Analysis of Amores Perros Essay
Analysis of Amores Perros The Urban Environment of Mexico City, As Presented in Amores Perros
Amores Perros represents the feature film directorial debut of Alejandro GonzГЎlez IГ±ГЎrritu and
was written by Guillermo Arriaga, the craftsman behind such acclained Hollywood successes as
21 Grams and Babel. It is perhaps no surprise then that this pairing, of inspired passion and
experienced creativity, resulted in a film that won 52 of the 69 total awards for which it was
nominated world wide, including the Ariel Award for Best Picture from the Mexican Academy of
Film and the Critics Week Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. But it is more than exceptional
filmmaking that is responsible for the critical success of this film.... Show more content on

Having no reason to hope for the fruitfulness of any long term goals or aspirations, Octavio s
immediate environment has shunt him off into a fixation upon what is immediately attainable
pursuing his brother s wife and chasing the money and increased social standing that comes with
fighting his dog. It comes as no surprise to the viewer, then, that these constraints placed upon
him by the particular urban environment in which he lives lead to his downfall. After
succeeding wildly through a number of dogfights, Octavio has earned enough money to
convince Susana that they can run away together, but he gets greedy and agrees to only last,
high stakes fight against a dog owned by the local gang leader, who has been Octavio s constant
nemesis and antagonist. Octavio descends to his lowest point, though, when at the same meeting
where he agrees to this final fight, he contracts with the ringleader of the dogfights to assault his
brother, who, as a result, is nearly beaten to death. This choice backfires on Octavio, as Susana is
now compelled to flee with her husband, taking with her all the money Octavio and Cofi had won.
This shows that working class life in Mexico City often produces in people aims which will only
exacerbate their situation. Learning of the betrayal, Octavio is outraged and is forced to scramble
together his remaining money to fund the bet of the final fight. At the fight, Cofi once again takes
the upper hand

Colonial Rule Of Independence And Independence
At independence, all states have the option to retain or abolish appeal to the JCPC. Assuming that
a colony s goal at independence is to free itself from the colonial power s control, why would a
state decide to retain a colonial institution that is an important to the POGG of an independent
state? I posit that states desire a final appellate court that is likely to uphold and legitimize the
policies of the nation s governing elite. The length and type of colonial rule influence the national
governing elite s decision about the final appellate court at independence. Some states that retain
the right of appealto an extraterritorial court at independence later abolish the right, while others
continue to allow appeals to this extraterritorial court. This mutability raises two additional
questions. First, why do we see variations in the length of time some states retained those ties
after independence? Second, why do some states ultimately decide to abolish appeals to the JCPC
and establish a domestic ultimate appeals court? I posit that states that retain appeals to the JCPC
at independence may later decide to abolish appeals if they perceive a divergence between the
state s policies and the JCPC that reduces the likelihood that the JCPC will uphold and legitimize
the state s policies. A disconnect between the decisions of the JCPC and the state s policies may
emerge over time, leading the governing national coalition to take steps to abolish that right of
appeal.

Analysis Of The Great Wave Off Kanagawa
The Great Wave off Kanagawa; the Wave that Swept the Western World
Almost instantaneously recognizable, The Great Wave off Kanagawa (woodblock, 10 1/8 x 14
15/16 in, c. 1830 32), created by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai in 1830, beautifully captures
the graceful, swelling movement of a crashing tsunami. Because of the way in which line and
proportion are utilized, this woodblock print gracefully portrays the sheer power of the ocean.
Derived from the Edo period in nineteenth century Japan, this classic was the first of a series of
works from Hokusai titled Thirty six views of Mount Fuji, all of which effortlessly depict the
mountain in a wide array of angles and scenery. Arguably, The Great Wave off Kanagawa is the
most iconic and cherished piece of Japanese artwork in the world. Even more importantly,
Hokusai is considered a prominent father figure for both Japanese art, as well as Western
modernization as a whole. The Great Wave truly displays how tiny and weak man is compared to
the force of nature. Not only is The Great Wave a quintessential piece of art, but it established a
piece in the comprehensive networks of art, trade, and politics, that has instilled a tremendous
positive impact in the Western world. Created solely from the vivid imagination of Hokusai, the
primary compositional focus of this simple, but deceptively dynamic print, is the massive deep
blue and white wave located in the left foreground of the work. Its detailed, curling white caps

Deception In Open Window
As I walk through the pen of colts I am very particular on the ones I choose to add to my string of
horses because of deception.Deception is a very strong word because there is a large amount of
deception that goes around in our lives. Deceptions is basically something or someone who is
deceiving or tricks you. Horses are a great example of deceptionbecause you pick the one you are
most interested in and the one you think that has the best disposition but ends up stomping your
brains in. Horses are an excellent example in deception. In the story Open Window the other uses
deception as the theme of her story.
First of all, The story begins as a guest Mr. Nuttall came to visit a family. The aunt was upstairs
doing something and she would have been down shortly but the 15 year old niece kept him
company. The window was open in front of the house and she explained to Mr. Nuttall why the
window was opened. She told him that they leave the window open every night on that day because
her uncle and cousins were out hunting and never came back. They think if they left the window
open they might come back one day. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She has been very interesting said Framton. You can tell the author had her niece tell a fib to use
deception as the main theme of the story. I hope you don t mind the open window, said Mrs.

always come in this way her explanation for the window being open was very different from her
nieces. He instantly was confused and couldn t figure out what was going on. The author uses the
niece to give the first clue to deception by explaining how her family was dead but then the aunt

How does Make A Wish help those in need? Make A Wish is one of the most well known
charities in the world for giving dying children one last wish and making it come true for them. I
remember in middle school one of my friend s brothers had cancer and so his parents reached out
to Make A Wishto try and give their son a happy memory that he could cherish for the rest of his
life. He wished he could ride in a monster truck so the people at Make A Wish had it arranged and
they reached out and asked them to come to the Delta Center which was home to the Utah Jazz but
could also house monster trucking. He went and got to ride in the most famous monster ... Show

These kids who knew they were going to die were given hope, hope that could hopefully allow
them to become healthier. It might seem stupid or gimmicky to older people but to these kids it s
all they got in life. Make A Wish grew so rapidly because of this, that they were making tens of
thousands of wishes come true each year.
Now that we have covered the full history of Make A Wish let s move on to general facts of
Make A Wish. To be eligible you must be referred by someone treating the child, a parent or legal
guardian, or the children themselves if they are of age. The average cost of granting a wish is
$10,130. Make A Wish pays for the full experience including costs of travel because they believe
that the parents have enough financial worries. The way Make A Wish makes money for all of
this is from mainly donations and foundation grants. This means that normal every day citizens
are funding these wishes and could be giving a dying kid their last wish which I think is special.
There have been numerous celebrities and stars that participate in Make A Wish. John cena holds
the record for Make A Wish at over 500 wishes. Justin Bieber has participated in over 200 wishes
and numerous celebrities have done multiple wishes. This is all voluntary so none of these
celebrities are forced to do it.

