OBJECTIVES OF PRESENTATION
TO PROVIDE BASIC OVERVIEW OF PROJECT.
TO HAVE AN INSIGHT TOWARDS THE NEW
TECHNOLOGY USED IN ELECTRIC TRACTION
SYSTEMS.
WHAT METRO SYSTEM REALLY IS? AND HOW IT
WORKS IN HEAVILY POPULATED URBANIZED
AREAS.
INTRODUCTION TO PROJECT
• Possible options for public mass transit system are city buses, bus rapid
transient systems, tramway system and a metro system.
•India has five metro systems in five urban cities naming(ranking with
start dates):
Kolkata(1984)
Delhi(2002)
Bangalore(2011)
Jaipur(june2013)
Chennai (june2015)
• Types of metro: light( upto 25k),medium(25-50k) and heavy capacity
metro system(50-80k)
•Jaipur stands on fourth and its a medium capacity metro system.
•Trains run at 3-4 min intervals and have digitalised fare collection system
through cards.
NETWORK
MISSION
•To provide mass rapid transit system(MRTS) in
the city of jaipur by way of metro rail network.
•Jaipur metro to be world class standards in
reguards to safety, reliability,punctuality,comfort
and user satisfaction.
•Metro to operate on sound ethical standards.
WHY METRO?
•FASTER AS REDUCES JOURNEY TIME(50-75%).
•NO AIR POLLUTION AND NOISE POLLUTION.
•ENERGY EFFICIENT.
•OCCUPIES NO SPACE IF UNDERGROUND AND ONLY ABOUT
2 METRES SPACE WHEN ELEVATED.
•MORE RELIABLE AND COMFORTABLE THAN ROADWAYS.
•GERNERATES EXTRA REVENUE THOUGH REGENERATIVE
BRAKING AND BY PROMOTING BUSINESS ACTIVITIES AT
STATIONS.
•THE TRACKS ARE BASED ON INDIAN RAILWAYS GAUGE
SYSTEMS(1435mm),IN CASE OF FLOP CAN BE SOLDOUT.
•IT MAKES THE PINKCITY AS A NEW BORN METROPOLITAN
CITY.

BLUE LINE PHASE-1 ANALYSIS
•CONSISTS OF 1DEPOT AND 10 STATIONS.
•MANSAROVAR is depot and the centre of control having a
separate source of supply for its working both
auxiliary(33kv) and traction(25kv).
•The depot consists of IBL,UPTRACK&DOWNTRACK ASS
UNIT, CHILLER UNIT, FEEDER POSTS, TRAIN WASH UNIT AND
MAIN CONTROL BUILDING CONSISTING SCADA UNIT.
•Further depot leads to elevated tracks through up tracks
and after crossing 8 stations leads to underground stations.
•Double tracks, trains can come and leave simultaneously.

POWER SOURCE FOR METRO
SYSTEM(RSS)
•RSS is receiving substation. JMRC has its own power supply
units: SINDHI CAMP & MANSAROVAR.
•JMRC is a big customer of RAJ ELEC. BOARD takes power
from Grid Sub Station HEERAPURA 420KW.
• underground power lines of 132kv are drawn from GSS.
•Get stepped down in 33kv 3phase and 25kv single phase.
•33kv for aux and 25kv for traction in double circuits.
•If one RSS fails than other one is in service, if both failed
than DG sets are used.
•Consists of GIS UNIT (gas insulated switchgear).its an indoor
switchgear.
GIS SECTION OF RSS
• Showing two traction & two aux
transformer.
• A series of CT,PT,CB’s are here.
• Two busbars are also present.
• Section consists of dry type and oil type
transformers.
• Boucholtz relays.
OHE SYSTEMS
•RIGID AND FLEXIBLE OHE.
•CATENARY(65sqmm HD-copper) AND CONTACT
WIRES(150sqmm HD-copper).
•DROPPER WIRE(clips catenary and contact)
•Return conductor RC (AAC).
•ATD’s(anti tentioning device hydraulic type).
• STAGGERING (zig zag movt. On panto).
•OVERLAPS(wires can’t be fevisticked)
•MASTS AND BRACKETS AND INSULATORS.
•BOOSTER TRANSFORMERS.
•TRANSPOSING OF WIRES(to min. interference)

MAIN TRANSFORMER
The Main Transformer is used to supply all the
Electrical power requirement for the Train
Operation. Its Function is to step down the 25kV
Catenary supply to suitable levels for Train supply
systems i.e. Traction Power at 1058/952 V AC to
feed Traction Converter/Inverter sets and Auxiliary
Power at 470V AC to feed the Auxiliary Static
Inverter.
As the name suggests the Transformer transfers the
Electrical Power from one Electric circuit to another
by Induction Process without having any electrical
connection between the three circuits.

Valve
• Design and Performance Data
• Model name: ATM6
• Manufacture: Mitsubishi Electric
• Type: single-phase, 50Hz, shell form, silicone oil
• Type of cooling: forced oil, forced air cooling
• Rated capacity
Primary: 1170 kVA
Secondary: 976 kVA
Tertiary: 194 kVA
• Rated voltage
Primary: 25000 V
Secondary: 1058 V
Tertiary: 470V
• Rated current
Primary: 52 A
Secondary: 513 A
Tertiary: 459 A
TRACTION MOTOR
• 3 Phase, Squirrel Cage
Induction Motor
• Mounted to the bogie
frame & connected by the
gear box
• A cooling fan mounted
inside the motor frame on
the rotor shaft
STATIC INVERTER (SIV)
•Converting DC power to AC power is termed
as inversion, and device that accomplishes it is
termed as inverter.
•The function of SIV is to convert the 470 V AC
obtained from Tertiary winding of Main
Transformer to a stable 415V AC , three-phase
supply to provide power for the Train Auxiliary
loads and Battery Charger.

Its Function is to step down the 25kV Catenary supply to suitable levels for Train supply systems i.e. Traction Power at 1058/952 V AC to feed Traction Converter/Inverter sets and Auxiliary Power at 470V AC to feed the Auxiliary Static Inverter. As the name suggests the Transformer transfers the Electrical Power from one Electric circuit to another by Induction Process without having any electrical connection between the three circuits.
