Video Games Do Not Encourage Violence Essay
Video games and violence
Over the years, the popularity of computer and video games has grown. Specifically violent video
games make up more than 50 % of the top selling games. These games include violent themes that
involve guns, crime, blood, and gore. There is an ongoing belief that these types of games are to
blame for the many acts of violence in society and have encouraged America s youth to act out in
aggression. Several organizations, such as the PTC (Parents Television Council) have moved to
discourage the development of violent games while also pushing for stronger regulations when
purchasing such games. There is also debate among parents and concerns on how games can
negatively influence their children. So is there a direct link between video games and violence? The
truth is video games do not encourage violence in society based on several factors which include
scientific studies, statistics on crime, and prevention measures adopted by game publishers.
Scientific Studies There have been several scientific studies to determine if video games do in fact
contribute to violence. One study was conducted by experimental psychologist in 2015 at the Oxford
Internet Institute at Oxford University. Lead by Dr. Andy Przybykaski, the study included research to
observe the behaviors of children during social gaming. Dr. Przybykaski also wanted to review the
affects gaming had on education performance in school. One part of the study found that found that

Research Paper On Mount Vesuvius
Mount Vesuvius
Mount Vesuvius is a strto volcano on the west coast of Italy. It is one of the active volcanos on
mainland of Europe. The destruction of Pompeii in 79 AD is the reason why lots of us know this
volcano. This is one of the most dangerous volcanos in the world because a large portion of people
live near it like, the city of Naples. Mount Vesuvius destroyed the city of Pompeii. The city was buried
by volcanic ash quickly thus the site is well persevered, which can be used by the geologist to find
more knowledge about how strto volcano works and its formation and also what s happening under it.
Before going any further, let s look at the history of Pompeii. Pompeii was being recovered from a big

However scientist nowadays has learned lots about Mount Vesuvius kinds of volcanoes, Strato
volcano to be more accurate. Scientist have been, observing the volcano (plus some other volcanoes
around the area). The study has found out that, around the area, there is a convergent boundary where
the African plate is colliding with the European part of Eurasian plate. This made the Alps on top of
Italy. Mount Vesuvius is south of that subduction zone. The subduction zone creates a vast amounts of
pressure on the plate that is on top of the zone. Hence, the volcanoes are formed so that the pressure
are released. It has also been to as a theory that, the area is a hotspot. A hotspot is a small area where
the magma under the crust is high temperate. This high temperature under the area creates volcano so
that they can be released. From this volcano we learned what kind of chemicals are found beneath the
volcano. The chemical that are to be found are, carbon dioxide (CO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2) or
hydrogen sulphide (H2S), nitrogen, argon, helium, neon, methane, carbon monoxide and hydrogen.
We learned how volcano is bad as well as why it is good! The matters that are thrown on the crust
after the explosion helps the soil to be for fertile, so that more plants can be grown there in future.
Science has helped us to know lots of characteristics of the volcano by studying Mount Vesuvius.

CHRYSLER CORPORATION: NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN DAIMLER AND CHRYSLER
In January 1998, Jürgen Schrempp, CEO of Daimler Benz A.G., approached Chrysler Corporation s
chair and chief executive officer (CEO), Robert Eaton, about a possible merger, acquisition, or deep
strategic alliance between their two firms. As Schrempp argued: The two companies are a perfect fit of
two leaders in their respective markets. Both companies have dedicated and skilled work forces and
successful products, but in different markets and different parts of the world. By combining and
utilizing each other s strengths, we will have a preeminent strategic position in the global marketplace

Under the leadership of Lee Iacocca and with the support of federal loan guarantees, Chrysler
managed to turn itself around one more time, returning to profitability in 1982. While the late 1980s
proved tough for the industry as a whole, the introduction and meteoric rise of the family minivan (a
market controlled 47% by Chrysler as of 1996), coupled with the 1987 acquisition and subsequent
exploitation of the Jeep brand name, left Chrysler the envy of the U.S. auto market by the mid 1990s.
As Fortune magazine stated in late 1996, If a vehicle is in demand and generates high profit margins,
you can bet Chrysler s making it. 4 While Chrysler s success and relatively conservative management
style attracted praise from industry observers, it also attracted the attention of Las Vegas billionaire
Kirk Kerkorian, who with the help of retired Lee Iacocca, mounted a hostile bid for Chrysler in 1995.
The (U.S. dollar) $55 per share ($27.50 today following a 2 for 1 stock split in 1996) not only failed to
win the approval of Chrysler s board, but also turned out to be largely unfinanced, leaving Chrysler to

How To Do The Right Thing In The Movie Pan
Many people just go with the flow because of their fear of being ridiculed and isolated if they do the
right thing. Doing the right thing, no matter what it may appear like in the immediate future, will
almost always turn out better. The idea of always doing the right thing is supported by a boy named
Peter in the movie Pan. He is enslaved in a work camp with thousands of other boys, where they were
forced to mine gems for the powerful empire. Everyone else there had abandoned the idea that they
would ever be free; however Peter did what he knew was right even though he ran the risk of being
killed. He rallied a small militia by giving them hope and rebelled against the cruel empire. As a result
of his courageous actions he, and all of the

Identify And Explain The Difference Between Voluntary And...
Every day, our body naturally responds to environmental stimuli by one of two mechanisms, a
voluntary reaction or an involuntary reflex. The nerves and muscles work together to respond to a
change in the body s environment, both internal and external, with the intent of maintaining a
homeostatic state. Common reflexes include slipping and righting oneself, as well as immediately and
naturally withdrawing a body part that made contact with a hot object. A reflex typically occurs prior
to the brain fully processing the information regarding the stimulus. Conversely, a voluntary action is
controllable and learned by experience (G). The most well
known learned response is Pavlov s dogs,
who were shown to salivate at the ring of a bell because it signaled food was coming.
Both voluntary and involuntary responses go through neural pathways beginning with a receptor that
receives a stimulus from the environment. This stimulus elicits an action potential, which carries ...

