Walmart pays significantly higher audit fees than Target or Costco, spending over $20 million annually to audit its massive global operations compared to around $4 million for each of the other companies; while Target and Costco's fees have remained relatively stable in recent years, Walmart's fees have increased substantially as it has expanded internationally through acquisitions and new stores opening. Walmart's audit requires verification of financial statements across dozens of countries, explaining its much higher audit costs compared to the other two retailers which operate primarily within North America.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2. How is Beowulf an Epic Hero
Every epic hero possesses certain heroic characteristics. The epic poem Beowulf describes the most
heroic man of the Anglo Saxon times. Beowulf is the hero. He shows that he is a great man by always
putting other things before his own needs. He is important and needed by his people and is known by
many as a strong, courageous and a helpful person. He shows all of the qualities and traits that a true
hero possesses.
Beowulf, like other epic heroes, possesses the following heroic qualities: epic heroes are superhuman
types of beings. They show great bravery, intelligence, strength and resourcefulness. They have a
strong admiration for the values of their society. They are dominant male figures and suffer severe
pain, but in the end, they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This shows Beowulf s strength, courage and fearlessness. Through this it is evident that he possess
courageous traits.
Beowulf s strength is exemplified many times in the story. Beowulf was said to have the strength of
thirty men in his mighty handgrip. He fought in numerous battles and returned victorious from all but
his last. In his argument with Unferth, Beowulf explains the reason he lost a swimming match with his
opponent Brecca. Not only had Beowulf been swimming for seven nights, he had also stopped to kill
nine sea creatures in the depths of the ocean. Beowulf is also strong enough to kill the monster
Grendel with his bare hands by ripping off his arm. When Beowulf is fighting Grendel s mother, he is
able to slay her by slashing the monster s neck with a giant sword that can only be lifted by a person
as strong as Beowulf. When he chops off her head, he carries it from the ocean with no difficulty, but
it takes four men to lift and carry it back to Heorot. This strength is a key trait of Beowulf s heroism.
Another heroic trait of Beowulf is his ability to put his people s welfare before his own. Beowulf s
uncle is king of the Geats so he is sent to help kill Grendel. His actions toward Grendel show that he is
willing to help others. In an epic it is usually found that the hero often determines the fate of a nation
or group of people. He uses his super human physical strength

3. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Scenario...
With the global economy developed, organizations have to live in a more complex and changeable
environment, making decision according to various factors that could make a difference, such as
technology, environment, regulation and policy etc. The ability to adapt changes and deal with future
possibility is vital for organizations to survive in a world changes rapidly. However, it seems to be not
sufficient to use traditional approaches of strategy in such highly uncertain, intensive and complex
competitive environment (Celeste Amorim Varum, 2010). Scenario planning is another tool that has
gained much attention during the last decades as an effective tool for sorting future uncertainties and
investigating assumptions in organizations (P. Schwartz, 1991).

We all know that future cannot be predicted even the weather forecast, which based on accurate data,
is not that precise sometimes. Scenario planning provides a solution for organizations to develop in
uncertainty by assuming various possibilities about future and help people to make a better decision or
plan accordingly.
In my opinion, there are three advantages of scenario planning which made it become widely used by
organizations in the process of decision making. Firstly, scenario planning can improve the decision
making mechanism and activate the managing system, improving the decision making with a more
scientific and interactive process. TAIDA™ is a primary model for scenario planning. Hundreds of
scenario projects have been carried out on the basis of the model in the past decade (Mats Lindgren,
2003). TAIDA is short for five steps below: Tracking: trace changes and signs of threats and
opportunities by clarifying future trend; Analyzing: analyze consequences of the changes and

4. The Pros And Cons Of American Prisons
What is prison? To the public, prison is a place for only the most truly evil people in the country.
However, contrary to popular belief, some prisons in the U.S. are not as nearly as bad as some of the
others. In other words, not all prisons are created equally. The conditions of some American prisons
are horrendous. Two grown averaged sized men are being crammed into a six by eight foot concrete
cage ( Minncor Industries ). Keep in mind, that dimension includes the bed frames, toilet, sink, and
sometimes a desk as well. When the prisoner has to use the bathroom, he is exposed in front of his
cellmate and anyone who is in the hallway. Many would describe these conditions as unacceptable and
cruel, when others would call them necessary. While these conditions certainly are not the most

