Expository Essays Sample
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Expository Essays Sample" can prove to be a challenging
endeavor. The difficulty lies not in the complexity of the topic itself, but rather in the intricate
balance required to present informative content in a clear and engaging manner. Expository
essays demand a thorough understanding of the chosen subject, as well as the ability to convey
that knowledge to the audience in a structured and coherent way.
One of the primary challenges is to avoid veering into a persuasive or argumentative tone, as the
essence of expository writing lies in providing an unbiased and objective analysis of the topic.
Striking the right balance between information and readability poses another hurdle. It requires a
skillful blend of facts, examples, and explanations without overwhelming the reader with an
information overload.
Additionally, crafting a compelling introduction and a satisfying conclusion can be daunting. The
introduction must capture the reader's attention, outline the purpose of the essay, and establish a
clear thesis statement. Meanwhile, the conclusion should summarize the key points, leaving a
lasting impression without introducing new information.
Furthermore, maintaining a logical flow and coherence throughout the essay is crucial.
Transitioning smoothly between ideas, ensuring each paragraph contributes to the overall
argument, and avoiding repetition are constant challenges. Balancing depth and breadth in the
content adds an extra layer of complexity, as the essay should delve into the topic sufficiently
without becoming too lengthy or overly detailed.
In conclusion, while the topic "Expository Essays Sample" may seem straightforward, the
process of creating a well-crafted essay involves navigating a maze of challenges. It demands a
nuanced understanding of the subject, adept organization of information, and skillful writing.

The Psycho Stars Christian Bale
American Psycho stars Christian Bale, William Dafoe, Reese Witherspoon, and
Josh Lucas. Patrick Bateman is a very wealthy man who in his own world believes
he s a murderer. He leads his secret life hiding it from the public that he is a serial
killer. Throughout the movie Bateman seems to be losing control of his urges and
begins to see things that might not be there. The movie ends leaving a doubt in our
minds if Bateman was really a serial killer or was all the agony and pain all made up
in his mind.
In the movie Patrick Bateman displays signs of antisocial personality disorder which
isn t very common. A total of three percent of men have it and one percent of
women. There are many symptoms that come along with the disorder, Being very
aggressive to others physically and verbally, being irresponsible, uncontrollable
lying and also a lack of remorse for actions that were done. Not all of these
symptoms are very rare but being on the extreme end and having multiple of them
can be signs for antisocial personality disorder. Many of the serial killers have been
diagnosed with the disorder. Bateman does things very much out of impulse. He
also is very aggressive and snaps on people. Through the movie he keeps killing
people just because he has the urge to. He Kills a homeless man and his dog in an
ally way. Later on in the movie he kills one of the people that he works with, using
an axe he killed Paul in his house then made it look like he went on a trip to
Why Is Ma Rainey Important
Gertrude Ma Rainey is a pivotal figure in the history of American music. She was the
first person to ever perform blues and the first internationally known African
American female blues singer. Her music acted as inspiration for many distinguished
figures during the Harlem Renaissance, and continues to influence contemporary
music and art.
A single source of blues music cannot be traced, but Ma Rainey is rightfully credited
with introducing it to the world. Hence the reason she was dubbed as The Mother
of the Blues . During an interview in the 1930s, Ma told musicologist John Work,
that she heard what would be called blues, for the first time around 1902. She was
in a small town in Missouri working a show at the time, and one morning a local
girl came into the tent singing about a man whom had left her. This new style of
soulful music drew in Ma Rainey so much she later had the girl teach her the song.
Rainey performed the song as an encore in a show soon after, earning a special place
in the show, and marking the start of her career (Jas Obrecht Archive).
Gertrude Pridgett was born in 1986 to tent performers Thomas Pridgett Sr. and Ella
Allen Pridgett. Both were said to had traveled around the south performing minstrel
shows, which was the most popular form of live comedy entertainment from 1840 to
the early nineteenth century (Biography.com). Because of her parents involvement,
Gertrude had always been surrounded by show business and always had a love for

Like all works of art. the portrait is a system of signs; it is often an ideogram of
public meanings condensed into the image of a human face. Roman portrait sculpture
from the Republic through the late Empire the second century BCE. to the sixth CE
constitutes what is surely the most remarkable body of portrait art ever created. Its
shifting montage of abstractions from human appearance and character forms a
language in which the history of a whole society can be read. Beginning in the first
century B.C., Roman artists invented a new kind of portraiture, as unlike that of the
great tradition of Greek... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The emphasis accorded these contingencies of physiognomy and the resolute
refusal of any concession to our or, so it would appear, antiquity s ideas of
desirable physical appearance lead one easily to the conclusion that those portraits
are uncompromising attempts to transcribe into plastic form the reality of what is
seen, innocent of any idealization or programmatic bias. These are the portraits of
the conservative nobility (and of their middle class emulators) (luring the death
agonies of the Roman republic. There is no need to doubt that much of their
character refers to quite real qualities of their subjects. These are men in later life
because the carefully prescribed ladder of public office normally allowed those who
followed it to attain only gradually and after many years to such eminence as would
allow the signal honor of a public statue. One may well suppose that these hard bitten
and rather unimaginative faces closely reflect the prevailing temperament of the class
and society to which they belong, and the twisted and
Evaluation Of A Hydration Intervention Among Outdoor...
Abstract
Currently, in the absence of federal regulations for the prevention of heat related
illness in the workplace, employers are encouraged to develop plans that include
hydration, training, acclimatization periods for new employees, and alternating work
patterns. Although these methods are documented to prevent or reduce the likelihood
of a heat casualty event, they are less likely to consider truly adequate hydration
behaviors. Additionally, much of the data that exists on human hydration status has
focused on hospitalized, institutionalized or professional athletes. There is a
knowledge gap regarding hydration perceptions and status in healthy, outdoor
workers, and quantifying the increased risk of heat related illnesses.
This study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although consistent implementation of these methods in conjunction with one
another is documented to prevent or reduce the likelihood of a heat casualty event,
typically management of outdoor construction environments focuses on using
informal techniques to monitor environmental heat indices and providing access to
fluids, but is less likely to consider actual quantification and evaluation of adequate
hydration behavior of affected employees 1 3,8,17,18. For this research to practice
project, evaluating construction employee hydration in relationship to environmental
factors, task effort, hydration technology interventions, training programs, and
personal characteristics will be a novel approach to assessing intervention
effectiveness. The outcome will provide management guidance on how to most
effectively pre plan for HRI prevention resulting in reduced risk and increased
productivity.
In 1986, NIOSH estimated that 5 10 million American workers were to be
considered at risk for HRI for at least part of the year10. However, the most recent
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report concluded that increases
in the frequency and magnitude of temperature extremes will occur with almost
100% probability throughout the 21st century, and that heat waves will also increase
in frequency and severity7. The recent years of record breaking
Advertisement Advertisements For Women s Advertising
KEEP IT REAL JUST FOR ONCE
Nowadays, companies spend billions of dollars in search of customers for the
companies products. As a result, the necessity of target advertising can t be
underestimated. After all, women had no reason to purchase a $50000 necklace until
Pandora proposed the tagline, your jewelry isn t just jewelry, in its latest
advertisement in Cosmopolitan Magazine (Pandora. Cosmopolitan). In that regard,
modern advertisements paint a stereotypical image of an ideal woman as the classy
being, appareled in artificial, perhaps fake, beauty. If it s not the glossy pink or red
lips, then it ll either be the artificial eye lashes, the dyed hair, or sexy stare that
hangs on the pages of magazines and postal on bill boards. While advertisements
attempt to convince us that all women are supposed to look pretty, be looked at and
be seductive, in reality, this is unwarranted. As careful analysis of three ads targeting
at women in Advertisement Cosmopolitan 2015 indicate, advertisements , in attempt
to catch patrons , have besmirched the ideologies about women s prototype by
stereotypically exaggerating the relevance of physical beauty in them. Moreover,
such unfair portrayer is proven, on several bases, to be detrimental in the long run.
One of the most common unfair messages conveyed in women oriented ads is that
the physical appearance of women is all that matters. This proposes that without
applying makeups, dying
Why I Am A Cold Bowl Of Mac And Cheese
As I sat down to eat the cold bowl of Mac and Cheese that I had brought with me,
my emotions boiled over as a horror which I wish upon no one came forth.
Infuriated, my rage took control of me as I jumped out of my chair, forcibly tossing
the only source of food I had disposable to me in the garbage. This climatic moment
was initiated upon my discovery that there was a broken microwave in the Sawyer
lounge and Suffolk Universityhad yet to replace it. Yes, it seems trivial, even
downright ridiculous to get that pent up over a defunct microwave, but look at the
scenario from my perspective. Imagine getting up at six in the morning for a nine
A.M. class, anxious about all your assignments coming up, and having your last
class finish at five forty five P.M. I had wondered how many other commuter
students had to suffer the same fate as I had to that day. All you want is a warm
energizing meal, but the broken microwave prevents you from obtaining it.
See, what the incident stated above did is affirm my notion that Suffolk is not
accommodating to its commuter students. Historically, Suffolk University was a
commuter school. However, since 1996, Suffolk has opened four residence halls,
the most recent being The Modern Theater Residence Hall, which opened in 2010.
(Suffolk University) This has resulted in a shift in the school that saw 66.9% of the
admitted freshmen class of 2015 live in the residence halls (Applications at el).
Conversely, as the University has shifted towards the
Sentencing Of Sentencing And Sentencing Guidelines
Sentencing is a complicated, and sometimes extremely harsh set of rules. It has very
deterrence, and retribution based set of rules for the most part. Which is indicative of
the society we as americans live in. Through this paper i will explain each type of
sentencing guideline. They are Intermediate, Determinate, Mandatory, Concurrent,
and consecutive. Also we will talk about how in some states mandatory guidelines
actually can lower the total prisonpopulation. But how in states that are not resource
drive, incapacitationis on the rise. Finally i will convey my thoughts on sentencing.
How it is a flawed and ,mostly broken system.
Sentencing types: The text describes the five main types of sentencing. The first of
which is intermediate sentencing. This type of sentencing is considered to be more
in tune with rehabilitation than other sentencing. This is because the sentence a person
serves is not simply based on how many years a person serves. The book gives a
great example to help clarify, the person shall not be imprisoned for less than 2 or
3 years to 10 years (Stohr 73). What this means is that the person does not
necessarily have to serve the maximum of ten years. With good behavior, and by
showing that they have changed they may be released in as little as 2 years. Next
there determinate sentencing. This essentially serve as the opposite of indeterminate.
Meaning that the prisoner must serve a fixed number of years before release. In the

