Daniel Jordan Research Paper
At the night of August 23, 1997 Daniel Jesus Beltran was born in Hialeah, Florida along with his twin
brother. His parents, Alicia and Jorge named him after Daniel, the heroic figure of the Bible that
survives with the help of God´s angel in a dean of lions. Nevertheless, even though he was born in the
United States, he had a prominent Cuban background from his parents and family. However, three
years later after his birth, Daniel s parents got divorced, but fortunately his parents separation did not
have a harmful impact in his life. Daniel s father moved to a different city and initiate a new family.
As a result, Daniel has also a two years old brother and an eight months sister, but continuously have a

Daniel also describes his childhood as very usual of having friends, playing with his twin brother and
exploring the world. The best memory of Daniel during his childhood was when he received his first
dog. Even though it was just a little pet he got, he never taught he could get one of his own. On the
other side, one of the worst experience in his life was on a thanksgiving dinner at his aunt house when
he was 11 years old. Daniel and his twin were dressed up very nicely for the dinner and playing
around the backyard with a stick. All of a sudden his twin brother push him with the stick and make
him fall into the pool. Therefore, Daniel got all his clothes wet and his mother was very upset and

Elite Society In George Orwell s Animal Farm
In today s world it is quite common for there to be elite societies, whether it is a result from power or
intellect. The formation of an elite society is based on how others respond to others actions. In the
novel, Animal Farm, the elite society of Animal Farm is the result of the actions of both the pigs and
the lower animals as well. The pigs use their superior knowledge to manipulate the lower animals, and
the lower animals do not rebel against the pigs or recognize they are being controlled.
The pigs create an elite society by using their superior knowledge to take advantage of the lower
animals. One example of the pigs creating an elite society is when they announce they can read and
write. The pigs reveal this to the lower animals by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One example of the lower animals allowing the creation of the elite society to occur is when the pigs
eat all of the milk and apples, and are not sharing the food equally between the animals. Squealer
explains to the lower animals why the pigs deserve the milks and apples by saying, Milk and
apples...contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig... [because] the whole
management... of this farm depends on us... [and] it is for your sake that we drink that milk and apples
(23). The lower animals did not rebel against this idea because they agree that the pigs need to be
healthy to run the farm. Squealer also uses fear to control the animals. He mentions to the lower
animals, if [the] pigs failed in [their] duty... Jones would come back (23). The animals believe
Squealer s statement and certainly do not want Jones to return so they do not rebel. Another example
of the lower animals allowing the creation of the society to happen is when Napoleon executes some
of the lower animals. After the execution the thoughts of Clover are, There was no thought of rebellion
or disobedience in [Clover s] mind. She knew that even as things were they were far better off than
they had been in the days of Jones (58 59). The comparison of Napoleon and Jones makes Clover have
faith in Napoleon instead of anger, which allows the pigs to continue their elite

Leadership Theory Of The Myers Briggs Test
Leadership Theory Ugochi I. Onwuegbu Walden University NURS 4020 Section 13, Leadership
Theory October 19, 2014 Leadership Theory Paper According to Sullivan (2013), leadership is
influencing others into working toward accomplishing a common goal (pg. 42). Certain individuals
have natural leadership qualities. Other individuals need to learn leadership skills. It takes a specific
personality type to make a leader. The purpose of this paper is to identify my personality type through
the Myers Briggs test, discuss the leadership style of Gandhi and his similarities to my style in relation
to nursing. Assessment Inventory The Myers Briggs test was developed from Carl Jungs theory of
personality types by Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother Katherine Briggs (Myers, I. B. 2000, pg 6).
In order to determine an individual s type of personality this test was created with specific questions
on how information is processed. This test determines whether and individual directs their energy in
an introverted or extroverted way. Briggs Myers tests our life organization through perception and
judging and also how information is processed through our intuition and sensing. This test is said to
provide a powerful framework for building better relationships, driving positive change, harnessing
innovation, and achieving excellence . (Myers, I. B. 2000, pg 2). Upon taking the test I achieved a

Xia Dynasty History
The largest populated country in the world lies in China, which currently contains over 1 billion
people. China is popularly known for its martial arts, famous landmarks (ex: Great Wall, Terracotta
Warriors, Mount Everest etc.) and for its furry black and white creatures; the great Panda Bear.
However, many people who haven t experienced this culture may not know much of its history and its
ways.
History of the Xia Dynasty: China s long history dates back to almost 5000 years ago and have a
written past of 3000 years. In the 21st century China s first dynasty the Xia Dynasty was the first clan
to set up a government and rule over China. The beginning of the Xia Dynasty started from the

Our family allows generations to live on and new ones to be created. In China many Chinese believe
in the ways of Confucianism who believed that maintaining a healthy lifestyle starts at home.
Confucius a Chinese philosopher and teacher created the 5 relationships: ruler to subject, father to son,
older brother to younger brother, husband to wife, and senior friend to junior friend. This concept was
to show respect in how you act or acted upon to others.
1 Child Policy: During the Han Dynasty when Han was in power, farming was essential to China. So
Han encouraged families to have more children. However, this lead to overpopulation and China was
becoming too populated. In the 1970s a policy was released called the one child policy which limits 1
child per family. If this law was disobeyed the government would suggest abortion or large fees to be
paid, a pretty scary law for some families. This program was to hopefully lower and maintain the
population rate in China. Now in 2016, families can have more

Framework in the Goophered Grapevine Essay
Framework in The Goophered Grapevine
The frame narrative in Charles W. Chesnutt s The Goophered Grapevine creates a hidden tension
between the viewpoints of the internal narrator s voice and the voice of the external narrator. Uncle
Julius McAdoo is Chesnutt s internal narrator, and serves a storyteller in the story. He exemplifies the
characteristics of a former slave such as being uneducated and unable to speak Standard English.
Julius is old, poor, and uneducated. These characteristics set him up as being a person that lacks
credibility. However, early on in the story Julius claims his credibility as a storyteller by saying Day

