The passage discusses the career of Auguste Rodin, one of the greatest sculptors of the late 19th century. Despite facing immense criticism early in his career, being refused admission to art schools and having his works rejected from salons, Rodin produced masterpieces like The Age of Bronze that showcased his innovative realistic style. His talent was so powerful that he eventually gained widespread fame and praise, with the French government purchasing his works, cementing his status as one of the most influential sculptors of his time.

The document discusses Petruchio's abusive behavior towards Katherine in Shakespeare's play "The Taming of the Shrew". It notes that from the beginning of the play, Petruchio exhibits warning signs of abusive behavior such as physically assaulting his servant. After marrying Katherine, Petruchio proceeds to verbally and physically abuse her through depriving her of food and denying her basic needs. While the abuse is overlooked by others in the play, to modern readers it is clear that Petruchio uses his power to break Katherine's spirit and exert control over her in an abusive manner.
World War II had a significant impact on the Middle East in the following ways:
1. It weakened European imperial powers and led to the end of their colonial rule in the region.
2. New arbitrary borders imposed by European powers after the war led to ongoing conflicts among ethnic and religious groups.
3. The founding of Israel in 1948 as a Jewish state displaced Palestinians and caused ongoing tensions and conflicts in the region.
The end of World War II marked the decline of European imperialism and the emergence of new conflicts as arbitrary borders divided ethnic and religious groups in the Middle East.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

3. A Sentimental Journey Through France And Italy
The prevailing cast of this period is not melancholy nor tragedy but farce . Discuss in relation to A
Sentimental Journey.
There exists the idea that the period occupied by sentiment was one of refined and intellectual
emotion. However, it seems that if this notion ever existed, it was quickly overcome with literature
occupying the theme of farce, either ironically or obliviously. A specific example we can point to to
clearly demonstrate this idea is A Sentimental Journey through France and Italy by Laurence Sterne.
While some contemporaries adored Sterne s work on a serious sentimental level, many other critics,
both past and present, see it instead as a conscious farcical parody of the idea and concept of sentiment
that was so revered and admired at the time. In A Sentimental Journey we see various elements of
farce through the different aspects presented to us as readers, ranging from the characters within the
story, with a focus on Mr. Yorick, our main character, and farce is even present in the form of the book
itself. And it is these factors we will examine that highlight the farcical nature, not only of A
Sentimental Journey, but most likely a great deal of sentimental literature written of the time. The first
thing to address before we dive too deeply into the exploration of comedy and farce specifically in A
Sentimental Journey, we must first dissect what is meant by the term farce itself. The Concise Oxford
Dictionary of Literary Terms describes it as a kind

Social Work Identity Working in a position and fulfilling your duties are not always the same concept.
During the interview Captain Geis emphasized several times that the most important part of this job
was the soldier who was supported (2012). In this effect he embodied the NASW values of service,
integrity, human relationships, and worth of the person. These assignments gave him the opportunity
to care and direct soldiers, fulfilling both roles as a Social Worker and Officer. As an Army Officer the
lines between Social Worker and Officer may have been blurred together but each were an important
part of whom he is. A Social Work Officer is not just a Social Worker or an Officer. It is the
embodiment of a leader and caregiver; an individual whose career is dedicated to the taking care of
soldiers, their families, and the Army itself. This concept may tear at the ideology of the NASW, as
several of the ethical guidelines may be skewed as the requirements of the Army culture differ from
the civilian counterpart (Tallant Ryberg, 1999). Principally, a Social Worker strives to take care of the
client at all times (National Association of Social Workers, 2008). A major influence and difference for
Army Social Workers is the need to take care of the organization primarily. A Social Work Officer will

Barrie was born on May 9, 1860 in Kirriemuir Forfarshire, Scotland. He graduated Edinburgh
University in 1882 (J.M. Barrie), and later moved to London to pursue his passion in playwright (J.M.
Barrie Biography). He also worked as a journalist before. Barrie was already a hit for his many
successful novels, books, and plays. He liked to take long walks in London s Kensington Garden, and
there he met the five brothers who inspired his most famous play. He was very fond of the Llewelyn
family, and often play around with them (J.M. Barrie Biography). Barrie took care of them after their
parents passed away and became their guardian. The boys names were George, Jack, Peter Michael,
and Nicholas. It is said that the story Peter Pan was to entertain the boys. Barrie then made it into a
play to help support them after he had taken them in. Peter Pan then became a huge success.
Writing Career
Barrie explored many genres in his writing career. He went from being a weaver s son to writing
novels, books, and plays; he also challenged himself to write different genres (Avery, G). His first
book, Auld Licht Idylls in 1888 was successful along with his several books, and novels. After 1897,
he focused more on writing for the theatre, in which later he wrote Peter Pan. Peter Pan was first
performed in London on 27 Dec. 1904 (Barrie, J.M.). An excerpt from Peter Pan When Wendy grows