Summary Of Remember The Ladies By Abigail Adams
Abigail Adams wrote a letter to her husband John Adams called Remember the
Ladies. Abigail is writing this letter during the Revolutionary War. The timing of the
letter is significant because the country is at war for freedom and equality. In her
letter Abigail pleas with her husband for women s equality. Abigail s purpose for
writing to John regarding women s equality is so that he will think of women as they
adopt new laws. Throughout the letter Abigail uses different points of view, word
choice, and varying tones to persuade her husband to see the need for laws that are
considerate of women. Abigail Adamsis making a plea for equality for women and
for herself. This can be seen when she uses the points of view you, I, your, ours
and us at different points in her letter. That your Sex are Naturally Tyrannical is a
Truth so thoroughly established as to admit no dispute, but such as you wish to be
happy willing to give up the harsh title of Master for the more endearing one of
Friend (24). Abigail uses I and you because she is referencing their own relationship
and the equality she wants in their marriage. She does this to show how it affects
them personally.
Abigail changes her point of view again, this time for a larger purpose. Why then,
not put it out of the power of the vicious and the Lawless to use us with cruelty and
indignity and impunity (24). Abigail s use of the word us shows she is no longer
posing her argument from a personal stance, but to include all

It is in work for on Friday, March 2019, for the UK has voted to leave the European
Union. Discussion has been on going on how the Brexit or British exit on three major
aspects; what the United Kingdom owes the European Union, what will happen to the
Northern Ireland border and the select United Kingdom citizens living elsewhere in
the EU, but not the United Kingdom. Though the UK has decided to the leave the
UK, they re in talks of a smooth transition over the next few years. But all other

But predictions of immediate chaos were predicted wrong. With the UK economy
growing by a margin of about 1.8% in 2016, second only to Germany s 1.9%

consistently almost had the same rate for all of 2017. Inflation has risen since
June 2016 to stand at 3.9%, but unemployment has continually fell to a stand at a
42 year low of 4.3%. Yearly house prices increasing have taken a toll and have
fallen from 9.4% in June 2016 but, were still at an inflation beating 5% in the year
to August 2017, according to official ONS figures. Now what will happen to
citizens of the EU living in the United Kingdom? A 15 page proposal has been
revealed by Theresa May but, has yet to be agreed upon. The 15 proposals are;
those granted settled status will be able to live, work, study, and claim benefits
just as they can now, the cut off date for eligibility is undecided but will be
between the 29th of March 2017 and 29th of March 2019, family members of EU
citizens living abroad will be able to return and apply for settled status, EU
nationals in the UK for less than five years at the specified date will be able to
continue living and working in the UK, once resident for five years, they can apply
for settled status, those arriving after the cut off point will be able to stay

The Epic Of Gilgamesh And Analysis
The Epic of Gilgamesh Summary and analysis Introduction The Epic of Gilgamesh
is an excerpt of the original text of the Epic listed in the Sources of the Western
Tradition , 5th edition, by Perry, Peden and Von Laue (2003). The Epic of
Gilgamesh is the story of King Gilgamesh who is the powerful king of Uruk, the
incidents in his life, the associations he makes, the encounters he has, and the
transition that occurs in his life in relation to his gaining knowledge of the mortality
of human life. The story further outlines the transformation that Gilgamesh gets with
respect to his outlook after the traumatic death of his friend Enkidu, which makes
him to embark on a quest for eternity. Gilgamesh subjects the people in his kingdom
to hard rule. The Gods create Enkidu to counter him. Friendship develops between
Enkidu and Gilgamesh and together they launch adventures for conquests together.
In the process, they kill the terrible monster, Humbaba and the Bull of Heaven. For
this, they incur the wrath of Gods, who decide to put an end to the life of Enkidu.
Enkidu gets a dream about his impending death and dies after suffering for a few
days with sickness. The death of Enkidu shatters Gilgamesh who wants to
immortalize himself by escaping death. He goes in search of Utnapishtim, who is
blessed with immortality by the Gods. Utnapishtim tells him that death is inevitable
for a human and immortality is impossible to achieve. The Epic of

Over the past several decades, we as a people have allowed the fundamental
principles written in our Constitution to be forgotten, distorted, or completely
ignored. This did not happen overnight but rather bit by bit over time until we are
faced with a system of government that is not, as the founders intended, based on

During the ratification debates for the Constitution it become apparent to many that
the principle of federalism was not spelled out strongly enough. Five states insisted on
an amendment to the Constitution that would make the principle of federalism clear
to future generations. The purpose of the Tenth Amendment is to clearly define the
principle of federalism for future generations. The Tenth Amendment to the United

At present, more than half of the United States is suing the federal government over
Obama Care. Virginia was the first state to argue in Federal Court that the new health
care law and its individual mandate is unconstitutional. It is Virginia s position that
mandating the purchase of a private product goes beyond the power of congress.
There has never, in the history of the United States, been a law requiring citizens to
purchase a product. Apparently, up until this point, everyone knew that Congress did
not have the power to impose one. Central to the argument of the federal government,

Comparison to cases
R v Kumar and R v Perry both faced issue that related to rights to silence. In
comparison, R v Perry dealt with a less serious offence. In R v Perry, it was decided
that the justice system s credibility and effectiveness mattered more than the
information provided, hence the Court of Appeal decided that the admission was to
be excluded due to the breach of the right to silence. Once that right is exercised, then
the police must respect it.
On the other hand, R v Wichman had a different finding. This case involved a father
violently assaulting his daughter, which inevitably led to her death. The Supreme
Court decided that the evidence would be admissible. The evidence in this case was
obtained through an undercover operation, where Wichman was invited to join a
criminal organisation that was run by undercover officers. He confessed during this
operation, which led to his arrest. This evidence was excluded in his sentencing, and
instead, his guilty plea was relied on by the jury.
Both cases show the exclusion of improperly obtained evidence. However, they raise
the question of how much harm needs to occur in order to justify using evidence that
was obtained while police officers were
Sour Patch Kids
Music is an aspect of every culture that is used to connect its people and bring the
group together. Essentially, every culture has their own unique genre of music. The
question of what is good music, is an intriguing one because the answer to this
question varies from culture to culture. Even within a culture, the musical preferences
change based on the individual. For this What is good musicproject, I chose the song
Sour Patch Kids, by Bryce Vine, because this song exemplifies a few things that I
look for when determining good music.
I first found this song a couple of summers ago, when my friend Joey showed it to
me. Instantly, I became a fan of this song and a fan of Bryce Vine s music. I chose
to use this song instead of his other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start off, I really enjoy the beat that Bryce uses on this track. This song features
an upbeat rhythm, and the lyrics compliment the beat. The entire song is supposed
to deliver a nostalgic feel to the listener. Throughout the song, He incorporates
popular themes from his childhood into the lyrics, and the music video features
these themes throughout. For me, I think the nostalgic theme works well with this
song. It provides a happy, carefree feeling to the listener. When I listen to this song,
it personally brings back feeling and memories from the summer I was shown it.
Because of this, I believe the nostalgic theme of the song is a good fit. Another
reason this is good music is because of the lyrics. These lyrics break away from the
typical stereotype that is expected from rap/hip hop music. It seems that recently,
few popular songs have lyrics with meaning. Most feature lyrics that will appeal to
the masses to sell the most records. This is where Bryce Vine differentiates himself
from these artists. His lyrics share stories and experiences from his life, and are
very personalized for the listener. I recently went to one of his concerts he had in
East Lansing, and when he performed Sour Patch Kids, the entire crowd was singing
along, and was brought together. This experience exemplifies what Bryce Vine s
music is all about; connecting people and delivering quality
French Revolution Essay
The French Revolution was a time for expansion in human freedom. It was a way for
the French to re invent their government to give some sort of equality for their
people. There were many successes the French Revolution made, such as creating
public schools for children and making it mandatory for them to attend. The French
Revolutionhad the intentions to create a better government and lifestyle for their
people, such as Jacobins who believed in the poor having their turn to rule. Though,
others opposed the ideas of the revolution. Those people did not go unpunished by
their beliefs. This was known as the Reign of Terror, which was not completely
necessary for their society.

