Genetic Modifying Children
Genetically modifying children Genetically modifying children is a new concept and a possible
actuality that can happen in the future. While research progresses to make genetic modification a
reality many up and coming parents think about the possibility to genetically modify their child
to create a greater overall human. Although creating a more improved human has benefits such
as greater increased resistant to diseases and medical conditions genetic modification, it will
cause an issue even larger which is a societal gap. A societal gap can cause a negative affect in
society which effects all races and cultures. This societal gap can all be caused because of the
genetic modification of children. Because of a child being genetically modified

Composite Index Fund And The FidelityпїЅпїЅ Floating Rate High...
Historically, people invest their money in mutual funds as a means to generate extra income. This
can be separated into either stocks or bonds, with each having their specialty in a portfolio. The
following report provides an analysis of two funds, the FidelityВ® NasdaqВ® Composite Index
Fund (FNCMX) and the FidelityВ® Floating Rate High Income Fund (FFRHX). The analysis of
the yearly returns of each fund from 2005 2014 will include the risk and return for investing in each
with key statistics such as mean, median, standard deviation, and range for indicators of their
performance. These statistics will be paired with visuals so the client can have a visual
representation of what they look like. The analysis will also compare the performance... Show more

For the median of FLPSX, half of the ten years had yearly return earnings higher than 10.2650 and
half lower than 10.2650, while FFRHX had a smaller median of 4.0750. Both funds also do not
have modes, another measurement of central location. The measurements in the table mean that
FNCMX would have a higher investment return per year than the FFRHX as it more than doubles
the return for both the mean and the median (10.97 mean return 4.7150 mean return and 10.265
median 4.0750). Both mutual funds had positively skewed distributions because the means were
greater than the medians.
Investment Risk For a client to fully comprehend an investment option, it is crucial to know the
investment risk associated with it. This is done through measures of dispersion by calculating the
range and standard deviation of each mutual fund, as they provide information about the variability
in the data. The range of yearly returns for FNCMX is 85 as compared to a range of only 45.33
for FFRHX. The high range for FNCMX can be attributed to the fluctuation of the stock market
where the highs and lows throughout the year have lasting impacts on the yearly returns. Typically,
standard deviation is a more credible measure of dispersion, as range only analyzes the minimum
and maximum values. The standard deviation for the FidelityВ® Floating Rate High Income Fund
yearly returns is

Themes in the Novel and Movie Adaptation of James Cain s Mildred Pierce
In contemporary film making, Hollywood ization generally refers to the re creation of a classic
work in a form more vulgar and sexually explicit than the original in an effort to boost movie
attendance. After all, sex and violence sell. However, from the mid 1930 s to the 1950 s,
Hollywood ization referred to the opposite case where controversial books had to be purified to
abide by the Production Code of 1934.[1] This occurred to many of James Cain s novels as they
moved from text to the genre of film noir. As has been said about Cain s The Postman Always
Rings Twice, The property, bought several years ago, was kept in the studio s archivesuntil now ...

A particularly strong theme that runs through the entire novel is the unusual power that women
play over the men in their lives. Rather than simply being passive to the impulses of men, Mildred
takes charge of her life and decides which men she will be with and leaves those that she no
longer has an affection for. Cain dives into more controversial territory by having Mildred use men
for her own sexual satisfaction. Cain also moves women into the role of successful breadwinners
during a time where men generally held financial power further blurring traditional roles of gender.
However, Mildred does not completely free herself of all familial responsibilities as she is still
held captive through her obsession with her daughter Veda. As with many housewives, her sense
of self identity is drawn from her role as a mother and she caters to the desires of her daughter to
the point that they are almost self destructive. It is Veda s extravagant tastes that drive her mother
to work hard and draws resources away from her business ultimately resulting in its collapse.
Moreover, Mildred must deal with the lack of gratitude and outright contempt that she receives
from her own daughter for working in a blue collar job.
Madden is right stating that the book provided an unpopularized version of life in the 1930 s.
However, it ultimately doesn t not go

A Wireless Sensor Network usually is formed by numerous wireless sensor devices. Routing is an
important mechanism which will help the data to get forwarded to the right destination. Internet
Protocol is an important protocol which helps in routing process. Generally the nodes in a
Wireless Sensor Network are integrated and routing using IP version 4 is difficult as the address
space is limited. IP version 4 uses 32 bit addressing mechanism which is not sufficient to complete
the routing process. The other option is the use of InternetProtocol version 6. IPv6is the latest
version of Internet protocol and it uses 128 bits addressing mechanism. The IETF working group

The new mechanism called as Anycast helps in finding the nearest or best destination as viewed by
the routing topology. Data is routed using the defined path. These mechanisms are used in
6LoWPAN.
4. SECURITY MESURES
It is essential to provide secure environment while routing data in Wireless Sensor Network. IP
version 6 provides necessary security. The length of the address is big and the header format is
completely changed. Further, IPSec is part of the protocol suite. A Quality of Service feature can
be implemented using the Flow Label field of the IPv6 header. This feature is used to provide
priority levels to the data packets. Stateless Address Auto Configuration is a feature that helps
version 6 addresses to get configured automatically when the hosts are connected to IP version 6
networks.
IP version 6 supports globally unique addresses with which the activity of every device can be
easily tracked. The elimination of NAT reduces complexity and every device using IP version 6 is
on the public network. The various transitioning techniques like Dual Stack, Tunneling and
Proxying helps in communication between both the versions of IP addresses without increasing
any kind of overhead. Considering all the mentioned factors, a proper framework needs to be
defined for secure data transmission.

Characters In Gary Faulsen s Hatchet By Gary Paulsen
Every novel has that brave, strong, character that never gives up. This type of character is
always looking out for others and being the best version of themselves that they can be. In the
novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen the main character Brian Robeson has to be all of the above. He
really can t let himself down because no one else will be there to help him survive in the wilderness.
Therefore, because Brian is the alone in the wilderness he becomes committed, resourceful, and
clever.
To begin, Brian is many different traits but the one I think he mostly is committed. An example of
this would be on page 51, where Gary Paulsen writes, He had to do something to help himself. I
have to get motivated, he thought, remembering Perpich. Right now i m all i ve got. I have to do
something. Brian is basically is being his own parents while he is surviving. This is showing
that Brian is so committed that he won t even think about letting himself give up or even think
about that fact. Another example of this would be on page 124 when Brian was talking about
his living situation, The basic idea had been good, the place for his shelter was right, but he
hadn t gone far enough. Food was first, but the work for the food went on and on. He had tried
to take a short cut and pay for it with his turtle eggs... Even though Brian does have a shelter to
live in he still doesn t think that is good enough for him, so he goes above and beyond to make his
shelter the best it can be for him to

Plato And Guardians
On the subject of the Guardians, education is one of high importance. The Guardians are meant to
be brought up in such a way that the City can depend on them to not only being highly intelligent
but also fierce fighters. Plato breaks down their education into two categories : gymnastics and
music. These two categories serve to enhance both the body and mind to the highest level.
However, it is important to note that Platoplanned to filter and censor the majority of what was
given to the Guardians in the mind category. This filter included removing any and all teachings of
Greek mythology, as well as only allowing the Guardians to study what was deemed beautiful and
just by Plato and his attendants. The claim made to support this was we can

Persuasive Essay On Climate Crisis
As advances in technology and medicine lead to longer lifespans and lowered mortality from
disease, some people worry about overpopulating the earth. These people also argue that aid work
will fuel the population growth and demolish one of the only forms of population control. Melinda
Gates explains that as people work to provide more education and contraceptives to women in third
world countries, the birth rate will naturally decrease, especially as they worry less about having a
child survive into adulthood (Rosen). Currently there is enough to sustain the population and its
growth in the years to come; presently the issue is not the number of people, but rather, the
distribution and effective use of resources.
The World Economic Forum s Global Shaper Survey shows that most millennials agree that climate
change is the most urgent issue and that they can do something to fix it (Jackson). Bill Gates has
mentioned the possibility of a new charity dedicated to solving the climate change issue because he
views it as the most imminent threat to the survival and advancement of humanity. An article on
The Guardian even mentions that The foundation s annual letter for 2015 says their achievements
could be undone by the advancing climate crisis. (Mathiesen). Gates has even theorized that, at the
current rate, we could be facing serious climatic consequences in as little as 15 or 20 years.
The nonprofit sector should direct efforts to income disparity and unemployment. According

Essay about Humor as a Form of Cultural Expression
Humor as a Form of Cultural Expression
How can one look at a culture and understand its origins, its values, its accomplishments and
failures? Through art, poetry, or other literary, or scientific advances? Maybe even in its political
standpoints? All of these methods are acceptable. There is one I did not mention in the above list
however. It can be considered trivial by some, but I think it is also important. Perhaps we can
understand a culture by its humor.
Even on the surface the jokes of a country generally reflect its habitat, attitude, and its people. In
the US for instance, most jokes you hear on late night television would probably be political ones,
bashing this political figure or the next. Why is this so? Perhaps ... Show more content on

those jokes. For example, the strive toward communism became a major topic. (There was never
any communism in the USSR per se, there was only socialism which was considered a mid point
between capitalism and communism. The goal of perfect communism was always the promised

The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
According to Dictionary.com a leader is a person who rules, guides or inspires others . Often a
leader is more than that. Leaders care about the group as a whole not just their individual part.
They see the big picture and help everyone else to see it too. They are the one the group looks up
to and depends on. If the leader is lost almost always a new unlikely leader is bound to emerge.
Leaders often do not know who they are until they are put in a position where they must lead for
the success of the group. Leaders play a huge role in the book The Hobbit. Jack Welch summarizes
the leader s role in this book perfectly. Bilbo before he is a leader, Bilbo when he is a leader and
Gandalf s actions all relate to the quote Before you are a leader, success is all about growing
yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others. Jack Welch Before
Bilbo is a leader his success is all about him. How he can better his own personal well being and
improve himself. Poor Bilbo couldn t bear it any longer. At may not return he began to feel a
shriek coming up inside and very soon it burst out like the whistle of an engine coming out of a
tunnel (pg.20). Bilbo did not think about the rest of the company when he was making this

soon as he could have. After hearing all this Bilbo ought to have done something at once. Either he

