It explains the biological explanation for phobias, including genetics and innate influences that may lead to an oversensitive fear response. It also discusses the reliability and validity of classifying phobias, noting twin studies have found phobic disorders are more common in identical twins who share genetics. However, the biological theory only considers nature and not nurture influences.

The document discusses assimilation and culture in Rita Hook's book "Eating Vinegar". It notes how difficult it can be for people in a foreign land to assimilate into new cultures, particularly in China where cultural and family ties are strong. The document analyzes how Hooks used practices like foot binding to show how ridiculous it is to force others to abandon their culture and fully adopt the prevalent local culture, rather than blending cultures. It also discusses how language separated the main character Sadie from her new society in China.

The document discusses the Arab Ba'ath movement and rise of the Ba'ath party in Syria. It explains that the movement gained popularity by promoting Arab nationalist ideals and social reform. The Ba'ath party attracted members from rural communities and the military by promising equality and helping rural members join the military. The party's goals were to unite the Arab world and replace traditional urban elites with new political elites from rural, lower classes. When the Ba'ath party took power, it implemented revolutionary reforms like a one-party system and increased state role in social services. The movement was successful by bringing together divided classes in Syrian society through inclusive nationalist movements.

The passage discusses California's plans for a high-speed rail system connecting major cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento. It began in the 1980s with a proposed bullet train between LA and San Diego but was abandoned due to financing issues. The current plan is an 800-mile system in phases, with initial segments connecting SF to LA. Cost estimates have doubled to $50-55 billion for the full system. Ridership projections estimate capturing 32 million long-distance train trips annually by 2020 through interregional and commuter routes.

3. Malcom X Comparison
The Autobiography of Malcom X by Malcom X is a book that shares many common themes as I
Know Why the Caged Bird Sings. Both books deal with the racial inequality of African American in
the United States. Both books are autobiographies that show the graphic lives of two African
Americans. However, The Autobiography of Malcom X focuses more on a controversial historical
figure than on the childhood of a young African American girl. This controversial figure is often
depicted negatively in media and is overlooked or forgotten about in history classes that focus on
Martin Luther King Jr. Interestingly, Malcom X is often portrayed darker in media than he was in
reality. MLK, on the other hand, is often shown with a lighter skin tone. This difference speaks
volumes to the perception of the two activists. Reading his autobiography educates people on the
reality of Malcom X s beliefs and life story. Like Angelou s autobiography Malcom X has a distinct
perception of White people as the ideal, at least at the start of the novel. I Endured all of that pain...to

4. Christian and Environmental Stewardship
Christians and Stewardship of Their Environment 1. Introduction Our earthly habitat is not an
unexpected occurrence of little worth, but rather, it is one to be highly valued and preserved. The
biblical doctrine of creation helps the Christian to understand the true significance of the world in
order to deal with the environmental crisis. The Bible says, For thus saith the Lord that created the
heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in
vain, he formed it to be inhabited... (King James Version, Isaiah 45:18). In Christian teaching, God not
only created Heavens and Earth, but expressed His delight in His creation. This creation meant,
everything encompassing the trees, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That means we do not have the right to do with the earth as we see fit. We cannot exploit the land and
suck it dry of all of its natural resources. To be a steward is to manage the property of another; that
means to care for it and use it properly, not exploit or abuse the resources of the master. On the other
hand, we are not to revere or worship the earth as God s creation to the point where we fail to subdue
it. God commands us to have dominion over the animal kingdom and to subdue the earth (Genesis
1:28). Pro environmental groups like Deep Ecology believe that humans have an obligation to
themselves and the environment as well. They believe that all forms of life have the right to exist, and
that humans aren t any different from other species. They basically say that humans are equal to other
species. ( Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy ). This is the sin that Saint Paul refers to: Because they
exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator,
who is blessed forever (King James Version, Romans 1:25). Just as it is a sin to ruthlessly exploit the
earth and its resources for greedy gain, so too is it a sin to revere the earth as an object of worship. We
must walkout a balance between worship and exploitation, and that is where the stewardship model
comes in. The stewardship model sees the earth as a blessed gift from God for the advancement and
nurturing of human

