Autistic Friendly Space Essay
715
Designing the Space for Autism
According to the Center for Disease Control, one in sixty eight American children are diagnosed
with autism. Those with autism are highly sensitive to sight, sound, as well as touch and this can
make it difficult for individuals on the spectrum to function within an enclosed space. Finding the
right balance is key when designing an autistic friendly space, as autistic individuals can have a
strong aversion to change. Having too flexible of an environment can invoke fear if the
environment is always changing. It is important, when designing for autism, to offer both flexibility
and variety and be sensitive to sensation and stimulus.
Since autistic individuals perceive lighting, colors, and patterns differently, ... Show more content

Strike a balance between having large, open spaces and offering small, intimate spaces. By offering
variety, you allow for flexibility and can more easily accommodate the needs and sensitivities of
each autistic individual.
2.Autistic individuals are also sensitive to the feel of physical objects, and while this sensitivity
varies from person to person, you can strike a happy medium by favoring the use of natural
materials and textiles. Lean more towards the use of wood, rubber, wool, porcelain, cork, and
rubber.
3.Keep in the mind the acoustics, as for many autistic individuals this can be distracting and over
stimulating. The hum of fluorescent lighting, the sound of an air conditioning or heating unit, the
sound of someone eating, footsteps, or even hearing multiple forms of sound at once can be
maddening, distracting, and can even cause pain. Many autistic individuals suffer from headaches
and can become agitated when they are inundated with multiple forms of sound.
4.Provide withdrawal, or isolation, spaces where one can go to re center when they have become
over stimulated and overwhelmed. It is also important to design these rooms to be as soundproof as
possible, so the elimination of ambient sound can become

The Nazi Regime Of Adolf Hitler At Auschwitz Birkenau...
1.1 million. That is the number of people exterminated by the Nazi regime of Adolph Hitler at
Auschwitz Birkenau death camp between 1940 45. (Auschwitz Birkenau museum online) The
raw number itself absolutely staggering, too large for any human being to wrap their minds
around. It is a large enough number to inspire skepticism, disbelief, and outrage. To this day,
decades after the fact, there are still those who deny that any of it ever happened because the
numbers are just too big. It is better to think of this tragedy in more personal terms: as in 1.1
million families physically ripped apart, 1.1 million dreams snuffed out, and untold numbers of
survivors left scared forever. Human faces need to be attached to the raw numbers, or else the
numbers become a point of data, something which can be spun to serve up moral or political
advantage in today s society. We must remember what happened in Auschwitz Birkenau, and the
other Nazi concentration camps. All of humanity must remember or we are surely doomed to
one day repeat this dark chapter in our history. The history of the Jewish people is littered with
tales of religious based violence, state organized pogroms, and forced evictions. American jewish
parents have taken the old rhyme: Columbus sailed the Ocean Blue in 1492 , and added the
words and the Jews were kicked out too! in order to memorialize the Jews exile from Spain during
the Catholic Church s Inquisition. Jews were accused of all manner of crimes, both

I adamantly refused to even walk out the front door because of the fear of studying in different

Why Was There a Struggle Between the Bourgeoisie and the...
Why, according to Marx and Engels in The Manifesto of the Communist Party, was there inevitably
struggle between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, which would create the preconditions for
socialism? ___________________
The theories of Karl Marx have influenced some of the world s greatest thinkers. Marx s idea of the
inevitable class struggle within capitalism and consequent place for a socialist society is professed
within The Manifesto of the Communist Party. It is necessary to explore why Marx and Engels
believed class conflict to be unavoidable in order to understand why the preconditions for socialism
could be established. It is clear that economics is at the heart of Marxist thought and it can be
arguably suggested that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The nature of capitalism meant the bourgeoisie needed to exploit their workers in order to make a
surplus. If they didn t do this they would fall themselves into the proletariat and their employees
would work for someone who would. This made the situation of the proletariat all the more dire.
Marx expressed this view when he defined the proletariat as a class of labourers, who live only
so long as they find work, and who find work only so long as their labour increases capital (page
8). This meant that the chances of a proletariat had to advance into a higher economic class were
reduced and a further polarisation of classes would develop. This meant that a class struggle was
inevitable if one views Marx s theory as one of group formation as is explored by Reinhard
Bendix in his study of Marx. Bendix suggests that in Marx s view ruling classes are aware of
their common interests and have the organizational means to promote them, while oppressed
classes still seek to achieve class consciousness and organizational cohesion. Hence due to a lack
of class consciousness the proletariat continue to struggle. This was inevitable, according to
Bendix view of Marx, due to the nature of the oppressed classes. A similar idea that causes
inevitable class conflict mentioned again by Bendix is that a lack of acquaintance and competing
interests divided the workers amongst them selves. Although all of them lived a starkly deprived
life, their

A Study Of Public Administration
Since Woodrow Wilson (1889) published the article, a study of public administration , the main
question in the field of public administration is how to govern a democratic and political entity.
Given public administration conventionally concerns about civil servants and agencies in the
executive branch, one among diverse and essential subfields is bureaucracyand organizational
theory. In general, the development of studies on bureaucracy and organizational theory has gone
through the period of classical theory to modern theory, and from modern theory to the advent of
post modernism and post positivism. After historically reviewing the growth of knowledge on this
subfield, forces behind the progress are the product of countless and... Show more content on

But with respect to the mean to this end, while the Federalist prefers centralized executive powers,
the anti Federalist go another way suggested by communitarianism.
In terms of organizational theories, there are at least two main streams at that time can be
identified. The first is managerialism, including scientific management and human relation school.
Basically, both focused on management strategies. Nevertheless, one focused on principles of
management for formal organizations, the other cares more about psychological status and
informal organizations. For scientific management, the founding father is Frederick Taylors (1912)
who employed scientific methods, like natural science, to measure working loadings and should
be working times for increasing efficiency and developing a fair payments systems. Under his
guidance, Gulick (1937) and Urwick (1945) make efforts to propose several principles of
organizational operations and design. The most famous one would be POSDCORB introduced by
Gulick. On the other hand, Elton Mayor (1930), as conducting the Hawthorne experiment, found
the benign presence of researchers would boost productivities, instead of changes in facilities in
factories. Chester Barnard (1938) argued that organizations are cooperative system maintaining the
dynamic balances between the needs of the organization and its employees. With respect to the
need of employees, Maslow came up with the need

