Re: Hewlett Packet Singapore Asian Language Printer
Situation Description
Hewlett Packard is looking to manufacture the company s first Asian language printer. The company
is looking to sell the printer in Asian markets including Japan, but there are significant risks involved
with sell the printer in Japan. Japan s market is already saturated with competition including Epson
and Canon. Epson and Canon already off a desktop inkjet printer that is smaller in size than HP s
Deskjet printer. The Japanese culture also tends not to purchase from brands that are not well known
in the Japanese market for fear the company may go out of business. Brand recognition is important
when entering the Japanese market.
Recommended Solution
The recommended solution for HP entering the Japanese market is two fold. The company must first
take the existing DeskJet product and innovate upon that technology to make a product that
differentiates itself from the competition. According to Warsh (1995) if you succeed in making people
think you are better than the rest, you can earn somewhat higher margins than the supplier of so called
commodity goods and services because people will

Ghandi and His Fight Agains Discrimination in South Africa...
Gandhi is considered by many around the world as the father of the Indian independence movement.
Gandhi spent over 20 years in South Africa working to fight discrimination. It was in South Africa that
he developed his concept of Satyagraha, a non violent way of protesting against discrimination. The
first time Gandhi used Satyagraha was in South Africa beginning in 1907 when he organized
opposition to the Black Act. In 1907, the Black Act was passed, requiring all Indians to keep
registration documents on them at all times. Gandhi s first hand experiences in dealing with
discrimination began in South Africa. In Chapter VII Some Experiences, Gandhi recalls on his first
days of his arrival the incident at the Durban court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You must leave this compartment, or else I shall have to call a police constable to push you out. Yes,
you may. I refuse to get out voluntarily.
This incident began his life long battle against all discriminations. Although he debated returning to
India, his duty came first. It would be cowardice to run back to India without fulfilling my obligation.
The hardship to which I was subjected was superficial only a symptom of the deep disease of colour
prejudice. I should try, if possible, to root out the disease and suffer hardships in the process. Redress
for wrongs I should seek only to the extent that would be necessary for the removal of the colour
prejudice. Gandhi also faced the same discrimination on a coach from Johannesburg to Charlestown,
and learned the racial condescension of the racial slur coolie. A coolie is a historical term for manual
labourers and a racial slur. The term was used in America towards the Chinese workers that built the
railroad during the 19th and early 20th century and toward the Indians indentured laborers. On the
coach, a white passenger did not want a coolie sitting inside with the other whites. Instead, he insisted
that Gandhi sit on the floor at his feet on a sack. When Gandhi refused, the man physically assaulted
him the man came down upon me and began heavily to box my ear. He seized me by the arm and tried
to drag me down. I clung to the brass

The Stories Of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is a 19th century author who is known by his stories of Sherlock Holmes.
Sherlock Holmes is a crime series based in the Victorian era when feminists in this period were calling
for women and children to have equal protection under the law (Miller 55). He is consider one of most
known iconic British characters created who solves mysteries with visual detection. One thing is clear
author Conan Doyle portrays women as a weakness in Holmes s visual approach, his extraordinary
powers (Doyle 240) on crime cases, female criminals either get the last laugh or outwit him. As years
went by many adaptations brought the adventures to life with their own twists and turns on their take
on the story plot especially when it comes to criminality and femininity (Miller 30). Such as the BBC
television show version of Sherlock of its version of The Abominable Bride or even CBS Elementary
of its version of Irene Adler and Moriarty in The Woman episode, the question lays are the views truly
different or any better when it comes to representing female criminals or women in general. Female
criminals comes into play in many of Conan Doyle s Sherlock series and they somehow women is
able to deceive him. It comes to our understanding in the book series Holmes doesn t judge women by
her outward appearance because he believes one should look at the matter clearly and fairly (Doyle
913). That it is more than beautification, gender and sexuality, to Holmes and it

Benefits And Benefits Of Retirement Program
Defined Benefit or Defined Contribution When we are young we tend to not think about the future and
what we can do today to ensure we are able to maintain a comfortable lifestyle. Financial planning is
extremely important to all of us whether we are wanting a new boat in the near future or a retirement
home in Arizona. As a young adult entering the workforce straight out of high school or a recent
college graduate, choices will be made as to the type of career you will follow, the location of
employment, the employer and the starting wages all of these will affect our financial future. Some
decisions are made for us, such as what type of retirement program(s) are offered by our employer,
will you enroll or do they offer them at all. Since the turn of the century it is no longer commonplace
for someone to start their employment career and end it with the same employer. Therefore, when
researching a future employer, understanding the retirement plans of a defined benefit or a defined

Biography Of Leopold s A Sand County Almanac Essay
Part A When one reads Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac, it is difficult to not immediately find
yourself lost in Leopold s enchantment with the nature that surrounds him. Leopold describes, month
by month, the activities of the animals and nature around him in such a way that one is able to truly
appreciate the often missed miracles that are happening all around us. One can easily deduct that the
theme of A Sand County Almanac is very boldly proclaimed as Leopold s writings tell us to pause for
a moment to appreciate and conserve the beautiful world that surrounds us.
Let us consider the two key words of the theme, appreciate and conserve. The Oxford English
Dictionary defines the word appreciate as to, recognize the worth of ( Appreciate ). Leopold wants
society to take a moment to recognize the worth of nature by providing us with a descriptive glance at
elements of nature that we may often take for granted, such as animals foraging for food or the history
of a tree. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word conserve as to, protect (something,
especially something of environmental or cultural importance) from harm or destruction ( Conserve ).
Once we are able to appreciate nature, we become more aware of the importance of conservation.
When you do not care about nature, it is easy to overuse and mistreat it in such a way that it harms the
environment. On the contrary, if one is able to truly appreciate nature, he or she is much more
conscious about the

