It references the highly publicized case of Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, who was removed from office for refusing to remove a Ten Commandments monument. The various essays in the book systematically criticize the courts and call Christians to political action to restore a purer constitutional system. The overall message is that the courts now act as "kings" rather than interpreting the law.

2. Outsider In To Kill A Mockingbird
Discuss the theme of an oustider in Silas Marner and To Kill a
Mockingbird.
What is an outsider? The dictionary defines that an outsider is a person excluded from a group.
The outsider plays an important part in both novels. In Silas Marner by George Eliot Silas is the
main outsider, however in To Kill a Mockingbirdby Harper Lee even though
Boo is the obvious outsider there are many others.
Silas Marner is written by George Eliot, which is the pen name of
Mary Ann Evans. She had to change her name to a man s name to avoid facing prejudice, as it
was not seen proper for a lady to write books, this also makes her an outsider. Due to this she could
be more sympathetic with outsiders, this could have influenced her to ... Show more content on

To Kill a Mockingbird is set in a town called Maycomb in Alabama. It is written in the 1950 s but
is set in 1933 1935. At the time it was set and at the time it was written there was a lot of prejudice
against black people in America, especially in the southern states.
The 1930 s were also the time of the depression, which meant that many people had gone
bankrupt. The Jim Crow laws were also still in motion, which created a segregation of white and
black people. In the 1950 s civil rights were important in the U.S.A as black people were fighting
for them. It was also the time when the majority of white males were members or sympathisers of
the Ku Klux Klan. This adds to the theme of an outsider in this book, because one of the outsiders
Tom Robinson is the victim of racial prejudice.
Both novels are set thirty years before they are written and both are a hundred years apart. This
shows that prejudice is constantly around.
In the town of Maycomb hierarchy makes outsiders of people. The Finchs are regarded as southern
aristocracy but later become outsiders because Atticus defends Tom Robinson. The Radleys are
outsiders because they are so conspicuous and secretive. The Cunninghams and the
Ewells have both been bankrupt due to the depression. However the
Cunninghams faced it bravely where as the Ewells became dishonest and depraved. They are the
white trash of the society, which makes them
outsiders.

3. The Pros And Cons Of Protective Tariffs
First, one of the restrictions to free trade is tariff. According to Menlo Atherton High School
(2015), a tax that is put on imported goods from abroad is known as tariff. Tariff is used to raise
the price of imported goods so that the domestic producers can sell their similar goods at higher
prices. Domestic government will be the one collecting the money that is received from tariff.
Protective tariffs and revenue tariffs are the types of tariff. Protective tariffs are put on imported
goods so that it will be more expensive. It is used to protect the domestic industries from the
competition of foreign firms. Revenue tariffs are used to raise money for government (Menlo
Atherton High School, 2015). The benefit of tariffs are uneven due to tariff is a tax. Besides that
government is benefited, domestic industries are benefit from it as well due to the reduction of
competition from foreign productions. It is because of the increased prices of the imported
products. However, it is unfortunate for the consumers because the higher price of goods is due to
higher import price. Tariff tends to bring advantages for government and producers but not to the...

According to Menlo Atherton High School (2015), a quota is a limit on the number of goods that
can be shipped in. A quota seems like a sensible alternative to a tariff when the intention is to restrict
foreign producersВ’ access to the domestic market. Importers typically are limited to a maximum
amount of products that they can sell in the home market over specific periods. A quota, similar to a
tariff, causes costs to increase in the home market. This induces domestic producers to increase
production and consumers to reduce consumption. One difference between a tariff and a quota is
that the tariff generates revenue for the government, while the quota generates a revenue gain to the
owner of import licenses. Consequently, foreign producers might capture some of this

4. Relationship Between Diffusion And Osmosis
In experiment 1, the transport of molecules was observed. By placing a dialysis membrane full of
glucose and starch into a beaker with iodine solution, both diffusion and osmosis can be observed.
When the membrane was placed into the beaker, obviously, the exchange of substances did not
happen instantly, oppositely, several minutes were waited so that passive transport would transfer
substances from one solution to another. In this experiment, the dialysis membrane was half filled
with glucoseand the other half was filled with starch solution. The membrane, which was
hypertonic, was dropped into a hypotonic iodine solution. Since the membrane is semipermeable,
only selective substances would be able to pass through the dialysis membrane: in... Show more