Near Field Communication ( Nfc )
NFC Report Name Date Near field communication (NFC) Near field communication (NFC) is a
set of protocols that allow communication between two electronic devices. Most commonly this
technology is used for communication between portable devices like smartphones. Even though it
is a contact less system of communication, it requires that the devices are within 4 cm or 1.57
inch distance from each other (Carter Faulkner, 2015). Basically, this technology relies on
creating a low speed connection between the devices which has a very simple setting up
procedure. It has found application in a vast variety of applications, ranging from contact less
payment from credit and debit cards as well as the smartphone based payment techniques, to the
social networking applications as well, where media and contact information can be shared
wirelessly between devices. NFC technology has also found application for identity related
documents and keycards. Encoding and Encryptions The technology that allows contactless
transactions, because of its simplicity and effectiveness has become an integral part of people s
daily usage. However, there are many concerns regarding security that people have expressed about
it, most of which are quite valid. For example, one of the common application of NFC technology is
its ability to make purchases through different credit and debit card accounts, very simply through
one s smartphone. However, this feature, even though convenient,

Douglas Daft has taken different approach by taking localization approach strategy. In this
approach Daft has given back the autonomy power to the Country Manager to decide for any
changes that was suit to customer s expectation. The strategy taken by Daft was not really
successful because even though he managed to meet the customers requirement by customizing
the product but actually in total the company gained lesser profitability and profit growth due to

believe that Coke is now trying to pursue transnational Strategy as it has been practiced by many

Global Strategy and Daft s approach was more on localization strategy. The transnational Strategy
actually is a combination of both Global and Localization Strategy. The firm seeks to combine the

Fensive Cost Of Defense
The Offensive Cost of Defense The United States spends far more than any other country on
defense and security with no end in sight to their expenditures. The total military spending by the
United States is nearly equal to the combined military spending of every other nation combined.
This unreasonable amount of spending hinders the capacity to provide basic needs, as well as
eliminating money that can be used to resolve other domestic issues, while at the same time
allowing for short term economic prosperity and increasing our national defense capacity. The
United Statesmilitary spending accounts for nearly 54% of federal discretionary spending. Of the
$1.1 trillion in discretionary spending in the United States, military spending accounts for the
widest amount of spending with $598.5 billion being spent, roughly 54%. The section of federal
discretionary spending that was even remotely close to the money spent on the military is the
federal discretionary spending that the government accrued at just under $73 billion which accounts
for only 6% of the $1.1 trillion in discretionary spending. In 2011 the United States government
spent about $718 billion on defense and international security assistance, more than it spent on
Medicare. United States military expenditures are roughly the size of the next nine largest military
budgets around the world, combined. The military s high expenditures impact the economy s ability
to provide to other domestic services and programs.

The Legacy Of World War I
Retired venture capitalist Gregg Bemis owns the salvage rights to the Lusitania and he thinks he
can solve the 100 year old mystery of why it sank so quickly. His biggest obstacle: The Irish
government, which has fought him for years over his plans to explore the wreck.
It was a kiss Gregg Bemis will never forget.
It happened in 2004. Bemis, 76 years old at the time, was wrapped in diving gear, floating at the
bottom of the Irish Sea. He took out his mouthpiece, knelt carefully on a slab of encrusted steel, and
planted a fervent if wet smooch on the hull of the Lusitania the elegant passenger ship that was
sunk by a German submarine in 1915, 100 years ago this week, in one of the pivotal moments of
World War I.
It was silly, Bemis ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Years after Bemis became the Lusitania s owner, a change in maritime law gave Ireland
jurisdiction over the wreck. And Ireland s cultural officials view the ship as a combination historic
monument and cemetery, a fragile archaeological site that could be desecrated if Bemis s efforts to
solve the mystery of its doom involve physically altering its remains.
In the battle between preservation and property rights, preservation is currently winning: Bemis
has been unable to convince the government to let him explore his ship his way. And the current
dispute is just the latest in a series of legal battles that has enmeshed Bemis and the Lusitania for
almost 30 years. Bemis has won some fights and lost others; along the way he s become a minor
celebrity in Ireland, thanks to coverage of his lawsuits and his knack for colorful, unsparing
criticism of the country s cultural mandarins. Even one of his own attorneys says that Bemis can
come across as an undiplomatic pain in the ass, and Bemis is proudly unapologetic about that. To
authorities insistence that their only priority is to protect the Lusitania, Bemis replies: Protect it
from what? They are not protecting it from the ravages of the ocean, nor the fishermen s nets, nor
the pirates, but only protecting it from the owner and historical truth.
As the clock ticks, salt and currents erode the remains of one of the most historically

Article V, Vii, And Viii Of The Augsburg Confession
Article V, VII, and VIII of the Augsburg Confession Article V states that through the ministry of
teaching the gospel and administering the sacraments, believers can obtain the concept of
justification. As article V states, For through the Word and the Sacraments as through
instruments the Holy Spirit is given, who effects faith where and when it pleases God in those
who hear the Gospel, that is to say, in those who hear that God, not on account of our own merits
but on account of Christ, justifies those who believe that they are received into grace on account
of Christ (AC V: 2,3; Kolb and Wengert: 41), it teaches that justification is given to those who
hear the gospel. This is a missiological implication to the ministry of the church, so people can
hear the gospel and they can be received into grace on account of Christ. Hartenstein argues that
article V, VII, and VIII of the Augsburg Confession are inseparably connected in order to answer
how missionary service should be conducted. His first argument refers to the words of preaching
and sees that article V suggests on how the proclamation of the words depends on the office of the
church. As he notes, The proclamation of the mighty message, which occurs between heaven and
earth, is about creation and redemption and completion of the world and can only be carried out
by those who have been especially assigned to such a task, who have totally committed themselves
to God, and who are prepared to proclaim on behalf of

