Joe s Work Case Study
Joe attended Central High School in Manchester, NH. Since he joined the Marine Corp at 17 years old
he did not graduate. However, he has obtained several certifications through his work with quality
control, first aid, and environmental regulations. While he was in school, he received satisfactory
grades and enjoyed learning. Joe values keeping children in school as long as you can and is pro
education. For example, while Kathy went back to school he supported her and was proud of her
accomplishments. When helping his grandchildren or a potential foster child learn he plans on sitting
down, reading with them, explaining pictures or ideas, and playing with them. He enjoys discussing
what they have learned and working counting into everyday

The Role Of Resistance Groups In The Holocaust
The Jews started to refuse being deported and were told by their resistance groups it was better get
shot then to go to Treblinka. The groups believed it was better to fight for your life then to wait and
hope you make it out of the camps. Those that tried to resist against the SS were usually tracked down
and either executed or sent to the death camps anyway. On January 9, 1943 Himmler head of the SS
police called for a deportation of over eight thousand people. On the third day, the Jewish attacked the
Germans from the building s windows. On January 18, 1943 the Germans came to round up Jews but
this time Jews were hidden in bunkers and refused to move. Twelve fighters from the ZOB spaced
themselves out with pistols and shot some of the

Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est, Tim OBrien s The Things They Carried, and Siegfried
Sassoon s Suicide in the Trenches
Many war pieces express a distinct sense of truth, hatred, and anger that can be found in the style,
tone, and imagery they possess. Incredible images are created in ones mind as war writings are read
and heard. Works written by such writers as Siegfried Sassoon, Wilfred Owen, and Tim OBrien really
reach out to the audience by way of the authors choice of words and images that they use in their
writing. These talented writers create very touching and heart felt images as they write about the true
occurrences, problems, feelings and emotions that soldiers encountered throughout times of war. It is
by way of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Owen similarly guides the tone of his writing very carefully, choosing the perfect words and
punctuation to emphasize or stress certain aspects that he had in mind to be expressed. Owen also tries
to give the poem a serious tone to it by exclaiming, Gas! Gas! Quick boys! But someone still was
yelling out and stumbling As under a green sea, I saw him drowning (Gioia 782). He wants the reader
to understand what serious obstacles the soldiers had to suffer through. War really was a time of pain
and grief, not of glory. This idea is seen in Owens overall style of writing. He is rather honest and
blunt about wartime. Basically, he wants his audience to feel the pain of what soldiers of any war had
to go through. His final words are, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est/ Pro patria mori. (Gioia 783).
The translation of those words says, It is sweet and fitting to die for ones country. He just wants
everyone to know that it is in deed a lie to believe that war and dying for ones country should be
rewarded and glorified.
Another wartime writing by Tim OBrien is known as The Things They Carried (Gioia 706). Unlike the
last piece of literature, this one is somewhat of a story rather than a poem. Tim OBrien does a fantastic
job of setting the tone and style of his piece in such a way that his audience truly gets the full
experience of what being a soldier in combat felt like. It is unclear whether OBrien wrote a
biographical story

Phone Patrol School
Should schools and officials be able to go through one s phone for information? I don t believe that
schools and officers have the right to be able to go through a suspect s phone for information about
something, I believe it is a violation of privacy, and ignores the fourth amendment which protects
people from random search and seizures. For example, they could have embarrassing or funny
personal photos and videos with a friend that they wouldn t want anyone watching or seeing. In the
article Phone Patrol it states People could have....pictures in there, like of their girlfriends, that they
don t want somebody else to see, and it would be an invasion of privacy not only for them, but the
other person also. , and I believe police don t need to be snooping through a suspect s personal
information and pictures because they are invading one s privacy. In addition, schools shouldn t be
able to stalk and look at a student s social media and then go through that students stuff. If there s a
situation, the school shouldn t get involved, they should let the student s parents take care of that. In

Likert Scales
The national government agency wants to examine the levels of organizational attachment its
employees experience. The memo wants to determine why employees feel uninspired at work. In
addition, the memo wants to ascertain the leadership style used by supervisors and entire management
on their subordinates and whether this agency has any motivation strategies for its employees, and
whether the management communicates organizational goals and mission to the subordinates. Failure
to communicate organizational goals, lack of motivation strategies, and poor choice of leadership style
can create unconducive work environment while the proper choice of leadership style, the availability
of motivation strategies, and the shared mission and goals improves ... Show more content on

Based on the responses that I will get from the survey, I will give the analysis on whether it is through
inappropriate leadership style, lack of motivation strategies, failure to communicate the mission and
goals of the agency, and of lack of participative management in this agency. Furthermore, I will advise
the management according on how to address the concerns of their employees. Nine survey questions
will use the Likert scales which come in many variations from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The
advantage of Likert scales is that they demonstrate order and the absence of distance between
categories. The last question is the general question that wants to ascertain the employee s additional
comments which the questions have not addressed. There are two sections in this survey and the first
section focuses on leadership style of the agency. It tries to ascertain how it contributes to the current
situation in the agency. The last section focuses on motivation as the Partnership for Public Service
reports state that employees who feel connected to agency missions are more satisfied and

Essay on The Irish Republican Army Ideology
The Irish Republican Army Ideology
The Irish Republican Army ideology is still living in Northern Ireland, nearly a century after the
organization s establishment. Although the IRA has since disbanded, the spirit is kept alive by a
number of splinter factions, including the Provisional, Continuity, and Real IRAs. Not many terrorist
organizations can maintain a campaign this extensive in time. The long history of the IRA campaign
of terror leads to many political, social, religious, educational and economic effects. It also contributes
to international problems about which we may only be able to speculate.
The most violent splinter group from the Provisional IRA is named the Real Irish ... Show more