When ending experiment 1, the membrane was removed from the beaker with iodine solution, and
a small portion of what was inside the beaker was poured into a test tube. In this experiment, the
aim was to test for the presence of glucose and prove that glucose molecules also underwent
diffusion, moving from a hypertonic solution (inside the membrane) to a hypotonic solution
(outside the membrane). After pouring the liquid from the beaker into the test tube, drops of
benedict solution were dropped into the test tube. The benedict solution, when in contact with
glucose, turns from a bright blue to orange, however, for that to happen, the benedict solution
requires heat to kick start the reaction, thus, the test tube was placed into another beaker with hot
water, which was previously on a boiler. After waiting for some minutes, it was observed that the
blue solution inside the test tube turned orange, evidencing the presence of glucose in the solution.
This proves that, besides the movement, through diffusion, of the iodine solution towards the inside
of the membrane, glucose cells were also small enough to, through diffusion, move towards the
solution in the

The Elevator 2nd hr. Megan Hargis
Have you ever done something that makes you look back now and think why didn t I trust my

learn that it is always important to trust your instincts wherever you are or whatever you re
doing.Martin has always had a fear of elevators, but there is something different about this one. One
day he gets on the elevator and there is a lady on and at first sight he thought something was wrong.
And it just so happens that every time he is on the elevator it starts good with no lady but
eventually stops and who gets on...You guessed it the fat lady that is somehow at the same exact
time on with Martin.
Towards the beginning of the story Martin has thoughts racing left and right through his head. But
if she was only visiting somebody why would she be leaving at 7:30 in the morning? This shows
that Martin isn t only worrying about the elevator and the lady, but he was also worrying about
why the lady was on there everyday at the exact same time? Another thought racing unbalanced
through his head. What was she doing? Had she been waiting for him? was she riding with him on
purpose? This also proves that he has jumbled thoughts going in and out. ... Show more content on

7. Critical Analysis Of The Man He Killed
In this poem, The Man He Killed , the poet Thomas Hardy explores a complex theme, which is
war, using the simplest language. Throughout this essay I will be discussing the thoughts and
opinions Hardy has on war.
The Man He Killed was written in the nineteenth century during the Boer War that took place in
South Africa in 1898. This war was because the British Empire wanted to take control over the
land because of its rich gold and diamonds. The poem is written in a conversational tone, with
speech marks, making us feel that the soldier is talking directly to us reminiscing about killing a
foe whilst at war. The speaker in this poem is a man of low class who was unemployed and had
already sold all his possessions and consequently had no choice but to join the army; this can be
seen when the man states just as I was out of work had sold his traps . Hardy is showing us that
some people join the army just out of desperation not because they believe in the political side of
war. These unemployed, low classed people have no other way of earning the money to help them
survive so they turn to the only other option the have joining the army. The speaker is forced to kill
another man which he claims was his foe and later on realises that he and the man had a lot in
common.
During this poem the man is forced to kill another man and the repetition of because implies
hesitation and uncertainty about why he shot the man. He tries to reassure himself by saying just
so: my

8. Seligman s Theory Of Learned Helplessness
Learned helplessness refers to an organism learning to accept and endure an aversive stimulus that
it cannot escape even when it is avoidable. This theory shows that having some control over our
lives is preferable to no control at all. Based on the original theory of learned helplessness, one of
the key factors in Seligman s theory were uncontrollability and repeated cruelty or neglect. Based
on many experiments done by Seligman, controllability determines if one is suffering from learned
helplessness. This often leads to perceived lack of control and may lead to helpless behaviour
(Abramson, Seligman Teasdale, 1978). Also, repeated cruelty or neglect contributes to the key
factors in Seligman s theory. It involves aversive stimulus that... Show more content on