Part I: All children will attend school, boys between the ages of 5 and 12, girls
between the ages of 5 and 11. (Draft of Law on Public Education, by Citizen
Robespierre) This showed how the government was serious in making sure all
people in France had some education. This was a great success because every
person could at least read and write. Lastly, women were finally given the freedom
of equality. Woman had always been oppressed by men because of physical
capability, they were not as physically strong as men. But, they were finally able to
pass a law of equality in a written declaration. Article 1: Woman is born free and
lives equal to man in her rights. Social distinctions can be based only on the common
utility. (Declaration of the Rights of Women, by Olympe de Gouge) This clearly
shows that the French Revolution aided women in the right of equality with men.
These successes clearly show how the French Revolution helped to expand human
freedom.
The people who supported the Revolution were known as Jacobins. They were
people who believed that the poor should have the turn to rule, they represented the
lower class people. This group was made up of anyone who believed in their ideas,
even women. Two men who were part of the Jacobins were Georges Dantonand Jean

Essay On Doctor Faustus
Ironically, there was a direct correlation between Faustus using his blood to sign
over his soul to Lucifer and the blood Christ as a symbol of salvation. Faustus to
use his blood by the request of Mephastophilis to symbolized his true commitment to
sin. However, due to a strange twist of faith, his blood began to coagulate. Doctor
Faustus voice of reason enters into existence causing him to second guess his
decision. His actions gave the perception he may actually change his mind, however
those thought were short lived. It was with in Doctor Faustus belief system that he

Medieval Religion beliefs are centered on the notion all sins are forgiven with
exception in Doctor Faustus case; primarily, due to his corrupted spirit and self
denial to fall under the graciousness of God. His conscience was at the forefront of
his decision to practice black magic guiding him toward sin; even though he knew it
was wrong. (McCloskey 111)
Doctor Faustus seemed as if selling his soul was a small price to pay to gain
authority over others. In contrast, he failed to realize that Lucifer bought his soul at
four twenty years and condemned to hell for eternity. McCloskey acknowledged that,
Yet the prize for which he has sold his body and soul to the devilseems puny besides
the cost. (McCloskey 111) When in fact, God would have offered him forever grace
free of charge. It was quite possible Doctor Faustus could not ever image the power
of God s grace. There was only one way he could have survived the grips of
Lucifer, which would have been to repent. However, he chose the path of disparity
causing his own demise. It is the sin of despair which effects the catastrophe

In contrast to Doctor Faustus disparity he was revealed as a man who embraced the

were flourishing and there was an awakening or reformation of religion. It was not a

The London Blitz Essay
In September of 1940 through May of 1941 there was a strategic bombing attack
that was lead by the Germans targeted towards London and other cities located in
England, this was known as The Blitz. The Germans aimed the bombs mostly at
populated cities, dock yards, and factories.
The bombing on London began on September 7, 1940 and lasted for 57
consecutive nights. During these nights of bombing people took shelter in warehouse
basements, and in underground subway stations with no privacy and poor sanitation
facilities.

together.
Between five and six o clock on the evening of Saturday 7th September, some
320 German bombers supported by over 600 fighters flew up the Thames and
proceeded to bomb Woolwich Arsenal, Beckton gas Works, a large number of
docks, West Ham Power Station, and then the city, Westminster and Kensington.
They succeeded in causing a serious fire situation in the docks. An area about 1ВЅ
square miles between North Woolwich Road and the Thames was almost
destroyed, and the population of Silvertown was surrounded by fire and had to be
evacuated by water. At 8.10pm some 250 bombers resumed the attack which was
maintained until 4.30 on Sunday morning. They caused 9 conflagrations, 59 large
fires, and nearly 1,000 lesser fires. Three main line railway termini were put out
of action, and 430 persons killed and some 1,600 seriously injured. After the fire
brigades had spent all day in an effort to deprive the enemy of illumination, some
200 bombers returned in the evening (Sunday 8th) to carry on the assault. During
Are Coaches Ruining A Kid s Love For Sports
Bad coaching, Ruining a kid s love for a sport Are coaches killing childrens love
for sports? Coaches play a large role in how a kid views and plays a sport. It all
depends in what type of coach they are, they could be a good and positive coach
for the child or they could be a bad coach which is a huge negative towards the
children. For example, a good coach would keep his/her voice low after a mistake
made by a player and tell him/her what they did wrong. A bad coach on the other
hand would stand up and yell at the kids singling him/her out and telling that player
they suck. Kids could quit a sport they ve loved forever because of how their
coaches handle them and the game. Coaching happens all over the world and for
all sports and at any age. With coaching being everywhere there will be bad
coaches. One instance was when coach Raul Aragon got frustrated with an umpire
at a baseball game and was thrown out. He than chased the umpire around until
police arrived, he was coach of an 8 year old baseball team. Another experience with
a bad coach is when Kevin Pope, an assistant football coach, was pointing a bb gun at
a player for having bad grades. (Mark McCarter, Terrible Coaches has too many

The biggest difference between good coaches and bad coaches is how they
influence and handle a their players. A good coach can push a kids out of their
comfort zone to make him/her play better. Good coaches also make the players a
better person in society and help them gain confidence. A good coach is a fair
coach who sees all of his athletes as equals even when some athletes are superior to
others. A bad coach does the opposite of what good coaches. They have a negative
effect on the children they coach. Bad coaches can make practice a hostile
environment pushing the kids to their mental and physical limit. Bad coaches also

Radio Frequency Identification Chip Implants
Radio Frequency Identification Chip Implant (microchip implants) Radio Frequency
Identification Chip Implant (RFID) microchips are big controversy within human
beings. The microchips are implanted into the skin of humans and can do varying
things. These devices were not used in humans until recently which brought the
uproar of opinions. There could be positive things that come from these implants like
finding missing children. However, they could also cause other problems for people
for example the microchip could migrate to different part of the host s body.

The CPS stated that at the beginning of 2005 it had dealt with 4,728 cases of racially
aggravated crimes in the past 12 months; More than half of the victims were Asian,
with Islam the actual or perceived religion of those attacked. The criminal attacked
and insulted victims of Muslims because Muslims were view as supporters of
Osama bin laden or Saddam Hussein. Muslim communities have been targeted in
various forms, since the 2001 attacks either because of this or the combination of
factors. Moreover, when London was bombed in July 2005, this could only mean an
increase in anti Muslim emotion and an increase in race hate against Muslims
nationally. According to the Metropolitan police, religious hate crimes, mostly
against Muslims, rose 6 fold in London in the three weeks after the July 2005
bombings. Many of these involve verbal abuse and minor assaults, and damage to
mosques and property with a great emotional impact was also part of the report. This
includes assaults, criminal damage or public order offences, and included four
murders (BBC News, August 4, 2005). The independent (2 April, 2005) reported the
research into the effects of september11 and the invasion of Iraq found Islamophobic

young as 13. Kundnani has look at the after effects on one Muslim community

Analysis Of Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window
It is a Trap
It is just as easy to fall into the trap of our voyeuristic society today as it was for the
people of the 1950 s. In Alfred Hitchcock s, Rear Window voyeurism is a major theme
conveyed throughout the movie. J.B. Jefferies, Lisa, and Stella prove that human
fascination with voyeurism is not only addicting, but over time becomes contagious
and emotionally detrimental.
In the beginning of the movie the audience is introduced to the main character, J.B.
Jeffries. After an injury at work, Jefferies is stuck in his apartment with little to do.
This is when the idea of voyeurism is first seen in the movie. According to Google
Books, voyeurism is the observation of another person doing a private act. J.B.
spends his time looking out his window doing just that. He peers into his neighbors
apartments and watches as they live their everyday lives. He thinks he has each of
his neighbors figured out just by watching them through their windows. By the
middle of the movie Jefferies becomes so addicted to being a voyeur that he feels
the need to be closer. He therefore achieves this need by using his camera lens and
telescope to look closer into the other rooms. When this addiction of Jefferies first
starts off, both Stella, his nurse, and Lisa, his girlfriend, did not approve. Lisa and
Stella find it extremely odd of Jeffries to have become so hooked to being a voyeur
that he needs to stay up late into the night just to watch his neighbors lives unfold. By

Essay It Takes Warships and Commandos to Fight Pirates
on...
In the last decade, piracy at sea has been a common headline in news publications
around the world. News from cargo ships hijacked and their crews kidnapped for
ransom off the coast of Africa almost seem to be an everyday cry for action from the
international community. This illegal activity, common since the first merchant
vessels sailed the seas many centuries ago, has been a problem that civilization has
yet to resolve. However, the maritime shipping industry and the world s most invested
countries in maritime trade have responded effectively to these attacks in the past few
years by taking matters into their own hands. Specifically, many countries around the
world have been deploying anti piracynaval task forces to piracy hot spots ... Show

They understand that their skiffs and small weapons are no real match against the
manpower, firepower, and endurance of a naval vessel. At the same time, these
criminals also understand that anti piracy navy operations are expensive and cannot
cover the entire Gulf of Aden. Once pirates get control of a ship, it is very unusual for
naval forces to be able to intervene successfully; the risks to the ship s crew are too
high says Hughes (2013, para. 10). With this in mind, shipping companies approached
this problem with a hands on strategy.
To put it differently, naval patrols off the coast of Somalia have not been as
effective against piracy as expected. Consequently, the maritime shipping industry
turned to the private security industry for a solution. As a result, most ships that
transit piracy hot spots like the Gulf of Aden have armed security teams on board,
much like mercenaries. According to Rix (as cited in Tide turns against pirates,
2013), ships provided with an armed security detail have never been successfully
hijacked. The fight is always short when pirates attack armed cargo ships. In the vast
majority of cases, the commandos onboard repel pirate attacks without major
difficulties due to their higher ground position, tactical training, and better weapons.
A simple show of force or an occasional warning shot is normally enough for pirates
to back down.
In essence, taking the fight

