The Squirrel Defense Initiative
Originated in 1996, due to the frustrations of squirrels destroying Richard Walsh s bird feeder on his
new deck, Ed Walsh, Richard s brother came up with the concept of building a solar bird feeder to
help Richard out. The concept of a bird feeder that allowed birds to continue to eat the bird seed, while
preventing the squirrels from reaching the food and destroying the feeders, soon became an obsession
for Ed. What once originated with a car battery developed over the years to a solar cell, and was
successful until the squirrels discovered that they could eat early in the morning or late evenings
before the battery charged. Bo Haeberle became involved in the bird feeder project after he overheard
how much trouble Ed was having ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When asked about a business plan they did not have one even though they all knew that one was
needed and had been asked before. This lack of commitment to the company could be their downfall.
They need to get someone hired that is able to help them with the business aspect of the company
since they were committed to the production end.
It wasn t until 2003 that the company finally developed a business plan and in September of that year
due to their efforts placed 5th in the TEI Fuel Business Plan Competition (Yelp, 2004 2014). Triad
Entrepreneurial Initiative had been set up to focus on high profile business plan competitions. It lasted
only about four year before it funding support ended and they shut down, however the Greensboro
Chamber of Commerce, part of the Greensboro Partnership reformed it into its own Entrepreneurship
initiative. The initiative helps service providers in a different categories, ranging from just getting
started to Government Contracts (Journal, 2013).
By 2007 after redesigning the solar bird feeder and cutting cost SDI was able to complete the first run
of 1600 units, at the same time field testing new models with green manufacturing techniques.

Positive And Negative Aspects Of Living In An...
We are told we live in a network society. But is this just good news? What are the positive and
negative aspects of living in a highly interconnected world? Discuss with reference to techno optimists
and techno pessimists.
We live in a highly interconnected world due to the increase in technology in our everyday lives,
Marshall McLuhan calls this world interconnected by an electronic nervous system a global village
(McLuhan n.d.). Theorists for example Manuel Castells call this new social structure the network
society he defines the network society as a social structure made of networks in all the key dimensions
of social organisation and social practice (Castells and Castells 2010). The internet of things is a
networked world of connected devices, objects, and people (Greengard 2015). This technology has the
potential to help people in many ways but could it also be used to spy on users in particular the
controversy around Samsung smart TV s.
The Samsung smart TV includes; voice recognition, auto detection of devices plugged in, smart view
which connects with your phone (Samsung TV: SUHD, Smart TV n.d.) and some versions also
included motion control. A techno optimist would say all this technology increases the user experience
and ease of usage. Users can navigate the system with a small gesture or word without having to get
up for the remote. This is the lean back experience and it is enhanced by making it easier and more
natural interacting with the technology, to heighten the overall viewing experience.( Visualizing the
Future of User Experience | Smart TV n.d.). The Samsung smart hub also allows users access to
multiple apps and streaming sites all in one place(Samsung Smart Hub n.d.). Convergence of media
platforms blending of the media, telecommunications and computer industries (Grant and Wilkinson
2009) and uniting them in one place benefits the user as they only need one device to access
everything on.
Opposing this view many may argue that technology is making us lazy and taking away control from
the user. Marshall McLuhan famously quoted the medium is the message meaning that the medium
has a greater impact on society than the message delivered by it. Consequently, the smart TV s

A SURVEY ON VIRTUAL PRIVATE NETWORK SECURITY AND ITS TECHNOLOGY
Abstract
Virtual personal Network (VPN) may be a communication network that provides secure knowledge
transmission in an unsecured or public network by mistreatment any combination of technologies. A
virtual association is created across the users who are geographically spread and networks over a
shared or public network, just like the internet. even supposing the info is transmitted during a public
network, VPN provides a bearing as if the info is transmitted through personal connection. This paper
provides a survey report on VPN security and its technologies. Keywords: Tunneling; Protocols;

knowledge encapsulation is finished by wrapping the info with a header, that provides routing data.
This method is named as tunneling. to supply confidentiality to the encapsulated knowledge, the info
is secured by encoding. once knowledge reaches a tunnel finish purpose, the encapsulated knowledge
is decrypted and forwarded to its final destination purpose. VPN permits organizations to attach to
their branch offices or to alternative firms over a public network whereas maintaining secure
communications. The VPN association across the web logically operates as a good space network
(WAN) link between the sites. The secure association across the web seems to the user as {a
personal|a personal|a non public} network communication despite the actual fact that this
communication happens over a public internetwork thus the name virtual private network. 2. VPN
Security an outline
Security is that the most significant and important issue for firms worldwide. Organizations want a
secure and reliable infrastructure for his or her systems to mitigate the chance of malicious activity
from each external and internal sources. Organizations worldwide have major security considerations
specifically knowledge access from the remote web site
Infection by viruses
Intrusion by hackers
Disruption within the storage network
To overcome the higher than mentioned threats and vulnerabilities within the network, VPN provides

Technology vs Organic Essay example
Humanity s timeline illustrates the past, present and future of human beings; commencing nearly
200,000 years ago when Homo sapiens first diverged from its ancestors (Evans,1998). For the next
188,000 years humans were content to forge and live within the constructs of a hunter gatherer
societal organization. Approximately 12,000 years ago agricultural systems began appearing in
various places around the world. An astonishingly short period of time later the Agricultural
Revolution transformed human ecology, social organization, demography, culture, and religion
(Fagan: 2007). Man wholeheartedly embraced the sweeping changes bought on by agriculture and
domestication, which definitely proved key to the long run success of agriculture and ... Show more

