The Animal Of Animal Welfare Act
Animal Welfare Act
Casandra Sasaki
Eagle High School
Abstract
The Animal Welfare Act, passed in 1966, establishes guidelines for the protection of animals used
for research and other purposes, defines the requirements for facilities housing those animals, and
outlines the procedures for inspection and maintenance of those facilities by government entities.
This paper explores the pros and cons of the act as well as the effectiveness of the guidelines and
their enforcement. Finally, it makes several recommendations based on the evidence presented.
Policy Identification and Explanation
The policy that I am researching is: United States Code: CHAPTER 54 TRANSPORTATION,
SALE, AND HANDLING OF CERTAIN ANIMALS. (Animal Welfare Act, 2015). This is the
Animal Welfare Act. Because the Animal Welfare act has so many parts to it, the section I am
focusing on is: В§2143: Standards and certification process for humane handling, care, treatment,
and transportation of animals (Animal Welfare Act, 2015).
This specific section is focusing on animal testing in research facilities across the United States. It
tells the minimum requirements for animals housing, treatment, care, sanitation, etc. This section
also states the requirements for procedures done on animals. Section three, part B states: the
principal investigator considers alternatives to any procedure likely to produce pain or distress
(Animal Welfare Act, 2015). The Animal Welfare Act is a federal law,

Book Vs Story
Books each have their own story to tell, similar to a person s story. The story never contains a
final denouement, just like how a person s story can always grow. In this way, books and lives
are intertwined together into a tightly knit network. A network that has always been there, and
always will be there. Therefore, life is a library of unfinished books. Books are never quite
completely finished. There is always more you can add to make your book better. Revisions,
extra paragraphs, and even details. A book is never a perfect masterpiece. Similar to how a project
can always be nurtured to become stronger. It just won t work, Katrina sighed, setting the car down

Clementi? Someone likes him, ha! I scoffed. But my subconsciousness thought otherwise. I
mentally made a `note to check him out later. After school, I slammed the letters CLEMENTI S
SONATINAS into Google. An endless selection of results popped up. Clicking on a video playing
Sonatina No. 3, I leaned back and listened. That was when everything changed. The performer s
fingers gracefully flew across the piano, changing rhythm dramatically as the movements passed.
The dynamics caused the music to fill up my whole room with harmony. I could almost hear the
emotions Clementi so desperately kneaded into the measures. Happiness. Heartbreak. Glee. Is
this really Clementi? I wondered. I continued to research, trying to understand the composer, just
as if I was understanding the true meaning of a book. My previous view on Clementi changed
from loath to wonder literally overnight. From then on, I immersed myself in this piece. I spent
hours sitting on the cushioned black bench of my piano, trying to mimic the harmony I had
heard, ignoring everything else in my way. Two weeks later, I was ready to present my
impersonations of Clementi to Ms. Eiko. Wow! You played that beautifully, Maumita! I m glad
Clementi worked out for you, Ms. Eiko gleamed, after I finished playing the mastered piece. I
grinned widely at her. You have no idea, I

Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Follows Upon The...
An elegy, a poem written in honor of a deceased. It mourns the death of an individual through
looking at the bright side. It can release stress because of all the emotions that could not be held in
anymore. This can be clearly portrayed in Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses upon the
Burning of Our House and Thomas Gray s Elegy Written in Country Churchyard. Both of the
writers have feelings of depression. The writers bring up subtle comparisons between the poem and
themselves. The arising themes remain constant through spirituality. In both of the stories, there is
an identified preposition of melancholy, potential, and spirituality.
To start off with the poem Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House, Anne
Bradstreet sets up the tone of sadness and says that she was awakened by a noise, a voice
screaming fire and how heartbreaking it was to lose her home and possessions (Elegy 178).
Bradstreet describes how her home looks after the incident. Her and her family have to start all
over again. Bradstreet feels like everything has been taken away from her and will not be able to
move on in line. She is having feelings of melancholy. Consequently, Bradstreet has an epiphany
and says, Adieu, adieu, all s vanity (Elegy 179). This means that she is saying all her possessions
are worthless. This is a turning point in Bradstreet s life that she was gifted with. She now sees
how her ambition, potential, and hope can change her future life. She had been taking

Modeling and Simulation
Modeling and Simulation
A Simulation is the imitation of the operation of a real world process or system over time. It
involves the generation of an artificial history of a system and observation of the artificial history to
draw inferences concerning the operating characteristics of the real system. Simulation can be used
both as an analysis tool for predicting the effect of changes to existing systems and as a design tool
to predict performance of new systems under varying sets of circumstances
Advantages of Simulation: 1 Choose correctly. 2 Time compression and expansion 3 Explore
possibilities. 4 Diagnose problems. 5 Identify constraints. 6 Develop understanding. 7 Visualize the
plan. 8 Prepare ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. By using simulation to perform bottleneck analysis, you can discover the cause of the delays in
work in process, information, materials, or other processes. 3. Simulation studies aid in providing
understanding about how a system really operates rather than indicating an individual s predictions
about how a system will operate 4. By compressing or expanding time simulation allows you to
speed up or slow down phenomena so that you can thoroughly investigate them.

Review Of The Oresteia
Hoque, Zohirul
Oresteia
At the point when a person is blamed for a crime they are either discovered guilty or innocent. This
is the fundamental thought of justice and it is the thing that people feel needs to happen on the off
chance that somebody has done something dubious. In the play The Oresteia by Aeschylus, the tale
of Clytemnestra guilt or innocents is addressed.
She does numerous things that individuals are not very content with and those disputable activities
all through the story; basically in the primary part Agamemnon gets her into an inconvenience. As
we investigate the body of evidence that works against her innocents by investigating the killings of
Agamemnon and Cassandra and the proud expression about the killings.
This activity causes a lot of fierceness in Clytemnestra. One could exceptionally surely know
why she would act along these lines. Clytemnestra see s the slaughtering of her little girl as
simply being murdered for her spouse s gain. She additionally feels that he could have picked an
alternate virgin to give up. One the other hands, if one takes a gander at Agamemnon s issue they
could think something else. Agamemnon was the general of his armed force and the pioneer that
his men gazed upward to. So when the benefit came to him saying I will give you wind for a
virgin sacrifice he took it as relinquishing somebody close to him. So Agamemnon picks his girl
the virgin and yielded her with decision making ability for what was best for the armed