On the other hand, John had learned that North Carolina was a great state to cultivate grapes, and his
main goal was to move there to cultivate grapes while aiding in the improvement of his wife s health.
He had already observed the condition of the vineyard and was confident that he could restore its
productivity. The conflict of territory is present here.
The incongruity of the internal narrator and the external narrator is the element that sets up the tension
between the two characters. They both interact with each other cordially and respectfully. However,
there is a presence of internal arrogance between the two narrators. John thinks of himself as smarter
than Julius because he (Julius) is old, poor, and uneducated while Julius thinks he can out smart John
because he s younger, wealthier, and lacks knowledge of the area.
Julius is extremely good at storytelling because he yields to his audience and draws his audience in
from the beginning of the story to the end, which is a tool involved in tall tales. Julius is a trickster and
even illustrates his story with the character of a Yankee, who seemingly posses the same shrewdness
as Julius. His illustration of a shrew Yankee also seems to be an indirect insult towards John because
he too is a northerner.
In the frame structure, the two voices operating off each other raise a question of motive between the
two narrators. Julius motive is clearly to mislead John and Annie so that he will

The New President Faces Challenges At The Department Of...
The Life of an Executive Order
The new president faces significant challenges at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Rectifying these short comings is important if the U.S. is to remain secure and prosperous.
On January 27th, 2017, president Trump signed an executive order dealing with immigration. The
order took effect immediately and sparked anger and confusion across the nation. Dozens of
international travelers were detained at airports across the country. Most of those detained were simply
caught up in a government communication limbo. The order placed a temporary moratorium on
immigration from seven countries Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen.

The order had been reviewed by the Justice Department Office of Legal Counsel (OLC) before it was
issued. The OLC, whose authority addresses the form and whether the order is properly drafted,
approved the order. Yates objected to the president s executive order. Yates declared that as long as she
was acting attorney general, the Department of Justice would not present arguments in defense of the
executive order until she became convinced that it was appropriate to do so. Clearly, since Yates did
not issue this statement on the grounds that the order was illegal, she based her decision on her
disagreement with the justice of the order.
Consequently, Yates was fired. This action fortified the legal battle we are debating today. Timeline of
Trumps Order and the Court Filings
Sunday, Jan. 29 Federal lawsuits were filed in New York, Massachusetts, Virginia and Washington on
behalf of travelers who were detained in airports in the United States.
Later Sunday evening, the White House said that legal permanent residents are exempt from the travel
restrictions in the new executive order, referring to green card holders.

The truth is Pat lost his eyesight in an accident 30 years ago. At first he couldn t accept the fact and

Colonialism In Waiting For The Barbarians
Comparative Essay
Colonialism occurs when one nation seeks to extend their authority other the territory of another.
When such process occurs, the foreign ideologies conflicts with the existing ones. The spread of euro
and phallocentric ideas brings intolerance such as othering and sexism. Those with power degrade and
exclude the others to proven their status as superior. Such oppression not only have negative impact on
the victim but also oppressors themselves. In Waiting for the Barbarians by J.M Coetzee and Women
at Point Zero by Nawal El Saadawi, both Coetzee and Nawal reveals the negative impact of
intolerance on both the intolerant and the victims.
In Waiting, Coetzee reveals how both social group have been negatively effected due to intolerance in
two key moments. The first key moment Coetzee presents the negative effect of othering on the
intolerant occurred when the Colonel is torturing barbarians in the public, a little girl was encouraged
to join the torture. As the author describes, She lifts the cane, brings it down smartly on the prisoner s
buttocks, drops it, and scuttles to safety to a roar of applause (116). In this quote through the use of

Article, Observations on the first year of Oregon s Death with Dignity Act written by Lee and Werth,
they explain through the use of data how the Act has helped individuals and how the process works.
The Act allows a mentally competent, terminally ill Oregon adult resident to request, and an Oregon
licensed physician to prescribe, medication that may be used to assist in dying (Lee). Of course an Act
like this was going to cause issues. Immediately after the law passed, a federal District Court agreed to

cancer and it had spread throughout multiple organs and an optimistic prognosis was three months.
She made a request under the Act, but the physician appeared to change the message saying he was
not totally convinced that she was terminally ill, and he ordered further tests. In order to get assisted
death a patient has to be said terminally ill by a physician. She died one month later and her family
was convinced that both the physician and hospital had pursued their own self interest in ordering
costly tests instead of following the patient s wishes. This is one problem they have found with the
Act. However, for the most part the Act has been a success. Ten patients out of the thirty four did use
the medication to end their life. In addition to this several potential violent suicides and homicides
were prevented by the Act. Overall, the Act provides people that are a resident of Oregon with this

What Sets The Successful Companies Apart From The...
PEWAUKEE SCHOOL DISTRICT (PSD). Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Recipient 2013
(Education Category) 1. What sets the successful companies apart from the unsuccessful companies?
Answer: Three main characteristics of the winner have succeeded as a successful company they are: i.
They mainly concentrate on value rather putting their thoughts on long term goals, that means they
always concentrate in reduction of the costs in a strategic context and with a reasonable spotlight on
their core. ii. They misuse opportunities one of a kind to the downturn, which can mean anything from
utilizing misfortune to increase new clients to squeezing forward with advancement. iii. They act
quickly, with a spryness that allows them to keep pace with, or development of, speedy changes in the
business environment. Successful companies always put their eye on the growth of the organization
and they will try to keep the customers as they don t need to lose their valuable customers. So they
will move on from their comfort zones and thrive hard towards their growth in the competitive world.
They always show their commitment towards the innovation that helps in being a part of the
successful company. (Berman, 2009). 2. Are the successful companies more agile in the marketplace?
Answer: Yes, successful companies are agile in the markets because being agile is to making
themselves adaptable, managing, and trying to keep them up to the mark towards the customer s needs
and the technology.