Many factors, including receptor function, neuron stimulation, length/complexity of neuronal
pathway, difference between sensory/motor neuron conduction velocities and synaptic transmission,
influence the reaction time. Of utmost importance is the synaptic transmission, which refers to how
presynaptic cells communicate with postsynaptic cells by releasing neurotransmitters which, when
collected at the postsynaptic cells receptors, work to engage a response. This process has the potential
to be altered for any duration of time by either improving or impairing its potential. Postsynaptic
neurons receive both excitatory and inhibitory inputs, which have the capability to increase or
decrease the likelihood of the nerve firing an action potential. Both types of input are being applied to
the receptor at all times while

century. In this essay I will analyze some of the literary genre discourses Bellamy uses in chapters
nineteen through twenty four. Bellamy discusses how crime was considered an illness and that the
people that committed a crime needed medical attention. Another scientific discourse Bellamy use is
the physical health between the nineteenth century and twentieth century. In chapter nineteen Bellamy
explains the new legal system, and on how crime has become an illness. Dr. Leete explains to Julian
that there are not any jails now a days. All cases of Atavism is treated in hospitals (150) . Dr. Leete
explains to him that the classless society and the giving of riches or wealth have reduced crime. There

Medical School Tuition Cost Essay
Medical school tuition is reputable for being expensive and a risky investment. Although the tuition
price can range from various medical schools, the price of each school should be consistent for
individuals. Unfortunately, the illusion of a meritocracy proves evident when comparing the medical
debt of students from differing racial/ ethnic backgrounds. These articles explore the hypothesized
reasons as to why Blacks and Whites have higher rates of medical school debt, in contrast to Asians
and Hispanics. Some proclaim that these results are due to an individual s socio economic status. On
the other hand, others present the idea that it could be a result of attempts to diversify the medical

Furthermore the study does not provide enough evidence to pinpoint specific reasons as to why these
disparities exist. A continuation of the study and deeper analysis of student s financials resources
would improve the research. Jolly examines the effects medical school tuition has on prospective and
former students. He used data collected by the AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges)
questionnaire distributed to medical students in 2003. The reports from the AAMC questionnaire show
variation in average debt of college students, and also displays the differences in graduates debt by
race. Jolly compares the differences of indebtedness of each race to the influence debt has on medical
school decisions. By doing so, Jolly is able to see if minorities obtain more debt than non minorities.
The results of the data displayed a discrepancy between the debt of blacks and whites versus Asians
and Hispanics. Yet the difference of debt amongst the races is less than 5%, and thus considered to be
not significant in the study. The data seems reliable as it measures the debt of medical students after
graduation and not prior to. However the data is based on self reported questionnaires, which could
lead to a non response bias. The study also is inconclusive in determining how race impacts a medical
student s debt. Rather, Jolly focuses more on the financial resources the student has (i.e. family
wealth). The affirmative action of medical schools are often racially biased

Analysis of Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird by...
The title of Wallace Stevens poem, Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, is misleading, because
he does not only offer thirteen ways of looking at blackbird, but the poem offers us many insights on
how humans think. Blackbird , written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, has many similarities
with Thirteen Ways of Looking at A Blackbird other than just their titles. They use many poetic
conventions to explain their poem s ideas, both writers use a blackbird to compare to humans and
human nature, and imagery plays a big role in getting across their points. Sometimes poets use
different conventions to give the poem a better flow. Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird , by

But how does a glass coach cast a shadow? Why are there now multiple blackbirds? Poets have many
tools to convey what they are trying to say, but the most effective and interesting way is by using
imagery. This puts a picture in the mind of the reader to go along with the words. Imagery is used
many times in both Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird and Blackbird. The best example of
imagery from Wallace s poem is found in stanza six: Icicles filled the long window With barbaric
glass The shadow of the blackbird Crossed it, to and fro... This stanza portrays a feeling of being
enclosed in a room. The icicles that fill the window remind us of bars on a jail window, which portrays
a closed in feeling. How does this affect how we see the blackbird? Through the window we cannot
see the blackbird itself, possibly referring to the beauty of inflections in stanza five. We can, though,
see the blackbirds shadow, possibly the beauty of innuendoes? This closed in feeling depicts how,
many times, we limit ourselves to our own preferences and opinions. As you can see, Stevens uses his
imagery to present symbolic elements in his work. In the song Blackbird, Lennon and

Similarities And Differences Between Octavian And Han China
The Han (206 BCE 220 CE) established their rule in China after a power struggle between regional
leaders following the fall of the Qin dynasty. Liu Bang, a commander from the Han region, established
himself as the leader of China in 206 BCE. The Roman empire (31 BCE 476 CE) emerged in a similar
manner. Octavian, the grandnephew of Julius Caesar, emerged victorious after a civil war in Rome
caused by the assassination of Caesar in 31 BCE. Religion played a part in consolidating the rule of
both of these leaders. Liu Bang consolidated his rule via the Mandate of Heaven which made him a
link between the heavens and the people. Octavian was given the title Augustus by the Senate. The
name is associated with religion and it implies that the beholder is divine or semi divine. Liu Bang and
Octavian were not the first to introduce centralization to their respective empires. The Han followed
the footsteps of the Qin empire and Augustus followed after Caesar s centralized government
structure. They both organized and administered their government by building upon the government
structure of their predecessor. As a result they both ruled in a centralized way with some key
differences. A similarity in technique of imperial administration between Han China and Imperial
Rome is that both maintained and administered their empire by using roads for communication and
transportation. A difference is that in Rome, conquered land was commonly ruled by elites who
obtained it by purchase or

Aboriginal Australia as a Dream Culture
To better understand Aboriginals as a Dream Culture I want to give more insight into Aboriginal
Australians general culture and their conceptions of Dream Time. In his discussion of religion, Mircea
Eliade describes a concept of Cosmos vs Chaos (Eliade 1957). In this notion an unordered world is
chaotic only until is it transposed during a sacred time: By occupying it and, above all, by settling in
it, man symbolically transforms it into a cosmos though a ritual repetition of the cosmogony (Eliade
1957:31). In other words until a land is tamed or created it is considered unordered. This can be
applied to Aboriginal s understanding of the world prior to their current presence. Aboriginals believe
that in a time before the Dreamings, the land and world was a featureless earth. It was not until the
dreamtime, or time of creation: where there is contact with appearances from both realms of inside the
earth itself as from ill defined upper region that the earth began to have its composed landscapes
(Cowan 1992:26). The Dream Time is not only a period but more of a dimension where ancestral
beings moved across the earth and created not only land, but every aspect of the earth including
animals, plants, and man. It is important to realize that the ancestors created the natural earth and that
is why Aboriginals live a particular lifestyle. Most Aboriginals living in this cosmogony are hunter
gatherer tribes. This aspect of their life can be traced to stem from the idea of

You need to carry out an exercise programme exactly as specified in the care plan and record and
report the outcomes and any problems at each step. Others involved in an individual s mobility
activities could include an occupational therapist, physiotherapist, G.P. or community nurse.
If the mobility activities are less formal and the outcome required is to maintain the individual s
mobility on a daily basis this can be done through active support and encouragement. You should
encourage the individual to do things for themselves and participate in activity and exercise where
possible. An example would be to encourage their participation in household activities You should
identify and agree with the individual the best way for them to maintain their mobility and any
preferences to the form of exercise they prefer. It is important to ensure the individual agrees as it is
important they are willing to participate in order for the programme to work.

