The Mountains Of Central Appalachia
Trent Brown
Professor Lautenshlager
English 2614
30 November 2014
The mountains of central Appalachia have always been known for, almost exclusively, the
booming coal deposits that inhabit it, as well as the controversy that comes with the industry. The
controversy that involves the wildlife, ecosystems, and residents of the area is one with fine lines,
gray areas, and more than simply a good and evil side. The mountains of Kentucky, Virginia, West
Virginia, and Tennessee are also home to some of the most extensive biodiversity in our country, as
well as rich cultural heritage that extends to the earliest years of our nation. Everything that makes
central Appalachia unique and identifiable is exactly what they might be in jeopardy of losing.
Surface mining began to replace traditional underground mining around WWII (Bozzi 116). Rather
than digging into the mountain to extract the coal, strip mining involves removing the overlying
soil and rock that covers the coal deposits (Lutz 1). It seemed appealing at first because the
previous known dangers of black lung disease and cave ins were now limited with the surface
mining method (Bozzi 116). However, surface mining came with it s own problems, a lot of them
being more serious and irreversible than underground mining (Allen 182). This method of surface
mining was the spark that created the trend of mountaintop removal (Bozzi 117). Mountaintop
removal is the complete destruction of the mountain peak in order to reach coal

Ahura Mazda Beliefs
The Zoroastrian creation myth says that in the beginning, there was nothing in the world but Ahura
Mazda, the Wise Lord, who lived in the Endless Light. And the evil Spirit Ahriman, who lived in the
Absolute Darkness. And between these realms was emptiness.
One day, Ahura Mazda decided to make different creations. First he shaped the sky made of metal,
shining and bright. Second, he made pure water. Third, he created the earth, flat and round with no
mountains or valleys. Fourth he made the plants, moist with no thorns. Fifth, created animals, big
and small.
Belief in supreme and universal god Ahuramazada is the supreme, omniscient and omnipotent God
who symbolizes truth, radiance, purity, order, justice, courage, strength and patience.

Corporate Social Responsibility And Sustainability
Introduction
This article is study of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainability. It mainly speaks
about the origin and the operations of CSR programs in the United States of America from the 1980
s.
One of the most dominating concepts of business reporting is Corporate Social Responsibility. It
has become mandatory for every business to include a policy with regards to CSR and produce a
detailed report with regards to its activities. CSR can be defined as the relationship between a
corporate company and the society in which the company operates. The concept of CSR became
famous during the late 1960 s and since then it has helped corporations to sustain itself in the
market.
CSR plays a very important role in the sustainability of every department in the corporation
including marketing and management. Corporations are very particular in maintaining a
sustainable corporate socially responsible environment. While marketing a product they make sure
that they endorse it in the right way as it is the responsibility of the company to provide the right
facts of the product to the society. In the same manner with regards to Management corporations
make sure that they are socially responsible.
Three Principles put together can help us understand CSR in a much better way.
пѓ Sustainability: Sustainability shows how actions taken in the present affect the future.
Marketing a product would affect the consumption of the product in the future, also in the field of

Spanish Edict Of Expulsion
The history of the Jewish people in Spain is certainly a pivotal time period that changed the future
of the Jews and specifically, the Sephardic Jews. At the time of the issuing and signing of the Edict
of Expulsion on March 31, 1492, Spanish Jews were experiencing the most persecution that had
been felt in the many centuries of which the Jewshad been in Spain. Spanish Jewry came to a
dramatic end after almost a millennium of Jewish presence in the country. Spanish Jewry s golden
age, however, the Jews experienced almost no persecution, resulting in a new centre of Talmudic
study, before suffering from a relapse of anti Semitism that eventually led to the Inquisition and the
Edict of Expulsion. (SOURCE 1) This essay will discuss and analyze... Show more content on

For the Jews, it was almost impossible to maintain any sliver of wealth that they had in Spain,
since Jews were forbidden to leave Spain with gold, silver or any other precious metals. As a
result, only their must prized or important possessions could be taken to their new home, as they
were physically restricted for what they could take. A delegation of influential Jewish people
including the Chief Rabbi of Castile, Abraham Senior and Issac Abarbanel, a financial adviser to
the state appeared before Ferdinand and Isabella as a last ditch effort to save Spanish Jewry and
cancel the Edict of Expulsion. The delegation presented the catholic monarchs with a bag of
gold to support their argument, however, Ferdinand and Isabella remained unchanged in
respects to the Edict. The Jews began searching for their new homes, and most Jews, unwilling
to embark on a long voyage to a different region of the world, sought to immigrate to Portugal,
just west of Spain on the Iberian Peninsula. (SOURCE 8) A delegation of Jews approached the
King of Portugal, John II, and presented him with a large sum of money for the permanent
admission of affluent Jews into Portugal as well as a temporary home for poor Spanish Jews.
(SOURCE 9) Shortly after, the Jews once again had to look for a new home after Manoel I, the
new king of Portugal expelled the Jews from the country as a compliance with the daughter of

Database
Database is defined as a set of related data in many tables and uses links through something called
foreign keys. In a Database product you can create and modify several databases.
DBMS
It stands for Database Management System, it is a concept of rules that all the latest and major
database systems follow. So most databases systems follow these rules but some only follow
specific rules.
To summarize, a database is an organized data collection or information that happens to be easily
accessible, changed or updated. A DBMS is a type of software that may manage and control
databases on a PC.

Elvis Presley Influence
Rock and roll music was really started by this one quote: I don t sound like nobody (Marsh).
This quote was said by Elvis when he first met Sun founder Sam Phillips, during a recording
session that Elvis was making for his mother s birthday. Phillips liked Elvis voice and singing
style so much that he thought Elvis was a black man! The public would also have this theory
about him until they actually saw him. Of course, when Elvis Presley walked into Sun Studios in
Memphis, Tennessee, even he could not predict that he was about to change the course of music
history forever. Elvis Presley is the true definition of a rock star. He has basically had music all
around him his entire life. From first hearing the depressing bluesfrom the Mississippi... Show more

Presley was also a terrific dancer, and broke the rules in traditional showmanship, which often
put him in the middle of controversy. Presley has already appeared six times on national
television, but it is his appearance on The Milton Berle Show on June 5, 1956, that triggers the
first controversy of his career. Presley sings his latest single, Hound Dog, with all the pelvis
shaking intensity his fans scream for (Marsh). Elvis chose to dance in this manner to express
himself, and did not see any issues surrounding it. He did what he felt like doing, and would
inspire artists such as James Brown and Jim Morrison of The Doors to have a breathtaking stage
presence. For this reason, several religious groups were outraged at Elvis chosen form of
expression, and started protesting the young singer. Television critics across the country slam the
performance for its appalling lack of musicality, for its vulgarity and animalism. The Catholic
Church takes up the criticism in its weekly organ in a piece headlined Beware Elvis Presley.
Concerns about juvenile delinquency and the changing moral values of the young find a new
target in the popular singer (Marsh). The churches were particularly angered at Presley s dancing,
and rallied against him, much to the chagrin of the teenage fans. In like manner, newspapers
would express public outcries of why Elvis music should be banned from their towns, leading to a
short decline in Elvis record sales. With these two characteristics of performing, Elvis would go on
to inspire countless musicians, all over the

Jerome Kaiser, CPA is AirTouch s former CFO and corporate secretary. Both of these men were
responsible for the management of AirTouch s business. With so much power within the

What Is The Long Walk Essay
All of the sudden, the Navajos were forced to move off their land without any reason as to why.
They were kicked out of their homes and held captive against their will and either had the choice
to move or die. The Long Walk is about how the U.S. government forced the Navajos to walk from
their homeland to a fort in New Mexico. Many died from the journey to imprisonment. Did the U.S.
government do the right thing to send the Navajos on a 300 mile trek or should the U.S.
government have left the Navajos at their homeland? The topics that will be discussed is what the
Long Walk was, previous conflicts between the U.S. government and the Navajos and what
happened after the Navajos returned to their homeland.

Some of the people who were involved were U.S.army soldiers, one of whom was Kit Carson.
Mainly, though, they were Navajos: including men, women and children. Many Navajos refused to
be confined upon a reservation by the U.S. government. This journey was lead by Kit Carson and
if any Navajo resisted they would be killed.
Kit Carson was born on December 24, 1809 in Kentucky. He was raised on the Missouri frontier
and had to give up his education to help his mother raise his 10 siblings after his father died in
1818. Even then he became an experienced trapper and hunter in his twenties, and by the 1850s he
was an American soldier. Kit Carson eventually became an American Indian agent and most of his
military was directed against the Navajo Indians. This is how he became the leader of the Long
Walk.
After the Navajos arrived at Fort Sumner for imprisonment there were too many people, nearly
double of the Fort s capacity. There were issues with firewood, water and crops. There was not
enough firewood to supply the warmth needed. The water was bad and made many sick with
diseases. The crops failed and were infested by worms not giving them enough food for everybody
to eat. So many of the Navajos died due the government s lack of

PEST stands for political, economical, social and technological factors. Two more factors, the legal
and environmental factor, are defined within the PESTLE analysis. To explain these environmental
factors, it is necessary to say that most of the factors depend on each other and that they change
over the years. Consequently, when one factor changes it also affects the others. The equality for
every company is the main characteristic of the factors in an environmental analysis. The different
environmental factors are covered below.

