Explore How Ian Mcmillan Conveys His Attitudes Towards the...
McMillan uses harsh words throughout the poem to show his grief and remorse at his mothers death.
Words like shatters link with how he is feeling, like everything is broken and cannot be repaired. This
word makes us imagine something broken into lots of tiny pieces which can t be put back together
again, and it helps us to understand how broken and jumbled up he is feeling. The word slap when
talking about the tears (that) slap my torn face insinuates the idea that he is in physical pain, that the
emotional pain he feels is is so strong that he physically hurts.
In the first stanza, we find out about his mothers death. Enjambment is used to speed up the pace of
the poem, and show how quickly someone s whole live can change, like ... Show more content on

McMillan describes his tears to slap his torn face ; as well as slap being a raw and aggressive word,
the way he describes his face as torn perhaps suggests that it was his mother who held him together,
and now, without her, he is broken. This helps us to realise how important his mother was to him,
which makes us sympathise for him a lot and evokes a feeling of empathy when we put ourselves in
his position. McMillan says he feels trapped , like he is trapped by his own emotion and although it s
up to him to find a way out of this dark place, he can t see an escape. This shows how alone and
scared he is feeling knowing his motherr is no longer around and also makes us think how panicked he
must be feeling, as we would be if we were trapped somewhere. The word float makes us think that
McMillan is no longer in control of his emotions, that what he is feeling is unstoppable, but also it
instigates the sense that nothing seems quite normal around him, and that he is detached from reality.
The final stanza is a rhyming couplet that summarises the grief and emptiness and the lack of will to
go on without his mother. Feeling that the story ends just here conveys the idea that there isn t a story
to continue without his mother, showing how depressed McMillan is feeling, like he has reached a
dead end in his

Mr. William Woosley
3 December 2016 Interview with a Vampire When we think of Vampires, majority think of blood
thirsty creatures with no other intention in life, or should I say in death, than to kill and feed upon any
and all humans without reasoning. For over a century the cinematic vampire was known as the carriers
of disease (Meehan 90). They live in the darkness, wore capes, turned into bats, and resided in old
historic castles. We think of them having no purpose except for being foul, violent, and fearless.
Interview with the Vampire (1976), brought a new direction in vampire fiction, and established Anne

Pets In Human Life Essay
Pets, these animals that share their lives with us do much more than one normally thinks of. They wait
for us watching in the window, give one licks of joy, and give us unconditional love are some of the
common joys of having a family pet. In a short time they become member of the family. These are
many reasons one loves to share their space with a creator not of the same species as humans.
However, there are some other added benefits to having these members of the family. Sharing one s
life with pets help us to maintain a healthier physical, mental, and emotional aspect in life.
The first added benefit of having pet as part of the family is that pets help us to live and maintain a
healthy life style. One knows that these companions need exercise to stay in good health and since
they can t walk themselves, they motivate their human companions to take them for a walk. This is
one of the obvious ways that pets help one to live healthier lives. However, there are many other ways
that pets improves one s life. In research posted on the Jamanetwork.com it states that, Exposure to 2
or more dogs or cats in the first year of life may reduce subsequent risk of allergic sensitization to
multiple allergens during childhood. By being exposed to these family pets at an early age can help to
reduce future allergy problems. These are good reason why to include a pet into the family. One might
think that by introducing animals into the household that it will introduce diseases and have

Battle Of Britain Advantages And Disadvantages
In the summer and fall of 1940, the first major air battle of history took place after the Fall of France
in World War 2. The British fought to defend their skies against the force of the Germans. The Battle
of Britain also marked the first major defeat of Hitler s military forces during the war, with air
superiority seen as the key to victory. England and Germany viewed air power in different ways.
Germany viewed air power as support for ground forces and had no strategic bomber development.
Meanwhile, the British had an independent military service called the Royal Air Force (RAF). The
RAF had a fighter command and a bomber command. Operation Sealion was the German plan to
invade England. They gathered ships and barges in Northern France ports to transport their invasion
forces across the English Channel by ferries. Along with this, three Luftflotte, (air fleets) were
assigned to the operation. What the Germans needed was to neutralize the Royal Air Force and gain
air superiority in order to successfully invade Great Britain. The task was given to Hermann Göring,
Air Marshall of the German Luftwaffe. However, there was one downside to this operation; the RAF
must be neutralized before autumn storms made the crossing of the English Channel impossible. The
advantages and disadvantages of both the British and Germans played key components in The Battle
of Britain. The British had too few high performing Spitfires and too many Hurricanes. They did not
have enough trained

Pumpkin Eater Analysis
It is interesting to notice how Sandra Cisneros uses the image of pain in her dramatic monologue
Pumpkin Eater to show how the narrator s husband drastically pushed the narrator to an extent. She
became sick of their relationship, growing numbness to the pain that he makes her face. Sandra
Cisneros writes Pumpkin Eater , based on a nursery rhyme called Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater . The
hidden meaning of the nursery rhyme is that there is a cheating wife, who is murdered by her husband,
then hid in a pumpkin shell, because he couldn t hold control of her. This poem gives the same vibe of
the meaning that the nursery rhyme gives out. The difference between this poem and the nursery
rhyme is that the narrator s husband is the one who can t be held in control of. The wife felt trapped in
this predicament with her husband where I assume as if she felt useless because her effort on fighting
for him wouldn t make a change to his actions. She uses terms such as anarchist, machete, and trouble,
making a statement as if she is convincing herself that she is not an advocate of such things and it is
her reason for bringing up Saint Lucy, in order to convince herself (and readers) otherwise. It is
implementing a soft, angelic tone that contradicts being rebellious and fierce. She says, I keep inside a
pumpkin shell. There I do very well. Shut a blind eye to where my pumpkin eater roams (ll. 19 22).
The pumpkin shell is the narrator safe place, where she acts naïve when the pumpkin eater, her
husband, is running around with other women. The husband is referred as the pumpkin eater because
even though he not physically killing her like the nursery rhyme, he definitely is killing her
emotionally. The narrator says, I m no hysteric, terrorist, emotional anarchist (ll. 16 18), referring to
how she going to let him go about his business without being an emotional crazy wreck, nor feeling
the need to have to call him in the middle of the night while he out. It s interpreted that each stanza in
this monologue is an explanation of her current predicament; convincing her husband that she is not
the one in their relationship that is being unfaithful, I m not the kind of woman who telephone s in the
middle of the night, who told

