Brutus is a complex figure in Rome who, due to his popularity, is able to carry out acts that may appear bad if done by others but can be seen as virtuous when done by him. Cassius and other nobles plan to assassinate Caesar, and Cassius works to bring Brutus into the conspiracy by leaving papers for him detailing their plan. While Brutus' involvement allows the conspirators to more easily justify killing Caesar due to Brutus' reputation, his true motivations and whether he is ultimately good or bad are still unclear from the information given.
The document discusses Marxist and Weberian perspectives on the relationship between religion and economics. It explains that Marx saw religious icons as reinforcing oppressive economic structures, in line with his conflict theory. Meanwhile, Weber acknowledged Christianity's role in developing Western capitalism, linking Protestant work ethic to the emergence of capitalism. The document also discusses how Marxist ideas influenced liberation theology movements in Latin America. Overall, it provides an overview of Marxist and Weberian sociological approaches to analyzing the interaction between religion and economics.

Question 3: The three founders of Crocs hired Ronald Snyder, A college buddy and an outsider to
the shoe industry, as a part time consultant to the company in October of 2003 and by January of
2005 he was the CEO. What was his management style? What strategies did he develop for Crocs
that he used in the electronics industry? What was his attitude toward dealing with suppliers and

Snyder joined Crocs officially in 2004 as its president after the part time consultancy role since

3. Henrietta Lacks Suffering
Thinking about suffering is pretty frightening, now the minimum event that occurs to someone
people call it suffering, but have you thought of how this was even worse in the past with racism,
economic problems, and human experimental discoveries? In The Immortal Life of Henrietta
Lacks by Rebecca Skloot a lot of central ideas are being formed, and one of them is suffering.
Suffering is illustrated in Henrietta, Deborah, and Day. First of all, this central idea is formed in
Henrietta being used for experiments and with her illness. In page forty two Skloot states, Henrietta
knew nothing about her cells growing in laboratory. She also states in page forty eight, The skin
from Henrietta s breast to her pelvis was natural shade more the color of faun than coal. Henrietta
went through a lot of untoulerable emotions by having unnecessary examinations so the doctor
could obtain her immortal cells, and the black marks demonstrate the misery she was going through
due to the radiation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Skloot states in page one hundred thirteen, As Day drove with his arm around Ethel in front,
Galen would grab Deborah in the back seat, forcing his hands under her shirt, in her pants,
between her legs. Also in page three hundred eight it stays, She s suffered a lot in life, and now
she s happy. Overall these quotes show how Deborah s life was widely filled with suffering events
since her young age until she died. With all the deaths in her family, her mother, abuse, and her
developed sickness, it left holes and emptiness in her

4. The Effects Of Drinking Water On The Water
Have you ever wondered if our drinking water is actually safe to drink? The topic of safe drinking
water according to my research isn t a topic that it s given that much attention even though there
have been events and statistics that have impacted our drinking water. There have been important
events such as the chemical spill in Charleston, West Virginia and the ash sludge in Kingston
Tennessee in 2008, these kind of events even though they have happen a few years ago still have
an impact on our drinking watertoday. Lauren Russell is an important person because she stated
that climate change is another factor that can affect our drinking water because it can impact the
quality of the water since climate change is a main world problem it affects everyone s drinking
water. Another big factor of drinking water is what kind of chemicals are in our water that
makes it safe for us to drink? I feel like people and I should be informed of the risks that human
and natural disasters can do to our sites that we get our drinking water from. And we should also
be inform if the chemicals that they put in our drinking water are one hundred percent safe. The
reason why I chose this topic is because water is a necessity for every human so if we all get
informed about this topic we can enforce better laws that can ensure us the best water quality for us
to drink.
People should know the background events of human and natural disasters that have affected our
drinking water and even if it

5. Sociological Imagination By C Wright Mills
C Wright Mills is a respected sociologist who is well known for making Max Weber s ideologies
popular within the United States. Many of his published works and his ideas are still widely
used today by understanding society in its present form. He wrote The Sociological Imagination
that was published in 1959, and part of that work emphasized on the history and biography in a
sociological context. The term biography in a social context can be defined as: events that has
happened throughout one s life because of different situations that one was put in or faced with,
causing one to have certain opportunities of make certain choices in life. For an example, a
component of a teacher s biography is that they have decided to instruct a third grade math and
science class rather than a fifth grade math and science class. This opportunity and/or decision
that this teacher made did not happen randomly, for there were certain events leading up to the
teacher s decision to instruct third grade math and science. Those events are what C Wright
Mills calls history. The term history is otherwise known as social circumstances , which is
defined as: a set of concepts that is created by a criteria or activities associated with the social
environment of a person. History can be classified as a macro level social circumstance, meaning
that it focuses on the large social groups, organizations and social systems. History can also be
classified as a micro level social circumstance, meaning

