Consumer s Influence On Consumer Behavior
In today s culture, consumers are very much in charge of their decisions in regards to purchasing.
Advancements in technology have not only allowed consumers the capability to research, price shop
and purchase products, but have also given businesses the ability to reach a targeted market based on
data collection and past purchase history. Given that consumers have the purchase power in today s
society, many businesses have implemented situational factors to influence a consumers buying
behavior. Consumers typically have a level of purchase involvement when making purchasing
decisions. Levels of involvement range from low to high. Level of involvement is often dependent on
the consumer s perceived importance or personal relevance of a ... Show more content on

Advertising for brand familiarity is done best through television campaigns and brand familiarity is
often gained through repetition of the advertisement. Marketers also focus on visual images that
associate a consumer with a particular product as these are easily remembered. Examples of this type
of branding include the McDonalds Golden Arches or the Target bulls eye (Procter, 2000, p. 144 169).
High levels of purchase involvement are related to those products that typically have a higher cost, are
bought infrequently and are reflective of the purchaser. In order to gain traction in this category,
marketers often promote the positive and beneficial attributes of the brand, promote the product
through advertising and have a heavy reliance on sale personnel endorsement. Examples of purchase
that have a high level purchase involvement include technology products and cars (Chavis, 2010,
Involvement Level and Effect). Situational factors are also used to sway consumers buying behaviors.
Examples of situational factors include lighting, smell and sound. Marketers must be cognizant of not
over stimulating the senses when using situational factors to influence buying behavior. Over
stimulation will result in fewer purchases, an obvious negative response for businesses. Lighting and
product placement is often used within stores to enhance products or attract customers. Window

Curriculum Evaluation
Curriculum Evaluation
For this assignment, I intend to evaluate the Level 2 Diploma in bricklaying as it is my own specialist
area. I will be discussing the theories and models of curriculum, influences on the design, evaluation
and quality assurance systems. I will also evaluate the level 2 Diploma and discuss proposals for
improvement. I currently teach at a HMP Moorland where I permanently deliver the bricklaying
diploma alongside my colleague.
When curriculum development is being considered, Vashist (2003:1) states that the development of
curriculum has been conditioned by certain influences. Firstly, the subject matter is an obvious
influence, then the course content and the influence of quantitative standards. Kelly (2004:2) ... Show

Such activities are embedded into the theory sessions and portfolios (unit 2002 in the bricklaying
Diploma), but emphasis and reinforcement in the workshop will help learners improve their mental
skills. Such activities in the classroom would include working with measurements, calculating areas
and adding and subtracting measurements. In the workshop, basic calculating of materials would be
required and using trigonometry and Pythagoras theorem to find angles and lengths. Correct
terminology will be emphasised so that learners will understand terminology and start to use it in their
specialist subject which would help learners if they need to communicate with building suppliers or
work colleagues. This is beyond the curriculum requirements and moves into the hidden curriculum as
the learners are learning through their experiences rather than the educational objectives.
The Diploma was introduced in September 2008 and replaced the ICA (Intermediate Construction
Award) and was developed by the CAA (Construction Awards Alliance). The CAA website states that
the benefits of the Level 2 Diploma are: * Apprentices and learners will be more skilled and
knowledgeable * Individuals will be able to move across various projects, contracts and employers *
There is a standard testing strategy for consistency with knowledge tests, practical assignments and
the GOLA (Global On Line Assessment) test.
The Diploma has been designed to meet Ofqual s new

Schlumberger Logistics Report
INTL 1410 | March 172011 | From: Rene Sierra AcevedoTo: Prof. David Pastirick | Written Report |
Niagara College
INTRODUCTION
This logistic report analyzes Schlumberger Ltd. performance as one of the leading oilfield services
provider. This report also outlines Schlumberger main activities, financial status, operations and
processes. It will also describe why this is an important company for a logistic class.
SUMMARY
The supply chain in oil and gas consists of operators (oil companies), main contractors, subcontractors
and suppliers. In this order, while governments and companies investigate alternative sources, Oil and
Gas companies are focused in finding new ways to develop and deploy technology to improve ...

Schlumberger has added value to its operations by offering availability in places where the oil services
are needed. They also are moving some of their sustainable R D, sourcing, manufacturing, testing, and
assembly to countries with possibly low cost of operations which coincidentally may also be where
the market for their products services are experiencing growth. Schlumberger s closest competitors are
Halliburton and Baker Hughes.
I remembered a former Colombian senator once said if these three companies vanished overnight, the
world s energy system would start to break down in a couple of days. His point of view was settled to
clarify how important these companies have become in the oil and gas sector and how strong they are
in the oil chain.
I also am absolutely convinced how well and fascinating it would be for someone to join one of these
companies as a team member. They represent the kind of companies that also offer a permanent
learning process in a friendly environment. Schlumberger is also noted in the petroleum industry for
its decentralized management style and the autonomy the company extended to its field engineers.
Weaknesses
Schlumberger has spread its service operations in a variety of ways. However, the company could be
falling in its core company activity. Some critics are actually focused in the operation the company has
in the geo seismic area. To attend this sector in 2003 the company bought the

Antomy of Fish and Amphibians Essay
Anatomy A way to identify a fish is by their body structure, they have fins and a backbone. The
anatomical adaptation of fins helps them survive and makes them and marine animal unique in that
they use them to maintain their position, move, steer, and stop. Most fish have scales and breathe
though gills. Most fish also have a mucus layer that helps them prevent infections. With in what we
consider fish, there are many that don t very much look like they are earth creatures. The strangest fish
species are found in deep ocean waters, such as the Pacific Barreleye, which is distinctive in that, its
head is a fluid filled transparent shield. Among other strange looking fish there are the Sheepshead and

An anatomical advantage of the reptile class is that their limbs have shifted to the bottom, compared to
amphibians, which are on their sides. The Texas Horned Lizard can shoot blood out of its eyes; it
certainly is one of the most interesting animals in the reptile class.
Birds differ from the previous three classes in their physical appearance, even though their
evolutionary line originates directly from the reptiles. From the out side they all look relatively
similar, they all have wings and feathers, their feet are similar, they all have hollow bones and special
respiratory and metabolic systems, and they have beaks. Even though they might seem little,
variations in their wings, feathers, feet, and beaks are what make each species of birds unique. Birds
feet are classified by how their toes positions and what purpose they serve, from just looking at the
birds feet it is possible to identify what kind of bird they are. For example, a duck s foot structure is an
anatomical advantage since it allows them to swim better. The most strange looking and interesting
bird species are Vulturine Guinea Fowl; Anhinga; Hood Mockingbird and Vampire Finch, which both
feed on blood; African Crown Eagle, which feeds on monkeys; and finally the Great Grey Shrike,
which impales its prey. Mammals are completely different from

Becoming A School Counselor Self Analysis
I believe I have become a stronger leader and been able to find more self confidence. I personally feel
a strong improvement for my very first Masters in Educational Counseling course to now. Reflecting
back, I was very timid and lacked the confidence of becoming a successful school counselor. Now,
through al the courses and experience, I have gained necessary skills to be a successful and confident
leader. In the beginning of the semester we were asked to think of the first time we felt we were a
leader, my first response was during high school when I was voted team captain of the volleyball
team, by my teammates. This was the first time I truly felt I had the confidence to lead a group
because others saw what I didn t see. Gaining more experience ... Show more content on

As previously motioned I come across as being shy during meetings so when I do get the courage to
speak up and vocalize change, it can be difficult for others to respect my perspective. These situations
tend to take a toll, which I loose the confidence in my knowledge and experience. While working with
staff I am starting to notice a disconnect with what school counselors are capable of doing and what
teachers think a school counselor does. It is not to say they do not ignore all my input, but at times,
they forget about the personal and social issues of the students. There have ben incidences where they
do not allow students to come talk to me because they feel it is a waste of time and they are leaving
the class because they do not want to do classwork. This is preventing me from doing my job and
being there for students, but it is also helping me to gain more self assurance because I need to
advocate for the students, to show I am confident with my counseling abilities and myself. Learning
how to manage situations with confidence is important to me because I am always going to encounter
situations, which I need stay strong and act with confidence. I need to be a strong advocate for
students and that starts with my own ability to be able to manage situations. When I was starting off as
an intern if a teacher told me I was doing something wrong and not doing my job correctly I would
second guess all the knowledge I learned throughout my courses. This was limiting deepening my
relationships with students. I did not have the confidence to stick to my

Advantages Of Ryanair
Ryanair s Competitive Advantage
Ryanair will be always known as a revolutionist of the Airline industry in Europe. Ryanair became
Europe s first low cost airline in the late 1990 s. It has continued to develop and has cemented its place
as Europe s most profitable. It has achieved this by develop new strategies that has given them a
competitive advantage over their rivals. Competitive advantage can be defined as strategies, skills,
knowledge, resources and competencies that differentiate a business from its rivals (Wang, 2009).

