The Little Known Victims of the Holocaust Essay
The Little Known Victims of the Holocaust Many people look back on the Holocaust today and
realize that so many abysmal and hideous things happened. The genocide of the Jews is known
but what may be less well documented is Hitler s design to eradicate all groups other than the
blue eyed, fair haired Aryans. So many of them were forgotten and just pushed in with the major
race of the Jews, who were said to be unworthy of life. The people were not ready, nor expecting to
be forced into such an egregious state of being. Adolf Hitlerexcruciatingly persecuted every race
that he thought was unsuitable for his dream of a Master Race. On September 1, 1939, Hitler
began the start of World War II. He decided that he wanted to build what he

Hitler thought that they were the only children of God and the Jews and other non German
races were here only to be once removed; they were an undeserving race to be on Earth
(Berenbaum 68). Every victim of the Holocaust was under the category of The Untermenschen ,
which meant that they were not considered human and were treated horrendously. The Slavs,
Poles, Gypsies, German homosexuals, Blacks, and the Communists were killed. Even the
disabled and every one with incurable illnesses were Untermenschen as far as Hitler was
concerned. The major race, besides the Jews, that was to be eliminated completely was the
Romanian Gypsies (Friedman 7). No one of that race was allowed to live. From the ages zero to
one hundred, absolutely no one was to remain alive. In the beginning, the Gypsies were treated
poorly and their talent and success became a major threat to all the local people. It was then that
Hitler decided they were not to be around anymore. They were all considered like second class
citizens if not more poorly. The Nazi s were even told to experiment on them to try to prove that
the Gypsies were somehow of different blood and not like that of the Master Race. A perverse
man, Dr, Mengele, did shocking and appalling experiments on people and he was especially
interested in experiments on twins. Despite the fact that a

How Did Jacob Riis Impact Society
Jacob Riis was a journalist who made a big impact on society during the progressive era.
He managed to open the eyes of the wealthy and showed them the brutal conditions of the poor in
New York City during the progressive era. All the way from the time he was very young, he was
helping people in need. His background from where he grew up definitely impacted his motives
behind his causes. Jacob Riis altered society in a big way during the early 1900s.
Motivation
Riis was inspired by his past experiences and his personal, moral beliefs. Riis
(1849 1914) may have had an affinity for immigrants since he, too, had moved to the United
States from his native Denmark in 1870... (Roger Catlin). Riis sympathized with the poverty

Jacob Riis had to go through many experiences in order to progress as a journalist.
Contributions
Jacob Riis had a major role in American History due to the fact that he contributed greatly to the
cleansing of the New York slums. Toiling in New York s Lower East Sidebefore the turn of the last
century, the crusading newspaperman used the newly developed breadbox size camera to shine
light on overcrowding, poverty and squalor in the tenements. (The Washington Post). Jacob Riis

The Feasibility Of Miniature Horses Serving As Guide Animals
Introduction
I am an animal lover and have direct experience with dogs and horses due to the fact that I own six
horses and three dogs. I have always been amazed every time I see a service dog and its client. I
have always seen dogs used as the service animal. One day at work, I overheard one of my co
workers mentioned the use of miniature ponies as service animals. I was intrigued by the idea of a
miniature pony serving as a guide animal. They have mentioned studies being conducted on this
subject, and I have decided to make this my research topic for this class.
Purpose
The purpose for this research paper was to discover the feasibility of miniature horses serving as
guide animals. I know not all people like dogs or don t trust dogs. What are disabled persons
choices in service animals? How about disabled individuals that are allergic to dogs? I will
research documents on miniature horses used as service animals, identify the pros and cons of my
subject, look for examples demonstrating my subjects abilities, and examine the adaptability of
dogs and miniature horses.
Significance
I hope this study will give handicapped or people who are challenged with every day task a choice
of what animal will be their service partner. I always see dogs as service animals, and I would like
to find out if they can have a choice. I know a lot of people that do not like dogs or are allergic to
dogs. This research could provide answers to issues with service animals and their

A Brief Article On Being An Atheist
Response Paper on H.J. McCloskey article On being an atheist
Name
Course
Date
During the year 1968, an atheist philosopher H.J. McCloskey came up with a powerful argument
about how being an atheist was greater than the theistic way of life. Through this article,
McCloskey finds a way to condemn numerous arguments which theist consider as true and in most
cases seem to mock and impeach the believers of God. Some of the arguments that McCloskey tries
to diminish are the three mutual proofs that most theists depend upon for their belief in God. The
proofs include; cosmological proof, teleological proof and the argument from design. McCloskey
also talks about the complications of evil and how its presence rejects the truth about God. At the
end of the article, he maintains that atheism is heartening, meaning that it is more calming than
theism. Below are a detailed discussion and validity of the truth about the three claims that
McCloskey wants to rebate in the article and finally dispute the problem of evil to censure the
thought that atheism is cool and comforting1.
McCloskey mostly insults the theistic opinion as one of ignorance and ambiguity. Referring to the
believers of God, he say they do not think hard enough nor far enough about the difficulty of an
uncaused reason, who has to be a unavoidably existing being to prove that the argument is far less
conclusive than it appears to be at first sight. In addition, his reference of theists as being ignorant

How Has The Eucharist Changed Over Time
Rituals are events that provide a sense of acceptance and that are done regularly and enjoyed by
many. Rituals mainly refer to a family, religious or community ceremony, rituals also express
emotions such as love and togetherness. The ritual of the Eucharist has changed dramatically over
the past years from the last supper, where Jesusshared his body to his disciples.
The Eucharist is for people in modern times to commemorate Jesus life. The earliest written gospel
of the Eucharista meaning thanksgiving in Greek is located in the First Epistle to the Corinthians
around 55 AD in which Paul wrote to the apostles eating the bread and drinking the cup of the lord
by all and celebrating what is named the supper of the lord . This historical ... Show more content on

Pius touched the lives of many individuals as he believed his presence on earth was a symbol of

the state of grace and who approaches the Holy table with a right and devout intention can
lawfully be hindered therefrom . According to the Vatican II the Eucharist is the source of the

The use of grammar has been my weakness on most of my papers. Since I start taking courses in
Montgomery College, I have been working hard on my grammar usage. Although I have made some
improvements, I still struggle with using the preposition and having missing words. Missing words
are my main struggle throughout the course. For instance, on the Nature essay, before the draft due,
I proofread it, and went to writingcenter a couple times; however, I still had some missing words
on my paperthat my instructor point out. Although I tried super hard to get the concept of it, I

Biblical Worldviews
God created out of love the whole universe in a majestic way. He wants us not only to enjoy His
precious resources and satisfy our wants and needs, but also to increase and improve what we
have and not decrease or diminish it. God entrusted us with everything we have and He can call us
to account at any time, that is why we have to be well prepared for this call.
God gives humans the privilege to rule this world and to use His resources wisely and
purposefully. In Genesis 1:26, God said, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, and
let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth,
and over all the creatures that move along the ground (Genesis 1:26, NIV).

