This is a clear manifestation that parents of this community have the financial
propensity to shoulder the cost associated with this program.
Marketing Strategy Summary

entails who is served on the need basis, the cost of service that attracts customers as well as the

The Physics Of Golf Ball
Fore! A Newtonian and Projectile Motion Study of the Golf Swing
Physics Around Campus
Tim Stoddard
Physics 102
Spring 2015
Figure 1 below depicts a snap shot of the compact and physics ridden entity known as a golf
swing. Taken at my home in Olympia, WA, this picture was taken moments before the impact
between my driver and the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball. The game of golf is riddled with physics
concepts governing everything from the power generated in the swing, to every impact with the
ball, to even the motion of the ball in the air and on the ground. Everything is governed by and
can be explained by physics concepts. However, this paper will focus on the impact of the
clubface and the ball (governed by Newtonian physics) and then its subsequent flight in the air as
a projectile. We will look at both the first and second laws that Isaac Newton proposed as well as
the resulting equations and concepts that come into effect when the ball is launched. The paper
will conclude with a brief aside on the history surrounding the golf ball and its evolution, and
subsequently why (in terms of physics) the golf ball embodies a very unique and well known
physical form.
To begin, consider a ball resting on the tee as can be seen in Figure 1. Before the golfer even begins
his swing, we see evidence of our first physics concept. The ball is resting on the tee and is
remaining there and ceasing to move because of Newton s first law of

Essay On Thurgood Marshall
Throughout history, there has been discrimination against race, religion, gender, orientation, age,
among many other things. From the British preventing the colonists rights to the separate but equal
doctrine people used to justify discrimination against African Americans, America has had its fair
share of it. After years of the mockery of equality that African Americans had, change was needed.
Out of the thousands of voices who brought the winds of change, that were heard the most were:
Martin Luther King Jr., for convincing people to join their cause; Thurgood Marshall, who used the
law to get people to listen to their voices; and the Silent Majority, for without them, freedom would
never truly ring from every mountainside.
While King was the spokesperson, the Silent Majority were the people who really pushed for civil
rights. They were the ones who did the sit ins, boycotts, strikes, and protests. While the
organizations such as the NAACP ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

when there was an all white school close to her house. Her parents hired Marshall on her behalf
to find a way to desegregate schools so black students could go to the same school. This resulted
in his most famous case, Brown v. Board of Education, which argued that it was unconstitutional
for schools to be segregated. (The Road to Civil Rights) Because of his victory in the Supreme
Court, the Little Rock Nine could desegregate Little Rock Central High School, and the only
legal way to get them out of the school was to close it. While working for the NAACP, he also
won several other cases that would pave the way for equality for all, and went on to become the
first African American Supreme Court justice. (The Road to Civil Rights) His efforts helped

Coastguard Search And Rescue (SAR)
Search and Rescue (SAR) is one of the Coast Guards oldest missions. Minimizing the loss of life,
injury, property damage or loss by rendering aid to persons in distress has always been one of the
Coast Guards top priorities. On the early morning of November 16, 2017 around 8:45 AM,
Coast Guard Station Washington overheard a terrifying event taking place on their local
channel 17 radio. There was a forty foot pleasure craft vessel on fire with two people on board,
along with eight other people in the water occurring in the mouth of the Washington channel by
Haines Point. A crew of five experienced Boat Crew members worked quickly to get underway
on their 29 foot small response boat. Once underway and on scene at 9:00 AM there were already
other multiple government agencies responding. The Coxswain, BM3 Westoby was surveying the
scene and noticed Fire boat 201 was fighting the fire on the forty foot pleasure... Show more content

Thankfully nobody including the small child was injured and didn t need any immediate
medical attention. Once all the victims were tended to they were transported to Haines Point to
the local land units and the crew of the 29 foot RBS conducted a security perimeter while fire
boat 201 finished fighting the fire. Once fire boat 201 finished fighting the fire and no longer
needed any coast guard assistance, the crew of the 29 foot RBS got permission to return to base.
Once asked about what went on in your head when you heard what you needed to get underway
for? BM3 Westoby stated My first thought was to respond as fast and safely as possible by
limiting the person s time in the 49 degree water . There were many agencies on scene to do one
thing and that was to mitigate the situation , said BM3 Westoby. Together we all flawlessly did
just that and were able to have all survivors go home safety, which is the most important and