5. Analysis Of The Poem The Fountain
Tommy in the Fountain is a character faced with the dilemma of mortality in the physical realm and
can not accept the grim, inevitable death that faces all of humankind. In the world of The fountain,
there are three planes of existence which correlate to the past, present, and future/consciousness.
Darren Aronofsky intertwines these three times periods creating a nonlinear perspective of time, but it
is in line with the general plot of the movie. Aronofsky wants the viewer to link the time periods
together where the past is the story depicted in the book, and the future can be seen as his
consciousness. A character that stays apparent in these settings is Izzi. Izzi guides the main character
to accept the grim fate of death and to reach a state of knowledge which will potentially enlighten him.
She helps Tommy understand the meaning of death by bringing the immediacy and expectancy, and
forcing Tommy to finish it, referring to the book and his understanding of death. Completing the book
results in the journey that Tommy takes to enlightenment, the acceptance.
The relationship between these characters really create the whole importance of realizing death is
ultimately an act of creation. Present day Tommy is faced with a cancer stricken Izzi where she is
enlightened during her death and immortalized . Izzi is also depicted as the tree of life in Tommy s
consciousness and Queen Elizabeth of Spain. The Tree of Life is a symbol of immortality, with Izzi

6. Observation And Inclinometer Analysis
In conclusion the study done has provided us with the scores we set out to achieve for the Inter rater
reliability and SEM and the Intra rater reliability and SEM. Firstly, we can take a look at and evaluate
the method of measurement that was found to be the most accurate, the Goniometer. The scores of the
Inter rater reliability and SEM, and the Intra rater reliability and SEM were very similar and both
scored just below a score of 1. The Goniometer was found to be most reliable and for several reasons.
One of the main reasons is when used correctly you are able to use bony projections/landmarks
(Greater Trochanter, Lateral Epicondyle and Lateral Malleolus) on the patient to line it up. This allows
us to produce more accurate and consistent scores and in doing so greatly reduces the room for human
error. When lined up with the projections/landmarks the Goniometer can produce scores within a few
degrees of error even when being used by a less skilled or less experienced assessor. Therefore, when
comparing this with the other two methods Observation and Inclinometer you can immediately see
where, why and how they become less accurate. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This method requires years of experience, a good keen eye, and consistency and confidence in the
evaluations. This shows in Table 2, as the most substantial difference recorded between the inter rater
and intra rater scores of the Observation method. Then when we look at the Inclinometer, the room for
error lies within the use of the equipment provided. The inclinometer needs to be set to 0 degrees from
a surface parallel to the surface being measured, this being the first possibility of error between
assessors. The second is the placement of the inclinometer on the patient when the action of knee
extension is

A Picture of the Modern Day Father Figure
. The quintessential Father figure of the early 20th century was characterized by being the main
breadwinner and disciplinarian of the family. Although he viewed himself as a role model, he had very
little involvement in the nurturing and caregiving of his children. However, as soon as this idea about
the role of the father became the norm, it was already undergoing an immense amount of change. With
the growing acceptance of feminist ideals, gender roles have become more neutral, and economic
trends have brought higher levels of financial equality to woman over the years. Subsequently,
contemporary parenting has begun to redefine the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the recent Pew Research Center study, Growing Number of Dads Home with the Kids: Biggest
increase among those caring for family, Author Gretchen Livingston claims that the main reason why
many fathers stay at home with their children is either due to disability or unemployment, yet the
fastest growing category of stay at home dads, increasing four fold since 1989, are dads who choose to
stay home to take care of home and family (6).
The Pew report statistics give a clear picture of how family dynamics have shifted in recent years, but
it still leaves the question: why are more fathers choosing to take on the role of caregiver, rather than
the more traditional role of breadwinner as did fathers in past generations? Like most sociological
questions of this nature, the answer is complex. According to the academic journal I Feel Like a Rock
Star : Fatherhood for Stay at Home Fathers by Catherine Richards Solomon, two of the main reasons
fathers are choosing to stay home with their children these days include: their wives having higher
earning potential, and the couples belief that one parent staying at home with the child plays a crucial
role in the well being of the family (7 8). While all of the parents in Solomon s study valued the idea
of one parent staying home, they held no distinction about what sex makes a better caregiver
(Solomon, 9). Solomon herself writes Although for