Pericles Funeral Oration Of Athenian Democracy
After reading Pericles funeral oration it is defiantly clear that he strongly believed that democracy
was the best possible form of government. Pericles saw Athens as superior to other city states based
on their implementation of democracy which ultimately represented freedom, liberty, courage,
honor and justice. In his funeral oration, Periclesrefers to the Athenian democracyas a system of
government where men are able to advance in society as a result of their merits rather than on
class or wealth. In the Athenian democracy class considerations are not allowed to interfere with
merit and therefore any man who showcased his ability to rule could do so, even if he wasn t part

Cultural Profile With Mexican And Asian Cultures
My cultural profile is black, or African American to pull in the ancestral heritage. Black culture has
given more than afros , cool dance moves, and music to the world. Unfortunately, the media and
mainstream continue to highlight this with generalizations and stereotypes. Black culture has
values, traditions, and unique communication styles that have developed the platform for other
cultures, such as Mexican and Asian culture, despite our differences. Understanding my cultural
profile has allowed me to proudly identify myself as a Black woman in America.
My cultural profile with Mexican and Asian cultures shares similarities. We have fought and still
are fighting for equality, respect, and political standpoints that support our culture beliefs.
According to Ali the black struggles of the 1960s slavery was abolished the Jim Crow system

identity for black across the America. Blacks from all over has joined together and peacefully

A Study Of Rauschenberg s Erased De Kooning Drawing
A Study of Rauschenberg s Erased de Kooning Drawing
In 1953, Robert Rauschenberg had the idea of adding drawing to his All White Series. However,
drawing on these paintings, or anywhere, would defeat the purpose of this series, and so he
came to the conclusion that the only way he could achieve this would be through erasure. He
began experimenting with his own drawings, but still being a young artist it he didn t think it
would be considered art. For his idea to work, he thought, it had to be art that he erased. Having
admiration and respect for artist Willem de Kooning, Rauschenberg decided to buy a bottle of
Jack Daniels, and go to his house. Rauschenberg explained to de Kooning his idea, and asked if
he could use a drawing of his. Reluctant, de Kooning agreed, only because he understood the idea.
After looking through his portfolios, de Kooning handed Rauschenberg a drawing that he would
miss, and that was almost impossible to erase. A month later, Rauschenberg successfully erased
de Kooning s drawing, and with the help of Jasper Johns, titled the piece in ink, and framed it.
Robert Rauschenberg s Erased de Kooning Drawing can be seen as either a minimalist piece or
conceptual piece. Through a clearer understanding of both movements, the aim of this essay is to
show how this piece could be seen as a minimal piece or a conceptual piece, and to see which
movement it leans more towards.
Minimalism has been described as the last of modernist styles and thus a

What Is The Theme Of The Guest By Albert Camus
The Guest by Albert Camus The Guest is a short story written by Albert Camus and first
published as a part of the collection Exile and the Kingdom in 1957. The main character of the
story is a teacher in a remote school Daru. The man was alone because of the snowfall, until
gendarme Balducci with the apprehended Arabic person appeared. Daru was asked to take
prisoner to a nearby town Tinguit where he would be tried for relative s murder. The teacher did
not want to take part in these events, but Balducci still left Arab in the school. Daru did not treat
the man like a prisoner. In the morning he took Arab outside, gave him money with food, explained
how to reach Tinguit or nomads and gave him an opportunity to choose his own fate. The teacher...

Daru informed the Arab about existed choices and did not try to show him that one of them
would be more honorable than the other .However, the teacher wished the man to stay away
from French officials. Daru with heavy heart made out the Arab walking slowly on the road to
prison (Camus 11). Words with heavy heart highlighted the man wanted Arab to choose the road
to nomads. The sentence could show that Daru was more on Algerian than the French side in
the conflict in spite of his pursuance of neutrality. Teacher s attitude was highlighted by the Arab
s behavior. Daru treated apprehended man as a guest, not a prisoner, but the man could deny his
hospitality or even kill the teacher as a roadblock on the way to freedom. However, the Arab did
not hurt Daru, accepted his food and beverages. This behavior can be treated as a sign of
political solidarity, the food symbolizing the exchange of life between them (Bernardo). Arab s
decision to go to the police headquarters in Tinguit, and the fact he did not try to hurt Daru,
showed the man was not really a bad person; and the murder he committed could be a result of
emotions or misunderstanding. These suggestions make readers to support Daru s decision to
give the Arab an opportunity to choose his fate by himself, and not make a man a subject of a
travesty of a trial (Bernardo). While the teacher did not want to have an impact on people s fate, his

Relations Between Vietnam And The United States
The situation that the Captain is faced with is multi faceted and complicated. The consequences of
his decision may have results of strategic importance to the relationship between not only China and
the United States, but between Vietnam and the U.S., as well as other peripheral nations that share
interests and territorial claims in the South China Sea. Additional aspects impacting the situation
include the history that is important to understanding China s thought process, humanitarian
concerns, the very real American military requirement to come to the aid of American citizens
under threat, and finally, the potential to become engaged in a kinetic engagement with a Chinese
warship. All weigh heavily upon any decision making process, and can be analyzed through a
combination of both consequentialism and deontological thought. Under those thought constructs,
the captain is justified in acting to save the lives of the Americans in question. Both the
consequences of a decision to act, as well as an analysis of the rightness or the duty of a decision to
act are in the captain s favor.
China has used historical claims to justify its territorial usurpations in the South China Sea. China s
territorial claims are causing conflict in the region as Beijing seeks to control more area of the

Comparison of Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce et Decorum A Comparison of Two Poems

Brigade by Alfred, Lord Tennyson and Dulce Et Decorum by Wilfred Owen. Wilfred Owen was
actually a fighter in the war, where as Alfred, Lord Tennyson only wrote the poem on what he
had heard and he had no experience of war. Although both poems are about war, they are a
complete contrast to each other, not only in the way they are written but also with the message
they deliver. Charge of the Light Brigade delivers a strong message. The theme of this poem is
war. The poem gives us the impression that war is glorious and noble. The poem... Show more

The assonance in this sentence sounds likes the horses trotting at a steady pace towards the
opposition. In stanza two we continue picturing them heading towards war but also picture
some drama and shouting. Forward, the light Brigade! Was there a man dismay d? Not tho the
soldier knew someone had blunder d . We also imagine them showing great courage, Their s but
to do and die: Into the valley of Death Rode the six hundred. In stanza three we picture them
staring death straight in the eye as they are directly in front of the opposition, Cannon to right of
them, Cannon to left of them, Cannon in front of them although they are in a terrifying situation
the writer still makes them sound noble and courageous Boldly they rode well, Into the jaws of
Death, Into the mouth of Hell Rode the six hundred. Stanza four tells us about the battle. There
is a great deal of onomatopoeia in stanza four which works well as it causes us to picture and
hear exactly what is happening. Words such as: Plunged , Reel d , Shatter d and sunder d are
used. In stanza five we are told about them leaving the battle Cannon to right of them, Cannon to
left of them, Cannon behind them at this point the writer helps us to feel thankful for what the
warriors did and persuades us to earn a great deal of respect for the fighters as he says: While horse

They are much cheaper than ethnography with a greater effectiveness, however, all of these
interviews or surveys were based on the retrospective data, respondents answered the questions
by their memory and the issue may happened for a long time. There could be a great influence on
the quality of data since the ability of respondent to recall information differed from one to
another and some incorrect information often occurred (Baker, 2003). The third approach
considered in this study is the real time experience tracking developed by MESH planning. This
is an approach to record 360 degree touchpoints of brand by respondents in real time. There are
three stages of data collection. The first stage uses the pre online questionnaire to collect
information about brand health and relationship quality. The third stage uses the same questions
to ask respondents perception after brand encounters in order to identify any change. While the
second stage for data collection is the most crucial process in the approach. Respondents are
asked to send SMS message to report any brand encounter via mobile phones. And the online
diary also helped to expand these experiences (Willis et al 2010). Meanwhile, for identifying the
CIs, weekly questionnaire will be sent to respondents about the CIs happened in the past week.