Inbound Logistics
Due to a uniform fleet, Ryanair have benefitted from low training costs of crew and pilots. The
internet ticket sales boom and online check in has improved efficiency. The Boeing discount when
buying new planes has meant further cost savings
Operations
Ryanair have remained committed to their low cost no frills service for European passengers. They
have limited crew on all flights and the development of technology means that access to information is
much easier. Ryanair is the biggest low cost carrier in Europe presently.
Outbound Logistics
Ryanair have outsourced some of its outbound logistics like baggage handling to smaller companies.
This helps in the efficacy of flights and gets flights turned around a lot faster. In 2014, Ryanair
delivered the best punctuality performance of all European airlines with 91% of flights arriving on

`` My Dream `` By Brittany Maynard
My dream is that every terminally ill American has access to the choice to die on their own terms with
dignity. Please take an active role to make this a reality (qtd Brittany Maynard Fund ). Brittany
Maynard Diaz, a 29 year old woman who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma and only given six
months to live, turned her tragedy into a legacy when she chose to die with dignity. She became an
advocate for the Compassion and Choices End of Life Consultation or EOLC program by sharing her
story and decision with everyone in America in an effort to help give everyone in her situation the
same options. She believed in dying with dignity for the same basic reasons that many others do;
constitutionally speaking, it is within everyone s individual rights, it is an established medical practice
used all over the world, and no one should be forced to suffer needlessly. After researching her
diagnosed form of cancer and discussing her options with her family, any type of treatment given
would only destroy the quality of life during the time she had left to live. What would you do?
Imagine going to the doctor after numerous, severe headaches. The doctor performs a CT scan that
reveals a rapidly growing brain tumor. The doctor breaks down the information, reveals that the tumor
is a rare form of cancer, and is inoperable. Unfortunately, the doctor also relays the life expectancy
with a cancer this rare and aggressive; a few months at best and those short months will become

Reinhold Niebuhr s Model Of Christian Ethics
Subject Area
This thesis proposal falls under the umbrella of theological ethics. Specifically, the role of
ecclesiology as a critical component of theological ethics.
Thesis Statement The foundation premises for Reinhold Niebuhr s ethics of Christian social
engagement can be improved by adding the ecclesiastical focus found in Dietrich Bonhoeffer s ethics
of Christian social engagement.
American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr offers a model of theological ethics grounded in anthropology,
Christology, and eschatology. These three theological components create the basis for Christian
realism, the crux of his theological ethics. However, nowhere in this approach does Niebuhr provide
space for ecclesiology. Essentially, his idea of the Church is collapsed into the schema of Christianity.
As he develops this model of ethics based in Christian realism, he fails to account for the appropriate
influence and power of the Church. Therefore, I believe his theological ethics lack force, improved
through the intentional inclusion of a vibrant and socially engaged ecclesiology.
Bonhoeffer s ethics of social engagement differ from Niebuhr s in that ecclesiology plays a more
formative role in establishing the foundational premises of ethics. Bonhoeffer would argue that the ...

In fact, his ethical model flourishes in a secular age of implicit cynicism. However, the mission of the
Church becomes muddied, unclear, and belittled in this model. A shallow ecclesiology of this sort fails
to see the Church s role in the ministry of reconciliation (2 Cor 5:19), realized in an ethic of social
engagement. By including Bonhoeffer as a dialogue partner, allowing Bonhoeffer to contribute to
Niebuhr s ethics, a new ethical synthesis is created. One where the Church s mission is not collapsed ,
but, instead, finds a new purpose in its mission for the public good, enacting its ministry of
reconciliation in the

When Martin tries to tell his dad about what s going on with the woman. Martin s father doesn t

the door, wheezing, staring directly at Martin. She had to be crazy. Why else would she stare at him
like that? This proves that the woman was stalking Martin because the story ended as the woman

The Second Most Important Man Towards Christianity
Question:
Analyse the contribution that Paul of Tarsus had on the development and expression of Christianity.
Paul of Tarsus or Saint Paul is considered by many Christians today to be the most important disciple
of Jesus, and beside this the second important found in the development of Christianity. Saint Paul had
a major impact on the spread of Christianity, contributing to the underlying unity of the religious
tradition by helping expand Jesus original teachings into a developed integrated belief system.

He became an advocate for the inclusion of the Gentiles among the true followers of Christianity.
Until Paul s challenge, Jewish Christians believed that non Jews had to convert to Judaism and follow
the law, which included restrictions and circumcision. Gentiles who worship in the synagogue but did
not become proselytes were called god fearers and were only second class citizens in the synagogue.
As the Gentiles did not follow kashruth, many Christian Jews refused to eat with Christian Gentiles,
believing them to be unclean and not acceptable. This had implications for church fellowship and for
the ritual celebration of the Lord s Supper. Paul challenged this belief, (Galatians 2: 11 14) most
strongly at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 CE. This lead to the decision by the early Christian leaders
to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of Nazareth and to call themselves
Christians.
Permitting freedom from the laws of kashruth and circumcision allowed Christianity to spread more
freely amongst the Gentiles and is why Paul is so significant today. (Christianity vs. Judaism
worksheet).
Paul s writings on social issues were just as influential on the life and beliefs of the Christian culture,
and are still considered part and parcel of the broader Christian doctrine by the more conservative
Christians.
Paul condemned sexual immorality; homosexuality in

The Causes For Immigrations During The Young Ages
This source analyses the causes for immigrations. Often people leave their native country due to
poverty, issues of security or simply because they are seeking a better life. This excerpt demonstrates
Pierre s struggle from the young ages. He lived in poverty, had to walk kilometres in order to go to
school and essentially is a real combatant as he managed to go to school, college and university even
if he was poor and his parents could not financially support him. Eventually, he will leave Congo and

An Effective Type Of Birth Control
According to a study done by CNN, as many as one in eight teens within the United States have taken
the virginity pledge (Tamkins, 2008). This means that they took the opportunity and are making a
written or verbal commitment and promising to refrain from sexual activities until marriage. But
officially, the virginity pledge states that Believing that true love waits, I make a commitment to God,
myself, my family, my friends, my future mate and my future children to be sexually abstinent from
this day until the day I enter a biblical marriage relationship (True Love Waits, n.d). True Love Waits