DOUGLASS, AN AMERICAN SLAVE. The Explicator 69.2: 86 89. In Peyser s article, The Attack on
Christianity in Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, he argues that
Douglass seems to believe that slavery is not a perversion of Christian doctrine but rather its perfect
embodiment. In the Narrative, Douglass desires to influence his audience beliefs that he is not against
all religions but instead desires to gain their support and raise uncertainties of Christianity itself.
Peyser writes about religion in the Narrative and how Douglass compares it to passages from the
Bible. Peyser also draws special attention to the appendix ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a direct allusion to the story of Adam and Eve and the apple tree that drew Eve in, prompting
her to make the first sin. Peyser states that in this type of reading, Douglass writes of the Colonel
setting himself up as a god . This also relates back to Mr. Covey, who believes the same. He truly
believes he s a devout Christian because he prays and believes the Bible tells him that slavery is.
Peyser writes that this is interesting because with himself believing him godlike, and Douglass writing
him as a snake, alluding back to Satan in the Bible, Covey both represents the overseer in terms that
suggest both God s omnipresence and Satan s readiness to strike at every opportunity . He backs up
this claim by adding in the quote from Douglass Narrative about Covey being behind every tree,
stump, bush, and window, and then adds, Satan and God show up primarily as layers of snares and
contenders for universal mastery, leaving us with two fundamentally comparable species of bondage:
to Satan on the one hand, to God on the

7. The Impacts Of Western Music And Its Effects On Western...
Music plays a significant rule in our lives. It s a melody and rhythm we live in. It plays a very
essential rule in our day to day to life when it comes to expressing feelings, passing time and for other
uses as well. Though we in general may not think about how music has changed so much in the past
few decades we must acknowledge the fact todays music is the outcome of the various change in the
past. Today s majority of music we hear is what we define as more as a westernized music.
Considering other cultures in the world, a huge impact of western music is seen within them.
Westernization and modernization are two different words with different meanings and they have two
different impacts on a society. Modernization is used to define the improvements and show a
progressive transition from one stage to another. Westernization is the concept of being influenced by
the customs and techniques of the western society and reflecting them in a non western culture. This
essay will discuss furtherly about the impact of the western society on music cultures of North India
and Korea by looking from both the positive and negative point of this impact.

Effects of Capitalism on Production Conservation of Nature

ARCH 596: Seminar on the Built Environment II: Landscape and Society
Dr. Ross E Adams
Abstract
The report will be primarily focused on the influence of capitalism on production and conservation of
nature. From being individuals dependent upon nature humans have become forces which manipulate
and effect nature. Besides this, the very fact that we use the term resource for nature represents that
humans have developed the habit of considering nature as a commodity. The idea of commodification
of nature has been explored in this report through the texts of Karl Marx, Neil Smith and Noel
Castree. This report also tries to investigate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The relation between efforts to isolate and conserve nature and fear of uncertain future was also a
topic worth exploring through the above mentioned projects. In discussing this relation the analogy
between the current scenario and the effort from the 70 s onward to conserve fauna through zoos, due
an impending fear of loss of species has been examined. Another crucial aspect of these projects was
the displacement of land and tress from their natural habitat to the artificial biomes. Movement of
large amount of fertile soil and trees from their native place to an alien place and calling it a
conservational phenomenon seems paradoxical and requires further analysis. The idea of colonizing
space as a future prospect has been explored particularly with reference to Biosphere 2 a comparison
between the present responses to the crisis and relevant responses which have been proposed but not
implemented has also been discussed in this report. To sum up this report analyzes the political and
capitalistic motives behind the conservational projects which are resulting from climate crisis. Climate
change has started affecting us by and large. The frequency of natural disasters such as earthquakes,
floods etc. is increasing day by day. We have arrived at a moment of grave danger as confirmed by
many environmental scientists. Experts on climate crisis still say that we have the time to avert the