Government Corruption In Nigeria
Several factors contribute to a country s insecurity and decline of a country s inability to effectively
enact policies that benefit, protect and ensure the wellbeing of a country s citizens. Consequentially, if
a country fails to outline and properly address problems within its own domestic domain, it stands to
reason that the country has not successfully securitized the issue, which permits its sovereignty to be
threatened. For the focus of this argument, this paper will examine the ineffectual securitization of
governmental corruption in Nigeria through deliberate neglect of malpractices in government and the
implementation of poor policies and norms that pervade the system and create insecurity, instability,
threats and hinder the welfare of the populace. To begin this examination, an understanding of the
issue is necessary to receive a full appreciation of why Nigeria s failures in securitizing the issue of
corruption is important to the argument. This unsuccessful securitization is possible because within
government corruption, while being tied particularly to the act of bribery, is a general term covering
misuse of authority as a result of considerations of personal gain, which need not be monetary (Bayley
720). Correspondingly, it is imperative for this overarching argument to comprehend this concept
because the quote allows for the conclusion that corruption influences the root of decision making by
enticing leaders and policy makers into acting in ways that

ISTJ Character Analysis
According to my test result, ISTJ, I am a person who values loyalty, tradition, factual information, and
structure. As an ISTJ, I am hardworking, logical, extremely observant and a natural leader. My
strengths as a Duty Fulfiller include being a good listener and spender, the ability to digest
constructive criticism, to endure conflict without emotional upheaval, and to allocate punishment
when necessary. Because of this, I can achieve almost any goal I set for myself. How reassuring! On
the opposite end of the spectrum, ISTJs typically are not comfortable with expressing emotion to
others and are not naturally in tune with other people s feelings. We also dislike change, abstract
theory, and nonsensical work. I cannot agree with my supposed lack of ability to sense other people s
feeling, in fact, I find this to be contrary to one of the other ISTJ traits, the trait of being extremely
observant. I also think everyone has little patience for nonsensical work. My weaknesses include a
propensity to think I am always right (which I am) and a tendency to not show enough appreciation
for my loved ones. The later has been made abundantly clear throughout my life; my mother used to

A 401(k) plan, so named for the section of the Internal Revenue Code describing the requirements, is a
savings plan in which employees are allowed to defer income up to a $12,000 maximum (which
increases by $1,000 a year from 2003 to 2006, with amounts indexed for inflation thereafter)
(Milkovich and Newman, 2008). Employers typically match employee savings at a rate of 50 cents on
the dollar. Defined contribution plans are more popular than defined benefit plans in both small and
large companies (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). Historically these plans are faster to vest (the
companies matched share of the contribution permanently shifts over to employee ownership, and
they are more portable job hopping employees can take their pension accruals along to the next job)
(Milkovich and Newman, 2008). The second type of plan is an employee stock ownership plan
(ESOP) (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). In a basic ESOP a company makes a tax deductible
contribution of stock shares or cash to a trust (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). The trust then allocates
company stock (or stock bought with cash contributions) to participating employee accounts
(Milkovich and Newman, 2008). The amount allocated is based on employee earnings (Milkovich and

the employees receive cash at retirement based upon the stock value at that time (Milkovich and

Analysis Of Black Hair By Gary Soto
Black Hair by Gary Soto is a three stanza, free verse poem that observes the life of a young Mexican
boy and his admiration for Hector Moreno, a Mexican baseball figure. The speaker is immediately
identified as the young boy as he starts to reminisce about when he was eight years old. The boy goes
on to talk about how he thought of himself at this age, as well as Hector and his parents. He would
watch the baseball games and look up to Hector, copying him, and addressing how this win for Hector
would be a win for him and all the brown people . The audience isn t addressed as a literal part of the
poem, so we can imagine it from a bird s eye point of view. The poem takes place within the mind of
the former boy, reflecting on his time among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So how might the author demonstrate his piece and how do these tools affect the way in which we
understand his overall message? To follow, I will explore the ways in which the author chose to
deliver his message and which tools make this successful from the audience s perspective. An
immediate choice I notice from the author is his selective diction. Soto uses a lot of strong diction like
dirty, torch, terror, flared, and twisting, but none captivate the character as well as when he uses the
word brilliant . When Soto uses the word brilliant in stanza one and three, he does not mean to say
intelligent or excellent. Instead, Soto uses this word to mean something more with a literal and
physical meaning, like how he states towards the end of the poem, In the bleachers I was brilliant with
my body/Waving players in and stomping my feet (Soto 21 22), connecting it to the body and its
actions. This brings the character alive and gives the boy a feeling of acceptance and power,
connecting him with the community and success he was becoming a part of. Soto s diction led me to
notice the radiance this word gave the boy, which exposed the theme of lightness and darkness,
symbolizing the child s journey through hope. The

Failures Of The World Is Not An Easy Place
The world is not an easy place to get by in. Whether it s the physicality of the world itself or the forces
of nature, there is so much variation in the breadths of danger present that survival is difficult if not
impossible without the ability to dynamically respond to these challenges. Simplicity, though robust in
its nature, could not possibly thrive in a world like ours. Life, it seems, is up to the challenge though,
and the response is more than just a single answer. Rather, the life found on earth is so diverse, so
different from one another; it would fly in the face of the challenge presented. That said, none of the
forms of life could be complex enough to avoid mistakes. Missteps that lead to damage and damage to
failed survival. What is seen from those mistakes is not an acceptance of failure and an inability to go
on, but rather a dogged determination to recover from and overcome. The complexity needed to
survive poses a problem as the process to recover becomes just as intricate. So intricate that it could
not possibly be fully covered in all its depths with just a handful of pages. However, this paper will
attempt to cover in a more general manner what occurs and point out some details of the more
complex processes occurring. The goal of this paper is to explore the method by which a cutaneous

Edelstein The Great Terror Summary
The Terror s Origins The nation of France following the approval of the rights of man was a country in
great turmoil. The popular revolution had received what they had so desired, that being a
constitutional monarchy with a set of bylaws that would both protect the people of France and hinder
the power of the monarch. A second revolution would take center stage and hijack the revolution and
push for more radical ideas and push for the stern punishment of the king and those around him
following his flight. The aspect of the revolution that would have the most profound impact on both
the nation and the terror, would be that of the Jacobin club coming into power in France. The
collimation of both Jacobin ideals and having the power to institute these ideas would go on to lead to

