Byu Application Essay
Crafting an essay on the "BYU Application" can prove to be a challenging endeavor, requiring a
delicate balance between showcasing your individuality and adhering to the specific guidelines
set by the university. The difficulty lies in articulating your experiences, aspirations, and personal
qualities in a way that not only captures the attention of the admissions committee but also
aligns seamlessly with BYU's values.
First and foremost, understanding the core values of Brigham Young University (BYU) is
crucial. The essay should reflect a deep appreciation for these values and illustrate how your own
beliefs and character align with the university's mission. This necessitates extensive research into
the institution's principles and a thoughtful exploration of how you embody those principles.
Moreover, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic statements that fail to distinguish
you from other applicants. The admissions committee sifts through numerous essays, making it
imperative to present a narrative that is both unique and compelling. Expressing your
individuality while staying within the prescribed word limit requires careful consideration of
every word and phrase.
The process demands introspection, self-awareness, and the ability to articulate your thoughts
effectively. Juggling between personal experiences, academic achievements, and extracurricular
involvement can be daunting, as you strive to present a comprehensive picture of yourself within
the confines of the essay.
Additionally, perfecting the tone and language is a critical aspect. Striking the right balance
between confidence and humility, passion and restraint, can be a formidable task. Ensuring
clarity and coherence while maintaining a captivating writing style adds another layer of
complexity.
In conclusion, crafting a compelling essay for the BYU application requires meticulous planning,
thorough research, and a keen understanding of both personal and university values. It is a
process that demands creativity, self-reflection, and the ability to effectively communicate your
unique qualities. While challenging, successfully navigating this task can significantly enhance
your chances of securing admission to BYU.

Integrated Co Teaching And Its Effects On Middle School...
Integrated Co Teaching and its effects on Middle School Students
Integrated Co Teaching, also known as ICT, is an educational setting where students
with disabilities learn alongside general education students. The ICT setting provides
students the support of a special education teacher within the general education
classroom. The goal of integrated co teaching is to ensure that students with
disabilities master grade level skills and concepts, while having their special education
needs met. In addition to mastering skills and concepts, having ICT classrooms
allows students with disabilities to remain with their age appropriate peers and learn
in an environment that is least restrictive. There have been many debates on whether
or not integrated co teaching has positive or negative effects for students with and
without disabilities. The concerns are either academic and social benefits or setbacks.
There has been quite a bit of research to show that integrated co teaching has positive
outcomes for both general education students and students with disabilities.
One factor that plays a huge role in successful implementation of integrated co
teaching and has better outcomes for students is when the co teachers are trained and
work together. Magiera and Zigmond (2005) preformed a study at four middle
schools in New York that focused on the instructional practices for students with and
without disabilities; with teachers who were not trained in integrated co teaching
Rhetorical Analysis Of Lucas s The Art Of Public Speaking
Lisa, head publisher of a rising publishing firm company. She starts her day by
speaking to her publicity team on some new marketing strategies. Lisa then spends
time on the phone talking with all of the editors she represents. At a lunch meeting
Lisa talks to the executive board on a couple of manuscripts she has been
championing. Would one think that Lisa is a public speaker? Most people would say
no, but after reading Stephen Lucas the Art of Public Speaking, I have learned that
Lisa is a public speaker and is using her public speaking skills to inform her
coworkers. Chapter 15 is about speaking to inform an audience. Lucas begins this
chapter with the types of informative speeches and some analysis and organization
skills for each topic. There are many ways to classify an informative speech, Lucas
breaks it down into four main topics: objects, processes, events, and concepts.
Lucas begins this chapter by speaking on speeches about objects. Lucas defines an
object as Objects include anything that is visible, tangible, and stable to form. ...
Here are examples of subjects for speeches about objects e book readers, Susan B.
Anthony, service dogs, titanium, human eye and Golden Gate Bridge (Lucas, 2012,
pg. 278.). Lucas reminds us that whatever subject a speaker will pick they must
know that they will not be able to tell everything on the subject. To instead pick the
most important ideas the speaker wants to get across and use those to develop a main
point. Next Lucas shows
The Witch Craze Of The Sixteenth And Seventeenth
Centuries
Gender, race, age, and ability have been used to shape the history and our
understanding of human sexuality, as well as how certain groups, specifically
marginalized groups, were seen as degenerate or delinquent people. When examining
why and how specific groups of people were though of as being sexual delinquents, it
is important to use an intersectional lens, and consider how these different categories
and identities of gender, race, age, and ability work together to form experiences and
opinions. By marginalizing, controlling, and regulating the sexualities and bodies of
those who were women, people of colour, adolescents, or differentially abled, the
social norm of a white, heterosexual, patriarchy has been enforced through history.
Throughout the history of humankind, women s bodies and sexualityhave been
critiqued, chastised, and judged by society. During the witch craze of the sixteenth
and seventeenth centuries, many women were accused of being evil beings. Over
60,000 women were wrongfully executed by their accusers . It was believed that
woman who were midwives, challenged male authority, or were sexually
promiscuous and given themselves to Satin and were now evil and immoral beings.
The more feminine senses, touch, smell, and taste were often associated with being
a witch . By accusing women who were sexual agents or who were associated with
women s bodies or sexuality (such as midwives) of being evil and executing them,
men were able to use gender to
Informative Essay On Cancer
Cancer. You never thought you would be one of the unlucky human beings to get
cancer, but then all of a sudden, you re sick. Throwing up, not being able to swallow
anything, and chest pains. You go to the doctor and he says something you are not
expecting. Something you never thought you would ever hear. You have cancer. Did
you know that men are more likely to get Esophageal cancerthan women? Tobacco
and Alcohol use is the leading cause of this type of cancer. In this essay, I will be
talking about Esophageal cancer. I will cover the topics of what it is, causes of the
disease, how to treat it, how to prevent it, and the many effects it has on your body.
Cancer is a disease that no one wants, but it is a disease everyone is willing to fight
if it means getting your life back. What is esophageal cancer? Well, esophageal or
esophagus is the tube that connects the throat to the stomach. The cancer starts in the
inner layer and continues to grow outward. There are two types of esophageal cancer.
The first one is Squamous Cell Carcinoma. The second type is Adenocarcinoma.
Squamous is a cell in the body that are thin and flat and they look like fish scales.
They are found in the tissue of the body and they form the surface of the skin and is
a lining on the hollow organs of the body and of the respiratory digestive tracts.
Squamous cell carcinoma can be located on anywhere on the esophagus, but it is
mostly found in the neck area and upper chest cavity. Adenocarcinoma is a
Literary Elements In The Hunger Games By Suzanne
Collins
The book The Hunger Games was written by Suzanne Collins and it s the first book
out of the trilogy she has written. Collins uses a mixture of modern and classical as
elements in this story and it allows for any age reader to enjoy it. Some the literary
devices she uses in the book are setting, symbolism, and themes. It s everything you
could want in a book because it has a little bit of each genre, like action, romance,
comedy, and even mystery. This book will have you sitting at the edge of your seat
on minute and then grabbing for a tissue the next. When reading this book, The
Hunger Games by Suzanne Collinsand looking at the setting, symbolism, and theme it
s easy to sense the different tones and emotions going on in the story.
The book is in the voice of a young 16 year old girl named Katniss Everdeen who
lives in District 12 which is the poorest district in all of Panem, and all of the
districts are controlled by the Capitol. The character who is in charge of the
Capitol is President Snow and he and the people of Panem have created this
entertainment for themselves called the hunger games. The games consists of
randomly drawing one male and one female from each district to compete in the
games until one alive remains. The winner gets to receive an income from the
Capitol, to live in a better environment in their district with their families, and is
adored by the Capitol. The day of the reaping, which is the day the names are
randomly drawn was mandatory for
Aztecs Dbq
The Aztecs were a marvelous civilization that were located in the Americas, from
1350 to 1519. Their main city was tenochtitlan , in a geological basin of modern day
central Mexico. Two things the Aztec culture is known for are their complex farming
methods and their somewhat disturbing religious beliefs. However historians should
emphasize the role of agriculture in the Azteccivilization . The Aztecs farming
methods helped them expand their territory and empire. Document A shows that the
Aztec empire grew to more than 200 miles west to east and north to south . As the
empire started growing , the Aztecs needed a efficient method of farming . This
means that the growth of the empire meant that the population also grew and since
they had an effective

Kenneth Branagh s Adaptation of Frankenstein for the Cinema
The story of Frankenstein has been set in the Georgian period. The story line can be
cut briefly to a crazed scientist (Victor Frankenstein) thinking he can play God . He
tries to bring a creation to life and once succeeding he realises the terrible mistake he
has made and sets about trying to correct it by murdering it. The Monster sets out for
revenge killing family members one by one, ending with them both dying in ice
covered mountains. Kenneth Branagh has re told this story from Mary Shelley s
novel, Frankenstein. Branagh has been very careful when creating this movie, and
because of it, the movie has said to be a movie that ... Show more content on

