LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

2. To My Dear and Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet Essay
To My Dear and Loving Husband by Anne Bradstreet
If ever two were one, then surely we.
If ever man were loved by wife, then thee;
If ever wife was happy in a man,
Compare with me ye women if you can.
I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold.
Or all the riches that the east doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
Nor ought but love from thee recompense
Thy love is such I can no way repay,
The heavens reward thee manifold I pray.
Then while we live, in love let s so persevere,
That when we live no more, we may live ever.

Here we face a paradox, physically that is impossible, but spiritually they complete each other s life
so that in marriage, they are one. We also see throughout these lines that she gives her marriage as
an example If ever two were one , if ever man were loved by wife , if ever wife was happy in a
man .
Compare with me ye women if you can.
In this verse the poet seems boastful of her relationship; she calls out to women in a bragging
manner. She sees her love as rare, personal. Something that very few other couples share.
To Anne Bradstreet, her husband is exactly what he should be; the love of her life. Over and over
she expresses her devotion to him with a repetition pf images; an example of such images is
evident in the following:
3. I prize thy love more than whole mines of gold.
Or all the riches that the east doth hold.
My love is such that rivers cannot quench,
In here she states that the love to her husband is much more precious than gold and all the riches
of the east. She would also accept nothing in return for the love that she and her husband share and
that no power would be able to destroy it, her love to her husband is indestructible and eternal.
Nor ought but love from thee recompense
Thy love is such I can no way repay,
The heavens reward thee manifold I pray.

4. Talk Radio Censorship
Over the years, talk radio censorship has become a bigger issue. The FCC (The Federal
Communications Commission) has become a large part in regulating the business of talk radio
due to the fact that some people impose on some of the topics or language used during the
broadcasts. Many people find them offensive and should not be allowed to be broadcasted without
some type of notification that it is going on or is inappropriate for children or just in general. The
censorship of talk radio has become a large issue with broadcasters having special rights during
airing, special rights meaning broadcastingopenly about any topic, and this could be solved by not
giving people who broadcast stations this power. The FCC has been monitoring large radio
stations throughout the country for a long time now. This organization is a seven part group
which is all run by Frank R. McNinch, who used to be the chief of the Federal Power
Commission (Rockwell 217). This organization is primarily a licensing and monitoring assembly,
which has technical regulatory powers. The licenses they give out are only valid for a period of
time, and then must be renewed. These licenses decide the power and coverage the station has to
broadcast on (Rockwell 218). These guidelines are very strictly enforced by the FCC because of
how the public has reacted to some of the situations that have occurred. The FCC has also created
criteria which has a public mandate that they are instituting into

Where there are problems, they are often with the way the Australian federal system operates, rather
than with federalism itself. Rather than criticising our federal system, we should be working to
make better use of its advantages
in order to improve our prosperity. In particular, the reform of
the allocation of powers and responsibilities between the Commonwealth and the States, and reform
of fiscal federalism, are desperately needed. (Twomey and Withers, 2007)
Twomey and Withers argue the approach of strategic pragmatism as outlined in Wanna s paper. The
basis of their position is that the federalism structure is unlikely to be subject to major redesign and
the discussion should focus on improving current operation.

6. Pros And Cons Of Pelagianism
In the years following 400 AD, the ideas of the monk Pelagius spawned a heresy that still affects
people of the church today. Pelagianism holds that a man can take the initial and fundamental steps
toward salvation by his own efforts, apart from God s Divine Grace (Slick). In a nutshell, Pelagius
heresy states that man doesn t need help from Godto be able to live a holy life and to get into
heaven. Despite the heresy seeming to have nearly died out, it merely evolved into smaller
actions that allow it to slowly take hold of our lives. As Thomas Aquinas once stated, heresies are
a species of unbelief, and like other species, heresies like pelagianism will adapt in order to
survive. Pope Francis made the comments he did about Pelagianism to make it known how it can
sneak into our lives and, in addition, presents how we personally can avoid any further confusion.
While Pelagianism may have began many years ago, it still has a large enough influence to cause
Pope Francis to speak out against it today. Pope Francis has came out and said that it s not soul

