EVALUATING THE VARIOUS FACTORS EFFECTING BRAND EXTENSION IN FMCG
Abstract
Purpose: Brand extension refers to the use of recognized brand names for introducing new offerings .
In a typical brand extension situation, an established brand name is applied to a new product in a
category either related or unrelated, in order to take advantage of the equity of the core brand name.
The present study is based on two highest selling FMCG companies in India i.e. Hindustan Unilever
ITC. Indian Tobacco Company Limited ITC is rated among world s most reputable companies by
Forbes magazine and among India s most valuable companies by Business Today. It ranks among
India s 10 Most Valuable (Company) Brands , in a study conducted by Brand Finance and published

The Day Of The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald
She was just an average 18 year old girl, when she thought her life was over. It all had happened three
months ago. It was just another sunny fall day, in the Malibu, California. She had gone through four
years of high school just to get to this point. She thought it would one of the best days of her life, until
it all fell apart. Finally after three months she thought it was all over. Then Becky Newman realized
she was in for a very long ride, that would change everything.
Three months ago It was time to leave. She was ecstatic she had been waiting for so long and today
was the day. Today is the day Becky Newman leaves for college. She had decided to stay close to

Fabio? Is that you? Becky exclaimed.
Oh my gosh Becky, you look so different. Fabio said surprised. When Becky had first moved into her
house in Malibu, she met Fabio he was her best friend. A year later he moved away, but both of their
dreams were to go to usc for college.
Oh my bad, this is Jessica she is my roommate. Becky said pointing to Jessica.
Nice to meet you. Jessica said
You too, Fabio replied.
So Jessica, Becky, and Fabio ended up spending the rest of the day together. They had dinner and then
realized it was getting late, so Fabio went back to his dorm and Jessica and Becky went back to theirs.
As Becky was in the verge of sleep, her phone started ringing. It was an unknown number so she
ignored it at first. The same number then called back immediately. This time she answered.
Hello? Becky said groggily.
Hello, is this Becky Newman? An emotionless voice said.
Yes this is she, may I ask who is calling. Becky asked confused as to why someone would be calling at
1:45 am.
I m so sorry I have to be the one to tell you, but your parents are in the hospital, and I am simply their
nurse. The lady explained. Becky sat there paralyzed, not knowing what to do.
W what happened to them? Becky cried to the lady.
They took walk tonight, and someone shot them, they are both in comas.

Comparing Women In Hinduism And Christianity
Throughout history women have been treated as objects. Although it has never been a better time to be
a woman, people today treat women with disrespect. A reason women are treated this way is because
of religion and the societies that surround them. Some religions have put women down and morphed
the image of women to fulfill their religious views. Two of these aforementioned religions are
Hinduism and Christianity. These religions have made out women to be lower than men in both
similar and different ways. Hinduism and Christianity put women in a negative light and it effects the
women in their communities.
Like most religions the perception of women has evolved over time. Sometimes it was for the better
other times it is for the worse. An example of this is exemplified in Hinduism. According to A Concise
Encyclopedia of Hinduism by Klaus K. Klostermaier, In Vedic times women were the equals of men
in almost ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example:
Leviticus 12:2
Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then
she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be
unclean.
1 Corinthians 11:3 *
But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman [is] the
man; and the head of Christ [is] God. (And many more)
Unfortunately, some people in the faith believe that women are automatically sinners because of Eve
eating the fruit and due to the aforementioned verses. Although the severity in the discrimination isn t
as overt as in Hinduism, there are still issues that affect Christian women today. The history of
Christianity would have had a very different development if it had not been for the generous support
of many women... who played an effective and precious role in spreading the Gospel. Their witness
cannot be forgotten.

The Silence Of The Lambs Analysis
The Silence of the Lambs directed by Jonathan Demme in 1991 is said to be the best Crime, Drama,
Thrillers.. all in one. The movie The Silence of the Lambs that won the Best Picture Oscar for my
year(1991) clearly adheres to and reflects the influence of Hero s Journey story structure from Acts
one, two, and three throughout the whole movie by using Call To Adventure, Crossing the threshold,
Tests, Enemies and Allies, Ordeal , and Return With The Elixir. The main Character Clarice is
assigned to work on a case where she must interview Dr. Lecter (Hannibal the Cannibal ) who is
known as one of the most frightening serial killers of all time to aid her and give her clues to in order
to figure out the cause behind Buffalo Bills Murders. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Approach to Inmost Cave is showing when Clarice reveals her past when she was orphaned on a
farm at a young age and was frightened by the slaughtering of the lambs and ran away. The director
added this because it reveals the title of the story The Silence of the Lambs relates to her at a young
age witnessing the Lambs being slaughtered and this allows for Clarice to choose to silence her pain
that haunts her. Leading into the Ordeal where Clarice accidentally ends up at Buffalo Bill s House!
Crawford sent her away from where they thought he was but ended up being where Clarice went
where Catherine Martin was being held by Buffalo Bill. She is forced to chase Buffalo Bill into his
lair where he then forces her to find her way through the dark while he uses his night vision goggles to
follow her. Before Buffalo Bill can hurt her, he is shot and killed in the dark by Clarice. Clarice then
reaches the Reward (Seizing The Sword) stage of act two where she rescues Catherine Martin and the
dog making her a hero all on her own and finally respected by her other colleagues and superiors.
Lastly act three after her great success we run into The Road Back where Clarice is at the FBI
academy for her graduation where she runs into Jack Crawford who congratulates her on her case.
Now she has proven herself worth in the Bureau and did more than Crawford though she was capable

