The Roaring Twenties Summary
The Roaring Twenties written by Joshua Zeitz exemplifies the 1920s as a time full of grace, but not
without its hardships. The author states that there was an era of liberation for women, and many
contemporary ideas were introduced. New ideals were being popularized and a different generation
was evolving, even with the disapproval of others. Although it was a glitzy and glamorous time, the
economy was being strained and eventually reached a breaking point. Even though there was a
depression in the beginning and the end of the 1920s, this period was met with beauty, allure, and
fascination.
The rise of female emancipation created a modern look for women. Flappers contributed to the social
aspect of the new democracy. Described as northern, urban, young, and single, these women loved the
nightlife. These girls enjoyed jazz clubs or vaudeville shows. A flapper was generally characterized by
short hair, lots of makeup, and short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with these state of the art activities came a huge increase in citizens living in cities. For the first
time in America s history, more people were living in cities than on farms and villages. Inventions like
radio, car, and film in the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries prospered in the twenties. People
had money to spend, and they spent it. Zeitz writes that ...theaters were selling 5 million tickets a
week, a sum equal to roughly half the U.S. population! Like film, radio sales boomed. The annual
sales for radios were $852 million, and twelve million households owned them. Even teenagers were
embracing the freedom of the twenties. According to an interview done by Robert and Helen Lynd, the
top reasons for disagreement between high schoolers and their parents was the number of times they
could go out during the school week, the hour they came home, and their allotted spending

Why I Decided For The Army For Three Reasons
It is dark outside and many men lay sick on the cold dirt floor of the huts. I want to return to my
family, however I must serve my country until the end. Our huts only have mud and straw for our
bedding. Space was limited in the hut, there are no windows and only one door. The huts are 16 by 14
, not enough room for the 12 men inside. Still, many of the conditions at Valley Forge are okay for
living in. The living conditions occurred to be very harsh, but they happened to be bearable. I decided
to re enlist in the army for three reasons; the army needs more soldiers, in the end there is much pride
and glory, and many leaders are helping us get through the war.
In 1773, the Boston Tea Party commenced causing most of this drama with the British. Before we
arrived at camp we had victories in Princeton and Trenton, demonstrating that we can win this war.
Then in 1776, our Declaration of Independence had started to be written. Before I left to the war, my
home was quartered or taken over by the British. I knew that I had to leave my family to help support
them. In the year 1777 our army marched into the Valley Forge camp, home for me and my fellow
men for 9 months. We ate, slept, and trained for many days. Upon our arrival at Valley Forge many
soldiers started to desert, or in other words, they were leaving without permission from General
Washington. The war conditions were getting worse and I knew that I had a duty to help the army.
The first reason I will re enlist in

Nonverbal Communication And Body Language
Body language (the process of communicating nonverbally through conscious or unconscious gestures
and movements). People all of the world use body language or gestures to communicate nonverbally. I
personally think that nonverbal communication and body language are one of the biggest barriers in
communication especially between one culture to other. Body gestures can be misinterpreted as rude
or disrespectful depending on the country, region, or even the city you re from.
A few for example, in some countries the two fingers up to make the peace sign and also the thumbs
up sign can be considered rude. In some places, the ok sign that we use with our hand is considered a
sign of the devil 666, but in France it means nothing as in zero and not ok or great. In some places can
t, huge men and women can t huge each other if the opposite sex isn t a family. In Haiti which is a
French speaking country it is rude to shrug the shoulder when communicating with older people. The
shrug of the shoulder is only use with your friends. Also, in Haiti kissing on the cheek like in France is
for family friend I not greet that way it s a sign that something with wrong in relationship between you
and the person, and the men to men don t kiss on the cheeks they will just shack hands.
In France greeting seems to be a really big deal among the culture, one of the greeting is called fair la
bise. Which is the kissing of the cheek which is really just cheeks touching and kissing in the air but,

Jesus Seminar Thesis
Jesus is most definitely a symbol of hope, however, we need a foundation for our faith. Having
evidence about Jesus life, teaching, and resurrection provides a firm foundation for our faith. The
Jesus Seminar states that the Jesus of faith is merely just a symbol of hope that provides people with a
good feeling and a sense of security, but it s not the real Jesus of history. Contrary to this statement,
the Jesus of faith is the opposite and much more than the views of those from the Jesus Seminar. Much
of the historical evidence points to a historical Jesus who did many supernatural acts throughout his
lifetime. As Boyd says, Jesus is not a symbol of anything unless he s root in history. Those who state
that the Jesus of faith was merely

Challenges Faced United Arb Emirates (UAE) Health Care System
UAE Health Care System Strategy
To achieve anything you want it you must put strategy to how you can achieve it successfully, and that
s what United Arab Emirates (UAE) health care system did. The ambition of the UAE health care
system to become one of the favorite destinations for local patients as well as a center for international
medical tourists require high quality and cost effective procedure and treatment, that s what makes
UAE put long term strategy to achieve this aspiration (world health organization, 2005 2009). In order
to support the health care system, the UAE government increasingly focused its effort to attract special
high level health care providers to the UAE. However, despite the strong support of the UAE
government, health care providers, still facing major challenges to grow and operate in the Emarites.
There are several challenges faced UAE health care system, but the government and the health care
system reject Surrender and still confront challenges neither tiredness nor boredom from its side.
Challenges
One of the great challenges was faced health care development is the lack of standardization of
instructions and regulations across the UAE and the various stages of health care development in each
emirate. These challenges formed a huge handicap to the strategy of development of the health care
system. Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC), Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Authority of Abu Dhabi
(HADD), and The Ministry of Health are examples of the several

