It was estimated that 40 percent of the requested files were these no hit files requiring a search. Often
these no hit files were eventually found stacked in the requester‟s office. The primary customers of
the file clerks were underwriters and claims attorneys.
Underwriting
Company management and operations analysts were consistently told that the greatest problem in the
company was the inability of file clerks to supply files in a speedy fashion. The entire company from
top to bottom viewed the productivity and effectiveness of the department as unacceptable. An
underwriter used
20 50 files per day. Because of their distrust of the files department, underwriters tended to hoard
often used files. A count by operations analysts found that each underwriter kept from 100 200 files in
his or her office at any one time. An underwriter would request a file by computer and work on other
business until the file was received. Benson employed 25 underwriters.
Management Information System
Upper management was deeply concerned about this problem. The MIS department had suggested
using video disks as a possible solution. A video disk system was found that would be sufficient for
the companies needs at a cost of about $12 million. It was estimated that the system would take two
years to install and make compatible with existing information systems. Another, less attractive was
using microfilm. A microfilm system would require underwriters to go to a single

ERP Paper
Introduction
The research will be based on ERP systems Web Distributed Business Solutions. This report will
discuss the concept, architecture, process and application of the system solution. There will also be
examples given on how industrial businesses implement this technology into their daily operations and
how it has benefitted them.
Concept
ERP stands for Enterprise Resource Planning. ERP is one complete system to rationalise processes
and data across the whole organisation, so business decisions can be data driven. The perception of
ERP is a joint database that supports numerous purposes used by different business elements which in
practice this means that staffs in different departments for example, accounting and sales can ... Show

however, Legacy ERP vendors are starting to use cloud based services to perform some functions of
ERP, mainly those who depend on by mobile users. Cloud based ERP modules are built to be loosely
joined, which can reduce the cost and difficulty of a Deployment. Currently some businesses are using
hybrid cloud deployments in which part of the ERP software suite runs on premises and the other part
runs on the cloud. The advantage of using SaaS ERP is that the system could start running, automatic
upgrades and as well as reduction in hardware and support expenses. (SearchERP, 2017) (CompuData,
2017)
The most common ERP deployment used is either on premises or cloud based, which is a standard
huge system from one vendor, generally a large legacy vendor. Though there are many organisations
now that run multiple ERP systems under one environment, generally known as the two tier or multi
tier ERP. The reason behind is that it includes geographic variances in the organisation. (SearchERP,
2017)
ERP has few software deployments modules that are used within an organisation which can be
integrated easily with other systems that the organisation uses. Below is the detailed list of core
modules that are in many ERP software s.

Federal Grant Money Creates An Interest Essay
Introduction Federal grant money creates an interest in the property it is used to purchase and/or
improve. Westmoreland Human Opportunities, Inc. v. Walsh, 246 F.3d 233 (2001); In re Joliet Will
Cty. Cmty. Action Agency, 847 F.2d 430 (1988); Henry v. First Nat. Bank of Clarksdale, 595 F.2d 291
(1979). An agency s claim to an interest in property after the trustee has gone bankrupt or lost the
mortgage is recognized by the courts, but may vary based on the terms of the grant. The less discretion
the grantee has to spend the funds from a grant the stronger the Governments interest claim. Courts
will enforce a federal interest in a property, even when it is not recorded and if a federal agency is
found to hold a legitimate interest in the property than sovereign immunity is applied and it is immune
from attachments. See E.g., Wilcox v. Jackson ex dem. McConnel, 38 U.S. 498, 516 17 (1839);
Westmoreland Human Opportunities, Inc. v. Walsh, 246 F.3d 233, 239 42 (2001).
Background
The type of claim the government can make on property procured or improved with grant money
depends on the nature of the grant. If the language of the grant treats the grantee as an intermediary,
the assets purchased were never the theirs, cannot be liquidated in bankruptcy and, therefore, remain
the property of the government. In re Joliet Will Cty. at 432. However, if the grant is set up like a
contract for a performance that was never delivered on the government would not retain the property

Historically Black Colleges And Universities Essay
Historically Black Colleges and Universities, or HBCUs, have played an important role in enriching
the lives of not just African Americans, but our entire country. (Keller) What Ric Keller states here is
an opinion that outlines a compelling fact about HBCUs that along with several other significant
information that may come as a surprise. Essentially, the great debate between the choice of whether a
Historically Black College and University or Predominantly White Institution is more beneficial or not
can become a pondering interrogation. Each acronym defines itself, Historically Black Colleges and
Universities(HBCUs) were established by the means of providing an education for predominantly
African American students. Whereas, Predominantly White Intuitions(PWI) serve to instruct and
educated the opposite or in other words those of Caucasian descent. HBCUs are institutions that were
founded before 1964 where most were developed after the Civil War and are usually located in the
former slave states with a small amount of notable exceptions. Today in the United States, there are
107 HBCUs this includes public and private institutions, medical and law schools. Even though a PWI
does not discriminate other races in admissions what it can provide for an African American versus the
African Americans that attend HBCUs is a drastic difference. HBCUs should be considered over PWIs
because it allows African Americans to comfortably steer away from racism, African American