Valencia Road Essay
Valencia Road reveals society s humanity. Kindness and understanding have become scarce, if not
disappeared completely in today s society. We re so wrapped up in our own lives we forget about those
around us. No longer does a neighbor knock on your door asking for a cup of milk or sugar for tonight
s dinner. Instead you re probably too busy arguing over property lines to remember their last name.
These relationships are explored in ELO Films new short film Valencia Road. The 7 minute short
directed and written by Logan George and Celine Held captures the interactions and decisions of
strangers in a desperate situation. What we stand to learn is how sometimes even the most tragic
events cannot bring us together. The film beings as our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The thoughts we know our characters are having and yet can t seem to say out loud. For instance this
first happens when Catherine called the police. She calls and reports she has seen a car accident, but as
the operator is asking her questions, instead of dealing with the issue at hand she is more concerned
with how long this will take? Even with the possibility of someone being dead inside that car, her
biggest concern is time? This is emphasized as a car barrels down the road next to her not even
bothering to stop. What our filmmakers are trying to do is appeal to our humanity. They want us to
feel the connection to the world and to the woman in the car, only to shut us down like so many of us
have shut the world out. This aspect of the film is what makes it so incredibly upsetting yet
enlightening. We witness a connection between Catherine and the woman in the car and then it is
taken away from us without a second thought. After the car crash Catherine calls the woman hoping to
develop some sort of relationship but is disappointed when the woman wants nothing to do with her.
The audience feels just as disappointed but why? This is the purpose of the film. The filmmakers so
cleverly want us to reach for this connection and we expect it to be reciprocated. The truth is, that isn t

Analysis Of The Education Of Cyrus
Rohan Baishya
HUEN 1010 Dr. Brooks
Short Paper #2
Due 03/20/17
In The Education of Cyrus, Xenophon addresses a critical query immediately in questioning how one
can rule over human beings without opposition or revolt. Xenophon initially reasons that no regime
can effectively do that, but after seeing the education and life of Cyrus, he argues that ruling all others
without revolution is not only plausible, but not even difficult if done with knowledge. Through his
education and virtues, Cyrus acquired the knowledge to not only be a successful king, but rule over
the entire known world, effectively proving to Xenophon that it is possible to rule over all human
beings successfully. Cyrus was more than a king, but rather the founder of an ... Show more content on

He chooses mercy over destruction so that as he conquers more and more land, human beings choose
to love him and join him, while being grateful to him for sparing them and giving them the
opportunity to do so. Not only that, but Cyrus keeps his followers and allies happy, showering them in
luxuries and rewarding them for showing virtue for his cause, making his cause their cause as well.
This system where people are rewarded for their virtues motivates the people he rules to stand by him
and becomes the basis for what Cyrus calls justice in his empire. Despite these virtuous courses of
actions Cyrus learned to take, Xenophon points out that successful military strategy and diplomacy
cannot be procured unless one has virtues such as discipline, drive, compliance, prudence, generosity,
and valor that Cyrus displays and acquires through his life and education. Xenophon emphasizes that
as necessary as superior battle strategies, competent and willing allies, appealing laws, and diplomacy
are, they do not amount to anything without a virtuous leader educated in leading in such a manner as
Cyrus was.
Cyrus, rather than marching onwards and leaving a path of destruction in his wake as many empire
builders of his time did, instead won the favors of the people he defeated, keeping their homes and
cultures intact yet also not only giving them the opportunity to join him, but having them want to be
ruled by him. Cyrus was an attractive leader who through his life,

Rights of Women in the Nineteenth Century and in Henrik...
Henrik Ibsen, who was born in Norway but made his name internationally, was a painter as well as the
one of most famous playwrights during the period of Realism. Ibsen s plays are well known by the
themes of domestic and political issues and conflict in nineteenth century. Scholars call it Ibsen s
problems play (Henrik Ibsen, 650). In addition, in Ibsen s plays, the general topics that are usually
discussed are hypocrisy of the society, restriction of women, and the self sacrifice.
Under the influence of Industrial Revolution, the conflict between classes and the struggle among
workers were becoming more and more intense, especially among women. By responding to French

12 Angry Men Analysis
The movie, 12 Angry Men, encourages the audience to fully develop their own ideas and find a logical
reason behind something before jumping to conclusions. The 12 jurors participate in a group
discussion over the trial of a young man charged with murdering his father. At many points, this
discussion becomes hostile and provokes feelings of disdain and frustration among the jurors. Mr.
Davis, Juror Eight, displays his core beliefs of open mindedness, work ethic, and ability to think
logically to create reasonable doubt in the minds of the other jurors.
Mr. Davis, in the movie, maintains an open mind and pulls on the other jurors to have an open mind as
well because the boy may die (Rose, 12 Angry Men). Having an open mind is important in the movie
because the facts and evidence can be interpreted in many ways and it is always good to see
something from a different angle. While Davis remains open to the ideas of other, Juror Three and
Four, throughout the movie, argue that the boy is guilty only on two pieces of evidence without
looking at the rest of the evidence or from a different angle. This idea of looking at the evidence they
believe is likely support those beliefs (University Of Pennsylvania, Authentic Happiness) is named
selective exposure and for good reason. Juror Three and Four provoke distain among the rest of the
jurors through this selective exposure. Open mindedness has been touted by philosophers of education
as a vital characteristic of the educated mind (Taylor, Openmindedness) and is crucial to being able to
fully conclude whether or not the boy is guilty in the trial. A required skill for living a full life and
properly understanding certain topics is being open minded. Mr. Davis exemplifies an understanding
for this concept and applies it to the trial that could result in the boy being executed.
Work ethic is required to get something done and Mr. Davis exemplifies a strong work ethic in order
to convince the rest of the jurors that there is reasonable doubt (Rose, 12 Angry Men). There are
multiple times throughout the movie that Mr. Davis and Juror Nine discuss how it is only one night (
Rose, 12 Angry Men) and that they will do whatever it takes ( Rose, 12 Angry Men) to make the

