My Life In My Senior Year Of High School
One event that was lifechanging for me was my senior year of high school I decided to be a part of
the Every 15 Minutes Program. This was a two day program that included juniors and seniors to
help prevent their peers from drinking and driving on the night of Prom. On the first day of this
program, every fifteen minutes that passed on the clock, the intercom would come on throughout
the entire school to announce that someone had died . This announcement would start with an
introduction that read, Every fifteen minutes someone dies due to a drinking and drivingaccident
and then they would say the name of the individual who has just died. After this took place, the
grim reaper would go into the classroom, in which the student who had died , and he would state
a beautiful introduction of that individual. The student would then put on a black and white mask
and go into a classroom and hide out there for the rest of the school day. In the afternoon of the
first day, the students who were apart of the Every Fifteen Minutes Program, including myself,
reenacted the accident for the juniors and seniors down at the football field. Before everyone
came out to watch the reenactment, the three other students involved in the car accident and
myself had to put fake, sticky, red blood on our faces, hands, and arms to make it look like we
were actually hurt and bleeding from the car accident. Then the four of us had to get into a
wrecked, crushed up car that the school brought in from

Requirement 3: According to FASB Codification 605 50 25 4, if the amount of future rebates or
refunds can be reasonably and reliably estimated, the expected redemption rate should be taken into
account when calculating the cost of sales incentives. Otherwise, a liability (or deferred revenue)
should be recognized for the maximum potential amount of the refund or rebate. In this case, CCPC
estimates that customers will redeem approximately 2 percent of the detergent coupons. We analyze
the dollar amount of the effect of the coupons in the following two scenarios:
| If there is sufficient evidence to support the 2% expected redemption rate| If there is NOT
sufficient evidence to support the 2% expected redemption rate| Accrual of the coupons| Coupons to
be redeemed=total coupons*expected redemption rate: 500,000*2%=10,000Total discounts=

Requirement 4: FASB Codification 605 50 25 4 indicates that a vendor s ability to make a
reasonable and reliable estimate of future rebates or refunds may be impaired by the following
factors:
a. Relatively long periods in which a particular rebate or refund may be claimed.
b. The absence of historical experience with similar types of sales incentive programs

Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, By J. K.
As Helen Keller once said, Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the
light. Friendship is the kindling to the fire of happiness, without it your happiness may diminish. In
the novel, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban authored by J.K. Rowling, the protagonist
Harry Potter, has a very close friend named Ron Weasly. Together, they exhibit the true meaning of
rapport. One case of their association is when, they had their official introductory in their first year
attending, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Since then, both of them have stuck
together through thick and thin and never leave each other s side. Through teamwork and
cooperation they have overcome many unimaginable trials. For example,

The Republic Of Angol The Popular Movement For The...
Introduction The Republic of Angola is a country located in the south western part of Africa.
Angola is north of Namibia, south of Democratic Republic of the Congo, and west of Zambia.
Before it gained independence in 1975, Angola was a colony under Portugal s rule. After Angola
s independence, the country fell into a civil war that lasted for 27 years. There were two major
forces in the civil war: the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and the
Total Independence of Angola (UNITA). Even though Angola is still recovering from the war,
its real GDP has been growing ever since the end of the civil war. Economy Key Terms: GDP
stands for gross domestic product, and it is the value of all goods and services produced inside the
country. It is calculated by adding government spending, household consumption, investments and
savings, exports, and subtracting imports. PPP stands for purchasing power parity, and it is the
adjustments made to the GDP figures so that the same amount of money would be able to buy the
same basket of goods anywhere in the world. GDP per capita is dividing the GDP by the
population and getting an estimate of how much money the average person makes annually in the
country. Expansion is increasing GDP in 2 consecutive quarters. Recession is decreasing GDP in 2
consecutive quarters. Angola s GDP composition: Most of Angola s GDP is household
consumption. Second biggest is government spending due to money spent on reconstruction after

The Importance Of Hypatia For The Development Of Western...
Hypatia of Alexandria is a relevant example of the way in which men fear powerful and
intelligent women due to their insecurity of losing power. Although the way in which she was
brought down is one of the most extreme cases, it resembles much of what continues to go on in
Western Civilization. There are both consistencies and inconsistencies between the sources,
lecture, and the textbook. The inconsistencies most likely attribute to this aforementioned male
insecurity. The Importance of Hypatia for the Development of Western Civilization Much like
Hypatia, it is common to see women s accomplishments downplayed and criticized across all of
history. With another wave of the feminist movement we have seen in the last few years,
Hollywood has decided to do a bit of retelling to set the story straight of a few major events, these
specifically focus on The United States. For example, the movie Hidden Figures (2016), directed
by Theodore Melfi, speaks about black women working in NASA in the 1960s and how their
contributions did much for the success of the program. Another is the documentary Dolores (2017),
directed by Peter Bratt, that was based on the life of Dolores Huerta, a civil rights activist that
fought alongside Caesar Chaves, yet received none of the credit for all her accomplishments in
American History textbooks. Both these films shed light on women that were overlooked in history
due to them not conforming to what society thought a woman should be. For Hypatia, this

How Did Shakespeare Influence The American Theatre
There are lots of important things that were created in the Renaissance. Drama was one of the
most impressive inventions that they improved. One of the theaters that they had was the Globe
Theater. Even though the Globe Theater was destined for failure, it became successful due to
Shakespeare and the support of the Royal Monarch. Before understanding Shakespeare and his
impact on the Globe you have to know a little bit of information on plays and prediction in the
Renaissance time period. The plays before Shakespeare connected more to a religious point of view
and the morals were more simple(Currie,109). Playwrights were based off of morals for the writing
in the books, just like how to day we have movies based off books. The only difference is that the
plays were played of of religious books. An example of one of their most common morals Stephen
Currie writes in a book, One person is example for everyone . There was two theaters and 160,000...

Baby Shakespeare was born in Stratford upon Avon(Brandenberg,12). During his years in school,
he studied Latin, Greek, and any other subject that would help him in his

have some sort of career in writing, and without the background he wouldn t have be able to help

had been married for around 2 years when Shakespeare started acting(Frey,342). When he started,
he worked for a play company writing and acting he was in his early 20 s(Frey,342). Without the

Container Cheating
Container gardening is a style of small space gardening in which vegetables and flowers are
planted in containers instead of directly in the ground. One reason container gardening has become
so popular in recent years is that the containers can be moved around to areas where a person might
not normally think of planting a vegetable garden. Patios, stoops, sidewalks and even along
driveways are some of the more typical places that a gardener might grow container vegetables.
While you can use just about any style of container for growing vegetables, the container must have
drainage holes and be large enough to support the plant. But, exactly what IS the right size?

It could be that hedge to hedge green carpet. How about bordering it all around with flowers, or
starting a few plants of dark ivy or myrtle right now? Get a little groundcover going and you can
in time have ribbons or drifts or large patches of dark green contrast to grass, perhaps interplanted
with bright small flowers, to add variety to the wanted but look alike lawns. Leave bumps, hills,
hollows, ridges, rocks and stumps. Too often, the builder beats the owner to it and levels out the
ground. Natural irregularities add interest and make a piece of ground more individual, and rocks
and stumps can be the beginnings of rock garden flower and evergreen plantings or backdrops for
flowering vines. Dooryard Gardens We could have more dooryard gardens. Instead of having
shrubs right at the house front, put them about 10 feet in front of the house and use the space
between for a small flower garden. This makes a colorful spot right near the front door.
Evergreens planted thickly enough can make a screen from the street and some cement or brick
or flagstone inside the area can provide sitting room; now you have a flowery outdoor extension
of the living room. Or set out a looser hedge planting, and let the bright posies behind it be
invitingly visible from the street. Instead of a hedge, on a small piece of ground, have a low
fence as the boundary for your front dooryard flower garden. What became of the old fashioned
mixed flower border? It suits many older homes. Old fashioned flowers have great appeal for
many people; you can fit it along a driveway or on a backyard boundary line. Plant small iris
plants there now. They ll bloom in a few days. Have a peony plant or two, and some sweet
Williams for early June. Include foxgloves and canterbury bells, both June highlights, both easily