Racial Tension Between Black And White Americans

Essay 4
The term The Negro Problem was used throughout the 1950 s and 60 s as a slang description of the
racial tension between black and white Americans. The two essays in The Fire Next Time talk
about the problem that the African Americancommunity faced, but from different perspectives. The
author is writing to his nephew and is trying to make him understand that the situation is intolerable
and not likely to change. He suggests that instead of reacting from a place of anger and hate, that
the nephew should fight and strive to change the situation rather than confronting it violently. That
his nephew and even the community as a whole should try to almost outsmart the whites by being
the opposite of what they think of them. To prove them wrong and hopefully change the way they
are looked at. He suggests a change of attitudes on both sides, to spread love and understanding
instead of hate and animosity.
Baldwin grew up on the streets of Harlem; he began to realize the all of the temptations such as
sex and drugs was all around him. In order not to give into these temptations, he went to the church
in the hopes it would give him some insight on what to do. Eventually Baldwin sadly realized that
the church was not preaching the idea of love to everyone, but only to the ones who believed in the
same things they did. It is not too much to say that whoever wishes to become a truly moral human

Absurdism In The Absurd Theatre
Absurdity
The absurd theatre is another movement that emerged as a reaction against the old methods of
culture and literature. In fact, the idea of the absurd is not new but it roots in the history of human
beings. Absurdity in life is primordial and not the invention of the theatre. With the beginning of
life, man is struggling against it to find a solution. The efforts are aimed at a meaningful life and
human being s interrelationship with the universe. It is an eternal struggle between the two. Thus,
the absurdity is not the product of any one factor but it generates through the inevitable dependency.

could sexualize children and teach young girls that their worth is dependent on their physical

fuels fears in a way that they might me traumatized with the experiences they had during the

analyzed through the use of the Student Leadership Practice Inventory developed by James
Kouzes and Barry Posner. The author s research question was Are leadership practices of (A)
model the way, (B) inspire a shared vision, (C) challenge the process, (D) enable others to act, and
(E) Encouraging the heart related to athletic participation and leadership position? (Grandzol,
Perlis, Draina, 2010, p. 405). Although the Grandzol et al were looking at collegiate athletes in
their study, they were trying to answer the age old question; are leaders born or are they developed?
Review of Literature
Leadership has many definitions and has been described by many authors, political leaders, and
common men by different means. The great Green Bay Packers coach, Vince Lombardi, once said;
Leaders aren t born, they are made. And they are made just like anything else, through hard work.
And that s the price we ll have to pay to achieve that goal, or any goal. The literature that the
authors reviewed justifies the argument that leaders are developed. Grandzol et al did not find
much literature that

The Copyright Law Of Canada Connected With An Ethical Line...
This paper discusses the copyright law in Canada connected with an ethical line in music sharing.
Before embarking on the discussion, it is imperative to understand what copyright entails under the
umbrella of intellectual property; the latter refers to intangible property, which is entirely a creation
of the mind (Alexander Penalver, 2012, p. 188). Copyrightis the exclusive right granted to the
original author of literary work. In this effect, it prevents other people from using an authorship
without authorization by the original author. The latter grants license for the reproduction of
copies of the work, its usage, as well as distribution in lieu of some fee, i.e. royalty. Merges (2011)

After the period elapses, any person can use, print, publish, and distribute the original work. The
music industry has been in dispute for many years in respect to music piracy. It went after
software and website developers, as well as consumers in the courts (Easley, 2005, p.163). As a
result, this may be why governing the expansion of the music industry towards later benefits for
the industry; however, not toward those who pirate from them (Easley, 2005, p.163). There is
clear evidence of a willingness to pay for online music in general through legal download services
such as iTunes (Easley, 2005, p.163). It is clear that some new markets are emerging; for example,
services such as 4G LTE combine music with other services. These markets may provide both better
margins and better copyright protection to the music industry. Nevertheless, some forms of music
piracy may ultimately come to be seen as an effective marketing channel for those services (Easley,
2005, p.163). Clearly the industry is adapting piracy issues. Based on the information mentioned
above, the objective of this paper is to emphasize the ethical dimensions of sharing music in the
Canadian context. There are different ways of such sharing like burning, lending, downloading, and
uploading among others. The argument is that burning and downloading are unethical while

The Westward Movement Expansion
LESSON 9 Westward Movement
Objectives:
Identify and understand how advances in technology aided the American Expansion
Identify and understand what drove American Expansion westward
Identify various foreign and domestic groups who were important in America s Expansion
Identify and understand the conflict over settling Texas
Technology s Influence on America s Growth
The economy of the United States changing rapidly. By the 1850s, more people were buying and
selling goods instead of producing goods for their own use. Capitalism was leading this change that
gave private individuals and companies the right to own factories, machines, and land. Business
owners were now investing their own money to make profits.
Capitalism brought change to farmers lives, too. The increasing populations needed more food.
Farmers were starting to used machines to plant and harvest their crops instead of doing all the
labor manually. This allowed them to grow more food to sell. In turn, farmers bought
manufactured goods with the money they earned from selling crops. As the market for goods
increased, the prices came down and allowed more people to purchase items.
People bought themselves new conveniences, such as shoes and boots coated with rubber or a new
sewing machine. The telegraph allowed almost instant communication across great distances.
Steamboats reduced both time and cost of river travel. Canals were dug in regions without passable

Analysis Of Divergent As A Dystopian Film
Respond critically to significant connections across texts, supported by evidence.
Throughout all four of my dystopian films a strong theme that has been brought to the surface is
the idea of individuality is the enemy . As a dystopian film is an illusion of the perfect society,
they go hand in hand. The illusion of a perfect society is typically maintained through the use of
corporate bodies and entities. Dystopian films are typical to play on the worst case scenario of a
situation, within the four films studied Divergent, Macbeth, V for Vendetta and Mokingjay part 2,
the worst case scenario is seen when the government takes control and citizens are under constant

These are all themes that relate to homicides, people are generally killed when they have more
power than someone else or they simply don t want to deal with the problem anymore. It is in this
movie that we see Tris and Four defeat the system, they firstly defeat the system through their
manner, the fact that they are able to confront their deepest fears and are able to see through the
idea of a perfect society. Divergent s also work out that you don t need to be paired with people
that share the mutual hate that you have towards another faction in this case. Tris and Four
manipulate the system as they can see that the government has split up everyone so that they don t
unite and combine all of their skill sets. This is why we see that the government purposely divides
people to stop them from combining their skill sets and becoming more powerful than the
government. Showing how Tris and four are feared to the government and displaying individuality
is the enemy.
This relates to the homicide rate in Chicago in the current world as the year that Tris and Four
defeated the system the homicides in real life decreased. Showing that the homicide rate in Chicago
was used as a draw point to establish themes throughout the movie. Through the use of editing