The Tragic Hero Of Sophocles Sophocles
Everyone would like to know what the future holds. Even today amid a weak economy and an
increasingly violent society, the uncertainly of the future drives millions of people to turn to astrology
and fortune telling to find security. The desire to know the future is a deep human emotional need and
has been a part of philosophical and religious thinking since the Ancient Greeks. Sophocles, for
example, emphasized the belief that most people lack insight and that truth only presents itself when it
collides with ignorance ( Sophocles ). Thus, the gods and their oracles represented the divine order of
the universe where humans were the unwilling subjects. These oracles were used to give advice and
insight to men whose minds were full of fear. This fear contributes to the term Aristotle established as
hamartia. In Aristotle s conception, a tragic hero is a distinguished person occupying a high position,
living in prosperous circumstances, and falling into misfortune because of an error in judgment,
indicating the protagonist s tragic weakness (T. C. W.). Sophocles, through his character Oedipus Rex,
demonstrates how a man can end up a tragic hero even if he is in a state of ignorance. He doesn t
necessarily have to be making his mistakes intentionally. Oedipus downfall was within his own
determination to find out the truth and his irrational reactions to what he heard that ironically brought
disaster upon himself and his family.
This is first example of Oedipus

Long Distance Running Advantages
The Benefits of Long Distance Running
Health professionals and the general public have thoroughly researched and discussed the advantages
and disadvantages of long distance marathon running; the physical and mental benefits make it
apparent that long distance marathon running is overall an activity that supports a healthy lifestyle.
Nathan Critchfield
Mrs. Voigt
Senior Project Research Paper
October 20, 2017
When considering the topic of health benefits and the risks of running long distances the well known
story of the original marathoner Pheidippides is often brought up. The story is often told that
Pheidippides, after running nearly twenty six miles from Marathon to Athens to declare that the
Athenians had won the Battle of Marathon, fell dead from exhaustion. This version of the first
marathon often casts a negative light on the health benefits of running. However, this is not the full
story. The real story involves Pheidippides traveling one hundred forty miles in an attempt to recruit
the Spartans to aid the Athenians in their upcoming battle; then running again the return trip to report
to the Athenians that aid would not be coming before the Persians arrived to battle. Finally, he ran the
twenty six miles to Athens to report the Athenian victory. That is when he finally collapsed from
wounds and exhaustion. From this tragedy, we see that at some point distance running can be harmful
or even fatal. The real question is, have marathons reached

Questions On The Novel The Great Gatsby By F. Scott...
1. Identify the protagonist, and define the kinds of conflict that make up the plot.
The protagonist of the story is the narrator, and the story is written in first person. The narrator is a
lawyer who has his own business and has hired four clerks, the last being Bartleby. The narrator seems
to be indecisive, and he is a pushover when it comes to Bartleby because of something in Bartleby s
demeanor that hooks him. The reader sees events unfold through the narrator, and he becomes the
most personable character throughout the story.
2. Characterize the staff at the Wall Street office before the arrival of Bartleby. How are they comic?
Why does the lawyer not replace them?

Are there any verifiable reasons for his behavior? Is he a developing character (give examples to show
that he is or is not)?
Bartleby is a static character because although initially he is a studious copyist who does his job
diligently and produces lengthy, completed copies, at that time, he is still passive and prefers not to do
the tasks the lawyer asks. When Bartleby tells the lawyer he had permanently given up copying,
indicating an epiphany and change of mind, it does not change who is as a character because he still is
passive and refuses to talk much or explain himself. In the beginning, when the lawyer requests that
Bartleby examine a small paper, he responds with, I would prefer not to. In the middle of the story,
when the lawyer asks Bartleby to leave the premises or make himself useful, Bartleby again responds
with, I would prefer not to quit you, still displaying his passivity. Finally, this passivity leads to his
death as he refuses to eat at the prison even though the grub man shows him a special preference. 4.
How does the lawyer feel about Bartleby at the various stages of his story? Are his feelings clear to
him? How do you feel about Bartleby as the story develops? Can you say for certain why he does
what he does (or does not do what he does not)?
The lawyer changes his opinions on Bartleby as the story develops, never coming to a definitive
decision. Initially, the narrator

A Narrative Essay On A Fair
What should we get on first when we get there? asked Becky. I don t know. How about we get on the

fair. They were so excited to finally be able to go to the fair since last year they had to shut it down

was because someone died. Yes, that s exactly the reason it shut down, how did you not know that?
Becky said. FInally they arrived at the fair and got out of the car. Don t forget you guys have about 6

The prescription filling process of the health maintenance organization (HMO) consists of the doctor
sending the prescription to the pharmacy via paper with the patient, paper to the nurse who calls in the
prescription with instructions, or faxing the prescription to the pharmacy. From there, the personnel at
the pharmacy fill the prescription by inputting the information given to them into their computer in
order to print the instructions and medication labels for the prescriptions. They then pull the requested
medications per the instructions, fill the necessary containers to give to the patients, and label ... Show

Handwriting has always been, and will remain, a problem in medicine. A 1979 study showed that it
was difficult to interpret about half of all physicians handwritten orders. Little has changed since then,
(In the long run, penmanship classes for doctors won t do much for patient safety, 2001). This has
been an ongoing problem since inception. Therefore, the beginning of the process should be changed
in this day and age of technology to have prescriptions entered into computers and handheld devices
by the doctor, to ensure accuracy of the medication that is needed to be filled, and electronically sent
to the pharmacy. Having a nurse call in prescriptions is a non value added activity that can be
eliminated. This may be expensive at the start to implement, but in the long term, it will save both
organizations time, help reduce errors, and add value to the level of service the organization gives.
With this change, label errors should also be reduced as well, ensuring the patient receives the correct
medicine and dosage.
After implementing the technological advancements, the pharmacy will be required to keep a log of
all medications brought back or called saying that they are the wrong medicine. These logs will be
collected monthly to measure the amount of prescriptions filled wrong to determine if the changes are
working.