Once again, dogs in both groups were given electric shocks. However, the reaction was very
different as the dogs in Group two did not try to escape and whimpered instead.
Later, Seligman (1974) introduced the Learned Helplessness Theory of Depression. Seligman
saw the behaviour of these animals which might apply similarly to human depression. Animals
exposed to unavoidable shock showed passivity, in which Seligman felt in line with the typical
behaviour of depression. Other similar symptom were lack of appetite and weight loss (Rehm,
1990). However, one part of learned helplessness that did not occur in animals was the process of
demonstrating learned helplessness through vicarious learning (Bandura, 1986). There were other
differences in the human models of learned helplessness as compared to the animal models such
as shocks due to ethical concerns. Therefore, researches used variables such as loud noises as the
aversive event. Participants were given solvable or unsolvable tasks and were exposed to a loud
noise. Participants in unsolvable tasks failed in attempting to escape the loud noise. Other research
has also been able to induce learned helplessness in human participants with different types of

Electrons increase, which atoms contribute to the sea of electrons . The melting point rises due to
bigger molecules meaning the heat energy supply must also get bigger.
Moving across the period metals generally have a high melting point while most non metals have
low melting points.
The particles in a solid are held together by intermolecular forces and to convert a solid into liquid
you therefore must overcome the forces.
Going down group 1, when any of the metals are melted, the bond (metallic) has been weakened so
the atoms then can more freely, the decrease in melting point when going down the group shows a
decrease in strength.
Going down group 4, the bonds change from covalent to metallic, decreasing the strength of the
bonds as atoms increase and the bonds get bigger.
melting point decreases as molecules get bigger, therefore the probability of temporary dipoles
occurring increases and this is responsible for the attractions. Molecules with greater dipoles need
more energy to break these bonds causing the melting point to be higher.

Article Analysis
An introduction to the study that provides an overview of the issues studied and discussed: The
study of The Relationship of Sugar to Population Level Diabetes Prevalence: An Econometric
Analysis of Repeated Cross Sectional Data , revolves around the effects of sugar consumption on
diabetes. It is said that the rise in diabetes is mostly due to type 2 diabetes that lead to hypertension,
insulin resistance, and dyslipidemia. But it is unclear whether the prevalence of type 2 diabetes is
determined by the amount of sugar being consumed. While studies have shown that sugar plays an
independent role in obesity, obesity doesn t cause diabetes. Some countries have a large population

But an increase of sugar availability of 150 kcal/person/day resulted in a rise of 1.1% in diabetes
prevalence. From the cross national model of diabetes prevalence from 2000 to 2010, there has
been an overall increase of diabetes by 27% on average, with one fourth of the results accounted
by an increase of sugar availability. The Gross Domestic Product coefficient also played a role in
that a 1% increase in GDP resulted in a 1.07% increase in diabetes prevalence. This goes to show
that economic development is an important factor in the prevalence of diabetes. Findings further
showed that sugar significantly correlated with the prevalence of diabetes but the effects of sugar
was independent on the total calorie consumption and obesity. When the obesity factor was
unaccounted for, the effect of sugar was not drastically changed, which shows that obesity remains
independent on sugar s impact on

Back before the women even took to the sky, there is a dark room. Windows line the wall
opposite large double doors. A desk sits a few feet in from the windows with the chair positioned
so whoever sits there is facing the door. The floor is made of a short, smooth carpet and the walls
are white. There are very few decorative pieces and with the only light coming from the night sky
the room feels fairly boring and confining.
Just then, one of the handles on the double doors begins to move, breaking the cold silence inside

One of the touted benefits of autonomous vehicles is that it will reduce the need for parking in
urban areas, where parking is often a premium. By 2035, it is estimated that the need for parking
space should decline more than 5.7 billion square meters as a result of driverless cars. Experts
speculate that individual car ownership will become a thing of the past, and that individuals will
purchase a subscription service or buy into a cardominium where an autonomous vehicle, that no
longer needs to be parked on site, will arrive and take an individual to their desired destination.
For condominiums that are located in densely populated urban areas, parking spaces are often sold
between co owners at a premium. In most cases, onsite parking spaces are limited common
elements that are associated with an individual unit. The Michigan Condominium Act, specifically