The group predominantly participates in bombings, especially car bombs; however, the U.S.
Department of State says they have also been involved in robberies and assassinations. Their targets
include the police in Northern Ireland, Protestant communities in Northern Ireland, the British
military, and civilians, according to the State Department. There is a good deal of conflicting
information regarding the number of attacks committed by the Real IRA. According to the MIPT
Terrorism Knowledge Base, the rIRA have participated in 29 total incidents, while the State
Department says that there have been more than 80 attacks since 1999. Another report stated that the
rIRA was responsible for nine terrorist attacks in 1998 alone, including its most deadly (Melaugh).
The most effective attack by the Real IRA occurred on August 15, 1998 in Omagh, Northern Ireland.
On that day 29 people were killed and around 220 were wounded. Among the dead was a woman who
was 8 months pregnant with twins. A false warning was issued 30 minutes before the bomb went off to
Ulster Television in Belfast. Law enforcement officials moved people away from the location of the
warning, only to have moved them closer to the actual location, causing even more injury (Omagh).
The public was so outraged with the bombing that the Real IRA announced they were ceasing all
military operations,

Defusing the Conflict in Northern Ireland
It seems that all, throughout history, Protestants and Catholics are always butting heads. Tensions were
particularly high between Ireland and Britain with Ireland being Catholic and Britain Protestant. This
religious discrepancy had a real effect on the Irish people, interfering with their Catholic tradition. The
Irish people had longed for independence from the British for a long time; but, Britain really managed
to agitate the Irish when they sent settlers from Britain and Scotland to settle in Northern Ireland. This
agitation eventually grew into the Northern Ireland War, as the Protestants began to take control. If the
Protestants had just settled into Northern Ireland and went about their life, there may have never been
a war. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

leaves the Catholic people with nothing. The Catholics also wanted full independence because they
felt that the Protestants were affecting their identity, and they were afraid of losing it. One can see that
that Irish united to fight for their cultural identity which was slowly being melded with the Protestant
culture. Through the loss of the education system, they were losing their religious tradition. There
were no more churches, and slowly their faith was becoming less connected to the people. By
removing the identity of the Irish Catholics and influencing their culture directly and indirectly they
are angering the Catholics, provoking rebellions.
It was not the Irish Catholic identity that was being lost, through the restriction enforced on them they
were also losing their political stature. They lost the power to have any say in the running of

Functional Specificity Of The Human Brain Essay
The human brain is a very complicated part of the human anatomy. Kanwisher states in an inaugural
article, Understanding the nature of the human mind is arguably the greatest intellectual quest of all
time. The impacts occur when during the embryo phase of life development. Brain is the operational
center of a human body. As I was reading the article functional specificity in the human brain: A
window into the functional architecture of the mind , Gall proposed that the brain is the seat of the
mind, that the mind is composed of distinct mental faculties, and that each mental faculty reside in a
specific rain organ (Kanwisher, 2010). The brain the main center of our body that controls the function
of each part. In the early stage of life, babies begin to develop their basic functions that even though
babies do not have the ability to communicate, they learn very quickly how to talk and walk. Babies
can see and hear to recognize the sounds, and they have their own language. The development of new
words and sounds critical in this beginning stage life. The human brains are all developed the same;
however, the early development phase if critical for building out capacity. The human brain is one of
the most mysterious tissues, and the neurons send signals to each other across a tiny gap between them
via spreading electrical messages across vast networks to make your brain do what it does. For
instance, monolingual and bilingual speakers. The question is whether monolingual

What I Have Learned About Salbutamol
Salbutamol (also known as albuterol in USA) is one of the most famous short acting β2 agonists. It
has become first line treatment for asthma due to its effectiveness. I met this drug in a dispensing
session in the first term and I think is a good example of what we have learnt so far. In this essay I will
tell you what I know about this drug. Salbutamol is sold in its sulphate form and is marketed as a
racemic product. According pharmaceutical chemistry this means that in it, it has 50% of the R
enantiomer and 50% of the S enantiomer. However, only the R enantiomer is active at the β receptors.
It is thought that the S enantiomer is inactive or causes adverse effects. Because of this, the pure R
enantiomer was marketed levalbuterol. β receptor agonists are used in the treatment of asthma and
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) to relax the muscles in the air passages in the lungs.
Salbutamol is a selective β2 adrenergic agonist, although this selectivity is relative and dose
dependent. This means that the selectivity is lost at high concentration and thus causing side effects.
Albuterol has affinity to β 2 receptors and binds to them, causing a relaxation effect. β2 receptors are
members of the adrenergic family of receptors and therefore its effects are caused by an interaction
with G proteins. β

Although Russia formally denied any military involvement in Ukraine, soldiers in unmarked Russian
fatigues entering the Crimean peninsula and the accidental placement of artillery pieces beyond the
Russo Ukrainian border didn t make it very hard to figure out who was responsible for the invasion of
Crimea. Everyone s theories were proven true when Russian President Vladimir Putin officially
announced that the Russian Federation was annexing the Crimean Peninsula from the Ukrainian
government. In this paper, I will discuss the Russian military involvement in Ukraine and the actions
taken by the United States and Canada in response to these activities from the perspective of