Inclusive Practice in the Primary School.
How inclusive is Frederick Bird Primary School as a learning community?
Inclusive education is an unabashed announcement, a public and political declaration and
celebration of difference. (Corbett, J. 2001:134)
The principles of inclusion and their implications on school practice have been fiercely debated by
leading educational experts for many years. In 1994, delegates from 92 governments met at the
world conference on special needs education, to consider policy changes that would enable
educators to provide inclusive education for all. The result of this conference was the adoption of
The Salamanca Statement and Framework for Action which provides recommendations and

This is an essential exercise for any school striving to be inclusive. Ainscow (2007:3) argues that
the biggest challenge facing the education system, is the development of practices that will reach
out to learners failed by existing arrangements. It is my belief that the most effective way of
tackling this matter is through this collaborative way of working. This enables practitioners to
challenge and redefine entrenched views of difference that can have a negative impact on certain
types of learners and find new ways of moving forward.
This ethos is reflected in every day teaching and learning. Every child within the school is treated
respectfully as an individual and lessons are strategically planned to accommodate all needs and
aspirations. The level of differentiation employed can be seen clearly in the case of Kyle .
Kyle is a popular and intelligent Year 6 student. He is an all round sports enthusiast who relishes
any opportunity to take part in team experiences and possesses excellent leadership skills.
However, Kyle is dyslexic and came to Year 6 disengaged with his learning and lacking in self
esteem and motivation. It was through open conversations with previous teachers and his parents
that we were able to establish the basis for Kyle s disconnection with the curriculum. Kyle viewed
himself as an incapable underachiever due to the ability level of the work he was expected to
produce. Through

Art History Analysis Paper
This paper is a formal analysis of the Marble grave stele with a family group relief sculpture. It is a
pentelic marble style relief standing at 171.1cm tall carved by a master. It is from the Late
Classical period of Greek, Attic which was completed around ca.360 B.C. . I chose to analyze this
piece as apposed to the others because I m mainly attracted to art and sculptures from the Greek
era. The overall color used in this reliefis ivory with a few cracks and pieces broken off. There is
some discoloration which causes the color to come off as slightly light brown for most of the relief.
The sculptureappears larger compared to the other sculptures in the art room. It represents a family

His attire is just a robe draped around his waist, over his lap and covering his legs all the way
down to his feet. You can see that the excess material of the robe around his waist was intended
for his whole body because of the multiple layers draped over his lap. There are no details of his
toes or feet because of the missing piece of the relief but you re able to see just the back of his
foot. His inch long hair and full facial beard look extremely wavy and curly. The fact that his
facial hair is present and thick on his face makes me assume that he is possibly in his forties
although many men back in that time didn t live that long. He is sitting with ease and his face
seems calm all the while staring blankly ahead. Looking at his face straight on, there seems to
be no emotion in his eyes. My eyes are then shifted towards the woman on the right side of the
relief. The woman seems to be his wife and is shown standing extremely close to him. Since the
chair is backless, I think her standing so close behind him depicts her unity with him. It seems
as though she is his support and is there to follow him. She is right up against his back with her
right hand up by her chest and his head. The wife and child s attire displays a robe draped over the
entire body leaving only her arms exposed although the wife has sleeves draping all the way down
behind her forearm. The robe drapes over the wife s head like a shawl or veil covering the back half

The Great Commission Research Paper
A THEOLOGICAL FOUNDATION FOR SMALL GROUPS
Commissioned to Teach
In the conclusion of the Gospel of Matthew, the remaining 11 disciples are summoned to meet with
their resurrected teacher in Galilee. It is here where Christ charges them to make disciples
(ОњО±ОёО·П„ОµПЌПѓО±П„Оµ), of all the nations in what is now known as The Great
Commission. This act of making disciples would require 3 things that are indicated by the
subordinate verbs, going, baptizing, and teaching. For the purposes of this paper, this will be an
investigation into what kind of teaching Christ was referring to, and what might that teaching look
like for the disciples.

For the early church this vision was the multiplication of believers who lived out what Christ
commanded. If a believer has no vision, there will be no self drive to be obedient, and if a self
drive is lacking, there can be no change. Perhaps the vision could be best defined by the Great
Commission itself. In this commission, the mission is laid out and made possible by the promised
presence of Christ.
Finally, all correction was done in grace and truth. The disciples saw Jesustime and time again
correct by meeting a need first, offering a correction, then leading the person to repentance. To
paradigm this model, take the story of the woman at the well recorded in John 4. Jesus met the

Media And Mass Shootings
In my essay, I argue that the media, in particular the news, has a bigger influence in mass
shootings then other stimuli like; access to guns, violent video games, and mental illness. By
exploring the news role in mass shootings we can begin to discuss the changes that can be made
in the way they broadcast. While the news believes they are just doing their duty and reporting the
news while also honoring the victims, there really just honoring the perpetrator. With the news
portraying the culprit as a hero, relieving what and how many weapons he used, and the amount of
people he or she killed they help encourage future perpetrators to beat the score . There are several

Political Parties In California
Weak Parties, Strong Partisanship California is known for being a very liberal blue state.
California is almost guaranteed to vote democratically in a presidential election and much of the
country considers themselves democratic. The areas that are more conservative in California are
also very adamant in their beliefs. The two major political parties in Californiaare extremely
polarized and have extremely high partisanship. The parties themselves however are extremely
weak. The idea that parties can have high levels of partisanship but be weak is extremely
confusing. It has much to do with the way California s politics have been established and the level
of direct democracyin the state. Naturally, political parties tend to be distinct... Show more content

Most local elections in California are nonpartisan. A nonpartisan election is an election in which
the parties of the candidates are not printed on the ballots. Although the candidates may identify
with one of the political parties, their preference is not shown on the ballot during the election.
This causes candidates to have to work harder for their votes and make their agendas known to
the public rather than relying on their political party to get them elected. In order for politicians
to move up in the political ladder, they must have contributed greatly to their local office and
have a decent resume to get them through. In a partisan election, candidates may be able to rely
on his or her partisanship to get them elected. For example in a largely democratic area, a
candidate may simply be elected just because his name is next to the word democrat on the ballot.
This in turn strengthens the parties role because that candidate would owe the party for his or her
election. Since California holds nonpartisan elections, candidates owe nothing to the party for their
success during an election. They are able to move up in politics based on the impact they had
made during their previous role. Although a large amount of the state offices has partisan elections,
by the time a candidate has made it to a state election they have made a name for themselves
without relying on the party to speak for them. Therefore, even

Nutritionism Defined By Michael Pollan Rhetorical Analysis
Presenting and writing about information that people do not understand or have interest in can be
particularly challenging. As a writer, your goal is to push the reader to grasp the material that you
are writing about while also making sure the reader is enjoying reading and learning about
whatever you are writingabout. However, achieving this balance in writing is not as easy as it
may seem. When writing about a topic that people may not be well versed in, it is natural to
include an abundance of facts in their work relating to and explaining the topic. In doing so, you
may unintentionally bore or confuse the reader if he/she does not have an interest in what they are
reading. Fortunately, there are strategies in which you can accomplish the aforementioned goal of
making sure that the reader is learning from and enjoying your writing. In Michael Pollans essay,
Nutritionism Defined , there are instances in which he does a great job of presenting information
that may not be very interesting to read about and there are also instances in which he could have
done a better job of capturing the interest of those reading his essay.
One strategy an author can use in order to help the reader understand and understand the sides in
the reading is the incorporation of ethos pathos and logos. However, in this essay, only two of the
three will be used as there are clear examples of both pathos and logos. These two methods can
help the reader comprehend what is being thrown

