Essay on Ligers Informative Speech
Ligers Informative Speech
The clip you just saw is from the popular movie Napoleon Dynamite. Many of you have probably
seen it before but I bet you never thought about any of it as being factual, did you? Well, even
though the description was a bit off, ligers really do exist. According to Encyclopedia Americana,
ligers are a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger (also known as a tigress). It is
nearly impossible for them to exist in the wild because most lions live in Africa and most tigers live
in Asia, however under the right circumstances they can be bred. In most cases the tiger and the
lion must be raised together to overcome any natural enmity between their species, however ligers
have also been accidental. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The human contact usually helps because it makes them easier to take care of when they are older
and larger, and they will get larger. Ligers are the world?s biggest cats, and they are leaning
towards gigantism. They are bigger than either parent, becoming anywhere from ten to twelve
feet in length and weighing usually near a half of a ton or more. Ligers are larger than their
parents, because according to Wikipedia encyclopedia, female lions and male tigers transmit a
growth inhibiting gene to their offspring. Being the offspring of a male lion and female tiger,
though, the liger does not have the growth inhibiting gene, and therefore they grow constantly
throughout their lives until their body cannot sustain their size anymore. The counter hybrid of
the liger, the tigon, however, is smaller than its parents because it does have the growth
inhibiting gene. Both animals are crosses between tigers and lions, however they get their name
according to what species the father is (for example, ligers have lion fathers, and tigons have
tiger fathers). Other than their large size, ligers vary in appearance depending on how their genes
interact with one and other. Usually males grow sparse manes (like those of a male lion), and the
facial ruff of a tiger. Both males and females have spotted stomachs and striped back. They roar like

EHR In Healthcare
The implementation of electronic health records (EHRs) in the hospital is very complex and
requires detail planning. Recognizing organizational and technical aspects of the EHR is crucial
matter because those factors affect the outcome of the implementation directly and indirectly. The
culture of an organization and its structure, the building block of the organization (infrastructure),
money, management, and human skills play a major role in the implementation phase of EHRs in an
acute care setting (Boonstra, Versluis, Vos, 2014). The EHR implementation in the hospitals would
be more challenging compared to outpatient settings because confidentiality, safety, security and
data entry intricacy concerns.

Altruistic Surrogacy Research Paper
Utilizing a surrogate mother to carry our potential child is the choice for us. Initially, the idea of
exchanging a baby for money is a process that appears emotionless and materialistic, but when one
looks at the reasoning behind the decision, it proves to be just the opposite. In chapter 6 of Moral
Choices: An Introduction to Ethics it refers to Altruistic Surrogacyas, an arrangement without a fee,
occurs when a close friend or familymember functions as a surrogate solely out of a generous
desire to impart the gift of life . (Rae, p. 252) I believe we have many women in our life that
would be willing to help us out. These helpful women would understand that I may have a life

Healthcare is a right to the American people and it is present to prevent and treat pain and
illnesses on a standard level. (Garrett, p. 239) Paying a surrogate is a person s privilege and like
other privileges, not all can afford to execute such options when considering parenthood.
Naturally, the goal is for all to have access to the basic needs; food, health care and happiness,
but not all have equal levels of such items; that is how our society works. One person s lifestyle
may afford steak and lobster and the others macaroni and cheese. Both are being fed, but one
type of food is costlier than the other. Rich or poor, both should have the opportunity to those
privileges, but the journey to get there may be more difficult than the person who was born into
money. Pressure should not arise on the end of the parents initiating the service from the
surrogate mother and fair compensation and medical coverage are among many terms that
should be discussed before deciding to use a surrogate. (Garrett, p. 232) The opportunity to use a
surrogate may not be available to those less wealthy, but that may be for good reason. Women
who have less income are more likely to not be able to afford the necessities for a child, whereas a
mother who can afford surrogate services is more likely to be able to afford the material aspects
of raising one. The women who are less fortunate income wise, may be that way because they do
not have the added income from a

What Is The Purpose Of Queen Victoria
The daughter of Edward, the Duke of Kent (and fourth son of King George III) and German
Princess Victoire of Leiningen or better known as Queen Victoria rule from 1837 to 1901. She
was one of the longest ruling monarch in Britain s history (Queen Victoria). Queen Victoria was
criticized and satirized by Lewis Caroll as the tyrannical and despotic queen of Wonderland, The
Queen of Heart in Alice s Adventure in Wonderland. She is first seen when Alice arrives in the
Queen of Heart s garden. The dictatorial queen oft holds power over the residents and in return
the residents come to fear and averse her presence. Why the fact is, you see, Miss, this here ought

Caroll also hints that Queen Victoria is most likely to convict an innocent man or woman to
prison due her inability to judge and give the correct punishment as she is often sway by her
emotions. The author further juxtaposes Queen Victorian and The Queen of Hearts by
accentuating the fact that Queen Victoria is ruthless and vicious when it pertains to punishments.
Not only Queen Victoria is known for her overbearing attitude, she can juxtapose due to her love
for punishment and judging a crime unfairly just like the Queen of Hearts. You may go, said the
King, to the Hatter hurriedly left the court, without even waiting to put his shoes on and just take
his head off outside, the Queen added to one of the officers (Through the Looking Glass 102).
Caroll uses the Queen of Hearts to satirises Queen Victoria because Caroll would have find her
ridiculous with her flaws that makes her incompetent as a Queen. All in all, Queen of Hearts is a
character that is parallel to Queen Victoria to deride and ridicule the ruler of Britain during the

Types Of Deep Brain Stimulation Essay
This paper was a ground breaking entry into the combined usage of deep brain stimulation (DBS)
and optogenetics. Studies involving DBS are usually met with potential confounders as to the route
of therapeutic intervention. The authors mentioned three, the first being the difficulty in
determining specific circuits responsible due to the complexity of nervous tissue. Another being
that DBS makes use of high frequency stimulation (HFS) which itself produces a myriad of
changes in activity that can be hard to pin down in target cells. The final being that DBS creates
artefacts through electrical stimulation that clouds target cell responses in neural circuits1.
Parkinson s Disease (PD) is characterized by a loss of dopamine in the striatum that results in both
motor and affective pathologies. Specifically modulated are the direct and indirect pathways in the
basal ganglia. The indirect pathway is studied in this paper and comprises the global pallidus
interna and its afferent synapses on the subthalamic nucleus.2 To address this aspect of PD and the
aforementioned DBS issues the authors decided to make use of channel rhodopsins,
halorhodopsins, optrodes and optical stimulation. To induce the PD symptoms, rodents were
injected with 6 hydroxydopamine (6 OHDA) to induce hemi parkinsonian symptoms on the
contralateral side and in vivo delivery of ChR2 and NpHR was done via lentiviruses.
The first experiment focused on establishing the DBS technique and other methods for the

Materials needed specifically for the smart office product will be the indoor and/or outdoor camera

without affecting the business s aesthetic look (minimal cost under $0.10 per unit). Indoor

means our technicians cost $115 per install/each (plus costs of elected benefits). Average cost for
an install, using 2 cameras and 30 feet of RG11 for learning purposes, will cost about $982 to

