Character Analysis Of Simon In Lord Of The Flies
In William Golding s Lord of the Flies a group of boys is trapped on a jungle island after a horrific
accident. During their time on this island, the boys struggle to fight against the ferocious side of
human nature in trying to avoid turning against each other. The character Simon is introduced and is
immediately portrayed as a kind, sensitive and logical boy. Living on this island starts to have a
negative effect on the boys and fights begin to break out over leadership. The little boys speak of the
beast , and the boys fear and paranoia causes them to turn on each other and act similar to animals.
Only Simon realizes that the beast is not real, and that the only real beast on the island is the
savageness of human nature. In realizing this and not being affected by the influence of the beast,
Simon shows he is more logical and is less savage than the rest of the boys and he demonstrates that
he does not belong on this godless island of unthinking boys. When the boys first crash on the island,
they attempt to maintain an illusion of civilization with meetings and try to define roles in their
miniature society. They elect Ralph as their leader and build a signal fire in order to alert ships that
they are trapped on the island. Simon tries to maintain order and care for the little children on the
island by feeding them and protecting them from the older boys. Simon s appearance is described as a
skinny, vivid little boy (Lord of the Flies, page 16) and he is shown to

Cybersecurity Talent Case Study
Shortage of Cybersecurity Talent
Companies are constantly under series of attacks by hackers. Hackers have carried out successfully

cybersecurity talents, with security tools not being properly managed a company s ability to respond

it takes companies more than three months to figure out that their systems have been breached , this is

Essay on Jim Jones as a Prophet
Jim Jones as a Prophet
November 18, 1978 it all ended. Jim Jones and his
followers committed mass suicide in Guyana, South
America. The history of Jim Jones and the Peoples Temple
is still studied a great deal today. Why did all those
people follow Jones? Were they forced, were they brain
washed, or was Jones just that charismatic. In
this paper we will probe deep into Jonestown and answer
some of these questions. We will be using Max Webber s
article The Prophet find out if Jones was a prophet, if
so what kind of prophet was he. We will also compare and
contrast Webber s theories of charismatic leadership at
an attempt to understand Jim s activities, successes, and
failures. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

California Jones appeared to be out primarily for his own
self interest not the church. Because of this Jones
shifts from an ethical prophet to an exemplary prophet.
After the subversive tactics of the Peoples Temple,
they started to feel the pressure from the society around
them. So again Jones moved the Church and anyone able to
the perfect utopian society, Guyana South America. Here
they named their society Jonestown. The Church made
everything they needed and were essentially isolated from
the rest of the world. In Guyana, Jim was becoming less
and less important every day. Everyone built the society
so everyone had somewhat of stock invested, making Jim
less important. When Jim saw his importance fading, he
faked numerous injuries to gain attention. Jim claimed to
have cancer although an autopsy showed no cancer was
present in his body. Even though Jones forbid the use of
drugs, he became dependent on barbiturates and
painkillers. His excuse was that he needed them for the
pain of his non existent injuries. Then as quickly as it
grew it ended. The People Temple killed a congressman
coming to observe their life style. Knowing the
repercussions of this Jones organized a revolutionary
suicide that proved to everyone that they would not

Decisional Diction In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
Poetry Essay The Road Not Taken In the narrative poem, The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost utilize
literary devices to magnified the concept of decisional dilemma and present a message on paths
chosen in the course of life. Robert Frost implemented strategic diction, sensory imagery, and
figurative language that enhances the content portrayed in the poem itself. The poem focus around the
turmoil of the two roads the speaker has to choose one being a commonly taken path and the other one
isn t commonly taken is filled with discomfort and unexpected nature . The speaker eventually
selected the route of uncertainty, yet it develops the notion of individuality that opposes the influence
of socially uniformed opinion. Forst s decision solidified the concept that each individual possess the
ability to form their own unique belief, and take their future in their own hands. Robert Frost
incorporates specific usage of dictions throughout the poem to enhance meaning, while exerting his
attitude in the context of the literature. In the first line of The Road Not Taken, the term diverged is
placed after Two roads to introduce the story at a location where the speaker is faced with a decision.
The term word diverge projects the image that the road is separated with the results differ based on the
route the speaker chooses. The speaker responds with I could not travel both in line 2 of the poem.
The term not in this case elaborates on the fact that the speaker is unable to foresee the outcome of
both route. A significant component on why the speaker is apprehensive on deciding which road he
will ultimately take. Robert Frost incorporates an assonance rhythm in each of his stanza with the last
words of the first, third, and fourth lines having the same ending syllable, as well as second and fourth
line respectively. The usage of an assonance in this poem represents the movement of each step that
the speaker takes as he progressively walk in the path of life he chooses.
Visual image of scenery enable the readers to merge with the environment and mental state the
speaker is currently experiencing within the realm of the literature. Frost announce that he looked
down one as far as I could in line 4 to one

An Explanation Of How Billing And Coding Works For...
B. An explanation of how billing and coding works for healthcare services
Medical billing and coding are two closely related aspects of the modern health care industry. Both
practices are involved in the immensely important reimbursement cycle, which ensures that health
care providers are paid for the services they perform. For the sake of simplicity, let s divide the two at
the moment and look at them as separate pieces of a larger process. We ll begin with medical coding.
Medical Coding Medical coding, at its most basic, is a little like translation. It s the coder s job to take
something that s written one way (a doctor s diagnosis, for example, or a prescription for a certain
medication) and translate it as accurately as possible into a numeric or alphanumeric code. For every
injury, diagnosis, and medical procedure, there is a corresponding code. There are thousands and
thousands of codes for medical procedures, outpatient procedures, and diagnoses. Let s start with a
quick example of medical coding in action. A patient walks into a doctor s office with a hacking
cough, high production of mucus or sputum, and a fever. A nurse asks the patient their symptoms and
performs some initial tests, and then the doctor examines the patient and diagnoses bronchitis. The
doctor then prescribes medication to the patient.
Every part of this visit is recorded by the doctor or someone in the healthcare provider s office. It s the
medical coder s job to translate every bit of relevant

Lord Of The Flies Conch Character Analysis
PCF. People create freaks, or Pigs Conches and fires
Many who attend high school has the pleasure to read Lord of the Flies . A novel where the main
characters are all little boys who have to learn how to live without adults, stranded on an island. Alone
on the island, they try to accustom themselves to their new lives while still preserving all the fun they
had at home, using the fire as a symbol of hope, the conch as a symbol of unity, and the pig as
innocence. Little did they know, all of this will change for them as time goes by. In Golding s Novel
Lord of the Flies he presents to us an intricate story with a deeper meaning than just boys on an island.