Edelstein points to the new government as being the culprits to terror, which is best stated as It
remains to be explained why the Jacobins unceasingly widened their circle of hostility, from the king

to emphasis the misdeeds of the government and specifically details the shift towards approved
institutional violence against those suspected enemies as stated Instead of preserving the rights and
lives of the many, natural right enabled and encouraged State violence to occur on a formidable level

History of the Old Testament of the Bible Essay
Studying the Old Testament is not as straightforward as some may think. Being able to recall stories of
the Bible does not necessarily mean you have a thorough grasp on the history of Israel and the
surrounding nations. Some people read and discuss the Bible without a solid understanding of the
history and social issues that were going on at the time. Being able to relate to the stories in the Bible
and struggle with some of the same problems faced by the people in the Bible gives you a greater
appreciation for the works in the Bible. I feel that having a firm understanding of all the related history
of Israel gives a student of the Old Testament a far greater understanding of why these stories are in

This is concept that we should become familiar with and understand. Hardly anything in the Bible is

Estragon In Waiting For Godot

despite frequent suggestions that they part? The dramatist and poet Samuel Beckett, born in 1906 in

Samuel Beckett has been attributed the label of the last modernist as well as the first post modernist.
His plays are filled with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot 1, which he
composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage setting. Godot is
one of Beckett s most controversial plays and well known in the international literary world. The play

The games are a welcome distraction from the uncertainty of waiting, Vladimir and Estragon both feel
relieved when they find a game to play. Didi and Gogo seem relatively happy and content playing
their games to occupy them during the long wait. Svalkvist argued in her essay; Vladimir and
Estragon create a foundation of values, a self, by choosing their actions and beliefs, i.e. choosing to
continue to wait for Godot and to play games with each other. (14). By playing their games they
simultaneously create meaning and make choices. The men frequently find themselves in situations in
which they must make a choice; the most compelling choice being to stay put and continue to wait for

their games are also being used by Vladimir and Estragon to escape the reality of the situation; to
escape this anguish. (Svalkvist 15). The highly ironic relationship Vladimir and Estragon have with

architectures, protocols, algorithms and applications have been proposed and implemented for energy
efficiency. The efficiency of these networks is highly dependent on routing protocols which directly
affecting the network life time. Cluster formation in sensor network is one of the most popular
technique for reducing the energy consumption and expand the lifetime of the sensor network. There
are various cluster formation techniques used in wireless sensor network. In which, Particle Swarm
Optimization (PSO) is simple and efficient optimization algorithm, which is used to form the energy
efficient clusters with optimal selection of cluster head. The comparison is made with the well known
cluster based protocols developed for WSN, LEACH (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy)
and LEACH C as well as the traditional K means clustering algorithm. A comparative analysis shown
in the paper and come to the conclusion based on some parameters.

American Education Reform
Throughout history, United States of America has been one of the most vigorous economies in the
world. With the most advanced military and serves as a beacon of hope and peace. It is obvious that
one would expect United States of America to be at the top of the lists when it comes to education but
unfortunately, that is not true. Day by day, our economy is becoming more and more depended on
technical notions which leaves us behind in math and science in the world. Our government spends
about 10,000 dollars every year on each student in the public education system (Lessons in
Education). The solution to our failing school system is not to spend more money, but to spend the
money wisely. Not surprisingly, students with high performing teachers develop three times better
than students with poor performing teachers. Many agree ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the United States began to reform the teacher tenure, increase the number of charter schools, and
promote better parenting and family values, our education system can be fixed. The success of
American Students lies in the hands of teachers. Since, this is such a great responsibility, we have to
make sure that we are employing the right teacher for not only the students growth but also our nation
s growth. Hard working teachers should be appreciated and celebrated and neglectful teachers should
be fired. Unfortunately, the firing of teachers is not possible. In most states, there is no legitimate
evaluation process to be met for the teaching position and after a few years, the teaching jobs becomes
permanent. The most important step in reforming tenure is to have an effective and an accurate
evaluation process. The No Child Left

Lupus Case Study
Diagnosis of lupus is complex. From the appearance of the first symptoms to an adequate diagnosis,
on average it takes six years.
Women are 10 times more likely to develop lupus than men. African American women aged 45 to 65
have the highest risk of developing lupus (Sacks, J J, 1). SLE accounts for 70% of all cases of lupus.
Approximately 10 to 15% of patients with lupus will have a premature death related to lupus ( Lupus

suppress the progression on the disease, treatments to address complications cause by SLE, and
treatments to relieve patients from the discomfort. There is no known etiology for SLE; therefore,
there are no prevention methods for SLE. The recent improvement of the understanding of
autoimmune diseases; in general, has helped improve prognosis. Faster and more precise diagnosis,
leading to earlier treatment in suppressing the progression of the disease is allowing more patients to
live a normal life span. Also, the 2011 FDA approval of the biologic drug called Belimumab has
contributed to the improvement of prognosis. More research directed towards the understanding
autoimmune disorder is needed. Unfortunately, the current knowledge is not enough to provide
adequate and timely diagnosis. Due to the tight commonality among autoimmune diseases, a thorough
understanding of the immune system is required to develop more effective treatments and a cure for

Japanese Internment Camps Discrimination
The Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor in 1941 sparked war with the United States and spread fear
that Japanese Americans would aid Japan during World War II. This is a quote from an article that
shared both opinions on the Japanese American internment camps. The first This provoked fear in the
American people, causing them to remove 110,000 Japanese Americans from the west coast of the
United States and forcing them to live in internment camps. In my opinion I believe that it was a
unconstitutional and racist action that the Americans took.
The first reason that I believe that the internment camps were unnecessary is they were a racist act
against the Japanese Americans. In the article it states Our unjust imprisonment was the result of two
closely related emotions: racism and hysteria, says Edison Tominaro Uno, a former internee.Uno says

Though I do believe that it was a racist act I can understand why America would take precautions to

Americans loyalty to the united states. In chapter 5 it states In fact more that 25,000 Japanese