This is a form of expressionism, of how Branagh has created this movie from the
adaptation of a novel and managed to make it very powerful emotionally to the
viewer.
The class structure of the film plays a big part in the story line, from Victor being
at the top of the upper class scale then coming down to the middle class such as the
Nanny working for Victor s family and then ending right down towards the lower
class, the poverty of the working people in the town. Throughout the story Victor
and the Monster are both shown to be outsiders. Victor began to get ideas in his
head about being able to create a new life, starting to hide himself in his lab for
weeks on end studying and experimenting. He begins to lose touch with the outside
world and becomes extremely isolated. I think the Monster becomes alienated from
the moment it is created. It breaks out of the lab, which is ironic as Victor tries to
lock himself in the lab, and roams the disease ridden streets. He is exposed in the
town and the townspeople immediately try to rid him from the town by chasing him
and using physical violence towards the Monster. The Monster fleas the town,
actually wanting to exclude himself from the outside world because of the way he
looks and
Olan The Virtuous Woman Essay
Olan or the Virtuous Woman, same person? Relatively close? Or just complete
opposites? Throughout the novel, The Good Earth Olan a slave woman with
unbound feet is wedded to Wang Lung a poor crop farmer. Olan is responsible for
many things in her marriage with Lung such as cooking and such, but she is a
right minded woman who does more than she is asked or told. She carries weight
on her shoulders and works her hardest even in times of struggle. Olan does not go
down easy, she s a worker and will not quit till the job done. So is Olan the Virtuous
Woman? Well of course she is, the closest thing to it! The Virtuous Woman is a
person who is worth far more than jewels and money, their worth is meaningful
through their love, care, respect, and hard work. They give their husbands a full
heart and show them that they need no spoiling for they are content and happy
with the life they are provided and are willing to put forth the same effort as the
other does. Olan is a perfect example of such a woman for she does more than she
is asked by pushing herself to the limits to provide her husband and show that she is
willing to be right there by his side... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Olan portrays these qualities greatly throughout the novel, even when she should
not. For example Olan is proud of the person she is and love s her life very much,
she values what she has, such as the land Lung was going to sell and she told him
not too, that their family would be fine. On the other hand, Wang Lung involves
himself with another woman named Lotus. Olan should be furious with this and
unkind, but she is not, she allows it to happen and continues to love and cherish her
husband, provide for him and work hard while ignoring it all. Olan may be the
Virtuous Woman but her husband takes advantage of this amazing blessing by not
giving to her what she has given to him, a loving, caring
College Essay On Maternity Leave
Maternity leave has not always been available to new parents in the United States.
Only thirteen states provided time off work to care for a new baby while holding
secure their job and its benefits up until 1993 (Rossin 2011). Typically, the employer
is responsible for implementing a maternity leave policy, other than the government
mandated policy of the Family and Medical LeaveAct (Berger, Hill, Waldfogel, 2005).
Certain states have enacted their own laws regarding maternityleave policies. Of
these state policies, some are as short as 4 weeks (Berger, et al., 2005). In the
United States, there is no national law stating whether a company is required to give
paid leave; however, there is the Family and Medical Leave Act, which only affects...

Established in 1869, Purdue University provides undergraduate and graduate degrees
to students. This University has several branch campuses including Indiana Purdue
Fort Wayne (IPFW), located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This university has an excellent
parental leave policy. Their policy encompasses not only the mothers, but also the
fathers. This gives fathers an opportunity to bond with their new baby, as well.
Their policy also includes adoptive parents. According to the policy (2011), the
reason it is in place is to provide new parents, whether they be birth parents or
adoptive parents, an opportunity to bond with their new child and adjust to their new
life while trying to figure out their professional duties at work. One statement found
in the policy is especially significant in the changing work family situation. This is
critical because institutions are finding that a work culture that allows faculty and
staff to balance the demands of the workplace with the demands of personal or family
life is becoming increasingly important. The policy states that, as the workplace
continues to change, so must the policies that belong to the company. Family friendly
workforce policies are essential (Purdue
Token Economy Observation Paper
Participants: I will be the only one participating. Materials: The materials involved
in this study include my One Plus One phone alarm, a pen, paper, star stickers, my
laptop, a subscription to Netflix, and movie tickets. Procedures: In this study, I
plan to utilize the principles of operant conditioning and a token economy in an
attempt to learn to wake up at precisely 6:00 am on weekday mornings. On the
night of Sunday, March 19th, 2017, I will set my phone alarm clock to 6:00 am
before bed. This is done in preparation for base line measurement procedures. On the
morning of Monday, March 20th, 2017 the base line measurement trails will begin.

Only this time, there will be a reward and punishment system in the form of a token
economy that should influence my behavior. During the conditioning trials period,
(Monday, March 27th through Friday, April 14th weekdays only), I will follow the
exact same procedures that I did the previous week. I will wake up at exactly 6:00
am when my alarm goes off, get out of bed, and note the date, time, and whether or
not I accomplished the task successfully. However, this time the number of times
and star stickers that indicate I successfully accomplish this task will matter more.
If I successfully wake up at 6:00 am during each weekday session (five days in a
row), I will reward myself by going to see a movie on the weekend. If I wake up on
time only 4 out of the five weekday sessions, then I will reward myself with
watching one movie on Netflix during the weekend. Going to the movies and
watching a movie on Netflix will be positive reinforcement. If I fail to wake up on
time for three days in a row during a specific conditioning week, then I will not
watch any movie at all. Furthermore, I will not allow myself to access Netflix. This
will be a negative punishment. Ultimately, the desired behavior of waking up at
6:00 am weekday mornings will be positively reinforced by the reward of getting to
watch a movie on the weekend. Failure to wake up at 6:00 am for three or more
weekdays will be negatively

that play very important roles , but today I will only be talking about two of them ;
Mark Antony and Brutus . Now according to the play they both seem to be good

Analysis Of The Starbucks Story

In the big city of New York City there was a Starbucks in every corner but in one
specific corner. In the 5th avenue there was a not so famous Starbucks who the
same people always came in. first the smart girl, Africa with his brother who won t

One day Isabel was with too much pressure because her boss her pressuring her with

the arrogant Kellies; Lola and Lela (14), James (27), and John (16). The sweet

Grading Is A Standardized System
GRADE CALCULATOR
Grading is a standardized system in an area, region, town or country that is used to
rank school going children depending on their efforts and results at school. The
grading system can be expressed in four primary ways. It can either be in terms of
letters whereby different letters represent one s performance and these letters are
assigned numeric values. For example, the best letter grade is an A with a numeric
value of 4 while the worst grade is F with a numeric value of 0. It can also be
represented in terms of a percentage of all the rightly answered questions in a test;
for example a score of 60% in mathematics. It can also be expressed as a value out of
the total; for example scoring 7/10 in an English continuous assessment test or it
can be expressed as a range; for example 1 to 6. All the above are ways for ranking
students but at the end of the day, every school has its own preference.
The fact that schools use different grading systems, it also poses some difficulties in
the education systems because of the fact that grades keep inflating. This means that
the works that would have received lower grades in the past are now being awarded
with higher grades. Grades inflation causes problems like:
It makes it nearly impossible to compare students who did their exams at different
time intervals. This is primarily because as at the moment, higher grades are being
awarded for the same work.
The grades are not uniform among the various disciplines that
Canadian Literature in Grade 12
Change is a critical part of life. It is evident all around us, especially in the things we
learn. The knowledge available to us in the modern day is dynamic; it is constantly
changing, developing, and providing new points of view. Science and mathematics
curriculums in Ontario high school reflect the evolution of knowledge; they are
edited and adjusted regularly to accommodate new material that should be presented
to students. Shouldn t other subject curriculums, specifically English, be just as
dynamic? It often feels like English curriculums in Ontario high schools are static; the
same books are studied by class after class, generation after generation. The time has
come for change. Ontario students should be exposed to new literature, particularly
Canadian literature. Students need this exposure to Canadian literature to become
more familiar with the literature of their country; through literature, we are able to
focus on our Canadian culture while being surrounded by other cultures, we promote
new, younger authors, and we become aware of the mosaic that is Canadian culture.
Exposing high schoolstudents in Ontario to more Canadian literature would allow
them to develop a deeper appreciation for the Canadian culture, especially when they
are surrounded by other cultural influences. Incorporating Canadian culture more
extensively would create a learning environment where Canadian culture is studied in
depth, allowing students to appreciate its variety and complexity.
Shylock s Tragedy And Its Toll On Romantic Comedy
Shylock s Tragedy and its Toll on Romantic Comedy The inclusion of Shylock in
The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare adds a complexity not typically
found in romantic comedy. Shakespeare could have made Shylock s role a light
mockery of anti Semitism, or something to that effect, but instead he chose to create
a tragedy at the center of romance and comedy. This makes for a play, which does
not fit neatly into an assigned genre. Shylocks language in this passage, reveals
several things, not only about the play, but also the other characters. Through
Shylock, the hypocrisy of the Christians is revealed. Shylock flips this romantic
comedy on its head, and turns it into something more significant. Pauses and
repetitions give... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This can be seen in both the content and structure of Shylock s lines. Intentional
pauses indicate Shakespeare s intention for an emotional reading of Shylock.
Pauses and repetition in this particular moment in the play suggest Shylock is at a
loss for words, and caught up in his grief: The curse / never fell upon our nation
until now I never felt it / till now (3.1.78 80). Jessica s choice to join her father s
persecutors is cruel. He pauses after this statement, perhaps because Jessica s
betrayal is the worst type of betrayal against her heritage, and against him. She
causes Shylock, who has always had a hard exterior in spite of oppression and abuse,
to feel the pain of his persecution. This realization deserves pause, not only for
Shylock, but also the audience. For Jessica to leave her father, in this particular way,
brings the mistreatment and pain of an entire nation to Shylock. Because his
motivations seem somewhat convoluted at times, by greed and revenge, these
moments of intentional pause allow the audience time to realize the magnitude of
Shylock s sorrow, and perhaps his true motivation. The repetition in his language,
demonstrates a shift in tone, from concise angry Shylock, to repetitive sad Shylock.
Repetition is used throughout the play for various dramatic effects. For example, in
act three, scene three Antonio

