Fifth Business
Fifth Business: The consequences of guilt All actions have consequences. Sometimes one does not
have to participate in the action, but only be related, and the crime committed can have serious
consequences for everyone. The consequence, or lack of consequence, is determined by one s
upbringing. This is clearly the case present in Robertston Davies Fifth Business. Although Boy
committed the crime, Dunstan feels a profound sense of guilt about the snowball incident. On the
other hand, Boy obliterates his guilt. Guilt and lack of guilt can clearly be seen through character s
lives, relationships and philosophies. The guilt felt by Dunstan altered the way he lives through his
complete devotion for Mary Dempster. Dunstan s guilt is the... Show more content on

It was characteristic of Boy throughout his life that he was always the quintessence of
something that somebody else had recognized and defined (Davies 113). He believes that he is
in control of every situation, but inside he cannot control his guilt that is still buried deep inside
himself. Contrary to Dunstan who feels responsible for problems, Boy runs away from his
problems by keeping himself busy. The death of Leola, his wife, clearly shows Boy s fear of
facing problems, for his does not show up for her funeral, Boy was in England, arranging
something or other connected with his Ministry, and duty and the difficulty of transatlantic
flights in wartime kept him there (Davies 194). Boy still yearns for fulfillment even though he
achieves greatness in terms of his financial success and his outward appearance. He says, I feel
rotten. I ve done just about everything I ve ever planned to do and everybody thinks I m a
success... But sometimes I wish I could get into a car and drive away from the whole damned
thing. (Davies). Boy knows that deep inside he is very unsuccessful. As he gets older, he is
supposed to be wiser, but his commitment to achieving the external greatness has stopped him
from being fully satisfied. There is an immense difference in the lives of Boy and Dunstan. Boy s
focus on his external being causes him live an unfulfilled life, like a boy who cannot see that there is

Summary Of Edna St. Vincent Millay s Ability To Control
Edna St. Vincent Millay s Ability to Control: An Analysis of the Personified Chaos The work of
prominent feminist writer Edna St. Vincent Millay continues to hold value in the educational space,
illustrating a sense of humanity and fragility through her verse. In nineteen twenty three, she
published her Italian sonnet I will put Chaos into fourteen lines, a powerful work that showcased
her ability to command language. Millay s sonnet chronicles her experience of pitting Chaos into
that confining structure of an Italian sonnet, making the figurative cacophony mingle with Order.
The sonnet emphasizes the importance of creativity through the form of chaos interacting with the
limiting structure and confines of rules and limitations represented by order. I can prove this
assertion through Millay s use of personification, Italian sonnet stanza structure, and meter iambic
pentameter. Millay uses personification in the sonnet to turn the figurative idea of chaos into a
character that she is able to control and tame. In the first line of the sonnet, the speaker asserts I
will put Chaos into fourteen lines (Millay 1), giving this non human, abstract idea human like
characteristics. By turning chaos into Chaos, Millay effectively shifts Chaos into a human like
character. The speaker of the poem showcases their ability to use language as a power to confine
this personified Chaos, to the strict form of the sonnet. In the second line, the speaker addresses
Chaos as a him

War Of Tomorrow
Imperial: War of Tomorrow Summary Lead your base and army in Imperial: War of Tomorrow
where the world is devoid of borders and states. Featuring a real world map, conquer cities and
revive them to their former glory! Use a variety of modern weapons and vehicles, from tanks to
helicopters.
____________________________________________________________________________
Imperial: War of Tomorrow is your typical, run of the mill real time strategy game. The setting is
cliche: you will take the role of a decorated commander. Your next mission which is basically the
tutorial stage will be to return to your hometown and stabilize the situation. The game doesn t give
much of a background story, though it follows the cliche be a powerful commander, raise your
army, and rule the world plot. Despite the game barely providing anything new, it may still be...

These range from food, steel, metal, and oil. There are not a lot of unit varieties from the start:
only two types of infantry will be available. Meanwhile, you wouldn t want to expect much from
the battles. You see, you would not be able to see tank on tank and soldier action: simply
command your units and once they reach the desired destination, the attack will ensue and
almost instantly. You will then be given a full report of what had transpired. Thankfully,
Imperial: War of Tomorrow does a good job in giving you rewards for finishing quests. This give
you a good sense of progression and you won t run out of resources from the start. However, the
missions are pretty simple and only range from creating a certain building, training a specific
unit, and researching a particular technology. Yes, these are pretty dull, but they can give you a
sense of direction. Overall, Imperial: War of Tomorrow isn t the best RTS game out there, but it s
a decent entry to an already bloated genre. It s worth playing and can give you dozens of hours of

My Personal Strengths And Strengths
Trying to decide what your personal strengths are, is hard. For myself, I have grown in my
strengths, and I ve experienced my weaknesses. My personal strengths consist of: positivity,
encouragement, laughter, and love. I pick these four because I feel that I am truly strongest in
these aspects of my life. Being positive is a big factor in everything I do. I always want to be
happy and joyful; not only to display Christ in me, but to make others feel the way I do. I want
others to appreciate life and to feel any kind of uplift in his or her spirt. Positivity plays into
encouragement. I make it my goal to make others feel better about themselves. My goal coming
into college was to learn and know every person(s) name that I got the chance to meet. Just taking
a few minutes out of your day to truly get to know someone, is such a blessing. It not only blesses
me in new friendships, but it also blesses others because they feel that someone genuinely cares
about them. Laughter is another characteristic I strive to pour out onto others. I laugh at practically
everything. I loveto laugh, and I love to make people laugh. I ve learned the importance of
laughter, and I just want to make one person smile every day. Love is my last of the four
attributes. Love is so important to me. I love creation (Trees, birds, squirrels), God, and I love
people. I just want the love that God has given me, to pour out onto others. I want others to know
that I love them. These are my personal strengths

Economic Inequality
Economic Inequality
The sacred American tradition of free public education is in turmoil. The values, knowledge and
creativity which forged America into the greatest nation of the world originated in the classroom.
Classrooms which thrived in the past, are suffering in the present. Inequalities in the American
education system are apparent and vivid; most prominent are those regarding income. Poverty s
relationship with education is parasitic, and the barrier its erecting between the student and the
American dream grows every day. American s must quickly agree upon a cure for this disease if
America is to be a healthy and prosperous nation for the future.
The first step in any plan for recovery is to diagnose the illness. Combining their ... Show more

The previously mentioned educational professors Greg J. Duncan and Richard J. Murnane
combined their knowledge in a Sage Journal publication proposing a solution which takes
advantage of advances in research knowledge provides important school supports for teachers and
school leaders and includes sensible systems of accountability [with] high academic standards
(Duncan 50). Reaching the educational needs of low income students requires a community of
dedicated professionals. Once this community is created, federal funding should be provided to
support community directives and goals. Continuing, educational expert Susan B. Neuman
professor of Teaching and Learning at New York University advocates for extra funding to support
poor communities along with additional human resources (Neuman 18). Neuman contends that an
increase of professionally trained educators along with federal funding will benefit any community
suffering from economic disadvantages. An education system with professionals has the ability to
develop community oriented goals and programs to assist underprivileged students in their
educational careers. Furthermore, if federal funds are allotted to such programs, their effectiveness
will increase significantly. Fortunately, the viability of this educational strategy is

A Humanitarian Crisis In Syria
What comes to mind when you hear a country is going through a humanitarian crisis? Perhaps
destruction, genocide, surveillance, propaganda, civilians not having a voice, and much more.
This is what happened in the city of Aleppo in Syria. Aleppo was one of the oldest city with
marvelous medieval architecture, rich cultural history, and its popularity in tourism. Aleppo was an
open museum and a home to two and half million people, but all of that was lost in the Battle of
Aleppo. Syriais ruled by the dictator Bashar al Assad and has been in power for seventeen years.
Assad restricted Syrian civilians from freedom of speech and according to CNN gave the
government broad power to detain people for perceived threats to national security (CNN).... Show

