It all began in 1948 when an all white government called the National Party gained
power in South Africa. It was the birth of apartheid a political and economic
separation of people (Kedari 2013). The National Party institutionalized racial
discrimination for nearly fifty years. Under President Nelson Mandela, apartheid was
brought to an end by the African National Congress in 1994. In the novel Disgrace,
author J.M. Coetzee focuses on the early moments in the disempowerment of South
Africas white people. Protagonist David Lurie is a middle aged white man that
lives in the city of Cape Town. He is a professor at Cape Technical University
formerly known as Cape Town University College (Raj). Married twice and divorced
twice, David s personality raises questions about his relationships with the women in
his life. He is not ashamed to solicit prostitutes, and has an inappropriate relationship
with one of his black students, a girl named Melanie.
David has a daughter, Lucy, who lives on a farm in the rural part of Cape Town. As
whites in South Africa, both David and Lucy witnessed the racial discriminations
against blacks during apartheid. They both are struggling to understand their places in
a post apartheid era.
David s struggles began after his affair with young Melanie became public

Dissecting Gender Roles in A Streetcar Named Desire The representation of gender
roles is among the most prominent recurring subjects in theatre, literature and
expressive art as we know it. Gender, and what it means to human beings, is a
subject that is as difficult to precisely define as death, race, and the concept of
existence. Anne Beall, Ph.D. graduate in Social Psychology at Yale University, details
in her book The Psychology of Gender that Gender is socially defined masculinity
and femininity. Social psychology studies how gender is defined, created, and
maintained through social influence, especially in the course of social interaction
(Beall; 10). The nature of gender roles is ultimately dictated by temporal, societal,
biological and even geographical dimensions that are out of our control and though

Abstract
The printed antenna is one of the most preferred antenna structures for low cost and
compact design of wireless communication systems. In this paper we have
investigated a new approach for improving the radiation efficiency and performance
of the antennas with the size miniaturization, in particular we have simulated two
types of UWB printed monopole antennas for proving this approach with results:
circular patch and Compact Miniaturized Semi Circular patch UWB monopole
antennas and in detail investigation was presented on size miniaturization in order to
achieve very compactness and high radiation efficiency with out degradation of the
functional parameters and overall performance. Simple rectangular microstrip lines
are used for feeding the printed monopole antennas. This UWB monopole antenna
designed works well for the whole UWB frequency band 3.1 10.6GHz.