The Judicial Arms Of The Eu
The Court of Justice of the European Union and the General Court are the judicial arms of the EU .
Critically analyse with reference to the function, personnel and procedures of these two EU courts.
Since the UK joined the EU in 1973 under Edward Heath the UK legal system has been inferior to the
EU legal system. The EU s main judicial arms are the Court of the Justice of the European Union
(CJEU) which was established under the European Coal and Steel Community Treaty (1951) and the
General Court (GC) which was established in 1986. The General Court was originally referred to as
the Court of First Instance however has since been renamed under the Lisbon Treaty (2009) as the GC
in which cases can be appealed to the CJEU but only on points of law. The EU is only able to legislate
on areas where it is empowered to by treaties for example on areas such as trade, competition, single
market legislation, agriculture and justice.
The CJEU is the highest court in the EU. It is comprised of one judge from each member state and is
supported by eight Advocate Generals whose role it is to provide an impartial and public opinion on
the case brought before the CJEU. The primary function of the CJEU is to ensure that the
interpretation and application of the EU law established by treaties is observed (Treaty of Rome:
1958). This is a necessity as the homogenous responsibility of the EU needs to be maintained as to
insure community relationships between member states. The GC is a branch

Not the most surprising answer to hear, but it s true about how Julius was able to established his

Human Drug For Treating Bacterial Infections
β lactam antibiotics have continued to be the most popular drug for treating bacterial infections since
its discovery in 1928 by Fleming and its introduction as an antibacterial agent in the early 1950.1
Most commonly used β lactam drugs today stems from the original discovery and development of
natural products from microorganisms like penicillin, cephalosporin and other β lactam based
antibiotics (Figure 1). 1,2 However, soon after its commercialization and widespread usage, β
lactamase secreting penicillin resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus were isolated.3 The
introduction of methicillin (a β lactamase insensitive semi synthetic penicillin), to curb the resistance
problem resulted in the evolution of another resistant strain known as methicillin resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).4 Figure 1: Some β lactam antibiotics
Resistance to β lactams is easy for bacteria as all β lactams shared the same mode of action, which is
the inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis by forming stable covalent adducts with the active site
serine residues of penicillin binding proteins (PBPs). The PBPS are often divided into two partitions;
the high molecular weight PBPs (HMW PBPs) and the low molecular weight PBPs (LMW PBPs). The
HMW PBPs are further divided in two classes, A and B, while the LMW PBPs are divided in four
subclasses based on their tertiary structures. Figure 2 shows the reactions between natural substrates, β
lactams and transition state analogs with the

Belonging Places In My Life Analysis
That is part of the beauty of all literature. You discover that your longings are universal longings, that
you re not lonely and isolated from anyone. You belong. said F. Scott Fitzgerald. Belonging
somewhere is what most people desire most in their lives. Things as simple as wanting to belong to a

Being An Effective Team
Being an Effective Team Everyone has been a part of team at one point in their life. Teams are used all
the time. They can be used during school to work on a project, in athletics, or on a job site. What is
important to keep in mind when using teams, is there various dynamics that can make a team both
succeed or fail. The more complexities that one understands, the more effective they will be at
building a team. While a leader builds a team, they will also be faced with many challenges. It is
important to keep in mind that the challenges that leaders will face are sometimes out of their control.
This paper will instead address a idea that a leader is in complete control of, micromanagement. This
paper will also include proven ways of addressing these complexities and challenges by presenting the
reader with tips from one of college basketball s most successful coaches. Building a team is not a
simple task, but if done with great care and attention to detail, it can be a very rewarding one.
Dealing with Multiple Types of People Quite possibly the most challenging phenomena that a leader
must deal with when creating a team of people is the varying differences within the field of options.
With so many different personalities possible, the team builder has to figure out a way of selecting 4 to
6 people who will compliment each other, while paying close attention to the idea that one personality
could harm the effect of someone with the opposite personality. For

The Chrysalids Vs To Kill A Mockingbird Analysis
The Chrysalids vs. To Kill a Mockingbird
Lead Harper Lee s, To Kill a Mockingbird, takes place in Maycomb, Alabama during the 1930 s, when
great depression and racial discrimination was occurring. The novel s protagonist, Jean Louise (Scout)
Finch, experiences the great depression in a town in Alabama, Macomb. The Chrysalids, written by
John Wyndham in late 1940 s, which is set in the future after the devastating global nuclear war. The
novel s protagonist, David Strorm lives in a community of Waknuk, consisting of religious and genetic
fanatics. Waknuk is a community where anything out of a norm is sinful and could even end in a
consequence as serious as death. The main question is, what does Wyndham s and Lee s themes,
superstition, racism, and fear say about today s society? Superstition is seen in many religions and
beliefs that do not accept different races or religions in today s society. This can also be known as
Racism, which is also present in both of these novels. Racism is also seen in today s society at
schools, work, etc... Lastly, Fear is also a major theme in both of these novels, portrayed by several
characters, or societies. All of this can be related back to how the authors show these themes, and what
they say about society everywhere. While Lee s story focusses on the themes directly related to the
society and Wyndham s story adheres closely to its protagonist, they share the key distinction of
warning and criticizing the cruelty of today s society.

While many words throughout the English language can paint a vivid image or idea, the word freedom
is perhaps one of the most ambiguous. It is defined as the following: the fact of not being controlled
by subject or fate; the power of self determination attributed to will ( Freedom ). Its definition cannot
be simplified into one dimension, and its interpretation is completely contextual. The reason that the
definition from the Oxford English Dictionary was given prior, was due to its broadness; making it a
more well suited definition to describe the concept of freedom. In analyzing freedom, similar words
will be discussed, freedom s characteristics described, and examples given, in order to illustrate the
word and some of its many uses. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A prisoner of war may feel ecstatic when the war is over and he can finally go back home to his
family; free from his oppressors. A conservative may feel outraged by the idea of abortion being
legalized, but those supporting it may feel relief for women; knowing they are now free to act with
their own bodies accordingly. Freedom evokes different emotions in different instances, and most
words cannot achieve that to the same extent that freedom can. Another attribute associated with
freedom, as illustrated before, is its versatility. Freedom can not only evoke many emotions, but can
have multiple meanings. It can be representative of its synonyms is one sense and its antonyms in
another. In the abortion example, the legalization of abortion could be liberating to those who support
it, and restrictive to those who believe that it is immoral, unholy, destructive to society, et cetera.
In Joel Feinberg s article, The Concept of Freedom, he discusses how the word free, without any
context, does not shed any light on what makes something free. According to Feinberg, most general
ascriptions of freedom are best understood as elliptical, or abbreviate for some longer expression...we
may have to add specifications of what someone is free from, or is free to do, or more precisely who it
is whose freedom is at issue (10). Without specifics, people will remain uncertain of what sort of