It is strongly suggested that Assad has used chemical weapons on his own people but till this
day he denies it. In September 2015 Russa became involved backing Assad s soldiers and
pounding rebel groups with airstrikes repeatedly. Moreover, reports of civilian massacres at the
hands of Assad s soldiers quickly filter out the city. The neighborhoods are destroyed making it
very difficult to live there, but some people have nowhere to go and have no choice but to stay.
Kids are wandering the city while explosions are going off every few seconds. In the Vice
episode Assad s Syria Isabella the interviewer comes across three men sitting play a game and
she find it rather weird that they had not left yet, but the men said they have nowhere else to go.
She also asked if they were scared because she was wearing a bullet vest and they were just sitting
in their normal clothes. The men replied that they are used to hearing the explosions and they had
accepted the fact that at any time they could die. This has been the unfortunate reality for Aleppo

Buddhism Artwork Along Silk Road Essay
Trade routes have always been more than just the means of transporting goods and services to
neighboring regions. These routes serve as a way to spread culture, art, religion, and many other
things amongst countries. One of the most outstanding trade routes in the past was the Silk Road
found in China. It was a route used by many people to travel and transport goods such as silk,
paper, livestock, jewels, and much more, from East to West China. It consisted of land and sea
routes, which made transportation and traveling convenient for man in that time period. There were
many items traded along the Silk Road that had a profound impact on the development of the

Much of these artworks were created during the Tang Dynasty, in the seventh century when trading
along the Silk Rode increased. The art developed during the Tang generation provided all with
valuable insight into the art. It was reflection of the cultural changed and the political power of the
Tang empire and the importance of Buddhism in Chinese culture. Buddhism began to spread along
the Silk Road and as it traveled it was accepted by those who lived in neighboring communities.
Monks who practiced Buddhism found many of these caves, and would paid artists to create murals
and paintings of the Buddhas teachings. Many of these caves had colorful wall painting and
Buddha images, which often were sponsored by travelers who sought protection for their journey
ahead or gave thanks for having their life. There were numerous murals that portrayed the preaching
scenes of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas that were reminders to believers of the religion to obtain their
ultimate goal of rebirth. By the late seventh century and early eighth century, Buddhism had
reached its highest point in China. With Buddhism reaching its peak, entire walls of the caves were
devoted to historical and legendary events, which allowed pilgrims to learn and practice the
religion. Throughout the Tang Dynasty artists traveled to The Caves of the Thousand Buddhas to
paint teachings of Buddhism, which included many portraits of

Raphael Semmes
Confederate rear admiral Raphael Semmes left an everlasting endowment as captain of the CSS
Alabama. Raphael Semmes faced many challenges as a boy and a man. Through all of his
challenges he remained calm and collective and pushed through. Although his life was threatened
many times during his time serving in the military from either being shot at or being drowned to
death after sinking a ship, he always fought no matter what the circumstances were.
Raphael Semmes was born in Charles County, Maryland on September 27, 1809. At the age of
fourteen he and his three siblings lost their mother, Catherine Semmes and father, Richard Semmes.

His ship was hit, causing it to sink. 39 members of the crew lost their lives, Semmes hardly
escaped with his. The court found no wrong with the way he handled the ship but in fact praised
him for it then sent him back to duty. After the war Semmes moved to Mobile Alabama where he
practiced law and wrote Service Afloat and Ashore During the Mexican War, a book about his
war experiences. In 1855 he was promoted to the Commander of the U.S. Navy. When Alabama
seceded from the Union, Semmes was sent north by President Jefferson Davis on a secret mission
to get military supplies for the Confederacy from the munitions brokers there. (Encyclopedia of
Alabama) After Semmes sunk his ship he was upset that almost all his men died except him this is
a challenge that Semmes pushed through and got back on his feet and resumed his duty back in the
navy after he went to court and they proved it wasn t his fault.
In 1861 Semmes resigned his commission in the U.S. Navy to work for the Confederate
government in Montgomery. The confederate Navy sent him north to buy ships and military
supplies and to find skilled mechanics to bring back. Semmes was then given command of the ship
Habana which was a steamship turned into a military destroyer ship (renamed C.S.S. Sumter). He
ran the Sumter through the Federal blockade on the Mississippi river, out sailing the U.S.S.

The Effects Of Hiv On Female Sex Workers
Introduction
Since the first cases of HIV were detected among female sex workers (FSW) in Chennai, India in
1986, dramatic progress has been made in the last three decades in the battle against HIV both in
India and globally (Mayer, 2011). Despite this progress, new infections continue to occur in 2012,
there were an estimated 2.3 million persons newly infected with HIV globally (UNAIDS, 2013).
Many new infections often occur within the context of a serodiscordant relationship an infected
partner in a relationship transmits HIV to the uninfected partner. Over the past thirty years, several
interventions have been identified to prevent HIV transmission from HIV infected persons to
uninfected persons in serodiscordant relationships. Yet, transmissions continue to occur.
Interventions such as voluntary counseling and testing, condom promotion, and risk reduction
counseling are very effective in preventing transmission among serodiscordant couples but are
underutilized in India despite their widespread availability (Kumar et al., 2011). Interventions such
as pre risk exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and universal antiretroviral therapy (irrespective of CD4
count) have been newly identified but face several challenges that impede their widespread
implementation in India (Kumar et al., 2011). Serodiscordant couples in India also face certain
unique socio cultural issues such as marital and fertility pressure (Gupta et al., 2010).

Current Level of Informatics Knowledge and Informatics in Current Practice Health care
information management is a core competency for professional nurses. However, not all nurses and
healthcare providers have adequate knowledge of operational informatics. Just as technology has
forced medical records and documentation to evolve to computer based charting, nurses must also
progress to rise above competency in information management. According to the Technology
Informatics Guiding Educational Reform Summit (TIGER) Initiative, the vision for informatics
prepared nurses includes management and leadership, education, communication and collaboration,
informatics design and technology, policy, and culture (Hood, 2010). As an educator, the focus of
nursing informatics lies in word processing, spreadsheets and databases, online resources and public
health information (PHI), curriculum planning, e mail, interpretation of the electronic medical
record (EMR), and online continuing education.
Informatics in the Workplace
One of the most important forms of communication in the professional nursing educator role is
through electronic mail, or e mail. E mail etiquette is crucial to effective communication in the
workplace. As the program coordinator for a nurse assistant program, the responsibilities remain in
the ability to effectively communicate with other educators, business partners in the health fields,
school counselors, and parents/students. In

The Bar At The Folies Bergere
The Bar at the Folies Bergere shows a young lady who works at the Folies Bergere, a Paris cafe.
The lady is the sole focus of the work. Manet has depicted her in a manner that seems both
thoughtful and aloof. Her mind seems elsewhere while she is focused on serving drinks and
appetizers to the noisy crowd. The viewer s attention is focused on her locket pendant, which
makes us think of a situation and place far away from this, where she is someone s beloved, not
one of many servers in an overcrowded establishment. Manet shows us a very picture of
alienation: the woman is somehow held apart from the friends, lovers, and barflies that occupy
the rest of the room. We notice that, like a vampire, she alone is not reflected in the glass. Manet
reveals everyone else through the unusual perspective of a mirror that distorts and distances its
subjects. The customers faces and bodies seem surreally distorted. Only the workaday objects at the
young lady s disposal, such as bottles of liquor, a vase of flowers, and a bowl of fruit, seem real to
the subject. She is leaning solidly on the bar as if she feels a need to do so in order to secure her
place in the world, lest she float away. The young lady s dress seems to stress her alienation from
the scene. She is very formally clad in what appears to be a velvet jacket with various underlying
layers of clothing. We would consider this a very fancy, formal dress. We can see from the images
reflected in the mirror that the bar

Shakespeare In Modern Society
Shakespeare relevance in modern society is a highly debated topic in modern classrooms. Many
students will argue that he is old and is to confusing, others will say he s boring. Then on the other
side of the argument students argue that he has shaped the modern english language and has
changed society for the better. Whilst others are undecided, listening to both sides of the argument
and not being able to decide. In this essay both sides will be discussed; talking about quoting
shakespeare and how much we use his words and phrases everyday, how the emotions in
shakespeare s playsare still relevant in modern society and audiences still react in the way the play
intended and finally how social norms have changed and it is no longer socially acceptable with it
putting the wrong ideas into people s heads.
Everyone quotes shakespeare or uses on of his works at least once everyday. Most people don t
even realize we are doing it. Most people probably think it s greek to me (a phrase created by
shakespeare), when really it is very common In between writing poems and plays shakespeare
was creating new words and phrases to fit his plays and other works. Shakespeare almost created
a whole nother language in his time creating round 1700 words. A study has shown that people
quote shakespeare at least four times everyday, which is pretty impressive for a guy that has been
dead for 400 years. Shakespeare has had a massive influence on the english language and he is very