Watson and Crick s paper discussed the discovery of the double helix in DNA. It included the

Crime And Punishment During The Elizabethan Era
Crime and Punishment Draft The topic of crime has been booming in modern day news. Stories
of corrupt policemen and sexual misconduct allegations have flooded social media and everyday
conversation, but crime has always been a large aspect of society. However, modern day laws
have been overall consistent for a long period of time. During the Elizabethan era, many new crimes
and punishments were created by a growing development and knowledge. Accordingly, the
evolution of law grew dramatically during the Elizabethan age.
Laws originated from localism and were often controlled by ecclesiastical courts until the
medieval age ended. Laws were influenced heavily by the idea of localism, which commonly
revolved around the need for local goods, local government, and a local justice system. Often crime
was defined by ecclesiastical courts; crimes involving morality or violations of the church s
conception of sin were handled locally. However, after the introduction of Roman law, the power to
define crime became a duty of the ruler (Brackett, John 1999). The state had complete authority to
define crimes, even crimes of morality. The accusatorial method had been the popular choice until
the introduction of the inquisitorial method which was based on Roman law. However, it was said
This form of prosecution gave little power to judges. (Crime and Punishment 2004).
Crimes and punishments were often made to be equal for both commoners and aristocrats. Crimes

Everyday people use cars to get from one place to another, whether that s from their home to
work or from work to the airport or even city thousands of miles away. Cars especially in the
United States are hailed as efficient forms of transportation because of their ease of use and
relative affordability. However, in recent years with the rise in crude oil prices and the demand
for more efficient vehicles alternative fuel sources have gained more traction than in the past.
However, the many caveats of complex technology and increased price are major drawbacks
which must be considered when looking at electric cars. In the end electric cars are better for the
environment due to increased performance and reduced overall CO2 emissions. At the turn of the
nineteenth century electric cars made up nearly a third of the cars in the United States, while
today they don t even make up one percent as stated by Cadie Thompson. Electric cars were
hailed for their ease of operation, lack of smell, as well as their easiness to operate. Although there
were many upsides electric carproduction peaked in 1912. By this time Henry Ford s mass
production and assembly lines made internal combustion vehicles, both cheaper and more
popular making electric cars somewhat obsolete. One of the main limitations of electric cars is
the battery technology, which is used to power the electric cars. In the 1990s GM attempted to
create an electric car called the EV 1, it used primitive cheap lead acid batteries. A limitation of
this vehicle was the range it was between 55 and 95 miles which is nothing compared to an
average of around 300 for a combustion powered vehicle. With the rise of rechargeable batteries
in devices like laptops, phones, and even power tools battery technology has made leaps and
bounds. The batteries used in these devices are light, but powerful and are perfect for electric
cars. These lithium ion batteries aren t perfect however, they are extremely expensive, which
limits the market for electric vehicles. As Kevin Bullis said To cut costs, the lithium ion powered
electric cars made today by companies such as Nissan and GM use small battery packs with a
range if less than 100 miles. (Bullis). One thing that s extremely

Persuasive Freedom Of Speech
Content generated by the media is vastly changing with time. Alongside, how the audience wishes
to view content is changing as well. In the earlier times, only televisions and radios were used to
transfer information. Nowadays, new platforms and websites are using different techniques to
deliver content to their respective audience. On Netflix Nobody Speak, by Brian Knappenberger is
one of the many information and knowledge packed documentary, that redefines the way viewers
learn about the different meanings of certain phrases. One of the ways is freedom of speech, which
enables individuals to express ideas and thoughts candidly. Different audience group will
acknowledge different purposes to freedom of speech. Even though civilians hold the right to
freedom of speech, it can also come with deadly consequences. The expression in the documentary
holds a cruel and degrading meaning, even so, other reasons such as the rights of privacymight
outweigh the separate statement. The case between Terry Bolea and Gawker refines how different
audience ponders about the meaning freedom of speech. Expressing how freedom of speech and
technology was misused to degrade one of the most renowned celebrities named Hulk Hogan,
known initially as Terry Bolea.
Firstly, no kind of authority should obtain the power to interrogate or expose another person s
private life to the media. The quote, Freedom of information clashes with people s right to
privacy on a political government level, which is usually constrained, (Mass Communication in
Canada, p.38), states that freedom of speech is limited and should not break certain rules.
Considering celebrities are role models, that does not make them perfect human beings.
Gawker.com a self opinionated website, developed to publicize atrocious or embarrassing
footage about contrastive celebrities; uses freedom of speech as ammo to release footage that
could potentially ruin a person s standard and career. From the film, witnessing that Hulk Hogan s
private life was in jeopardy by the power of freedom of speech that Gawker.com perceives to hold.
Fundamentally, freedom of speech considering a characteristic of the public sphere, but it is limited
to certain morals and guideline.

Comparison Of Frederick Douglass And Martin Luther King Jr
Out of oppression rises resilient individuals whose voices cannot be silenced. Though the exact
circumstances may vary, both Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King Jr. were empowered
in the face of persecution. Both came from a place of suffering and restriction, were inspired by
the brutality the observed, and attacks institutions which allowed these atrocities and others to
continue. Their words, powerful and thought provoking, will serve as pieces that will not soon
be forgotten. Frederick Douglass and Martin Luther King Jr. both utilized certain writing
techniques to emphasize their story and increase the degree of impact to the reader. In both
pieces, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass and Letter from Birmingham Jail, emotionally
charged elements are included to create a response from the reader. Douglass ultilizes a deeply
personal and graphic style. Remembering the horrific story of his Aunt Hester, Douglass recounts,
and after rolling up his sleeves, he (slave master) commenced to lay on the heavy cow skin, and
soon the warm, red blood (amid heartrending shrieks from her, and horrid oaths from him) came
dripping to the floor. In contrast, King calls upon the emotion of the recipients through his
reference to the greater evil committed against society. Relating what he has seen to the larger
picture, King describes, But when you have seen vicious mobs lynch your mothers and fathers at
will and drown your sisters and brothers at whim; when you have seen