Prisons are not built to be comfortable they are meant to be safe. They house criminals, people who
deserve to be there for one reason or another. Funding is also an issue for prisons, so they have to
make do with what they are given. Admittedly it is rather uncomfortable to use the bathroom while
someone is watching, there are more restrooms in the detention center. They at least try to make the
inmates comfortable. Think about it, they get ok mattresses, sheets, pillows, and blankets, even warm
clothing. They didn t have to give them that, especially when some really do not deserve the slightest
shred of kindness. The conditions in these prisons are good enough to sustain human life and keep the
inmates detained, like they were designed to do. Some americans believe that prison conditions are
unacceptable and inappropriate, while others would think

5. Greatest Scientific Discoveries
Antibiotics Antibiotics transformed medicine. The discovery of antibiotics began by accident. On the
morning of September 3rd, 1928, Professor Alexander Fleming was having a clear up of his cluttered
laboratory. Fleming was sorting through a number of glass plates which had previously been coated
with staphyloccus bacteria as part of research Fleming was doing. One of the plates had mould on it.
The mould was in the shape of a ring and the area around the ring seemed to be free of the bacteria
staphyloccus. Further research on the mould found that it could kill other bacteria and that it could be
given to small animals without any side effects. However, within a year, Fleming had moved onto
other medical issues and it was ten years later ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They wanted to devise an inter networking system (or internet) whereby different networks could talk
to one another. Arpanet devised TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol). This was a
set of rules for communication between networks. The Internet became a network of networks. Only
the military stayed outside of this for security reasons. In 1988, there were 50,000 computers attached
to the Internet. By 1991, there were 1 million. However, it was difficult to access the information
contained on the Internet as the system had little organisation. This problem was solved by Tim
Berners Lee, a British scientist studying at a research facility in Switzerland. He invented a method of
organising information which he called the world wide web (www). His system linked documents
from different sources and guided users to related information. The www was first used by the public
in 1991 and it allowed the transfer of text, sound, images and video clips. Above all else, it was simple
to use. In 1998, 130 million people were using the Internet and the figure continues to grow annually.
The Jet Engine Sir Frank Whittle s jet engine transformed travel. The jet engine has allowed millions

jet engine goes to Sir Frank Whittle. In 1937 he

Russia s legislature approved the forced transfer of certain fields to government controlled firms. In
2006, Shell was forced to transfer an expansion project to Gazprom. That same year, concern over the
possible revocation of the license to the Kovykta gas field and Gazprom s ability to block construction
of a pipeline to China, forced TNK BP to sell its stake in the field. Gazprom purchased the stake for
less than a third of its real value. The Russian government had also been known to both privatize or
nationalize firms and rig auctions in order to favor government controlled corporations. Competitive
Risks The very nature of a joint venture lends itself to competitive risks. Competitive risks include: (1)
opportunistic behavior; (2) misrepresentation of competencies; (3) failures to make resources and
capabilities available; (4) failure to make alliance investments. The TNK BP joint venture must deal
with opportunistic behavior. Labor laws designed to limit the number of foreign nationals in top
positions in natural resource companies are being exploited by TNK BP. The Russian shareholders of
AAR are using the laws to limit the number of foreign managers and specialists working in Russia.
The ultimate goal is to place more Russians into top positions and to use the leverage provided by that
leadership to achieve AAR objectives. The main dispute revolves around whether TNK BP should be

7. Why Is Self Discipline Is Important, But Do We Really Need...
We already know that self discipline is important, but do we really need it?
We know about success tools, and we familiarize ourselves with many useful resources that lead us to
success, so why do we need self discipline?
We all have goals for many areas of our lives. Some of us want successful relationships, some like to
get more money, others want simply happiness in their lives and others seek better health with less
weight. These are common goals, and we sometimes fail or succeed in achieving them. The general
question is: Why we don t achieve those goals? Why we don t become successful in these goals?
The general answer is: Lack of self discipline.
Success needs time. It does not happen at once. What you do today will determine the results in your
future. If you change your present, you change your future. If you eat a lot of pizzas and delicious
food today, you will gain weight, and this will show in your future weight. If you spend more money
than what you earn today, you will have less money in the future.
Present steps determine future results.
Self discipline takes place in your present which will lead to your future.
You can learn many tips and tools for your goals, but unless you take action for these goals, you will
never become successful in reaching them. Almost all goals need efforts and continuity. Self discipline
will enable you to get required efforts and continuity. If you need to lose weight, you need self
discipline among other skills to eat