Humans are the biggest enemy of the Earth and they are the most polluting species. Earth is very
good at recycling waste, but we are generating far more than earth can handle. Pollution happens at
different levels and it does not just impact our planet; it impacts all species, including mankind, who
dwell on it (Patterson, n.d.). A group of scientists from McGill University recently published a

Eating Disorders And Excessive Exercise
EATING DISORDERS AND EXCESSIVE EXERCISE IN SPORT 2 Introduction One essential
part of competitive sport is nutrition and exercise. These factors are important because they can
considerably affect an athlete s performance. In the Perfect Body, Andie, an aspiring Olympic
gymnast, engages in a strict diet to fit her sporting norm. Her coach pushes her to lose weight,
and she feels pressured to maintain a small build. In order to reach the professional level, Andie
uses extreme measures such as self induced vomiting, fasting, and excessive exercise to control
her weight. While these methods may seem to improve performance initially, they may be signs
of an eating disorder. Compulsive exercise may also lead to burnout and overuse injuries.
Ultimately, food restrictions and overtraining can damage an athlete s health and performance.
Summary In the Perfect Body, Andie specializes in gymnastics from a very young age. In hopes
of reaching the Olympic level, she works with a leading, professional coach. She is willing do
whatever it takes to reach an elite status. On Andie s first day of training, her coach recommends
that she should lose weight to optimize performance. She fears that if she eats normally she will not
be able to compete at an elite level. Then Andie s teammate introduces her to deliberate bingeing
and purging, damaging methods of weight control. Initially she eats regularly, but soon she starts to
restrict her diet to

Grime has gigantic potential, both commercially and artistically. But it s always failed to live up
to expectations, and violence is partly to blame. Most promoters now find it impossible to put on
grime in clubs, because grime nights have been unofficially outlawed by the police.
Deja Vu FM, Rinse FM, Flex FM, Freeze FM, Axe FM were some of the first radio stations
illegally held up in high rise flats in and around London town. which started to play the grime

Grime began as a London based movement, yet rapidly keeps running into debate when various

Advanced Technology In The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire was one of the many great nations in human history. The Byzantine empire
was formed in 330 A.D when Constantine moved the Roman Empire capital from Rome to the
Greek city of Byzantium, in what is now modern day Turkey. Constantine eventually changed the
name of the capital city to Constantinople. Constantinople remained the capital of the empire for
the rest of its days. The movement of the capital, however, led to the division of the Roman Empire
into Western and Eastern Rome. Although the west fell, the east survived and eventually became
the Byzantine empire, which would last for hundreds of years. A combination of advanced
technology, specialized workers, complex institutions, advanced cities, and record keeping made the
Byzantine empire one of the leading civilizations of its time.
The first aspect that defines a civilization is having advanced technology. Many of these
technologies are portrayed in the city of Constantinople in its architecture and the city s defense.
One example of these defensive technologies was the use of defensive chains in several
waterways, such as the Golden Horn. These incredibly sturdy chains were set at the mouth of the
waterways in order to prevent enemy ships from sailing through the passages. Towers were another
example of defensive technology built along the city s outer walls. These towers helped to create
stability in the walls and were excellent lookout posts and great spots for archers to mount during
an invasion

The Christian Apologetics
At the onset of the Christian faith, its followers faced a difficult period in which they had to deal
with many internal and external forces of confusion about their new faith. With Christianity being a
rather close subdivision of Judaism, the followers of Christianity are faced with the task of
supporting their beliefs and practices deeming why they are justifiable. In this apologetic period,
these Jewish Christians embark on the task of defending their church and the religionitself in order
to establish its credibility and existence. The Christian Apologetics main aim was to give a reasoned
defense of their church s way of life in a Christian community struggling to find its identity.

Importance Of Reflection In Writing
I have made a phenomenal amount of progress this semester. English 101 has made me a better
writer and editor. Because the modules and peer editing reviews it was easy to correct and learn
from my mistakes. As a writer, I think I can still make an amount of improvement. With it being
from mechanic errors and to clear organization skills. As for providing clear and relevant
examples I have made improvements. I say I m an average, but growing writer. I have my skills
and weakness, but I still try harder. When I first came to English 101 I thought I had it down
packed. In high school, I took AP Lit, a advanced placement English class. AP Lit offered a college
level course, teaching us high school students college curricular. But when I received my first
assignment, I hesitated, not knowing what to write. Then modules were introduced, making it
better to reflect on. Constantly I relied on modules and notes, which helped me improve in my
writing, in result giving me better feedback. As I progress along the semester, my final paper
grades have improved. From starting on my political analysis project to finishing my argumentative
essay. My political analysis paper ended with a 70%. The 70% is from the lack of transition and
the lack of specific audiences. Also analyzing my information and relating back to my thesis. My

Fantasy Elements In House Taken Over By Julio Cortazar
It wouldn t do to have some poor devil decide to go in and rob the house, at that hour and with the
house taken over. (Cortazar 42). Fantasy elements like this one are widely utilized and
encompassed in the short story called House Taken Over by author, Julio Cortazar. Cortazar
incorporates fantasy in this magical realism selection into the setting and details incorporated, the
way the characters act, main events and the unimpressed tone also expresses a magical vibe. He
entangles this magical theme into the aspect of realism. Within House Taken Over there is a
balanced amount of realistic and mystical events and features.
The setting and specific details portray magical realism in this short story by Cortazar. The house in
this captivating selection is described in a realistic manner. We liked the house because, apart
from its being old and spacious (in a day where house go down for a profitable auction of their
construction materials), it kept the memories of great grandparents, our paternal grandfather, our
parents and the whole of childhood. (Cortazar 37). This explains the ancient house to be
generational and pasted down to the characters living in it now. The peculiar way the characters
live in this house is where the fantasy element begins. There is a massive oak door separating two
parts of the mansion and the characters really ever go on the other side of it. Another unusual detail
in the story is the fact that they have money piling up, from farms

Jean Luc Godard s Weekend as Didactic Self-Reflexive Cinema

Didactic Self Reflexive Cinema According to Stephen Prince in Movies and Meaning: an
Introduction to Film, Screen Reality is a concept that pertains to the principles of time, space,
character behavior and audiovisual design that filmmakers systematically organize in a given film
to create an ordered world on screen in which characters may act and in which a narrative may

Weekend represents the culture of political violence and social experimentation, artistic and
sexual, which was the latter half of the 1960s. This somewhat comic but depressing film of
Godard s is a satirical poem and construct of the contempt with which he obviously holds
bourgeoisie society. Much of the film expresses this through the use of symbolism and
metaphor. In order to better facilitate the process whereby the audience becomes aware of
Godard s intentions and his message he introduces us to a young Parisian married couple.
Godard sets the clichГ©d couple, alienated and bourgeois, on a journey for Corinne s parents
country house, hoping to find them either dead or willing to sign the will. As they persist in
their journey we are given various opportunities to appreciate the absolute complacency and
ignorance of the couple (meant to be emblematic of all bourgeois). Godard tries to peel off the
hypocrisy of bourgeois society through the weekend trip of this Parisian middle class couple.
Weekend is a clear continuation of the style, and even ideology, which originated with Brecht s
work in the theater. Jean Luc Godard weaves didactic self reflexive techniques throughout the film,
in order to break the illusion that the spectator is watching a real, authentic world on screen rather
than a movie. In doing so, Godard finds the ability to share his discourse directly with the audience
instead of employing characters to do the job for

Mermaids Richard Van Camp Analysis
A tragic story in its own right, is a story that deals with tragic events, including an unhappy ending
that usually involves the death or demise of the main protagonist. Although Mermaids is a truly
sad and unforgiving story, it does not classify as a tragedy. Mermaids by Richard Van Camp has
close to none of the aspects that make a tragic story, truly tragic. The characters development,
ending, and tragic pattern, all support the fact that this story is sad, but not tragic.
First and foremost, the character development in Mermaids, is the polar opposite of what any
tragic story would be. The main character Torchy has no evident or visible hamartia, he is indeed a
weak character when he is first presented, however he does not have that key tragic flaw that every
protagonist in a tragic story has. He also lacks the element of peripeteia, it is true that he does
many foolish things, such as gambling, drugs, and self inflicting harm. However, none of these
acts initially lead to his demise, in fact, his poor experiences help him grow as a character. I feel
my blood drain... I lean hard against a parking meter (Van Camp 1). When first presented to us,
Torchy is shown as a person that is strong on the outside, he always has his guard up and is
constantly aware of his surroundings. However, on the inside he is a vulnerable man, conscious of
his mortality where he harms himself to relieve the pain that he is feeling. I can feel it build. I don