6. The Positive Effects Of The Black Death
Everything gets worse before it gets better. A bruise turns into a gaudy green pigment before it
fully heals; a rainstorm sends hail falling from the sky, impaling anything it sees, right before a
beautiful rainbow appears; the red fleshed pimple on one s face continues to grow bigger and
bigger until it spontaneously disappears. A catastrophe can lead to success and hope, much like the
Black Deathleads to the Renaissance. The Black Death was one of the most devastating pandemics
that resulted in one third of europe s population to die. Despite all the death and evil the Black
Death brought, it has a good outcome The Renaissance. The Black Death was the catalyst of the
European Renaissance because of the effects it had on the European economy, artistic
expression, and technological advances. The Black Death affected the European economy in a
positive way. The biggest change, good for peasants, was the end of Feudalism. Feudalism is a
social triangle that decided who obeyed who and many other unfair standards for all Serfs, the
base of the pyramid. Due to the huge population deficit, Serfs were scarce and Barons were now
willing to pay higher wages and offer extra benefits. All their life they had lived off the serfs hard
work, and were willing to pay them to stay on the manor to continue slaving for them (Vunguyen).
This gave the Serfs more power to ask for higher wages and the freedom to find more work if they
do not get what they want. Serfs, or peasants, began

7. The Myth Of The Earth
Scientists have found that the Earth was formed about 4.6 billion years ago by collisions in the
giant disc shaped cloud of material that also formed the Sun. As gravity slowly gathered this gas
and dust together into clumps, it became asteroids and small early planets called planetesimals.
These objects collided repeatedly and gradually got bigger, building up the planets in the Solar
System. Although scientists are very close to answering the question, they still continue to
search for the exact answer to how the Earth was created. With all the evidence presented, it is
hard to refute from scientific theories. This becomes cumbersome to many religions because in
their eyes God has always been the creator of the Earth. That is the case for Christianity, God has
always been the creator of the Earth. Before the scientific discoveries were made, Christians had
the idea of a young Earth. The belief was that Earth was created by God in six, 24 hour days and
less than 10,000 years ago. The Young Earth Creationists say the Bible never talks about billions
and billions of years ago, so they do not believe the Earth existed that long ago and revert the the
Book of Genesis as evidence. Different interpretations of the Book of Genesis lead to the varying
thoughts overtime between Young Earth and Old Earth Creationists. The Old Earth Creationists
still believe that God created the Earth, but that the process took much longer. They accept what the
astronomers and geologists say about

Pursuing Pediatrics
Countless high school students aspire to become neurologists or surgeons, but tend to disregard the
incredibly rewarding and memorable experiences that Pediatrics presents. Pediatrics focuses on
solving issues that pertain to children, and attempt to solve these problems using critical thinking
developed over decades of training and education. For those who wish to follow the medical route
and make an impression on the younger generations, pediatrics is a wise, fulfilling life choice.

Becoming a pediatrician typically requires at least 3 8 years of residency training in pediatrics,
along with the four years required to achieve a bachelor s degree (How to Become a Pediatric
Doctor: Education and Career Roadmap.). To even begin one s journey into pediatrics however, one
must pass the MCAT, a nightmarish medical schoolentrance examination assessment, and after
multiple years of training, an anxiety inducing final examination. Another crucial factor in
becoming a pediatrician is the huge cost of tuition, as the combined cost adds up to 300,000 to
500,000 thousand (Becoming a Pediatrician: THE BOTTOM LINE). However, during residency
training, you receive annual incomes up to 45,000 a year, covering living expenses for the time

The term sepsis has been around since prehistoric times. Hippocrates presented the word sepsis
2400 years ago to represent a condition where an overwhelming infection leads to tissue breakdown
with rotting, foul odour, and disease. The ancient Roman scholar and writer (116 BC 27 BC),
Marcus Terentius Varro mentioned that small creatures, invisible to the eye, fill the atmosphere,
and breathed through the nose cause dangerous diseases.
In the early 1990s at a conference convened by the American College of Chest Physicians and the
Society of Critical Care Medicine modern definitions of sepsis were termed in detail. At that time,
sepsis was described as a systemic response to a physiologic insult including infections and other
etiologies that lead to the development of further organ injury, ultimately culminating in multiple
organ dysfunction syndromes.
The word bacteraemia is used when bacteria are isolated from the blood whether clinical
symptoms are present or not while the words sepsis or septicaemia is used for the isolation of
bacteria in blood in combination with clinical symptoms and signs of infections.
Neonatal sepsis, also named Sepsis neonatorum , represents to a group of physical and laboratory