20TH CENTURY War takes a toll on those who fight, or are affected by it, this is undeniable.
Over the course of the 20th Century, within the U.S. Military and Psychiatric Community the way
that this effect is identified and treated has changed many times based on the conflict and the
mindset of the American public. The purpose of this report is to discuss the history of the mental
effect of the trauma created by US involvement in wars within the 20th Century and the steps that
were taken in those eras to predict, prepare and treat for those effects. It is first important to
understand what traumatic stress is, and what traumatic stress can cause. A traumatic stressor is
defined as a catastrophic stressor that is outside the normal range of usual human experience
(Friedman, A Brief History of the PTSD Diagnosis 2013). Traumatic stressors are very common
and sometimes repetitive in warfare due to being involved in or witnessing killing, torture and
widespread devastation. In addition to this, the continued threat of death or injury to self or others
can be considered traumatic (Pols and Oak 2007). The repetition of these traumatic events and the
stress caused by these events can manifest itself in physiological and psychological disorders which,
over the course of the 20th century have changed names and

Any experienced captain will tell you that weather conditions play a huge roll in decision making
while navigating any vessel. Seaworthiness does not rely on the size of your boat. How your boat
handles weather conditions are taken into consideration during the design and construction process.
Using your boatfor what it is designed to do is key. Voyages into water ways and harsh weather that
your boat cannot handle can be disastrous. Different levels of experience determine your ability to
handle weather conditions. One boater may find certain heavy weather conditions to be manageable
while another may not. The type of waterway you re operating on has much to do with how

The zig zag approach will enable you to leave your boat in the trough long enough to turn. You
need to minimize the time in the trough and being broad side by the swell, so you do not broach.
Running with the swell behind you
When running in front of the sea,, the swell comes from behind you and this can be challenging.
The stern can be swept and pushed side to side. Keep the stern perpendicular to the oncoming seas
to navigate these conditions.
Being lifted by heavy seas is reason for concern. Boats tend fall quickly down the slope crest to
trough. When the stern is high your propeller could rise out of the water. If the rudder loses
contact with the flow of water, it will be left useless. Your boat could yaw to one side and broach
into the trough.
Sliding down the wave fast enough to bury the bow is another reason for concern. Pitchpoling can
exists when the stern is being pushed. To take the swells off one quarter and the other try tacking
before the seas. When running before the seas consider towing a drogue to slow your speed. This
will allow the helmsman an easier time control the stern in the proper position. The heaving to
maneuver
When conditions are become violent beyond your control, you and the boat are taking too much
force it s time to for the heaving to maneuver. Depending on the type of boat, this maneuver keeps
the bow in to the wind or a tad off the wind and waves.

Epidemiology:
HIV is known to be transmitted through blood products, semen and vaginal secretions, making the
transmission of HIV infection most commonly through sexual contact and IV drug use. HIV can
enter the body through contact with the bloodstream or by passing through delicate mucous
membranes, such as inside the vagina, rectum or urethra (The Centers for Disease Control and
Prevention: HIV/AIDS, 2015). The transmission routes for HIV make unprotected sexual
intercourse with an infected partner the number one reason for why HIV is on the rise. Often times
this transmission route is the most dangerous, because those that are affected with the HIV
infection do not know they have it unless they have been tested by their health care provider.
The modes of transmission of HIV are very similar to those of hepatitis B and hepatitis C, in
particular with respect to parenteral, vertical and sexual transmission. Even though certain sexual
practices are dodgier than others, with respect to anal intercourse and oral sex, it is difficult to
justify the risk of acquiring HIV through these practices themselves. As many people who are
infected with HIV engage in multiple practices of sexual intercourse with multiple partners, it is
difficult to pinpoint the direct route of transmission in which the person acquired HIV. It has been
estimated that the risk for acquiring HIV is from receptive anal intercourse is between 1:100 and
1:30 and insertive anal intercourse is 1:1000, while

America has the highest obesity rate in the world, but who knows where we could be if the

diseases have become common too in people, many that come from just unhealthy eating that has

eating and a healthier lifestyle, though, isn t completely hidden from the public, though more
ads about tasty junk food are on televisions, billboards, and so on, more than food that will

have a terrible diet, and the prices of foods that can make someone s diet healthier are too high for
most to even include them in their diet regularly. Healthier foods should cost less because it can
help lower the high obesity rate in America, it will promote a healthier lifestyle to people to do