Schema Theory And The Schema Theory
Schema theory
Humans live and operate by using past experiences, which enables them to think in the present and
about the future. Why is it that the past still plays an important role in everyday lives and is not
forgotten? The answer is allegedly because of memory. Mental representations are how we store
images in our memory, what we already know affects the way we define events and store knowledge.
The structures and processes involved in the storage and retrieval of information comes in the three
stages; encoding, storage and recovery. The way the mind process memory is influenced by the
schema theory as cognitive theory about information processing. The term schema was introduced my
Piaget and this idea was later brought back into psychology and education by Bartlett. Schema theory
proposes that what we already know influences the outcome of information processing. Piaget had
three factors to the cognitive theory and the schema theory happened to be one of them. He described
the schema as a cohesive, repeatable action sequence possessing component actions that are tightly
interconnected and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Allport and Postman (1947) aim was to see if schemas helped in recollection. Caucasian and African
American Americans were used for this study. The Caucasian participants were shown a picture of a
poorly dressed, unshaven white man holding a cutthroat razor to a well dressed African American
man. The Caucasian participant then described the image to someone else. Vice versa for the African
American participant. The findings of this showed the Caucasian participants changed the story the
criminal in the picture became the African American while the African American had more accurate
observations. This demonstrated the racist schema theory that was common in the 1900 s. Which
caused their memory to distort and make the African American the bad person in the

Illegal Immigration to the U.S. Essay
Illegal Immigration in the States
Works Cited Not Included
Cynthia Tucker, an editor for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, published an article on the issue of the
illegal immigration to the United States in October 2005, in which she argues that illegal immigration
is one of the serious issues like crime, poverty, and terrorism which demands wise leaders who can
solve this issue. She criticizes Tom Tancredo; a Republican congressional representative from
Colorado, for promoting a legislation which she claims minimizes the rights of illegal immigrants. In
her argument, she does not take into consideration the side effects on U.S society of illegal
immigration and she ignores the cost of illegal immigration. For example, there is ... Show more

Tucker does not just criticize Tancredo s argument, but she also attacks Tancredo himself. This ad
hominem claim weakens her argument because she does not criticize or discuss the legislation itself;
in fact, she does not even mention the name of the illegalization. Her main concern is to attack Tom
Tancredo and compare him with Joseph McCarthy the infamous American politician of the 1950 s
who used his position as chairperson of the Committee on Government Operations to launch
investigations designed to document charges of Communists in government ( Joseph McCarthy ). In
other words, instead of researching the substance of the legislation, she only tries to compare Tancredo
with Joseph McCarthy.
There are many false claims in Tucker s argument; for instance, she says that If Tancredo and his
coalition were genuinely interested in restricting illegal immigration, they would target businesses
construction companies, etc. The truth is that Tancredo s legislation will imprison employers who
repeatedly hire undocumented workers for a minimum of a year and fine them up to $25,000(

Marketing James Patterson Books
Executive Summary:
Over the last decade James Patterson has published an unprecedented number of best selling books,
cemented a powerful brand image amongst a loyal following, and redefined the process by which
authors create content to meet reader demand. From November 2000 through June 2003, Patterson
had cumulative sales of over six million dollars, trailing only John Grisham during that time frame. He
has generated the majority of his sales through a loyal readership that consistently lines up to buy his
next installment. Keenly aware of this dedicated following, Patterson successfully sought to augment
the proliferation of his titles with co authors familiar with his brand that could share the workload,
creating a virtual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With an exclusive pre release to a carefully pre determined list of customers, Patterson would instead
be proactively creating a buzz, and potentially, a blockbuster.
In terms of channel management, this pre release should satisfy all members of the channel. Certainly,
the book clubs would embrace the idea of being able to market an exclusive release of a Patterson
novel, and with exclusive rights, should be able to retain club members for longer commitments. More
importantly, this would not have to come at the expense of the retail chains because club members
generally would buy books through the club channel anyways. The retail stores, instead, could benefit
from the buzz created by club members, as non club members may now be clamoring to buy the book
their friends have already been talking about as soon as it is released in stores. A true blockbuster
would increase the size of the pie for all channel members.
Channel (2001): Strategic Resources:
Patterson:
• Brand name: dominant in crime fiction genre
• Many titles: 3 per year vs. 1 for Clancy, Cornwell
• Cliffhanger endings leave Patterson readers eager for next installment
• Marketing Expertise: Patterson former Chairman of J. Walter Thompson
Badge Authors:
• Name recognition: 90% and 84% for Grisham and Clancy (Patterson 54%)
• Broader range of readers