12. Case Study on Nol
Introduction
In November 1997, the acquisition of APL by NOL was successful. As compared to the larger
US based APL; NOL was a small Singapore firm. Through this acquisition, it appeared that NOL
was ready to become an industry leader in the shipping industry. Thus this acquisition is a strategy
through which NOL buys a controlling, 100 per cent, interest in APL with the intent of making the
acquired firm a subsidiary business within its portfolio. Thus APL became a wholly owned
subsidiary of Singapore based NOL, a global transportation and logistics company engaged in
shipping and related businesses.
Below is the study of the problems and strategies that NOL faced or is facing during the acquisition
and integration of APL. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although both financial and strategic controls are important, on a relative basis financial controls
are vital to headquarters evaluation of each SBU; strategic controls are also critical to the
headquarters efforts to determine whether the business has formed an effective portfolio of
businesses and whether those businesses are being successfully managed.
Sharing competencies among units within an SBU is an important characteristic of the SBU form
of the multi divisional structure. The drawback to the SBU structure is that multi faceted
businesses often have difficulties in communicating this complex business model to stockholders.
Strategic Leadership and Style
NOL appointed a foreigner, Denmark national Flemming Jacobs as its new CEO to run the
business in June 1999. Flemmings was a respected veteran from the shipping industry s leading
firm Maersk.
Strategic leadership is the ability to anticipate, envision, maintain flexibility and empower others to
create strategic change as necessary. The ability to attract and then manage human capital may be
the most critical of the strategic leader s skills, especially in light of the fact that not being able to
fill key positions with talented human capital constrains the firm growth.
A firm s ability to achieve a competitive advantage and earn above returns is compromised when
strategic leader fail to respond appropriately and quickly to changes in the complex global
environment. The inability

Question 1
HIV, or Human Immunodeficiency Virus, attacks the human immune system and greatly weakens
the body s ability to fight foreign invaders and infection. HIV first demanded notice in the early
1980s in the United States in homosexual men displaying illnesses like Pneumocystis carinii
pneumonia and Kaposi s sarcoma. The disease was soon observed in IV drug users, hemophiliacs,
and blood transfusion recipients, but became publicized as a gay disease, nicknamed by the media
as GRID, or Gay Related Immuno Deficiency. It was later renamed AIDS, or Acquired Immuno
Deficiency Syndrome, in September of 1982. Before the true cause of the disease had been
discovered, it had killed countless people and received immense press coverage, and the infection
rate was rampant, because the cause was unknown and thus no treatment method could be
developed.
Finally, in 1983, two separate research teams, lead by Robert Gallo and Luc Montagnier of the
Pasteur Institute in isolated a retrovirus that was the true infectious agent responsible for the
development of AIDS. Gallo s team named the virus HTLV III and Montagnier s team coined it as
LAV, or lymphadenopathy associated virus. Later, it was discovered that the two viruses were
exactly the same; it was renamed as Human Immunodeficiency Virus, and Gallo and Montagnier
now share the credit its discovery.
Although HIV/AIDS wasn t noticed in the United States until the 1980s and didn t have an

class. His father s name was Viscount Howe, and his mom s name was Maria Sophia. When
William was about twelve years old he was sent out from his home to go to Eaton, a famous

MacKenzie in his article Another Little Patch of Red he had sources from people like Tom
Devine, J.A. Hobson, Hew Strachan, G.A. Henry, and Gordon Stables. He also had information
from journals from places like Royal Society, Linnaean Society, and Royal Geographical Society.
The way he presented this information was not only spread out but also very well put together.
He had multiple sources of information to prove his point. The amount of information and how
it was stated was enough to convince people that his point is the correct point and the point you
should believe. Porter s article What Did They Know of Empire? had just as many sources in it
as Mackenzie s article. He had sources from people like J.R. Seeley, Thoman Carlyle, Lord
Kimberly, the chairman of the Empire Day movement, and others. A lot of his information seemed
to come from either just common knowledge people would already have about the British during
the time period or from school textbooks during the time period. The way he presented the
information in the article was done fairly well but the information that was not common knowledge
or from a textbook he did not stress enough. He just touched on the other information the other
sources gave. Overall it comes down to how the reader feels when they read the information on who

17. The Cost Of The Cadillac Tax
Intentions of the Tax One of the primary goals of the Cadillac tax is to reduce the growing costs
of national health care (Lowry 2015). The government is hopeful that implementation of the
Cadillac tax will reduce overall health care expenditures and impede the growth of health care
costs by encouraging a change in consumer behavior through discouraging the provision and
obtainment of overly generous health coverage plans (Herring, 2011). Generally, individuals who
are insured spend greater amounts on health care than those who are not as they can consume
greater amounts of healthcare with a lesser personal burden. In the case that the insurance provided
to an individual is overly generous, it encourages over spending on health care due to the fact that
they incur a only a portion of costs of consumption. In this manner, the consumption of an
inefficient amount of health care is perpetuated by the provision of overly generous health care
coverage. This inefficiency and associated increase in demand for healthcare causes the price of
healthcare to rise, which exacerbates the undesirable growth in national health care costs (Gravelle,
2015). The Cadillac taxaims to discourage the provision and obtainment of overly generous health
care coverage by employers in an effort to decrease inefficient over consumption of health care and
stagnate the growth in healthcare costs. The intent of the Cadillac tax is to alter consumer behavior
to decrease the provision of unnecessarily