Proving the Kawasaki Theorem
Introduction:
Research
We chose this project; because we all love making origami and now we will know everything in it.
Origami means the art of paper folding. It s connected to the mathematics called geometry. When we
fold origami we also create lots of surfaces. For instance, by folding a square piece of paper in half
diagonally or from one tip to the opposite tip, we create two surfaces in the shape of triangles.
Mathematicians related origami to a theorem called the Kawasaki theorem. The Kawasaki theorem
states that if we add up the angle measurements of every angle around a point, the sum will be 180. It
is a theorem giving a decision for an origami construction to be flat. Kawasaki theorem also states that
a given crease pattern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sink Fold
The sink fold is a method of blunting a point that has no open edges. The fold should first be
precreased. Then carefully open the model and tuck the point inside. Flatten the model afterwards
along existing creases.
Procedure of making a pelican origami:
1. Start with your paper white side up. Fold in half, along the line shown, and then open out again. 2.
Fold the outside corners into the centre line, and crease well.
3. Fold the outside edges into the centre once again. 4. Turn model over and fold bottom point up to
the top point. Crease very well. 5. Fold in half
6. Rotate model so it is now lying down. 7. Raise the inside triangle upwards slowly, then flatten and
crease well. 8. Inside Reverse Fold the head along the crease shown.
9. Fold each wing upward as shown, then fold it back again slightly. The pelican will now rest on its
wings and sit up. Finished Pelican!
Classifying some types of origami
There are lots of types of origami:
Action Origami
Origami Tessellations
Pure land Origami
Toilet Paper Origami
Wet Folding Origami
Crease Patterns
Dollar Bill Origami
Golden Venture Folding
Modular Origami
Conclusion:
Thus, we conclude that in this project we can use the Kawasaki theorem to construct a pelican or a
crane using certain folds of origami.

Analyzing Bonaventure s Essay
Finally, insofar as he is the life, Christ is the source of the contemplative cognition, the final stage of
the cognitive process. Once again, he grounds his exposition on Biblical sources, first focusing on
John 10:9. In this passage, we find the apostle writing that I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will
be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture . In connection to the present theme,
Bonaventure argues on the ground of this passage that the soul contemplates [...] in two ways,
according to two kinds of nourishment: internally in divinity and externally in humanity. Accordingly,
there are two modes of contemplating, going in and going out, which one can attain only through
Christ . More specifically, on the one hand Bonaventure writes that we go into Christ inasmuch as he
is the uncreated Word [...] . As such, Christ represents the gateway to the contemplation of the
principal light an expression he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this sense, just as the cognitive process began with our faith placed in revelation and authority, we
reach the stability and fullness of truth by contemplating Christ as the uncreated or as the incarnate
Word. Even in contemplation, the internal and incorporeal presence of Christ is necessarily joined by
his external and corporeal presence. What is different now, is that in contemplation, be it on the inside
or on the outside, what we meet and contemplate is in both cases the eternal Word or, Christ according
to his being eternal , once being incarnated in human form, and once as we encounter it in our soul.
This, is done with an act of direct appraisal, whereas in faith both revelation and authority both needed
the other as their support and explanandum thereby receiving a sort of indirect confirmation, insofar as
revelation taught and explained authority, and authority confirmed and taught

Communication Sabotage
Sabotage and self sabotage are things I am familiar with. I have burnt many bridges in my life, and
have often undermined my own success because of fear and other poorly developed emotional
responses to stress. The reading material on communication sabotage reinforced what I already know:
that sabotage is preventing me from reaching my highest potential. The readings on sabotage in
communication also helped me to recognize what sabotage is in the realm of human communication
and how to recognize it before it happens. For example, Reisinger refers to six unintentional ways
people sabotage their communications. One of those ways is what Reisinger calls giving analyses.
Giving analyses is jumping to conclusions about someone based on one behavior or one incidence. I
have over analyzed what someone says to me, such as by assuming the other person thinks I am fat or
dumb just by the way they looked at me or failed to look at me. Analyzing non verbal communication
is a big mistake, but so is analyzing verbal communication. One of the ways I sabotage is by
overusing sarcasm. The Power Point presentation shows how sarcasm and put downs can be damaging
to relationships. Although it may seem obvious, many of us use sarcasm automatically because it is
part of our communication arsenal. I need to learn how to stop being so sarcastic and therefore stop
sabotaging myself and other people. As the Power Point presentation points out, sabotage is almost
always subtle. It is about

Segregation In The Other Side By Jacqueline Woodson
Someday somebody s going to come along and knock this old fence down. In class we read, The
Other Side, by Jacqueline Woodson. This is a story about a black girl and a white girl who grew up
during segregation.
In The Other Side, there are a couple of different tones. One tone is ambivalent. The reason one tone is
ambivalent is because they are kids so they most likely have mixed feelings about segregation. They
were raised racist, but do not truly want to be racist. Another tone is kind. Both girls are kind towards
each other even though they are different races.
The symbol in this story is the fence. The fence represents segregation of black and white people. The
story talks about the fence very often. The first sentence of the story

Isabella Baumfree, An African American Abolitionist And...
In 1797, Isabella Baumfree, an African American abolitionist and women s rights activist, was born
into slavery. Although her real name was Isabella Baumfree, the rest of the world knows her as
Sojourner Truth. Throughout her childhood, she was traded and sold to several different families, in
which she was separated from her family. Her father was a slave that was captured in Ghana and her
mother descended from slaves, so it was typical for children of slaves to be sold separately from their
families. Originally, her family was owned by Colonel Hardenbergh, but they were sold separately
soon after his death. At the young age of nine, Truth was sold for the very first time at an auction for a
measly $100 to John Dumont. She spent a total of two years with Mr. Dumont prior to being sold, in
which she was treated very poorly. Although she was treated very poorly, she learned how to speak
English during this time, which proved to be a valuable tool throughout her life. Not only did this help
her as an itinerant preacher, but it also allowed her to fight for her rights against injustices. During her
time at Mr. Dumont s, she fell in love with another slave named Robert from a neighboring farm.
Although Robert s owner forbade the relationship, Truth became pregnant and the couple had one
daughter together. After the birth of their daughter, Robert and Sojourner Truth never saw each other
again. Out of spite, Truth s owner forced her to marry an older slave, Thomas, in which she