Fig. 3. Edgar Dale s Cone of Learning Experience
Dale s Cone of Experience is a model that incorporates several theories related to instructional
design and learning processes, according to Anderson (2006), In the 1960s, Edgar Dale theorized
that learners retain more information by what they do as opposed to what is heard , read, or
observed . His research led to the development of the Cone of Experience. Today, this learning by
doing has become known as experiential learning or action learning .
. As reflected in Dale s research, the most effective methods involve direct, purposeful learning
experiences, such as hands on or field experience. Whereas, the least effective methods involve
learning from information presented through verbal symbols, like, listening to spoken words.
Direct purposeful experiences represent reality or the closest things to real, everyday life. The cone
charts the average retention rate for various methods of teaching. The further you progress down
the cone, the greater the learning and the more information is likely to be retained. It also suggests

Off site levies may also be imposed on an intermunicipal basis (Alberta Government, 2017).
The problem with this new change and the threat to residential development is ultimately the
increase in cost to developers and builders with the new off site levies. Increasing the cost to
developers and builders in Calgary could cause a lot of them to move to other places to develop
properties due to the higher costs of developing within the City of Calgary limits. Looking at
appendix A) and B) we can see that for a vacant lot with 1 single detached to be built in 2016, the
cost of the off site levy was $2,089.00. An increase of $2,227 in 2017 has been made by the new
amendment increasing the off site levy to a total of $4,316.00 which is over twice as much the
previous year. Going forward from the current date to the next year, 2018, we see that off site
levies increase again to $6,688.00. An increase of $2,369.00. In less than 2 years, off site levies
increase by $4,599 which in terms of a percentage is a 220% increase in a vacant lot with 1
single detached to be built in levy fees paid to the City of Calgary. With the alarming increase in

As Norman grew up, he never had the chance to explore his sexual desires with other people.
Norman s behavior can be further analyzed by using Freud s theory of Infantile Sexuality. In his

theory describes the ideas and emotions which exist within the unconscious mind of children
concerning their desire to possess their mothers sexually and eliminate the threat of their fathers
who they competed with for the attention of their mothers. Norman s problem is he is stuck in the
Phallic Stage. The Phallic Stage is the third stage of child development, occurring between the year

the money, the personal information would be lost in that stipulated time. Another example of
cyberstalking that I came across was Joe Good s cyberstalking case. His ex fiancee Tawny
hacked into his personal email and got him fired from his job. She stole personal information
from his Yahoo account and sent obscene mails to his superiors at work. She manipulated him
and got him arrested a number of times. She somehow gained access to his Yahoo account and
obtained personal information and used it against him. She used the law to support her cause
by showing that she was physically manhandled by Joe whereas actually she hurt herself
physically and falsely accused him. She also threatened a land lord of Joe s girlfriend and a
former colleague of Joe s. We must hence be careful while using passwords and sharing
passwords. Passwords must not be shared and we should protect them from prying eyes. We
cannot tell from where the hacker would target you and a small amount of negligence could land
you in trouble and we could be a victim of cyberstalking.

Drugs come in different form, e.g. pills, injection or powder. The participants who take drugs only

social movement has caught the attention of the media allowing the group to expel most of their

34. Stravinsky
IGOR STRAVINSKY (1882 1871)
The Firebird Suite (1910; version from 1919)
Introduction The Firebird and its Dance
Round of the Princesses (Khorovod)
Infernal Dance of King Kaschei
Berceuse
Finale
The first of Igor Stravinsky s three famous early ballets, The Firebird is the most traditional and
derivative. While The Firebird, similar to Petrushka and The Rite Of Spring, is unquestionably one
of Stravinsky s masterpieces, if considered strictly historically it can be, with some justice, viewed
as warmed over Rimsky Korsakov (the device of contrasting a folkloristic, diatonic style
representing human characters, with a highly chromatic style reserved for depicting the
supernatural had its most conspicuous use in Rimsky s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although it was The Firebird ballet, first performed in Paris in 1910, that began his international
career, and although the orchestral suite has remained his most popular work, he was still a little
embarrassed by it years afterwards. The original wastefully large instrumentation he revised in
1919, when he wrote a second suite, and again in 1945, when he put together a third and longer
orchestral suite. Such critical actions, he said, are stronger than words.
The scenario for Firebird, as adapted by Fokine, follows an old Russian folk tale. The Tsarevitch,
Prince Ivan, is hunting the elusive Firebird, and during the night he wanders into a magical
garden (Introduction). As he walks through the garden he sees the Firebird, a beautiful bird with
dazzling plumage (The Firebird and her Dance and Firebird Variation). Ivan captures the
Firebird, but agrees to let her go free, after taking one of her feathers as a trophy. At sunrise, Ivan
meets thirteen princesses, who have come into the garden to dance and play with golden apples
from the garden s orchard (Round Dance of the Princesses). Ivan learns that the garden belongs to
the evil magician king Kaschei, who has enchanted the princesses, and who has the ability to turn
his enemies into stone. The prince, now in love with one of the princesses, vows to enter Kaschei
s castle and free his beloved. As soon as he