8. Virginia Woolf s To The Lighthouse Essay
She was not inventing; she was only trying to smooth out something she had been given years ago
folded up; something she had seen. For in the rough and tumble of daily life, with all those children
about, all those visitors, one had constantly a sense of repetition of one thing falling where another had
fallen, and so setting up an echo which chimed in the air and made it full of vibrations. (199)
What causes that crumpling? What makes the accumulated images fold up over the years? How can
one smooth out the folds? These are the pivotal questions raised in the above passage, which captures
the central exploration in Virginia Woolf s To the Lighthouse. Change and chaos create folds in Lily s
life. She clings ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ramsay, the model hostess. Lily even feels like she is soaking up some of Mrs. Ramsay s glory a
collective, feminine splendor just by being in her presence. On the other hand, Lily harbors an
aversion for Mrs. Ramsay. For instance, this reproof surfaces during the dinner party, when Lily
observes that Mrs. Ramsay led her victims...to the altar (Woolf 101). Although both contradictory
impulses are strong, her criticism of Mrs. Ramsay gains intensity in the novel s end. Consequently,
Lily s wrestle with Mrs. Ramsay s invisible presence makes the two becomes antagonists (Andre par.
12).
A general sense of chaos also creases Lily s life. Andre notes that the Greek word khaos denotes an
abyss, which is related to chasm (par. 3). This chasm, or distance, is the source of Lily s conflict,
because Woolf associates it with change. When Mr. Ramsay sets out to the lighthouse, for example,
Lily relates the distance with change: Already the little distance they had sailed had put them far from
it and given it the changed look, the composed look, of something receding in which one has no
longer any part (Woolf 166). Lily s awareness of the chaos deepens it; she is aware of the disorder
around her and the complexity of her responses to that disorder (Gorsky 103). Her concerted effort to
respond, to discern some pattern in existence, and, if necessary...to impose a sense of order on the
constant flux of daily life

9. Reflexes Chapter 6 Summary
Chapter six is about learning and the different ways we learn to do things. Instinct and reflexes are
things we are naturally born with. They are not something we learn as we get older. That s how babies
know how to suckle on their mother s breast and how baby sea turtles know how to find the ocean and
swim to it. Reflexes is a person s ability to respond quickly without conscious thought while instinct is
a fixed pattern of behavior in animals in response to certain events. Both of these behaviors helps
organisms adapt to its environment. While these two behaviors are natural for organisms learning is
something that changes your behavior or knowledge through experience. Learning is getting

In his experiments with dogs, Pavlov implanted tubes inside of dogs cheeks to measure how much
saliva the dogs produced in response to various foods. Over a period of time, he began to notice that
the dogs began to salivate at the sight of food, empty food bowl, and at the sound of the laboratory
assistants footsteps. Since salivating to food in the mouth is a reflexive and salivating at the sight of an
empty food bowl is not this intrigued Pavlov. He conducted a lot of controlled experiments and he was
then able to train the dogs to salivate to things that had nothing to do with food, like the sound of the
bell. He came to the conclusion that organisms had two types of responses to its environment:
unconditioned responses and conditioned responses. In Pavlov s experiments, everytime meat powder
was presented to the dogs they would salivate. The meat powder was an unconditioned stimulus,
which is an event that draws out a reflexive response in an organism. The dog s salivation was an
unconditioned response, which is a natural reaction to an event. Next Pavlov would sound a tone and
then give the dogs the meat powder. The tone was a neutral stimulus, which is something that does not
usually draw out a response. The dogs would not salivate to the sound of the tone. But when Pavlov
would pair the tone with the meat powder repeatedly, the tone began to draw out salivation from the
dogs. So the neutral stimulus became the conditioned stimulus an event that causes a response being
repeatedly paired with an unconditioned stimulus. And then later on the dogs began to salivate to the
sound of the tone

Before I was able to describe the similarities and differences of the diets, I first needed to figure out
what exactly they were. The DASH eating plan as intentions to lower hypertension, USDA food
patterns were created for citizens to follow their dietary guidelines, and the Mediterranean diet is not a
diet, if is a lifestyle (Wiley, Visualizing Nutrition) that one will normally continue with. Some
similarities between the diets are that they all want you to intake the correct amount of food, no more
no less, and they all focus on very similar types of food. While reading our Visualizing nutrition book,