Resolving Two Alternative Dispute Resolution
This paper is to critically discuss two alternative dispute resolution processes, which are the
negotiation and mediation. The importance of these two alternative dispute resolution processes is
mainly related to various noticeable benefits associated comparing to the traditional litigation process
(Ruh, 2015). Specifically, it is to discuss the different strategies for negotiation, which can be
applicable to the dispute between Johnny, Sally, and David. Thus, David is to be advised of the most
effective and efficient negotiation strategy he should use based on the comparison between different
negotiation strategies in terms of respective benefits and drawbacks. In addition, it is also to advise
David, Johnny, and Sally regarding the benefits and costs of using a mediator, in the context of the
dispute between them.
Negotiation is one of the commonly used alternative dispute resolution processes, where different
strategies can be implemented. Brett (2015) states that the determining goals would be a direct factor
to determine which strategy to be used. This means that the disputed parties should take into account
of the relative importance of substantive outcomes and relational outcomes in order to determine
whether the collaborative, accommodating, competitive, or avoidance strategy should be implemented
in order to help them achieve their goals (Brett, 2015). Therefore, each of the strategies is not suitable

Conceptual Analysis Of Public Disclosure Working

5.1 Information Quality
The problem that exists in Pakistan under the current system is the lack of environmental information
that could create a drive towards improvement. There exists the classic principal agent problem with
regulators needing good data about firm s pollution levels, but the firms do not have a medium or
drive of providing such information. This information asymmetry is addressed through introducing
instruments such as the TRI or PROPER, which provides a platform for information collection and

There are several themes displayed in Henry V; however, the main one is the character of a good king.
Being a good leader, intelligent, focused, and inspiring to his men, Henry represents the ideal king.
The play also hints that the qualities that make one a good king are not necessarily the same qualities a
good person possesses. For example, before Henry invaded France, he commanded his troops to
refrain from taking things from the French churches. However, ignoring this command, Henry s
friend, Bardolph, robbed a church. Fluellen explained to Henry, [there is] one that is to be executed for
robbing a church, one Bardolph, if your majesty know the man: his face is all bubukles, and whelks,
and knobs, and flames o fire (Henry V, 3.5.1565 1659). Henry said to him in response, We would have

nothing compelled from the villages, nothing taken but paid for, none of the French upbraided or
abused in disdainful language; (3.5.572 1576). Although Burdolph is Henry s friend, Henry knows
that those who disobey the law must be punished without exception, so he allows his friend to be
hanged. This demonstrates how being ruthless is actually an important quality for kings to have. Being

Permanent Markers Essay
Permanent markers are useful tools in many different fields, including everyday activities at home,
and they have helped us advance as a society. While it may be foolish to give such a minimally noted
item such credit, the proof stands. However, though important, most understand little of how these
common items function. The improvements they have made and led to, and the chemicals involved,
all play a major role in the evolution of the permanent marker. The chemistry involved in the making
of permanent markers is actually quite simple. They contain the natural chemical Xylene, a solvent
such as: alcohol, ethanol or isopropanol, ethylene glycol monobutyl. It also has at least propanol,
butanol, and diacetone; also polymer or resin is added to promote adhesion, it acts as a binder in this
way. To reach the well known end product, a plastic mold will need to be made, this is necessary to
create the container or the marker. The tip of the marker is then made by mixing a powder with water,
and then it is molded into the desired shape then baked into its pointed or flat form. Finally, place a

Discovery Of The Cuban Culture
CChristopher Columbus discovered Cuba in 1492 and claimed it for Spain. Columbus described Cuba
as The most lovely that eyes have seen. (Gall, 170) Since that time Cuba has gone through a
tremendous amount of conflict over the last 500 years. They have endured war after war and foreign
occupation, which has caused many Cubans to flee the country looking for asylum. Even with such a
dramatic history the culture of the Cuban people live on not only in Cuba, but also in America. So how
do we determine how to properly communicate with people of the Cuban culture as not to offend them
and be considerate of their culture. We must first start off with the evolution of the culture through
their history.
For such a small country the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Castro passed a reform act, which limited private land ownership, confiscated all foreign owned
investments, and established what would be a relationship with the Soviet Union. In April, CIA trained
Cuban exiles staged the Bay of Pigs invasion, a failed attempt to topple the Castro regime. Later that
year, Castro proclaimed Cuba a socialist country. The following year, the Cuban Missile Crisis started
when the United States discovered Soviet missiles in Cuba. The crisis ended when the Soviets agreed
to remove the missiles and, in exchange, the United States promised never to invade Cuba. By the end
of the 1970s, the economy began to slip and, aggravated by political oppression, life on the island
became intolerable for many. Since then, numerous Cubans have sought to exile themselves from the
island. Today, Cuba remains the only communist government in the Western hemisphere. After the
collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s, an already struggling Cuban economy took a turn for
the worse. Facing civil unrest in the wake of an all but collapsed economy, the Cuban government has
been forced to dabble in capitalism and reverse its position on tourism. In February 2008 Fidel Castro
announced he was stepping down as president in favor of his brother Raúl. It was the end of an era.
(Gall, 170)
Even after all this, Cubans are said to be known for their warmth, friendliness, sense of humor, wit and
resilience. (Gall, 170) They tend to greet others with

Chain Store Essay
Second, and most importantly to me, is the quality and high standards that chain stores possess. In my
personal experience, chain stores have a decent amount of staff available to assist you with knowledge
of product and great customer service. In the few local shops I ve stepped into, I have rarely been
greeted or assisted unless I managed to chase down a dour looking employee to begrudgingly answer
my questions. In Postrel s essay, she hits the nail on the head by asserting the idea that whether a store
is local or a chain, they are still quite similar in products they sell; A hardware store was a hardware
store, a pharmacy a pharmacy. (p. 347) The only true difference to me is the quality of the customer
service and the values the store possesses. In Augusta there are few local stores I enjoy shopping in,
although the ones I chose to indulge in are typically in our downtown area, and have exceeded my
expectations. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many times I have walked into a local clothing store, only to walk right back out after balking at the
ridiculously high prices for a shirt. More times than not, I have gone into an H M or Forever21 and
found a similar shirt at a much lower price and happily purchased it. Postrel says in her essay, Chains
do more than bargain down prices from suppliers or divide fixed costs across a lot of units. They
rapidly spread economic discovery (p. 347) Chain stores last much longer in Augusta than the local
ones do it seems; rarely have I seen a locally store last longer than a year. Stores like Walmart carry
virtually everything a person could imagine, and all at a fixed, low cost. Some also are able to price
match coupons and other items, which local stores cannot