The pronounced change from hunting and gathering to agriculture and domestication can be
simplistically designated the Agricultural or Neolithic Revolution (Pringle:1998). The catalytic
developments of the Neolithic Revolution mark a major turning point in the history of humankind.
The resulting animal and plant domestication established the foundation on which modern civilization
was built. Agriculture is a uniquely human activity and is perhaps the first activity for which humans
developed technology. Technology, understood as the use of farming tools and techniques, is an
indispensable component in agriculture. In the most general sense, technology permits humans to
increase the capture and efficient utilization of solar radiation that drives primary plant production that
is the basis of the human food and fiber chain (Porter, Rasmusen: 2009). The steadfast characterization
of human nature can be viewed as a historical constant, while the prevailing woes and dilemmas
facing humanity can be viewed as a contemporary variable. Similarly to an algebraic equation, clever
manipulation of the variable and constant portion can lead to discovering the value of the variable or
as in the case of humanity; it can provide valuable insight on complex problems based on the past
experiences of people who are innately

Johannes Gutenberg s Invention Of The Printing Press
Prior to 1450, books were reproduced by monks through the painstaking process of copying them by
hand. This made books very rare and expensive, meaning members of the lower and middle classes
could not easily obtain them. However, in 1450, Johannes Gutenberg changed all of this with his
invention of the printing press. Within 50 years of its invention, the printing press was found in all
major cities in Europe (Lauer, 2001). Today, more and more books are published each day. In 1996,
there were 68,175 brand new books published, displaying the long term impact and importance of
book printing and production ( International Flow , 2005). The invention of the printing press was the

The spread of ideas was not limited to the fields of math and science; however, religion benefited
greatly from the printing press. In fact, the Gutenberg Bible was the first book ever printed by
Johannes Gutenberg s device ( Printing , 2013). This benefited the Holy Roman Empire greatly. With
the ability to print the bible, people who were not clergymen were able to obtain the scripture and the
influence of the church expanded across
Europe. This sharing of ideas allowed them to achieve the power they had, being one of the strongest
empires in history. Ironically, Martin Luther s 95 Theses , the document where he called out the Holy
Roman Empire for its corruption and flaws, also gained traction because of the printing press. Martin
Luther had numerous copies of his theses printed and posted in different places, which spread his
ideas across Germany and then Europe to those affected by the
Holy Roman Churches ruling (Lauer, 2001). Overall, no matter what an idea supported or encouraged,
the printing press allowed it to be shared across towns and countries.
The printing press lead to the improvement of worldwide knowledge and education

Living under the threat of deportation is something in which most do not struggle with. Many
undocumented immigrants are growing up in the United States that live in fear of being deported.
Legislation has been proposed in the United States to try and protect these young undocumented
immigrants and help them get an education by introducing a bipartisan bill called the Development,
Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act. Though this law helps out those individual students who
grew up in the United States by giving them a chance to contribute to our country s well being by

China is largest and developed country in the world and where piracy prevails since very long and still
to continue. Before it was in the form of material copying and today it exists as digital copying.
Therefore, there is a strong call for a more powerful copyright protection. Piracy is a serious ethical
problem in China. China is getting more concern on the piracy now than the past. Piracy is an illegal
duplication and distribution and selling of copies of the materials copyrighted, without the permission
by law ( Digital piracy, 2011). Today, the term is universal and is used not only in relation to books but
also for music, movies, software, pharmaceuticals and inventions as well as other intellectual
properties.( Adrian Johns, 2011),
China has more complexity than other countries with its distinctive cultural, political and social

Basis Of International Trade Essay
International trade is historically the oldest and most widespread form of external economic relations.
It is a movement of goods that represents a foreign exchange, that is, goods cross the boundaries of the
individual countries or economic unit. Foreign trade links the country s internal economy with the
world economy and fulfills important functions in the process of developing the productive forces and
international division of labor. (Markusen, 1995)
The basis of foreign trade is the realization of imports and exports of goods and services between the
domestic economy and other countries. The theoretical basis of foreign trade policy consists of
individual theories of foreign trade, which have been formed since the 18th century. These theories
were protectionist or liberal, depending on the objectives and the tools used. Each state has its own
foreign trade policy. Foreign trade policy to be defined as a set of principles and measures undertaken
by the state in the field of foreign trade using trade policy instruments. (Markusen, 1995)
The history of foreign trade relations in the world economy is linked to a dispute between the two
basic ties of trade policy. The first type is protectionism, whose supporters maintain a protectionist
approach and try to enforce trade barriers to foreign competition. The second type is liberalism, whose
supporters advocate free trade. (Reuvid Sherlock, 2004)
Free trade is defined as a system, where goods or services flows across the