Insurance is a very important factor to attaining financial viability in an economy. It
is a very difficult concept that requires a profound augmentative erudition of

This aspect increased maritime trade thus increasing the Gross Domestic Product of
nations. Since its inception, the concept of insurance has been revolutionized and is
comprehensive enough to cater for a wide array of risks: man made or natural
risks (Westall 2002 p 95). Every insurance company must as a prerequisite employ
financial risk advisors. The financial risk advisors herein are referred to as
actuaries. They serve the function of assessing the risk of a particular policy and
prescribing the amount of premium payable as well as determining the financial
viability of any policy. In doing so, the financial risk advisors base their opinions
on the historical information available. There are two types of risks; manmade
and natural disaster. Man made risks as is ostensible, is derivative of man s
actions. They include, though not limited to, automobile or fire risks. Such risks
are highly frequent and less severe; in respect to the insurer. Consequent to this, a
proliferation of information is readily available to estimate the likelihood of
prospective loss. On the other hand, natural risks are derivative of nature. They are
less frequent and very severe. Subsequently, information on the likelihood of loss
and occurrence is minimal. This aspect makes it very difficult to cover natural
disasters. Be that as it may, as will be elaborated, the advent of science and
technology has generated a
Downfall of Macbeth
The tragedy of Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, follows the fall of Macbeth from
a man in a position of power with a contented life, to a man with nothing but mouth
honor and a corrupted soul. In this essay, I wish to show to what extent Macbeth s
tragedy was his own fault.
The downfall of Macbeth begins early on in the play when he and Banquo (a fellow
Scottish noble) meet the witches. The witches waylay Macbeth and Banquo whilst
they were on their way to meet Duncan, King of Scotland. They decide to listen to
the witches, out of sheer curiosity. The three witches greet Macbeth as Thane of

His underlying motives become clear when he decides that he will do the evil thing,
and is going to kill Duncan. We will speak further, he says, making his intentions
apparent to the audience. Although unsure, he will not totally dismiss the idea, and is
even considering it. Lady Macbeth now knows that she has him within her grasp, and
she will now make sure that she wins him completely over. In my opinion, not
making his mind up creates a chance for Lady Macbeth. She sees this uncertainty and
later exploits his unwillingness to make decisions.
A short while later, Duncan arrives, accompanied by all of his Thanes. They all feast,
and drink to the success of the battle against Norway. As the night wears on, Macbeth
has to time to contemplate the consequences of killing Duncan. Macbeth makes the
moral decision not to proceed saying;
We will proceed no further in this business. He (Duncan) hath honoured me of late,
and I have bought golden opinions from all sorts of people, which would be worn
now in the newest gloss, not cast aside so soon .
Macbeth attempts to give excuse for not proceeding, but fails to give any proper
reasons for it. The only advantage he sees for not killing Duncan is that he respects
him, and by killing him it would be disrespecting him. I believe that this is not
Gay Dance Clubs Essay example
The dance club is no longer an exclusive venue drawing together people with similar
musical interests. Instead, it has become the commercialized superclub, where profit
rather than music is the bottom line. As a space traditionally influenced by
homosexuals becomes a major business opportunity, this commercialization has led to
the inclusion of gay subcultures within mainstream American society. However, this
process has served to reinforce social stigmaand stereotypes. The advertising and club
environment designed to sell the experience to the gay customer is founded on the
overtly sexual club cultureof the 1970s and early 80s. On the dance floor the
constructed image of the club combines with the inherent sexual and mind altering...

In many clubs, the underground days of clubbing past have been replaced with the
homogenized superclubs of the present: gigantic, multi floored venues attracting
thousands to listen to the music makers spin. Gone too are the days of exclusivity. As
club culture has been mainstreamed, entrepreneurs have found the new sound not
only revolutionary, but also profitable. Promoters and planners such as gay circuit
guru John Blair offer free membership cards and litter the streets with flyers offering
discounts when shown at the door. In the world of the superclub, capitalism and
profits shape dance culture.
With the popularizing of club culture has come an equal mainstreaming of its
components. As Fiona Buckland discusses in her book Impossible Dance: Club
Culture and Queer World Making, the music of today s clubs such as garage, hard
house and Hi NRG imply a historical continuity with gay parties of the 1970s with
deep roots in disco (2002, p. 67). Gay and black influences were a basic part of
disco music, explored in Bernard Weinraub s article Here s to Disco, It Never
Could Say Goodbye. The heritage that once put the music at odds with the more
straight white male sensibility of the contemporary rock music of the era (Weinraub,
2002) is today a basic piece of the dance scene for straight and gay audiences alike.
Now that club culture has become a commodity in the superclub, bought and sold by
promoters and club owners,

The demand for money
Exam question: The demand for money is purely a transactionary demand. Discuss
The objective of this question is to discuss the statement: The demand for money is
purely a transactionary demand. This essay will begin by with determination of money
. It will show that it is usual to distinguish three reasons why people want to hold their
assets in the form of money. And these reasons are: the transactions motive, the
precautionary motive and the asset or speculative motive. These motives are known
as theories of money demand.
Money В– anything which is generally acceptable as a means of payment and which

It can be seen that if the interest rate rises then the price of such fixed return bonds
fall, making bonds less attractive proposition to investors than money. When the
price of such fixed return bond rises, then they are more attractive for an investor
than money. Some investors will expect the rate of interest to rise, while others
will expect it to fall. When the rate of interest is realised to be unduly high by
individuals, most will assume that the next move is in a downward direction.
When the rate of interest falls, the price of bonds increases and so there are capital
gains to be made. When the rate of interest is high there will be a substantial
demand for bonds and hence a low speculative demand to hold money. If, however,
the rate of interest is perceived to be unduly low then most individuals will assume
that the next move is upwards, resulting in a fall in bond prices and, therefore, a
capital loss for those who own bonds. The speculative demand for money to hold
will be high when people owing bonds are looking to sell them before the price falls.
This is a speculative demand (SD) for money. A fall in the rate of interest from r1 to
r2 leads to an expansion in the speculative demand for money. At a low rate of
interest r3, the speculative demand for money is perfectly elastic. And everyone

Roy s Perspective:
The only way we can track down that serial killer is to split up. I announced. My
soldiers, 1st Lieutenant Riza Hawkeye, 2nd Lieutenant Jean Havoc, and Alphonse

chopping up his victims with a butcher knife, I guess you could say that s how he got
his name.
Yes, Sir. replied Riza. Her and Alphonse started to walk down the dreary tunnel in
the opposite direction. We were underneath laboratory five, originally looking for

Are the Stories from the Holocaust Survivors with PTSD...
This investigation will answer the question To what extent are the stories from the
Holocaust survivors with PTSD reliable as historical sources? This question is
important because there are still holocaust survivors alive today, and their stories are
arguably the ones that teach us he most about the Holocaust, since they are primary
sources of the event. The survivors dealt with a lot of physical and emotional
trauma while in the camps, so it would be easy for them to procure PTSD. The
mental illness PTSD can make it harder for the survivors to talk about certain events,
because it could increase the symptoms of the illness. With this research

Sexism And Women s Rights
Women make up half of this world s human population, and with consideration of
this fact, who is to say women are lesser of the two genders? Sexism and Women s
Rights are a global issue, that affects more than just woman themselves. Even in the
United States, commonly known as the Land of the Free , ironically is empowered
by the Statue of Liberty, which presents false ideas that women are well respected in
this country and provided with equal rights. Throughout history, women have
constantly been working hard to prove their strength and ability, it was not until the
twentieth century that women started to rise up in society and were slowly
beginning to be viewed as an equally capable being in the eyes of the United States.