The Examined Life By Slajov Zizek
In the film The Examined Life, a compelling documentary directed by Astra Taylor, eight powerful
philosophers meander around places that are particularly special to them, as well as their ideas. Issues
discussed range from cosmopolitanism to truth, and each philosopher is given 10 minutes to share
their thoughts. Although not enough time to really connect with the philosophers, some concrete
points are made. Slajov Zizek discusses ecology and our idealization of nature, and the critical
importance and implications of how we live as humans in unison with the environment. Slajov Zizek
is filmed at a trash dump, very significant to the argument he is about to make. One of the first things
he tells viewers is that we need more alienation from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Zizek, if we can vision nature as existing as a series of catastrophes rather then viewing
it as balanced, then we may begin to acknowledge the implications of how we live symbiotically with
the environment. He stresses that as humans we must begin to recognize the changes in the
environment and adapt with them. His attempt at a resolution is to isolate ourselves from nature even
more than we already have. He believes that if we can create our own environment, then catastrophes
will be irrelevant and our disavowal will be warranted. We should develop, I think, a much more
terrifying new abstract materialism, a kinds of mathematical universe where there is nothing. There
are just formulas, technical forms and so on. If we can find beauty in trash itself that is a success. If
we can learn to love the earth for what it is, that is also a success. This comes as a result of additions
that we must work to make in order to greater the success of the environment. That s the true love of
the world. Because what is love? Love is not idealization. Love means you accept a person...with all
its failures, stupidities, and ugly points. And nonetheless, the person s absolute for you [...] But you
see perfection in imperfection itself. And that s how we should learn to love the world. The key to
Zizek s ideology is love through change. We as people must begin to adapt and accept the world as it
comes, and care for it as if it were

Progression of Time and Community in the Works of Johnson...
The future of society is an often unpredictable and unpleasant topic due to the many variables which
effect it. In The Lost Island and in The City of the End of Things , the future is depicted as something
detrimental to the society each story represents. In Pauline Johnson s short story, The Lost Island , this
concept is expressed in the visions given by the Medicine Man, who foretells the oppression of his
people by the arrival of the colonizers. In Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things ,
this concept manifests through the downfall of greater human society in favour of a more robotic era.
This essay focuses on how these two texts exemplify the variable nature of the future by focusing on
the harmful possibilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After this point in the story, the medicine man returned to his people and told them to look for the
island before dying in his sleep; however, nobody could ever find the island (Johnson 235). The main
character shares his own desire to discover it when he says, twice I have seen its shadow...[it] fell
across my canoe, across my face, and across the waters beyond...there is something on that island that
I want. I shall look for it until I die, for it is there (Johnson 233). He continues to search for the island
in order to obtain those long lost traits, for himself and to uphold the former status of his people. Yet
the story ends with the notion that such a reclamation may never occur. The main character claims he
has been touched by the shadow of the island, but only the shadow (Johnson 235). This indicates that
he and his people may only ever have the memories of the past to haunt them as they progress. In this
way the story is indicating that the modern society the Aboriginal people thrive in is already stagnant
and dead. Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , depicts the future of humanity
as a hellish reality, where human existence is met with suffering. Human society itself is absent in
favour of a technologically advanced, robotic era. This apocalyptic portrayal of the global community
produces powerful, demonic imagery in order to depict the downward

A Student At Hampton University
I wish I could say it still surprises me when I mentioned to people that I attended an HBCU
(Historically Black College/University), some of them have no idea they exist. Often, it turns into a
conversation starter, which usually evolves into a meaningful educational moment about the history of
HBCU s. However, occasionally I find myself becoming frustrated when ask the question why in a
way that questions the validity and or need for HBCU s in 2016. As a student at Hampton University I
did not fully realize the impact it would have on me, but looking back, it is clear to me that those
experiences have shaped who I ve grown into today, and strongly influence to my desire to pursue a
career in environmental science education.
My first class in Marine and Environmental Science department at Hampton University turned out be
different than I expected. Instead of a large lecture hall full of students, I entered a small classroom
with approximately 15 students. It was a pleasant surprise to see the small group of students, who
shared a cultural resemblance and has similar interests. Up until then, typically when I told someone I
wanted to be a marine scientist, the response was oh that nice or so you want to play with fish? So
being at Hampton with likeminded students that I could relate to made the transition form high school
to college easier than I anticipated. There was a feeling of communities that allowed me to feel free to
be myself.
In contrast, my first day

Columbian Exchange Essay
The Columbian Exchange is about exchanging goods from the New World to the Old World and vise
versa. During the Columbian Exchange, Europeans brought food, animals, technology, and also
diseases to the New World. The New World had many great qualities such as farming land for crops
and large vast of land for animals to roam freely and also to reproduce.
The diseases that were brought over to the New World , includes Syphilis, Polio, Hepatitis,
Encephalitis, and many other types of illnesses brought by the European. This had a great effect on the
Indian population, the Indians started to contract the disease that the European had brought over and it
was easily spreadable because of the air that they breathe and also by touching one another ... Show

When the Columbian Exchange didn t happen yet many of the Native Americans had to do all of the
labor by themselves without any use of animals. After the Columbian Exchange, Columbus brought
over horses, dogs, cattle, goats, and chicken and it provided the Natives with a new source of labor
and also with a new source of food. Many of these animals carried diseases and humans were dying.
Those diseases that the animals carried with them came to the New World. Cattle were very profitable
because you could eat their meat and also use their hides as a blanket. The cattle hides were then
shipped back to Europe to be sold as well as the meat. Cattle have a downfall because they were
destroying Native American crops by eating them or by just simply stepping on them. Black rats
carried bubonic plague and typhus; the black rats came from the Old World to the New World and that
plague spread to the colonist. The plague also killed off some of the smaller animals that belong to the
Native Americans. Horses also land a great impact in the new world for Europeans; they used horses
to scare the Native Americans because the natives didn t know what a horse was and what they do.
Horses have lots of power and compared to the other animals the horses are much faster and have a
bolder look and that is why the Natives are so frightened of

The Ischemic Stroke
First I feel that, it is important to understand the clinical manifestation of the different strokes. The
Ischemic stroke can cause a wide range of neurologic symptoms depending on the location and the
size of the effective area. Patients may present with symptoms, such as, numbness or weakness of the
face, arms, legs, more so, one side of the body, changes in moody or behavior, trouble with speaking
or understanding speech, visual disturbances, having difficulty in walking, dizziness or loss of balance
and sudden server headaches. Hemorrhagic stroke has, also, presents with the same clinical
manifestation as a Ischemic stroke, however, most patients complain of server headache.