Essay about A National Tradegy
Tragedy
In September 11th A National Tragedy, James Peck writes about how the tragic event, September
11th has affected our world today. Peck states that tragedy is a word that has commonly been
overused by Americans throughout news articles and magazines when a significant event happens.
When referring to September 11th, the crashing of the twin towers, this is a tragic event.
Peck states, I do know life is life and theatre is theatre (735), but we as Americans immediately turn
life events into narrations where we ourselves play the roles of the characters and the plot is the
problem that is affecting us in our life. Turning significant events into narrations allows Americans
to replay events and go over them constantly throughout ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The attacks dramatize the destruction and construct America as the wealthy super power it is,
clearly these attacks were criminal acts and the attackers must be brought to justice through the

The world knows America better than us Americans know of it. Through emotion and painful
events such as this one America has came to better understand itself and the strengths that it has.
America has one of the strongest military personal in the world, allowing us to be able to react to
attacks such as this one. Peck states Since September 11th, I believe we ve been living out a
national melodrama (737). A western movie was created by President Bush Wanted: Dead or Alive
casting Osama bin Laden causing the defining moment of Americas melodrama allowing people to
be aware of the attacker by posting posters throughout the United States. America has sent military
troops over to Iraq in search of the attackers killing innocent citizen in order to voice our opinions

Literary Devices In Those Winter Sundays
Relationships between children and their parents can be complex. Often, once the child grows
up, they begin to have a greater understanding and are able to reflect on those relationships. In the
poem, Those Winter Sundays, Robert Hayden writes of a son looking back on his relationship
with his father and it s complexity. Their intricate relationship comes from the son feeling guilt
about how unaware he was of everything his father did and how blinded he was by his childish
judgments. Using details to look back on childhood, sound devices to show a masked feeling and
repetition of the word cold to elaborate on the emotional distance the father shows, the speaker
portrays his seemingly strict, yet caring father and an unknowing and indifferent... Show more

This begins with the first cold (Hayden 2) depicting a father constantly trying to do what s right for
his family and having to deal with a son who s unappreciative and constantly giving him the cold
shoulder because he can only see what shows up before him, unable to see past the wall of ice.
In the second stanza the word cold is compiled with onomatopoeia so the reader can almost hear
the sound of coldness, hear the cold splintering, breaking (Hayden 6). This signifies the son
chipping away at the ice before him and seeing past his father s rough exterior to every small
sacrifice he has done for his family. To end everything the use of the word cold (Hayden 11)
symbolizes him breaking through and driving out every piece of hostile ice blocking the view
of his true father. Once removed, he saw a man who worked hard every single day did everything
he knew how to for his family and his son. Reflecting, he asks What did I know, what did I know
/ of love s austere and lonely offices (Hayden 14)? Love was a part of everything his father did
and worked for. As a child, he only saw the side of his father that struggled to show his love
through typical words and expressions leaving him heavy with guilt. He is now unable to thank his
father for everything because what did he know of the love of a father to his

Reasons Why Bowling Should Be In The Olympics
Bowling has been around since ancient Egypt. Bowling is a great way to get exercise also, you
don t have to be extremely fit to be a bowler, and you don t even have to have legs because you
can bowl with a special helper. The Olympics have been around since Ancient Greece, so it
makes sense that those two go together. Bowling was previously in the Olympics but it was only
in the Olympics once in the 1980 s because it did not get enough viewers. Even though bowling is
not a very popular sport, it should be in the Olympics because there are bowlers from around the
world, it was previously in the Olympics, and it can have multiple events. The Professional
Bowling Association has about 4,300 members worldwide. They come from America, Mexico,...

game so the 1st person bowls they first and sixth frame, the 2nd bowler bowls the second and
seventh frame and so on until the last bowler (the anchor) bowls they fifth and the tenth frame to

Postmodernism And Modernism
Successfully marketing a product is a fundamental component in remaining competitive in the
vicious dog eat dog world of business. The rise of postmodernism in society redefined what
successful and adaptive marketing looks like and consequently it gave branding a whole new
meaning and significance. Postmodernism means different things to different disciplines, yet the
general consensus is that it is a contemporary cultural phenomenon (Brown 1996). The postmodern
brandmodel enabled brands to have an identity that connects with its customers by presenting
brands in an anthropological view via customer engagement promotions. The gradual domination of
social media in western society enables organizations to market their brands to exist beyond... Show

Hyperreality is one of the most apparent features in all forms of advertising. Common examples of
hyperreality advertising include beauty promotions that were touched up with photoshop,
products that claim to have outrageous effects (e.g. Redbull gives you wings ), and it is also sold
in fantasy video games (League of Legends, Street Fighter, Assassins Creed, etc.). Furthermore,
advertising is often clandestinely placed in sporting video games because it s integrated in its
culture (adverts on the boards in NHL games, billboards in racing games, etc.) (Kaplan and
Haenlein 2009, 565). Hyperreality exists in reality television shows such as Big Brother and
Survivor , the participants of the show are aware that they are being perpetually recorded and it
alters their regular behavior and mannerisms. Social network communities further perpetuate the
existence of hyperreality online as there is over a combined one billion users between just
Facebook and Twitter alone. These social networks are then used to communicate with its customers
and concurrently encourage consumers to share their brand experiences with each other.
Anti foundationalism is the final trait being reviewed, in a marketing context it is about brands
and/or advertisementss going against the grain of societal norms. Geico is an example of how anti
foundationalism can be enforced successful for a brand s image. Geico, a company that sells car
insurance, managed to make it s brand

Maybe In Another Universe, I Deserve You
Gaby Dunn
What if, in another universe, I deserve you?
Hear me out. There s this philosopher from the 1890s named William James, and he coined this
theory about the multiverse which suggests that a hypothetical set of multiple universes comprises
everything that can possibly exist simultaneously.
Are you following? The entirety of space, time, matter and energy is all happening at once in
different timelines: It s the idea of parallel universes. Right? So okay, let s presume the multiverseis

Analysis Of Oppression By Jimmy Santiago Baca
In the poem Oppression by Jimmy Santiago Baca, the author gives readers an understanding of
oppression, its psychological impact upon endurance, and one s ability to seek emancipation.
Within the first stanza of the poem, Baca defines oppression as being trampled under and
expresses that those who endure oppression are human . Baca continues to explain that the act
oppression [i]s a question of strength of the oppressor, and a question of unshed tears of the
individual enduring oppression. In this stanza, the author is stating that oppression is a fight for
power in which the oppressor uses fear through the form of violence or terror to oppress
individuals, while the individuals being oppressed show their strength by remaining calm

In groups of people, there are always ones with better leadership qualities than the rest. The
stronger power becomes the greater authority, and the others abide by them. Nevertheless, the
strongest leader isn t always the best. In William Golding s novel, Lord of the Flies, Ralph isn t
the strongest person, yet he displays a better understanding of people, which allows Ralph to
lead the boys better than Jack could. Although Jack and Ralph differentiate in their views, they
both share the same passion, to earn the role of chief. Ralph at first is not very amused from the
others for picking him as the chief, yet he undertakes the role with strong capability to rule.
Ralph tries to lead the boys the best he can, but he appears powerless when he tries to take
control. Ralph obtains one strong object, which is the conch that he can use to congregate the
boys, and make important announcements. Ralph finally takes control when he states All this I