Orange County Bankruptcy
Bond Pricing and Yield Mini Case Orange County, California filed for bankruptcy in 1994 mostly
because of losses experienced in experienced in the Orange County Investment Pool (OCIP). The
losses were $1.6 billion in a fund set up to maximize profits through a speculative investment strategy
(high yield, interest sensitive and highly leveraged securities) (Saskal, 2005). During a time of low
interest rates the investment strategy was returning a great investment; however, when interest rates
began the upward rise, the fund began losing money and ultimately was not able to cover loan
payments. This led to the county to file for bankruptcy. This paper will discuss some of the
ramifications presented to Orange County as a result of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Generally, municipalities will issue pensions bonds to cover liabilities set for employee pension plans.
While Orange County approved benefit enhancements that lowered retirement age and increased
benefits, thus increasing the pension liabilities in 2003, the advisory committee set up after the
bankruptcy did not immediately approve a corresponding pension bond at the time of the article s
writing. Refinancing Recovery bonds were issued in 1996 for Orange County. Saskal (2004) provides
the rates of the bonds were higher coupon bonds ranging from 5.6% with 2009 maturity to 5.8% with
2016 maturity and a 6.0% with 2026 maturity. According to the article, repayment of the loans was to
become a priority, however, due to legal/tax issues; the method of payment is still to be determined.
Conclusion The bankruptcy of Orange County, the high economic county of California, took a lot of
people by surprise. The ratings of the bonds were low risk investment grade, yet because of a highly
risky investment strategy and increasing interest rates, the bottom fell out and the option Orange
County followed was bankruptcy. For investors that stayed with Orange County through restructuring
and after emerging from bankruptcy, they were rewarded with full principal payments, and past due
interest. The county also started an advisory committee to prevent future

Mouse Genotyping
Thus, after some time our strains bred and we recollected pregnant females. They were then
euthanized and we obtained all the embryos at the age of E12.5 and E18.5.
At this step embryo genotyping is required to identify each member of the litter in order to be able to
make future experiments. Mouse genotyping is the process of determining if they express or not a
specific gene. The purpose of this procedure in our case was to obtain purified DNA, amplify Cre and
Fog1 genes by PCR and run an agarose gel to see if the mouse expressed them or not. Control
embryos (littermates of Fog1cKO mutants) were then Cre negative and heterozygous or wild type for
the flox alleles and displayed a similar phenotype to wild type (ICR background) mice. In contrast, ...

dissection, the tail of each mouse was taken in a single Eppendorf for carrying out the genotyping.
Tails were disintegrated with proteinase K treatment (1mg/ml) and put at +56ºC overnight. Next day, a
PCR was performed with the tail preps (see Protocol 1) and we checked PCR products running a 2%
agarose gel (see Protocol 2).
2. Tissue preparation: paraffin sections
The aim of this technique is to embed tissue into wax. Embedding tissue into paraffin blocks supports
the tissue structure and enables to cut very thin sections and mount them onto microscope slides for
posterior staining and analysis. I prepared tissue on paraffin sections for staining. This technique is
divided in different steps, most of them made automatically by a machine:
A. Fixation
Chemical fixatives are used to maintain the structural integrity of the cell and to preserve tissue from
degradation. Their main function is to cross link proteins irreversibly and act as a bacterial killer. In
our case, embryos (E12.5) or embryonic brains were fixed in 4% PFA in 1xPBS (see Buffers and
Solutions) at +4ºC for 1 4 days. We put the embryos in cassettes ordered by numbers. Those samples
will be used for the final project

What Is The Theme Of The Godfather
Produced by Albert S. Ruddy, and directed by Francis Coppola, The film God Father is regarded one
the greatest movie in history. It is based on Mario Puzo s novel The God Father . Some of the actors
starring in the movie include Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Richard Conte among others.
The theme of violence is evident all through the film. The story of The Godfather is told with a closed
world, it gives the audience a chance to review the Mafia utterly on its own terms. Character Don Vito
Corleone played by Marlon Brando, is seen as a sympathetic and admirable character. As all through
the film, he does everything that is expected from a mafia, which receives approval from the audience.
In the movie, there is no civilian causality of an organized crime, only corrupt police.
The story reviews the mafia life from the inside, and as expected by the audience such life is secretive,
addictive in a way. The story has shaped the public perception on the mafia. In the film the Godfather
takes control of power and justice, his only nemeses are traitors and snitches. For instance, Michael
played by Al Pacino says that one should never side against the family. In another incident, Don Vito

Second World War Propaganda Analysis
After being thrust into the Second World War after the attack on Pearl Harbor, a majority of
Americans came together, driven by shock and nationalism. Avenge Pearl Harbor! became a rallying
cry for Americans across the nation. The effort of mobilization encompassed the entire nation; from
big business to private companies to victory gardens, the nation was ready for a two front war, in
terms of machinery and morale. Wartime manufacturing mass produced thousands of aircraft, armored
vehicles, and trucks, along with new inventions such as the radar and early computers. Propaganda,
mostly in the form of posters and political cartoons, sprouted everywhere to incite nationalism and a
sense of duty to Americans. However, for German, Italian, and Japanese Americans, American World
War II propaganda was typically used against them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While isolationists and pacifists wanted nothing to do with the war, interventionists and the general
public were spurred on after the bombing of Pearl Harbor and the declarations of war against Japan