Political and legal factors are here regarded as a unit. They refer to framework given by politics.

Changing Medicare And Social Security
Changing Medicare and Social Security to means tested benefits Policy Analysis Notably, the
elderly populace is growing rapidly, and will reach 3.4 million or 12.8% of the population.
Eventually, in the next thirty years older adults will comprise of 20% of the total population due to
the aging of 76 million baby boomers (Olson, 2001). Seeing that, entitlementprograms and means
tested benefits, are presented, in order to bolster this increment of older adults. Accordingly,
around 96% of the American workforce is secured by Social Security and it is likewise estimated
that 58 million American will receive a total of $816 billion in Social Security benefits (Moody and
Sasser, 2015). In fact, today 56 million or 17% of the population is enlisted in Medicare(Leonard,
2015). Therefore, this has presented an open deliberation about the eventual fate of Medicare and
Social Security and regardless of whether changing Medicare and Social Security to means tested
benefits, instead of entitlementprograms can resolve the policy issues.
Discussion
At present, entitlement programs, which is, a federal program that guarantees a certain level of
benefits to persons or other entities who meet requirements set by law (Entitlement Program,
2015) incorporates programs, for example, Medicare and Social Security. However, because of
expanding insecurity of these programs the likelihood of changing Medicare and Social Security to
means tested benefits is being considered for a policy

Descriptive Essay On A House Of The House
The nipping cold hits my face as I stroll through the woods looking for the cabin that I grew up
in. When I trudge through the crunchy snow it makes a sound like it is October with the crisp
fallen leaves underneath my feet. Up ahead I soon spot the cabin made out of walnut wood. It
looks so magnificent sitting up on top of the hill with the sun beaming its glistening rays from
behind on each side. As I enter through the wooden gate surrounding the house I recall all the
memories of Christmases before that were made in this house. I remember the good smells and
sounds from years past and hope that they come back this year.
When I enter into the creaky hundred year old house I see mice sneaking nibbles from leftover
cookies that were made last year. As I drop my luggage to the floor dust fills the room. I realize
that I should probably clean the house before I start unpacking. After I clean and unpack I go back
outside to collect some firewood. While I am out there I get blinded by the sun that is reflecting off
of the snow and I almost fall into the flowing river. It isn t quite frozen over yet and the water
splashes softly into the ice that is forming. As I walk back to the house with the wood that I have
collected I see deer bound up to the river and start drinking. I stop, mesmerized by their beauty. The
stiff fur that surrounds them shines in the sun as they drink the bitter cold water. I decide to leave
them alone and trot back to the house.
The room is undecorated

Assisted Suicide Research Paper
After researching assisted suicide I have more questions than when I started. The definition of
assisted suicide is very factual: suicide facilitated by another person, especially a physician, who
organized the logistics of the suicide, as by providing the necessary quantities of a poison (The
definition of assisted suicide2016). After much research I have learned that assisted suicide is an
option one has to make depending on their moral standards, will to live, and how they want to die
rather than a factual process one can follow. Assisted suicide is currently legal in five states:
Oregon, Vermont, Washington, California and Montana (Physician Assisted Suicide Fast Facts
2016). Each state differs in the process toward obtaining physician assisted suicide approval, but all
follow the generic rule that one must have the mental capability to communicate their own
decisions regarding their terminal illness(How to Access and Use Deathwith Dignity Laws 2016). I
question how one can truly make such a decision for themselves if they are in pain from their
terminal illness. In California they have the rule that one must submit two oral requests, each
fifteen days apart, and a written request to the attending physician (Physician Assisted Suicide
Fast Facts 2016). I feel this is a great way of avoiding patients who may be making this decision
based off of impulsive drives and decisions. Other guidelines to being eligible for assisted suicide
includes that one must be eighteen

Sephor A Retail Chain Of Perfume And Cosmetics Stores Essay
1.About Sephora
Sephora is a retail chain of perfume and cosmetics stores founded in 1969 by Dominique
Mandonnaud. It first started as a small perfumery in Limoges, France, called Shop 8 and was
revolutionary at that time due to its concept of assisted self service . The store had an open sell
setting where customers could try the products before they bought them and where the organisation
of the products was by type, not by brand as in every other store.
In 1993, Mandonnaud bought 38 retail cosmetics stores from the UK s Boots PLC chain and
merged them with the 12 Shop 8 stores that the company already had at that time. The stores were
then rebranded to what is known today as Sephora.
Although Sephora s initial strategy was to expand within France and its surroundings such as
Monaco and Luxembourg, after the company was acquired by Louis Vuitton MoГ«t Hennessy
(LVMH) in 1997, it started pursuing a global international strategy. With every store around the
world, Sephora maintains similar products, overall atmosphere and services and every strategic
decision is made by the higher management at the headquarters.
Its first international store was opened in 1998 in New York City and the company began to expand
in the European market, starting with Italy. However, not every country was hospitable to Sephora
s expansion such as the United Kingdom, Spain and Japan, where the company struggled.
Nowadays, the Sephora brand is available in 31 countries having over 2000 stores

A History Of The English Church And People
When Bede was writing A History of the English Church and People the conflicts between
Christians and pagans were still not long a ago and Christianity was not yet as dominant in
England as it would be in the future. Therefore, the memories of these conflicts were still fresh
within some people s minds and Bede made sure to record it. Bede wrote the history of past events
of Christianitys struggles, the great men that protected it and enforced it. He wrote so that
Christians would have an example on how to act in order to achieve greatness, how to avoid sin
and how to strengthen Christianity and the Church itself in England. Bede thought that
greatness is achieved only in one way and that was being a good, devout Christian. He used the
history of King Oswald s life as an example of what it meant to be great and what are the rewards
for achieving greatness. He wished everyone who read his history to follow in Oswald s
footsteps as he continuously mention in his written work history records good things of good
men, the thoughtful hearer is encouraged to imitate what is good . He gives many examples of
Oswald s deeds as a devout Christian, but his number one achievement was bringing the faith to
the lands of Bernicia. He came to Bernicia to fight heathen kings while at the same time showing
a great trust in God, as before the battle he set up a holy cross and made everyone in his army pray
before upcoming battles. it seems that there was no evidence of the

does Cuba have a bit of an indecisive economy their economy also seeks reliability from other

Fahrenheit 451 Quote Analysis
In Fahrenheit 451, Bradbury shows us that this book is described as a totalitarian dystopian
story. In the beginning of the book he explains the hatred that is held by the people against
books and he carries out this theme throughout the whole story. By stating So now you see why
books are hated and feared? They show the pores in the face of life. The comfortable people want
only wax moon faces, poreless, hairless, expressionless (Bradbury 83). This quote is stating that
the government is taking control over people by taking the little things, such as books, that
provide mankind with information on a day to day basis, making it easy for the people s minds to
grow and become more educated. Within the quote that is used, Bradbury uses imagry when he
says pores in the face of life he is refuring to the knowledge that comes from the books that leads
people to questioning the authority compared to the ignorance of the society that is shown

Silver Essay In Chemistry
1.Ancestry
Discovered in approximately 3000 BC, silver is one of the oldest elements known to man. Why
was it so easy for miners in Turkey and Greece to discover, one may ask? Silver is also one of the
most abundant elements found on earth and was not difficult to come across when mining
mountains and rocks. (Silver, 1)
The exploration of silver mines in Laurium, Greece is significantly responsible for the rise of
Athens in 600 BC. Additionally, in medieval times, German mines became the main source of
silver in Europe, allowing the country to flourish and become what it is today. Silver proved to be
an important part of the successes of many civilizations, including the ancient civilizations of
Central and South America, who were rich deposits of silver in countries such as Peru, Bolivia and
Mexico. (Silver, 1)
The element of silver is known to have a symbol of Ag. While this may surprise some due to its
lack of resemblance to the actual name, this character has an explanation. Silver was originally
known as seolfor : an Anglo Saxon name, and while this is how its name came to be, silver
possesses the symbol Ag because of the fact that it is an abbreviation of the Latin word for silver,
argentum. (The Element Silver, 1)