During the winter months, snow and ice is a common problem. Not only does it make the roads
slick and dangerous, it also coats your vehicle. While removing snow and ice might seem like an
easy task, it can become difficult. Removing snow and ice the wrong way can easily cause your
windshield to crack. So what should you avoid when de icing your windshield? Here are three
things: 1. Hot Water A lot of people think hot water is a good idea, especially when they are in a
hurry. While hot water certainly can melt ice, it isn t a good idea to pour it onto your windshield.
Cold glass is under a lot of stress and warming it up too quickly causes a thermal shock, which can
easily make it crack or shatter. If the weather is particularly cold, you should

Research Paper On Ecstasy
Leah Betts was an 18 year old student who died from the use of ecstasy. On her 18th birthday she
took an ecstasy tablet it was believed that she then consumed 7litres of water to contract the
effects of the drug. Ultimately Leah died from water intoxication she d consumed so much after
taking ecstasy that it stopped her brain from working properly and caused it to swell leading to
her death. Heart rate, breathing, body fluids and temperature are all regulated without using
having to think about it, the is known as homeostasis. When you take ecstasy (chemically
known as MDMA) homeostasis is pushed too far causing it to start to break down. Homeostasis
usually regulates body temperature to around 37 39 degrees celsius. In order to maintain these
temperatures we cool ourselves down through evaporation of sweat produced from sweat glands
in the skin. However there is a limit to how fast our body can cool down, when you take ecstasy
you body ignores the warning signals it is being sent. Leah however, was not dancing around or
exerting a lot of energy for her to sweat or become hot therefore, it was clear that she did not die
from overheating. Ecstasy also affects the water... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Vasopressin is one of the hormones released by the pituitary gland, it is an anti diuretic hormone
which regulates blood pressure and water retention. When sodium levels get too high, your
body feels dehydrated. Vasopressin is then released to allow for more water to pass through your
kidneys. On the other hand, when your sodium levels are too low, vasopressin is no longer
released and your kidneys absorb less water. When you use ecstasy, vasopressin is released
because you have taken the drug and not because your body is dehydrated. Therefore the ADH
hormone is produced in excess so your body retains more water than normal. This is because the
hypothalamus is sending signals to the kidneys to stop urine production as your body thinks that it is

Soil Invertebrate Diversity Lab Report
Effect of Woody Litter Mass on Soil Invertebrate Diversity
Discussion
Hannah Willis After performing our experiment we came to the conclusion that the amount of
woody litter mass did not have a statistically significant effect on the amount of soil invertebrate
diversity of an area. In each of the different areas, the P Values were above 0.05 meaning that there
was no significant correlation between woody litter mass and soil invertebrate diversity. There were
36 total invertebrates found between all the areas we measured with 8 different species. We also
found that species diversity between all the groups ended up being 1.27 which means the diversity
in the environments was very low. The evenness was 0.71 which is closer to 1, so the communities

It is important that more studies are done so that we can make correlations between the two in
order to ensure ecosystem survival. In every ecosystem, every component from a gene to a
species has a role to fill in an ecosystem. If it is not understood how above ground components
effect below ground diversity, we will not have the knowledge we need to better understand what
keeps an ecosystem thriving. Without this knowledge we would lack the tools we need to
understand how to keep biodiversity at high levels to ensure no extinction of a species or
community. With pollution, deforestation, and other harmful effects on the environment taking
over areas, it is necessary to the survival of life that we begin to make these correlations to
understand biodiversity and the harm that lack of above ground diversity can have on the base

Number Plate Extraction
III. NUMBER PLATE EXTRACTION
The captured input image has number plate covered by vehicle body, so by this step only
number plate area is detected and extracted from whole body of vehicle. The number plate
extraction phase influence the accuracy of ANPR system because all further step depend on the
accurate extraction of number plate area. The input to this stage is vehicle image and output is a
portion of image containing the exact number plate. Number plate can be distinguished by its
features. Instead of processing every pixel, the system processes only the pixels that have these
features. The features are derived from number plate format and the characters constituting the
plate. Number plate color, rectangular shape of number plate boundary, the color change between
the plate background and characters on it etc. can be used for detection and extraction of number
plate area. The extraction of Indian number plate is difficult as compared to the foreign number
plate because in India there is no standard followed for the aspect ratio of plate. This factor makes
the detection and extraction of number plate very difficult. The various methods used for number
plate extraction are as follows:
A. Number Plate Extraction using Boundary/Edge information
Normally the number plate has a rectangular shape with aspect ratio, so number plate can be
extracted by finding all possible rectangles from the input vehicle image. Various edge detection

Bloodstain Analysis Lab Report
Can the angle of a fatal blow be determined by the locations of the victim s bloodstains? I will be
comparing multiple bloodstains to one another and measuring them, trying to determine the
angle at which I struck the victim (a kitchen sponge). This practice, called bloodstain analysis, is
used by forensic investigators to determine the cause, position, and even time of death. I believe
that by using trigonometry, I will be able to establish the angles at which I hit each sponge. I
will repeat the experiment multiple times, and each blow will be delivered from a different
angle. Each spatter of blood will be measured in centimeters and millimeters; the angles will be
written in degrees. To begin my experiment, I will need to purchase a few items. A tarp is
necessary to cover the floors of my house so as to not stain the carpet. I will also have to
purchase latex gloves and goggles to prevent my hands from staining and from getting fake blood
in my eyes. Adhesive circles, sponges, and string will also need to be purchased, as well as the
following components for producing my fake blood: food coloring (red and green), cornstarch, corn
syrup, and something with which to measure out all ingredients. Finally, I must gather the
subsequent items from around my home: white letter sized copy paper, a hammer,... Show more

House Of The Red Fish Analysis
Do you find it hard to when looking for the similarities and differences of an object. Well you can
use the Double Bubble Map method to compare two subjects, there are three sides. The
similarities, and the different things about the subjects. In this case, the subjects were Tomi and
Keet, the main characters of House of The Red Fish . One of the many differences between
Tomi and Keet is that Tomi is determined to get his father s fishing sampan to the surface, but
Keet is adamant about keeping it at the bottom of the canal where it lays. The Double Bubble
Map is convenient because it keeps your notes organized, you can also virtually compare any two
things, and lastly it s a fun different way to taking dull notes. Firstly, this strategy is convenient
because of how organized it is. Even though there are a jumble of circles and words, the adjacent
lines connecting one circle to the next keep the space tidy and easy to find. In addition, when
comparing Tomi and Keet, there are many differences, but just as many similarities between the
two. Using the Double Bubble method, you can easily decipher the things they have in common,
and the things that contrast. For example, both characters share the trait of being stubborn, because
Tomi will not give up raising his father s sampan, the Taiyo Maru, but Keet on the other hand will
do anything to keep the sampan on the ocean floor.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Lord Of The Flies Femininity Analysis
Lord of the Flies is a novel written by the Nobel Prize winning author William Golding about a
group of schoolboy stuck on a deserted island, attempting to establish a well organized society but
fail. The story lacks a real female character. Hence, most critics pay no attention on this issue.
Nevertheless, the issue of femininityis implicitly presented in the story; malecharacters are rejecting
the femininity. For example, in the protagonist Ralph s memory, he never read one of the books
standing on his shelf because that is the book about two girls (Golding 112). Also, when the boys
hair grow longer due to the long stay on the island, they refuse to tie the hair back since it would be
like girls (Golding 172). The novel embodies the confrontation between masculinityand femininity.
In light of this, this paper argues that by considering Piggy the representative of femininity, Lord of
the Flies illustrates how the exclusive nature of masculinity repudiates femininity, which causes the
final disintegration of the society on the island.
Lord of the Flies depicts the disintegration of the order and the collapse of the harmony mainly
embedded in the conflict between Ralph and Jack, the two competing leaders in the novel. The
story is set in the middle of the raging war, when a plane evacuating a group of schoolboys from
Britain is shot down on a deserted island. Two of the boys, Ralph and Piggy, discover a conch and
make use of it to assemble other boys. Piggy, who is the

Western Culture And Suicide Essay
Eastern and Western Ideologies Surrounding Suicide and Their Origins
In order to understand the eastern and western beliefs about suicide, we must first review and
consider the influences of these beliefs, such as religion and history, as well as the effects of
acculturation. The Eastern and Western cultures have very distinct views on deathand suicide. The
two cultures I will be specifically focusing on is Japan and the United States.
In Japan, there is a strong presence of Buddhism and Shintoism. In Buddhism, death is not the end.
Originally written by Padma Sambhava, and translated by Robert Thurman, the Tibetan Book of the
Dead (1994) states death is merely a door towards enlightenment, and human life is a bridge to
nirvana. Shintoism teaches that a human s soul is everlasting; transitioning into another realm after
the body dies. To those born into the eastern culture, these views on the afterlife are not theories. It
is science. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Christian devotees do not believe in reincarnation. After the spirit departs, the body reverts to dust,
and the soul returns to God (Ecclesiastes 12:7, King James Version). There is no need for
immortality since there is a heaven. Apart from religion, the western view of death is that of
rejection. Americans use euphemisms, like passed away and transitioned in order to cope with the
misfortune. Instead of cherishing individuals while they are alive, Americans take them for
granted, and when the person departs their deaths are described as premature, sudden, and too
soon . A prime example of this is American actor Paul Walker, who died in a horrific car accident
in 2013. The reason for this is because the westernized culture does not think about death. In the
east, it is considered a bright and natural cycle; death is treated with anxiety and uncertainty in the

The Rise Of Christianity And Christianity
Christianity began its succession into the most dominant worldwide religion after Jesus crucifixion
and resurrection. We heard Him say, I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three
days build another made without hands. Upon Jesus death and resurrection, he completed this task
setting forth the development of Christianity. Since Jesusleft no formal authoritative power,
organization, or agreed upon scriptures, a wide variety of sects gained popularity in the
development of Christianity. Most of these sects were later deemed as heretic, one of the most
notable being Gnosticism. Gnosticism was a dualist religion believing the material world evil and
the invisible spirit realm good. This belief obligated Gnosticism to follow Docetic interpretations.
Docetism is the belief that Jesus was never truly man but rather a divine from the spirit world. All
forms of Christianity, however, believe Jesus is son of God sent as humanity s savior from
damnation. Docetism, along with other aspects of Gnosticism, drove other Christians condemn
Gnosticism as heresy. Gnosticism, however, is more comparable to Canonical Christians than
realized. Specifically, the distinction between Docetism and strict Canonical belief is not only
insignificant but also justifiable due to Canonical contradictions surrounding Jesus existence.
Canonical Christians belief on Jesus time on earth is exhibited clearly by The Gospel of John, The

Ontological Argument
Ontological Argument
One of the most fascinating arguments for the existence of an all perfect God is the ontological
argument. Ontological arguments are arguments to prove the existence of God based on pure
reason alone. They attempt to show that we can deduce God s existence from, so to speak, the very
definition of God. St. Anselm of Canterbury proposed the first and most well known ontological
argument in 1078 in his Proslogion, but it was actually Immanuel Kant, an 18th century German
philosopher, who first called the argument ontological.
In his argument, Anselm defines God as that than which nothing greater can be conceived. This can
be interpreted as defining God as maximal perfection, or the greatest possible being. It ... Show