The group goes out and finds a pig who they hunt down. However, he can t bring it to himself to kill
an innocent being. The pig symbolizes the inner demon within all of us as the pig first starts out as an
innocent little thing that has not been scarred by the evil trenches of the world, ... because of the
enormity of the knife descending and cutting into living flesh, because of the unbearable blood. (pg 31
Golding) Jack lets the pig go, for her to live another day out in the wild. The pig also demonstrates
humans craving to finish the job . Jack s inability to kill the pig leads him to desire it, on many levels.
His mind becomes obsessed with the want and need to kill that pig. He doesn t only kills the pig, he
and his tribe slaughter her and cut off her head, as an offering to the beast, a creature the kids are
terrified of, yet never saw, ...The Lord of the Flies hung on his stick and grinned...saw the white teeth
and dim eyes, the blood and his gaze was held by that ancient, inescapable recognition. (pg 136
Golding) This innocent pig becomes this devil like figure that has been influencing the kids all along,
pulling on the strings in just the right way to make them dance however the Lord of the Flies pleased.
He later then talks to Simon as he figures all this out on his own, Fancy thinking the Beast was
something you could hunt and kill! ... You knew didn t you? I m part of you? Close, close, close! I m
the reason why it s no go? Why things are what they are? (pg 143

Euthanasi The Complex Role Of The Physician With Physician...
The theoretical aim of this thesis is to introduce euthanasia, the complex role of the physician with
physician assisted suicide (PAS) under the argument that it is not an issue of passive or active. Nor
right or wrong. Euthanasia is defined as the act or practice of killing or allowing someone to die on
grounds of mercy (Morally Disputed Issues: A Reader, 341). In its complexion euthanasia is not
merely a dead or alive decision as it truly is at its core goal. There is passive euthanasia which is
defined as withholding treatment such as a ventilator or fluids. There is active euthanasia which is
prescribing or initiating a substance that would allow a person to stop living. We also have to consider
voluntary euthanasia a patient seeks to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Often times when a terminal patient has six months to live they still have autonomy. One would need
to be autonomous to be approved for PAS and as such we can infer that the patient is able to make
peace, tie up loose ends, find comfort in religion, and be comforted with family before being
consumed by the disease. Giving the patient the option to die with dignity vs. naturally where time and
treatments slowly deteriorate the mind and body can offer freedom from suffering for the patient and
family. For example if a patient that felt ill and after medical testing receives a diagnosis that she has a
rare systemic cancer and at best has six months to live. That patient then could with the support of her
family discuss everything that needs to be taken care of prior to the advancement of the disease. After
taking care of business, the patient could discuss with her family and friends ways to create special
days leading up to her last day. This option could give the family, as well as the patient, the possibility
to say goodbye before the disease has removed autonomy and personality. This patient s family would
not have to watch their daughter, wife, sister, or mother suffer greatly to the point she screams for God
to take her.
In support of James Rachel s belief that withholding PAS in a suffering patient is the equivalent to
endorsing more suffering, I refute

When I asked him if he experienced any combat he said; yes, I experienced some combat. But most of
the time I spent in combat was in a tank. Not too much action there. A typical day in my grandfathers
life at the time was to wake up at the crack of dawn and get ready for a full day of combat, well at

I asked him if he thought about the war very often now and he said; so so. Not alot. Glad its over.
When I asked him if he lost any friends or people he served with in the war he said that he lost some
friends in combat but he didn t talk much about that. He carried his sacred heart metal with him

The war did not change him. My grandfather was received with lots of love. He was going to go to

With approximately 85% percent of Australia s population living within 50km of it, the coastline has
always been a popular haven for human civilization. In Qld, many say that it has become
fundamentally important to us, both as a natural resource and as a means of revenue. Despite our

2.4 Success of Coastal Management Practices:
Overall, current management practices have been insufficient in protecting the wellbeing of the
coastline (i.e. the beach itself is considerably eroded, and the fence line and access routes are in
disrepair). As a consequence, the location requires more attention.
Firstly, more bins could be placed around the beach to discourage people from littering and the fence
line should be repaired. The distressed Mangroves could also be assisted in their recovery and
regrowth as they may be useful as a buffer zone in the future. Finally, there should be more dune
plantation to secure the bank and prevent further erosion, and perhaps, even the implementation of a
rock wall to prevent further coastal recession.

Operation Iraqi Freedom And Operational Design
In order to develop effective solutions for complex military problems, the Joint Community within the
US Military adopted the methodology of Operational Design in Joint Doctrine. This methodology
addresses the concept of complex, ill structured or wicked problems. In fact, Lessons Learned as a
result of operations conducted over the last 15 years played an instrumental role in the continued
development of this doctrine. Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) illustrates a perfect case study for
evaluation utilizing this methodology. Therefore, the intent of this paper is to evaluate US Military
campaign planning for OIF by using operational design as the framework for this analysis. First, this
paper looks at how planners and commanders interpreted pre invasion civilian policy guidance, their
understanding of the current operational environment, and how these commanders defined the
problem. Next, it identifies the strengths and weaknesses of the initial approach. After discussing this
initial approach, this paper examines how commanders assessed the campaign and refined the
approach to include how the reframing occurred. Lastly, it provides examples of how these lessons
learned shaped current joint planning policy and doctrine. Based on initial guidance received from
Secretary of Defense (SECDEF) Donald Rumsfeld in November 2001, CENTCOM Commander,

Pros And Cons Of Student Loan Fraud
Student Loan Fraud
In February, 2017, the United States District Court in Florida entered a final judgement in a civil trial
against FastTrain College, a for profit college chain, for falsifying documents used to defraud the
Department of Education of more than $12 million (Office of Inspector General, 2017). The owner,
Alejandro Amor, and the school falsified documents to receive federal funding through the Federal
Pell Grant Program, the Federal Direct Loan Program, the Federal Family Education Loan Program,
among others which provide federal assistance to students. The school used predatory practices to
entice non eligible prospective student to lie on their federal student loan applications to receive
federal funding, most of which went directly to the school and Amor. Two years earlier, a judge
convicted Amor in a criminal trial for conspiracy to steal government funds and theft of government
funds, leading to a 97 month jail sentence. Student loan fraud makes it more difficult for eligible
students to receive federal aid in getting a higher education. Additionally, the United States
government loses millions of dollars of taxpayer money to fraudulent student loan schemes and is
unlikely to recover the total amount lost.