Price Elasticity Of Demand Essay

Elasticity:
The Responsiveness of Demand and
Supply
SOLUTIONS TO END OF CHAPTER EXERCISES
Answers to Thinking Critically Questions
1. Even if the overall demand for gasoline is inelastic, a revenue increase for Joe s Gas and Go
will occur only if the percentage increase in price is greater than the percentage decrease in quantity
demanded. If
Joe s price increase is too large and Joe has other competitors who do not raise their prices, then it
is possible that the percentage decrease in quantity demanded will result in a decrease in total
revenue.
2. If Wal Mart and Sam s Club begin selling gasoline at lower prices than the conventional service
stations, this will cause the demand curves faced by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

CHAPTER 6 | Elasticity: The Responsiveness of Demand and Supply
1.8
No, we don t have enough information to calculate the price elasticity of demand. To calculate the
price elasticity of demand we would need to know how the quantity demanded changed in response
to a change in price keeping all other things constant. In this case other things were not held
constant: academic offerings were bolstered with at least three hands on experiences outside the
classroom, which created a buzz. This suggests that there was a shift in the demand curve and not
just a movement along it. 1.9
Using the midpoint formula, the percentage change in price = ($99 $199/$149) = 67%. Using the
midpoint formula, if sales double, then the percentage change in quantity will equal 67%. The
price elasticity of demand is 67%/ 67% = 1. Using the midpoint formula, if sales triple, then the
percentage change in quantity demanded will equal 100%. In this case, the price elasticity of
demand will be 100%/
67% = 1.49.

The Case Of The American Legal System
The question what is law?, is important to understand law and to the extent to which particular
institutions have been accorded power to make or pronounce law. It is important for lawyers,
policymakers, politicians and those working in the field of social science academia to understand
that the meaning and the scope of law exceeds the basic premises of assumption that law is what
the legislature passes as a statute, or law is what a court applies, etc. because that is the way our
political order is constructed, etc. Since laws takes various forms, a legal system is needed to
interpret and enforce the law in the society through the procedures or process from the systematic
nature of law and the examination of the presuppositions and... Show more content on

Madison exemplifies that understanding . Since the US legal system is based on federalism. The
Tenth Amendment of the U.S constitution shift the power and legal authority away from the states
and towards the federal government. The federal government gains more power over the state but
there is a certain jurisdiction of boundaries that the federal can exercise their power over the state.
The law deals with the fundamental principles by which the federal government exercises its
authority. In the American constitutional system, the authority of government is defined, limited,
and distributed by the fundamental law of the United States Constitution. The U.S constitution is a
body of written basic law and is superior to and takes precedence over all ordinary acts of Congress
and state legislatures and over all decision and actions of the executive branches of the national and
state government. That s why it divides the national government into three branches legislative,
executive and judicial. This will separate the power of the branches of the government and at the
same time check and balances the actions of other branches. Constitution law is most often
associated with fundamental rights like equal protection, the right to bear arms, freedom of religion