Ester And The Fischer Esterification Of Esters
Esters are a specific type of functional group that can be derived from carboxylic acids. The COOH
group found within a carboxylic acid is changed to form an ester, specifically the hydrogen molecule,
which is replaced by a hydrocarbon. Esters are present in many common things like animal and
vegetable fats and oils. Made up of long, complex esters, the physical differences between fats and
oils are in fact due to the different melting points of esters contained in each. For example, if the
melting point of a substance is said to be below room temperature, the product will be a liquid and
thus be classified as an oil. In contrast, if the melting point is said to be above room temperature, the
product will be a solid and thus be classified as a fat. Esters can also be found in many perfumes or
fragrances since they have a pleasant or fruity aroma. This unique smell is highly dependent on the
structure of the molecule, meaning that even the slightest change can alter its scent. This is very
important when considering how esters are formed. As stated previously, esters are derived from
carboxylic acids, and thus need to be obtained through special reactions, like the Fischer Esterification
reaction. Fischer esterification is the process of creating an ester from a carboxylic acid by heating it
with an alcohol, while in the presence of a strong acid being used as the catalyst. This reaction needs
to be monitored very closely to make sure the ester is formed correctly in order

Taking a Look at Emerging Churches
Before plodding full steam ahead, it would behoove us to pin down some important definitions and
qualifiers. First the term emerging church. In 2006, at a lecture at Westminster Seminary, Scot
McKnight proffered that, there is no emerging church ...it is a movement, or a conversation. This
statement, now nearly a decade old was made in an attempt to clarify to his audience that
emerging/emergent ≠ denomination . This clarified distinction still stands; however as time has gone
by, the aforementioned conversation as well as the term emergent itself have experienced some
emergence. Indeed, there are now some churches that would willingly self identify (or allow others to
take the liberty of identifying them) in such a manner. More often than not, however, they would also
(and preferably, I might add) identify themselves as missional . (More on that in a bit). Emerging
churches have several characteristics that make them similar to one another in some respects. But first,
let s discuss what they are not. They are not a theological movement, and therefore do not hold in
common a defined set of doctrinal beliefs or confessional statements. They are, however, theological
in the sense that they are all about having conversation (as they like to put it) about Christian faith,
mission and praxis in the context of the core classical Christian creeds. In true post modernist style,
they are willing to discuss the relevance, veracity and need for

Stigma In Dallas Buyers Club
Erving Goffman maintained that negative labels are often stigmatizing. He believed that stigmas result
in a spoiled identity. Goffman coined the term stigma to describe the labels society uses to devalue
members of certain social groups (pg. 107). He identified three categories or types of stigmas:
abominations of the body, blemishes of individual character, and tribal. When a person became aware
of a certain stigma they had been labeled to, Goffman noted three ways to manage it: hide the stigma,
distance themselves from the stigma or try to correct it, and embrace or accept the stigma. The movie
Dallas Buyers Club offers a chance to see several stigmas brought to light, and the way that each was
handled. For instance there are examples of HIV/AIDS, homosexuality, feminism, and criminal
activity that are prevalent and shape the way the movie is organized. Dallas Buyers Club is based on a
true story of Ron Woodruff, a Texan redneck, who is outspokenly homophobic, works as an
electrician, and lives in a small unit in a trailer park. Ron first appears at the Rodeo, where riding and
gambling seem to be his favorite pastimes along with promiscuous sex, consuming copious amounts
of alcohol and snorting cocaine. One day at work, he suffers a substantial injury that mandates his
blood be drawn. He is diagnosed with HIV (and later contracts AIDS), sending his life into a
downward spiral of isolation and dilemma. The doctors inform Ron that not only is he HIV positive,

Juvenile Delinquency Is Committed By A Minor Under The Age...
Juvenile delinquency refers to a status offense that is committed by a minor under the age of 18. Status
offenses include crimes against property, for example, vandalism or stealing, physical violence against
others for example, aggravated assault, murder, other crimes such as drug abuse violations, curfew and
loitering, and driving under the influence; and sexual crimes for example sexual assault or rape
(Enginurt, Ozer, Demir, Yildirim, Cankaya, 2014; Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency
Prevention, n.d.). Statistics of crimes committed by juveniles include the following: 225 arrests for
violent Crime Index offenses for every 100,000 youth between the ages of 10 and 17 years old,
juveniles were known to be involved in 8% of all homicides, and violent crimes committed by
juveniles peaked during the after school hours (National Institute of Justice, n.d.).
Juvenile Courts deal with minors who have been accused of committing a delinquent act and are
considered juvenile delinquency cases. When a case is heard is juvenile court the prosecutor typically
looks at the following things according to lawyer Kathleen Michon (2015): the severity of the offense,
the juvenile s age, the juvenile s past record, the strength of the evidence in the case, the juvenile s
gender (boys are more likely to be charged than girls), the juvenile s social history, and the ability of
the minor s parents to control his or her behavior (p.1). Two options are seen in juvenile court, they are