23. Literature Of Greek Literature
Greek literature is an assortment of compositions in the Greek dialect, with a constant history
reaching out from the first thousand years B.C.E to the present day. From the earliest starting
point, journalists were Greeks living in Greece, as well as in Asia Minor, the Aegean Islands, and
Magna Graecia (Sicily and southern Italy). After the successes of Alexander the Great, Greek
turned into the main language of the eastern Mediterranean and the Byzantine Realm. Writing in
Greek was created over a substantially more extensive range as well as by those whose primary
language was not Greek. Over a period of over ten centuries, the ancient Greeksmade their writing
of such brightness that it has infrequently been met and never outperformed. In poetry, tragedy,
drama, and history, Greek writers made gems that have roused, and affected readers to today.
The Greeks wrote Poetry before they made utilization of writing for literary purpose, and from the
earliest starting point their poetry was planned to be sung or presented. Writing was little known
before the 7th century. The content utilized as a part of Crete and Mycenae during the second
thousand years bc isn t known to have been utilized for other than authoritative purposes, and after
the destruction of the Mycenaean cities it had been forgotten.

UMPCs have a screen size of less than 7 and weigh less than two pounds. UMPCs tend to run on
fully fledged operating systems such as Windows XP although can be known to run off Windows
CE or other specialized operating systems. Devices like these are popular as they allow the user to
run software typically found on a traditional computer unlike that on a tablet or smartphone.
Design Principles of Mobile Web Applications
CSS
For maximum compatibility mobile websites should be laid out using Cascading Style Sheets
(CSS) and not tables.
Resolution
Mobile devices come in a range of different sizes and aspect ratios. Developing your website with
this in mind can help to ensure that users do not have to scroll left and right to view the whole of
your webpage.
Design with fingers in mind
By creating click targets a minimum of 30 40px in size and making use of whitespace in between
these can help to make navigating around your website a whole lot easier for your users.
Download Time
25. Keep download times to a minimum for example by using lower resolution images and storing
them in a single CSS file. This is necessary for users connecting to the web on traditional mobile
data connections such as 3G.
Plug Ins
Most mobile browsers do not support plugins or extensions especially those such as flash, apart
from compatibility these can also be a massive drain on the devices battery.

PREFACE
The Indian subcontinent has a tropical climate and unstable landforms. India, Pakistan, and
Bangladesh are prone to natural disasters of various kinds on a continual basis. Coupled with high
population density, poverty, illiteracy and lack of infrastructure, the natural disasters kill thousands
of people and leave a devastating impact on economy and environment.
The importance of telecommunication in disaster management has been widely accepted since the
early days of the development of radio communication. Disasters can strike without warning at any
time of the day or night. On the Indian subcontinent, the pressure from population increase and over
exploitation of resources for haphazard development has disturbed the ecological ... Show more

When conducted as a military operation, it is termed Disaster Relief Operation (DRO) and can be
a follow up to a Non combatant evacuation operation (NEO). They may be supported by a number
of secondary emergency services, such as specialist rescue teams.
Recovery
The aim of the recovery phase is to restore the affected area to its previous state. It differs from the
response phase in its focus; recovery efforts are concerned with issues and decisions that must be
made after immediate needs are addressed. Recovery efforts are primarily concerned with actions
that involve rebuilding destroyed property, re employment, and the repair of other essential
infrastructure. An important aspect of effective recovery efforts is taking advantage of a window of
opportunity for the implementation of mitigative measures that might otherwise be unpopular.
Citizens of the affected area are more likely to accept more mitigative changes when a recent
disaster is in fresh memory.
In India, the role of emergency management falls to National Disaster Management of India, a
government agency subordinate to the Ministry of Home affairs. In recent years there has been a
shift in emphasis, from response and recovery to strategic risk management and reduction, and from
a government centered approach to decentralized community participation. The countries of the
Indian subcontinent suffer continually from natural disasters such as drought, floods, cyclones,
earthquakes, landslides,