Even though America has still not reached gender equality, I do agree with those
who claim that American women have substantially grown in society and
contradicted many stereotypes. In places like Afghanistan, women are not to go
anywhere without the approval of men. There are who try to escape their abusive
husbands are thrown in jail. Though a jail sentence may seem tragic, many feel
that if they were to ever be let out would be killed. In Armenia when women try to
inform authorities of the abuse they are experiencing at home, they are asked what

Walt Whitman s Poetry Essay
Walt Whitman s poetry embodies the changes taking place in America during and
after the Civil War. He experiences them firsthand as a Civil War nurse. In the
poems, When Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d, and A Child Said What is the
Grass? . Whitman talks about both population growth, and the many deaths during
the Civil War. He sees life and death as a cycle, and examines life after the life of an
individual. The basic meanings of Whitman s poems are very relevant to what he
was facing at the time. As a nurse in the Civil War, he saw many young, dedicated
people die for what they believed in. He respected these soldiers, and felt that their
deaths should have meaning. Whitman s poems relate to his ideas that a democracy
is built from individuals, and that each individual has a purpose. Although death is an
inevitable, Whitman sees all lives as immortal. The legacy people leave behind when
they die is something that the poet respected... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In When the Lilacs Last in the Dooryard Bloom d, Whitman says, Here, coffin that
slowly passes, I give you my sprig of lilac. The lilac in this quote represents hope,
life, and rebirth; much like spring, when they bloom. The quote shows the author
vows to remember and honor the fallen as individuals, much like blades of grass or
a flower. In the poem A Child Said What is the Grass, Whitman uses the green grass
as a symbol of multiplicity, using the rapid growth and reproduction of grass as a
sign that many new lives have sprouted from those who have died, and that regrowth
after death is possible. In both of these poems, Walt Whitmanuses the seasons to
remember his fallen friends; mourning their lives as new buds of spring appear. The
fall and winter seasons are used as a representation of what the Civil War was like,
with the absence of life in that time. The springtime is where repopulation begins to
occur, and life returns to the
Scaabies Research Paper
Scabies is an itchy skin condition caused by the microscopic mite, Sarcoptes scabei.
It is common all around the world, and can affect any one. Scabies spreads quickly
in places such as hospitals, child care centers, and nursing homes. This occurs
because of crowded conditions where there is often skin to skin contact between
people. Scabiescan easily be transferred by household members. Sharing bedding,
towels, and clothes can usually spread scabies. This can occur more easily when the
infested person has crusted scabies, a severe form of scabies caused by delayed
treatment of the infestation, mite filled wounds covered by scabs. Scabies cannot be
acquired by a pet because they get a different mite infection called mange. Therefore,

around the waist, on the bottom, or on private parts. There is normally a delay of
four to six weeks between the time of the infestation and the start of the itching.
Symptoms often persist for one to several weeks after successful removing of the

of the new infestation in a much shorter time period, about one to four days. There
are a couple of medications that have been proven effective in treating scabies, such

treatment should involve the entire household, and any others who have had recent,
contact with the infested person. Options to control itchiness include prescription anti
inflammatory agents. Lastly, bedding, clothing and towels used during the previous
three days should be well washed in hot

The Nervous System ( Cns )
Introduction: (Widmaier, E., Raff, H. )The nervous system is a complex system our
body uses to make decisions and perform actions. It is made up of cells called
neurons and special cells called glial cells (or neuroglia). Neurons produce responses
by generating action potentials. Action potentials are formed when graded potentials
are summated at the initial segment (integrating center) of a neuroncell body. The
action potential then propogates through the axon. The nervous systemhas two main
branches: the Central Nervous System, and the Periphreal Nervous system. The
central nervous system (CNS) consists of the brainand spinal cord. The neurons in the
CNS cannot heal itself when damaged ,and the majority of cells (around 90%) are...

The nervous system can call other muscles through a process called recruitment if
a load is to heavy. Efferent neurons cause acetylcholine to be released at the
neuromuscular junction ,which causes the muscle to contract. The autonomic
division (ANS) innervates involuntary actions such as heart beat. The ANS is
divided into two divisions , the sympathetic and parasympathetic division. The
sympathetic is often referred to as the fight or flight response ,because it is more
active when one is in a dangerous situation. The parasympathetic division is often
referred to as the rest or digest state ,because it is more involved in digestion and
during a relaxed state. It is worth noting that both of these systems are always
working simultaneously ,just sometimes one is more powerful than the other.
(Widmaier, E., Raff, H. End Citation)Afferent neurons are responsible for
sensations of touch. The neurons branch out and innervate areas of tissue. Tissue
where the neurons have a smaller area of innervation (like the fingers) are capable
of feeling with greater precision ,whereas areas where one neuron covers a greater
area (such as the back) have less precision. (Cutaneous Receptors and Referred Pain

be measured using electrodes. A recording of brain activity is called an
electroencephalogram (EEG). There are four EEG rythms that can be detected: alpha

information from. This information can be taken in knowingly, or through
subliminal messages. The media like magazines, videos, commercials, television
shows, and movies. Since, media has major influence over the public; violence
being portrayed in the media is causing problems. Violence against women in the
media has been happening for decades. The violence has been taking shape in
many forms, as in emotional and physical violence. The types of emotional
violence portrayed in the media include sexualizing, degrading, and treating
women as less than human. The types of physical violence used in the media
include hitting, slapping, kicking, sexual assault, and strangling. For a social

Analysis Of Oedipus At Colonus

foresee future events, and that certain people, seers, could access this information.
Oracles, priests often associated with a certain god such as the oracle to Apollo at
Delphi were believed to be able to interpret visions from the gods and provide
prophecies to people seeking knowledge of the future. Oracles were a part of Greek
life many people, including famous leaders and common folk, consulted them for
help when making difficult decisions. Many years before Oedipusat Colonus, Oedipus
fulfills one of the most famous and tragic prophecies in literature that he would kill
his father marry his mother. Despite all the efforts undertaken to prevent this horrid
fate, the prophecy comes true. Oedipus killed his father and married his mother,
which drove her to suicide, yet Oedipus did not knowingly commit these sins. As he
realizes what he has done, his overwhelming guilt induces him to gouge out his eyes
and become an outcast and a beggar. The reaction when he discovers what he has
done in Oedipus Tyrannus is violent and chaotic; however, in Oedipus at Colonus,
Oedipus s sense of guilt for his famous sins is more complex. He has suffered much
for what he did, and he still feels guilt and repulsion. He is still too ashamed to talk
about his past when asked by the citizens of Colonus; however, Oedipus has a better
perspective of his actions through time. He understands that his intent was

In our group, a couple members were chided by other members about having their
phones out in case anyone even thought they were cheating. One girl, who has
clearly had quite a bit to drink is yelling and wavering in her chair. She receives
many dirty looks from my group and other neighbouring tables. No one says
anything but she is clearly considered a disruption. The only time groups are
noticeably loud are during the large gaps between sections. During that time music
is playing in background (usually songs that were featured on the song questions
from the previous section) and people are jabbering to each other. Conversation do
not actually tend to be about the trivia, but rather the previous week, catching up
with each other, and swapping stories. One common theme to the trivia night was
the benefits regulars received. There is a free answer given out on twitter every
week. The trivia is set up the same every week as well: first section has a theme,
second section is usually a mystery word, and the last section has the same types of
questions given out each week. This gives an advantage to returning groups. Despite

Core Values In Social Work
Values Paper
My decision to become a social worker was no surprise to my family and friends. I
have always loved to encourage, build up, and help people in times of need;
regardless if it was shelter, food, or a friend to talk too. After reviewing the NASW
Code of Ethics, it is simple to understand that my core values align with becoming
and being a future professional social worker. As I ponder through the idea of how I
accumulated my core values, it is quite simple to trace them back to the way I was
raised by my parents.
The number one code listed by the NASW is service. Social workers are expected
to take their knowledge and mold and adapt to their client s situation. These
professionals are mentors, providers, and in many cases, individuals last chances to
get their life together. Their service is dependable and trustworthy, as they are
supporting their clients by pointing them in the right direction. I like to believe I
can adapt well to my surrounds, as well as others. My parents raised me to guide
and understand while lending out a helping hand. Service is a major aspect of social
work as it is my life. Volunteering at various organizations as a child has taught me
that by just giving my time and kindness can make someone s day, week, or even
their year.
Social justice is what social workers are known for pursuing in their profession. It
encircles a broad aspect of social issues ranging from socioeconomic issues,
discrimination, and unemployment. As a social worker

Dunstan is in a search for inner truth and spirituality, and Percy is searching for outer
beauty and appearances.
amp;#9;Another way in which the two contrast is that while Dunstan leaves a lot of
events in his life up to chance, Percy wants everyone, and everything in control in
his control. When Percy wants Dunstan to develop some nude pictures of Leola,
Dunstan makes the comparison of himself and Percy to the myth of King Candaules
and Gyges. There were two possible endings to the myth one being that Percy would
lose Leola to Dunstan. This is shown when Leola later tries to seduce Dunstan at a
Christmas party.
amp;#9;Although Dunstan and Percy are very much opposites throughout the novel,
there is one area in which they are both the same neither one of them is able to form
warm, lasting human relationships. At the beginning of their marriage, Percy is
unable to be faithful to Leola, but claims that since he quot;still loves her, the
encounters with the other ladies didn t really count. quot; Percy is still unable to be
faithful to Leola later on in their marriage, due to his failing efforts to bring up to
quot;his standards quot;. When Leola later dies, Percy does not even come home for
her funeral. Dunstan is not able to form lasting relationships either. When he
Utopia Vs. Dystopian Society
Have you ever wondered if you lived in a perfect society? A young boy named
Jonas lived in the perfect world. After becoming the next receiver he starts to
realize that his perfect world isn t so perfect after all. The Giver by Lois Lowry,
explains how a Utopian world would really be. The most important differences
between Utopian Society in The Giver and dystopian society are Rituals,
Assignments, and Families.
Jonas s society has many rituals some of them are the telling of feelings and dream
telling. Telling of feeling is when your familyunit sits down at dinner and shares
there feelings about the day and say if anything is bothering them. Dream telling is
when your family unit sits down in the morning and shares if they had any dreams
that night before. In the beginning of the book, Jonas explains It was one of the ...