Office of War Information, which sought to portray the war as a people s war for freedom. To many
Americans, the Second World War was a fight for freedom against fascist enemies who could infringe
their rights. According to Franklin D. Roosevelt, the Four Freedoms were freedom of speech and
expression, freedom of religion, freedom of want, and freedom of fear. The first amendment began to
symbolize true liberty, and President Roosevelt stressed that freedom was a prevailing factor in
America that must be protected by fascist foreign powers. For many Americans, the war was the fight

Last Of The Mohicans Parent Child Relationships Essay
Parent Child Relationships in The Last of the Mohicans
Some families have similar parent child dynamics and a few have different ones. The historical fiction
novel, The Last of the Mohicans by James Fenimore Cooper, reveals different parent child
relationships. Uncas is the son of Chingachgook and the last of the Mohicans. Alice and Cora are half
sisters and Colonel Munro s daughters. The relationship with Uncas and his Dad is different from
Cora and Alice with their father but the have similarities.
Uncas is the biological son of Chingachgook. These men are the only two members alive from their
tribe, the Mohicans. Uncas is much like his father. They are considered brave, skilled, sharp and
wanderers. Chingachgook expresses, When Uncas follows in my foot steps there will no longer be any
of the blood of the sagamores, for my boy is the last of the Mohicans . You can tell Chingachgook is
proud of his son. They have a mutual respect for one another in the stereotypical man to man way it
seems to be a ritual, obedient and proud. Uncas views his father as a teacher and is content with his
inherited duty of carrying on the legacy of the tribe. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

being of his daughters. Though his allegiance seems stronger to the King than his family, there is no
doubt that there is love there. He calls his daughters his lambs. Although he expresses love for both his
daughters he seems to have an affection for Alice, who he had with his second wife, than for Cora

Racism Research Paper On Racism
This research paper strives to test the hypothesis of whether racism is on a rise due to President Trump
being in office or was racism on a rise before President Trump got in office. As stated in the statement
purpose this research question comes from incidents in my own personal life, from social patterns I
have observed, and from the significance of the election of President trump. Growing up in as an
African in America, noticing the racial tensions, and seeing how it has evolved to what it is today in
our society led me to pursue the topic.
Questions to be answered through this research to come up with an answer to the hypothesis are; what
the reason why now there is an emergence of all these hate groups that were not relevant before the
election of President trump. The question of racism in the United States, whether it has increased over
the years. The question of if have we learnt to tolerate and accept racism as being part of our society.
To conduct this research the methods to be used are as follows; examining newspaper articles, news
stories, internet articles, and journals, and books would test my hypothesis. Conducting a survey to
find out what others think, and to noting if their views align with my hypothesis will assist in
answering the research questions.
The first method is a literature review. This is the process of searching for, reading, summarizing, and
synthesizing existing work on a topic or the resulting written summary of a search (Emily Stier Adler

Healthcare Leadership Skills
Managers in healthcare are important leaders. All employees underneath the managers look to them
for guidance. Managers lead very busy careers full of responsibility. There are also many benefits to
working as a manager, however; it is important to have specific qualities to be successful. A good
health care manager has the knowledge, skills, and desire to be successful. The knowledge of staffing,
organizing, and planning will provide the expertise to keep a productive workforce in order

The city Las Vegas, Nevada was founded in 1905, with about 110 acres of land that became useful for

Theological Analysis Essay
Theological Analysis In reflecting on this situation, the passages of on the characteristics of those who

Foundations and Limits of Freedom of the Press
In Foundations and Limits of Freedom of the Press, Judith Lichtenberg explores the ongoing
controversial argument surrounding the regulation of the press and mass media. She evaluates the
ability of the press to shape our opinions and values through an examination of the interdependent
relationship between freedom of speech and press. Furthermore, she notes that, while the two rights
appear similar as they are both considered as forms of self expression, it is important to differ between
the two. While Lichtenberg states that freedom of speech and freedom of press are inseparable and
equally fundamental she also claims that there are distinct difference between the two basic rights
(Lichtenberg 329). She defines the freedom of speech as the equal foundational right to symbolic
expression of multiplicity of voices (Lichtenberg 337). The main difference between freedom of
speech and press lies in that freedom of press is in the public domain and once self expression is
launched into a public sphere, it threatens to restrict another s autonomy. Here Lichtenberg uses the
analogy of a restaurant to illustrate her claim. Although the restaurant may be privately owned, its
success depends on the public; therefore it ceases to remain an entirely private institution (Lichtenberg
343). While freedom of speech concerns only the individual and is nearly unconditional, freedom of
press regards organizations that lies in the public domain therefore we it should be exercised

1. Abstract
This study will examine the temperature dependence of internal energy, heat capacity and R2 value
(representative of the end to end distance) using a Langevin Dynamics simulation. It will also consider
the dependence of the internal energy, heat capacity and R2 value with increasing polymer chain
length. Internal energy has been found to be is negative at low temperatures, increases linearly with
temperature and becomes positive at high temperatures. Heat capacity seems to increase linearly with

The time step 0.005fs gives a mean energy error (standard deviation) of around 0.01% of the mean
value. This is an acceptable level of accuracy. The hottest system has been chosen for this test because
it will have the most kinetic energy and atoms will move the most. Therefore the system will be the
most volatile and have the biggest uctuations from the mean energy value. Thus a time step at this
high temperature will be as accurate or more at any lower temperature.

temperature remains fairly constant will minimize uctuations in the rest of the data and optimize its
accuracy. However, the longer the equilibration time the longer the simulation will take. Therefore an
equilibration time of 700fs has been assigned. The coldest system has been used for this experiment.
The colder the system the slower the atoms will move and thus the longer it will take for the polymer
to reach its equilibrium state. Therefore the coldest system will give the largest equilibration time,
meaning at any higher target temperature the system will take less long to equilibrate. This will ensure
the data is accurate at all temperatures.