Social Media New Activism Research Paper
Social Media: The Platform for New Activism It was the third semester of my freshman year in
high school when I got the news. I was doing my homework in preparation for another dreadful
Monday at school. I was scrolling through my Instagram timeline instead of finishing my
homework when my mom asked me to cut on FOX 5 News. Now that the television was on, it
gave me another excuse to procrastinate even more. My eyes were glued to the television as
reporters talked about events that deserved no air time, when suddenly the segment began to air.
The reporter said a black teen, named Trayvon Martin had been shot and killed in Stanford,
Florida by a neighborhood watch volunteer. She said the story was still developing and
information would be coming. It was relayed later that day that the neighborhood watch
volunteer followed and shot Martin because he looked suspicious and up to no good, also known
as black. I was so shocked. I mean, I knew that hate crimes against black people existed, but I
could not tell someone a case in which it had happened recently. Talk of Trayvon Martin s death
spread quickly. It sprouted arguments via... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

movements message via social media, hashtags are created such as #BLM, #blacklivesmatter,

find, follow, and contribute to conversation. Today, in order for activists who use social media to
spread their word, they must have a following on social media and use tools such as hashtags that
will help their message spread. The question is, Will these new tools and tactics produce the change
these activists want to see ? This depends on the activist and their passion for their cause without

How To Quit The Valley Forge Dbq
I would actually quit Valley Forge because in December 14, 1777 many soldiers died out of

myself sick ! In Dr. Waldo notes he complains about how bad food there is and how freezing cold
it is at the Valley Forge, I can prove this because in Document C it says I am sick, discontented

Fiber Cable, Tools, And Test Equipment
Fiber Optic Cable, Tools, and Test Equipment The following Fiber Optic Cable, Tools, and Test
Equipment are purchased and used for this project: Tripp light multi mode micron cable for
networks. This will cost around $260.00 for 1,00ft. Therefore the total for the project would be
$260.00. Next a cable IQ advanced IT kit with SC connectors is required. The Cable IQ
Advanced IT Kit is designed to maximize the efficiency of any cable qualification job. Use the
included Intelli Tone 200 Probe to find cables quickly and definitively, even on active networks.
The total cost of this is $2,274.00. Price can range depending on the brand. However, the
recommended one in this case is Fluke Network cable IQ kit. Which costs $2,274.00. I would
also recommend the purchase of fiber optic installation tool kit. These will cost around $607.00
for a kit. They have multiple choices at Fosco.com. Fiber Optic Design Considerations The
following considerations should be made about the fiber optics design: First how much data will

The Red Scare of McCarthyism
Red Scare: McCarthyism
No one man can terrorize a whole nation unless we are all his accomplices.
Edward R. Murrow (Goodreads.com)
The Red Scare, also known as, McCarthyism started in the early 1950 s. It got the name
McCarthyism from Senator Joseph Raymond McCarthy. McCarthy started The Red Scare. It was
very similar to a witch hunt but, it wasn t witches they were hunting for. They were searching for
communist. The Red Scare was a horrible and cruel period during the early 1900 s. During the
Cold War communist began to emerge. Communist are people who follow or believe in
communism. They were such a small group that no one paid much attention to them until after
World War 2. When WW II ended communist started causing problems. They already took power in
other countries and Americans began to fear they would do the same to the U.S. They wondered if
Soviet Spies were in America secretly advertising communism. U.S. citizens even questioned if
communist were involved in U.S. government jobs or in schools miseducating students and
children. To help calm down these fears Joseph Raymond McCarthy started McCarthyism.

revolution in the undergarment manufacturing, since it required a more comfortable and easy to

in 2007.[63] The Fusion 999 project was born in early 2006 when Ford fuel cell engineering
manager Mujeeb Ijaz approached Roush Racing about a project to demonstrate the performance
potential of a fuel cell powered vehicle. Roush s team, led by Rick Darling, worked with a team
of Ford engineers and technicians led by Matt Zuehlk to come up with a vehicle design that
could meet the goal of exceeding 200 mph (320 km/h) on the Bonneville Salt Flats, fueled only
by hydrogen.[64] On August 15, 2007, the vehicle set the fastest fuel cell ground vehicle speed
record of 207.297 mph (333.612 km/h).The car was driven by retired Ford engineer Rick Byrnes, a
long time Bonneville racer.

are more than the ford fusion. Honda Accord is faster than a Ford Fusion and so therefore if I was

Gerald A. Sandusky Case Summary
When a case comes to the court that involves children or cases of child abuse, especially sexual
abuse. It becomes a tug of war debate between those that support harsher punishments to deter such
a horrendous crime as sexually abusing children, and those that support the idea that it is a illness
that requires medical treatment on the biological or psychological level. Then there is also the call
for how ethical it is to punish rather than treat such criminals.
In regards to the Gerald A. Sandusky case, which began in June 11th 2012 and ended on October
9th 2012. We are presented with a case where an individual was given unlimited access to young
boys of all ages, some from poor and underprivileged backgrounds. Of the 52 charges Mr. Sandusky
received, 4 charges were initially dropped, leaving 48. On June 22, 2012, Sandusky was
convicted of 45 counts of sexual abuse. Sandusky was sentenced on October 9, 2012, to a
minimum of 30 years and a maximum of 60 years in prison (Klein, Tolson, ... Show more content

Sandusky s case his actions of grooming, planning, using threats etc, show him to be a man who
has understanding of his actions and crimes, where others who put less thought and are much more
rash do not, tho neither criminal is absolved based on how well they hid their crimes. Sexual abuse
of a child with any method is a horrendous crime.
Is it ethical then to punish people who commit sexual abuse against children? Or should our
approach be treatment not punishment? This is an age old debate, while there have been attempts
to treat the disease of pedophilia, there are exceptions to this treatment whom despite it do reoffend.
Counseling, monitoring, medicating, and even chemical castration are some ways our society has
developed to treat the biological and psychological side of the argument

Working Poor Essay
The Struggle of the Working Poor
Revised Essay
Sociology 113
Yvonne Barney

