2. Boys and Girls, by Alice Munro, Brother Dear, by Bernice...
Dreams are something all humans share in common and they manifest the realization of our lives.
They have a great influence over our essence and can provide colossal amounts of courage and
strength to accomplish our greatest desires. However, when we do not have dreams to fight for our
lives become meaningless and sorrowful, nevertheless this is the situation many people face
throughout their lives. Broken dreams have become a popular theme among writers because a
connection can be made with the theme and because there one s truth can be faced. Whether
dreams are forgotten or unaccomplished, there is a theory by philosopher Carl Jung that states,
Nothing has a stronger influence psychologically on their environment, and especially on... Show

Greg dreams are broken with his father s comments lacking concern in his ideas and disapproving
of them, leaving him resentful and unhappy with his own life and family. Nevertheless his father s
insufficiency to support him did not refrained Greg from pursuing his passion, but rather gave
him the strength and drove him to confront his father by letting him know that Some things are
more important (Friesen 30) and that for him his dream meant more to him than his approval of
them. In A Cap for Steve Steve s father Dave discourages his son passion for baseball and forces
him to concentrate in carpentry to bring money to their struggling family. Dave does not display
any sing of support for Steve dreams, which to him are rather childish until he realizes how
much they mean to Steve and how serious he is about baseball. Dave lets him know his approval
when he states I could be your coach... watch you become a great pitcher (Callaghan 177), at this
point he changed and know believes in his son and his ability to reach his dream and letting him
know that as long as he is happy and doing what he loves, he will be proud of him. The

Since household chores is the most common activity given in the residential care by the
facilitators, the effect of this activity is massive. As mentioned by Moore (2013), Housework
may not be glamorous, but it s necessary, and knowing how to do it efficiently and effectively is
a life skill. Based on the survey results, 69% of the respondents claim that they never did the
activities given in the residential care, such as cooking, cleaning, and washing among others, while
the remaining 31% did the said activities before being admitted in the residential care. The results
imply that the activities improve their skills, especially their life skills. In residential care, the
children are taught how to cook, clean and wash their clothes. These activities were not usually
performed by the majority before being admitted in the residential care. On the other hand, the skills
of the minority are enhanced since they are expected to perform these activities daily. Overall, the
activities provided by the residential care promotes positive behavior and attitudes to the children in

5. Omega 6 Research Paper
In the last century, changes in the Western diet have changed the intake of omega 6 fatty acids (fats
from meat and vegetable oils) compared with omega 3 fatty acids (fats from fatty marine fish).
Many studies show that the change of attitude in the entry omega 3 and omega 6 through diet
increased the propensity to inflammatory reactions that are associated with the development of
autoimmune and allergic diseases.
Omega 3 and omega 6 are types of essential fatty acids, which means that the body does not
produce, but must bring nutrition. In modern dietary sources of omega 3 fatty acids are
represented on a small scale, mainly from fatty sea fish: salmon, sardines, herring, tuna. There are

disease, many forms of cancer, arthritis, neurodegenerative diseases, and all diseases that originate

Social Media has become a plague in our world today, it s like a disease that is spread around very

wonder if teenagers are excited about this whole new trend might as well give it a shot, and see

Facebook jealousy is bad, for that it causes so many problems and arguments with your partner
which in term can lead us to even consider cheating.
Cheating is another negative implication from using too much Facebook. By using Facebook
in a unhealthy matter it increases the chance of someone cheating, it definitely increases the
odds of a couple to cheat on each other, because Facebook has a private message feature allowing
anybody to send a message where just the two people are the only ones that can read and see the
messages. To some extent if the person doesn t want their partner to find out they re cheating,
they will even create a fake profile to reach out to the person. A great example of this is one of
my uncles actually cheated on his girlfriend using the same tactic I talked about. He used the
private message feature which allowed him to keep his affair a secret from his girlfriend. While his
girlfriend thought he was at work, he was actually cheating on another girl.
Low self esteem is another negative implication, that can happen to us for using Facebook for
such a long time! By using Facebook too much our self esteem will drop, because we ll always be
thinking about what other s think about our profile, posts, updates, and also being concerned about
having the perfect life, and getting likes. There are so many great examples of this, but one that
always comes to mind is the tv show Catfish. Mostly all of the time the person