If an online casino game wants to find a fan base these days it needs to be multi faceted. It has been
said a thousand times; there simply is no room for one trick ponies in such a competitive landscape.
Knowing that players now make certain demands when it comes to new online slots titles, many

As more developers take up the 3D slots cause in 2015, it has taken something special from the
established names in order to sign up.
An Offer You Can t Refuse
The inspiration for The Slotfather is fairly evident. The Godfather was considered not only one of the
greatest films of the 1970s, but one of the greatest films of all time. The adaptation of Mario Puzo s
novel is considered truly iconic and has proven to a great inspiration for Betsofts s latest 3D slots title.
The Slotfather is not only easy on the eye; it pushes the gangster s of days gone by into the limelight.
While it may have found its inspiration from within The Godfather film franchise, it is decisively
more light hearted in nature. The on screen characters have a cartoon look that makes them easy on
the eye. What makes this game truly special from a design standpoint is the games unbelievable
attention to detail. Every single aspect of the game features flawless animation, the likes of which you

  • 2. Explore How Ian Mcmillan Conveys His Attitudes Towards the... McMillan uses harsh words throughout the poem to show his grief and remorse at his mothers death. Words like shatters link with how he is feeling, like everything is broken and cannot be repaired. This word makes us imagine something broken into lots of tiny pieces which can t be put back together again, and it helps us to understand how broken and jumbled up he is feeling. The word slap when talking about the tears (that) slap my torn face insinuates the idea that he is in physical pain, that the emotional pain he feels is is so strong that he physically hurts. In the first stanza, we find out about his mothers death. Enjambment is used to speed up the pace of the poem, and show how quickly someone s whole live can change, like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McMillan describes his tears to slap his torn face ; as well as slap being a raw and aggressive word, the way he describes his face as torn perhaps suggests that it was his mother who held him together, and now, without her, he is broken. This helps us to realise how important his mother was to him, which makes us sympathise for him a lot and evokes a feeling of empathy when we put ourselves in his position. McMillan says he feels trapped , like he is trapped by his own emotion and although it s up to him to find a way out of this dark place, he can t see an escape. This shows how alone and scared he is feeling knowing his motherr is no longer around and also makes us think how panicked he must be feeling, as we would be if we were trapped somewhere. The word float makes us think that McMillan is no longer in control of his emotions, that what he is feeling is unstoppable, but also it instigates the sense that nothing seems quite normal around him, and that he is detached from reality. The final stanza is a rhyming couplet that summarises the grief and emptiness and the lack of will to go on without his mother. Feeling that the story ends just here conveys the idea that there isn t a story to continue without his mother, showing how depressed McMillan is feeling, like he has reached a dead end in his ... For over a century the cinematic vampire was known as the carriers of disease (Meehan 90). They live in the darkness, wore capes, turned into bats, and resided in old historic castles. • 5. Pets In Human Life Essay Pets, these animals that share their lives with us do much more than one normally thinks of. They wait for us watching in the window, give one licks of joy, and give us unconditional love are some of the common joys of having a family pet. In a short time they become member of the family. These are many reasons one loves to share their space with a creator not of the same species as humans. However, there are some other added benefits to having these members of the family. Sharing one s life with pets help us to maintain a healthier physical, mental, and emotional aspect in life. The first added benefit of having pet as part of the family is that pets help us to live and maintain a healthy life style. One knows that these companions need exercise to stay in good health and since they can t walk themselves, they motivate their human companions to take them for a walk. This is one of the obvious ways that pets help one to live healthier lives. However, there are many other ways that pets improves one s life. In research posted on the Jamanetwork.com it states that, Exposure to 2 or more dogs or cats in the first year of life may reduce subsequent risk of allergic sensitization to multiple allergens during childhood. The British fought to defend their skies against the force of the Germans. The Battle of Britain also marked the first major defeat of Hitler s military forces during the war, with air superiority seen as the key to victory. England and Germany viewed air power in different ways. Germany viewed air power as support for ground forces and had no strategic bomber development. Meanwhile, the British had an independent military service called the Royal Air Force (RAF). The RAF had a fighter command and a bomber command. Operation Sealion was the German plan to invade England. They gathered ships and barges in Northern France ports to transport their invasion forces across the English Channel by ferries. Along with this, three Luftflotte, (air fleets) were assigned to the operation. What the Germans needed was to neutralize the Royal Air Force and gain air superiority in order to successfully invade Great Britain. The task was given to Hermann Göring, Air Marshall of the German Luftwaffe. However, there was one downside to this operation; the RAF must be neutralized before autumn storms made the crossing of the English Channel impossible. The advantages and disadvantages of both the British and Germans played key components in The Battle of Britain. The British had too few high performing Spitfires and too many Hurricanes. They did not have enough trained ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Pumpkin Eater Analysis It is interesting to notice how Sandra Cisneros uses the image of pain in her dramatic monologue Pumpkin Eater to show how the narrator s husband drastically pushed the narrator to an extent. She became sick of their relationship, growing numbness to the pain that he makes her face. Sandra Cisneros writes Pumpkin Eater , based on a nursery rhyme called Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater . The hidden meaning of the nursery rhyme is that there is a cheating wife, who is murdered by her husband, then hid in a pumpkin shell, because he couldn t hold control of her. This poem gives the same vibe of the meaning that the nursery rhyme gives out. The difference between this poem and the nursery rhyme is that the narrator s husband is the one who can t be held in control of. The wife felt trapped in this predicament with her husband where I assume as if she felt useless because her effort on fighting for him wouldn t make a change to his actions. She uses terms such as anarchist, machete, and trouble, making a statement as if she is convincing herself that she is not an advocate of such things and it is her reason for bringing up Saint Lucy, in order to convince herself (and readers) otherwise. It is implementing a soft, angelic tone that contradicts being rebellious and fierce. She says, I keep inside a pumpkin shell. There I do very well. Shut a blind eye to where my pumpkin eater roams (ll. 19 22). The pumpkin shell is the narrator safe place, where she acts naïve when the pumpkin eater, her husband, is running around with other women. The husband is referred as the pumpkin eater because even though he not physically killing her like the nursery rhyme, he definitely is killing her emotionally. The narrator says, I m no hysteric, terrorist, emotional anarchist (ll. 16 18), referring to how she going to let him go about his business without being an emotional crazy wreck, nor feeling the need to have to call him in the middle of the night while he out. It s interpreted that each stanza in this monologue is an explanation of her current predicament; convincing her husband that she is not the one in their