Superstition Is The Belief Of Supernatural Items And...
Superstition it is the belief in supernatural items and occurrences; one event causes another to happen
without any real logical reason or linkage between the events. Examples being: astrology, religion,
luck, voodoo, ancient roman activities and prophecies. The major artifact science fights are
superstitions due to science being logical as well as able to show linage between two events
superstitious activities cannot. They are used in everyday life by everyday people, whether it s
subconscious or not. Look at the facts, they discern superstitions played out in everyday lifestyles,
take Major League Baseball for example, all the athletes share common superstitions, and these
superstitions can be seen throughout an variety of different cultures such as the Europeans, Irish and
Indians along with common American lives. One culture, superstition affects is baseball. It is a sport
with a long and various histories of that fretful and wonderful thing called superstition. From the
infamous Curse of the Bambino I m sure you ve watched The Sandlot to some players refusal to wash
their soiled, pungent uniforms after a win. Superstition is present in a colossal part of baseball, even
kissing a necklace as well as raising a finger to the sky is a superstition used for good luck. Many
baseball players, fielders, batters along with pitchers, put on extensive, repetitive routines before they
take the field due to illogical beliefs. For example, the desire to

Cell Phones Are Changing The Lives Of Canadians
Cell Phones In Canadian Lives I believe cell phones are changing the lives of Canadians in a negative
way for several different reasons; all of which will be outlined below. First is the issue of intimacy in
relationships, because of cell phones we seem to have lost intimacy in our relationships. I am not just
talking about the intimacy between couples, I am referring to the intimacy in all of our relationships. It
is not unusual for a group of friends to be in the same room, and barely talk to each other. Some might
say it is unnecessary to speak just because you are together, and I would agree, except I am not
referring to the comfortable silence that occurs when people are together. I am referring to the silence
that occurs when every other person in the room has their cell phone in their hand, texting, watching
Youtube, or checking their Facebook page. I have witnessed two people texting each other, you say, so
what s the big deal? , I then explain that they were sitting beside each other! How many times in an
hour do you check your cell phone? According to research scientist Helen Lee Lin, writing in
Scientific American, the report suggests that cell phones may serve as a reminder of the wider network
to which we could connect, inhibiting our ability to connect with the people right next to us.

Statistics Experiment
For my maths coursework I will be conducting an investigation into statistics. I had a choice for this
coursework of both statistics on year 10 to 11 school children, and facts about them and also their
likes in terms of sport and subjects at school. I chose not to do this project on that information; instead
I chose data on 100 different cars, the reason for this is that I like cars more and may perhaps pursue it
as a career. I did not want to do a project on data that I have no interest in.

For my coursework I will be hopefully conducting a total of 3 different investigations into this survey,
though this may change to 2 or 4. My aim is to look for a correlation in the separate investigations and
perhaps if I can draw any conclusions or maybe find a formula or prediction for a particular
investigation that will work for all or most cars. E.g. if from mileage, price when new and age I can
calculate the current second hand price.
My investigation will be:
The frequency of mileage in my sample, if there is a relationship between the second hand price and
age of a car, and finally if there is relationship between the age and percentage loss of a car.
I will be taking a sample of 20 cars; I will take every 5th car in the database. I will show the data in
terms of tables, a tally chart, and by way of bar, and scatter graphs with a line of best fit if applicable.
To improve my investigation I will take a sample of 5 cars, which will not be included in my final
investigation, but this 5 car sample is to test my investigation techniques, and to allow me to foresee
and problems and practise in investigating statistics.
I will not be able to take all 100 cars and will have to do my investigations on different samples of the
survey, I hope to take 1/5 of the cars, and I will do my investigations on 20 cars. I

Pros And Cons Of Conformity
John F. Kennedy once said, Conformity is the jailer of freedom and the enemy of growth. There are
countless opinions, studies, and surveys such as these, which contribute a negative gist towards
conformity. Most individuals concentrate on how conformity damages, and destructs; and very rarely
focus on the constructive and favorable aspects of conformism. No one stops to understand why
people conform in the first place. Conformity benefits society in several ways and contradictory to
most beliefs, not everybody conforms.
Conformity is a vital part of developing a collective identity. While some might debate that conformity
restricts a lot of social liberty within individuals; the other perspective views conformity as an integral

Simulation of Dynamic Responses of First Order and Second...
Objectives:
As part of the experiment requirements, we were required to simulate the dynamic response of a first
order and a second order linear system with the help of LabVIEW. One of our first objectives of this
experiment was to observe the response of the first order system to the input step signal and then
relate it to the time constant of that specific first order system. The second objective of this experiment
included observing the second order system to the input step signal and then relating it to the damping
ratio of the specific second order system. The third and most important objective of this experiment
was to use different functions of LabVIEW including loop execution control, LabVIEW formula node,