  • 2. Who Is To Blame For The Mesmerizer Marissa MuГ±oz Tom Cody English 1A #6357 September 1, 2014 Mark Twain: The Mesmerizer Reflecting on the past can lead to many questions and different feelings in the present. In The Mesmerizer by Mark Twain, Twain confesses the truth behind an event that happened in his teen years. When Twain confesses the truth to his mother thirty five years later, she does not believe him. Instead, she believes the lies that were fed to her as she watched her son be hypnotized by Simmons, the Mesmerizer. This leads to the question, Who is to blame? By reflecting on Twains past, the Mesmerizer, Twain, and the people are all to blame by partaking in the deception of others. Twain notes that when the mesmerizer called up the audience to stick pins in Hicks and Twain, the ladies and gentlemen always complied eagerly (Twain, 3). The people were happy to inflict pain into the arms of the subject. Being grown adults they should have realized, although Hicks and Twain seemed to be hypnotized, that there was still going to be consequences to sticking the pins in. The pin would leave holes in the arms and pain would occur after the hypnotism was over. Rather than thinking about the consequences of purposefully sticking pins into someone s body, they took pleasure in inflicting pain. • 5. African Vs Inca Essay During the Dark Ages in Europe, other civilizations throughout the world were going through a Golden Era. For instance, the Africans and the Incas made numerous advancements in several aspects of engineering. The Incas were amazing engineers who build bridges and roads through the most rocky parts of the Andes Mountains. My first source is an online article titled Achievements of the Incas from the website Discover Peru. The quote from the article says, They built a system of roads and bridges across the roughest terrains of the Andes. Through their system of collective labor and the most advanced centralized economy, the Incas were able to secure unlimited manual labor. They built more than 14,000 miles of paved road that connected Cusco,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To start off, my second source is an article titled Great Achievements in Science and Technology in Africa from the website ASBMB Today. The quote from the article says, ...there are the engineering feats of the Egyptians: the bafflingly raised obelisks and the more than 80 pyramids...Many advances in metallurgy and tool making were made across the entirety of ancient Africa. These include steam engines, metal chisels and saws, copper and iron tools and weapons, nails, glue, carbon steel and bronze weapons and art . This shows us that the Africans made advancements in engineering because they made tools. Many people used what was around them but the Africans built more effective things. Also according to the article, Great Achievements in Science and Technology in Africa, the Egyptians constructed pyramids out of blocks of stone. This is a major advancement because people had to carve each piece of stone by hand with no technology. The Africans also made advancements in buildings. They used stone and granite to build new universities, grand places, and homes. The idea from these two sources is similar. They are both telling the reader that people who lived long ago made several advancements in engineering. These two articles clearly send the reader the message that while Europe was going through a Dark Age , other civilizations around the world were thriving and going through a Golden ... • 6. Ethical Dilemma Of The Oil Spill Ethical Dilemma British petroleum has experienced a series of oil spill accidents since it was established, however, the 2010 oil spill was considered the worst oil spill accident in the company s history. The drilling rig in the Deepwater Horizon exploded and killed 11 workers and released thousands of barrels of oil into the Gulf of Mexico (Arnold McKay 16). The accident affected different states along the coastline including Texas, Mississippi, Florida, Alabama and Louisiana. In addition, the oil spillaffected the wild life as it killed birds, fish and destroyed nearby ecosystems and economies including tourism and fishing. The organizational culture of arrogance, noncompliance and risk taking contributed to the accident. The company did not consider corporate social responsibility important and hence it did not drill the oil in a sustainable way to protect the stakeholders and the environment. Instead, the company considered profit making a priority instead of the safety of the stakeholders and the public (Arnold McKay 20). Whistle blowers were laid off and intimidated if they exposed the company s unethical activities. As a result, the company undertook many projects and it was focused on working on the frontiers and managing the risk. Besides, the organization protected itself from stakeholder who questioned the firm s decision to take the risks. The executive managers did not entertain opposing views. In addition to that, failure to put in place safety measures and risk management policies contributed to the accident. The OSHA identified flaws in the company s regulations after the explosion at the Texas oil refinery, but the firm did not address the issues. Instead, the organization continued to take risks and cut costs and violated the United States law in order to reduce the costs of producing oil. De Maria identified different strategies that the company should implement to address the issue and prevent future crises. De Maria believed the organization should be victim focused and accept the responsibility for the oil spill. BP accepted the responsibility for the oil spill ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Essay On Peter Pan Transformation refers to the procedure of thoughtful and radical variations in reference of formation, appearance as well as character. Transformation is particularly very authoritative because it can never be resisted by any individuals since it is a thing that is meant to happen regardless of the situation. In Peter Pan: Or the Boy Who Would Not Grow up Play authored by J.M. Barrie demonstrates how individuals often visualize childhood as a carefree time and an exciting one without worrying about the actual world. The word never land is utilized as a representation of fantastical (Barrie and Alton 7). In this context, individuals tend to embrace the belief that both children fantasies and adult realities are two major differing words... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is concept of not wanting to grow up is proved throughout the play multiple times. For instance, he talks with Wendy explaining that he ran away from home saying, I want always to be a little boy and to have fun (Barrie 15). At the end of the play Peter is terrified to even pretend to be the boy s father. He says, It is only pretend, isn t is, that I am their father? (Barrie 43). Then in the lines proceeding he still was questioning Wendy to make sure his role was just pretending because he does not want any characteristics or responsibilities a grown person has. Wendy, on the other hand, was not afraid to take on the motherly role of the children. She awakes in the house and the boys ask her to take on the mother role and she replies, Very well then, I will do my best (Barrie 32). The concepts of the play follow the relation that exists between children and adults where their worlds are exclusive mutually as they complement each other (Barrie and Alton 7). There exists a higher association between Wendy and adulthood which helps show her transformation. This proves Barrie s play was created to showcase the bond between children as well as adults. This transformation for Wendy is interesting because she took on a mother role in a child fantasy land that is supposed to be free of responsibility. The child does not just grow up but they also understand that at a given period they are expected to abandon their childish ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If the argument is lucrative enough, that book just might be removed from the shelf. As that book is removed, all the sudden other books become offensive and they too may leave the shelf. I think those that worry their children will want to learn more about witchcraft after reading the book should be more concerned with prepping their child. My daughter is not old enough yet to read the book, however, when she is we will have an open honest conversation. I would hope that the ideals and beliefs that my husband and I have instilled in my child are far stronger than the power of a book. Yes, books are powerful, but more powerful than parents? • 11. Keynesian Theory And The Difference Between Real And... Economics is not only useful to those who use it to determine future outcomes for the world, but it is also an important part of society s everyday life. We unknowingly understand concepts derived from economics when we are trying to make choices of what to buy, what to invest in, when to be conservative about spending, and much more. Understanding the Keynesian theory and the difference between real and nominal variables may not directly affect each other, but both play a part in how we relate economics to our world. Keynesian theory is a concept developed by John Maynard Keynes, in which it is believed that governments should intervene with the economy and how it is dealt. Keynesian economists believe that saving beyond planned investments is a very serious problem that encourages recession. If saving goes beyond investments, there will not be enough demand to purchase the goods and services that the economy is producing. Therefore, leading into a recession, or worse a depression. Keynesian economists believe that a government stimulus is more effective at boosting aggregate demand than a tax cut because they believe that government intervention is a way to stabilize an economy. When governments have programs to benefit people who are doing specific jobs, it will bring that money back into the economy, unlike tax cuts. If the spending is supported by tax increases then this will reduce people s incomes after tax, which will ultimately lead them to reduce their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A potential applicant telephones the Chaplain Recruiting Office and this starts an initial telephone consultation (an informal interview). During this time the candidate is asked about the Certificate of Ecclesiastical Endorsement and these individuals are unaware of the process to acquire the endorsement. When asked who is their denomination endorser, countless individuals respond that they have no idea about who is the endorser. This is a crucial problem because it typically is associated with a denomination that is not endorsed by the government. If this is the case, the recruiter will explain the endorsement process to have the denomination recognized. Others may not have communicated their intention with the endorser or explaining their desire to become an Air Force Chaplain. These individuals generally are acquainted with the endorser but did not understand their role in the recruiting process. Sometimes the respondents become so angry with the druggist that they say that he ought to be put in jail (Gibbs et al., 1983, pp. 26 29, 40 42). A typical stage 3 response is that of Don, age 13: It was really the druggist s fault, he was unfair, trying to overcharge and letting someone die. Heinz loved his wife and wanted to save her. I think anyone would. I don t think they would put him in jail. The judge would look at all sides, and see that the druggist was charging too much. His answer deserves the label conventional morality because it assumes that the attitude expressed would be shared by the entire community anyone would be right to do what Heinz did (Kohlberg, 1963, p. 25). • 20. Physics Roles in Golf Physics is in everything around us. It is in us driving a car, walking down the street, and pushing a child on a swing. Physics is also in every sport you have ever played, or watched someone play. It is involved in a baseball player swinging his bat, or a swimmer cutting through the water. It is also in golf. In this paper I will discuss three different ways that physics plays a role in the game of golf. The first is the motion of hitting the ball, or the swing, the second is the spin of the ball, and the third is the loft of the driver. Let us start with the basic motion of golf, which is swinging the club and hitting the ball. The golf swing is an example of angular motion. The