For the most part, typically this reason is an individual s religion and belief (Kim and Rector, 2009).
Signing a virginity pledge is a solemn vow for individuals with strong religious commitment but that
it has much less meaning for those with low religious commitment (Landor 2013). For individuals
with a high viewpoint on religion, having the approval of their higher up is everything. For them,
having sex is a sin, which is something that is not allowed, especially as a Christian. An individual
with these kinds of viewpoints are more likely to keep their pledge strictly because this is what they
believe; in the case of religion, virginity pledging can be an effective type of birth control (Bersamin,
2005).
But what happens when an individual decides to make the pledge, but isn t fully committed to their
church or religion? It is said that if the pledge is made privately for oneself rather than publicly, an
individual is more likely to keep their commitment. When someone strongly believes in something,
they will do everything in their power to keep that promise to their self. Another reason why someone
would make this promise is for the feeling of self worth or accomplishment. It is thought that God will
love you more and be so proud of you; this individual will also live a much happier marriage life with
someone you weren t meant to be with. Waiting until marriage also shows that the marriage will be
more successful compared to a marriage

Khafre Enthroned
Throughout the many historical periods of history, there always had been pieces of artwork that
depicted the rulers of the time. Khafre Enthroned(Fig 1) and Justinian as world conqueror(Fig 2) are
two examples of how they were represented during their time as leaders. Even though they are from
two different time periods, the former being Egyptian and the latter Byzantine, they are both
successful at displaying how artists and the people at their time period respectfully portrayed their
rulers.
Several stylistic characteristics of the Egyptian time period can be found on Khafre Enthroned. The
Egyptian statue Khafre Enthroned, or the seated statue of Khafre, is the artwork depicting one of
Egypt s earliest rulers. The medium used for the statue is diorite, a stone dark in shade and immensely

The sculpture was made in Dynasty 4, c. 2575 2525 BCE, Egypt, Fourth Dynasty and located in the

two stylized lions that form the throne. The lion was considered a royal symbol and a connection with
the sun. The combination of the animal and the head of the pharaoh was an icon that was frequently
used for a long period of time in the Egyptian history. (khanacademy) The lotus and papyrus plants

Khafre s body. As a divine ruler, Khafre is portrayed with a built body and flawless face, an added trait
regardless of his true age and appearance. In Egyptian standards, idealistic proportions were
considered suitable for Pharaohs as they were presented to be god like. Because of this principle, the
statue is not realistic in terms of Khafre s actual features.(Kleiner

Cowslips Warren, Frith Copse. In the front of the book it has a map which shows where the rabbits
have lived and traveled. The rabbits first lived at the Sandleford Warren; however one of the rabbits,

The first headed toward Enbrone Crossing. It was in fact the little river Enbrone, twelve to fifteen feet

immense, such a river as they had never imagined. (Adams30) In this story it is May. It s May, isn t it?

Icarus As A Mythical Creature Called Icarus
Part 3 8. Beatty had compared Montag to a mythical creature called Icarus. Icarus is a guy in Greek
Mythology that got curious and flew too close to the sun with his wax wings, this caused his wings to
melt and him falling straight to his death. Beatty had compared Montag to Icarus because both of the
characters were curious. They were both curious and got too close to their objects of curiosity, which
ultimately destroys them. They were both warned beforehand, and they both chose to ignore those
warnings and proceed on. For Montag, he got involved with books, and was about to be burned like
Icarus, however he escaped. Montag had his normal life ripped from him and thrown into another
world. 9. In the story, Montag had killed Beatty. While he did that, he realized that Beatty had wanted
to die. Beatty had wanted to die because he was miserable which is not how he normally acts. It has
been hinted in the story that Beatty may have possibly read books before and knows what is going on
with the society. Beatty had said that books were empty and are not worth to read it. This shows that
Beatty knows that the society he lives in was not as good as it seems, however he did not want to go
against the government, so he just does as he was told. This makes him miserable because he may not
like burning books that much, but burning books is his job and he has to do it. To die is sometimes the
quickest way out of all of your problems, however it is also the most cowardly. 10. It

Was The American Civil War Inevitable
Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other. Abraham
Lincoln was possibly the most intellectual and determined man in office that our world has ever seen.
With a driven passion for equality and success, it s no wonder that you could love him; or hate him.
Slavery was one of our country s biggest disagreements in our nation. Slavery is credited by most
historians to be the cause of the United States Civil War that took place over one hundred and fifty
years ago. North and South, Confederation and Union, and Johnny Reb and Billy Yank battled it out
for four grueling years. Was this war even fighting if it incurred so many deaths, especially the most
important man in our country? Unfortunately, the answer is yes because we went through many years
of compromise , slavery was a huge moral issue, and the economic differences the north and south
had. War was inevitable. The North and South were polar opposite when it came to the economy. The
South relied heavily on the production of a cash crop: cotton. Cotton was the biggest crop being
produced at the time next to some other notable ones such as tobacco and indigo. On the other hand,
the North was a more industrial flowing economy, producing cloth and textiles from intricate
machines. The nation was not flowing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Sociological Meltdown Research Paper
Single gender schools could lead to economic and sociological meltdown Although separating male

because, separation would cost a lot of money, a new building, new staff, new bus drivers, new
everything. Utilities would be the main cost increase. Bullying is much more common in boy only or
girl only schools. Social interaction is also very important in schools, although it can be distracting in
class, social interactions between male and female students are very important. The cost of moving

Analysis Of Roald Dahl s Dahl
I use to love reading Roald Dahl when I was a younger, I was surprised to find out that Roald Dahl
even wrote short stories for adults. Skin was one of those books for the more mature readers. I would
recommend this book for its writing style. The model! cried Drioli. Come on, Josie! He was in a bustle
of enthusiasm now arranging everything, like a child preparing for some exciting game. Where will
you have her? Where shall she stand? The way Roald Dahl writes allows you to feel the same
enthusiasm that Drioli experiences. Drioli is making the foolish mistake of getting a tattoo while he is

everything else including; properties, businesses, and jobs. The war was horrible, I believe that the

Taoism is a philosophy which also means a way of life. Lao Tzu started this, he lived a little before
Confucius, about 600 BC. Tao means the path or way . Lao Tzu worked as a a record keeper. He
believed that happiness was for people to just go with the flow , meaning to let things go about on
their own rather than forcing the situations. According to Confucius, each person should act with
virtue in all social matters; family, community, state, and kingdom, to ensure unity. Lao Tzu thought it
was extremely wrong for people to fight in wars. He was also extremely against a government making
up rules and regulations on how people should do things in their life. Taoism is against anything with
certain regulations, even a food diet.
Lao Tzu thinks people should make their own decisions in situations that they experience in life. To
follow Taoism is to understand who you are yourself and everything else will come naturally. By
doing nothing one could accomplish everything. Don t go against what you have been faced, instead
go through it and learn from it, and never force anything because by doing that, you are not doing
anything good for yourself. Another key point of Tzu s writing is: we need to be in touch with our real
selves. We spend a great deal of time worrying ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

An estate planning attorney is a lawyer who specializes in helping clients get their affairs in order.
This may be driven by a mental disability or to simplify the client s affairs in case they die. Estate

mitigate estate taxes, create living trusts and protect the client s assets from creditors after their death.
While it costs money to hire an estate planning attorney, these lawyers can help save thousands or
millions of dollars in the future.

A proactive approach to estate planning is key to saving you and your family money over the long run.
Estate plans are designed to protect assets in the event that something happens to you. From creating a
living trust to designating a guardian, an estate plan is the best way to protect your family. With an
estate plan, you can:
Lower Your Estate Taxes
One of the most obvious reasons to create an estate plan is to lower the taxes incurred by your
beneficiaries. A lawyer can help you use techniques like living trusts to avoid or reduce estate taxes.
As a result, your beneficiaries can inherit more of your estate without sending it in as taxes.
Skip the Costs of Probate Court
In some cases, your estate plan may help your property to skip the probate process entirely. Normally,
your entire property would go through probate court for months as it is distributed between your
beneficiaries. In addition to taking time, this process can be extremely expensive. There are ways to
avoid the costs of probate court, but you would have to make a good estate plan to do so.

Pride In The Count Of Monte Cristo
It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels Saint Augustine.