The Limitations Of Male Prison Suicide
The limitations in prior research inspired the current study which aimed to review research
investigating patterns of self inflicted deaths or suicide among early stage male prisoners and long
term prisoners in England and Wales, as well as considering implications for interventions. Eleven
English language peer reviewed studies (2003 2015) met the inclusion criteria. The reviewed papers
highlighted particular patterns or factors that are synonymous with suicideamong the targeted
population. Previous studies suggest that male prisonsuicide is largely a product of the restrictive
prison regime, isolation, and psychiatric illnesses among other factors. Factors that were
continuously associated with suicide in prisons among early stage and long term male prisoners
highlighted by the current study included psychological factors and substance abuse as the most
significant inflictions. Adjustment to prison regime, entrapment and poor social and family support
complete the list of major contributory factors to male prison suicides. The only differences
between the groups were the frequency of effect of particular factors on decisions to take one s life.
A large number of methodological concerns within these studies were also noted. These included
the limitations posed by face to face interviews in some qualitative studies, in which participants
could have been dissuaded from admitting that certain issues such as childhood sexual abuse were

(esophagus). The reflux aggravates the lining of the food pipe and causes GERD. When the
patient has symptoms like acid reflux and heartburn at least twice a week or when those signs
affect the daily life, or the doctor sees damage to the food pipe, GERD can be diagnosed. Most
people can take care of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the symptoms don t get better within a few weeks, the doctor suggests other treatments, which
can include medication and surgery. Treatment can start with OTC antacids like Maalox,
Mylanta, Rolaids and Tums to neutralize stomach acid. To reduce the production of stomach
acid, H 2 receptor blockers, which containing cimetidine, can be used. Some of these medications
are Tagamet HB, Pepcid AC, and Zantac. The antacids offer instant relief, whereas the H 2
receptor blockers don t act as quickly, but can decrease acid production up to 12 hours to
provide longer relief. They usually have to be taken on a daily basis to be effective. If a
stronger dose is needed, a prescription from the doctor is required. Prevacid 24 HR, Prilosec and
Zegerid OTC are proton pump inhibitors and are stronger blockers of acid production than the H 2
receptor blockers and allow the damaged esophageal tissue time to heal. If these medications are
needed longer than two to three weeks or the symptoms are not relieved a doctor should be
consulted. Your doctor may suggest prescription medications if heartburn continues. These can
include prescription strength H 2 receptor blockers; Tagamet, Pepcid and Zantac, and prescription
strength proton pump inhibitors; Nexium, Prevacid, Zegerid, Protonix, Aciphex and Dexilant. The
use of these medications is generally tolerated. A slight increase in

Osei Tutu Research Paper
An able military leader, Osei Tutu, won control of the trading city of Kumasi. From there he
conquered neighboring peoples and unified the Asante kingdom. Osei Tutu had been a hostage in
the Denkyera court but had escaped eastward to the powerful state of Akwamu, where he was
exposed to new ideas of political and military organization. When he returned to Kumasi, some
Akwamu accompanied him. One was a priest, Okomfo Anokye, who is usually given credit for
introducing the legendary Golden Stool, which, according to Asante tradition, was brought down
from heaven by the priest, and, as the repository of the spirit of the nation, became the symbol of
the mystical bond between all Asante. Osei Tutu helped to build up the Asante kingdom and make

The Asante faced a great challenge in the Denkyera, a powerful neighboring enemy kingdom. Osei
Tutu realized that in order to withstand the Denkyera, the people of his kingdom needed to be
firmly united. To do this, he claimed that his right to rule came from heaven, and that people in the
kingdom were linked by spiritual bonds. This strategy paid off when the Asante defeated the
Denkyera in the late 1600s. Under Osei Tutu, government officials, chosen by merit rather than by
birth, supervised an efficient bureaucracy. They managed the royal monopolies on gold mining and
the slave trade. A monopoly is the exclusive control of a business or industry. The Asante traded
with Europeans on the coast, exchanging gold and slave for firearms. They also played rival with
Europeans against one another to protect themselves. In this way they built a wealthy, powerful

Analysis Of The Mouse By H. H Munro
The Mouse is a short story written by H.H Munro. The main characters are Theodoric, the mouse,
and the blind lady. The author Munro writes the story in third person and uses an omniscient view.
The setting of the story takes part in the vicarage, the stable, and the ends in train compartment. The
tone used by the author to engage his readers is an exciting, thrilling fast paced tone that bring the
characters to life. To strengthen the thrilling exciting tone, the author uses phrases such as: he was
not even alone in his own clothes. A warm, creeping movement over his flesh betrayed the
unwelcome and highly resented presence, unseen but poignant, of a strayed mouse. After reading
the quote above, I as the reader was drawn into the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

unthinkable to that he should continue for the space of the whole hour... and how can he
undress in front of a lady without a reasonable explanation: an idea that made his ears tingle in a
blush of abject shame (Munro, 1). The author continues to thrill his audience as thoedoric

Essay On Brain Stimulation
At baseline, before stimulation, it was found that the more depressed an individual was, the less
activation there was in the prefrontal lobes and caudate nucleus (Teneback et. al, 1999). Teneback
et. al (1999) also noted that following high frequency treatment, they noticed that the people who
responded to the treatment had increased inferior frontal gyrus activity compared to those who did
not respond to treatment and days later they also had decreased medial temporal activity. The
prediction is that while both the responders and non responders showed changes in a Single Photon

al, 2012). It was also found that better outcomes occurred for patients that were younger with a
lower baseline depression (Carpenter et. al, 2012). Studies have found improvement in cognitive
functioning along with symptoms of depression. The improvement of depression symptoms was
linked with an improvement in visuospatial memory, verbal memory, long term memory recall,
working memory, information processing speed, and orientation (Serafini et. al, 2015). It is
predicted that the improvement in cognitive functioning occurs due to the relief of symptoms, but
it is also postulated that the improvement of cognitive function improves depressive symptoms
(Serafini et. al, 2015; Kedzior et. al, 2015). However, more research needs to be done to determine
the temporal precedence and to better understand the cognitive improvement. Research is still being
done to determine the best techniques to have the maximum impact when using TMS to treat
depression. Currently, the length of stimulation and number of sessions is standardized, so little to
no research is being completed. Two weeks of daily sessions with a 30 second cycle, 2 seconds
stimulation and 28 seconds off, repeated 40 times per session. Since this protocol has been proven
to be effective in countless studies, there is not a rush to find a better alternative. It was found that

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Is The Future Of Package Delivery
It s a bird, it s a plane, no it s a delivery drone. Delivery drones are the future of package delivery.
A delivery drone is an unmanned aerial vehicle. Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV s) have a long rich
history of good and bad testimonials, the first noted use was in 1849 by the Australians when they
launched two hundred pilotless balloons mounted with bombs against the city of Venice 11.
Another milestone took shape during World War II when countries employed the use of radio
controlled unmanned bombers. The last sixty years thereafter the United States Military fine tuned
their drone capabilities to assist in many other conflicts to preserve human life11.Because of the

The best tool for setting delivery drones apart from military drones is educating the public on the
differences. First, it is pertinent to explain how these drones work. In order to describe how
drones work, you have to first distinguish them from their predecessors: remote control
helicopters. According to Michael Perry, public relations manager at drone maker DJI, the key
differentiator between the two airborne devices is that drones have some level of autonomy
meaning they can fly, hover, or navigate without input from a pilot 2. The inputs for autonomous
flight include: power modules that can be battery, solar, or gas, sensors, altimeters, a GPS chip,
and radio waves. These inputs are inducing processes that include determining navigational routes,
determining altitude, and communication with other drones and their controller. Produced from
these processes are the outputs of delivery, status updates, and actual flights. Aside from the
inputs, process, and outputs that are needed for flight, drones will have to collect a multitude of
data to be able to handle any transactions. To further move up the value chain, adding sustainable
value to drone delivery business, picking up packages will be essential and because of that it is
important to discuss the areas of data in reference to both delivery and picking up packages. There
are four areas that data collection will be required in for the drone pickup and delivery business
system to work: customer

The two books have a lot of differences between them. Henry did not want to go to war, on the other

them were from two diverse cities. When they both left the war Charlie was on the verge of

Aims and objectives
During the First and the Second World Wars Europehad to witness nationalist rivalries, which led
the continent to the catastrophe. For many, those wars meant the beginning of the end of the
European civilization. Others, a minority, drew from that the conclusion that the European
capability to overcome aggressive nationalism which caused those tragedies, is achievable by
adopting the idea of the united and peaceful continent as a common project.[6] That inspiration was
to be insured by a share of common, European distinctiveness. However, this process implies the
necessity to consider the impact of nationalism and the role of national states in a growing trend for
a united Europe. As Anthony D. Smith predicts:
The Europe of the future, if it should ever emerge, will be one of the mass identification and
loyalty to the European ideal, alongside or even in place of national allegiances and identities, such
that large numbers of the inhabitants of the European continent will not only consider themselves
to be first and foremost Europeans but will be prepared to make sacrifices for that ideal. [7]
We can assume that a common European identity should construct a parallel between the Union s
institutions and the citizens, making them feel that the economic and administrative regulations of
the Union are something that have to do with their rights and duties, with their identity. As the