Protests and violence continue until mid February, when the leaders of both the government and the
opposition agreed to create a new government, resulting in the diminishing of Yanukovich s powers
and his escaping out of Kiev when the protesters took control of the city and the former Prime
Minister, Yulia Tymoshenko, is installed as the interim leader. After these events, Aleksey Chaly, a pro
Russian leader, was elected as the new mayor of Sevastopol and supporters of the Russian Federation
began to take control of buildings around the Crimean Peninsula and set in motion movements for
Crimean separation. On February 28th, men in unmarked fatigues took control of the Simferopol
airport and a Military airfield near Sevastopol, following which, the Russian government claimed that
these military actions were in order to protect their fleet in the Black Sea. In March, Russian troops
continued to spread across Crimea and the Crimean Parliament declared their wishes to join with
Russia. At this time, the EU and the US gave their support to the Ukrainian government by creating
trade agreements and rejecting the Crimean Referendum. On March 13th, the Ukrainian Parliament

Symbolism And Symbolism In Wan Echo Sonnet By Robert Pack
In ¨An Echo Sonnet¨ by Robert Pack, he was able to develop a clear message with his carefully
structured poem. By employing a Shakespearean Sonnet form and a rhyming echo that answers the
question raised by the voice, Pack revealed that the echo was the voice´s alter ego. Through the use of
structure and other literary elements such as personification, imagery, and symbolism, the author
developed the idea that although one might have insecurities about the future, it is important to take
the ¨leap¨ of faith in order to truly be alive.
In the first quatrain, the author starts off with general questions about life that helps characterize the
voice. In the first sentence, the voice wonders if he is able to start from nothingness. This could be an
indication for either low aspiration or being too scared to take any actions for progression. To answer
this, the echo replies with ¨start¨. In order to progress on this empty page, everyone must start
somewhere and take that one small step. The voice then worries about the outcome of life by
juxtaposing joy and grief. The echo replies that grief is an outcome of life because it is not trying to
conceal the inevitable truth. This introduction presents the voice as being insecure and anxious as he
tries to understand the meaning of life and an echo that is direct.
The next four lines address death with symbolism and personification to establish the idea of not
fearing the unknown future. In line 5, the voice talks about the life cycle

We Define An Indoor Mobile Robot Essay
We define {it verbalization} as the process by which an autonomous robot converts its own experience
into language. We represent the variations in possible explanations for the same robot experience in
the extit{verbalization space} (VS). Each region in verbalization space represents a different way to
generate explanations to describe its experience, by providing different information as preferred by the
user. In this work the process of verbalization has been discussed for describing our mobile service
robot, CoBot s path. Note that this method can be expanded to other robot s experience as well.
subsection{Environment Map and Route Plan} label{subsec:pathcomp} In order to compute a route
verbalization, the verbalization algorithm requires an environment map with annotations representing
high level locations of interest. We define an indoor mobile robot s map $M = langle P, E angle$ as set
of points $p = (x,y,m) in P$ representing unique locations in our building where m represents the floor
number and the name of the building, and edges $e = langle p_1, p_2, d, t angle in E$ that connect
two points taking time $t$ to traverse distance $d$. Using our map, a route planner produces route
plans as trajectories through our map.
The route plan is composed of a starting point $S$, finish point $F$, an ordered list of intermediate
waypoints $W subset P$, and a subset of edges in $E$ that connect $S$ to $F$ through $W$.
The map is annotated with extit{landmarks}

Immigration and Crime Rates in the United States
I. INTRODUCTION:
The study I am researching examines if there is a positive correlation between crime rates and
immigration in the United States. A report from the Department of Justice in 2014 found, almost 50%
of federal crimes were committed near the Mexican border. Of the 61,529 criminal cases initiated by
federal prosecutors last fiscal year .
One third of Americans consider immigrants to be the cause of increased violent crimes Data shows
citizens with a higher population of immigrants like New York are known as crime ridden in
mainstream media. Data shows from the Federal Bureau of Investigations the foreign born are very
underrepresented.

There has been problems that have been brought about by the perception of illegal immigration
increasing violent crime rates. The significance of this study will provide academic research and
government research on, rather or not an immigrant crime and the increase of homicide rates in
America. Data shows conflicting data in this study as some data shows data that confirms illegal
immigrants have a positive impact on homicide while other reports indicated that there is no
correlation to the fluctuation in crime rates. Large cities that have high numbers of Hispanics have
been studied, to determine if homicides in those has increased in violent crime rates. An examination
of this study is important because lowering crime rates is important to U.S citizens. Data shows about

Racial Diversity In Movies
change. This is showing a failure in success for movie productions and TV shows because as time
goes by so do people who have higher expectations for Hollywood. People begin to see that they are
not showing enough diversity in movies or selecting Award winners that are from a different minority
that makes it lose thousands of people from watching the show which is a failure money wise. To
conclude, whitewashing has been another main problem in the Film industries as more movies come
out with more diverse characters they are not always played by the type of minority the character is
supposed to be.
Researchers have stated that if things were to change within the TV productions then maybe there
could be a change financially. There are many statistics that show that many shows and movies do not
seem to grow and researchers have stated that it could be because of the lack of diversity that many
people may get bothered by. However, the 25 movies with casts 21 to 30 percent Black/Latino/Asian
had by far the highest median global box office, at $160.1 million.
The next highest median global box office came from films with 11 to 20 percent
Blacks/Latinos/Asians, at $75.5 million. The 88 films with the least diverse casts had a median global
box office of just $68.5 million (Lin). This shows that if TV shows and movies were to change the
racial diversity in their shows or movies that they could possibly have a high positive effect instead of
continuing not to grow. The research