Texas Constitution
Comparing and Contrasting the Texas and U.S Constitutions
The Texas Constitution (1876) as well as the United States Constitution (1791) have a plethora of
similarities conceptually, as they are both rooted with the same ideologies of democracy. However,
what sets these two documents apart is that the Texas constitution goes into more depth on laws and
how its government works. In contrast, the US Constitution is more vague allowing it to be a far more
timeless and living document. This paper will be comparing and contrasting these four provisions
from the U.S and Texas Constitutions: The Bill of Rights, amending the constitution, the legislative
branch, and the executive branch. The Bill of Rights is one of the many provisions ... Show more

The Executive branch is seen as the head of all three branches and is the one that we believe holds the
most power. The Texas Constitution and the U.S Constitution give the powers that this branch obtains.
In this branch both the Governor of Texas and President of the U.S are given powers, such as minimal
removal powers, military powers, message powers, and of course veto powers. Both of the executive
bodies also have a line of succession which is put into effect when either the Governor of Texas or the
President of the United States is impeached. That brings me to the contrast found in the constitutions
when it comes to impeachment, in the National government there are very specific reasons to why the
President would be impeached, for example treason would be one of those. The Texas Constitution
gives the power to impeach the Governor but there are no written out reasons as to what is an
impeachable offense, the House of Representatives decide what is impeachable. Adding on to the
differences between the two the executive body leaders have different qualifications when it comes to
running for that position, to become Governor you have to be 30 years old