35. Robert Van Gulik
Through a thrilling murder mystery blended with action, romance, and suspense, Robert van Gulik
captures the fascinating culture of Tang China and its political and social life. Van Gulik s novel
incorporates diverse characters with varying roles in Tang society, allowing for a more expansive
view of the social expectations and perspectives of people of all social classes. ALTHOUGH THE
WILLOW PATTERN IS A FICTIONAL NOVEL PUBLISHED IN THE 20TH CENTURY, IT
INCORPORATES MANY PRACTICES AND HISTORICAL FACTORS FOUND IN TANG
CHINA, INCLUDING A LEGAL SYSTEM, A BLEND OF BUDDHISM, TAOISM, AND
CONFUCIANISM, AS WELL AS SOCIAL EXPECTATIONS OF PEASANT AND ELITE

However, the popular beliefs of the Tang Dynasty that shaped the people s social expectations
and behavior as depicted in The Willow Pattern is arguably the most effective at making the
novel a viable representation of the time period. This factor is not only prevalent in the characters
actions, but it also has a prominent effect on the development of the novel s plot. Mrs. Mei, the
murderer of her husband Mr. Mei and the cause of the central conflict of the novel, reveals to have
committed this crime out of selfish desires during her trial under Judge Dee she explains that her
lust for power and an escape from the constraints of the patriarchal system, actions that go against
the ideal Confucian woman s expectation of obedience and reverence for her husband, was her
motive for her crime. Mrs. Mei, although sentenced by the court to death, dies of illness,
representing how her defiance from her social expectations results in her own downfall. On the
other hand, Bluewhite and Coral, although they also commit murder, are spared of punishment by
Judge Dee due to their endeavor of honoring their parents and protecting their family. The twins
exhibit the traits of ideal Confucian daughters, and in turn, are rewarded for upholding their social
duties.

36. Criticism Of Mahatma Gandhi
In the context of unbridled criticisms (actually misplaced ideological convictions) of Mahatma
Gandhi , his grandson Rajamohan Gandhi succinctly wrote that some people think that they are
wiser than (Martin Luther ) king and (Nelson) Mandela. This column is being written to add
theoretical perspective on the overall strategies involved and evolved by Gandhiji during the
freedom struggle . Further it is worth stating that Gandhi ji was an imperfect human being like
all of us as is also stated by Rajamohan, and I wish that no book or material should be censored
critical of him in lieu of respect of civil liberty for which Gandhi ji fought. Delving directly into
the stratagem of Gandhiji and his novel methods will always lead to a misconstrued discourse
because it will lack the actual political , social and economic canvas of the then India which was
shaped by the historical propositions since the dawn of the colonial. Being a semi democratic

this case, is the attractive rate of interest Metropolitan Life is willing to offer. However, their
offer comes with some conditions: An upfront free of 200,000 common shares is required. In
terms of operations, the capital budget would not be able to exceed the forecasted budget. No
acquisitions could be made without the approval of Metropolitan Life. No change could be made
to the current compensation packages of the firm s executives until 50% of the debt was repaid.

However, if Granite were to offer an IPO, they would have to undergo a thorough process of
examining all financial records, operations by the investment bank who was willing to
underwrite the offer as well as the securities commission, responsible of examining every IPO.
The process would take around three to six months. As well, the company would have to issue an
additional six million shares to cover the $50 million investment required. The advantage of a
IPO is the ability to acquire the necessary funds easily, which is something to consider if in the
future the company would like to expand or had a project that needed indispensable funds than the
company had available right away. It seems that the option of IPO is the better fit for the company.
This type of financing would allow not giving up too much control. It would also require them to
act in the best interest of their shareholders. These shareholders would want to see the stock price