Junie B. Jones is a twenty eight book series written by Barbara Park for ages five through nine. The
series had been under close scrutiny due to the main character Junie B. s lack of maturity and self
discipline, also, her language and mispronunciation of words. There are some that even believe that
Junie B. actually has some form of learning disability. But what if all of her disciplinary issues, her
shouting in class, her immaturity, and even some of her speech impediments stem from not her own
learning incompetencies, but her teachers . In a classroom a teacher has the ability to either build a
student s confidence and sense of industry or their skepticism and inferiority. The main way in which
they can do this is through their teaching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Taking what happened in the interactions and decided what category of class management was being
utilized out of our possibilities. Also, how Junie B. reacted to each style of teaching whether is was a
positive or negative interactions and whether it had a positive or negative reaction correlating with it.
After deciding what our topic was going to deal with we decided to pull examples from real life that
also illustrated our main ideas, so, the group also pulled examples of classroom management from
bulletin boards seen in classrooms at the schools Raymond F Brandes and Creston that included clip
system of disciplinary action, expectations of reading comprehension in grade levels, and a smiley to
frown face disciplinary system. Within the four books we found that between the interactions of three
different teachers Junie B. was exposed to PEP styes of teaching, authoritative styles of teaching,
authoritarian styles of teaching, and permissive styles of teaching.
Keeping in mind that this table is only based off of four books in the Junie B. series and the entire
series is twenty eight books in total with eighteen set when Junie B. is in Kindergarten interacting with
Mrs. and sometimes Principal, while only ten books in the series take place when Junie B. is in first
grade interacting with Mr. Scary its is safe to say that each young reader, if they read the entire series,
is getting a heavier dose of permissive, and authoritarian class management representation

At Risk Youth And Afterschool Programs Recreation Programing
At Risk Youth and Afterschool Programs Recreation Programing In the United States and developed
countries around the world, it is generally accepted that schools play a tremendous role in the lives of
children, youth, and families in urban, rural, and suburban communities with populations of widely
varying socioeconomic resources. However; in some communities there seems to be a clear need to
provide more program support for organizations, and to provide programs and services for hours
outside the parameters of the school day. In these communities, at risk child and youth populations
and their families require more from the agencies and organizations that strive to serve the needs of

According to Howard K. David, and Lorraine C. Peniston, writers for the American Institutes for
Research Pelavin Research Center, and Center for Effective Collaboration and Practice acknowledges,
The term at risk, in a broad sense, refers to youth who, due to certain characteristics or experiences,
are statistically more likely than other youth to encounter certain problems legal, social, financial,
educational, emotional, and health in the future (qtd. At Risk and Delinquent Youth: Multiple Federal
Programs Raise Efficiency Report, March 1996, 1). According to the Development Services Group
(DSG), Research findings estimate that 35 percent of 12 year olds is regularly left by themselves while
their parents are at work (1). DSG concludes, Justifying the need for more programs to address this
supervision gap is the apparent peak of violent crime in the 4 hours following the end of the school
day (roughly 2 6 p.m.) (4). Statistics, data, and anecdotal research provided on this topic reveal a
relevant opportunity to address today s need for structured prevention programming for children and
youth through parks and recreation programs. As we continue to see problems with these at risk child
and youth populations in communities across our country, we can see other social, economic,

Disproportionality In Prison Population
The film 13th gives way to issues that continue to plague our nation. This idea that the worlds prison
population is disproportional to that of the overall world population. According to this film, Five
percent of the worlds population makes up twenty five percent of the prison population (DuVernay,
2016). This statistic is astounding and due in part to, according to the film, the exclusion of criminals
from the thirteenth amendments abolishment of slavery. The disproportionality in prison population,
not only of people but also of the race make up of people, compared to their world population
numbers is something that was started many years ago and still to this day, 2016, is an issue worth

about the legality or illegality of prison enslavement (Gilmore, 2000). This racial disproportionality in
the prison population continues to rage on in this nation, and this film, 13th demonstrated just why

`` Happiness Is A Warm Planet `` By Thomas Gale Moore
Happiness Is a Warm planet , by Thomas Gale Moore is an article concerning global warming. In the
article, Moore claims that Global warming, if it were to occur, would probably be beneficial to most
Americans . The main points that Moore explains in the article are that everyone will benefit from the
rising temperatures, the cost of fighting CO2 emissions cost too much,, and that America will pay the
price from third world countries not being able to keep up with new conditions. Essentially, his idea is
that global warming would have a positive outcome. He believes that nothing should be done to stop

Destructive storms, rising sea levels, and the problems with the Arctic heating up are just some of the
multiple ways that global warming will hurt our planet. Moore mentioned in his article that human life
would be better because of the warm temperatures. Yes, it is true that a lot of people do enjoy a warm
day to a cold day, but what Moore seems to have left out is that for us to enjoy anything, we need to
have an Earth that is not dangerous to human health. One of the first problems associated with climate
change and human health is the toll extreme heat can take. It can cause heat strokes, dehydration, and
cardiovascular issues. People living in more northern parts are at a higher risk for this because their
bodies are not used to coping with high temperatures. Moore stated in this article that heating costs
would go down, but forgot to mention the opposite of heating. Air conditioning would need to be
installed to make homes an environment that people can live in without encountering the conditions
listed above. Air quality is also a factor that would worsen if the temperatures continue to grow.
Wildfires would become more common, which would lead to the air we breath becoming
contaminated from pollutants. Water vapor levels will rise with global warming are expected and will

In this ambitious work, Fuhrmann endeavors to ascertain the existence of a class of philosophers in

the vital role he played in the downfall of Russia. Fuhrmann book gives an inside view of Grigory