He thought the ontological argument was flawed. Any argument for the existenceof God based on
the proposition that a God that exists in reality is greater than a God that exists in the
imagination is based on a confusion. According to Kant, the confusion lies in the fact that
existence is not a predicate. A predicate is a property that a thing can either possess or lack.
When people say that God exists, they are not saying that there is a God and He possesses the
property of existence. If they did, they would be saying that there is a God, but he lacks the
property of existence, confirming and denying God s existence at the same time. Kant suggests
that to say that something exists is to say that the concept of that thing is demonstrated in the
world. Existence is then not a matter of a thing possessing a property (existence) but of a concept
corresponding to something in the world. For example, if we are given a complete description of
an object and then it is added to the description that the object exists, in saying that it exists adds
nothing to the idea of the object. The object is the same whether it exists or not.
If Kant is correct in his view that existence is not a property of objects, then it is impossible to
compare a God that exists to a God that does not. In Kant s eyes, a God that exists and a God that
does not are identical. A God that exists is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, etc. A God that
does not exist is

Music Piracy s Impact On The Industry
Music Piracy s Impact on the Industry
The digital age has brought innumerable benefits to society throughout the past decade. Many new
markets have been created, and routes for innovation have opened, but not all industries have
flourished as a result of this era. Music piracy, which is the illegal act of obtaining or distributing
sound recordings without the owner s permission, is theorized to be the ultimate downfall of the
music industry. CD sales have plummeted and caused the music moguls to panic, but their
worriedness might be narrow sighted. Through speculative research, it can be surmised that the act
of piracy can positively influence a musician s career, allow for new opportunities and niches in
the market, and have little side effects to anyone else in the business. Pirating music, regardless of
reason, is illegal in the United States and holds great penalties. The Recording Industry Association
of America (RIAA) is the entity in charge of enforcing copyright violations. According to their
website, Criminal charges may leave you with a felony record, accompanied by up to five years
of jail time and fines up to $250,000 (RIAA). With charges at that rate, the public would be
expected to pay the $0.99 fee for a song on iTunes rather than face the repercussions, but the rate
only increased. The problem lies in the actual enforcement of the laws. Mass CD distribution can
be sourced back to a seller and exploited in that manner, but the average person in this

An Explanation Of The Postal Rule
(1)
The purpose of this essay is to provide an explanation of the postal rule while dealing with
acceptance of an offer, as well as evaluating how effective the postal rule is today. The main body
of this essay will look at what the postal rule while dealing with acceptance of an offer is, as well
as the circumstances surrounding the creation of the postal rule. There will also be an evaluation of
the effectiveness of the postal rule today. This will be summarised with a conclusion.
In most circumstances, the acceptance speaks only once it is received by the offeror. However, as
seen in the case of Adams v Lindsell in 1818, before the rule regarding the communication of
acceptance existed, the postal rule creates a problem as to when the acceptance becomes binding.
In this particular case the Court of King s Bench concluded the contract was formed when the letter
of acceptance was posted on September 5th (Furmston, 2012, p.70).
The decision in Adams v Lindsell did not instantly command uncritical acceptance. In 1880, in
Byrne v Van Tienhoven, Lindley J said It may be taken as now settled that, where an offer is made
and accepted by letters sent through the post, the contract is completed the moment the letter
accepting the offer is posted, even though it never reaches its destination. (Furmston, 2012, p.70).
The postal rule presents a number of questions within the law; such as can acceptance be recalled
before it reaches the offeror? In England, this question has no

Stylistic Prose Techniques In Cry, The Beloved Country By...
Stylistic prose technique 1: IMAGERY Authors who use imagery wish to give the readers a
physical feeling of literature while reading any sort of piece. It allows for the audience to connect
to the characters on a deeper level by having them experience the same feelings, smells, noises, etc,
as did the roles in the novel. Alan Patonuses a strong voice packed with imagery in his passage,
For they grow red and bare; they cannot hold the rain and mist, and the streams are dry in the
kloofs. Too many cattle feed upon the grass, and too many fires have burned it. Stand shod upon
it, for it is coarse and sharp, and the stones cut under the feet. It is not kept or guarded, or cared
for, it no longer keeps men, guards men, cares for men (Paton, 34). The overwhelming senses of
touch and vision are more than prevalent in this brief passage, with Paton perfectly conveying the
atmosphere of rural South Africa in the 1940 s. The reader gets a catholic impression of the arid
climate as well as the deteriorated lands on which it rests. By including this in his novel, Alan Paton
establishes a thorough setting, one of which the reader can fully understand for the remaining
duration of Cry, The Beloved Country.
Stylistic prose technique 2: DRAMATIC IRONYIn short, dramatic irony is in any given literary
scenario when future actions can be accurately anticipated by the readers but not the characters. It
often includes cliches and is used by authors wishing to give their audience insight that their
characters do not yet have. Powerful dramatic irony is demonstrated in the scene: Shall I get your
ticket for you, umfundisi? Then you need not lose your place in the line while I go to the ticket
office... As though he has suddenly though of something he left the line, and walked to the corner,
but there was no sign of the young man... Where is the ticket office my friend? You get your ticket
on the bus. There is no ticket office (Paton, 49). Alan Paton is able to show how vulnerable and
naГЇve Stephen Kumalo is to the big city; using something so predictable as a sly, nevertheless,
predictable con artist, he shows how foreign lies and deceit are to the pastor.
Stylistic prose technique 3: LOGOS Logos is a stylistic prose

1984 And Fahrenheit 451
In the texts, 1984, by George Orwell, and Fahrenheit 451, by Ray Bradbury, the concepts of
totalitarianism and censorship are addressed in various ways. Both texts are of dystopian fiction, set
in post nuclear war nations, although they are somewhat of a different nature. The concepts of
totalitarianism and censorship are explored throughout the texts by addressing the issue of
knowledge is power , the use and abuse of technology and the desensitising of society. Although
these are mentioned in both 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, they are different in the way they are
approached by each totalitarian government, as the government in 1984 is much more severe in the
way each of these issues are dealt with in the text.
Orwell and Bradbury address ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both authors emphasise the message that knowledge is power in order to warn modern society of
the damage that can be done by embracing totalitarianism regimes. Orwell is much stronger in
portraying it, which is displayed through the party slogan who controls the past controls the future,
who controls the present controls the past . Bradbury acknowledges this by removing literature,
although people are still free to think. Orwell takes it further by making readers question, what
knowledge can be trusted? If all thought is removed, eventually, nobody will be able to have power
because if the knowledge is unknown to be true, it cannot be used to form a common argument
against the government.
In 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, the governments utilise technology to abuse the citizens rights to
privacy as well as advertise political propaganda. In both texts, television plays an integral part
of the use of technology. In Bradbury s text, a 24/7 TV program includes the audience in order to
provide the impression they are an important part of society, whereas in Orwell s text, the
telescreens are not only used for propaganda, but also to constantly monitor Oceania s citizens.
This is evident when Winston kept his back turned to the telescreen. It was safer, though, as he
well knew, even a back can be revealing. In Fahrenheit 451, the TV program

The Moral Obligation Of Affluent Individuals
The question on whether affluent individuals have a moral obligation to assist the poor is a
widely controversial subject, and this was even apparent in our very own ethical reasoning class.
So the question still stands, is it our duty to assist the poor? The answer is much simpler than
people make it out to be. Yes.
While this answer is widely based of off my own opinion as well as those of Peter Singer, I am
prepared to defend my answer not only with the Singers evidence but also with my own thoughts
and motives. But I don t believe that only the rich should feel the moral obligation to assist the
poor, I believe everyone should do whatever we can to help one another. I do not believe that
people should be forced into helping one another by laws and government authorities, but instead
that it is the simply the right thing to do. First off I am going to explain the details of Singers
argument for the moral obligation of affluent individuals to assist the poor. Singer basis his
argument off utilitarian grounds, so generally promoting whatever promotes the most happiness for
the most people. Here are Singers three main premises. First, if we have the power to prevent
something bad from happening without having to sacrifice too much then morally we should do it.
Second, poverty is the number one source of human misery. And third, those who are well off have
a moral obligation to help reduce poverty, but they do not necessarily have to sacrifice everything
or anything of too

rabbits that were going crazy, bouncing off the walls of the two story metal cage. My eyes
instantly fell on the two bunnies that were a honey brown color. The other bunnies were white with
black spots all over but the brown ones took my interest. I had a perfect fantasy planned out, the
golden brown rabbitwith floppy ears will be mine and I ll name her Bunbun. This was in my mind
the vision of a perfect little bunny. After relentless bagging and a few tears, my parents agreed to
let me have a bunny. To this day, I still remember how excited I was. My mom and I entered the
pet store and I immediately ran to the back towards the cage. There was a single brown bunny
left. My mom went up to the clerk and asked to put a hold on the last brown bunny. We had to
get all the supplies and a cage before we could just bring her home. After buying everything that
was necessary and more, we returned to the pet store. I remember clearly how much the bunny
cost, only $35 dollars. The clerk walked to the cage with a cardboard carrier. As he opened the
cage, the little brown rabbit ran up to the second floor and stood up tall. I grinned widely walking
out of that pet store carrying the carrier. I could feel