8. Glory In Oedipus At Colonus
In the last of his three Theban plays, Oedipus at Colonus, Sophocles examines the power relationship
and hierarchy between humans and gods, depicting and later asserting the control that gods have over
the fates of humans. Through the attempts and eventual failure of Oedipus to overthrow his
predestined fate to marry his mother and kill his father before the events of Oedipus at Colonus,
Sophocles establishes that humans have limited, if any, control over their lives, dictated by the higher
power of the gods. Thus, since life is limited, the impact and legacy of human life becomes
increasingly more significant. Evident in his consistent pursuit of glory and being remembered by
people even after falling from his former glory as king, Oedipus strives to establish a purpose and
meaning to his life in spite of the predetermined fate that the gods forced upon him. Glory, according
to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is defined as praise, honor, or distinction extended by common
consent. The aspect of glory that Oedipus seeks is the distinction or acknowledgement of his greatness
by the people as a whole, thus leaving an impactful legacy. Despite the fact that the length and fate of
one s life is predetermined by a power higher than oneself, the ultimate purpose of human life is to
leave behind a lasting impression on the world. Oedipus self reflection on his fall from glory and fame
serves to illustrate the consistently unfortunate fate that many mortals are subject to. Before

why he loved the color yellow. Yet, due to Van Gogh s extreme commitment to religion, and

Van Gogh s episodes were always followed by exhaustion, and depression, and eventually suicide
(Meier Graefe 46). Therefore, bipolar may be a logical reason of Van Gogh s mental condition.
Though, there may have been many arguments of Gogh s mental condition, there is still a final
agreement that throughout his Van Gogh still created intriguing art for the world to see. One of Van
Gogh s most famous paintings is The Starry Night. Although, Van Gogh sold only one painting in his
life, the aftermath of his work is enormous (Schapiro 31). Widely known as his greatest piece of work,
the painting has been reproduced several times and is one of his most famous paintings. Van Gogh
however, was not satisfied with this painting, in a letter to his brother Theo from Saint Remy he states,

The audit fees for these three companies can be compared in numerous ways. First, they can be

other hand, Microsoft had the least amount of total revenue but paid the highest amount in audit fees.
Also, Apple Inc. had the median amount of revenue but paid the least amount in audit fees. When
looking at the total assets, there is an inverse relationship between the amount of assets and the audit
fees paid. Apple Inc. had the largest amount of total assets but paid the least amount in audit fees. On
the other hand, Microsoft had the least amount of total assets but paid the most in audit fees. Finally,
Walmart had the median amount of total assets and paid the median amount in fees. Comparing the

inverse relationship. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Landlord Tenant Law

Professor Francis Hatstat

Q. 1.Explore the legal rights and responsibilities of the tenant and the landlord.
Tenant landlord law
The federal registration as well the state property laws lays out the laws surrounding both the tenant
and the landlord. Houses, mobile homes, apartments, are governed property laws. These laws are
documented in the Landlord and Tenant Acts 1967 to 1994, Residential Tenancies (Amendment) as
well as Residential Tenancies Act 2004. These laws do not cover tenants who have rented a room in
the landlord s home. Despite the fact that leases and agreements are agreed upon by the customer and
the client, they cannot be take away the rights under the legislation. Both the tenants and landlords
have both rights and obligations (Dowden,2014).
Rights of a tenant
A tenant has a right to enjoy a quiet and exclusive home. A tenant can ask the other tenants to reduce
noise, if it is disturbing, and if this is not stopped, he can file a formal complaint.
Every tenant is entitled to a minimum accommodation standard. For example, the landlord must
ensure that the property is under proper structural repair. The property should be in a proper state
including doors, stairs, tiles etc. All the areas must be maintained in good condition and repair and
must not be defective due to dumpiness. Equipment and machines under laundry, food preparation and
food storage should be availed. Some of these are