Charlotte From Now, Voyager Directed By Irving Rapper
Imagine you live in a mansion, your own butler, and maid, everything you could dream of. Would
you be happy? I most certainly would be. There is only one issue with the house, your mother is
controlling and does not want you to be yourself. She decides what you do, wear, say. What about
now? You still happy living there? Charlotte from Now, Voyager directed by Irving Rapper is not
happy with her house because of her mother, Mrs. Vale. The mansion that Charlotte and Mrs. Vale
live in is not only not home like, but also strict and demanding. The house has an important
significance to the film.
During the film, there is not one thing out of place in the house. One of the first lines in the film is

Vale decided what happens in her house. When Charlotte is taking DoctorJaquith around the
house, they walk up the stairs and she tells him the stairs squeak because when she was 17, she
came home late and her mother noticed from the stairs and since then she will not fix the stairs
so she knows when Charlotte tries to come home late or leaves. This shows Mrs. Vale is strict
and would like to be able to hear her child at night if she tries to leave or come home late. Once
Charlotte and the Doctor get into her room, she starts to talk to him about her mother and tells
him a story about when they were on a ship and she was engaged to the sailor and her mother
tries to make her feel ugly by saying why you not wearing your glasses? You will never get
another pair of eyes. Making her put her glasses on symbolizes that if you have glasses on, you
are ugly and worthless which is what she is trying to get Charlotte to feel. After she goes away to
get help and return from the cruise, Charlotte goes upstairs to her mother s room and Mrs. Vale
tells her that she invited people over and tells her I ll wear my white lace gown. Wear your black
and white foulard. Charlotte tries to tell her mother she lost over twenty five pounds and it will
not fit her but her mother tells her that she has had Miss Till here and took it in. She is trying to
tell Charlotte that she decides what she wears and she has no say in it but Charlotte goes behind
her mother s back and wears what she wants. When Charlotte tries to talk to her mother about
independence and how she has never had any with her, her mother tells her to buy what you
want, to wear what you choose, I make the decisions here, Charlotte. Then tells her that she
should wear her glasses so it s less of a shock to people and because of her illness she lost her hair
and she is letting it grow out as quick as she can. This is Mrs. Vale deciding what Charlotte does

Quality Of Life As A Good Life
Quality of life (QOL) means a good life and we believe that a good life is the same as living a
life with a high quality. This may seem evident, but it is necessary to make such a simple
clarification, because medical jargon often uses very narrow concepts of the quality of life (for
example, side effect profiles). Medical advertisements often depict the quality of life as one
factor among many, on a par with other improvements that a certain medical product promises. In
this work, the quality of life belongs on the highest, most common level of life. All great religions
and philosophies have a notion of a good life ranging from saying that a good life is attained by
practical codes of conduct to requests to engage in a certain positive... Show more content on

The objective quality of life reveals itself in a person s ability to adapt to the values of a culture
and tells us little about that person s life. Examples may be social status or the status symbols
one should have to be a good member of that culture. (Objective is used here in the sense of
nonsubjective or objective facts. Nonsubjective is concerned with the external and easily
established conditions of life that many observers can rate identically.) The notion of a good
life can be observed from subjective to the objective, where this spectrum incorporates a number
of existing quality of life theories. We call this spectrum the integrative quality of life (IQOL)
theory and discuss the following aspects in this paper: well being, satisfaction with life,
happiness, meaning in life, the biological information system ( balance ), realizing life potential,
fulfillment of needs, and objective factors. Well Being: The most natural aspect of the
subjective quality of life is well being. The quality of life is seen here in terms of an assessment
of one s own quality of life. When we meet other people, we always say, How are you? or How s
life? We are thus asking that person to give us an evaluation of their quality of life. Satisfaction
with Life: When people are asked whether they are satisfied with life, they often say that
something or other is amiss. People are usually less satisfied with life than their state of well being

What Is The Irish Potato Famine
The Irish potato famine and The Syria migration crisis.
In this essay I will compare the Irish Potato famine with the current migration crisis that is
happening in Syria. I will demonstrate how this two can relate to each other by comparing the
similarities in their history to see what lead them to this dilemma and how they did/can find a
solution to the terrible problem.
We are going to analyze the government of Ireland between the years of 1840 1850. The
government in the winter of 1846 allowed the massive exportation of grain leaving the country
with an absence of food. After that a group called the The society of friend opened the soup
kitchens which were places as the name says served soup to the poor or the most in need in that ...

Before the famine Ireland was made part of the United Kingdom, Anti catholic movements date
back to the year 1695, when the British started to impose laws designated to punish the Irish who
supported the catholic king James II, in his battle to get the British throne he went into battle with
his catholic army but lost at the hands of the protestant directed by William of Orange in the year
of 1690 , in consequence of this battle the resulting penal Laws against Irish Catholics striped them
from their rights , such as to serve in the British army , hold any government post , buy land they
couldn t even practice their religion. The Catholic Church was outlawed.
In the beginning only ten percent of protestant own land in Ireland, but with this new laws by the
end of 1778 they have owned about ninety percent of land. One thing a catholic person could do to
not lose his land was to convert to Protestantism.

various Muslim groups and sects, their fighting is mostly about how to rule the country and who

The German National Soccer Team Essay
Upon first thought, traditions can provide a sense of comfort and can therefore be hard to break.
They are something individuals can fall back on in times of distress and often offer a sense of
community. When individuals go against these traditions, however, there are frequently
consequences due to cultural norms. For a fictional character like Victor Frankenstein, his
oppositions come from his own conscience and originates after attempting to play god by creating a
murderous monster, something society would deem inexcusable. On the contrary, Luther the
Reformer went against numerous traditions of the catholic church, the biggest organized religious
group of his time. He was excommunicated from the church who opposed his beliefs, but as a
result, he formed a new religion with millions of followers today. Erik Erikson, and similarly, the
German national soccer team, were highly criticized by their respected communities after
embracing a new path. Throughout all these examples, each case has produced opposition due to
cultural norms. Although the consequences of breaking tradition can be either good or bad, one
thing is for certain, the act of breaking tradition is always going to be met with opposition, whether
it be internal or societal.
Through the act of breaking tradition, the fictional character Frankenstein faced rather extreme
consequences from his actions. Victor Frankenstein was driven by his desire to go above and
beyond the limits of the scientific discovery of

Albert Camus Death
The thematics of death are almost infinite. And with many possibilities there is no surprise that
death can play an important role into the theme of a book. One case of this is shown in Albert
Camus s The Stranger where Meursault, the narrator of the book, dies. When approaching his
execution he understands that no one person has significant worth. That shows a philosophical
view/theme that no other book has shown as clearly before it.
Throughout the book you can sense the buildup to Camus central message. This came to a point
when Meursault is killed. He seemed indifferent to any situation he was in, even after learning his
neighbor was beating his mistress. He still agreed to be friends because he doesn t really care for
the woman, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Camus argues that there is only one thing certain in life and that is death. Meursault doesn t fully
understand this until right before he is about to be guillotined. He realizes that he has no meaning
and is not special. He will be born then die just like everyone else.
As you uncover his peculiarities, you may be confused on why the writer would make him this
way but it is all cleared up when he is killed. Meursault is being executed for a crime he did for
no reason, however; he seems unworried by his situation even after a sad conversation with
Marie in the prison cell. Before he is killed he gives a very important quote that shows the
philosophy the books wants to portray, for everything to be consummated, for me to feel less
alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and
that they greet me with cries of hate . This quote shows above all else that humans are ultimately
responsible for their acts whether good or bad.
Death plays many roles in books it is often used to develop major themes. This is especially the
case in Albert Camus s book, The Stranger . Meursault s death is a vital aspect to show the book s
theme. Without the message his death brings the story would not be the