Passion In Medea
Typically, throughout history a tragedy has been defined by containing a male hero who goes from
happiness to misery. Medea is just one example of an Ancient Greek play which actively rejects this
trope. Written in 431 BC by Euripides, Medea is based on the Greek myth of Jason and Medea
wherein Medea is rejected by her husband and resorts to killing their children in an act of vengeance.
It can be argued whether her actions were justified or whether she was acting out of passion as a fickle
, emotional woman. Worthen argues that woman are seen as creatures of passion whereas men
represent the organizing principles of the Greek state: Reason, the law and legitimate society. This
argument is based on the idea that passion and emotion are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Why does she feel the need to go further? Medea uses the excuse that they won t be killed by another
hand less kindly than them but the children are his property, an extension of himself, of his identity ...
the children are his successors, representing his continued presence in the world. (65) Medea s
decision to murder her children can be seen as a sublime act, as she puts her desire for vengeance and
justice above her own feelings. It can be said that choosing the pain or suffering that you will endure
is recognition of your own free will. Medea was aware she was being exiled and she had already lost
her husband, thus by choosing to kill her children she was regaining control of her situation.
Furthermore, she represents the women in her community, who are viewed as second class citizens.
The way that Medea and, she argues, all women is positioned as an outsider, an exile to the governing
categories of Greek life, is a deeper, more permanent isolation than her exile. The Chorus, a vital part
of a tragedy according to Aristotle, describe a world where men will be known for deception women
will be honoured, representing a reversal of presumed

the eyes. Boyle writes Equipped with a huge helmet and a handy wrist attached device, future fighter
pilots will have maps, surround sound, radar and infrared vision all at their fingertips even when they

access and use of all command control technology at the swipe of a finger or touch even when they re
not inside of the fighter jet as long as they have the full angled helmet and touch screen device on

dependent on movement to use the control panel rather than touching a touch screen placed on their

Nell Gwyn Research Paper
Research Paper In 1660 there was a major restoration in the theatre community. One of the most
impactful results of the restoration was the allowance of women on stage. Before the restoration
women s roles were played by young boys ( Women In Restoration Theatre on WordPress.com. ). As
one can imagine the appearance of women on stage did not settle easily with the common population.
The first women to hit the European stage, Nell Gwyn, did not make it easy for the people to accept
the new change either. Here are some reasons why. Nell Gwyn was born in February 2, 1650. Her
father died in a debtor s prison when she was an infant causing her to be raise with her mother in the
bawdyhouse of Covent Garden. Nell s sister, Rose, influenced her to become a Orange Girl at Drury
Lane Theatre ( Nell Gwyn. ). It did not take long for her talents to be noticed. The same can also be
said about the scandal around her to come. Nell stood out in many ways, but she caught the eyes of
many suitors due to her fiery red hair and gorgeous hazel eyes. She did not have the typical look of the
other women with dark hair and eyes. Nell was not only beautiful; her fun and witty personality made
her even more desirable. Charles Hart, leading actor of the theatre, saw Nell s beauty and began his
love affair with her (Abernethy, Susan). ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Close Reading Analysis There could not be a be a more fitting quote in Things Fall Apart by Chinua
Achebe that describes the overall setting of the book than the quote above. While someone who reads
Things Fall Apart may interpret the title as a reflection of Okonkwo s downfall from the colonist s

Although President Madison stressed U.S. neutral rights as the principle reason for war, other reasons
were probably more important. This statement is true in the fact that neutral rights was not the only
reason the Americans citizens chose to fight for the new sovereign country. After the War of
Independence in America, the newly formed country began to spread its wings and test out being a

Sustainable Tourism In Ugand Principles Of Sustainable...

Sustainable tourism is a very important element today because it not only meets the needs of the
present but also protecting and increasing opportunities of destinations for the future. Uganda (M.
Semakula M. Kiwanuka, 2017) is a country located in east central Africa, which has diverse
ecosystems such as rainforest jungles, high volcanic mountains on the border or the Albert Nile River

problems, environmental degradation and the spread of AIDS epidemic. By the beginning of the 21st
century, Uganda has taken new steps in political stability and gradually resolved its remaining
problems and became Africa s fastest growing economy. This paper is going to discuss about the key
issues and challenges in managing Uganda in term of two principles of sustainable development
(responsibility and responsible citizenship) in context to sustainable host communities and
collaborative partnerships.

According to Michael Campbell (Director of University of Manitoba) (Youtube, 2013), the key issues
in Uganda are deforestation and disappearance of some wildlife. Deforestation is an alarming situation

that correspond to it. This would include 1099 tax documentations and old W 2s. if you are unable to

If the business no longer has copies of these documents on file for you, then phone the IRS and ask for

King Arthur invented the idea of chivalry. Chivalry was a code used by the Knights of the Roundtable

At the same time, middle and upper class women were increasingly confined to the home with little to
do except to take care of their children. Their husbands no longer worked inside the house, but were

had the vapours and fainted in any indelicate situation. On the other hand, many of them also became
critical of their position in society. They found time to devote themselves to various religious and

Eventually, both working class and bourgeois women insisted on change and contributed to the

Predator Prey Relationships
The relationship between predators and their prey is an intricate and complicated relationship;
covering a great area of scientific knowledge. This paper will examine the different relationships
between predator and prey; focusing on the symbiotic relations between organisms, the wide range of
defense mechanisms that are utilized by various examples of prey, and the influence between
predators and prey concerning evolution and population structure. Symbiosis is the interaction
between organisms forming a long term relationship with each other. Many organisms become
dependent on others and they need one another or one needs the other to survive. Symbiotic
interactions include forms of parasitism, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Parasites are what is called host specific, this means that their anatomy, metabolism, and life style is
adapted to that of their host(1973). Some parasites react to the behavior of their hosts, an interaction
called social parasitism(1989). More simply put a parasite might take advantage of the tendencies of a
particular species for the benefit of it s own. An example of this is the European Cuckoo. In this case
the grown cuckoo destroys one of the host birds eggs and replaces it with one of it s own(1991). The
host bird then raises the cuckoo nestling even when the cuckoo is almost too large for the nest and
much bigger than the host bird(1991). This is a case where the parasite uses the host to perform a
function and making life and reproduction easier on itself. Parasite and host relationships hold an
important part of homeostasis in nature.(1975). Parasitism is an intricate component in the regulation
of population of different species in nature. Mutualism is another topic at hand in discussing predator
prey relationships. Mutualism is a symbiotic relationship in which both members of the association
benefit(1989). Mutualistic interaction is essential to the survival or reproduction of both participants
involved(1989). The best way to describe the relationships of mutualism is through examples. We will
give examples of mutualism from different environments. Bacteria