13. The Danger Of A Single Story Analysis
Popular culture is often a reflection of society; both literature and the media have the capacity to
cement ideas in the minds of readers and viewers. In many cases, the notions and stories glorified by
the media refrain from sharing a true depiction of society and are narrow minded in their focus.
Recently, the feminist movement has denounced popular culture for its ignorance, fighting for a more
realistic portrait to be painted by those with the power to reach millions. Specifically, both Roxane
Gay s Bad Feminist and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s The Danger of a Single Story share how the
classic gender stereotypes seen in popular culture are unable to capture the full spectrum of stories that
define society, and are limiting in their portrayals of women. Moreover, both authors share personal
stories, reference prominent world figures, and cite relevant statistics in their works. Therefore, in both
Bad Feminist and The Danger of a Single Story , Roxane Gay and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie appeal
to readers pathos, logos, and ethos in order to construct the argument that the single story of women in
popular culture is stereotypical and restrictive. Within her collection of essays, Roxane Gay uses
personal anecdotes that appeal to reader s pathos, constructing her argument that women are
misrepresented and generalized in popular culture by providing an emotional tether upon which
readers can latch on. For example, Gay writes of her experiences as a struggling adolescent

14. Constructivist Teachers And Teaching Philosophy
Teachers who have a constructivist basis for their philosophy of teaching and learning are seldom
satisfied to use textbooks alone. Constructivists know that students must have motivation to search for
meaning and create their own understanding of the world of ideas. When students want to know more
about an idea, a topic, or an entire discipline, they put more cognitive energy into classroom
investigations and discussions and study more on their own. There are five identified central tenets of
constructivism as a teaching philosophy: Constructivist teachers seek and value students points of
view. This concept is similar to the reflective action process we call withitness, in which teachers
attempt to perceive students needs and respond to them appropriately; Constructivist teachers
challenge students to see different points of view and thereby construct new knowledge. Learning
occurs when teachers ask students what they think they know about a subject and why they think they
know it; Constructivist teachers recognize that curricula must have meaning for students. When
students see the relevance of curricula, their interest in learning grows; Constructivist teachers create
lessons that tackle big ideas, not small bits of information. By seeing the whole first, students are able
to determine how the parts fit together; Constructivist teachers assess student learning in daily
classroom activities, not through the use of separate testing or evaluation events. Students

reaches from almost as low as 1290 feet up to 1335 feet (Keane, 2015). Due to this variance in
elevation, there is slightly more of a difference in soil qualities from higher to lower. The primary soil
type present is Benfield with some Dwight Irwin Complex occurring in the lowest elevations (USDA,
2015). The Benfield soil in this ecosystem is still relatively shallow with the A Horizon reaching a
depth of 10 feet and the next horizon, Bt1 reaching only another 9 feet down. The parent material for
Benfield is pedisediment over residuum weathered from shale, allowing for smaller clay particles to
form. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the Dwight Irwin soil has more of a deeper, moister quality. Benfield and Dwight Irwin soils
do allow for more species richness than other lower elevated ecosystems but due to the drier soils,
Little Bluestem is still the most dominant plant recorded. The dominance of Little Bluestem extends
down to the lowest boundaries of the ecosystem, indicating that the soil conditions do stay relatively
consistent, despite the change in soil type. This allows Little Bluestem to again be the dominant plant
species component. The drier qualities of the upper Benfield soil combine with the slightly moister
qualities of the lower Dwight Irwin soil to give the Dry Mesic classification. These soil moisture
content qualities, the location of this ecosystem along side slopes, and the consistent dominance of the
Little Bluestem plant species allows this ecosystem to be classified as Little Bluestem Dry

Fig. 3. Edgar Dale s Cone of Learning Experience
Dale s Cone of Experience is a model that incorporates several theories related to instructional design
and learning processes, according to Anderson (2006), In the 1960s, Edgar Dale theorized that learners
retain more information by what they do as opposed to what is heard , read, or observed . His research
led to the development of the Cone of Experience. Today, this learning by doing has become known as
experiential learning or action learning .
. As reflected in Dale s research, the most effective methods involve direct, purposeful learning
experiences, such as hands on or field experience. Whereas, the least effective methods involve
learning from information presented through verbal symbols, like, listening to spoken words.
Direct purposeful experiences represent reality or the closest things to real, everyday life. The cone

18. Socrates Unjust Man
Throughout The Republic, Plato tries to paint a picture of a just man and an unjust man. Socrates is
constantly challenged at both ends of the topic. Answering to the challenges Socrates describes an
unjust man as happy on paper, and a just man happy and content in their soul. An unjust man in
Socrates view is a rich man. An unjust man is only happy on paper but is that real happiness. An
unjust man always wants more than he can obtain, and tries to gain it, when he cannot he is
disappointed. An unjust man will be mean with their own money... but they ll love to spend other
people s because of their appetites. Plato divides the soul into two sections reason, spirit/indignation
and appetites/desires. The unjust person lets his indignation and desires rule and keeps reason on the
sideline. Once one of those takes place of reason, the man is in a state of chaos and starts behaving
unjustly. The more the appetite grows the more unhappy he becomes, being subjected to his desires.
Socrates goes on to explain an unjust man by comparing different societies and shows how they all
start from a just society. However, they become corrupted. This is explained while Socrates describes
the transformation from a Timocracy government to an Oligarchy. Socrates explains how if a person
were to proceed further into money making, the more they value it, and the more they would be
enslaved by it. Furthermore, Plato saves the worst society for last, Tyranny. Some people may