In Jonas s society you can t pick a kid, and you can t say I love you to your family.
After being married for a certain amount of time, you are allowed to apply for a
child. In The Giver, it says Two children one male, one female to each family unit.
It was written very clearly in the rules (Lowry 48) This quote explains how you get
a child and how many you are allowed to have. Another difference is how families
show affection to one another you can t say I love you . After dinner, Jonas asks
Father? Mother? Jonas asked tentatively after the evening meal. I have a question I
want to ask you. What is it, Jonas? his father asked... Do you love me? There was
an awkward silence for a moment. Then Father gave a little chuckle. Jonas. You, of
all people. Precision of language, please! ... You could ask, Do you enjoy me? The
answer is Yes, his Or, his father suggested Do you take pride in my
accomplishments? (Lowry 126 127). This quote shows that families in his
community aren t allowed to show affection to one another because it might make
someone else feel less
The Field Of Sport Management
Comparatively, the field of sport management is a rather new academic discipline
(Chalip, 2006), which has faced some challenges in terms of justifying its
prominence in the academic world. Nonetheless, Chalip (2006) believes it was an
unavoidable course for the evolution of sport management. Mullin (1980) defined the
sportmanager as follows:
A person whose job entails planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling to
be performed within the context of an organisation whose primary product or service
is sport, or sport related (p3).
The term management has been defined in many different ways through research as it
continues to evolve across various industries. Although, Donnelly, Gibson and
Ivancevich (1992) described it as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a result, the professional and elite levels have also grown substantially these last
three or four decades (Vanderzwaag, 1998). Areas such as recreational sporting
programs, corporate sponsored events, sporting news media and sporting goods have
been established within the professional realm of sport as well. It is evident that as
the sport industry grew and evolved, it progressively took on the business attributes
of other industries (Masteralexis, Barr Hums, 2014).
Despite similar business industry characteristics, the sport industry has a unique
management, business and legal practice, unique to all other industries. Furthermore,
what makes this industry so unique is the organisational structures that are in place in
order to manage, govern and organise sport. Masteralexis et. al (2014) identified three
main management structures of sport; clubs, leagues and tournaments which are used
to manage and organise sport. These management systems encompass a range of
amateur and professional organisations that may apply variations to these structures
for the purpose of producing a sporting event.
For instance, American college sports such as basketball, baseball, track and field, are
structured under the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as an amateur
governing body, but are televised across the United States and structured
Locke Vs Rousseau
John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau are great political philosophers that have
many similar insights about society and its political form. However, when closely
examining the writings of these thinkers, one can easily discover many subtle
differences among them. The two philosophers base their theories on different
assumptions, which subsequently lead to dissimilar ideas about the origin of society
and the constitution of governments. As a result, their views of the development of
society greatly dissent from each other. Locke s and Rousseau s different versions in
the development of society cause them to reach disparate conclusions concerning the
legislative power, social unit, and revolution rights of the society. Locke believes that

Locke indicates that, by giving up some of one s rights, the state gains legislative
power and is obliged to use this power to make laws that benefit the people, who
hired it. Locke writes that, This legislative is not only the supreme power of the
common wealth, but sacred and unalterable in the hands where the community
have once placed it...over whom no body can have a power to make laws, but by
their own consent, and by authority received from them. (XI 134) Rousseau argues
that the state should not be able to acquire legislative power, but simply acts as an
executive. He claims that the legislative power comes from the people, for the
sovereign is simply the general will of everyone, in which the state should obey
and enforce. Rousseau states that, Each of us puts his person and all his power in
common under the supreme control of the general will, and, as a body, we receive
each member as an indivisible part of the whole ( ), showing that the aggregate
mind of the people, the general will, has the legislative power as all powers are
given to it. Locke stresses individualism in a society, while Rousseau bases the
majority of his political theory on the submission to the general will, which is a
collective unit. Locke emphasizes that in a society, one should still preserve life,
liberty, and property. He claims that instead of being one
Why US Consumers Buy Foreign Goods
For the first time in many years, ordinary people in the US are worrying about the
economic future of the country. The underlying reason for this worry is a
realization that the secret perpetual motion engine of the economy has run short of
what you might call fuel , for want of a better word. Here are the key steps in this
critical cycle in the economic life of the nation: 1. US consumers buy foreign
goods 2. Part of the profit from these sales is invested in additional foreign goods to
be sold to US consumers and the remainder is invested in US financial institutions 3.
The financial institutions lend the dollars to US consumers 4. US consumers buy
foreign goods (that is, we return to step 1) This is a positive feedback loop. If... Show

However, they are extremely controversial. People tend to have extremely strong
opinions about credit cards. On one side, we have those who vehemently criticize
credit cards as the modern evil that has brought financial ruin to so many Americans.
At the other extreme, we have those who see credit cards necessary instruments for
establishing and improving one s credit history and for learning financial restraint (
Credit cards, n.d.). So, which side is correct? Do credit cards spell financial doom
or are they a useful and valuable tool in our society today? In order for us to
honestly answer these questions, we must fully understand the advantages and
disadvantages of credit cards. First, think about some of the possible advantages of
having credit cards. The first thing that comes to my mind is convenience. Credit
cards are so tiny that they can easily fit in your pocket. Also, most places readily
take credit cards these days. And we cannot forget that credit cards can minimize
our need to count money at the cash register or to wait to buy that must have
product until we get our next paycheck. Therefore, it is accurate to say that credit
cards are relatively convenient to carry and use ( Credit cards, n.d., Pros section).
Moreover, credit cards are accepted in quite a number of foreign nations, making
traveling or online purchases a whole lot simpler. Credit cards also give you much

Scapegoat Trevon Analysis
Once upon a time, there was a scapegoat TreVon. Let me tell you the story. TreVon
was a small little boy who always got in trouble so he was the perfect scapegoat. It
was a fall morning in late October. The leafs so the tree begun to change color.
TreVon got up for school as usual. Little did he know his whole life was about to
change in the blink of an eye. He always got things blamed on him because he was
the youngest, but he could never imagine this.
TreVon was rushing to get out the door. He knew if he missed the buss one more
time he was going to be in big trouble. He s older brothers Luther and Jaron never
favored him anyway. So they did not care if he missed the bus. TreVon was very
smart kid but he wanted to be cool so he did not care about his grades. The boy s
mother worked 13 hour shifts at a old mill house. His mother Mary did not like
TreVon outside during the late hours of the night. Today was the day he probably
wished he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He walked over to TreVon and his friends wanting to know why they were out so
late on a school night. As he got close he could smell the smoke even stronger
realizing the smoke was from the kids. He asked the group who brought the
cigarettes. Nobody answered him, so he said, I guess I will have to call everybody
s parent . Blake pointed at TreVon and said, Officer he gave us the smokes . TreVon
looked confused in the face. Wondering why Blake would lie on him like that, he
thought they were friends.
Officer James took TreVon home. He explained to TreVon mother Mary that her
son was caught at a park smoking. He did not even get a chance to say anything.
Mary said to the officer i will handle him and pulled TreVon in the house. Mary
made TreVon clean the whole house. He was not allowed to leave the house for
anything. His mother quit her job and stayed home to home school him. His friends
never heard from him after that
How the physical effects of ageing affect an elderlys self...
How the physical effects of ageing affect a persons self esteem and self confidence
As a person becomes old they seem to lack in confidence. For some this isn t the
case but ageing can affect it in many ways. Not only positively but negatively too.
Self esteem is how someone feels about themselves as a person but self confidence is
how they protray themselves to others around them. Some being very confident but
others not being confident at all.
Compared to when they were young the elderly may lose there self confidence as
they begin to age and there are many reasons for that. A lot of people tend to be
very negative towards life because some may be embarassed about themselves such
as the old ageing look grey hair, wrinkles and ... Show more content on