The Struggle of the Working Poor
Society often describes the impoverished with one word, lazy. Society has taught us that if a
person wants to be financially successful, it is a simple process of education and hard work that
will equate to a successful income. This is the American dream. If the impoverished simply would
get a job instead of being lazy, they would not need to rely on programs like welfare. The
impoverished would succeed if they only would apply themselves. However, in an attempt to
present another point of view, The Working PoorInvisible in America by David K. Shipler (2004)
explored multiple variables this group struggles ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Chapter 9, Dreams, begins with the ambitious professional aspirations of sixth and eighth grade
children from poor families in Washington, DC. Shipler contrasts these aspirations with the
enormous faced problems beyond their control. Chapter 10, Work Works, is dedicated to the
positive impact that job training and working has had on some poor individuals and families. Job
training programs that teach soft skills as well as hard skills and are successful in instilling
confidence and self esteem are appreciated by employers. Chapter 11, Skill and Will, emphasizes
that American society must understand what it can do using the skills and resources it has to
combat poverty. The approach to remedying poverty, Shipler argues, must be holistic, tackling all
problems associated with it at once.
The United States is often described as a place where anyone can pick themselves up by their
bootstraps and realize the American dream of a comfortable lifestyle. But, for over 30 million
Americans, this dream is no longer possible. Though we live in the richest and most powerful
country in the world, there are many individuals who are living under or at the poverty level. While
the United States has enjoyed unprecedented affluence, low wage employees have been testing the
American doctrine that hard work cures poverty (Shipler, 2004). The status of poverty translates

Poetry as a Reflection of The Inner Being
Alfred Tennyson gifted the Victorian Era, and the literary world with two iconic poems. The
author explored the themes of personal development and culture clash in one of his most famous
poems, Ulysses . Tennyson also discovered and analyzed the themes of love and death through his
renowned and eminent poem, Tears Idle, Tears . The poet was born in Somersby, Lincolnshire in
1809 in the East Lindy district of England. Tennyson experienced numerous amounts of difficulties

Thirdly, although Tennyson was engaged to Emily Sell wood...the condition of his health resulted
in their separation (Napierkowski and Rose 273). The poet is unable to maintain relationships
even with his fiancГ©, which drives him to dissect the ideas of love and death in his poems. But
the negative brought a sliver of positive, without the anguish at the loss of a friend, Tennyson
would have never written...his greatest poem (Padgett 93). This validates that the author s life
experiences contributed to his writings, and were implanted into his tone, themes, words and
stylistic decisions. His characters can also be seen as a mirror reflection of Tennyson s deeper and
underlying being.
Overall Tennyson was a perfect mold to the ideals and thoughts of society in the Victorian Era. He
opposed the new scientific knowledge that created a drift from traditionalism. He was rooted in
the old style, organic beliefs that the Victorian era was ferociously trying to preserve, as new
technology and scientific inventions and theories were being developed. The Victorian era was
characterized by many qualities such as smugness, narrow mindedness, bourgeoisie, materialism,
faith in social progress and priggish morality (Galens 380). Society maintained a sense of pride
and confidence in themselves. These ideals can be witnessed in Tennyson s poems which are a

The Argument For God s Existence And Nature
Question 2
In part IX of Hume s Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion, Deamea, the orthodox Christian,
confronts Philo s skepticism towards the arguments for God s existence and nature that have thus
far be discussed. Deamea presents a version of the ontological argument that he believes should
provide undeniable proof of the truths found in religious dogma. However, Philo is not convinced
with this argument because of the nature of the argument. Philo describes Deamea s ontological
argument as an a priori argument. In Latin a priori is means from before but when this term is
used in philosophy it is meant to mean from before experience. These kinds of arguments are
arguments that anyone can come to see as being true from the comfort of ... Show more content on

These arguments argue for something through the use of empirical evidence. An example of a
posteriori knowledge would be the statement, Barack Obama is the current president of the United
States. This is an example of empirical information that cannot be proven through reason alone. The
different viewpoints between a priori and a posteriori arguments can be seen in works for Thomas
Aquinas and Anselm of Canterbury. Both Saints believe that Godis self evident. However, Aquinas
uses a priori arguments and Anselm uses an a priori argument. I believe that Aquinas does not reject
Anselm s argument because it is a priori. Aquinas issues with Anselm s argument lies in Anselm s
misuse of his definition of God and humanity s inability to understand this definition. In his
ontological argument, Anselm defines God as that than which nothing greater can be thought.
According to Aquinas, this is where the main issue lies in Anselm s argument. Aquinas believes
that everyone must have the same concept of God in order for Anselm s definition of God to work.
Not everyone will define God as that than which nothing greater can be thought. This definition is
the basis of Anselm s argument and if people cannot come to define God as Anselm did then the
argument fails. Aquinas second issue with Anselm s ontological argument comes from the fact that
even if everyone comes to accept God as that

Negev Israel is home to multiple tribes of Bedouin people. The current traditional Bedouin tribes
that now reside here have roamed the deserts of the Middle East for hundreds of years, with
travel routes extending from the Sinai Peninsula and into the Negev as well as areas that are now
located in Saudi Arabia and Jordan. Alongside the history of Israel is another story of how these
nomadic societies have had to deal with politics and social interactions in this fairly newly formed

While the Bedouin communities did not particularly agree with the Turks, they did opt to fight
against the British. After the defeat of the Ottoman Empire, the former territory was divided up
among British and French to establish mandates. While the British government had made several

the Jewish state in Palestine. Britain was placed in charge of the Palestine and the Negev through
the Balfour Declaration, which was an agreement that Britain would remain in control of Palestine
until it could be declared as a Jewish state. Arab groups including Bedouin, were not pleased with
the traditional lands being divided up between them and the new Jewish population. Plans were
organized by the UN that called for land to be divided between the two groups, however neither
side fully agreed on the terms of the proposal. While disagreements began about the idea of a