International Business Project: The Czech Republic
Introduction
The Czech Republic is a small, landlocked country located in Central Europe, southeast of Germany,
bordered by Austria, Germany, Poland, and Slovakia. Slightly smaller than South Carolina, the Czech
Republic covers 78.866 square kilometers (sq km): 77,276 sq km of land and 1,590 sq km of water.
Following the First World War, the closely related Czechs and Slovaks of the former Austro
Hungarian Empire merged cultures to form Czechoslovakia. During the interwar years, the country s
leaders were frequently preoccupied with meeting the demands of other ethnic minorities within the
republic, most notably the Sudeten Germans ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Czech Republic became a member of the European Union (EU) on May 1, 2004. Through the
course of the accession process, most barriers to trade in industrial goods with the EU have been
eliminated. The process of accession had a positive impact on reform in the Czech Republic, and
implementation of EU directives and regulations continues. The U.S. Department of Commerce
Country Commercial Guide for the Czech Republic summarizes the economic trends and outlook this
way:
The principal industries are motor vehicles, machine building, iron and steel production,
metalworking, chemicals, electronics, transportation equipment, textiles, glass, brewing, china,
ceramics, and pharmaceuticals. The main agricultural products are sugar beets, fodder roots, potatoes,
wheat, and hops. As a small, open economy in the heart of Europe, economic growth is strongly
influenced by demand for Czech exports and flows of foreign direct investment.
Heavy industry received major economic support during the 1950s, but central planning resulted in
waste and inefficient use of industrial resources. Although the labor force was traditionally skilled and
efficient, inadequate incentives for labor and management contributed to high labor turnover, low
productivity, and poor product quality.
The Czech koruna (crown) became fully convertible for most business purposes in

Importance Of Curriculum For Excellence Essay
Curriculum for Excellence emphasises that all children are entitled to a learning experience where
they feel secure, accepted and valued as members of their class and school community. Learning
environments which have a positive influence on children, achieved by promoting inclusion and
equality, are essential to the Scottish curriculum (CfE, 2004). Getting It Right for Every Child (2007)
policy supports this. Their aspiration is for all children to be fully supported as they grow into
Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens.
Therefore, teachers and practitioners have a responsibility in ensuring children are nurtured, achieving
and included.
However, although many children gain the most they can from the learning opportunities that schools
provide, some will struggle to benefit fully from their learning experiences without additional help and
support (COP, 2010). The Education (Scotland) (Additional Support for Learning) Act 2004 (as
amended 2009) (hereafter, ASfL Act), provides the legal definition for Additional Support Needs
(ASN): A child or young person has additional support needs for the purposes of this Act, where for
whatever reason, the young person is or is likely to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Curriculum for Excellence (2004) emphasises the importance of numeracy across learning and states
that All teachers, regardless of the subject being taught, are responsible for supporting, developing and
extending learners numeracy skills and for ensuring that what a child has learned in earlier years is
built upon, practiced and refreshed regularly throughout their time at school. (CfE, n.d, page 1).
Therefore, teachers awareness of children s mathematical skills and understandings proves key in
order for them to adapt learning experiences that will effectively benefit, support and extend their

A Woman And Her Doctor
In the United States, women have experienced different struggles. From not being able to vote to
having politicians say what they can do with their bodies. A writer who can relate to these inequalities
is Martha Mendoza, her essay Between a Woman and Her Doctor appeared in Ms. Magazine.
Mendoza used different rhetorical strategies such as: imagery; pathos; logos to highlights the struggles
that she went through to receive a medical abortion.
Mendoza wrote this essay in accordance to the audience that was going to read this article. Ms.
Magazine is a women s magazine, which is mostly read by liberal females in their thirties to forties.
Martha Mendoza can relate to this audience because she fits the mold of who Ms. Magazine is
catering too. This magazine publishes articles that deals with problems that are affecting women in the
world today. Abortion is one of those main issues, Mendoza is a normal person who s experienced
something that the average person usually won t experience. You can look at why the irony in the title
of Between a Woman and Her Doctor. As you read this essay you see that it involves everyone, but a
woman and her doctor.
Martha Mendoza s Between a Woman and Her Doctor begins with Mendoza describing herself in the
office of her gynecologist. This is the first example of Mendoza using the rhetorical strategy of pathos.
Immediately in paragraph 2, Mendoza describes her doctor coming in and telling her that her baby is
dead. The way she described the

Alienation, By Karl Marx
Alienation has been widely reported in the area of work by Karl Marx on the example of a worker.
According to him work for the laborer is an external element that does not belong to his essence. By
doing work one feels unhappy which prevents him from developing the physical and spiritual energy
and causes the ruin of the spiritual and mortification of the flesh. Marx notes that work of the laborer
is an external because it is not his own, does not belong to him, and the worker should not be in the
process of working for himself, but for someone else. He calls it loss of self, placing himself in
sacrifice, and calls it a work in which man alienates. Marx contends that man gets to be seen as a
product worth just the work he makes and man is further lessened to a subsisting creature bereft of any
limit of flexibility with the exception of the will to work. According to Marx there are four forms of
Alienation that exists in capitalist society. Viewing the worker as a product of labor means that the
more the worker works hard, the more production of the product hence not giving them time to either
relax or attend to family issues. The worker spends most of the time in the object and their life does
not belong to them anymore but belongs to the product they are manufacturing. This means that the
greater the object the worker is producing, the less himself. I remember the times when my good
friend started to work in certain software company where