Diversity In Colonial America Essay
History, it is the building block of the future. We as Americans have had a history like none other.
Diversity has always been a part of our history. In the past it has laid the base for flourishing
cultures and a feeling of belonging. In the present it has brought diversity through political parties,
opportunity for minorities, but also shortcomings and views of division. But if diversity can
continue to flourish, and if we can learn to compromise, our future will be abundant with progress
and peace.
The diversity of America s past has laid the foundation for the flourishing culture we have today.
Even in colonial America, we were one of the most diverse places in the world. The first federal
census in 1790 recorded that one fifth of the entire population was African American. Those that
composed the white populations had ancestries of three fifths were English, one fifth Scottish or
Irish, and rest was of Dutch, French, German, Swedish, or other backgrounds. With such a varied
foundation, it s no surprise that those who came here felt a feeling of belonging in the new land.
The belonging and acceptance did not stop at ethnicity but extended to religion as well. In fact, in
colonial America, there were religious groups such as the Pilgrims, Separatists, Anglicans,
Catholics, Puritans, Quakers, Lutherans, Jews, Baptists, and others. With so many ... Show more

With a diverse political structure more people have the opportunity to have their voices heard.
They can gather like minded individuals to make their message stronger. But messages can
conflict, and some messages are still considered unimportant although they are still very real.
Some people see differences as division, but as John F. Kennedy once said, If we cannot now end
our differences, at least we can help make the world safe for diversity . Diversity doesn t mean
erasing differences, it s acknowledging them and find the common

Light Color Lab
Light, Color, and Solutions Lab In this experiment, the relationships between wavelength,
absorbance, concentration, and cell path are explored through separate, smaller experiments. These
relationships can be combined to derive a single equation known as Beer s Law. This equation is
then used to identify an unknown solution s formula weight. A traditional artist s colorwheel, using
pigments, consists of the colors of the rainbow. A color wheel using light, which is known as a
chemist s color wheel, also consists of the rainbow colors. The main difference between these
two color wheels can be seen when colors are mixed together. In the case of mixing light, when
all of the colors are added together, the result is white.1 When mixing pigments, however, the
result of all colors combined is black.1 Mixing colors of light together results in a lighter color;
for example, mixing red and green results in yellow, a lighter color.2 The combination of several
paint colors results in a darker color due to less colors of light being reflected.2 Essentially, the
mixing of the colors of light uses the additive color system while mixing pigment colors using the...

Louisianan Purchase Disadvantages
The United States bought out Louisiana from France 190 years ago. Beginning on April 30,
1803, one of the greatest estate deals in history took place. Jefferson seemed to be very familiar
with the French, according to his past, due to the time he spent in Europe as an American envoy.
He also understood the danger which potential military posed. A French regime also posed as a
neighbor that took control of the gorgeous land .One that would double the size of the country and
put the United Statesin a position to become a world power. However he Louisiana territorial
purchase was not as easy of a business process as one might think. It seemed to be very rushed,
stressful process that caused President Thomas Jeffersona huge amount of mental and emotional
issues, although at the end it was worth the stress because the purchase did include many
advantages.
First off, one advantage Jefferson received by the purchase of the territory was the U.S gained
control over New Orleans and Mississippi river. In an article written by Lydia Pick ham she states
in the days before canals and railroads, rivers were the only way to ship goods from one point to
the other, further, the port city of New Orleans, was vital to the further development of the
American economy. By Jefferson purchasing the land he put an end to this. After all, the purchase
created an evolution of trade along the coast of the river. According to Erin Z. Inside of the article

The Pros And Cons Of Onboarding
I am a manager. So managers have specific responsibilities when it comes to the socialization of
people hiring. The process of introducing a new employee to company culture and other
employees is often referred to as onboarding. And there are indeed ethical implications involved in
the socialization process. Management is tasked with introducing a company s mission, culture,
rules and procedures to new employees. Ethics play a role in the way management chooses to do
this. The process of onboarding new hires requires management to impart the organization s
purpose, mission and goals. Onboarding also requires management to provide new a hires with a
complete description of their job and inform them of their responsibilities, beyond what was... Show

An ascribed status, on the other hand, is one that beyond an individual s control. It is not earned,
but rather something people are either born with or had no control over. Examples of ascribed
status include sex and race. Children usually have more ascribed statuses than adults since they do
not usually have a choice in most matters. A family social statusor socioeconomic status, for
instance, would be an achieved status for adults, but an ascribed status for children.
Homelessness might also be another example. For adults, homelessness usually comes by way
of achieving, or rather not achieving, something. For children, however, homelessness is not
something they have any control over. They become as such by default of their parents actions.
Role conflict is a tension that occurs when a person is facing multiple roles having multiple
statuses. It means that it occurs between two or more than two roles. I have experienced role
conflict. One day I visit my mother in hospital, I also wish to go a marriage ceremony of my close
friend, same time I have to go for school for my daughter parent meeting and also I have to go for

How Did Benito Mussolini Rise To Power
Born on July 29, 1883, in Dovia di Predappio, Forlì, Italy, Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini
was the eldest of three children. His father, Alessandro, was a blacksmith and a socialist who
spent most of his time on politics and his money on his mistress. Mussolini s mother, Rosa, was a
Catholic schoolteacher who provided their family with stability and income. While he was
younger, Benito Mussolini showed intelligence, but was disobedient. His father instilled in him a
passion for socialist politics and defiance against authority. Although he was expelled from several
schools for bullying and defying school authorities, he eventually obtained a teaching certificate in
1901 and, for a short time, worked as a schoolmaster. Mussolini traveled to... Show more content on

Mussolini s leadership demonstrated use of clever methods of gaining support. Others could

enough to control the government. The Socialists was open to more. This didn t sit well with
Mussolini, so he gathered his followers, dressed in black shirts, and threatened to march on Rome
if he wasn t given control of the government. At first, the government ignored him, and then he
marched through Rome with his people and forced the King to name him the leader of the
government. The Fascist movement he started could have easily been prevented if the
government had intervened early. They failed to utilize their forces that were all at their disposal.
However, Mussolini took this to his advantage and seized control of Italy. It was a perfect storm;
Italy was going through tough times economically, socially and politically and Mussolini seemed

The Trade Organization And International Dispute Settlement
I.INTRODUCTION The World Trade Organization ( WTO ) Dispute Settlement System and the
International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes ( ICSID ) are two of the most
widely used methods of international dispute settlement. An important reason for this popularity is
that States have consented in advance to compulsory dispute settlement by the WTO and also, but
to a lesser extent, by ICSID arbitration. In the case of the WTO it is the WTO Dispute Settlement
Understanding that confers compulsory jurisdiction on the WTO Dispute Settlement System; while
in the case of ICSID a large number of States have consented in advance to ICSID jurisdiction over
their disputes with investors by means of express provisions in Bilateral Investment Treaties.
Moreover, an important additional reason for the widespread use of ICSID as a forum for
international dispute settlement is that investors who are in effect the substantive rights holders
under Bilateral Investment Treaties are often given the right to institute ICSID arbitration directly
against the host State. But the WTO, unlike ICSID, is much more than just a dispute settlement
system: the WTO possesses an important institutional element that has the capacity to formulate
and apply systemic values, and it is this feature which represents a fundamental difference between
the WTO Dispute Settlement System and ICSID arbitration. II.INVESTMENT UNDER THE WTO
REGIME Though there is no comprehensive multilateral

Biofilm Formation and Colonization are of Prime Importance...
An ideal restorative material should have a property of adhesion to tooth structure and an ability
to withstand the occlusal forces. However, some therapeutic and caries preventing efficacy might
be desirable. Glass ionomer cement has been shown to produce some degree of antibacterial effect
due to release of fluoride [3]. Several studies have been done to increase the antimicrobial effect of
GIC without compromising the physical properties of the restoration. Takahashi Y [4] in 2006 and
Tuzuner T [1] in 2011 advocated that the incorporation of chlorhexidine into GICs has resulted in
an excellent antibacterial effect in vitro. Frencken JE [5,6] observed that microorganisms counts in

Biofilm formation and colonization are of prime importance in initiation and progression of dental
caries. Igarashi K et al. [12] concluded in their study that an undisturbed plaque up to 2 days is
more acidic as compared to immature plaque. Therefore, in the present study antimicrobial
efficacy of modified glass ionomer cement was evaluated by estimating the bacterial load on 2
days old dental biofilm. The results revealed statistically significant difference in bacterial load
among the three groups, i.e. CFUs were lowest in chitosan modified GIC followed by
chlorhexidine cetrimide modified GIC and maximum CFUs were observed in conventional GIC.
The findings of present study suggested that antimicrobial effect of GIC is enhanced after addition
of CH and CHX CT in GIC. However, chitosan modified GIC showed a significantly lower
bacterial load when compared with chlorhexidine cetrimide modified GIC. The observations
depicted that degree of bacterial attachment or plaque accumulation was less on chitosan modified
GIC than on chlorhexidine cetrimide modified GIC. Tarsi et al. [13] suggested that the mechanism
of anti adherence activity of chitosan involved bacterial surface modifications, alterations in
expression of bacterial surface ligands, and chitosan adsorption to host surfaces to change in

After WW2 Japan was in an economic crisis which continued until 1949 when the company
obtained a loan from several banks. In June 1950 the company only produced 300 trucks and
management announced layoffs and wage reductions and in response, the union went on strike
which last for two months. While the strike did eventually end and layoffs and wage reductions
did occur the union stipulated that the president Kiichiro Toyoda must resign. Kiichiro Toyoda
resigned from his company and the company then came under the leadership of Taizo Ishida
CEO of Toyoda Automatic Loom. In 1950 a separate sales company Toyota Motor Sales Co was
established (lasted until 1982). In 1956 the Toyota dealership chain was established. In 1957 the
Crown motor vehicle became the first Japanese car to be exported to America thus establishing
Toyota s American division. In 1960s Toyota began to expand with a new research and
development facility in Thailand. The first Toyota motor vehicle built outside Japan was in April
1963 in Melbourne. From 1963 1965 Australia was Toyota s biggest export market. (http:/