Electronic Board Plc is an organization established by an electrical engineer, John Watsons in the early
1970s as a sole proprietorship venture. The main business of the company is the production of
electronic circuit boards. The company later on through dint of hard work, developed into a public
limited liability company. It maintained remarkable business success which climaxed in 1990, when it
recorded an appreciable sales margin of £26 million and a profit after tax of £1.9m, using staff
strength of 200 employees. The good business records of this company truncated in 1992, when it
started experiencing heavy dwindling fortunes by recording abysmal drop in total sales ... Show more

This is shown by the fact that their decisions support financing the procurement of modern technology
that can improve the firm s production quality.
(3) The availability of a management accountant in their employ can be utilized as an opportunity to
remedy losses due to misguided capital expenditures.
(4) The company already has a name in the electronic board making industry. These four points of
strengths and opportunities, if effectively guided by management accounting system, will improve the
returns to capital invested.
MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTING: A PANACEA FOR
THE RESCUE OF THE ELECTRONIC BOARD PLC
According to Will S, Ray H, Eric E.N. (2009), management accounting is a branch of accounting that
is concerned with providing information to managers who direct and control the firm s operations.
Management directing function seeks to effectively use both the human and raw material wealth of a
firm to achieve organizational set objectives on routine basis. Controlling function is the art of tele
guarding the activities of the organization to consistently fall in line with set objectives. Management
accounting achieves this function through effective budgeting.
EFFECTIVE BUDGETING SYSTEM
Budget is a comprehensive business plan for procuring and appropriating a firm s financial resources
over a specified time period. One of the identified problems of the Electronic Board Plc is that

By early 2009, Lennar Corporation was one of the nation s largest homebuilders and a provider of
financial services (Rankine, G., 2009, pg. 13 2). The Lennar Corporation was successful in many areas
of the homebuilding operations including; purchasing, development and financial services operating in
14 states throughout the U.S. The company developed a centralized corporate level management team
that was highly experienced in the homebuilding industry. This management team was responsible and

Joint ventures also expanded the financial situation for the Lennar Company to combine its

Depp Vs. Wilder as Willy Wonka Essay
Johnny Wilder
The recent movie, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, was an immediate box office success. Johnny
Depp played a wonderful part as Willy Wonka in this movie. The book, originally published in 1964,
was first made into a movie in 1971. In this movie, Gene Wilder played a remarkable role of Willy
Wonka as well. Despite the many differences in the actors, both had huge success playing the role of
the wacky, chocolate loving Mr. Wonka.
One of the differences in the actors was age. The actors were similar in actual age when playing the
role, Johnny Depp being 42 and Gene Wilder being 38. The real difference is in the age portrayed by
the actors. While Wilder s portrayal made Wonka appear to be a distant and seemingly ... Show more

Depp shows an amusing response to the smart remarks of the children, while Wilder shows a distant
neglect to their nonsense. Wilder would spill out some random fraise, as Depp would yell the word
Mumbler at the children before they could finish a sentence.
Despite their dislike of children, both Willy Wonka s showed a kind attitude towards Charlie Bucket.
At one point Wilder s character becomes angry with Charlie because he stole from the factory, but
Charlie s consideration towards Wonka leaves Wilder offering the factory to Charlie. Wilder is pleased
when Charlie accepts the heritage of his company. Depp s character does not seem to get angry with
Charlie at all through the movie, but Depp shows confusion for Charlie s care of family. Depp s
Wonka immediately offers Charlie the company, but does not invite his family. Charlie refuses the
offer because he wants to be with his family. Depp is left begging Charlie to overtake the factory.
After deep understanding Depp invites Charlie and his family into the factory. Charlie kindly accepts
his proposal.
The different wardrobes of the characters also show the difference in portrayal of Mr. Wonka. Depp s
wardrobe consists of a deep, dark maroon coat, with a black velvet top hat, while Wilder s wardrobe
consists of a bright violet coat, with a red velvet top hat. Depp appearance is overall darker due to his

This linear equation was also used to determine if the motor met the Maximum torque and speed
requirements for each individual joint in the surgery arm. The Vex DC motor that was tested in this lab
met the requirements for Joint C however for A and B, only one of the max requirements could be met
at a time. The requirements for each joint can be found in Table 5 in the attached sheet. For the servo
motor, the values of the pulse widths in milliseconds were recorded in Table 2 in the attached Figures
and Tables sheet with respect to their angles. This information was graphed into a scatterplot using
Excel. A trendline was fitted to the graph to find Equation 2 that describes the linear relationship
between pulse width and servo angle. This equation can be found on the Sample Calculations sheet.
As the stepper motor was tested, the corresponding angle of different combinations between Switch A
and Switch B. The result of these combinations can be found in Table 3 of the Figures and Tables

From this information, a sequence was deduced to rotate the motor a full 360 in increments of 45
degrees, found in Table 4 in Figures and Tables. . Keeping one switch on in one direction whether left

A Study On Image Detection
Chapter 3. Image Detection 1. Introduction Using right algorithm, can make image sensor sense or
detect practically anything. Image sensors are one of the important sensors been used in robotics
industry because they are so flexible, but there are two drawbacks with these kind of sensors: 1)they
output lots of data, dozens of megabytes per second, and 2) processing this amount of data can
overwhelm many processors. And even if the processor can keep up with the data, much of its
processing power won t be available for other tasks. Pixy cmucam5 solved these two problems by
intelligent way, it faced and solved these problems by paring a powerful dedicated processor with the
image sensor. Now pixy can processes images from the image sensor and only sends the useful
information (e.g. position of object been assigned before by giving its x and y orientation) to whatever
microcontroller you have. This microcontroller then use this data as input then process it to the
actuators. Pixy does this data analyzing and processing at rate (50Hz). And information which
processed by pixy can available through several interfaces: UART serial, SPI, I2C, digital out, or
analog out. So it is easy to communicate with pixy with Arduino or any other microcontroller and at
the same time still have a very large or plenty of CPU available for other tasks. Fig (1) I/O port

The Pros And Cons Of Steroids In Sports
Over the past century using steroids or performance enhancing drugs has been a massive issue in
today s athletic society. Using steroids is unfair to athletes and their fans, because it gives certain
sportsman an unfair advantage. Some athletes try to win at all costs even if sometimes that cost is
there career, achievements, and even there lifes. Doping, or as it is known on the streets, juicing does
no more than increase an individual s body mass. As stated from the New York State Health
Department Anabolic steroids help build muscle tissue and increase body mass by acting like the body
s natural male hormone, testosterone. However, steroids cannot improve an athlete s agility or skill
(Anabolic). This means that no matter how strong or powerful the steroids are it doesn t make the
athlete a true competitor. Most athletes that use this drug are looking for a quick and easier way to get
an advantage on their competitors. In saying so it s not the fact of an athlete getting big that makes
them want to juice , but it is the idea and the results of it making them better stronger and more
competitive athletes. There are quite a few reasons that using steroids is illegal in major league, and
worldwide sports. For starters, the drug itself inflicts intense damage on the users body. These effects
include strokes, cancers, blood clots, impaired liver functions, liver tumors, stunted skeletal growth,
hep B and C, and HIV (Anabolic). The list of side