Consolidation of Nazi Power 1933-1934 Essay
Account for the initial consolidation of Nazi power in 1933 1934 Due to the failure of the Weimar
Republic and general public dissatisfaction arising from poor economic conditions exacerbated by the
Treaty of Versailles, coupled with the 1929 Wall Street Crash, German citizens were understandably
desperate for change. Until this point in time the Nazi party, and Hitler, had been essentially
unpopular. However, the economic situation ensured Hitler s increasing popularity as the people
looked toward more extreme but non communist ideals. The initial consolidation of Nazi power in
1933 arose from key events such as the support of the Nationalist Party with the Nazis to form a
coalition government, implementation of the Enabling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though Hindenburg was re elected with a ballot of 53%, Hitler was only marginally behind with
a ballot of 36.8%. By the 1932 election, the Nazi s accounted for 37.3% or 230 seats in the Reichstag.
These figures meant that the Nazi party were the largest party in the Reichstag, although they did not
have an outright majority and therefore could not assume automatic power. By January 1933, Hitler
was appointed Chancellor by President Hindenburg. The Reichstag fire was probably the trigger
which enabled Hitler to convince the Government that the communists were plotting against them. A
young communist, Marinus Van Der Lubbe, was blamed for the fire and therefore the communist
reputation was damaged in favor of the Nazi Party. At the March 1933 election, the Nazi party did not
have sufficient numbers to form a majority, however the Nationalist Party joined the Nazi s to form a
coalition government and therefore gave Hitler control of the Reichstag. Hitler seized this opportunity
and on 23rd March introduced the Enabling Act , which gave him complete control over Germany,
however he still needed approval of the Reichstag to pass laws. The Nazis placed enormous pressure
on all parties using intimidation in the Reichstag and used the Law for the Protection of the People to
prevent communists from taking their seats in Parliament. The SS, (which was Hitler s own private
army), physically beat members of