Holistic Design
Thesis: Design is the root of action; if we can creatively construct our products and systems with
purpose and understanding of the processes and side effects of these systems, we can improve our
relationship to the natural world.
Introduction to Industrial Design
Our modern lives are full of manufactured products. Nearly everything that surrounds us in our day
to day lives is born of intense industrial processes, yet rarely do we think of the systems that
support our lifestyles. Finding a single action in a day that does not somehow depend on fossil fuels
is nearly impossible. Everything we use, eat, or come in contact with has either been shipped or
manufactured (or both) far away from where we live, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Never before has the sustenance of a culture imposed detrimental effects on such a worldwide
scale as our own (Chiras, 2001). Our daily negligence and blind support of industrial systems of
design is destroying the natural world that supports us.
There are several problems with industrial design and processes. Primarily, industrial design is not
case specific. It cares not for bioregional differences, but tends to value strength. Take for example
clothing detergents. Water in different areas has differing degrees of mineral concentrations. Water
with lower concentrations of minerals, as may be found in the northwestern United States, requires
less detergent than water in the Southwest to clean clothing. However, detergent has a universal
dosage and strength despite these regional differences (McDonough 2002, p. 29). Excess detergent
can contaminate waterways and alter aquatic ecosystems. Another example is lawn fertilization.
Many people over fertilize their lawns in order to improve the color, which can harm aquatic life
when runoff occurs. Many of these people also throw away their clippings after mowing, effectively
removing nutrients from their lawns. Now the fertilization is required again. These homeowners are
now increasing their dependence on industrial systems while hurting natural systems, instead of
utilizing natural systems, which would decrease their need for industrial

Network Security Is Becoming A Big Issue For Many Companies
With technology evolving as rapidly as it is, network security is becoming a big issue for many
companies. Publicly sharing information on cloud networks and other platforms are making for
convenient but very vulnerable systems. So the leading tech companies really need to devote
more resources into their security teams and fight back against the hacking attacks. The Lizard
Squad and any other hacking group are constantly learning new ways to hack into a company s
security system; companies like Sony and Microsoft need to staff their security team with people

Fall Prevention In The Elderly Essay
Quality Improvement for Fall Prevention in the Elderly
The occurrence of falls among the elderly is related to multiple factors, such as inherent and
external issues. Studies have proven that when appropriate intervention is put in place, falls are
preventable. A quality improvement according to Polit Beck (2012) is created to examine the
willingness of individuals to understand these studies and put them into practice or to appraise the
results of interventions already in place. This paper will examine a practice issue facilitated by the
advanced practice nurse (APN), explore the theoretical underpinning of change, describe an
improvement tool and model for improvement and allocated resources towards the prevention of
fall among the elderly.
Selected Practice Issue
The occurrence of falls in older adults are common and can result in serious injuries, even death.
Owing to multifaceted changes in the aging, falls and related injuries are rampant in the healthcare
settings. Moreover, the decline in the involvement and inspirational level of older adults in fall

Survival was all the scenes were scripted that s why the Expedition Survival team went to

The Pro s and Con s of Student Preaching
Introduction
The Pro s and Con s of a student preacher can be very nerve wrecking because of the
responsibility of following through with every I dotted and every T crossed. When writing,
preaching and teaching the Word of God it can become very intimidating to anyone who desires
to follow in a league of skillful preachers, pastors and teachers. How can you be original when it
appears all of the apparent techniques have been discovered? Speaking of technique, how should a
student preacher apply everything they ever learned from a Bible seminary? These are questions
for many students of the Bible. How do I represent God and still reach the lost souls of our
generation and at the same time feed the Believers of Christ so they won t starve ... Show more

Through this survey they found the small church pastor was not as influence by books because their
concern was more focused on discipleship. Whereas the pastor of a larger church was more apt to
read more books to get incite on how to continue to grow his church and meet the needs of the
people. Also the survey revealed the different types of influence came from authors, their fellow
colleagues and other theology influences. Also, they discovered pastors of a Pentecostal
churches were more conservative in their approaches and would not use the influence of outside
sources. The Word of God talks about the mature saint and the survey also discovered that the
age of a pastor will have influence of what is preached based on experience. Either way modern
day preaching has many factors of how a sermon is structured and shared among congregations
at every main service. When you consider how today s modern preacher or teacher compares to
the original believers of Christ there is a shortage in comparison. There could be one factor
missing and it s just purely believing in the power of God s word being enough for the people to
feed on and live on until eternity. His word never changes it is the bread of life that will feed any
intellectual of our time.