Pilot Plant Case Study
The U.S. Army facility in Aberdeen known as the Pilot Plant was responsible for endangering the lives
of employees and the surrounding community during the years of 1983 through 1986. The chemicals
used and stored were highly dangerous and lethal to humans. The chemicals were improperly stored in
incorrect locations with improper labels, and leaking barrels. After a roof collapsed it took two weeks
for the chemical spills to be properly dealt with. An acid spill consisting of 200 gallons spilt into a
local river and investigation reported improper storage and containment equipment. The acts occurred
violated the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act. Three engineers were responsible for either
overlooking or not caring as to how chemicals within the facility were stored and maintained. The
three engineers were Carl Gepp, William Dee, and Robert Lentz. The engineers were specialist in
chemical weaponry and stated lack of knowledge for proper containment and storage procedures. The

The employees of the plant could have whistle blew and in doing so investigation could have arose.
The investigation could have brought earlier legal action forcing proper storage and facility standards.
Fear of job security could hold someone from blowing the whistle and to avoid this, an anonymous
whistle blowing phone line to an outside agency could have been implemented. This way no
repercussion could arise to the employee. Another implication that could have avoided this situation is
having the engineers take yearly courses updating them on new federal laws and RCRA regulations.
To ensure that internally the matters couldn t be pushed under the rug chemical facilities could require
regular checks to ensure no wrong doing is occurring. This could be done by having different

Insanity In Edvard Munch s The Scream
In his diaries, the artist Edvard Munch admits that he struggled with insanity not only on a personal
level during his life, but also through his family. In fact, his sister was hospitalized for insanity at the
time The Scream was painted in 1893. If given a thorough enough analysis, the personal lives of most
artists are not perfect portraits of happiness. The thing that makes Edvard Munch a different kind of
artist is that he shows us an honest, even ugly, glimpse of his inner troubles and feelings of anxiety
through his painting The Scream, putting more importance on personal meaning than on technical skill
or beauty, a traditional goal of art. According to Munch s personal diaries, the idea for the modern art

Then I heard the enormous infinite scream of nature. So what does this quote actually mean? On the
surface, Munch describes a normal evening in Norway, taking a walk at sunset with some friends
beside a fjord. While an evening out walking by the water might sound relaxing and enjoyable at first,
on closer look we see that Munch is really describing a moment of an almost undeniable personal
crisis. In the painting s background, we can see two people walking away in the other direction,
creating the feelings of isolation and fear the artist talks about in his quotation. In the manner of a true
Expressionist painter, Munch uses color to express his emotional reactions to his environment,
commenting on the red sky and the bluish black fjord, described almost as an all consuming black
hole hell where tongues of fire viciously lick at the weary and overwhelmed subject, which is a
genderless figure. While there is certainly something gloomy about Munch s description of The
Scream landscape, the repeated use of the word blood in combination with the twirling, swirling, and
whirling warm tones used to paint the background suggest actual physical

Tutoring Should Be Allowed In Schools
The need for tutors is overwhelming. Tutors help fill the gap between the teachers and the students.
With so many students in each classroom, the teacher can t give each student the one on one attention
that some students need. This is where tutors come in to play. Tutors have been a key instrument
ineducation since as far back as the 1500 s (Gordon 9). Tutoring is almost as old as educating children.
Tutoring younger students is also still going strong in the twentieth century. Today it is
more~important than ever due to the increase in students and low budgets that some schools have. As
stated by Edward E. Gordon in his book, Centuries of Tutoring Schoolinghas dominated the twentieth
century, but tutoring still holds an important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When you tutor or volunteer you are doing a service for your community and for yourself.
Some of the reasons that tutoring is needed in society are outlined next. According to Dorothy Lloyd,
the trend of the 60 s included a rapidly changing population of students whose educational needs
became difficult to meet due to their mobility and lack of achievement. This change stimulated a rise
in tutor programs (46). As society became increasingly industrialized, families moved from city to city
and their children went with them. Thus making it hard for teachers and schools to form a lasting bond
between the children and the teachers.
The education systems are radically changing due to the fact that previous material and techniques
believed to be successful were no longer effective. The importance of education in modern society led
to a sense of depression about the need to provide a good education. This need is supported by
Reisner, Petry, Armigage (1990),who regarded tutoring and mentoring as highly relevant methods of
intervention that addressed national, state, and local priorities (Lloyd 50). The age of the computer is
an example of this. You can no longer do just about anything without a computer. If school districts
don t have access to computers then their students are left behind.
The classroom sizes are increasing every year and the one on one attention is being lost in the process,

The Haustrum scobina (or more commonly Oyster Borer) are green curved sea snail looking
organisms found on the rocky shore. In our data it was most common from the mid to lower littoral

The niche (role taken as an organism follows):
The H. scobina pries open barnacle plates then uses its proboscis to feed on the organism inside. It can
also feed on mussels, oysters and other molluscs by drilling through their skulls with its radula.
The largest abiotic factors the H. scobina faces is the wind currents and exposure to air, so it has
developed the following adaptations to help it survive:
The H. scobina has the structural adaptation of a strong muscular foot to open up plated organisms,
this helps it feed in this environment as well as keeping it surfaced while large wind and ocean
currents try and push it along. Another structural adaptation is its tough, waterproof outer shell that