How Did The Goths Lead To The Fall Of The Roman Empire
The Roman Empire was one of the biggest and most influential empires in history. At its height it
looked like they would never be defeated but in the late 5th century they were. The Roman Empire
was formed and remembered by its incredible military prowess, but that military strength failed the
empire and lead to the fall of the Empire. Military defeats led to the fall of the Western Roman
Empire. The Goths came into the Empire in 376 and never left, ravaging the empire for years and
eventually sacking Rome in 410. By ravaging and sacking the empire they Goths gained confidence

For some, the real estate market is a completely new country with its own language and culture.
People are not quite sure what a Real Estate Open House is. Certainly, if you have been invited to a
holiday Open House, you remember a gigantic cocktail party at a neighbor s house or a homey buffet
where friends and family are all trying to talk and hold plastic plates piled with a concoction of
edibles, at the same time. Well, Real Estate Open Houses are quite different. They are held for the
purpose of showing a house for sale to potential buyers. Sometimes there is food on hand but the
purpose of this outing is not social conviviality, but business. Here are some types. Category 1. The
Open House for Realtors Let s say, you have selected a particular real estate agent and you want her to
handle the sale of your house. If the agency belongs to a multiple listing organization (and most of
them do) they will thereupon hold an open house for the other agents in the area. These may include
agents from their own broker s office and agents from other offices. Your agent will ask you to get
your house in ship shape. That means she wants you to have everything cleaned (windows, carpets,
etc.) and have all the clutter put out of the way. She will probably ask you to leave the house, and to
take your dog, cat, and children with you. She may choose to provide some finger food and coffee for
the prospective agents (and ask you to foot part of the bill) or not, according to the

Mitosis Vs Meiosis Research Paper
Mitosis and meiosis are both types of cell divisions that have various similarities and differences.
They comparably associate with cytokinesis and form daughter cells however, meiosis occurs in
primordial diploid cells in animals, plants and fungi, whilst mitosis takes place in somatic cells in
every organism (Vidyasagar. A, 2015). Meiosis differs from mitosis as it undergoes a process known
as DNA recombination, during which genetic material interchange with chromosomes or various
regions of the same chromosome. DNA recombination is a common source of genetic variation.
Mitosis is the continuous process by which the body creates new cells to repair damaged or aging
membranes, fibers and tissues (Clare O Connor, 2008). The end result of mitosis are two genetically
identical diploid daughter cells, which develop from the single parent cell dividing. Conversely, the
meiosis cell divides into four haploid gametes each possessing half the number of chromosomes of the
parent cell (Alberts. B, 2010).

Motherhood In The Awakening
As shown through the events of The Awakening, Victorian society was preoccupied with the ideal of a
mother woman. Mother women, such as Madame Ratignolle, disregarded their own individuality, and
lived for nothing other than providing for their husbands and children. Edna Pontellier does not
conform to this notion, and is thought of by many, her own husband included, as a poor mother.
Regardless of the countless changes to the idea of motherhood and the societal role of women through
the years, Edna continues to be a poor mother.
According to clinical psychologist Jennifer Kunst, a modern day good mother is simply a good
enough mother who secures the healthy development of her young child, as defined from the works of

What Are The Reasons For The Age Of Exploration
The Age of Exploration and Conquests of the New World began in the 15th century by Columbus. He
was a Spanish explorer who went on the journey to seek for the Indies, but eventually ended up in the
Caribbean islands. The three causes for the Age of Exploration were the Glory, Gold, and God.
One of the major causes for the Age of Exploration was the search for glory by the European
explorers. All of the explorations began with the interest to earn glory by setting goals for finding
certain discoveries. According to a map from 1955, in 1513, Ponco de Leon discovered accidentally
Florida while he was in search of the fountain of youth , and he later earned the glory about this

According to a statistic from the 1995, Spain exported around 7 million of ounces of gold and silver to

the fact that they had a lot of gold as many of their buildings were fully built out of it, and he took all

Analysis Of Rock And Metal Music
Groups of individuals continue being misunderstood by society leading to exaggerated misconceptions
of what is true about them. Emos are one of the many groups who are strictly misunderstood because
of their appearance and personal preferences. They are usually portrayed as being in their teens,
having long black hair, and wearing skinny jeans with a shirt of their favorite bands. While the
description does apply to them, it does not always mean that every person dressed like that is
considered an Emo. The simple meaning of a person who is classified as an Emo is that they are very
emotional towards situations, the cause usually being a horrific past experience. Rock and metal music

Whether or not a person listens to emo music, writes emo poetry, or adopts an alternative lifestyle is a
personal decision that does not automatically have anything to do with the colour or cut of their hair (
Emo Scene Community Lifestyle Culture 2). What the author is trying to state is that we should not be
labeling an individual solely because they enjoy the fashion sense of a group. Just because someone
looks a specific way does not mean that it is okay to ridicule them in a manner that makes them
uncomfortable. It is okay for someone to dress or look how they desire, but what is not okay is for
them to be made fun of for what they like and enjoy.
When someone thinks of the word Emo, many different visuals appear in their mind. Most people
usually imagine a tall, slender, teenage male dressed in all black clothes with long, black hair. In the
article, What is emo? Why Emo? , the author describes them as, The fashion was simple: black tight
clothing with a dash of color thrown in their elbow length gloves or poetry covered converse. There
were the side bangs that produced what my friends in high school called the Cyclops look because it
covered one eye. And to follow up on the low self esteem, being thin was an obsession. If you wore

Motivation Theories
Introduction
If I ask any person who is successful in whatever he or she is doing what motivates him/her, very
likely the answer will be goals . Goal setting is extremely important to motivation and success.
We are still students but almost everybody of us has been working somewhere. I have few simple
questions for you. So what motivates you? What do you expect from your current position? What do
you think are the most important aspects to a job?
A good first step towards understanding what motivates people is to ask What do people want from
their jobs? We might answer, money or power but really it is very difficult to judge because depending

Safety needs Where the basic needs are reasonably satisfied we turn to thinking about protection from
danger, security and order so that we feel safe. These safety needs can be a concern for physical safety
but also covers psychological safety needs such as job security etc.
Social needs Once the first two needs are reasonably satisfied, social needs such as needing
acceptance, giving and receiving affection and belonging become things that people want
Ego needs Next comes people s need for achievement, self esteem, self confidence, respect and status
Self Actualization needs finally at the top of the hierarchy once all of the other levels have been
reasonably satisfied is the need to become the person that we feel that we are capable of becoming.
This means that we have achieved what we consider to be our very best.