Harriet Tubman Greatest Achievements
What Was Harriet Tubman s Greatest Achievement?
I prefer dangerous freedom over peaceful slavery. Thomas Jefferson once said. Harriet Tubman
was a strong and brave African American woman. She was born in Dorchester County,
Maryland. She grew up in Bucktown, Maryland. She grew up like a neglected weeds
(Background Essay). It showed that her childhood is not very lovely. At the age of 12, she was
doing field work and hauling logs. When her master died, in 1849, she makes her life changing
decision, I had reasoned this out of my mind; there was one of two things I had right to; liberty or
death; if I could not have one I would have the other (Background Essay). This showed that she is
going to fight for her and others freedom but if she does not get freedom then she would get death.
Although Harriet Tubman s achievements as a caregiver in Upstate New York and being a spy
leader of the Combahee River raid were important, but her achievement of being a conductor of
the Underground Railroad was the greatest. One of Harriet Tubman s noteworthy achievements
was her work as a caregiver in Upstate New York. She cared for the needy people, The aged, ...
the babe deserted, the epileptic, the blind, the paralyzed, ... all found shelter and welcome. (Doc

Compare And Contrast Dido And Aeneas
After viewing the two operas, it is clear that there are many differences and similarities between
the two performances. One of the biggest differences I noticed right away was the opera scenery
that each of the shows had. L Orfeo, written by Claudio Monteverdi had a much more theatrical
vibe with elaborate scenery, props, and costumes used by the performers. The backdrop changed
colors and had scenery images to help with representing the setting and time of day throughout
the performance. Many props were used by all roles of the cast. The costumes were more
elaborate and detailed compared to that of Dido and Aeneas, written by Henry Purcell. The
costumes for L Orfeo were geared to fitting into the Greek Mythology period since the opera...

In Dido and Aeneas, Dido, a widowed queen, expresses her love for Aeneas, a Trojan hero. He
reciprocates the feelings but is destined to sail away to become the founder of Rome. The opera
results in her committing suicide because of this. Both plots do encompass similar topics such as
love and death. Since both operas were written in the Baroque period they do share that similarity
and characteristics in the music style of that period. Italy was highly influential in the operas style
because it was the birthplace of opera. Baroque operas were generally based on Greek legends or
Roman history which fits in with the plots of the two operas.
There are similarities between the two performances orchestras also. Both orchestras contained
chordal instruments and bass instruments. An example for bass instruments that both shows had
was a cello, and for chordal instruments, both performances had violins along with other
instruments as well. The leads in the performances followed the typical voice type for their
characters. For example, the female leads were sopranos, which is the highest female voice
type. In L Orfeo the female lead was Eurydice, and in Dido and Aeneas, the female leads were Dido
and Belinda, all of which were soprano s. The male leads were tenors in both performances to
represent their role as the male star. In L Orfeo, Orfeo and Apollo were both tenors, and Aeneas

Essay on Censorship and Freedom of Speech
Censorship may be protection from inappropriate materials, but it also limits free speech. For the
limitation of free speech, it is reasonable why people are emphatically against censorship. It is
understood that there is a need to filter some of the materials released in today s society, but too
much is being done by people who have no right meddling with everyone s rights. Civilization has
always been plagued by a never ending battle being fought over what is deemed right and wrong. In
today s culture, censorshipoppresses everything in the media. From movies and music to television

Today, censorship is in place in more ways than you can imagine. As mentioned previously,
movies, music, television, and more are filtered one way or another. Some people go to such
lengths as illegal means of spreading materials deemed inappropriate for a certain viewing
audience. When the United States was established, the first amendment guaranteed the rights to
free speech and free press. However, it has never been interpreted to mean that all forms of
expression are legal (Zorea). The common misconception is that people believe that all forms of
expression are legal, but that has never been the case, and probably never will be. Intellectual
freedom is important because it allows people to express their ideas or beliefs however they feel
is appropriate (Intellectual Freedom Manual). With censorship, that freedom is stifled and
breaches the right everyone has for that intellectual freedom. Also affecting that freedom is the
influence that outside sources can have on your own thoughts and actions. People tend to rely
more on television and other electronic media to give them false ideas or impressions. Currently,
censorship in music is possibly the most relevant form of censorship. One of the more disturbing
signs of censorship in music is a condition nearly snuck into the USA PATRIOT Act that would
allow the government to hack private citizens computers to delete what they consider to be illegal
MP3 song files (Blecha 179).

Using A Microscope And View Living Cells
Using a microscope to view living cells
Introduction
Living cells are the most basic unit of life, however, they are impossible to see without the
magnification of a microscope. There are different types of microscopes with alterations to serve a
specific function, but the general use is the same. It is a tool invented with a curved lense that
magnifies things that cannot be seen with the naked eye. A microscopecan be used to see many
things, in this particular lab they were used to observe cells of different organisms. We began by
looking at a few sample slides of euglena, salmonella, and lilium and recording our observations.
Then we created the slides ourselves with living matter. The first set of cells that we looked at
were onion cells, which we looked at by gathering a sample of onion epidermis from one of the
onion s layers and creating a slide to be placed on the stage of the microscope. Next, we took a
look at human cheek cells by obtaining a sample and again creating a slide by swabbing the inside
of a mouth with a toothpick. Finally, we looked at pond water by creating a slide with a small
amount that was collected in a dropper.
Purpose
The purpose of this lab was to gain more knowledge on the use of lab equipment, focusing
principally on the microscope by observing a variety of cells underneath its magnifying lense at
different levels of objective power and recording those observations.

As stipulated in section 2 of article 9 of the European Convention on Human Rights, authorities can
intervene for the sake of protecting other human rights. The same is categorically stated in article
10, which allows for intervention by legal officers for the sake of protecting human rights.
These articles shows develop a paradox in that the demonstrators were acting within the constitution
, while still breaching other parts of the constitution. By holding demonstrations in the cathedral and
across the city s highway, they were exercising their constitutional right. However, by doing the
same, they were breaching the constitution because they did not have licences to occupy the land,
and they also breached the right of other citizens to exercise their freedom of worship.
The demonstrators also breached the right of city dwellers to use public utilities like the highway
and the cathedral, which was visited by many people from the country and beyond. The
demonstration and pitching of tents in public places therefore breached article 9, and 10 as they
made it hard for other individuals to occupy public places and a place of worship.

The Medieval Church And The Development Of Medieval...
Medieval Theatre was a source of education and reflection for the residents of the Middle Ages.
Serving as an inspiration for Renaissance plays, it took centuries of evolution for Medieval to
accommodate themes outside of the Bible. Theatre in the Middle Ages was an enemy of the
Catholic Church, who tried to terminate these performances. Unusually, the Catholic Church played
a significant role in the development of Medieval Theatre. Although plays were limited to the
themes of the Bible for a long period of time, bizarre masks, costumes and great structuring of
stages were used.
Following the collapse of the Roman Empire, a small group of performers travelled to various
destinations to entertain audiences about all aspects of life. They toured countries and many
regions to tell stories, play music and even perform acrobatic arts. Wherever they went, festivals
emerged. This caused commotion between Religious practitioners, who tried to convert the
performers and end their performances which were deemed sinful. The Catholic Church, which
was highly responsible for the growth of Medieval Theatre, offered a service. This service provided
the dramatization of Biblical stories which were held on church premises. It was not until the 13th
century that religious performances were beginning to be held outside of the church. Medieval
Theatre experienced a fundamental change in its 800 year rule, ending its reign in the 16th century.

U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus issued U.S. Civil Administration of the Ryukyus
Proclamation 27 (USCAR 27), which defined the boundaries of Nansei Shoto [the southwestern
islands] south of 29 degrees north latitude to include the Senkakus. On June 17, 1971 the Okinawa
Reversion Treaty was signed basically giving the Japanese residual sovereignty over the islands of
Ryukyu and Daito, which encompass the Senkakus. The Chinese of course claim that proceedings
were done as backroom deals and are illegal and invalid , but the US has tried multiple times to stay
out of this dispute but is continually dragged in because the of the two previously mentioned
treaties. Over the year numerous incidents have occurred because of Chinas growing discontent
over Japans administrative control over the islands. These incidents are seen as a violation of
International Naval Regulations, in the eyes of the U.S. but the Chinese believe that the
encroachment polices they are conducting are within their right to take back the land that they
rightfully claim. These incidents range from a two People Liberation Army Air Force fighter planes
flying near the islands, which caused the Japanese fighters to intercept them, to continuous

Popular Culture In The 80 s
The sixties and the nineties were very different from eachother. Popular culture has changed a lot
since then and society is also very different from today. The sixties and the nineties were about
creativity, free thinking, youth and expression. The people, fashions, music, and issues are what
defined pop culturein the 1960 s and its influence on pop culture in the 1990 s.
In the early sixties, one of the biggest influences in fashion was Jackie Kennedy. In the late sixties,
the mod look was very fashionable. The people who followed this trend wore mini skirts and
boots. On the other hand, peasant dresses, bell bottom jeans, tie dyed clothing, and long skirts were
worn by people of the hippie culture. In the nineties, supermodels and sports ... Show more content