Human Consumption Is Depleting The Earth s Natural...
Human consumption is depleting the Earth s natural resources and impairing the capacity of life
supporting ecosystems. Humans have changed ecosystems more rapidly and extensively over the past
50 years than during any other period, primarily to meet increasing demands for food, fresh water,
timber, fibre and fuel. Such consumption, together with world population increasing from 2.6 billion
in 1950 to 6.8 billion in 2009, are major contributors to environmental damage.(Human population
growth and the demographic transition). Strengthening family planning services is crucial to slowing
population growth, now 85 million annually,(Essential Environment, Human Population, page 118)
and limiting population size to 9.2 billion by 2050. Otherwise, birth rates could remain unchanged,
and world population would grow to 11 billion.(Essential Environment, Human Population, page 120).
Indonesia is the 4th most populated country on the planet, making up 3.49% of the earths population,
behind China, India and US ( World Population). Indonesia s population is expected to grow to 271. 1

SCRUTINY OF CAUSATION AND REMOTENESS OF DAMAGES
To avoid undue hardship to the defaulting party a line must be drawn separating damages resulting
from his breach for which he should be liable and damages which, although in the broad sense of the
word are as a result of his breach, are so remote to extent that he should not be liable for them. This
line is drawn when separating General (intrinsic) damages from Special (extrinsic) damages.
The courts insist that the damages should be direct rather than indirect. Direct damages are also known
as general or intrinsic damages. They flow naturally and generally from the kind of breach of contract
in question.
Indirect damages are special or extrinsic damages, which are only recovered in special circumstances
attending the conclusion of the contract.
In Zimbabwe there is only one possible test that could be applied to decide whether special or
extrinsic damages can be recovered for breach of contract. This test is the contemplation principle.
The test applied under this principle is to check whether the contracting parties actually or
presumptively foresaw that the breach of contract in question would result in the type of loss being
sued for. Case in point is that of Collective Self Finance Scheme (CFC) v Asharia (A) year 200 in
which CFC contracted to buy a property from the respondent and paid a deposit. CFC later repudiated

NASA envisions a day when its lizard robots may climb the walls of the ISS using grippers inspired

In the body there are three types of joints...
Moveable/Synovial joints Moveable joints allow for maximum movement. Moveable or synovial
joints are normally found in the limbs, as we use these parts more than anything. Ligaments help to
provide the stability of the bones, also the muscles contract giving movement. Examples of synovial
joints are the ball and socket joints, these are found in the shoulder and the hip joints , these joints are

Amyotrophic lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease. It is a disease which involves the

corticospinal neurons of the motor cortex. ALS is also known as Lou Gehrigs disease. This name
came about after a New York Yankees baseball player developed this disorder and died from it in

than 20 genes are known to have a role to play in ALS pathogenesis. In most cases of ALS, the disease
is not hereditary. The cause of ALS is still unknown. A small amount of cases are made up of a few

Internal Communication At Radio 21

Internal communication can be seen as the oil that makes a company run smoothly or the bridge that
creates connections between employees and responsibilities. In fact, effective internal communication
leads to superior understanding and encourages knowledge sharing, which can be only a positive
aspect for the well functioning of an organization (Institute of Internal Communication, n.d.).
Radio 21
Radio 21, also known as one of the most popular private networks in Bucharest, Romania, is a small
radio station with a major impact on the target group between 15 and 25 years old (Berry, 2004). It is

straightforward, focused and clear manner.
Radio 21 used to be the No.1 radio in Bucharest a few years ago, but due to the evolution of other
private radio stations and a change in listeners preferences, Radio 21 suffered a considerable loss in

The Life of Immigrant Children In New York Essay
The Life of Immigrant Children In New York
By the late nineteenth century the economic lines in America between the upper and lower class were
quickly widening because of the boom of urban industrial expansion. Moreover, during the 1800s,
America witnessed an influx of immigrants coming from many parts of the world, they made
tenement houses in New York s lower East Side a common destination. One person witnessing the
living conditions of these tenements was journalist Jacob A. Riis. For several years, Riis, with camera
in hand, tooked a multitude of photographs that depicted the atrocious working and living conditions
in the New York slums. Riss reported that the tenements were severely overcrowded, unsanitary, and a
breeding ground ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Riis s photograph titled: Twelve year old boy (who had sworn he was sixteen) pulling threads in a
sweat shop, about 1889 substantiates the poor working conditions that children were exposed to in
tenement sweatshops in which Riss s text asserts (99). Riis s photograph depicts a young boy sewing a
garment while he is sitting in a chair with a cushion. He is wearing a white cap and appears to wearing
a pajama top possibly signifying he had to go straight to work not even allowing him time to get
dressed. Next to the boy is a pile of garments to show the amount of work to be done. In the
background of the photograph, five men are standing behind the boy all in a line. The photograph also
reveals the unsanitary working conditions in tenement sweatshops that Riss s text points out on
numerous pages because the floor has shreds of dirty rags lying about, and it is filthy. The boy is
looking straight into the camera lens as if he is posing for a family portrait, but the expression of the
boy s face conveys gloom. The boy s eyes appear to be saying take me away from this awful place.
Additionally, the boy s face appears black and soiled, which matches the cushion he sits upon, but
oddly, his hat is entirely clean. Perhaps, someone rubbed some dirt on the boy s face in order to draw
additional compassion from observers. On the other hand, one of the men in the photograph does not
seem concerned