Pope Francis did the exact opposite and recognizes Pelagianism as a issue within the Church. The
Holy Father shines the light back on this heresy and presents how Christians today are not
knowingly having beliefs that are Pelagianistic. To help clear confusion, Pope Francis shows us
how we can t solely rely on ourselves for salvation and that we can always find help through God.
We have to remember that if Jesusdid not die for our sins, we would not have the chance to enter
Heaven. So if we take God out of salvation, then why would have Jesus died to save us from our

8. A Short Note On Chronic And Chronic Illness
Ms. Jones has a both acute and chronic illness which makes her situation more complex. The
acute conditions have a great potential to be reversed; she has a critical hemoglobin (Hgb) level
of 6.4 g/dl, a major infection and a left gangrenous extremity that requires emergent care.
Treatment of the acute condition may be complicated by her chronic condition of diabetes.
Immediate care is required to avoid the spread of the infection and a further decline in her Hgb
level which could result in a fatality. Stabilization of her Hgb level and starting intravenous
antibiotic therapy is necessary to avoid harm; decreasing her chance of cardiac arrest and
systemic infection which would increase the likelihood of success in her case. This scenario
does not mention her blood glucose (BG) level but another way harm can be avoided is by
assuring her BG level is within an acceptable range, as well. Therefore, admitting her to a medical
surgical unit to stabilize her Hgb and BG may be necessary prior to surgery. Although her anemia
could be a result of her infection the practitioner should make an effort to determine the cause of
her low Hgb levels to avoid further complications and develop future treatment plans. However,
medical care would not be indicated, if Ms. Jones continues to refuse blood transfusions.
Therefore, more of a palliative or hospice care path may be indicated versus medical and surgical
acute care. According to our text, Ms. Jones has not had a mini mental

Also, the mood in the room was very dark when all the jurors got into the room one guy just

teenagers today are exceptionally vulnerable to social conformity issues simply because social
acceptance at their age is important. However, they are not the only victims struggling in this
stage; there are also adults who are still swayed by the public opinions. This stage of social
conformity, according to the Kohlberg s stages of moral development, is often referred to as the
Interpersonal (tribal) conformity. This is applied to the large population of teenagers rather than the
adults. In the book The Great Gatsby, the peers around Daisy had a tremendous influence upon her

In fact, this also applies to the situation of understanding what social conformity is. This subject has
been around for centuries, forcing many to behave in a certain way that the society expects. The
influence of peer pressure is still a topic has an impact to the world, especially the adolescents. The
[s]ocial psychologists have suggested that one core function of compliance and conformity is to
maintain group harmony ( Social Influence and the Brain:Persuasion, Susceptibility to Influence
and Retransmission Cascio,Scholz,Falk) and this applies to many individuals who value public
opinions more than their own. They seek to be good people and make an effort to follow the
trend of the crowd. More often than not, this also relates to the confidence level of an
individual, If those others agree with one s beliefs, one gains confidence in them; if they
disagree, one loses confidence ( Conformity, Levine). This is indeed what many people face
today from all different phases of life. Daisy, one of the characters in the book The Great
Gatsby, is a perfect example of a person soaked into social conformity. From the beginning of her
marriage life with Tom to the end of the book, she progresses into immoral stages of life. Day

Mina an update on her love life telling her how she s been proposed to by three different men. The

16. How To Paint A Water Lily Essay
Ted Hughes uses literary techniques in the most vivid way, to illustrate what his idea of a water
lily painting looked like. In all of his work, the goal is to describe a task or a thing, but make the
reader understand it by using nature as the key. The task in this poem is presented by the title How
To Paint A Water Lily . The reason he wrote this poem, was to describe nature by decorating the
spirit of the environment around the lily. The two literary techniques that will be discussed in this
paper are imagery and alliteration. Ted Hughes is using his words to inform the painter in a way
that describes everything else but the lily. The painter is on a mission to create a painted
depiction of a water lily in a pond. Ted Hughes is very fond of nature as he mentions various
aspects of nature to create many images in our minds. However, the main aspect of the poem is
surprisingly not the flower; it was the dragonfly. The dragonfly appears for the second time in
stanza 3. First observe the air s dragonfly
That eats meat, that bullets by The dragonfly is mentioned in stanzas 2 7 because of its role it
plays in the environment. The reader and the painter may wonder What does the dragonfly have to
do with the water lily? but Hughes shows us how important it is the more you read into the poem.
The first literary technique to be discussed is imagery. Imagery is a common literary technique
found in Ted Hughes poems. Imagery consists of very descriptive words that help