SALESF0RCE.COM:
SOFTWARE AS A SERVICE GOES MAINSTREAM
Salesforce.com has been considered one of the most disruptive technology companies of the past few
years and is credited with single handedly shaking up the software industry with its innovative
business model and resounding success. This company provides CRM solutions in the form of
software as a service leased over the Internet, as opposed to software bought and installed on
machines locally. It was founded in 1999 by former Oracle executive Marc Benioff, and has since
grown to 2,600 employees and earned $748 million in revenue in 2007.

However, it s still too soon to tell whether this prediction will turn out to be true. Salesforce faces
significant challenges as it continues to grow and refine its business.
The first challenge comes from increased competition, both from traditional industry leaders and new
challengers hoping to replicate Salesforce s success. Microsoft, SAP, and Oracle have rolled out
subscription based versions of their CRM products in response to Salesforce. Smaller competitors like
NetSuite also have made some inroads against Salesforce s market share.
Analysts predict that Microsoft has a chance to compete with Salesforce by developing merely an
acceptable on demand CRM product, because of the average customer s already established
familiarity with Microsoft applications. Also, Microsoft plans to offer their product at half the price of
Salesforce.com, using a tactic they have employed with great effect in other marketplaces to pressure
their competitors. Salesforce.com still has plenty of catching up to do to reach the size and market
share of their larger competitors. As of 2007, SAP s CRM market share was 25.7 percent, compared to
only 7 percent for Salesforce.com. IBM s customer base includes 9,000 software companies that run
their applications on their software and that are likelier to choose a solution offered by IBM over
Salesforce.com.

are often remembered by many, often in conflicting light. The greatest individual conquerors of the
world s past include Genghis Khan, Napoleon Bonaparte, and Attila the Hun. But alongside these
memorable names is the widely known Alexander the Great. His colossal empire spanned around two

While that may sound cruel, it was by far the better of the two, and unfortunately not the one that
Alexander pushed the League to choose. The secondary option is a horrifying decision, as the city of
Thebes ended up being completely and utterly annihilated because of it, save for a few temples
(Thebes Conquered). While some may argue that it may have been completely necessary in order to
truly prevent any possible future uprisings from Thebes, they are only partially correct, as Alexander
the Great could have possibly put down the rebellion in Thebes with half as many casualties. During
the put down of the city, there was a woman named Timoclea, who killed one of the generals in
Alexander s army (Thebes Conqueror). But although she did do that, Alexander spared her life
because he admired her courage, even though she defied him to his face (Thebes Conqueror). This
does not make up for what Alexander the Great allowed his army to do, as Timoclea was raped and
abused by several Macedonian soldiers (Jayne Notes). As the story of Thebes being made into an

Nanosolar is a developer of solar power technology founded in 2002 by Martin Roscheisen and Brian

Government incentives and policy factors serve as significant motivation for market entry especially
in high cost, highly competitive markets such as solar energy. Therefore, Nanosolar must take the
types of incentives and the differences between them into consideration to ensure that they enter the
best market. Government incentives are important because they not only provide reasons for
consumers to switch over to solar energy from other less sustainable forms of electricity, but also
attract solar power companies such as Nanosolar to enter the industry and provide those services. With
this, Nanosolar is aware that European markets are highly profitable, especially in countries like
Germany that enacted renewable energy laws that provide feed in tariffs that required utilities to buy
solar electricity at a fixed price which allowed all key players to make enough profit , in addition to
France whom implemented tax credits and subsidies to entice citizens to shift to solar electricity, and
Italy whom offered bonuses to schools and public health facilities that moved to solar electricity
(Nanosolar, 10). Lastly, Nanosolar s existing relations with European power suppliers and the
assembly plant in Germany make Europe a more attractive industry because they can be more price
competitive in Europe as a result (Nanosolar, 12).