The Ambiguity Of Gender In The Poetry Of Robert Herrick
Robert Herrick wrote hundreds of poems about real or imagined women. It is generally conceded that
his many fresh and fragrant mistresses were purely imaginary, but understanding how he constructs
gender is vital in developing an accurate view of his poetic art. Modern criticism often depicts Herrick
as a propagandist for the received standards of his day, yet close examination of his texts reveals that
he recognized the ambiguities of gender and the inconsistencies of his era s beliefs pertaining to
women, disrupted and interrogated them, and often engaged in outright parodic critique of accepted
seventeenth century gender mores. The stance Herrick takes in relation to gender issues is rooted in
the double coding of female presence that

What Is The Purpose Of Luke s Gospel
In the opening lines of Luke, His purpose as a Gentile is to show the audience, the Gentiles, how Jesus
was born into the Word as a Messiah that orally and behaved in the ways of the Jewish culture, beliefs
and values. It seems as though Luke s Gospel was written in an interpersonal way to convey the
significance of Jesus purpose and the teachings of how the Jews lived. It s almost like writing what
Luke observed to help His own kind strengthen their faith and follow the ways of how the Meek is
supposed to live. His Gospel is to descriptively show the Gentiles this man who performed miracles
and fulfilled promises. Luke was writing in awe, which He was spirited to share with Theophilus and
the Gentiles.
The Acts of Apostles was written by

Agriculture During The American Industrial Revolution
One of the innovations that stood out the most during the American Industrial Revolution were with
the advancement with Agriculture. Despite the other benefits made during the American industrial
revolution, such as steel and oil, agriculture remained the nation s basic occupation. The revolution in
agriculture during the time involved a shift from hand labor to machine farming and from subsistence
(maintaining/supporting for oneself) to a commercial agriculture. There were a few contributing
factors to the achievement of agricultural success. One of them was the expansion to the West and
another was the use of machinery for farming. Innovations such as The Reaper, The Thresher, Steel
Plow, and Combine encouraged farming in the prairie lands

Essay about The Zebra Mussel
Populations of the zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas), were first found in the Laurentian
Great Lakes in 1988 (Hebert et al., 1989). This species is native to the Caspian, Aral, and Black Seas
and the rivers that drain into them but has spread throughout Europe, principally during the 18th
century. Since it is restricted to estuarine and freshwater habitats, it is presumed that it was introduced
into North America by ballast waters of transoceanic vessels. Based on the substantial amount of
genetic variation found in these initial populations, as estimated from electrophoretic variation of
allozymes, the colonization of the Great Lakes was by a large number of immigrants and not just a
few founders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This blockage can result in heat damage to power plants and necessitates costly removal or
replacement of intake pipes (Minchin and Moriarty, 1998).
Colonization by zebra mussels has devastating ecological impacts on native bivalves (Mackie, 1991;
Haag et al., 1993), frequently driving them to local extinction. Zebra mussels readily, perhaps
preferentially, settle on native bivalves and eventually cover them over. They filter the water so
efficiently that they can lower the amount of suspended food organisms below levels needed to sustain
native unionids.
Their success in spreading rapidly and colonizing new areas is due to two features of zebra mussel
biology. Firstly, zebra mussels produce large numbers ( gt; 30,000 per female) of planktotrophic
veliger larvae which can survive for 10 15 days (Hebert et al., 1989). Such larvae are well suited for
efficient dispersal by water currents, especially in riverine systems. Additionally, they don t require the
presence of suitable host species of fish, as do native unionid larvae. Secondly, the spread of zebra
mussels is aided by their ability to attach to objects by byssal threads (the same ability that leads to
their fouling problems). Because of this ability, adult zebra mussels can attach to and be spread by
ships,