In an Essay Explain What Insights Are Offered Through an...
Identity is about perception, the way someone sees themselves and their surroundings, the set of
rules that they follow, their morals, the decisions they make, the way they look and the way they
think. This is shaped by their location and experiences, as well as by other humans. Identity is
represented in many ways through poetry, music, books, paintings and other mediums. Bruce
Dawe represents the identity of two very different types of people in his poems Homo
Suburbiensis and Drifters where he represents the identity of his subjects through more of a
specific description of a certain set of people and not any person in particular in an informative

Similarly, Dawe s poem Homo Suburbiensis is aimed to present a suburban man as a species of
human, rather than an individual. This is done through the latinised title, sounding like a
scientific name for an animal, rather than a human being. The informative tone is also present in
this poem as it is in the previous poem. As we look through a proverbial magnifying glass into
the life of the man, the poem examines even the smallest of details during those few seconds the
man spends in his garden as we observe him. We learn that he is in a vegetable patch and the line
all the things he takes down with him there suggests more than garden tools, but also his
thoughts, specifically his problems and worries, which may be depicted as a weight one may be
carrying. This suggests to us that his vegetable patch is a sanctuary, his own personal private
place of relaxation where he can sink into his own mind and think things over. The second stanza
uses sensory imagery to let the reader put himself in the place of the man in the garden, no longer
simply observing him, which helps the reader develop a more accurate picture of exactly the state
of mind the man may be in during his time in his garden. The clatter of a dish in a sink that could
be his suggests that he is married, which could imply children, making his garden all the more an
escape,

How Are Humans Are Inherently Wrong
Modern humans come from a long history of death, scandal, and tragedy, and it seems all we
remember as a race are those things. For instance, if asked to recall a significant world event
occurring in the past century, most people would cite events such as wars, genocides, terrorist
attacks, and other such atrocities. To put that in perspective, imagine a non humanviewing the last
100 years of our planet from the outside. It would be hard to deny that we look the part of an
essentially immoral society that lives to destroy one another. Is that what we are, though? My
answer is no. I believe human existence is based on helping each other. I believe that through
subjectivity, it is possible find moral intent behind any action moral or immoral. Above all, I
believe, despite many existing examples pointing the other way, humans are, through evolution,
inherently moral. To preface, it is necessary to outline the basics of morality to better grasp exactly
what is meant by the phrase within my thesis statement: inherently moral. Understand, however,
that the nature of human moral code is not fully understood, and it is difficult to present any one
hypothesis without encountering a flaw in logic.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That much is fact. However, it is difficult to discern exactly why we have one. How are we able
to judge whether an action is right or wrong? What do we judge each action against? An action
must be based against something in order to be deemed right or wrong, so there must be some
kind of moral benchmark or criterion. Some might suggest this criterion is rooted in religion (i.e.,
the Ten Commandments, etc). However, since early humans did not have religion (or at least not a
discernible one), one must put aside all religious thoughts, and view the issue for what it truly is:

Analysis Of Diving Into The Wreck By Adrienne Rich
Is it possible for words on a page to become a painting in the mind? After plunging into Adrienne
Rich s Diving into the Wreck, it is apparent that words on a page can come to life in the mind of
the readers. Rich uses a vast amount of describing words, and a setting of a scuba diver to allow
readers the ability to acknowledge and understand the difficulties life may imply upon humankind.
Throughout the next few paragraphs, it is evident that certain elements of poems can become a
large factor in allowing the reader to get more out of a poem, rather than just words on a page. In
summary, Adrienne Rich gives the reader a depiction of a person dealing with one or even many
difficult intricacies in life through the symbolization of scuba divingin a large body of water (Mays,
2014, p.581). Whether that be national issues, personal relationships, the death of those close by,
or even more personal issues, the reader is able to relate with Rich s symbolization of a scuba
diver getting ready for an intense journey through a large, dark body of water. Scuba diving into a
shipwreckis an abstract way to relate the thoughts people bottle up inside their bodies into a larger,
more meaningful picture, which allows the reader to understand how issues weigh on the mind. In
addition, Rich doesn t just use simple words to create a symbolization, she precedes or follows
those words with meaningful adjectives which help to create a clearer appearance for the reader to
imagine. In the

What Really Happens in the End?
So in the end you can t even really regret your misfortunes because they led you somewhere,

Celie, who is from the South. She writes letters to God in which she tells about her life from
ages 14 to 44. In the letters she does not complain to God; She simply needs to talk to someone
she loves and trusts and someone who she feels loves her. Henrik Ibsen conveys an example of an

The Death Penalty And The Fourteenth Amendment
The death penalty to many people could be considered unconstitutional under the eighth and the
fourteenth amendment s. People fear nothing more than death itself because death is final.
Execution dates being carried out promptly with assigned dates after a fair trial would
discourage almost anyone from committing future crimes that are worthy of execution. We as a
society are based on the need for retribution and vengance. Making a wrongdoer pay the price
equivalent to the price the wrongdoer did. Sparsely carrying out executions prolongs the mental
and emotional suffering of the victim s family and friends. It cost taxpayers millions of dollars
per year, more than general population to house a death row inmates. Allowing death row
inmates to sit on death row for 25 plus years is a lugsury most dont deserve. With less than 10%
of all inmates being exonorated in the past 200 years of death penalties it is unclear why
executions are not more readily carried out.
Currently, the total number of inmates that have been executed in the US is 1,434. While the total
number of inmates currently on death row is 2,943, 55 of which are female inmates.
Our desire for retribution dates back as early as the 18th Century BC. We feel the need to see the
wrongdoer have consequences for their actions. To be punished and feel the pain that their victim
felt so they can also suffer. Some people love that idea that the person who commited a crime
suffers by whatever means necessary. Knowing

The Japanese Internment Movement
According to the Japanese internment background, after Pearl Harbor was bombed, Japanese
Americans were broken down into several categories based on how far the generation was
separated from Japanese citizenship. I disagree because the movement was wrong, they didn t

doctors or medicine to take care of the people s needs. Once the war was over many people were
released from the camp and did not have homes to return to because theirs were destroyed or taken

Analysis Of The Movie Exit The King
Exit the King by Eugene Ionesco directed by Trey Irby in presentation with the Blue Masque
was a complete production that felt well explored and executed. The play itself is a somewhat
dark look into the fall of a king, his kingdom and final hours of his life. This much darker subject
matter is balanced with comic relief provided by the guard, the maid and occasional banter of the
king s two wives. A well flushed out script that examines such a timeless struggle as the delicate
balance of life and death poses immense challenge for those involved. While this challenge
occasionally made itself known, the acting body as a whole did a fine job at overcoming these
hurdles. The role of Queen Marguerite, played by Laurel Edge, was one of the most complex
roles to wrestle with and Edge took many of bold stances that went helped to more fully develop
what could have been essentially a bitchy antagonist into a three dimensional being with solid
intention from start to finish. Marguerite s objective from the moment she steps on stage is
clearly to end the life of the king, or rather help him to the end of his life since no explicit murder
takes place. Marguerite stops at nothing to pursuethis through whether her obstacle is Queen
Marie or the King himself. Edge was well open and able to play off the many others in the scene at
a time though this was not always obvious. She also had the clearest expectations. Her choices in
actions often times had her sitting away separately avoiding

Role of the Quantity Surveyor
The Role of the Quantity Surveying Profession
The origins of the Quantity Surveyor (QS) profession can dated back during the 19th century
where from the earlier measurer , a specialist tradesman, who readied schedules for a building
project in which all of the construction materials and labour activities and were quantified. Based
on this information, competing builders could submit priced tenders. Because all tenders were
based on the same schedule of information, they could be easily compared to one another,
making it a much simpler way of being able to chose the best bid as it narrowed the variables
down (Powell, 1996). While the QS profession owes its origin to the measurer it was until the
1820s that as a profession the QS ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

these things that set this sector apart. This type of work for a QS is more method related than

together Bill of Quantities there is usually few items of large quantities. Skills of a QS in this
field in particular are that they must be conversant with the varying working rule agreements, day
work rates and other documents for example the civil engineering procedure published by the
institute of civil engineers. Since the 20century began the QS has had a role within the civil
engineering contractors. Pre and post contract services are provided to civil engineer client by a
QS also.
Heavy and Industrial Engineering
With this type of work a QS will be working on such projects that include steel plants, off shore
oil and gas rigs, nuclear processing, production facilities and power plants to name a few. With
the economic downturn affecting all sectors of business of late a huge emphasis on cost control
has been placed upon these industries which is where the role of a QS is defined. In this industry
sector it isn t unusual to be referred to as a cost engineer as opposed to a QS. In this sector there is