Dyslexia is an ability within the sensory mechanism of the nervous system to

Issue The National Centre for Learning Disabilities says that dyslexia is a
neurological and often genetic condition, and not the result of poor teaching,
instruction or upbringing. Dyslexia is a specific reading disability due to a defect
in the brain s processing of graphic symbols according to the MNT Knowledge
Centre. It is a learning disability that alters the way the brain processes written
material. It is typically characterized by difficulties in word recognition, spelling
and decoding. People with dyslexia have problems with reading comprehension.
According to Natalie Hill Dyslexia is the most common cause of reading, writing
and spelling difficulties. Of people with poor reading skills, 70 80% are likely
dyslexic. One in five students of the population has a language based learning
disability. Dyslexia is probably the most common of the language based learning
disabilities. Statistics show that roughly 15% of the total US population have
dyslexia, of which a quarter are school aged children. Only 5% of dyslexics in the
US actually know about their condition, showing how little people are aware of
dyslexia (Dyslexia Research Institute). According to The International Dyslexia
Association, the impact that dyslexia has is different for each person and depends on
the severity of the condition and the approaches of the remediation. The
I Think About My Biggest Weakness
I think that one of my biggest weakness in any walk of life would be that I m not
all that adapt at writing assignments. I tend to always struggle at finding things to
write about, I wish I could learn to be better maybe if would become a better
listener it would help, that too is a weakness of mine its not as weak as my writing
ability. I would really like to get all of my weak areas betterbecause i feel that oneself
if they can improve in weak areas can be a better well rounded individual and
improvements in weak areas can also make ones self confidence better and if you
have a higher understanding of weak areas and make the necessary improvements
the world would be a better place for all who inhabit it. I feel that one small change
in each person can change the world for the better and in the event that would
occur we would be a happier more advanced world and it all starts with one person
making a small step i would be ecstatic to see what would happen if that would
come because at the end of the day we all have weak areas in our life that need
improvement and it doesn t mean we all have to be the same it just means that we
all improve in a small aspect of life. Also i think that the first step in improving is
not only realizing that you have weak areas but it also comes from learning from
our mistakes and building and growing on them first but of course you first have to
admit and realize you re weak suits.
The importance of solid communication skills is that it
Pablo Neruda Persona Persona
In the world of flux where identity is transformed and transfixed in such a way that
one has quest for one s identity. Man is a combination of complex selves that he
folds and unfolds time to time. In the quest for identity, memory plays a vital role as
it assimilates past experiences and reevaluates identity and present scenario. For
Pablo Neruda, a Chilean Poet and Diplomat, identity is a constant periphery which
circles around his multiple selves. Born and brought up in a small village of Chile,
Neruda is passionate about Nature, places and people. Inexhaustible traveler and
incessant acquaintance with the different people creates a deep influence on his
creative writing. The range of Neruda s poems indicates clearly that the poet persona

way that, an attacker will not be able to trace their existence, even if the attacker has

such cases, the attacker could obtain multiple snapshots of the storage content and
analyze them to deduce the existence of secret user data. To solve this problem, they
have introduced a Dummy Relocatable Steganographic (DRSteg) file system. It
employs new techniques to share and relocate dummy data at

Boeing Apache Paper
Apache
The Boeing AH 64 Apache is one of the most advanced attack helicopters in the
world. It has been in service since 1986 in the US Army. It fills multiple combat
roles in different configurations, and is commonly used as an anti armor aircraft,
or to support friendly infantry. It was originally designed to replace the AH 1
Cobra, and has since been upgraded and adapted to the Apache Longbow. The
Apache longbow is equipped with two 1,994 horsepower engines, which power it s
four bladed rotor, allowing it to reach speeds of over 180 mph, making it faster than
nearly all military helicopters. The Apache carries very advanced sensory arrays

Its main gun is an M230 chain gun, which fires 30mm rounds at a rate of 625 rounds
per minute. It can hold a maximum of 1200 of these rounds. Instead of being a
traditional machine gun and using expanding gas or recoil to fire the gun, it uses a
2 hp electric engine to actuate the bolt. Just to load this gun, ground crews have to
have access to specialized machinery to load and clean this weapon because of its
impressive size and electronic systems. But the Apache doesn t just have its gun. It
can mount up to 16 Hellfire missiles, each of which is capable at blowing up a tank
by itself, at ranges of over 4.5 miles. These missiles are radar or laser guided, and
lock onto targets, allowing a pilot to fire and forget . Hellfires are extremely
effective against armored vehicles, and have been adapted to use in other roles.
Apaches can also carry Hydra 70 rocket pods on its weapon pylons. These are thin,
long, unguided air to surface rockets that carry a 10 pound explosive warhead. These
are mostly used against infantry or lightly armored vehicles such as Jeep style
vehicles. All together, the armament used with the Apache is extremely effective in

Meaning Of Psalm 139
SIM #7 Psalm 139 Genre: The genre of Psalm 139 is Hebrew poetry, simply
because the psalms were written in Hebrew and are a collection of poems and
laments. The first principle of interoperation is that the psalms blend experience,
emotion, and theology. This should be taken into account while reading the poem in
order that the reader does not simply skip over the theology by only focusing on
experience and emotion. The second interoperation principle is that each psalm
should be read as a whole. Verses of psalmsshould not be taken out of context, in
doing this the reader may distort the meaning of the psalm. Another interpretation
principle to take into consideration is the different genres of psalms such as: laments,
thanksgiving, hymns of praise, wisdom, and songs of trust. With that being said,
Psalm 139 not only falls under the Hebrew poetrygenre, but is also classified as a
psalm of trust. Lastly, the fourth interpretation principle is that parallelisms are used.
In other words, ideas correlate in many different ways such as: synonymously,
antithesis, intensifying, specifying, and synthetically.
Grammatical/Literacy: Why does David specify that God will hold him with his right
hand? What is the depths and does this refer to hell?
Historical/Cultural: Are concerning and precious interchangeable in Hebrew (During
this time period)?
Does written in your (God s) book refer to the Old Testament that has been previously
written, such as the Mosaic Covenant?
To Smoke or Not to Smoke in Public Essay
To Smoke or Not To Smoke in Public People have strong feelings concerning
smoking in public places. Whether you are in favor of or in opposition to it,
smoking in public places is a serious concern that need be addressed. I agree that it
is unjust for smokers not to be allowed to smoke where they choose, but it is even
more unreasonable for non smokers to be subjected to breathing in the exhaled smoke
form someone else(passive smoking). Not to mention second hand smoke is actually
worse for someone than smoking itself. Along with the dangers second hand smoke
presents to the adults, think about what it does not only to your children but other
children around you. Smokers may argue that non smokers can just as easily walk
away as a smoker... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Second hand smoke increases a person s chances of getting coronary disease by up
to thirty percent. Second hand smoke also raises the chances of lung and other types
of cancer. Each year there are approximately 53,000 deaths from lung cancer and
respiratory problems and 25,000 of them are from non smokers. Although that is a
long term issue, there are more issues that present themselves instantly. Itchy eyes,
runny nose, coughing, hives, and excessive phlegm are just a few.
As parents, it is our job to protect our children and that includes the unseen dangers of
second hand smoke. Some of the dangers to children include asthma, lower
respiratory illness, middle ear infections, reduced lung growth or sudden infant death
syndrome. When children are developing, and are subjected to passive smoking
(second hand smoke), their lung and brain function can be stunted. Middle ear
infections can be painful to children and if left untreated can cause permanent
damage to their hearing. Even just short exposure of second hand smoke to children
can cause lifelong illnesses for them.
Those earlier mentioned things are just the medical reasons for not allowing
smoking in public. Children should not be penalized for the bad decisions of adults.
For instance children may not be able to play sports or outdoor activities if smoking
in public is not completely banned. A lot of baseball fields, play grounds,
Othello as a Tragic Hero Essay
Othello is a tragic hero because of his greatnesses and his weaknesses. He is a
noble man who possesses all the qualities of a military leader, which he is. He has
control over himself and shows courage as well as dignity. Just as Othello is a
virtuous man there are some flaws within him, these flaws complete him ff as a tragic
hero. Othellois often blinded by trust and can not see a person for who they really
are. He trusts the people around him even when they mean to afflict harm upon him.
Through this, it can be seen why Othello is one of the most tragic hero out of all the
characters from Shakespeare s many plays.
To begin with, Othello is a graceful man with a valiant personality which draws
people near. Although he is known... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As an example. this shows how Othello deals with style and grace under fire, when
accused of witchcraft by marrying Desdemona. Othello neither yells nor screams, but
explains in a way that captivates his audience and enhances the emotions in the play.
Aside from the greatnesses there also are some flaws. With Othello being a military
leader for most of his life, trusting another military friend would be common and
therefore Othello had no reason to not trust iago. So it can be said that Othello has
tragic weaknesses, one being too trustworthy. Many times Othello does not see the
evil acts of iago. He is used to dealing with military people on the battlefield, where
you put your life in the hands of others. In this situation trust is very important.
Othello says that iago is a man of honor and trust and therefore has no reason to doubt
his honesty.
Likewise another weakness of Othello s would be that he is a man who gets
confused easily and cannot judge right from wrong. This can be seen when
Do Americans Trust Their Government
Do Americans Trust Their Government?
Could ordinary Americans accomplish a better a job of solving national problems
than government officials? Study polls show that over the course of years the trust
that Americans had in the government has slowly diminished. This change is the
government s fault. Someone doesn t want to install their trust in somebody else who
is not truthful. Americans should not trust government officials because they are not
always truthful, treat citizens like criminals, and they are not doing anything that
truly make America better .
Americans believe that most times the government cannot act correctly to what they
speak. For example, in the presidential debate candidate Donald Trump often claims

they supported my decision. They explained to me how hard it was for them
because they ve never seen me with the hijab, but they also wanted to try it
because it was new to them. My English teacher, Mrs. Fernald overheard us talking
and said: why don t you bring us hijabs tomorrow, we ll wear it with you . I was
really excited and was so happy that I started getting teary simple because I felt
good to know that I wasn t alone. The next day I brought them hijabs and put it on
for them and we took a picture together. That picture still means the world to me. I
started wearing the hijab because I felt like it was the right thing to do, but it was
a hard transition. My friends kept telling me to take it off and kept asking if I was
having a bad hair day. It was hard for me to explain it to them because they kept
asking why now? It was hard to explain it to them in general. That moment showed
me that my hijab wasn t stopping me from doing anything and that people would

Stoichiometry Lab Report
Stoichiometric Reactions with Phosphoric Acid
By Jaime Conklin
Partner: Deanna Ryan
CHE 120 03
Instructor: Mr. Cusumano
September 30, 2015
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the stoichiometric relationship between
reagents and the identity of the products by using three acid/base neutralization
reactions of a triprotic acid, phosphoric acid, and varying molar equivalents of
sodium hydroxide. The data will be used to determine the formula weight of the
products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions.
Introduction
In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular
formula, polyprotic acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles.
Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to
calculating the masses of molecules and their products . The reactants are usually
given and stoichiometry is used to find the products of the equations as well
balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium chloride (NaCl).
Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one atom
of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can
never be changed.

Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the
simplest, small, whole number ratio. The molecular formula can either be the
empirical formula, or a multiple of the empirical
Influence Of The CSI Effect In Crime Scene Investigations
The CSI Effect
The CSI Effect began to fully take effect as the popularity for crime scene
investigation televisions series became popular. One of the more prominent
television series that contributes to the CSI Effect is CSI however there are
several more like Criminal Minds, Bones, or Castle. In 2006 the weekly ratings
taken by Nielsan determined that five of the top 10 television programs [during one
week] were about scientific evidence in criminal cases. Together, they amassed more
than 100 million viewers (Shelton, 2008). This fact emphasizes just how popular
crime television is but more important what this fact shows is that more than 100
million people can be affected by the CSI Effect. The term CSI Effect has become one

There is also the impact on the general public as a whole. For instance, those watch
police investigation dramas on television is generally their only source of
knowledge on how the process works. Individuals take information they already
have, simplify the complexity of an issue, and derive a steadfast conclusion
(Stevens, 2010 pp. 6 7). What this means is that common people look at a problem
and make an instant resolution or in other words, make a prediction without knowing
all the evidence or going through the deductive process. Individuals see the repetition
in the dramas leading them to assume what is going to happen. The thoughts of these
individuals are the ultimate building blocks to the CSI Effect. What is has
ultimately come down to is that the public has views shows that have hypothetically
solved real life cases before the actual cases have gotten to trial, so some jurors
believe they have gained insight from the media s amateur sleuthing (Ramsland,

The Malaysian Constitution
In a democractic parliament, rules were set and governed regardless of any
country in the world. Malaysia itself is also governed by a a set of rules. The rules
assigned to a country is called the constituition. Also called the bill of rights, the
constituition of rights is a body of basic principles a state is to be governed with.
The Malayan Union first drafted the constitution in 1946 but it was opposed by the
indigenous Malay community so it was cancelled. The current Malaysian
Constitution was drafted instead on the basis of a report from the Reid Commission

To What Extent Was The Civil War Unavoidable
I believe the Civil War was unavoidable because even if slavery wasn t wanted to be
banned then, other wanted changes in America s society would have triggered the
war. The Civil War changed so many different aspects within our own country, these
changes were mostly involved with social issues and rights. The Civil War marked
the beginning of a large reformation period. After the 13th Amendment came out and
slavery was banned, more amendments of change came into view. 14th amendment
was pronounced and gave the right to every citizen born on US soil, gained
citizenship to America. Soon after this, voting was considered a right and African
American men wanted it. This became known as the 15th amendment. All the drama

Industrial Safety Differences in Unmanned Aerial Systems
Industrial Safety Differences in Unmanned Aerial Systems
Although they tend to be smaller than manned aircraft including most small general
aviation types, UAVs are indeed aircraft and all of the industrial safety measures that
apply in other forms of aviation also apply here. At this point it is appropriate to
define a few terms; Remotely Piloted Vehicle/Aircraft (RPV/Aircraft) refers to an
aircraft or vehicle piloted from the ground. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) may be
piloted from the ground or autonomously controlled through a software program.
Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) refers to the combination of unmanned vehicle and
all control, sensor, payload and maintenance elements necessary for mission
accomplishment.
Currently the majority of the UAVs operated by the United States are military assets,
and as such are subject to policies, requirements and regulations of the military. These
safety requirements will be briefly discussed. As unmanned systems are integrated
into national airspace they will be operated in increasing numbers by civil
operators, for this reason we will also look at civil safety requirements. UAS will
also present some unique situations which have up to this point not been
experienced; this will require new areas to be incorporated into the aviation industrial
safety arena to ensure our current level of safety is not degraded through their
inclusion. This paper will investigate aviation industrial safety as it applies
specifically to
Pygmalion My Fair Lady Essay
Pygmalion amp; My Fair Lady
The play Pygmalion and My Fair Lady, the musical, are the same story. The only
major difference between the two, is that My Fair Lady has songs added to the
dialogue. I believe the musical version is more enjoyable because the music adds
more feeling to the story.
The opening scene is after an opera. The higher class people spill out into the streets.
It is here that Eliza is selling her flowers. Eliza is a poor girl with a very thick
accent. She is a respectable girl, which she insist throughout the movie, saying to

After long, excruciating lessons, Eliza starts to get it and begins to talk in perfect
English. Now, its time to try her newly learned skills. In the play, Higgins takes her
to his mother s house, while in the musical he takes her to the Ascot Races. Here
they learn that she may speak perfectly, but she still can revert to her flower girl
ways. This is where Freddy Eynsford Hills falls in love with Eliza. Eliza s father is
forced into Middle Class after he inherits a large sum of money.
Mr. Higgins work on Eliza is finally put to the test at the ball. She was so charming
that the Prince asked her to a dance. A Hungarian linguistics professor, who Higgins

most of the night, Higgins offers Eliza to dance with him. He thinks that Eliza is
Hungarian because she speaks English so well.
Professor Higgins won the bet. After they get home, Colonel Pickering and Higgins
congratulate each other without a single thank you to Eliza. Eliza becomes furious
and leaves the house to meet Freddy outside. She goes back to where she used to

Speech On Flyboarding
At first I thought it was the abundant utilization of alcohol and daylight. There we
were, one hot evening the previous summer, on a vessel amidst Lake Mead,
watching somebody suspend over the water on a board fastened to a Jet Ski, two
considerable surges of water impacting from underneath the rider s feet. Iron Man?
No, simply some fella attempting to keep his parity. This provoked heaps of whoas,
picture taking and Instagram posting, and gathering Googling to take in more about
the marvelousness we were seeing.
Flyboarding is only one of a modest bunch of hydroflight items that are the most

The Development And Growth Of A Child Into Their Adult
Years
Throughout the decades, there have been many theorists that have contributed their
ideas and proposals, in regards to what they believe affects the development and
growth of a child into their adult years. Three of these successful theorists include:
Erik Erikson, Daniel Levinson, and George Herbert Mead. They each studied the
developmental stages throughout one s life in their own perspectives, each proposing
a new and revised theory.
Born in 1902, Erik Erikson was a psychologist best known for his study and theory
of psychosocial development and the concept of the identity crisis. He has published
a number of books on his theories and research, including Childhood and Society, The
Life Cycle Completed, and Gandhi s Truth. As a student... Show more content on

Mistrust . Therefore, depending on how the child is raised and treated throughout this
stage, determines whether the child learns to trust the world and his surroundings to
fulfill his needs. Erikson believed that although there are different challenges the
individual must successfully master at each stage, these issues overlap with the issues
of another level. This is because how one deals with the earlier challenges determines
how one will resolve later challenges, as there is a connection between present
patterns of thinking and feeling, and the earlier unresolved and/or resolved
development issues. Going back to the example with the child, if he/she does not
learn to trust in this stage, then trust will remain an unresolved issue throughout the
subsequent stages of development.
Erikson s theory is extremely important and significant in terms of understanding
the growth and development of an individual. His theory helps to explain the levels
of conflict that every individual must undergo, and the possibilities that may arise if
the individual in unsuccessful and does not overcome the challenges that he/she is
faced with. As stated in the example above, if the child did not learn to trust in the
first stage, it will affect him in all the following stages, as he/she will continue to
have a lack of trust in the world. Erikson s theory helps us to understand why some
people lack certain feelings or emotions, as we can now recognize that the