There is not a single genre of music that can define either the 1960 s or the 1990 s. There was
folk music from Bob Dylan; R B influenced music from Motown and the Rolling Stones; rock
music from the Beach Boys; and psychedelic music from the Doors and Pink Floyd. Many new
types of music evolved in the nineties.
These genres that evolved the most, were rap music and hip hop. Underground alternative rock
also became very mainstream. In 1969, the Woodstock music festival symbolized peace and love.
Civil rights disruptions, racial tensions and very dissimilar opinions about the involvement in the
Vietnam war, all of these are what the 1960 s are known for. People were very fervent about their
beliefs and ideas, some people were willing to give up their lives.
People were becoming increasingly averse to the Vietnam war and did not hold back when it
came to expressing their opinions. The idea of the feminist movement and free love were
publicized by the extensive approval of the birth control pill. The people of the sixties were not
showing willingness to allow a government that misled and lied to them remain in power. As
opposed to the people of the nineties, who are not as vehement about the social issues that existed
in the sixties. In the nineties, most people are seemingly more passionate about power and wealth,

Body Image Concern In Adolescent Girls
Purpose: In the article Net Girls: The Internet, Facebook, and Body Image Concern in Adolescent
Girls Marika Tiggemann, Ph.D. and Amy Slater, Ph.D. (Clin Psych) questioned whether there is a
connection between internet use and adolescent body image concern. These researchers also
focused their study on one specific social networking site, Facebook.
Method:
Researchers in this study grouped together a sample of 1,087 girls aged 13 and 15 who were in
the first two years of high school, 8th and 9th grade. The sample of adolescent girls was selected
from 18 different schools across South Australia. In order to make this experiment as diverse as
possible, The Department of Education selected a wide range of adolescent girls that came from
different socioeconomic status. Additionally, they selected students from private and public
schooling (Tiggerman Slater, 2013).
Measures:
Internet Exposure: Adolescent girls were asked how long they spend on the internet each
disregarding hours spent for homework. The answers ranged from 0 6 hours. After measuring

because everywhere you turn the media/public is depicting their idea of an unrealistic perfect

we are. Every single person is unique due to an individual physical trait and we should not be

Question3: What is the role technology has played in the success of Galanz?
I think technology played a key factor in the success of Galanz.
At the very beginning, Galanz s most important components were all purchased from its rivals.
When Galanz became the leader in the microwave ovens market, its rivals refused to supply the
most important component magnetron to it. So it had to design its own magnetron. After its design
in the magnetron, it enhanced in R amp;D capability and production innovation. This allowed the
company ti reduce costs and provide differentiated features in its products. Meanwhile, the
company started providing more ODM service to large OEM clients as well as receiving more
orders for products with Galanz brand from small and mid size enterprises in developing countries.
Question4: What are Galanz s competitive and operations strategies, and how does its operations
strategy support its competitive strategy?
Galanz s competitive strategy was low cost, and its operation strategy was transfer of production
line through OEM agreement. First tactic used by Galanz was to escalate its production capacity
through a free production line transfer. Second tactic was to attract component suppliers setting up
component production facilities in Galanz. Then Galanz fully utilized its production facilities and
labor resources to the extreme by operating three shifts per day, seven days a week and 365 day a
year. This allowed the

Merger Is The Combination Of Two Companies
A merger or acquisition is the combination of two companies. In a merger, one of the companies
loses its identity completely and is absorbed by the surviving corporation. An acquisition occurs
when one corporation acquires all the shares of another. Both corporations may continue to operate
individually or may operate as a combination of both. What are the benefits of these transactions?
Why would a company choose to merge with or acquire another company?
Mergers and acquisitions, better known as M A, is a ...term used to refer to the consolidation of

Write An Essay On The Barbarians
According to legends, Rome was first founded by two brothers known as Romulus and Remus.
In order for Romulus to become the only ruler, he murdered his brother, Remus, and created a
monarchy in Rome. After several kings, the citizens of Rome overthrew the last king for being
cruel and a tyrant, and the rise of a republic began to occur (History.com Staff). A senate of
patricians and wealthy families was created and they ruled together for a couple of years. Romewas
divided into four classes of people. The lowest class were the slaves and were owned by other
people. They had no rights at all. The next class were the plebeians. They were free people, but
they had little say at all. The second highest class were the equestrians also known to be the
knights of Rome. Their name means the riders , as they were given a horse to ride if they were
called to fight for Rome. To be an equestrian you had to be rich. The highest class were the nobles

established themselves near the border of Rome. Being so close to Rome allowed the two culture

The dictionary definition explains, birth means ВЁThe emergence of a baby or other young from
the body of itЕ› mother.ВЁ The explanation is simple because if a person believes life begins at
birth the only reason would be, when a person is born they can now breath, eat, sleep, and develop,
and reasonable because a baby does breath, eat, sleep and develop after birth. Also wrong because
not only does the baby breath, eat, sleep, and develop after birth he/she also does before birth.
Development happens throughout a pregnancy. After fertilization, then implantation(conception),
the egg turns to an embryo, then a fetus, then a baby. Some of the development which happen
between the transformations are, body parts and systems form and start to function, the senses of
smell, taste, and sight start to work, the baby inhales and exhales amniotic fluid helping him/her
learn to breath, and he/she starts to sleep. Life does begin when development, breathing, sleeping,

This Blessed House Analysis
Performance in This Blessed House Jhumpa Lahiri s short story This Blessed House is one of
many stories in her Pulitzer Prize winning collection Interpreter of Maladies and follows a
newlywed Indian American couple, Sanjeev and Twinkle, settling into their first suburban home
together. As Twinkle begins to find and admire Christian objects scattered around the house
,
Sanjeev wants to throw them all away, underscoring that Sanjeev deeply cares about how they
will look if they display these Christian symbols as Hindus, while Twinkle simply wants to have
fun in presenting her discoveries. More deeply rooted in the situation is that Sanjeev wants to
look good in front of his coworkers; he does not get along with Twinkle; and the house he is
supposed to show off in an upcoming housewarming party only troubles him with the Christian
objects. Sanjeev s earlier phone calls with his mother put these three variables of work, spouse,
and home together as a formula, when she says that because he has enough money in the bank,
he needs a wife to look after and love, and that his money is supposed to go toward raising a
family (Lahiri 148). Sanjeev is taught to perform this role of success, and despite it not making
him truly happy, his continual pursuit of it emphasizes that he is attempting to perform a fixed role
that he does not fit into well. Sanjeev s actions and mentality in This Blessed House reflect upon
his performance and acting to fulfill a character of the American

Differentiation of Cyclic Tertiary AmineCathinone Derivatives by
Product Ion Electron Ionization Mass Spectrometry
Abstract
Rationale
A number of synthetic cathinones (aminoketones, ?bath salts?) are tertiary amines containing a
cyclic amino group, most commonly pyrrolidine. These totally synthetic compounds can be
prepared in a number of regioisomeric designer modification and many of these can yield isomeric
major EI MS fragment ions.
Methods
A series of regioisomeric cyclic tertiary amines were prepared and evaluated in EI MS and MS
/MS product ion experiments. The cyclic amines azetidine, pyrrolidine, piperidine and azepane
were incorporated into a series of aminoketones related to the cathinone derivative drug of abuse
known as MDPV. Deuterium labeling in both the cyclic amine and alkyl side chain allowed for the

Alessandro Giuseppe Antonio Volta
INTRODUCTION Alessandro Giuseppe Antonio Volta is known as the scientist that founded the
electric age. He was an Italian physicist pioneer that contributed greatly to the development of the
battery. Alessandro Volta was born in Como, Italy in 1745. He attended a public school; in 1774
he was appointed professor of physics at the Royal School in Como. His first invention was an
electrophorus; a device that produced static electricity. In 1776 77 he devoted his time to chemistry,
studying atmospheric electricity, and devising experiments such as the ignition of gases by an
electric spark in a closed vessel. In 1779 he became professor of physics at the University of Pavia,

Not long after the invention of the voltaic pile, electrical developments boomed. With the key that
was the voltaic pile, scientists were able to further explore the study of electricity. The Volta Prize
in French: le Prix Volta was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1801 1802 to honor Alessandro
Volta, an Italian physicist noted for developing the battery. At that time Alessandro Volta was
summoned to Paris to demonstrate his great discovery before the French Academy of Sciences. A
museum in Como, the Voltian Temple, has been built in honor of Volta and contains some of the
original instruments he used to conduct experiments. Near Lake Como stands the Villa Olmo,
which houses the Voltian Foundation, an organization which promotes scientific activities. The
Emperor of Austria honored him naming him a professor of Philosophy at Padova. Also an
electric unit Volt was named after Alessandro. And even now the French government awards the
Volta Prize for scientific achievement in electricity. Also a portage of Alessandro Volta, appeared
on Italian 10.000 lira banknote before the introduction of the euro came to Italy. There are many
places named in honor of Volta; he is known as one of the great scientists, who will always be