  • 2. Video Games Do Not Encourage Violence Essay Video games and violence Over the years, the popularity of computer and video games has grown. Specifically violent video games make up more than 50 % of the top selling games. These games include violent themes that involve guns, crime, blood, and gore. There is an ongoing belief that these types of games are to blame for the many acts of violence in society and have encouraged America s youth to act out in aggression. Several organizations, such as the PTC (Parents Television Council) have moved to discourage the development of violent games while also pushing for stronger regulations when purchasing such games. There is also debate among parents and concerns on how games can negatively influence their children. So is there a direct link between video games and violence? The truth is video games do not encourage violence in society based on several factors which include scientific studies, statistics on crime, and prevention measures adopted by game publishers. Scientific Studies There have been several scientific studies to determine if video games do in fact contribute to violence. One study was conducted by experimental psychologist in 2015 at the Oxford Internet Institute at Oxford University. Lead by Dr. Andy Przybykaski, the study included research to observe the behaviors of children during social gaming. Dr. Przybykaski also wanted to review the affects gaming had on education performance in school. One part of the study found that found that children who play ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Scientist have been, observing the volcano (plus some other volcanoes around the area). The study has found out that, around the area, there is a convergent boundary where the African plate is colliding with the European part of Eurasian plate. This made the Alps on top of Italy. Mount Vesuvius is south of that subduction zone. The subduction zone creates a vast amounts of pressure on the plate that is on top of the zone. Hence, the volcanoes are formed so that the pressure are released. It has also been to as a theory that, the area is a hotspot. A hotspot is a small area where the magma under the crust is high temperate. This high temperature under the area creates volcano so that they can be released. From this volcano we learned what kind of chemicals are found beneath the volcano. The chemical that are to be found are, carbon dioxide (CO2), sulphur dioxide (SO2) or hydrogen sulphide (H2S), nitrogen, argon, helium, neon, methane, carbon monoxide and hydrogen. We learned how volcano is bad as well as why it is good! Merger and Acquisition Case UV0085 Version 2.2 CHRYSLER CORPORATION: NEGOTIATIONS BETWEEN DAIMLER AND CHRYSLER In January 1998, Jürgen Schrempp, CEO of Daimler Benz A.G., approached Chrysler Corporation s chair and chief executive officer (CEO), Robert Eaton, about a possible merger, acquisition, or deep strategic alliance between their two firms. As Schrempp argued: The two companies are a perfect fit of two leaders in their respective markets. Under the leadership of Lee Iacocca and with the support of federal loan guarantees, Chrysler managed to turn itself around one more time, returning to profitability in 1982. While the late 1980s proved tough for the industry as a whole, the introduction and meteoric rise of the family minivan (a market controlled 47% by Chrysler as of 1996), coupled with the 1987 acquisition and subsequent exploitation of the Jeep brand name, left Chrysler the envy of the U.S. auto market by the mid 1990s. As Fortune magazine stated in late 1996, If a vehicle is in demand and generates high profit margins, you can bet Chrysler s making it. 4 While Chrysler s success and relatively conservative management style attracted praise from industry observers, it also attracted the attention of Las Vegas billionaire Kirk Kerkorian, who with the help of retired Lee Iacocca, mounted a hostile bid for Chrysler in 1995. The (U.S. dollar) $55 per share ($27.50 today following a 2 for 1 stock split in 1996) not only failed to win the approval of Chrysler s board, but also turned out to be largely unfinanced, leaving Chrysler to continue under its current management. • 8. Identify And Explain The Difference Between Voluntary And... Every day, our body naturally responds to environmental stimuli by one of two mechanisms, a voluntary reaction or an involuntary reflex. The nerves and muscles work together to respond to a change in the body s environment, both internal and external, with the intent of maintaining a homeostatic state. Common reflexes include slipping and righting oneself, as well as immediately and naturally withdrawing a body part that made contact with a hot object. A reflex typically occurs prior to the brain fully processing the information regarding the stimulus. Conversely, a voluntary action is controllable and learned by experience (G). The most well known learned response is Pavlov s dogs, who were shown to salivate at the ring of a bell because it signaled food was coming. Both voluntary and involuntary responses go through neural pathways beginning with a receptor that receives a stimulus from the environment. This process has the potential to be altered for any duration of time by either improving or impairing its potential. These articles explore the hypothesized reasons as to why Blacks and Whites have higher rates of medical school debt, in contrast to Asians and Hispanics. He used data collected by the AAMC (Association of American Medical Colleges) questionnaire distributed to medical students in 2003. The reports from the AAMC questionnaire show variation in average debt of college students, and also displays the differences in graduates debt by race. Jolly compares the differences of indebtedness of each race to the influence debt has on medical school decisions. By doing so, Jolly is able to see if minorities obtain more debt than non minorities. The results of the data displayed a discrepancy between the debt of blacks and whites versus Asians and Hispanics. Yet the difference of debt amongst the races is less than 5%, and thus considered to be not significant in the study. The data seems reliable as it measures the debt of medical students after graduation and not prior to. However the data is based on self reported questionnaires, which could lead to a non response bias. The study also is inconclusive in determining how race impacts a medical student s debt. Rather, Jolly focuses more on the financial resources the student has (i.e. family wealth). The affirmative action of medical schools are often racially biased ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The title of Wallace Stevens poem, Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, is misleading, because he does not only offer thirteen ways of looking at blackbird, but the poem offers us many insights on how humans think. Blackbird , written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon, has many similarities with Thirteen Ways of Looking at A Blackbird other than just their titles. They use many poetic conventions to explain their poem s ideas, both writers use a blackbird to compare to humans and human nature, and imagery plays a big role in getting across their points. Sometimes poets use different conventions to give the poem a better flow. Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird , by Wallace Stevens uses assonance to make the poem have a ... Poets have many tools to convey what they are trying to say, but the most effective and interesting way is by using imagery. This puts a picture in the mind of the reader to go along with the words. Imagery is used many times in both Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird and Blackbird. The best example of imagery from Wallace s poem is found in stanza six: Icicles filled the long window With barbaric glass The shadow of the blackbird Crossed it, to and fro... This stanza portrays a feeling of being enclosed in a room. The icicles that fill the window remind us of bars on a jail window, which portrays a closed in feeling. How does this affect how we see the blackbird? Through the window we cannot see the blackbird itself, possibly referring to the beauty of inflections in stanza five. We can, though, see the blackbirds shadow, possibly the beauty of innuendoes? This closed in feeling depicts how, many times, we limit ourselves to our own preferences and opinions. • 16. Similarities And Differences Between Octavian And Han China The Han (206 BCE 220 CE) established their rule in China after a power struggle between regional leaders following the fall of the Qin dynasty. Liu Bang, a commander from the Han region, established himself as the leader of China in 206 BCE. The Roman empire (31 BCE 476 CE) emerged in a similar manner. Octavian, the grandnephew of Julius Caesar, emerged victorious after a civil war in Rome caused by the assassination of Caesar in 31 BCE. Religion played a part in consolidating the rule of both of these leaders. Liu Bang consolidated his rule via the Mandate of Heaven which made him a link between the heavens and the people. Octavian was given the title Augustus by the Senate. The name is associated with religion and it implies that the beholder is divine or semi divine. Liu Bang and Octavian were not the first to introduce centralization to their respective empires. The Han followed the footsteps of the Qin empire and Augustus followed after Caesar s centralized government structure. They both organized and administered their government by building upon the government structure of their predecessor. As a result they both ruled in a centralized way with some key differences. A similarity in technique of imperial administration between Han China and Imperial Rome is that both maintained and administered their empire by using roads for communication and transportation. • 17. Aboriginal Australia as a Dream Culture To better understand Aboriginals as a Dream Culture I want to give more insight into Aboriginal Australians general culture and their conceptions of Dream Time. In his discussion of religion, Mircea Eliade describes a concept of Cosmos vs Chaos (Eliade 1957). In this notion an unordered world is chaotic only until is it transposed during a sacred time: By occupying it and, above all, by settling in it, man symbolically transforms it into a cosmos though a ritual repetition of the cosmogony (Eliade 1957:31). In other words until a land is tamed or created it is considered unordered. This can be applied to Aboriginal s understanding of the world prior to their current presence. Aboriginals believe that in a time before the Dreamings, the land and world was a featureless earth. It was not until the dreamtime, or time of creation: where there is contact with appearances from both realms of inside the earth itself as from ill defined upper region that the earth began to have its composed landscapes (Cowan 1992:26). The Dream Time is not only a period but more of a dimension where ancestral beings moved across the earth and created not only land, but every aspect of the earth including animals, plants, and man. It is important to realize that the ancestors created the natural earth and that is why Aboriginals live a particular lifestyle. Most Aboriginals living in this cosmogony are hunter gatherer tribes. Analysis Of The Education Of Cyrus Rohan Baishya HUEN 1010 Dr. Brooks