Observation Paper (Empire State Building)
The Empire State Building is a skyscraper located in Midtown Manhattan, New York City. Its
construction began on March 17, 1930, and was completed on April 11, 1931. John Jacob
Raskob, the creator of General Motors, wanted a building that would have been taller than Walter
Chrysler s building. He went to William Lamb, someone who was a partner at the architectural
firm of Shreve, Lamb, and Harmon and he explains to him his dream of a skyscraper that would
exceed the Chrysler Building. When the Empire State Building was being made, there were only
two criteria that were needed to be followed during the construction: the first one was that it must
resemble a pencil. The second criteria were that it must soar higher than any other structure in the
world. Although the building had many setbacks during the construction of it the building ended up
finishing 45 days ahead of schedule and on top of that the building ended up being $5 million
dollars under budget.
The Empire State Building was then viewed as a new symbol of what felt like a New America.
During the 1920s and the 1930s, the United States was being split from an old style of rural
traditions and eventually was beginning to make modern urban traditions. When the Empire State
Building was being built, it began to fuel the power and wealth of the clients who were children of

In the beginning, the stereotypes developed were seen as acceptable because they represented
Indians. As we move through time, they have become over exaggerated and unacceptable. The
stereotypes have been pushed to an unbelievable limit and they stopped coming off as funny to

First scenario: A patient suffers from heart disease. Their medical consultation history such as
appointments and follow up care is taken care of by the case management system and the progress

thus has a change in address, however this change, due to poor management, has only been

The Importance Of School Break
When I hear one say, specifically Roman Hebel, With school out of the picture, I can be stress
free and happy it evokes many questions and stress inside. How does one s stress disappear
simply due to school being put on the back burner? Yes, most homework responsibilities are not
of concern, but our school break is only nine days. With nine days, I don t believe that all
individuals including himself are duty and completely worry free. I don t know about most
people, but merely because school is put on hold does not relieve all the worries in the back of
my mind. Those issues will always be their haunting me and producing stress until they are
resolved, and trust me I do not want to deal with them over a well deserved break. However, this
is all just apart of life whether we attempt to enjoy the free timegiven to us or not. With that being
said, the short interruption with school does not create a stress free environment where I am
allowed to enjoy myself. Whether it s the last minute Christmasbaking, gift wrapping or a cramped
work schedule, I do not categorize that as a way to enjoy my break as Roman makes clear in his

Intelligence to be what it is today, but for America there is little doubt that CPT Nathan Hale
had an impact. CPT Nathan Hale was one of the first spies during the Revolutionary War. He

Hale traveled behind enemy lines on Long Island and began to collect information of British
troop movements for the several weeks. During this time the British invaded the island of
Manhattan. On September 15th 1976 the British established control of Manhattan. September

Various readers tend to misinterpret the concept of magical realism when developing the genre as a
whole. The literary or artistic genre magical realism is the adding of surreal elements within a story
in an attempt to create a realistic narrative without distracting the narrative flow. There are several
characteristics having to do with the intertwining of elements in which unexplainable events are
seen to be an everyday event, allowing the reader to get a better understanding of the author s
intention. In the following stories, A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings, The Handsomest
Drowned Man in the World, Bless Me, Ultimaand Lightis Like Water, there are several different
elements that characterize magical realism. Magical realism is evident within the stories, A
Very Old Man with Enormous Wings and Bless Me, Ultima, because they are set in an otherwise
ordinary world, with cultural realities and the events within the stories are not always explained
by universal laws or familiar logic. The cultural reality in A Very Old Man with Enormous
Wings reveals a lot about the people who follow the faith Catholicism. The people in the town
tried to make the old man eat some mothballs (paragraph 8) because it was supposedly the food
prescribes for angels. This show how the people of the Catholic religion did not think of the old
man as magical, they really believed he was an angel and expected him to act certain way since
he was an angel. In addition, A Very Old Man with Enormous Wings demonstrates how the events
within the stories are not always explained by universal laws or familiar logic when the
townspeople were introduced to the old man (the extraordinary). The old man is described as a
ragpicker, with only a few faded hairs on his head and having very few teeth in his mouth, but
despite these human characteristics the old man is treated inhumanly. The townspeople treated the
old man with no respect, he was penned up with the chickens and displayed, forced to eat mush and
branded. The fact the townspeople dehumanized the old man because of unfamiliar characteristics
portrays how human nature is not accepting to those who are different and will only accept those
who are like them.

Abstract
In order to decrease the number of cycles of infiltration and maintain a comparable cathode
performance, the viability of using a conductive LSF YSZ composite scaffold with one
infiltration cycle of LSCF was investigated. XRD patterns of LSF YSZ powder presented that at
1400oC and 1300oC calcination, an obvious shift in LSF peak occurred, indicating Zr doping
into LSF and forming a less conductive phase. Different ratios of LSF YSZ scaffolds were tested
by impedance spectroscopy with the results showing that the ohmic resistance decreases as the
amount of LSF increases, and 1350oC scaffold has a much lower ohmic resistance than the
1400oC one. A pure YSZ cell infiltrated with 35 wt% LSCF was used as reference and by
comparing it with a cell composed of 70:30 LSF YSZ scaffold calcined at 1350oC with one cycle
of LSCF infiltration, a comparable cell performance both in ohmic and non ohmic parts was
achieved.

A major part of an average Aztecman or woman entertaining area would be the game Tlachlli.
This game would be played, and the results would affect how the future could be. They would
play in a semi big stadium where a rubber ball would be hit with the Aztec players, as they would
try to get it through a hole up on a wall. Goals were extremely rare, but if you did score, you

I found many interesting facts during this study, and the most interesting fact, which I found was
one of the Aztecs ancient beliefs. The Aztecs said that where they would find an eagle on a cactus
with a snake in its mouth, which is where they would build their city. (Stuart, 69.) They found a
snake on a cactus with a eagle in its mouth and built their city on it. The city was named Tenochit.
This tremendous city was their home, and in the center they had Pyramids where they would make
their sacrifices for their gods. This city is now what makes the heart of the huge capital of Mexico,
Mexico City. And the emblem in which the Aztecs had pictured of an eagle on a cactus with a
snake in its mouth can now be found on the flag of Mexico.

In this essay, I will not only be discussing at the connections between Renaissance architecture and
cosmology as well as music, but also the what Renaissance architecture is and how it played a key
part in architectural design today. The Renaissance period took place during the early 15th century
to early 17th century, the age of Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Architects of the time took
inspiration from classical Roman architecture. This means it is an analysis of architecture in the
ancient world, especially ancient Greece and Rome. What the Renaissance learnt from the Romans

then dissolves to another group of inmates in the courtyard and then it dissolves into the
workroom, it moves across the faces of the inmates and then stops at Red. The camera stops at
Red because he is doing the voiceover and it allows the viewer to see his reaction to the music.
The editing techniques, cut and dissolve, allow the viewer to see the impact the music had on the
inmates and makes us feel admirable towards Andy because he is sacrificing himself in order to
allow the prisoners to witness the feeling of mentally escaping the prison