Some of these common claims say promise of fast weight loss quantities and imitations, promotes
specific food combinations, and no need to be physically active. (WordsonWellness). You never want
to all of the sudden and dramatically lose weight, it is far better to gradually lose weight. FAD diets
that avoid eating multiple food groups take away the vitamins that the human body needs to survive
and be healthy. FAD diets that tell you to eat at certain times are also incorrect, you should eat when
you feel hungry but only eat until you are satisfied and not full. Lastly, diets that say you do not need
any physical activity may be shedding weight off of your body, but you are not gaining muscle and
becoming stronger, in the long term you may even feel weaker. Many people who become apart of the
FAD diet community think that their health will improve, in some cases this is inaccurate. Based on
what I have learned in past nutrition classes and my own personal experience they can actually be very
bad for your health, not just the inside of your body, but the outside too. You may notice muscle and
even hair loss. I had a friend who started losing her hair when starting a very common FAD diet. You
will also notice deficiencies in your nutrition especially if you cut out carbs because they are the main
source of our energy.

intent of this document is to provide suggestion for the timeline to release Oxyglobin. I would
recommend releasing Oxyglobin to the market as soon as possible. Situation Analysis: There has been
a debate if Oxyglobin release should be delayed by two years as it might jeopardize the sales of
Hemopure. The concern here is that the estimated price of Oxyglobin ($150 per unit) might not allow
Hemopure to be released at a higher estimated price as $600 per unit. As per my analysis this should
not be a major concern as the advantages of releasing outweighs this concern. Here are the reasons
why Oxyglobin should be released soon in the market: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

12. Privatizing Urban Transportation Can Work With Timely...
The privatizing of urban transportation can work with timely public planning. A lot of the issues to be
considered are due to poor maintenance, slow expansion of streets, urban highways and excessive
congestion in many cities. Public and private partnerships can be used to improve the timing of
investments and ensure adequate maintenance of highways. Because of the lack of funding and
political red tape at both the local and federal levels, privatized funding can help with the development
of roadways, create jobs and complete the task at hand. Although privatization terms and conditions of
contracted developers of urban planning can create an inflexed rate in the use of tolls for many road
ways and highways it can reduce the congestion in many cities. This paper will explore the how poor
maintenance, slow expansion of streets and urban highways and excessive congestion are chronic in
many cities. The research will argue claims that public private partnerships can be used to improve the
timing of new investments, ensure adequate maintenance of highways and streets and manage
congestion with road user charges. It will also elaborate on how this theory of public and private
planning can only work with timely public planning, deft contract design and enforcement and
competent inter jurisdiction coordination as well as show that Public/Private Partnerships (PPPs) do
not relieve the public budget of its financial obligation. The research will touch on how PPPs are

Developing savory rosti crsps (cast study 6)
Most people see the snack market as dynamic and innovative, but actually it is surprisingly
conservative. Most of what passes for product innovation is in fact tinkering with our marketing
approach, things like special offers, promotion tie ins and so on. We occasionally put new packs round
our existing products and even more occasionally we introduce new flavors in existing product ranges.
Rarely though does anyone in their industry introduce something radically different. That is why

team will carry out much of the worked themselves, they will still need the corporation and the
resources of their own departments. So, as well as being part of the team, they are also gateways to

14. Describe The Relationship Between Putin And Thomas Hobbes
Russia s power has increased a lot over the past few years. Not only has their nation increased power,
so has their leader, Vladimir Putin. Putin has many interesting aspects as a person and in his
governmental styles. He gained these from many different people including Thomas Hobbes, and John
Locke. Vladimir Putin s policies are both supported by John Locke and Thomas Hobbes, but when it
comes to Vladimir Putin as a person only Hobbes is right.
Putin believes that one man can control all and prevent damage from occurring. While working in the
KGB he began discovering the power and strength one man can have. He started to think along the
lines of Thomas Hobbes; believing the ideas that all men are evil and need one ruler to control them.

to worry about possible revolutions. When some people first come to office, they typically try to make
their plans happen. This wasn t the case when Vladimir Putin came to power. When Putin came to be
president he was a faced with a serious issue that was previously left for him, he had to solve the
Ukraine conflict. The power of the Society, or legislative, constituted by them, can never be supposed

his people, while doing so he also made his country even safer than it was originally. Solving the
Ukraine conflict allowed people within and around that area to feel safer. Instead of being neutral in
the situation like other countries, he got involved. Putin may appear fierce but he has a soft spot for
the safety of his own and others.