twist that golfers have in their swing produces torque on the club, which changes the angular velocity of the club. The key to getting the ball to travel such long distances lies in the club head velocity. The faster the club head is going at the bottom of the swing, the further the ball will travel. This is due to a greater amount of kinetic energy being transferred from the club head to the ball. In other words, if a golfer can get the right twist down at the right time, the club will be sped up when it connects with the ball. Most professional golfers can achieve speeds of around 100 MPH at the bottom of their swing. Who would have thought that there would be so much science behind what seems to be a simple golf swing? Turns out that there are hundreds of different strings varying by everything to the coating to size. So I did what any human would do and googled Best Guitar Strings . What I concluded is that there is **no** single answer! Guitarist tend to choose their string based on quite a few things: How they want their music to sound , whether that means using distortion or having a clean feel, use string bending, play fingerstyle, how forceful they are, how much oils and salts seems to impact string life and sound, and how much they re willing to spend. On electric guitars, the most ofter used string diameter is a extra light gauge. This set of strings starts with at .010 for the high E. The title alone is quite bland and does not spark my interest, but the story itself is very interesting. The title of the story is self explanatory in regards to the main character and setting, but the storyline and plot are quite complex. That being said, the title fits well with the story, and gives the reader a general vision to being with. Author: The author of The Old Man and the Sea is Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway is a huge part of literary history, and was known as an American novelist, short storywriter, and journalist. He also wrote great books such as For Whom the Bell Tolls , The Garden of Eden , and A Farewell to Arms . I have not read any other books by this author. Type of Book: This type of book is nonfiction. This reading would interest an audience that favors suspense and tragedy. Though I do not typically read books of this genre, this story has actually inspired my to read more books written by this author. Characters: The main characters in this book are Santiago (the old man), Manolin (the old man s sidekick), and the marlin (the fish the old man catches). Santiago goes on a much needed fishing trip, and finds out a lot about himself during this small escape. Upon hearing of Harriet s rejection to Mr. Martin, Knightley suspects Emma s attempt to produce a match between Harriet and Mr. Elton. • 26. The Incredible Mind of Sir Isaac Newton Isaac Newton was an instrumental figure to the rise of modern science. Through his incredible mind, he was able to usher in a new age of science that revolved around logic and reason. He had redefined natural philosophy at the time and had enlightened the world with his mechanistic world view. However, Newton was not exactly as dedicated to logic and reason as many would like to think. Newton not only spent a significant amount of his time in the occult sciences such as alchemy, but was a deeply religious individual as well. Often times, many think of Newton as being one who pushed away religious faith as a means to uncovering the natural world by solely depending on the empirical science, however that is incorrect. Newton was very much influenced by his religious beliefs. In my paper, I aim to bring Newton s religiosity to light and uncover how it not only influenced his work in the natural science but how it led him to great research in alchemy as well. I will also focus on why Newton did not bring out his religious inclinations during his time which would forever change his portrayal in the modern world. In order to answer my first point of how religioninfluenced Newton s works, I will be relying heavily on Charles Webster s From Paracelsus to Newton: Magic and the Making of Modern Science and Richard Westfall s Science and Religion in Seventeenth Century England. This phenomenon was called learned non use. Based on this research, the basic principles of CIMT were established. Through CIMT, the behaviors of learned non use are reversed by restraint of the unaffected side along with repetitive practice with the impaired side. Children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy tend to develop motor skills that rely primarily on the unaffected arm. Therefore, because of disuse, the impaired arm does not fully develop. The following paragraphs present an in depth explanation of the various possible proxies for revenue and the selection criteria for the star player used in the research process. Measurements for revenue can stem from multiple different sources, but the most direct and consistent proxy is attendance. Other data like television contacts or merchandise sales are difficult to standardized and differentiate between players. At its true form, when people go to a baseballgame, they are looking for entertainment. Therefore, a star player should theoretically generate more interest, leading to larger crowd at the ballpark. Furthermore, data on fan turnout can be easily accessed on the website, Baseball Reference. The fact that institutional investors are managing such a sizable wealth invested in U.S. equity market has potential important role in term of setting market prices. Recent studies investigating the behavior of institutional investors document three main results. First, institutional investors are momentum traders (buying past winners and selling past losers) and are more likely to follow past prices (citet*{grinblatt1995momentum}). Second, Institutional investors sometimes trade in the same direction over a period of time or engage in herding behavior (citet{wermers1999mutual}). Once the parachute was cut free, the force from the rockets could raise so much dust that the dust itself could damage the rover. Always thinking ahead, the engineers came up with a solution. In spite of differences in attendance behavior, all respondents were able to articulate the core benefits and drivers of a Steppenwolf experience. All segments agree that attending a show at Steppenwolf is a special occasion, and it s a treat. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 47. The Physics Of Golf Ball Fore! A Newtonian and Projectile Motion Study of the Golf Swing Physics Around Campus Tim Stoddard Physics 102 Spring 2015 Figure 1 below depicts a snap shot of the compact and physics ridden entity known as a golf swing. Taken at my home in Olympia, WA, this picture was taken moments before the impact between my driver and the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball. The game of golf is riddled with physics concepts governing everything from the power generated in the swing, to every impact with the ball, to even the motion of the ball in the air and on the ground. Everything is governed by and can be explained by physics concepts. However, this paper will focus on the impact of the clubface and the ball (governed by Newtonian physics) and then its subsequent flight in the air as a projectile. We will look at both the first and second laws that Isaac Newton proposed as well as the resulting equations and concepts that come into effect when the ball is launched. The paper will conclude with a brief aside on the history surrounding the golf ball and its evolution, and subsequently why (in terms of physics) the golf ball embodies a very unique and well known physical form. To begin, consider a ball resting on the tee as can be seen in Figure 1. Before the golfer even begins his swing, we see evidence of our first physics concept. The ball is resting on the tee and is remaining there and ceasing to move because of Newton s first law of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Essay On Thurgood Marshall Throughout history, there has been discrimination against race, religion, gender, orientation, age, among many other things. From the British preventing the colonists rights to the separate but equal doctrine people used to justify discrimination against African Americans, America has had its fair share of it. After years of the mockery of equality that African Americans had, change was needed. Out of the thousands of voices who brought the winds of change, that were heard the most were: Martin Luther King Jr., for convincing people to join their cause; Thurgood Marshall, who used the law to get people to listen to their voices; and the Silent Majority, for without them, freedom would never truly ring from every mountainside. While King was the spokesperson, the Silent Majority were the people who really pushed for civil rights. They were the ones who did the sit ins, boycotts, strikes, and protests. Board of Education, which argued that it was unconstitutional for schools to be segregated. (The Road to Civil Rights) Because of his victory in the Supreme Court, the Little Rock Nine could desegregate Little Rock Central High School, and the only legal way to get them out of the school was to close it. On the early morning of November 16, 2017 around 8:45 AM, Coast Guard Station Washington overheard a terrifying event taking place on their local channel 17 radio. There was a forty foot pleasure craft vessel on fire with two people on board, along with eight other people in the water occurring in the mouth of the Washington channel by Haines Point. A crew of five experienced Boat Crew members worked quickly to get underway on their 29 foot small response boat. Even if the overall demand for gasoline is inelastic, a revenue increase for Joe s Gas and Go will occur only if the percentage increase in price is greater than the percentage decrease in quantity demanded. If Joe s price increase is too large and Joe has other competitors who do not raise their prices, then it is possible that the percentage decrease in quantity demanded will result in a decrease in total revenue. 2. If Wal Mart and Sam s Club begin selling gasoline at lower prices than the conventional service stations, this will cause the demand curves faced by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Total revenue fell during this time from $36,359,219 to $33,312,474. 123 CHAPTER 6 | Elasticity: The Responsiveness of Demand and Supply 1.8 No, we don t have enough information to calculate the price elasticity of demand. To calculate the price elasticity of demand we would need to know how the quantity demanded changed in response to a change in price keeping all other things constant. In this case other things were not held constant: academic offerings were bolstered with at least three hands on experiences outside the classroom, which created a buzz. This suggests that there was a shift in the demand curve and not just a movement along it. 1.9 Using the midpoint formula, the percentage change in price = ($99 $199/$149) = 67%. Using the midpoint formula, if sales double, then the percentage change in quantity will equal 67%. The price elasticity of demand is 67%/ 67% = 1. Using the midpoint formula, if sales triple, then the percentage change in quantity demanded will equal 100%. In this case, the price elasticity of demand will be 100%/ 67% = 1.49. 1.10 Suppose Ford did

It is important for lawyers, policymakers, politicians and those working in the field of social science academia to understand that the meaning and the scope of law exceeds the basic premises of assumption that law is what the legislature passes as a statute, or law is what a court applies, etc. because that is the way our political order is constructed, etc. Since laws takes various forms, a legal system is needed to interpret and enforce the law in the society through the procedures or process from the systematic nature of law and the examination of the presuppositions and... The law deals with the fundamental principles by which the federal government exercises its authority. In the American constitutional system, the authority of government is defined, limited, and distributed by the fundamental law of the United States Constitution. The U.S constitution is a body of written basic law and is superior to and takes precedence over all ordinary acts of Congress and state legislatures and over all decision and actions of the executive branches of the national and state government. That s why it divides the national government into three branches legislative, executive and judicial.