In the eighteenth century, Gothic story was an extremely popular form of literature, and it has been a
major genre since then. The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and A Rose for Emily by
William Faulkner are both Gothic horror stories consisting madness and suspense. The Gothic horror
story carries particular conventions in its setting, theme, point of view, and characterisation. Both
Gilman and Faulkner follow the conventions of the Gothic horror story to create feelings of gloom,
mystery, and suspense that are essential for compelling stories. Goth is a term that originally referred

Setting in the Gothic horror story is important as it creates tone and atmosphere in the story. One of
the conventional settings in the Gothic horror story is often in a remote locale with an isolated
architecture. Gilman follows the conventions of the Gothic story by setting up the scene as the narrator
of The Yellow Wallpaper describes the house and feels its ground has fallen into a slight state of
disrepair. There were greenhouses, too, but they are all broken now. There was some legal trouble, I
believe, something about the heirs and co heirs; anyhow, the place has been empty for years. The
spoils my ghostliness, I am afraid, but I don t care #65293;there is something strange about the house
#65293;I can feel it (Gilman 76). The narrator also complains about the room that she lives in,
especially the yellow wallpaper. She mentions about the wallpaper several times, saying that when
you follow the lame uncertain curves for a little distance they suddenly commit suicide #65293;plunge
off at outrageous angels, destroy themselves in unheard of contradictions (Gilman 77). Gilman creates
the setting that is superficially tranquility but actually a place of confinement. In The rose for Emily,
Faulkner uses a big, giant house to have the Grierson family isolated from other town people. A Rose
for Emily is set in Faulkner s mythical country, Yoknapatawpha, Mississippi. The narrator describes

The strongly mannered opinions that Englishmen had formed towards the Native Americans during
this time of Early Virginia were very incredulous. The English and Native Americans had a
complicated partnership. Englishmen actually had their first encounter with the Native Americans in
December of 1606, where they were welcomed upon arrival by Native Americans in an attack towards
the Englishmen. Although, the Englishmen perceived the Americans as very prestigious individuals,
they knew even before getting to Jamestown that they would heavily rely on the Americans for their
crops, their land and other helpful resources that the Indians were known for. While the Englishmen
had very poor opinions regarding the Native Americans based on them being uneducated
Conservatives, Native Americans were helpful towards Englishmen in a number of ways despite their
troublesome conflicts towards each other. Prior to arriving in Jamestown, Englishmen had many

17. Byke Essay
To encourage a greater bike mode share, our solution is to create an app called Bykes that would be
used as an aide to bikers whenever they wanted to plan bike trips and ride along routes. The main
feature of the app is that it will route bike riders from their origin to their destination while keeping
them on designated bike lanes and trails as much as possible. The service will ask each user what their
comfort level is before the route is chosen, and then the algorithm will choose a path that best reflects
this comfort level. With a more experienced biker, the service will route them on a more direct path,
but that path might include roads that have a higher traffic volume or roads that lack dedicated bike
lanes. The more experienced ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This will allow the roads to be rated on actual users experiences and allow for iteration of the quality
of these roads over time. The comfort rating will be dynamic instead of static. In addition to this
survey, users can also input the location of specific hazards along bike routes. This includes hazards
such as potholes or obstacles in the path, a rough pavement condition, construction, and more.
Construction was one of the more prominent issues that arose in our Google Form survey, which
makes sense because construction normally occurs at the edges of the roadway, which is where bike
lanes are often located. An example of this is seen in Figure 3. Figure 3: Construction blocking a bike
lane (Gatoona 2012). It s important to take these obstacles into account when routing bikers, because
the hazards will often cause the riders to swerve into traffic, which will not provide for a safe and
comfortable biking experience. Sources of Data Initially, the roads will need to be evaluated for their
comfort levels so they can be properly matched with bikers that need a certain minimum comfort
level. Two methods can be used to assist in this evaluation: Bike Level of Service (BLOS) and Level
of Traffic Stress (LTS). These are two different ways of quantifying the comfort levels of the roads for
bikers. They include variables such as vehicle volumes, speed