Short Paper #2 Due 03/20/17 In The Education of Cyrus, Xenophon addresses a critical query immediately in questioning how one can rule over human beings without opposition or revolt. Xenophon initially reasons that no regime can effectively do that, but after seeing the education and life of Cyrus, he argues that ruling all others without revolution is not only plausible, but not even difficult if done with knowledge. Through his education and virtues, Cyrus acquired the knowledge to not only be a successful king, but rule over the entire known world, effectively proving to Xenophon that it is possible to rule over all human beings successfully. This system where people are rewarded for their virtues motivates the people he rules to stand by him and becomes the basis for what Cyrus calls justice in his empire. Despite these virtuous courses of actions Cyrus learned to take, Xenophon points out that successful military strategy and diplomacy cannot be procured unless one has virtues such as discipline, drive, compliance, prudence, generosity, and valor that Cyrus displays and acquires through his life and education. Xenophon emphasizes that as necessary as superior battle strategies, competent and willing allies, appealing laws, and diplomacy are, they do not amount to anything without a virtuous leader educated in leading in such a manner as Cyrus was. Cyrus, rather than marching onwards and leaving a path of destruction in his wake as many empire builders of his time did, instead won the favors of the people he defeated, keeping their homes and cultures intact yet also not only giving them the opportunity to join him, but having them want to be ruled by him. The 12 jurors participate in a group discussion over the trial of a young man charged with murdering his father. At many points, this discussion becomes hostile and provokes feelings of disdain and frustration among the jurors. Mr. Davis, Juror Eight, displays his core beliefs of open mindedness, work ethic, and ability to think logically to create reasonable doubt in the minds of the other jurors. Mr. Davis, in the movie, maintains an open mind and pulls on the other jurors to have an open mind as well because the boy may die (Rose, 12 Angry Men). Having an open mind is important in the movie because the facts and evidence can be interpreted in many ways and it is always good to see something from a different angle. While Davis remains open to the ideas of other, Juror Three and Four, throughout the movie, argue that the boy is guilty only on two pieces of evidence without looking at the rest of the evidence or from a different angle. This idea of looking at the evidence they believe is likely support those beliefs (University Of Pennsylvania, Authentic Happiness) is named selective exposure and for good reason. Juror Three and Four provoke distain among the rest of the jurors through this selective exposure. Open mindedness has been touted by philosophers of education as a vital characteristic of the educated mind (Taylor, Openmindedness) and is crucial to being able to fully conclude whether or not the boy is guilty in the trial. A required skill for living a full life and properly understanding certain topics is being open minded. Mr. Davis exemplifies an understanding for this concept and applies it to the trial that could result in the boy being executed. Work ethic is required to get something done and Mr. Davis exemplifies a strong work ethic in order to convince the rest of the jurors that there is reasonable doubt (Rose, 12 Angry Men). Medea is just one example of an Ancient Greek play which actively rejects this trope. Written in 431 BC by Euripides, Medea is based on the Greek myth of Jason and Medea wherein Medea is rejected by her husband and resorts to killing their children in an act of vengeance. It can be argued whether her actions were justified or whether she was acting out of passion as a fickle , emotional woman. Medea was aware she was being exiled and she had already lost her husband, thus by choosing to kill her children she was regaining control of her situation. Furthermore, she represents the women in her community, who are viewed as second class citizens. For at a better avail shall I never have him. Arthur was determined to fight Sir Mordred despite the fact that Mordred was his son. Arthur did the right and just thing when he fought his son. Amy Farrell points out, The chivalric virtues of wisdom, faith, charity, and justice were among the many ideals of the Knights Code of Chivalry in the Middle Ages. So Arthur was very chivalrous when he fought his son. King Arthur knew it was he duty to fight his son, but it was also the just thing to do. For this reason, Arthur was very chivalric in this ... At the same time, middle and upper class women were increasingly confined to the home with little to do except to take care of their children. Their husbands no longer worked inside the house, but were absent during most of the day. These idle women often played the role of frail, sensitive creatures who had the vapours and fainted in any indelicate situation. On the other hand, many of them also became critical of their position in society. They found time to devote themselves to various religious and moral causes and even to become interested in abolition and the women s rights movement. Eventually, both working class and bourgeois women insisted on change and contributed to the success of feminism. This success still is not total, and, as we all know, even in the industrialized countries women continue to fight for equal rights. Today, however, in addition to economic issues, problems of sexual self determination have come to the foreground. It must be remembered, of course, that the relatively liberated and affluent women of Europe and North America are only a small minority of women in the world today. Women in many non Western countries, and especially in the so called Third World generally live in a state of subjection and misery. Most of their energy is consumed by a hard and unrelenting struggle for sheer survival. Thus, for them, any talk about sexual liberation in the Western sense ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Parasites are what is called host specific, this means that their anatomy, metabolism, and life style is adapted to that of their host(1973). Some parasites react to the behavior of their hosts, an interaction called social parasitism(1989). More simply put a parasite might take advantage of the tendencies of a particular species for the benefit of it s own. An example of this is the European Cuckoo. In this case the grown cuckoo destroys one of the host birds eggs and replaces it with one of it s own(1991). The host bird then raises the cuckoo nestling even when the cuckoo is almost too large for the nest and much bigger than the host bird(1991). This is a case where the parasite uses the host to perform a function and making life and reproduction easier on itself. Parasite and host relationships hold an important part of homeostasis in nature.(1975). Parasitism is an intricate component in the regulation of population of different species in nature. Mutualism is another topic at hand in discussing predator prey relationships. Mutualism is a symbiotic relationship in which both members of the association benefit(1989). Mutualistic interaction is essential to the survival or reproduction of both participants involved(1989). The best way to describe the relationships of mutualism is through examples. • 42. Importance Of Curriculum For Excellence Essay Curriculum for Excellence emphasises that all children are entitled to a learning experience where they feel secure, accepted and valued as members of their class and school community. Learning environments which have a positive influence on children, achieved by promoting inclusion and equality, are essential to the Scottish curriculum (CfE, 2004). Getting It Right for Every Child (2007) policy supports this. Their aspiration is for all children to be fully supported as they grow into Successful Learners, Confident Individuals, Effective Contributors and Responsible Citizens. Therefore, teachers and practitioners have a responsibility in ensuring children are nurtured, achieving and included. However, although many children gain the most they can from the learning opportunities that schools provide, some will struggle to benefit fully from their learning experiences without additional help and support (COP, 2010). The Education (Scotland) (Additional Support for Learning) Act 2004 (as amended 2009) (hereafter, ASfL Act), provides the legal definition for Additional Support Needs (ASN): A child or young person has additional support needs for the purposes of this Act, where for whatever reason, the young person is or is likely to ... • 44. Alienation, By Karl Marx Alienation has been widely reported in the area of work by Karl Marx on the example of a worker. According to him work for the laborer is an external element that does not belong to his essence. By doing work one feels unhappy which prevents him from developing the physical and spiritual energy and causes the ruin of the spiritual and mortification of the flesh. Marx notes that work of the laborer is an external because it is not his own, does not belong to him, and the worker should not be in the process of working for himself, but for someone else. He calls it loss of self, placing himself in sacrifice, and calls it a work in which man alienates. Marx contends that man gets to be seen as a product worth just the work he makes and man is further lessened to a subsisting creature bereft of any limit of flexibility with the exception of the will to work. According to Marx there are four forms of Alienation that exists in capitalist society. Viewing the worker as a product of labor means that the more the worker works hard, the more production of the product hence not giving them time to either relax or attend to family issues. The worker spends most of the time in the object and their life does not belong to them anymore but belongs to the product they are manufacturing. This means that the greater the object the worker is producing, the less himself. I remember the times when my good friend started to work in certain software company where productivity ... Until this point in time the Nazi party, and Hitler, had been essentially unpopular. By the 1932 election, the Nazi s accounted for 37.3% or 230 seats in the Reichstag. These figures meant that the Nazi party were the largest party in the Reichstag, although they did not have an outright majority and therefore could not assume automatic power. By January 1933, Hitler was appointed Chancellor by President Hindenburg. The Reichstag fire was probably the trigger which enabled Hitler to convince the Government that the communists were plotting against them. A young communist, Marinus Van Der Lubbe, was blamed for the fire and therefore the communist reputation was damaged in favor of the Nazi Party. At the March 1933 election, the Nazi party did not have sufficient numbers to form a majority, however the Nationalist Party joined the Nazi s to form a coalition government and therefore gave Hitler control of the Reichstag. Hitler seized this opportunity and on 23rd March introduced the Enabling Act , which gave him complete control over Germany, however he still needed approval of the Reichstag to pass laws.