Semiotic Analysis of Teenage Magazine Front Covers
SiГўn Davies
In this essay I will hope to analyse the semiotic codes of the front covers of teenage
magazines to demonstrate how the media constructs the image and behavioural
ideology of the teenage girl. I will analyse issue 359 of More! (December 27 th
2001 January 8th 2002) and compare it with the January 2002 edition of 19. I have
chosen these specific texts as they are popular mainstream magazines that are
available in most newsagents, and therefore arguably represent to the reader what
constitutes the modern teenage girl. These are also the most recent issues available
for analysis and therefore demonstrate an up to date representation of constructed
femininity in our media and society.
Jonathan Bignell (1997) argues that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These assumptions pervade the contents of mainstream teenage magazines, with
features such as Position of the Fortnight and Celebrity Hair Special frequently
appearing within the pages. This is the reader to whom most teenage magazines
cater they broadcast to a stereotypical mass (which is arguably an artificial
representation and does not reflect the identities and lives of all teenage girls). In
order to analyse the image and behavioural ideology of the teenage girl offered
within teenage magazines, I will attempt to investigate some semiotic codes within
More! and 19.
The front cover is an important aspect of the magazine as it initially attracts the reader
and is a taster of what can be seen within the contents of the magazine. It is an
important advertisement and serves to label its possessor (McLoughlin 2000: 5).
This is certainly a factor that influences the purchasing behaviours of young
teenage girls who attempt to appear more mature and more sexually
knowledgeable by buying a magazine aimed at girls 4 or 5 years their senior. The
front cover will also promise that the contents of the magazine... will fulfil the
needs of the individual and her group and sells a future image of the reader as
happier, more desirable (Bignell 1997: 67). By merely looking at the front cover of a
magazine therefore, a potential reader will be able
Quiet Majority
The Worries of a Quiet Majority. (Persuasive Essay Final Draft)
As I walk closer to someone I wish to speak to, the feeling of dread increases at the
same rate as my approach. I start planning exactly what I want to say, with the
knowledge that my words will not come out that way at all. Having reached what
is considered the appropriate distance for conversing, I mentally look over my
words one more time before sending them along. As my fear mounts I draw a
breath, let it out, and proceed to breathe again. I tell myself to stop stalling and as
the words rise up, they stop at my throat. I silently yell at myself to get on with it
as sweat starts to break out. The words are in my mouth now, but my mouth does
not move. I scream, internally, to just say it, say it, SAY IT! I ask my friend if I
can get a ride home with them, they say, sure thing . On the outside, I am calm and

Is Natural Law the Best Approach to Abortion Essay
Is Natural Law the best approach to abortion
Natural Law says that abortion is wrong because life is a valuable gift from God and
therefore only he can take it away. A believer of the natural law would say that the
unborn foetus should have the same status as a born human being because life starts
at the moment of conception which means that no matter how long the foetus has
been growing, abortion is murder. This point ties in with the right to life and other
religious approaches. Under Natural Law, abortion is the stealing of innocent life
going against one of the Primary precepts. Abortion undermines the Primary precept
which encourages society to reproduce and grown. All these objections come down to
one point. Man s ultimate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This approach is strong as it s flexible; each situation can be measured using the
Hedonic Calculus. The mother can reach a decision by herself, she becomes
independent. But it also takes into account the fathers feelings, other family
members etc it looks at the family situation a baby would be born into. However,
you also don t know what the outcome of a situation will be. E.g. A woman may
choose to have an abortion because she has too many children and knows it would
affect them. After having an abortion she may become depressed and will be in no
better state to look after them.
Kant was a deontological thinker and according to his theory of the Categorical
Imperative, one must find a maxim in respect to abortion which they could
universalize in order to discover what to do when faced with unwanted pregnancy. He
doesn t tackle this problem but he could have argued that abortion is immoral in all
circumstances as he strongly believed that human life was of infinite value and that
it should be protected. Furthermore, he also believed that one of the universal laws
was do not murder. Having an abortion would break this universal law and end a
valuable life. However, he might also have argued that all people should have the
right to determine what happens to their own body. In this case, a universal maxim
might permit abortion on the
Advantages And Disadvantages Of A Single Leaf Swing

Door plays an important area for the building as it allow access and egress from
buildings and between rooms, compartments and corridors. The two examples can
be found in block 34 which is the single hung single leaf swing door and the
automatic sliding door at the library, refer to figure 7.1 and 7.2 of the picture in
appendices respectively.
The single hung single leaf swing door that is located at block 34 of Ngee Ann

single hung single leaf swing door is the most commonly used between rooms and
corridors. The advantages of having a single swing door is that they are very
strong and stable, making it easier for maintenance. In addition they have weather
proof qualities which allows it to possess an anti rust quality. However, the short
back of having a single hung single leaf swing wall are it is inflexible as compared
to a double swing door, as it can only be open from one way. It also cause
inconvenient to the users as they have to open the door manually. Although it is

Expository Essays Sample. Expository essay

  • 1. Expository Essays Sample Crafting an essay on the subject of "Expository Essays Sample" can prove to be a challenging endeavor. The difficulty lies not in the complexity of the topic itself, but rather in the intricate balance required to present informative content in a clear and engaging manner. Expository essays demand a thorough understanding of the chosen subject, as well as the ability to convey that knowledge to the audience in a structured and coherent way. One of the primary challenges is to avoid veering into a persuasive or argumentative tone, as the essence of expository writing lies in providing an unbiased and objective analysis of the topic. Striking the right balance between information and readability poses another hurdle. It requires a skillful blend of facts, examples, and explanations without overwhelming the reader with an information overload. Additionally, crafting a compelling introduction and a satisfying conclusion can be daunting. The introduction must capture the reader's attention, outline the purpose of the essay, and establish a clear thesis statement. Meanwhile, the conclusion should summarize the key points, leaving a lasting impression without introducing new information. Furthermore, maintaining a logical flow and coherence throughout the essay is crucial. Transitioning smoothly between ideas, ensuring each paragraph contributes to the overall argument, and avoiding repetition are constant challenges. Balancing depth and breadth in the content adds an extra layer of complexity, as the essay should delve into the topic sufficiently without becoming too lengthy or overly detailed. In conclusion, while the topic "Expository Essays Sample" may seem straightforward, the process of creating a well-crafted essay involves navigating a maze of challenges. It demands a nuanced understanding of the subject, adept organization of information, and skillful writing. For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that similar essays and more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, providing a valuable resource for those looking to overcome the hurdles of expository essay writing. Throughout the movie Bateman seems to be losing control of his urges and begins to see things that might not be there. The movie ends leaving a doubt in our minds if Bateman was really a serial killer or was all the agony and pain all made up in his mind. In the movie Patrick Bateman displays signs of antisocial personality disorder which isn t very common. A total of three percent of men have it and one percent of women. There are many symptoms that come along with the disorder, Being very aggressive to others physically and verbally, being irresponsible, uncontrollable lying and also a lack of remorse for actions that were done. • 3. Why Is Ma Rainey Important Gertrude Ma Rainey is a pivotal figure in the history of American music. She was the first person to ever perform blues and the first internationally known African American female blues singer. Her music acted as inspiration for many distinguished figures during the Harlem Renaissance, and continues to influence contemporary music and art. A single source of blues music cannot be traced, but Ma Rainey is rightfully credited with introducing it to the world. Hence the reason she was dubbed as The Mother of the Blues . During an interview in the 1930s, Ma told musicologist John Work, that she heard what would be called blues, for the first time around 1902. She was in a small town in Missouri working a show at the time, and one morning a local girl came into the tent singing about a man whom had left her. This new style of soulful music drew in Ma Rainey so much she later had the girl teach her the song. Rainey performed the song as an encore in a show soon after, earning a special place in the show, and marking the start of her career (Jas Obrecht Archive). Gertrude Pridgett was born in 1986 to tent performers Thomas Pridgett Sr. and Ella Allen Pridgett. Both were said to had traveled around the south performing minstrel shows, which was the most popular form of live comedy entertainment from 1840 to the early nineteenth century (Biography.com). Because of her parents involvement, Gertrude had always been surrounded by show business and always had a love for singing and