1.0 Overview of DC Motors
A Direct Current (DC) motor is a broad classification of electric motors that operate from a direct
current (DC). Nearly all mechanical devices used in electric applications are powered by electric
motors. Motors transform electrical energy to mechanical energy. Thus, they are essential for energy
conversion in electrical machines. All types of electrical motors comprise a stationary field commonly
referred to as stator, and a rotating field (or rotor). According to Krishnan, (2010), the mechanism of
operation of DC motors is based on the interaction between electric current and the ... Show more

Rizzoni (2004) asserts that when electrical energy is supplied to the windings perpendicular to the
direction of the magnetic field, the flowing current and the magnetic field will interact. As a result,
mechanical energy will be produced by the magnetic field, leading to motion. Fleming s Left Hand
Rule can be used to determine the direction of the motion
Figure 1: Fleming s Left Hand Rule (Rizzoni, 2004) The direction of both the magnetic field and the
current are pointed by the first and second fingers respectively. The thumb indicates the direction in
which the conductor is pushed by effects of the magnetic field (Rizzoni, 2004).
1.3 Operation Principles of a DC Motor
In order to demonstrate the operating principles of a DC motor, this paper will focus on a coil
subjected to a magnetic field with a flux density of B (Hambley et al., 2008). When a D.C voltage is

field will therefore interact and create a force that pushes the coil to move in the direction shown in
Figure 2 below.

Figure 2: Evolution of clear cut deforestation in Amazonia from 1988 to 2011. The reduction from
1988 until 1991 is attributed to the Brazil s economic recession, when the government lacked funds
for road construction and settlement projects. The peak in 1995 is a reflection of an economic
recovery in Brazil, and economic reforms increased the availability of capital. The fall in 1996 and
1997 is a result of falling land values and unattractive land speculation. The increase from 2001 to
2004 is a result of a sharp growth in the international market for soybeans and especially beef
(Fearnside, 2005). From this point, the oscillations between the deforestation rates can be explained by
the fluctuations of beef and soybean prices in the international market, the concession of land in the
agrarian reform (both increasing deforestation), a higher density of conservation units, and penalties
applied by the federal government (both decreasing deforestation).
Grasslands started to substitute rainforest areas in the Amazon for several reasons, and now cattle

Care Services and Cancer Screenings
There are a wide variety of cancer types. They all have several things in common, however. Each
cancer starts with cells that become abnormal or cancerous. These cells reproduce and form a mass of
cancerous cells. This mass is called a tumor. When the cancerous cells spread, or metastasize, they can
impact other tissues, organs, and systems of the body. A second commonality among cancers is that
when they are detected early, they are easier to treat and the treatments are more likely to work. In
many cases, a cancer that is caught early can be completely destroyed.

actually have a serious condition; and actual damage to the body during the test, such a punctured

It is also important to remember that screenings can only detect cancer. They are not a cure, and even
if the cancer is detected, it does not mean that the cancer will always be eradicated. Early detections
does significantly increase the odds of success, however.
Senior care services can help your senior loved one keep up on their annual exams and schedule

Answer 1.
I plan to use the credit line tied to the 3months T bill rate. In loanable funds market which borrowers

Scenario a The growth rate of GDP in the U.S is expected to increase
Since there is an expectation on the U.S GDP to increase, this means the increasing labor force in the
market that indirectly increases the consumption and investments. May be the government s spending
potential is also increasing. These factors would create more demands in the loanable funds market.
So the demand and supply in the loanable funds market determines the interest rates. The following

Real interest rate = Nominal Interest Rate Inflationary premium
Exhibit 1b illustrates how inflation influences nominal interest rates. We consider a 3% market interest
rate as a stable price. Assume the expected rate of inflation is zero, there will be no inflationary
premium; under these conditions the nominal interest rate is equal to the real interest rate. Now there
is an expectation of inflation goes higher, forecasted 2% inflation, so the real interest rate now
becomes to 1% (based on the real interest rate formula). This case I am better off my firm s future
financing cost if I use the credit line.
Usually it is not going to work that way. When lenders expect inflation, they will be pushing the
interest rate upward by the expected inflation. This case the nominal interest rate is going to be 5%
and the real interest rate would become 3%. Lenders may not always forecast the future rate of
inflation accurately. If the inflation is higher than was expected then my firm will gain. On the other
hand if the inflation rate is less than anticipated then lenders will gain. Therefore, no reason why the
inflation will help either my firm or lenders.