How can the aesthetics of pop music be measured? From person to person tastes in music differ
greatly and the effect that music has on ones self can be very abstract, so how can the aesthetics
of a classification of music, pop, that is: simple, predictable and repetitious be measured? The
most obvious way to measure aesthetics would be personal opinion, then scaled to public opinion
and in turn, economic market value. One s personal opinion, although often times thought to be
objective when one is defending a favorite song it is difficult to measure an exact aesthetic value
of a song. Why is it that so many cringe at the mere mention of the Spice Girls or Britney Spears? If
pop music is a reflection of current culture, and is taken as just pure enjoyment and fun,
meaningless lyrics and feel good music, any scientific or musically theoretical measurements
should be dismissed. Onelike? would be more successful embracing the lightheartedness of the
song and, in turn, embracing the emotions that it provokes. During the short lived career of the

28. Notes On Loss And Loss
Loss is one of the most common experience that each of us share with all of mankind, no matter
our age, where we live, what we do. Yet when severe loss occurs in anyone lives most of us feels
awful and have no idea how to bring about our painful emotions and continue with our day to day
lives (Wyatt, 2010).
Loss is the experience of parting with object, person, belief, or relationship that one values.
Losses are come across daily by everyone.
Losses can be minor or major.
The influence of loss depends upon the value the person placed on what was lost.
There are two type of losses,
1.Tangible (Actual or physical): They are actual and easily acknowledged for e.g. Death, loss of
body part, changes in physical health.
2.Intangible (perceived or psychological) losses are less obvious and may be tied to personal
opinion such as one s prestige, power, dreams, plans, security etc.
Grief is the process of psychological or physiological response a person experience after a loss of
valued person, object, belief or relationship.
Losses leads to mourning the period of time during which the grief is articulated.
Bereavement is the period of grief following the death of the loved one.
Everyone experiences grief as an individual and its impact depend upon the individual past
experiences with loss, their culture, their coping skill, belief system, faith and life experiences.

29. Illegality Of Drugs
Illegality of drugs (Legalize It All essay)
For many decades there has been a continuous debate about legalizing drugs. The ongoing debate
spotlights whether legalization would positively or negatively impact society. In the essay, Legalize
It All, Baum argues that the legalization of drugs is the best way to prevent any drug related
violence and addiction when the government regulates the drug usage and sales. I disagree with
Baum s ideas on drug legality as I believe all drugs should remain illegal. I disagree with Baum s
statement drugs should remain illegal. However, I do see strong benefits in drug regulation such
as fewer children being involved in drugs as well as reduced crime rates.
At this current time, 8:03 am, there must be at least two people doing drugs secretly out of fear
of being arrested. Others do not do drugs for fear of the exact same thing but if drugs were to be
made legal, more people would be inclined to become daily users and openly use them. Baum
believes that through legalizing drugs, a number of addictions will be limited. He explained
that although about half of all Americans older than twelve have tried an illegal drug, only 20
percent of those have used one in the past month. (pg 25) HALF OF ALL AMERICANS have
tried an illegal drug the rest are either too scared to try an illegal drug or it goes against their
ethics. If these drugs were legal, the number of Americans to try drugs would be greater due to the
decrease in price and the easy accessibility.
In Legalize It All, Baum explains that if we regulate drugs, we can prevent young children from
doing drugs and decrease the amount of addicts in the city. Through my experience, I believe that
the opposite of what Baum believes will occur. Take, for example, the regulations on cigarettes.
Children that are younger than 18 are prohibited to smoke. However, on my way to school, I see
many underaged teens smoking. This proves that regulations do not always work. Children are
aware of the negative effects of tobacco yet they continue to smoke. The same goes for drinking
alcohol. If we cannot regulate the use of cigarettes or alcohol, what is to say that the regulations on
drugs will be successful? Baum has not thought out the

31. What Are Tacitus Motivations For Writing The Annals
What are Tacitus reasons (both explicit and implicit) for writing The Annals?
Tacitus motivations for writing The Annals are multifaceted. First, he was promoting the stance
that the empire, despite its shortcomings, was necessary for the stability of Rome at the time.
Secondly, he wanted to give an honest and fair account of Rome during the reigns of four emperors
of the principate: Tiberius, Gaius, Claudius and Nero.
A republic, like Rome, moves at a maddeningly slow pace. Legislation is put through a system of
checks and balances where rivals debate ad nauseum over proposed policies. In a perfect world,
this ensures that only which is most beneficial for the state and her peoples becomes a reality. A
Tyrant, however, can accomplish a great deal in only a short amount of time. A good leader, like
Augustus, can propel his people forward unhindered by the chains of a republic. The Roman
people, according to Tacitus: prefered the security of the current regime to the dangers of old
(Yardley 2008, 3). Even if it lacked freedom, many were willing to submit to an empire if it meant
stability and security.
Tacitus begins The Annals with a brief description of Augustus ascension and reign. While not a
central figure to The Annals, Augustus is important because he is the originator of the principate
that it revolves around. Before Augustus, Rome was a republic embroiled in civil war, turmoil, and
on the path of destruction. August brought that unrest to heel and tamed Rome

unique criteria, (1) most of findings are patentable; (2) applying biological process for the first time
to reduce greenhouse gases; (3) applying new technologies (without using any synthetic chemicals)
to use CO2 and other greenhouse gases as a beneficial materials for the first time to produce new
products; (4) producing new high nutrient rich organic fertilizers and pesticides, which ultimately
protect the environment by eliminating the harmful contamination from water, land and soils this
technique also allow to reduce environmental pollutants by 90%... Show more content on