The Chinese Culture
1.0Introduction
The term culture has many meanings depending on the context in which it is placed. Culture
could mean the way that people have been used to a set system of activities until it becomes a
part of their inheritable knowledge, which they can pass to the next generations. Customs and
beliefs can also form the culture of people who live in a common geographical location or the era
in which they are living. In the corporate world, for example, in an organization, the term culture
can refer to as the team spirit of the employees of that organization. It can also be defined as the set
objectives that the staff of an organization is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many carvings in the Chinese museums, which were done centuries ago. The carvings
showed things like; how the Chinese are people who nurture creativity, and this has explained the
reason for their creativity even in this technological world. Another art invented by the Chinese was
the martial arts. The Chinese are well known for practicing Kung Fu, and it has become a well
known art in the entertainment industry. Kung Fu was invented by copying the attacking
techniques of animals, and the Chinese has used it as an act of self defense to the extent that there
are Kung Fu classes that are taught for a fee.
Up until today, the Chinese still embrace their culture, and little westernization has penetrated into
the Chinese culture.
4.0Religion
In China, there have been strict laws governing religion, and some of the religions have been
declared illegal. Some of the commonly practiced religions are Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam,
and Buddhism. Apart from the ones mentioned, there are also traditional religions such as
Confucianism. Despite the religious restrictions, the Chinese are believers in supernatural beings
and they conserve their traditional religion. At various times of the year, the Chinese go for
pilgrimages to honor their deities and their children are taught how to worship from when they are
in kindergarten.

something fearful happens in her life, she never lets it get in the way. Instead, fear makes her a
stronger person and forces her to get the job done. Lois Lowryhas been collecting her memories
and life events from the past and uses them to create her stories for The Giver.
Lois Lowry is a novelist who was born in Oahu, Hawaii on March 20, 1937. Lois Lowry grew up

Examples Of Greed In Huckleberry Finn
Michelle Callahan November 5, 2014 ENGL 2328 6001 8W2 Violence and greed are two
themes that run rampant through all of Huckleberry Finn, driving the story along. Just when
you begin to think things have calmed down, something else happens to bring the themes back
into the picture and shatter the false sense of peace achieved by the slow float down the river.
The characters are impelled to continue living dangerously, despite the many other options
available to them, to try and improve their station in life. The violence and greed both come in
early on, and it s no surprise that the two are wrapped up together in a profound way. Huck s
dad, Pap, comes back into the picture, and the readers quickly find out that Huck has been
abused many times in the past. Huck recalls how his father hasn t been seen in a year and Huck
was just fine with that as Pap used to always whale [Huck] when he was sober and could get his
hands on [Huck] and Huck would have to hide out in the woods to get away from his father
(Twain 113). This skill ends up serving Huck well later, when he has to hide from many other
men who are representations of his father. Pap comes out of hiding, only because he heard that
his son had come into a large sum of money and he wants it for his own. He tells Huck that he
hain t heard nothing but about [Huck] bein rich. [Pap] heard about it away down the river too. That

Hate Speech And Free Speech In The Public
Universities all over the country have had some similar conflicts. No one really knows what needs
to happen to get them to end. These protesters have been violent and nonviolent. Nonviolent
protesters could be protected by their freedom of speech, but so could the violent ones. Knowing
that violent protesting needs to be put to an end, police officials are not really sure how they
should go about it. The protests at Universities have made heads turn, while government officials
are contemplating on what they should do to help keep the students and speakers safe. Hate speech
and free speech have some differences. According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, hate speech
is defined as a, speech that is intended to insult, offend, or intimidate a person because of some trait
(Merriam Webster Dictionary). Freedom of speechis, the right to express information, ideas, and
opinions free of government restrictions (Merriam Webster Dictionary). These terms have parallel
but contrasting meanings. Everyone has their freedom of speech. Anyone can speak their opinions
without worries. Fighting words or hate speech is protected as long as there is no violence
according to Kathleen Ann Ruane, a Legislative Attorney. Different college universities are needing
to lay out some regulations to their protests so that they can have a safer environment. The
University of California Berkeley had some protests pertaining to Ben Shapiro, a speaker they had
early in September. There were no

Hybrid Body On Frame Sport Utility Vehicles
The second generation Armada has sailed into port.
Few manufacturers build full size, traditional body on frame sport utility vehicles these days. Count
Nissan among the few.
Among mainstream brands, the Nissan Armada, Toyota Sequoia, GMC Yukon, Chevrolet Tahoe,
and the Ford Expedition are your choices. Of the five, the Armada is the newest name, but for
several years it was the oldest moniker in terms of product age.
That s all changed now as the 2017 Nissan Armada is out, the second generation of this big eight

All New Endurance Engine
The all new Armada shares the same 5.6 liter, V8 gasoline engine found in the Titan and Titan XD.
Known as Endurance, the engine is the same size as the previous V8, but otherwise it, too, is new.
Nissan says the beefy V8 is outfitted with variable valve event lift (VVEL) technology for
improved response and performance. Further, Nissan enhanced throttle response by controlling the
intake valve and also employs direct injection gas technology.
Where the previous engine created 317 horsepower and 385 pound feet of torque, the latest engine
makes 390 horsepower and 401 pound feet of torque. Nissan rounds out the powertrain with a seven
speed automatic transmission.
Powerful, Expressive Exterior
Without getting lost in the details, Nissan combined elements from its other vehicles to develop
the new Armada s exterior. To begin, the grille offers a familiar look, one advanced by the
popular Pathfinder crossover. While the headlamp assembly is similar to the Titan s, it offers its
own look. The lower grille or air intake is unique, coming in wider and longer than the pickup truck
line.
The truck s frontal presentation is muscular, with a sculpted hood not unlike the Titan s. So, what
you have here is a combination of existing and new Nissan elements to establish the Armada s face.

biggest bass he had ever hooked, but then again, it would be great if Sheila Mant, the gorgeous
girl next door who was three years older than him, came to love him. There were two paths the
narrator could have taken, and he made his decision. What he didn t know was that Sheila would
end up leaving him anyway. He realizes that his love for Sheila was only temporary because the
spell she cast over [him] was gone before the month was over. The narrator still regrets his

Reconstruction And Reconstruction
The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, issued by Abraham Lincoln, launched the United
States into a groundbreaking point in history where blacks were no longer to be considered
property, but free individuals. Following the Civil War, The Reconstruction Era was led by
President Andrew Johnson and spanned the time between 1865 and 1877. This period was an
attempt to rejoin the Southern Confederates with the Union, as well as to haul blacks from a
status of subjugation to become active participants in the American society. On a broad scale,
Reconstruction helped blacks to gain freedom; they obtained citizenship and had a political role in
society. However, on a narrower level, this period failed in achieving its goal. Blacks continued to
be segregated socially and weren t treated as equals to their white counterparts.
During the Reconstruction era, a series of laws were passed to give blacks a position in political
American society. These laws were implemented into the Constitution as the Thirteenth, Fourteenth
and Fifteenth Amendments. The thirteenth amendment was added at the start of Reconstruction in
1865. It strengthened the emancipation proclamation, officially abolishing slavery. In 1868, the
fourteenth amendment made all people born in the U.S. American citizens and are therefore
equally protected under the law and entitled to vote if they are male and over twenty one years of
age. This included blacks. The fifteenth amendment reinforced the fourteenth by mandating

Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare Essay
Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare
Bacillus anthracis is a rod shaped, nonmotile, aerobic, gram positive bacterium that can be
transmitted from herbivoric animals to humans (Figure 1). Before an animal s death, its orifices
exude blood containing huge quantities of the bacterium. Anthrax forms extremely resilient spores
upon exposure to atmospheric conditions. Because of this spore producing ability, even after the
animal host dies the germs can sporulate again, persisting in the soil for up to several decades (1).
No cases of human to human transmission have been reported for this zoonosis. Historically,
human cases have been either industrial, as with woolsorter s, or agricultural (2).
Anthrax can be transmitted via 3 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Indeed, most recent outbreaks have occurred in southeastern Asia and Africa where anthrax is
endemic, often in isolated villages, and therefore have been difficult to investigate.
Pulmonary anthrax (woolsorter s disease) results from spore inhalation and like gastric anthrax, is
very rare, but inhalation remains the primary infection route for weaponized anthrax, due to its
nearly uniform fatality (Table 1). Pulmonary anthrax is approximately 90% fatal, and the US
Department of Defense estimates that the human LD50 is between 8,000 and 10,000 spores
(5). Some estimates, however, project that the minimum infectious dose could be as high as
80,000 spores (2). As shown in Table 2, early symptoms include malaise, myalgias, fatigue,
occasional retronasal pressure, nonproductive cough, and a low grade fever, and are followed by
an acute phase; the acute phase involves respiratory distress, shock, and death (Table 3; 3).
Because the early symptoms so closely resemble viral infections or the common cold, anthrax
diagnosis proves difficult. While acute phase symptoms are more readily diagnosable, the disease
s advanced progression often makes treatments ineffective at this point (5). Moreover, in the US,
there were only 11 reported cases of inhalational anthrax between 1945 and 1994, and so few
health physicians have clinical experience with the disease (6). In

Demand Curve and Supply Curve
Literature Review Demand and supply have been generalized to explain macroeconomic variables
in a market economy. The Aggregate Demand Aggregate Supply model is the most direct
application of supply and demand to macroeconomics. Compared to microeconomic uses of
demand and supply, different theoretical considerations apply to such macroeconomic counterparts
as aggregate demand and aggregate supply. The AD AS or Aggregate Demand Aggregate Supply
model is a macroeconomic model that explains price level and output through the relationship of
aggregate demand and aggregate supply. It is based on the theory of John Maynard Keynes
presented in his work The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money . It is one of the

The vertical axis is the price level. The horizontal axis is output or income. The short run
aggregate supply curve is downward sloping with slope equal to (1/a) while the long run
aggregate supply curve is vertical with no slope. The reason that the short term aggregate supply
curve is upward sloping is a bit more complex. Factors that determine the slope of AD AS curve
model The slope of AD curve reflects the extent to which the real balances change the
equilibrium level of spending, taking both assets and goods markets into consideration. An
increase in real balances will lead to a larger increase in equilibrium income and spending, the
smaller the interest responsiveness of money demand and the higher the interest responsiveness
of investment demand. An increase in real balances leads to a larger level of income and
spending, the larger the value of multiplier and the smaller the income response of money
demand. This implies that the AD curve is flatter, smaller is the interest responsiveness of the
demand for money and larger is the interest responsiveness of investment demand. Also, the AD

Essay on Spiral of Silence
Public communication is very important when in a discussion with coworkers and such. The one
weakness that some people run into is silence. The spiral of silence theory by Elisabeth Noelle
Neumann explains why certain people fall under the pressure and seclude to silence. Silence may
not always be a bad thing, but according to a study by Lucy J. MacGregor, the fact is that silence
during a speechor conversation is absolutely bad. With this, silence while talking to a large group
negatively affects the listeners in a way in which some words in the speech will not be

In every high school, there are the jocks, the band, the nerds, the people on drugs, the religious
and so on and so forth. Some of these groups were known as the popular group and some were
known as the creeps. These names that are given to the groups still happen in everyday life when
you are older and this also affects whether or not the person will speak up about a certain topic.
When certain groups have to keep secrets from other groups for safety reasons, this does not help
the silence situation at all. The fact that groups are keeping secrets from others means that they do
not trust anyone else which forces groups into silence and they cannot voice their opinion anymore.
The Spiral of Silence has a key voice in the workplace, which involves the use of presentations. One
thing affected by the listener not wanting to support the speaker is the fact of whether or not the
listener is actually paying attention (Denham Vaughan 7). It has been said that listeners are more
than likely to lose their attention when there is a break in the speech by the speaker. When this

The Prowess Of The Rock Of Hollywood
Story: The Prowess of the Rock of Hollywood I am the Rock of Hollywood, and I m known to be
the strongest of the movie stars. My fame reaches all over the planet and so do my biceps. I
dwell wherever the show takes me, but my home is currently in Florida where the waves reach
the shore and the palm trees meet the sun, the beaches are close by and the amusement parks are
epic. You can see the sunset on one side and the sun rise on the other. I arrived in this world of
celebrity in an unusual way. Prior to riding the waves of the waves of the movies, I dominated in
the rings of the wrestling world as I fought against the wildest beasts. I defeated them in many
ways, from throwing them to the ground as if they were the tiniest of woodland... Show more

As a prominent defender on the gridiron in the sun, defending the ball of brown took the
Hurricanes to the top of the world. We reached the pinnacle of the crossroads from our chariots
of spikes as we approached the Huskers of Corn in the Bowl of Oranges. We hefted the trophy as
the Huskers returned to their homes in the fields. This was a proud moment as my men worked
together better than they ever had before. Despite the history of my time in the winning world
of the gridiron, my fame was found in the ring. My names were many, from Rocky Maivia to
Flex Kavana, always wanting to show my affection for my Samoan ancestry of the Ocean in the
west. This life came to me as I never was able to move from the Greens of Miami to those of the
professional leagues. My greatest foe arrived at the end of my time in the ring. The foulest of
mouths John of the Cenas tempted me with his anger. If he could have attacked me with the
strength of a Cyclops, he still could not have defeated me. As hard as he tried, his words were
bigger than his bite. This monster of a man was working to take my strength, my fans, and my
style but he was like a little goat while I was a ram. Over 12 months, we bantered back and forth
throwing insults like they were little pieces of candy pelting each other with tough mints and
spicy gumdrops. But, when the time arrived for us to come face to face, it was as if I was facing a
Goliath of a man. He had grown, possibly through the use of magic moly

Optometry Application Essay
My decision to pursue a degree in optometry started from an unlikely source within the field of
healthcare. I originally aspired to become a pharmacist and had extensive experience as a
pharmacy technician throughout high school and the start of college. As I progressed I became
more unsure of the profession, and did not feel as though as if I was making a difference. Patient
interaction was minimal and I felt that having a more personable connection would make for a
better healthcare professional. I always knew I wanted to become a healthcare professional, I just
was not sure pharmacy was the path for me.
What drew me to the field of optometry specifically is the fact that our eyes can be considered one
of our most precious gifts. Growing up my siblings always needed some sort of corrective lenses,
leaving me in the dark so to speak. When I was younger I suffered a corneal ... Show more content