The Killer Whales Don t Be Killer
Despite the name given to these intelligent animals, killer whales don t seem to be killer... in the
wild anyways. Yet, places like SeaWorld seem to have shown people unintentionally that keeping
whales in captivity and such small areas leads them to be aggressive, and essentially living up to
their name. SeaWorld is an attraction that has been in the United States for many years, and
although it provides great entertainment for individuals and their families, it also is a place where
whales are treated poorly and held in captivity. While people enjoy the tricks the intelligent
mammals are commanded to do, they don t realize the poor conditions that they have once the show
is over. Between whalefighting, poor feeding, and small areas; it is clear that keeping whales in
captivity provides is both physically and mentally harmful to these animals. Many debates and
arguments revolve around keeping whales in captivity, but keeping them in such small areas
seems to cause them to lash out and hurt others. However, after learning about whales both in
captivity as well as the wild, the realization that they should not be captive is starting to become
noted by animal activists, the media and even the public. As the recent controversy of the poor
conditions of killer whales in captivity is becoming more publicly noticed, animals activists are
working towards the rights of killer whales. SeaWorld is a marine mammalpark that has been

Symbolism In Rabbit Proof Fence
The 2002 controversial movie, Rabbit Proof Fence, directed by Phillip Noyce, aims to enlighten the
audience about the suffering of Indigenous Australians during The Great Depression. Similar to
this, the 1986 Play No Sugar has the same purpose. Set in Northam, Western Australia, both texts
utilise a first person point of view to explore the hardships of surviving during the Great Depression
, but with vastly different characters. Using different types of characterisation, lighting, flashbacks,
dialogue and symbolism to tell their story, both texts give the audience slightly different views on
the Indigenous people and White Australians.
Rabbit Proof Fence is narrated from the point of view of 14 year old Molly Craig, a half caste
Indigenous girl. Torn from her family, Molly walks 2400km with her cousin and sister in order
to find her way back home to her Mother. The purpose of this movie is to highlight the negative
effects of attempting to assimilate a race that does not want to be a part of the White society. All
the Aborigines wanted was to live their lives the way they always had, without any interference.
Noyce s choice to have an innocent child as the narrator, evokes an empathetic response from the
audience. They are able to imagine their children in Molly s situation and realise that stealing the
Aborigine children from their mothers was not right. Molly is characterised as a strong, stubborn
and courageous young girl who does everything she can to make it back

Consider The Lobster By David Foster Wallace Analysis
American Novelist, essayist and short story author David Foster Wallace uses his essay Consider
the Lobster to tell the reader about his thought provoking visit to the Maine Lobster Festival.
Wallace wrote this essay to show his thought process dealing with the moral ambiguity of cooking
lobster, and the research he did to further understand the subject. He primarily uses an informational
tone with a heavy emphasis on pathos. He does a fairly good job remaining unbiased and showing
the counterarguments.
Wallace was sent to the Maine LobsterFestival by Gourmet Magazine, he was tasked simply to
write about his experience there. He took this as an opportunity and decided that the risk he was

Following this point he points out that perhaps lobsters understand pain but they don t dislike it
and how pain is not distressing them (Wallace 63). He reinstates the fact that there is a clear
difference in pain as a purely neurological event from pain as actual suffering , the latter requiring
an emotional component (Wallace 36). Later on he states that this means that although lobster s
experience pain it is not a struggle based on discomfort but more of a preference. More akin to
you preferring to sit in a certain spot around the table. These are used to inform the reader of the
physical aspects of the lobster that affect the overall moral ambiguity of the subject.
In his closing statements he takes the time to throw some more thought provoking sentences in,
calling out a part of being a real gourmet (Wallace 64). Wallace wonders if future generations
might look back and see our current eating practices similarly to how we see tribal sacrifices
today. I see this as an extreme analogy but it has its use in this essay, it brings out the thought that
perhaps we should take a step back from our food and think about

This gift made Solomon loved by all people of his kingdom. Solomon used his wisdom to make a
decision about two women and a dead baby. This story in the bible shows how two prostitutes who
both have given birth to a child are arguing because one of the babies has died and the mother of
the dead baby wants to claim the living one. They come to see king Solomon for a judgement, he
tells the women that he would cut the baby in half so that both women would have a piece of
the child. Solomon did this so that he could see which women would have compassion for the
child, who ever showed such compassion would be the mother. The order was sent out to split the
child but one woman says not to cut the baby but to give it to the other women. With seeing this
sign of compassion towards the child Solomon doesn t cut the child but gives it to the women that
would have rather lost her child to another women than see him die. Solomon granted that woman
with the child. For the way that Solomon just knew who to give the child to had the people of
Israel in awe and they perceived that he received this wisdom from God. Solomon was an
intelligent man he knew he couldn t run the empire alone so he appointed three new members of
his cabinet and an officer for every one of the twelve tribes that Israel was split into. The tribes or
districts were created to make his job easier and the people of Israel much less quarrelsome with

My topic of choice is coffee. I personally drink a large amount of it everyday. I spent a lot of time

The Communication Problems That Endanger Marriage Can t...
Communication is usually the most important aspect of trying to understand something or

other side receives it. There are various languages, but in those languages something can mean

words come out rely on the tone. It is not only words that are a barrier, but it is also behavior and

wrong body language, and frustration. Lack of understanding becomes a major component for
something not working out. Deborah Tannen in Sex, Lies and Conversation mentioned that the

Constitutionality of Stop and Frisk
Abstract
The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution protects one s rights against
unreasonable searches and seizures. It also states that no warrants shall be issued without probable
cause. Probable cause can be defined as a person of reasonable caution who believes that a crime
has been committed and the person accused has committed that crime. Modern law has afforded
police officers an incentive to respect this amendment, known as the stop and frisk act. The Stop

Sokolow begins the article by introducing us to Leo Tolstoy, and Russian who is not pleased with
the idea of art at the time. He explains how Tolstoy went back to his adolescent learnings and used
the eighteenth century for his inspiration. He was able to do this because growing up he spent his

Russiaduring his time, so it makes since that Tolstoy had easy access to his works. Tolstoy read