Deadly Unna Essay
Phillip Gwyne s novel, Deadly Unna? explores how the main character Gary Black, a white boy from
the Port also known as Blacky grows up by not agreeing to racism. Blacky experiences prejudice and
friendship from both the aboriginal and white communities. Blacky begins to develop a greater
tolerance for aborigines and their culture, and then he further attempts to apply this knowledge to the
intolerant and prejudiced town in which he lives. The boy who helps him shift in his opinion of
aborigines is a local aborigine named Dumby Red , who lives in the aboriginal missionary The Point .
Dumby is of Blacky s Football team and helps Blacky in various ways to become more tolerant.
Throughout the book, Blacky learns many things about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nice girls, but they ve all got the clap (Gonorrhea). Every last one of em . (Gwynne, 1998, p.122).
Blacky thinks about this for a moment and agrees that Darcy is quite smart so decides to be careful of
Clarence. Later in the story Blacky is sitting at the bar and Big Mac, the bar tender starts to tell a racist
joke. When he finishes and the entire bar starts laughing, Blacky does not, he has heard and told the
joke before and laughed at it, but it did not seem funny now because of his new friendship with
Dumby and Clarence. This shows how Blacky has grown and how he has no humour for racisms.
Blacky s thoughts about prejudice in the town are confirmed after the football presentations. When the
McRae medal was won by Mark Arks (from the white boys footy team), Blacky could not believe that
his town could go this far and be so racist, Dumby had contributed so much to the team all season, he
had been the true team player and was the best and everyone in the Port new it, but they continued to
say nothing, Blacky then became really angry. Blacky states; its bullshit, that s Dumbys trophy, (Ibid,
p.133). Blacky realized how racist his town was against the Nungas (Aboriginals). This was the
turning point of Blacky s view of the town. Blacky realized how much the Goonyas (white people) in
his town hated the Nungas. Another example of Prejudice is when Blacky told Pickles and Darcy
about Dumby s funeral both of them thought Dumby deserved to die just

Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Essay examples
Acute lymphocytic leukemia is also called acute lymphoblastic leukemia or ALL. This disease is
primarily when the white blood cell, WBC, making tissue releases too many undeveloped
lymphocytes. The immature lymphocytes then collect in lymph tissues. The tissues swell which makes
it harder for the bone marrow to produce other blood cells. If the bone marrow cannot function
properly the red blood cell, RBC, count decreases causing anemia. The bone marrow also cannot
create the platelets needed to cause clots, therefore resulting in the body bleeding and bruising more
easily. The lymphocytes can also invade other organs, impairing their ability to function properly. ALL

The leukemic cells start in either B or T lymphocytes. Approximately 80% of cases start with
immature B cells. One to two percent are mature B cells. Fifteen to twenty percent of all cases are
derived from T cells. These cases are associated with cases that occur in older males and a need for a
higher dosage of chemotherapy. In addition, the chromosomes play an important part in the diagnosis
of the subtype of ALL. The TEL AML1 fusion gene can indicate an early B cell type of leukemia. This
gene also indicates a favorable prognosis. The bcr abl t translocation gene is seen in three to five
percent of all cases. Those diagnosed with ALL that have this gene will have a higher WBC count and
a poorer prognosis. A rearrangement of the MLL gene accounts for 80% of infant ALL cases. The
prognosis for this is poor despite the use of high intensity chemotherapeutics. There is only a twenty
percent survival rate (Esparza, Sakamoto, 2005).
Manifestation of the Disease When diagnosing ALL a complete patient history is taken. The client
would present with weakness, pallor, and fatigue indicating anemia. The client would be feeling pain
in the bones and below the ribs. The client would experience headache from increased cranial pressure
(Cancer, 2010). The client would also be prone to secondary infection due to the decreased production
of immature WBC. This would present with fever and sweating. The client

Relations Between Vietnam And The United States
The situation that the Captain is faced with is multi faceted and complicated. The consequences of his
decision may have results of strategic importance to the relationship between not only China and the
United States, but between Vietnam and the U.S., as well as other peripheral nations that share
interests and territorial claims in the South China Sea. Additional aspects impacting the situation
include the history that is important to understanding China s thought process, humanitarian concerns,
the very real American military requirement to come to the aid of American citizens under threat, and
finally, the potential to become engaged in a kinetic engagement with a Chinese warship. All weigh
heavily upon any decision making process, and can be analyzed through a combination of both
consequentialism and deontological thought. Under those thought constructs, the captain is justified in
acting to save the lives of the Americans in question. Both the consequences of a decision to act, as
well as an analysis of the rightness or the duty of a decision to act are in the captain s favor.
China has used historical claims to justify its territorial usurpations in the South China Sea. China s
territorial claims are causing conflict in the region as Beijing seeks to control more area of the South
China Sea, with one such example being the declaration of Chinese control out to the Nine dashed
line. Additionally, it is only in the last one hundred or so years that China has

Faye was different than others. She insisted on staying icy , with the world seen clearly and head spins

flowerdness, and stormy lives more interesting than life should ve ever been. Photography is a passion
we shared closer to our hearts then our own safety. Her and I fell in love with telling stories through
the adrenaline rushes, cold cut pictures making people understand without uttering a single word.