I have also come to realize that this particular practice focuses more on disease and disease
prevention juxtaposed to only offering refractions and other optical solutions. This type of practice
is what interests me most in the field of optometry. Having extensive experience in the health field,
namely the field of pharmacy, I was unsatisfied with the level of patient interaction and patient care
a pharmacist can convey toward his/her patients. I understand the field of pharmacy is more
complex than that of a local practice and that I may have been in a particular situation, but I
wanted to have more of a connection with those in need. Being able to see patients at the clinic
progress through treatment is what drew me even closer to the field after I started observing. I
know the field of optometry can give me the opportunity to have a direct effect on patients and their
ocular health. Which is why I have never wanted anything more for myself then to have the chance

Sistine Chapel Essay
Michelangelo undertook the painting of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel during the High
Renaissance. The height of the rebirth of Classical thought in Europe. The atmosphere of the time
period and even its name, translating to rebirth , can be seen in the program of the frescoes
decorating the ceiling of the chapel. The central panels are scenes from the book of Genesis. They
deal with God s creation of earth and man, the fall of man and the story of Noah. In fictive
spandrels, Michelangeloplaced nude youths among prophets and sybils, ancient Greek seers. In the
Catholic tradition, sybils are thought to have foretold the coming of Christ. The scenes of from
Genesis were chosen because they represented the birth of humanity. During the Renaissance...

In the Catholic religion, Jesus is seen as the antidote to the fall of man, like how the Renaissance
was seen as the antidote to the Gothic period. The story represented the religious motivations of the
patron, Pope Julius II. As a religious leader, it would make sense that Julius II would be interested
in including tenets of the Catholic church in the frescoes of the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Other
elements of the ceiling, mainly the fictive architecture, the inclusion of pagan elements and
Michaelangelo s attention to the human figure represent the humanist interests of Pope Julius II.
Humanism is based on the principles of Classical Roman and Greek philosophy. In the
Renaissance, Humanist values are often portrayed in motifs and design elements that relate to the
Classical world. For example, the inclusion of the sybils in the frescoes from the ceiling of the
Sistine Chapel. Syblis are female Greek seers. They are pagan, their inclusion on the ceiling of the
Sistine Chapel and the mythology that Catholics created around them, that they foretold the coming
of Christ, was a way to bring together Classical religion with

Compare And Contrast Hovanness Toumanian Genocide And...
For centuries throughout their cultural history, the Armenian people have been maltreated;
however in this essay, I ll focus solely on the period from 1850 1915, which is just before the
occurrence of the Armenian genocide. The historic Armenian homelands were controlled by two
empires called the Ottoman Empire and the Russian Empire. The Ottoman Empirewhich controlled
Western Armenia, was home of the Turkish people, whereas the Russian Empire which controlled
Eastern Armenia was ruled by the Russians. As a result, the Western portion of Armenia was
divided into six vilayets called Van, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Kharpert, Sivas, and Erzurum, while the
remnants of Eastern Armenia was divided into Kars and Yerevan. In account of the factors that led
to this disheartening division of the Armenians fatherland, expatriatism emerged and can be
personified through Armenian works of art such as that of Vahan Tekeyan and Hovanness
Toumanian s writings. In this essay, I will compare Eastern Armenia versus Western Armenia

hordes of the scorching desert come and struck hard, repeatedly, at our noble caravan, in the
Armenian Mountains, those blood stained mountains. Yet our caravan confused, terrified,
plundered, massacred, and torn asunder, ever bears its innumerable wounds, in the Armenian
Mountains, those mourning mountains (Kudian 3). In this quote, Toumanian applies the phrase
black hordes to symbolize the Soviet Union and Russian Empire who came to battle the Armenians
and conquer the remaining Eastern division of their native land. The author educates the audience
by using symbolism to portray how the Armenians were caught off guard, left for dead, and as a
result their people were being forced to comply with the newly enforced Russian

The Ethics Of The Texas Government
After examining the power one lobbyist can have in the Texas government, it is appropriate to
look at the enormity of what a corporation who specializes in lobbying efforts is capable of. The
company being examined is called Cassidy and Associates. Cassidy came into the forefront of Texas
politics, when in 2006 Carol Strayhorn, the comptroller announced the state of Texaswould be
suspending payments to a Washington lobbyingfirm hired by Rick Perry, called Cassidy and
Associates (Zeller 2006). The reason this is a seemingly bold move by the comptroller is because
of how powerful this company is. In 1999, Cassidy and Associates billed their clients 19.8 million
dollars, making them the biggest grossing lobbying firm in the nation ... Show more content on

Another example of this is in New York City, where a hospital for special surgery, paid Cassidy
140,000 dollars and obtained a 1 million dollar grant from HRSA (Zeller 2006). This is what
lobbyist companies are able to do they receive a sum from their customer and then in return try
and give them a lot of government money. This affected Texas because not every time someone
gives a lobbying group money are they guaranteed to receive anything in return. One of Cassidy
s clients were the president at the University of Dallas, and what probably took place is that they
did not get the federal funding at one of the universities in the state and now the accountant or
comptroller begins to wonder why public universities are giving a lobbying group in
Washington so much money and getting nothing back, so she pulls the plug on allowing them to
receive any more money. Cassidy certainly has not shied away from looking shady with their
business. In the nineties they hired as CEO a man named Marty Pusso and he was vice chairman
of the house ways and means health subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over numerous
healthcare issues and programs (Zeller 2006). Being the Vice Chairman as well as CEO of a
lobbying company that in 1999 received 1.3 million dollars from 10 hospitals (Zeller 2006) seems
to create a conflict of interest problem or in Pusso s case a solution. Furthermore, this questions as