7. Differences And Similarities Between Formula 1 And Indycar
One of the most obvious examples of differences and similarities are the cars, with Formula 1
and IndyCar being similar and NASCAR being the odd one out. However, the differences and
similarities go further than just the looks and the body design. Most people know that there are
mechanical differences between the cars, but not many know the specifics. The Montreal Grand
Prix website states, While the F1 and Indy cars feature open wheels and an open cockpit, NASCAR
drivers are enclosed in a sedan styled vehicle. It s also the heaviest of the three, averaging over
3,250 lbs (1,474 kg) compared to just over 1,500 lbs (680 kg) for F1 and IndyCar. The increased
weight is carried by a 5.86 liter V 8 engine, whereas the lighter F1 and Indy cars... Show more

While they all initially use ungrooved racing tires, if it s raining, IndyCar and F1 apply grooved
racing tires to overcome this challenge. In the aspect of cars, they have very few traits that they all
share. Though IndyCar and F1 cars may have more similarities, NASCAR s vehicles still have their
similarities to the other divisions.
Other than the cars themselves, the three series have other comparable factors, such as their
backstories. Each Motorsports division started in different regions. They were each started by
different individuals or groups of people. According to NASCAR s website, the sport became
more popular after the end of the second World War. In 1947, Bill France formed the first branch
of NASCAR or the modern Monster Energy Series . Later, in the year 1982, members of
NASCAR made a new series, which was given the name the Late Model Sportsman Division,
which later became the XFINITY Series. There is also a third series, the Craftsman Truck
Series, or the Camping World Truck Series that was formed, which uses trucks instead of cars.
The NASCAR website explains how the sport started and how it expanded with the two
additional series that it added. When the sport started, there was no organization. However, as
time went on, and because of men like Bill France, NASCAR became an organized and popular
sport. Founded in 1994, INDYCAR serves as the sanctioning body for the Verizon IndyCar Series...

9. Cultural Competence In Social Work
Cultural competence is a major component in social work as it enables us to communicate
effectively with people of different background and cultures. (Suppes Wells, p. 79.) By definition,
culture is a universal phenomenon as it refers to family values, education, work, religion, success,
food, and social class. (NASW, p. 14.) In this paper, I will compare and contrast my own cultural
background with that of one of my best friends, Dawn Denny who happens to be a Guyanese.
Most Haitians place a great emphasis on family values regardless of their social status. While both
parents play a vital role in the family, the male is the dominant one, the head of the house,
despite the fact that the mother works, rears, cares for the children and maintains the house. It s
tremendously hard to get a job in Haiti as the labor industry is extremely bias, you not only need
to know someone from the inside, but it is also based on age and color of your skin. The
younger, the lighter the skin pigment, and the more likely it is to get hired. As a result of that,
women often struggle with sexual harassment in the work place. The probability of getting a job
without a college degree is very slim to none so therefore, a college education is crucial. A child
primary responsibility is to focus in school and get good grades until graduated college, but
because college tuition is so expensive, only the upper class can afford to send their kids to school.

10. Examples Of Stereotyping In Grendel
In chapter four, Grendel brings a corpse to the mead hall and attempts to shows his sympathy to
the dead man by saying, Mercy! Peace! (Gardner 51). He also said, Friend! Friend! (Gardner 52),
he tries to be friends with human by showing his sorrow. However, people in the meadhall think
that Grendel kills the man and he brings to the corpse to show off his strength and warns
mankind to stay away, people sees Grendel as a threat to them. People misunderstand Grendel s
because of Grendel s appearance, Grendel looks like a monster, and monster is always evil and
violent in human s perspective, they judge solely base on one s appearance, thus they are
stereotyping Grendel. Stereotyping is a very common phenomenon in today society, people tend
to impose everything that they acknowledged about a specific kind of people on to every one of
them, we categorized people by their skin colors, sex, religions, cultural background, etc. I have
seen a lot of examples of stereotyping in school community, when people say, That s so Asian
when they see people have kimchi or chow mein for lunch; when boys think girls are not strong
enough to play soccer; and when people think blonde is stupid than the others.... Show more content

