He began with an introduction and explained that Jest is a JavaScript testing framework developed by Facebook that aims to solve common testing problems. He then demonstrated how Jest saves time through fast setup, writing tests quickly using familiar syntax and APIs, running tests in parallel and with a smart watch mode, and providing clear errors to fix tests fast. He concluded with a demo of Jest's features and took questions.

At DreamPort, we use cloud platforms, infrastructure-as-code tooling, configuration tools, automation software, and container technologies to very quickly design, develop, and prototype projects. This particular talk focuses on the tools used to deploy and configure a Splunk cluster for a particular project we recently ran. We will cover the deployment, configuration, and orchestration of a large 16 node Splunk cluster using tools that are a core set to DreamPort's cloud infrastructure toolbox; AWS, Terraform, Ansible, and Docker.
It is recommended that attendees have a general understanding of AWS, Linux, Splunk, and Docker, and know about automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.

Flask is a micro web framework written in Python that allows developers to create websites and APIs. It has a simple core but is highly extensible, only importing what is needed. Flask is easy to learn, follows Python conventions, and has excellent documentation. While small, it can handle large applications and is testable without making decisions like what database to use. Under the hood, Flask has only around 450 lines of code but 5000 lines of documentation and 1000 lines of tests, making it lightweight and efficient.

Lessons in Open Source from the MongooseJS ODM

The Apache Olingo project actual contains Java and JavaScript libraries which provided development support for the realization of an OData service as a server in addition to support for consuming an OData service as client.
Before the Apache Olingo project started there was an earlier Open Source project from which we learnt that it’s best to start from scratch and thereby avoid failures from the past. By starting afresh, we could do everything better than before.
This is how the Apache Olingo was born.

Measures in SQL (SIGMOD 2024, Santiago, Chile)
SQL has attained widespread adoption, but Business Intelligence tools still use their own higher level languages based upon a multidimensional paradigm. Composable calculations are what is missing from SQL, and we propose a new kind of column, called a measure, that attaches a calculation to a table. Like regular tables, tables with measures are composable and closed when used in queries.
SQL-with-measures has the power, conciseness and reusability of multidimensional languages but retains SQL semantics. Measure invocations can be expanded in place to simple, clear SQL.
To define the evaluation semantics for measures, we introduce context-sensitive expressions (a way to evaluate multidimensional expressions that is consistent with existing SQL semantics), a concept called evaluation context, and several operations for setting and modifying the evaluation context.