The Complete Persepolis By Marjane Satrapi
There are certain countries that are ran through dictatorship, they abuse the power they have to the
country. In the story, The Complete Persepolis written by Marjane Satrapi, she changes the view
towards Iran through occurrences and eastern fundamentalist ideas. In 1979, there was the Islamic
revolution in Iran. This year was the year that was going to have many changes to the country. In
chapter one of the Veil, there are characters and their freedom of expression being repressed as
well as the movement of repression where the Iranians were repressed in public spaces and by

Even the youngest women are resisting to wear the veil, and is a great example of how western
influence is victimizing women that are oppressed and are categorized into a suppressive group
by wearing the veil. Satrapi was stuck in two mind sets which were the liberal minded world of
her parents and her religiosity. Another crucial moment of the chapter is where she says, I
really didn t know what to think about the veil. Deep down I was very religious but as a family
we were very modern and avant garde (6.1). Satrapi had an important role when this big change
happened. She was an individual who had a strong character as a child. Her family sees being
religious while not wearing a veil compatible, the government believes the opposite. Satrapi
foreshadows how at the end of the story she leaves Iran but never escapes her homeland Iran.
The theme of repression is a never changing issue with Persepolis. The abuse of power happens
because there is a leader trying to run the country in a certain way. Satrapi illustrates how
Iranians were repressed in public spaces and by public figures. Satrapies mom was on the
newspapers, because a German journalist took a photo of her (5). Her mom would hide most of

Cannibalism And Ansazi Civilization Summary
The key or lead figure and researcher for the Cannibalism and Anasazi Civilization , was Dr.
Christy Turner (1933 2013). Dr. Turner was an anthropologist, who also taught classes at ASU
(Arizona State University). When Dr. Turner passed away in July of 2013 ASU made a touching
statement on their former employee, Turner was a prolific and influential researcher for more than
40 years. (ASU: In memory) ASU also stated Dr. Turner had, His broad interests spanned the world
and all four fields of anthropology: physical anthropology, archaeology, linguistics and sociocultural
anthropology. (ASU: In memory. https://asunow.asu.edu/content/memory influential anthropologist

Dr. Christy Turner is known for unveiling the acts of cannibalism that had taken place in the
Anasazi civilization. According to an article in the LA Times, Dr. Turner had looked over 76
sites previously excavated in 1893. These sites had shown signs of violence and possibly
cannibalism. According to Dr. Turner 38 out of the 76 sites, majority in the 90 mile radius from the
Four Corners area, approximately 286 people had been butchered and eaten. (LA Times: http:/

that no one wants to believe that someone could do that to another person. Especially, from the
Hopi nation. The Hopi nation stated, arguing that the claim of cannibalism is a slanderous stain on
their ancestors. (LA Times:

Revenge Tragedy In Hamlet
The most common approach is revenge tragedy. Revenge tragedy is the act of a character feeling
the need for revenge. The character does achieve the goal of revenge, but typically causes a
tragedy by dying himself or causing other to die in the process. Hamlet goes through his own
internal conflict and takes a long time to avenge his father s murder. Glyn Austen provides a view
that Hamlets revenge is more orchestrated by his enemies than by himself. (Glyn 1) This argument
is supported through many parts of the play. Through Hamlet s soliloquies, the audience can
conclude that Hamlet is torn by his mission. Although he clearly wants Claudius dead, he is
constantly hesitant about his future actions. Even when he has adequate proof that his uncle did
murder his father, it s almost as though Hamlet does not want to go through with it. Also presented
is the notion that Hamlet avenged the actions against himself rather than the murder of his father.
(Glyn 1) When Hamlet killed Claudius, Laertes had already poisoned him with the tip of his blade,
and Gertrude was already poisoned by the wine as well. So, if anything, Hamlet avenged the actions
against his mother and himself rather than the murder of his father. The second common approach
is psychological. The psychological approach considers the character s, or author s, mind to attempt
to gain a further understanding of the piece. Throughout the play, the ghostof Hamlet s father
appears. This apparition convinces Hamlet

Analysis Of Dante s The Inferno
Journeys can be taken many ways. Some people take the path less traveled and some people take
the easy way out. Dante happens to be on journey that is less traveled, by exploring the depths of
Hell in the Inferno. The epic poem s story is about self realization and transformation. It sees Dante
over coming many things to realize he is a completely different person from the start of the Inferno
journey. Dante sees many things that help him gain courage in order to prove to himself and the
reader that accepting change and gaining courage can help one to grow as a person and realize their
full potential. After seeing people going through certain punishment Dante realizes that he must not
seek pity on himself and others in order to fully realize his true potential. Dante has experienced
many different things while exploring the Inferno that help him realize his full potential and his
true self. The biggest change Dante made was the amount of courage he had while going through
the Inferno. This can be seen through the way he acts throughout the book. This is shown when
Dante in the beginning of the Inferno faints due to fear. While in the first circle of Hellafter entering
the gates of Hell Dante faints after seeing [a] whirl burst out of the tear drenched earth, a wind that
crackled with bloodred light (III;133). If Dante was more courageous by this point in his journey
Dante wouldn t have fainted. However, as Dante continues on his journey he runs into more things

Turf War Research Paper
The Turf wars
Dick Allen once said, if a horse won t eat it, I don t wanna play on it . There are several reasons
Dick Allen has love for natural grass and resentment for synthetic grass. Climate, cost, and health
of fake grass fields are just three of the many issues in this natural versus turf battle. Some say
synthetic fields may be a solution to countries with less favorable climates but with new modern
technology, plastic fields are not needed. In places where there is a lack of natural light or blatant
cold weather, there are new resolution pathways instead of converting to turf. Lambeau field,

Older turf fields made from nylon or nylon/polyethylene blend fibers can contain levels of lead
that pose a potential public health concern. Excessive exposure to lead, according to the Agency
for Toxic Substances Disease Registry (ATSDR), can lead to toxic affects regardless of the
exposure pathway. Studies have shown when sliding on the sharp plastics of turf rather than
natural grass athletes are seven times more likely to receive a turf burn which in turn increases
their risk of receiving MRSA or a Staphylococcus infection. Another massive concern of health
comes from Amy Griffin, an associate soccer coach at the University of Washington who
discovered two soccer players, which were both goalkeepers, that were diagnosed with cancer.
Goal keeper is a position that frequently dives and is thus almost always in contact with the turf
and as stated before it does not matter the exposure pathway. As Griffin told NBC in 2014 she d

players Alex Morgan, the United States Women s National Team forward has stated, The
achiness, taking longer to recover than on natural grass, the tendons and ligaments are, for me at
least, I feel more sore after turf. It takes longer to recover from a turf field than natural grass.

