When it comes to Descartes reply, in the Passions of the Soul he uses the word impulse when
describing the movements of the pineal gland and gives the impression that many of these impulses
would be very slight and thus unnoticeable due to the fact that they only occur if the opposite

Austin Lackey Shrubland Biome The Shrublands is a vast barren and dry land containing many

south western portion of the United States. Shrublands contain low nutrient soil and leaf litter is
critical for nutrients to spread but is often blown away. Shrublands are very exposed to the sun
which makes it hot and dry. The annual rainfall is 10 20 inches. It s hot and dry in the summer
and cool and moist in the winter. Temperatures in the summer can get up to 100 degrees
fahrenheit and down to 30 degrees fahrenheit in the winter. Some plants have adapted to the
shrubland environment by inheriting a waxy texture on the leafs to reflect the sunlight away.
The animals have adapted because they have become more active during dawn and dusk to
avoid the heat. The coyote (Canis Latis) is one of the top predators in the open shrubland biome.
California is mostly made up of the shrublands, they can survive in densely populated areas of
human settlements. Their diet consists of small mammals like frogs, snakes, rabbits and
vegetation which makes them omnivores. The Coyotes breeding season is in the spring. A
female coyote can have as many as twelve pups to a litter. The larger the litter correlates to the
population of wolves in the area. Large populations of coyotes will lead to small litters, whereas