A shift register was then used to store the y value for the next iteration (y(n 1)) in case of the first
order system while a 2 stacked shift register, in case of a second order system, was used to store the y
values from previous iterations (y(n 1) and y(n 2)). A formula node was used in order to input the
formula required to program the algorithm for each of the first and second order systems respectively.
After providing the required number inputs and outputs (as per the requirement of each of the formula
respectively), a waveform function was used to create the waveform data from the output data and
determine the time interval of the input waveform. After using an array to contain all the input and
output waveforms, a graph indicator was finally added to the VI to display the final graphical
representation of the output data.
After saving, each of the VI were run separately set at different time constants (for the first order
system) and different damping ratios and 100 Hz undamped natural frequency (for the second order
ratio).
Results:
After creating the VI for first order differential systems in LabVIEW, we ran the VI using five
different time constant values (0.01, 0.03, 0.05, 0.07, 0.1) and received the following graphs:

Essay On Internalized False Confession
The myth that I chose is, Virtually all people who confess to a crime are guilty . False confessions are
very common so investigators try to keep all evidence and information about a crime out of the media.
Investigators do this because there are so many people who take the information from the media and
use it to confess to a crime they did not commit. People may confess to crimes they did not commit for
a number of reasons such as, protecting a loved one, or being pressured into confessing. Some
investigators, when interrogating suspects, will do good cop bad cop. This kind of interrogating
strategy, makes the suspect believe that they are guilty even though they know they are innocent.

attention. Some investigators did not believe Karr s confession because he only provided facts about
the crime that were known to the public and presented in the media. Karr didn t provide any details

of Dryden Corporation and John is the CEO of Mega Corporation. John has been talking to Jack about
the possibility of joining Mega Corporation s board of directors. Sam Bigger is the chairman and
former CEO of Mega Corporation. They need an answer from Jack by the end of the month in order to
get his name in for nomination. However, there are some issues that Jack wants to think through and
discuss with his wife before making a decision. First, Jack is worried about the future of Dryden
Corporation. Even though the company has grown and been successful for the past ten years, it has
been rather stagnant lately. He isn t sure how to get it back on the right track. One option is an
acquisition with Mega Corporation, which seems to always do well. Mega has acquired 20 companies
and sold 10 of them. Sam Bigger never lost money on any of the deals, and even became profitable
with some of the investments. On the other hand, Mega Corporation s financials are going downhill.
Despite having a strong balance sheet, there was a benefit pension plan that was hugely under funded.
The income statement was worse. Sales were nearly cut in half, due largely to the fact that foreign
competition was squeezing out the margins. Profits and cash flow dropped even more than sales.

Who Is Henry James The Turn Of The Screw
Henry James
The Turn of the Screw
For my chosen text I found interest in Henry James s The Turn of the Screw. I discovered the Sherlock
Holmes, investigative and suspense type short story to be, right up my alley. That and the mention of
ghosts made me excited. I grew up in a haunted house and love ghost stories. I have tried to read
romance in the past and I have enjoyed it. Allowing for possibilities such as horror and the fantastic
while excluding psychoanalysis as an approach to the text. (Lee 2007) I soon fell in love, once I
combined romance and horror. That s what I love to read and write. I have not uncovered all the
depths to this piece of fiction, but I am looking forward to it.
The Turn of the of Screw was written in 1898 by Henry James. I found from my summarized readings,
the theories that would deepen my understanding of this short novel. They are the Psychoanalytic and
Feminist criticism theories. The plot centers around a young governess hired to watch over the niece

Dracula takes the lives of multiple people in the novel, he even threatens people about taking their

afterwards. ...except that the poor fellow is dead ... I did not see him; but I saw a bat rise from
Renfield s window, and flap westward (Stoker 337). Dracula sneaks into the asylum where Renfield is
at and he beats him nearly to death, and then afterwards he comes back and ends his life. Dracula also
murders a mother who is looking for her child by releasing a pack of wolves. Monster, give me back
my child!...there was no cry from the woman, and the howling of the wolves was but short (Stoker

he stands as a perverted Christ figure. He is not loving others like it says in the bible to do, and he is
committing murder just like it says in the bible not to do. ...do not murder, and anyone who murders

Imal A Short Story
Sunlight streamed down on the desert surface as just under the sands, bruised knuckles punched
through the flimsy wooden top of a makeshift coffin. As the dirt poured into the closed space, the
unfortunate person inside packed the dirt towards her feet and the sides of the rectangular box. After
enough sand and dirt was freed, the woman sat forward and crawled up and out, using her upper body
strength to pull her out of her own sandy grave. As she stood up, blinking in the blaring heat, the
woman, Imala, gripped her shawl down to cover her dark skin from the sun. Her long dark hair was
pulled into a braid, easy for her cowboy hat to sit atop her head. Upon feeling the sun s heat on the top
of her head, she cursed in Apache.