Greed And Greed In The Gift Of The Magi
Greed and Charity
Greed is a selfish desire for more than is needed. Charity is the kindhearted goodwill toward or
love of humanity. Both terms are used to create central themes for the four stories we read in our
english class. All of these stories include characters that present greed or charity. In The Gift of the
Magi, the wife and the husband both gave up their prized possessions to get their significant other
a gift. Since the couple were poor and wanted to satisfy each other with a wonderful gift, they
had to give up what they never thought they would have before. I believe this shows charity in
their relationship. They both wanted the best of the best for each other and kindheartedly gave
up whatever they had. Della, the wife, asked someone to buy her long, silky, brown hair. Will
you buy my hair? asked Della. I buy hair, said Madame. Take yer hat off and let s have a sight at
the looks of it. As you can see, the wife sold her hair to buy her husband a gift which was a watch
band for his watch. The husband then revealed to his wife that he sold his watch to buy her a
comb. In The Fisherman and His Wife, both greed and charity are presented. The fisherman
consisted of a lot of charity. He was willing to give his wife whatever she wanted. The fisherman
s wife had so much greed. She wanted more than she already had. She was so greedy that she
thought of herself to be just like God. The couple first owned a pig stye of a house. From this,

creation of the pocket, Dr. Esmailian uses a special device (Keller Funnel) to insert the breast
implant. The Keller Funnel minimizes the strain and friction that occurs between the incision and
the implant; thus, improving the safety of this procedure even more.
Following breast implant insertion (and fill, when applicable), Dr. Esmailian will use sutures to
close the tissue that leads to the pocket holding the implant. He will then close the outer incision.
His experience allows him to use precise suture techniques that are designed to minimize scarring.
Once closure is complete, the breast augmentation surgery is over.
RECOVERING AFTER BREAST IMPLANT SURGERY NEAR IRVINE
Patients will experience some inflammation, bruising and discomfort. These symptoms usually

WWI
Given the option of peace or war there is an obvious choice. Do not be fooled because there is
only a single way to obtain peace and that is to surrender. To appease those who oppose you and
to want to live on your knees than die on your feet. This sort of idea is heard from many who are

countries against each other and those things can also push them to war. The slaughtering of

the most hidden of all all the members, making it seem more easily erodible. Sandstones are

Sandstone can be deposited at the beach, the shore of a lake, deltas or deserts.
The Inoceramid clams found in the Niobrara formations leads to the assumption that the mudstone
and limestone were deposited at the sea floor. Clams today are mostly found in the deep burrows
of mud, and with the principle of uniformitarianism you can deduce that those clams were also
most likely living on the sea floor. The clams living at the sea floor would be supported by the fact
that the clam fossils were found in mudstone and limestone because mudstone is usually in lower

Claudius is guilty for murdering King Hamlet: Hamlet was able to confirm this information by
having actors reenact the death of King Hamlet during a scene of their play. After Claudius
discovers that Hamlet killed Polonius, he knows that Hamlet is capable of murder and becomes
fearful that Hamlet will kill him. After Polonius dies, Claudius says I have sent to seek him and
find the body. How dangerous is it that this man goes lose! (4, 3, 1 2 ). Although Claudius
sounds like he cares about the safety of the citizens of Elsinore, he is more concerned about his
own safety, since he is guilty of killing King Hamlet. O heavy deed! It had been so with us, had
we been there. His liberty is full of threats to all To you yourself, to us, to everyone (4, 1, 13 16).
King Claudius makes an effort to include himself into his remark that Hamlet is dangerous and can
pose a threat to not only the town but to himself. Claudius motivation for killing Hamlet is for his
own protection and safety because he believes that Hamlet is a threat. Another major factor of
Claudius motivation to kill Hamlet could be that he is defending his innocence when accused of
killing Polonius. Laertes immediately assumes that Claudius was responsible for his father s death
when he came back from France. Once Laertes believes that Claudius is innocent, Claudius uses
this opportunity to take advantage of Laertes

Truman Capote s The American Dream
The definition of the American Dream varies from person to person, however, its basic components
include a healthy, happy family, a sense of safety and security, and a sufficient amount of money.
People from all backgrounds strive to achieve their specific American Dream, however, actually
achieving this proves extremely difficult since the nature of the American Dream is often
unrealistic, fragile, or elusive. Many artists, authors, and poets use their art to explore or comment
on this heavy, complex topic. Specifically, Truman Capoteinvestigates the American Dream through
his work of creative nonfiction, In Cold Blood, which centers on the violent murder of a Kansas
family in the 1950 s. After interviewing law enforcement officers,... Show more content on

The fact that he secretly smokes and does not live up to his own high standards reveals the
impractical nature of the perfect family. The community views the Clutters as the American
Dream family, however, Capote implies that a perfect family is an illusion. Later in his
description of the Clutter family, Capote focuses on Bonnie Clutter, the mother of both Nancy
and Kenyon Clutter and wife of Herb Clutter, and her postpartum depression, which forces her to
remain indoors and keeps her from community events. After the birth of her youngest child,
Kenyon, the mood of misery that descended never altogether lifted; it lingered like a cloud that
might rain or might not. (27) In describing the depth and intensity of Bonnie s mental illness,
Capote utilizes a simile to compare her depression to a gloomy cloud to demonstrate how just as
storms hang in the sky and create a dark, melancholy feeling so does Bonnie s depression
constantly loom over her and ruin her daily life. Although Bonnie has created a typical healthy
family, she cannot care for her family or involve herself in raising her children due to her constant,
almost crippling depression. With Bonnie s flaw, Capote shows again the unrealistic nature of an
American Dream family. Bonnie s cloud of depression prevents the Clutters from truly achieving
the family life of the American Dream. Near the end of Capote s description of the Clutter family,
he introduces

What Symbolism Mean To Me
Symbols can be defined as; a thing that represents or stands for something else, especially a
material object representing something abstract. (Google Dictionary) There are countless of
symbols out there that are important and meaningful to my life. But there are a few symbols that
is extra special and represents me as a person and who I am today. The four most important
symbols in my life are a cross, a family, the Vietnam flag, and the piano which all connects back to
one big symbol, a heart. To begin, a cross is one of the most important symbols in my life. The
cross symbolizes my religion which represents my hope and faith. The cross is where the Lord our
God died on. As a catholic, the cross is important to me because it reminds me... Show more content

Playing the piano is one of the few things that I enjoy doing the most. Learning or playing the
piano teaches me how to be patient when I might can t get the correct notes right away. The
sounds and musics coming out from a piano just creates a happier mood around. Whenever I feel
sad or bored, playing the piano just puts a smile on my face. Being able to play the piano shows me
all the hard work I had put into it and proves that I would be able to do anything if I just put in
the time and effort. The piano is represents a heart because it s something I love and is a major

The NBA, the second most watched sport in America, is known for making NBA fans happy if
their favorite team wins, or make them lose their minds when their favorite team loses. The NBA
has had many moments that will go down in sports history, but what if everything was not what it
seems like and player, coaches, owners, officials, and many more, have been lying to their
passionate fans. Many NBA fans spend their time and money for the NBA, to merchandise, tickets,

competitive basketball. If the NBA was rigged, not only will it change the whole perspective of

How Does Firework Influence The Portrayal Of Women In...
Katy Perry Firework song is a power anthem which plays a huge role when it comes to popular
culture in today s society. It creates an empowering message to women by portraying them as
strong willed, independent human beings rather than the stereotypical portrayal of women who
depend on men. Although in the movie, the song Firework is used as a encouraging anthem to
children because it is a children s movie. In the Hollywood reporter review article it states that
the 3d scene helps influence the song choice because it is a very loud and fun song. The song
portrays women to be as strong as men, although the film i chose doesn t express the song in that

Addiction Is Not Necessary An Addiction
A study was conducted by Caroline Davis in 2014, in which she suggests, that food addiction, is
not necessary an addiction. Unlike other addictions like tobacco, gambling and drugs, food in
required for the human body to survive, where the other types are a pleasure centre for the brain in
affect, and is not necessary for humanto survive.
An addiction is in which the brain responds to a stimulus, or multiple stimuli, that triggers a respond
to the brain, and releases, dopamine to the person creating a reward system to the user, thus
increasing the mood of the person. Therefore, allowing the brain to learn by teaching it to
respond to increased levels of dopamine, by the stimulus (pp.131). For example, the more a
person gambles and wins, the better they feel. Even so, there is a low point for people that
gamble or takes drugs, but the need for that persons is to increase their chances of winning, or
getting a fix, where they could combine a mix of food, alcohol, drugs and tobacco (pp.131).
Which would make them feel good again, as once again, as dopamine is released into the system.
According to Davis (2014) that food should not be thought of as addictive, as food is essential
for human survival and with a proper diet with all the vitamins and mineral that the body require
humans can live a healthy life (pp. 129). But even so food can be addictive as the process foods
have many compounds added to everyday foods that rewards the brain for eating it, therefore, a