¨The Undercover Parent¨ (March 16, 2008) is a news article written by Harlan Coben that claims

Research Study On Data Collection Methods
Data Collection Methods This research study would use paper and pencil method, an achievement
test. The participants would be taking a progress monitoring test. This type of method is appropriate
for the study because it gives accurate data about student s abilities before the start of the research
study. It is also used at the end of the study for the scores can be compared between each class and
initial scores.
Instruments
First off, the students would take a progress monitoring test. The test would be a reading progress
monitoring test to determine where the students are at before the research experiment and again at the
end of the experiment. The test is called R CBM. The R CBM is a one minute test that requires the
student to read aloud. The test consists of three passages. The student will read three one minute
passages and the median score is taken. Based on the students reading level, and grade level is how
the teacher will know what the student will read. Special education teachers are given district progress
monitoring binders that contain different passages for reading levels and grade levels. The type of data
would be interval data. The type of data would be interval because it measures cognitive ability. A
progress monitoring test would be like an achievement test because it measures a student s current
proficiency. It provides information about what the student has learned.
Procedure of Test
The researcher would tell the two special education teachers to

Texas pacific Group (TPG) should sell J. Crew and recover its original investment. TPG should take

Crew continued to underperform in back to school sales and holiday sales, which led to a net loss in

restructuring needed to turn around the company, which is similar to one of its other investments,
Favorite Brands. This investment cost TPG $100 million when it went bankrupt, which is why TPG
should sell J. Crew. Learning from past mistakes is crucial and J. Crew seems to be heading in the
same direction. Turning around the company is a possibility, but when analyzing J. crew s cash flow it
is unlikely the company will be able to cover its debt. Selling J. Crew is the best choice to avoid the
risk of losing all of its investment and knowing when to cut your losses is important. Overall, the
industry itself is volatile and the investment was too great of a risk. TPG piled financial risk on top of
operating risk. Top line growth was still an issue and the industry makes it hard to

Investment After reviewing Melissa Bennet s client profile, numerous financial indicators may be
observed which are relevant when considering investment options. Firstly, Bennet receives a
consistent wage, proving she is not a risk to loaning institutions and that she can make accurate
predictions regarding her future investments. This signifies a level of financial stability rarely obtained
by a 24 year old. Additionally, the bequeathment ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When investing in a term deposit, the individual must invest a minimum of $5000. This sum of money
can be kept in a term deposit for as little as 1 month or as long as 5 years. A term deposit has a low
rate of risk, so the invested money is guaranteed to earn interest over a period of time. However, since
it is a fixed rate, investment returns are likely to be minimal. This negative is counterbalanced by the
absolute security of this investment contract. Returns will be comparable to those from non fixed rates
depending on the economic environment. Additionally, this investment is a suitable option for young
people as it allows them to redraw the money after the maturity date. With the expenses that typically
arise when starting a home or family, it is likely that the ability to access this fund after the investment
has ceased would provide a major financial benefit. This money cannot be accessed throughout the
investment period, ensuring that the sum cannot be spent. Interest on a term deposit is compounded
every 4 weeks, 6 months or yearly, depending on the preference of the individual. The individual must
also decide on a plan for interest returns, which can either be deposited into a personal bank account
or added to the rem deposit sum. This latter option is financially preferable, as the larger the funds in
the deposit, the greater the interest returns. 2.3 Aggressive Option Shares

Introduction
Henri Fayol was one of the most influential contributors to modern concepts of management. His
career began as a mining engineer, later moving into research geology for Comambault. The company
was struggling however, Fayol turned the operation round. Upon retiring he published his works a
comprehensive theory of administration.
Personal experience and observation were the basis of his theories in terms of what worked well in

The programme can be regularly updated and taking to meetings to establish what delays have
occurred and what impact the may have on the programme overall.
Co ordination Co ordination is the bringing together of a work force and the activities they are to
perform, in such a manner that they are achieved with maximum efficiency and harmony. It is a
product of the organising function however; it must be achieved throughout the organisations
structure. Here are some of what I would consider to be the most important co ordination activities in
construction: * Ensuring the timeliness of work carried out * Maintaining records of all drawings
information, verbal instructions, directives and documents received from both clients and consultants
* Managing the quality of work * Liaising with clients and consultants * Identifying delays and
strategic activities
Communication The goal of communication is to convey information and the understanding of that
information, from one person or group to another person or group. The efficiency and effectiveness of
the construction process depend heavily on the quality of communication. Throughout the
construction process the people involved can communicate via email, word of mouth, drawings,
written instruction, specification or