Not everyone feels that they have to stay in just because they are old and
worthless . Every person is different in there own way, whether they lack in
confidence or not. I can understand why old people do tend to lose confidence as it
isn t very nice to have to walk around with wispy grey hair and old wrinkly skin. It is
embarassing for them and if they do love to take pride in there appearence then
seeing themself as old can knock there confidence a lot. A lot of people are very
insecure with the way they look as they don t want to be stared or laughed at. It is
very understandable for an elderly person to be the way they are.
Its not everyones cup of tea to go out and socialise, many like to stay in there own
environment where it is comfortable but by being forced to go out to these centres
it could actually make a person gain confidence despite the fact they dont have any at
all. It is a real ice breaker and I even feel that it is a really great way to help someone
to become happy again. It says that it caters for everyones needs, even the ones that
struggle with every day life. They don t leave anybody out so nobody has an excuse
to not socialise. It is a confidence booster

  • 1. Byu Application Essay Crafting an essay on the "BYU Application" can prove to be a challenging endeavor, requiring a delicate balance between showcasing your individuality and adhering to the specific guidelines set by the university. The difficulty lies in articulating your experiences, aspirations, and personal qualities in a way that not only captures the attention of the admissions committee but also aligns seamlessly with BYU's values. First and foremost, understanding the core values of Brigham Young University (BYU) is crucial. The essay should reflect a deep appreciation for these values and illustrate how your own beliefs and character align with the university's mission. This necessitates extensive research into the institution's principles and a thoughtful exploration of how you embody those principles. Moreover, the challenge lies in avoiding clichГ©s and generic statements that fail to distinguish you from other applicants. The admissions committee sifts through numerous essays, making it imperative to present a narrative that is both unique and compelling. Expressing your individuality while staying within the prescribed word limit requires careful consideration of every word and phrase. The process demands introspection, self-awareness, and the ability to articulate your thoughts effectively. Juggling between personal experiences, academic achievements, and extracurricular involvement can be daunting, as you strive to present a comprehensive picture of yourself within the confines of the essay. Additionally, perfecting the tone and language is a critical aspect. Striking the right balance between confidence and humility, passion and restraint, can be a formidable task. Ensuring clarity and coherence while maintaining a captivating writing style adds another layer of complexity. In conclusion, crafting a compelling essay for the BYU application requires meticulous planning, thorough research, and a keen understanding of both personal and university values. It is a process that demands creativity, self-reflection, and the ability to effectively communicate your unique qualities. While challenging, successfully navigating this task can significantly enhance your chances of securing admission to BYU. • 2. Integrated Co Teaching And Its Effects On Middle School... Integrated Co Teaching and its effects on Middle School Students Integrated Co Teaching, also known as ICT, is an educational setting where students with disabilities learn alongside general education students. The ICT setting provides students the support of a special education teacher within the general education classroom. The goal of integrated co teaching is to ensure that students with disabilities master grade level skills and concepts, while having their special education needs met. In addition to mastering skills and concepts, having ICT classrooms allows students with disabilities to remain with their age appropriate peers and learn in an environment that is least restrictive. There have been many debates on whether or not integrated co teaching has positive or negative effects for students with and without disabilities. The concerns are either academic and social benefits or setbacks. There has been quite a bit of research to show that integrated co teaching has positive outcomes for both general education students and students with disabilities. One factor that plays a huge role in successful implementation of integrated co teaching and has better outcomes for students is when the co teachers are trained and work together. Magiera and Zigmond (2005) preformed a study at four middle schools in New York that focused on the instructional practices for students with and without disabilities; with teachers who were not trained in integrated co teaching
  • 3. Rhetorical Analysis Of Lucas s The Art Of Public Speaking Lisa, head publisher of a rising publishing firm company. She starts her day by speaking to her publicity team on some new marketing strategies. Lisa then spends time on the phone talking with all of the editors she represents. At a lunch meeting Lisa talks to the executive board on a couple of manuscripts she has been championing. Would one think that Lisa is a public speaker? Most people would say no, but after reading Stephen Lucas the Art of Public Speaking, I have learned that Lisa is a public speaker and is using her public speaking skills to inform her coworkers. Chapter 15 is about speaking to inform an audience. Lucas begins this chapter with the types of informative speeches and some analysis and organization skills for each topic. There are many ways to classify an informative speech, Lucas breaks it down into four main topics: objects, processes, events, and concepts. Lucas begins this chapter by speaking on speeches about objects. Lucas defines an object as Objects include anything that is visible, tangible, and stable to form. ... Here are examples of subjects for speeches about objects e book readers, Susan B. Anthony, service dogs, titanium, human eye and Golden Gate Bridge (Lucas, 2012, pg. 278.). Lucas reminds us that whatever subject a speaker will pick they must know that they will not be able to tell everything on the subject. To instead pick the most important ideas the speaker wants to get across and use those to develop a main point. Next Lucas shows
  • 4. The Witch Craze Of The Sixteenth And Seventeenth Centuries Gender, race, age, and ability have been used to shape the history and our understanding of human sexuality, as well as how certain groups, specifically marginalized groups, were seen as degenerate or delinquent people. When examining why and how specific groups of people were though of as being sexual delinquents, it is important to use an intersectional lens, and consider how these different categories and identities of gender, race, age, and ability work together to form experiences and opinions. By marginalizing, controlling, and regulating the sexualities and bodies of those who were women, people of colour, adolescents, or differentially abled, the social norm of a white, heterosexual, patriarchy has been enforced through history. Throughout the history of humankind, women s bodies and sexualityhave been critiqued, chastised, and judged by society. During the witch craze of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, many women were accused of being evil beings. Over 60,000 women were wrongfully executed by their accusers . It was believed that woman who were midwives, challenged male authority, or were sexually promiscuous and given themselves to Satin and were now evil and immoral beings. The more feminine senses, touch, smell, and taste were often associated with being a witch . By accusing women who were sexual agents or who were associated with women s bodies or sexuality (such as midwives) of being evil and executing them, men were able to use gender to

Their main city was tenochtitlan , in a geological basin of modern day central Mexico. Two things the Aztec culture is known for are their complex farming methods and their somewhat disturbing religious beliefs. However historians should emphasize the role of agriculture in the Azteccivilization . The Aztecs farming methods helped them expand their territory and empire. Document A shows that the Aztec empire grew to more than 200 miles west to east and north to south . As the empire started growing , the Aztecs needed a efficient method of farming . This means that the growth of the empire meant that the population also grew and since they had an effective

The story line can be cut briefly to a crazed scientist (Victor Frankenstein) thinking he can play God . He tries to bring a creation to life and once succeeding he realises the terrible mistake he has made and sets about trying to correct it by murdering it. The Monster sets out for revenge killing family members one by one, ending with them both dying in ice covered mountains. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a form of expressionism, of how Branagh has created this movie from the adaptation of a novel and managed to make it very powerful emotionally to the viewer. The class structure of the film plays a big part in the story line, from Victor being at the top of the upper class scale then coming down to the middle class such as the Nanny working for Victor s family and then ending right down towards the lower class, the poverty of the working people in the town. Throughout the story Victor and the Monster are both shown to be outsiders. Victor began to get ideas in his head about being able to create a new life, starting to hide himself in his lab for weeks on end studying and experimenting. He begins to lose touch with the outside world and becomes extremely isolated. I think the Monster becomes alienated from the moment it is created. It breaks out of the lab, which is ironic as Victor tries to lock himself in the lab, and roams the disease ridden streets. He is exposed in the town and the townspeople immediately try to rid him from the town by chasing him and using physical violence towards the Monster. The Monster fleas the town, actually wanting to exclude himself from the outside world because of the way he looks and
  • 9. Olan The Virtuous Woman Essay Olan or the Virtuous Woman, same person? Relatively close? Or just complete opposites? Throughout the novel, The Good Earth Olan a slave woman with unbound feet is wedded to Wang Lung a poor crop farmer. She carries weight on her shoulders and works her hardest even in times of struggle. Olan does not go down easy, she s a worker and will not quit till the job done. So is Olan the Virtuous Woman? Well of course she is, the closest thing to it! The Virtuous Woman is a person who is worth far more than jewels and money, their worth is meaningful through their love, care, respect, and hard work. They give their husbands a full heart and show them that they need no spoiling for they are content and happy with the life they are provided and are willing to put forth the same effort as the other does. Olan is a perfect example of such a woman for she does more than she is asked by pushing herself to the limits to provide her husband and show that she is willing to be right there by his side... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Olan portrays these qualities greatly throughout the novel, even when she should not. For example Olan is proud of the person she is and love s her life very much, she values what she has, such as the land Lung was going to sell and she told him not too, that their family would be fine. On the other hand, Wang Lung involves himself with another woman named Lotus. Olan should be furious with this and unkind, but she is not, she allows it to happen and continues to love and cherish her husband, provide for him and work hard while ignoring it all. Olan may be the Virtuous Woman but her husband takes advantage of this amazing blessing by not giving to her what she has given to him, a loving, caring
  • 10. College Essay On Maternity Leave Maternity leave has not always been available to new parents in the United States. Only thirteen states provided time off work to care for a new baby while holding secure their job and its benefits up until 1993 (Rossin 2011). Typically, the employer is responsible for implementing a maternity leave policy, other than the government mandated policy of the Family and Medical LeaveAct (Berger, Hill, Waldfogel, 2005). Certain states have enacted their own laws regarding maternityleave policies. Of these state policies, some are as short as 4 weeks (Berger, et al., 2005). This University has several branch campuses including Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne (IPFW), located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This university has an excellent parental leave policy. Their policy encompasses not only the mothers, but also the fathers. This gives fathers an opportunity to bond with their new baby, as well. Their policy also includes adoptive parents. According to the policy (2011), the reason it is in place is to provide new parents, whether they be birth parents or adoptive parents, an opportunity to bond with their new child and adjust to their new life while trying to figure out their professional duties at work. One statement found in the policy is especially significant in the changing work family situation. This is critical because institutions are finding that a work culture that allows faculty and staff to balance the demands of the workplace with the demands of personal or family life is becoming increasingly important. The policy states that, as the workplace continues to change, so must the policies that belong to the company. Family friendly workforce policies are essential (Purdue