Battle Of Somme Essay
Artillery s Impact of the Battle of Somme The Royal British Army at the time of the Battle of Somme
was 256 years old, and they had plenty of success as an Army. The French Army was 471 years old,
and shared in their own success as a military. The success of the Battle of the Somme would lean
heavily on artillery support. The British had 1,500 artillery pieces ranging from light artillery 18
pounder guns, to heavy artillery 15 inch howitzers. The French brought an equal amount of artillery to
support in the success of the mission. Throughout the Great War the British had great success in using
artillery to shape the battlefield, setting the conditions for battle and would do so again in the Battle of

Free Market Economy
The United States is known to operate in a free market economy. In other words, the economy is based
solely on supply and demand with little to no government control. In reality, however, the United
States has various government regulations on our country s market. The amount of regulation that is
necessary is a continuing debate among politicians and economists to this day. Some would say that
the key to a successful market economy is to remove government restrictions in order to force
businesses to provide superior products and services at affordable prices. Yet, others assert that
government regulations are essential in protecting consumers, stemming from the assumption that
corporations are not always looking out for the public s interest. Of course, there are various
advantages and disadvantages associated with each level of regulation, however it is safe to assume
that there must be a balance between an unregulated free market and a regulated economy in order to
protect people and the environment and allow the economy to flourish. Advantages of a Free Market
Economy A free market is driven by individual innovation and the concept that hard work and
initiative will be rewarded with success. Because of the ingenuity factor, there is plenty of competition
in the market place. Therefore, the rivalry between companies provides the best possible product to
the customer at the best price. In addition, this gives consumers the ability to let their voices be heard,

Shaping Colonial America Essay
Many different things affected the shaping of colonial America in the new world. Factors such as
colonialism, geography, and religion affected the way North America was formed and dictated how
other people look at colonial America. Colonialism affected America s demographic and also the ease
of forming colonies in the new world. Geography also played a roll in shaping the identity of America.
Geography affected where people settled based on the layout of rivers, ocean, and waterways. People
also settled in places where they could grow crops. Geography also attracted colonists. Finally,
religion affected the forming of colonial America. People were driven from England because of
religion. Also, religion affected where people settled down. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Boston, which at that time was called Shawmut, was settled on a peninsula that jutted out into the bay.
People also settled along water for military reasons. Take for example, Jamestown, Virginia, which
was settled some 60 miles up the James River, on a peninsula. Here there was a good view up and
down the river, which made it easy to defend attacks by land or water. New Amsterdam, which is
present day New York, was another colony that settled on the waterfront for military reasons. New
Amsterdam settled on a island, which is present day Manhattan, with a good view in all directions.
This made it easy to defend. Even more colonies were settled along water in colonial America. In the
17th century, several European countries founded settlements along the St. Lawrence River. The
waterways were also a major reason why France and England originally came to North America. Two
dreams originally attracted France and England to North America; kingdoms rich with gold, and a
water route to Asia. All in all, rivers and oceans played a major role in the settling of America.
Without them, the United States would look much different today.
The ability to grow crops also helped shape the identity of America. The crops in America were able
to feed large numbers of people, which attracted colonists. (Eventually, these crops were introduced
worldwide, which was part of the reason the world s population quadrupled in the next three hundred
years.)

How The Utilities Industry Changed The Us And Gis Essay
12/12/2016
Utilities in the US and GIS
GIS is critical to the utilities industry in the US. It allows them to perform mundane tasks that they are
required to perform with new levels of ROI (return on investment), safety, and man hour efficiency. It
also allows them to save the taxpayer a substantial sum of money yearly, and also the ability to remain
profitable while billing for less. In this paper, I will first discuss some of the basic ways that the
utilities industry in the US is using GIS to achieving all of these things, then into each part of the
electrical utilities industry and then delve into some of the more technical items used by the industry
and their function within the industry as a whole. Geography, as defined in the Cambridge dictionary
is the study of features and systems of the earth s surface, including continents, mountains, seas,
weather, and plant life, and of the ways in which countries and people organize life within an area. (3)
Therefore, I think it is important to define the history of electricity to give perspective, and its physical
properties on a smaller scale to help understand larger concepts from a power engineering perspective.
Unfortunately, there is a lot of relevant information to cover before GIS is brought into fruition.
Electricity had always been in a rather elementary and simple form of static electricity, until people
discovered we could harness its properties to conduct work, light spaces and various other uses.

Montessori Method Essay
Montessori Method is a view of how children learn and develop, which Dr. Montessori translated into
a systematic method of education based on her observations and scientific study. It is unique in that it
has withstood the test of time and transcended boundaries and boarders. It has been used effectively
with all children including children with learning differences, physically handicapped and the gifted in
different countries around the world. There are 45,000 Montessori schools worldwide. All high fidelity
Montessori programs use the same materials and teaching strategies.
I am a Montessori Guide. Beliefs About Teaching and Learning
Education in not what the teacher gives; education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by
the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences upon the
environment. (Montessori, Education for a New World, p.3)
Maria Montessori felt the teacher was crucial to the development of children. However, she saw the
teacher s role as being very different than it is in traditional education. According to Montessori, the
teacher s main goal is to light the flame of intelligence (Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p.266) in
the student. The teacher is to be a guide, an inspiration and once the flame is lit, to disappear into the
environment. The focus in a Montessori classroom is on children learning, not on teachers teaching.
To that end, my primary role as a Montessori teacher, is that of an observer. Through daily observation
and documentation of students progress, I determine when and if a child needs further instruction
and/or support in any given subject. Observation allows me to determine when a child is ready for
new challenges and to scaffold the child from one activity and level to the next. I am observing to see
the true nature of the children, how they interact with people and the environment, what drives each
one, the children s strengths and weaknesses to determine how to nurture each child s spirit.
At the same time, I am observing the classroom environment. I am observing that the materials meet
the needs and interests of the children. Which activities and materials get most attention? Which
activities and

Response To Peter Singer
At any given moment, there are people around the world suffering and dying due to severe poverty.
According to Peter Singer, there is much more that we can do to help create a better life for these
people. He makes the obvious statement, in which most people agree with, that suffering and death
due to poverty are very bad. His second idea is that if we are able to prevent that from happening
without sacrificing too much for ourselves, we should. Essentially, we should prevent a bad thing from
happening if it is in our power to do so without causing harm to ourselves in any way. An example of
this that Singer points out is, if I am walking past a shallow pond and see a child drowning in it, I
ought to wade in and pull the child out. This will mean getting my clothes muddy, but this is
insignificant, while ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two of the objections are the blind and kidney examples. If a doctor were to come up to a perfectly
healthy person and tell them that he or she needs to give one eye to a blind person so they can see,
most often, they would immediately say no. The giver would be left with only one eye to see, while
the receiver would be gifted with one eye to see. It seems to be a negative outcome for the person
giving the eye and a positive outcome for the one receiving it. The same goes for the kidney, if
someone is asked to donate a kidney to a complete stranger, they would say no in this situation as
well. They do not believe they should be expected to give a kidney to a random stranger because it
only leaves them with one healthy kidney for themselves, but it also saves the receiver from possible
death. In both situations, it seems as though they are sacrificing too much of his or her self, which
goes against Singer s second premise of preventing something bad from happening without sacrificing
too much. Depending how we look at it, though, we are not necessarily sacrificing too much in those

How Does Depression Affect Emily Dickinson s Poetry
Throughout time we have seen many plenty of geniuses who suffered from mental conditions,
especially depression. Some examples include Beethoven, Edgar Allan Poe, and Van Gogh. Another is
Emily Dickinson, undoubtedly one of the most influential poets in American history. Her emotional
poetry with its unconventional style changed poetry forever. However, it seems such genius did not
come without a price. Biographical and physiatrist evidence, as well as subtleties in her poetry, show
that she was mentally unstable. It is generally thought that she suffered depression, severe anxiety,
agoraphobia, or some combination of the three at different times. Perhaps one of the most important
perspectives to examine Dickinson from is that of Thomas Wentworth Higginson. Higginson, a
prominent figure in literature at the time, received his first letter from Dickinson on April 16, 1862.