In an instant, Imala kicked a couple of long wooden boxes and many other supplies that were lying on
the floor out of the door to the room thrusting them out of the train. Sebastian whipped his head to
look, and in his distraction, Imala drew her revolver and shot the criminal in the leg. He cried out in
pain and she tackled both him and Sebastian out of the door, off the train. Forgotten in the fight, Eli
got up, appearing stunned and realized he now had to take the controls.
Meanwhile, the skirmish continued outside while the three figures rolled out onto the desert sands
with a thud. Imala was still outgunned, but now Eli could take the train back to Grace.
You ve really done it now, missy. The boss attempted to get up, but Sebastian decked her across the
face for him. He pulled out his gun and aimed it at her, but the criminal started shouting.
Wait, wait, wait! the boss cried out angrily as Sebastian paused. You see the shovel and box? Imala
and Sebastian glanced over to the pile of items Imala had kicked out of the moving train including
boxes and tools. I have an idea. Missy, pick up that shovel and start

Comparison Of Misogyny In The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow By...
In three stories written by, Washington Irving, they all portray him into a man of misogyny. In the
story, The Devil and Tom Walker , disappearing never to return a man s wife takes all their belonging
of worthiness. In the story, Rip Van Winkle , a man tired of his wife is nagging, wanders off into the
woods, vanishing for twenty years. In the story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow , a man that goes by the
name Broom Bones, brainwashed by womanly charm receives a rude awakening when the woman s
he cherishes picks a different man. Repeatedly, Washington Irving conceived as a woman hater; this
may or may not be true. In the story, The Devil and Tom Walker , a man s wife takes all their
belongings of worthiness, disappearing never to return. More into the story, the man, Tom Walker,
meet the devil, and the evil spirit wanted him to sell his soul. Without a doubt, Tom would have made
lots of money. Consequently, this offer went through his head as he went back to his house. Once
home, he told his wife about the encounter, she wanted him to take the proposal. Once he heard this,
all the thoughts running through his head jumped out. Fortunately, Tom disliked this woman so much
he now would not sell his soul to the evil, because she wanted him to. Therefore, with this the woman
took it into her own hands to get rich off selling her soul. Unfortunately, she took all their most
valuable possession to the black evil man in the woods. No doubt, the way Irving portrays the

Comparing Frankenstein And Trayvon Martin
Society s perception of others starts first with appearance which brings about isolation and racism
against others appearing abnormal. This has been a recurring problem in the world for several
centuries because people wrongfully judge values on looks. In real life minorities are perceived as
criminals and in Gulliver s Travels, Gulliver is immediately seen as a threat because of his physical
advantage. The main characters in Frankenstein, Gulliver s Travels, and Trayvon Martin in What
happened the night Trayvon Martin died were persecuted because of how they seemed or looked on
the outside. In these works individuals are othered which led to them being emotionally and physically
harmed. In Shelley s Frankenstein, the creature was othered to the point that he resorted to violence.
When the creature first encounters human beings they react with disturbance and exclusion which
leads to his isolation. The creature recounts his story saying, I had hardly placed my foot within the
door, before the children shrieked, and one of the women fainted (93). This quote shows how the
Creature wants to be accepted into society, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is important that the fictional stories address exclusion because it is still relevant today with
situations such as Trayvon Martin. Ostracizing others as monsters or criminals because they do not
look normal is saddenning and ridiculous because it creates a divide in any population. Authors
understand that this is not only for fictional characters and mythical creatures, but it is also a symbol
for the people who are considered different in their area because of their appearance. All of these
stories can relate because each person or creature is being isolated as a subject of othering or
judgement that is based off their

Research Paper On Pizza Box
Blake Truxillo
Mr. Fabacher
Chemistry
15 October 2017
Science Fair Research Paper In this project a pizza box will be used to make a solar oven. In the solar
oven there will be black paint. The black paint is to see if the oven will get hotter, then if there was not
any black paint in the box. He will put different amounts of black paint in the pizza boxes to see if he
can get the box to get hotter. He will also use foil to see if he can get the heat to stay in the box longer.
He figures that the more foil he puts in the pizza box then the less black paint he will have to put in the
pizza box. He figures that the foil will hold in the heat more than just a lot of black paint would.
He will put just black paint in one box. He also will put just foil in one box. He will see which one
will get hotter within a certain time period. He will then see if he makes one with black paint and foil,
if it will get hotter than the other one that got hotter. He will have to test the pizza boxes on a hot
sunny day. He will have to test all the pizza boxes on the same day in the same heat. How will he test
the pizza boxes? He will take all three of the different boxes and put them outside at the same time, on
the same day. He will then go outside and measure the temperature in the boxes at the same time. He
will then figure out if the black paint or the foil box was hotter. He will then see if the box with both
black paint and foil is hotter.