Evaluation Of Selected Patient And Theories Essay
Course Project Introduction: Selected Patient and Theories In the history of nursing many
theories have been developed and applied to nursing practice. After selecting a patient, I have
assessed her demographics, health status, and health needs. Also, I have selected two theories to
address these needs and have summarized their main concepts. Finally, I have discussed my
patient and theories choices. M.R. is a white fifty two years old Spanish female who lives in
Spain. She is five feet and four inches tall and weighs 121 pounds. She thinks of herself as a
member of Western and Spanish cultures. M.R. is a married Catholic, has two adult children,
owns a flat in a tranquil area, and works as a clerk at a public high school. In Spain health
services are paid for using taxes and M.R. lives near several medical facilities. Although M.R. has a
cardiomyopathy, she is otherwise healthy. She performs self care, activities of daily living,
employment tasks, and light exercise independently. In Spanish culture family members usually
live together or nearby and gather on Sundays. However, M.R. s husband is away on Sundays and
her daughter lives in other country. These facts constitute her cultural needs. Also, M.R. takes care
of the household finances and housework and has no time to socialize. This situation constitutes her
main psychosocial need because it has an impact on her support system. Finally, her spiritual needs
include the uncertainty of her condition s process,

Snapchat Streak
Snapchat was created in September of 2011, and has now grown into the favorite social network
of many. As with many new social media networks it took snapchat a couple years to become the
next hottest thing . The Snapchat Company is said to be worth somewhere in the $3 Billion
range and still climbing. In one update of the app around a year and a half ago the streak broke
through on the Snapchat stage (which replaced the best friends list). The basic idea behind the
streak is for you, your friends, family, and girl/boyfriend to send each other at least one snap (not

Though the streak is basically a game too see who can get the highest amount of days, people
take it very personally when someone fails to keep the streak due to it seeming as though the
person does not care enough about them. For instance, one of my close friends in high school
was broken up with by his girlfriend as a little fight of him losing their 100+ day streak exploded
into an all out armageddon between the two. It also may be noteworthy that many including me
would consider her to be psychotic, but then again none of us are licensed professionals able to
correctly diagnose. Another happening similar to this was late into my junior year of high
school. I had been dating a girl for close to 6 months and one day she decided to look on my
phone and found out that I had a three day streak with another girl that attended our school.
Though she knew this girl was one of my best friends that I treat like one of the guys, she still felt
the need to start an argument due to her insecurities. This instance spouted a fight that rivaled even
that of my friends, and eventually due to her vicious jealousy we eventually discarded our
relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend, but have gone back to being

Human Resources Specialist ( Social Security And Benefits
It has been a long journey. It s been four years since I enrolled in Human Recourses Management
at York University. Finally, graduation is around the corner. It is overwhelming to sit to write
about what the future holds after graduation. The position I have chosen is Human Resources
Specialist (social security and Benefits) at ICAO. I prefer to work at this organization because it
creates better opportunities if a career actor decides to leave the groups at any point. Just like
going to Harvard University speaks for itself, working at ICAO, makes a job seeker valuable to
an employer. Also, there are rooms for growth. The main reason why most people get a job is to
grow in all area, such as, improving knowledge, skills, and abilities, financially and gaining
power. That is, moving in a hierarchy. It is easier to for a career actor to work their way up in
this organization because, jobs are posted internally, which gives opportunities to current
employees. Thus, changing position leads to more power, and more power leads to more
responsibilities. Also, there is job security, based on a third party testimony; it has been said that
one s position at the ICAO, is very much secured and guaranteed and also hardly do employee gets
fired except they have done something outrageous such as stealing and licked information to a third
party. As well, if an employee is underperforming, they get demoted, or the organization provides