Because of my previous track records and innovative research works, I believe, I would get many
government and non government grants in Canada and from many international sources (e.g.,
Humboldt Foundation, Germany), if I can join at U of T as a faculty member in any department.
Collaboration, Education and Mentorship, and Outreach I believe that research is most rewarding
when it involves some level of collaboration and cooperation between multiple parties. Since my
research is a global issue, national and international collaboration is necessary. I have been fortunate
to collaborate with over a dozen labs and many institutions to date, including University of Munich
(Germany), Oxford University (UK), University of the Ryukyus (Japan) with different department,
Rutgers University (USA) and University of Toronto (Canada) and these collaboration will be
continued after joining at the . Exchanging ideas across institutional and cultural boundaries
strengthens our scientific community, while research offers a powerful learning opportunity for
undergraduate and graduate students alike. My preferred approach to collaboration is to co advise
graduate students or postdocs with my collaborators; this allows the student or postdoc to be
embedded in the environmental field, while providing them with deep access to

33. The Race For K 12 Public Education Reform
Teacher compensation is one of many hot button issues in the race for K 12 public education
reform in America. Google (2015), defines compensation as simply the money received by an
employee from an employer as a salary or wages (Google). This definition is perhaps the
simplest to understand, but fails to truly articulate the complex meaning of compensation. Most
school divisions include salary, extra pay, benefits, and pension in their employee compensation
package. Leonard Boswell (2015), former U.S. Representative, stated it best, when he said The
American Dream is one of success, home ownership, college education for one s children, and
have a secure job to provide these and other goals (Brainy Quotes, n.d.). The American dream
Boswell spoke of cannot be achieved through meager means, the question then is Do the very
people who help facilitate this dream for the country s youth, deserve to achieve the dream as
well? Most professions compensate for an employee s formal education as well as any other
experiences relevant to the position. Kirby et al. (1993), found the factors reported to affect
teacher salaries included cost of living, revenue generating potential, supply and demand for
teachers, local industry wages and salaries, and salaries of neighboring districts (p. 111). The
authors (1993) further explain no one model has been found to satisfactorily explain variations in
teacher salaries within and across geographical regions and In education,

34. World War 2 Tanks Essay
Patrick Easler
Professor Pfister
Hist 4344
3 December 2014
The Tanks of World War II World War II was the first war to heavily employ tanks. The tanks
ranged in variety for each of the individual nations. It has been said that the German Panzer tank
was top dog on the battle field during the war but especially at the beginning of the war. This
statement although true is not because the common belief that they were built better than other
nation s tanks but because German strategy and the preparedness of the tanks themselves and the
crews operating them was vastly better than competing nations such as France and the Soviet
Union. The first tank was initially invented in World War 1 by Britain. Tanks in the First World
War represented a brilliant idea but a poor execution. The tanks of that war moved at about a
walking speed and constantly needed repairs because of how undependable they were. After the
war however the Tanks offensive potential was recognized and each nation began research into a
better tank to avoid the deadlock imposed on the last war due to modernized weapons and old time
tatctics. Luckily tanks are in fact vehicles and were often made by similar plants as cars were, this
meant ss the automotive industry advanced with new engines, new transitions, new ways of
breaking so did the Tanks by association. It was not however until the start of the second war that
the design of tanks truly advanced in improvements, weaponry, and armor. But as these innovations

35. Porphyria is a Disease in which the Body does not Produce...
Porphyria is a disease dealing with an abnormality of the metabolic processes in the body. In
particular, there is an insufficiency of the body to process porphyrins which are a metal containing
pigment. However, porphyria is actually a group of diseases with the commonality of the
accumulation of porphyrins or porphyrin precursors. Porphyriais derived from the Greek word
porphyrous meaning reddish purple. Urine from patients display a reddish purple hue due to the
presence of excess amounts of porphyrins. This is a rare disease with the most common type
porphyria cutanae tarda (PCT) statistically to occur one in ten thousand individuals. Porphyria
disease is generally inherited genetically, but some environmental factors can enhance or trigger
porphyria symptoms.
All diseases grouped under porphyria are disorders of heme biosynthesis, the deficiency of one of
the enzymes which are necessary for the production of heme. Heme includes hemoglobin,
myoglobin, cytochromes, and other heme containing proteins. These are found in all organs within
the body, and they are most active in the liver and bone marrow. Due to this enzyme deficiency, the
result is the accumulation of certain pathway intermediaries. Porphyria diseases can be categorized
based on where the primary site of overproduction occurs. If the accumulation of porphyrins occurs
in the liver then this is considered to be hepatic, and if the accumulation occurs in bone marrow
then it is categorized as erythropoietic.