Alien Organicity In Alien
An Assessment of Organicity in Alien
Question: In Alien, is organicity portrayed as beauty or repulsiveness? In Alien, a film directed by
Ridley Scott in 1979, a crew boards the Nostromos to explore a distress signal. However, once an
alien is brought onboard, the crew struggles for their individual survival. There is a constant
juxtaposition between the organic and inorganic, and the organic is often heavily associated with
the abject, which entails messiness and even violence. Beauty refers to the visual aesthetics in the
film, as well as pure, inner qualities of an organism. Organicity is defined as organisms that appear
in their most raw form, are unaltered by social constructs, or has the ability to think. The main
theme of the abject is put in conversation with gender and technology in order to understand the
complexity of both beautiful and repulsive portrayals of organicity. Although organicity often has a
repulsive connotation in Alien, the instances in which they are beautiful teaches us to embrace the
abject. The moments of beauty found in organicity offers viewers an opportunity to change their
perception of the abject. Towards the end of the movie, when Ripley thought she was alone on the
shuttle, she began taking off her clothes. However, when she was surprised by the presence of the
alien, she carefully slipped into a spacesuit. The smooth texture and warm color of her skin are
shown slowly and clearly in a close up shot, and unlike the rest of the scene

Dr. Louis Leaky s The Mountain Gorillas
Doctor Dian Fossey was an American primatologist who chose to dedicate two decades of her life
studying the mountain gorillas of the Virunga Mountains in East Africa. She chose to report her
study of the mountain gorillas in the form of a book called Gorillas in the Mist. It portrays the
adventure, struggles, and realizations Dian Fosseyexperienced in her efforts to understanding the
Mountain Gorillas lifestyle. When on a six week long safari in Africa, Fossey was introduced to
Dr. Louis Leaky who emphasized to her the importance of conducting a long term field study with
great apes. Once returned home Dr. Leaky convinced Fossey to become the gorillagirl and carry out
a funded long term field study of mountain gorillas (Fossey, 1983). Although at first Fossey s
goal was simply to collect data, she was able to gain the trust of the Mountain Gorillas and in turn
teach the scientific community and the general population new information on gorilla s
individualism and social structure. Fossey dismantled previous stereotypes of gorillas being
vicious beasts and instead preached of their playful and gentle personalities. This encouraged
primatologist to work towards conservation research for the great apes along with pushing the
field to focus on studying the apes for their own culture, not just for human evolutionary interests.
The means in which Dian Fossey formatted Gorillas in the Mist is clearly so that it is an easily
readable piece that can be understood by a wide

In The Skin Of A Lion Essay
The Unknown History
The genre of historical fiction is loved by many authors as it allows them to use the past as an
inspiration while writing a fictional story that will captivate the readers. In the novel In the Skin of
a Lion by Michael Ondaatje, the rich history is explored throughout the novel with the theme of the
unfair treatment of immigrants, the construction of both the Bloor Street Viaduct and the Queen
Street Waterworks and the character of Rowland Harris. By looking at the historical facts in the
novel, we can see why it s considered a historical fiction novel, which most readers fail to
recognize; this is important because Ondaatje chooses this writing style so that the readers can
learn about the rich history of Toronto through ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, Ondaatje names him Rowland Harris and he s a secondary character in the story.
However, that being said, Rowland Harris is portrayed as a visionary, a dreamer and an
achiever. The author does a great job of bringing this character in the story all while maintaining
some great accomplishments in his life. Roland Harris envisioned a lot of aspects that Toronto
now has. During Harris and Patrick s conversation at The Queen Street Waterworks, Harris says
It turned out I was dreaming about projects for the city that had been rejected over the years.
Wonderful things that were said to be too vulgar or expensive, too this too that. (Ondaatje 237)
Roland Harris was a great architect for the city of Toronto, he was a visionary and wanted to
make the city of Toronto grow. This is directly linked to Toronto s history and Ondaatje uses that
secondary character who the readers don t see a lot throughout the book to talk about someone
who dreamed big for Toronto. Harris even says to Patrick I mean the Bloor Street Viaduct and
this building here are just a hint of what could have been done here. (Ondaatje 237) For someone
who was a visionary for Toronto, the sky would have been the limit if he had the money and the
right to keep making the city grow. The Character of Harris has played a valuable part in the way
Toronto is shaped today and Ondaatje knew

Hammurabi Continuity
The Age of Hammurabi left a profound impression on the history of Mesopotamia and the
evolution of this civilisation. The babylonian king helped to unify disparate smaller kingdoms,
intiating an age of territorial rather than city states. Hammurabi made the city of Babylon one of
regional significance, after his death it would remain a religious centre until the first century AD.
He created a more centralised administration concerntrating more power within the palace and
taking power away from the temples. Hammurabi was particularly renowned for being a just
king. His law code would be copied and used as a model for justice for hundreds of years to follow.
The babylonian king was also unusually personally involved in his legal system, even... Show more

Southern Mesopotamia and Sumeria previously had deified their kings but Hammurabi brought
this to an end. As an alternate way of legitimising his reign Hammurabi drew attention to his
royal ancestry in a similar manner to the kin based structures of the Amorite kingship (Liverani
pp250). Some aspects of the royal ideology remained the same. For example earlier kings had
also portrayed themselves as devoted shepherds who brought justice to their lands and
Hammurabi maintained this practice. The population was as a helpless flock and it was the
king s responsibility to help them prosper. This is evident in the introduction to his law code in
which the king claimed, I am the good shepherd, selected by Enlil (Mieroop 2005 pp82). With
agricultre so vital for soceity in the south, maintenance of farmland was an integral role for any
king. Hammurabi alloted land to farmers in two main ways. He either rented out land for an
annual fee or assigned portions to people in reward for services to the palace (Mieroop 005,
pp.85). With very little rainfaill in the south, farming required the digging of irrigation canals.
This is evident in an inscription celebrating the construction of the canal called Hammurabi is
the abundance of the people which says that he shepherded the people of Sumer and Akkad,
giving them pastures, watering places and peaceful homes (Mieroop, 2005 pp.82). One factor
that is generally accepted by archaeologists to have contributed to the decilne of the Old
Babylonian period, is over irrigation. The numerous canals helped to raise the water table and
therefore salinity levels, decreasing the soil s fertility (Liverani, 2013). In addition to helping his
people prosper the Babylonian king also helped to maintain law and order. This is reflected in the
famous code of Hammurabi which described how to deal with issues of murder, theft, professional
negligence,

This essay highlights and discusses models of disability reflected in two separate articles
(Appendices A and B). I will identify the models of disability they represent. Both have been
recently featured in the Guardian newspaper and are stories on disabled people.
Appendix A was reported some years ago but continues to evoke opinion and has featured again
recently due to a similar case. Ashley is a profoundly disabled girl, who at six years old has a
mental age of 3 months. Her parents decided on controversial treatment for her, as her condition
would not improve. Ashley has undergone surgery to remove her uterus and breasts, and for three
years she received hormone treatment to keep her weight and height low. It ... Show more content