Cuneiform History
Cuneiform was an early form of wedge shaped writing developed by ancient Sumerians around the
late 4th millennium B.C. Named after the Latin word cuneus or wedge shaped , cuneiform was
recorded on clay tablets with pointed reed sticks. Archaeologists have located many of these tablets at
various archaeological sites in modern day Iraq. Only highly educated Sumerian scribes could actually
read and write cuneiform, creating social disparities between the educated rich and the laboring poor.
Other early forms of writing, such as Akkadian, Babylonian, Assyrian, and Persian languages, were
based on the principles of cuneiform. This early language provided the roots for other written
languages all around the world (Nardo 81 84).
Ziggurats were tall pyramid shaped buildings that served as templates for local Mesopotamian gods.
With first versions built in Sumer in the later 4th millennium B.C. they evolved from a simple large
platform to intricately designed, multi story buildings. Ancient Mesopotamians saw the ziggurats as
the connection between humanity and their local god. Located in the center of Mesopotamian cities,
they symbolized the power of the gods and the priests who communicated with the gods ( Ziggurats

In his play, Death and the King s Horseman, Wole Soyinka uses certain literary forms and devices to
intermix Yoruba culture and a predominantly European dramatic form to create a play easily
understood by the audience, but that allows the introduction of a foreign influence. These devices
include the use of a songlike quality in dialogue and the telling of stories, the use of personification
and metaphor to give an exotic quality to the play, and the use of certain elements to provide the

Soyinka uses personification and metaphor to lend an exotic, poetic quality to the play. In this excerpt
from page 1159, Elesin personifies envy, symbolizing its attacking quality, uses houseposts as a
metaphor to symbolize the building of trust, and termites as a metaphor to symbolize the way in which
time eats at all things. Elesin also uses the twilight hour, or the coming of the end of the day, to

tarnish the honor given him because of his duty to his king and the trust built with his king. Line 213

Examples Of Probable Cause
The standard for a legal arrest is probable cause. For an officer to make an arrest, he or she must have
more than a mere hunch yet less than actual knowledge that the arrestee committed the crime (Peak,
2009). Law enforcement officers need to make certain they understand probable cause is different than
reasonable suspicion. A good example of a reasonable suspicion encounter is Terry V. Ohio, where an
officer who had 39 years of experience in law enforcement observed two men standing on a street
corner. It appeared based on the officer s experience the two men were casing a store because they
both were walking up and down the street peering into the store windows, and then they would return
to the corner to conference. While the officer ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The officer did have reasonable suspicion to make contact and after locating the weapons he had his
probable cause. There are four situations that Probable Cause is used; involving arrests with a warrant,
arrests without a warrant, searched of items with a warrant, and searches of items without a warrant
(V., D. C., Walker, J. T., 2015). Most of my encounters with individuals occurs on traffic stops; which
require probable cause to stop them. My probable cause could be speeding, reckless driving or any
traffic violation in the traffic law manual. Once probable cause is established then contact is made
with the driver. If there is reason to believe that there is more than a traffic violation, such as an officer
smelling marijuana inside the vehicle, then he or she can now have access into the vehicle. My
probable cause to get into the vehicle is based on my training and experience that there was or is
illegal narcotics inside the vehicle. If there is no probable cause to get into the vehicle and an officer
feels there is more to the traffic stop than speeding, then the officer needs to build his reasonable
suspicion to figure out what the driver is up to. For example, one night on patrol, it was believed that
there was a possible drug transaction going on in the

Cultural Technology And Its Impact On Western Asia
Cultural proximity is the nationally, rather locally developed content that is related and supports
traditional identities concerning regional, ethnic, language, religion and other cultural components
(Georgiou, 2012).Cultural proximity is related to Confucian which is a common cultural belief in East
Asia that had been commonly used as a tool to enhance the consumption various idea including media
content in the region. Chua (2004) argument that the commonness in Confucian basis to East Asia
region culture as having been overtaken by a common popular cultural circulation via the media
suggests that cultural proximity is not a major tool any more in determining the consumption of media
content within the region. This can be explained by the current trend where everything is going in the
global direction.
With globalization and advancement in technology, local is going global and the global is attempting
to become local or rather regional. In the modern world there are no boundaries for political,
economic and cultural concepts overlap, converge, and collide beyond regional boundaries not only in
the East Asia region but in the entire world. Confucian was utilized by governments to promote their
economies, but people became skeptical like in the case of a incidence in straits Times (1998) ; where
governments were perceived as weak and corrupt and only utilizes Confucian for its own good and
more worse the Asian financial crisis displaced the Confucian project(Tu 1991).In

What Are The Similarities Between Cubism And Futurism
Introduction
The early Twentieth Century faced a series of movements that made an impact during that period. Two
of these major movements are Cubism and Futurism, which contrast in their origins, philosophies, and
method of creating art, their distinguishing characteristics, and method of relating the subject and
viewer in time and space, as well as the artists involved and their unique artworks. By comparing both
Movements, I will be able to distinguish the difference as well as the similarities between these
movements and the impact they have in modern art.
Cubism
Which was an Early Twentieth Century Style and Movement in art, used more in paintings, which
focussed more on the usage of geometric shapes, interlocking planes, and later at some point there was
a usage of making a collage, was used or originated in Europe and then was later used in France. It
was very influential as it was sought to have brought about diversity within art in that era.
Futurism
Futurism is an artistic Movement which focussed more on modern technology, rather than traditional
form. It is an Early Twentieth Century Movement that took place or originated in Italy.
Origins
In the early 19th Century, a great artist designed a painting which brought about the start of a new
movement in France. Les Demoiselles D Avignon (Fig. 1.1) is a painting by ... Show more content on