How Did The Collapse Of The Mayan Civilization
There is no conclusive evidence for what caused the collapse of the Mayan civilization during the
Classic Era. There are several historical theories supported by the historical evidence that is
available. Two of these claims are climate change based upon deforestation + drought and society s
response to environmental problems producing waves of decline exacerbated by social, political,
and warfare issues.
Deforestation + drought claims that the existing drought condition was worsened by the

The Perception Of Sharks In The Film Jaws
The movie Jaws played a big role in the perception of how people look at sharks, Because they
showed the evil that sharks can do. When in reality, there s only 19 shark attacks each year and
2 fatality s every 2 years. The media portrays sharks as some evil demon like fish that once it see
anything it will eat it such as a boat, adults, kids, etc. Movies have depicted sharks by presenting
sharks in a evil in bad way that makes people think that because they have a lot of teeth in a big
mouth that they can just eat everything as it pleases. When in reality, the reason people get

Access Control Mechanisms Protect Sensitive Information...
Access control mechanisms protect sensitive information from unauthorized users. However, when
sensitive information is shared and a Privacy Protection Mechanism (PPM) is not in place, an
authorized user can still compromise the privacy of a person leading to identity disclosure. A PPM
can use suppression and generalization of relational data to anonymize and satisfy privacy
requirements, e.g., k anonymity and l diversity, against identity and attribute disclosure. However,
privacy is achieved at the cost of precision of authorized information., we propose an accuracy
constrained privacy preserving access controlframework. The access control policies define
selection predicates available to roles while the privacy requirement is to satisfy the k anonymity or
l diversity. An additional constraint that needs to be satisfied by the PPM is the imprecision bound
for each selection predicate. The techniques for workload aware anonymization for selection
predicates have been discussed in the literature. However, to the best of our knowledge, the problem
of satisfying the accuracy constraints for multiple roles has not been studied before. In our
formulation of the aforementioned problem, we propose heuristics for anonymization algorithms
and show empirically that the proposed approach satisfies imprecision bounds for more permissions
and has lower total imprecision than the current state of the art. E. Bertino and R. Sandhu, [5] wrote

The Importance Of Ethnicity In Schools
Teaching students about their ethnicity or even others should be enforced by the Board of
Education directors in high schools. American School Boards should mandate a curriculum that
provides multicultural and ethnic studies programs for their students. This allows our American
youth to have a wider perspective on human interaction and historical events that lead to world we
currently live in. More specifically, in American history, it provides a foundational understanding
of the numerous ethnic backgrounds that help shape this country into a pillar of freedom for the
world to see. America was built by people from all over the globe and this historical fact is the
primary reason our educational programs should include an understanding of all the cultures that
played a role in its success.
As a child I gained limited knowledge about other ethnicities, including from my own through
family and small circles of friends. Now that I m in college I m embarrassed by the fact that I
know so little about my own ethnic background as well as others. It s one matter to not know much
about other ethnic groups, but to not know about my own makes me feel like I m letting myself
down. Schools are meant to teach kids things they will need to know for in the future such as math,
reading, writing, science, and history. So, if ethnic studies teaches kids race, ethnicity, nation,
gender and sexuality, isn t that something kids will need to know more about in the future. Leaning

Elon Musk Essay
At what point does a revolutionary idea turn dangerous? Is human life expendable in order to
achieve an inspiring goal? Depending on the stakes, human loss of life may be acceptable to
some if it can t be prevented. But what if it death could be prevented? Elon Musk is absolutely a
visionary leader. His ambitious endeavor of creating companies like SpaceX, Tesla Motors, and
SolarCity is jaw dropping. The overall goal of these companies is to ensure humanity s survival
and to create renewable sources of transportation and energy. Mr. Musk uses transformational
leadership traits in the form of inspirational leadership by making an argument that this is
something we must do. He has also used tactics to stimulate change by creating a felt need for
long term survival. Certain actions on the path to his vision however, show that he is not an
ethical leader. His drive for success has already resulted in one death. He has also demonstrated
a lack of open mindedness by not allowing others to express concerns with his vision. By

of leading. Through this discovery and research, I have better insight on how I am going to

Friendship In Recitatif Themes
In Recitatif, a short story by Toni Morrison, Twyla and Roberta have their ups and downs. First
meeting in a shelter where they were both dropped off, the two develop a friendship. As they grow
older, the two will occasionally run into each other, sometimes things would go well and other
times they would not. And almost every time they do meet up, there is something mentioned about
Maggie. No matter how upsetting the encounter was with Roberta, Twyla was always able to hold
her ground. This goes to show that Twyla is independent, clever, and stubborn which made her a
stronger person.
Living in a shelter, without her mother, Twyla learned how to be independent. For example, despite
what her mother told her about people like Roberta, she made ... Show more content on

Memoir Of A Geisha Essay
The film that I watched is гЂЉThe Memoir of a GeishaгЂ‹, and it was released in the United
States on December 9, 2005. The director of this film is Rob Marshall, and 2 main characters in
the movie are Sayuri (starring by Ziyi Zhang) and Hatsumomo (Gong Li). Although this film is
produced by American directors, the origin of the story is in Japan. By the year when Chiyo is
nine, her father reluctantly sold her and her sister to a geisha house because of poverty. In that
geisha house, she is forced to do the cleaning every day with no return, until one day she achieves
higher hierarchy and is able to serve the customers. This story happened during the World War II.

They are the ritualization in Japanese culture, women s implicit expression of love, women s
hierarchy in 18th Japan, and how the landscape of Japan influences the prosperity of Geisha
culture. Unlike the enthusiastic Western women, women grew up in oriental culture often have
more restrained and gentle attitude, and this is one of the most symbolic cultural landscapes in
Japan. In the movie, Sayuri chases for love and all she wants to do is to get closer to the
Chairman. In fact, before the end of the story, she only sees chairman a few times in all, but she
has strong faith to be with him. It could even be said that her whole life started from the few
minutes of their encounters on the bridge. This is the typical oriental love, implicit but deeply
passionate. Another cultural issue that is mentioned in the film is ritualization. In the film, the
Colonel is impressed by the importance of rituals in Japan. This ritualization is shown
completely in this film. For example, In the other places, it is rare to see clients and geisha
bowing to each other before the intercourse, but this is a norm in Japan. So it could be said one
significant factor in Japanese culture is idealization, and Geisha is a component of this fantasy.

arrest rate in and before 1980. The war on drugs has had a significant impact on the prison

Introduction
We are studying the reaction between zinc and sulphuricacid, the reaction is catalysed by copper

Then the time was taken for the reaction to produce 20 cm3 of hydrogen. The reaction was then
repeated with different drops of copper sulphate.
Variables and Things that are kept constant
===========================================
The variables are the number of drops of the catalyst, Copper
Sulphate1 Drop,
2 Drops,
5 Drops,
7 Drops,
10 Drops and
15 Drops.
The things that are kept constant are the amount of zinc, the number of solution and the strength of
the acid, mixing the distilled water and the 2M acids carefully to make 1M acids.
This is a fair test because the only thing that is changed is the drop of the copper sulphate and that
is what was measuring. We will be repeating the experiment to get a better average.
The only thing that can make his test unfair is the pressure and the temperature, if we wanted to be
more accurate we would put the reaction in a bath to keep the temperature constant as water heats
up a lot slower than air so during the time it takes to do the experiment the heat will remain the
same.
Names and Quantities of the Solutions Used
==========================================
I will use 50cm3 1M Sulphuric Acid, H2SO4.To get 1M acid solution you add 25cm3 of Distilled
water and of sulphuric acid in either measuring cylinders or a graduated flask, which is more
accurate.
I will use Copper Sulphate, CUSO4 as the catalyst. I will use the following amounts of catalyst:
1 Drop,
2 Drops,

monarchs, and even more so when Latter inherited Spain that surrounded the country of France. It
was not until the 1700s that France started playing a major role in the European and world events.
In the 20th century, France has experienced numerous crises, including the devastation of two
world wars, political and social upheavals, and the loss of large empires Indochina, Algeria, West