This Rights model, more specifically Ashley s human rights is very present in the article. It could
be argued that she doesn t need or require the treatment to medically improve her life. The Equal
and Human Rights Commission (2008) suggest that human rights are the freedoms that we are all
entitled to as a result of our shared humanity. I understand that she is unable to speak and is
unlikely to have the mental capacity to make that decision but does that automatically transfer that
decision to her parents? The United Nations Convention on the Rights for a Child (1989) plays an
important part of the Rights model for this text as I feel it both supports and opposes the parent s
actions. Article 23 concentrates on children s disability by stating that Children who have any kind
of disability have the right to special care and support, as well as all the rights in the Convention,
so that they can live full and independent lives. This could support Ashley s parent s motives.
However, Article 3 states The best interests of children must be the primary concern in making
decisions that may affect them. All adults should do what is best for children. When adults make
decisions, they should think about how their decisions will affect children. In this case are the
parents doing what s best for Ashley or themselves? This is a good example where the Rights
model can get itself in a twist! The

Small Vs. Large Organic Farming
Small vs. Large
The general public sees any type of organic food as being produced straight out of a backyard
garden or right off of the family farm . But is it really freshly picked tomatoes right out of
Grandma Mae s garden or chicken breast from a local farm? If the food purchased is from
Whole Foods or the organic section at Walmart, then that probably is not the case. Large organic
farms are what usually supply Whole Foods and other larger chain stores that have organics. They
are not what people initially think of when imagining the typical organic farm. They usually think
of a small plot of land with an old farmhouse, chicken coops, a red barn, and a large pasture of
grass. Even though there are still organic farms like that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although the smaller farms do not need the expensive and large equipment, they have to pay
farmhands to take care of everything by hand. Farm hands, on average, make about eleven
dollars per hour. For three farm hands that work approximately an eight hour day, cost the farm
two hundred and sixty four dollars a day (Farm Hand). To power harvesting machinery for about
an eight hour day, would cost two hundred and eight dollars a day just for diesel costs (Edwards).
So, the price to run per day for both large and small organic farms does not have a dramatic
difference.
Another quite large expense is that of transportation. Products from large farms typically supply
large markets and are usually not at small farmers markets. In order for the food to be transported
from the farm to the supermarket, they have to use fuel. Not only is this costing them much more,
but it is also affecting the environment. On the contrary, small farms typically sell their produce at
farmers markets or at their farm itself. This is not only conserving them money, but it is also
conserving fossil fuels.
Another economic factor in organic farming, in general, is that organic food is typically more
expensive that its non organic counterpart. This observation goes along with both large and small
organic farms. When people go shopping, they often look for the cheapest item. Since

Persuasive Essay On Smoking In Public Places
Imagine, arriving home after a wondrous evening at a restaurant with family only to realize that
everyone s clothes and hair smells like smoke. This happens all too often simply because people
are allowed to smoke in public. Numerous individuals are addicted to smoking cigarettes and do not
have any consideration for those around them when they make the decision to smoke. People that
smoke cigarettes have made their choice to subject themselves to the many health risks that smoking
can have on their body. However, many individuals have made the choice not to smoke cigarettes
because they do not want to subject themselves to many of the health risks that smoking can have.
Nevertheless, they are still required to deal with these things when others choose to smoke
cigarettes in a public place. How is that just? Non smokers should not be forced to deal with all the
issues that can arise from breathing in cigarettesmoke or dealing with all their clothes smelling like
smoke simply for the reason that someone chose to smoke in a public place. Smoking cigarettes
does not only impact the individual that is smoking, it impacts everyone and everything around
them. Smoking cigarettes in public places should be banned. Individuals that smoke cigarettes in
public places might become a bad example for children. Many parents enjoy taking their children to
the mall, park, and the even the pool. However, when a parent takes their children to these places,
the probability of them spotting an individual smoking a cigarette is great. Young children might
still have a challenging time with knowing the difference between right and wrong. Therefore,
when a young child sees an individual smoking cigarettes while they are out in a public place, that
child might perceive smoking as something everyone ought to be doing. Also, when an individual
is done with their cigarette, most of the time, they throw it on the ground. A young child might see
this and think that they can dispose of their trash on the ground simply for the fact that they saw an
older individual, that was smoking a cigarette, do just that. Besides young children, teenagers might
see an individual that is smoking and think that it looks cool. If a teenager thinks

is in nature. In addition, the symbolism is strengthened as it is depicted through Janie s point of
view. Janie s dream under the pear tree symbolizes her desire for love. The earliest memory she
recalls during her story to Pheoby was spending every minute that she could steal from her chores
under that tree for the last three days (10). As she lies there, Hurston uses vivid and direct
language to portray Janie s thoughts about sexuality with phrases such as snowy virginity of the
bloom (10). Not only does she observe the characteristics of the buds, she also finds the action
fascinating. She saw a dust bearing bee sink into the sanctum of a bloom; the... Show more content

Undertaken project I was interested in this specific placement as I was keen to get more
experience as a research assistant on a non clinical academic research project. In general, my role
included testing the participants and coding the data. I also liked the idea of knowing the process
behind composing a new experiment, how the researchers develop their initial idea into a complex
experiment and how they go all the way to interpreting the data. What was also quite unique about
this experiment was that the participants were required to observe negatively arousing emotional
pictures of war scenes and violence, which can lead to very negative feelings at the end of the
experiment and knowing how to handle such procedure with the participant is a useful skill to
posses.
The experiment
The experiment consisted of three tasks. The first task differed based on the condition, where
participant was asked to either passively look at the pictures, rate how the pictures are related to
a similar set of pictures presented alongside the trial image, or to locate an action within the
picture. In all cases, the participant viewed emotional images. The second task, a distracting task,
consisted of calculating two simple math sums (e.g. 8 3) and deciding which one is larger. The
last task was a recall of all trial pictures seen

The Problem Of Water Pollution
Sad Waters The world we live in is has many problems that cause a lot of bad, with many ongoing

valuable and fragile place that can only do its best to care for itself. Water is essential to life as
we know it. If people use it, trash it and do not care for it, then this place that is a home to many

All of this inappropriate contamination, of used water, and horrible discharge of the different and
numerous waste water in the water sources, that are barely there, consist in bad result of water
pollution. In the majority of cases, the water is filled with dangerous chemicals and radioactive
materials that will hurt the public and any other living organisms. Water pollution can be identified
in numerous ways and be talked about in how they cause a certain place or situation but it will still
be all similar. Though water can naturally clean and better some problems, pollution is still bad
enough and hurts more than a few aspects water itself cannot handle. Prohibiting not only industrial
pollution but agricultural pollution would change everything and the life people live. When it
comes to agricultural pollution, the interests of farmers, environmentalists, and consumers may
have diverged to a large degree when focusing exclusively on agricultural water pollution. They
are the main reasons why this issue exists and so continuously occurs. Though there are more
than a few reasons for why this type of pollution is a big problem, like a person throwing their
drink bottles or cups, chip bags, trash bags, leftover plastics and other toxic disposals onto the floor
which will soon enough eventually find their way into