How To Build Acropolis In Greek Art
All around the world, Greek styles in architecture and art have been imitated; the most influential of
these were Doric, Ionic and Corinthian rhythm. Greek style dates back to the Neolithic Age,
beginning in 10,200 BC. Throughout the thousands of years since then, Greek temples and
structures have been destroyed, repaired, and reconstructed. The Plaka District, the oldest section in
Athens, is home to traditional restaurants, shops, and cafes, and, with mainly pedestrian streets, it
is easy to travel through the whole place. Plaka s main street is known to be the most ancient street
to be still in active use. This would mean that characters like Alexander the Great and Socrates
would have walked on the same street. Although some of the district s... Show more content on

The structure hosted festivals and historically significant events during Athens power. Rising 490
feet in the air, the Acropolis covers approximately 7 acres and has four main buildings: the
Propylaia, the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, and the Temple of AthenaNike.
In 447 BCE, construction began under the guidance of Pericles of Athens. To build the Parthenon,
the best architects and sculptors were hired, among which was Phidias, who created the statue of
Zeus at Olympia. Phidias produced the statue of Athena made out of gold and ivory, which resided
in Acropolis until it was destroyed.
During the Roman Emperor Hadrian s rule, the Acropolis was expanded. Then, after Constantine
the Great, the Parthenon became a Christian church, following with a destruction of Pagan images.
Once the Roman empire and the Byzantine Empire fell to the Turks, the Acropolis was turned into
a mosque. The Parthenon had been used to house garrison troop headquarters. In 1821, after the
Greek war of Independence, the residents began to repair the damage created by neglect and ill use
from the Turks and the selling of materials to the British Museum in

Martin Scorsese s The Aviator
Howard Hughes in his last two decades fixed himself far from the world. At first, he frequented a
penthouse in Las Vegas, and after that, he moved to a cottage behind the Beverly Hills Hotel.
He was the world s wealthiest man, and with his billions purchased himself a room he never left.
His life was an excursion to that forlorn room. In any case, he took the long path around: As a
rich young fellow from Texas, the beneficiary to his dad s fortune, he made motion pictures,
purchased carriers, was a playboy who dated Hollywood s renowned wonders. On the off chance
that he had passed on in one of the plane accidents he survived, he would have been recognized as
a brilliant kid. Martin Scorsese s The Aviator focuses on the best years, in spite... Show more

Essay on No Blood Transfusion for Jehovah s Witnesses
Jehovah s witnesses faith allows them to seek medical help; however, they do not accept blood
transfusions. This belief arises from a biblical passage that states Only flesh with its soul its
blood you must not eat (Genesis 9:3 4), You must not eat the blood of any sort of flesh, because the
soul of every sort of flesh is its blood. I will set my face against that person who eats
blood...Anyone eating it will be cut off (Leviticus 17:10, 13 14). These passages are interpreted by
Jehovah s witnesses as forbidding the transfusion of any blood products. The following presentation
will address legal and ethical issues that can arise from this scenario.

Jehovah s Witnesses respect their religion and their beliefs and many strongly adhere to them
because of the many consequences that they may face. Jehovah s Witness believe that if they
accept blood products, they will suffer severe consequences. Some of the consequences Jehovah s
Witness believe they will encounter include lack of spiritual purpose, relationship with God will
be damaged and they will be expelled from their congregation (Jehovah s Witnesses, 2000). Many
parents face the worse decision when a child is involved.
The following scenario explores the legal and ethical decisions involved with a pediatric patient.
A six year old boy suffering from Sickle cell anemia is brought to the hospital with a crisis.
During a sickle cell anemia crisis, red blood cells are damaged and they are unable to deliver
oxygen to the body. The standard treatment is oxygen, hydration, blood replacements and exchange
transfusion (Anita, 2006). The pediatric patient was admitted in critical condition and a blood
transfusion is necessary. Parents stated they want to save their child and will accept any type of
treatment except for blood products.
Adults have the right to refuse any type of treatment including blood products. Nurses are there to
support and advocate for the patient and to assist and support the patient when other methods of
treatment are chosen. Parents with full custody

The Structural Analysis Of Extreme Learning Machine ( ELM )
Extreme Learning Machine (ELM)
Extreme Learning Machine is a feedforward neural network for the regression, sparse
approximation, feature learning, compression, clustering and for classification with a single or
multi layers of hidden nodes in which the parameters are randomly generated and they are need
not be changed. The hidden nodes are assigned randomly and are never updated. But they can be
inherited from their ancestors. In many cases the output weights of hidden nodes are generally
learned in a single layer which is essential for learning a linear model.
First, the ELM was proposed for the single hidden layer feedforward neural network (SLFN),
which was then changed to single hidden layer feedforward network, since the hidden nodes ...

An important step in ELM is to п¬Ѓnd the output weights . It is solved by reducing the training
error and also the rule of the output weights. If the norms of weights and training error are smaller,
then the generalization performance of SLFNs tends to get better.
The main function can be termed as .
To solve the above problem, smallest norm least square method is used. where, is the Moore
Penrose generalized inverse of matrix Q.
Several methods are there to calculate such as orthogonalization method, orthogonal projection
method, Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) method and the iterative method.
The orthogonal projection approach can be utilized efficiently in two cases. One is when is
nonsingular and the other is when is nonsingular. On the basis of Ridge Regression Theory, the
generalization function and the stability of SLFN can be enhanced by adding a positive value to
the diagonal of or .Using this method can be computed as follows, when is nonsingular, when is
nonsingular,

The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living Analysis
In order to talk about Socrates claim that the unexamined life is not worth living a person first has
to understand the context that it was used in. In the Apology, Socrates used that phrase when he
was in trial for corrupting the youth. The court was allowing him to counter their punishment of
death and suggest a different punishment. After ruling out all other forms of punishment, Socrates
says this and he is therefore, sentenced to death. Both the author of the Apology, Plato, and Socrates
became renowned philosophers of their time. A more current philosopher is John Dewey, he is
known for his book Democracy and Education. In this book, Dewey talks about how philosophyis
directly and indirectly related to education. The ambiguity of... Show more content on