Abortion Matters of Life and Death Casts Dispersions on...
Abortion
A.Jonathan Glover, in his article Matters of Life and Death casts dispersions on both pro abortion
and anti abortion debates citing them as too knee jerk emotional reactions diminishing the inherent
complexity of the other side (1. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Glover comprehensively addresses the
key points of both sides of the abortion debate and evaluates their inherent virtues, especially for
those who hold these opinions, then methodically points out its flaws. Ultimately, Glover comes to
the conclusion that though a fetus is a human at the moment of conception, the right to abort lies
with the mother and her own self determination.
Glover begins his article by claiming that the status of the fetus, historically, has been ... Show more

There are essentially three objections to murder: it takes away the victim s autonomy, it
prevents the victim from years of life it was due, and the effects of others who had some relation
to the victim (6. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Casting aside religious teachings because of the
variety of religions, Glover focuses on these three objections. Glover claims that a fetus has no
real autonomy of its own, thus can not be afforded its own rights and that even if the fetus did
have rights, the rights and autonomy of the mother supercede the rights of the fetus (7. Glover,
CC2006, p. 0113). In this way, the second reason also falls by the leeway because years of life due
to the mother if her life was threatened by the pregnancy or the years she has to invest in raising an
unwanted child is usurped by the birth of the fetus. And finally, though not explicitly mentioned, the
only other person that a fetus has any relation or interaction with is the mother, thus if the mother
wants the fetus aborted, the moral implications that arise reside solely with the mother.
It is in this way that Glover returns to his original assertion that to deny women the right to control
what happens in their bodies is wrong, but cautions that a fetus is a human right at conception, so
ending the life of the fetus is equal to ending the life of any human, yet the rights afforded to
women trump all of this and whatever moral pitfalls that a

Avoiding Physical Punishment In Child Rearing Essay
Avoiding Physical Punishment In Child Rearing
Is sparing the rod spoiling or saving the child? Is violence, resentment, anger or fear worth the risk
taken when striking him or her. Whether your for or against using physical punishment in child
development, as a parent, you will someday have to face this issue. Many parents are taught this
method in their childhood, and are not aware of any other way. Often originating from religion,
physical or corporal punishment is seen as an important ingredient in child rearing. This tool is used
to accomplish total authority by the parent and to receive total submission from the child. Physical
punishment may be convenient and achieve temporary conformance, but produces negative results,

Teaching total authority by the parent, most Conservative Protestants use corporal punishment
today as their forefathers did. In Spare the Child, Philip Greven points out, Modern forms of
Christian Fundamentalism share the same obsessions with obedience to authority characteristic of
earlier modes of Evangelical Protestantism, and the same authoritarian streak evident among
seventeenth and eighteenth century Anglo American Evangelicals is discernible today, for
precisely the same reasons: the coercion of children through painful punishments in order to teach
obedience to divine and parental authority (198).
The idea many years ago is obvious, society felt that physical punishment was necessary for
obedience. With study and research over time, successful child rearing has changed to produce
better results. Dr. Benjamin Spock adds, In the olden days, most children were spanked, on the
assumption that this was necessary to make them behave. In the twentieth century, as parents and
professionals have studied children here and in other countries, they have come to realize that
children can be well behaved, cooperative, and polite without ever having been punished physically
(437). Realizing the impact this old fashioned method can have on a child, society is changing their
views on how we should discipline. We are moving away from intimidation and pain tactics to more
effective, positive methods.

It Is Critical For Self Disclosure Ethical And Clinical...
It is critical for self disclosure precautions, frequency in practice, potential risks, and potential
advantages to be reconciled through a research integrated framework considerate of paramount
ethical and clinical considerations. An attempt to do so will be made through first overviewing
self disclosure ethical and clinical principles identified in the scholarly literature. These
principles will then be synthesized into a larger discussion in which there will be identification
of which theoretical and conceptual positions are most supported by admittedly limited
empirical research and will therefore be discussed in their implications/application to various
practice scenarios. In so doing, the discussion first addresses the more conservative subject of
whether or not to disclose and then progresses into discussing what can or should be disclosed to
which clients under what clinical circumstances and contexts (Audet, 2011). Moreover, because

Industrilization In The 1800 s
Industrilization began in the late 1700s throught the 1800 s and this was a huge change for the
U.S. This also became an incredible part to America in the early to mid 1800 s. Technology and
machines made production of new goods easier for businesses but industries that were new needed
easier and efficient ways to bring in raw materials. They needed to bring these materials to the
factories and transport the items to new markets but they needed workers to help dp all of this
work. Immigration began in the mid 1800 s. European immigrants came to the U.S trying to hunt
out new opportunities. They mostly snuck through the east coat around Boston and New York.
These immigrants were trying to keep away from busy cities, poor harvesting and dificult

Andromache In EuripidesTiger At The Gates
Andromache vengefully curses Helen, calling her an evil incarnate, a curse on both barbarians
and Greeks and one whose beautiful eyes brought ugly destruction to the noble fields of Phrygia
(Euripides. TTW.781 783). As a female, soon to be slave of Greek enemy forces, she knows she
can do no more than curse; at this point in the time, she must accept a fate of servitude or death.
The word Andromache stems from бјЂОЅО®ПЃ,man, and ОјО¬П‡ОїОјО±О№, to battle or
dispute (Liddell).
Her characteristics and actions in Tiger at the Gates appropriately reflect the apparent meaning of
her name: one who fights or disputes with a man. In the beginning of the play, pro war and anti
war sides are swiftly drawn in Troy, with the old men rallying for war and women calling for
peace. Andromache is quick to establish her position, along with Hecuba, against war and against
the men. Although she does not lead the anti war argument (it is Hector and Hecuba who do so), she
calmly disputes with Priam in a logical manner, albeit sometimes snarky manner. She
acknowledges Priam s fondness for women and so, asks him to listen to what they have to say.
She follows this by judiciously asking how their country will be made stronger by sending the
vigorous and brave men of Troy to their deaths (Giradoux 21 22). This interaction not only
illustrates her wisdom and moral strength, but her desire for peace above all. She knows all too
well the bitter tragedies and bleak destructions war will bring, as

Good or Bad Customer Service Essay
A large part of being a good service provider is ensuring customer convenience.
Study findings show that strong leadership systems focus on customers, motivate employees, and
implement their customer service vision. They also focus great attention on gathering the
information needed to track customer satisfaction, and employees overall performance. Customer
service should be designed and delivered seamlessly from the customer s point of view. Customer
driven operations lead to success. Decentralized, uncoordinated customer service provision makes
for a most frustrating experience for customers.

I took my family to our local McDonalds for lunch a week ago (after 1 pm) and waited in line for
over 25 minutes with only 4 other customers in line before us. Of the two cash registers
originally open, one lady (unable to read name covered by apron) left without informing the
people in line directly in front of her that she was closing. The assistant manager (I assume since
he had no name tag but was wearing a striped shirt (everyone else was wearing green shirts)) was
called to the front 4 times to correct erroneous orders, and finally opened another register.
Unfortunately, he waited on us. We ordered salad shakers that ended up being (at best) warm.
He needed to return to the register for each item, and even then had the order messed up. He
literally threw my children s orders of French fries on the tray as well as their burgers. While we
were waiting, I watched one rather slovenly worker (with a large grease stain and cheese on his
BACK) throw a quot;to go quot; bag and complain to the people in the back about being busy.
There appeared to be more than enough people working, but planning and management were
severely lacking.
I recently visited another McDonalds in my area with my kids and my little cousin, then I have
another disappointment. I ordered the kid meal for him; it came with a toy and a drink with the
meal. I asked for milk, which to me is more nutritious than soda. Soda does have gobs of sugar in
them, which is not healthy for any human young or

Essay on The Psychology of Freud
The Psychology of Freud
After Charles Darwin, Sigmund Freud (1836 1939) probably revolutionized Western thought more
than any other thinker in the past century. His psychodynamic approach to psychology and the
forces behind human motivations is best known for its focus on childhood sexuality and his picture
of the mind. His research focused on case studies of individuals and their motivations first through
hypnosis and later through a technique that he called psychoanalysis where he allowed the patient
to talk freely and experience a cathartic release of emotions.
Freud was greatly influenced by the science of the time, especially the Darwinian revolution and
advances in physics. The Darwinian idea that people are merely ... Show more content on