The Regulation Of Lgbt Orientation
It takes no compromise to give people their rights...it takes no money to respect the individual. It
takes no political deal to give people freedom. It takes no survey to remove repression (Milk). The
regulation of LGBT* discrimination in various environments varies by jurisdiction. Many states
have established rules that prohibit bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment, termination,
compensation and general harassment based on sexual orientation. However, very few of these
protections extend to cover sexual identity. The repercussions of these limited protections surfaced
from the very beginning in the form of discrimination, attacks and abuse of LGBT* citizens. In
fact, over half of US workers in today s labor force work in a state where it is perfectly legal to fire
someone or refuse them employment based on their gender or sexual orientation. Society likes to
pretend as though these violent attacks have lessened through the years, though the truth of the
matter is that, over the last ten years, though hate crimes in general have gone down, the percentage
of hate crimevictims targeted based on sexual orientation or gender is on the rise. Many incredible
activists have made monumental attempts at understanding the nature of these hate crimes and this
discrimination in modern America. However, even the most incredible scholars cannot completely

rhetorical question and appeals to the audacious emotions of the audience. Ram repeats have you

Examples Of Love In The Outsiders

reason you need concern yourself about is because I tell you to do so. Have them open wide and

of inadequacy has vanished. He no longer feels insecure about himself or ordering of his
crewmen. He also orders the men to move the ship closer to the island, giving Leggatt a chance to
escape and survive. The Chief Mate responds by saying, Do you mean, sir, in the dark amongst the
lot of all them islands and reefs and shoals? (45). Instead of hesitating or doubting, the Captain
responds calmly, saying that they must go to find the land breezes. This shows the Captain s
confidence in himself and his judgement. Although the crew is afraid, the Captain fearlessly leads

human resource information system (HRIS) can be defined as a system which lets you keep track

Advertisement Is Not A Recent Human Attempt
Advertisement is not a recent human attempt; it existed throughout the revolutions of humankind.
In ancient civilizations, stone carving, wall printing, and oral noticing were the most common
form of advertising. Egyptian Pharaohs used carved iron plates for public notices.
Archaeologists in Thebes, Egypt discovered a 3000 year old public advertisement that offered a
reward for runaway slave. Old Greeks employed wall paintings for theater play ads, and papyrus
sheets to advertise lost and found items. Romans in the first century A.D, used oral announcements
to publicize the arrival of caravan supplies. Also, according to archaeological discovery in
Pompeii, Italy, Romans employed written ads to promote property rentals (1). However,
advertisement as a profitable industry did not start till the influx of mass media like printing, radio,
and television emerged. By the invention of big plasma cable TVs equipped with child oriented
programs, and the Internet, commercial ads that target children grew ubiquitously unlimited.
Though some advertisements can be supportive, fast food advertisements that target children
should be prohibited as they cause unhealthy habit to children and induce parent child conflicts.
Foremost fast food advertisers employ several strategies to influence children. First fast food
advertisers use cartoon images embodied with brand to make their product more attractive to
children. For example, McDonalds in 1990 run a commercial ad of Fry Kids (2) to

Machiavelli is not only the Prince but is drawing a comparison of himself to God. He is the
source of the reader s lawgiving to others by implementing new modes and orders via the person
or people who follows his word. He also mentions that Moses had so great a teacher (23). The
teacher in this case would be Machiavelli. In chapter 26 it is mentioned that Moses greatness
came as a resolution to tragedy, those enslaved in Egypt (102). That can be compared to the
conflicts going in Italy during his time, and is Machiavelli compelling another to show greatness
if they follow his orders and fix the problem. The audience, if following his advice, is

Eating Disorders Are Serious Disorders
Eating disorders are serious disorders that have a negative impact on both the psychological and
the physiological well being of the afflicted (Welch, Ghader, Swenne, 2015). Studies concerning
eating disorders are showing more and more frequency in younger age groups and especially in
those who are athletes, diabetics, and obese adolescents (Martin Golden, 2014). This tells us that
symptoms of eating disorders can be caught and treated during adolescence. Today, many schools
have very little class time dedicated to educating students about healthy lifestyles. Little, to no
information is given about what eating disorders are or how to avoid the development of one. If
information is provided about the prevention of eating disorders, it is usually in the form of a
video or discussed briefly in a textbook. Schools are not doing enough in the fight against the
development of eating disorders. Many studies have shed some light on the issue of eating
disorders by conducting surveys and developing new programs to use in schools. The primary
prevention of eating and body image problems among young people, and in particular, adolescents,
is emerging as one of the most desirable achievements in contemporary health and nutrition(O Dea
J. , 2000). Primary prevention programs, and better education in general, for the prevention of
eating disorders and promotion of healthy lifestyles needs to be established in schools. The

central importance of positive psychology and recovery approached (Slade, 2010) and Preserving
the Person: The Ethical Imperative of Recovery Oriented Practices (Atterbury , 2014)and its impact
on practice. For both articles the dominant theme which runs through is recovery.
There is no exact meaning of recovery in mental health. Professional meaning of recovery
differentiate between clinical recovery, where there is no symptoms, and social recovery, where
one live on their own even if symptoms continue (Social Care Institute for Excellence 2007).
Recovery is the process of coming back to a normal state. Other meanings see the growth of
people controlling their own life and the taking of responsibility for one s own behaviour and well
being as the basis of recovery. (Anthony, 1993)

Herodotus Sparknotes
Herodotus, consider as the father of history, was born in the ancient Halicarnassus, current Turkey,
and lived between 485 and 425 BC, about 150 years previous to the creation of the Library of
Alexandria. Moreover, due to Persian rule over greece, Herodotus fled to Samos resulting from his
conflicts with the local government and will not return until 450 BC, when he participated part in
the campaign to defeat Lygdamis, to once again leave the city after the completion of the campaign.

Quasi Contracts
INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS:
Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which
have little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover
money paid by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the
defendant a sum of money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he
defendant to restore it. But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the
extended meaning borne by the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual
liability serves only to emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract.
This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the
purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED IN FACT CONTRACT:
The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged
by the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be
observed that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym
for jus naturale . Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring
benefits unjustly obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared
in Weston v. Downes, I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I
am not stretching, lest I should endanger it thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases
falling within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy.
Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust
benefit was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century,
the form of the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield s views
were challenged. According to Lord SUMNER in Sinclair v. Brougham in 1914 the various actions
grouped under the title of quasi contract were clearly not tortious; if the new antithesis of the
common law were inevitable

A Good Man Is Hard To Find Literary Analysis
A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O Conner shows the battle of society vs. class. The
grandmother in A Good Man is hard to find gives great importance to being a lady, and her ideas
about what that means reflect an old fashioned, Southern mindset. She uses the n word and
longs for the good old days when kids were polite, people were trustworthy. All of this leads her
to associate being good with coming from a respectable family and behaving like a member of
her social class; those who don t are outsiders. All of this is put to the test when she meets The
Misfit. Society vs. Class shows that everyone is truly equal and at the end of the day social class
doesn t make a difference. O Conner shows this through her use of Tone and Characterization
throughout the story. The grandmother is representative of godliness and Christianity which O
Connor apparently believed to be more prevalent in the 1950 s down south. the grandmother had
on a navy blue straw sailor hat with a bunch of white violets on the brim and a navy blue dress
with a small white dot in the print. Her collar and cuffs were white organdy trimmed with lace, and
at her neckline she had pinned a purple spray of cloth violets... Show more content on

Historical Development of Law Enforcement Essays
Since 27 B.C. law enforcement has been used by humans as a means to defend property and keep
peace. Law enforcement has been changing ever since it was created. It will keep changing for the
greater good of the community as long is there is a continual need for law enforcement.
According to REAL POLICE. (N.D.) Para 5, the first organized police force was created by the
great nephew of Julius Caesar, Gaius Octavius in 27 B.C. These men were called Vigiles. The
Vigiles were armed with wooden clubs and small swords. They were formed to perform two
duties, fight fires in the city and arrest law breakers. The prefect of the Vigiles became a powerful
man. He had the ability to judge and sentence lawbreakers.