  • 4. Elite Society In George Orwell s Animal Farm In today s world it is quite common for there to be elite societies, whether it is a result from power or intellect. The formation of an elite society is based on how others respond to others actions. In the novel, Animal Farm, the elite society of Animal Farm is the result of the actions of both the pigs and the lower animals as well. The pigs use their superior knowledge to manipulate the lower animals, and the lower animals do not rebel against the pigs or recognize they are being controlled. The pigs create an elite society by using their superior knowledge to take advantage of the lower animals. One example of the lower animals allowing the creation of the elite society to occur is when the pigs eat all of the milk and apples, and are not sharing the food equally between the animals. Squealer explains to the lower animals why the pigs deserve the milks and apples by saying, Milk and apples...contain substances absolutely necessary to the well being of a pig... [because] the whole management... of this farm depends on us... [and] it is for your sake that we drink that milk and apples (23). The lower animals did not rebel against this idea because they agree that the pigs need to be healthy to run the farm. Squealer also uses fear to control the animals. He mentions to the lower animals, if [the] pigs failed in [their] duty... Jones would come back (23). The animals believe Squealer s statement and certainly do not want Jones to return so they do not rebel. Another example of the lower animals allowing the creation of the society to happen is when Napoleon executes some of the lower animals. After the execution the thoughts of Clover are, There was no thought of rebellion or disobedience in [Clover s] mind. Onwuegbu Walden University NURS 4020 Section 13, Leadership Theory October 19, 2014 Leadership Theory Paper According to Sullivan (2013), leadership is influencing others into working toward accomplishing a common goal (pg. 42). The purpose of this paper is to identify my personality type through the Myers Briggs test, discuss the leadership style of Gandhi and his similarities to my style in relation to nursing. Assessment Inventory The Myers Briggs test was developed from Carl Jungs theory of personality types by Isabel Briggs Myers and her mother Katherine Briggs (Myers, I. B. 2000, pg 6). In order to determine an individual s type of personality this test was created with specific questions on how information is processed. This test determines whether and individual directs their energy in an introverted or extroverted way. The incongruity of the internal narrator and the external narrator is the element that sets up the tension between the two characters. They both interact with each other cordially and respectfully. However, there is a presence of internal arrogance between the two narrators. John thinks of himself as smarter than Julius because he (Julius) is old, poor, and uneducated while Julius thinks he can out smart John because he s younger, wealthier, and lacks knowledge of the area. Julius is extremely good at storytelling because he yields to his audience and draws his audience in from the beginning of the story to the end, which is a tool involved in tall tales. Julius is a trickster and even illustrates his story with the character of a Yankee, who seemingly posses the same shrewdness as Julius. His illustration of a shrew Yankee also seems to be an indirect insult towards John because he too is a northerner. In the frame structure, the two voices operating off each other raise a question of motive between the two narrators. Julius motive is clearly to mislead John and Annie so that he will ... Rectifying these short comings is important if the U.S. is to remain secure and prosperous. On January 27th, 2017, president Trump signed an executive order dealing with immigration. The order took effect immediately and sparked anger and confusion across the nation. Dozens of international travelers were detained at airports across the country. Clearly, since Yates did not issue this statement on the grounds that the order was illegal, she based her decision on her disagreement with the justice of the order. Consequently, Yates was fired. • 17. What Sets The Successful Companies Apart From The... PEWAUKEE SCHOOL DISTRICT (PSD). Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award Recipient 2013 (Education Category) 1. What sets the successful companies apart from the unsuccessful companies? Answer: Three main characteristics of the winner have succeeded as a successful company they are: i. They mainly concentrate on value rather putting their thoughts on long term goals, that means they always concentrate in reduction of the costs in a strategic context and with a reasonable spotlight on their core. ii. They misuse opportunities one of a kind to the downturn, which can mean anything from utilizing misfortune to increase new clients to squeezing forward with advancement. iii. They act quickly, with a spryness that allows them to keep pace with, or development of, speedy changes in the business environment. Successful companies always put their eye on the growth of the organization and they will try to keep the customers as they don t need to lose their valuable customers. • 19. The Tragic Hero Of Sophocles Sophocles Everyone would like to know what the future holds. Even today amid a weak economy and an increasingly violent society, the uncertainly of the future drives millions of people to turn to astrology and fortune telling to find security. The desire to know the future is a deep human emotional need and has been a part of philosophical and religious thinking since the Ancient Greeks. Sophocles, for example, emphasized the belief that most people lack insight and that truth only presents itself when it collides with ignorance ( Sophocles ). Thus, the gods and their oracles represented the divine order of the universe where humans were the unwilling subjects. These oracles were used to give advice and insight to men whose minds were full of fear. This fear contributes to the term Aristotle established as hamartia. In Aristotle s conception, a tragic hero is a distinguished person occupying a high position, living in prosperous circumstances, and falling into misfortune because of an error in judgment, indicating the protagonist s tragic weakness (T. C. W.). Sophocles, through his character Oedipus Rex, demonstrates how a man can end up a tragic hero even if he is in a state of ignorance. He doesn t necessarily have to be making his mistakes intentionally. Oedipus downfall was within his own determination to find out the truth and his irrational reactions to what he heard that ironically brought disaster upon himself and his family. Long Distance Running Advantages The Benefits of Long Distance Running Health professionals and the general public have thoroughly researched and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of long distance marathon running; the physical and mental benefits make it apparent that long distance marathon running is overall an activity that supports a healthy lifestyle. Nathan Critchfield Mrs. Voigt Senior Project Research Paper October 20, 2017 When considering the topic of health benefits and the risks of running long distances the well known story of the original marathoner Pheidippides is often brought up. The story is often told that Pheidippides, after running nearly twenty six miles from Marathon to Athens to declare that the Athenians had won the Battle of Marathon, fell dead from exhaustion. This version of the first marathon often casts a negative light on the health benefits of running. However, this is not the full story. The real story involves Pheidippides traveling one hundred forty miles in an attempt to recruit the Spartans to aid the Athenians in their upcoming battle; then running again the return trip to report to the Athenians that aid would not be coming before the Persians arrived to battle. Finally, he ran the twenty six miles to Athens to report the Athenian victory. That is when he finally collapsed from wounds and exhaustion. From this tragedy, we see that at some point distance running can be harmful or even fatal. The real question is, have marathons reached ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Little has changed since then, (In the long run, penmanship classes for doctors won t do much for patient safety, 2001). This has been an ongoing problem since inception. Therefore, the beginning of the process should be changed in this day and age of technology to have prescriptions entered into computers and handheld devices by the doctor, to ensure accuracy of the medication that is needed to be filled, and electronically sent to the pharmacy. Having a nurse call in prescriptions is a non value added activity that can be eliminated. This may be expensive at the start to implement, but in the long term, it will save both organizations time, help reduce errors, and add value to the level of service the organization gives. With this change, label errors should also be reduced as well, ensuring the patient receives the correct medicine and dosage. After implementing the technological advancements, the pharmacy will be required to keep a log of all medications brought back or called saying that they are the wrong medicine. • 38. The Shawshank Redemption And The Marriage Of Figaro What does one imagine when viewing a comic opera? A ornamented opera house? Patrons dressed in black tie apparel? However, would one imagine a comic opera playing in a maximum security prison? Would uneducated prisoners appreciate the music? In The Shawshank Redemption both of these events occurred. In The Shawshank Redemption, Andy Dufresne plays an duet from Mozart s comic opera, The Marriage to Figaro, as its Enlightened ideals represent Andy s prison experience and its Classical characteristics evoke a sense of hope in the repressed prison. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart s The Marriage of Figaro reflects the social and musical influence of the Classical period. Socially, The Marriage of Figaro reflects the ideals of the Enlightenment. The Enlightenment was was a period that saw the institutions of Europe religious, political, social, educational, industrial, financial and artistic slowly but inexorably lower their focus from the ruling aristocratic and clerical classes to a new class of people. For want of a better term, we call this new and rising class of people the middle class (Greenberg Opera Buffa ). The Enlightenment placed an emphasis on the natural man or the common man, not just the aristocratic class (Kerman and Tomlinson Listen 153). Consequently, Mozart focused his comic operas on lower to middle class protagonists like the servants Figaro and Susanna whose marital bliss is delayed by nobles ( Synopsis: Le Nozze di Figaro The Metropolitan Opera). • 40. The Concept of Freedom an Article by Joel Feinberg Essay While many words throughout the English language can paint a vivid image or idea, the word freedom is perhaps one of the most ambiguous. It is defined as the following: the fact of not being controlled by subject or fate; the power of self determination attributed to will ( Freedom ). Its definition cannot be simplified into one dimension, and its interpretation is completely contextual. The reason that the definition from the Oxford English Dictionary was given prior, was due to its broadness; making it a more well suited definition to describe the concept of freedom. In analyzing freedom, similar words will be discussed, freedom s characteristics described, and examples given, in order to illustrate the word and some of its many uses. ... A conservative may feel outraged by the idea of abortion being legalized, but those supporting it may feel relief for women; knowing they are now free to act with their own bodies accordingly. Freedom evokes different emotions in different instances, and most words cannot achieve that to the same extent that freedom can. Another attribute associated with freedom, as illustrated before, is its versatility. Freedom can not only evoke many emotions, but can have multiple meanings. It can be representative of its synonyms is one sense and its antonyms in another. In the abortion example, the legalization of abortion could be liberating to those who support it, and restrictive to those who believe that it is immoral, unholy, destructive to society, et cetera. In Joel Feinberg s article, The Concept of Freedom, he discusses how the word free, without any context, does not shed any light on what makes something free. According to Feinberg, most general ascriptions of freedom are best understood as elliptical, or abbreviate for some longer expression...we may have to add specifications of what someone is free from, or is free to do, or more precisely who it is whose freedom is at issue (10). Without specifics, people will remain uncertain of what sort of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Proving the Kawasaki Theorem Introduction: Research We chose this project; because we all love making origami and now we will know everything in it. Origami means the art of paper folding. It s connected to the mathematics called geometry. When we fold origami we also create lots of surfaces. For instance, by folding a square piece of paper in half diagonally or from one tip to the opposite tip, we create two surfaces in the shape of triangles. Mathematicians related origami to a theorem called the Kawasaki theorem. The Kawasaki theorem states that if we add up the angle measurements of every angle around a point, the sum will be 180. It is a theorem giving a decision for an origami construction to be flat. Kawasaki theorem also states that a given crease pattern ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 43. Analyzing Bonaventure s Essay Finally, insofar as he is the life, Christ is the source of the contemplative cognition, the final stage of the cognitive process. Once again, he grounds his exposition on Biblical sources, first focusing on John 10:9. In this passage, we find the apostle writing that I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture . In connection to the present theme, Bonaventure argues on the ground of this passage that the soul contemplates [...] in two ways, according to two kinds of nourishment: internally in divinity and externally in humanity. Accordingly, there are two modes of contemplating, going in and going out, which one can attain only through Christ . More specifically, on the one hand Bonaventure writes that we go into Christ inasmuch as he is the uncreated Word [...] . As such, Christ represents the gateway to the contemplation of the principal light an expression he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this sense, just as the cognitive process began with our faith placed in revelation and authority, we reach the stability and fullness of truth by contemplating Christ as the uncreated or as the incarnate Word. Even in contemplation, the internal and incorporeal presence of Christ is necessarily joined by his external and corporeal presence. What is different now, is that in contemplation, be it on the inside or on the outside, what we meet and contemplate is in both cases the eternal Word or, Christ according to his being eternal , once being incarnated in human form, and once as we encounter it in our soul. This, is done with an act of direct appraisal, whereas in faith both revelation and authority both needed the other as their support and explanandum thereby receiving a sort of indirect confirmation, insofar as revelation taught and explained authority, and authority confirmed and taught ... • 44. Communication Sabotage Sabotage and self sabotage are things I am familiar with. I have burnt many bridges in my life, and have often undermined my own success because of fear and other poorly developed emotional responses to stress. The reading material on communication sabotage reinforced what I already know: that sabotage is preventing me from reaching my highest potential. The readings on sabotage in communication also helped me to recognize what sabotage is in the realm of human communication and how to recognize it before it happens. For example, Reisinger refers to six unintentional ways people sabotage their communications. One of those ways is what Reisinger calls giving analyses. Giving analyses is jumping to conclusions about someone based on one behavior or one incidence. I have over analyzed what someone says to me, such as by assuming the other person thinks I am fat or dumb just by the way they looked at me or failed to look at me. Analyzing non verbal communication is a big mistake, but so is analyzing verbal communication. One of the ways I sabotage is by overusing sarcasm. The Power Point presentation shows how sarcasm and put downs can be damaging to relationships. Although it may seem obvious, many of us use sarcasm automatically because it is part of our communication arsenal. I need to learn how to stop being so sarcastic and therefore stop sabotaging myself and other people. As the Power Point presentation points out, sabotage is almost always subtle. It is about ... • 45. Segregation In The Other Side By Jacqueline Woodson Someday somebody s going to come along and knock this old fence down. In class we read, The Other Side, by Jacqueline Woodson. This is a story about a black girl and a white girl who grew up during segregation. In The Other Side, there are a couple of different tones. One tone is ambivalent. The reason one tone is ambivalent is because they are kids so they most likely have mixed feelings about segregation. They were raised racist, but do not truly want to be racist. Another tone is kind. Both girls are kind towards each other even though they are different races. The symbol in this story is the fence. The fence represents segregation of black and white people. The story talks about the fence very often. The first sentence of the story ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Isabella Baumfree, An African American Abolitionist And... In 1797, Isabella Baumfree, an African American abolitionist and women s rights activist, was born into slavery. Although her real name was Isabella Baumfree, the rest of the world knows her as Sojourner Truth. Throughout her childhood, she was traded and sold to several different families, in which she was separated from her family. Her father was a slave that was captured in Ghana and her mother descended from slaves, so it was typical for children of slaves to be sold separately from their families. Originally, her family was owned by Colonel Hardenbergh, but they were sold separately soon after his death. At the young age of nine, Truth was sold for the very first time at an auction for a measly $100 to John Dumont. She spent a total of two years with Mr. Dumont prior to being sold, in which she was treated very poorly. Although she was treated very poorly, she learned how to speak English during this time, which proved to be a valuable tool throughout her life. Not only did this help her as an itinerant preacher, but it also allowed her to fight for her rights against injustices. During her time at Mr. Dumont s, she fell in love with another slave named Robert from a neighboring farm. Although Robert s owner forbade the relationship, Truth became pregnant and the couple had one daughter together. After the birth of their daughter, Robert and Sojourner Truth never saw each other again. Out of spite, Truth s owner forced her to marry an older slave, Thomas, in which she ... • 47. Texas Constitution Comparing and Contrasting the Texas and U.S Constitutions The Texas Constitution (1876) as well as the United States Constitution (1791) have a plethora of similarities conceptually, as they are both rooted with the same ideologies of democracy. However, what sets these two documents apart is that the Texas constitution goes into more depth on laws and how its government works. In contrast, the US Constitution is more vague allowing it to be a far more timeless and living document. This paper will be comparing and contrasting these four provisions from the U.S and Texas Constitutions: The Bill of Rights, amending the constitution, the legislative branch, and the executive branch. The Executive branch is seen as the head of all three branches and is the one that we believe holds the most power. The Texas Constitution and the U.S Constitution give the powers that this branch obtains. In this branch both the Governor of Texas and President of the U.S are given powers, such as minimal removal powers, military powers, message powers, and of course veto powers. Both of the executive bodies also have a line of succession which is put into effect when either the Governor of Texas or the President of the United States is impeached. That brings me to the contrast found in the constitutions when it comes to impeachment, in the National government there are very specific reasons to why the President would be impeached, for example treason would be one of those. The Texas Constitution gives the power to impeach the Governor but there are no written out reasons as to what is an impeachable offense, the House of Representatives decide what is impeachable. Adding on to the differences between the two the executive body leaders have different qualifications when it comes to running for that position, to become Governor you have to be 30 years old ...