A Humean Theory of Distributive Justice Essay
This paper suggests a strategy for constructing a contemporary Humean theory of distributive justice
which would serve to ground what I call an entrepreneurial welfare state. It is argued that blending
David Hume s insights about the origins and purposes of justice with Ronald Dworkin s insurance
based reasoning supporting his equality of resources model of distributive justice will yield a state
which, as a matter of justice, encourages its members to engage in entrepreneurial activities and which
protects them from the worst extremes of market economies. Introduction

But humans have survived. How so? Here is what Hume says:
Tis by society alone he is able to supply his defects and raise himself up to an equality with his fellow
creatures, and even acquire a superiority above them. By society all his infirmities are compensated . .
. and . . . leave him in every respect more satisfied and happy, than tis possible for him, in his savage
and solitary condition, ever to become. When every individual person labours a part, and only for
himself, his force is too small to execute any considerable work; his labour being employ d in
supplying all his different necessities, he never attains a perfection in any particular art; and as his
force and success are not at all times equal, the least failure in either of these particulars must be
attended with inevitable ruin and misery. Society provides a remedy for these three inconveniences.
By the conjunction of forces, our power is augmented: By the partition of employments, our ability
encreases; And by mutual succour we are less expos d to fortune and accidents. Tis by this additional
force, ability, and security, that society becomes advantageous.(1)
Wild Uncultivated Sex, or How Society Arises

Spanning nearly three decades just after the Civil War a gothic tale of a tragic figure, Emily Grierson
unravels. A penniless spinster not of her own choosing she is last of the aristo cratic Grierson family
who called the town of Jefferson home nestled in Yoknapatawpha County Mississippi. Unable to

Danny Archer s Blood Diamond
In the beginning of Blood Diamond, the protagonist, Danny Archer, a white South African diamond
smuggler, is a man who cares only for himself. This personality trait makes sense because he has
unfortunately been alone for the majority of his life. His mother and father were both violently killed
when Danny was just nine years old. From then on, he had to learn how to survive on his own, without
anyone to support him, and with that he developed selfish characteristics. When he was a young adult,
he fought in the war, which did not help with his selfishness. This most likely made it worse because
hypothetically people that he got close to were killed in battle. As an adult he lives a life smuggling
diamonds to make money for himself, even though ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

how much Solomon needs to find his family, and it is his first time understanding this because he
never had a family for himself. Danny s objective shifts little by little and he becomes increasingly

spending, which increased by 3.9 percent in 2012, 0.4 percentage points faster than in 2011 (
(Gnadinger, 2014, para. 3). Faster growth was impacted mostly in hospital, physician and clinical
services. To offset this acceleration was a slower growh in spending for perscription drugs and nursing

spending grew faster in 2012 than in 2011, but growth in private health insurance and Medicare
spending was a little slower. The national health spending is still continuing to grow faster then our

in effect, the federal health spending is estimated to increase from 25 percent of total federal spending
to about 40 by 2037 (Marcus, 2012, para. 2).
Is Spending too Much or not Enough There has been an ongoing debate over if there is too much

Innate Knowledge And Plato s Theory Of Knowledge
Theory of knowledge is a yield of doubt. When we seriously we really know anything at all, we innate
lead into test of knowing, in the hope of being capable to discriminate the trustworthy beliefs from
such as are untrustworthy.
Knowledge is the principal intellectual attainment studies of epistemology. Virtually all theorists agree
that true belief is a necessary condition for knowledge, and it was once thought that justification, when
added to true belief, yield a necessary and sufficient condition for knowledge. All of us have an innate
knowledge, concepts, forms, or universals that are an essential and inborn part that compose our mind.
Without this rational knowledge would be impossible. Innate knowledge is a field of epistemology,
which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Since substances must be capable of independent existence, it appears that they cannot be universals
but must be particulars. However, this generated a dilemma since Aristotle also believed that only
knowledge were defined and the object of scientific knowledge ( Introducing Grace Wester Thinker ).
Thus if the substance is knowable, they cannot be particulars. But now it looks as if substance cannot
exist at all since they cannot be either knowledge or particulars. According to Plato, knowledge can be
gained by researching within, but Plato also addressed the common man s potential for achieving
knowledge despite his deficient condition in comparison to the Platonic idea. In the famous allegory
of the cave in the Republic, Plato offers a quite realistic view of the common man as being imprisoned
in a world of becoming. This prisoner takes pictures on the wall for reality. In order to feed from this
illustration, he has to turn around toward truth. The prisoners, however, are not able to turn around
themselves without help from the outside. But when the prisoner have a chance to go outside the cave
he realize that the true image he see in the cave has a true image in reality. Plato believes that one can
achieve real knowledge only if one focuses on the moral