I would never say that these people s lives aren t worth living, if anything, we should strive to be
more like them in the way that they act. In my opinion it doesn t matter how much you examine
your life or if you even examine it all, what I think matters in the end is how happy a person is. If
they are content with their life without questioning everything, then that is fine. In this world,
not everyone has the privilege to examine their life. It is not a necessity to examine your life. It
is something that very few people can do, and I think that if a person is able to do it, then they
should. They might discover something new, they might learn something. It could be like turning
on a light for some, while for others, it might only make the light a little brighter. I also realize
that there are some subjects that a person might not want to thoroughly examine. Whether the
subject is religion or science, some people are perfectly content with what they know and have
no desire to learn more about the particular subject. Do I think that their life isn t worth living
because they are happy with what they know? No I do not, I think that their life is still worth
living. I think that people who are able to examine their life should do so if they choose, but they
also have the right to say how much or how little they examine. I think that overall, this claim came
from a desperate

Ethnic Conflicts And Its Effects On Post Colonial Societies
Today, it is hard to imagine how only sixty years ago the world was dominated by European
empires. In 1921, 84 percent of the earth s surface had been colonised since the sixteenth century.
There were as many as 168 colonies. By the 1960s, after years of fighting, most Western colonial
territories had gained independence. The following decades showed how much the ghost of
colonisation still loomed over post colonial societies though. Around the world today, conflict is
found in many areas that were once colonised or controlled by Western European powers. The cause
of many of these continuing and uncontrollable conflicts lies in past colonial policies, especially
those regarding territorial boundaries, the treatment of indigenous people, the privileging of some
groups over others, the unequal distribution of wealth and resources, local governmental
infrastructures, and the formation of non democratic or non participatory governmental systems. It
is therefore essential, if one wants to understand the causes of these ethnic conflicts, to examine not
only the contemporary issues, but also important historical factors such as past colonial policies and
their lingering effects. Colonisation was motivated by the European hunger for African resources.
The subsequent exploitation of the African people and the uprooting of their spiritual values by
Christian missionaries would leave a permanent European stamp on the continent. Colonial states
often promoted ethnic rivalry by

My Experience At My Life
September 14th, 2011, the last day I have in Manado, Indonesia. My family and friends were in
the airport, waiting for me, while I was checking in my luggage. When I went back, all of my
friends were standing and smiling at me. I know they were sad, but they tried to cover it with
their smile. I gave each one of them a t shirt that has writing about them, and they gave me the
same thing. We talked, laughed, and joked around until it was time for me to go. Tears were
falling down on their cheeks, when they heard that it was time for me to go. I gave my family and
friends a hug, and went to the terminal. My journey started, when I got in to the airplane. It was a
long long journey, I thought, because it took hours to get to Los Angeles. I was excited at first, but
then sad again when I think about home. I was crying while I was on the airplane, thinking, how
my life is going to be in Harbert Hills. I had some stops. The first stop was at Changi Airport,
Singapore. We have to stay there for a night, until the next flight (the next day). The airport is
really nice and clean. They have free internet, a free place to rest, and it is very safe too, so I do
not have to worry about my suit case. I was on the computer most of the night, checking my e
mails and Facebook. I could not sleep that night, because I was thinking about my life at home,
and again, how is it going to be in Harbert Hills. The second stop was at Narita Airport, Tokyo,
Japan. It was only 45