Biometric And Identification Of Biometric Identification
Biometric methodologies emerged into existence in 1858 by use of recording hand images for
identification purposes. From 1858 to 1896 studies progressed in the identification of individuals by
hand geometry, a person s measurements, and fingerprints. From the year 1936 to 1985 biometric
studies proceeded for iris pattern, face recognition, acoustic speech, written signature, and hand
identification. Patents for hand and iris identification became a reality 1985 to 1986 and in 1988
the first semi automated facial recognition systemwas deployed. By 1991 face recognition is
automated with the ability of detecting faces in real time. By the mid to late 1990 s biometric
methodologies evolves and is integrated into technology allowing the practice of fingerprint, palm
systems, and iris identification to become more reliable with increased automation capabilities.
Studies therefore increased and biometric technology became even more advanced in the early
2000 s up until today s time.
There are now about 14 different types of biometric technologies that exist today. These biometric
technologies are DNA, Iris, Retina, face, fingerprint, finger geometry, hand geometry, odor, typing,
vein, voice, and gait recognition which are all techniques of identifying and authenticating
individuals that would provide a more reliable and efficient way of verifying a person identification
also preventing access to unauthorized personnel. Biometric technologies today are becoming less

After experiencing the 1880 census Herman devised a Tabulating Machine in order to speed the

The Tao, Te Tao
Through religion adherents are enabled to fulfill our need to search for and find meaning within
our own lives. Many religions help to provide its followers with this fulfillment through the
principal beliefs, which are held as sacred. Followers of Daoism follow traditions based on
philosophy and connectedness to nature and the world around us. Through this Daoists are enabled
to forge a strong bond with the world around them, using it to empower them, this then allows for
the followers to feel fulfillment in their lives as they strive to attain inner peace and immortality.
Daoism revolves around our interaction with Tao and the flow of Chi. The Tao (otherwise known
as the way) can be described as the order of the universe affecting everything throughout life.
Humans cannot understand the Tao and its working throughout the universe. The Tao manifests
itself within our world in many different forms, it is found within nature, the world and the
universe. The Tao Te Chingwritten by Laozi describes the Tao as The Tao that can be spoken of
is not the constant Tao; The name that can be named Is not the constant Name. (Tao Te Ching
Chapter 1) Another description of the Tao comes from the sage Chuang Tzu who defines the Tao
as The way is to man as rivers and lakes are to fish, the natural condition of life. (www.bbc.co.uk.)

was a lack of generalizability among the data and п¬Ѓndings. Given the community background of
the sample, it was indefinite whether the results were generalizable to other areas and probation

requiring probationers consent delayed the data collection. As a result, limited information

If, however, the man wrestling with a Tyrannosaurus was a modern Hollywood celebrity, not only

Analyzing Esoteric Alchemy And The Alchemist
Alchemy began in Hellenistic Egypt particularly in Alexandria. Alexandria was founded in 332
B.C, and quickly became the heartbeat of Hellenistic cosmopolitanism. The Art itself had both
exoteric and esoteric purposes, which were centered on the transmutation of base metals into silver
and gold. Exoterically speaking it took the form of crafting matter into items of value. However, as
a natural development the material means and ends of the Art were often intermixed with the
immaterial world. Both were interdependent and intermixed with each other in various ways.
Historical analyses of exoteric and esoteric Alchemysuggest that it is impossible to fully separate
the two because they are sympathetic to each other. Simply put, whether or not the Alchemist
understands esoteric immaterial factors of the practice still have an impact. The purpose of this
paper is to analyze esoteric Alchemy and to discuss what the immaterial means and ends of the
Work could have meant to the Alchemist, and concludes that the Art was a work of crafting the soul.
The approach used in this paper will first examine Hellenistic cosmopolitanism through the idea of
the supernatural, the soul, and virtue, and then I will discuss Alchemy as understood by from and
close to the Hermetic tradition.
Many Alchemists had an understanding of the natural and supernatural that parallels antique
thought as a whole. Common in the culture was a desire to understand, communicate, and develop
virtue. There was

Jacob, The, And Jacob
Let us commence a journey into the much travelled topic of Jacob wrestling with God. Jacob
portrays deceitful characteristics throughout Genesis; Jacob gets his name from his twin brother
Esau. When Jacob brother of Esau was born, his brother came out, with his hand grasping Esau s
heel; so he was named Jacob(Gen. 25.26). Part of the reason Jacob is who he is because of his
brother Esau. Esau and Jacob were more than just the typical brothers. Jacob hated Esau. It was
all a competition between them. Esau was born the hunter and Jacob did just enough to get by.
They are the sons of Isaac. Jacob had a past of struggling with God almost as if he was seeking to

Jacob had always been trying to seek a life that didn t involve God. The wrestling with God plays
a big part in his overall character. This is true because, when Jacob wrestles with God he comes

Techniques Used For Air Navigation Essay
The techniques used for air navigation will depend on whether the aircraft is in flight under Visual
Flight Rules (VFR) or Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). In the latter case, the pilot will navigate
exclusively using radio navigation instruments and aids such as beacons, or as directed under radar
control by air traffic control. In the case of VFR, a pilot navigates heavily using dead calculations
combined with visual (pilot) observations, referring to appropriate maps. This can be supplemented
using radio navigation aids.
Given the flight plan and the position of the aircraft, the flight management system calculates the
route to be taken. The driver can take this course manually, or the autopilot can be configured to
take the course.
The flight management system mode is normally called LNAV or lateral navigation for the lateral
flight plan and VNAV or vertical navigation for the vertical flight plan. VNAV provides targets and
speeds of height and altitude, and LNAV provides a balanced control of automatic piloting.

just start off with some facts about each states executive branch.
While reading, the first thing that I had saw was the amount of sections for the executive officials
in each constitution. The state of Illinois only has 21 sections, while the state of Kentucky has a
total of 40 sections, this is nearly double of what Illinois has. Also, the title of each article ... Show