The Pros And Cons Of Self Censorship
In today s society, people no longer communicate with each other on a respectful level. Although
everyone has their own opinion, this generation does not take other people s opinions into perspective.
There are very few leaders who are setting examples for their peers. They are constantly bashing their
objectors for not having the same opinions and ideas that they think are competent. This causes this
generation to self censor themselves because they do not want to receive negative backlash on their
opinions and ideas. Self censorship is exercising control over what one has to say and how he or she
may act in order to avoid castigation (English Oxford Living Dictionaries). It also obstructs creativity
and prevents individuals from forming their own opinions and ideas.
Self censorship prevents this generation from exploring the depths of creativity and forces people to
hold back opinions that may be bottled up on the inside. It can affect everyone. Adults often have
business ideas that they think can impact our younger generation and that generation to come, but
because of the fear of co workers disagreeing with them, they may contradict their original thought.
This precludes their talents from advancing on to the next level of success (OxBow School). Students
sometimes can have different opinions than their teachers, but out of fear of getting in trouble, they
never vocalize their opinions. This can at times affect the relationship between the teachers and their
students

A New Way of Leadership
A New Way of Leadership Cultural Identity Steve Jobs Steve Jobs, the co founder and former CEO of
Apple was constantly making sure that Apple incorporated was running at its full potential. Apple
today is continuing to grow, even without Jobs, but are lacking in what made the company truly shine
brighter than all of its competitors. Jobs found out, through many years of experience, that the way for
a company to be successful was to loosen the reins a little bit, and by doing that you gained more

Another thing that Cook did differently as his time as CEO was that he actually made the effort to talk
to investors, unlike Jobs who didn t deem it necessary. Cook created a program that matches employee
gifts to charity by granting a dividend to its shareholders. Tim Cook has been taking Apple in a whole
new direction. Cook has made many changes to the company, many of them were extremely important
to the successfulness of Apple. Cook also took charge in a controversy over in China about how the
workers were being treated. Cook went over to the factory and made changes in how they were being
treated and didn t keep the trip quiet either, he wanted the people to know what he was doing and why.
After his trip to China, Cook had Apple join the Fair Labor Association, which is a third party industry
financed group that visits all of Apple s factories and report any findings that that are hindering the
workers treatment. When Job s stepped down from the CEO role of Apple he told Cook that he wanted
him to do what was best for the company and not constantly think what would Steve do which gave
Cook the confidence in taking over the company and making some extremely important decisions on
what Apple needed to do differently under his rule. The Complications of New Leadership It doesn t
matter where you work or what you do at work, the culture of the business is extremely important.

HIV is not only spread through sexual contact. Sex workers are another common way for people to

and HIV. For the people who do not know their HIV and AIDS status, at home tests would allow them
to test themselves. This would give individuals the knowledge of what their own status is if they were

problems would not be so bad in Africa. Another way to treat these people with the disease is by

organizations because employees will want to keep their jobs. Employment is still low but there are
those that will leave a job because of situations like these. The Nelson case shows that employers

Difference Between Tourism And Culture
Tourism and Culture
Tourism is one of the links for an individual to visit the particular country to explore and experience
the cultures different from one s own. Every culture has their own unique culture, by opening doors
for other countries to visit, it allows other people to learn more about the culture and spread the culture
to other people. It also allows the country itself to be aware of other people s cultures and learn from
each other. Allowing globalization and better relationship with other countries. One of the most
common links is the culture between westerners and Asian countries as their cultural beliefs are
different from each other. Asian embraces unity while westerners embrace individualism. The best
time to introduce tourism is before the festival holidays, where people often wear their traditional
clothes and celebrate their festivals according to their traditions. Such as Chinese celebrate Chinese
New Year and give offerings to their gods to request for blessing and peace for the coming years. This
is a perfect opportunity for other tourist to witness this event to allow maximum exposure experience
of the culture. Advertising events through commercials or magazines are one of the best ways to

because of this I remember scanning through majors that didn t fit all my interests simultaneously. For
a moment, Liberal Arts caught my eye as it gave me the freedom to explore my own identity.
However, upon sharing this out loud with those in my mesosystem the underlying message of
choosing this major ultimately ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Liberal Education isn t focused on the political aspect of liberalism, however focuses on liberating its
students by giving students space to explore their passions deeply. This exploration cannot happen in
an education program that is built off of individualism and its exclusivity must constantly be
challenged. As Cronon states, We should remember the powerful class and gender biases that were
built into this vision of freedom. The free man who studied the Liberal Arts were male aristocrats;
these specialized bodies of knowledge were status markers that set them apart from unfree serfs and
peasants, as well as from the members of other vulgar and ignoble classes. Our modern sense of
Liberal Education has expanded from this medieval foundation to include a greater range of human
talents and a much more inclusive number of human beings, holding out at least the dream that
everyone might someday be liberated by an education that stands in the service of human freedom
(Olejarz, 2017). Liberal Education isn t about mastering a particular subject. Instead Liberal Education
is about mastering positive characteristics that foster a deeper sense of personal identity and cultivate
human freedom. When the debate between STEM and Liberal Education arise the underlying
impression of those that support segregating the importance of these two focuses challenge that