I will wake up at exactly 6:00 am when my alarm goes off, get out of bed, and note the date, time, and whether or not I accomplished the task successfully. However, this time the number of times and star stickers that indicate I successfully accomplish this task will matter more. If I successfully wake up at 6:00 am during each weekday session (five days in a row), I will reward myself by going to see a movie on the weekend. If I wake up on time only 4 out of the five weekday sessions, then I will reward myself with watching one movie on Netflix during the weekend. Going to the movies and watching a movie on Netflix will be positive reinforcement. If I fail to wake up on time for three days in a row during a specific conditioning week, then I will not watch any movie at all. Furthermore, I will not allow myself to access Netflix. This will be a negative punishment. Ultimately, the desired behavior of waking up at 6:00 am weekday mornings will be positively reinforced by the reward of getting to watch a movie on the weekend. • 15. Grading Is A Standardized System GRADE CALCULATOR Grading is a standardized system in an area, region, town or country that is used to rank school going children depending on their efforts and results at school. The grading system can be expressed in four primary ways. It can either be in terms of letters whereby different letters represent one s performance and these letters are assigned numeric values. For example, the best letter grade is an A with a numeric value of 4 while the worst grade is F with a numeric value of 0. It can also be represented in terms of a percentage of all the rightly answered questions in a test; for example a score of 60% in mathematics. It can also be expressed as a value out of the total; for example scoring 7/10 in an English continuous assessment test or it can be expressed as a range; for example 1 to 6. All the above are ways for ranking students but at the end of the day, every school has its own preference. The fact that schools use different grading systems, it also poses some difficulties in the education systems because of the fact that grades keep inflating. This means that the works that would have received lower grades in the past are now being awarded with higher grades. Grades inflation causes problems like: It makes it nearly impossible to compare students who did their exams at different time intervals. This is primarily because as at the moment, higher grades are being awarded for the same work. The grades are not uniform among the various disciplines that
  • 16. Canadian Literature in Grade 12 Change is a critical part of life. It is evident all around us, especially in the things we learn. The knowledge available to us in the modern day is dynamic; it is constantly changing, developing, and providing new points of view. Science and mathematics curriculums in Ontario high school reflect the evolution of knowledge; they are edited and adjusted regularly to accommodate new material that should be presented to students. Shouldn t other subject curriculums, specifically English, be just as dynamic? It often feels like English curriculums in Ontario high schools are static; the same books are studied by class after class, generation after generation. The time has come for change. Ontario students should be exposed to new literature, particularly Canadian literature. Students need this exposure to Canadian literature to become more familiar with the literature of their country; through literature, we are able to focus on our Canadian culture while being surrounded by other cultures, we promote new, younger authors, and we become aware of the mosaic that is Canadian culture. Exposing high schoolstudents in Ontario to more Canadian literature would allow them to develop a deeper appreciation for the Canadian culture, especially when they are surrounded by other cultural influences. Incorporating Canadian culture more extensively would create a learning environment where Canadian culture is studied in depth, allowing students to appreciate its variety and complexity.

Shylock s Tragedy And Its Toll On Romantic Comedy Shylock s Tragedy and its Toll on Romantic Comedy The inclusion of Shylock in The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare adds a complexity not typically found in romantic comedy. Shakespeare could have made Shylock s role a light mockery of anti Semitism, or something to that effect, but instead he chose to create a tragedy at the center of romance and comedy. This makes for a play, which does not fit neatly into an assigned genre. Shylocks language in this passage, reveals several things, not only about the play, but also the other characters. Through Shylock, the hypocrisy of the Christians is revealed. Shylock flips this romantic comedy on its head, and turns it into something more significant. Pauses and repetitions give... Intentional pauses indicate Shakespeare s intention for an emotional reading of Shylock. Pauses and repetition in this particular moment in the play suggest Shylock is at a loss for words, and caught up in his grief: The curse / never fell upon our nation until now I never felt it / till now (3.1.78 80). Jessica s choice to join her father s persecutors is cruel. He pauses after this statement, perhaps because Jessica s betrayal is the worst type of betrayal against her heritage, and against him. She causes Shylock, who has always had a hard exterior in spite of oppression and abuse, to feel the pain of his persecution. This realization deserves pause, not only for Shylock, but also the audience. For Jessica to leave her father, in this particular way, brings the mistreatment and pain of an entire nation to Shylock. Because his motivations seem somewhat convoluted at times, by greed and revenge, these moments of intentional pause allow the audience time to realize the magnitude of Shylock s sorrow, and perhaps his true motivation. The repetition in his language, demonstrates a shift in tone, from concise angry Shylock, to repetitive sad Shylock. Repetition is used throughout the play for various dramatic effects. For example, in act three, scene three Antonio

This aspect increased maritime trade thus increasing the Gross Domestic Product of nations. Since its inception, the concept of insurance has been revolutionized and is comprehensive enough to cater for a wide array of risks: man made or natural risks (Westall 2002 p 95). Every insurance company must as a prerequisite employ financial risk advisors. The financial risk advisors herein are referred to as actuaries. They serve the function of assessing the risk of a particular policy and prescribing the amount of premium payable as well as determining the financial viability of any policy. In doing so, the financial risk advisors base their opinions on the historical information available. There are two types of risks; manmade and natural disaster. Man made risks as is ostensible, is derivative of man s actions. They include, though not limited to, automobile or fire risks. Such risks are highly frequent and less severe; in respect to the insurer. Consequent to this, a proliferation of information is readily available to estimate the likelihood of prospective loss. On the other hand, natural risks are derivative of nature. They are less frequent and very severe. Subsequently, information on the likelihood of loss and occurrence is minimal. This aspect makes it very difficult to cover natural disasters. Be that as it may, as will be elaborated, the advent of science and technology has generated a