In Illinois the governor seems to have 6 major powers. The first three powers are, Section 8: The
governor is responsible for the faithful execution of laws, section 9: appointing power with the
consent of the senate (a majority of the members) and section 10: The governor can remove for
incompetence, neglect of job, or wrong doing in office. The last three powers are, section 11:
The governor may reassign duties among or reorganize executive agencies which are
responsible to him, section 12: The Governor may grant reprieves, commutations and pardons,
after conviction, for all offenses on such terms as he thinks is right, and finally section 13, The
Governor shall report to the general assembly on the condition of the state and recommended
such measures as he deems desirable. Now looking at the state of Kentucky I found that the
governor has seven powers, which is only one more than in the state Illinois. The states of
Illinois and Kentucky have 3 sections that are very similar or the same, sections 12 and 77 are
what I think are the same on most areas, section 13 and 79 are very similar in power, and finally
sections 8 and 81 are the exact same, But one power that is different for Kentucky is, He may

duties of their

The Interstate Highway System
In the early 1900s, the United States of America would see the introduction of a piece of
technology that would change the way we as a society would look at travel. Henry Ford began
production of Model T, the vehicle soon found its way into many American homes. By 1927, the
Ford Motor Company had sold nearly 15 million of the mass produced, affordable car. The
automobilewas no longer a luxury but, a necessity for Americans. During the infancy of the
automobile, the roads where nothing more than a mere rutted up path through the country side.
Though shortly, people realized the need for better roads. The only problem was, who was going to
pay the bill?
While serving overseas during World War II, Army General Dwight D Eisenhower had been
stationed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Interstate highways have roughly seventy percent of the construction and maintenance costs
paid for by the state and federal governments through user fees and fuel taxes. The Highway Trust
Fund, established in 1956 by the Highway Revenue Act also provided funding to the interstates by
raising the three cent per gallon fuel tax to 4.5 cents; the fuel tax has since 1993 remained at 18.4
cents per gallon. Toll roads and bridges also contributed to funding for Interstate Highways, with
some large sections of the Interstate Highways that were planned or constructed before 1956 still
being operated as toll roads. Interstates that have had their construction bonds paid off are able to
operate toll free, such as the Interstate 95 and Interstate 65. The Interstate system is overall an
expensive system to maintain, causing many states to find ways to obtain the

Da Vinci Surgical System
The Da Vinci Surgical System
What is the Da Vinci Surgical System?
The Da Vinci Surgical System is a large purpose built robot controlled by a surgeon that performs
minimally invasive surgical procedures on patients. The system incorporates an ergonomically
designed surgeon s console, a patient side module with four interactive robotic arms, each with
interchangeable surgical instruments and a 3 dimensional endoscopic vision system. Powered by
high tech supercomputers, the surgeon s hand movements are scaled, filtered and then converted
into precise movements of the surgical attachments. The designers of the system are a team of
doctors, engineers and biomedical engineers at a company called Intuitive Surgical.

The benefits of this are:
В·Shorter hospital stay
В·Less pain and scarring
В·Less risk of infection
В·Less blood loss and fewer transfusions
В·Faster recovery
В·Quicker return to normal activities
Surgical attachment system
The company has developed a wide range of attachments that can be paced on each of the robotic
arms. These are very similar to the normal instruments that a surgeon would use, such as clamps and
scalpels. Intuitive surgical has named these attachments Endowrist instruments.
Figure 6: An Endowrist attachment known as the cobra grasper. It is used to secure dense tissue
structures such as tumours.
Figure 7: Curved Endowrist scissors
All the instruments are designed with seven degrees of motion that mimic the dexterity of the
human hand and wrist. Also, Each instrument has a specific surgical function such as clamping,
stitching and tissue cutting. Quick release levers speed instrument changes during operations.
In summary, the Da Vinci Robot system provides a surgeon with a great deal of control, range of
motion, fine tissue handling capability and a 3 D viewing system. It also allows the doctor to work
through tiny incisions that is characteristic of minimally invasive surgery.
The Use of Technology
The use of technology in this particular innovation is extensive. Several different types of
technologies are incorporated into one system to operate effectively.

Nosocomial Infection Prevention Essay
Nosocomial Infections and Prevention Tactics
According to Fox et al. (2015), an estimated 2.5 million hospital acquired infections (HAIs) occur
annually in the United States (p. 217). It is bad enough that these preventable infections happen at
all. Yet, the fact that there are 90,000 preventable patient deaths not to mention the cost of dealing
with these infections is more than $4.5 billion annually indicates the major dilemma facing both
patients and healthcare workers (Fox et al., 2015, p. 217). The goal of this paper is to help nurses
identify not only risk factors, but also understand what pathogens they are up against and use this
information along with prevention tactics to help avoid further sickness and death of patients ...

These numbers illustrate for patients as well as caregivers the vast amount of people and families
that are coping with hospital associated illness. However, caregivers are challenged with how to
remedy this unbroken chain of infection.
Chain of Infection
The chain of infection is the phrase used to describe the process by which infection can spread from
one susceptible individual to another (Weston, 2013, p. 120). The first part of the chain is the
causative organism which causes the infections mentioned (Weston, 2013). The reservoir, as the
second link, is the place where the pathogen lives which can be environmental, human or animal
(Weston, 2013, p. 120). The most common in a healthcare setting involve the environment as well
as human. The human body carries its own microflora and when the immune system is in good
working order no disease occurs. By contrast, when a body is immunocompromised, it is an open
door for a pathogen to come in and initiate disease. Having said that, the healthcare environment
provides a multitude of reservoirs if adherence to cleanliness is not made a priority (Weston, 2013).
The subsequent link in our chain includes the portals of entry, how bodies are infected, and portals
of exit, how the causative organism can leave the body to infect others (Weston, 2013). Finally, the
concluding link is our

Transformation of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd...
Problem: Mr. Nakamura must decide on what action plans to pursue for the rest of the year (i.e., the
Value Creation 21 and the 5 emergency measures)
Learning from Morishita s experiences, Mr. Nakamura should consider the following Critical
Factors:
1.Full cooperation of senior management in the implementation of the plan. Mr. Nakamura s plan
will fail if he never got the full cooperation of the whole management team of MEI. To get the
cooperation, he must be able to get management to fully understand and believe in the principles of
his plans, as the senior management team will serve as the implementers of the plan. They will also
be the one who will drive the employees to the direction that they want to go. With management ...