Figurative Language In A Storm In The Mountains
In the poem A Storm in the Mountains, the title does a great job of summarizing the poem. It
literally means exactly what it says, that there was a storm in the mountains. Figuratively, though, it
could mean different things. When I think of a storm, I think of someone going through problems
and they don t know if they will make it through. There could be big problems and scares, like the
crashing thunder of a thunderstorm. Or their problems could occur and that is the lightning, so the
person is hoping that it won t strike. The title contributes to the poem s meaning by adding the
theme to what the poem is going to be about. This poem uses a lot of figurative language in it. First
off, it has alliteration, like when the author says split

Both fallacies of false cause and accident belong to Faulty generalizations mean to reach a
conclusion from feeble premises. Contrasting fallacies of significance, in fallacies of faulty
induction, the premises are associated with the conclusions yet merely weakly support the

Are they really the same fallacy, are they entirely distinct, or they related in some, but not all
ways? Explain your answer by giving an example of each.

It is the confusing use of a term with additional than one meaning or intellect (by glossing over
which meaning is planned at a specific time). It generally happens with polysemic words (words

Albeit in mutual parlance it is used in a diversity of situations, when discussed as a fallacy,
equivocation only happens when the arguer makes a word or expression working in two (or more)

The Slavery Of Slavery And Slavery
Bills! Bills! Bills! In 1619, the first enslaved Africans were brought to Jamestown, Virginia. Their
sole purpose was to work the fields picking and farming profitable crops such as cotton and
tobacco. It is estimated that between 1700 and 1800 six to seven billion enslaved Africans were
brought to the American shore (Slavery). Life as an enslaved African was more than tough, it was
appalling. Slaves were prohibited from becoming literate, they were restricted in every aspect,
whether it was in movement or behavior, and they were punished severely. Slave masters took
sexual liberties with enslaved women, which was thought to be a tactic to procreate slaves
(Slavery). According to that interpretation, slave masters were fueled to... Show more content on

In 1865 Black codes were enacted, which denied African Americans the right to serve on juries,
vote, join state militias and or start a job without permission from their previous employer. Pig
Laws went into effect around the same time of Black Codes and they harshly penalized Black
Americans for petty crimes such as handing out felonies for stealing farm animals. Both Black
Codes and Pig Laws were repealed by 1877 but rewritten into Jim Crow Laws, which enforced
racial segregation and were a way continue to treat African Americans as inferior (Black). All three
of these oppressive laws have habitually traversed into the justice system today. Prisons are
overpopulated with Africans Americans, some of which have received harsh sentences for petty
crimes, similarly to the Pig Laws. Black Americans have endured so much pain and overcame
many obstacles. They have yet to receive reparations, but they have been apologized to. In 2008,
the United States house of representatives issued an apology to African Americans for slavery and
Jim Crow Laws. The apology resolution was drafted by Steve Cohen, a Democrat from Tennessee

Descriptive Essay On A Summer Camp
Bill come on time to go! Tom s mom screamed. Every summer Tom has to go to summer camp.
His parents are traveling all the time because of work. Bill really doesn t like to go, he s not the
athletic type. Tom does not have a lot of friends and keeps to himself. As bill walks down the
stairs to the car he feels a little overwhelmed. Bill has gone to the campthree summers in a row and
feels weirded out when he s near the woods. The camp counselors don t like it when kids go to the
woods by themselves, apparently kids have disappeared but the counselors don t talk about it too
much.
The car ride there is long. To get there you have to go far from town. You could see huge trees
swaying back and forth as you pass by, it s a little creepy. Bill arrived to the eerie camp, he saw all
the kids with their parents trying to check in and get to know the grounds. The car came to a
stop and Bill and his mom got out the car. It was a long ride there so it took Bill a minute to
stretch out. Bill and his mom walk up to the front desk, there was a young man at the desk
looked like he was not in a good mood. The man began to speak Hello and welcome to camp, do
you need a room? the man said angrily. Um yes please. Bill s mom said, but Bill zoend out the rest
of the conversation. Bill I have to go now, Bill s mom said I love you and please don t get in
trouble your room number is 122. Ok mom love you too. Bill said. His mom gave him a kiss on
the cheek, gave him his room number and bags and left.
Bill walked through the huge camp and looked for his room number. Bill has been at the camp
multiply times so it was not hard to find. 122 must be mine room Bill said out loud. The room
was not in the best condition, moss was on the outside and the grass was a little dead. Bill walk
up slowly to the door and knocked three times, Hello is anyone home. You usually get a room
mate. Come in! the other person yelled from inside. Great, Bill was hoping no one would be
home. Bill opened the creaking door slowly. When he entered he saw a boy around 14 his age
sitting on one of the two beds. Hi my names Tom, what s your name? The boy said. I m Bill. Bill
does not have friends and he keeps to himself, so he a little shy.

Difference Between Eastern And Confucianism
How has the world changed in just one century? How has it changed in a decade? To say that we
live in the same world today as we did 10 years or 100 years ago would be incorrect. In a matter
of months or days our lives and society itself changes. Whether it be through new technology or
political ideology, we experience a different way of life in a short period of time. Taking this into
account, how do we continue to apply Confucianism to an ever changing world? Are eastern
countries still affected by these longstanding values present in the four books or have they
shifted as well? If so, when did they start to differ? Firstly, I believe that though the way of life
changes and we advance to a higher standard of living compared to the dark ages, there have
been certain core principles that have persevered through the times. No matter the year these
values held within a society guide its community. However, I believe that there are very obvious
differences between a western and eastern society when it comes to this. An eastern society
follows the above rule to the T unlike western society. For example, in America, the ideologies of
the people have changed over time such as, unwavering respect for your parents. American s used
to respect their parents at the expense of their own happiness. Over time, America has grown more
individualistic and have lost respect for their elders. However, in eastern traditions respect for the
family and elders has stayed true well into the 21st