19. Essay on Post-colonial Encounters in the Early 20th Century
Alfred Noyes wrote The Empire Builders at the turn of the twentieth century. Despite the time at
which it was written in, there are various post colonial themes regarding the hierarchy of difference.
The tone of the poem is pessimistic which is understandable since Noyes is writing during the
Naturalist period of English literature. Noyes is speaking to the middle class of England; those who
fulfill their duties as they come (Noyes, 45). He uses the first person plural article to create a
unification between the readers and the narrator. Noyes, in his poem, addresses two postcolonial
themes of Christianity as a vehicle of colonization, and the fallacies of European philosophy. In this
essay, I argue that the themes and structure that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since the empire builder has more lines of description, he is situated in a higher category of social
stratification.
Another instrument that allows the empire builder to situate himself in higher categories of hierarchy
is Christianity. Noyes gives Christianity a large amount of agency in the discourse of colonialism.
Christianity was composite in producing Africa as backward. Christianity has two roles: firstly, it is a
method by which the white man created an inferiority complex amongst the natives and secondly it
created a clear distinction between colonizer and native. At the beginning of the poem, he mentions
the superiority of the white man and describes them as the Lord God of battles... (Noyes, 5). By saying
this, he is not only amplifying the inequality between the white man and the native but also
introducing Christianity as a method of creating the divide. On line thirty six, there is a description of
the empire builder as having a shadowy crown of thorn (Noyes, 36). At this point in the poem, Noyes
is slightly empathizing with the empire builder since he has to carry all the burden of the country on
his back. Furthermore, by saying that he has a crown of thorns, Noyes is comparing the status of the
empire builder to that of Jesus Christ, which is establishing the former as the highest authority in
societal hierarchy. Towards the end of the poem, Noyes makes the distinction between heaven and
home. This is

20. The Theme Of American Pastoral By Philip Roth
Human beings strived for a better life since the beginning. Mankind witnessed a never ending race for
happiness, wealth, power and superiority. Many revolutions changed the course of history and became
watershed events having great impact on the human life. While some of the ideas lived on, some of the
ideas were short lived. American Dream was one of such ideas which laid the foundation for the
making of United States of America. The Statue of Liberty itself symbolizes the idea of the Great
American Dream. The celebrated idea of American Dream had tremendous impact on the entire nation

The pastoral was initially originated by the Greek poet Theocritus and the Latin poet Virgil, who wrote
poems about the shepherds ( pastor is Latin for shepherd ). In Shostak s book Philip Roth: American
Pastoral, The Human Stain, The Plot Against America, the traditional pastoral is described as: a
deliberate conventional poem expressing an urban poet s nostalgic image of the peace and simplicity
of the life of the shepherds and other rural folk in idealized natural settings (qtd. in. Shostak 34). In
American Pastoral, Roth presents the story of Levovs, an American family, who in search of the
American dream, gain wealth and success, but suffers from heartache and pain due to the adverse
situations. In a way, it is similar to the story of Job in the Holy Bible, in which Job s life moves from
one phase to another, from poverty to riches, and then back to the former. The novel consciously
alludes to Milton s epic poem Paradise Lost, both thematically and formally, with the Jewish post war

Most people can easily identify with the theme: life is an on going exploration of the unknown. This
applies to the people who set out to do something, and then bang! Plot twist! Turning an adventure
into the unexpected; tsunami, your car running out of gas on the way to school, or even getting food
poisoning after going to a five star restaurant, etc. It applies to many fiction writing such as The Rime

unexpected for Jennifer Enders, another traveler, traveling the Atlantic with her husband. Jennifer is
described to be warmhearted, by the way she spoke of the sinking ship. Jennifer reports on the poor
circumstances for the ship s crew and passengers, when she says it is really scary to see a ship sinking
out your porthole. The people were asked to donate clothes to those coming in from the lifeboats. As
Jennifer alternates the problem she stated we were a rescue ship in this sentence, it helps us realize
how serious the situation is. The fact that the ship had proudly plowed the Atlantic for 40 years , tells
us that the passengers not anyone, had expected that ship to sink after departure. Maybe the hole in the
ship was caused by a terrorist or maybe the ship was old and had weathered. But this cruise had
brought even bigger bombshells. Fifty passengers were lifted up to or father, while survived by the
other 154 people who were able to survive a modern titanic. Those of which have fallen into that

all adds up to be an unexpected occurrence, since no one would pay $1,000 to $16,000 to cruise on a

We get many things natural world such as food, water, animals, and plenty of oxygen. We owe this to
a good ecosystem, and a good ecosystem requires a stable group of specimens with competitive traits
that help balance out the populations, and clean atmosphere. One threat to ecosystems are specimens
from another ecosystem that invade another ecosystem threatening them to extinction; also known as
invasive species. Invasive species have been kind of mixed bag usually, but to me, it takes some
restrictions to help protect the environment from invasive species. The problem with when you
introduce alien species to another land is that they can decrease population rates of specimens that are
essential to an ecosystem. Native species as well as prey and predators are evolved to balance each