17. Symbolism Of Gatsby
In the book The Great Gatsby I ve been able to characterize Gatsby as a polite man explaining
that he was a very helpful man and cared about others. Gatsby is also characterized as a very
wealthy man. He lives in a big mansion all alone, he is a resident in a town called West egg.
Their is a symbol that I recognized throughout the movie, Gatsby s Mansion it symbolizes two
broader themes of the novel. First, it represents the grandness and emptiness of the 1920s boom:
Gatsby justifies living in it all alone by filling the house weekly with celebrated people. Second,
the house is the physical symbol of Gatsby s love for Daisy. Gatsby used his new money to
create a place that he thought rivaled the houses of the old money that had taken her away.
Gatsby throws these big parties to get money so that he can spend it on other things like Daisy
for an example. West Egg is where a lot of wealthy people live. It is a very nice place there are
nice shops and restaurants. Gatsby states a quote about his wealthiness. Old money, new money,
no money. He is describing that anybody that has money should use it wisely. Their is a man
named Nick, he is a resident at West egg and lives almost next to Gatsby s house and they like to
talk and spend time together. Nick had a cousin named Daisy Buchanan. She is married to Tom
Buchanan. However, she is having an affair with Gatsby. Not to mention Tom already knows that
Daisy and Gatsby are together and having an affair with one another.

18. Summary Of Short Story By Rabindranath Tagore
Through the story, Tagore is primarily concerned with criticism of social behaviour, which he
condemns without didacticism but also without complacency. Women, in Tagore s short stories
is most often a living dead, a known person whom society deprives of independence. At first
subjected to her father, then to her husband, and at last to her son. They are caught in a conflict
between the individual aspirations and social demands. They are torn between self expression
and social stigmas ( psychological and material ). In the story, the writer deals with a contrast
between good and evil, innocence and experience, life and death. He blends in it the techniques of
psycho analysis and being unconscious factors (forging a short span of death) to interpret her
existence at social and personal levels. The author leads the audience to participate emotionally in
the protagonist s conflict with her own unconscious experience. He aims his audience to achieve a
state of awareness, which implies both an intellectual perception of the wholeness of situations and
more importantly emotionally behaviour of the turmoiled life. The story also maintains the impact
of Aristotle s theory Catharsis as by the catastrophic end of Kadambini, the audience is purged of
the emotions of pity and fear . Tagore s short stories divulge in many psychological emotions which
are acknowledged through his characters. His main interest is the inner man , the sou l or the
psyche of the individual

19. Statistical Data Of Heart Disease
The purpose of this paper is to speak about statistical data of heart disease in Hartford Connecticut.
The Epidemiology and the community I have chosen to speak about in this paper are
cardiovascular disease and stroke in the city of Hartford in the state of Connecticut. According to
Heart.org, Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death and accounts for more than 17.3
million deaths per year and is expected to grow to over 23.6 million by 2030 (Heart Disease,
Stroke and Research At a Glance, 2016). Identifying the right data source to obtain information
is very important for managing and targeting the right population in the disease management
process. Information can be found in many places but finding credible date is very important to
assess the community and in comparison the nationwide problems. Since the introduction of the
internet we have been able to access many places in the world wide web to be more informed
and educate ourselves on disease management. Most of the credible data sources come from the
federal and state level. Some of the resources I was able to obtain in my research on the web
were The American heart association (AHA), in which was founded in 1924. The AHA is a non
profit organization their main mission is to prevent and provide education on Heart disease. The
CDC is a federal agency under the department of Health and Human Services in the United State.