The Creation of Shelter in Pre-Colonial North Australia...
The Creation Of Shelter In Pre Colonial Far North Australia And New Zealand
Shelter has always been a necessity for mankind. We, as humans, have a relationship with the land that
we must respect to live happily amongst it. Spaning back as far as the pre Colonial Australia,
indigenous Australians understood this connection excellently. Their shelters seemed to bend with the
land as they understood crucial elements within the architecture to compensate for distinctive climate
and cultural factors to fit their nomadic lifestyle. Their living style was very minimalistic yet practical.
The indigenous Australians only built what they needed to survive. For evidence of this, we will be

Similar to conservation of food and environment, their architectural style was also minimalistic.
The far north indigenous tribes of Australia centralised their camps and villages in the proximity of a
running stream. This ensured that their food sources weren t toxic plants, that they had an abundance
of riverine species such as crayfish, eels and fish, the construction of earth oven with river sand and
rock for manufacturing nutcrackers and axes7. These sorts of villages were constructed quite
permanently to facilitate older relatives in a cool and providing place whist other tribe members
continued to move from place to place8. Building near a stream was a sustainable idea as the
surrounding area was far less dense, they didn t need to clear much spaces to build a camp. They
would aim for places with much sun light to escape the constant wet environment of the rainforest.9
They had to take care that the ground was semi elevated to ensure the camp was not flood prone, that
the river they were camped next to would not rise too much. In these base camps, more permanent
dome structures were built. The indigenous understood the different between structures that would
support them for longer periods of time and that of a nomadic lifestyle. Similarly, the early settlements
of the first New Zealanders were often at harbors or the mouths of rivers which were close to the sea.
This provided them with good access to

A Study On Dual Immersion Program
Summary 11
This article written by Potowoski was grounded on a study involving High school graduates whom
had completed a dual immersion program. A dual immersion program might have different names that
people refer to them as. I have heard such names as two way immersion or, even two way bilingual
immersion. They are the same program. They include native English speaking students and native
speakers of a foreign language. The goals of dual immersion programs are to develop bilingualism,
academic achievement, and of course cross cultural competencies in both languages .This study
analyzes their proficiency in reading writing and speaking, and also it observes their capability of
producing and identifying the correct Spanish

How accurate are these dual immersion graduates in the production of three specific verb forms the
present subjunctive, the past subjunctive, and the conditional? 3. To what extent are these dual
immersion students capable of producing and recognizing socio linguistically appropriate Spanish?
The setting of the study was an Inter American magnet school was one of the oldest dual immersion
schools in the US. It populates about 640 students ranging from pre k to 8th grade. There were 52
participants. 30 of them were heritage speakers and age they began learning English was :(9 of them
by birth, 14 since preschool, 5 since kinder or first, 2 since 3rd or 4th grade) 17 knew Spanish as a
second language and ages they began were (6 since preschool, 8 in kinder or first, 3 in 3rd or 4th
grade) and 5 were late arrival in which all 5 arrived in US during 6th or 7th only two years before
study. The measures were focused on dual immersion students overall written, reading, and oral
abilities. Two measures were used to test students oral Spanish. One was the Spanish Language
Assessment Scales Oral, a standardized exam. It includes identifying vocabulary items displayed in
ten drawings, a multiple choice listening comprehension section, and listening to a story and then
retelling it while viewing picture prompts. Another way they were tested was by the Foreign Language

Tagore s Gitanjali: Experiments in Modern Indian Poetry India s struggle for Independence had
acquired a new dimension with the Revolt of 1857 and at around the same time, in 1861, one of India
s most celebrated poets Rabindranath Tagore was born in Bengal. The time in which Tagore is born

poets and writers who wrote before him and also how he begins to experiment with the forms, styles

This frail vessel thou emptiest again and again, and fillest it ever with fresh life.
The human body is a temple of the soul, the human soul is temple of God. The human soul has no
significance unless it is inhibited of filled by the Supreme. Birth and death are but the filling and
emptying of the soul by the Supreme, and the individual, insignificant as he may seem to be, in this
way partakes of God s endless life, His immortality. Hence sings Tagore:
This little flute of a reed thou hast carried over hills and dales, and hast breathed through it melodies
eternally new.
For Tagore, the lifeless flute comes to life when the Lord of Brindavan plays it forever piping songs
that are forever new. The human soul is not only God s temple, it is also Krishna s flute. Life s
vicissitudes are but new melodies played by the Lord. The poet, therefore, concludes
At the immortal touch of thy hands my little heart loses its limit in joy and gives birth to utterance
ineffable.

Frost s Mending Wall, By Robert Frost
Introduction
With reference to Robert Frost s poem, Mending Wall , the repairing of the wall is understood as both
a verb (action) as well as in the form of an adjective (abstract). Looking at the word mend/mending , it
is a lot easier to interpret with respect to the action with regard to the Mending [of a] Wall as opposed
to something which is more abstract and a lot more challenging to attain. When looking at the word
mending as a verb in connection to the poem, the physical aspects come into play than that of abstract
(i.e. relationships).