laboratory session on bending moments and shear forces requires good understanding and sufficient
knowledge of axial forces. Bending is defined as a behavior of any structural element that undergoes
the external load, which is applied perpendicularly to longitudinal axis. That experiment helps us to
find the maximum load that can be applied to the beam with rectangular cross section. Moments are
calculated by using statics theory, or multiplying perpendicularly directed load by the respective
distance to the pivot point. 1.2 Objective The main objective ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Thar resulted in the maximum bending moment occurred. Moment was calculated in the same manner
as in the previous example with only the difference in direction for positive moment. ∑MR1(left)=
∑MR1(right) ; R1*0.2 P2*0.34=(R2 P3)*0.24; The resultant bending moment was found to be
maximum at the point where shear forces are minimal and thus equals to approximately +0.3856 N.m
Regarding the moment about the cut, here our group was able to find the minimum difference between
the measured and calculated values applying the same formulas and assumptions. The resultant
moment was calculated to be 0.225N.m , which is approximately 3% difference and thus can be
neglected. It is clear from the bending moment diagram that there is a point except ends where
bending moment equals to zero. Such a point have a different of bending moment on its two sides (left
and right) is known as a point of contra flexture. It can be easily found by using moment equation
about that point and equate it to zero. Taking that reference point as X , we obtain: ∑MX(left)=
∑MX(right); 5.26*(X 0.14) = 1.962*X Thus the point of contra flexture for those specific loads equals

11903 for the German Army, at the request of Kaiser Wilhelm II. The Schlieffen Plan was an

states were highly developed countries. These countries were the first states that shifted to
industrialization. All the four Asian tigers have a lot of people who are very educated and are perfect
in undertaking their tasks. These countries developed and implemented different policies and this
result in economic prosperity and tried to do them than any other state. For instance, Hong Kong and
Singapore became the masters of international finance while South Korea became perfect in
information technology. The four Asian tigers had maintained high economic growth since 1960,
fuelled by export to developed countries and rapid industrialization, which enabled these economies to

In a world of evolution, it is often found difficult to accept a new trade or skill that partially substitutes
a skill so commonly used and accepted today. As generations pass, people discover new things that
revival the beliefs of the past and handwriting is not exempt from this course of evolution. People
have hit that critical point of rivalry between handwriting and its challenger typing. Handwriting is a
skill known by people for centuries and even prior to handwriting people painted or carved to record
information. In today s world, typing keeps becoming more of a key player and triumphs over hand
writing in many aspects. It is imperative to understand the importance of typing, as much of what
college students and employees do ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Typing allows people to type at speeds unrivaled by handwriting. This speed can save people a lot of
time especially when it comes to larger manuscripts, such as papers, reports, or essays. This new
found speed allowed an influx of books, stories, and narratives by allowing the writer to not only
record as fast as the speed of thought, but to also focus more on the content of the work rather than the
legibility. Handwriting has better recall however typing is merely a different form of recording and as
such must be treated differently when studying. Overall typing is merely another form of recording
that breaks the speed constraints of the past, but as technology advances typing is merely a stepping
stone on a much, much larger

Investigating Electromagnets Essays
Investigating Electromagnets
Aim: The aim of the experiment is to investigate what affects the strength of an electromagnet.
Hypothesis: The more coils and electricity the more powerful the electromagnet becomes.
Prediction: When the voltage of electricity is increased I think that the nail will have more magnetism
allowing it to attract more paper clips, because with more voltage going through the circuit, it can then
make the electromagnet stronger.
Variables:
Independent The independent variable which we can control is the amount of voltage we put through
the electromagnet. In this case we have to change the amount of voltage to 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 volts.
Dependant The dependant variable is the amount of paper clips ... Show more content on
Helpwriting.net ...
Conclusion: My results told me that as I raised the voltage the electromagnet gained strength and
attracted minimal paper clips, until I raised the volts to 8, 10 and 12 and that was when the
electromagnet really started to pick up a lot more paperclips.
The trend showed that for every volt of electricity generated it attracted approximately one paper clip
per volt. Therefore the trend showed that as the number of volts increased so too did the number of
paper clips it attracted.
Discussion: It would have a major affect if there were more turns in the wire because the more times
you coil the wire around the iron object the more electricity and power it gives the electromagnet. The
effect of changing the core would have possibly made the electromagnet weaker because other metal
aren t as strong as iron. The effect of increasing the voltage would have made an electromagnet
stronger because as mentioned above the more electricity and the more coils you add the stronger you
make the magnet.
Evaluation: It was confusing trying to set the equipment up because we had to change a lot of things
that were different to what our science book said because we didn t have enough equipment to be able
to do the proper experiment so we had to improvise.
There maybe some errors in my method with people understanding my explanation on how to do the
experiment because the instructions may be interpreted differently. In my

Application Of A Handwriting From A
Abstract :
The Objective of this project is to recognise english handwriting from a given document image. In this
report we have used 40point feature extraction to extract pattern from the characters and then use this
data to train artificial neural network. This system is very successful in recognition of handwritten
characters. Hence this system will be suitable to convert handwritten text into text document.
Introduction :
Optical Character Recognition is one of the most researching field in recent years. It has numerous
applications in the field of automation and advancement of machine interface with man. Handwritten
recognition is one of the challenging and fascinating area for research in Optical
Character Recognition. Online and Offline are two modes for handwritten recognition. In Offline
method, writing is captured by scanner and final text is formed. The data formed from 40point feature
extraction is used to feed artificial neural network to train it and produce more accurate result. Several
applications such as document reading, mail sorting, postal address recognition and bank processing
require offline handwritten recognition. As a result, offline method is very active area for research for
more accurate solutions. In this project we used english alphabet characters to train artificial neural
network and test its accuracy of character recognition.
Previous Works :
In recent years, many research papers have been published in the field of optical character