Final Paper Comparison between two works of art
Pompeo Girolamo Batoni Diana and Cupid 1761 and Corrado Giaquinto The Lamentation 1740 s
Neoclassical Art was an art form that followed the Baroque and Rococo art periods.
Neoclassicism was a way for artists to display their wish to return to meaningful art, to escape the
frivolity of landscapes and still life paintings, and paint something that had a moral, educational or
inspirational value to the viewer. Neoclassical art was an attempt to return knowledge and purity
back to art. Neoclassicism was mainly focused on Greek and Roman arts and stories of the
classical era with some new advancement. It was a revival of antiquity. In Pompeo ... Show more

In each of these works you can clearly see a loving gaze between subjects. In Diana and Cupid,
Diana is gazing so lovingly and playfully at Cupid, while Cupid is staring at his bow his hand is
placed upon her leg for support while reaching for it. In The Lamentation, only an angel is
touching the body of Jesus, holding his hand, but the other main figure in the painting has her
hands clasped together and is gazing at Jesus in a loving yet mournful way. The use of color in
the paintings can easily be compared and contrasted. Both works are fairly repetitive in their color
use, and the colors chosen are clear indicators for where the artist wants the viewer to look. For
example in Diana and Cupid her clothing is a bright vibrant red, and while there are many other
beautiful colors throughout the painting none are quite as vibrant as the red used. This clearly
shows that the human figure is the main subject of the art. In The Lamentation the use of color is
a little different, it would seem that the artist used color on all of the other subjects except for
Jesus naked body which in turn I believe makes Jesus stand out from the picture, because there is
color used everywhere but on Jesus you focus in on him while all of the other subjects are kind of
blending together. In each of the paintings the artist also uses the shadowing technique. The use of
light and dark is captivating in The Lamentation; a lot of it has to

Since 2014, hospital chains and insurers have merged and acquired urgent care centers with the
express purpose of taking advantage of this new business venture. There are many reasons for
this endeavor and one of them happens to be the rise in active patients aged 50 and over who opt
for convenient care for illness and injuries at the same time appreciate being connected to a bigger
system where their primary doctor may practice and where urgent visits can become part of their
medical record.
Currently in the United States, there are 10,000 registered urgent clinics and the numbers can only
go up. The Urgent Care Association of America (UCAA) maintains that out of the 10,000, 7100
clinics offer full time urgent care services, with 15% owned in joint ventures with hospitals and
22% by hospitals. Research by the UCAA revealed that about 87% of urgent care center operators

The Land Ethic is an essay written by Aldo Leopald in order to convince readers of a new view
centered around the biotic community and the rejection of anthropocentrism. It continually
supports non human life along with human life as long as it is beneficial to the biotic community.
1. Carefully explain what Leopold means by the land ethic.
When speaking of the land ethic, Aldo Leopold states that A thing is right when it tends to preserve
integrity, stability, and beauty of the biotic community. It is wrong when it lends otherwise. This is
boiled down to a simple point saying that when something is eco friendly, it supports and is the

He states but just what and whom do we love? before going on to say Certainly not the soil...the
waters...the plants...the animals... (p239) Aldo Leopold despises the destruction of the land,
therefore this glamorization of the land used in tandem with destruction provided for a very
disrespectful and paradoxical view of the land. Why does Leopold believe that a land ethic is both
an evolutionary possibility and an ecological necessity? Evolutionary possibility: an evolution of
the moral code. Now including non humans. First ethic: between individuals.
Leopald believes that the land ethic is both an evolutionary possibility and an ecological necessity
because throughout the course of philosophy, there has been an evolution from first ethics which
dealt with relation between individuals (p238) to a land ethic which now focuses on the relation

Role of Women in Things Fall Apart Chinua Achebe s Things Fall Apart gives us a vivid
description of the Igbo culture through the stories of Okonkwo and his village, Umuofia. In regards
to Igbo culture, contributions of women cannot be ignored. Although their position and status
seems to be underestimated by the people in the novel, women do play an important role in the
Igbo culture in four aspects: women take care of the children, do all the housework, serve as
priestesses, and build relationships with other villages. Women who are mothers take the
responsibility to care for the children. In tribal culture, women undertake the mission of educating