New York used bells to communicate with other officers out of voice range. There were ten
different bell codes used by the New York police. Also, New York replaced drafted citizens with

Research by Schmalleger (2005) shows that in 1829, the world s first modern police force was
formed. Sir Robert Peel selected 1,000 men to wear a uniform and patrol the streets. These
uniformed men were called Bobbies. The new police were founded on two principles, one, belief
that it was possible to discourage crime, and two, practice of preventive patrol. To this day, Bobbies
still patrol the streets of England.
Law enforcement was almost non existent in the American West during the late 1800 s and early
1900 s. Outlaws ruled the land with few worries about law enforcement. Only the bravest men
would attempt to police the west. Some of these brave men were self appointed law men, men like
Charles Lynch, a former Virginia farmer, and Wyatt Earp. These brave men were called Vigilantes
and they tracked down criminals in the west. With out them the west would have been to violent for
the expansion of the country. Schmalleger (2005).
Women began involvement with police work in 1845. They were assigned as matrons in the

Research Paper On The Mandela Effect
The Mandela Effect is a collective misremembering of a fact or event. This phenomenon originated
in 2010 when Fiona Broome, an author, researcher, and paranormal consultant, explained online
that she thought Nelson Mandela had died while he was in prison. To her surprise many other
people had the same exact memory as her. Some people even remember learning about his death in
school. Other famous examples of the Mandela Effect are the misremembering of famous lines
from movies, the spelling of Bernstein bears and Looney Tunes, and whether Curious George has a
tail. There are many theories that try to explain this phenomenon. They are anything from what the
brain wants to see to parallel universes to false memory syndrome. The Mandela Effect... Show

quantum tunneling. This is a two way communication pathway where Qbits enter other dimensions

The crowd loved every second of it, and there was never a dull moment. Despite the match ending
with some interference by Roode and Edwards, allowing Aries to roll Richards up for the win, I
was not disappointed as they already delivered by that point. Afterwards, Aries got on the

Why Is Balance Control Important
How Important Is Ankle Proprioception for Balance Control in Sport Performance and Injury
Abstract
Balance control improvement is one of the most important goals in sports and exercise. Better
balance is strongly positively associated with enhanced athletic performance and negatively
associated with lower limb sports injuries. Proprioception plays an essential role in balance control,
and ankle proprioception is arguably the most important. This paper reviews ankle proprioception
and explores possible links with balance control, specifically in a sport context. Central processing
of ankle proprioceptive information, along with other sensory information, enables integration for
balance control. Care must be taken when assessing ankle proprioception to ensure that the method
used has ecologically valid and allows proprioceptive signals to be integrated in the central nervous
system and reflects the signal noise nature of central processing. Ankle proprioceptive intervention
concepts driven by the central processing theory are further proposed and discussed for the
improvement of balance control in sport.

The relationship between poor balance control and heightened injury risk was identified 30 years
ago. In 1984 Tropp et al. (17) found ankle injuries were almost 4 times more prevalent in soccer
player with poor balance comparison to those with normal balance ability. Similarly, Watson (18)
found hurdling athletes and Gaelic football plays with poor balance had nearly twice as many
ankle injuries relative to their counterparts with normal balance. In addition, balance ability was
found to be significantly associated with ankle injury risk in both younger male and female
basketball players (19). A recent systematic review summarized the available evidence and
suggested that poorer balance ability is an intrinsic factor associated with increased ankle injury risk

Reverend Dimmesdale In The Scarlett Letter
When people read a story, they most likely can relate to what happens to the main characters with
situations they went through or have heard of. If they cannot relate to what happens, they at least
know the problem that the character is struggling with or is trying to overcome. In life to get past
a problem, people might have to change or develop to figure out a solution. In the book, The
Scarlet Letter, a woman named Hester Prynnegoes against her husband, Roger Chillingworth, and
commits a sin that is forbidden in this community. Reverend Dimmesdale is the man who was a
part of this sin, but he does not want to confess. The result of her sin was her daughter, Pearl, who
is known around town as the devil child. For violating the law of adultery,... Show more content on

Hester has changed in so many different ways. First, Hester starts the story looking very
ladylike, but as the story progresses she becomes to look manly. Some of the townspeople
believed she had cut her hair off because she started always having it up. She starts to look
ladylike again when she is in the forest with Dimmesdale. Hester said she had to stay in Boston
to face what she had done but being with Dimmesdale changed her mind. She thought
Dimmesdale and her could move away from all of their sin `and start fresh. Another reason why
Hester wanted to move away with Dimmesdale is so Pearl can have a father figure in her life. In
vast London or, surely, in Germany...thou wouldst be beyond his power and knowledge
(Hawthorne 218). Another way Hester grows is her choice of going with the Black Man. Hester
would have gone with the Black Man to get away from all her troubles. Since they did not take
Pearl away from her, Hester stayed and Pearl changed her view on life. Had they taken her from
me, I would have willingly have gone with thee into the forest (Hawthorne 129). One of the
changes that occur since she has gotten the Scarlet Letter is her view of people. She understands
and has the knowledge of other s sins but the downfall is she loses faith. The last change she
goes through is her needing to wear the Scarlet Letter. Townspeople say she may, she does take it
off privately in the forest (Johnson 133). At first, Hester believes she must wear the Scarlet
Letter and if it gains another meaning or just falls off then it is okay not to wear it. Eventually,
the forest is a place where she feels safe and away from the rules of the community so she feels it
is okay to be able to take it off. There are many more changes or growths that Hester has went
through but can people really relate to

THE PUBLIC IS UNEDUCATED
Like we learned above, insurance jargon is not easy to understand, the average person is
supposed to be expected to apply and choose a plan from their home computer. While this sounds
convenient, it is also unrealistic and leads to a frustrating experience. While on yelp.com I came
across the reviews page for Covered CA, out of 192 reviews 174 them were one star, I started to go
threw these reviews and most of them were either discussing their frustrations with the website
incompetence, upset about the cost, or just plain do not understand the process or benefits they
are paying for.
The steps to complete an application are as follows:
1. Set up an account online
2. Enter personal, household, and income information
3. Submit documents requested (proof of income, citizenship, etc.)
4. Choose a level of coverage
(This is where it can become extra tricky, they have to decipher what is meant by deductible, co pay,
co insurance, maximum out of pocket expense, HMO vs PPO etc.)
5. Choose the actual insurance company
(Do they all cover the same thing, what doctors do they offer, why is this company cheaper than
that one?)

identifying and reducing defects and inefficiencies within their existing business processes. The
quality management system is a project oriented system that drives cost savings and increases firm

I think Kozlowski was very clever on how he represented himself and would only tell the board
what they needed to know, making the board believing that without him the company would fail.
Complacency and ignorance come to mind; I think it took someone from the outside to really bring
it to attention and events such as the birthday party in Sardinia and countless authentic art pieces
that were being shipped to the headquarters for personal usage.
WayerskiLMGT7019 8 3 5 The party in Sardinia was a birthday celebration for Kozlowski s wife.
The event was $2 million dollars and Kozlowski wrote off $1 million as a stockholders event and
even sent out a company memo to justify the expenditure (Wilson 2008). I feel that is an act of
creative accounting; why would a CEO, Kozlowski pay for a company event that wasn t non
charitable out of his own pocket? He knew what he could absorb without being questioned. I also
think with the loans that it became to accessible and it became an order of business. It was done
so often and the company had so much revenue that Kozlowski thought he could just absorb it
through company records. The complaint against Kozlowski from Tyco all its legal language came
across to me that he was trying to find ways not to pay taxes on personal items from job relocation
to purchasing art (www.FINDLAW.com 2012).