Analysis of Amores Perros Essay Analysis of Amores Perros The Urban Environment of Mexico City, As Presented in Amores Perros Amores Perros represents the feature film directorial debut of Alejandro GonzГЎlez IГ±ГЎrritu and was written by Guillermo Arriaga, the craftsman behind such acclained Hollywood successes as 21 Grams and Babel. It is perhaps no surprise then that this pairing, of inspired passion and experienced creativity, resulted in a film that won 52 of the 69 total awards for which it was nominated world wide, including the Ariel Award for Best Picture from the Mexican Academy of Film and the Critics Week Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. But it is more than exceptional filmmaking that is responsible for the critical success of this film.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Having no reason to hope for the fruitfulness of any long term goals or aspirations, Octavio s immediate environment has shunt him off into a fixation upon what is immediately attainable pursuing his brother s wife and chasing the money and increased social standing that comes with fighting his dog. It comes as no surprise to the viewer, then, that these constraints placed upon him by the particular urban environment in which he lives lead to his downfall. After succeeding wildly through a number of dogfights, Octavio has earned enough money to convince Susana that they can run away together, but he gets greedy and agrees to only last, high stakes fight against a dog owned by the local gang leader, who has been Octavio s constant nemesis and antagonist. Octavio descends to his lowest point, though, when at the same meeting where he agrees to this final fight, he contracts with the ringleader of the dogfights to assault his brother, who, as a result, is nearly beaten to death. This choice backfires on Octavio, as Susana is now compelled to flee with her husband, taking with her all the money Octavio and Cofi had won. This shows that working class life in Mexico City often produces in people aims which will only exacerbate their situation. Learning of the betrayal, Octavio is outraged and is forced to scramble together his remaining money to fund the bet of the final fight. At the fight, Cofi once again takes the upper hand ... • 3. Colonial Rule Of Independence And Independence At independence, all states have the option to retain or abolish appeal to the JCPC. Assuming that a colony s goal at independence is to free itself from the colonial power s control, why would a state decide to retain a colonial institution that is an important to the POGG of an independent state? I posit that states desire a final appellate court that is likely to uphold and legitimize the policies of the nation s governing elite. The length and type of colonial rule influence the national governing elite s decision about the final appellate court at independence. Some states that retain the right of appealto an extraterritorial court at independence later abolish the right, while others continue to allow appeals to this extraterritorial court. This mutability raises two additional questions. First, why do we see variations in the length of time some states retained those ties after independence? Second, why do some states ultimately decide to abolish appeals to the JCPC and establish a domestic ultimate appeals court? I posit that states that retain appeals to the JCPC at independence may later decide to abolish appeals if they perceive a divergence between the state s policies and the JCPC that reduces the likelihood that the JCPC will uphold and legitimize the state s policies. A disconnect between the decisions of the JCPC and the state s policies may emerge over time, leading the governing national coalition to take steps to abolish that right of appeal. Since ... Analysis Of The Great Wave Off Kanagawa The Great Wave off Kanagawa; the Wave that Swept the Western World Almost instantaneously recognizable, The Great Wave off Kanagawa (woodblock, 10 1/8 x 14 15/16 in, c. 1830 32), created by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai in 1830, beautifully captures the graceful, swelling movement of a crashing tsunami. Because of the way in which line and proportion are utilized, this woodblock print gracefully portrays the sheer power of the ocean. Derived from the Edo period in nineteenth century Japan, this classic was the first of a series of works from Hokusai titled Thirty six views of Mount Fuji, all of which effortlessly depict the mountain in a wide array of angles and scenery. Arguably, The Great Wave off Kanagawa is the most iconic and cherished piece of Japanese artwork in the world. Even more importantly, Hokusai is considered a prominent father figure for both Japanese art, as well as Western modernization as a whole. The Great Wave truly displays how tiny and weak man is compared to the force of nature. Not only is The Great Wave a quintessential piece of art, but it established a piece in the comprehensive networks of art, trade, and politics, that has instilled a tremendous positive impact in the Western world. Created solely from the vivid imagination of Hokusai, the primary compositional focus of this simple, but deceptively dynamic print, is the massive deep blue and white wave located in the left foreground of the work. Its detailed, curling white caps make it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Inclusive education is an unabashed announcement, a public and political declaration and celebration of difference. (Corbett, J. 2001:134) The principles of inclusion and their implications on school practice have been fiercely debated by leading educational experts for many years. In 1994, delegates from 92 governments met at the world conference on special needs education, to consider policy changes that would enable educators to provide inclusive education for all. This enables practitioners to challenge and redefine entrenched views of difference that can have a negative impact on certain types of learners and find new ways of moving forward. This ethos is reflected in every day teaching and learning. A nonpartisan election is an election in which the parties of the candidates are not printed on the ballots. Although the candidates may identify with one of the political parties, their preference is not shown on the ballot during the election. This causes candidates to have to work harder for their votes and make their agendas known to the public rather than relying on their political party to get them elected. In order for politicians to move up in the political ladder, they must have contributed greatly to their local office and have a decent resume to get them through. In a partisan election, candidates may be able to rely on his or her partisanship to get them elected. For example in a largely democratic area, a candidate may simply be elected just because his name is next to the word democrat on the ballot. This in turn strengthens the parties role because that candidate would owe the party for his or her election. Since California holds nonpartisan elections, candidates owe nothing to the party for their success during an election. They are able to move up in politics based on the impact they had made during their previous role. As a writer, your goal is to push the reader to grasp the material that you are writing about while also making sure the reader is enjoying reading and learning about whatever you are writingabout. However, achieving this balance in writing is not as easy as it may seem. When writing about a topic that people may not be well versed in, it is natural to include an abundance of facts in their work relating to and explaining the topic. In doing so, you may unintentionally bore or confuse the reader if he/she does not have an interest in what they are reading. Fortunately, there are strategies in which you can accomplish the aforementioned goal of making sure that the reader is learning from and enjoying your writing. In Michael Pollans essay, Nutritionism Defined , there are instances in which he does a great job of presenting information that may not be very interesting to read about and there are also instances in which he could have done a better job of capturing the interest of those reading his essay. One strategy an author can use in order to help the reader understand and understand the sides in the reading is the incorporation of ethos pathos and logos. • 19. Crime And Punishment During The Elizabethan Era Crime and Punishment Draft The topic of crime has been booming in modern day news. Stories of corrupt policemen and sexual misconduct allegations have flooded social media and everyday conversation, but crime has always been a large aspect of society. However, modern day laws have been overall consistent for a long period of time. During the Elizabethan era, many new crimes and punishments were created by a growing development and knowledge. Accordingly, the evolution of law grew dramatically during the Elizabethan age. Laws originated from localism and were often controlled by ecclesiastical courts until the medieval age ended. Laws were influenced heavily by the idea of localism, which commonly revolved around the need for local goods, local government, and a local justice system. Often crime was defined by ecclesiastical courts; crimes involving morality or violations of the church s conception of sin were handled locally. However, after the introduction of Roman law, the power to define crime became a duty of the ruler (Brackett, John 1999). The state had complete authority to define crimes, even crimes of morality. The accusatorial method had been the popular choice until the introduction of the inquisitorial method which was based on Roman law. • 20. Disadvantages Of Electric Cars Everyday people use cars to get from one place to another, whether that s from their home to work or from work to the airport or even city thousands of miles away. Cars especially in the United States are hailed as efficient forms of transportation because of their ease of use and relative affordability. However, in recent years with the rise in crude oil prices and the demand for more efficient vehicles alternative fuel sources have gained