There was a tree on the edge of the water that had a branch just high enough to jump off of where it s
safe and still feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins. It took over 5 minutes to swim to the
other side and by then Faye had wanted something that would make her mind icy for longer than just a
couple minutes. Two girls sitting underneath a tree talking about traveling the world together,
dreaming of the perfect twin brothers to come along by the age of 25, and sharing our feelings of
difference from the world was routine. Yet, something was off... I didn t know what but it definitely
wasn t the night for after dark parties or adrenaline rushes. The third fight was our last. The thought of
her starting a fire across her skin before jumping in the ice cold lake left a feeling I couldn t explain.
Jumping from the tree into the lake helped, I knew it did, but I couldn t let her jump tonight... She d do
it alone and I d never let her spark adrenaline dangerously by herself. Sisters fight, it s a natural
instinct. Except you never leave your baby sister behind when it s dangerous outside, no matter how
mad you are. I did. Millions of cars searched the streets and calls... so many calls, were made to find
Faye. It was an immediate search after I realized the selfishness of what I d done, leaving her there at
the lake. Except, no one made it in time. The burn marks and cuts across our skin marked our
stupidity, everyone knew. There s a reason why no one ever worried about us. We knew how to take
care of ourselves and the ice we felt from the blade or the fire or the jumping was a shock to people at
first. Before they realized it was only two stupid teenagers and stopped telling us we needed help. It
was like our minds were in constant searching for something more. Anything to make the icy feeling

in ways one can fund the purchase of a high end motorcycle
Results
Overall the results of my simulation were not bad and I had correctly interpreted the data for two of
the parameters but fell short on two of them. To look a little closer at each of the categories here is a

Along with them a chaos theorist Dr. Ian Malcolm was asked to come to the island as well. When they
first make it to the island, they are all in awestruck that there were living and breathing dinosaurs right
in front of them. However, as they began to see what was happening behind the scenes and what types
of dinosaurs they were genetically engineering, they became concerned. Later, Hammond s

The Impact Of Technology On Technology
Technology builds, transforms, and inspires. Every aspect of one s creative, personal, and professional
life can be stored and backed up on technology. Because of its innumerable capabilities and relevance,
one could infer that there is an oddly intimate relationship between humans and technology, simply by
stating one would feel uncomfortable and naked without it. Mobile communication, more specifically
social media, leads to a further understanding of how technology plays an influential role in the lives
of youth. Many preadolescents acquire mobile devices and rely on them for the majority of their play;
therefore at such a young age, the device and the child become inseparable which hinders the child
from participating in other activities. In sum, parents or guardians should not let their children acquire
a mobile device before the age of 10 to prevent advanced digital technology from invading and
occupying their lives. The underlying problem is that one on one communication between parent and
child is more impactful than the use of mobile devices because it allows both parent and child to have
a more intimate and understanding relationship. Parents should be the example and be upfront with
their children on monitoring online behavior, and furthermore, be challenging themselves to become
more familiar with the complexities of the advancements of new technology so that they are aware of
what their child could be a part of. Simone Orlowski, writer of The Promise and the

Wonka Personal Response
This book is suitable for children and appealing to them because it embraces the concept of family in
an important, but sadly underrepresented way. The book does not focus on the typical father son,
mother son, or even sibling sibling relationship. Instead, it expands this framework to include an even
older generation, the grandparents.
In many ways, the figure of the grandparent in our current culture and when the book was written take
on an absent or separating characteristic. They are normally seen as being weaker and wiser then the
youth making them guides on the journey but rarely participates. This is present in the book as the
narrator mentions, they [old people] were as shriveled as prunes, and as bony as skeletons, and

One of the scenes and lines that embrace this is when Charlie gets a golden ticket his father chooses
not to go because but on the other hand...I believe that the person who really deserves to go is
Grandpa Joe...he seems to know more about it than we do (Dahl 52). The line represents the parent
generation recognizing and encouraging the need for the younger generation and the older generation
to interact in this fantastical setting. This allows the world of Wonka to become even more fantastical
as it also becomes a necessary foreground for the grandparent to become an active and present figure.
It is both the chance to explore a new world and this new figure. However, it does not only look at the
grandparent as a figure but also as a possible relationship. The grandparent is the only family figure
and, therefore, a partner that accompanies Charlie on his journey. This not only incents interest in
children but also good for them. It shows them that one does not need a parent or sibling to have this
familial relationship. One can and in some cases should connect with this older though sometimes
separate generation. This is a lesson which I feel is personally important, but is also actually important
for those who do not have parents or siblings to go to for this

Peritoneal Dialysis Research Paper
Peritoneal dialysis catheter placement is a surgery to insert a thin, flexible tube (catheter) in your
abdomen. This surgery must be done before you begin peritoneal dialysis. Dialysis is a treatment that
replaces some of the work that healthy kidneys do. During dialysis, wastes, salt, and extra water are
removed from the blood. In peritoneal dialysis, these tasks are performed by transferring a fluid called
dialysate to and from your abdomen during each session. The fluid goes through the catheter to enter
the abdomen at the start of each dialysis session, and it drains out of the body through the catheter at
the end of each session.