Freud pays most attention to the unconscious, the completely invisible layer of the mind and seat
of wishes and motivations. The metaphor of an iceberg is often used to describe the levels of
consciousness; the conscious is only the very tip of the iceberg that is visible above the water, the
preconscious is just below the surface and only slightly visible, while the vast majority of the
iceberg, as well as the mind s processes, lie below, in the unconscious.
The three forces shaping human personality are the id, the ego, and the superego. Most of the
interaction between the three occurs on the unconscious level, especially processes of the id and
the superego (Seligman). The id, known as the pleasure principle, demands immediate gratification
of desires. Infants are controlled solely by the id, and thus act whenever they feel any lack of their
wants. To counteract the id is an internalization of societal demands in the superego. The superego
strives to direct actions toward morality and socially acceptable actions. The superego corresponds
to the everyday conscience that tells us when we are doing something bad.
The tension between the id and superego is mediated by the ego, or the reality principle. When the
goals of the two forces conflict, as they often do, the ego works to satisfy desires as much as

Currently, the part of bioethics that is most developed in Malaysia is that which relates to
biosafety which is governed by the Biosafety Act 2007 (hereinafter the 2007 Act ). This Act is
under the auspice of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE). However,
strangely the biotechnology industry is under the supervision of the Ministry of Science,
Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). As for the agriculture industry, the relevant ministry is the
Ministry of Agriculture, while the Ministry of Health is responsible for medical practices and
food products. The fact that different ministries are involved in governing issues in biotechnology
has led to not only the lack of coordination between them but also possible overlapping functions
in implementing the 2007 Act and its regulation. Apart from this, however, the provisions of the
2007 Act is rather vague on other bioethical issues. The 2007 Act which was gazetted in 2007,
generally provides for biosafety and addresses all Living Modified Organisms (LMOs). It is
interesting to note that Malaysia uses the term LMOs rather than GMOs and Malaysia has made a
declaration in the Convention of Biodiversity 1994 that the former term gives meaning to the latter.
The 2007 Act is envisaged to strike a rather difficult balance between the creation of a sustainable
biosafety on the one hand and the protection of

Pyramids Research Paper
Pyramids A pyramid, by definition, is a type of ancient structure that is massive in scale and has
a square base with four sides that form a triangular shape. These pyramids were constructed
thousands of years ago and still stand strong. They were built by the ancient Egyptians, by
basically piling loads and loads of materials on top of each other in the shape of a pyramid. It
seems like a simple process but it was very time consuming and required a lot of analyzing to
make sure the pyramids turned out symmetrical. Since these pyramids are still in decent shape, it
shows how well they were built. The materials used to build these pyramids consisted of mostly
stone, wood, and copper. The egyptianswere very limited when it came to supplies. The... Show

These pharaohs were believed to live forever, even after death. The pyramids were supposed to
help them in be able to live in the afterlife. The dead pharaohs were mummified and then stored
in tombs inside the pyramids. Since the egyptians spent a great deal of time and effort into
making these pyramids, it shows how important the afterlife was to them. Building these
pyramids was a very important part of their life. Ziggurats, on the other hand, were not used to
store dead bodies, they was used for more religious and ceremonial purposes. Other pyramids, like
the Aztec stepped pyramid called the Templo Mayor, was used for rituals and was used to perform
sacrifices. These magnificent structures called pyramids, have had many purposes and importance
to many. Not only did they serve as tombs for important pharaohs, but they were a place for
religious practice, ceremony, and rituals. These structures hold great significance because they give
us an insight as to what the egyptians viewed as important in their lifetime. It gives us some history
on ancient egyptians and their abilities. The time and effort put into these structures show how

Density Lab Report Essay
From this lab, we can learn how using the volume and mass of an object can be used to the
calculate density, and how the density can help you to identify what substance the object is made
of. We began the lab by obtaining object C and recorded the physical properties of the substance.
Next, the object was placed onto a scale to determine the massin grams (56.56g). We used a ruler to
measure the radius of the base (.6cm) and the height (5cm) of the cylinder shaped substance. We
plugged these measurements into the volumeformula for a cylinder (V
=ПЂr2 h) in order to determine the volume of the object (5.652cm3). We plugged the mass and
volume into the density formula (D=m/v) and determined the density of object C (10.0 g/cm3). This

Marketing Plan for The Little Package to be Delivered
Establishing a marketing plan involves several steps and requires questions that should be asked
and answered while marketing the manufactured goods. It is time to develop and create a
marketing plan for The Little Package to be Delivered, a for profit company, and use this marketing
plan to introduce the company s branding and logo. Beginning with the marketingplan, expand on
the intentions which are included in the vision and mission statements set up by management.
Around the statements develop, if needed, a brand or logo for the products while highlighting the
company s cause related marketing or CRM (Sandhya Girija, 2011). At the same time, maintain the
marketing strategies of the company s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats or better
known as SWOT (Penn 2011). Evaluation of the company will be needed so incorporate a method
to establish the achievable means to obtain the campaign s goals, vision and mission. A thorough
examination of distinctive types of market processes will make for effective marketing plan and

Paulo Freire The Banking Concept Of Education
Paulo Freire believes that the world is primarily dominated by the banking concept in regards to
education. Under the banking concept, Freire describes the relationship between students and
teachers as involv[ing] a narrating Subject (the teacher) and patient, listening objects (the students)
(216). Freire later goes on to symbolize students as empty receptacles awaiting teachers to dump
their knowledge freely to fill the empty spaces. Memorization, obedience, oppression, and
dominance all describe the inner workings of the banking concept. Students lose their ability to
become cogitative thinkers as they memorize lectures, never speak their voice or dissent to
teachers, and give all of their freedom to their professors. Students then become slaves to the
classroom, and rather than a symbiotic relationship existing between students and teachers, the road
is very one way. If Freire were to analyze... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In section two of the piece, Rodriguez even admits that with many of the books he did not
understand the true meaning. Before closing Section II, Rodriguez states I read in order to acquire
a point of view. I vacuumed books for epigrams, scraps of information, ideas, themes anything to fill
the hollow within me and make me feel educated (350). This points readers in the direction that the
banking concept molds students to be mindless receptacles awaiting dumped knowledge; reading
then is used to soak in the word count and not the actual meaning behind the piece. In The Banking
Concept of Education, Freire makes an interesting point:
The interests of the oppressors lie in changing the consciousness of the oppressed, not the situation
which oppresses them ...the more the oppressed can be led to adapt to that situation, the more
easily they can be dominated

Andrew Carnegie Gospel Of Wealth
Andrew Carnegie was a Scottish immigrant, born in 1835. His first foray into the world of work
was as a bobbin boy, at the age of 13, where he earned $1.20 per week. Carnegie quickly gained
skills and proved his work ethic, until he landed a job with the Pennsylvania Railroad, and was
promoted to superintendent by the age of 24 (Carnegie.org, 2015). From there, Carnegie s vision
and success grew exponentially, and now his name is often mentioned alongside the likes of
Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and Cornelius Vanderbilt (Biography.com, 2017). With great success,
came great wealth, and Carnegie developed very clear ideas concerning how wealth should be
handled. These ideas led Carnegie to write an article which is today... Show more content on

The 2016 election saw a candidate, Bernie Sanders, whose views many considered to border on
socialism. (Sanders asserts he is actually a Democratic Socialist.) Sanders views brought the
debate over capitalism vs. socialism closer to the forefront of American politics than it has ever
been. Carnegie seemed to be like minded. When asked in an interview if he was a Socialist, he
did not answer directly, but made the following statement, I believe socialism is the grandest
theory ever presented, and I am sure some day it will rule the world... Then men will be content to
work for the general welfare and share their riches with their neighbors (Nassaw, 2006). Obviously,
Carnegie s prediction has yet to come to fruition in the United States. While Sanders had (and still
has) many staunch supporters, his ideals drew much criticism from those who argued that they
incentivized failure. Interestingly, Carnegie drew a distinction between how one gains wealth, and
the effect this may have on how he spends his money. There are those who inherit wealth; they are
the most likely to spend frivolously. To the contrary, those who earn money through hard work,
develop a greater appreciation for money. He further encouraged those with great wealth to set an
example of modest, unostentatious living, shunning display or extravagance (Carnegie, 1901).
Facets of today s society can be seen praising pretension, and encouraging flashiness or frivolity. As
cultural values change, the