more traction than in the past. However, the many caveats of complex technology and increased price are major drawbacks which must be considered when looking at electric cars. In the end electric cars are better for the environment due to increased performance and reduced overall CO2 emissions. At the turn of the nineteenth century electric cars made up nearly a third of the cars in the United States, while today they don t even make up one percent as stated by Cadie Thompson. Electric cars were hailed for their ease of operation, lack of smell, as well as their easiness to operate. Although there were many upsides electric carproduction peaked in 1912. By this time Henry Ford s mass production and assembly lines made internal combustion vehicles, both cheaper and more popular making electric cars somewhat obsolete. One of the main limitations of electric cars is the battery technology, which is used to power the electric cars. In the 1990s GM attempted to create an electric car called the EV 1, it used primitive cheap lead acid batteries. A limitation of this vehicle was the range it was between 55 and 95 miles which is nothing compared to an average of around 300 for a combustion powered vehicle. With the rise of rechargeable batteries in devices like laptops, phones, and even power tools battery technology has made leaps and bounds. The batteries used in these devices are light, but powerful and are perfect for electric cars. These lithium ion batteries aren t perfect however, they are extremely expensive, which limits the market for electric vehicles. As Kevin Bullis said To cut costs, the lithium ion powered electric cars made today by companies such as Nissan and GM use small battery packs with a range if less than 100 miles. (Bullis). One of the ways is freedom of speech, which enables individuals to express ideas and thoughts candidly. Different audience group will acknowledge different purposes to freedom of speech. Even though civilians hold the right to freedom of speech, it can also come with deadly consequences. The expression in the documentary holds a cruel and degrading meaning, even so, other reasons such as the rights of privacymight outweigh the separate statement. The case between Terry Bolea and Gawker refines how different audience ponders about the meaning freedom of speech. Expressing how freedom of speech and technology was misused to degrade one of the most renowned celebrities named Hulk Hogan, known initially as Terry Bolea. Firstly, no kind of authority should obtain the power to interrogate or expose another person s private life to the media. The quote, Freedom of information clashes with people s right to privacy on a political government level, which is usually constrained, (Mass Communication in Canada, p.38), states that freedom of speech is limited and should not break certain rules. Considering celebrities are role models, that does not make them perfect human beings. Gawker.com a self opinionated website, developed to publicize atrocious or embarrassing footage about contrastive celebrities; uses freedom of speech as ammo to release footage that could potentially ruin a person s standard and career. The characters are impelled to continue living dangerously, despite the many other options available to them, to try and improve their station in life. Reconstruction And Reconstruction The Emancipation Proclamation of 1863, issued by Abraham Lincoln, launched the United States into a groundbreaking point in history where blacks were no longer to be considered property, but free individuals. Following the Civil War, The Reconstruction Era was led by President Andrew Johnson and spanned the time between 1865 and 1877. This period was an attempt to rejoin the Southern Confederates with the Union, as well as to haul blacks from a status of subjugation to become active participants in the American society. On a broad scale, Reconstruction helped blacks to gain freedom; they obtained citizenship and had a political role in society. However, on a narrower level, this period failed in achieving its goal. Blacks continued to be segregated socially and weren t treated as equals to their white counterparts. During the Reconstruction era, a series of laws were passed to give blacks a position in political American society. These laws were implemented into the Constitution as the Thirteenth, Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments. The thirteenth amendment was added at the start of Reconstruction in 1865. It strengthened the emancipation proclamation, officially abolishing slavery. Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare Essay Bacillus Anthracis and Biological Warfare Bacillus anthracis is a rod shaped, nonmotile, aerobic, gram positive bacterium that can be transmitted from herbivoric animals to humans (Figure 1). Because of this spore producing ability, even after the animal host dies the germs can sporulate again, persisting in the soil for up to several decades (1). Pulmonary anthrax (woolsorter s disease) results from spore inhalation and like gastric anthrax, is very rare, but inhalation remains the primary infection route for weaponized anthrax, due to its nearly uniform fatality (Table 1). Pulmonary anthrax is approximately 90% fatal, and the US Department of Defense estimates that the human LD50 is between 8,000 and 10,000 spores (5). Some estimates, however, project that the minimum infectious dose could be as high as 80,000 spores (2). As shown in Table 2, early symptoms include malaise, myalgias, fatigue, occasional retronasal pressure, nonproductive cough, and a low grade fever, and are followed by an acute phase; the acute phase involves respiratory distress, shock, and death (Table 3; 3). Because the early symptoms so closely resemble viral infections or the common cold, anthrax diagnosis proves difficult. While acute phase symptoms are more readily diagnosable, the disease s advanced progression often makes treatments ineffective at this point (5). Moreover, in the US, there were only 11 reported cases of inhalational anthrax between 1945 and 1994, and so few health physicians have clinical experience with the disease (6). In ... When this happens, the listener is more than likely going to jumble up sentences together and guess the wrong word to finish the current statement that the speaker broke the pause with. The Ottoman Empirewhich controlled Western Armenia, was home of the Turkish people, whereas the Russian Empire which controlled Eastern Armenia was ruled by the Russians. As a result, the Western portion of Armenia was divided into six vilayets called Van, Bitlis, Diyarbakir, Kharpert, Sivas, and Erzurum, while the remnants of Eastern Armenia was divided into Kars and Yerevan. In account of the factors that led to this disheartening division of the Armenians fatherland, expatriatism emerged and can be personified through Armenian works of art such as that of Vahan Tekeyan and Hovanness Toumanian s writings. In this essay, I will compare Eastern Armenia versus Western Armenia through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Hovanness Toumanian s In the Armenian Mountains he writes, But frequently have the black hordes of the scorching desert come and struck hard, repeatedly, at our noble caravan, in the Armenian Mountains, those blood stained mountains. Yet our caravan confused, terrified, plundered, massacred, and torn asunder, ever bears its innumerable wounds, in the Armenian Mountains, those mourning mountains (Kudian 3). In this quote, Toumanian applies the phrase black hordes to symbolize the Soviet Union and Russian Empire who came to battle the Armenians and conquer the remaining Eastern division of their native land. The author educates the audience by using symbolism to portray how the Armenians were caught off guard, left for dead, and as a result their people were being forced to comply with the newly enforced Russian ... • 46. The Ethics Of The Texas Government After examining the power one lobbyist can have in the Texas government, it is appropriate to look at the enormity of what a corporation who specializes in lobbying efforts is capable of. The company being examined is called Cassidy and Associates. Cassidy came into the forefront of Texas politics, when in 2006 Carol Strayhorn, the comptroller announced the state of Texaswould be suspending payments to a Washington lobbyingfirm hired by Rick Perry, called Cassidy and Associates (Zeller 2006). The reason this is a seemingly bold move by the comptroller is because of how powerful this company is. In 1999, Cassidy and Associates billed their clients 19.8 million dollars, making them the biggest grossing lobbying firm in the nation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another example of this is in New York City, where a hospital for special surgery, paid Cassidy 140,000 dollars and obtained a 1 million dollar grant from HRSA (Zeller 2006). This is what lobbyist companies are able to do they receive a sum from their customer and then in return try and give them a lot of government money. This affected Texas because not every time someone gives a lobbying group money are they guaranteed to receive anything in return. One of Cassidy s clients were the president at the University of Dallas, and what probably took place is that they did not get the federal funding at one of the universities in the state and now the accountant or comptroller begins to wonder why public universities are giving a lobbying group in Washington so much money and getting nothing back, so she pulls the plug on allowing them to receive any more money. Cassidy certainly has not shied away from looking shady with their business. In the nineties they hired as CEO a man named Marty Pusso and he was vice chairman of the house ways and means health subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over numerous healthcare issues and programs (Zeller 2006). Being the Vice Chairman as well as CEO of a lobbying company that in 1999 received 1.3 million dollars from 10 hospitals (Zeller 2006) seems to create a conflict of interest problem or in Pusso s case a solution. Furthermore, this questions as to how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