The issues raised by Isoft elucidate the importance of recording an accurate picture of its
earnings. The joint project of the FASB and the IASB is trying to converge the two sets of
standards and offer a single revenue recognition model that can be applied consistently to various
transactions which would address these issues of lack of guidance. Introduction: In January 2006,
Isoft Ltd, a Manchester based supplier of software applications for the healthcare sector,
announced that its profit would be below market expectations due to a change in its accounting
policy for revenue recognition, when it announced its results for the year ended April 2006. This
situation is not unusual within the software industry and reflects the issues that software
companies face when it comes to accounting for revenues. As the financial controller of
SoftWarehouse Ltd, my goal is to clarify and explain the main issues faced by Isoft Ltd; the
consequences of those issues on the business and finally; to determine if those practices could
also impact the financial reporting within SoftWarehouse Ltd. Part 1 Examining the Isoft Ltd

The Cultural Theorists Karl Marx, Looking Into His Idea Of...
The Bindi, which is loosely known as the Tika , Pottu , Sindoor , Tilak , Tilakam , and Kumkum
(Das, 2014) is a decorative dot that was traditionally worn by Hindu women in the middle of the
forehead (Antony, 2010). Bindi is a word that was obtained from the Sanskrit (a sacred language of
Hinduism) word bindu meaning drop or dot . Bindi has been interpreted throughout India in ways
of having spiritual devotions in relation to the Hindureligionand is also an indication of one being
married. Although it maintains a traditional meaning to those from India and the Hindu religion, it
has since then become that of a fashion accessory. The aim of this assignment will discuss the
cultural theorist Karl Marx, looking into his Idea of commodity fetishism. The second concept that
will be used in this essay is that of Stuart Hall and his idea of Encoding and Decoding and thirdly,
this paper will discuss cultural appropriation in relation to the use of bindi in society today.
The traditional bindi has religious and social significance to the people of India and those of the
Hindu religion. In a religious context there are three common meanings behind the bindi, one of
these is the area in which the bindi is placed (between the eyebrows). This is known as the third
eye or the sixth chakra, it is believed to possess energy which then controls concentration levels
whilst meditating (Das, 2014). Secondly, it is also seen as being a protective symbol in a way that is

The structure of We The Animals, by Justin Torres, has some patchy qualities to it. In other
words, it is all over the place. There are shifts from scene to scene, in this case the narrator s
experiences, which only reveal certain parts of the narrator s life to the readers. As a reader, I
felt like there were pieces that I was missing from the story because of the lack of transitions. It is
like someone giving you a cake with one slice already taken out. The structure of the novel
contributed to my understanding of the story because it left many things open ended for me to
conclude on my own. Additionally, the narrativeof the story was coming from one individual s point

Key Concepts 4.1 Globalizing Networks For Communication...
Key Concepts 4.1 Globalizing Networks for Communication and Exchange.
4.1 The degree of global interconnection greatly increased after 1500 CE at which point it started
to include the Americas, and parts of the world it had not before. BEfore this time period the globe
was only connected in the eastern hemisphere and places were not as open and involved with one
another everywhere. After this time period trade of materials, people, and crops became more
prominent and new things were introduced to new areas, this was mainly due to the introduction of
water based trade and the introduction of the Americas to the rest of the globalized world.
4.1.1 The global trade network introduced after 1500 CE affected the pre existing trade routes
only in that there was a new trade network that was becoming prominent so some other trade
routes started to get used less and by different people. An example of this would be how the
Europeans did not travel on the Silk Road as often because they had a new means of transportation
and trade that took them to another part of the world. But overall there was not an extremely large
impact on the pre existing trade routes in the world.
4.1.11 A The development and improvement of maritime tools such as compasses, boats, and
maps made the transoceanic European trade and travel possible. This is because the new
developments made it easier to travel for longer periods of time and it was easier to get where
someone needed to be without getting lost.

Project Management Students Attending Itt Technical Institute
Currently, all students attending ITT Technical Institute are learning some sort of Project
Management through specific courses that primarily teach only the theory behind Project
Management. The students attending ITT Technical Institute would greatly benefit from hearing
from Project Managers and Engineers first hand on what to expect in the field in which the students
are studying, and to speak on personal events that they have been through on the job and how the
importance of project managementhelped the speakers out in those events. A faculty member has
brought the idea to the Chair of the Business Program, that it would be a great idea to start a Project
Management Student Group and shed more light and visibility around the project management
degree within the school. Having the project management student group set up in the school and
bringing in guest speakers will better prepare the students for the career ahead, after graduating
from ITT Technical Institute. The Chair of Business has approved the idea and plan to start the
project management student group has been proposed.
Constraints:
After reviewing the project management student group request, a risk assessment was used to

How Nurses Administer Medications Safely Or How Existing...
Summary of the Study This research study is about how nurses administer medications safely or
how existing systems facilitate / hinder the medication administration, which has missed the
opportunity for the implementation of practical, effective, and low cost approach to optimize
safety. The purpose of the study is to pinpoint factors that facilitate and/or hinder successful
medication administration, which targets on three integral parts: nursepractices and workarounds,
medication administration workflow, and nature of interruptions and distractions during medication
administration. In effect, the findings showed three interrelated themes that facilitated successful
medication administration in some situations, but also acted as barriers in others. These
interrelated themes include (1) system configurations and features, (2) Behavior types among
nurses, and (3) patient interactions. Some system configuration and features acted as physical
pressure for parts of the drug round, however, some system effects were partly dependent on
nurses inherent behavior, which were grouped as: task focus and patient interaction focused . The
task focus is a more organized workflow with fewer interruptions, while patient interaction focused
empowers patients to act as a defense barrier against medication errors by being an active resource
of information, a passive resource of information, and/or a double checker . Thus, researchers
concluded that in order to reduce

Perhaps inspired by the snub, Carrey threw himself into his next role with abandon. After edging

Premature Hair Dyeing
Every woman s worst nightmare is gray hairs because they are the first sign of aging and they

Premature hair graying is a problem that may be a consequence of numerous health problems and

Transcendentalism and Deep Ecology
Transcendentalism has been linked to the birth of deep ecology, given the emotion and spiritual
philosophy that connects the two movements. Both transcendentalism and deep ecology
romanticize the natural world, and critique the way industrialization, modernization, and
urbanization encroach on ecological and spiritual purity. The eco centric worldview and value
system espoused by deep ecology has its roots in transcendentalism (Hicks, n.d.). Both
transcendentalists and deep ecologists disparage the ways individuals, communities, and whole
cultures present the humanbeing as being entitled to rape and plunder the earth.
However critical they were of human activity and stupidity, the transcendentalists were not
misanthropes. The transcendentalists advocated for a better world, one that discarded ineffective
and corrupt forms of government in favor of a more just and egalitarian society. All were
abolitionists, in an era where slavery and sexism were both normative. Emerson advocated
material and spiritual self reliance over philanthropy as a means of self empowerment. He also
criticized traditional types of philanthropy as having a certain air of quackery, (Emerson, 1842).
Philanthropy is often used as an excuse to avoid doing the real work of transforming the self and
the society, according to Emerson.
Thoreau promoted political activism in a more direct way than Emerson. In Civil Disobedience,
Thoreau advocated various forms of civil disobedience as a means of