Also, this option provides answers for the short term results only. MEI will still be plagued by the
underlying inefficiencies in its system.
Option 2 Chosen Option: Mr. Nakamura pursues Value Creation 21 concurrently with the
implementation of 5 emergency measures. The good side of this option is that there is
continuity, as Mr. Nakamura will not show as fickle minded by suddenly changing his strategy.
Also, I believe that the Value Creation 21 (VC21) strategic plan of being customer focused
company will help increase the quality of its products as quality should both be based on
technical aspects of products and perception of the consumers. The VC21 provides an answer to
this issue where the sales and marketing department have a say on a product s design/features
/quality, delivery and price (a dependent variable of productivity). The sales and marketing
personnel are the ones who know the consumers better and would know their needs and wants.
Feedback from them is of utmost importance. The VC21 also had a good start with good results.
This would mean that the employees have seen the improvement and will most likely pursue the
plan. The 5 emergency measures that Mr. Nakamura came up with to react on the negative effects
of the failed attempt on the conversion of the manufacturing system. It s a reaction to save the
profits of the company, which will show good results to both investors and company members.

Taking a Look at the Britannia Panopticon
The Britannia Panopticon is not the sort of heritage you walk about gazing at while thinking, Isn t
that pretty , admitted the music hall s preservation director Judith Bowers. She claims that a truly
restored Panopticon would have to reflect its thousand strong poor and even rough audience, paying
tribute to the folk who frequented the theatreover its long history.
The Panopticon was built in 1857 on the site of an old warehouse by the partnership of little
known architect Thomas Gildard and his brother in law H.M. McFarlane. The building, which was
born as a music hall and can be counted among the first to get electricity in Glasgow, became one
of the earliest establishments to be put into moving picture. It also housed freak shows, carnivals,
waxworks and even an indoor zoo attracting a diverse audience. It came to be called a people s
theatre in the hands of its most notable owner A.E. Pickard a notorious business man, millionaire
and quite the eccentric person. Unblemished or nearly intact purpose built theatres from an early
age are extremely rare in Britain. This is due to the fact that theatres that were failing financially
were razed by the dozens in order to sell the land. Even financially successful theatres were razed so
that they could be rebuilt bigger and better. Consequently, Britannia Music Hall, one of the few
remaining examples of a nineteenth century music hall, is worth restoration and preservation. Other
historic theatre buildings, like the