In many instances many people do not trust the tsar or tsarina judgment because of the presence of
Rasputin. Rasputin becomes more of a nuisance to the royal family because he s very uneducated and
makes poor choices. His St. Petersburg apartment became a very busy office where he would take care
of medical problems and with his healing powers. He let payment be paid in money, pledges of
loyalty, or the most controversial kisses. This would have passed with no questions if at that time
Russia were not entering a period of crisis of war. Nicholas was forced to grant the constitution and
convene a parliament. Many loved and admired the tsar he was remarkably charming and just gave a
special atmosphere to the people. Though during these times Nicholas s greatest problems came from
the moderate opposition. Liberals and moderate conservatives were alarmed over defeats. Nicholas
refused to share power with the Duma. As time past in Russia tsar Nicholas and Alexandra became
very unpopular with the people of Russia. By the early 1916 Alexandra was the most hated woman in
Russia. Much popular opinion held that she was the leader of the dark forces that was driving the
Russian nation to destruction. By as early as 1915 the name Grigory Rasputin was in everyone s lips.
As time progress the situation was even worse. Rasputin s relationship with the royal family took on a
poignant character in the final months. Fuhrmann writes Rasputin s last day s gracefully stating that
Rasputin was in a state of deep depression during the last three days of his life. A few days late
Rasputin was murdered by Felix Yusupov which not many historians understand why. Many believed
that he feared that Rasputin was undermining Nicholas s government and opening a path to a

The Story Of Mathematics From The Book The Infinite
In 1912, the unsinkable ship Titanic ruptured its hull on a large iceberg, causing a completely
unexpected disaster that shocked the world. Looking at this iceberg, or any other for that matter, the
average observer likely draws the conclusion that what he sees is a good portion of the entire slab of
frozen water. However, the observer only sees about 10 percent of its entirety: in order to view the
whole iceberg, he must look below the surface to understand how such a seemingly small iceberg
could sink a such a huge ship. And just as any observer should look deeper in order to understand the
sinking of the Titanic, I did the same with mathematics when I read Taming the Infinite: The story of
mathematics from the first numbers to chaos theory. Never before had I even considered the ideas
discussed in the book written by Ian Stewart. What I found within ruptured a mental hull in brain,
allowing the history of math to flow into my mind. Before reading the first two chapters, I had always
assumed that I had a fairly decent grasp of math; however, after completing the assignment I realized
the vastness of its history which reaches into depths I d never enter into otherwise. In my previous
math classes, ranging from Algebra I to AP Calculus, I never had been assigned to anything dealing
with the actual history of math. So, much to my surprise as stated earlier, I found many aspects of the
book to be infinitely fascinating. In the first chapter, I was astonished to learn

What were theatres like?
The beginning of theatres was very similar to how they are today. For example, they still had a large
audience watching performing actors who have scripted and learnt a set play. They also had teared
seating as well.
The beginning of theatres was in 500 B.C. and back then going to the theatre was a big event. All of
the women use to get their slaves to do their hair especially nice and choose out the best dress they

One of the reasons this event was so big was because it was occasional unlike today when we can

only visited a few days every year.
Another difference was that to go and watch this theatre group ... Show more content on

Stage managers were introduced. Their jobs were the equivalent of modern day directors and

reduced.
Who were the audiences?
The theatres were not restricted to certain classes of society. This is because they had improved the
transportation system so the streets were far safer to travel along (especially at night). This meant that
plays could run longer into the night without people having to worry about how they were going to get
home safe. Therefore, theatres produced more money and consequently produced better plays.
Which plays were performed?
The main type of play was comedy . This was a combination of high and low comedy. Plots based on
coincidence and/or mistaken identities The characters usually puppets of fate. They were usually
unable to get married because they were too poor or too rich. They would also suffer a loss of identity
due to an accident. Another popular plot was where twins were separated and then they are unaware as

Before Walt Disney turned the tale into a movie, Brother Grimm had their own version of the tale.
Although the two stories had the same storyline there are many differences between them. The main
reason for the differences would be the audiences the creators are attracting. In the Brothers Grimm
version of Snow White the tale starts with a queen who wanted a child. She had said she want a child
as white as snow, as red as blood, and as black as the wood of the window frame (83). The queen had
given birth to a daughter who had all of the qualities she had wished for, but died not long after her
birth. In Walt Disney s version of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs the tale starts out with the evil
queen asking the mirror who the fairest one of all. The mirror responds with lips as red as the rose,
hair black as ebony, skin white as snow (Disney). The evil queen knew right away that it was Snow
White that the mirror was talking about. In both the Disney movie and the Brothers Grimm tale the
step mother/ evil queen is a beautiful lady, but proud and arrogant (83). When the evil queen found out
that she was no longer the fairest one of all she demanded to have Snow White killed. In the Brother
Grimm tale Snow White is only seven years old when this happens. In the movie Snow White s age is
never given but appears to be older than seven. In the written tale the evil queen

Lord Capulet To Blame In Romeo And Juliet Essay
Romeo and Juliet, the William Shakespeare play on star crossed lovers caught in the wrong
circumstances, causing their suicidal deaths. It is supposed that the play was first performed between
1594 and 1595, and that it was first printed in 1597. This tragedy known as the death of Romeo and
Juliet has been questioned to who is to blame. Let s rewind the clock back to where this all started, the
feud between the Montague s and Capulet s. I believe Lord Capulet is to blame as he was one of the
parents involved in this feud, and many of his character flaws contributed to the deaths, therefore he is
to blame. Lord Capulet s many character flaws lead to the death of his daughter, one being he is
extremely controlling. Since men were ranked higher than women, the men ... Show more content on

The Capulet s were known to be the ones continuing the family feud as they were always the ones
provoking the Montague s and starting the fights. As males were the head of the family in charge, he is
to blame for the continuing feud. Fate was also a major role with this flaw. Although Lord Capulet
was blamed for continuing the feud, this plays along with fate and that fate kept this feud going. Act 1
Scene 1 Line 65 he says to Lady Capulet, What noise is this? Give me my long sword, ho! If the feud
was not continued by Lord Capulet, Romeo and Juliet wouldn t have had to hide their love for one
another nor keep their marriage a secret. Romeo wouldn t have been banished for killing Tybalt and
most importantly, they wouldn t have died. In this scenario Lord Capulet should not have tried to pull
out weapons to fight the Montague s as it is shown that the feud between the families can be linked
back to him, as he is being confrontational and aggressive. Lord Capulet was exceptionally
antagonistic towards the Montague s, leading towards the feud being continued which spiralled