Putin s personality Hobbes was the better comparison point. But, when it comes to his policies, they

15. Essay Comparing Lady Of Shalott And Aurora Leigh
The Victorian Age was a period of development and redefining social conventions. Throughout the
chaos enveloping the changing world, literature from the time period reveals profound concepts which
aligns with the dynamic reinvention of societal constructs. Literature from the Victorian Era addresses
the importance of art, staging it as a hindrance or benefit to society. Antagonistic views referring to the
representation of art reflects the confusion and controversy of the time. The poem, The Lady of
Shalott by Alfred Tennyson and the epic novel, Aurora Leigh, by Elizabeth Barrett Browning both
stress the significance of art in society. However, they portray opposing views with regards to art
being expressive or restrictive, the depiction of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Lady of Shalott, Tennyson characterizes art as being a restrictive force, acting against
individual desires. In the poem, the Lady s dwelling place is described as, Four gray walls, and four
grapy towers (Tennyson 15), where she is forced to reside in solitude. The poem reads, Only reapers,
reaping early / In among the bearded barley, / Hear a song that echoes cheerly (Tennyson 28 30). The
Lady s isolation, underlined by her ambiguity and lack of interaction with the external world,
authenticates her imprisonment, and furthermore poses her artwork as the oppressor. The poem
therefore suggests that art is restrictive, for the Lady of Shalott is secluded in a hidden tower and
deserted from the rest of mankind against her wishes, as she claims she is half sick of shadows
(Tennyson 71). Having the Lady s artwork confine her to the tower depicts art as a form of
punishment over those creating it. Therefore, Tennyson s The Lady of Shalott displays art as an
essential asset to enforce accepted conventional beliefs, supporting the ideology that art inevitably
separates individuals from society, and their own

16. High School Pressure
The Pressure of High School High school is basically one big popularity contest, and the students will
do anything it takes to be the winner. Everyone wants the most friends and to be at the best parties, at
any cost. The students are young and experiencing new things, and that makes them very naïve and
impressionable. Peer pressure is a very common aspect that students give in to just to be a cool kid.
Peer pressure can push people into doing things that they wouldn t normally do. I was sixteen years
old going into my sophomore year of high school at a new school. I had no idea what to expect, other
than I knew I needed to make friends quickly to avoid digging myself a social grave. As days past, I
found myself hanging out with two girls, Kayla and Lexi, who were in a couple of my classes. They
showed me the ins and outs and told me all about the current high school drama, so I would feel like I
was in the loop. The three of us grew close within the next few weeks, we would hang out almost
every day and eventually we planned our very first sleepover together at Kayla s house. I was
expecting to do the normal sleepover activities like, making cookies, watching movies, and talking
about all the latest gossip. What I was expecting was not what happened. One Friday night, Kayla,
Lexi, and I, were in the living room when Kayla s mother came to tell us that she was going to sleep.

17. Modern Technology And Its Impact On Society
Before modern technology, men would band together for the protection of their families. History has
proven people group together for survival, whether that be warmth, food, or protection. The idea was
that a group is stronger and more profitable than one person acting alone. Each tribe or gathering of
individuals working together is considered a society. A society is nothing more than a group of people
living together for a common purpose, or simply because it is more convenient. But, if all societies
were thriving entities, then we would not know the hardships that have repeated throughout history,
such as, poverty and famine. On the contrary, a society that works well is a society that works for the
well being of its individual members. A high functioning and successful society is built on a
foundation of trust and equality and enforced by a governing body. Trust in people is merely a
relationship of reliance and an intrinsic part of human nature. It is established at the family level and
expands outward as the child matures. Each being depends on their families to provide as one depends
on educators to teach. Furthermore, trust is necessary for institutions such as schools, hospitals,
businesses, and even the government to effectively operate. The workforce expects their employers to
give a cash able paycheck in return for their hard worked hours; consumers give a business
compensation on the basis of receiving a product or service in return; and individuals put their