  • 2. The Little Known Victims of the Holocaust Essay The Little Known Victims of the Holocaust Many people look back on the Holocaust today and realize that so many abysmal and hideous things happened. The genocide of the Jews is known but what may be less well documented is Hitler s design to eradicate all groups other than the blue eyed, fair haired Aryans. So many of them were forgotten and just pushed in with the major race of the Jews, who were said to be unworthy of life. The people were not ready, nor expecting to be forced into such an egregious state of being. Adolf Hitlerexcruciatingly persecuted every race that he thought was unsuitable for his dream of a Master Race. On September 1, 1939, Hitler began the start of World War II. He decided that he wanted to build what he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hitler thought that they were the only children of God and the Jews and other non German races were here only to be once removed; they were an undeserving race to be on Earth (Berenbaum 68). Every victim of the Holocaust was under the category of The Untermenschen , which meant that they were not considered human and were treated horrendously. The Slavs, Poles, Gypsies, German homosexuals, Blacks, and the Communists were killed. Even the disabled and every one with incurable illnesses were Untermenschen as far as Hitler was concerned. The major race, besides the Jews, that was to be eliminated completely was the Romanian Gypsies (Friedman 7). No one of that race was allowed to live. From the ages zero to one hundred, absolutely no one was to remain alive. In the beginning, the Gypsies were treated poorly and their talent and success became a major threat to all the local people. It was then that Hitler decided they were not to be around anymore. They were all considered like second class citizens if not more poorly. The Nazi s were even told to experiment on them to try to prove that the Gypsies were somehow of different blood and not like that of the Master Race. A perverse man, Dr, Mengele, did shocking and appalling experiments on people and he was especially interested in experiments on twins. Despite the fact that a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He managed to open the eyes of the wealthy and showed them the brutal conditions of the poor in New York City during the progressive era. All the way from the time he was very young, he was helping people in need. His background from where he grew up definitely impacted his motives behind his causes. Jacob Riis altered society in a big way during the early 1900s. Motivation Riis was inspired by his past experiences and his personal, moral beliefs. • 4. The Feasibility Of Miniature Horses Serving As Guide Animals Introduction I am an animal lover and have direct experience with dogs and horses due to the fact that I own six horses and three dogs. I have always been amazed every time I see a service dog and its client. I have always seen dogs used as the service animal. One day at work, I overheard one of my co workers mentioned the use of miniature ponies as service animals. I was intrigued by the idea of a miniature pony serving as a guide animal. They have mentioned studies being conducted on this subject, and I have decided to make this my research topic for this class. Purpose The purpose for this research paper was to discover the feasibility of miniature horses serving as guide animals. I know not all people like dogs or don t trust dogs. What are disabled persons choices in service animals? How about disabled individuals that are allergic to dogs? I will research documents on miniature horses used as service animals, identify the pros and cons of my subject, look for examples demonstrating my subjects abilities, and examine the adaptability of dogs and miniature horses. Significance I hope this study will give handicapped or people who are challenged with every day task a choice of what animal will be their service partner. I always see dogs as service animals, and I would like to find out if they can have a choice. I know a lot of people that do not like dogs or are allergic to dogs. This research could provide answers to issues with service animals and their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. A Brief Article On Being An Atheist Response Paper on H.J. McCloskey article On being an atheist Name Course Date During the year 1968, an atheist philosopher H.J. McCloskey came up with a powerful argument about how being an atheist was greater than the theistic way of life. Through this article, McCloskey finds a way to condemn numerous arguments which theist consider as true and in most cases seem to mock and impeach the believers of God. Some of the arguments that McCloskey tries to diminish are the three mutual proofs that most theists depend upon for their belief in God. The proofs include; cosmological proof, teleological proof and the argument from design. McCloskey also talks about the complications of evil and how its presence rejects the truth about God. At the end of the article, he maintains that atheism is heartening, meaning that it is more calming than theism. Below are a detailed discussion and validity of the truth about the three claims that McCloskey wants to rebate in the article and finally dispute the problem of evil to censure the thought that atheism is cool and comforting1. McCloskey mostly insults the theistic opinion as one of ignorance and ambiguity. Referring to the believers of God, he say they do not think hard enough nor far enough about the difficulty of an uncaused reason, who has to be a unavoidably existing being to prove that the argument is far less conclusive than it appears to be at first sight. In addition, his reference of theists as being ignorant is clearly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