Over the past several years, SDMHA s board of directors has been considering how SDMHA can
better serve leased residential property owners and managers throughout South Dakota. Our time
spent in Pierre and Washington D.C. made us realize the importance of being a statewide voice for the
residential rental industry. Therefore, several months ago we secured the right to represent every South
Dakota county to the National Apartment Association. Then at the October board meeting, your board
of directors voted to implement an expansion plan in 2018. In order to grow SDMHA, we have
identified three expansion areas. Those areas are the Black Hills, Aberdeen and Yankton/Vermillion

How Technology Has Changed Our Society
Over the last ten years, technology has transformed almost every aspect of our lives before we ve had
time to stop and question it. In every home on every desk; in every palm a plasma screen a monitor: a
smartphone a black mirror of our 21st century existence. Our grip on reality is shifting we worship at
the altars of Google and Apple. Facebook algorithms know us more intimately than our parents. We
have access to all the information in the world but no brain space left to absorb anything longer than
140 character tweets. Black mirror taps into the collective eases about our modern world. Black
Mirror TV Show, Charlie Brooker, Channel 4. Within this quote, Brooker says that people have sold
their own ability to think independently just for all the information in the world at their fingertips.
Technology has only deepened its grasp on consumers by becoming a necessity for conformity. The
Visits from Inside the Black Mirror will interpret the consumers desire for social acceptance.
BACKGROUND
In the year 2016 owning some form of technology is a necessity and without it the consumer is kicked
out of society forever. This is proven within the smartphone epidemic and even the era of modern day
television. The consumers that had not participated in the technology transformation were left alone to
the old methods of entertainment. With that being said thinking about this concept in a more extensive
way leads to the assumption that consumers have this fear of missing out.

Capitalism And Capitalism In Society
The value of money continues to decrease, but the need for this little yet powerful piece of paper
continues to skyrocket. Many people believe money magically illuminates complications and solves
problems. America has been a capitalist state for decades, so money may be considered fundamental
to our survival as Americans. This may be the case for many, but I disagree. I believe capitalism is the
base for social, political and economic inequality and the idea of capitalism deceives us into thinking
we as Americans cannot function without money. Capitalism creates complications and conceive
problems. In capitalism, many private owners control the means of production, causing the
government not to regulate their businesses. Thus, allowing exploitation to occur. The U.S will
continue to collapse as long as we are a capitalist society. This system forces us to be greedy and greed
forces us to be selfish individuals. Once an individual is selfish they will continue to make decisions
that have a negative impact on the lives of many. The upper class owns the means of production. They
control and support some of the most prestigious institutions such as; prep schools, factories, social
clubs and policy formation organization. Their wealth has been in the family for many generations
(old money) and will take several lifetimes to spend. The upper class are the people at the top of the
social ladder with great wealth and assets. They possess endless resources, causing them to remain

Negative Side Of Sweatshops

Although sweatshops get a bad name for their conditions, it has been shown and documented that
sweatshops actually benefit people by occupying them with jobs they wouldn t get anywhere else, as
well as help boost the economy. Sweatshops have been known to boost economies in areas where
poverty is an issue. They offer jobs and shelter from the streets. When someone hears the word
sweatshop they think of child labor, Most people are too focused on the negative side of sweatshops
that they can t see the side that benefits and aids the people of its surroundings. In the grand scheme of
things, The good of sweatshops outweighs the bad. Even though the positive side of sweatshops
outweighs the negative side, their is still an opposing opinion that many people stand by. They stand
on the side regarding sweatshops, the working conditions they provide and that they should be
outlawed. In the article titled Crammed into squalid factories to produce clothes for the West on just
20p a day, the children forced to work in horrific unregulated workshops of Bangladesh ,
Photographer Claudio Montesano Casillas, documents the horrible yet intriguing conditions of a
Garment Sweatshop in Bangladesh. She states that they produce clothes on just 20P a day, and are
forced to work in horribly unsafe conditions. From this article, you can tell that Casillas is not for
sweatshops. Most of the children in the factory, do not have the

The Articles Of Confederation And The Constitution
Constitution and Articles Analysis The Articles of Confederation and The Constitution were both
written I believe to ensue peace in a new nation where great freedoms had just been betrothed upon.
Both written within ten years of each other, the main point it was trying to get across was the idea of
one nation. They were written by the same people who all in all had similar ideas. There are many
differences as well. From the main one being sovereign states, to how many states must approve an
amendment. One reason for the difference is some had other interpretations of certain
wordings.Unfortunately, this is what brought us the Civil War. The southern states felt that their
constitutional rights had been violated when they were told they could not take slaves with them to the
west. They were then told that they could not secede from the rest of the union. And the rest is well,
history. There are many similar things about both of these documents. They both want to secure the
nation as a whole. After being able to escape the British rule, they wanted to come together as one
nation. Both gave power to the government to help regulate the laws of the land. The writers knew
that they would be stronger and harder to over run if the laws were written out on paper. It gave each
state their own rights to run it how they like, but still made sure the government had the final so if it
was written down. With that said, there are many difference in a lot of the articles in both. The