The Gift Of The Magi Quote Analysis
There are some things money can t buy. Proverbs. I was inspired by this quote because it is true. It s
true because one of the things money can t buy is happiness. The Gift of the Magi shows the reader
that two people who truly love each other will sacrifice their own personal treasures for one another.
This sort of relates to the short story, The Necklace , because it shows that a person who truly loves
someone will do anything to try and make the person they love happy. Money doesn t buy happiness
because there is more to happiness than materialistic things.
Money cannot buy happiness because in the story, The Gift of the Magi , it shows the reader that
materialistic things can t make Jim as happy as his wife. Also, it shows that when two people love
each other, they only need each other to have happiness. For example, The Gift of the Magi states,
Dell, said he, let s put our Christmas gifts away and keep em awhile. They re too nice to use just at
present. This example from the story shows that he didn t make a big deal out of the gifts they got for
each other because materialistic things do not make him as happy as much as his wife, Dell, makes
him. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Loisel finally confesses to Mme. Forestier about the necklace. In the story The Necklace , Mme.
Loisel says to Mme Forestier, Do you remember that diamond necklace you loaned me for the
ministry? Yes, but what about it? Mme. Forestier said. Well I lost it. This example shows that Mme.
Loisel finally told Mme Forestier the truth about losing the necklace. Also, Mme Loisel had to realize
the hard way that money doesn t buy you happiness. Even though Mme Loisel was happy at first, she
ended up being more miserable and more poor than she was in the beginning of the

Semihazah Watchers
In the Book of Enoch, the Watchers are the fallen angels, also referred to as the Sons of God, who
have sinned by giving false revelations and engaging into sexual relations with females. The Watchers
therefore, crossed the boundaries between the sacred and the profane, causing the creation of the
giants, Nephilim. The leaders of the Watchers who lead them into sins are Semihazah and Azazel.
Azazel was the leader of the improper revelations, of showing and telling the wrong teachings. This is
a sin because it is the providence of God to deliver revelations, not the job of the fallen angels. This is
critical because the false revelations would make it difficult for God s followers to follow the right
path to remaining pure. Semihaza was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Qumran was a settlement inhabited by the Essenes. The Essenes were a strict, isolationist, Judaism
group that believed themselves to be the right group and all other groups were wrong. This resulted in
their isolation from other groups because they were unsuccessful in convincing other groups to live by
their standards. The Essenes expected that the end was near. The Hasmoneans can be viewed as
Jewish terrorists or freedom fighters that wanted to establish a Jewish state. They were successful in
overthrowing Greek rule and establishing a Jewish state. The Hasmoneans also claimed king and
priestly roles. However, kings were only supposed to be from the line of David and priestly roles were
only to be fulfilled from the lineage of Zadok. Therefore, the Hasmonean rule was breaking covenant
rules because its rulers did not abide by the proper lineages. The Teacher of Righteousness, who
served as the official mediator of revelation, taught that what the Hasmoneans were doing was wrong
and that it would lead to the end. The Essenes viewed themselves as the Sons of Light, representing
the community and goodness. They viewed all outsiders as the Sons of Darkness because they were
believed to be evil and demonic. The Sons of Darkness were other Jews who did not follow the same
rules of the Qumran community as well as the Romans. The Dead Sea Scrolls differ in the apocalyptic
view from

I Robot Research Paper
The three laws, Law I: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human
being to come to harm. Law II: A robot must obey orders given by human beings except where such
orders would conflict with the First Law. Law III: A robot must protect its own existence as long as
such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws. This is the very essence of I, Robot
(2004) by Alex Proyas a world created to co exist with robots. Man made robots which signifies the
result of a creative and innovative fast paced world full of greed and consumption. What appears as
utopia is really a dystopia and not unlike the world we live in today. Just because something is
attractive doesn t mean that there isn t something unattractive ... Show more content on

Detective spooner describes it perfectly when he talks to the robot named Sonny who s programmed
to have free will and true human emotion which is beyond the three laws. Sonny states I have dreams.
And Spooner implies. Humans have dreams, even dogs have dreams, but not you. You are just a
machine, imitation of life. Can a robot write a symphony? Can a robot turn a canvas into a beautiful
masterpiece? (2004). Human have the ability to create, to build things, to bring things to life. But our
creativity can be dangerous if we don t use it in a constructive manner. Doctor Lanning built a robot
that breaks the thee laws . This society is so easy to believe that there is no possibility of a malfunction
or error much less lack in the idea that the humans who created these advancements have the
capability to expand beyond their creation. Whether laws are in place or not, humans have the natural
ability to produce error. If we create something it too has the ability of error because of the abilities of
its creator. This society places an abundance of trust in their robots that they ignore the fact that their
development has taken from human jobs, human qualities and abilities to function independently.
Likewise, our world today is leading into a far advanced technological state. But our creative minds
might not know what we are really getting into and are we prepared if everything goes haywire? In I
robot Dr. Lanning created a system called VIKI, Virtual Interactive Kinaesthetic Interface used by
USR robotic company. VIKI is a super computer that controls all NS5 robots. However, VIKI
malfunctions and becomes too concerned about human safety that she programs killer robots to wipe
out humanity as a logical means of saving humans from destroying themselves. To protect humanity,
some humans must be sacrificed. To insure your future, some freedoms must be