Such examples can be found anywhere in the novel. The author describes those scenes to show
the work that is done by women and their importance to the village. Besides housework in daily
lives, Okonkwo s wives also need to prepare some events. For example, the author writes
Okonkwo s wives had scrubbed the walls and the huts with red earth until they reflected light (p.
34). This example shows how Okonkwo s wives get prepared for the Feast of the New Yam. The
Feast of the New Yam is the most important festival in the village, so the significance of women s
work is shown by preparing the festival. Hence, women play an critical role not only in daily
lives, but also in village events. Women like Chielo who are priestesses play an important role
in the religious life. Chielo, the priestess, is a spokesperson for one of the Igbo gods, Agbala.
Achebe writes in the novel, But Chielo...went on shouting that Agbala wanted to see his daughter
(p. 90). In this example, Chielo is no longer Ekwefi s friend whom she often talks with, but a
spokesperson becomes possessed by Agbala. A priestess is very powerful in Igbo culture. People
regard the words through a priestess s mouth as oracles. Therefore, God s spokesperson is
actually the spiritual leader of the people who hold in awe and veneration. No one can challenge
Chielo s authority in front of their god. The novel describes Okonkwo s failure to prevent his

The Dark Side of Enthusiasm Most often, enthusiasm is word of positive connotations, describing
one s passion for something. The Oxford English Dictionary defined it as intense and eager
enjoyment, interest, or approval . However, in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein, we begin to doubt this
positivity of enthusiasm, and question the daunting natures of extreme enthusiasm. As we track
the word enthusiasm and its derivatives, there appear to be a trend in which the meanings
develop; enthusiasm no longer only holds its popular definition. By following this word
throughout the novel, we can see its deterioration as the plot progresses, as it s passed on to
different characters, and as it s associated with different words. The first three appearances of
enthusiasm are in Walton s letters to his sister. I feel my heart glow with an enthusiasm which
elevates me to heaven, Walton says, for nothing contributes so much to tranquilize the mind as a
steady purpose (6); being in the middle of nowhere among merciless ice and lifeless landscape,
Walton s enthusiastic determination and clear purpose in his scientific endeavor is the life force
that keeps him sane and strong. It is almost a requirement in order to survive in a lonely scientific
journey, closely paralleled by Frankenstein s study. These associations of enthusiasm with passion
for learning and discovery continued in the first two chapters after Frankenstein takes over the
narrative. The word showed up once in the beginning of

Exceptionality and Geniuses
The term genius is associated with an array of diverse connotations. When reviewing the
literature, it is vital to note that a specific definition and approach to measure whether or not a
person is a genius, is rather complex. Garber, M. (2002) declares genius as a special inflation and
over time has become a commodity, an ambition, and even a lifestyle. The underlying question is:
how, and what makes an individual a prodigy? One may argue that completing an intelligence
quotient (IQ) test will suffice and determine whether an individual exemplifies genius like
tendencies, as others argue otherwise. There are tendencies and certain behaviours that geniuses
exhibit differing them from other individuals who are more or less considered normal . Therefore,
relationships with geniuses tend to differ as their intelligence and typical demeanor is peculiar. In
the film The Silence of the Lambs directed by Jonathan Demme, one of the main characters,
Hannibal Lecter portrays unusual behaviour. Based on his questionable character, one may argue
that genius like behaviour is conspicuous; this is seen through his relationships, his intellect, and
overall demeanor.

creating and implementation of the Military Decision Making Process has changed significantly
since World War I. The US Army did not have a published staff doctrine or guidance to assist
commanders in the decision making process. The Regulations for Field Maneuvers (1910), did
not provide staff guidance. In 1914, the field service regulation (FSR) identified the need for

information that was intended to guide the operations of staff of all units and territorial commands.
The Staff Officer Field Manual (1932), was a detailed manual that explained staff functions and