  • 2. The Animal Of Animal Welfare Act Animal Welfare Act Casandra Sasaki Eagle High School Abstract The Animal Welfare Act, passed in 1966, establishes guidelines for the protection of animals used for research and other purposes, defines the requirements for facilities housing those animals, and outlines the procedures for inspection and maintenance of those facilities by government entities. This paper explores the pros and cons of the act as well as the effectiveness of the guidelines and their enforcement. Finally, it makes several recommendations based on the evidence presented. Policy Identification and Explanation The policy that I am researching is: United States Code: CHAPTER 54 TRANSPORTATION, SALE, AND HANDLING OF CERTAIN ANIMALS. (Animal Welfare Act, 2015). This is the Animal Welfare Act. Because the Animal Welfare act has so many parts to it, the section I am focusing on is: В§2143: Standards and certification process for humane handling, care, treatment, and transportation of animals (Animal Welfare Act, 2015). This specific section is focusing on animal testing in research facilities across the United States. It tells the minimum requirements for animals housing, treatment, care, sanitation, etc. This section also states the requirements for procedures done on animals. Section three, part B states: the principal investigator considers alternatives to any procedure likely to produce pain or distress (Animal Welfare Act, 2015). The Animal Welfare Act is a federal law, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Book Vs Story Books each have their own story to tell, similar to a person s story. The story never contains a final denouement, just like how a person s story can always grow. In this way, books and lives are intertwined together into a tightly knit network. A network that has always been there, and always will be there. Therefore, life is a library of unfinished books. Books are never quite completely finished. There is always more you can add to make your book better. Revisions, extra paragraphs, and even details. A book is never a perfect masterpiece. Similar to how a project can always be nurtured to become stronger. It just won t work, Katrina sighed, setting the car down with a bang. Clartkshlert! The car went. But... After school, I slammed the letters CLEMENTI S SONATINAS into Google. An endless selection of results popped up. Clicking on a video playing Sonatina No. 3, I leaned back and listened. That was when everything changed. The performer s fingers gracefully flew across the piano, changing rhythm dramatically as the movements passed. The dynamics caused the music to fill up my whole room with harmony. I could almost hear the emotions Clementi so desperately kneaded into the measures. Happiness. Heartbreak. Glee. Is this really Clementi? I wondered. I continued to research, trying to understand the composer, just as if I was understanding the true meaning of a book. My previous view on Clementi changed from loath to wonder literally overnight. From then on, I immersed myself in this piece. I spent hours sitting on the cushioned black bench of my piano, trying to mimic the harmony I had heard, ignoring everything else in my way. Two weeks later, I was ready to present my impersonations of Clementi to Ms. Eiko. Wow! You played that beautifully, Maumita! I m glad Clementi worked out for you, Ms. Eiko gleamed, after I finished playing the mastered piece. I grinned widely at her. You have no idea, I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Follows Upon The... An elegy, a poem written in honor of a deceased. It mourns the death of an individual through looking at the bright side. It can release stress because of all the emotions that could not be held in anymore. This can be clearly portrayed in Anne Bradstreet s Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House and Thomas Gray s Elegy Written in Country Churchyard. Both of the writers have feelings of depression. The writers bring up subtle comparisons between the poem and themselves. The arising themes remain constant through spirituality. In both of the stories, there is an identified preposition of melancholy, potential, and spirituality. To start off with the poem Here Follows Some Verses upon the Burning of Our House, Anne Bradstreet sets up the tone of sadness and says that she was awakened by a noise, a voice screaming fire and how heartbreaking it was to lose her home and possessions (Elegy 178). Bradstreet describes how her home looks after the incident. Her and her family have to start all over again. Bradstreet feels like everything has been taken away from her and will not be able to move on in line. She is having feelings of melancholy. Consequently, Bradstreet has an epiphany and says, Adieu, adieu, all s vanity (Elegy 179). This means that she is saying all her possessions are worthless. This is a turning point in Bradstreet s life that she was gifted with. She now sees how her ambition, potential, and hope can change her future life. She had been taking ... Society has taught us that if a person wants to be financially successful, it is a simple process of education and hard work that will equate to a successful income. This is the American dream. If the impoverished simply would get a job instead of being lazy, they would not need to rely on programs like welfare. The impoverished would succeed if they only would apply themselves. Job training programs that teach soft skills as well as hard skills and are successful in instilling confidence and self esteem are appreciated by employers. Chapter 11, Skill and Will, emphasizes that American society must understand what it can do using the skills and resources it has to combat poverty. The approach to remedying poverty, Shipler argues, must be holistic, tackling all problems associated with it at once. The United States is often described as a place where anyone can pick themselves up by their bootstraps and realize the American dream of a comfortable lifestyle. But, for over 30 million Americans, this dream is no longer possible. • 19. Poetry as a Reflection of The Inner Being Alfred Tennyson gifted the Victorian Era, and the literary world with two iconic poems. The author explored the themes of personal development and culture clash in one of his most famous poems, Ulysses . Tennyson also discovered and analyzed the themes of love and death through his renowned and eminent poem, Tears Idle, Tears . The poet was born in Somersby, Lincolnshire in 1809 in the East Lindy district of England. Tennyson experienced numerous amounts of difficulties in his childhood and growing adolescent phases that spilled into his adult life. These trials and tribulations became a foundation and source of inspiration for Tennyson, who used them as a stimulus and catalyst to aide his literary progress and ideas. Two of the most... But the negative brought a sliver of positive, without the anguish at the loss of a friend, Tennyson would have never written...his greatest poem (Padgett 93). This validates that the author s life experiences contributed to his writings, and were implanted into his tone, themes, words and stylistic decisions. His characters can also be seen as a mirror reflection of Tennyson s deeper and underlying being. Overall Tennyson was a perfect mold to the ideals and thoughts of society in the Victorian Era. He opposed the new scientific knowledge that created a drift from traditionalism. He was rooted in the old style, organic beliefs that the Victorian era was ferociously trying to preserve, as new technology and scientific inventions and theories were being developed. The Victorian era was characterized by many qualities such as smugness, narrow mindedness, bourgeoisie, materialism, faith in social progress and priggish morality (Galens 380). The Argument For God s Existence And Nature Question 2 In part IX of Hume s Dialogues Concerning Natural Religion, Deamea, the orthodox Christian, confronts Philo s skepticism towards the arguments for God s existence and nature that have thus far be discussed. Deamea presents a version of the ontological argument that he believes should provide undeniable proof of the truths found in religious dogma. However, Philo is not convinced with this argument because of the nature of the argument. Philo describes Deamea s ontological argument as an a priori argument. These arguments argue for something through the use of empirical evidence. An example of a posteriori knowledge would be the statement, Barack Obama is the current president of the United States. This is an example of empirical information that cannot be proven through reason alone. The different viewpoints between a priori and a posteriori arguments can be seen in works for Thomas Aquinas and Anselm of Canterbury. Both Saints believe that Godis self evident. However, Aquinas uses a priori arguments and Anselm uses an a priori argument. I believe that Aquinas does not reject Anselm s argument because it is a priori. Aquinas issues with Anselm s argument lies in Anselm s misuse of his definition of God and humanity s inability to understand this definition. In his ontological argument, Anselm defines God as that than which nothing greater can be thought. According to Aquinas, this is where the main issue lies in Anselm s argument. Aquinas believes that everyone must have the same concept of God in order for Anselm s definition of God to work. Not everyone will define God as that than which nothing greater can be thought. This definition is the basis of Anselm s argument and if people cannot come to define God as Anselm did then the argument fails. Alexandria was founded in 332 B.C, and quickly became the heartbeat of Hellenistic cosmopolitanism. The Art itself had both exoteric and esoteric purposes, which were centered on the transmutation of base metals into silver and gold. Exoterically speaking it took the form of crafting matter into items of value. However, as a natural development the material means and ends of the Art were often intermixed with the immaterial world. Both were interdependent and intermixed with each other in various ways. Historical analyses of exoteric and esoteric Alchemysuggest that it is impossible to fully separate the two because they are sympathetic to each other. Techniques Used For Air Navigation Essay The techniques used for air navigation will depend on whether the aircraft is in flight under Visual Flight Rules (VFR) or Instrument Flight Rules (IFR). In the latter case, the pilot will navigate exclusively using radio navigation instruments and aids such as beacons, or as directed under radar control by air traffic control. In the case of VFR, a pilot navigates heavily using dead calculations combined with visual (pilot) observations, referring to appropriate maps. This can be supplemented using radio navigation aids. Given the flight plan and the position of the aircraft, the flight management system calculates the route to be taken. The last three powers are, section 11: The governor may reassign duties among or reorganize executive agencies which are responsible to him, section 12: The Governor may grant reprieves, commutations and pardons, after conviction, for all offenses on such terms as he thinks is right, and finally section 13, The Governor shall report to the general assembly on the condition of the state and recommended such measures as he deems desirable. Now looking at the state of Kentucky I found that the governor has seven powers, which is only one more than in the state Illinois. The states of Illinois and Kentucky have 3 sections that are very similar or the same, sections 12 and 77 are what I think are the same on most areas, section 13 and 79 are very similar in power, and finally sections 8 and 81 are the exact same, But one power that is different for Kentucky is, He may require information in writing from the officers of the executive department if pertaining to the duties of their ... • 40. The Interstate Highway System In the early 1900s, the United States of America would see the introduction of a piece of technology that would change the way we as a society would look at travel. Henry Ford began production of Model T, the vehicle soon found its way into many American homes. By 1927, the Ford Motor Company had sold nearly 15 million of the mass produced, affordable car. The automobilewas no longer a luxury but, a necessity for Americans. During the infancy of the automobile, the roads where nothing more than a mere rutted up path through the country side. Though shortly, people realized the need for better roads. The only problem was, who was going to pay the bill? The Interstate highways have roughly seventy percent of the construction and maintenance costs paid for by the state and federal governments through user fees and fuel taxes. The Highway Trust Fund, established in 1956 by the Highway Revenue Act also provided funding to the interstates by raising the three cent per gallon fuel tax to 4.5 cents; the fuel tax has since 1993 remained at 18.4 cents per gallon. Toll roads and bridges also contributed to funding for Interstate Highways, with some large sections of the Interstate Highways that were planned or constructed before 1956 still being operated as toll roads. Interstates that have had their construction bonds paid off are able to operate toll free, such as the Interstate 95 and Interstate 65. • 41. Da Vinci Surgical System The Da Vinci Surgical System What is the Da Vinci Surgical System? The Da Vinci Surgical System is a large purpose built robot controlled by a surgeon that performs minimally invasive surgical procedures on patients. The system incorporates an ergonomically designed surgeon s console, a patient side module with four interactive robotic arms, each with interchangeable surgical instruments and a 3 dimensional endoscopic vision system. Powered by high tech supercomputers, the surgeon s hand movements are scaled, filtered and then converted into precise movements of the surgical attachments. The designers of the system are a team of doctors, engineers and biomedical engineers at a company called Intuitive Surgical. The motivation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The benefits of this are: В·Shorter hospital stay В·Less pain and scarring В·Less risk of infection В·Less blood loss and fewer transfusions В·Faster recovery В·Quicker return to normal activities Surgical attachment system The company has developed a wide range of attachments that can be paced on each of the robotic arms. These are very similar to the normal instruments that a surgeon would use, such as clamps and scalpels. Intuitive surgical has named these attachments Endowrist instruments. Figure 6: An Endowrist attachment known as the cobra grasper. It is used to secure dense tissue structures such as tumours. Figure 7: Curved Endowrist scissors All the instruments are designed with seven degrees of motion that mimic the dexterity of the human hand and wrist. Also, Each instrument has a specific surgical function such as clamping, stitching and tissue cutting. Quick release levers speed instrument changes during operations. In summary, the Da Vinci Robot system provides a surgeon with a great deal of control, range of motion, fine tissue handling capability and a 3 D viewing system. It also allows the doctor to work through tiny incisions that is characteristic of minimally invasive surgery. The Use of Technology The use of technology in this particular innovation is extensive. Several different types of technologies are incorporated into one system to operate effectively.