Development Of The Mammalian Central Nervous System Essay
During normal development of the mammalian central nervous system (CNS), neural stem cells
(NSC) give rise to neurons via process of neurogenesis (Kempermann et al., 2004; Zhao et al., 2008).
Neurogenesis normally occurs in dentate gyrus (DG) region of the hippocampus and lateral ventricle
of sub ventricular zone (SVZ) (Zhao et al., 2008). Hippocampal neurogenesis plays pivotal role in
neurologic and psychiatric disorder like epilepsy, depression, schizophrenia and mood disorders
(Antonova et al., 2004; Keller and Roberts, 2008; Lucassen et al., 2006; Zhao et al., 2008).
Development of the nervous system is complex, and includes multistep dynamic processes such as
proliferation, differentiation, migration, expansion of axons and dendrites, synapse formation,
myelination and programmed cell death (Rice and Barone, 2000). These processes required the
coordinated expression of cellular and molecular events in a spatial and temporal manner during the
brain development (Rice and Barone, 2000; Rodier, 1994). Several growth factors and signal
transduction cascades have been implicated in controlling NSC behavior in the developing brain
(Faigle and Song, 2013). Among these, members of the Wnt family of secreted glycoprotein thought
to be variably influence proliferation and lineage decisions of NSC and their progeny (Clevers et al.,
2014).
Several environmental toxicants including heavy metals, solvents, pesticides and endocrine disrupting
chemicals (EDCs) modulate the normal

Why It Is Important To Greek Art Essay
Excuse me, my friends for bringing up this topic at such a busy time, but I feel like this a topic that
must be addressed. For many years, Athens was the place for culture. Lycon, you remember those
days where you would throw those fantastic parties! Meletus father was a playwright. Look where it
brought them. To this assembly. My fellow Athenians, we must support the arts in order to become the
center place for Greek culture, and so we do not become idiots like our neighbors, the Spartans. Those
in poverty need entertainment. Let s walk through the life of a poor person. First, they get up in the
morning, usually very early, and start to head off for their workplace. At their workplace, they toil and
toil away until it is time to go home. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imagine a paved road, going straight across the world until it reaches the end of the earth and falls off.
There is only one way to go. A person who follows this way will become a follower, and will not be
able to make decisions, and will eventually reach the end of the earth and fall off, his voice never to be
heard from again. Now, imagine that the road has many branching pathways, one leading to
righteousness, one leading to justice, one leading to a naked man taking a shower. These are all
choices that we can make. When a person appreciates music, their mind is opened up so that they can
make decisions that are more thought out. Take Crito for example. As a follower of Socrates, and rich
man, you must have some musical training. He used his musical training to develop a new way of
eating pork skins! Instead of getting his hands dirty with, he used a piece of paper to grab his pork
skin and eat it! However, on a serious note, if music is supported, then we will have many people in
our assembly who do have different views, and who do think their ideas out before presenting them.
That, in turn, will lead to a fairer democracy, for we will have more ideas that are of the