relationship that is being unfaithful, I m not the kind of woman who telephone s in the middle of the night, who told ... • 8. Government Corruption In Nigeria Several factors contribute to a country s insecurity and decline of a country s inability to effectively enact policies that benefit, protect and ensure the wellbeing of a country s citizens. Consequentially, if a country fails to outline and properly address problems within its own domestic domain, it stands to reason that the country has not successfully securitized the issue, which permits its sovereignty to be threatened. For the focus of this argument, this paper will examine the ineffectual securitization of governmental corruption in Nigeria through deliberate neglect of malpractices in government and the implementation of poor policies and norms that pervade the system and create insecurity, instability, threats and hinder the welfare of the populace. To begin this examination, an understanding of the issue is necessary to receive a full appreciation of why Nigeria s failures in securitizing the issue of corruption is important to the argument. This unsuccessful securitization is possible because within government corruption, while being tied particularly to the act of bribery, is a general term covering misuse of authority as a result of considerations of personal gain, which need not be monetary (Bayley 720). Correspondingly, it is imperative for this overarching argument to comprehend this concept because the quote allows for the conclusion that corruption influences the root of decision making by enticing leaders and policy makers into acting in ways that ... As an ISTJ, I am hardworking, logical, extremely observant and a natural leader. My strengths as a Duty Fulfiller include being a good listener and spender, the ability to digest constructive criticism, to endure conflict without emotional upheaval, and to allocate punishment when necessary. Because of this, I can achieve almost any goal I set for myself. How reassuring! On the opposite end of the spectrum, ISTJs typically are not comfortable with expressing emotion to others and are not naturally in tune with other people s feelings. We also dislike change, abstract theory, and nonsensical work. I cannot agree with my supposed lack of ability to sense other people s feeling, in fact, I find this to be contrary to one of the other ISTJ traits, the trait of being extremely observant. I also think everyone has little patience for nonsensical work. A 401(k) plan, so named for the section of the Internal Revenue Code describing the requirements, is a savings plan in which employees are allowed to defer income up to a $12,000 maximum (which increases by $1,000 a year from 2003 to 2006, with amounts indexed for inflation thereafter) (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). Employers typically match employee savings at a rate of 50 cents on the dollar. Defined contribution plans are more popular than defined benefit plans in both small and large companies (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). Historically these plans are faster to vest (the companies matched share of the contribution permanently shifts over to employee ownership, and they are more portable job hopping employees can take their pension accruals along to the next job) (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). The second type of plan is an employee stock ownership plan (ESOP) (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). In a basic ESOP a company makes a tax deductible contribution of stock shares or cash to a trust (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). The trust then allocates company stock (or stock bought with cash contributions) to participating employee accounts (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). The amount allocated is based on employee earnings (Milkovich and Newman, 2008). The boy goes on to talk about how he thought of himself at this age, as well as Hector and his parents. To follow, I will explore the ways in which the author chose to deliver his message and which tools make this successful from the audience s perspective. An immediate choice I notice from the author is his selective diction. Soto uses a lot of strong diction like dirty, torch, terror, flared, and twisting, but none captivate the character as well as when he uses the word brilliant . When Soto uses the word brilliant in stanza one and three, he does not mean to say intelligent or excellent. Instead, Soto uses this word to mean something more with a literal and physical meaning, like how he states towards the end of the poem, In the bleachers I was brilliant with my body/Waving players in and stomping my feet (Soto 21 22), connecting it to the body and its actions. This brings the character alive and gives the boy a feeling of acceptance and power, connecting him with the community and success he was becoming a part of. Soto s diction led me to notice the radiance this word gave the boy, which exposed the theme of lightness and darkness, symbolizing the child s journey through hope. The ... Whether it s the physicality of the world itself or the forces of nature, there is so much variation in the breadths of danger present that survival is difficult if not impossible without the ability to dynamically respond to these challenges. Simplicity, though robust in its nature, could not possibly thrive in a world like ours. Life, it seems, is up to the challenge though, and the response is more than just a single answer. Rather, the life found on earth is so diverse, so different from one another; it would fly in the face of the challenge presented. That said, none of the forms of life could be complex enough to avoid mistakes. Missteps that lead to damage and damage to failed survival. What is seen from those mistakes is not an acceptance of failure and an inability to go on, but rather a dogged determination to recover from and overcome. The dramatist and poet Samuel Beckett, born in 1906 in Ireland, can definitely be addressed as one of the most influential writers of the twentieth century. Samuel Beckett has been attributed the label of the last modernist as well as the first post modernist. His plays are filled with dark humour and absurdities, Beckett s play Waiting for Godot 1, which he composed between 1948 1949, is a good example of his minimalistic style and stage setting. • 40. Discovery Of The Cuban Culture CChristopher Columbus discovered Cuba in 1492 and claimed it for Spain. Columbus described Cuba as The most lovely that eyes have seen. (Gall, 170) Since that time Cuba has gone through a tremendous amount of conflict over the last 500 years. They have endured war after war and foreign occupation, which has caused many Cubans to flee the country looking for asylum. Even with such a dramatic history the culture of the Cuban people live on not only in Cuba, but also in America. So how do we determine how to properly communicate with people of the Cuban culture as not to offend them and be considerate of their culture. We must first start off with the evolution of the culture through their history. For such a small country the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Castro passed a reform act, which limited private land ownership, confiscated all foreign owned investments, and established what would be a relationship with the Soviet Union. In April, CIA trained Cuban exiles staged the Bay of Pigs invasion, a failed attempt to topple the Castro regime. Later that year, Castro proclaimed Cuba a socialist country. The following year, the Cuban Missile Crisis started when the United States discovered Soviet missiles in Cuba. The crisis ended when the Soviets agreed to remove the missiles and, in exchange, the United States promised never to invade Cuba. By the end of the 1970s, the economy began to slip and, aggravated by political oppression, life on the island became intolerable for many. Since then, numerous Cubans have sought to exile themselves from the island. Today, Cuba remains the only communist government in the Western hemisphere. After the collapse of the Soviet Union in the early 1990s, an already struggling Cuban economy took a turn for the worse. Facing civil unrest in the wake of an all but collapsed economy, the Cuban government has been forced to dabble in capitalism and reverse its position on tourism. In February 2008 Fidel Castro announced he was stepping down as president