Legend Of Gallipoli
Hypothesis: In contrast to common societal belief, the Gallipoli Campaign had both a positive and
negative impact on Australian Society. By building the Anzac spirit, it distinguished Australia as its
own nation, built on a foundation of qualities embedded in this Anzac Legend. The nation advanced
socially and gained respect on a Global stage, but, Australia did significantly decline economically
and the morals of praising a failed war are question by some.
Intro: As the battle died, the legend was born, and so was the nation. On the 28th of June, 1914,

However, the costs of war were very damaging on the economy. In simple terms, the Anzac legend is
the commemoration of the Anzac spirit, born and developed throughout the eight months on the
battlefield of Gallipoli. The horrible situations, made the Anzacs strong and resilient, they had to rely
upon mateship and each other to get through. Their larrikinism also helped to keep many in as good a
mood as possible. Australia was very proud of their soldiers and aspired to be like them, this meant
that soon the whole country adopted the qualities of the Anzac spirit and the building of a nation
began. This nation was not the newly federated country that still was much divided into the different
qualities, Gallipoli fixed that two. Because man from all different backgrounds and states fought
together they were properly united and brought that attitude back home. The Anzac legend has had a
positive impact, defining what it means to be Australian, however how did Gallipoli an WW1 impact
on Australia socially and economically. The failed Gallipoli campaign mean that bonds with Britain
deteriorated, due to poor British leaderships, and the superiority that that showed to Australians. By
leaving the influence of Britain the nation was shaped more as an individual country which allowed

Resourcing Talent
Introduction.
It is essential for every organisation to understand the recruitment trends as by attracting the best
talent, organisations will have an advantage over their competitors. When talent planning,
organisations should promote a career opportunity, not a job opportunity as this gives a whole new
outlook to any potential employee.
The CIPD defines talent as those individuals who can make a difference to organisational performance
either through their immediate contribution or, in the longer term, by demonstrating the highest levels
of potential.
1.2 Identify and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
1.3 Three factors that affect an organisation s approach to recruitment and selection.
Skills.
It is important to identify the skills needed for new roles. This can be done by creating a job
description for the role in questions. Furthermore, an organisation can identify, through the job
description, whether the skills already exist within the organisation or if it is necessary for external
recruitment.
Cost.
Recruitment can be a very costly exercise, especially if not done correctly. It is therefore important to
have a recruitment plan in place. A company has to first identify if it wants to promote from within or
recruit externally. Does the company want to take on the recruitment procedure itself or use an
employment agency? Ensuring that the correct message is put across can eliminate the need for second
interviews as the criteria would have been specified in the requirements.
Supply and demand.
There is a large supply and demand for employees in the care sector. Being able to anticipate the need
for staff plays a large part in how a company approaches recruitment. To attract new talent, an
organisation may decide to include training as part of the induction process or alternatively, may seek
to recruit from European countries to meet the high demand of staff required.
2.1 Identify the benefits of three different recruitment methods.
Job adverts.
Advertising is the most popular way of recruiting.

Increasing Physical Fitness Levels In Children
Physical Education is becoming a special, along with art, music and other valuable classes that many
school districts have decided are not important enough to schedule daily. As a result, America s
children spend most of their school hours sitting still. The lack of physical activity, coupled with
overeating, has led to an increase in childhood obesity.
Say what you will about Richard Simmons, but the eccentric exercise guru recently brought national
attention to a problem we in PSAHPERD know all too well: the decrease in physical education is
contributing to an alarming increase in overweight American kids.

Messenger Protein Synthesis
Genes are transcribed to yield one of three types of RNA. These RNA types include messenger RNA
(mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Messenger RNA carries the genetic
instructions needed to manufacture polypeptides. Messenger RNA is absolutely necessary, because
genes cannot leave the nucleus. They pass their information to mRNA, which transports that
information to the cytoplasm, where protein synthesis occurs at the ribosome.
Protein synthesis is the manufacturing of functional polypeptides in the cytoplasm. Protein synthesis
occurs through the process of translation. Translation is the formation of a chain of amino acids by
using the instructions a messenger RNA strand provides. This process takes place at the ribosome. The
codons of an mRNA strand carry the instructions in triplets of bases of the coding strand of the gene.
Each codon encodes a specific amino acid to be installed into the growing polypeptide chain. During
translation, the sequence of codons will dictate the sequence of amino acids in the protein. The amino
acids are delivered to the ribosome by transfer RNA, a fairly small and mobile type of RNA. Each
transfer RNA molecule attaches and transports a specific amino acid. ... Show more content on

This quantity ensures that there is at least one tRNA for each of the 20 different types of amino acids
used in protein synthesis. Each tRNA molecule has a 3 CCA sequence that attaches to an amino acid.
Transfer RNA s are typically 80 bases in length. Approximately midway along its length, the
polynucleotide chain of tRNA forms a loop, called the anticodon loop. This loop contains 3 bases that
can pair complementarily with an appropriate codon in the mRNA. The nucleotide sequence of the
anticodon dictates the type of amino acid transported by the transfer RNA. For example, a tRNA with
the anticodon ACA carries cysteine, whereas a tRNA with the anticodon AAA carries