36. Mr Laurence House Empty The Next Morning
Jen was relieved to find the Laurence house empty the next morning. There was a note from Mrs
Laurence on the kitchen table, reminding her to check the weekly grocery delivery, and not to
answer the door to anyone else. She was hoovering the stairs when the doorbell rang; she looked
through the landing window, but couldn t see the delivery van. Remembering Mrs Laurence s
warning, she crept down the stairs and peeped though the spyhole. She d expected to see a teenager
with a case of substandard teatowels and ironing board covers; instead, the man standing with his
back to the house looked old or middle aged; his hair was grey and balding at the crown. He
turned to ring the bell again, and Jen stepped back. There was something wrong with his face; the
skin was pink and shiny, and stretched tightly over the bones. His features were nondescript, except
for his lips, which were full, the corners curving upward, as if carved into the flesh with a knife. He
slid something through the letterbox, and left.
Jen ran up to the landing window to see which way he went. She caught her breath. He d crossed
the road and was staring up at the house. He was wearing a cardigan under a badly fitting suit,
and his shoes were down at heel, but he looked confident, even arrogant, standing with his legs
apart and his hands in his pockets. As she watched, he crossed the road and disappeared from sight.
She was glad Mrs Laurence had warned her not to open the door; the man was unsettling, and

37. Harlem Vs Post-Modernism
Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness said by Alejandro Jodorowski. Writing between the
Harlem Renaissance and Post Modernism is very similar in that they both address social issues,
from racism to self harm. The Harlem Renaissance poems, The Negro Speaks of Rivers and I,
Too can be compared to the Post Modernist poems Cut and Manhattan Buddha through the use of
figurative language and subject material. In both stories Cut by Sylvia Plath and I, Too by
Langston Hughes, they address serious issues. In Cut a girl finds joy in cutting her thumb instead
of an onion (Plath 2). Self harm is a serious issue in today s society. Plath does a good job at
portraying the way the girl enjoys inflicting pain on herself and admires the cut. Another serious
issue that has been around for centuries is racism. In the story I, Too , Hughes displays the feelings
the man gets when he is left out at dinners when they have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In The Negro Speak of Rivers , the man is describing the things he has seen and the way his soul
has grown deep like the rivers (Hughes 3). Hughes uses pathos in this story to relate to the
reader and make it mean something to them in the way that the man is so appreciative of simple
things such as rivers. He bathed in rivers and lived next to them and still appreciates what they
have done for him. This is similar in Manhattan Buddha when a man is torn between jumping
from a building or burning in it. Even with a choice of how to pass he sees it all and smiles
(Smith Soto 8). This relates to pathos to make the readers think about how content and at peace he
was with what was happening. It also relates back to the reader s emotions relating to the events at
9/11. Both Hughes and Smith Soto tap into the reader s emotions by their use of figurative

38. Reflection On Psych Clinical
On November 2, 2015, I went to my psych clinical at BHH. I was assigned to the adolescent
floor for the second time this semester. I was eager to go back on this floor because I found it
very interesting the last time I was there. I got the opportunity to go to breakfast with the
adolescent patients. I initially thought that they would not want to talk to me, just because I was
in my white attire. It took the patients more than half the time to warm up and start to feel more
comfortable talking to us. A lot of the patients wanted to know what college was like, if it was
hard, and is it expensive. They became very talkative and wanted us to know what their plans were
when they got out of this department. When breakfast was over, the patients went back to bed and I
looked into what patient... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

bathroom. She felt like her privacy was taken right from her. She also had to be by a family
member at all time. After telling me this, she was not too fond of going home. My patient
actually wanted to stay. I was really taken back when I started putting all the data together and
how the family was not so supportive of their daughter. I would think that if I originally did not
approve of my child s decisions but then my child made suicidal attempts/ very unhappy, I
would try my best to adjust to life. I had to remind my patient to keep an open mind and to earn
her parents trust back. As I was leaving, I overheard one of the other patient talking to my
patient. She said, girl, do not let anyone change who you are. You are perfect and you are a gift
from God. Don t ever change for anyone . This clinical had really tugged at my heart and I now