  • 2. The Mountains Of Central Appalachia Trent Brown Professor Lautenshlager English 2614 30 November 2014 The mountains of central Appalachia have always been known for, almost exclusively, the booming coal deposits that inhabit it, as well as the controversy that comes with the industry. The controversy that involves the wildlife, ecosystems, and residents of the area is one with fine lines, gray areas, and more than simply a good and evil side. The mountains of Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, and Tennessee are also home to some of the most extensive biodiversity in our country, as well as rich cultural heritage that extends to the earliest years of our nation. Everything that makes central Appalachia unique and identifiable is exactly what they might be in jeopardy of losing. Surface mining began to replace traditional underground mining around WWII (Bozzi 116). Rather than digging into the mountain to extract the coal, strip mining involves removing the overlying soil and rock that covers the coal deposits (Lutz 1). It seemed appealing at first because the previous known dangers of black lung disease and cave ins were now limited with the surface mining method (Bozzi 116). However, surface mining came with it s own problems, a lot of them being more serious and irreversible than underground mining (Allen 182). This method of surface mining was the spark that created the trend of mountaintop removal (Bozzi 117). Mountaintop removal is the complete destruction of the mountain peak in order to reach coal ... And the evil Spirit Ahriman, who lived in the Absolute Darkness. And between these realms was emptiness. One day, Ahura Mazda decided to make different creations. First he shaped the sky made of metal, shining and bright. Second, he made pure water. Third, he created the earth, flat and round with no mountains or valleys. Fourth he made the plants, moist with no thorns. Fifth, created animals, big and small. Belief in supreme and universal god Ahuramazada is the supreme, omniscient and omnipotent God who symbolizes truth, radiance, purity, order, justice, courage, strength and patience. Belief ... • 5. Spanish Edict Of Expulsion The history of the Jewish people in Spain is certainly a pivotal time period that changed the future of the Jews and specifically, the Sephardic Jews. At the time of the issuing and signing of the Edict of Expulsion on March 31, 1492, Spanish Jews were experiencing the most persecution that had been felt in the many centuries of which the Jewshad been in Spain. Spanish Jewry came to a dramatic end after almost a millennium of Jewish presence in the country. Spanish Jewry s golden age, however, the Jews experienced almost no persecution, resulting in a new centre of Talmudic study, before suffering from a relapse of anti Semitism that eventually led to the Inquisition and the Edict of Expulsion. For the Jews, it was almost impossible to maintain any sliver of wealth that they had in Spain, since Jews were forbidden to leave Spain with gold, silver or any other precious metals. As a result, only their must prized or important possessions could be taken to their new home, as they were physically restricted for what they could take. A delegation of influential Jewish people including the Chief Rabbi of Castile, Abraham Senior and Issac Abarbanel, a financial adviser to the state appeared before Ferdinand and Isabella as a last ditch effort to save Spanish Jewry and cancel the Edict of Expulsion. The delegation presented the catholic monarchs with a bag of gold to support their argument, however, Ferdinand and Isabella remained unchanged in respects to the Edict. The Jews began searching for their new homes, and most Jews, unwilling to embark on a long voyage to a different region of the world, sought to immigrate to Portugal, just west of Spain on the Iberian Peninsula. (SOURCE 8) A delegation of Jews approached the King of Portugal, John II, and presented him with a large sum of money for the permanent admission of affluent Jews into Portugal as well as a temporary home for poor Spanish Jews. (SOURCE 9) Shortly after, the Jews once again had to look for a new home after Manoel I, the new king of Portugal expelled the Jews from the country as a compliance with the daughter of Queen ... • 7. Elvis Presley Influence Rock and roll music was really started by this one quote: I don t sound like nobody (Marsh). This quote was said by Elvis when he first met Sun founder Sam Phillips, during a recording session that Elvis was making for his mother s birthday. Phillips liked Elvis voice and singing style so much that he thought Elvis was a black man! The public would also have this theory about him until they actually saw him. Of course, when Elvis Presley walked into Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee, even he could not predict that he was about to change the course of music history forever. Elvis Presley is the true definition of a rock star. He has basically had music all around him his entire life. From first hearing the depressing bluesfrom the Mississippi... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Presley was also a terrific dancer, and broke the rules in traditional showmanship, which often put him in the middle of controversy. Presley has already appeared six times on national television, but it is his appearance on The Milton Berle Show on June 5, 1956, that triggers the first controversy of his career. Presley sings his latest single, Hound Dog, with all the pelvis shaking intensity his fans scream for (Marsh). Elvis chose to dance in this manner to express himself, and did not see any issues surrounding it. He did what he felt like doing, and would inspire artists such as James Brown and Jim Morrison of The Doors to have a breathtaking stage presence. For this reason, several religious groups were outraged at Elvis chosen form of expression, and started protesting the young singer. Television critics across the country slam the performance for its appalling lack of musicality, for its vulgarity and animalism. The Catholic Church takes up the criticism in its weekly organ in a piece headlined Beware Elvis Presley. Concerns about juvenile delinquency and the changing moral values of the young find a new target in the popular singer (Marsh). Changing Medicare And Social Security Changing Medicare and Social Security to means tested benefits Policy Analysis Notably, the elderly populace is growing rapidly, and will reach 3.4 million or 12.8% of the population. Eventually, in the next thirty years older adults will comprise of 20% of the total population due to the aging of 76 million baby boomers (Olson, 2001). Seeing that, entitlementprograms and means tested benefits, are presented, in order to bolster this increment of older adults. When I trudge through the crunchy snow it makes a sound like it is October with the crisp fallen leaves underneath my feet. Up ahead I soon spot the cabin made out of walnut wood. It looks so magnificent sitting up on top of the hill with the sun beaming its glistening rays from behind on each side. As I enter through the wooden gate surrounding the house I recall all the memories of Christmases before that were made in this house. I remember the good smells and sounds from years past and hope that they come back this year. When I enter into the creaky hundred year old house I see mice sneaking nibbles from leftover cookies that were made last year. As I drop my luggage to the floor dust fills the room. I realize that I should probably clean the house before I start unpacking. After I clean and unpack I go back outside to collect some firewood. While I am out there I get blinded by the sun that is reflecting off of the snow and I almost fall into the flowing river. It isn t quite frozen over yet and the water splashes softly into the ice that is forming. As I walk back to the house with the wood that I have collected I see deer bound up to the river and start drinking. I stop, mesmerized by their beauty. The definition of assisted suicide is very factual: suicide facilitated by another person, especially a physician, who organized the logistics of the suicide, as by providing the necessary quantities of a poison (The definition of assisted suicide2016). After much research I have learned that assisted suicide is an option one has to make depending on their moral standards, will to live, and how they want to die rather than a factual process one can follow. Assisted suicide is currently legal in five states: Oregon, Vermont, Washington, California and Montana (Physician Assisted Suicide Fast Facts 2016). Each state differs in the process toward obtaining physician assisted suicide approval, but all follow the generic rule that one must have the mental capability to communicate their own decisions regarding their terminal illness(How to Access and Use Deathwith Dignity Laws 2016). I question how one can truly make such a decision for themselves if they are in pain from their terminal illness. In California they have the rule that one must submit two oral requests, each fifteen days apart, and a written request to the attending physician (Physician Assisted Suicide Fast Facts 2016). I feel this is a great way of avoiding patients who may be making this decision based off of impulsive drives and decisions. It first started as a small perfumery in Limoges, France, called Shop 8 and was revolutionary at that time due to its concept of assisted self service . The store had an open sell setting where customers could try the products before they bought them and where the organisation of the products was by type, not by brand as in every other store. In 1993, Mandonnaud bought 38 retail cosmetics stores from the UK s Boots PLC chain and merged them with the 12 Shop 8 stores that the company already had at that time. The stores were then rebranded to what is known today as Sephora. Although Sephora s initial strategy was to expand within France and its surroundings such as Monaco and Luxembourg, after the company was acquired by Louis Vuitton MoГ«t Hennessy (LVMH) in 1997, it started pursuing a global international strategy. With every store around the world, Sephora maintains similar products, overall atmosphere and services and every strategic decision is made by the higher management at the headquarters. Its first international store was opened in 1998 in New York City and the company began to expand in the European market, starting with Italy. A History Of The English Church And People When Bede was writing A History of the English Church and People the conflicts between Christians and pagans were still not long a ago and Christianity was not yet as dominant in England as it would be in the future. Bede wrote the history of past events of Christianitys struggles, the great men that protected it and enforced it. He wrote so that Christians would have an example on how to act in order to achieve greatness, how to avoid sin and how to strengthen Christianity and the Church itself in England. Bede thought that greatness is achieved only in one way and that was being a good, devout Christian. He used the history of King Oswald s life as an example of what it meant to be great and what are the rewards for achieving greatness. He wished everyone who read his history to follow in Oswald s footsteps as he continuously mention in his written work history records good things of good men, the thoughtful hearer is encouraged to imitate what is good . He gives many examples of Oswald s deeds as a devout Christian, but his number one achievement was bringing the faith to the lands of Bernicia. Why was it so easy for miners in Turkey and Greece to discover, one may ask? Silver is also one of the most abundant elements found on earth and was not difficult to come across when mining mountains and rocks. (Silver, 1) The exploration of silver mines in Laurium, Greece is significantly responsible for the rise of Athens in 600 BC. Additionally, in medieval times, German mines became the main source of silver in Europe, allowing the country to flourish and become what it is today. Silver proved to be an important part of the successes of many civilizations, including the ancient civilizations of Central and South America, who were rich deposits of silver in countries such as Peru, Bolivia and Mexico. Silver was originally known as seolfor : an Anglo Saxon name, and while this is how its name came to be, silver possesses the symbol Ag because of the fact that it is an abbreviation of the Latin word for silver, argentum. Previous studies suggest that male prisonsuicide is largely a product of the restrictive prison regime, isolation, and psychiatric illnesses among other factors. Factors that were continuously associated with suicide in prisons among early stage and long term male prisoners highlighted by the current study included psychological factors and substance abuse as the most significant inflictions. Adjustment to prison regime, entrapment and poor social and family support complete the list of major contributory factors to male prison suicides. The only differences between the groups were the frequency of effect of particular factors on decisions to take one s life. First, it is pertinent to explain how these drones work. In order to describe how drones work, you have to first distinguish them from their predecessors: remote control helicopters. According to Michael Perry, public relations manager at drone maker DJI, the key differentiator between the two airborne devices is that drones have some level of autonomy meaning they can fly, hover, or navigate without input from a pilot 2. The inputs for autonomous flight include: power modules that can be battery, solar, or gas, sensors, altimeters, a GPS chip, and radio waves. These inputs are inducing processes that include determining navigational routes, determining altitude, and communication with other drones and their controller. Aims and objectives During the First and the Second World Wars Europehad to witness nationalist rivalries, which led the continent to the catastrophe. For many, those wars meant the beginning of the end of the European civilization. Others, a minority, drew from that the conclusion that the European capability to overcome aggressive nationalism which caused those tragedies, is achievable by adopting the idea of the united and peaceful continent as a common project.[6] That inspiration was to be insured by a share of common, European distinctiveness. However, this process implies the necessity to consider the impact of nationalism and the role of national states in a growing trend for a united Europe. As Anthony D. Smith predicts: The Europe of the future, if it should ever emerge, will be one of the mass identification and loyalty to the European ideal, alongside or even in place of national allegiances and identities, such that large numbers of the inhabitants of the European continent will not only consider themselves to be first and foremost Europeans but will be prepared to make sacrifices for that ideal. It showed that her childhood is not very lovely. At the age of 12, she was doing field work and hauling logs. One of the biggest differences I noticed right away was the opera scenery that each of the shows had. L Orfeo, written by Claudio Monteverdi had a much more theatrical vibe with elaborate scenery, props, and costumes used by the performers. The backdrop changed colors and had scenery images to help with representing the setting and time of day throughout the performance. Many props were used by all roles of the cast. Since both operas were written in the Baroque period they do share that similarity and characteristics in the music style of that period. For the limitation of free speech, it is reasonable why people are emphatically against censorship. It is understood that there is a need to filter some of the materials released in today s society, but too much is being done by people who have no right meddling with everyone s rights. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Today, censorship is in place in more ways than you can imagine. As mentioned previously, movies, music, television, and more are filtered one way or another. Some people go to such lengths as illegal means of spreading materials deemed inappropriate for a certain viewing audience. When the United States was established, the first amendment guaranteed the rights to free speech and free press. However, it has never been interpreted to mean that all forms of expression are legal (Zorea). The common misconception is that people believe that all forms of expression are legal, but that has never been the case, and probably never will be. Intellectual freedom is important because it allows people to express their ideas or beliefs however they feel is appropriate (Intellectual Freedom Manual). With censorship, that freedom is stifled and breaches the right everyone has for that intellectual freedom. Also affecting that freedom is the influence that outside sources can have on your own thoughts and actions. People tend to rely more on television and other electronic media to give them false ideas or impressions. Currently, censorship in music is possibly the most relevant form of censorship. One of the more disturbing signs of censorship in music is a condition nearly snuck into the USA PATRIOT Act that would allow the government to hack private citizens computers to delete what they consider to be illegal MP3 song files (Blecha 179). ... Next, we took a look at human cheek cells by obtaining a sample and again creating a slide by swabbing the inside of a mouth with a toothpick. These articles shows develop a paradox in that the demonstrators were acting within the constitution , while still breaching other parts of the constitution. By holding demonstrations in the cathedral and across the city s highway, they were exercising their constitutional right. However, by doing the same, they were breaching the constitution because they did not have licences to occupy the land, and they also breached the right of other citizens to exercise their freedom of worship. • 37. The Medieval Church And The Development Of Medieval... Medieval Theatre was a source of education and reflection for the residents of the Middle Ages. Serving as an inspiration for Renaissance plays, it took centuries of evolution for Medieval to accommodate themes outside of the Bible. Theatre in the Middle Ages was an enemy of the Catholic Church, who tried to terminate these performances. Unusually, the Catholic Church played a significant role in the development of Medieval Theatre. Although plays were limited to the themes of the Bible for a long period of time, bizarre masks, costumes and great structuring of stages were used. Following the collapse of the Roman Empire, a small group of performers travelled to various destinations to entertain audiences about all aspects of life. They toured countries and many regions to tell stories, play music and even perform acrobatic arts. Wherever they went, festivals emerged. This caused commotion between Religious practitioners, who tried to convert the performers and end their performances which were deemed sinful. The Catholic Church, which was highly responsible for the growth of Medieval Theatre, offered a service. This service provided the dramatization of Biblical stories which were held on church premises. It was not until the 13th century that religious performances were beginning to be held outside of the church. The lowest class were the slaves and were owned by other people. They had no rights at all. The next class were the plebeians. They were free people, but they had little say at all. The second highest class were the equestrians also known to be the knights of Rome. Their name means the riders , as they were given a horse to ride if they were called to fight for Rome. To be an equestrian you had to be rich. The highest class were the nobles of Rome and they were called... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is not much accurate information of the Goths prior Rome but some historian assume they originated from Poland or Sweden. The Goths were the first Germanic tribe to become Christian as they migrated all around Europe, exposing them to different cultures and beliefs. They also battle many cities along the Mediterranean in hopes of conquering, and for many years they established themselves near the border of Rome. Being so close to Rome allowed the two culture to intervene with each other which also ignited many attempts to attack each other for land. It was not until 410 A.D in which Rome lost its battle against the Goths in a battle known as the Sack of Rome. After the attack the Goths took with them the wealth of the city and valuable hostages and kept moving along Italy and other parts of Europe in hopes to keep conquering ... Definition Essay On Abortion The dictionary definition of life is, ВЁThe condition that distinguishes animals and plants from inorganic matter, including the capacity of growth, reproduction, functional activity, and continual change preceding death.ВЁ Life is when something has ВЁgrowth.ВЁ When a woman conceives making her pregnant there is automatically growth. Because human life begins at the moment of conception, getting an abortionis murder. In Kentucky abortion is only legal until around 20 weeks of pregnancy. After 20 weeks abortion is only allowed if the mother is in danger. Guttmacher Institute states ВЁAn abortion may be performed at 20 or more weeks post fertilization only if the womanЕ› life is endangered or if her physical health is several compromised. The dictionary definition explains, birth means ВЁThe emergence of a baby or other young from the body of itЕ› mother.ВЁ The explanation is simple because if a person believes life begins at birth the only reason would be, when a person is born they can now breath, eat, sleep, and develop, and reasonable because a baby does breath, eat, sleep and develop after birth. Also wrong because not only does the baby breath, eat, sleep, and develop after birth he/she also does before birth. Development happens throughout a pregnancy. After fertilization, then implantation(conception), the egg turns to an embryo, then a fetus, then a baby. Some of the development which happen between the transformations are, body parts and systems form and start to function, the senses of smell, taste, and sight start to work, the baby inhales and exhales amniotic fluid helping him/her learn to breath, and he/she starts to sleep. Life does begin when development, breathing, sleeping, and eating begins, therefore life begins at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. This Blessed House Analysis Performance in This Blessed House Jhumpa Lahiri s short story This Blessed House is one of many stories in her Pulitzer Prize winning collection Interpreter of Maladies and follows a newlywed Indian American couple, Sanjeev and Twinkle, settling into their first suburban home together. As Twinkle begins to find and admire Christian objects scattered around the house , Sanjeev wants to throw them all away, underscoring that Sanjeev deeply cares about how they will look if they display these Christian symbols as Hindus, while Twinkle simply wants to have fun in presenting her discoveries. More deeply rooted in the situation is that Sanjeev wants to look good in front of his coworkers; he does not get along with Twinkle; and the house he is supposed to show off in an upcoming housewarming party only troubles him with the Christian objects. Sanjeev s earlier phone calls with his mother put these three variables of work, spouse, and home together as a formula, when she says that because he has enough money in the bank, he needs a wife to look after and love, and that his money is supposed to go toward raising a family (Lahiri 148). Sanjeev is taught to perform this role of success, and despite it not making him truly happy, his continual pursuit of it emphasizes that he is attempting to perform a fixed role that he does not fit into well. Sanjeev s actions and mentality in This Blessed House reflect upon his performance and acting to fulfill a character of the American ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These totally synthetic compounds can be prepared in a number of regioisomeric designer modification and many of these can yield isomeric major EI MS fragment ions. Methods A series of regioisomeric cyclic tertiary amines were prepared and evaluated in EI MS and MS /MS product ion experiments. The cyclic amines azetidine, pyrrolidine, piperidine and azepane were incorporated into a series of aminoketones related to the cathinone derivative drug of abuse known as MDPV. Deuterium labeling in both the cyclic amine and alkyl side chain allowed for the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At that time Alessandro Volta was summoned to Paris to demonstrate his great discovery before the French Academy of Sciences. A museum in Como, the Voltian Temple, has been built in honor of Volta and contains some of the original instruments he used to conduct experiments. Near Lake Como stands the Villa Olmo, which houses the Voltian Foundation, an organization which promotes scientific activities. The Emperor of Austria honored him naming him a professor of Philosophy at Padova. Also an electric unit Volt was named after Alessandro. And even now the French government awards the Volta Prize for scientific achievement in electricity. Also a portage of Alessandro Volta, appeared on Italian 10.000 lira banknote before the introduction of the euro came to Italy. Evaluation Of Selected Patient And Theories Essay Course Project Introduction: Selected Patient and Theories In the history of nursing many theories have been developed and applied to nursing practice. After selecting a patient, I have assessed her demographics, health status, and health needs. Also, I have selected two theories to address these needs and have summarized their main concepts. Finally, I have discussed my patient and theories choices. M.R. is a white fifty two years old Spanish female who lives in Spain. She is five feet and four inches tall and weighs 121 pounds. She thinks of herself as a member of Western and Spanish cultures. M.R. is a married Catholic, has two adult children, owns a flat in a tranquil area, and works as a clerk at a public high school. In Spain health services are paid for using taxes and M.R. lives near several medical facilities. Although M.R. has a cardiomyopathy, she is otherwise healthy. She performs self care, activities of daily living, employment tasks, and light exercise independently. In Spanish culture family members usually live together or nearby and gather on Sundays. However, M.R. s husband is away on Sundays and her daughter lives in other country. These facts constitute her cultural needs. Also, M.R. takes care of the household finances and housework and has no time to socialize. This situation constitutes her main psychosocial need because it has an impact on her support system. • 52. Snapchat Streak Snapchat was created in September of 2011, and has now grown into the favorite social network of many. As with many new social media networks it took snapchat a couple years to become the next hottest thing . The Snapchat Company is said to be worth somewhere in the $3 Billion range and still climbing. In one update of the app around a year and a half ago the streak broke through on the Snapchat stage (which replaced the best friends list). The basic idea behind the streak is for you, your friends, family, and girl/boyfriend to send each other at least one snap (not chat), which will in turn let you build up a numerical streak of days you have snapped each other. Streaks on Snapchat allow for the strengthening of many relationships,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though the streak is basically a game too see who can get the highest amount of days, people take it very personally when someone fails to keep the streak due to it seeming as though the person does not care enough about them. For instance, one of my close friends in high school was broken up with by his girlfriend as a little fight of him losing their 100+ day streak exploded into an all out armageddon between the two. It also may be noteworthy that many including me would consider her to be psychotic, but then again none of us are licensed professionals able to correctly diagnose. Another happening similar to this was late into my junior year of high school. I had been dating a girl for close to 6 months and one day she decided to look on my phone and found out that I had a three day streak with another girl that attended our school. Though she knew this girl was one of my best friends that I treat like one of the guys, she still felt the need to start an argument due to her insecurities. This instance spouted a fight that rivaled even that of my friends, and eventually due to her vicious jealousy we eventually discarded our relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend, but have gone back to being ... • 53. Human Resources Specialist ( Social Security And Benefits It has been a long journey. It s been four years since I enrolled in Human Recourses Management at York University. Finally, graduation is around the corner. It is overwhelming to sit to write about what the future holds after graduation. The position I have chosen is Human Resources Specialist (social security and Benefits) at ICAO. I prefer to work at this organization because it creates better opportunities if a career actor decides to leave the groups at any point. Just like going to Harvard University speaks for itself, working at ICAO, makes a job seeker valuable to an employer. Also, there are rooms for growth. The main reason why most people get a job is to grow in all area, such as, improving knowledge, skills, and abilities, financially and gaining power. That is, moving in a hierarchy. It is easier to for a career actor to work their way up in this organization because, jobs are posted internally, which gives opportunities to current employees. Thus, changing position leads to more power, and more power leads to more responsibilities. Also, there is job security, based on a third party testimony; it has been said that one s position at the ICAO, is very much secured and guaranteed and also hardly do employee gets fired except they have done something outrageous such as stealing and licked information to a third party. As well, if an employee is underperforming, they get demoted, or the organization provides help to improve the employee. Furthermore, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