God gives humans the privilege to rule this world and to use His resources wisely and purposefully. In Genesis 1:26, God said, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground (Genesis 1:26, NIV). • 9. Eating Disorders And Excessive Exercise EATING DISORDERS AND EXCESSIVE EXERCISE IN SPORT 2 Introduction One essential part of competitive sport is nutrition and exercise. These factors are important because they can considerably affect an athlete s performance. In the Perfect Body, Andie, an aspiring Olympic gymnast, engages in a strict diet to fit her sporting norm. Her coach pushes her to lose weight, and she feels pressured to maintain a small build. In order to reach the professional level, Andie uses extreme measures such as self induced vomiting, fasting, and excessive exercise to control her weight. • 11. Advanced Technology In The Byzantine Empire The Byzantine Empire was one of the many great nations in human history. The Byzantine empire was formed in 330 A.D when Constantine moved the Roman Empire capital from Rome to the Greek city of Byzantium, in what is now modern day Turkey. Constantine eventually changed the name of the capital city to Constantinople. Constantinople remained the capital of the empire for the rest of its days. The movement of the capital, however, led to the division of the Roman Empire into Western and Eastern Rome. Although the west fell, the east survived and eventually became the Byzantine empire, which would last for hundreds of years. A combination of advanced technology, specialized workers, complex institutions, advanced cities, and record keeping made the Byzantine empire one of the leading civilizations of its time. The first aspect that defines a civilization is having advanced technology. Many of these technologies are portrayed in the city of Constantinople in its architecture and the city s defense. One example of these defensive technologies was the use of defensive chains in several waterways, such as the Golden Horn. These incredibly sturdy chains were set at the mouth of the waterways in order to prevent enemy ships from sailing through the passages. Towers were another example of defensive technology built along the city s outer walls. These towers helped to create stability in the walls and were excellent lookout posts and great spots for archers to mount during an invasion ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because the modules and peer editing reviews it was easy to correct and learn from my mistakes. As a writer, I think I can still make an amount of improvement. With it being from mechanic errors and to clear organization skills. As for providing clear and relevant examples I have made improvements. I say I m an average, but growing writer. I have my skills and weakness, but I still try harder. When I first came to English 101 I thought I had it down packed. In high school, I took AP Lit, a advanced placement English class. AP Lit offered a college level course, teaching us high school students college curricular. But when I received my first assignment, I hesitated, not knowing what to write. Then modules were introduced, making it better to reflect on. Constantly I relied on modules and notes, which helped me improve in my writing, in result giving me better feedback. As I progress along the semester, my final paper grades have improved. From starting on my political analysis project to finishing my argumentative essay. My political analysis paper ended with a 70%. The 70% is from the lack of transition and the lack of specific audiences. Also analyzing my information and relating back to my thesis. We liked the house because, apart from its being old and spacious (in a day where house go down for a profitable auction of their construction materials), it kept the memories of great grandparents, our paternal grandfather, our parents and the whole of childhood. (Cortazar 37). This explains the ancient house to be generational and pasted down to the characters living in it now. The peculiar way the characters live in this house is where the fantasy element begins. There is a massive oak door separating two parts of the mansion and the characters really ever go on the other side of it. As a service providers and the owner of the infrastructure one of our largest costs is related to the installation of our services and hardware. In most cases after a new customer orders service the company rolls a truck. A truck roll requires that a technician is scheduled to drive to the customers home, connect their home to our plant, install the ordered product into the customers home, activate the product and do onsite training of the customer. The escalating cost of fuel directly increases the cost of truck rolls which depending on installer status (employee or contractor) is on average a $150.00. This somewhat comic but depressing film of Godard s is a satirical poem and construct of the contempt with which he obviously holds bourgeoisie society. Much of the film expresses this through the use of symbolism and metaphor. In order to better facilitate the process whereby the audience becomes aware of Godard s intentions and his message he introduces us to a young Parisian married couple. Godard sets the clichГ©d couple, alienated and bourgeois, on a journey for Corinne s parents country house, hoping to find them either dead or willing to sign the will. As they persist in their journey we are given various opportunities to appreciate the absolute complacency and ignorance of the couple (meant to be emblematic of all bourgeois). Godard tries to peel off the hypocrisy of bourgeois society through the weekend trip of this Parisian middle class couple. Weekend is a clear continuation of the style, and even ideology, which originated with Brecht s work in the theater. Jean Luc Godard weaves didactic self reflexive techniques throughout the film, in order to break the illusion that the spectator is watching a real, authentic world on screen rather than a movie. In doing so, Godard finds the ability to share his discourse directly with the audience instead of employing characters to do the job for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mermaids Richard Van Camp Analysis A tragic story in its own right, is a story that deals with tragic events, including an unhappy ending that usually involves the death or demise of the main protagonist. Although Mermaids is a truly sad and unforgiving story, it does not classify as a tragedy. Mermaids by Richard Van Camp has close to none of the aspects that make a tragic story, truly tragic. The characters development, ending, and tragic pattern, all support the fact that this story is sad, but not tragic. First and foremost, the character development in Mermaids, is the polar opposite of what any tragic story would be. The main character Torchy has no evident or visible hamartia, he is indeed a weak character when he is first presented, however he does not have that key tragic flaw that every protagonist in a tragic story has. He also lacks the element of peripeteia, it is true that he does many foolish things, such as gambling, drugs, and self inflicting harm. However, none of these acts initially lead to his demise, in fact, his poor experiences help him grow as a character. I feel my blood drain... I lean hard against a parking meter (Van Camp 1). When first presented to us, Torchy is shown as a person that is strong on the outside, he always has his guard up and is constantly aware of his surroundings. Often, once the child grows up, they begin to have a greater understanding and are able to reflect on those relationships. In the poem, Those Winter Sundays, Robert Hayden writes of a son looking back on his relationship with his father and it s complexity. Their intricate relationship comes from the son feeling guilt about how unaware he was of everything his father did and how blinded he was by his childish judgments. In the second stanza the word cold is compiled with onomatopoeia so the reader can almost hear the sound of coldness, hear the cold splintering, breaking (Hayden 6). This signifies the son chipping away at the ice before him and seeing past his father s rough exterior to every small sacrifice he has done for his family. The character does achieve the goal of revenge, but typically causes a tragedy by dying himself or causing other to die in the process. Hamlet goes through his own internal conflict and takes a long time to avenge his father s murder. Glyn Austen provides a view that Hamlets revenge is more orchestrated by his enemies than by himself. (Glyn 1) This argument is supported through many parts of the play. Through Hamlet s soliloquies, the audience can conclude that Hamlet is torn by his mission. Although he clearly wants Claudius dead, he is constantly hesitant about his future actions. Even when he has adequate proof that his uncle did murder his father, it s almost as though Hamlet does not want to go through with it. Also presented is the notion that Hamlet avenged the actions against himself rather than the murder of his father. (Glyn 1) When Hamlet killed Claudius, Laertes had already poisoned him with the tip of his blade, and Gertrude was already poisoned by the wine as well. So, if anything, Hamlet avenged the actions against his mother and himself rather than the murder of his father. The second common approach is psychological. • 37. Greed And Greed In The Gift Of The Magi Greed and Charity Greed is a selfish desire for more than is needed. Charity is the kindhearted goodwill toward or love of humanity. Both terms are used to create central themes for the four stories we read in our english class. All of these stories include characters that present greed or charity. In The Gift of the Magi, the wife and the husband both gave up their prized possessions to get their significant other a gift. Since the couple were poor and wanted to satisfy each other with a wonderful gift, they had to give up what they never thought they would have before. I believe this shows charity in their relationship. They both wanted the best of the best for each other and kindheartedly gave up whatever they had. Della, the wife, asked someone to buy her long, silky, brown hair. Will you buy my hair? asked Della. I buy hair, said Madame. Take yer hat off and let s have a sight at the looks of it. As you can see, the wife sold her hair to buy her husband a gift which was a watch band for his watch. The husband then revealed to his wife that he sold his watch to buy her a comb. In The Fisherman and His Wife, both greed and charity are presented. The fisherman consisted of a lot of charity. He was willing to give his wife whatever she wanted. The fisherman s wife had so much greed. She wanted more than she already had. She was so greedy that she thought of herself to be just like God. The couple first owned a pig stye of a house. Do not be fooled because there is only a single way to obtain peace and that is to surrender. To appease those who oppose you and to want to live on your knees than die on your feet. This sort of idea is heard from many who are safe at home, eating dinner with their families and watching reality tv. Many things can pit countries against each other and those things can also push them to war. The Smoky Hill and Fort Hayes belong to the Niobrara formation while Codell belongs to the Benton Formation. In the Niobrara s Smoky Hill and Benton, Inoceramid clam (giant clam) fossils were found. These three formations are of Late Cretaceous. The Smoky Hill Member is mainly a calcareous mudstone, a rock outcrop that looks and behaves mostly like mudstone, but does have some characteristics of a limestone, like fizzing. The Smoky Hill is the youngest of the members. It is fine grained, dark to light gray, mudstone which breaks in rectangular like shapes. So, not only is the Codell member the oldest, but it had the most energy. Sandstone can be deposited at the beach, the shore of a lake, deltas or deserts. The Inoceramid clams found in the Niobrara formations leads to the assumption that the mudstone and limestone were deposited at the sea floor. Clams today are mostly found in the deep burrows of mud, and with the principle of uniformitarianism you can deduce that those clams were also most likely living on the sea floor. The fact that he secretly smokes and does not live up to his own high standards reveals the impractical nature of the perfect family. The community views the Clutters as the American Dream family, however, Capote implies that a perfect family is an illusion. Later in his description of the Clutter family, Capote focuses on Bonnie Clutter, the mother of both Nancy and Kenyon Clutter and wife of Herb Clutter, and her postpartum depression, which forces her to remain indoors and keeps her from community events. After the birth of her youngest child, Kenyon, the mood of misery that descended never altogether lifted; it lingered like a cloud that might rain or might not. (27) In describing the depth and intensity of Bonnie s mental illness, Capote utilizes a simile to compare her depression to a gloomy cloud to demonstrate how just as storms hang in the sky and create a dark, melancholy feeling so does Bonnie s depression constantly loom over her and ruin her daily life. Although Bonnie has created a typical healthy family, she cannot care for her family or involve herself in raising her children due to her constant, almost crippling depression. With Bonnie s flaw, Capote shows again the unrealistic nature of an American Dream family. Bonnie s cloud of depression prevents the Clutters from truly achieving the family life of the American Dream. Near the end of Capote s description of the Clutter family, he introduces ... Unlike other addictions like tobacco, gambling and drugs, food in required for the human body to survive, where the other types are a pleasure centre for the brain in affect, and is not necessary for humanto survive. An addiction is in which the brain responds to a stimulus, or multiple stimuli, that triggers a respond to the brain, and releases, dopamine to the person creating a reward system to the user, thus increasing the mood of the person. Therefore, allowing the brain to learn by teaching it to respond to increased levels of dopamine, by the stimulus (pp.131). For example, the more a person gambles and wins, the better they feel. Even so, there is a low point for people that gamble or takes drugs, but the need for that persons is to increase their chances of winning, or getting a fix, where they could combine a mix of food, alcohol, drugs and tobacco (pp.131). Which would make them feel good again, as once again, as dopamine is released into the system. According to Davis (2014) that food should not be thought of as addictive, as food is essential for human survival and with a proper diet with all the vitamins and mineral that the body require humans can live a healthy life (pp. 129). • 52. Difference Between Eastern And Confucianism How has the world changed in just one century? How has it changed in a decade? To say that we live in the same world today as we did 10 years or 100 years ago would be incorrect. In a matter of months or days our lives and society itself changes. Whether it be through new technology or political ideology, we experience a different way of life in a short period of time. Taking this into account, how do we continue to apply Confucianism to an ever changing world? Are eastern countries still affected by these longstanding values present in the four books or have they shifted as well? If so, when did they start to differ? Firstly, I believe that though the way of life changes and we advance to a higher standard of living compared to the dark ages, there have been certain core principles that have persevered through the times. No matter the year these values held within a society guide its community. However, I believe that there are very obvious differences between a western and eastern society when it comes to this. An eastern society follows the above rule to the T unlike western society. For example, in America, the ideologies of the people have changed over time such as, unwavering respect for your parents. American s used to respect their parents at the expense of their own happiness. Over time, America has grown more individualistic and have lost respect for their elders.