  • 2. The Roaring Twenties Summary The Roaring Twenties written by Joshua Zeitz exemplifies the 1920s as a time full of grace, but not without its hardships. The author states that there was an era of liberation for women, and many contemporary ideas were introduced. New ideals were being popularized and a different generation was evolving, even with the disapproval of others. Although it was a glitzy and glamorous time, the economy was being strained and eventually reached a breaking point. Even though there was a depression in the beginning and the end of the 1920s, this period was met with beauty, allure, and fascination. The rise of female emancipation created a modern look for women. Flappers contributed to the social aspect of the new democracy. Described as northern, urban, young, and single, these women loved the nightlife. These girls enjoyed jazz clubs or vaudeville shows. A flapper was generally characterized by short hair, lots of makeup, and short, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along with these state of the art activities came a huge increase in citizens living in cities. For the first time in America s history, more people were living in cities than on farms and villages. Inventions like radio, car, and film in the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries prospered in the twenties. People had money to spend, and they spent it. Zeitz writes that ...theaters were selling 5 million tickets a week, a sum equal to roughly half the U.S. population! Like film, radio sales boomed. The annual sales for radios were $852 million, and twelve million households owned them. Even teenagers were embracing the freedom of the twenties. • 3. Why I Decided For The Army For Three Reasons It is dark outside and many men lay sick on the cold dirt floor of the huts. I want to return to my family, however I must serve my country until the end. Our huts only have mud and straw for our bedding. Space was limited in the hut, there are no windows and only one door. The huts are 16 by 14 , not enough room for the 12 men inside. Still, many of the conditions at Valley Forge are okay for living in. The living conditions occurred to be very harsh, but they happened to be bearable. I decided to re enlist in the army for three reasons; the army needs more soldiers, in the end there is much pride and glory, and many leaders are helping us get through the war. In 1773, the Boston Tea Party commenced causing most of this drama with the British. Before we arrived at camp we had victories in Princeton and Trenton, demonstrating that we can win this war. Then in 1776, our Declaration of Independence had started to be written. Before I left to the war, my home was quartered or taken over by the British. I knew that I had to leave my family to help support them. In the year 1777 our army marched into the Valley Forge camp, home for me and my fellow men for 9 months. We ate, slept, and trained for many days. Upon our arrival at Valley Forge many soldiers started to desert, or in other words, they were leaving without permission from General Washington. The war conditions were getting worse and I knew that I had a duty to help the army. The first reason I will re enlist in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Nonverbal Communication And Body Language Body language (the process of communicating nonverbally through conscious or unconscious gestures and movements). People all of the world use body language or gestures to communicate nonverbally. I personally think that nonverbal communication and body language are one of the biggest barriers in communication especially between one culture to other. Body gestures can be misinterpreted as rude or disrespectful depending on the country, region, or even the city you re from. A few for example, in some countries the two fingers up to make the peace sign and also the thumbs up sign can be considered rude. In some places, the ok sign that we use with our hand is considered a sign of the devil 666, but in France it means nothing as in zero and not ok or great. In some places can t, huge men and women can t huge each other if the opposite sex isn t a family. In Haiti which is a French speaking country it is rude to shrug the shoulder when communicating with older people. The shrug of the shoulder is only use with your friends. Also, in Haiti kissing on the cheek like in France is for family friend I not greet that way it s a sign that something with wrong in relationship between you and the person, and the men to men don t kiss on the cheeks they will just shack hands. In France greeting seems to be a really big deal among the culture, one of the greeting is called fair la bise. Having evidence about Jesus life, teaching, and resurrection provides a firm foundation for our faith. The Jesus Seminar states that the Jesus of faith is merely just a symbol of hope that provides people with a good feeling and a sense of security, but it s not the real Jesus of history. Contrary to this statement, the Jesus of faith is the opposite and much more than the views of those from the Jesus Seminar. Much of the historical evidence points to a historical Jesus who did many supernatural acts throughout his lifetime. As Boyd says, Jesus is not a symbol of anything unless he s root in history. At this step embryo genotyping is required to identify each member of the litter in order to be able to make future experiments. Mouse genotyping is the process of determining if they express or not a specific gene. The purpose of this procedure in our case was to obtain purified DNA, amplify Cre and Fog1 genes by PCR and run an agarose gel to see if the mouse expressed them or not. • 20. Foundations and Limits of Freedom of the Press In Foundations and Limits of Freedom of the Press, Judith Lichtenberg explores the ongoing controversial argument surrounding the regulation of the press and mass media. She evaluates the ability of the press to shape our opinions and values through an examination of the interdependent relationship between freedom of speech and press. Furthermore, she notes that, while the two rights appear similar as they are both considered as forms of self expression, it is important to differ between the two. While Lichtenberg states that freedom of speech and freedom of press are inseparable and equally fundamental she also claims that there are distinct difference between the two basic rights (Lichtenberg 329). She defines the freedom of speech as the equal foundational right to symbolic expression of multiplicity of voices (Lichtenberg 337). The main difference between freedom of speech and press lies in that freedom of press is in the public domain and once self expression is launched into a public sphere, it threatens to restrict another s autonomy. Here Lichtenberg uses the analogy of a restaurant to illustrate her claim. Although the restaurant may be privately owned, its success depends on the public; therefore it ceases to remain an entirely private institution (Lichtenberg 343). While freedom of speech concerns only the individual and is nearly unconditional, freedom of press regards organizations that lies in the public domain therefore we it should be exercised ... The time step 0.005fs gives a mean energy error (standard deviation) of around 0.01% of the mean value. This is an acceptable level of accuracy. The hottest system has been chosen for this test because it will have the most kinetic energy and atoms will move the most. Therefore the system will be the most volatile and have the biggest uctuations from the mean energy value. Thus a time step at this high temperature will be as accurate or more at any lower temperature. Figure 1: Graph of temperature vs. Equilibration time. Initially there is a temperature peak which will inuence the accuracy of the data. By choosing a time after which temperature remains fairly constant will minimize uctuations in the rest of the data and optimize its accuracy. However, the longer the equilibration time the longer the simulation will take. Therefore an equilibration time of 700fs has been assigned. The coldest system has been used for this experiment. The colder the system the slower the atoms will move and thus the longer it will take for the polymer to reach its equilibrium state. Therefore the coldest system will give the largest equilibration time, meaning at any higher target temperature the system will take less long to equilibrate. This will ensure the data is accurate at all temperatures. 2 Figure 2: T vs. To for 32 atoms.