ISLAM

By
Jasmine Bhangoo
The worldwide Islamic revival of the 1970s and the 11 September 2001 attacks on the United
States have prompted many to predict that the two cultures are on a major collision course. Islam is
the fastest growing religion in the
West. Nevertheless, the West has many stereotypes and misconceptions about Islamthat are due to
the media, prejudice, and ignorance. Islam is often looked upon as a
extremist , terrorist , or fundamental religion. Many people hate Islam and do not want to
acknowledge its true teachings. In many cases, the media s reports about Islam are incorrect due to
ignorance. This is one of the reasons why the West often hates Islam.... Show more content on

The true images of Muslims, Islam, and Arabs are never taken into account and that is where the
prejudice, hate, and discrimination originate. The positive stories are nowhere to be found about
the Middle East region. The
American public sees violence, war, and poverty associated with the Middle
East region. Others might associate all Arabs as being rich because there is oil in the Middle East.
People lump in all Muslims and all Arabs as all being the same but this is usually not done to other
people, to other cultures, or to other religions. Most Americans don t know that the country with the
largest population of Muslims is not in the Middle East; it is
Indonesia, which is not a Middle Eastern country. Arabs only account for 18% of the Muslim
population across the world.
Adding to the fact that the media creates inaccurate ideas about Islam, the
Western media is also very influential to its audiences in making negative
Islamic stereotypes, such as the assertion that all Muslims are fundamentalists. The term
fundamentalist is actually a term that is interpreted by the media. A fundamentalist, in fact, only
represents a normal Muslim who follows his or her religion. Fundamentalism means an attitude, an

22. Abraham Lincoln Rhetorical Analysis
Leaders strive for unity and do everything they can to ensure cohesiveness within their people.
America is an improbable idea that thrives due to determined leaders venturing for unity and
stepping into a position of responsibility that entails making and executing tough decisions.
Respected leaders are a principal technique used in uniting a nation such as the United States.
Abraham Lincoln and George Washington are respected leaders featured in the works that
described their aims to unite the nation. Abraham Lincoln illustrated how he was extremely
devoted ... to saving the union and that is the dominant rationale for him becoming president for
the second time (Lincoln 13). Pathos were inscribed within his speech to prove that he had a
goal and he was determined to achieve it. Embedded in Lincoln s inaugural address, was the idea
that the citizens of the United States and himself did not want a lasting war and tried to persuade
them to cease fighting and unite. Accordingly, one of the most integral leaders in American
history was Abraham Lincoln who is remembered for being the 16th president and very
respected. During the civil war, Lincoln was in office and he delivered his second inaugural
address about ending the war and rebuilding the union because America is stronger united than
divided. Through Lincoln s presidency, he brought about the start of the end of the civil war and
was making progress before his assassination. Leutze s painting demonstrates Washington his
followers going into battle together to fight as one powerful team. Leutze portrayed Washington in
a boat at the front of the pack to demonstrate how he was a leader and how his followers united
under him to go into battle together (Leutze 11). As a respected leader, people listen to your plans
and the soldiers believed in Washington to do what s best for the nation. Washington was a leader
and therefore everyone followed him in reaching for the same goal of defeating the British. As the
citizens united and lined the Delaware behind Washington it became evident that Washington could
unite America. The lighting and color scheme of the painting led viewers to infer that Washington
led the soldiers into the light as they sailed out of the

means to die for one s country (Wilfred). Dulce et Decorum Est is essentially about a young

The soldiers are harshly deprived of their dignity and health like the homeless who resort to
begging for a living. The second simile compares the soldiers to ugly, old women. Owen writes,
Knock kneed, coughing like hags, we cursed through sludge (2). The men who went into battle
were, for the most part, young and straight out of high school, yet after the war they looked old

The various roles of a manager in a company will be decided by their style of management and the
way they handle various situations in an organization. The two of the main styles are autocratic and
Democratic (Jordan, 1977). With a contrast in both the style, every management style comes in a
way between these two opposing management styles. Autocratic style is oriented towards the
results and the strict rules and procedures that should be followed by the employees whereas in a
Democratic style the manager is completely oriented towards people and their needs and hence
employees and customers are the main themes for his management. The choice of management
style will suit according to the required situations as every style is not fit for every scenario and
hence an efficient mapping must be done. It is an art of getting the employees and the projects on
a platform and to have a vision to extract the best out of all to come over an excellent result. There
cannot be a single management style that will incorporate every required feature for an efficient
and effective management style. Management style is the soul of a bonding amongst the