It s just we have to be very cautious about what species end up being carried off our ships when
traveling to other areas if we are to keep the population of those areas intact so the specimens can
continue to evolve properly. Now it s true that nature is adaptable and some specimens can adapt to
invasive species and the effects it has started with destroying plants or prey specimens, but that takes
thousands of years and the effects end up feeling sudden. Certain crops can be wiped out or some
native animals that we depend on can go extinct as well if something messes with the food lab. That s
why think it s important to inspect cargo for invasive species and educate people about the dangers of
foreign specimens as it doesn t take long and can be include in transportation manuals. These type of
policies have been implemented long time ago and are working pretty fine. Plus, some geneticists and
environmentalists are studying the effects of invasive species so they know which ones are best suited
and which ones they can look out for. This can be good for Oregon to think about when caring about

26. William Shakespeare s Sonnet 116
Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare and What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why by
Edna St. Vincent Millay are both sonnets that discuss companionship and a glimpse of the poets
experiences. In Sonnet 116 , Shakespeare illustrates how capability is weakened by its metaphysical
stereotype and ideals such as, love which never seems to wither away according to Shakespeare while
on the contrary, in What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why Millay feeds on the chaos
between the ideal of love and its harsh reality, heartbreak. Both poets seem to be love struck but there
is a significant difference in the two. I will compare and contrast Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare
and What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, And Where, And Why by Edna St. Vincent Millay. I will also
inquire and analyze why this particular form of poetry established different effects.
What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why and Sonnet 116 are, in fact, two different
sonnets. What Lips My Lips Have Kissed, and Where and Why is a Petrarchan or Italian sonnet; Due
to the fact, that this sonnet has a rhyme scheme that divides the first eight lines from the last six lines.
By dividing the poem, the rhyme scheme helps to emphasize the theme. The overall theme of the
poem is loss, which occurred in the past. Since the rhyme scheme is divided into two parts; the first
part uses the metaphor of lovers while the second part uses the metaphor of a tree. On the

We have all realized, at one point, that war is a part of our society; it is a part of our lives whether we

charitable, or to stand up for your political beliefs. The sad truth is that our society today no longer
accepts the war aspect as being a hero. In my eyes a person that is brave and courageous to risk their

others, they have lives of their own. Did anyone care to ask the question, does he have a family at

Conclusion
In conclusion, our current resource allocation does not meet the deadlines of June 30, 2012 and we
have offered a few of our own solutions to alleviating these drawbacks. We have established that the
facility specialist rang up approximately 662hrs in our initial number crunching diagnosis, and were
able to balance that out with a secondary facility specialist. As we have pointed out before, we will
increase costs by doing this, but the costs outweigh the potential for not meeting our primary
deadlines. Attached is a list of the tasks that would be associated with the Facility Specialist which
would have him completely over allocated, from helping to select an architect, to installing equipment,
we do need the expertise but as a manager we have to mitigate the risk involved with over extending
someone s human capabilities. As we continue to plan this endeavor, we will uncover many things that
may need to change and hopefully with this pre planning we were able to reduce the amount of
changes we will make later. Thank you.

Farmers put lime (a very strong alkaline substance) and special fertilizers in there soil neutralize the
acid in the soil on a regular daily basis.
In general, soil structure is classified as sandy, clay, or loam, although most garden soils are mixtures
of the three in varying proportions. A sandy soil is very loose and will not hold water. A clay soil is
dense and heavy, sticky when wet, and almost brick hard when dry. Loam is a mixture of sand and
clay soils, but it also contains large quantities of humus, or decayed organic material, which loosens
and aerates clay soil and binds sandy soil particles together. In addition, humus supplies plant
nutrients. Then, soil structure can be improved by digging in compost, manure, peat moss, and other
organic matter.
Parts of western United States, Minneapolis, northeastern North America and east and north Canada
are places in North America where soil is more sensitive to acid deposits then any other places. Many
factors, including the soil chemistry and the type of rock determine the environments ability to
neutralize the acid deposits from the rain.
Soils naturally contain small amounts of poisonous minerals such as mercury, aluminum, and
cadmium. Normally, these minerals do not cause serious problems, but as the acidity of the soil