39. History Of Intermodal Containers And The World Trade Commerce
History of Intermodal Containers For a very long time people have been trading goods with
each other within their city, out of their city, and even across borders and oceans. As technology
has advanced, so has different modes of transportation to make it easier for people to get their
products that they need while shipping out products to other people. The world that we live in
is a great big place and in order for us humans to survive and grow we need ways to reach out to
other people and communicate the things that we need to do that. What I m going to be talking
about is the history of intermodal containers and how they play a big role in the world trade
commerce. It all started with a man that goes by Malcolm McLean who was born in 1913 in
Maxton, North Carolina. Malcolm started out by pumping gas at a local gas station to where he
saved up enough money to buy him a truck. From there he created McLean Trucking company,
involving his own family members and as Malcolm as one of the drivers they hauled empty
tobacco barrels as their first cargo. Since his only pick up truck in 1934 to 1770 trucks and 32
terminals in 1956, McLean Trucking became the second largest trucking company in the United
States, and the first trucking company to appear on the stock exchange. Though all of his success
early on, Malcolm sold his interest in his company and wanted to try something different. The idea
of transporting trucks on ships during World War II was around but Malcolm

sure to note any striking similarities or differences. Congolese National Movement and The
Nonaligned Movement. In the Congolese National Movement the Belgians made hasty plans for
independence, believing that a weak Congolese government would be susceptible to neocolonial
control. In the Non Aligned Movement while the others were most concerned with maintaining
distance from former colonial powers and the United States, Tito s goal was to avoid Soviet
domination of his socialist regime. Both featured hard workers wanting to have a world filled with

Improved military technology (such as tanks, airplanes and the atomic bomb) and new tactics
(such as trench warfare and firebombing) led to increased levels of wartime casualties (such as
Nanjing, Dresden and Hiroshima). 3. How did Europe dominated the global political order at the
beginning of the 20th century, but both land based and transoceanic empires gave way to new
states by the century s end?
A. The older, land based Ottoman, Russian and Qing empires collapsed due to a combination of
internal and external factors (such as political and social discontent, technological and economic
stagnation, and military defeat).
B. Some colonies negotiated their independence (such as India and the Gold Coast from the British
Empire, and West Africafrom the French Empire).
C. Some colonies achieved independence through armed struggle (such as Algeria and Vietnam
from the French Empire, and Angola from the Portuguese Empire).
4. How did the emerging ideologies of anti imperialism contributed to the dissolution of empires and
the restructuring of states?
A. Nationalist leaders and parties (such as the Indian National Congress, Ho Chi Minh in French
Indochina, and Kwame Nkrumah in British Gold Coast) in Asia and Africa challenged imperial

41. Drafting A Leadership Philosophy
1Why should you have a leadership philosophy?
Leadership philosophy has a foundational element to it. The different components included create
a strong basis on which to build on and take your leadership forward. You are better equipped to
lead and to succeed in your leadership with a leadership philosophy due to three core benefits:
character, consistency and collaboration.
Character
Drafting a leadership philosophy will provide clarity and focus to your character. Character matters
because it influences your everyday decision making and communication with other people.

Before providing you with the format for your written philosophy, we are going to explain why
having a published leadership philosophy matters. As you ll see in the next section a written
leadership philosophy statement can be useful in getting to the heart of your true values and ideas.
By having a written statement, you are sure to have a reminder of the ideals you want to be pushing
towards. But it can be more beneficial to have the leadership philosophy published or at least
shared with a few people because it increases your accountability. If you are the only one aware
of your leadership principles, you don t need to worry about others calling you out on doing
something against your values since no one has knowledge of them. On the other hand, if you are
loosing your sense of direction, a person who has seen your leadership philosophy statement can
nudge you back in the right direction. The objectives you want to deliver and the values you want
to keep at the heart of your leadership will be known. Even the knowledge that people have access
to your statement or your closest friends or mentors know them can be enough to keep you focused

42. The Legal And Ethical Implications Of Therapy Nurses
Stomal therapy nurses are faced with many legal and ethical implications within their practice. In
such a busy and autonomous role, stomal therapy nurses may not be fully aware of the legal, and
ethical implications that do exist within their practice. Nurses do not set out to find themselves in
court, or to cause their patients harm. Generally nurses want to help others, and by being aware of
legal and ethical issues within their practice, they may protect themselves from litigation, and their
patients from disservice. What are the legal and ethical implications stomal therapists are faced
with? Some of the implications found in journal articles include; nursepatient relationships,
professional boundaries, accountability, patient consent, malpractice, negligence, and ethical issues
regarding stoma care and patient discharge. Many more implications exist within nursing, and
should be explored thoroughly by nursing professionals. Stomal therapists need to be aware of all
of the implications, in order to practice within their legal and ethical boundaries. This literature
review will be focusing on the legal and ethical issues within the nurse patient relationship,
professional boundaries, and patient consent. In obtaining literature for this review, a CINAHL