Heritage Of The Ship
From the outcome of the attacks that occurred on the World Trade Center on 9/11 emerged a ship
containing seven and a half tons of steel recovered from the World Trade Center s twin towers. Senior
Enlisted Leaders should ensure they educate others why heritage comes from knowing history, which
is important because it helps to create pride within the service. This essay presents the NEW YORK
ship namesakes and their significance to the heritage of the U.S. Navy.
Past
Before 1911 there were already five ships named after the state of New York. The first NEW YORK
was a Gondola commissioned in 1776 by General Benedict Arnold. Gondolas were heavily armed
although small in size. The Gondola took part of the Battle of Valcour Island, which ... Show more

Present
On September 11th 2001, exactly 90 years after the keel of USS NEW YORK (BB 34) was laid, 2,763
people were killed in the World Trade Centers by terrorist attacks. Shortly after the attacks a request
was made from New York State Governor George E. Pataki to Secretary of the Navy Gorden England
requesting for a surface ship that would be involved in the War on Terrorism be named NEW YORK
even though surface ships were not normally named after states. The request was approved 28 August
2002 to name the ship not only after the state but also the city. During her construction seven and a

Theories About Human Behaviour And Its Effects On Human...
Schacter (2012) defined Behaviourism as an approach that advocates that psychologists restrict
themselves to the scientific study of objectively observable behaviour (pg 19). Behaviours that can be
observed include covert behaviours, like thoughts and emotions, and behaviourism can be used to
analyse these and then modify them. In the 20th century Pavlov, Thorndike, Watson and Skinner all
played very important roles in the emergence of Behaviourism and helped tear away from other
psychology fields. Theories about human behaviour were concluded by experiments on animals and
how they interacted with their environment. This then led to different experiments in conditioning
behaviour that was learnt from environment and reinforcement.
As behaviourism is primarily concerned with observable behaviour, behaviourism believes that when
you are born you start with a Tablu Rasa . Therefore this means that your behaviour has to be learnt
through your environment. Behaviour is the result of a stimulus that is presented to either a human or
an animal and this then will produce a certain response which has been moulded by their environment,
this is called conditioning. From experiments that Pavlov has carried out, we know that there isn t a
great difference in the way that humans and animals learn. Research can then be carried out with
humans as well as humans. (Mcleod, S. Behaviourist Approach. Retrieved from

Association Between Damage Associated Molecular Patterns and Outcomes in Trauma Patients
Introduction
Despite medical advancements over the past decade, trauma remains the leading cause of fatality
among persons 1 to 44 years of age, and is the 4th leading cause of death among all ages in the United
States1,2. Although many trauma victims succumb to overwhelming injuries early on, patients who
survive initial injury undergo a period of immunoinflammatory dysregulation which under
overwhelming circumstances, can lead to organ dysfunction, respiratory distress syndrome (ARDs),
nosocomial infection, multiple organ failure (MOF), and ultimately death3,4. Although the specific

This non histone nuclear protein facilitates gene transcription under normal conditions, however in the
event of cellular stress HMGB1 is released from necrotic cells and promotes inflammation via
downstream activation of NF κB14,15. Recent studies have shown that in severe trauma, HMGB1 is
released as early as 30 60 minutes after injury and peaks within 2 6 hours16,17. In addition,
significant differences in plasma levels of HMGB1 have been observed between survivors and non
survivors of traumatic injury18,19. A wide range of Mitochondrial derived DAMPs such as
mitochondrial DNA, N formyl peptides, Cardiolipin, carbamoyl phosphate synthase, cytochrome C,
and ATP have also been found to be markedly elevated in severely injured trauma patients21,22.
Cytochrome C specifically is released from both apoptotic and necrotic cells and has been found to be
significantly elevated in patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI)23. S100A8 also known as

Oscar Wilde s The picture of Dorian Grey s novel is about a young man named Dorian Gray, the
subject of a painting by artist Basil Hallward. Basil is impressed by Dorian s beauty and believes his
beauty should not be wasted and it is responsible for a new mode in his art. Dorian meets Lord Henry
Wotton, a friend of Basil s, and becomes enslaved by Lord Henry s world view. He shows him a new
hedonism, and suggests the only things worth following in life are beauty and fulfillment of the
senses. When he realizes that one day his beauty will fade, Dorian feels a desire to sell his soul to

My Papa s Waltz And Daddy Comparison
Theodore Roethke s My Papa s Waltz , Robert Hayden s The Whipping , and Sylvia Plath s Daddy are
all poems written about children getting beaten but have differing narrators and varying times.
Although these poems may be about the same topic, they are presented in different points of view by
the narrators. My Papa s Waltz is in the first person point of view as it s happening, The Whipping is
also presented as it is happening, but is presented third person, however; Daddy is written as a
reflection in the first person. While My Papa s Waltz and Daddy are written in the first person, they

The boy says that the waltzing was not easy, which could refer to dancing with his drunk dad or that
the father harming the child and that the son is linking it to a dance instead of a beating (Roethke 552).
It is because of this that Roethke s poem could mean that his father and he are dancing or that the boy
is getting hit. It is because of this widely interpretable part of the poem that there are three different
ideas on what the poem actually means. The first one is that the child look to his father with fear and
joy. The other two sides are a like in the fact that they think that the poems intensity. One of them
thinks that the poem has a more joyful mood because their personal experience when their father
became drunk and loved them instead of hurting them (Fong 79 80). On the flip side of the coin,
people think that the poems tone is more fearful because in the beginning they hear that the fathers
been drinking and is now scaring the mother and the son instead of being a happy story (Fong 80).
Bobby Fong thinks that the poem is like a seesaw... hard, dirt, clinging), (80). This shows that he
thinks that the story has both fearful parts and joyful parts. However, in Hayden s The Whipping there
isn t as much room for interpretation because it basically describes clearly an adolescent getting
whipped publicly. In Hayden s