Higginson picked up on her mental state. He talks about how, with some prodding, she began talking

Institutionalization Of Terrorism
Terrorism has existed for many years and was known to have begun as early as the first century when
a group of Jews who wanted to overthrow the Roman leader and did so by committing acts of murder.
As time and society evolved terrorism became even more widespread, progressing throughout the

into the 21st century during a time that terrorism is at an all time high. Given the increased coverage

Terrorism is prevalent throughout many countries all over the world with countless extremist groups
seeking the somewhat the same political or religious control. Terrorism became more mainstream
following events such as the bombing of The World Trade Center in 1993. Numerous people knew
that terrorism existed but many never really experienced or witnessed it first hand. Entire nations
change their approach to national security, intelligence, and law enforcement depending on the way
terrorism is defined, a process evidenced by recent changes in American defense and law enforcement
policy (White, p. 5). As certain terrorist incidents occurred they were lessons learned by the United
States as well as other countries who were victims. Terrorism has not true color or victim for the
missions and attacks committed are to harm innocent individuals in order to intimidate a nation.
Domestic and International terrorism are both profound styles of terrorism. Domestic terrorism
focuses more so on acts of terrorism committed by inhabitants of their identifiable country whereas
International terrorism is compelled by members of different countries against citizens of another
country. Several types of terrorism include Narcoterrorism which is, the use of extreme force and
violence by producers and distributors against a government or population, intended to coerce that
body to modify its behavior in their favor. (Dyson, p. 31). Another sort of terrorism is Religious

Introduction:
Electronic hearing aids have undergone recent technological changes.(Dillon, 2001; Valente,
2002a).Digital technology has brought to the hearing aid industry is that of digital signal processing
features such as more number of channel and band, multi memory HA(Chung, 2004a, 2004b). These
features can offer advantages in many difficult listening situations, but the scientific evidence that they
produce a significant increase in the satisfaction of hearing aid users is still fairly weak (Wong et
al2003). It is also clear that modern hearing aids and fitting rationales do not adequately address some
of the most fundamental requirements of hearing aid users. Kochkin (2002)reports that 83% of HA
users would like to hear more soft sounds, and 81% find loud sounds uncomfortable. As increase in
number channels and band costmore money. Most modern hearing aid manufacturers offer products at

Essay on Computer Unit 1 assignment
Kayja Billups Professor Davidoff CGS 1060C 6 January 2015 1. What is the difference between a
software application and an operating system? A computers operating system (OS) is the core of the
computer and is more than just software. The OS controls the computer s memory and processes as
well as its hardware and software. It is the brain of the computer. Software applications on the other
hand perform a certain task. Ex. Google Chrome provides internet and Adobe allows PDF files to be
read (among other things). The OS is what makes all of these applications work successfully and
accomplish whatever the application is designed to accomplish. 2. Describe a use for a software ...

5. Why are software updates so important? Be sure to include security fixes, bugs, adaptation to new
hardware availability and other plugin options. Updating your software is crucial to the health of
computer. Software updates provide fixes for any holes in your security as well as general bug fixes
for your software to make it run more smoothly. Ex. Screen glitches, the OS being slow or lagging,
etc. Sometimes when new hardware comes out an update to your OS and other software will be
required in order to use the new hardware. Updates specific to your security software provide
protection against new malware that has been found. 6. Give an example of a typical software update
that you perform or that your computer provides for you. Be detailed in what software is being
updated and whether it is automatic or if you are required to provide a disk or file. Everytime Adobe
Acrobat releases an update my computer pops up with a nessage asking if I want to update it now or
later. It also gives me the option to check a box for automatic updates (updating without asking my
permission). I am not required to provide a disk or file. 7. Attach 2 screenshots of a Windows screen,
showing menus, toolbars, Windows, Folders, sub folders, directories, subdirectories, and views.
Change the view between the two screenshots. You can use PrintScreen (see the PrtSc key on your

Snowoe Mountain Research Paper
In my opinion, nothing can beat carving down the mountain on a snowboard. Just being able to glide
down the mountain is simply amazing to me, and that is why I love it so much. My family has a condo
at Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia, and I try to make it up there just about every weekend in the
winter time. Other than resorts way up north in states like Vermont, Snowshoe is one of the best in the
east coast. Although I do believe that Snowshoe is great, if you haven t been out west to ski, then you
haven t really been skiing. For years I have just gotten to hear stories of how awesome the mountains
and snow were in the west. I never imagined that I would have the opportunity to go out and see it for
myself until my friend invited me Breckenridge, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Anyone who knows how good a mountain s conditions could get after just a few inches can only
imagine what the two feet was like. The thing that I thought was best out there was being able to go
wherever. They had trails that were through the woods, and through unmarked terrain. My friend and I
got in some snow that was about three feet deep. We eventually got stuck in it and had to try our best
to crawl out of the deep snow. To me that was a good problem to have. What I thought was so crazy
was how quick the lines were. Since Snowshoe is one of the best around there are so many people and
the lines can get very long, but there is so much competition out west everyone goes to different
places and the lines were not bad at all. Going out west is something that everyone who loves to ski
should do in their lifetime. Not even just for the skiing but for the experience of being out there. Being
able to see more snow than you have ever seen, looking up at the mountains, and then staring down it
as you start to descend down thirteen thousand feet of greatness. This year for winter break I went out
to Utah and had just as great of a time. I am lucky enough to have had the experience of being out
there and it is something that I believe everyone deserves to have the chance to do as

Metabolic Syndrome Essay
Liver is known as the metabolic port of entry for any endobiotic and xenobiotic substance. The
anabolism and catabolism of most of the nutrients are in major performed by the liver. Carbohydrate,
protein and fat metabolism by the liver is of significance as the anomalies in metabolism of these
nutrients may introduce several types of metabolic syndromes. The protective effects of aqueous green
tea extract have been shown on hyperglycaemia, hyperlipidaemia and liver dysfunction in diabetic and
obese rat models [74]. Different nutrients combinations were tested in a long term feeding in
experimental mouse model. Regional and continental food habit and practices are very much different.

Compared to diabetic control rats, total antioxidant levels were significantly increased in GTE
supplemented rats. Inversely, malondialdehyde levels and AT(1) receptor were significantly lower in
the GTE supplemented diabetic group [77]. Catechin and its derivatives in green tea are shown to be
therapeutically very effective.
Catechin has been shown to modulate the hepatic microsomal phospholipase A2 activities. It can
change the hepatic phospholipid species in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats [78]. On the other hand
epigallocatechin gallate, a constituent of green tea, represses the hepatic glucose production. EGCG
also mimics insulin by increasing phosphoinositide 3 kinase, mitogen activated protein kinase.
Furthermore, EGCG has been shown to regulate genes that encode gluconeogenic enzymes and
protein tyrosine phosphorylation by modulating the redox state of the cell. These finding suggest that
EGCG, or derivatives can perform as antidiabetic agent [79]. Green tea has also been shown in vivo to
down regulate the hepatic gluconeogenic gene expressions of enzymes. The results of this study
support the idea that green tea intake may be favorable in the prevention of diabetes mellitus [80].
Diabetes is multi causal disease. Even the onset of the disease is caused by a single factor but its
progression and pathogenesis may be attributed by a number of confounding factors. So, in some

The Federal Rules Of Civil Procedure Essay
I. FOLLOWING RULE 56 OF THE FEDERAL RULES OF CIVIL PROCEDURE, THIS COURT