33. The Competition Between Coca Cola And Coca-Cola
In economics, competition is where rivalry is portrayed in terms of achieving the goal such as
increasing profits, market share and sales capacity by varying the elements in general marketing,
products, prices, distribution and promotion. The microeconomic theory differentiates between
perfect competition and imperfect competition, summarizing that no system of resource allocation
is much more efficient than perfect competition.
Competition going as per the theory causes commercial firms to develop new products, services
and technologies, which would offer consumers greater choices and better products. The greater
selection typically causes lower prices for the products, compared to what the price would be if
there was no competition or little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each brand manager is given responsibility for the success or failure of the brands and is
compensated accordingly. This form of competition thus pitted a brand against another brand.
Finally, the company also encourages competition between individual employees. An example of
this is a contest between sales representatives this one alone helps them to market their products
with very little competition from other companies. The sales representative with the highest sales
or the best improvement in sales over a period of time would gain benefits from the employer or
customers. It should also be noted that business and economic competition sales and marketing in
most countries is often limited or restricted. Competition often is subject to legal

The chronic disease burden has increased the need for a statewide and national approach in its
detection, prevention, and treatment of heart failure. In the state of Indiana heart disease is shown
to be leading the way with a total of 13,394 individuals who have died in 2013 (Indiana State,

100,000 in 2001 to 37.3 per 100,000 hospitalization rates have increased (Center for Disease, 2011).
Heartfailure rehospitalization rate has increased from 2007 2011 especially in those who are over
the age of 85. In 2011, there were a total of 41.9 per 1,000 hospitalizations due to heart failure.

The cardiac muscle cells can be affected by heart disease through the inability to maintain its
homeostasis through the calcium pump. If there is excess calcium within the heart it results in the
in ability of the heart muscle to relax. As a result, the ADP/ATP ratio increases, phosphocreatine
decreases, and energy stores are depleted. Furthermore, this imbalance affects the energy needed to
relax the left ventricle. Secondly, diastolic heart failure can occur from changes in preload,
afterload, renin angiotension aldosterone system, and the sympathetic nervous system. These
changes affect the fibrillar collagen within the extracellular matrix that affects the ability of the
ventricular to relax. These changes along with those compensatory mechanisms results in
continuous resistance that results in increased in left ventricular end diastolic pressure (McCance
Huether, 2010). Systolic heart failure results from the inability of the cardiac muscle to contract
effectively from inadequate cardiac output. As the cardiac output drops, compensatory mechanisms
to try to restore its function through takes place by ventricular remodeling. During this remodeling
phase, the heart begins to develop changes in its size and becomes hypertrophic that results in a
decreased ability of the heart to contract, decreased available oxygen, and available ATP. Secondly,
this hypertrophic states increases preload that results

36. Notes On Bloom s Connection Puzzles
Bloom s Connection Puzzles
a. The course content I would use this strategy for would be in Social Studies. However, this
concept could be applied to any area that would be taught in the eighth grade.
b. The learner will identify significant events, people, and documents in the major eras of United
States history.
c. This selected activity would work well for this content because it will allow the students to
explore different areas of a topic to help finish the puzzle. My thoughts are that this would be an
ongoing project that might take several days, weeks, or even the entire year as the students
explore United States history. My vision for this activity is to use puzzle pieces that are color
coded. One specific color for who, what, where, when, why, and how. The start of any puzzle
column could be any color and will be created by either the teacher or the student. The students and
teachers will then finish the puzzle column with as many different puzzle colors that are possible
that will help to explain the original puzzle piece. For instance, I might start with a who puzzle
piece with the name Rosa Parks. The students would then search that person to find how further
information to place on connecting color coded puzzle pieces. Another start might be a what with
Stamp Act written on it. The students would then find out further information to finish the puzzle.
Each column of the puzzle pieces would sit side by side to create a larger puzzle of our United

him to command only the Army of the Potomac. Chief of Staff, Peyton March, sent a telegram to
McClellan in refence to his orders and instructed him to speak first to Governor Dennison.
Suspicious of this message McClellan refused the invitation to Washington or to speak to Dennison.
Later, the General wrote to his wife that the rascals of Washington were after him again and that if
he could come out of this, he would never get himself in this position again. Because of this refusal,
he learned of his demotion via the National Intelligencer, a Washington newspaper. Although many