The violence of his action in killing both his children pertains to his honor as a father and the
rules that society has emplaced upon him. This expectation is understood when Titus asks
Saturninus whether or not the killing of Lavinia after her rape was an action he should conduct
and why, to which Saturninus answers: Because the girl should not survive her shame, / And by
her presence still renew his sorrows. (5.1.41) Notice that the reason for her death is tied to the
father, who will be reminded of her shame every time he sees her, and that there is an societal
expectation that he do so. Shakespeare gives his insight into how society also effects the cycle of
violence, which can best be described by William Goode in his article Force and Violence in the
Family, in which he describes the societal impacts on a father:
He is socialized not to kill, but that very socialization makes him care deeply about principles and
honor, fairness and possessions, fidelity and self respect; indeed, these emotional commitments are
so great that he will risk or even give his life for them. It cannot be so surprising that he will also
murder for them. (Goode

5 Fastest Growing Real Estate Markets in South Asia
South Asia is the world s fastest growing region where the value and importance of real estate is
more than anywhere else in the world. It is a diverse continent where people have different ways
of trading. You must know the fastest growing real estate markets in South Asia before you start
your property search. The 5 fast growing real estate markets in south Asia are discussed below
Pakistan real estate market
Pakistan s economy faced depression in 2012. In 2013, the political scenario was quite
unpredictable and challenging but the position of Lahore real estate market was relatively
attractive for the same year. It was due to the success of the agricultural sector. Generally the
political scenario does not have a deep impact on the real estate market because the economy of
Pakistan is quite informal and investors are attracted to invest in the property market. The year
2014 was also positive for the economy of Pakistan and since the beginning of this year, real estate
market of Pakistan showed stability in both residential and commercial terms.
Now the real estate market is showing positive results. The demand of the properties in the leading
cities like Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi is also increased along with some increase in the prices.
New and existing projects also show upward growth. Rawalpindi/Islamabad real estate markets are
growing and receiving more investments but Lahore property market is going through

This Memo Services As An Evaluation Of Team Vitamin Cв
Ђ™S
This memo services as an evaluation of team Vitamin C s individual member contributions and
performance while drafting a Team Analytical Report (TAR).
During week three of the course, the instructor assigned Nate Couturier, Shae Foster, Edward
Sereno and myself to team Vitamin C and tasked us with drafting Individual Research Proposals
(IRP s) on a topic that would later be the basis for our final project. I chose to make my proposal
about flexible work schedules and how companies and employees can both benefit from them. After
the instructor approved our IRPs, we were to post them on the group s discussion board so that as
a team, we could decide the best topic for the Team Analytical Report (TAR). The next step of the
project was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He agreed with the decisions that had been made in his absence, approved and signed the CPPs.
Edward Sereno never responded to any of the group posts but eventually signed the contracts.
As the project progressed, Edward remained elusive, never responding to group discussions or
emails from the team leader, but he did occasionally reply to a few emails from Shae. During the
week in which the TAR draft was due, Shae and I agreed that it was in the team s best interest to
inform the instructor of Edward s lack of participation. Only then did he begin to participate more
regularly, but still continued to miss the agreed upon timeline schedule. Because of this Nate, Shae
and I always ended up scrambling to proofread and make any necessary revisions just a few hours
before the submission deadline.
Edward was responsible for the abstract, introduction and conclusion sections of the report. His
contributions revealed a lack of research and were completed at the last minute. As the time
management expert, he failed this duty. For any future team projects that Edward might be
involved in, I would suggest that he adequately research the topic, participate actively in group
discussions and make the necessary personal schedule changes to stay on schedule with the agreed
upon timeline.
Nate Couturier was absent during the first week of the project, but as I explained earlier, he had an
acceptable reason for that. Going forward, he was

Reflection On The Banking And Problem-Posing Methods Of...
To future BIS300 students, I have learned a lot during this class, which has helped me grow to
be a better writer and facilitator. Thanks to all the work I ve done throughout this class, my
writing and writing skills have improved dramatically. As a student, when it comes to writing
essays, I have been able to polish my skills in creating ideas. Through working on my artifacts, I
have gained even more skills that are going to be useful when I enter the real world working in
global business. The part of the artifacts I enjoyed working on the most was writing imaginative
letters between the famous Brazilian educator Paulo Freire and myself. We held a deep
discussion about the banking and problem posing methods of education. Specifically, I penned a
letter from Freire to me explaining why I am in an admissions bubble. I followed that up with a
second letter where I appealed that decision to Freire using philosophical arguments aligned with
his rationale. In order to truly engage with this assignment, I had to become engrossed in each of
our characters and creatively formulate the dialogue between us. Writing from Freire s point of
view, I had to think deeply about the motives underlying his problem posing model and why it was
important to him. In my response, I then had to relate those theories to the specific context of my
own education. Despite the challenging nature of this assignment, it was exciting to write
something so different than what I had done before. I am proud

Postmodern Noir Vs Cyber-Noir
Postmodern noir and Cyber noir
Across all noir periods there exists a unifying set of traits that link them all together and at the core
of that set is the desire to destabilize and unsettle the audience while also portraying a world in
which light and dark are in constant battle. As the 21st century furthers technological advancements
in the film industry the boundaries of what can be noir become even more blurred, giving way to
what many scholars call the post modern neo noir, or postmodern noir era. A fundamental aspect of
postmodernism is a propensity to destabilize the genre s realistic grounding. Postmodern film noir
involves a fundamental shift in the conception of artistic production in which creativity is no longer
conceived in

Slow Drainage: Clogged pipes may not immediately block up your entire sewer line, but may
build up over time to slow the rate of drainage in your home. If you notice that your sinks,

Running Club Research Paper
Running Club In sixth grade I quit the school band in the middle of my third year to join Running
Club. The goal of Running Club was to run a 5k after weeks of practice and I accepted the
challenge. Throughout the duration of training, I would find the long runs consistently demanding
and a test to my motivation to persevere in the club. One of the coaches, Miss. Ames, was my
teacher from the previous year and she ran with me during practice. She constantly encouraged me
to push myself a little more every run and to keep practicing. I was frustrated with my
performance, but Miss. Ames continued to encourage me. Nevertheless, preparing for that 5k was
an eye opening and an overall amazing experience. I turned in my form for RunningClub by the end
of the week and was ready to start running. When training began, we ran a few laps around the
school and I noticed as the runs came to be longer, I would become tired sooner. Miss. Ames
noticed and ran alongside me. During the runs, we would discuss other topics which would distract
me from thinking about my performance in the run. Later on, the coaches would time the runners to
see our performance. Being timed increased my irritation with my performance; however, Miss.
Ames reminded me that I was making progress regardless of what my... Show more content on

They congratulated me and I saw and felt their pride. I, myself, felt pride for conquering my
obstacles and overcoming my frustration. I had more confidence and even though Running Club
ended after the 5k, I continued to run with my friends and my renewed confidence. Joining that
club aided me to realize that I truly enjoyed running. My enjoyment for the sport influenced me to
become a member of the 7th and 8th grade cross country team, along with the track and field team.
Overall, my experiences in the Running Club guided my participation in running sports and