The Effects Of Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery in today s medical world
Plastic surgery can be defined as the specialty in the medical field that involves the restoration,
reconstruction, or alteration of the human body. Plastic surgery can be separated into two groups:
reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. The thesis of this essay is to examine these two types
of surgery and to examine the effect that it has on today s medical world, and what causes people
to seek plastic surgery. Reconstructive surgery includes craniofacial surgery, hand surgery,
microsurgery, and the treatment of burns (Garg, 2013). Reconstructive plastic surgery is done to

2009). Interior motivators consist of the yearning to reduce the unpleasant emotional state of
depression, embarrassment or social anxiety; the wish to modify a specific detested feature; the
longing for a more youthful, strong look that indicates fertility and the hope to generate a strong,
influential appearance that will simplify career progression (Wolfgang et al. 2009).
In the present, a cumulative number of cosmetic surgery procedures are done in doctors agencies
and separate clinical centers and more procedures are being carried out simultaneously (Wolfgang et
al. 2009). This increases the risk of rare but potentially fatal infections and anesthetic reactions.
Furthermore, some consultants have not finished the full five years of residency training essential
for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, but validly complete procedures, for
which they might be incompetently trained, purely to supplement their income (Wolfgang et al.
2009).
Complications in plastic surgery do happen. Complications of cosmetic surgery are infrequent, but
include contamination, haemorrhage, fluid and salt disproportion, and hypersensitive and
anesthetic reactions which are occasionally lethal (Chambers, 2009). This alone is a very lucrative
business for doctor s and surgeons, because they have to fix the mistakes that they make, or others
has to fix said mistake.
Furthermore, cosmetic surgery s popularity