  • 2. Character Analysis Of Simon In Lord Of The Flies In William Golding s Lord of the Flies a group of boys is trapped on a jungle island after a horrific accident. During their time on this island, the boys struggle to fight against the ferocious side of human nature in trying to avoid turning against each other. The character Simon is introduced and is immediately portrayed as a kind, sensitive and logical boy. Living on this island starts to have a negative effect on the boys and fights begin to break out over leadership. The little boys speak of the beast , and the boys fear and paranoia causes them to turn on each other and act similar to animals. Only Simon realizes that the beast is not real, and that the only real beast on the island is the savageness of human nature. In realizing this and not being affected by the influence of the beast, Simon shows he is more logical and is less savage than the rest of the boys and he demonstrates that he does not belong on this godless island of unthinking boys. When the boys first crash on the island, they attempt to maintain an illusion of civilization with meetings and try to define roles in their miniature society. They elect Ralph as their leader and build a signal fire in order to alert ships that they are trapped on the island. Simon tries to maintain order and care for the little children on the island by feeding them and protecting them from the older boys. Simon s appearance is described as a skinny, vivid little boy (Lord of the Flies, page 16) and he is shown to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Decisional Diction In Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken Poetry Essay The Road Not Taken In the narrative poem, The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost utilize literary devices to magnified the concept of decisional dilemma and present a message on paths chosen in the course of life. Robert Frost implemented strategic diction, sensory imagery, and figurative language that enhances the content portrayed in the poem itself. The poem focus around the turmoil of the two roads the speaker has to choose one being a commonly taken path and the other one isn t commonly taken is filled with discomfort and unexpected nature . The speaker eventually selected the route of uncertainty, yet it develops the notion of individuality that opposes the influence of socially uniformed opinion. Robert Frost incorporates specific usage of dictions throughout the poem to enhance meaning, while exerting his attitude in the context of the literature. In the first line of The Road Not Taken, the term diverged is placed after Two roads to introduce the story at a location where the speaker is faced with a decision. The term word diverge projects the image that the road is separated with the results differ based on the route the speaker chooses. The speaker responds with I could not travel both in line 2 of the poem. The term not in this case elaborates on the fact that the speaker is unable to foresee the outcome of both route. A significant component on why the speaker is apprehensive on deciding which road he will ultimately take. Robert Frost incorporates an assonance rhythm in each of his stanza with the last words of the first, third, and fourth lines having the same ending syllable, as well as second and fourth line respectively. The usage of an assonance in this poem represents the movement of each step that the speaker takes as he progressively walk in the path of life he chooses. • 7. An Explanation Of How Billing And Coding Works For... B. An explanation of how billing and coding works for healthcare services Medical billing and coding are two closely related aspects of the modern health care industry. Both practices are involved in the immensely important reimbursement cycle, which ensures that health care providers are paid for the services they perform. For the sake of simplicity, let s divide the two at the moment and look at them as separate pieces of a larger process. We ll begin with medical coding. Medical Coding Medical coding, at its most basic, is a little like translation. It s the coder s job to take something that s written one way (a doctor s diagnosis, for example, or a prescription for a certain medication) and translate it as accurately as possible into a numeric or alphanumeric code. For every injury, diagnosis, and medical procedure, there is a corresponding code. There are thousands and thousands of codes for medical procedures, outpatient procedures, and diagnoses. Let s start with a quick example of medical coding in action. A patient walks into a doctor s office with a hacking cough, high production of mucus or sputum, and a fever. A nurse asks the patient their symptoms and performs some initial tests, and then the doctor examines the patient and diagnoses bronchitis. The doctor then prescribes medication to the patient. Every part of this visit is recorded by the doctor or someone in the healthcare provider s office. It s the medical coder s job to translate every bit of relevant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The theoretical aim of this thesis is to introduce euthanasia, the complex role of the physician with physician assisted suicide (PAS) under the argument that it is not an issue of passive or active. Nor right or wrong. Euthanasia is defined as the act or practice of killing or allowing someone to die on grounds of mercy (Morally Disputed Issues: A Reader, 341). In its complexion euthanasia is not merely a dead or alive decision as it truly is at its core goal. There is passive euthanasia which is defined as withholding treatment such as a ventilator or fluids. There is active euthanasia which is prescribing or initiating a substance that would allow a person to stop living. We also have to consider voluntary euthanasia a patient seeks to ... One would need to be autonomous to be approved for PAS and as such we can infer that the patient is able to make peace, tie up loose ends, find comfort in religion, and be comforted with family before being consumed by the disease. Giving the patient the option to die with dignity vs. naturally where time and treatments slowly deteriorate the mind and body can offer freedom from suffering for the patient and family. For example if a patient that felt ill and after medical testing receives a diagnosis that she has a rare systemic cancer and at best has six months to live. That patient then could with the support of her family discuss everything that needs to be taken care of prior to the advancement of the disease. After taking care of business, the patient could discuss with her family and friends ways to create special days leading up to her last day. This option could give the family, as well as the patient, the possibility to say goodbye before the disease has removed autonomy and personality. This patient s family would not have to watch their daughter, wife, sister, or mother suffer greatly to the point she screams for God to take her. Operation Iraqi Freedom And Operational Design In order to develop effective solutions for complex military problems, the Joint Community within the US Military adopted the methodology of Operational Design in Joint Doctrine. This methodology addresses the concept of complex, ill structured or wicked problems. In fact, Lessons Learned as a result of operations conducted over the last 15 years played an instrumental role in the continued development of this doctrine. Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) illustrates a perfect case study for evaluation utilizing this methodology. First, this paper looks at how planners and commanders interpreted pre invasion civilian policy guidance, their understanding of the current operational environment, and how these commanders defined the problem. Next, it identifies the strengths and weaknesses of the initial approach. After discussing this initial approach, this paper examines how commanders assessed the campaign and refined the approach to include how the reframing occurred. Lastly, it provides examples of how these lessons learned shaped current joint planning policy and doctrine. • 26. A Study On Image Detection Chapter 3. Image Detection 1. Introduction Using right algorithm, can make image sensor sense or detect practically anything. Image sensors are one of the important sensors been used in robotics industry because they are so flexible, but there are two drawbacks with these kind of sensors: 1)they output lots of data, dozens of megabytes per second, and 2) processing this amount of data can overwhelm many processors. And even if the processor can keep up with the data, much of its processing power won t be available for other tasks. Pixy cmucam5 solved these two problems by intelligent way, it faced and solved these problems by paring a powerful dedicated processor with the image sensor. Now pixy can processes images from the image sensor and only sends the useful information (e.g. position of object been assigned before by giving its x and y orientation) to whatever microcontroller you have. This microcontroller then use this data as input then process it to the actuators. Pixy does this data analyzing and processing at rate (50Hz). And information which processed by pixy can available through several interfaces: UART serial, SPI, I2C, digital out, or analog out. So it is easy to communicate with pixy with Arduino or any other microcontroller and at the same time still have a very large or plenty of CPU available for other tasks. • 27. The Pros And Cons Of Steroids In Sports Over the past century using steroids or performance enhancing drugs has been a massive issue in today s athletic society. Using steroids is unfair to athletes and their fans, because it gives certain sportsman an unfair advantage. Some athletes try to win at all costs even if sometimes that cost is there career, achievements, and even there lifes. Doping, or as it is known on the streets, juicing does no more than increase an individual s body mass. As stated from the New York State Health Department Anabolic steroids help build muscle tissue and increase body mass by acting like the body s natural male hormone, testosterone. However, steroids cannot improve an athlete s agility or skill (Anabolic). This means that no matter how strong or powerful the steroids are it doesn t make the athlete a true competitor. Most athletes that use this drug are looking for a quick and easier way to get an advantage on their competitors. In saying so it s not the fact of an athlete getting big that makes them want to juice , but it is the idea and the results of it making them better stronger and more competitive athletes. There are quite a few reasons that using steroids is illegal in major league, and worldwide sports. For starters, the drug itself inflicts intense damage on the users body. These effects include strokes, cancers, blood clots, impaired liver functions, liver tumors, stunted skeletal growth, hep B and C, and HIV (Anabolic). The list of side ... • 30. Mitosis Vs Meiosis Research Paper Mitosis and meiosis are both types of cell divisions that have various similarities and differences. They comparably associate with cytokinesis and form daughter cells however, meiosis occurs in primordial diploid cells in animals, plants and fungi, whilst mitosis takes place in somatic cells in every organism (Vidyasagar. A, 2015). Meiosis differs from mitosis as it undergoes a process known as DNA recombination, during which genetic material interchange with chromosomes or various regions of the same chromosome. DNA recombination is a common source of genetic variation. Mitosis is the continuous process by which the body creates new cells to repair damaged or aging membranes, fibers and tissues (Clare O Connor, 2008). The end result of mitosis are two genetically identical diploid daughter cells, which develop from the single parent cell dividing. Conversely, the meiosis cell divides into four haploid gametes each possessing half the number of chromosomes of the parent cell (Alberts. B, 2010). Bending is defined as a behavior of any structural element that undergoes the external load, which is applied perpendicularly to longitudinal axis. The trend showed that for every volt of electricity generated it attracted approximately one paper clip per volt. Therefore the trend showed that as the number of volts increased so too did the number of paper clips it attracted. Discussion: It would have a major affect if there were more turns in the wire because the more times you coil the wire around the iron object the more electricity and power it gives the electromagnet. The effect of changing the core would have possibly made the electromagnet weaker because other metal aren t as strong as iron. The effect of increasing the voltage would have made an electromagnet stronger because as mentioned above the more electricity and the more coils you add the stronger you make the magnet. Evaluation: It was confusing trying to set the equipment up because we had to change a lot of things that were different to what our science book said because we didn t have enough equipment to be able to do the proper experiment so we had to improvise. There maybe some errors in my method with people understanding my explanation on how to do the experiment because the instructions may be interpreted differently. In my