  • 3. Composite Index Fund And The FidelityпїЅпїЅ Floating Rate High... Historically, people invest their money in mutual funds as a means to generate extra income. This can be separated into either stocks or bonds, with each having their specialty in a portfolio. The following report provides an analysis of two funds, the FidelityВ® NasdaqВ® Composite Index Fund (FNCMX) and the FidelityВ® Floating Rate High Income Fund (FFRHX). The analysis of the yearly returns of each fund from 2005 2014 will include the risk and return for investing in each with key statistics such as mean, median, standard deviation, and range for indicators of their performance. These statistics will be paired with visuals so the client can have a visual representation of what they look like. The analysis will also compare the performance... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the median of FLPSX, half of the ten years had yearly return earnings higher than 10.2650 and half lower than 10.2650, while FFRHX had a smaller median of 4.0750. Both funds also do not have modes, another measurement of central location. The measurements in the table mean that FNCMX would have a higher investment return per year than the FFRHX as it more than doubles the return for both the mean and the median (10.97 mean return 4.7150 mean return and 10.265 median 4.0750). Both mutual funds had positively skewed distributions because the means were greater than the medians. Investment Risk For a client to fully comprehend an investment option, it is crucial to know the investment risk associated with it. This is done through measures of dispersion by calculating the range and standard deviation of each mutual fund, as they provide information about the variability in the data. The range of yearly returns for FNCMX is 85 as compared to a range of only 45.33 for FFRHX. The high range for FNCMX can be attributed to the fluctuation of the stock market where the highs and lows throughout the year have lasting impacts on the yearly returns. Typically, standard deviation is a more credible measure of dispersion, as range only analyzes the minimum and maximum values. The standard deviation for the FidelityВ® Floating Rate High Income Fund yearly returns is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Themes in the Novel and Movie Adaptation of James Cain s Mildred Pierce In contemporary film making, Hollywood ization generally refers to the re creation of a classic work in a form more vulgar and sexually explicit than the original in an effort to boost movie attendance. After all, sex and violence sell. However, from the mid 1930 s to the 1950 s, Hollywood ization referred to the opposite case where controversial books had to be purified to abide by the Production Code of 1934.[1] This occurred to many of James Cain s novels as they moved from text to the genre of film noir. As has been said about Cain s The Postman Always Rings Twice, The property, bought several years ago, was kept in the studio s archivesuntil now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A particularly strong theme that runs through the entire novel is the unusual power that women play over the men in their lives. Rather than simply being passive to the impulses of men, Mildred takes charge of her life and decides which men she will be with and leaves those that she no longer has an affection for. Cain dives into more controversial territory by having Mildred use men for her own sexual satisfaction. Cain also moves women into the role of successful breadwinners during a time where men generally held financial power further blurring traditional roles of gender. However, Mildred does not completely free herself of all familial responsibilities as she is still held captive through her obsession with her daughter Veda. As with many housewives, her sense of self identity is drawn from her role as a mother and she caters to the desires of her daughter to the point that they are almost self destructive. It is Veda s extravagant tastes that drive her mother to work hard and draws resources away from her business ultimately resulting in its collapse. Moreover, Mildred must deal with the lack of gratitude and outright contempt that she receives from her own daughter for working in a blue collar job. Madden is right stating that the book provided an unpopularized version of life in the 1930 s. However, it ultimately doesn t not go ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Routing is an important mechanism which will help the data to get forwarded to the right destination. Internet Protocol is an important protocol which helps in routing process. Generally the nodes in a Wireless Sensor Network are integrated and routing using IP version 4 is difficult as the address space is limited. IP version 4 uses 32 bit addressing mechanism which is not sufficient to complete the routing process. The other option is the use of InternetProtocol version 6. IP version 6 provides necessary security. The length of the address is big and the header format is completely changed. Further, IPSec is part of the protocol suite. A Quality of Service feature can be implemented using the Flow Label field of the IPv6 header. This feature is used to provide priority levels to the data packets. Stateless Address Auto Configuration is a feature that helps version 6 addresses to get configured automatically when the hosts are connected to IP version 6 networks. IP version 6 supports globally unique addresses with which the activity of every device can be easily tracked. The elimination of NAT reduces complexity and every device using IP version 6 is on the public network. The various transitioning techniques like Dual Stack, Tunneling and Proxying helps in communication between both the versions of IP addresses without increasing any kind of overhead. Considering all the mentioned factors, a proper framework needs to be defined for secure data transmission. The prime security goals ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Characters In Gary Faulsen s Hatchet By Gary Paulsen Every novel has that brave, strong, character that never gives up. This type of character is always looking out for others and being the best version of themselves that they can be. In the novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen the main character Brian Robeson has to be all of the above. He really can t let himself down because no one else will be there to help him survive in the wilderness. Therefore, because Brian is the alone in the wilderness he becomes committed, resourceful, and clever. To begin, Brian is many different traits but the one I think he mostly is committed. An example of this would be on page 51, where Gary Paulsen writes, He had to do something to help himself. I have to get motivated, he thought, remembering Perpich. Right now i m all i ve got. I have to do something. Brian is basically is being his own parents while he is surviving. This is showing that Brian is so committed that he won t even think about letting himself give up or even think about that fact. Another example of this would be on page 124 when Brian was talking about his living situation, The basic idea had been good, the place for his shelter was right, but he hadn t gone far enough. Food was first, but the work for the food went on and on. He had tried to take a short cut and pay for it with his turtle eggs... Even though Brian does have a shelter to live in he still doesn t think that is good enough for him, so he goes above and beyond to make his shelter the best it can be for him to ... The Guardians are meant to be brought up in such a way that the City can depend on them to not only being highly intelligent but also fierce fighters. Plato breaks down their education into two categories : gymnastics and music. These two categories serve to enhance both the body and mind to the highest level. However, it is important to note that Platoplanned to filter and censor the majority of what was given to the Guardians in the mind category. This filter included removing any and all teachings of Greek mythology, as well as only allowing the Guardians to study what was deemed beautiful and just by Plato and his attendants. • 8. Persuasive Essay On Climate Crisis As advances in technology and medicine lead to longer lifespans and lowered mortality from disease, some people worry about overpopulating the earth. These people also argue that aid work will fuel the population growth and demolish one of the only forms of population control. Melinda Gates explains that as people work to provide more education and contraceptives to women in third world countries, the birth rate will naturally decrease, especially as they worry less about having a child survive into adulthood (Rosen). Currently there is enough to sustain the population and its growth in the years to come; presently the issue is not the number of people, but rather, the distribution and effective use of resources. The World Economic Forum s Global Shaper Survey shows that most millennials agree that climate change is the most urgent issue and that they can do something to fix it (Jackson). Bill Gates has mentioned the possibility of a new charity dedicated to solving the climate change issue because he views it as the most imminent threat to the survival and advancement of humanity. An article on The Guardian even mentions that The foundation s annual letter for 2015 says their achievements could be undone by the advancing climate crisis. (Mathiesen). Gates has even theorized that, at the current rate, we could be facing serious climatic consequences in as little as 15 or 20 years. • 9. Essay about Humor as a Form of Cultural Expression Humor as a Form of Cultural Expression How can one look at a culture and understand its origins, its values, its accomplishments and failures? Through art, poetry, or other literary, or scientific advances? Maybe even in its political standpoints? All of these methods are acceptable. There is one I did not mention in the above list however. It can be considered trivial by some, but I think it is also important. Perhaps we can understand a culture by its humor. Even on the surface the jokes of a country generally reflect its habitat, attitude, and its people. In the US for instance, most jokes you hear on late night television would probably be political ones, bashing this political figure or the next. Why is this so? Perhaps ... For example, the strive toward communism became a major topic. • 10. The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien According to Dictionary.com a leader is a person who rules, guides or inspires others . Often a leader is more than that. Leaders care about the group as a whole not just their individual part. They see the big picture and help everyone else to see it too. They are the one the group looks up to and depends on. If the leader is lost almost always a new unlikely leader is bound to emerge. Leaders often do not know who they are until they are put in a position where they must lead for the success of the group. Leaders play a huge role in the book The Hobbit. Jack Welch summarizes the leader s role in this book perfectly. Bilbo before he is a leader, Bilbo when he is a leader and Gandalf s actions all relate to the quote Before you are a leader, success is all about growing yourself. When you become a leader, success is all about growing others. Jack Welch Before Bilbo is a leader his success is all about him. How he can better his own personal well being and improve himself. • 15. A Study Of Rauschenberg s Erased De Kooning Drawing A Study of Rauschenberg s Erased de Kooning Drawing In 1953, Robert Rauschenberg had the idea of adding drawing to his All White Series. However, drawing on these paintings, or anywhere, would defeat the purpose of this series, and so he came to the conclusion that the only way he could achieve this would be through erasure. He began experimenting with his own drawings, but still being a young artist it he didn t think it would be considered art. For his idea to work, he thought, it had to be art that he erased. Having admiration and respect for artist Willem de Kooning, Rauschenberg decided to buy a bottle of Jack Daniels, and go to his house. Rauschenberg explained to de Kooning his idea, and asked if he could use a drawing of his. Reluctant, de Kooning agreed, only because he understood the idea. After looking through his portfolios, de Kooning handed Rauschenberg a drawing that he would miss, and that was almost impossible to erase. A month later, Rauschenberg successfully erased de Kooning s drawing, and with the help of Jasper Johns, titled the piece in ink, and framed it. Robert Rauschenberg s Erased de Kooning Drawing can be seen as either a minimalist piece or conceptual piece. Through a clearer understanding of both movements, the aim of this essay is to show how this piece could be seen as a minimal piece or a conceptual piece, and to see which movement it leans more towards. Daru was asked to take prisoner to a nearby town Tinguit where he would be tried for relative s murder. The teacher did not want to take part in these events, but Balducci still left Arab in the school. Daru did not treat the man like a prisoner. Daru informed the Arab about existed choices and did not try to show him that one of them would be more honorable than the other .However, the teacher wished the man to stay away from French officials. Daru with heavy heart made out the Arab walking slowly on the road to prison (Camus 11). Words with heavy heart highlighted the man wanted Arab to choose the road to nomads. The sentence could show that Daru was more on Algerian than the French side in the conflict in spite of his pursuance of neutrality. Teacher s attitude was highlighted by the Arab s behavior. Daru treated apprehended man as a guest, not a prisoner, but the man could deny his hospitality or even kill the teacher as a roadblock on the way to freedom. However, the Arab did not hurt Daru, accepted his food and beverages. This behavior can be treated as a sign of political solidarity, the food symbolizing the exchange of life between them (Bernardo). Arab s decision to go to the police headquarters in Tinguit, and the fact he did not try to hurt Daru, showed the man was not really a bad person; and the murder he committed could be a result of emotions or misunderstanding. These suggestions make readers to support Daru s decision to give the Arab an opportunity to choose his fate by himself, and not make a man a subject of a travesty of a trial (Bernardo). The consequences of his decision may have results of strategic importance to the relationship between not only China and the United States, but between Vietnam and the U.S., as well as other peripheral nations that share interests and territorial claims in the South China Sea. Additional aspects impacting the situation include the history that is important to understanding China s thought process, humanitarian concerns, the very real American military requirement to come to the aid of American citizens under threat, and finally, the potential to become engaged in a kinetic engagement with a Chinese warship. All weigh heavily upon any decision making process, and can be analyzed through a combination of both consequentialism and deontological thought. Under those thought constructs, the captain is justified in acting to save the lives of the Americans in question. Both the consequences of a decision to act, as well as an analysis of the rightness or the duty of a decision to act are in the captain s favor. China has used historical claims to justify its territorial usurpations in the South China Sea. • 29. Lord Of The Flies Femininity Analysis Lord of the Flies is a novel written by the Nobel Prize winning author William Golding about a group of schoolboy stuck on a deserted island, attempting to establish a well organized society but fail. The story lacks a real female character. Hence, most critics pay no attention on this issue. Nevertheless, the issue of femininityis implicitly presented in the story; malecharacters are rejecting the femininity. For example, in the protagonist Ralph s memory, he never read one of the books standing on his shelf because that is the book about two girls (Golding 112). Also, when the boys hair grow longer due to the long stay on the island, they refuse to tie the hair back since it would be like girls (Golding 172). The novel embodies the confrontation between masculinityand femininity. In light of this, this paper argues that by considering Piggy the representative of femininity, Lord of the Flies illustrates how the exclusive nature of masculinity repudiates femininity, which causes the final disintegration of the society on the island. Lord of the Flies depicts the disintegration of the order and the collapse of the harmony mainly embedded in the conflict between Ralph and Jack, the two competing leaders in the novel. • 31. The Rise Of Christianity And Christianity Christianity began its succession into the most dominant worldwide religion after Jesus crucifixion and resurrection. We heard Him say, I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days build another made without hands. Upon Jesus death and resurrection, he completed this task setting forth the development of Christianity. Since Jesusleft no formal authoritative power, organization, or agreed upon scriptures, a wide variety of sects gained popularity in the development of Christianity. Most of these sects were later deemed as heretic, one of the most notable being Gnosticism. Gnosticism was a dualist religion believing the material world evil and the invisible spirit realm good. This belief obligated Gnosticism to follow Docetic interpretations. Docetism is the belief that Jesus was never truly man but rather a divine from the spirit world. All forms of Christianity, however, believe Jesus is son of God sent as humanity s savior from damnation. Docetism, along with other aspects of Gnosticism, drove other Christians condemn Gnosticism as heresy. Gnosticism, however, is more comparable to Canonical Christians than realized. Specifically, the distinction between Docetism and strict Canonical belief is not only insignificant but also justifiable due to Canonical contradictions surrounding Jesus existence. Canonical Christians belief on Jesus time on earth is exhibited clearly by The Gospel of John, The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Ontological Argument Ontological Argument One of the most fascinating arguments for the existence of an all perfect God is the ontological argument. Ontological arguments are arguments to prove the existence of God based on pure reason alone. They attempt to show that we can deduce God s existence from, so to speak, the very definition of God. St. Anselm of Canterbury proposed the first and most well known ontological argument in 1078 in his Proslogion, but it was actually Immanuel Kant, an 18th century German philosopher, who first called the argument ontological. In his argument, Anselm defines God as that than which nothing greater can be conceived. This can be interpreted as defining God as maximal perfection, or the greatest possible being. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He thought the ontological argument was flawed. Any argument for the existenceof God based on the proposition that a God that exists in reality is greater than a God that exists in the imagination is based on a confusion. According to Kant, the confusion lies in the fact that existence is not a predicate. A predicate is a property that a thing can either possess or lack. When people say that God exists, they are not saying that there is a God and He possesses the property of existence. If they did, they would be saying that there is a God, but he lacks the property of existence, confirming and denying God s existence at the same time. Kant suggests that to say that something exists is to say that the concept of that thing is demonstrated in the world. Existence is then not a matter of a thing possessing a property (existence) but of a concept corresponding to something in the world. For example, if we are given a complete description of an object and then it is added to the description that the object exists, in saying that it exists adds nothing to the idea of the object. The object is the same whether it exists or not. If Kant is correct in his view that existence is not a property of objects, then it is impossible to compare a God that exists to a God that does not. In Kant s eyes, a God that exists and a God that does not are identical. A God that exists is omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, etc. A God that does not exist is ... Many people were very frustrated at the fact that it was not fair for the working class that worked to provide for their families to go off to fight a war that they did not want to be a part of. Another reason many people very upset was because in America they were all supposed to be seen as equals (predominantly whites). • 35. Music Piracy s Impact On The Industry Music Piracy s Impact on the Industry The digital age has brought innumerable benefits to society throughout the past decade. Many new markets have been created, and routes for innovation have opened, but not all industries have flourished as a result of this era. Music piracy, which is the illegal act of obtaining or distributing sound recordings without the owner s permission, is theorized to be the ultimate downfall of the music industry. CD sales have plummeted and caused the music moguls to panic, but their worriedness might be narrow sighted. Through speculative research, it can be surmised that the act of piracy can positively influence a musician s career, allow for new opportunities and niches in the market, and have little side effects to anyone else in the business. Pirating music, regardless of reason, is illegal in the United States and holds great penalties. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) is the entity in charge of enforcing copyright violations. According to their website, Criminal charges may leave you with a felony record, accompanied by up to five years of jail time and fines up to $250,000 (RIAA). With charges at that rate, the public would be expected to pay the $0.99 fee for a song on iTunes rather than face the repercussions, but the rate only increased. • 36. An Explanation Of The Postal Rule (1) The purpose of this essay is to provide an explanation of the postal rule while dealing with acceptance of an offer, as well as evaluating how effective the postal rule is today. The main body of this essay will look at what the postal rule while dealing with acceptance of an offer is, as well as the circumstances surrounding the creation of the postal rule. There will also be an evaluation of the effectiveness of the postal rule today. This will be summarised with a conclusion. In most circumstances, the acceptance speaks only once it is received by the offeror. However, as seen in the case of Adams v Lindsell in 1818, before the rule regarding the communication of acceptance existed, the postal rule creates a problem as to when the acceptance becomes binding. In this particular case the Court of King s Bench concluded the contract was formed when the letter of acceptance was posted on September 5th (Furmston, 2012, p.70). The decision in Adams v Lindsell did not instantly command uncritical acceptance. In 1880, in Byrne v Van Tienhoven, Lindley J said It may be taken as now settled that, where an offer is made and accepted by letters sent through the post, the contract is completed the moment the letter accepting the offer is posted, even though it never reaches its destination. (Furmston, 2012, p.70). The postal rule presents a number of questions within the law; such as can acceptance be recalled before it reaches the offeror? In England, this question has no ... • 37. Stylistic Prose Techniques In Cry, The Beloved Country By... Stylistic prose technique 1: IMAGERY Authors who use imagery wish to give the readers a physical feeling of literature while reading any sort of piece. It allows for the audience to connect to the characters on a deeper level by having them experience the same feelings, smells, noises, etc, as did the roles in the novel. Alan Patonuses a strong voice packed with imagery in his passage, For they grow red and bare; they cannot hold the rain and mist, and the streams are dry in the kloofs. Too many cattle feed upon the grass, and too many fires have burned it. Stand shod upon it, for it is coarse and sharp, and the stones cut under the feet. It is not kept or guarded, or cared for, it no longer keeps men, guards men, cares for men (Paton, 34). The overwhelming senses of touch and vision are more than prevalent in this brief passage, with Paton perfectly conveying the atmosphere of rural South Africa in the 1940 s. The reader gets a catholic impression of the arid climate as well as the deteriorated lands on which it rests. By including this in his novel, Alan Paton establishes a thorough setting, one of which the reader can fully understand for the remaining duration of Cry, The Beloved Country. Stylistic prose technique 2: DRAMATIC IRONYIn short, dramatic irony is in any given literary scenario when future actions can be accurately anticipated by the readers but not the characters. It often includes cliches and is used by authors wishing to give their audience insight that their characters do not yet have. Powerful dramatic irony is demonstrated in the scene: Shall I get your ticket for you, umfundisi? Then you need not lose your place in the line while I go to the ticket office... As though he has suddenly though of something he left the line, and walked to the corner, but there was no sign of the young man... Where is the ticket office my friend? You get your ticket on the bus. There is no ticket office (Paton, 49). Alan Paton is able to show how vulnerable and naГЇve Stephen Kumalo is to the big city; using something so predictable as a sly, nevertheless, predictable con artist, he shows how foreign lies and deceit are to the pastor. Both texts are of dystopian fiction, set in post nuclear war nations, although they are somewhat of a different nature. The concepts of totalitarianism and censorship are explored throughout the texts by addressing the issue of knowledge is power , the use and abuse of technology and the desensitising of society. Although these are mentioned in both 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, they are different in the way they are approached by each totalitarian government, as the government in 1984 is much more severe in the way each of these issues are dealt with in the text. Both authors emphasise the message that knowledge is power in order to warn modern society of the damage that can be done by embracing totalitarianism regimes. Orwell is much stronger in portraying it, which is displayed through the party slogan who controls the past controls the future, who controls the present controls the past . Bradbury acknowledges this by removing literature, although people are still free to think. Orwell takes it further by making readers question, what knowledge can be trusted? If all thought is removed, eventually, nobody will be able to have power because if the knowledge is unknown to be true, it cannot be used to form a common argument against the government. In 1984 and Fahrenheit 451, the governments utilise technology to abuse the citizens rights to privacy as well as advertise political propaganda. In both texts, television plays an integral part of the use of technology. In Bradbury s text, a 24/7 TV program includes the audience in order to provide the impression they are an important part of society, whereas in Orwell s text, the telescreens are not only used for propaganda, but also to constantly monitor Oceania s citizens. The Moral Obligation Of Affluent Individuals The question on whether affluent individuals have a moral obligation to assist the poor is a widely controversial subject, and this was even apparent in our very own ethical reasoning class. So the question still stands, is it our duty to assist the poor? The answer is much simpler than people make it out to be. Yes. While this answer is widely based of off my own opinion as well as those of Peter Singer, I am prepared to defend my answer not only with the Singers evidence but also with my own thoughts and motives. But I don t believe that only the rich should feel the moral obligation to assist the poor, I believe everyone should do whatever we can to help one another. I do not believe that people should be forced into helping one another by laws and government authorities, but instead that it is the simply the right thing to do. First off I am going to explain the details of Singers argument for the moral obligation of affluent individuals to assist the poor. Singer basis his argument off utilitarian grounds, so generally promoting whatever promotes the most happiness for the most people. Here are Singers three main premises. First, if we have the power to prevent something bad from happening without having to sacrifice too much then morally we should do it. Second, poverty is the number one source of human misery. And third, those who are well off have a moral obligation to help reduce poverty, but they do not necessarily have to sacrifice everything or anything of too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the past it has laid the base for flourishing cultures and a feeling of belonging. In the present it has brought diversity through political parties, opportunity for minorities, but also shortcomings and views of division. But if diversity can continue to flourish, and if we can learn to compromise, our future will be abundant with progress and peace. The diversity of America s past has laid the foundation for the flourishing culture we have today. Even in colonial America, we were one of the most diverse places in the world. The first federal census in 1790 recorded that one fifth of the entire population was African American. Those that composed the white populations had ancestries of three fifths were English, one fifth Scottish or Irish, and rest was of Dutch, French, German, Swedish, or other backgrounds. With such a varied foundation, it s no surprise that those who came here felt a feeling of belonging in the new land. • 48. The Trade Organization And International Dispute Settlement I.INTRODUCTION The World Trade Organization ( WTO ) Dispute Settlement System and the International Centre for the Settlement of Investment Disputes ( ICSID ) are two of the most widely used methods of international dispute settlement. An important reason for this popularity is that States have consented in advance to compulsory dispute settlement by the WTO and also, but to a lesser extent, by ICSID arbitration. In the case of the WTO it is the WTO Dispute Settlement Understanding that confers compulsory jurisdiction on the WTO Dispute Settlement System; while in the case of ICSID a large number of States have consented in advance to ICSID jurisdiction over their disputes with investors by means of express provisions in Bilateral Investment Treaties. Moreover, an important additional reason for the widespread use of ICSID as a forum for international dispute settlement is that investors who are in effect the substantive rights holders under Bilateral Investment Treaties are often given the right to institute ICSID arbitration directly against the host State. But the WTO, unlike ICSID, is much more than just a dispute settlement system: the WTO possesses an important institutional element that has the capacity to formulate and apply systemic values, and it is this feature which represents a fundamental difference between the WTO Dispute Settlement System and ICSID arbitration. Introduction to Industrial Design Our modern lives are full of manufactured products. Nearly everything that surrounds us in our day to day lives is born of intense industrial processes, yet rarely do we think of the systems that support our lifestyles. Finding a single action in a day that does not somehow depend on fossil fuels is nearly impossible. Everything we use, eat, or come in contact with has either been shipped or manufactured (or both) far away from where we live, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Never before has the sustenance of a culture imposed detrimental effects on such a worldwide scale as our own (Chiras, 2001). Our daily negligence and blind support of industrial systems of design is destroying the natural world that supports us. There are several problems with industrial design and processes. Primarily, industrial design is not case specific. It cares not for bioregional differences, but tends to value strength. Take for example clothing detergents. Water in different areas has differing degrees of mineral concentrations. Water with lower concentrations of minerals, as may be found in the northwestern United States, requires less detergent than water in the Southwest to clean clothing. However, detergent has a universal dosage and strength despite these regional differences (McDonough 2002, p. 29). Excess detergent can contaminate waterways and alter aquatic ecosystems. Another example is lawn fertilization. Many people over fertilize their lawns in order to improve the color, which can harm aquatic life when runoff occurs. Many of these people also throw away their clippings after mowing, effectively removing nutrients from their lawns. Now the fertilization is required again. These homeowners are now increasing their dependence on industrial systems while hurting natural systems, instead of utilizing natural systems, which would decrease their need for industrial ...