38. Truman Capote s Cold Blood
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is considered one of the first novels to establish a new genre.
Capote combined fictional elements to a real crime story that set the groundwork for future true
crime novels. The foundation of the story is the tragic murder of the Clutter family, Herbert,
Bonnie, Nancy, and Kenyon, and the effect it had on small town of Holcomb, Kansas. In Cold Blood
is a journalistic novel that has the credibility of fact, the immediacy of film, the depth and freedom
of prose, and the precision of poetry, . Throughout the novel, Capote switches between the
perspective of the killers, the victims, and those who live in the town. This creates a unique and at
times truly staggering parallel that ultimately forces the reader... Show more content on

This contrast can first be seen in the descriptions of Herbert Clutter, the father of the Clutter
family, who was cut a man s man figure. His shoulders were broad... his square jawed confident
face retained a healthy hued youthfulness, (Capote 6) and Dick Hickock, his face, which seemed
composed of mismatching parts... the lips were slightly aslant, the nose askew, and his eyes not
only situated at uneven levels but of uneven size, (Capote 31) and Perry Smith, his chunky,
dwarfish legs, broken in five places and pitifully scarred, still pained him so severely, (Capote

Whereas Dick and Perry both are scarred by prior vehicle crashes with some part of their body
maimed and permanently changed for the worse as a result. As well as littered with tattoos across
their face and arms, they are, in a sense, the exact opposite of Mr. Clutter. Due to Mr. Clutter

39. Summary Of Balzac And The Little Chinese Seamstress
In the novel, Balzac and the Little Chinese Seamstress, by Dai Sijie, it can be observed that
through another character s perspective as well as their own, Luo and the Seamstress
relationship is less than ideal and what once may have been a whimsical experience would soon
fall from its glorious state. A big indicator of the relationship issues is the Old Miller s point of
view, him being unbiased and just an observer. His use of imagery may symbolize more than
what initially meets the eye, so to speak. The Old Miller relates the Seamstress to a swallow, her
arms as wings and he shows her flying through the air with the other birds, this could show many
different things but to tie all this together it would be best to say that this shows that the Old
Miller sees the Seamstress as a free living and elegant being. He shows her flying above her
surroundings and that seemingly depicts her as a celestial being, above(or better than) this
world in which this takes place. This is contradictory to how the Old Miller views Luo. The
Miller briefly goes over Luo while calling part of him shrunken, and depicting him falling asleep.
At first glance the shrunken comment was very accurate but it may also be to show how much
of opposites Luo and the Seamstress are, what with the Seamstress flying with the birds and Luo
laying on the shore, shrunken. The Old Miller also tells how the Seamstress falls into the water,
her wings, extended, did not fold until she touched the surface of the water and plummeted into
the depths , this not only shows that she can jump into a pool of water but also may give an
unintended representation of the relationship between Luo and the Seamstress. Although this
would be beyond the Miller s knowledge it is possible that Sijie intended this, the Seamstress
being the bird, being swallowed by the water, surrounded in it s embrace. Moreover Luo is
controlling the Seamstress in ways that are unconventional to a good relationship, he trains her to
be civilized and won t let her be herself, sounds like he s enveloping her into his world, much like
the water envelops the Seamstress into itself and pulls her to the depths. The Miller s overseeing
eye may provide an

40. Airline Deregulation Essay
On October 24, 1978, President Carter signed into law the Airline Deregulation Act. The purpose
of the law was to effectively get the federal government out of the airline business. By allowing the
airlines to compete for their customers travel dollars, was the thinking, that fares would drop and an
increased number of routeswould spring up.
Expected Results
The results of airline deregulation speak for themselves. Since the government got out of the
airline business, not only has there been a drop in prices and an increase in routes, there has also
been a remarkable increase in airline service and safety. Airline deregulation should be seen as the
crowning jewel of a federal de regulatory emphasis. Prices are down: Airline ... Show more content