28. Lionfish Invasive Species
Earth is home to many diverse and mysterious species. These species thrive within their own
ecosystem by adapting to their living habitats and food source. Though when human actions
introduce new species to a foreign area where that species never lived before, this is called an
exotic species (Phelan, 2013, p.640). Some of these exotic species normally do not cause a threat to
the ecosystemto which it is introduced, however some do and these are called invasive species.
Invasive species tend to have no predators therefore they can multiply at vastly large numbers
and outcompete the native species food source and living space. Furthermore these native species
have no prior mechanisms to defend themselves from the new invasive species therefore they can
fall prey to these new invaders (Phelan, 2013, p.640). One prominent and growing invasive
species in the United States is the lionfish. Also known as, Pterois volitans, these species
originated in the Indo pacific from North Australia to southern Japan and south to Micronesia

were based on the assumption that a physiological reaction would have occurred when a person was

La Malinche, Power and Colonialism
The Mexican Mother, known as Malinche was a creator. Through her words, she created a new
land free from the Aztecs and human sacrifice. Malinche s ability to translate the native
languages of Mexico to the Spanish invaders gave Malinche the power to stop the much
unnecessary bloodshed. Malinche was a slave, she had no power other than her ability to translate
for the Spaniards.Yet, her name still holds controversy in the Mexican community. La Malinche is
acclaimed to be the harlot of Conquistador Hernan Cortez, her name is a curse among her people.
Malinche is blamed for the suffering of the natives and is believed to be a complacent whore.
The history of Malinche was obscured by fiction and then sold to the Native population of Mexico.
The Spanish wanted the natives to believe that Malinche was the antagonist so they could deflect
the blame from themselves. This increased tensions in the native communities and helped the
Spanish achieve greater success during the colonization of Mexico. It is Ironic that the Mexican
people curse Malinche because they are feeding into the very propaganda that belittles their original
native ancestry. The Spanish believed that the natives were stupid, their traditions were savage and
held no place in their new world. The Spanish planted these seeds of guilt in regards to Malinche,
attempting to falsify history through literature and culture. Instead of embracing Malinches
contributions, her children, the Mexicans curse her name and defy their native origins. The
Spanish then achieve the satisfaction of taking all the credibility for her actions against the Aztecs.
By feeding the natives false information about their Mother, the Spanish are able to control the
perception of the uneducated. These fictions are apparent in the articles that we have read. The
seeds of hatred that the Spanish have sown, appear in the form of prejudice, racism, and sexism.

shame into every Mexican. The very same seeds Octavio Paz claims to have been planted by La

36. The Built Environment At The Gardens Of Versailles
A review of the built environment at the Gardens of Versailles provides a rich perspective into
the political culture during the Age of Enlightenment as one defined by the absolute rule of the
monarch. Gardens at Versailles were first built by Louis XIII; however, it was during the reign
of Louis XIV that the gardens were extensively expanded and adorned into the spectacle
Versailles is known for today. Perhaps catalyzed by a hurt ego after the construction of Fouquet s
grand Vaux le Vicomte which was suspected to have been built using embezzled crown funds1, in
1661 Louis XIV began his epic project of the gardens designed almost entirely as an expression of
his absolute power. Andres Le NГґtre, Versailles leading landscape architect, believed in the basic
conception that landscape should be more impressive than the buildings it comprehends2. With
over 800 hectares of gardens, the size of Versailles alone is quite daunting. Using forced
perspective, Le NГґtre, further extended the site in the mind s eye creating a scale incomparable to
the surrounding villages3. No doubt those who visited the gardens were filled with awe, perhaps
even fear. Versailles provided an almost urban environment, housing France s aristocracy. Though
the nobility was relatively pampered, there was no question that the king was in charge. Elaborate
terracing, for example, gave the gardens hierarchical structure symbolizing feudal society,
purposefully reinforcing the nobility s servility by literally