Differences Between Private Sector And Voluntary Sector
1.Understand organisational structures
1.1Explain the differences between the private sector, public sector and voluntary sector
Private Sector
Businesses and industries that are not owned or controlled by the Government. Private Sector
organisations operate privately to make a profit with income generated from the sale of their
products or services. Although many private sector firms are owned and controlled by individuals,
many are owned by groups of people; for example, companies may be owned by shareholders, who
have invested in that company.
The Private Sector includes:

They are usually controlled by a directors or a management committee.
The Voluntary Sector is often referred to as the Third Sector or Not for Profit Sector. Whist they
do not exist to provide profit for shareholders, they need to generate income.
The Voluntary Sector includes:
Charities Oxfam, Red Cross, YMCA, Women s Royal Voluntary Service
Trusts Local Housing Associations
Local community organisations Neighbourhood Watch Schemes
Societies/Clubs Local sports clubs, Scouts, Guides
1.2Explain the functions of different organisational structures
Having the appropriate structure is vital for an organisation or business to meet its aims and
objectives. A business may be structured by:
Functions activities such as customer service, marketing, operations, finance or IT
Location where regional divisions of the business take responsibility for a specific function or
particular products, whether locally, nationally or internationally
Product or services where the business is divided into the particular products made or services
provided
All organisations have employees working at different levels of responsibility. At the bottom, a
business depends on its operatives to produce the products or services. Team leaders often perform
the day to day management role, with operational managers setting direction and strategy for the
business as a whole. The number of employees in each level will depend on the business

Students With Autism Spectrum Disorder
Assignment 2
Part A.
Classroom engagement is always a key issue to rookie teachers. There are various types of learner
exist within a classroom and they each need to be treated differently. As teachers, we need to raise
our awareness of the attributes, competencies and challenges for each of those different learner
types in order to engage them in the class. This portfolio will introduce Autism Spectrum Disorder,
Hearing Impairment, Gifted and Talented Students and Challenging Behaviour in the classroom as
example of various learner types and discuss learning competencies and challenges, and then
provide possible engagement strategies for each of those learner types. Part B of this portfolio will
discuss four teaching strategies that are likely to engage students with autism spectrum disorder.
Autism Spectrum Disorder
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental condition that will impair individuals
communication ability and social interaction with others. Individuals with autism spectrum disorder
will more lilely to have restricted and repetitive behaviour or interest (Dawson Osterling, 1997).
Dawson Osterling then further added that students with autism spectrum disorder are often more
passive and more likely to be disengaged than their peers. Even when engaged, those students often
engage to object rather than people or surrounding enviroment (eg. class). This means students with
autism spectrum disorder will have significantly less interaction with

Mohammad s Creation Of A Trans Tribal State
Mohammad s creation of a trans tribal state occurred during his population of Medina. After he was
persecuted in Mecca, Mohammad sought refuge in Medina. After successfully gaining protection

crops, created employment, found water alternatives, and created a town center. After surpassing
necessities Mohammad moved on to his ultimate goal a unified, religious state. Mohammad sought

The aim of the Constitution was to unify, this meant that non natives and immigrants would be
considered equal in the eyes of the law. The term, believer, frequently used in the document was not
exclusive to Muslims, the articles clarify that a protected believer could be from a different faith so
long as they agree to the terms of the Constitution. It is important to note that some Muslim
countries today would actually be in violation of the Constitution seeing as they do believe in a
hierarchical social and legal system. The ideal state sought to eradicate Pagan practices from the
land by bringing in other nations for a stronger monotheistic presence. Articles 29 40of the
Constitution deal with the specifications for Jewish tribes, including protection and status. At first
glance the extensive amount of articles seems unnecessary, but Khan points out that each article is
specified to show the Jews equality in the eyes of Muhammad. Each article specified a different
Jewish tribe, this showed Muhammad s acknowledgement of each unique tribe while also stating
their equality in his eyes; each tribe s article is identical therefore no tribe is considered loftier than
another. Article 28 states that all disagreements which cannot be settled between people will be
answered by Allah and Muhammad. Although other minorities agreed to live in peace with and