A drop in fares has been the best result of the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978. It has been the
impetus for the increase in the number of flights, which in turn has spurred a drive for greater
safety in airlines. But with the current airline market, this development has given us one negative.
Since ticket prices have dropped to new lows, the realities of an industry which operates on such
economies of scale dictates that only a few competitors have the capacity to operate within the
market. This is not the desired effect of either political side on this issue, but it is an economic
necessity with the environment that has been created, very similar to that of public utilities and
phone companies.
The Best of Both Worlds
The U.S. airline market admittedly operates in an oligarchal fashion. But is this not the best
policy for air travel? The success of the large carriers has enabled a drop in fares, and while entry
into the market is difficult, it is not impossible. Upstarts such as Southwest Airlines are able to find
a market niche and exploit it into profitability. Maybe benevolent oligarchy should be the term...

Those in the de regulation camp see an opportunity to expand on the Deregulation Act. When the
act was written, the government was taken out of the business of setting fares and routes. But
various municipalities still retain ownership over airports. Given the massive improvements

Implementing a Performance Management Communication An effect communication plan is a
critical part of performance management. Performance management affects everyone in the
organization. It helps employees understand how they are contributing to the organizations goals,
what is expected of them, how they are doing, and how they can continue to grow, develop, and add
value to the business (Duggan, n.d.). The communication plan describes what the organization
wants to accomplish based on the information they provide their employees such as, the objectives
and outcomes identified. The communication plan should outline individual responsibilities for
everyone that is involved in the performance process. In addition, the communication plan acts as a
tool to ensure that everyone has the right information in a timely manner (Duggan, n.d.). Therefore,
effectively communicating a performance managementplan will ensure that all participants have a
clear and complete message, while ensuring that feedback is incorporated into the message
(Todericiu, Muscalu, Fraticiu, 2012).
Communication Plan An effective communication plan should address the following questions for

Sony Computer Entertainment v. Connectix Corporation
Sony Computer Entertainment v. Connectix Corporation, 203 F.3d 596 (2000), is a result of the
Ninth Circuit Court of applications which governed the replication of a copyrighted BIOS software
through the progress of an emulator software does not institute copyright violation but is protected
by reasonable usage.
The court also ruled that Sony s PlayStation symbol had not been tarnished by Connectix Crop s

Context of the case
Connectix begins the progress of the Virtual Game Station (VGS) in July 1998 as a Macintosh
software application that matches Sony s current Play Station video games console s hardware and
firmware.
This would make it likely for VGS operators to play games advanced for the play station on

Connectix s development approach was constructed upon inverse engineering the play Station s
BIOS firmware, primary by means of the uncharged BIOS to progress imitation for the hardware,
and then by evolving a BIOS of their own using the unique firmware as an aid for fixing.
Throughout the progress work, Connectix communicated Sony, demanding technical support for
finishing the VGS, but this appeal was finally decayed in September 1998.

The Home Front during World War II was the essential backbone of the military campaign that
was being waged in Europe and the Pacific. In order to ensure the success of the war the Home
Front needed to not only ensure its own survival but also the survival of the forces that were
engaged in combat. The Home Front of both the United Statesand England were similar in their
practices of supporting the war, but because of the advantages of the united states being isolated
from the fighting and being a land of plentiful recourses, and England being apart of an island
nation extremely close to the fighting, England had much more difficult position and their Home
Front was under a much more immediate threat. Both Home Fronts experienced hardships and
dramatic changes in their society as they were forced to adapt to a wartime economy, they were
also forced to adapt to social changes and a whole new society and way of life for the duration of
the war that would also change the future of both the United States and England. England being
separated by only the English Channel had much more to deal with than just a harsh restricted
economy they also had to deal with the immediate threat of could come from the European