Making A Proactive Change Management Decision
For a few years now, I have considered making a proactive change management decision of going
back to the academic arena of teaching continuing education classes in September for the fall
semester. In the past, I have taught evening continuing education classes to adult students, who were
enrolled in a medical billing certificate program. I miss teaching in the classroom, and I thoroughly
enjoy training students for the workforce. The courses I taught were technology geared toward
Microsoft Office software. Since I made the decision to no longer teach and return to the university to
complete my bachelor s degree, this transitional change is something that I have been considering.
However, there are internal and external forces that exist that may impact on extending my work
schedule, and I expect to encounter some resistance from family members supporting me in working
longer hours that may impact my final decision.
Personal Change The transitional change of returning to the classroom affords me the opportunity to
share my knowledge and experience teaching multiple Microsoft Office applications. According to
Petty and Thomas, (2004), Many adults are having to set their sights on obtaining sufficient skills to
be more marketable for employment (p. 473). Teaching students the techniques to successfully operate
Microsoft Office applications, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint has been very
rewarding to me and is also something I perform in my daily

Gertude Stein And The Art Of Cubism Essay
The Cubist painter renounced the work of artists who drew only what society wanted to view as art.
Instead of painting for the appraisers of conventional art, Cubist painters assembled shapes and
movement from different angles to create a completely innovative artistic perspective. Like the Cubist
artist, Gertrude Stein, a modernist writer of the 20th century, rejected the expectations of a society that
required writing to model the speech of the English language just as it required art to model the
visions and still life images of everyday situations and experiences. Stein s writing is often compared
to the visual art of modernist painting, such as Duchamp s work from the 1913 Armory Show, Nude

In the section entitled A Waist, Stein uses anaphora and begins each of three separate, disconnected
thought patterns in the same manner: A star glide, a single franctic sullenness, a single financial grass
greediness. Object that is in wood. Hold the pine, hold the dark, hold in the rush, make the bottom. A
piece of crystal. A change, in a change that is remarkable there is no reason to say that there was a
time. A woolen object gilded. A country climb is the best disgrace, a couple of practices an of them in
order is so left (1171). A pattern is maintained within this section that creates the rhythm between the
separated thought patterns, but at the same time does not permit the reader to move out of the present,
thus forcing the reader to continue moving through the section. The disconnected thought patterns
within Stein s work are created mainly by the construction of unlikely associations between the words
within each phrase, and also between the sections and their corresponding headings. Duchamp s
painting also uses unlikely associations between what is seen initially when glancing at his work, and
what the disjointed shapes and angles are meant to represent according to the title of the painting.
Stein and Duchamp both place labels on their pieces that initially implant an idea of what the viewer
may be intended to see, such as

Summary Of The Poem Slam Dunk Hook
In Yusef Komunyakaa s brilliantly written poem, Slam, Dunk, Hook , the author writes about boys
playing a game of basketball with an emotional attitude. He calls the players, beautiful and dangerous
, shows them changing throughout the poem, and uses a comma to separate the word slam from dunk
to show what the actual focus of the game is. By the end of the game, the players become more
advanced without knowing because of their determinations to get their emotions under control. In,
Slam, Dunk, Hook , the author writes about a group of boys playing a game of basketball with a lot of
emotion. The author states in line 24 26, When Sonny Boy s mama died He played nonstop all day, so
hard our backboard splintered. The players are filled with anger that is caused by all the tragedies that
keep occurring in their lives. The anger started to pile on so much that they started to play the game as
way to let out the anger instead of letting it take over their actions and lead them to act out in violence.
Another way the author shows the player s emotions in the poem, Slam Dunk, Hook is with his heavy
verb usage seen often in the poem. Line 29 31 states, Trouble was there slapping a blackjack Against
an open palm . The boys coming together for a game when they weren t at their best was the only
positive thing in their lives. The game was like an escape from reality because without it, they would
have no control over themselves with all the bad in their lives. The

Micro Parties In Australia Essay
Micro parties have been apart of the democratic landscape in Australia for many years but rose to
prominence in Australia during and after the 2013 Federal election where the election delivered the
biggest Senate crossbench in modern history. Due to their size the micro parties have no real chance of
forming government but they do have a huge opportunity in influencing electoral outcomes.
Competition in any industry is positive and with the influx of micro parties in Australia, most having
an impact on the electorate and appealing to voters the new look Senate can be seen as a major win for
Australian democracy.

Larger and unpredictable cohorts of swinging voters now characterize our democratic system. Their
political preferences and voting intentions constantly change, often heavily influenced by a single
issue or narrower policy platform.
The major parties, as a result, become less flexible and responsive. They can be held up by procedural
delays, adherence to party rules or structures, and even the need for cabinet solidarity. All this suggests
micro parties may not be some kind of unwelcome or unrepresentative intrusion into our democratic
system, as conventional views would have it.
Criticism of the major parties has also been directed toward the type of candidate put up for election
by the major political parties. Matthewson (abc 2014) states that there has been an influx of the
professional political elite such as former political advisers, party apparatchiks and trade union leaders
who have very little real life experiences which alienates them from the general voters and makes

better sports teams and athletes of the state, typically there is usually quite a few teams representing
the area during the state tournament. When a local team or athlete makes it to state, a group of people
will either go and watch in person, or try to see if the event is being broadcasted on television. Often

That s a question I m sure many people had over the football, wrestling, and basketball state

interview with Scott Byers. In order to watch the channel CSN Chicago, you need to either live in the
area that your local cable company offers it, or have Dish Network or DirecTV. Like I said earlier,
about 90% of the area that does offer the channel is in the eastern part of Iowa. So if you live on the
western side, and don t have either Dish Network or DirecTV, you are basically out of luck. The local
cable companies could get CSN Chicago into their package but with Northwest Iowa so far away from
Chicago, almost none in this area do. It makes sense not to get the channel only if you want it to watch
IHSAA state events. Scott Byers asked the head of the local cable company in Sioux Center about it
and he said picking up CSN Chicago for three years would cost his company well over a million
dollars. Instead of people on the Eastern side of Iowa, the Northwest Iowa people get to watch Fox
Sports North which shows the Minnesota teams like the Twins and Timberwolves. Next, people might
wonder if this really has to go on for the full three years. Well, I found that answer too in my
interview. Scott said, Most contracts can be broken, but it becomes a legal matter at that point and will
cost whatever the lawyers come up with in negotiations. Generally,