37. History Of Dependent Personality Disorder
Dependency is something one can consider that the human race requires naturally. When
comparing dependency and mental illness we have to be aware of such extreme forms of
dependency. Dependent Personality Disorder is the diagnosis of this extreme dependency.
Individuals with this disorder can be seen as clingy or needy . The fear of being alone and the
need of assurance plague individuals with this disorder. Due to lack of individual initiative
advances individuals with this disorder may not prevail in the workplace or educational settings.
This paper details dependent personality disorder, its historical roots, symptoms and treatments
proposed to treat such disorder.
History of DPD
The history of dependent personality disorder is often classified as starting in the oral stage in
Freud s stage of development as a manifestation of dysfunction (Disney, 2013). DPD in the DSM
has evolved from several versions. The premier DSM did not distinctly categorize dependent
personality disorder. The disorder was subtype of a passive aggressive personality (Disney, 2013).
Published in 1968, The DSM II no mention of a dependency disorder was proposed individually. In
hysterical personality, the suggestion of DPD was found in the description. As in previous DSM,
the passive aggressive personality touched further into extreme dependency (Disney, 2013).
Published in 1980, The DSM III was the first to list Dependent Personality Disorder as a separate
disorder and. Criteria included

38. Dangers And Disadvantages Of Right To Counsel
The Right to Counsel was not established until 1923 when the United States Supreme Court
realized in Powell v. Alabama; defendants filed an appeal claiming they should have been
provided, counsel. (Hall, 2014) However, the right to counsel was not founded upon the Sixth
Amendment to be exact it was the Fourteenth Amendment. The Court reasoned the absence of
counsel deprives a person of a fair trial. Courts have rules and laws that the average person does
not understand; nonetheless, why represent yourself if you lack the education of law? In 1975,
the first case to establish the right to self representation was Faretta v. California 422 U.S. 806.
The Supreme Court recognized that the assistance of trained legal counsel is essential to
preparing and presenting a defense (Hall, 2014, p.572). Therefore, a defendant who chooses to act
as his or her own counsel (pro se) increases the probability of a conviction. Therefore, a defendant
who chooses to represent themselves, a judgemay appoint a standby counsel to take over if
necessary during a trial. The Sixth Amendment gives a person the right to counsel, and it is not the
only constitutional provision assuring counsel, the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments in some
circumstances does as well. (Hall, 2014) A defendant must be made aware of the dangers and
disadvantages of self representation (Hall, 2014, p. 572). Some States only allow a defendant to
represent themselves if they re indigent. Defendants estimate the cost of trial

39. Rape, Violence, And Violence
Though the offensive act occurs off stage, Pinter makes the rape incident pivotal in understanding
the acts of violence committed against women. Rape like other acts of physical violence leads to
injuries and bruises in the victim and also leads to psychological effects such as post traumatic
stress, anxiety and depression in the victim. But what separates rapefrom other acts of physical
violenceis that it hurts the dignity of a woman, shatters her confidence, makes her feel powerless
and nothing but an object of pleasure for her offenders and at times causes long lasting physical
and psychic problems. In the play One for the Road, rape is used as a tool of violence to cause the
psychological breakdown of not only Gila but also her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A scene of sexual molestation is observed in Pinter s play Mountain Language when the Sergeant
at the prison puts his hand on the bottom of a young woman, who had come to visit her imprisoned
husband.(p.256) The young woman does not protest against the molestation out of fear that her
husband might be brutally tortured as a consequence of her complaint against the Sergeant s
indecent behaviour. Instead what she understands by the Sergeant s behaviour is that if she offers
her body for sexual pleasure to him and other higher officials she might be able to get her husband
released from the confinement. That is why towards the end of the play, she willingly offers her
body to be sexually violated.

Why and how disasters vary and have different impacts in different areas and situations? The
answer lies in the degree of development of that particular area and situation. In developing
countries development only works best when there is a strong need of development and there are
volunteer leaders to work for their betterment. For example when an area is hit by a disaster and
suffered great economic and social loss then the local people residents and governmental and
nongovernmental organizations will start focusing their attention towards such area and situation
and will start more and more developmental activities for the betterment and improvement of such
area. The magnitude of the disaster cannot be helped but the after effects can be. The disaster
disrupts the living and almost everything but it also gives them a chance to reconstruct better and in
ways that they always wanted or desired. The current disaster just showed them where and what
went wrong. The new ways and plans are to be more resistant than the last one. The developmental
activities include activities such as awareness raising among the people by educating the people in
order to have knowledge for future disasters. Preparedness, prevention and mitigation measures
should be and are introduced in context of reconstruction, relocation, new investment in order to
increase the coping capacity of a country

behind these studies is the collection of past studies will allow for greater generalization. We
choose this type since the Ford Pinto case is old, so our information will be concentrated on