48. Theme Of Trifles And A Doll House
The plot of both Susan Glaspell s Trifles and Henrik Ibsen s A Doll House provides scope for a
few scenes that lack the presence of all or any men. These scenes, consisting of communication
between the female characters, assist in developing the theme of women openly defying the fact
that the society they live in is primarily run by men. All the power and authority in their society,
no matter the situation, belongs to the men while the women are simply excluded. The women
in these plays defy the norms set by society and manage to evade the expectations of their
patriarchal societies. In Trifles , a division between the two sexes is quickly established as the
men enter the house and huddle by the stove while the women remain still by the door. As the
men start their detective work the women wander around the house to gather some of Mrs.
Wright s belongings. While searching for her belongings, the women discover an empty
birdcage and find a dead bird in a pretty box (Glaspell, 956) inside of Mrs. Wright s sewing
basket. Mrs. Hale jumps at the sight of the bird s neck and Mrs. Peters points out how somebody
wrung its neck (Glaspell, 957) similar to the way Mr. Wright was found earlier. Mrs. Wright s
murder of her husband can be seen as an act of feminine revolt against the male dominated society.
Another example of women defying against patriarchyis of Mrs. Hale and Mrs. Peters hiding the
evidence that can prove Mrs. Wright to be guilty of her husband s murder. Before their departure
from the Wright s house, as the men are returning, the sheriff suggests that the county attorney take
a look through the items Mrs. Peters had collected for Mrs. Wright. However, he decides that
anything collected by the women cannot have much significance and overlooks it. His assumption
that the women would have came forward if they saw any possible evidence costs him. The sheriff
s belief is that women derive their identity solely from their relationships with men; the dominant
gender.
The sheriff and the county attorney also joke about how Mrs. Peters is basically married to the
law (Glaspell, 959) suggesting that she would not hide anything because she is a devoted follower
of the law. Ironically, she had concealed

Communication is an important aspect of life and experiences. When it comes to learning
communication plays a major role due to the fact that it allows children to participate in active and

Superchargers and turbochargers both are methods of forced induction. Forced induction is
delivering compressed air to the engine. The reason for forced induction is simple more air means
to more power. When the engine is using the compressed air, it is called boost. Superchargers and
turbochargers are the two common types of forced induction. A superchargeris driven by a belt like
an alternator. A turbochargeris driven by the flow of exhaust. The debate of which is better is one
of the most talked about debate and there is no right or wrong answer. There are pros and cons
that make it imposable to say one is better. There may be one that is better for your use.
Turbochargers are bolted on the exhaust headers using exhaust gasses to spin and spool an
impellor in the turbo. This is efficiently using energy that would have been wasted. When the one
impellor is being spun by the exhaust the other is sucks air in the engine making boost. Since the
turbo is powered by the exhaust a lot of heat is made. You do not want that to go through your
engine because this could cause the engine to overheat. To prevent overheating problems an
intercooler is installed. The air travels through the intercooler during the proses the air is cooled.
One limitation of turbo is turbo lag, because the turbo is driven by the exhaust it takes some time
for the impellor to spool, but once it is spooled you can get full boost quickly. The advancements in
turbochargers have made turbo a lot better

1. Is it unethical for a company to intentionally understate its earnings? Why or why not?
Yes, it is clearly unethical to intentionally understate earnings since the management makes
representations that the financial statements are complete and accurate. It is obvious that
intentionally understating earnings is done to allow the company to later overstate earnings by
using falsified reserves to cover the inadequate current period earnings. These manipulations and
misrepresentations do not allow fair comparisons of the results of operations between years. In this
case the misrepresentation gave a totally false picture of the success of its subscription television

Analytical procedures can often point to areas that are out of sync with the prior results of the firm.
Auditors should look closely at changes in the gross profit ratio and unusual changes in revenues or
expenses. Once unusual results have been identified, auditors must search for reasonable
explanations. If the explanations provided seem implausible then the auditor must expand the scope
of testing and obtain additional corroborating evidence. 3. What would you have done if you had
been the controller and had made recommendations to disclose the reversal of the reserves?
The controller should have refused to comply with the demands of the executives and should have
reported the matter to the audit committee of the board of directors. By doing this the controller
would have fulfilled his professional responsibilities as a CPA, but would probably have lost his
job. However the controller would have preserved his reputation and prevented innocent parties
from being harmed by the fraudulent management scheme. 4. What responsibilities do a company s
controller and other accounting employees have when interacting with the firm s independent
auditors? Do these responsibilities conflict with other job related responsibilities of a company s
accounting employees? Explain.
Accounting employees have a duty to be