Crucifixion Of Jesus Christ And His Death On The Cross
Crucifixion, the word makes one automatically think of Jesus Christ, and His death on the cross by to
Romans. Even if there is no previous history of Christian faith, the image of Jesus on the cross is still
prominent when thinking of crucifixion. Crucifixion, the definition given by Merriam Webster
dictionary is the crucifying of Jesus. Gerard Sloyan states, Jesus of Nazareth in Galilee died on the
cross at the hands of Roman justice, hundreds of thousands were subjected to the cruel punishment
before and after Him. Yet one is hard pressed to provide the name of another victim of crucifixion (1).

(Sloyan 15). The Romans preferred, those sentenced to crucifixion, be beaten, flogged, and tortured
before their death upon the cross. It weakened the victims to such a degree that their time on the cross
was shortened. (Sloyan 17). There has been some debate over the years as to whether the Romans
used rope or nails to affix victims of crucifixion to the cross, however evidence has been found prove
nails are used. In the 1960 s archaeologists in Jerusalem found remains of around three dozen Jews,
who had died during an uprising against Rome in A.D. 70. The remains of one victim, was found with
a seven inch nail still piercing the feet, with remains of olive wood from the cross still attached.
(Strobel 200 201). This discovery confirmed biblical connects to the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The
medical evidence, though Jesus died long before modern medicine, is still there to support the facts,
that there is no way Jesus could have survived the cross. Even before Jesus made it the cross, there is
evidence Jesus suffered and was tortured before his death.
The Jesus was preparing for his mind for the torture that was to come in the following days, so he was
naturally experiencing a great deal of psychological stress. (Strobel 194). In Luke 22:44 Jesus is
praying on the Mount of Olives, And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was

happens that every time he is on the elevator it starts good with no lady but eventually stops and who

Towards the beginning of the story Martin has thoughts racing left and right through his head. But if
she was only visiting somebody why would she be leaving at 7:30 in the morning? This shows that
Martin isn t only worrying about the elevator and the lady, but he was also worrying about why the
lady was on there everyday at the exact same time? Another thought racing unbalanced through his

insurance at government level. The debate of health insurance to be required by law opens up many

The opposition might be convinced with benefits of health insurance, however, they have objection
over health insurance price being costly. It is not easy to buy health insurance policies due to mountain

towards words of former president Barak Obama who said, People want to have health insurance but
they aren t able to pay high insurance premiums . (Bennett, 1). The opponents believe that instead of
paying high premiums people can make compulsory savings at regular period that they can use rainy
days. People can save a lot by not having health insurance. If they have health insurance the low

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Circuit Breaker
3.4 controlled opening
Controlled opening subjects for controlling the contact separation of all the three poles of circuit
breaker with respect to the phase angle of the current. Controlling of the point of contact separation
determines the arcing time of the breaker contacts to help and prevent breaker and circuit switched to
get not to fail in its operation and to minimize stress and disturbances to the power system. The
implementation of controlled opening is randomly the same regardless of the equipment is to being
switched. The control is straight forward once timing data for a breaker is available, particularly the
time from energizing the trip coil to contact separation. Although controlled opening is greatly done
using the current through the circuit breaker, the bus bar voltage can be used if the voltage current
phase relationship is always known to us, such as for shunt reactor and switching of shunt capacitor.
The breaker is controlled so that its contacts will part just after a current zero. As the contacts manage
to open they draw out an arc that will extinguish less than a half cycle later at the next current zero
position. When the arc will extinguish, the contacts would have been separates as far apart as
practical, which provides the maximum dielectric strength available for the surrounding conditions.
This gives the breaker its best chance of successfully with standing the recovery voltage and not
having a re ignition or a re strike. Re ignition is a dielectric breakdown that re establishes current
within 90 electrical degrees of interruption. Re strike is a dielectric breakdown after 90 degrees.