  • 43. Nosocomial Infection Prevention Essay Nosocomial Infections and Prevention Tactics According to Fox et al. (2015), an estimated 2.5 million hospital acquired infections (HAIs) occur annually in the United States (p. 217). It is bad enough that these preventable infections happen at all. Yet, the fact that there are 90,000 preventable patient deaths not to mention the cost of dealing with these infections is more than $4.5 billion annually indicates the major dilemma facing both patients and healthcare workers (Fox et al., 2015, p. 217). The goal of this paper is to help nurses identify not only risk factors, but also understand what pathogens they are up against and use this information along with prevention tactics to help avoid further sickness and death of patients ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These numbers illustrate for patients as well as caregivers the vast amount of people and families that are coping with hospital associated illness. However, caregivers are challenged with how to remedy this unbroken chain of infection. Chain of Infection The chain of infection is the phrase used to describe the process by which infection can spread from one susceptible individual to another (Weston, 2013, p. 120). The first part of the chain is the causative organism which causes the infections mentioned (Weston, 2013). The reservoir, as the second link, is the place where the pathogen lives which can be environmental, human or animal (Weston, 2013, p. 120). The most common in a healthcare setting involve the environment as well as human. The human body carries its own microflora and when the immune system is in good working order no disease occurs. By contrast, when a body is immunocompromised, it is an open door for a pathogen to come in and initiate disease. Having said that, the healthcare environment provides a multitude of reservoirs if adherence to cleanliness is not made a priority (Weston, 2013). The subsequent link in our chain includes the portals of entry, how bodies are infected, and portals of exit, how the causative organism can leave the body to infect others (Weston, 2013). Finally, the concluding link is our ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Transformation of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd... Problem: Mr. Nakamura must decide on what action plans to pursue for the rest of the year (i.e., the Value Creation 21 and the 5 emergency measures) Learning from Morishita s experiences, Mr. Nakamura should consider the following Critical Factors: 1.Full cooperation of senior management in the implementation of the plan. Mr. Nakamura s plan will fail if he never got the full cooperation of the whole management team of MEI. To get the cooperation, he must be able to get management to fully understand and believe in the principles of his plans, as the senior management team will serve as the implementers of the plan. They will also be the one who will drive the employees to the direction that they want to go. With management ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also, this option provides answers for the short term results only. MEI will still be plagued by the underlying inefficiencies in its system. Option 2 Chosen Option: Mr. Nakamura pursues Value Creation 21 concurrently with the implementation of 5 emergency measures. The good side of this option is that there is continuity, as Mr. Nakamura will not show as fickle minded by suddenly changing his strategy. Also, I believe that the Value Creation 21 (VC21) strategic plan of being customer focused company will help increase the quality of its products as quality should both be based on technical aspects of products and perception of the consumers. The VC21 provides an answer to this issue where the sales and marketing department have a say on a product s design/features /quality, delivery and price (a dependent variable of productivity). The sales and marketing personnel are the ones who know the consumers better and would know their needs and wants. Feedback from them is of utmost importance. The VC21 also had a good start with good results. This would mean that the employees have seen the improvement and will most likely pursue the plan. The 5 emergency measures that Mr. Nakamura came up with to react on the negative effects of the failed attempt on the conversion of the manufacturing system. It s a reaction to save the profits of the company, which will show good results to both investors and company members. The bad ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 45. Taking a Look at the Britannia Panopticon The Britannia Panopticon is not the sort of heritage you walk about gazing at while thinking, Isn t that pretty , admitted the music hall s preservation director Judith Bowers. She claims that a truly restored Panopticon would have to reflect its thousand strong poor and even rough audience, paying tribute to the folk who frequented the theatreover its long history. The Panopticon was built in 1857 on the site of an old warehouse by the partnership of little known architect Thomas Gildard and his brother in law H.M. McFarlane. The building, which was born as a music hall and can be counted among the first to get electricity in Glasgow, became one of the earliest establishments to be put into moving picture. It also housed freak shows, carnivals, waxworks and even an indoor zoo attracting a diverse audience. It came to be called a people s theatre in the hands of its most notable owner A.E. Pickard a notorious business man, millionaire and quite the eccentric person. Unblemished or nearly intact purpose built theatres from an early age are extremely rare in Britain. This is due to the fact that theatres that were failing financially were razed by the dozens in order to sell the land. Even financially successful theatres were razed so that they could be rebuilt bigger and better. Consequently, Britannia Music Hall, one of the few remaining examples of a nineteenth century music hall, is worth restoration and preservation. Other historic theatre buildings, like the ...