(Dr. Donald Nye). In a nuclear generator rods of Uranium, that are producing radiation, are inserted
into giant tanks of water, the reaction occurring by the proximity of the Uranium atoms causes the
rods to generate heat, this in turn heats the water producing steam. The steam is the used to push a
turban, or something else to create work, which in turn gives us energy. There are also certain safety
measures put in place in case of an emergency to help keep the Uranium from reaching critical mass.
The fact that the rods are in water is mainly what keeps the explosion from happening and not as much
Uranium is used. If there is an emergency lead panels will drop between the rods preventing the
reaction from continuing to occur and cold water is pumped into the tanks

Essay on Persian Gulf War
The Persian Gulf is one of the few regions whose importance to the United States is obvious. The flow
of Gulf oil will continue to be crucial to the economic well being of the industrialized world for the
foreseeable future; developments in the Gulf will have a critical impact on issues ranging from Arab
Israeli relations and religious extremism to terrorism and nuclear nonproliferation. Every president
since Richard Nixon has recognized that ensuring Persian Gulf security and stability is a vital U.S.
interest.
The Clinton administration s strategy for achieving this goal during the president s first term was its
attempted quot;dual containment quot; of Iraq and Iran. This is more a slogan than a strategy,
however, and the policy may ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hence no U.S. Gulf policy will satisfy everyone in every respect. That makes it all the more essential
that any adjustment in U.S. policy toward Iraq and Iran be preceded by extensive consultations with
friendly Gulf leaders. Inadequate dialogue and unilateral action have caused some insecurity in the
region and weakened trust in U.S. steadfastness.
When the British withdrew from the Persian Gulf in 1971, the United States became the principal
foreign power in the region. For almost three decades it has pursued the goal of preserving regional
stability, using a variety of means to that end, particularly regarding the northern Gulf powers of Iraq
and Iran.
At first the United States relied on Iran as its chief regional proxy, supporting the shah s regime in the
hope that it would be a source of stability. This policy collapsed in 1979 with the Iranian Revolution,
when Iran switched from staunch ally to implacable foe. During the 1980s, the United States strove to
maintain a de facto balance of power between Iraq and Iran so that neither would be able to achieve a
regional hegemony that might threaten American interests. The United States provided some help to
Iraq during the Iran Iraq War of 1980 88, moved in other ways to counter the spread of Iranian backed
Islamic militancy, and provided with Israeli encouragement some help to Iran,

Relationship Between Milk Market Participation
In this chapter, we study the relationship between the milk market participation of smallholder
households and women`s intra household bargaining power in Ethiopia. Our data show that household
income is indeed substantially higher in milk market participating households (101 versus 49 birr
daily). This higher income of participating households is almost completely earned by selling raw
milk to the market. The other way of receiving milk income processing raw milk into butter and
cottage cheese for sale at the local market is much less important in market participant households
than in non participant households.
This difference has important consequences for the distribution of income within the household. Milk
income from the formal market is received and controlled by men (who sign the contract with the milk
company), whereas income from the local market is received and controlled by women. The
consequences for the intra household distribution of income are clearly reflected in our data. In milk
market participant households, men`s milk income is on average 93 birr per day, whereas in non
participant households men do not earn income from milk on a daily bases. Women tend to earn and
control the entire dairy income in non participant households (34 birr per day), but earn only 4 birr
milk income per day in market participant households.
The central goal of the current study was to find out what the consequences of this change are for the
bargaining position of

Plea Bargainning Essay
What is plea bargaining? Plea bargaining is the pre trial negotiation, which takes place in a criminal
procedure. During this procedure the defendant and has his attorney sits on one side, and the
prosecutor is on the other. The defendant either agrees to plead guilty or no contest to a crime. Another
element for plea bargaining would also be because the defendant reveals information such as location
of stolen goods, names of others participating in the crime or admission of other crime(s), such as a
string of burglaries. In return a reduction in charges, or dismissal of some charges, this has to be
approved by the judge, before accepting can take place. If the judge does not agree, then the plea
bargain is cancelled. In the book Law ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still in some cases, prosecutors may be convinced that they have the right defendant and a completely
accurate charge as to what crime(s) he or she committed, and yet secure a conviction may be
questionable. This of course is beneficial for both sides to arrange a resolution of the matter without
either side taking the chance that the case may go against them if it was to go to trial.
It was also proven in 1998, which 92 percent of the cases presented were returned by Manhattan grand
juries. Statistic seems to support critics claims that the grand jury is little more than a rubber stamp
The majority of theses cases are resolved through plea agreements; fewer than 10 percent actually get
to trial, and of those, the Manhattan District Attorney s Office claims a conviction rate of 75 to 80
percent (Berger 31).
Although plea bargaining may be beneficial, there are some people that may think that there are
problems associated with it. Steven Silberblatt states, to be voluntary within the meaning of the Fifth
Amendment a statement by a criminal defendant must be a product of free will, unencumbered by
threats or promises.
Coercion of any kind, whether physical or psychological is prohibited (Silberblatt). This being the
case, why is the Criminal Justice system permitted to make promises and threats in order to induce
defendants to give up all of their constitutional rights, which

The Concept Of Automation
Shrinking budgets, shortage of qualified personnel and growing workloads are shaping the
organization of clinical laboratories and the networks around them. As a result, merging and
consolidation of institutions is commonplace to take advantage of economies of scale and as a result,
laboratory automation has been in the rise connecting more sectors to tracks.
A key question to answer is what is the level automation system is right for each clinical laboratory?
Automation can improve lab s efficiency and help clinical outcomes. . However, each center must
value its own objectives of automation for each sector and define if they will require modular type
automation systems or automation.