Primates Monkeys
The first true evolution of primates goes all the way back to 55 million years ago.. Primates descend in

Lemurs face as a dangerous predator are humans. Humans are the major cause for different species of

Conflicts can be divided into different categories; Interpersonal, Man vs. Society, Man vs. Nature,
Intrapersonal, Between characters and Character vs. Self. What conflict/s can be found in your novel?
Are they interesting? Why/why not?
The conflict in The Da Vinci Code is a long standing war between two groups that includes many
people. The Priory of Sion and Opus Dei are in war over the Holy Grail. The war started thousands of
years ago. Opus Dei could be described as the church mafia and they are determined to find the Holy
Grail and destroy the Holy Grail to cover up their tracks. The Priory of Sion is in possession of the
Holy Grail which gives them power over the church. This conflict expands and involves more people.
Both Robert Langdon and Sophie Neveu are not members of any of the group but they are still the
core of the conflict.
More conflicts builds up during the book but every conflict is related to the main conflict. For
example the police tries to make Robert Langdon incriminate himself, this is because they want to find
the Holy Grail. Every conflict circles back to Opus Dei and the church trying to destroy the Priory of
Sion. The conflict is interesting and includes much iconography, history and mathematical problems.
Many famous people such as Leonardo da Vinci and Isaac Newton are mentioned as former leaders of
the Priory. The book is based on the conflict and therefore the conflict is central and important in the
book. I have enjoyed reading about the conflict and I hope the conflict will be as interesting

reactions to Kinsey s research on homosexuality. With Americans reactions Kinsey s research had a
profound effect on the gay subculture in the United States ( The Kinsey Institute Kinsey Sexuality
Rating Scale, n.d.). However, it also impacted homosexuals in other parts of the world. Historian
Dagmar Herzog argues that activists for homosexual rights in France and West Germany were thrilled
by Kinsey s research that showed heterosexual and homosexual behaviors as being on a continuum
rather than as a dichotomy between gay and straight (Herzog, 2006). This is ultimately due to the fact
that in West Germany homosexuality was still illegal and in

Novel Word Condition
Materials During the experiment, children will be sitting on a small chair by a small table located in a
quiet room, where an experimenter will present two pictures of females wearing differently colored
shirts (black and white). The informants physical appearances, such as hair color and facial
expressions will be matched. During the training trial, four pictures of familiar words will be used for
the participants in the familiar word condition (e.g., little, silly, asleep); four pictures of novel words
will be used for the participants in the novel word condition (e.g., meager, doltish, dormant). During
the subsequent testing trial and generalization trial, four pictures of novel words (e.g., momentum,
lexicon, sufficing) will be used, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The researchers could investigate children s preference by manipulating the social identity (e.g., native
accent versus foreign accent) of the informants, or do so by manipulating the length of the definition
(e.g., short versus long definitions).

Are We Racist Essay
The writer starts off by analyzing a video and then asking the question of whether or not you are racist
if you oppose the migration of the Syrian people. Then he goes on to mention the Paris attacks and the
casualties involved. He brings up other various attacks, statistics about the immigrants and a quote
from Donald Trump. Finally, concludes the paper with his personal views. Are we Racist? I recently
watched a video where a news reporter who was of Latino descent asked a loaded question to a
Caucasian male. Are you racist? At first, the question caught the white man, along with his
accompanying African American friend, off guard. He replied, Why is it that people who stand up for
America and who want to protect our own borders ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Stadium attack or attempted attack in Hannover, Germany took place on Tuesday night. Of course
they evacuated the people ninety minutes before the kickoff of the soccer match between Germany
and the Netherlands. They later claimed that no explosives were found even though French
intelligence tipped them off beforehand to a five man cell that was planning to attack that soccer
stadium as well as a train station and a bus stop. It since turns out that a paramedic has now gone

said that he directly saw the explosives; he saw the bomb in the ambulance during that whole

Voting Rights Act Of 1965 Analysis
The article by Kenneth T. Walsh discusses about the idea that was presented in 1965 when President
Johnson signed a law intending to right a wrong. The wrong that Johnson wanted gone was made
through the signing of the Voting Rights Act which allowed millions of Americans of color to be able
to vote. Johnson gracefully stated, This law will ensure them the right to vote. The wrong is one which
no American, in his heart, can justify. The right is one which no American, true to our principles, can
deny.... It is not just a question of guilt, although there is that. It is that men cannot live with a lie and
not be stained by it (Lyndon B. Johnson). The thing is though two years ago the Supreme Court in a 5
4 decision struck down congress attempting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I understand that in an ideal situation voting should be easily accessible for all and the while still is
difficult to have people commit fraud. But you just can t have it both ways realistically and if you can
have it both ways it still hasn t been presented yet, maybe in the near future sure but as it is at the
moment that s the dilemma. Like how Walsh said, It s all about political power who has it, who wants
it, who gets it (Kenneth T. Walsh). It rings true on so many levels it truly all does come down to those
three simple things it seems as though that s what every politician is striving to achieve their end goal