  • 2. Fifth Business Fifth Business: The consequences of guilt All actions have consequences. Sometimes one does not have to participate in the action, but only be related, and the crime committed can have serious consequences for everyone. The consequence, or lack of consequence, is determined by one s upbringing. This is clearly the case present in Robertston Davies Fifth Business. Although Boy committed the crime, Dunstan feels a profound sense of guilt about the snowball incident. On the other hand, Boy obliterates his guilt. Guilt and lack of guilt can clearly be seen through character s lives, relationships and philosophies. The guilt felt by Dunstan altered the way he lives through his complete devotion for Mary Dempster. Dunstan s guilt is the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It was characteristic of Boy throughout his life that he was always the quintessence of something that somebody else had recognized and defined (Davies 113). He believes that he is in control of every situation, but inside he cannot control his guilt that is still buried deep inside himself. Contrary to Dunstan who feels responsible for problems, Boy runs away from his problems by keeping himself busy. The death of Leola, his wife, clearly shows Boy s fear of facing problems, for his does not show up for her funeral, Boy was in England, arranging something or other connected with his Ministry, and duty and the difficulty of transatlantic flights in wartime kept him there (Davies 194). Boy still yearns for fulfillment even though he achieves greatness in terms of his financial success and his outward appearance. He says, I feel rotten. I ve done just about everything I ve ever planned to do and everybody thinks I m a success... But sometimes I wish I could get into a car and drive away from the whole damned thing. (Davies). Boy knows that deep inside he is very unsuccessful. As he gets older, he is supposed to be wiser, but his commitment to achieving the external greatness has stopped him from being fully satisfied. There is an immense difference in the lives of Boy and Dunstan. Boy s focus on his external being causes him live an unfulfilled life, like a boy who cannot see that there is ... • 3. Summary Of Edna St. Vincent Millay s Ability To Control Edna St. Vincent Millay s Ability to Control: An Analysis of the Personified Chaos The work of prominent feminist writer Edna St. Vincent Millay continues to hold value in the educational space, illustrating a sense of humanity and fragility through her verse. In nineteen twenty three, she published her Italian sonnet I will put Chaos into fourteen lines, a powerful work that showcased her ability to command language. Millay s sonnet chronicles her experience of pitting Chaos into that confining structure of an Italian sonnet, making the figurative cacophony mingle with Order. The sonnet emphasizes the importance of creativity through the form of chaos interacting with the limiting structure and confines of rules and limitations represented by order. I can prove this assertion through Millay s use of personification, Italian sonnet stanza structure, and meter iambic pentameter. Millay uses personification in the sonnet to turn the figurative idea of chaos into a character that she is able to control and tame. In the first line of the sonnet, the speaker asserts I will put Chaos into fourteen lines (Millay 1), giving this non human, abstract idea human like characteristics. By turning chaos into Chaos, Millay effectively shifts Chaos into a human like character. The speaker of the poem showcases their ability to use language as a power to confine this personified Chaos, to the strict form of the sonnet. In the second line, the speaker addresses Chaos as a him ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Featuring a real world map, conquer cities and revive them to their former glory! Use a variety of modern weapons and vehicles, from tanks to helicopters. ____________________________________________________________________________ Imperial: War of Tomorrow is your typical, run of the mill real time strategy game. The setting is cliche: you will take the role of a decorated commander. Your next mission which is basically the tutorial stage will be to return to your hometown and stabilize the situation. The game doesn t give much of a background story, though it follows the cliche be a powerful commander, raise your army, and rule the world plot. Despite the game barely providing anything new, it may still be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These range from food, steel, metal, and oil. There are not a lot of unit varieties from the start: only two types of infantry will be available. Meanwhile, you wouldn t want to expect much from the battles. You see, you would not be able to see tank on tank and soldier action: simply command your units and once they reach the desired destination, the attack will ensue and almost instantly. You will then be given a full report of what had transpired. Thankfully, Imperial: War of Tomorrow does a good job in giving you rewards for finishing quests. This give you a good sense of progression and you won t run out of resources from the start. However, the missions are pretty simple and only range from creating a certain building, training a specific unit, and researching a particular technology. Yes, these are pretty dull, but they can give you a sense of direction. Overall, Imperial: War of Tomorrow isn t the best RTS game out there, but it s a decent entry to an already bloated genre. It s worth playing and can give you dozens of hours of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. My Personal Strengths And Strengths Trying to decide what your personal strengths are, is hard. For myself, I have grown in my strengths, and I ve experienced my weaknesses. My personal strengths consist of: positivity, encouragement, laughter, and love. I pick these four because I feel that I am truly strongest in these aspects of my life. Being positive is a big factor in everything I do. I always want to be happy and joyful; not only to display Christ in me, but to make others feel the way I do. I want others to appreciate life and to feel any kind of uplift in his or her spirt. Positivity plays into encouragement. I make it my goal to make others feel better about themselves. My goal coming into college was to learn and know every person(s) name that I got the chance to meet. Just taking a few minutes out of your day to truly get to know someone, is such a blessing. It not only blesses me in new friendships, but it also blesses others because they feel that someone genuinely cares about them. Laughter is another characteristic I strive to pour out onto others. I laugh at practically everything. I loveto laugh, and I love to make people laugh. I ve learned the importance of laughter, and I just want to make one person smile every day. Love is my last of the four attributes. Love is so important to me. I love creation (Trees, birds, squirrels), God, and I love people. I just want the love that God has given me, to pour out onto others. I want others to know that I love them. These are my personal strengths ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Economic Inequality Economic Inequality The sacred American tradition of free public education is in turmoil. The values, knowledge and creativity which forged America into the greatest nation of the world originated in the classroom. Classrooms which thrived in the past, are suffering in the present. Inequalities in the American education system are apparent and vivid; most prominent are those regarding income. Poverty s relationship with education is parasitic, and the barrier its erecting between the student and the American dream grows every day. American s must quickly agree upon a cure for this disease if America is to be a healthy and prosperous nation for the future. The first step in any plan for recovery is to diagnose the illness. Murnane combined their knowledge in a Sage Journal publication proposing a solution which takes advantage of advances in research knowledge provides important school supports for teachers and school leaders and includes sensible systems of accountability [with] high academic standards (Duncan 50). Reaching the educational needs of low income students requires a community of dedicated professionals. Once this community is created, federal funding should be provided to support community directives and goals. Continuing, educational expert Susan B. Neuman professor of Teaching and Learning at New York University advocates for extra funding to support poor communities along with additional human resources (Neuman 18). Neuman contends that an increase of professionally trained educators along with federal funding will benefit any community suffering from economic disadvantages. An education system with professionals has the ability to develop community oriented goals and programs to assist underprivileged students in their educational careers. Furthermore, if federal funds are allotted to such programs, their effectiveness will increase significantly. Fortunately, the viability of this educational strategy is ... Perhaps destruction, genocide, surveillance, propaganda, civilians not having a voice, and much more. This is what happened in the city of Aleppo in Syria. Aleppo was one of the oldest city with marvelous medieval architecture, rich cultural history, and its popularity in tourism. Aleppo was an open museum and a home to two and half million people, but all of that was lost in the Battle of Aleppo. Syriais ruled by the dictator Bashar al Assad and has been in power for seventeen years. In September 2015 Russa became involved backing Assad s soldiers and pounding rebel groups with airstrikes repeatedly. Moreover, reports of civilian massacres at the hands of Assad s soldiers quickly filter out the city. The neighborhoods are destroyed making it very difficult to live there, but some people have nowhere to go and have no choice but to stay. Kids are wandering the city while explosions are going off every few seconds. In the Vice episode Assad s Syria Isabella the interviewer comes across three men sitting play a game and she find it rather weird that they had not left yet, but the men said they have nowhere else to go. She also asked if they were scared because she was wearing a bullet vest and they were just sitting in their normal clothes. These routes serve as a way to spread culture, art, religion, and many other things amongst countries. One of the most outstanding trade routes in the past was the Silk Road found in China. It was a route used by many people to travel and transport goods such as silk, paper, livestock, jewels, and much more, from East to West China. Buddhism began to spread along the Silk Road and as it traveled it was accepted by those who lived in neighboring communities. Monks who practiced Buddhism found many of these caves, and would paid artists to create murals and paintings of the Buddhas teachings. Many of these caves had colorful wall painting and Buddha images, which often were sponsored by travelers who sought protection for their journey ahead or gave thanks for having their life. There were numerous murals that portrayed the preaching scenes of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas that were reminders to believers of the religion to obtain their ultimate goal of rebirth. By the late seventh century and early eighth century, Buddhism had reached its highest point in China. With Buddhism reaching its peak, entire walls of the caves were devoted to historical and legendary events, which allowed pilgrims to learn and practice the religion. Many new infections often occur within the context of a serodiscordant relationship an infected partner in a relationship transmits HIV to the uninfected partner. Over the past thirty years, several interventions have been identified to prevent HIV transmission from HIV infected persons to uninfected persons in serodiscordant relationships. Yet, transmissions continue to occur. Interventions such as voluntary counseling and testing, condom promotion, and risk reduction counseling are very effective in preventing transmission among serodiscordant couples but are underutilized in India despite their widespread availability (Kumar et al., 2011). Interventions such as pre risk exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and universal antiretroviral therapy (irrespective of CD4 count) have been newly identified but face several challenges that impede their widespread implementation in India (Kumar et al., 2011). Serodiscordant couples in India also face certain unique socio cultural issues such as marital and fertility pressure (Gupta et al., 2010). New guidelines published by the World Health ... Current Level of Informatics Knowledge and Informatics in Current Practice Health care information management is a core competency for professional nurses. However, not all nurses and healthcare providers have adequate knowledge of operational informatics. Just as technology has forced medical records and documentation to evolve to computer based charting, nurses must also progress to rise above competency in information management. According to the Technology Informatics Guiding Educational Reform Summit (TIGER) Initiative, the vision for informatics prepared nurses includes management and leadership, education, communication and collaboration, informatics design and technology, policy, and culture (Hood, 2010). As an educator, the focus of nursing informatics lies in word processing, spreadsheets and databases, online resources and public health information (PHI), curriculum planning, e mail, interpretation of the electronic medical record (EMR), and online continuing education. Informatics in the Workplace One of the most important forms of communication in the professional nursing educator role is through electronic mail, or e mail. E mail etiquette is crucial to effective communication in the workplace. As the program coordinator for a nurse assistant program, the responsibilities