Different Cell Types Of The Stomach Essay
The stomach is an organ that is part of the digestive system. The stomach is located in the upper left
part of the abdominal cavity, below the diaphragm and next to the liver (Stomach, 2013). The inner
walls of the stomach contain small pores called gastric pits. The gastric pits contain cells that secrete
chemicals that aid in the digestion of food (Nguyen, 2015). In this essay, I will discuss the different
cell types of the stomach, how they work together to provide the overall function of the stomach, why
each organ requires different cell types, why the stomach can t be comprised of just one cell type, and
the advantage of having different types of cells.
The stomach is made up of multiple cells that all have a certain job. The cells that I will be discussing
are the Surface mucous cells, Mucous Neck cells, Parietal Cells, Chief cells, and the G cells.
Surface mucous cells
Surface mucous cells are the protective epithelial cells that line the surface of the stomach including
the gastric pits. The function of the surface mucous cells is to serve as a physical and chemical barrier.
The surface mucous cells secretes a bicarbonate rich mucus that forms a thick gel like coat that
adheres to the surface epithelium and protects the gastric tissue from abrasion and the acid content of
the stomach (The Stomach, n.d.).
Mucous Neck cell
The mucous neck cells are located in the neck section of the stomach often squeezed between two
parietal cells. The mucous neck cells job is to

Operational Definitions For our research study, the term molded cleats means, a shoe with a cleat

the cleats wear out, it can no longer be worn. Another term for our study is detachable cleat. A

Northern Baroque Vs Italian Baroque
In this essay, the difference between Northern Baroque and Italian Baroque styles of painting, the
differences between a male and a female interpretation, the narrative differences, and the
psychological dilemmas they present to the viewer will be discussed. In the style of Italian Baroque,
Genteleschi s version of Susanna and the Elders use of color is much more vibrant than Ruben s
interpretation. This can be seen in the bright red cape and blue shirt that the right Elder is wearing, the
dull blue sky, the dark purple and light brown robes the left Elder is wearing and with the contrast of
Susanna s white body against the cold concrete bench upon which she is sitting. The detailed carving

They were seen as child bearers and bread makers. Apart from the love for their husband, little else

Elizabeth executes Mary. In 1588, Philip II of Spain loads up the Armada to invade England. He is

1. Are any of the time intervals approximately constant?
There were two intervals remained constant between at rest and after exercise, the PR interval and the

however I suspect this was likely due to measurement error error rather than an actual increase).
2. With the exception of the R R interval, which time interval shows the greatest difference between

Two intervals did show a significant shorting post exercise. Besides the RR interval, the other
recorded interval which contained a marked shortening after exercise was the TP interval. To
understand why the TP interval is shortened when the heart rate increases and lengthened when the
heart rate slows, one must first understand what the TP interval is. The TP interval, which is the the

Psychological Research: Conceptual, Strategic, and Statistical Considerations
The relationships between independent and dependent variables can be very complex. Moderation and

Due to this complexity, psychological researchers can be unclear on the differences of the terms and

A hypothesis might read that the relationship between self kindness and depression is accounted for in
part by self kindness leading to more resilience which leads to less depression. This mediation is
different than than a recent moderation effect in another study where level of perceived social support
acts as a moderator on the relationship between a participant s level of perceived stress on the previous
day and their pain level on the following day. If a participant has more social support, the relationship
between their previous day level of perceived stress and current day pain level is reduced compared to
if they have less perceived social support. This seems to be obviously a moderator rather than a
mediator because level of perceived social support is changing the slope of the regression line. The
relationship between the independent or predictor variable and the dependent or outcome variable is
stronger or weaker depending on the level of the mediator. It is also possible for the relationship to
change direction depending on the mediator. This seems to further separate moderator from mediator
as level of a mediator would not change the relationship between the predictor and

Post Colonialism Essay

typically characterized by its opposition to the colonial. Postcolonial literature often targets on race

Simon During, in his essay discussing the nature and boundaries of post colonialism, argues for a

Works of literature that are defined as postcolonial often record racism or a history of genocide

Post colonialism includes a vast array of writers and subjects. In fact, the very different geographical,

Nobody wants to work for nothing, but many painting businesses do when they don t charge for all the
things that are part of each job. If you intend to do a complete job, and your customer is asking for a

Many painters brag about what they describe as an almost mystical experience, like walking into a

end up poorly, at best you will just miss something and work for nothing on that part of the job.