Theories Of The Id, Ego, And Superego
Marcuse develops the aesthetic principle based on modification of Freudian theories of the Id, ego,
and superego.in Freud s writings the id is behavior stem from libido energy, is what gives us pleasure.
The ego is the part of the psyche that represents and regulates reality. The ego strives for what is
useful and what can be obtained without damage to itself and to its vital environment. Under the
reality principle, the human being develops the function of reason: it learns to test the reality, to
distinguish between good and bad, true and false, useful and harmful (Marcuse). The ego is essentially
what has allowed us to stay alive or not burn our hand with the pretty campfire a second time. The
superego is our moral compass that has been thought to us since the day we were born; it is simply the
rules and ethical norms of the society we live in. Although Marcuse does develop some of his theory
on Freud s theories he rejects Freud s ahistorical approach and chooses to politicize Freud s primarily
psychological theories.
Marcuse s aesthetic principle is an extension of the id, while the performance principle is an extension
of to the ego. The aesthetic principle is a system where society encourages people to live in a way that
will give them true joy or happiness. According to Marcuse if society transforms from to aesthetic
based society it will eventually lead to the dissolvent of systems where a few powerful elites have total
control.
Marcuse discusses how the

  • 6. Federal Grant Money Creates An Interest Essay Introduction Federal grant money creates an interest in the property it is used to purchase and/or improve. Westmoreland Human Opportunities, Inc. v. Walsh, 246 F.3d 233 (2001); In re Joliet Will Cty. Cmty. Action Agency, 847 F.2d 430 (1988); Henry v. First Nat. Bank of Clarksdale, 595 F.2d 291 (1979). An agency s claim to an interest in property after the trustee has gone bankrupt or lost the mortgage is recognized by the courts, but may vary based on the terms of the grant. The less discretion the grantee has to spend the funds from a grant the stronger the Governments interest claim. Courts will enforce a federal interest in a property, even when it is not recorded and if a federal agency is found to hold a legitimate interest in the property than sovereign immunity is applied and it is immune from attachments. See E.g., Wilcox v. Jackson ex dem. McConnel, 38 U.S. 498, 516 17 (1839); Westmoreland Human Opportunities, Inc. v. Walsh, 246 F.3d 233, 239 42 (2001). Background The type of claim the government can make on property procured or improved with grant money depends on the nature of the grant. If the language of the grant treats the grantee as an intermediary, the assets purchased were never the theirs, cannot be liquidated in bankruptcy and, therefore, remain the property of the government. In re Joliet Will Cty. at 432. However, if the grant is set up like a contract for a performance that was never delivered on the government would not retain the property ... (Keller) What Ric Keller states here is an opinion that outlines a compelling fact about HBCUs that along with several other significant information that may come as a surprise. Essentially, the great debate between the choice of whether a Historically Black College and University or Predominantly White Institution is more beneficial or not can become a pondering interrogation. Each acronym defines itself, Historically Black Colleges and Universities(HBCUs) were established by the means of providing an education for predominantly African American students. Whereas, Predominantly White Intuitions(PWI) serve to instruct and educated the opposite or in other words those of Caucasian descent. HBCUs are institutions that were founded before 1964 where most were developed after the Civil War and are usually located in the former slave states with a small amount of notable exceptions. Today in the United States, there are 107 HBCUs this includes public and private institutions, medical and law schools. Even though a PWI does not discriminate other races in admissions what it can provide for an African American versus the African Americans that attend HBCUs is a drastic difference. • 11. Schema Theory And The Schema Theory Schema theory Humans live and operate by using past experiences, which enables them to think in the present and about the future. Why is it that the past still plays an important role in everyday lives and is not forgotten? The answer is allegedly because of memory. Mental representations are how we store images in our memory, what we already know affects the way we define events and store knowledge. The structures and processes involved in the storage and retrieval of information comes in the three stages; encoding, storage and recovery. The way the mind process memory is influenced by the schema theory as cognitive theory about information processing. The term schema was introduced my Piaget and this idea was later brought back into psychology and education by Bartlett. Schema theory proposes that what we already know influences the outcome of information processing. Piaget had three factors to the cognitive theory and the schema theory happened to be one of them. She criticizes Tom Tancredo; a Republican congressional representative from Colorado, for promoting a legislation which she claims minimizes the rights of illegal immigrants. It is a product of the organising function however; it must be achieved throughout the organisations structure. Here are some of what I would consider to be the most important co ordination activities in construction: * Ensuring the timeliness of work carried out * Maintaining records of all drawings information, verbal instructions, directives and documents received from both clients and consultants * Managing the quality of work * Liaising with clients and consultants * Identifying delays and strategic activities Communication The goal of communication is to convey information and the understanding of that information, from one person or group to another person or group. The efficiency and effectiveness of the construction process depend heavily on the quality of communication. Throughout the construction process the people involved can communicate via email, word of mouth, drawings, written instruction, specification or