  • 2. Autistic Friendly Space Essay 715 Designing the Space for Autism According to the Center for Disease Control, one in sixty eight American children are diagnosed with autism. Those with autism are highly sensitive to sight, sound, as well as touch and this can make it difficult for individuals on the spectrum to function within an enclosed space. Finding the right balance is key when designing an autistic friendly space, as autistic individuals can have a strong aversion to change. Having too flexible of an environment can invoke fear if the environment is always changing. It is important, when designing for autism, to offer both flexibility and variety and be sensitive to sensation and stimulus. Since autistic individuals perceive lighting, colors, and patterns differently, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Strike a balance between having large, open spaces and offering small, intimate spaces. By offering variety, you allow for flexibility and can more easily accommodate the needs and sensitivities of each autistic individual. 2.Autistic individuals are also sensitive to the feel of physical objects, and while this sensitivity varies from person to person, you can strike a happy medium by favoring the use of natural materials and textiles. Lean more towards the use of wood, rubber, wool, porcelain, cork, and rubber. 3.Keep in the mind the acoustics, as for many autistic individuals this can be distracting and over stimulating. The hum of fluorescent lighting, the sound of an air conditioning or heating unit, the sound of someone eating, footsteps, or even hearing multiple forms of sound at once can be maddening, distracting, and can even cause pain. Many autistic individuals suffer from headaches and can become agitated when they are inundated with multiple forms of sound. 4.Provide withdrawal, or isolation, spaces where one can go to re center when they have become over stimulated and overwhelmed. It is also important to design these rooms to be as soundproof as possible, so the elimination of ambient sound can become ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Nazi Regime Of Adolf Hitler At Auschwitz Birkenau... 1.1 million. That is the number of people exterminated by the Nazi regime of Adolph Hitler at Auschwitz Birkenau death camp between 1940 45. (Auschwitz Birkenau museum online) The raw number itself absolutely staggering, too large for any human being to wrap their minds around. It is a large enough number to inspire skepticism, disbelief, and outrage. To this day, decades after the fact, there are still those who deny that any of it ever happened because the numbers are just too big. It is better to think of this tragedy in more personal terms: as in 1.1 million families physically ripped apart, 1.1 million dreams snuffed out, and untold numbers of survivors left scared forever. Human faces need to be attached to the raw numbers, or else the numbers become a point of data, something which can be spun to serve up moral or political advantage in today s society. We must remember what happened in Auschwitz Birkenau, and the other Nazi concentration camps. All of humanity must remember or we are surely doomed to one day repeat this dark chapter in our history. The history of the Jewish people is littered with tales of religious based violence, state organized pogroms, and forced evictions. American jewish parents have taken the old rhyme: Columbus sailed the Ocean Blue in 1492 , and added the words and the Jews were kicked out too! in order to memorialize the Jews exile from Spain during the Catholic Church s Inquisition. • 5. Why Was There a Struggle Between the Bourgeoisie and the... Why, according to Marx and Engels in The Manifesto of the Communist Party, was there inevitably struggle between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat, which would create the preconditions for socialism? ___________________ The theories of Karl Marx have influenced some of the world s greatest thinkers. Marx s idea of the inevitable class struggle within capitalism and consequent place for a socialist society is professed within The Manifesto of the Communist Party. It is necessary to explore why Marx and Engels believed class conflict to be unavoidable in order to understand why the preconditions for socialism could be established. It is clear that economics is at the heart of Marxist thought and it can be arguably suggested that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nature of capitalism meant the bourgeoisie needed to exploit their workers in order to make a surplus. If they didn t do this they would fall themselves into the proletariat and their employees would work for someone who would. This made the situation of the proletariat all the more dire. Marx expressed this view when he defined the proletariat as a class of labourers, who live only so long as they find work, and who find work only so long as their labour increases capital (page 8). This meant that the chances of a proletariat had to advance into a higher economic class were reduced and a further polarisation of classes would develop. This meant that a class struggle was inevitable if one views Marx s theory as one of group formation as is explored by Reinhard Bendix in his study of Marx. Bendix suggests that in Marx s view ruling classes are aware of their common interests and have the organizational means to promote them, while oppressed classes still seek to achieve class consciousness and organizational cohesion. Hence due to a lack of class consciousness the proletariat continue to struggle. This was inevitable, according to Bendix view of Marx, due to the nature of the oppressed classes. A similar idea that causes inevitable class conflict mentioned again by Bendix is that a lack of acquaintance and competing interests divided the workers amongst them selves. In general, the development of studies on bureaucracy and organizational theory has gone through the period of classical theory to modern theory, and from modern theory to the advent of post modernism and post positivism. In terms of organizational theories, there are at least two main streams at that time can be identified. The first is managerialism, including scientific management and human relation school. Basically, both focused on management strategies. Nevertheless, one focused on principles of management for formal organizations, the other cares more about psychological status and informal organizations. For scientific management, the founding father is Frederick Taylors (1912) who employed scientific methods, like natural science, to measure working loadings and should be working times for increasing efficiency and developing a fair payments systems. Under his guidance, Gulick (1937) and Urwick (1945) make efforts to propose several principles of organizational operations and design. The most famous one would be POSDCORB introduced by Gulick. On the other hand, Elton Mayor (1930), as conducting the Hawthorne experiment, found the benign presence of researchers would boost productivities, instead of changes in facilities in factories. Near Field Communication ( Nfc ) NFC Report Name Date Near field communication (NFC) Near field communication (NFC) is a set of protocols that allow communication between two electronic devices. Most commonly this technology is used for communication between portable devices like smartphones. Even though it is a contact less system of communication, it requires that the devices are within 4 cm or 1.57 inch distance from each other (Carter Faulkner, 2015). Basically, this technology relies on creating a low speed connection between the devices which has a very simple setting up procedure. It has found application in a vast variety of applications, ranging from contact less payment from credit and debit cards as well as the smartphone based payment techniques, to the social networking applications as well, where media and contact information can be shared wirelessly between devices. NFC technology has also found application for identity related documents and keycards. • 11. Fensive Cost Of Defense The Offensive Cost of Defense The United States spends far more than any other country on defense and security with no end in sight to their expenditures. The total military spending by the United States is nearly equal to the combined military spending of every other nation combined. This unreasonable amount of spending hinders the capacity to provide basic needs, as well as eliminating money that can be used to resolve other domestic issues, while at the same time allowing for short term economic prosperity and increasing our national defense capacity. The United Statesmilitary spending accounts for nearly 54% of federal discretionary spending. Of the $1.1 trillion in discretionary spending in the United States, military spending accounts for the widest amount of spending with $598.5 billion being spent, roughly 54%. The section of federal discretionary spending that was even remotely close to the money spent on the military is the federal discretionary spending that the government accrued at just under $73 billion which accounts for only 6% of the $1.1 trillion in discretionary spending. • 13. The Legacy Of World War I Retired venture capitalist Gregg Bemis owns the salvage rights to the Lusitania and he thinks he can solve the 100 year old mystery of why it sank so quickly. His biggest obstacle: The Irish government, which has fought him for years over his plans to explore the wreck. It was a kiss Gregg Bemis will never forget. It happened in 2004. Bemis, 76 years old at the time, was wrapped in diving gear, floating at the bottom of the Irish Sea. He took out his mouthpiece, knelt carefully on a slab of encrusted steel, and planted a fervent if wet smooch on the hull of the Lusitania the elegant passenger ship that was sunk by a German submarine in 1915, 100 years ago this week, in one of the pivotal moments of World War I. And Ireland s cultural officials view the ship as a combination historic monument and cemetery, a fragile archaeological site that could be desecrated if Bemis s efforts to solve the mystery of its doom involve physically altering its remains. In the battle between preservation and property rights, preservation is currently winning: Bemis has been unable to convince the government to let him explore his ship his way. And the current dispute is just the latest in a series of legal battles that has enmeshed Bemis and the Lusitania for almost 30 years. Bemis has won some fights and lost others; along the way he s become a minor celebrity in Ireland, thanks