1 Like all works of art. the portrait is a system of signs; it is often an ideogram of public meanings condensed into the image of a human face. Roman portrait sculpture from the Republic through the late Empire the second century BCE. to the sixth CE constitutes what is surely the most remarkable body of portrait art ever created. Its shifting montage of abstractions from human appearance and character forms a language in which the history of a whole society can be read. Beginning in the first century B.C., Roman artists invented a new kind of portraiture, as unlike that of the great tradition of Greek... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The emphasis accorded these contingencies of physiognomy and the resolute refusal of any concession to our or, so it would appear, antiquity s ideas of desirable physical appearance lead one easily to the conclusion that those portraits are uncompromising attempts to transcribe into plastic form the reality of what is seen, innocent of any idealization or programmatic bias. These are the portraits of the conservative nobility (and of their middle class emulators) (luring the death agonies of the Roman republic. There is no need to doubt that much of their character refers to quite real qualities of their subjects. These are men in later life because the carefully prescribed ladder of public office normally allowed those who followed it to attain only gradually and after many years to such eminence as would allow the signal honor of a public statue. One may well suppose that these hard bitten and rather unimaginative faces closely reflect the prevailing temperament of the class and society to which they belong, and the twisted and
  • 5. Evaluation Of A Hydration Intervention Among Outdoor... Abstract Currently, in the absence of federal regulations for the prevention of heat related illness in the workplace, employers are encouraged to develop plans that include hydration, training, acclimatization periods for new employees, and alternating work patterns. Although these methods are documented to prevent or reduce the likelihood of a heat casualty event, they are less likely to consider truly adequate hydration behaviors. Additionally, much of the data that exists on human hydration status has focused on hospitalized, institutionalized or professional athletes. There is a knowledge gap regarding hydration perceptions and status in healthy, outdoor workers, and quantifying the increased risk of heat related illnesses. This study ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although consistent implementation of these methods in conjunction with one another is documented to prevent or reduce the likelihood of a heat casualty event, typically management of outdoor construction environments focuses on using informal techniques to monitor environmental heat indices and providing access to fluids, but is less likely to consider actual quantification and evaluation of adequate hydration behavior of affected employees 1 3,8,17,18. For this research to practice project, evaluating construction employee hydration in relationship to environmental factors, task effort, hydration technology interventions, training programs, and personal characteristics will be a novel approach to assessing intervention effectiveness. The outcome will provide management guidance on how to most effectively pre plan for HRI prevention resulting in reduced risk and increased productivity. In 1986, NIOSH estimated that 5 10 million American workers were to be considered at risk for HRI for at least part of the year10. However, the most recent Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report concluded that increases in the frequency and magnitude of temperature extremes will occur with almost 100% probability throughout the 21st century, and that heat waves will also increase in frequency and severity7. The recent years of record breaking
  • 6. Advertisement Advertisements For Women s Advertising KEEP IT REAL JUST FOR ONCE Nowadays, companies spend billions of dollars in search of customers for the companies products. As a result, the necessity of target advertising can t be underestimated. After all, women had no reason to purchase a $50000 necklace until Pandora proposed the tagline, your jewelry isn t just jewelry, in its latest advertisement in Cosmopolitan Magazine (Pandora. Cosmopolitan). In that regard, modern advertisements paint a stereotypical image of an ideal woman as the classy being, appareled in artificial, perhaps fake, beauty. If it s not the glossy pink or red lips, then it ll either be the artificial eye lashes, the dyed hair, or sexy stare that hangs on the pages of magazines and postal on bill boards. While advertisements attempt to convince us that all women are supposed to look pretty, be looked at and be seductive, in reality, this is unwarranted. As careful analysis of three ads targeting at women in Advertisement Cosmopolitan 2015 indicate, advertisements , in attempt to catch patrons , have besmirched the ideologies about women s prototype by stereotypically exaggerating the relevance of physical beauty in them. Moreover, such unfair portrayer is proven, on several bases, to be detrimental in the long run. One of the most common unfair messages conveyed in women oriented ads is that the physical appearance of women is all that matters. This proposes that without applying makeups, dying
  • 7. Why I Am A Cold Bowl Of Mac And Cheese As I sat down to eat the cold bowl of Mac and Cheese that I had brought with me, my emotions boiled over as a horror which I wish upon no one came forth. Infuriated, my rage took control of me as I jumped out of my chair, forcibly tossing the only source of food I had disposable to me in the garbage. This climatic moment was initiated upon my discovery that there was a broken microwave in the Sawyer lounge and Suffolk Universityhad yet to replace it. Yes, it seems trivial, even downright ridiculous to get that pent up over a defunct microwave, but look at the scenario from my perspective. Imagine getting up at six in the morning for a nine A.M. class, anxious about all your assignments coming up, and having your last class finish at five forty five P.M. I had wondered how many other commuter students had to suffer the same fate as I had to that day. All you want is a warm energizing meal, but the broken microwave prevents you from obtaining it. See, what the incident stated above did is affirm my notion that Suffolk is not accommodating to its commuter students. Historically, Suffolk University was a commuter school. However, since 1996, Suffolk has opened four residence halls, the most recent being The Modern Theater Residence Hall, which opened in 2010. (Suffolk University) This has resulted in a shift in the school that saw 66.9% of the admitted freshmen class of 2015 live in the residence halls (Applications at el). Conversely, as the University has shifted towards the
  • 8. Sentencing Of Sentencing And Sentencing Guidelines Sentencing is a complicated, and sometimes extremely harsh set of rules. It has very deterrence, and retribution based set of rules for the most part. Which is indicative of the society we as americans live in. Through this paper i will explain each type of sentencing guideline. They are Intermediate, Determinate, Mandatory, Concurrent, and consecutive. Also we will talk about how in some states mandatory guidelines actually can lower the total prisonpopulation. But how in states that are not resource drive, incapacitationis on the rise. Finally i will convey my thoughts on sentencing. How it is a flawed and ,mostly broken system. Sentencing types: The text describes the five main types of sentencing. The first of which is intermediate sentencing. This type of sentencing is considered to be more in tune with rehabilitation than other sentencing. This is because the sentence a person serves is not simply based on how many years a person serves. The book gives a great example to help clarify, the person shall not be imprisoned for less than 2 or 3 years to 10 years (Stohr 73). What this means is that the person does not necessarily have to serve the maximum of ten years. With good behavior, and by showing that they have changed they may be released in as little as 2 years. Next there determinate sentencing. This essentially serve as the opposite of indeterminate. Meaning that the prisoner must serve a fixed number of years before release. In the

The timing of the letter is significant because the country is at war for freedom and equality. In her letter Abigail pleas with her husband for women s equality. Abigail s purpose for writing to John regarding women s equality is so that he will think of women as they adopt new laws. Throughout the letter Abigail uses different points of view, word choice, and varying tones to persuade her husband to see the need for laws that are considerate of women. Abigail Adamsis making a plea for equality for women and for herself. This can be seen when she uses the points of view you, I, your, ours and us at different points in her letter. Abigail changes her point of view again, this time for a larger purpose. Why then, not put it out of the power of the vicious and the Lawless to use us with cruelty and indignity and impunity (24). Abigail s use of the word us shows she is no longer posing her argument from a personal stance, but to include all

In R v Perry, it was decided that the justice system s credibility and effectiveness mattered more than the information provided, hence the Court of Appeal decided that the admission was to be excluded due to the breach of the right to silence. Once that right is exercised, then the police must respect it. On the other hand, R v Wichman had a different finding. This case involved a father violently assaulting his daughter, which inevitably led to her death. The Supreme Court decided that the evidence would be admissible. The evidence in this case was obtained through an undercover operation, where Wichman was invited to join a criminal organisation that was run by undercover officers. The question of what is good music, is an intriguing one because the answer to this question varies from culture to culture. Even within a culture, the musical preferences change based on the individual. For this What is good musicproject, I chose the song Sour Patch Kids, by Bryce Vine, because this song exemplifies a few things that I look for when determining good music. This song features an upbeat rhythm, and the lyrics compliment the beat. The entire song is supposed to deliver a nostalgic feel to the listener. Throughout the song, He incorporates popular themes from his childhood into the lyrics, and the music video features these themes throughout. For me, I think the nostalgic theme works well with this song. It provides a happy, carefree feeling to the listener. When I listen to this song, it personally brings back feeling and memories from the summer I was shown it. Because of this, I believe the nostalgic theme of the song is a good fit. Another reason this is good music is because of the lyrics. These lyrics break away from the typical stereotype that is expected from rap/hip hop music. It seems that recently, few popular songs have lyrics with meaning. Most feature lyrics that will appeal to the masses to sell the most records. This is where Bryce Vine differentiates himself from these artists. His lyrics share stories and experiences from his life, and are very personalized for the listener. I recently went to one of his concerts he had in East Lansing, and when he performed Sour Patch Kids, the entire crowd was singing along, and was brought together. This experience exemplifies what Bryce Vine s music is all about; connecting people and delivering quality

In Alfred Hitchcock s, Rear Window voyeurism is a major theme conveyed throughout the movie. J.B. Jefferies, Lisa, and Stella prove that human fascination with voyeurism is not only addicting, but over time becomes contagious and emotionally detrimental. In the beginning of the movie the audience is introduced to the main character, J.B. Jeffries. After an injury at work, Jefferies is stuck in his apartment with little to do. This is when the idea of voyeurism is first seen in the movie. According to Google Books, voyeurism is the observation of another person doing a private act. J.B. spends his time looking out his window doing just that. He peers into his neighbors apartments and watches as they live their everyday lives. He thinks he has each of his neighbors figured out just by watching them through their windows. By the middle of the movie Jefferies becomes so addicted to being a voyeur that he feels the need to be closer. He therefore achieves this need by using his camera lens and telescope to look closer into the other rooms. When this addiction of Jefferies first starts off, both Stella, his nurse, and Lisa, his girlfriend, did not approve. Lisa and Stella find it extremely odd of Jeffries to have become so hooked to being a voyeur that he needs to stay up late into the night just to watch his neighbors lives unfold. By the end of

This illegal activity, common since the first merchant vessels sailed the seas many centuries ago, has been a problem that civilization has yet to resolve. They understand that their skiffs and small weapons are no real match against the manpower, firepower, and endurance of a naval vessel. At the same time, these criminals also understand that anti piracy navy operations are expensive and cannot cover the entire Gulf of Aden. Once pirates get control of a ship, it is very unusual for naval forces to be able to intervene successfully; the risks to the ship s crew are too high says Hughes (2013, para. 10). With this in mind, shipping companies approached this problem with a hands on strategy. To put it differently, naval patrols off the coast of Somalia have not been as effective against piracy as expected. Consequently, the maritime shipping industry turned to the private security industry for a solution. As a result, most ships that transit piracy hot spots like the Gulf of Aden have armed security teams on board, much like mercenaries. According to Rix (as cited in Tide turns against pirates, 2013), ships provided with an armed security detail have never been successfully hijacked. The fight is always short when pirates attack armed cargo ships. In the vast majority of cases, the commandos onboard repel pirate attacks without major difficulties due to their higher ground position, tactical training, and better weapons. A simple show of force or an occasional warning shot is normally enough for pirates to back down. In essence, taking the fight

I feel that one small change in each person can change the world for the better and in the event that would occur we would be a happier more advanced world and it all starts with one person making a small step i would be ecstatic to see what would happen if that would come because at the end of the day we all have weak areas in our life that need improvement and it doesn t mean we all have to be the same it just means that we all improve in a small aspect of life. Also i think that the first step in improving is not only realizing that you have weak areas but it also comes from learning from our mistakes and building and growing on them first but of course you first have to admit and realize you re weak suits. The importance of solid communication skills is that it