  • 29. A Humean Theory of Distributive Justice Essay This paper suggests a strategy for constructing a contemporary Humean theory of distributive justice which would serve to ground what I call an entrepreneurial welfare state. It is argued that blending David Hume s insights about the origins and purposes of justice with Ronald Dworkin s insurance based reasoning supporting his equality of resources model of distributive justice will yield a state which, as a matter of justice, encourages its members to engage in entrepreneurial activities and which protects them from the worst extremes of market economies. Here is what Hume says: Tis by society alone he is able to supply his defects and raise himself up to an equality with his fellow creatures, and even acquire a superiority above them. By society all his infirmities are compensated . . . and . . . leave him in every respect more satisfied and happy, than tis possible for him, in his savage and solitary condition, ever to become. When every individual person labours a part, and only for himself, his force is too small to execute any considerable work; his labour being employ d in supplying all his different necessities, he never attains a perfection in any particular art; and as his force and success are not at all times equal, the least failure in either of these particulars must be attended with inevitable ruin and misery. Society provides a remedy for these three inconveniences. By the conjunction of forces, our power is augmented: By the partition of employments, our ability encreases; And by mutual succour we are less expos d to fortune and accidents. Tis by this additional force, ability, and security, that society becomes advantageous.(1) Wild Uncultivated Sex, or How Society Arises [I]n order to form society, tis requisite not only that it be advantageous, but also that men be sensible of these advantages yet tis impossible, in their wild uncultivated state, that ... When we seriously we really know anything at all, we innate lead into test of knowing, in the hope of being capable to discriminate the trustworthy beliefs from such as are untrustworthy. Knowledge is the principal intellectual attainment studies of epistemology. Virtually all theorists agree that true belief is a necessary condition for knowledge, and it was once thought that justification, when added to true belief, yield a necessary and sufficient condition for knowledge. According to Plato, knowledge can be gained by researching within, but Plato also addressed the common man s potential for achieving knowledge despite his deficient condition in comparison to the Platonic idea. In the famous allegory of the cave in the Republic, Plato offers a quite realistic view of the common man as being imprisoned in a world of becoming. Gerard Sloyan states, Jesus of Nazareth in Galilee died on the cross at the hands of Roman justice, hundreds of thousands were subjected to the cruel punishment before and after Him. The Romans preferred, those sentenced to crucifixion, be beaten, flogged, and tortured before their death upon the cross. It weakened the victims to such a degree that their time on the cross was shortened. (Sloyan 17). There has been some debate over the years as to whether the Romans used rope or nails to affix victims of crucifixion to the cross, however evidence has been found prove nails are used. In the 1960 s archaeologists in Jerusalem found remains of around three dozen Jews, who had died during an uprising against Rome in A.D. 70. The remains of one victim, was found with a seven inch nail still piercing the feet, with remains of olive wood from the cross still attached. (Strobel 200 201). This discovery confirmed biblical connects to the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ. The medical evidence, though Jesus died long before modern medicine, is still there to support the facts, that there is no way Jesus could have survived the cross. Even before Jesus made it the cross, there is evidence Jesus suffered and was tortured before his death. The Jesus was preparing for his mind for the torture that was to come in the following days, so he was naturally experiencing a great deal of psychological stress. (Strobel 194). Advantages And Disadvantages Of Circuit Breaker 3.4 controlled opening Controlled opening subjects for controlling the contact separation of all the three poles of circuit breaker with respect to the phase angle of the current. Controlling of the point of contact separation determines the arcing time of the breaker contacts to help and prevent breaker and circuit switched to get not to fail in its operation and to minimize stress and disturbances to the power system. The implementation of controlled opening is randomly the same regardless of the equipment is to being switched. The control is straight forward once timing data for a breaker is available, particularly the time from energizing the trip coil to contact separation. Although controlled opening is greatly done using the current through the circuit breaker, the bus bar voltage can be used if the voltage current phase relationship is always known to us, such as for shunt reactor and switching of shunt capacitor. The breaker is controlled so that its contacts will part just after a current zero. As the contacts manage to open they draw out an arc that will extinguish less than a half cycle later at the next current zero position. When the arc will extinguish, the contacts would have been separates as far apart as practical, which provides the maximum dielectric strength available for the surrounding conditions. This gives the breaker its best chance of successfully with standing the recovery voltage and not having a re ignition or a re strike. Under the reality principle, the human being develops the function of reason: it learns to test the reality, to distinguish between good and bad, true and false, useful and harmful (Marcuse).