Tangled is a Disney movie created to tell the story of Rapunzel, a young girl taken by a witch and

about a young girl locked in a tower. Although they seem quite similar, there are quite a few
differences between the movie Tangled and the Brothers Grimm Rapunzel . One difference occurs at
the beginning and how the evil witch gains possession of Rapunzel. In the Brothers Grimm story, the
witch agrees to let the man give the rampion from her garden to his wife as long as she gets their first
born. She said the child that will come into the world must be given to me. It shall go well with the
child, and I will care for it like a mother. In the movie Tangled, a queen is pregnant and gets sick. To
heal her, people are sent out to look for a flower that cures all diseases. When the baby is born, she has
magical hair that can heal everybody and make you young again. The evil witch breaks into the castle
to cut a piece of the baby s hair but learns that once it s cut, it loses it s power. So instead, she takes

19. What Was The Impact Of The Black Panther Party

Civil Rights
5/11/16
The impact of The Black Panther Party We knew, as a revolutionary vanguard, repression would be
the reaction of our oppressors, but we recognized that the task of the revolutionist is difficult and his
life is short. We were prepared then, as we are now, to give our all in the interest of oppressed people
(Baggins). Radical and provocative, the 60 s was an era of complete political and social upheaval.
Although the Civil Rights Act of 1964 had banned the discrimination of people based on race, color,
religion, sex, or national origin, the execution of this act were initially proven weak. Unlike other
national organizations or campaigns against the U.S. government, the Black Panther Party for Self
Defense remains the only organization to take a militant stance, frequently seen campaigning armed
and proudly wielding weapons. Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, the founders of the Black Panthers,
believed that the peaceful and non violent campaign of Martin Luther King had failed, and had very
little faith in the implementation of the traditional civil rights movement. Newton casually addresses
his violent conducts, stating, And people say, well Huey you re so violent. Why are you so violent
Huey? ...And I say, well hey, existence is violent; I exist, therefore I am violent in that way (PBS).
Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale established the Black Panther Party for Self Defense in Oakland
California, during October of 1966.

Introduction to Philosophy

A Defense of Peter Singer s Famine Relief Argument In his paper Famine affluence and morality ,
Peter Singer sought to provide response to a significant moral question: Is it morally permissible to
not donate to famine? Singer argued that we are morally obligated to famine relief. I am deeply
convinced by his argument. In this paper, I shall examine two significant objections to singer s
argument and explain why they would ultimately fail. Singer s original argument takes the following
form:
(P1) Suffering and death from lack of food, shelter and medical care are bad
(P2) If we can prevent something bad from happening without sacrificing anything of comparable
moral importance, then we are morally obligated to do so.
(P3) Death caused by famine is something bad that happens that we can prevent without sacrificing
anything of comparable moral importance (namely, by donating to famine relief).
(C) Therefore, we ought to donate to famine relief. Singer assumed premise 1 to be undoubtedly true,
which is manifested by his statement: It is difficult, perhaps impossible, to refute such positions, and
so for brevity I will henceforth take this assumption as accepted. (Singer, 2) Those who disagree need
read no further. To support the second premise of his argument, he provided the following situation:
Shallow Pond: Imagine that you are going to work. On your way to work, you see a child drowning in
a pond.

After blindfolding a friend that is seated on the chair with his or her legs positioned one over the other,
sound the buzzer before immediately tapping your friend just below his or her knee with the clinical
hammer. Wait for 5 seconds before repeating this procedure for 20 to 30 times, making sure in each
trial that the buzzer is sounded immediately before the tapping of your friend s knee. After numerous
pairings, it is theoretically possible to observe a reflexive knee jerk even without tapping your friend s
knee, once the buzzer sounds. In this classical conditioning experiment, the tapping of the person s
knee with a clinical hammer is the UCS, as it is a naturally occurring stimulus that elicits the UCR,
which in this case is the reflexive knee jerk action. The distinctive sound given out by the buzzer was
initially the NS, but eventually became the CS, after 20 to 30 pairings with the UCS within close
intervals of 5 seconds during the experiment. It has become a stimulus that is subsequently capable of
eliciting a learned reflex response on its own (CR) which was originally an UCR, because it has been
paired with the original UCS. This can be seen from the results shown by the classical conditioning
experiment conducted above. After the numerous pairings between the sound given out by the buzzer
(NS) and the tapping of the knee using a clinical