to coverage of his lawsuits and his knack for colorful, unsparing criticism of the country s cultural mandarins. Even one of his own attorneys says that Bemis can come across as an undiplomatic pain in the ass, and Bemis is proudly unapologetic about that. To authorities insistence that their only priority is to protect the Lusitania, Bemis replies: Protect it from what? • 15. Article V, Vii, And Viii Of The Augsburg Confession Article V, VII, and VIII of the Augsburg Confession Article V states that through the ministry of teaching the gospel and administering the sacraments, believers can obtain the concept of justification. As article V states, For through the Word and the Sacraments as through instruments the Holy Spirit is given, who effects faith where and when it pleases God in those who hear the Gospel, that is to say, in those who hear that God, not on account of our own merits but on account of Christ, justifies those who believe that they are received into grace on account of Christ (AC V: 2,3; Kolb and Wengert: 41), it teaches that justification is given to those who hear the gospel. This is a missiological implication to the ministry of the church, so people can hear the gospel and they can be received into grace on account of Christ. Hartenstein argues that article V, VII, and VIII of the Augsburg Confession are inseparably connected in order to answer how missionary service should be conducted. His first argument refers to the words of preaching and sees that article V suggests on how the proclamation of the words depends on the office of the church. As he notes, The proclamation of the mighty message, which occurs between heaven and earth, is about creation and redemption and completion of the world and can only be carried out by those who have been especially assigned to such a task, who have totally committed themselves to God, and who are prepared to proclaim on behalf of ... Racial Tension Between Black And White Americans Jenifer Coderko History 7B Professor Matthews November 11 2014 Essay 4 The term The Negro Problem was used throughout the 1950 s and 60 s as a slang description of the racial tension between black and white Americans. The two essays in The Fire Next Time talk about the problem that the African Americancommunity faced, but from different perspectives. The author is writing to his nephew and is trying to make him understand that the situation is intolerable and not likely to change. He suggests that instead of reacting from a place of anger and hate, that the nephew should fight and strive to change the situation rather than confronting it violently. Majoring in the Ballet Program was the path I was so positive that would lead me to my future job after college. But after getting settled into college and moving out of state my mind set on the path I had chosen changed. In April of 2011 my senior year of high school I had visited Friends University during my Spring Break. Honestly, I was not at all excited to visit the campus. Living in Chicago, IL all my life, the thought of going to school in Kansas did not spark my interest. Once I arrived on campus my attitude on how I felt changed. The first thing I ... I knew that I enjoyed dancing, but was unsure if I wanted to major in that field. Realizing the struggle a ballet dancer has to live every day to survive in this world made me think twice that I just did not have the dedication that is needed to be a professional in a Ballet Company. When I thought of the jobs after college in the field of Zoo Science it made me happy to think about. Even though working in a Zoo or some type of job similar to that would take a lot of dedication and effort, it made me smile. Thinking over and over about my tough decision made me see that I was just tired of ballet and it is not that I didn t love ballet; I was just tired of consuming my whole life for it. My heart was telling that I wanted and needed to explore something new in my life. After making my decision that switching my major to Zoo Science would be a better career path. I felt happy again returning back at Friends after Thanksgiving break. I knew exactly what I wanted to tell my advisor in Ballet. Telling Sharon the news that I felt switching my major to Zoo Science from Ballet was what would make me happy for my future after college was a huge stress reliever. • 40. Social Media Issues In America The United States of America is widely known as the greatest country in the world. But is it really just that? Different researchers and their studies have proved this statement wrong. The obsession over social media, lack of individuality, and the dating culture within America is simply morbid. While many of these issues particularly pertain to millennials, they all can be applied to every age of life. Society needs to fix and change these issues before they turn astronomical and irreversible. Social media has corrupted the lives of the newer generation. It is no secret that technology has taken over the world by storm. While some technological advances have helped America, most have done the exact opposite. In discussions of social media ... Lip injections, liposuctions, and expensive brands are on the rise now more than ever. It seems as if no one wants to be themselves any more, and it is seemingly appalling. The lack of individuality begins at a very young age in this generation. Otherwise known as peer pressure , children are expected to choose to either be like everyone else, or make their own decisions and be a loner. In a scholarly article, BlГ¶te, Miers, and Westenburg came to the conclusion that The link between social anxiety and substance us in adolescence may be partly explained by susceptibility to peer pressure (BlГ¶te, Miers, Westenburg 2016, p.6). Peer pressure and lack of individuality starts at a young age, yet does not stop for what seems like forever. Pop culture today has a fixation with being just like everyone else. But why does everyone want to be like everyone else? Why is it so fascinating and enticing to be just like person next door? A researcher, Alex Pentland, came up with a conclusion as to why people think this way. He ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 47. The Structural Analysis Of Extreme Learning Machine ( ELM ) Extreme Learning Machine (ELM) Extreme Learning Machine is a feedforward neural network for the regression, sparse approximation, feature learning, compression, clustering and for classification with a single or multi layers of hidden nodes in which the parameters are randomly generated and they are need not be changed. The hidden nodes are assigned randomly and are never updated. But they can be inherited from their ancestors. In many cases the output weights of hidden nodes are generally learned in a single layer which is essential for learning a linear model. First, the ELM was proposed for the single hidden layer feedforward neural network (SLFN), which was then changed to single hidden layer feedforward network, since the hidden nodes ... To solve the above problem, smallest norm least square method is used. where, is the Moore Penrose generalized inverse of matrix Q. Several methods are there to calculate such as orthogonalization method, orthogonal projection method, Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) method and the iterative method. The orthogonal projection approach can be utilized efficiently in two cases. One is when is nonsingular and the other is when is nonsingular. On the basis of Ridge Regression Theory, the generalization function and the stability of SLFN can be enhanced by adding a positive value to the diagonal of or .Using this method can be computed as follows, when is nonsingular, when is nonsingular, Galactic Swarm Optimization Algorithm The original PSO algorithm was developed by Kennedy and Eberhart. After ruling out all other forms of punishment, Socrates says this and he is therefore, sentenced to death. I would never say that these people s lives aren t worth living, if anything, we should strive to be more like them in the way that they act. In my opinion it doesn t matter how much you examine your life or if you even examine it all, what I think matters in the end is how happy a person is. If they are content with their life without questioning everything, then that is fine. In this world, not everyone has the privilege to examine their life. It is not a necessity to examine your life. It is something that very few people can do, and I think that if a person is able to do it, then they should. They might discover something new, they might learn something. It could be like turning on a light for some, while for others, it might only make the light a little brighter. I also realize that there are some subjects that a person might not want to thoroughly examine. Whether the subject is religion or science, some people are perfectly content with what they know and have no desire to learn more about the particular subject. Do I think that their life isn t worth living because they are happy with what they know? No I do not, I think that their life is still worth living. • 49. Ethnic Conflicts And Its Effects On Post Colonial Societies Today, it is hard to imagine how only sixty years ago the world was dominated by European empires. In 1921, 84 percent of the earth s surface had been colonised since the sixteenth century. There were as many as 168 colonies. By the 1960s, after years of fighting, most Western colonial territories had gained independence. The following decades showed how much the ghost of colonisation still loomed over post colonial societies though. Around the world today, conflict is found in many areas that were once colonised or controlled by Western European powers. The cause of many of these continuing and uncontrollable conflicts lies in past colonial policies, especially those regarding territorial boundaries, the treatment of indigenous people, the privileging of some groups over others, the unequal distribution of wealth and resources, local governmental infrastructures, and the formation of non democratic or non participatory governmental systems. It is therefore essential, if one wants to understand the causes of these ethnic conflicts, to examine not only the contemporary issues, but also important historical factors such as past colonial policies and their lingering effects. Colonisation was motivated by the European hunger for African resources. The subsequent exploitation of the African people and the uprooting of their spiritual values by Christian missionaries would leave a permanent European stamp on the continent.