Payroll In Major League Sports
Most people think that more money means more success, but that is not always the case in major
league sports. In the MLB, some of the teams with higher payrolls don t do nearly as well as
some of the teams who have small payrolls. Some think that the game is all about money now, but
others think that it is still fair despite the differences in payroll. Major League Baseballteams differ
greatly in payroll, and its effects on their record vary. Major League Baseball teams have large
differences in payrolls. While there are teams that have payrolls of over 200 million like the
Dodgers and Yankees, there are also teams who have less than 50 million like the Marlins and the
Astros. The differences in payroll cause blood to boil between teams... Show more content on

In fact, six of the teams with among the lowest 10 payrolls are within six games of a playoff
berth (Nightengale). There is also one team who was in first place, yet had one of the lowest
payrolls. That team is the Kansas City Royals, with the tenth lowest payroll at 94.2 million
(Nightengale). The Commissioner of baseball, Bud Selig, was euphoric that massive payrolls
no longer guarantee success (Nightengale). For example, there was one team in the top five of
payroll that qualified for playoffs while the other four did not. In the 2015 season, the Houston
Astros, who have one of the smallest payrolls in the MLB, are sitting on top of their division and
looking to make a run at the playoffs. The Tampa Bay Rays are another example of how a team
who isn t paid as well can have a .500 season. Additionally, the Pittsburgh Pirates are 1 in 5 teams
who have a lower payroll this year and yet are still having a huge winning season. If it weren t for
the fact that the Cardinals are beating everyone in sight, then the Pirates would be on top of their