  • 2. My Life In My Senior Year Of High School One event that was lifechanging for me was my senior year of high school I decided to be a part of the Every 15 Minutes Program. This was a two day program that included juniors and seniors to help prevent their peers from drinking and driving on the night of Prom. On the first day of this program, every fifteen minutes that passed on the clock, the intercom would come on throughout the entire school to announce that someone had died . This announcement would start with an introduction that read, Every fifteen minutes someone dies due to a drinking and drivingaccident and then they would say the name of the individual who has just died. After this took place, the grim reaper would go into the classroom, in which the student who had died , and he would state a beautiful introduction of that individual. The student would then put on a black and white mask and go into a classroom and hide out there for the rest of the school day. In the afternoon of the first day, the students who were apart of the Every Fifteen Minutes Program, including myself, reenacted the accident for the juniors and seniors down at the football field. Before everyone came out to watch the reenactment, the three other students involved in the car accident and myself had to put fake, sticky, red blood on our faces, hands, and arms to make it look like we were actually hurt and bleeding from the car accident. Then the four of us had to get into a wrecked, crushed up car that the school brought in from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Requirement 3: According to FASB Codification 605 50 25 4, if the amount of future rebates or refunds can be reasonably and reliably estimated, the expected redemption rate should be taken into account when calculating the cost of sales incentives. Otherwise, a liability (or deferred revenue) should be recognized for the maximum potential amount of the refund or rebate. In this case, CCPC estimates that customers will redeem approximately 2 percent of the detergent coupons. We analyze the dollar amount of the effect of the coupons in the following two scenarios: | If there is sufficient evidence to support the 2% expected redemption rate| If there is NOT sufficient evidence to support the 2% expected redemption rate| Accrual of the coupons| Coupons to be redeemed=total coupons*expected redemption rate: 500,000*2%=10,000Total discounts= expected redeemed coupons*per coupon discount: 10,000*2=$20,000| Maximum potential of refunds=total coupons*per coupon discount: 500,000*2=$1,000,000| Requirement 4: FASB Codification 605 50 25 4 indicates that a vendor s ability to make a reasonable and reliable estimate of future rebates or refunds may be impaired by the following factors: a. • 5. After Angola s independence, the country fell into a civil war that lasted for 27 years. There were two major forces in the civil war: the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA) and the Total Independence of Angola (UNITA). Even though Angola is still recovering from the war, its real GDP has been growing ever since the end of the civil war. Economy Key Terms: GDP stands for gross domestic product, and it is the value of all goods and services produced inside the country. It is calculated by adding government spending, household consumption, investments and savings, exports, and subtracting imports. PPP stands for purchasing power parity, and it is the adjustments made to the GDP figures so that the same amount of money would be able to buy the same basket of goods anywhere in the world. GDP per capita is dividing the GDP by the population and getting an estimate of how much money the average person makes annually in the country. Expansion is increasing GDP in 2 consecutive quarters. Recession is decreasing GDP in 2 consecutive quarters. Angola s GDP composition: Most of Angola s GDP is household consumption. • 8. The Importance Of Hypatia For The Development Of Western... Hypatia of Alexandria is a relevant example of the way in which men fear powerful and intelligent women due to their insecurity of losing power. Although the way in which she was brought down is one of the most extreme cases, it resembles much of what continues to go on in Western Civilization. There are both consistencies and inconsistencies between the sources, lecture, and the textbook. The inconsistencies most likely attribute to this aforementioned male insecurity. The Importance of Hypatia for the Development of Western Civilization Much like Hypatia, it is common to see women s accomplishments downplayed and criticized across all of history. With another wave of the feminist movement we have seen in the last few years, Hollywood has decided to do a bit of retelling to set the story straight of a few major events, these specifically focus on The United States. For example, the movie Hidden Figures (2016), directed by Theodore Melfi, speaks about black women working in NASA in the 1960s and how their contributions did much for the success of the program. Another is the documentary Dolores (2017), directed by Peter Bratt, that was based on the life of Dolores Huerta, a civil rights activist that fought alongside Caesar Chaves, yet received none of the credit for all her accomplishments in American History textbooks. Both these films shed light on women that were overlooked in history due to them not conforming to what society thought a woman should be. For Hypatia, this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. How Did Shakespeare Influence The American Theatre There are lots of important things that were created in the Renaissance. Drama was one of the most impressive inventions that they improved. One of the theaters that they had was the Globe Theater. Even though the Globe Theater was destined for failure, it became successful due to Shakespeare and the support of the Royal Monarch. Before understanding Shakespeare and his impact on the Globe you have to know a little bit of information on plays and prediction in the Renaissance time period. The plays before Shakespeare connected more to a religious point of view and the morals were more simple(Currie,109). Playwrights were based off of morals for the writing in the books, just like how to day we have movies based off books. The only difference is that the plays were played of of religious books. An example of one of their most common morals Stephen Currie writes in a book, One person is example for everyone . There was two theaters and 160,000... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 11. Container Cheating Container gardening is a style of small space gardening in which vegetables and flowers are planted in containers instead of directly in the ground. One reason container gardening has become so popular in recent years is that the containers can be moved around to areas where a person might not normally think of planting a vegetable garden. Patios, stoops, sidewalks and even along driveways are some of the more typical places that a gardener might grow container vegetables. While you can use just about any style of container for growing vegetables, the container must have drainage holes and be large enough to support the plant. But, exactly what IS the right size? Leave bumps, hills, hollows, ridges, rocks and stumps. Too often, the builder beats the owner to it and levels out the ground. Natural irregularities add interest and make a piece of ground more individual, and rocks and stumps can be the beginnings of rock garden flower and evergreen plantings or backdrops for flowering vines. Dooryard Gardens We could have more dooryard gardens. Instead of having shrubs right at the house front, put them about 10 feet in front of the house and use the space between for a small flower garden. This makes a colorful spot right near the front door. Evergreens planted thickly enough can make a screen from the street and some cement or brick or flagstone inside the area can provide sitting room; now you have a flowery outdoor extension of the living room. Or set out a looser hedge planting, and let the bright posies behind it be invitingly visible from the street. Instead of a hedge, on a small piece of ground, have a low fence as the boundary for your front dooryard flower garden. What became of the old fashioned mixed flower border? You will never get another pair of eyes. Making her put her glasses on symbolizes that if you have glasses on, you are ugly and worthless which is what she is trying to get Charlotte to feel. • 13. Quality Of Life As A Good Life Quality of life (QOL) means a good life and we believe that a good life is the same as living a life with a high quality. This may seem evident, but it is necessary to make such a simple clarification, because medical jargon often uses very narrow concepts of the quality of life (for example, side effect profiles). Medical advertisements often depict the quality of life as one factor among many, on a par with other improvements that a certain medical product promises. In this work, the quality of life belongs on the highest, most common level of life. All great religions and philosophies have a notion of a good life ranging from saying that a good life is attained by practical codes of conduct to requests to engage in a certain positive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The objective quality of life reveals itself in a person s ability to adapt to the values of a culture and tells us little about that person s life. Examples may be social status or the status symbols one should have to be a good member of that culture. (Objective is used here in the sense of nonsubjective or objective facts. Nonsubjective is concerned with the external and easily established conditions of life that many observers can rate identically.) The notion of a good life can be observed from subjective to the objective, where this spectrum incorporates a number of existing quality of life theories. We call this spectrum the integrative quality of life (IQOL) theory and discuss the following aspects in this paper: well being, satisfaction with life, happiness, meaning in life, the biological information system ( balance ), realizing life potential, fulfillment of needs, and objective factors. Well Being: The most natural aspect of the subjective quality of life is well being. The quality of life is seen here in terms of an assessment of one s own quality of life. When we meet other people, we always say, How are you? or How s life? We are thus asking that person to give us an evaluation of their quality of life. Satisfaction with Life: When people are asked whether they are satisfied with life, they often say that something or other is amiss. People are usually less satisfied with life than their state of well being would ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this essay I will compare the Irish Potato famine with the current migration crisis that is happening in Syria. I will demonstrate how this two can relate to each other by comparing the similarities in their history to see what lead them to this dilemma and how they did/can find a solution to the terrible problem. We are going to analyze the government of Ireland between the years of 1840 1850. The government in the winter of 1846 allowed the massive exportation of grain leaving the country with an absence of food. • 15. The German National Soccer Team Essay Upon first thought, traditions can provide a sense of comfort and can therefore be hard to break. They are something individuals can fall back on in times of distress and often offer a sense of community. When individuals go against these traditions, however, there are frequently consequences due to cultural norms. For a fictional character like Victor Frankenstein, his oppositions come from his own conscience and originates after attempting to play god by creating a murderous monster, something society would deem inexcusable. On the contrary, Luther the Reformer went against numerous traditions of the catholic church, the biggest organized religious group of his time. He was excommunicated from the church who opposed his beliefs, but as a result, he formed a new religion with millions of followers today. Erik Erikson, and similarly, the German national soccer team, were highly criticized by their respected communities after embracing a new path. Throughout all these examples, each case has produced opposition due to cultural norms. Although the consequences of breaking tradition can be either good or bad, one thing is for certain, the act of breaking tradition is always going to be met with opposition, whether it be internal or societal. Through the act of breaking tradition, the fictional character Frankenstein faced rather extreme consequences from his actions. Victor Frankenstein was driven by his desire to go above and beyond the limits of the scientific discovery of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Albert Camus Death The thematics of death are almost infinite. And with many possibilities there is no surprise that death can play an important role into the theme of a book. One case of this is shown in Albert Camus s The Stranger where Meursault, the narrator of the book, dies. When approaching his execution he understands that no one person has significant worth. That shows a philosophical view/theme that no other book has shown as clearly before it. Throughout the book you can sense the buildup to Camus central message. This came to a point when Meursault is killed. He seemed indifferent to any situation he was in, even after learning his neighbor was beating his mistress. He still agreed to be friends because he doesn t really care for the woman, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Camus argues that there is only one thing certain in life and that is death. Meursault doesn t fully understand this until right before he is about to be guillotined. He realizes that he has no meaning and is not special. He will be born then die just like everyone else. As you uncover his peculiarities, you may be confused on why the writer would make him this way but it is all cleared up when he is killed. Meursault is being executed for a crime he did for no reason, however; he seems unworried by his situation even after a sad conversation with Marie in the prison cell. Before he is killed he gives a very important quote that shows the philosophy the books wants to portray, for everything to be consummated, for me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they greet me with cries of hate . This quote shows above all else that humans are ultimately responsible for their acts whether good or bad. Death plays many roles in books it is often used to develop major themes. This is especially the case in Albert Camus s book, The Stranger . Meursault s death is a vital aspect to show the book s theme. Without the message his death brings the story would not be the ... • 17. In an Essay Explain What Insights Are Offered Through an... Identity is about perception, the way someone sees themselves and their surroundings, the set of rules that they follow, their morals, the decisions they make, the way they look and the way they think. This is shaped by their location and experiences, as well as by other humans. Identity is represented in many ways through poetry, music, books, paintings and other mediums. Bruce Dawe represents the identity of two very different types of people in his poems Homo Suburbiensis and Drifters where he represents the identity of his subjects through more of a specific description of a certain set of people and not any person in particular in an informative tone , while Dorothea Mackellar focuses more on her own identity in her poem, My... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Similarly, Dawe s poem Homo Suburbiensis is aimed to present a suburban man as a species of human, rather than an individual. This is done through the latinised title, sounding like a scientific name for an animal, rather than a human being. The informative tone is also present in this poem as it is in the previous poem. As we look through a proverbial magnifying glass into the life of the man, the poem examines even the smallest of details during those few seconds the man spends in his garden as we observe him. We learn that he is in a vegetable patch and the line all the things he takes down with him there suggests more than garden tools, but also his thoughts, specifically his problems and worries, which may be depicted as a weight one may be carrying. This suggests to us that his vegetable patch is a sanctuary, his own personal private place of relaxation where he can sink into his own mind and think things over. The second stanza uses sensory imagery to let the reader put himself in the place of the man in the garden, no longer simply observing him, which helps the reader develop a more accurate picture of exactly the state of mind the man may be in during his time in his garden. The clatter of a dish in a sink that could be his suggests that he is married, which could imply children, making his garden all the more an escape, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 18. How Are Humans Are Inherently Wrong Modern humans come from a long history of death, scandal, and tragedy, and it seems all we remember as a race are those things. For instance, if asked to recall a significant world event occurring in the past century, most people would cite events such as wars, genocides, terrorist attacks, and other such atrocities. To put that in perspective, imagine a non humanviewing the last 100 years of our planet from the outside. It would be hard to deny that we look the part of an essentially immoral society that lives to destroy one another. Is that what we are, though? My answer is no. I believe human existence is based on helping each other. I believe that through subjectivity, it is possible find moral intent behind any action moral or immoral. Above all, I believe, despite many existing examples pointing the other way, humans are, through evolution, inherently moral. To preface, it is necessary to outline the basics of morality to better grasp exactly what is meant by the phrase within my thesis statement: inherently moral. Understand, however, that the nature of human moral code is not fully understood, and it is difficult to present any one hypothesis without encountering a flaw in logic.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... That much is fact. However, it is difficult to discern exactly why we have one. How are we able to judge whether an action is right or wrong? What do we judge each action against? An action must be based against something in order to be deemed right or wrong, so there must be some kind of moral benchmark or criterion. Some might suggest this criterion is rooted in religion (i.e., the Ten Commandments, etc). However, since early humans did not have religion (or at least not a discernible one), one must put aside all religious thoughts, and view the issue for what it truly is: one of ... • 19. Analysis Of Diving Into The Wreck By Adrienne Rich Is it possible for words on a page to become a painting in the mind? After plunging into Adrienne Rich s Diving into the Wreck, it is apparent that words on a page can come to life in the mind of the readers. Rich uses a vast amount of describing words, and a setting of a scuba diver to allow readers the ability to acknowledge and understand the difficulties life may imply upon humankind. Throughout the next few paragraphs, it is evident that certain elements of poems can become a large factor in allowing the reader to get more out of a poem, rather than just words on a page. In summary, Adrienne Rich gives the reader a depiction of a person dealing with one or even many difficult intricacies in life through the symbolization of scuba divingin a large body of water (Mays, 2014, p.581). Whether that be national issues, personal relationships, the death of those close by, or even more personal issues, the reader is able to relate with Rich s symbolization of a scuba diver getting ready for an intense journey through a large, dark body of water. Scuba diving into a shipwreckis an abstract way to relate the thoughts people bottle up inside their bodies into a larger, more meaningful picture, which allows the reader to understand how issues weigh on the mind. In addition, Rich doesn t just use simple words to create a symbolization, she precedes or follows those words with meaningful adjectives which help to create a clearer appearance for the reader to imagine. • 21. The Death Penalty And The Fourteenth Amendment The death penalty to many people could be considered unconstitutional under the eighth and the fourteenth amendment s. People fear nothing more than death itself because death is final. Execution dates being carried out promptly with assigned dates after a fair trial would discourage almost anyone from committing future crimes that are worthy of execution. We as a society are based on the need for retribution and vengance. Making a wrongdoer pay the price equivalent to the price the wrongdoer did. Sparsely carrying out executions prolongs the mental and emotional suffering of the victim s family and friends. It cost taxpayers millions of dollars per year, more than general population to house a death row inmates. Allowing death row inmates to sit on death row for 25 plus years is a lugsury most dont deserve. With less than 10% of all inmates being exonorated in the past 200 years of death penalties it is unclear why executions are not more readily carried out. Currently, the total number of inmates that have been executed in the US is 1,434. While the total number of inmates currently on death row is 2,943, 55 of which are female inmates. Our desire for retribution dates back as early as the 18th Century BC. We feel the need to see the wrongdoer have consequences for their actions. The play itself is a somewhat dark look into the fall of a king, his kingdom and final hours of his life. This much darker subject matter is balanced with comic relief provided by the guard, the maid and occasional banter of the king s two wives. A well flushed out script that examines such a timeless struggle as the delicate balance of life and death poses immense challenge for those involved. While this challenge occasionally made itself known, the acting body as a whole did a fine job at overcoming these hurdles. The role of Queen Marguerite, played by Laurel Edge, was one of the most complex roles to wrestle with and Edge took many of bold stances that went helped to more fully develop what could have been essentially a bitchy antagonist into a three dimensional being with solid intention from start to finish. Marguerite s objective from the moment she steps on stage is clearly to end the life of the king, or rather help him to the end of his life since no explicit murder takes place. Marguerite stops at nothing to pursuethis through whether her obstacle is Queen Marie or the King himself. In April 1987, there were constitutional changes made that satisfied Quebec s concerns and both the PM and 10 provincial premiers agreed to these changes. This happened at Meech Lake, near Ottawa. I would like to be able to explain all in extreme yet detached detail, with none of my own bias coloring it. My own nature tries to prevent me from doing so, yet I attempt time and time again. Who is to say this will be any different, but I find myself trying again to the best of my ability. We had been walking. I got home, they didn t. There. Colorless, yes, but wholly accurate. • 40. Eating Disorders Are Serious Disorders Eating disorders are serious disorders that have a negative impact on both the psychological and the physiological well being of the afflicted (Welch, Ghader, Swenne, 2015). Studies concerning eating disorders are showing more and more frequency in younger age groups and especially in those who are athletes, diabetics, and obese adolescents (Martin Golden, 2014). This tells us that symptoms of eating disorders can be caught and treated during adolescence. Today, many schools have very little class time dedicated to educating students about healthy lifestyles. Little, to no information is given about what eating disorders are or how to avoid the development of one. If information is provided about the prevention of eating disorders, it is usually in the form of a video or discussed briefly in a textbook. Schools are not doing enough in the fight against the development of eating disorders. Many studies have shed some light on the issue of eating disorders by conducting surveys and developing new programs to use in schools. The primary prevention of eating and body image problems among young people, and in particular, adolescents, is emerging as one of the most desirable achievements in contemporary health and nutrition(O Dea J. , 2000). Primary prevention programs, and better education in general, for the prevention of eating disorders and promotion of healthy lifestyles needs to be established in schools. • 43. Quasi Contracts INTRODUCTION AND RATIONALE OF QUASI CONTRACTS: Under the general heading of the Quasi contract there has been grouped a number of cases which have little or no affinity with contract. A simple illustration is afforded by the action to recover money paid by mistake. If the plaintiff on an erroneous interpretation of the facts, pays to the defendant a sum of money which he does not really owe, law, no less than justice, will require he defendant to restore it. But his obligation is manifestly not based upon the consent, even in the extended meaning borne by the word in the English law, and its description as a quasi contractual liability serves only to emphasize its remoteness from any genuine conception of contract. This shows that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But Lord MANSFIELD preferred the latter theory that the bases for quasi contracts are for the purpose of prevention of unjust enrichment. THEORY OF IMPLIED IN FACT CONTRACT: The gist of this kind of action is that the defendant, upon the circumstances of the case, is obliged by the ties of natural justice and equity to refund the money. But apart from this it should be observed that did not use the word equity to denote the jurisdiction of chancery but the synonym for jus naturale . Nor, while he based the obligations of quasi contract upon the duty of restoring benefits unjustly obtained, did he assert that in every such case an action would lie. As he declared in Weston v. Downes, I am a great friend to the action for money had and received, and therefore I am not stretching, lest I should endanger it thus the principle of unjust benefit explained the cases falling within the scope of quasi contracts: it did not automatically invoke the remedy. Subject to these qualifications the rationalization of the quasi contract upon the basis of unjust benefit was accepted for over a hundred years. But when, in the course of the nineteenth century, the form of the action was replaced by the dichotomy of tort and contract, Lord Mansfield s views were challenged. According to Lord SUMNER in Sinclair v. Brougham in 1914 the various actions grouped under the title of quasi contract were clearly not tortious; if the new antithesis of the common law were inevitable ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The grandmother in A Good Man is hard to find gives great importance to being a lady, and her ideas about what that means reflect an old fashioned, Southern mindset. She uses the n word and longs for the good old days when kids were polite, people were trustworthy. All of this leads her to associate being good with coming from a respectable family and behaving like a member of her social class; those who don t are outsiders. All of this is put to the test when she meets The Misfit. Society vs. Class shows that everyone is truly equal and at the end of the day social class doesn t make a difference. O Conner shows this through her use of Tone and Characterization throughout the story. Why Is Balance Control Important How Important Is Ankle Proprioception for Balance Control in Sport Performance and Injury Abstract Balance control improvement is one of the most important goals in sports and exercise. Better balance is strongly positively associated with enhanced athletic performance and negatively associated with lower limb sports injuries. Proprioception plays an essential role in balance control, and ankle proprioception is arguably the most important. This paper reviews ankle proprioception and explores possible links with balance control, specifically in a sport context. Central processing of ankle proprioceptive information, along with other sensory information, enables integration for balance control. Care must be taken when assessing ankle proprioception to ensure that the method used has ecologically valid and allows proprioceptive signals to be integrated in the central nervous system and reflects the signal noise nature of central processing. Ankle proprioceptive intervention concepts driven by the central processing theory are further proposed and discussed for the improvement of balance control in sport. Introduction ... Hester said she had to stay in Boston to face what she had done but being with Dimmesdale changed her mind. She thought Dimmesdale and her could move away from all of their sin `and start fresh. Another reason why Hester wanted to move away with Dimmesdale is so Pearl can have a father figure in her life. In vast London or, surely, in Germany...thou wouldst be beyond his power and knowledge (Hawthorne 218). Another way Hester grows is her choice of going with the Black Man. Hester would have gone with the Black Man to get away from all her troubles. Since they did not take Pearl away from her, Hester stayed and Pearl changed her view on life. Had they taken her from me, I would have willingly have gone with thee into the forest (Hawthorne 129). One of the changes that occur since she has gotten the Scarlet Letter is her view of people. She understands and has the knowledge of other s sins but the downfall is she loses faith. The last change she goes through is her needing to wear the Scarlet Letter.