  • 2. The Squirrel Defense Initiative Originated in 1996, due to the frustrations of squirrels destroying Richard Walsh s bird feeder on his new deck, Ed Walsh, Richard s brother came up with the concept of building a solar bird feeder to help Richard out. The concept of a bird feeder that allowed birds to continue to eat the bird seed, while preventing the squirrels from reaching the food and destroying the feeders, soon became an obsession for Ed. What once originated with a car battery developed over the years to a solar cell, and was successful until the squirrels discovered that they could eat early in the morning or late evenings before the battery charged. It wasn t until 2003 that the company finally developed a business plan and in September of that year due to their efforts placed 5th in the TEI Fuel Business Plan Competition (Yelp, 2004 2014). Triad Entrepreneurial Initiative had been set up to focus on high profile business plan competitions. • 3. Positive And Negative Aspects Of Living In An... We are told we live in a network society. But is this just good news? What are the positive and negative aspects of living in a highly interconnected world? Discuss with reference to techno optimists and techno pessimists. We live in a highly interconnected world due to the increase in technology in our everyday lives, Marshall McLuhan calls this world interconnected by an electronic nervous system a global village (McLuhan n.d.). Theorists for example Manuel Castells call this new social structure the network society he defines the network society as a social structure made of networks in all the key dimensions of social organisation and social practice (Castells and Castells 2010). The internet of things is a networked world of connected devices, objects, and people (Greengard 2015). This technology has the potential to help people in many ways but could it also be used to spy on users in particular the controversy around Samsung smart TV s. The Samsung smart TV includes; voice recognition, auto detection of devices plugged in, smart view which connects with your phone (Samsung TV: SUHD, Smart TV n.d.) and some versions also included motion control. A techno optimist would say all this technology increases the user experience and ease of usage. Users can navigate the system with a small gesture or word without having to get up for the remote. This is the lean back experience and it is enhanced by making it easier and more natural interacting with the technology, to heighten the overall viewing experience.( Visualizing the Future of User Experience | Smart TV n.d.). The Samsung smart hub also allows users access to multiple apps and streaming sites all in one place(Samsung Smart Hub n.d.). Convergence of media platforms blending of the media, telecommunications and computer industries (Grant and Wilkinson 2009) and uniting them in one place benefits the user as they only need one device to access everything on. Opposing this view many may argue that technology is making us lazy and taking away control from the user. Marshall McLuhan famously quoted the medium is the message meaning that the medium has a greater impact on society than the message delivered by it. Consequently, the smart TV s ... For the next 188,000 years humans were content to forge and live within the constructs of a hunter gatherer societal organization. An astonishingly short period of time later the Agricultural Revolution transformed human ecology, social organization, demography, culture, and religion (Fagan: 2007). In the most general sense, technology permits humans to increase the capture and efficient utilization of solar radiation that drives primary plant production that is the basis of the human food and fiber chain (Porter, Rasmusen: 2009). This made books very rare and expensive, meaning members of the lower and middle classes could not easily obtain them. However, in 1450, Johannes Gutenberg changed all of this with his invention of the printing press. Within 50 years of its invention, the printing press was found in all major cities in Europe (Lauer, 2001). Today, more and more books are published each day. The spread of ideas was not limited to the fields of math and science; however, religion benefited greatly from the printing press. In fact, the Gutenberg Bible was the first book ever printed by Johannes Gutenberg s device ( Printing , 2013). This benefited the Holy Roman Empire greatly. With the ability to print the bible, people who were not clergymen were able to obtain the scripture and the influence of the church expanded across Europe. This sharing of ideas allowed them to achieve the power they had, being one of the strongest empires in history. Ironically, Martin Luther s 95 Theses , the document where he called out the Holy Roman Empire for its corruption and flaws, also gained traction because of the printing press. Martin Luther had numerous copies of his theses printed and posted in different places, which spread his ideas across Germany and then Europe to those affected by the Holy Roman Churches ruling (Lauer, 2001). • 9. Basis Of International Trade Essay International trade is historically the oldest and most widespread form of external economic relations. It is a movement of goods that represents a foreign exchange, that is, goods cross the boundaries of the individual countries or economic unit. Foreign trade links the country s internal economy with the world economy and fulfills important functions in the process of developing the productive forces and international division of labor. (Markusen, 1995) The basis of foreign trade is the realization of imports and exports of goods and services between the domestic economy and other countries. The theoretical basis of foreign trade policy consists of individual theories of foreign trade, which have been formed since the 18th century. Looking at this iceberg, or any other for that matter, the average observer likely draws the conclusion that what he sees is a good portion of the entire slab of frozen water. However, the observer only sees about 10 percent of its entirety: in order to view the whole iceberg, he must look below the surface to understand how such a seemingly small iceberg could sink a such a huge ship. • 27. Messenger Protein Synthesis Genes are transcribed to yield one of three types of RNA. These RNA types include messenger RNA (mRNA), transfer RNA (tRNA), and ribosomal RNA (rRNA). Messenger RNA carries the genetic instructions needed to manufacture polypeptides. Messenger RNA is absolutely necessary, because genes cannot leave the nucleus. They pass their information to mRNA, which transports that information to the cytoplasm, where protein synthesis occurs at the ribosome. Protein synthesis is the manufacturing of functional polypeptides in the cytoplasm. Protein synthesis occurs through the process of translation. Translation is the formation of a chain of amino acids by using the instructions a messenger RNA strand provides. This process takes place at the ribosome. The codons of an mRNA strand carry the instructions in triplets of bases of the coding strand of the gene. Each codon encodes a specific amino acid to be installed into the growing polypeptide chain. During translation, the sequence of codons will dictate the sequence of amino acids in the protein. The amino acids are delivered to the ribosome by transfer RNA, a fairly small and mobile type of RNA. Each transfer RNA molecule attaches and transports a specific amino acid. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This quantity ensures that there is at least one tRNA for each of the 20 different types of amino acids used in protein synthesis. Each tRNA molecule has a 3 CCA sequence that attaches to an amino acid. Transfer RNA s are typically 80 bases in length. Approximately midway along its length, the polynucleotide chain of tRNA forms a loop, called the anticodon loop. This loop contains 3 bases that can pair complementarily with an appropriate codon in the mRNA. The nucleotide sequence of the anticodon dictates the type of amino acid transported by the transfer RNA. For example, a tRNA with the anticodon ACA carries cysteine, whereas a tRNA with the anticodon AAA carries ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 28. Different Cell Types Of The Stomach Essay The stomach is an organ that is part of the digestive system. The stomach is located in the upper left part of the abdominal cavity, below the diaphragm and next to the liver (Stomach, 2013). The inner walls of the stomach contain small pores called gastric pits. The gastric pits contain cells that secrete chemicals that aid in the digestion of food (Nguyen, 2015). In this essay, I will discuss the different cell types of the stomach, how they work together to provide the overall function of the stomach, why each organ requires different cell types, why the stomach can t be comprised of just one cell type, and the advantage of having different types of cells. The stomach is made up of multiple cells that all have a certain job. The cells that I will be discussing are the Surface mucous cells, Mucous Neck cells, Parietal Cells, Chief cells, and the G cells. Surface mucous cells Surface mucous cells are the protective epithelial cells that line the surface of the stomach including the gastric pits. The function of the surface mucous cells is to serve as a physical and chemical barrier. The surface mucous cells secretes a bicarbonate rich mucus that forms a thick gel like coat that adheres to the surface epithelium and protects the gastric tissue from abrasion and the acid content of the stomach (The Stomach, n.d.). Mucous Neck cell The mucous neck cells are located in the neck section of the stomach often squeezed between two parietal cells. The mucous neck cells job is to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We hypothesize that molded cleats will produce a better 40 yard dash time that detachable cleats due the weight difference between molded and detachable cleats. Operational Definitions For our research study, the term molded cleats means, a shoe with a cleat attached to the bottom that can t be removed. The cleats are molded to the bottom of the shoe. When the cleats wear out, it can no longer be worn. Another term for our study is detachable cleat. A detachable cleat is a shoe with cleats on the bottom that can be taken out at any time at replaced. These cleats are normally more durable and a bit heavier. Review of Literature Within the United States of America, football is emerging as one of the nation s favorite pastimes. There are many facets of football that make football so exciting; which includes the remarkable speed and size of the athletes. Northern Baroque Vs Italian Baroque In this essay, the difference between Northern Baroque and Italian Baroque styles of painting, the differences between a male and a female interpretation, the narrative differences, and the psychological dilemmas they present to the viewer will be discussed. In the style of Italian Baroque, Genteleschi s version of Susanna and the Elders use of color is much more vibrant than Ruben s interpretation. This can be seen in the bright red cape and blue shirt that the right Elder is wearing, the dull blue sky, the dark purple and light brown robes the left Elder is wearing and with the contrast of Susanna s white body against the cold concrete bench upon which she is sitting. Apart from the love for their husband, little else granted them power of the likes of their husband, legally or otherwise. Ruben s interpretation could represent how men were feeling at the time period, like predators of the night. How they prey on the unsuspecting widows and unwed women throughout the night brings to mind Jack the Ripper, based on the sinister tone of Ruben s painting. Are any of the time intervals approximately constant? There were two intervals remained constant between at rest and after exercise, the PR interval and the RT interval (there was a clinically insignificant 0.01 second increase in the RT interval after exercise, however I suspect this was likely due to measurement error error rather than an actual increase). 2. With the exception of the R R interval, which time interval shows the greatest difference between resting and post exercise? Explain this observation. Two intervals did show a significant shorting post exercise. Besides the RR interval, the other recorded interval which contained a marked shortening after exercise was the TP interval. Reflections On Barron And Kenny Reflections on Barron Kenny s 1986 article The Moderator Mediator Variable Distinction in Social Psychological Research: Conceptual, Strategic, and Statistical Considerations The relationships between independent and dependent variables can be very complex. Moderation and mediation is one way to make sense of this complexity, but add a level of complexity of their own. Due to this complexity, psychological researchers can be unclear on the differences of the terms and use them in an inaccurate and misleading fashion, indicating that a moderation is a mediation and a mediation is a moderation. The authors make the differences clear through explaining that a moderator allows for changing direction or strength of relationship, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A hypothesis might read that the relationship between self kindness and depression is accounted for in part by self kindness leading to more resilience which leads to less depression. This mediation is different than than a recent moderation effect in another study where level of perceived social support acts as a moderator on the relationship between a participant s level of perceived stress on the previous day and their pain level on the following day. If a participant has more social support, the relationship between their previous day level of perceived stress and current day pain level is reduced compared to if they have less perceived social support. This seems to be obviously a moderator rather than a mediator because level of perceived social support is changing the slope of the regression line. The relationship between the independent or predictor variable and the dependent or outcome variable is stronger or weaker depending on the level of the mediator. It is also possible for the relationship to change direction depending on the mediator. This seems to further separate moderator from mediator as level of a mediator would not change the relationship between the predictor and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Postcolonial literature often targets on race relations and the outcome of racism along with generally implies white and/or colonial societies. Simon During, in his essay discussing the nature and boundaries of post colonialism, argues for a more inclusive definition, calling it the need, in nations, or groups which have been victims of imperialism to achieve an identity uncontaminated by universalist or Eurocentric concepts or images. Works of literature that are defined as postcolonial often record racism or a history of genocide including slavery, apartheid, and the mass extinction of people, such as the Aborigines in Australia. Post colonialism includes a vast array of writers and subjects. If you intend to do a complete job, and your customer is asking for a complete job, then you should be charging for a complete job. Leave something off of the estimate and you are working for nothing. Doing a complete and thorough estimate involves everything that takes time whether it be screwing that switch plate cover back on or painting the altar in that church. Many painters brag about what they describe as an almost mystical experience, like walking into a room and a price comes into their head. I never liked that because it is inaccurate, lazy and likely to end up poorly, at best you will just miss something and work for nothing on that part of the job.