in favor of his brother Raúl. It was the end of an era. (Gall, 170) Even after all this, Cubans are said to be known for their warmth, friendliness, sense of humor, wit and resilience. (Gall, 170) They tend to greet others with ... • 41. Chain Store Essay Second, and most importantly to me, is the quality and high standards that chain stores possess. In my personal experience, chain stores have a decent amount of staff available to assist you with knowledge of product and great customer service. In the few local shops I ve stepped into, I have rarely been greeted or assisted unless I managed to chase down a dour looking employee to begrudgingly answer my questions. In Postrel s essay, she hits the nail on the head by asserting the idea that whether a store is local or a chain, they are still quite similar in products they sell; A hardware store was a hardware store, a pharmacy a pharmacy. (p. 347) The only true difference to me is the quality of the customer service and the values the store possesses. In Augusta there are few local stores I enjoy shopping in, although the ones I chose to indulge in are typically in our downtown area, and have exceeded my expectations. ... More times than not, I have gone into an H M or Forever21 and found a similar shirt at a much lower price and happily purchased it. Postrel says in her essay, Chains do more than bargain down prices from suppliers or divide fixed costs across a lot of units. They rapidly spread economic discovery (p. 347) Chain stores last much longer in Augusta than the local ones do it seems; rarely have I seen a locally store last longer than a year. Stores like Walmart carry virtually everything a person could imagine, and all at a fixed, low cost. Some also are able to price match coupons and other items, which local stores cannot ... • 42. The Examined Life By Slajov Zizek In the film The Examined Life, a compelling documentary directed by Astra Taylor, eight powerful philosophers meander around places that are particularly special to them, as well as their ideas. Issues discussed range from cosmopolitanism to truth, and each philosopher is given 10 minutes to share their thoughts. Although not enough time to really connect with the philosophers, some concrete points are made. Slajov Zizek discusses ecology and our idealization of nature, and the critical importance and implications of how we live as humans in unison with the environment. Slajov Zizek is filmed at a trash dump, very significant to the argument he is about to make. One of the first things he tells viewers is that we need more alienation from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Zizek, if we can vision nature as existing as a series of catastrophes rather then viewing it as balanced, then we may begin to acknowledge the implications of how we live symbiotically with the environment. He stresses that as humans we must begin to recognize the changes in the environment and adapt with them. His attempt at a resolution is to isolate ourselves from nature even more than we already have. He believes that if we can create our own environment, then catastrophes will be irrelevant and our disavowal will be warranted. We should develop, I think, a much more terrifying new abstract materialism, a kinds of mathematical universe where there is nothing. There are just formulas, technical forms and so on. If we can find beauty in trash itself that is a success. If we can learn to love the earth for what it is, that is also a success. This comes as a result of additions that we must work to make in order to greater the success of the environment. That s the true love of the world. Because what is love? Love is not idealization. Love means you accept a person...with all its failures, stupidities, and ugly points. And nonetheless, the person s absolute for you [...] But you see perfection in imperfection itself. And that s how we should learn to love the world. The key to Zizek s ideology is love through change. We as people must begin to adapt and accept the world as it comes, and care for it as if it were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Progression of Time and Community in the Works of Johnson... The future of society is an often unpredictable and unpleasant topic due to the many variables which effect it. In The Lost Island and in The City of the End of Things , the future is depicted as something detrimental to the society each story represents. In Pauline Johnson s short story, The Lost Island , this concept is expressed in the visions given by the Medicine Man, who foretells the oppression of his people by the arrival of the colonizers. In Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , this concept manifests through the downfall of greater human society in favour of a more robotic era. This essay focuses on how these two texts exemplify the variable nature of the future by focusing on the harmful possibilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After this point in the story, the medicine man returned to his people and told them to look for the island before dying in his sleep; however, nobody could ever find the island (Johnson 235). The main character shares his own desire to discover it when he says, twice I have seen its shadow...[it] fell across my canoe, across my face, and across the waters beyond...there is something on that island that I want. I shall look for it until I die, for it is there (Johnson 233). He continues to search for the island in order to obtain those long lost traits, for himself and to uphold the former status of his people. Yet the story ends with the notion that such a reclamation may never occur. The main character claims he has been touched by the shadow of the island, but only the shadow (Johnson 235). This indicates that he and his people may only ever have the memories of the past to haunt them as they progress. In this way the story is indicating that the modern society the Aboriginal people thrive in is already stagnant and dead. Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , depicts the future of humanity as a hellish reality, where human existence is met with suffering. Human society itself is absent in favour of a technologically advanced, robotic era. This apocalyptic portrayal of the global community produces powerful, demonic imagery in order to depict the downward ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. A Student At Hampton University I wish I could say it still surprises me when I mentioned to people that I attended an HBCU (Historically Black College/University), some of them have no idea they exist. Often, it turns into a conversation starter, which usually evolves into a meaningful educational moment about the history of HBCU s. However, occasionally I find myself becoming frustrated when ask the question why in a way that questions the validity and or need for HBCU s in 2016. As a student at Hampton University I did not fully realize the impact it would have on me, but looking back, it is clear to me that those experiences have shaped who I ve grown into today, and strongly influence to my desire to pursue a career in environmental science education. My first class in Marine and Environmental Science department at Hampton University turned out be different than I expected. Instead of a large lecture hall full of students, I entered a small classroom with approximately 15 students. It was a pleasant surprise to see the small group of students, who shared a cultural resemblance and has similar interests. Up until then, typically when I told someone I wanted to be a marine scientist, the response was oh that nice or so you want to play with fish? So being at Hampton with likeminded students that I could relate to made the transition form high school to college easier than I anticipated. There was a feeling of communities that allowed me to feel free to be myself. In contrast, my first day ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After the Columbian Exchange, Columbus brought over horses, dogs, cattle, goats, and chicken and it provided the Natives with a new source of labor and also with a new source of food. Many of these animals carried diseases and humans were dying. Those diseases that the animals carried with them came to the New World. Cattle were very profitable because you could eat their meat and also use their hides as a blanket. The cattle hides were then shipped back to Europe to be sold as well as the meat.