Downfall of Macbeth The tragedy of Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, follows the fall of Macbeth from a man in a position of power with a contented life, to a man with nothing but mouth honor and a corrupted soul. In this essay, I wish to show to what extent Macbeth s tragedy was his own fault. The downfall of Macbeth begins early on in the play when he and Banquo (a fellow Scottish noble) meet the witches. The witches waylay Macbeth and Banquo whilst they were on their way to meet Duncan, King of Scotland. They decide to listen to the witches, out of sheer curiosity. The three witches greet Macbeth as Thane of Glamis , the title he already holds, and begin to tell the two nobles of things to come, and prophesies that Macbeth will become Thane of ... Although unsure, he will not totally dismiss the idea, and is even considering it. Lady Macbeth now knows that she has him within her grasp, and she will now make sure that she wins him completely over. In my opinion, not making his mind up creates a chance for Lady Macbeth. She sees this uncertainty and later exploits his unwillingness to make decisions. A short while later, Duncan arrives, accompanied by all of his Thanes. They all feast, and drink to the success of the battle against Norway. As the night wears on, Macbeth has to time to contemplate the consequences of killing Duncan. Macbeth makes the moral decision not to proceed saying; We will proceed no further in this business. He (Duncan) hath honoured me of late, and I have bought golden opinions from all sorts of people, which would be worn now in the newest gloss, not cast aside so soon . Macbeth attempts to give excuse for not proceeding, but fails to give any proper reasons for it. In many clubs, the underground days of clubbing past have been replaced with the homogenized superclubs of the present: gigantic, multi floored venues attracting thousands to listen to the music makers spin. Promoters and planners such as gay circuit guru John Blair offer free membership cards and litter the streets with flyers offering discounts when shown at the door. In the world of the superclub, capitalism and profits shape dance culture. With the popularizing of club culture has come an equal mainstreaming of its components. As Fiona Buckland discusses in her book Impossible Dance: Club Culture and Queer World Making, the music of today s clubs such as garage, hard house and Hi NRG imply a historical continuity with gay parties of the 1970s with deep roots in disco (2002, p. 67). Gay and black influences were a basic part of disco music, explored in Bernard Weinraub s article Here s to Disco, It Never Could Say Goodbye. The heritage that once put the music at odds with the more straight white male sensibility of the contemporary rock music of the era (Weinraub, 2002) is today a basic piece of the dance scene for straight and gay audiences alike. It can be seen that if the interest rate rises then the price of such fixed return bonds fall, making bonds less attractive proposition to investors than money. When the price of such fixed return bond rises, then they are more attractive for an investor than money. Some investors will expect the rate of interest to rise, while others will expect it to fall. When the rate of interest is realised to be unduly high by individuals, most will assume that the next move is in a downward direction. When the rate of interest falls, the price of bonds increases and so there are capital gains to be made. When the rate of interest is high there will be a substantial demand for bonds and hence a low speculative demand to hold money. If, however, the rate of interest is perceived to be unduly low then most individuals will assume that the next move is upwards, resulting in a fall in bond prices and, therefore, a capital loss for those who own bonds. The speculative demand for money to hold will be high when people owing bonds are looking to sell them before the price falls. This is a speculative demand (SD) for money. A fall in the rate of interest from r1 to r2 leads to an expansion in the speculative demand for money. At a low rate of interest r3, the speculative demand for money is perfectly elastic. It is made up of cells called neurons and special cells called glial cells (or neuroglia). Neurons produce responses by generating action potentials. Action potentials are formed when graded potentials are summated at the initial segment (integrating center) of a neuroncell body. The action potential then propogates through the axon. • 37. Core Values In Social Work Values Paper My decision to become a social worker was no surprise to my family and friends. I have always loved to encourage, build up, and help people in times of need; regardless if it was shelter, food, or a friend to talk too. After reviewing the NASW Code of Ethics, it is simple to understand that my core values align with becoming and being a future professional social worker. As I ponder through the idea of how I accumulated my core values, it is quite simple to trace them back to the way I was raised by my parents. The number one code listed by the NASW is service. Social workers are expected to take their knowledge and mold and adapt to their client s situation. These professionals are mentors, providers, and in many cases, individuals last chances to get their life together. Their service is dependable and trustworthy, as they are supporting their clients by pointing them in the right direction. I like to believe I can adapt well to my surrounds, as well as others. My parents raised me to guide and understand while lending out a helping hand. Service is a major aspect of social work as it is my life. Volunteering at various organizations as a child has taught me that by just giving my time and kindness can make someone s day, week, or even their year. Social justice is what social workers are known for pursuing in their profession. It encircles a broad aspect of social issues ranging from socioeconomic issues, discrimination, and unemployment. As a social worker

Although Dunstan Ramsay and Percy Boyd Staunton are parallels to each other, they contrast in a great number of ways. Their awkward relationship plays a significant role in the number of elements which make Fifth Business such an interesting story. amp;#9;While Dunstan Ramsay had never been too interested in competing with Percy Boyd Staunton, Percy from a young age saw Dunny as a rival. (Page 114) Dunstan is in a search for inner truth and spirituality, and Percy is searching for outer beauty and appearances. amp;#9;Another way in which the two contrast is that while Dunstan leaves a lot of events in his life up to chance, Percy wants everyone, and everything in control in his control. When Percy wants Dunstan to develop some nude pictures of Leola, Dunstan makes the comparison of himself and Percy to the myth of King Candaules and Gyges. There were two possible endings to the myth one being that Percy would lose Leola to Dunstan. This is shown when Leola later tries to seduce Dunstan at a Christmas party. amp;#9;Although Dunstan and Percy are very much opposites throughout the novel, there is one area in which they are both the same neither one of them is able to form warm, lasting human relationships. At the beginning of their marriage, Percy is unable to be faithful to Leola, but claims that since he quot;still loves her, the encounters with the other ladies didn t really count. quot; Percy is still unable to be faithful to Leola later on in their marriage, due to his failing efforts to bring up to quot;his standards quot;. After becoming the next receiver he starts to realize that his perfect world isn t so perfect after all. The Giver by Lois Lowry, explains how a Utopian world would really be. The most important differences between Utopian Society in The Giver and dystopian society are Rituals, Assignments, and Families. Jonas s society has many rituals some of them are the telling of feelings and dream telling. Telling of feeling is when your familyunit sits down at dinner and shares there feelings about the day and say if anything is bothering them. • 40. The Field Of Sport Management Comparatively, the field of sport management is a rather new academic discipline (Chalip, 2006), which has faced some challenges in terms of justifying its prominence in the academic world. Nonetheless, Chalip (2006) believes it was an unavoidable course for the evolution of sport management. Mullin (1980) defined the sportmanager as follows: A person whose job entails planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling to be performed within the context of an organisation whose primary product or service is sport, or sport related (p3). The term management has been defined in many different ways through research as it continues to evolve across various industries. Although, Donnelly, Gibson and Ivancevich (1992) described it as ... Areas such as recreational sporting programs, corporate sponsored events, sporting news media and sporting goods have been established within the professional realm of sport as well. It is evident that as the sport industry grew and evolved, it progressively took on the business attributes of other industries (Masteralexis, Barr Hums, 2014). Despite similar business industry characteristics, the sport industry has a unique management, business and legal practice, unique to all other industries. Furthermore, what makes this industry so unique is the organisational structures that are in place in order to manage, govern and organise sport. Masteralexis et. al (2014) identified three main management structures of sport; clubs, leagues and tournaments which are used to manage and organise sport. These management systems encompass a range of amateur and professional organisations that may apply variations to these structures for the purpose of producing a sporting event. For instance, American college sports such as basketball, baseball, track and field, are structured under the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) as an amateur governing body, but are televised across the United States and structured
  • 41. Locke Vs Rousseau John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau are great political philosophers that have many similar insights about society and its political form. However, when closely examining the writings of these thinkers, one can easily discover many subtle differences among them. The two philosophers base their theories on different assumptions, which subsequently lead to dissimilar ideas about the origin of society and the constitution of governments. As a result, their views of the development of society greatly dissent from each other. Locke s and Rousseau s different versions in the development of society cause them to reach disparate conclusions concerning the legislative power, social unit, and revolution rights of the society. Locke believes that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Locke indicates that, by giving up some of one s rights, the state gains legislative power and is obliged to use this power to make laws that benefit the people, who hired it. Locke writes that, This legislative is not only the supreme power of the common wealth, but sacred and unalterable in the hands where the community have once placed it...over whom no body can have a power to make laws, but by their own consent, and by authority received from them. (XI 134) Rousseau argues that the state should not be able to acquire legislative power, but simply acts as an executive. He claims that the legislative power comes from the people, for the sovereign is simply the general will of everyone, in which the state should obey and enforce. Rousseau states that, Each of us puts his person and all his power in common under the supreme control of the general will, and, as a body, we receive each member as an indivisible part of the whole ( ), showing that the aggregate mind of the people, the general will, has the legislative power as all powers are given to it. Locke stresses individualism in a society, while Rousseau bases the majority of his political theory on the submission to the general will, which is a collective unit. Locke emphasizes that in a society, one should still preserve life, liberty, and property. He claims that instead of being one
  • 42. Why US Consumers Buy Foreign Goods For the first time in many years, ordinary people in the US are worrying about the economic future of the country. The underlying reason for this worry is a realization that the secret perpetual motion engine of the economy has run short of what you might call fuel , for want of a better word. Here are the key steps in this critical cycle in the economic life of the nation: 1. US consumers buy foreign goods 2. Part of the profit from these sales is invested in additional foreign goods to be sold to US consumers and the remainder is invested in US financial institutions 3. The financial institutions lend the dollars to US consumers 4. US consumers buy foreign goods (that is, we return to step 1) This is a positive feedback loop. If... On one side, we have those who vehemently criticize credit cards as the modern evil that has brought financial ruin to so many Americans. At the other extreme, we have those who see credit cards necessary instruments for establishing and improving one s credit history and for learning financial restraint ( Credit cards, n.d.). So, which side is correct? Do credit cards spell financial doom or are they a useful and valuable tool in our society today? In order for us to honestly answer these questions, we must fully understand the advantages and disadvantages of credit cards. First, think about some of the possible advantages of having credit cards. The first thing that comes to my mind is convenience. Credit cards are so tiny that they can easily fit in your pocket. Also, most places readily take credit cards these days. And we cannot forget that credit cards can minimize our need to count money at the cash register or to wait to buy that must have product until we get our next paycheck. Therefore, it is accurate to say that credit cards are relatively convenient to carry and use ( Credit cards, n.d., Pros section). Moreover, credit cards are accepted in quite a number of foreign nations, making traveling or online purchases a whole lot simpler. Credit cards also give you much more peace