In this report we have used 40point feature extraction to extract pattern from the characters and then use this data to train artificial neural network. This system is very successful in recognition of handwritten characters. Hence this system will be suitable to convert handwritten text into text document. Introduction : Optical Character Recognition is one of the most researching field in recent years. It has numerous applications in the field of automation and advancement of machine interface with man. Handwritten recognition is one of the challenging and fascinating area for research in Optical Character Recognition. Online and Offline are two modes for handwritten recognition. In Offline method, writing is captured by scanner and final text is formed. The data formed from 40point feature extraction is used to feed artificial neural network to train it and produce more accurate result. Several applications such as document reading, mail sorting, postal address recognition and bank processing require offline handwritten recognition. As a result, offline method is very active area for research for more accurate solutions. In this project we used english alphabet characters to train artificial neural network and test its accuracy of character recognition. Previous Works : In recent years, many research papers have been published in the field of optical character ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Gift Of The Magi Quote Analysis There are some things money can t buy. Proverbs. I was inspired by this quote because it is true. It s true because one of the things money can t buy is happiness. The Gift of the Magi shows the reader that two people who truly love each other will sacrifice their own personal treasures for one another. This sort of relates to the short story, The Necklace , because it shows that a person who truly loves someone will do anything to try and make the person they love happy. Money doesn t buy happiness because there is more to happiness than materialistic things. Money cannot buy happiness because in the story, The Gift of the Magi , it shows the reader that materialistic things can t make Jim as happy as his wife. Also, it shows that when two people love each other, they only need each other to have happiness. For example, The Gift of the Magi states, Dell, said he, let s put our Christmas gifts away and keep em awhile. They re too nice to use just at present. This example from the story shows that he didn t make a big deal out of the gifts they got for each other because materialistic things do not make him as happy as much as his wife, Dell, makes him. ... • 47. Semihazah Watchers In the Book of Enoch, the Watchers are the fallen angels, also referred to as the Sons of God, who have sinned by giving false revelations and engaging into sexual relations with females. The Watchers therefore, crossed the boundaries between the sacred and the profane, causing the creation of the giants, Nephilim. The leaders of the Watchers who lead them into sins are Semihazah and Azazel. Azazel was the leader of the improper revelations, of showing and telling the wrong teachings. This is a sin because it is the providence of God to deliver revelations, not the job of the fallen angels. This is critical because the false revelations would make it difficult for God s followers to follow the right path to remaining pure. Semihaza was the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Qumran was a settlement inhabited by the Essenes. The Essenes were a strict, isolationist, Judaism group that believed themselves to be the right group and all other groups were wrong. This resulted in their isolation from other groups because they were unsuccessful in convincing other groups to live by their standards. The Essenes expected that the end was near. The Hasmoneans can be viewed as Jewish terrorists or freedom fighters that wanted to establish a Jewish state. They were successful in overthrowing Greek rule and establishing a Jewish state. The Hasmoneans also claimed king and priestly roles. However, kings were only supposed to be from the line of David and priestly roles were only to be fulfilled from the lineage of Zadok. Therefore, the Hasmonean rule was breaking covenant rules because its rulers did not abide by the proper lineages. The Teacher of Righteousness, who served as the official mediator of revelation, taught that what the Hasmoneans were doing was wrong and that it would lead to the end. The Essenes viewed themselves as the Sons of Light, representing the community and goodness. They viewed all outsiders as the Sons of Darkness because they were believed to be evil and demonic. The Sons of Darkness were other Jews who did not follow the same rules of the Qumran community as well as the Romans. The Dead Sea Scrolls differ in the apocalyptic view from ... Law II: A robot must obey orders given by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. Law III: A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Laws. This is the very essence of I, Robot (2004) by Alex Proyas a world created to co exist with robots. Man made robots which signifies the result of a creative and innovative fast paced world full of greed and consumption. What appears as utopia is really a dystopia and not unlike the world we live in today. Just because something is attractive doesn t mean that there isn t something unattractive ... Detective spooner describes it perfectly when he talks to the robot named Sonny who s programmed to have free will and true human emotion which is beyond the three laws. Sonny states I have dreams. And Spooner implies. Humans have dreams, even dogs have dreams, but not you. You are just a machine, imitation of life. Can a robot write a symphony? Can a robot turn a canvas into a beautiful masterpiece? (2004). Human have the ability to create, to build things, to bring things to life. But our creativity can be dangerous if we don t use it in a constructive manner. Doctor Lanning built a robot that breaks the thee laws . This society is so easy to believe that there is no possibility of a malfunction or error much less lack in the idea that the humans who created these advancements have the capability to expand beyond their creation. Whether laws are in place or not, humans have the natural ability to produce error. If we create something it too has the ability of error because of the abilities of its creator. This society places an abundance of trust in their robots that they ignore the fact that their development has taken from human jobs, human qualities and abilities to function independently. Likewise, our world today is leading into a far advanced technological state. But our creative minds might not know what we are really getting into and are we prepared if everything goes haywire? In I robot Dr. Lanning created a system called VIKI, Virtual Interactive Kinaesthetic Interface used by USR robotic company. VIKI is a super computer that controls all NS5 robots. However, VIKI malfunctions and becomes too concerned about human safety that she programs killer robots to wipe out humanity as a logical means of saving humans from destroying themselves.