Analysis Of Matthew 22 s The Kingdom Of Heaven
Why do you suppose Jesus mentions what this man was wearing? Listen to me, everything that Jesus
says and does in the New Testament is very important! Whatever the garment is that this man has on is
a social faux pas to the celebration that he has been invited to. The rest of the parable is pretty
straightforward as Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of heaven is like... Remember
at the beginning of the parable, we are told that the first group that was invited to the wedding, refused
to attend. When the King heard about it, he was furious, and he sent out his armies, destroyed those
murderers, and burned up their city, Matthew 22:7 8 NKJV. The King then declared an open invitation
to everyone to attend the marriage of his son.
The parable in Matthew 22 is a profound teaching. It shows that the invitation to salvation is the same
as receiving an invitation to the wedding of the Messiah. That is why the garment that the one man
had on was such an irritation to the King. It was not so much what the man was wearing per se. It was
a heart issue! The apostle John tells us the significance of wedding garments in Revelation 19. And I
heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of
mighty thunderings saying: Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! Let us be glad and rejoice
and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready. And
to her it was granted to be

Aristotle And Jesus Relationship Essay
If you were to ask Jesus Christ whether he has friends, he would most likely say of course I do, I am
certainly friends with all of God s children. However, after reading Aristotle, the question becomes, If
Jesus has friends, of which sort are they? . Aristotle defines friendship as, Any association of people
who spend time and do things together, share in pains and pleasure, and wish for each other s good,
(Nicomachean Ethics 1166a 1 10). Addressing each aspect of this definition, with the twelve disciples
in mind, the reader concludes that they certainly spend time together, share in pains and pleasure, but
the sticking point is whether they wish for each other s good. The answer to that question determines
if in fact Jesus has friends what sort they are. There is a multitude of evidence presented in the Gospel
of Mark that seems to indicate that Jesus is incapable of having friends. First, it is nearly impossible to
consider the relationship between Jesus and the people he heals as friendship. Furthermore, the people
that he heals often ignore his directives and, after healing somebody Jesus commanded them not to tell
anyone. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it, (Mark 7 36). It is difficult for a
friendship to exist between a doctor and patient, the difficulties would be further compounded if the
doctor gave the patient directions which were brazenly ignored. After eliminating the possibility that
Jesus is friends with the people he

Reflection Of Popular Culture
American Popular Culture music, movie, painting, and clothing is seemingly a superficial topic, but is
actually the reflection of the social values and even political inclination that prevailed in the society of
that era. From the pious and strict Puritan colonial culture in 1600 s to the hippies and Rock n Roll in
1970s, American culture did go through massive changes along with the transformations in racial and
gender equality, social ideals, politics, and America s role in the world. In the project, our group
divided American history into roughly three periods of time, in each of which we researched about the
content of popular culture as well as analyzed the causes of the these cultural phenomenon and their
development. Lilian is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning, in order to reasonably divide the whole history into three periods, we logged into
Library Genesis and downloaded papers including A History of Popular Culture: More of Everything,
Faster and Brighter and Prosthetic memory: The transformation of American remembrance in the age
of mass culture . With these materials and our background knowledge of U.S. history, we roughly
chose two turning points: Civil War, Great Depression. Our criteria for dividing the periods was that
each period should have unique and distinguished characteristics, and the popular culture in the era
was a reflection of politics, economics, religion, or America s role in the world. Civil War is not only
the turning point for African Americans, but also a signpost for human rights in America. Prior to Civil
War, main stream culture came from whites. After Civil War, African Americans started to be more
involved in the society, stimulated more racial integration, and added to the culture diversity in U.S..
Prior to Great Depression, U.S. witnessed financial crisis for several times. After Great Depression,
U.S. enjoyed economic prosperity and its role gradually became important

committed. He started 7 charities which meant he was a very generous man. His farther was a watch

So as the New Poor Law states people were extremely cruel and discriminated the undeserving poor
they said it was god who decided if you were poor or not even though the church did try to help. For
example the hymn all things bright and beautiful, includes the lines The rich man at his castle, the
poor man at his gate, God made them high or lowly, and ordered their estate . However most people
felt pity on the deserving poor an example of this was rich women that used to make themselves look
generous, in front of their rich women friends, these were the types of people that Andrew Reid was
particularly interested in and that was because they were the people that donated the most money.
Andrew Reid put together many Asylum meetings where he would do speeches to rich people and
make them feel for the poor. An example of his speeches was one he done on the 3rd of July, 1927 at
the London Tavern Let it be remembered that the case is for the infant orphan for which charity has a
yet done nothing; yet this case embraces a period of life in which innocence, helplessness and misery
are strangely commingled and most touchingly call for our aid . This speech was truly inspirational to
many people and was used just before the people choose who they wanted to vote for using the voting
system (explained in paragraph 6). Also he was respected for the work that he did. Andrew

Pittsburgh Pennsylvania
The Big Little City, also commonly know as the city of Pittsburgh, is one of the largest cites in the
state of Pennsylvania. With over 144 square kilometers of land area, and approximately seven square
kilometers of surface water (Pittsburgh Pennsylvania), the city of Pittsburgh is large by anyone s
standard. The city, which is located in western Pennsylvania, has a very diverse geography which sets
it apart from many other cities in the United States. Pittsburgh and its suburbs are known for steep
hillsides covered with buildings, streets which have steps for sidewalks, and sidewalks which are

Shortly after the revolutionary war, the small town of Pittsborough, then renamed Pittsburgh began to
develop into a very important center, specializing in trading and industry. The convenience of natural
resources and technological advancement has ranked Pittsburgh as one of the leading industrial cities
in the United States in the past. Historically, the city of Pittsburgh has created numerous
manufacturing plants responsible for producing steel, iron, and other products for the U.S. economy
that still exist today. The Encyclopedia Britannica explains Pittsburgh s economic might during this
period:
Pittsburgh s strategic location and wealth of natural resources spurred its commercial and industrial
growth in the 19th century. A blast furnace, erected by George Anschutz in 1792, was the forerunner
of the iron and steel industry that for more than a century was the city s economic mainstay; by 1850 it
was known as the Iron City. The Pennsylvania Canal and the Portage Railroad, both completed in
1834, opened vital markets for trade and shipping. After the American Civil War, great numbers of
European immigrants swelled Pittsburgh s population, and industrial magnates such as Andrew
Carnegie, Henry Clay Frick, and Thomas Mellon built their steel empires there. The city became the
focus of historic friction between labor and management, and the American Federation of Labor was
born there in 1881.
Pittsburgh s industrial past has