  • 2. Essay on Ligers Informative Speech Ligers Informative Speech The clip you just saw is from the popular movie Napoleon Dynamite. Many of you have probably seen it before but I bet you never thought about any of it as being factual, did you? Well, even though the description was a bit off, ligers really do exist. According to Encyclopedia Americana, ligers are a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger (also known as a tigress). It is nearly impossible for them to exist in the wild because most lions live in Africa and most tigers live in Asia, however under the right circumstances they can be bred. In most cases the tiger and the lion must be raised together to overcome any natural enmity between their species, however ligers have also been accidental. In ... Ligers are the world?s biggest cats, and they are leaning towards gigantism. They are bigger than either parent, becoming anywhere from ten to twelve feet in length and weighing usually near a half of a ton or more. Ligers are larger than their parents, because according to Wikipedia encyclopedia, female lions and male tigers transmit a growth inhibiting gene to their offspring. Being the offspring of a male lion and female tiger, though, the liger does not have the growth inhibiting gene, and therefore they grow constantly throughout their lives until their body cannot sustain their size anymore. The counter hybrid of the liger, the tigon, however, is smaller than its parents because it does have the growth inhibiting gene. Both animals are crosses between tigers and lions, however they get their name according to what species the father is (for example, ligers have lion fathers, and tigons have tiger fathers). Other than their large size, ligers vary in appearance depending on how their genes interact with one and other. Usually males grow sparse manes (like those of a male lion), and the facial ruff of a tiger. Both males and females have spotted stomachs and striped back. They roar like ... In chapter 6 of Moral Choices: An Introduction to Ethics it refers to Altruistic Surrogacyas, an arrangement without a fee, occurs when a close friend or familymember functions as a surrogate solely out of a generous desire to impart the gift of life . (Garrett, p. 239) Paying a surrogate is a person s privilege and like other privileges, not all can afford to execute such options when considering parenthood. Naturally, the goal is for all to have access to the basic needs; food, health care and happiness, but not all have equal levels of such items; that is how our society works. One person s lifestyle may afford steak and lobster and the others macaroni and cheese. Both are being fed, but one type of food is costlier than the other. Rich or poor, both should have the opportunity to those privileges, but the journey to get there may be more difficult than the person who was born into money. Pressure should not arise on the end of the parents initiating the service from the surrogate mother and fair compensation and medical coverage are among many terms that should be discussed before deciding to use a surrogate. (Garrett, p. 232) The opportunity to use a surrogate may not be available to those less wealthy, but that may be for good reason. Women who have less income are more likely to not be able to afford the necessities for a child, whereas a mother who can afford surrogate services is more likely to be able to afford the material aspects of raising one. • 11. Types Of Deep Brain Stimulation Essay This paper was a ground breaking entry into the combined usage of deep brain stimulation (DBS) and optogenetics. Studies involving DBS are usually met with potential confounders as to the route of therapeutic intervention. The authors mentioned three, the first being the difficulty in determining specific circuits responsible due to the complexity of nervous tissue. Another being that DBS makes use of high frequency stimulation (HFS) which itself produces a myriad of changes in activity that can be hard to pin down in target cells. The final being that DBS creates artefacts through electrical stimulation that clouds target cell responses in neural circuits1. Parkinson s Disease (PD) is characterized by a loss of dopamine in the striatum that results in both motor and affective pathologies. Specifically modulated are the direct and indirect pathways in the basal ganglia. The indirect pathway is studied in this paper and comprises the global pallidus interna and its afferent synapses on the subthalamic nucleus.2 To address this aspect of PD and the aforementioned DBS issues the authors decided to make use of channel rhodopsins, halorhodopsins, optrodes and optical stimulation. To induce the PD symptoms, rodents were injected with 6 hydroxydopamine (6 OHDA) to induce hemi parkinsonian symptoms on the contralateral side and in vivo delivery of ChR2 and NpHR was done via lentiviruses. • 13. Alien Organicity In Alien An Assessment of Organicity in Alien Question: In Alien, is organicity portrayed as beauty or repulsiveness? In Alien, a film directed by Ridley Scott in 1979, a crew boards the Nostromos to explore a distress signal. However, once an alien is brought onboard, the crew struggles for their individual survival. There is a constant juxtaposition between the organic and inorganic, and the organic is often heavily associated with the abject, which entails messiness and even violence. Beauty refers to the visual aesthetics in the film, as well as pure, inner qualities of an organism. Organicity is defined as organisms that appear in their most raw form, are unaltered by social constructs, or has the ability to think. The main theme of the abject is put in conversation with gender and technology in order to understand the complexity of both beautiful and repulsive portrayals of organicity. Although organicity often has a repulsive connotation in Alien, the instances in which they are beautiful teaches us to embrace the abject. The moments of beauty found in organicity offers viewers an opportunity to change their perception of the abject. Towards the end of the movie, when Ripley thought she was alone on the shuttle, she began taking off her clothes. She chose to report her study of the mountain gorillas in the form of a book called Gorillas in the Mist. It portrays the adventure, struggles, and realizations Dian Fosseyexperienced in her efforts to understanding the Mountain Gorillas lifestyle. When on a six week long safari in Africa, Fossey was introduced to Dr. Louis Leaky who emphasized to her the importance of conducting a long term field study with great apes. Once returned home Dr. Leaky convinced Fossey to become the gorillagirl and carry out a funded long term field study of mountain gorillas (Fossey, 1983). Although at first Fossey s goal was simply to collect data, she was able to gain the trust of the Mountain Gorillas and in turn teach the scientific community and the general population new information on gorilla s individualism and social structure. Fossey dismantled previous stereotypes of gorillas being vicious beasts and instead preached of their playful and gentle personalities. This encouraged primatologist to work towards conservation research for the great apes along with pushing the field to focus on studying the apes for their own culture, not just for human evolutionary interests. The babylonian king helped to unify disparate smaller kingdoms, intiating an age of territorial rather than city states. Hammurabi made the city of Babylon one of regional significance, after his death it would remain a religious centre until the first century AD. He created a more centralised administration concerntrating more power within the palace and taking power away from the temples. Hammurabi was particularly renowned for being a just king. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Southern Mesopotamia and Sumeria previously had deified their kings but Hammurabi brought this to an end. As an alternate way of legitimising his reign Hammurabi drew attention to his royal ancestry in a similar manner to the kin based structures of the Amorite kingship (Liverani pp250). Some aspects of the royal ideology remained the same. For example earlier kings had also portrayed themselves as devoted shepherds who brought justice to their lands and Hammurabi maintained this practice. The population was as a helpless flock and it was the king s responsibility to help them prosper. This is evident in the introduction to his law code in which the king claimed, I am the good shepherd, selected by Enlil (Mieroop 2005 pp82). With agricultre so vital for soceity in the south, maintenance of farmland was an integral role for any king. Hammurabi alloted land to farmers in two main ways. He either rented out land for an annual fee or assigned portions to people in reward for services to the palace (Mieroop 005, pp.85). With very little rainfaill in the south, farming required the digging of irrigation canals. This is evident in an inscription celebrating the construction of the canal called Hammurabi is the abundance of the people which says that he shepherded the people of Sumer and Akkad, giving them pastures, watering places and peaceful homes (Mieroop, 2005 pp.82). One factor that is generally accepted by archaeologists to have contributed to the decilne of the Old Babylonian period, is over irrigation. The numerous canals helped to raise the water table and therefore salinity levels, decreasing the soil s fertility (Liverani, 2013). In addition to helping his people prosper the Babylonian king also helped to maintain law and order. I understand that she is unable to speak and is unlikely to have the mental capacity to make that decision but does that automatically transfer that decision to her parents? The United Nations Convention on the Rights for a Child (1989) plays an important part of the Rights model for this text as I feel it both supports and opposes the parent s actions. Article 23 concentrates on children s disability by stating that Children who have any kind of disability have the right to special care and support, as well as all the rights in the Convention, so that they can live full and independent lives. This could support Ashley s parent s motives. However, Article 3 states The best interests of children must be the primary concern in making decisions that may affect them. • 21. Small Vs. Large Organic Farming Small vs. Large The general public sees any type of organic food as being produced straight out of a backyard garden or right off of the family farm . But is it really freshly picked tomatoes right out of Grandma Mae s garden or chicken breast from a local farm? If the food purchased is from Whole Foods or the organic section at Walmart, then that probably is not the case. Large organic farms are what usually supply Whole Foods and other larger chain stores that have organics. They are not what people initially think of when imagining the typical organic farm. They usually think of a small plot of land with an old farmhouse, chicken coops, a red barn, and a large pasture of grass. Even though there are still organic farms like that, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the smaller farms do not need the expensive and large equipment, they have to pay farmhands to take care of everything by hand. Farm hands, on average, make about eleven dollars per hour. For three farm hands that work approximately an eight hour day, cost the farm two hundred and sixty four dollars a day (Farm Hand). To power harvesting machinery for about an eight hour day, would cost two hundred and eight dollars a day just for diesel costs (Edwards). So, the price to run per day for both large and small organic farms does not have a dramatic difference. Another quite large expense is that of transportation. Products from large farms typically supply large markets and are usually not at small farmers markets. In order for the food to be transported from the farm to the supermarket, they have to use fuel. Not only is this costing them much more, but it is also affecting the environment. On the contrary, small farms typically sell their produce at farmers markets or at their farm itself. This is not only conserving them money, but it is also conserving fossil fuels. Another economic factor in organic farming, in general, is that organic food is typically more expensive that its non organic counterpart. This happens all too often simply because people are allowed to smoke in public. Numerous individuals are addicted to smoking cigarettes and do not have any consideration for those around them when they make the decision to smoke. People that smoke cigarettes have made their choice to subject themselves to the many health risks that smoking can have on their body. However, many individuals have made the choice not to smoke cigarettes because they do not want to subject themselves to many of the health risks that smoking can have. Nevertheless, they are still required to deal with these things when others choose to smoke cigarettes