Hong Kong Is A Free Port Which Thrives On Free Trade
With the company s transition and a new focus as well as the various acquisitions over the past couple
of years, we are not looking to completely expanding into a new international market as much as we
are looking to expand our operations in those markets that we ve already have a presence in. This will
focus specifically focus on our Hong Kong operations and deal a lot with our philosophy of helping
everyone do better, so let s look at the details of Hong Kong.
Hong Kong is a free port which thrives on free trade. Its open door policy has enabled it to become
one of the world s largest trading economies and an international financial and commercial centre
serving the Asia Pacific region and the Mainland of China. The free trade policy means Hong Kong
maintains no barriers to trade. Thus, Hong Kong does not charge a tariff on importation or exportation
of goods. Import and export licensing are also kept to a minimum. Licensing is only imposed when
there is a genuine need to fulfil obligations undertaken by Hong Kong to our trading partners, or to
meet public health, safety or internal security needs. ( Trade and Industry Department: Trade Policy ,
2016) During the past decade, as Hong Kong s manufacturing industry moved to the mainland, its
service industry has grown rapidly. Credit expansion and tight housing supply conditions have caused
Hong Kong property prices to rise rapidly; consumer prices increased by more than 4% in 2013.
America is Hong Kong s second largest

The company is looking to sell the printer in Asian markets including Japan, but there are significant risks involved with sell the printer in Japan. Japan s market is already saturated with competition including Epson and Canon. Epson and Canon already off a desktop inkjet printer that is smaller in size than HP s Deskjet printer. The Japanese culture also tends not to purchase from brands that are not well known in the Japanese market for fear the company may go out of business. Brand recognition is important when entering the Japanese market. Recommended Solution The recommended solution for HP entering the Japanese market is two fold. The company must first take the existing DeskJet product and innovate upon that technology to make a product that differentiates itself from the competition. According to Warsh (1995) if you succeed in making people think you are better than the rest, you can earn somewhat higher margins than the supplier of so called commodity goods and services because people will ... • 3. Ghandi and His Fight Agains Discrimination in South Africa... Gandhi is considered by many around the world as the father of the Indian independence movement. Gandhi spent over 20 years in South Africa working to fight discrimination. It was in South Africa that he developed his concept of Satyagraha, a non violent way of protesting against discrimination. The first time Gandhi used Satyagraha was in South Africa beginning in 1907 when he organized opposition to the Black Act. In 1907, the Black Act was passed, requiring all Indians to keep registration documents on them at all times. Gandhi s first hand experiences in dealing with discrimination began in South Africa. In Chapter VII Some Experiences, Gandhi recalls on his first days of his arrival the incident at the Durban court ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You must leave this compartment, or else I shall have to call a police constable to push you out. Yes, you may. I refuse to get out voluntarily. This incident began his life long battle against all discriminations. Although he debated returning to India, his duty came first. It would be cowardice to run back to India without fulfilling my obligation. The hardship to which I was subjected was superficial only a symptom of the deep disease of colour prejudice. I should try, if possible, to root out the disease and suffer hardships in the process. Redress for wrongs I should seek only to the extent that would be necessary for the removal of the colour prejudice. Gandhi also faced the same discrimination on a coach from Johannesburg to Charlestown, and learned the racial condescension of the racial slur coolie. A coolie is a historical term for manual labourers and a racial slur. The term was used in America towards the Chinese workers that built the railroad during the 19th and early 20th century and toward the Indians indentured laborers. On the coach, a white passenger did not want a coolie sitting inside with the other whites. Instead, he insisted that Gandhi sit on the floor at his feet on a sack. When Gandhi refused, the man physically assaulted him the man came down upon me and began heavily to box my ear. He seized me by the arm and tried to drag me down. I clung to the brass ... Sherlock Holmes is a crime series based in the Victorian era when feminists in this period were calling for women and children to have equal protection under the law (Miller 55). One thing is clear author Conan Doyle portrays women as a weakness in Holmes s visual approach, his extraordinary powers (Doyle 240) on crime cases, female criminals either get the last laugh or outwit him. As years went by many adaptations brought the adventures to life with their own twists and turns on their take on the story plot especially when it comes to criminality and femininity (Miller 30). Such as the BBC television show version of Sherlock of its version of The Abominable Bride or even CBS Elementary of its version of Irene Adler and Moriarty in The Woman episode, the question lays are the views truly different or any better when it comes to representing female criminals or women in general. • 6. Biography Of Leopold s A Sand County Almanac Essay Part A When one reads Aldo Leopold s A Sand County Almanac, it is difficult to not immediately find yourself lost in Leopold s enchantment with the nature that surrounds him. Leopold describes, month by month, the activities of the animals and nature around him in such a way that one is able to truly appreciate the often missed miracles that are happening all around us. One can easily deduct that the theme of A Sand County Almanac is very boldly proclaimed as Leopold s writings tell us to pause for a moment to appreciate and conserve the beautiful world that surrounds us. Let us consider the two key words of the theme, appreciate and conserve. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word appreciate as to, recognize the worth of ( Appreciate ). Leopold wants society to take a moment to recognize the worth of nature by providing us with a descriptive glance at elements of nature that we may often take for granted, such as animals foraging for food or the history of a tree. The Oxford English Dictionary defines the word conserve as to, protect (something, especially something of environmental or cultural importance) from harm or destruction ( Conserve ). Once we are able to appreciate nature, we become more aware of the importance of conservation. When you do not care about nature, it is easy to overuse and mistreat it in such a way that it harms the environment. On the contrary, if one is able to truly appreciate nature, he or she is much more conscious about the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Deadly Unna Essay Phillip Gwyne s novel, Deadly Unna? explores how the main character Gary Black, a white boy from the Port also known as Blacky grows up by not agreeing to racism. Blacky experiences prejudice and friendship from both the aboriginal and white communities. Blacky begins to develop a greater tolerance for aborigines and their culture, and then he further attempts to apply this knowledge to the intolerant and prejudiced town in which he lives. The boy who helps him shift in his opinion of aborigines is a local aborigine named Dumby Red , who lives in the aboriginal missionary The Point . Nice girls, but they ve all got the clap (Gonorrhea). Every last one of em . (Gwynne, 1998, p.122). Blacky thinks about this for a moment and agrees that Darcy is quite smart so decides to be careful of Clarence. Later in the story Blacky is sitting at the bar and Big Mac, the bar tender starts to tell a racist joke. When he finishes and the entire bar starts laughing, Blacky does not, he has heard and told the joke before and laughed at it, but it did not seem funny now because of his new friendship with Dumby and Clarence. This shows how Blacky has grown and how he has no humour for racisms. Blacky s thoughts about prejudice in the town are confirmed after the football presentations. When the McRae medal was won by Mark Arks (from the white boys footy team), Blacky could not believe that his town could go this far and be so racist, Dumby had contributed so much to the team all season, he had been the true team player and was the best and everyone in the Port new it, but they continued to say nothing, Blacky then became really angry. Blacky states; its bullshit, that s Dumbys trophy, (Ibid, p.133). Blacky realized how racist his town was against the Nungas (Aboriginals). This was the turning point of Blacky s view of the town. Blacky realized how much the Goonyas (white people) in his town hated the Nungas. Another example of Prejudice is when Blacky told Pickles and Darcy about Dumby s funeral both of them thought Dumby deserved to die just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia Essay examples Acute lymphocytic leukemia is also called acute lymphoblastic leukemia or ALL. This disease is primarily when the white blood cell, WBC, making tissue releases too many undeveloped lymphocytes. The immature lymphocytes then collect in lymph tissues. The tissues swell which makes it harder for the bone marrow to produce other blood cells. If the bone marrow cannot function properly the red blood cell, RBC, count decreases causing anemia. The bone marrow also cannot create the platelets needed to cause clots, therefore resulting in the body bleeding and bruising more easily. The lymphocytes can also invade other organs, impairing their ability to function properly. ALL accounts for twenty five percent of cancers affecting children under the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The leukemic cells start in either B or T lymphocytes. Approximately 80% of cases start with immature B cells. One to two percent are mature B cells. Fifteen to twenty percent of all cases are derived from T cells. These cases are associated with cases that occur in older males and a need for a higher dosage of chemotherapy. In addition, the chromosomes play an important part in the diagnosis of the subtype of ALL. The TEL AML1 fusion gene can indicate an early B cell type of leukemia. This gene also indicates a favorable prognosis. The bcr abl t translocation gene is seen in three to five percent of all cases. Those diagnosed with ALL that have this gene will have a higher WBC count and a poorer prognosis. A rearrangement of the MLL gene accounts for 80% of infant ALL cases. The prognosis for this is poor despite the use of high intensity chemotherapeutics. There is only a twenty percent survival rate (Esparza, Sakamoto, 2005). Manifestation of the Disease When diagnosing ALL a complete patient history is taken. The client would present with weakness, pallor, and fatigue indicating anemia. The client would be feeling pain in the bones and below the ribs. The client would experience headache from increased cranial pressure (Cancer, 2010). The client would also be prone to secondary infection due to the decreased production of immature WBC. This would present with fever and sweating. The client ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Relations Between Vietnam And The United States The situation that the Captain is faced with is multi faceted and complicated. The consequences of his decision may have results of strategic importance to the relationship between not only China and the United States, but between Vietnam and the U.S., as well as other peripheral nations that share interests and territorial claims in the South China Sea. Additional aspects impacting the situation include the history that is important to understanding China s thought process, humanitarian concerns, the very real American military requirement to come to the aid of American citizens under threat, and finally, the potential to become engaged in a kinetic engagement with a Chinese warship. All weigh heavily upon any decision making process, and can be analyzed through a combination of both consequentialism and deontological thought. Under those thought constructs, the captain is justified in acting to save the lives of the Americans in question. Both the consequences of a decision to act, as well as an analysis of the rightness or the duty of a decision to act are in the captain s favor. China has used historical claims to justify its territorial usurpations in the South China Sea. China s territorial claims are causing conflict in the region as Beijing seeks to control more area of the South China Sea, with one such example being the declaration of Chinese control out to the Nine dashed line. Additionally, it is only in the last one hundred or so years that China has ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She insisted on staying icy , with the world seen clearly and head spins exhilarating. It seemed like a switch in personalities through milliseconds making our photographic, flowerdness, and stormy lives more interesting than life should ve ever been. Photography is a passion we shared closer to our hearts then our own safety. There was a tree on the edge of the water that had a branch just high enough to jump off of where it s safe and still feel the adrenaline pumping through your veins. It took over 5 minutes to swim to the other side and by then Faye had wanted something that would make her mind icy for longer than just a couple minutes. Two girls sitting underneath a tree talking about traveling the world together, dreaming