43. Rorschach Measures Of Cognition And Social Functioning Essay
Introduction An estimated 62.7$ billion per year is paid by society for the care and treatment of
people with schizophrenia even though they only make up .4% of the population leading to the
need for further study of schizophrenia (Moore et al., 2013). Three researchers from Alliant
International University and two researchers from University of California San Diego; Moore,
Viglione, Rosenfarb, Patterson and Mausbach, decided to look at the relationships between thought
disorder, psychological complexity, and interpersonal representations with daily and social
functioning in people with schizophrenia (2013). Moore et. Al. (2013) start their article, Rorschach
measures of cognitionrelate to everyday and social functioning in schizophrenia by explaining why
their investigation into thought disorder is warranted using previous findings and what they hope
to get out of this qualitative study.
Moore et al (2013) had four hypothesis; that thought higher levels of thought disorder would
correlate with lower levels of functioning. Second, the greater functioning the person the higher
psychology complexity the subject would have. Third, patients with the lowest daily levels of
function would have the highest thought disorder in combination with the lowest psychological
complexity. Lastly, and the most interesting was that healthy relationships would be positively
correlated with a higher social skills function ability. Newman (2011) explains the differences

44. The Pros And Cons Of Hans Asperger And Leo Kanner
Many people who don t know what autism is would think that it s a new issue in modern society,
but it has become far more predominant today compared to previous years. The term autism
comes from the Greek word autos , meaning self . The word autism was first used in 1908 by a
swiss psychiatrist named Eugene Bleuler. He used it to describe a schizophrenic patient who had
withdrawn into his own world. However, the innovators into autismresearch were Hans Asperger
and Leo Kanner. While they were not working together, they were both doing studies during the
1940s. Leo Kanner, an American child psychiatrist, started by studying the behaviors of 11
children. What he discovered in their behaviors are both pros and cons. The pros are that they had
good intellectual potential and can recollect things relatively well. Nevertheless, the cons are
difficulty in socializing, adapting to change, repeating words, just to name a few. Kanner referred
to their condition as Kanner s syndrome, which was later named Early Infantile Autism. Similarly,
Hans Asperger also studied a group of children that mimicked Kanner s descriptions. One thing that
s different from Asperger s research compared to Kanner s research is that the children he observed
did not have echolalia as a linguistic problem because they spoke like young adults. Additionally,
Hans did mention that the children he evaluated were clumsy and had difficulty with fine motor
skills. Hans Asperger described the milder form of autism

45. American Treatment of the Indian Tribes Essay
American Treatment of the Indian Tribes
The American Indian lived a life being one with nature. In their way, they understood the ecological
demands of the land and knew that if they took care of the land the land would take care of them.
They possessed an untouched wisdom living in harmony with the environment. They hunted the
land for buffalo, which provided food and clothing for the ages to come. In time they would almost
become non existent at the hands of the white ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The American Indians were known as migratory hunters who followed the buffalo as their main
staple. This led to the belief that Indians had no attachment to any particular lands. This belief
ignored the facts that some tribes harvested crops and lived in settled villages. Further push to the
West to develop the land resulted in the removal of Indians from those lands.
As the Civil War closed, the Indians with the white settlers moving into their lands and a main
source of livelihood the buffalo threatened with extinction, was faced with a fundamental choice:
surrender or fight. Many chose to fight. In 1887 the Dawes Act made it possible for Indians to
own their own land. This Act aiming to end tribal life authorized the President to allot portions of
land to individual Indians 160 acres to each head of family and 80 acres to others. The land was to
be used to establish private farms, and authorized the Secretary of Interior to negotiate with the
tribes for purchasing quot;excess quot; lands for non Indian settlement. The real purpose of the
act was to further break up the tribes by acquiring more land. Tribes as a whole were not willing
to give up any portion of the land, but as individual owners, the Indians were more liable to sell
the land. This resulted in the Indian land holdings decreasing from 138 million acres to 48 million
half of this being barren land.