28. Theme Of Hercules In The Iliad
The theme of an epic poem or short story is arguably the literary element that has the greatest effect on
conflict in a story.
Theme is what the characters and the audience are supposed to take away after finishing the story. In
Hercules and The Iliad, the overall themes of each story help to almost determine the conflict to come,
and how that conflict will help to shape the character.
Many consider the main theme of The Iliad to be the very first line in the entire epic poem, in which a
muse sings a song about the wrath of Achilles . This opening line of dialogue sets up the epic in a way
that enable a lot of conflict to be set up.
No man alive could keep the dog packs off you, not if they haul in ten, twenty times that ransom and
pile it here before me and promise fortunes more (Beers 64).
In this quote, Achilles is brutally informing Hector that he will not return his body back to his family
once he has died. This reflects back onto the theme of the wrath of Achilles , demonstrates how one
person s wrath can lead to deadly conflicts.
In Hercules, one theme that is commonly found is persevering against all of the struggles that one may
encounter. In this epic poem, Hercules has to complete twelve challenges in order to prove he is a
virtuous man (Hamilton). These twelve challenges easily allows for one conflict after another to occur
throughout the entire story.

People are susceptible to memory alterations from misleading information to their own self reported
choices (choice blindness) as well as to events that are just seen (misinformation effect). Using these
two concepts, the authors used a combination of the misinformation paradigm (misinformation effect)
and choice blindness paradigm to examine the long term effects of choice blindness. Using an
integrative approach, the authors hypothesized the influence of other sourced information to changes
(e.g. In a previous trial, another participant said... ) in memory reports, and the inability to detect
alterations in memory reports. Overall, the authors hypothesized the development of false memories
from exposure to inaccurate memory reports.

participants answered ten questions relating to the slideshow (e.g. What color was the thief s jacket?).

30. Social Work Values
Social work is a vast field with complex and numerous factors that can create confusion on what
exactly the social work profession is. Many theories and values have been assigned to social work
based scientific development and studies, assumptions and inherent beliefs, which can only add to the
chaotic understanding of the profession. Although the National Association of Social Workers
(NASW) was only founded in 1955, (Platt and Cooreman 2001, pg. 113) social work has been utilized
for centuries, including Henry VIII of England who passed an act mandating, local parishes to take
care of their destitute and create a procedure for the collection and administration of donations to the
poor. (Platt and Cooreman 2001, pg. 92). Discussed in the following is a more concrete definition of
social work along with core values needed to be acquired to support the practice of social work
effectively. Social work can be defined as, promoting social justice and social change with and on
behalf of clients. (NASW, 2008, Preamble) Simply put, social workers are there to advocate and
promote a more tolerable world in which everyone in society is treated equally, with fairness and are
provided the same opportunities. In addition to this definition, some value assumptions have to be
clearly made in order to support the profession of social work. The values that best compliment the
above definition are most suitably described in the National Association of Social Workers (NASW)

1 Introduction
A control chart was invented in the early of 1920 s by Walter A. Shewart in the Bell Telephone
Laboratories. In 1928 he was introduced the first Statistical Process Control Charts in the Bell
Laboratories to improve the quality of telephones manufactured, he was developed a simple graphical
method for the growing range of statistical process control charts (Montgomery,2010).
Quality of a product or services is defined as its fitness for the use for which it has been made. Many
characteristics of a product determine the quality. They are called quality characteristics. Some of the
quality characteristics are shape, weight, size, diameter, strength, colour, hardness, surface finish,
reliability and appearance, etc.
In a manufacturing process, all the products will not be exactly a same. Quality will vary from piece to
piece. That is, there will be variations in quality characteristics of products. The causes for these
variations are found out and analysed. Suitable corrective action is to be taken to minimise the
variations within certain limits. This is done to maintain the quality. Statistical quality control charts
techniques are used to improvement the quality process in automobile parts manufacturing company.
Quality is a concept of several meanings, subjective and individual to the interpreter. When
mentioning that something is of a certain quality, it is assumed and associated to be good in some way.