of the perfect twin brothers to come along by the age of 25, and sharing our feelings of difference from the world was routine. Yet, something was off... I didn t know what but it definitely wasn t the night for after dark parties or adrenaline rushes. The third fight was our last. The thought of her starting a fire across her skin before jumping in the ice cold lake left a feeling I couldn t explain. Jumping from the tree into the lake helped, I knew it did, but I couldn t let her jump tonight... She d do it alone and I d never let her spark adrenaline dangerously by herself. Sisters fight, it s a natural instinct. Except you never leave your baby sister behind when it s dangerous outside, no matter how mad you are. I did. Millions of cars searched the streets and calls... so many calls, were made to find Faye. It was an immediate search after I realized the selfishness of what I d done, leaving her there at the lake. Except, no one made it in time. The burn marks and cuts across our skin marked our stupidity, everyone knew. There s a reason why no one ever worried about us. We knew how to take care of ourselves and the ice we felt from the blade or the fire or the jumping was a shock to people at first. • 16. The Impact Of Technology On Technology Technology builds, transforms, and inspires. Every aspect of one s creative, personal, and professional life can be stored and backed up on technology. Because of its innumerable capabilities and relevance, one could infer that there is an oddly intimate relationship between humans and technology, simply by stating one would feel uncomfortable and naked without it. Mobile communication, more specifically social media, leads to a further understanding of how technology plays an influential role in the lives of youth. Many preadolescents acquire mobile devices and rely on them for the majority of their play; therefore at such a young age, the device and the child become inseparable which hinders the child from participating in other activities. In sum, parents or guardians should not let their children acquire a mobile device before the age of 10 to prevent advanced digital technology from invading and occupying their lives. The underlying problem is that one on one communication between parent and child is more impactful than the use of mobile devices because it allows both parent and child to have a more intimate and understanding relationship. Parents should be the example and be upfront with their children on monitoring online behavior, and furthermore, be challenging themselves to become more familiar with the complexities of the advancements of new technology so that they are aware of what their child could be a part of. The book does not focus on the typical father son, mother son, or even sibling sibling relationship. Instead, it expands this framework to include an even older generation, the grandparents. In many ways, the figure of the grandparent in our current culture and when the book was written take on an absent or separating characteristic. The line represents the parent generation recognizing and encouraging the need for the younger generation and the older generation to interact in this fantastical setting. This allows the world of Wonka to become even more fantastical as it also becomes a necessary foreground for the grandparent to become an active and present figure. It is both the chance to explore a new world and this new figure. However, it does not only look at the grandparent as a figure but also as a possible relationship. The grandparent is the only family figure and, therefore, a partner that accompanies Charlie on his journey. This not only incents interest in children but also good for them. It shows them that one does not need a parent or sibling to have this familial relationship. One can and in some cases should connect with this older though sometimes separate generation. This surgery must be done before you begin peritoneal dialysis. Dialysis is a treatment that replaces some of the work that healthy kidneys do. In peritoneal dialysis, these tasks are performed by transferring a fluid called dialysate to and from your abdomen during each session. Many people believe money magically illuminates complications and solves problems. America has been a capitalist state for decades, so money may be considered fundamental to our survival as Americans. This may be the case for many, but I disagree. I believe capitalism is the base for social, political and economic inequality and the idea of capitalism deceives us into thinking we as Americans cannot function without money. Capitalism creates complications and conceive problems. In capitalism, many private owners control the means of production, causing the government not to regulate their businesses. Thus, allowing exploitation to occur. The U.S will continue to collapse as long as we are a capitalist society. This system forces us to be greedy and greed forces us to be selfish individuals. Both written within ten years of each other, the main point it was trying to get across was the idea of one nation. They were written by the same people who all in all had similar ideas. There are many differences as well. From the main one being sovereign states, to how many states must approve an amendment. One reason for the difference is some had other interpretations of certain wordings.Unfortunately, this is what brought us the Civil War. The southern states felt that their constitutional rights had been violated when they were told they could not take slaves with them to the west. • 31. Theories About Human Behaviour And Its Effects On Human... Schacter (2012) defined Behaviourism as an approach that advocates that psychologists restrict themselves to the scientific study of objectively observable behaviour (pg 19). Behaviours that can be observed include covert behaviours, like thoughts and emotions, and behaviourism can be used to analyse these and then modify them. In the 20th century Pavlov, Thorndike, Watson and Skinner all played very important roles in the emergence of Behaviourism and helped tear away from other psychology fields. Theories about human behaviour were concluded by experiments on animals and how they interacted with their environment. This then led to different experiments in conditioning behaviour that was learnt from environment and reinforcement. As behaviourism is primarily concerned with observable behaviour, behaviourism believes that when you are born you start with a Tablu Rasa . Therefore this means that your behaviour has to be learnt through your environment. Behaviour is the result of a stimulus that is presented to either a human or an animal and this then will produce a certain response which has been moulded by their environment, this is called conditioning. From experiments that Pavlov has carried out, we know that there isn t a great difference in the way that humans and animals learn. Research can then be carried out with humans as well as humans.