  • 6. Comparing Women In Hinduism And Christianity Throughout history women have been treated as objects. Although it has never been a better time to be a woman, people today treat women with disrespect. A reason women are treated this way is because of religion and the societies that surround them. Some religions have put women down and morphed the image of women to fulfill their religious views. Two of these aforementioned religions are Hinduism and Christianity. These religions have made out women to be lower than men in both similar and different ways. Hinduism and Christianity put women in a negative light and it effects the women in their communities. Like most religions the perception of women has evolved over time. Sometimes it was for the better other times it is for the worse. An example of this is exemplified in Hinduism. • 8. Ester And The Fischer Esterification Of Esters Esters are a specific type of functional group that can be derived from carboxylic acids. The COOH group found within a carboxylic acid is changed to form an ester, specifically the hydrogen molecule, which is replaced by a hydrocarbon. Esters are present in many common things like animal and vegetable fats and oils. Made up of long, complex esters, the physical differences between fats and oils are in fact due to the different melting points of esters contained in each. For example, if the melting point of a substance is said to be below room temperature, the product will be a liquid and thus be classified as an oil. In contrast, if the melting point is said to be above room temperature, the product will be a solid and thus be classified as a fat. Esters can also be found in many perfumes or fragrances since they have a pleasant or fruity aroma. This unique smell is highly dependent on the structure of the molecule, meaning that even the slightest change can alter its scent. This is very important when considering how esters are formed. As stated previously, esters are derived from carboxylic acids, and thus need to be obtained through special reactions, like the Fischer Esterification reaction. Fischer esterification is the process of creating an ester from a carboxylic acid by heating it with an alcohol, while in the presence of a strong acid being used as the catalyst. This reaction needs to be monitored very closely to make sure the ester is formed correctly in order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Taking a Look at Emerging Churches Before plodding full steam ahead, it would behoove us to pin down some important definitions and qualifiers. First the term emerging church. In 2006, at a lecture at Westminster Seminary, Scot McKnight proffered that, there is no emerging church ...it is a movement, or a conversation. This statement, now nearly a decade old was made in an attempt to clarify to his audience that emerging/emergent ≠ denomination . This clarified distinction still stands; however as time has gone by, the aforementioned conversation as well as the term emergent itself have experienced some emergence. Indeed, there are now some churches that would willingly self identify (or allow others to take the liberty of identifying them) in such a manner. More often than not, however, they would also (and preferably, I might add) identify themselves as missional . (More on that in a bit). Emerging churches have several characteristics that make them similar to one another in some respects. But first, let s discuss what they are not. They are not a theological movement, and therefore do not hold in common a defined set of doctrinal beliefs or confessional statements. They are, however, theological in the sense that they are all about having conversation (as they like to put it) about Christian faith, mission and praxis in the context of the core classical Christian creeds. In true post modernist style, they are willing to discuss the relevance, veracity and need for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Stigma In Dallas Buyers Club Erving Goffman maintained that negative labels are often stigmatizing. He believed that stigmas result in a spoiled identity. Goffman coined the term stigma to describe the labels society uses to devalue members of certain social groups (pg. 107). He identified three categories or types of stigmas: abominations of the body, blemishes of individual character, and tribal. When a person became aware of a certain stigma they had been labeled to, Goffman noted three ways to manage it: hide the stigma, distance themselves from the stigma or try to correct it, and embrace or accept the stigma. The movie Dallas Buyers Club offers a chance to see several stigmas brought to light, and the way that each was handled. For instance there are examples of HIV/AIDS, homosexuality, feminism, and criminal activity that are prevalent and shape the way the movie is organized. Dallas Buyers Club is based on a true story of Ron Woodruff, a Texan redneck, who is outspokenly homophobic, works as an electrician, and lives in a small unit in a trailer park. Ron first appears at the Rodeo, where riding and gambling seem to be his favorite pastimes along with promiscuous sex, consuming copious amounts of alcohol and snorting cocaine. One day at work, he suffers a substantial injury that mandates his blood be drawn. • 13. Cell Phones Are Changing The Lives Of Canadians Cell Phones In Canadian Lives I believe cell phones are changing the lives of Canadians in a negative way for several different reasons; all of which will be outlined below. First is the issue of intimacy in relationships, because of cell phones we seem to have lost intimacy in our relationships. I am not just talking about the intimacy between couples, I am referring to the intimacy in all of our relationships. It is not unusual for a group of friends to be in the same room, and barely talk to each other. Some might say it is unnecessary to speak just because you are together, and I would agree, except I am not referring to the comfortable silence that occurs when people are together. I am referring to the silence that occurs when every other person in the room has their cell phone in their hand, texting, watching Youtube, or checking their Facebook page. I have witnessed two people texting each other, you say, so what s the big deal? , I then explain that they were sitting beside each other! How many times in an hour do you check your cell phone? According to research scientist Helen Lee Lin, writing in Scientific American, the report suggests that cell phones may serve as a reminder of the wider network to which we could connect, inhibiting our ability to connect with the people right next to us. • 28. Comparing Frankenstein And Trayvon Martin Society s perception of others starts first with appearance which brings about isolation and racism against others appearing abnormal. This has been a recurring problem in the world for several centuries because people wrongfully judge values on looks. In real life minorities are perceived as criminals and in Gulliver s Travels, Gulliver is immediately seen as a threat because of his physical advantage. The main characters in Frankenstein, Gulliver s Travels, and Trayvon Martin in What happened the night Trayvon Martin died were persecuted because of how they seemed or looked on the outside. In these works individuals are othered which led to them being emotionally and physically harmed. In Shelley s Frankenstein, the creature was othered to the point that he resorted to violence. When the creature first encounters human beings they react with disturbance and exclusion which leads to his isolation. • 31. The Pros And Cons Of Self Censorship In today s society, people no longer communicate with each other on a respectful level. Although everyone has their own opinion, this generation does not take other people s opinions into perspective. There are very few leaders who are setting examples for their peers. They are constantly bashing their objectors for not having the same opinions and ideas that they think are competent. This causes this generation to self censor themselves because they do not want to receive negative backlash on their opinions and ideas. Self censorship is exercising control over what one has to say and how he or she may act in order to avoid castigation (English Oxford Living Dictionaries). It also obstructs creativity and prevents individuals from forming their own opinions and ideas. Self censorship prevents this generation from exploring the depths of creativity and forces people to hold back opinions that may be bottled up on the inside. It can affect everyone. Adults often have business ideas that they think can impact our younger generation and that generation to come, but because of the fear of co workers disagreeing with them, they may contradict their original thought. This precludes their talents from advancing on to the next level of success (OxBow School). Development Of The Mammalian Central Nervous System Essay During normal development of the mammalian central nervous system (CNS), neural stem cells (NSC) give rise to neurons via process of neurogenesis (Kempermann et al., 2004; Zhao et al., 2008). Neurogenesis normally occurs in dentate gyrus (DG) region of the hippocampus and lateral ventricle of sub ventricular zone (SVZ) (Zhao et al., 2008). Hippocampal neurogenesis plays pivotal role in neurologic and psychiatric disorder like epilepsy, depression, schizophrenia and mood disorders (Antonova et al., 2004; Keller and Roberts, 2008; Lucassen et al., 2006; Zhao et al., 2008). Development of the nervous system is complex, and includes multistep dynamic processes such as proliferation, differentiation, migration, expansion of axons and dendrites, synapse formation, myelination and programmed cell death (Rice and Barone, 2000). These processes required the coordinated expression of cellular and molecular events in a spatial and temporal manner during the brain development (Rice and Barone, 2000; Rodier, 1994).