in a public place. How is that just? Non smokers should not be forced to deal with all the issues that can arise from breathing in cigarettesmoke or dealing with all their clothes smelling like smoke simply for the reason that someone chose to smoke in a public place. Smoking cigarettes does not only impact the individual that is smoking, it impacts everyone and everything around them. Smoking cigarettes in public places should be banned. Individuals that smoke cigarettes in public places might become a bad example for children. Many parents enjoy taking their children to the mall, park, and the even the pool. However, when a parent takes their children to these places, the probability of them spotting an individual smoking a cigarette is great. Young children might still have a challenging time with knowing the difference between right and wrong. Through Janie, the main character, the use of the pear tree, the horizon and the road, and the storm help cultivate her romantic journey. Her dream under the pear tree helps set the standard and expectation for her three marriages. The horizon represents unknown things that are to come in her journey. The road symbolizes the bridge between Janie s reality and her dreams. The storm represents the ever present chaos that is in nature. In addition, the symbolism is strengthened as it is depicted through Janie s point of view. Janie s dream under the pear tree symbolizes her desire for love. The earliest memory she recalls during her story to Pheoby was spending every minute that she could steal from her chores under that tree for the last three days (10). As she lies there, Hurston uses vivid and direct language to portray Janie s thoughts about sexuality with phrases such as snowy virginity of the bloom (10). The Bindi, which is loosely known as the Tika , Pottu , Sindoor , Tilak , Tilakam , and Kumkum (Das, 2014) is a decorative dot that was traditionally worn by Hindu women in the middle of the forehead (Antony, 2010). Bindi has been interpreted throughout India in ways of having spiritual devotions in relation to the Hindureligionand is also an indication of one being married. BEfore this time period the globe was only connected in the eastern hemisphere and places were not as open and involved with one another everywhere. After this time period trade of materials, people, and crops became more prominent and new things were introduced to new areas, this was mainly due to the introduction of water based trade and the introduction of the Americas to the rest of the globalized world. 4.1.1 The global trade network introduced after 1500 CE affected the pre existing trade routes only in that there was a new trade network that was becoming prominent so some other trade routes started to get used less and by different people. An example of this would be how the Europeans did not travel on the Silk Road as often because they had a new means of transportation and trade that took them to another part of the world. But overall there was not an extremely large impact on the pre existing trade routes in the world. 4.1.11 A The development and improvement of maritime tools such as compasses, boats, and maps made the transoceanic European trade and travel possible. The purpose of the study is to pinpoint factors that facilitate and/or hinder successful medication administration, which targets on three integral parts: nursepractices and workarounds, medication administration workflow, and nature of interruptions and distractions during medication administration. In effect, the findings showed three interrelated themes that facilitated successful medication administration in some situations, but also acted as barriers in others. These interrelated themes include (1) system configurations and features, (2) Behavior types among nurses, and (3) patient interactions. Some system configuration and features acted as physical pressure for parts of the drug round, however, some system effects were partly dependent on nurses inherent behavior, which were grouped as: task focus and patient interaction focused . • 40. Transcendentalism and Deep Ecology Transcendentalism has been linked to the birth of deep ecology, given the emotion and spiritual philosophy that connects the two movements. Both transcendentalism and deep ecology romanticize the natural world, and critique the way industrialization, modernization, and urbanization encroach on ecological and spiritual purity. The eco centric worldview and value system espoused by deep ecology has its roots in transcendentalism (Hicks, n.d.). Both transcendentalists and deep ecologists disparage the ways individuals, communities, and whole cultures present the humanbeing as being entitled to rape and plunder the earth. However critical they were of human activity and stupidity, the transcendentalists were not misanthropes. The transcendentalists advocated for a better world, one that discarded ineffective and corrupt forms of government in favor of a more just and egalitarian society. All were abolitionists, in an era where slavery and sexism were both normative. Emerson advocated material and spiritual self reliance over philanthropy as a means of self empowerment. He also criticized traditional types of philanthropy as having a certain air of quackery, (Emerson, 1842). • 45. This Memo Services As An Evaluation Of Team Vitamin Cв Ђ™S This memo services as an evaluation of team Vitamin C s individual member contributions and performance while drafting a Team Analytical Report (TAR). During week three of the course, the instructor assigned Nate Couturier, Shae Foster, Edward Sereno and myself to team Vitamin C and tasked us with drafting Individual Research Proposals (IRP s) on a topic that would later be the basis for our final project. I chose to make my proposal about flexible work schedules and how companies and employees can both benefit from them. After the instructor approved our IRPs, we were to post them on the group s discussion board so that as a team, we could decide the best topic for the Team Analytical Report (TAR). The next step of the project was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He agreed with the decisions that had been made in his absence, approved and signed the CPPs. Edward Sereno never responded to any of the group posts but eventually signed the contracts. As the project progressed, Edward remained elusive, never responding to group discussions or emails from the team leader, but he did occasionally reply to a few emails from Shae. During the week in which the TAR draft was due, Shae and I agreed that it was in the team s best interest to inform the instructor of Edward s lack of participation. Only then did he begin to participate more regularly, but still continued to miss the agreed upon timeline schedule. Because of this Nate, Shae and I always ended up scrambling to proofread and make any necessary revisions just a few hours before the submission deadline. Edward was responsible for the abstract, introduction and conclusion sections of the report. His contributions revealed a lack of research and were completed at the last minute. As the time management expert, he failed this duty. For any future team projects that Edward might be involved in, I would suggest that he adequately research the topic, participate actively in group discussions and make the necessary personal schedule changes to stay on schedule with the agreed upon timeline. Nate Couturier was absent during the first week of the project, but as I explained earlier, he had an acceptable reason for that. Going forward, he was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Reflection On The Banking And Problem-Posing Methods Of... To future BIS300 students, I have learned a lot during this class, which has helped me grow to be a better writer and facilitator. Thanks to all the work I ve done throughout this class, my writing and writing skills have improved dramatically. As a student, when it comes to writing essays, I have been able to polish my skills in creating ideas. Through working on my artifacts, I have gained even more skills that are going to be useful when I enter the real world working in global business. The part of the artifacts I enjoyed working on the most was writing imaginative letters between the famous Brazilian educator Paulo Freire and myself. We held a deep discussion about the banking and problem posing methods of education. Specifically, I penned a letter from Freire to me explaining why I am in an admissions bubble. I followed that up with a second letter where I appealed that decision to Freire using philosophical arguments aligned with his rationale. In order to truly engage with this assignment, I had to become engrossed in each of our characters and creatively formulate the dialogue between us. Writing from Freire s point of view, I had to think deeply about the motives underlying his problem posing model and why it was important to him. In my response, I then had to relate those theories to the specific context of my own education. Despite the challenging nature of this assignment, it was exciting to write something so different than what I had done before. I am proud ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Postmodern Noir Vs Cyber-Noir Postmodern noir and Cyber noir Across all noir periods there exists a unifying set of traits that link them all together and at the core of that set is the desire to destabilize and unsettle the audience while also portraying a world in which light and dark are in constant battle. As the 21st century furthers technological advancements in the film industry the boundaries of what can be noir become even more blurred, giving way to what many scholars call the post modern neo noir, or postmodern noir era. A fundamental aspect of postmodernism is a propensity to destabilize the genre s realistic grounding. Postmodern film noir involves a fundamental shift in the conception of artistic production in which creativity is no longer conceived in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. Running Club Research Paper Running Club In sixth grade I quit the school band in the middle of my third year to join Running Club. The goal of Running Club was to run a 5k after weeks of practice and I accepted the challenge. Throughout the duration of training, I would find the long runs consistently demanding and a test to my motivation to persevere in the club. One of the coaches, Miss. Ames, was my teacher from the previous year and she ran with me during practice. She constantly encouraged me to push myself a little more every run and to keep practicing. I was frustrated with my performance, but Miss. Ames continued to encourage me. Nevertheless, preparing for that 5k was an eye opening and an overall amazing experience. I turned in my form for RunningClub by the end of the week and was ready to start running. When training began, we ran a few laps around the school and I noticed as the runs came to be longer, I would become tired sooner. Miss. Ames noticed and ran alongside me. During the runs, we would discuss other topics which would distract me from thinking about my performance in the run. Later on, the coaches would time the runners to see our performance. Being timed increased my irritation with my performance; however, Miss. Ames reminded me that I was making progress regardless of what my... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 50. Payroll In Major League Sports Most people think that more money means more success, but that is not always the case in major league sports. In the MLB, some of the teams with higher payrolls don t do nearly as well as some of the teams who have small payrolls. Some think that the game is all about money now, but others think that it is still fair despite the differences in payroll. Major League Baseballteams differ greatly in payroll, and its effects on their record vary. Major League Baseball teams have large differences in payrolls. While there are teams that have payrolls of over 200 million like the Dodgers and Yankees, there are also teams who have less than 50 million like the Marlins and the Astros. The differences in payroll cause blood to boil between teams... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, six of the teams with among the lowest 10 payrolls are within six games of a playoff berth (Nightengale). There is also one team who was in first place, yet had one of the lowest payrolls. That team is the Kansas City Royals, with the tenth lowest payroll at 94.2 million (Nightengale). The Commissioner of baseball, Bud Selig, was euphoric that massive payrolls no longer guarantee success (Nightengale). For example, there was one team in the top five of payroll that qualified for playoffs while the other four did not. In the 2015 season, the Houston Astros, who have one of the smallest payrolls in the MLB, are sitting on top of their division and looking to make a run at the playoffs. The Tampa Bay Rays are another example of how a team who isn t paid as well can have a .500 season.