remain in the ability to effectively communicate with other educators, business partners in the health fields, school counselors, and parents/students. • 13. The Bar At The Folies Bergere The Bar at the Folies Bergere shows a young lady who works at the Folies Bergere, a Paris cafe. The lady is the sole focus of the work. Manet has depicted her in a manner that seems both thoughtful and aloof. Her mind seems elsewhere while she is focused on serving drinks and appetizers to the noisy crowd. The viewer s attention is focused on her locket pendant, which makes us think of a situation and place far away from this, where she is someone s beloved, not one of many servers in an overcrowded establishment. Manet shows us a very picture of alienation: the woman is somehow held apart from the friends, lovers, and barflies that occupy the rest of the room. We notice that, like a vampire, she alone is not reflected in the glass. Manet reveals everyone else through the unusual perspective of a mirror that distorts and distances its subjects. The customers faces and bodies seem surreally distorted. Only the workaday objects at the young lady s disposal, such as bottles of liquor, a vase of flowers, and a bowl of fruit, seem real to the subject. She is leaning solidly on the bar as if she feels a need to do so in order to secure her place in the world, lest she float away. The young lady s dress seems to stress her alienation from the scene. She is very formally clad in what appears to be a velvet jacket with various underlying layers of clothing. We would consider this a very fancy, formal dress. We can see from the images reflected in the mirror that the bar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Shakespeare In Modern Society Shakespeare relevance in modern society is a highly debated topic in modern classrooms. Many students will argue that he is old and is to confusing, others will say he s boring. Then on the other side of the argument students argue that he has shaped the modern english language and has changed society for the better. Whilst others are undecided, listening to both sides of the argument and not being able to decide. In this essay both sides will be discussed; talking about quoting shakespeare and how much we use his words and phrases everyday, how the emotions in shakespeare s playsare still relevant in modern society and audiences still react in the way the play intended and finally how social norms have changed and it is no longer socially acceptable with it putting the wrong ideas into people s heads. Everyone quotes shakespeare or uses on of his works at least once everyday. Most people don t even realize we are doing it. Most people probably think it s greek to me (a phrase created by shakespeare), when really it is very common In between writing poems and plays shakespeare was creating new words and phrases to fit his plays and other works. Shakespeare almost created a whole nother language in his time creating round 1700 words. A study has shown that people quote shakespeare at least four times everyday, which is pretty impressive for a guy that has been dead for 400 years. There are several historical theories supported by the historical evidence that is available. However, when sensitive information is shared and a Privacy Protection Mechanism (PPM) is not in place, an authorized user can still compromise the privacy of a person leading to identity disclosure. A PPM can use suppression and generalization of relational data to anonymize and satisfy privacy requirements, e.g., k anonymity and l diversity, against identity and attribute disclosure. However, privacy is achieved at the cost of precision of authorized information., we propose an accuracy constrained privacy preserving access controlframework. The access control policies define selection predicates available to roles while the privacy requirement is to satisfy the k anonymity or l diversity. An additional constraint that needs to be satisfied by the PPM is the imprecision bound for each selection predicate. The techniques for workload aware anonymization for selection predicates have been discussed in the literature. However, to the best of our knowledge, the problem of satisfying the accuracy constraints for multiple roles has not been studied before. In our formulation of the aforementioned problem, we propose heuristics for anonymization algorithms and show empirically that the proposed approach satisfies imprecision bounds for more permissions and has lower total imprecision than the current state of the art. American School Boards should mandate a curriculum that provides multicultural and ethnic studies programs for their students. This allows our American youth to have a wider perspective on human interaction and historical events that lead to world we currently live in. More specifically, in American history, it provides a foundational understanding of the numerous ethnic backgrounds that help shape this country into a pillar of freedom for the world to see. America was built by people from all over the globe and this historical fact is the primary reason our educational programs should include an understanding of all the cultures that played a role in its success. As a child I gained limited knowledge about other ethnicities, including from my own through family and small circles of friends. Now that I m in college I m embarrassed by the fact that I know so little about my own ethnic background as well as others. It s one matter to not know much about other ethnic groups, but to not know about my own makes me feel like I m letting myself down. Schools are meant to teach kids things they will need to know for in the future such as math, reading, writing, science, and history. Mr. Musk uses transformational leadership traits in the form of inspirational leadership by making an argument that this is something we must do. He has also used tactics to stimulate change by creating a felt need for long term survival. Certain actions on the path to his vision however, show that he is not an ethical leader. Unlike the enthusiastic Western women, women grew up in oriental culture often have more restrained and gentle attitude, and this is one of the most symbolic cultural landscapes in Japan. In the movie, Sayuri chases for love and all she wants to do is to get closer to the Chairman. In fact, before the end of the story, she only sees chairman a few times in all, but she has strong faith to be with him. Abortion A.Jonathan Glover, in his article Matters of Life and Death casts dispersions on both pro abortion and anti abortion debates citing them as too knee jerk emotional reactions diminishing the inherent complexity of the other side (1. Glover comprehensively addresses the key points of both sides of the abortion debate and evaluates their inherent virtues, especially for those who hold these opinions, then methodically points out its flaws. Ultimately, Glover comes to the conclusion that though a fetus is a human at the moment of conception, the right to abort lies with the mother and her own self determination. Glover begins his article by claiming that the status of the fetus, historically, has been ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There are essentially three objections to murder: it takes away the victim s autonomy, it prevents the victim from years of life it was due, and the effects of others who had some relation to the victim (6. Glover, CC2006, p. 0110). Casting aside religious teachings because of the variety of religions, Glover focuses on these three objections. Glover claims that a fetus has no real autonomy of its own, thus can not be afforded its own rights and that even if the fetus did have rights, the rights and autonomy of the mother supercede the rights of the fetus (7. Glover, CC2006, p. 0113). In this way, the second reason also falls by the leeway because years of life due to the mother if her life was threatened by the pregnancy or the years she has to invest in raising an unwanted child is usurped by the birth of the fetus. And finally, though not explicitly mentioned, the only other person that a fetus has any relation or interaction with is the mother, thus if the mother wants the fetus aborted, the moral implications that arise reside solely with the mother. It is in this way that Glover returns to his original assertion that to deny women the right to control what happens in their bodies is wrong, but cautions that a fetus is a human right at conception, so ending the life of the fetus is equal to ending the life of any human, yet the rights afforded to women trump all of this and whatever moral pitfalls that a ... Is violence, resentment, anger or fear worth the risk taken when striking him or her. Whether your for or against using physical punishment in child development, as a parent, you will someday have to face this issue. Many parents are taught this method in their childhood, and are not aware of any other way. Often originating from religion, physical or corporal punishment is seen as an important ingredient in child rearing. This tool is used to accomplish total authority by the parent and to receive total submission from the child. Teaching total authority by the parent, most Conservative Protestants use corporal punishment today as their forefathers did. In Spare the Child, Philip Greven points out, Modern forms of Christian Fundamentalism share the same obsessions with obedience to authority characteristic of earlier modes of Evangelical Protestantism, and the same authoritarian streak evident among seventeenth and eighteenth century Anglo American Evangelicals is discernible today, for precisely the same reasons: the coercion of children through painful punishments in order to teach obedience to divine and parental authority (198). The idea many years ago is obvious, society felt that physical punishment was necessary for obedience. With study and research over time, successful child rearing has changed to produce better results. Dr. Benjamin Spock adds, In the olden days, most children were spanked, on the assumption that this was necessary to make them behave. In the twentieth century, as parents and professionals have studied children here and in other countries, they have come to realize that children can be well behaved, cooperative, and polite without ever having been punished physically (437). Realizing the impact this old fashioned method can have on a child, society is changing their views on how we should discipline. We are moving away from intimidation and pain tactics to more effective, positive methods. EFFECTS / ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is critical for self disclosure precautions, frequency in practice, potential risks, and potential advantages to be reconciled through a research integrated framework considerate of paramount ethical and clinical considerations. An attempt to do so will be made through first overviewing self disclosure ethical and clinical principles identified in the scholarly literature. These principles will then be synthesized into a larger discussion in which there will be identification of which theoretical and conceptual positions are most supported by admittedly limited empirical research and will therefore be discussed in their implications/application to various practice scenarios. In so doing, the discussion first addresses the more conservative subject of whether or not to disclose and then progresses into discussing what can or should be disclosed to which clients under what clinical circumstances and contexts (Audet, 2011). Andromache In EuripidesTiger At The Gates Andromache vengefully curses Helen, calling her an evil incarnate, a curse on both barbarians and Greeks and one whose beautiful eyes brought ugly destruction to the noble fields of Phrygia (Euripides. The word Andromache stems from бјЂОЅО®ПЃ,man, and ОјО¬П‡ОїОјО±О№, to battle or dispute (Liddell). Her characteristics and actions in Tiger at the Gates appropriately reflect the apparent meaning of her name: one who fights or disputes with a man. In the beginning of the play, pro war and anti war sides are swiftly drawn in Troy, with the old men rallying for war and women calling for peace. Andromache is quick to establish her position, along with Hecuba, against war and against the men. Although she does not lead the anti war argument (it is Hector and Hecuba who do so), she calmly disputes with Priam in a logical manner, albeit sometimes snarky manner. She acknowledges Priam s fondness for women and so, asks him to listen to what they have to say. She follows this by judiciously asking how their country will be made stronger by sending the vigorous and brave men of Troy to their deaths (Giradoux 21 22). The three forces shaping human personality are the id, the ego, and the superego. Most of the interaction between the three occurs on the unconscious level, especially processes of the id and the superego (Seligman). The id, known as the pleasure principle, demands immediate gratification of desires. Infants are controlled solely by the id, and thus act whenever they feel any lack of their wants. To counteract the id is an internalization of societal demands in the superego. The superego strives to direct actions toward morality and socially acceptable actions. The superego corresponds to the everyday conscience that tells us when we are doing something bad. The tension between the id and superego is mediated by the ego, or the reality principle. However, strangely the biotechnology industry is under the supervision of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI). As for the agriculture industry, the relevant ministry is the Ministry of Agriculture, while the Ministry of Health is responsible for medical practices and food products. Freire later goes on to symbolize students as empty receptacles awaiting teachers to dump their knowledge freely to fill the empty spaces. Students lose their ability to become cogitative thinkers as they memorize lectures, never speak their voice or dissent to teachers, and give all of their freedom to their professors.