  • 2. Consumer s Influence On Consumer Behavior In today s culture, consumers are very much in charge of their decisions in regards to purchasing. Advancements in technology have not only allowed consumers the capability to research, price shop and purchase products, but have also given businesses the ability to reach a targeted market based on data collection and past purchase history. Given that consumers have the purchase power in today s society, many businesses have implemented situational factors to influence a consumers buying behavior. Consumers typically have a level of purchase involvement when making purchasing decisions. Levels of involvement range from low to high. Level of involvement is often dependent on the consumer s perceived importance or personal relevance of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Advertising for brand familiarity is done best through television campaigns and brand familiarity is often gained through repetition of the advertisement. Marketers also focus on visual images that associate a consumer with a particular product as these are easily remembered. Examples of this type of branding include the McDonalds Golden Arches or the Target bulls eye (Procter, 2000, p. 144 169). High levels of purchase involvement are related to those products that typically have a higher cost, are bought infrequently and are reflective of the purchaser. In order to gain traction in this category, marketers often promote the positive and beneficial attributes of the brand, promote the product through advertising and have a heavy reliance on sale personnel endorsement. Examples of purchase that have a high level purchase involvement include technology products and cars (Chavis, 2010, Involvement Level and Effect). Situational factors are also used to sway consumers buying behaviors. Examples of situational factors include lighting, smell and sound. Marketers must be cognizant of not over stimulating the senses when using situational factors to influence buying behavior. Over stimulation will result in fewer purchases, an obvious negative response for businesses. Lighting and product placement is often used within stores to enhance products or attract customers. • 3. Curriculum Evaluation Curriculum Evaluation For this assignment, I intend to evaluate the Level 2 Diploma in bricklaying as it is my own specialist area. I will be discussing the theories and models of curriculum, influences on the design, evaluation and quality assurance systems. I will also evaluate the level 2 Diploma and discuss proposals for improvement. I currently teach at a HMP Moorland where I permanently deliver the bricklaying diploma alongside my colleague. When curriculum development is being considered, Vashist (2003:1) states that the development of curriculum has been conditioned by certain influences. Firstly, the subject matter is an obvious influence, then the course content and the influence of quantitative standards. Kelly (2004:2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such activities are embedded into the theory sessions and portfolios (unit 2002 in the bricklaying Diploma), but emphasis and reinforcement in the workshop will help learners improve their mental skills. Such activities in the classroom would include working with measurements, calculating areas and adding and subtracting measurements. In the workshop, basic calculating of materials would be required and using trigonometry and Pythagoras theorem to find angles and lengths. Correct terminology will be emphasised so that learners will understand terminology and start to use it in their specialist subject which would help learners if they need to communicate with building suppliers or work colleagues. This is beyond the curriculum requirements and moves into the hidden curriculum as the learners are learning through their experiences rather than the educational objectives. The Diploma was introduced in September 2008 and replaced the ICA (Intermediate Construction Award) and was developed by the CAA (Construction Awards Alliance). The CAA website states that the benefits of the Level 2 Diploma are: * Apprentices and learners will be more skilled and knowledgeable * Individuals will be able to move across various projects, contracts and employers * There is a standard testing strategy for consistency with knowledge tests, practical assignments and the GOLA (Global On Line Assessment) test. Schlumberger Logistics Report INTL 1410 | March 172011 | From: Rene Sierra AcevedoTo: Prof. David Pastirick | Written Report | Niagara College INTRODUCTION This logistic report analyzes Schlumberger Ltd. performance as one of the leading oilfield services provider. This report also outlines Schlumberger main activities, financial status, operations and processes. It will also describe why this is an important company for a logistic class. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Schlumberger has added value to its operations by offering availability in places where the oil services are needed. They also are moving some of their sustainable R D, sourcing, manufacturing, testing, and assembly to countries with possibly low cost of operations which coincidentally may also be where the market for their products services are experiencing growth. Schlumberger s closest competitors are Halliburton and Baker Hughes. I remembered a former Colombian senator once said if these three companies vanished overnight, the world s energy system would start to break down in a couple of days. His point of view was settled to clarify how important these companies have become in the oil and gas sector and how strong they are in the oil chain. I also am absolutely convinced how well and fascinating it would be for someone to join one of these companies as a team member. They represent the kind of companies that also offer a permanent learning process in a friendly environment. Schlumberger is also noted in the petroleum industry for its decentralized management style and the autonomy the company extended to its field engineers. Weaknesses Schlumberger has spread its service operations in a variety of ways. However, the company could be falling in its core company activity. Some critics are actually focused in the operation the company has in the geo seismic area. To attend this sector in 2003 the company bought the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most fish have scales and breathe though gills. Most fish also have a mucus layer that helps them prevent infections. The Texas Horned Lizard can shoot blood out of its eyes; it certainly is one of the most interesting animals in the reptile class. Birds differ from the previous three classes in their physical appearance, even though their evolutionary line originates directly from the reptiles. From the out side they all look relatively similar, they all have wings and feathers, their feet are similar, they all have hollow bones and special respiratory and metabolic systems, and they have beaks. Even though they might seem little, variations in their wings, feathers, feet, and beaks are what make each species of birds unique. Birds feet are classified by how their toes positions and what purpose they serve, from just looking at the birds feet it is possible to identify what kind of bird they are. For example, a duck s foot structure is an anatomical advantage since it allows them to swim better. I personally feel a strong improvement for my very first Masters in Educational Counseling course to now. Reflecting back, I was very timid and lacked the confidence of becoming a successful school counselor. Now, through al the courses and experience, I have gained necessary skills to be a successful and confident leader. In the beginning of the semester we were asked to think of the first time we felt we were a leader, my first response was during high school when I was voted team captain of the volleyball team, by my teammates. As previously motioned I come across as being shy during meetings so when I do get the courage to speak up and vocalize change, it can be difficult for others to respect my perspective. These situations tend to take a toll, which I loose the confidence in my knowledge and experience. While working with staff I am starting to notice a disconnect with what school counselors are capable of doing and what teachers think a school counselor does. It is not to say they do not ignore all my input, but at times, they forget about the personal and social issues of the students. There have ben incidences where they do not allow students to come talk to me because they feel it is a waste of time and they are leaving the class because they do not want to do classwork. This is preventing me from doing my job and being there for students, but it is also helping me to gain more self assurance because I need to advocate for the students, to show I am confident with my counseling abilities and myself. Learning how to manage situations with confidence is important to me because I am always going to encounter situations, which I need stay strong and act with confidence. I need to be a strong advocate for students and that starts with my own ability to be able to manage situations. • 8. `` My Dream `` By Brittany Maynard My dream is that every terminally ill American has access to the choice to die on their own terms with dignity. Please take an active role to make this a reality (qtd Brittany Maynard Fund ). Brittany Maynard Diaz, a 29 year old woman who was diagnosed with Glioblastoma and only given six months to live, turned her tragedy into a legacy when she chose to die with dignity. She became an advocate for the Compassion and Choices End of Life Consultation or EOLC program by sharing her story and decision with everyone in America in an effort to help give everyone in her situation the same options. She believed in dying with dignity for the same basic reasons that many others do; constitutionally speaking, it is within everyone s individual rights, it is an established medical practice used all over the world, and no one should be forced to suffer needlessly. After researching her diagnosed form of cancer and discussing her options with her family, any type of treatment given would only destroy the quality of life during the time she had left to live. What would you do? Imagine going to the doctor after numerous, severe headaches. The doctor performs a CT scan that reveals a rapidly growing brain tumor. The doctor breaks down the information, reveals that the tumor is a rare form of cancer, and is inoperable. Unfortunately, the doctor also relays the life expectancy with a cancer this rare and aggressive; a few months at best and those short months will become increasingly ... • 9. Reinhold Niebuhr s Model Of Christian Ethics Subject Area This thesis proposal falls under the umbrella of theological ethics. Specifically, the role of ecclesiology as a critical component of theological ethics. Thesis Statement The foundation premises for Reinhold Niebuhr s ethics of Christian social engagement can be improved by adding the ecclesiastical focus found in Dietrich Bonhoeffer s ethics of Christian social engagement. American theologian Reinhold Niebuhr offers a model of theological ethics grounded in anthropology, Christology, and eschatology. These three theological components create the basis for Christian realism, the crux of his theological ethics. However, nowhere in this approach does Niebuhr provide space for ecclesiology. Essentially, his idea of the Church is collapsed into the schema of Christianity. As he develops this model of ethics based in Christian realism, he fails to account for the appropriate influence and power of the Church. Therefore, I believe his theological ethics lack force, improved through the intentional inclusion of a vibrant and socially engaged ecclesiology. Bonhoeffer s ethics of social engagement differ from Niebuhr s in that ecclesiology plays a more formative role in establishing the foundational premises of ethics. Bonhoeffer would argue that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In fact, his ethical model flourishes in a secular age of implicit cynicism. By including Bonhoeffer as a dialogue partner, allowing Bonhoeffer to contribute to Niebuhr s ethics, a new ethical synthesis is created. He became an advocate for the inclusion of the Gentiles among the true followers of Christianity. Until Paul s challenge, Jewish Christians believed that non Jews had to convert to Judaism and follow the law, which included restrictions and circumcision. Gentiles who worship in the synagogue but did not become proselytes were called god fearers and were only second class citizens in the synagogue. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Circumcision_controversy_in_early_Christianity) As the Gentiles did not follow kashruth, many Christian Jews refused to eat with Christian Gentiles, believing them to be unclean and not acceptable. This had implications for church fellowship and for the ritual celebration of the Lord s Supper. Paul challenged this belief, (Galatians 2: 11 14) most strongly at the Council of Jerusalem in 50 CE. This lead to the decision by the early Christian leaders to enable Gentiles as well as Jews to be followers of Jesus of Nazareth and to call themselves Christians. Permitting freedom from the laws of kashruth and circumcision allowed Christianity to spread more freely amongst the Gentiles and is why Paul is so significant today. Signing a virginity pledge is a solemn vow for individuals with strong religious commitment but that it has much less meaning for those with low religious commitment (Landor 2013). For individuals with a high viewpoint on religion, having the approval of their higher up is everything. For them, having sex is a sin, which is something that is not allowed, especially as a Christian. An individual with these kinds of viewpoints are more likely to keep their pledge strictly because this is what they believe; in the case of religion, virginity pledging can be an effective type of birth control (Bersamin, 2005). But what happens when an individual decides to make the pledge, but isn t fully committed to their church or religion? It is said that if the pledge is made privately for oneself rather than publicly, an individual is more likely to keep their commitment. When someone strongly believes in something, they will do everything in their power to keep that promise to their self. Another reason why someone would make this promise is for the feeling of self worth or accomplishment. It is thought that God will love you more and be so proud of you; this individual will also live a much happier marriage life with someone you weren t meant to be with. Khafre Enthroned(Fig 1) and Justinian as world conqueror(Fig 2) are two examples of how they were represented during their time as leaders. Even though they are from two different time periods, the former being Egyptian and the latter Byzantine, they are both successful at displaying how artists and the people at their time period respectfully portrayed their rulers. Several stylistic characteristics of the Egyptian time period can be found on Khafre Enthroned. Beatty had compared Montag to Icarus because both of the characters were curious. They were both curious and got too close to their objects of curiosity, which ultimately destroys them. They were both warned beforehand, and they both chose to ignore those warnings and proceed on. For Montag, he got involved with books, and was about to be burned like Icarus, however he escaped. Montag had his normal life ripped from him and thrown into another world. 9. In the story, Montag had killed Beatty. While he did that, he realized that Beatty had wanted to die. Beatty had wanted to die because he was miserable which is not how he normally acts. It has been hinted in the story that Beatty may have possibly read books before and knows what is going on with the society. Beatty had said that books were empty and are not worth to read it. With a driven passion for equality and success, it s no wonder that you could love him; or hate him. Slavery was one of our country s biggest disagreements in our nation. Slavery is credited by most historians to be the cause of the United States Civil War that took place over one hundred and fifty years ago. North and South, Confederation and Union, and Johnny Reb and Billy Yank battled it out for four grueling years. It allows them to perform mundane tasks that they are required to perform with new levels of ROI (return on investment), safety, and man hour efficiency. It also allows them to save the taxpayer a substantial sum of money yearly, and also the ability to remain profitable while billing for less. In this paper, I will first discuss some of the basic ways that the utilities industry in the US is using GIS to achieving all of these things, then into each part of the electrical utilities industry and then delve into some of the more technical items used by the industry and their function within the industry as a whole. Geography, as defined in the Cambridge dictionary is the study of features and systems of the earth s surface, including continents, mountains, seas, weather, and plant life, and of the ways in which countries and people organize life within an area. It is unique in that it has withstood the test of time and transcended boundaries and boarders. It has been used effectively with all children including children with learning differences, physically handicapped and the gifted in different countries around the world. There are 45,000 Montessori schools worldwide. All high fidelity Montessori programs use the same materials and teaching strategies. I am a Montessori Guide. Beliefs About Teaching and Learning Education in not what the teacher gives; education is a natural process spontaneously carried out by the human individual, and is acquired not by listening to words, but by experiences upon the environment. (Montessori, Education for a New World, p.3) Maria Montessori felt the teacher was crucial to the development of children. However, she saw the teacher s role as being very different than it is in traditional education. According to Montessori, the teacher s main goal is to light the flame of intelligence (Montessori, The Absorbent Mind, p.266) in the student. The teacher is to be a guide, an inspiration and once the flame is lit, to disappear into the environment. The focus in a Montessori classroom is on children learning, not on teachers teaching. To that end, my primary role as a Montessori teacher, is that of an observer. Through daily observation and documentation of students progress, I determine when and if a child needs further instruction and/or support in any given subject. Observation allows me to determine when a child is ready for new challenges and to scaffold the child from one activity and level to the next. I am observing to see the true nature of the children, how they interact with people and the environment, what drives each one, the children s strengths and weaknesses to determine how to nurture each child s spirit. Compared to diabetic control rats, total antioxidant levels were significantly increased in GTE supplemented rats. Inversely, malondialdehyde levels and AT(1) receptor were significantly lower in the GTE supplemented diabetic group [77]. It can change the hepatic phospholipid species in streptozotocin induced diabetic rats [78]. On the other hand epigallocatechin gallate, a constituent of green tea, represses the hepatic glucose production. EGCG also mimics insulin by increasing phosphoinositide 3 kinase, mitogen activated protein kinase. Furthermore, EGCG has been shown to regulate genes that encode gluconeogenic enzymes and protein tyrosine phosphorylation by modulating the redox state of the cell. These finding suggest that EGCG, or derivatives can perform as antidiabetic agent [79]. Green tea has also been shown in vivo to down regulate the hepatic gluconeogenic gene expressions of enzymes. The results of this study support the idea that green tea intake may be favorable in the prevention of diabetes mellitus [80]. Diabetes is multi causal disease. Listen to me, everything that Jesus says and does in the New Testament is very important! Whatever the garment is that this man has on is a social faux pas to the celebration that he has been invited to. The rest of the parable is pretty straightforward as Jesus describes the kingdom of heaven, the kingdom of heaven is like... Remember at the beginning of the parable, we are told that the first group that was invited to the wedding, refused to attend. When the King heard about it, he was furious, and he sent out his armies, destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city, Matthew 22:7 8 NKJV. The King then declared an open invitation to everyone to attend the marriage of his son. The parable in Matthew 22 is a profound teaching. It shows that the invitation to salvation is the same as receiving an invitation to the wedding of the Messiah. That is why the garment that the one man had on was such an irritation to the King. It was not so much what the man was wearing per se. It was a heart issue! The apostle John tells us the significance of wedding garments in Revelation 19. And I heard, as it were, the voice of a great multitude, as the sound of many waters and as the sound of mighty thunderings saying: Alleluia! For the Lord God Omnipotent reigns! • 45. Aristotle And Jesus Relationship Essay If you were to ask Jesus Christ whether he has friends, he would most likely say of course I do, I am certainly friends with all of God s children. However, after reading Aristotle, the question becomes, If Jesus has friends, of which sort are they? . Aristotle defines friendship as, Any association of people who spend time and do things together, share in pains and pleasure, and wish for each other s good, (Nicomachean Ethics 1166a 1 10). Addressing each aspect of this definition, with the twelve disciples in mind, the reader concludes that they certainly spend time together, share in pains and pleasure, but the sticking point is whether they wish for each other s good. The answer to that question determines if in fact Jesus has friends what sort they are. There is a multitude of evidence presented in the Gospel of Mark that seems to indicate that Jesus is incapable of having friends. First, it is nearly impossible to consider the relationship between Jesus and the people he heals as friendship. Furthermore, the people that he heals often ignore his directives and, after healing somebody Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it, (Mark 7 36). It is difficult for a friendship to exist between a doctor and patient, the difficulties would be further compounded if the doctor gave the patient directions which were brazenly ignored.