  • 33. Meaning Of Psalm 139 SIM #7 Psalm 139 Genre: The genre of Psalm 139 is Hebrew poetry, simply because the psalms were written in Hebrew and are a collection of poems and laments. The first principle of interoperation is that the psalms blend experience, emotion, and theology. This should be taken into account while reading the poem in order that the reader does not simply skip over the theology by only focusing on experience and emotion. The second interoperation principle is that each psalm should be read as a whole. Verses of psalmsshould not be taken out of context, in doing this the reader may distort the meaning of the psalm. Another interpretation principle to take into consideration is the different genres of psalms such as: laments, thanksgiving, hymns of praise, wisdom, and songs of trust. With that being said, Psalm 139 not only falls under the Hebrew poetrygenre, but is also classified as a psalm of trust. Lastly, the fourth interpretation principle is that parallelisms are used. In other words, ideas correlate in many different ways such as: synonymously, antithesis, intensifying, specifying, and synthetically. Grammatical/Literacy: Why does David specify that God will hold him with his right hand? What is the depths and does this refer to hell? Historical/Cultural: Are concerning and precious interchangeable in Hebrew (During this time period)? I agree that it is unjust for smokers not to be allowed to smoke where they choose, but it is even more unreasonable for non smokers to be subjected to breathing in the exhaled smoke form someone else(passive smoking). Not to mention second hand smoke is actually worse for someone than smoking itself. Along with the dangers second hand smoke presents to the adults, think about what it does not only to your children but other children around you. Smokers may argue that non smokers can just as easily walk away as a smoker... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Second hand smoke increases a person s chances of getting coronary disease by up to thirty percent. Second hand smoke also raises the chances of lung and other types of cancer. Each year there are approximately 53,000 deaths from lung cancer and respiratory problems and 25,000 of them are from non smokers. Although that is a long term issue, there are more issues that present themselves instantly. Itchy eyes, runny nose, coughing, hives, and excessive phlegm are just a few. As parents, it is our job to protect our children and that includes the unseen dangers of second hand smoke. Some of the dangers to children include asthma, lower respiratory illness, middle ear infections, reduced lung growth or sudden infant death syndrome. When children are developing, and are subjected to passive smoking (second hand smoke), their lung and brain function can be stunted. Middle ear infections can be painful to children and if left untreated can cause permanent damage to their hearing. Even just short exposure of second hand smoke to children can cause lifelong illnesses for them. Those earlier mentioned things are just the medical reasons for not allowing smoking in public. Children should not be penalized for the bad decisions of adults. For instance children may not be able to play sports or outdoor activities if smoking in public is not completely banned. Stoichiometry Lab Report Stoichiometric Reactions with Phosphoric Acid By Jaime Conklin Partner: Deanna Ryan CHE 120 03 Instructor: Mr. Cusumano September 30, 2015 Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to examine the stoichiometric relationship between reagents and the identity of the products by using three acid/base neutralization reactions of a triprotic acid, phosphoric acid, and varying molar equivalents of sodium hydroxide. The data will be used to determine the formula weight of the products and identify the remaining salt for all three reactions. Introduction In this experiment, we learned about stoichiometry, empirical formula, molecular formula, polyprotic acids and bases, metathesis reactions, and moles. Stoichiometry is a very important part of chemistry. Stoichiometry refers to calculating the masses of molecules and their products . The reactants are usually given and stoichiometry is used to find the products of the equations as well balancing the equation. An example of this would be sodium chloride (NaCl). Stoichiometry will say that if there are ten thousand atoms of sodium and one atom of chlorine, only one molecule of sodium chloride can be made and that fact can never be changed. Ex: 10,000Na + 1Cl в†’ NaCl + 9,999Na Empirical formulas represent the ratio of atoms in a formula. It is expressed in the simplest, small, whole number ratio. The molecular formula can either be the empirical formula, or a multiple of the empirical

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) may be piloted from the ground or autonomously controlled through a software program. Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) refers to the combination of unmanned vehicle and all control, sensor, payload and maintenance elements necessary for mission accomplishment. As unmanned systems are integrated into national airspace they will be operated in increasing numbers by civil operators, for this reason we will also look at civil safety requirements. UAS will also present some unique situations which have up to this point not been experienced; this will require new areas to be incorporated into the aviation industrial safety arena to ensure our current level of safety is not degraded through their inclusion. This paper will investigate aviation industrial safety as it applies specifically to

The Development And Growth Of A Child Into Their Adult Years Throughout the decades, there have been many theorists that have contributed their ideas and proposals, in regards to what they believe affects the development and growth of a child into their adult years. Three of these successful theorists include: Erik Erikson, Daniel Levinson, and George Herbert Mead. They each studied the developmental stages throughout one s life in their own perspectives, each proposing a new and revised theory. Born in 1902, Erik Erikson was a psychologist best known for his study and theory of psychosocial development and the concept of the identity crisis. He has published a number of books on his theories and research, including Childhood and Society, The Life Cycle Completed, and Gandhi s Truth. As a student... Therefore, depending on how the child is raised and treated throughout this stage, determines whether the child learns to trust the world and his surroundings to fulfill his needs. Erikson believed that although there are different challenges the individual must successfully master at each stage, these issues overlap with the issues of another level. This is because how one deals with the earlier challenges determines how one will resolve later challenges, as there is a connection between present patterns of thinking and feeling, and the earlier unresolved and/or resolved development issues. Going back to the example with the child, if he/she does not learn to trust in this stage, then trust will remain an unresolved issue throughout the subsequent stages of development. Erikson s theory is extremely important and significant in terms of understanding the growth and development of an individual. His theory helps to explain the levels of conflict that every individual must undergo, and the possibilities that may arise if the individual in unsuccessful and does not overcome the challenges that he/she is faced with. As stated in the example above, if the child did not learn to trust in the first stage, it will affect him in all the following stages, as he/she will continue to have a lack of trust in the world. Erikson s theory helps us to understand why some people lack certain feelings or emotions, as we can now recognize that the

  • 52. Semiotic Analysis of Teenage Magazine Front Covers SiГўn Davies In this essay I will hope to analyse the semiotic codes of the front covers of teenage magazines to demonstrate how the media constructs the image and behavioural ideology of the teenage girl. I will analyse issue 359 of More! (December 27 th 2001 January 8th 2002) and compare it with the January 2002 edition of 19. I have chosen these specific texts as they are popular mainstream magazines that are available in most newsagents, and therefore arguably represent to the reader what constitutes the modern teenage girl. These are also the most recent issues available for analysis and therefore demonstrate an up to date representation of constructed femininity in our media and society. Jonathan Bignell (1997) argues that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These assumptions pervade the contents of mainstream teenage magazines, with features such as Position of the Fortnight and Celebrity Hair Special frequently appearing within the pages. This is the reader to whom most teenage magazines cater they broadcast to a stereotypical mass (which is arguably an artificial representation and does not reflect the identities and lives of all teenage girls). In order to analyse the image and behavioural ideology of the teenage girl offered within teenage magazines, I will attempt to investigate some semiotic codes within More! and 19. The front cover is an important aspect of the magazine as it initially attracts the reader and is a taster of what can be seen within the contents of the magazine. It is an important advertisement and serves to label its possessor (McLoughlin 2000: 5). This is certainly a factor that influences the purchasing behaviours of young teenage girls who attempt to appear more mature and more sexually knowledgeable by buying a magazine aimed at girls 4 or 5 years their senior. The front cover will also promise that the contents of the magazine... will fulfil the needs of the individual and her group and sells a future image of the reader as happier, more desirable (Bignell 1997: 67). By merely looking at the front cover of a magazine therefore, a potential reader will be able
  • 53. Quiet Majority The Worries of a Quiet Majority. (Persuasive Essay Final Draft) As I walk closer to someone I wish to speak to, the feeling of dread increases at the same rate as my approach. I start planning exactly what I want to say, with the knowledge that my words will not come out that way at all. Having reached what is considered the appropriate distance for conversing, I mentally look over my words one more time before sending them along. As my fear mounts I draw a breath, let it out, and proceed to breathe again. I tell myself to stop stalling and as the words rise up, they stop at my throat. I silently yell at myself to get on with it as sweat starts to break out. The words are in my mouth now, but my mouth does not move. I scream, internally, to just say it, say it, SAY IT! I ask my friend if I can get a ride home with them, they say, sure thing . On the outside, I am calm and collected; on the inside, my soul collapses into an exhausted puddle. • 54. Is Natural Law the Best Approach to Abortion Essay Is Natural Law the best approach to abortion Natural Law says that abortion is wrong because life is a valuable gift from God and therefore only he can take it away. A believer of the natural law would say that the unborn foetus should have the same status as a born human being because life starts at the moment of conception which means that no matter how long the foetus has been growing, abortion is murder. This point ties in with the right to life and other religious approaches. Under Natural Law, abortion is the stealing of innocent life going against one of the Primary precepts. Abortion undermines the Primary precept which encourages society to reproduce and grown. All these objections come down to one point. Man s ultimate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But it also takes into account the fathers feelings, other family members etc it looks at the family situation a baby would be born into. However, you also don t know what the outcome of a situation will be. E.g. A woman may choose to have an abortion because she has too many children and knows it would affect them. After having an abortion she may become depressed and will be in no better state to look after them. Kant was a deontological thinker and according to his theory of the Categorical Imperative, one must find a maxim in respect to abortion which they could universalize in order to discover what to do when faced with unwanted pregnancy. He doesn t tackle this problem but he could have argued that abortion is immoral in all circumstances as he strongly believed that human life was of infinite value and that it should be protected. Furthermore, he also believed that one of the universal laws was do not murder. Having an abortion would break this universal law and end a valuable life. However, he might also have argued that all people should have the right to determine what happens to their own body. In this case, a universal maxim might permit abortion on the