  • 24. Insanity In Edvard Munch s The Scream In his diaries, the artist Edvard Munch admits that he struggled with insanity not only on a personal level during his life, but also through his family. In fact, his sister was hospitalized for insanity at the time The Scream was painted in 1893. If given a thorough enough analysis, the personal lives of most artists are not perfect portraits of happiness. The thing that makes Edvard Munch a different kind of artist is that he shows us an honest, even ugly, glimpse of his inner troubles and feelings of anxiety through his painting The Scream, putting more importance on personal meaning than on technical skill or beauty, a traditional goal of art. So what does this quote actually mean? On the surface, Munch describes a normal evening in Norway, taking a walk at sunset with some friends beside a fjord. While an evening out walking by the water might sound relaxing and enjoyable at first, on closer look we see that Munch is really describing a moment of an almost undeniable personal crisis. In the painting s background, we can see two people walking away in the other direction, creating the feelings of isolation and fear the artist talks about in his quotation. In the manner of a true Expressionist painter, Munch uses color to express his emotional reactions to his environment, commenting on the red sky and the bluish black fjord, described almost as an all consuming black hole hell where tongues of fire viciously lick at the weary and overwhelmed subject, which is a genderless figure. While there is certainly something gloomy about Munch s description of The Scream landscape, the repeated use of the word blood in combination with the twirling, swirling, and whirling warm tones used to paint the background suggest actual physical ... With so many students in each classroom, the teacher can t give each student the one on one attention that some students need. This is where tutors come in to play. Tutors have been a key instrument ineducation since as far back as the 1500 s (Gordon 9). Tutoring is almost as old as educating children. Tutoring younger students is also still going strong in the twentieth century. Today it is more~important than ever due to the increase in students and low budgets that some schools have. When you tutor or volunteer you are doing a service for your community and for yourself. Some of the reasons that tutoring is needed in society are outlined next. According to Dorothy Lloyd, the trend of the 60 s included a rapidly changing population of students whose educational needs became difficult to meet due to their mobility and lack of achievement. This change stimulated a rise in tutor programs (46). As society became increasingly industrialized, families moved from city to city and their children went with them. Thus making it hard for teachers and schools to form a lasting bond between the children and the teachers. The education systems are radically changing due to the fact that previous material and techniques believed to be successful were no longer effective. The importance of education in modern society led to a sense of depression about the need to provide a good education. This need is supported by Reisner, Petry, Armigage (1990),who regarded tutoring and mentoring as highly relevant methods of intervention that addressed national, state, and local priorities (Lloyd 50). The age of the computer is an example of this. You can no longer do just about anything without a computer. If school districts don t have access to computers then their students are left behind. Moreover, during the 1800s, America witnessed an influx of immigrants coming from many parts of the world, they made tenement houses in New York s lower East Side a common destination. One person witnessing the living conditions of these tenements was journalist Jacob A. Riis. Riis s photograph titled: Twelve year old boy (who had sworn he was sixteen) pulling threads in a sweat shop, about 1889 substantiates the poor working conditions that children were exposed to in tenement sweatshops in which Riss s text asserts (99). Riis s photograph depicts a young boy sewing a garment while he is sitting in a chair with a cushion. He is wearing a white cap and appears to wearing a pajama top possibly signifying he had to go straight to work not even allowing him time to get dressed. Next to the boy is a pile of garments to show the amount of work to be done. In the background of the photograph, five men are standing behind the boy all in a line. The photograph also reveals the unsanitary working conditions in tenement sweatshops that Riss s text points out on numerous pages because the floor has shreds of dirty rags lying about, and it is filthy. The boy is looking straight into the camera lens as if he is posing for a family portrait, but the expression of the boy s face conveys gloom. The boy s eyes appear to be saying take me away from this awful place. Additionally, the boy s face appears black and soiled, which matches the cushion he sits upon, but oddly, his hat is entirely clean. Perhaps, someone rubbed some dirt on the boy s face in order to draw additional compassion from observers. On the other hand, one of the men in the photograph does not seem concerned ... • 47. The Ambiguity Of Gender In The Poetry Of Robert Herrick Robert Herrick wrote hundreds of poems about real or imagined women. It is generally conceded that his many fresh and fragrant mistresses were purely imaginary, but understanding how he constructs gender is vital in developing an accurate view of his poetic art. Modern criticism often depicts Herrick as a propagandist for the received standards of his day, yet close examination of his texts reveals that he recognized the ambiguities of gender and the inconsistencies of his era s beliefs pertaining to women, disrupted and interrogated them, and often engaged in outright parodic critique of accepted seventeenth century gender mores. The stance Herrick takes in relation to gender issues is rooted in the double coding of female presence that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Essay about The Zebra Mussel Populations of the zebra mussel, Dreissena polymorpha (Pallas), were first found in the Laurentian Great Lakes in 1988 (Hebert et al., 1989). This species is native to the Caspian, Aral, and Black Seas and the rivers that drain into them but has spread throughout Europe, principally during the 18th century. Since it is restricted to estuarine and freshwater habitats, it is presumed that it was introduced into North America by ballast waters of transoceanic vessels. Based on the substantial amount of genetic variation found in these initial populations, as estimated from electrophoretic variation of allozymes, the colonization of the Great Lakes was by a large number of immigrants and not just a few founders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This blockage can result in heat damage to power plants and necessitates costly removal or replacement of intake pipes (Minchin and Moriarty, 1998). Colonization by zebra mussels has devastating ecological impacts on native bivalves (Mackie, 1991; Haag et al., 1993), frequently driving them to local extinction. Zebra mussels readily, perhaps preferentially, settle on native bivalves and eventually cover them over. They filter the water so efficiently that they can lower the amount of suspended food organisms below levels needed to sustain native unionids. Their success in spreading rapidly and colonizing new areas is due to two features of zebra mussel biology. Firstly, zebra mussels produce large numbers ( gt; 30,000 per female) of planktotrophic veliger larvae which can survive for 10 15 days (Hebert et al., 1989). Such larvae are well suited for efficient dispersal by water currents, especially in riverine systems. Additionally, they don t require the presence of suitable host species of fish, as do native unionid larvae. Secondly, the spread of zebra mussels is aided by their ability to attach to objects by byssal threads (the same ability that leads to their fouling problems). Because of this ability, adult zebra mussels can attach to and be spread by ships, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