People now know the causes of their diseases, the likelihood that their child could get a trait
based on the parents, and so people can get a better sense of who they are. One of the most
groundbreaking discoveries of medical history was the vaccination and eventual eradication of
smallpox, thanks to Edward Jenner. When he noticed that milkmaids exposed to cowpox were
immune to smallpox, he used the pus from a cowpox lesions and inoculated a young boy. The
boy soon was sick from cowpox but recovered quickly. When he was then inoculated with
smallpox matter, he never became ill. This proved that there was a way to save people from the
deadly disease of smallpox. This led to a better understanding of immunology. Other vaccines
such as polio, MMR, and influenza wouldn t have been created as quickly, if at all without
Jenner. It is suspected that his interest and curiosity for curing smallpox was when he was 13
years old as an apprentice to a surgeon; he heard a milkmaid say, I shall never have smallpox for
I have had cowpox. I shall never have an ugly pockmarked face. Although it was already suspected
there was a connection between the two, it wasn t determined until Edward Jenner created the
vaccination. Smallpox has been eradicated from the World since 1980 because of this. Did you

formation on the work of transnational writers Reyna Grande and Sandra Cisneros. I introduce the
framework of liminality to understand identity formation of transnational individuals. Transnational
and diasporic identities have been understood as the incorporation of multiple geographical sources
of identity, inclusive of locations on both sides of the border and having multiple homes (Szeghi

and/or identity conflicts that the incorporation of multiple geographic locations that

40. Measles Immunizations
Abstract
Measles is a highly communicable disease that has been eliminated from the United States since
2000. In 2015, the first death in 12 years associated with measles occurred. The recent trend of
refusing vaccines jeopardizes public health in the United States. A literature review was performed
to examine elements of this topic; to include modeling of risks for reemergence of this endemic,
examination of the vaccine manufacture process and the reasons why parents are choosing to
decline immunizations for their children. Strategies for intervention are proposed, such as
elimination of philosophical/belief based exemptions and fines, as well as addressing and tracking
rising diseases as bioterrorism is tracked. The Center for Disease ... Show more content on

It is important to have systems that are constructed similarly and able to communicate with each
other. Syndromic surveillance has been accepted as a way to monitor disease outbreaks and
bioterrorism attacks (Chen et al., 2010). According to Henning (2004), Syndromic surveillance
systems seek to use existing health data in real time to provide immediate analysis and feedback
to those charged with investigation and follow up of potential outbreaks. Additionally, The
fundamental objective of syndromic surveillance is to identify illness clusters early, before
diagnoses are confirmed and reported to public health agencies, and to mobilize a rapid response,
thereby reducing morbidity and mortality (Henning, 2004). Evaluation of the success of this type
of surveillance can be monitored based on the data reported to and archived by the

42. Hydrogen Power and Energy
Most of the energy we produce causes waste and pollution. Water allows us to cut some of this out
of the equation. In 1874, a French author named Jules Verne wrote that hydrogen has the potential
to be our next fuel source long before its potential was even discovered. And above all else, its
abundant! Not only is the earth covered in 70% of water, but 90% of all matter contains hydrogen
in it. Hydrogen itself produces miniscule amounts of pollution when burned. The problem that
stands is that hydrogen is only found as a compound, and not by itself. Water contains a good
amount of hydrogen, but also contains oxygen. However, we can extract the hydrogen atoms
through a process called electrolysis. Electrolysis separates the hydrogen atoms from the oxygen
atom to create HHO gas.
The problem with this however is that electrolysis requires electricity to decompose the compound.
The more current that is passed through the water the more chemical change it will undergo.
Electrolysis is carried out in an electrolytic cell which don t contain a membrane. These cells
contains two electrodes which separates the oxygen and the hydrogen.
Now when most people think of converting water into energy, they usually think of water powered
cars. Even though this is not entirely what electrolysis does, it isnt too far off. Fuel cell technology,
even though it is still being developed, works with electrolysis to make this possible. An obstacle
with making fuel cell technology possible is

Some introverts like to have one on one conversations with the leader and extroverts are usually
loud and are okay with asking questions or for help in front of others. For example, my sister is
an introvert and she is very quiet and shy. If she is in a group and they are asking the members of
the group their opinion, in order for her to talk you would have to call on