In this sense, a definition of automation would include the use of combined and computer set, robotics
and the analyzers to manipulate the samples before, during and after measurements.
The automation of the laboratory, in the broad sense, affects all stages of the analytical process. This
means that new organizational approaches ranging from automation of individual processes to
reorganization projects and total automation. Between both situations there are an important variety of
scenarios that lead to models of laboratory.
Total laboratory automation (TLA) involves the integration of analyzers together with pre analytic and
post analytic. The work of a total automation system begins by managing the samples in an input
module that classifies and loads them in the carriers, centrifuges tubes, uncaps them and direct them to
the analyzers. The samples, after sampled by the analyzer are stored temporarily in dedicated output
location, from where they may be automatically recovered in case it rerun or reflex testing in
necessary.
The automation of clinical laboratories, when done properly and in accordance with to the needs of
each center, provides benefits that include an efficient increase in productivity, the possibility of
adding new analytical procedures without increasing the resources human, the centralization of
processes, reliable management of samples with full traceability, the standardization of the analytical
process, a greater guarantee of

Political Influence Of The Gang Of Four Essay
In October 1st 1949, after 8 years war of resistance against Japan, The people s Republic of China was
founded by the lead of Chairman Mao, which we call the New China . After 1949, China has been
through many political movements. The most famous movements among others were the ideological
transformation movement; great proletarian cultural revolution; The smash of the gang of four and the
reform and opening up policy, etc. All the articles or books I have read explains those movements
from a different angle. In the following section, I will explain the specific movement in two ways the
ordinary history book and the approach from the article, which can t be found in Chinese network.
The Political Influence of Feminism the smash of the gang of four
In the Chinese high school history book, we always learned that the culture revolution was
implemented by Chairman Mao by the influence of Soviet Union. The history book writes: The
Cultural Revolution, called the Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution , is a movement by Mao Zedong
s order and launched by the counter revolutionary groups, which brought the serious disaster to the
party, the state and the people of all nationalities. (Here is my personal translation of the Chinese text)
So, who are the counter revolutionary groups? We never talked specifically on this subject in the
history class. During my research, I came across an article called The truth of Culture Revolution by
people education press. It writes:

How Did Elie Wiesel Change Within The Holocaust
How did Elie Wiesel change within the holocaust? He changed a lot throughout the holocaust as a
person, his physical appearance, his mental stability, and his faith. First I will tell you about how his
physical appearance changed, then I will tell you how his mental stability is challenges and finally I
will tell you about how his faith changed. As you can guess being put into a concentration camp your
physical appearance will change. The biggest change he faced was his physical appearance. From the
beginning of being taken to Auschwitz he started to be starved. The starvation started gradually. There
was still some food left. But we never ate enough to satisfy our hunger. Our principal was to
economize, to save for tomorrow. Tomorrow could be worse yet. (Wiesel 23). After being starved Elie
becomes sick. He is dehydrated and was very weak. Stein, their relative, gave them some advice. Take
care of yourselves, you must avoid selection. The weak don t last very long around here... (Wiesel 45).
Then being hungry and weak he was forced to work. Though his work was not hard he was still
working. He sat on the floor and counted small electrical pieces and parts. Through all of this he had a
lot of time to think about himself. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of the story, Elie was is ambitious but throughout the story he starts to lose his
ambition. He was very independent and driven. He had to go through the pain of his dad dying and be
separated from his sister and his mother. Elie saw some pretty horrifying things for example people
being burned. After that his stability just went down. Suddenly, the evidence overwhelmed me: there
was no longer any reason to live, any reason to fight. (Wiesel 99). This just shows the pain and
suffering he went through because he went from being ambitious and driven to just not wanting to live
anymore. Which tried his

English Language proficiency is the ability of an individual to speak or perform in English Language.

those local undergraduates who plan to pursue their tertiary education at Malaysian universities, they

What Are The Misrepresentation Of African Americans
The media often paints a picture of certain groups that may not be accurate for example, African
Americans in the media are portrayed as criminals, drug addicts, or misogynist which also includes
African American women are viewed as abrasive and promiscuous. While there are millions of
responsible and respectable African Americans. They are not celebrated in the media. What the
community sees are instead are thing in movies and on TV. This changes the general perception of
African Americans and cause people to assume they are violent and are a burdened to society. During
the pinnacle of segregation through the 1900s, African Americans were rarely portrayed on screen and
when they were portrayed in satirical ways, it was with white actors in blackface. This is a great
example of the misrepresentation of an entire community by those in power. In February 1915, a
movie was released called birth of a nation which was based on Thomas Dixon Jr. novel the clansman.
The film depicts the Ku Klux Klan as heroes and the villains were portrayed by white actors in black
face. The film was basically trying to justify racism and imply that the white hooded, figures where
protecting the white race because African males were trying to sexually ravage the white women this
portrayal of African American male was known as a bucks. Despite the very clear prejudice in the film
it was a major success and was the first ever major motion picture shown in the White House to

Those that tried to resist against the SS were usually tracked down and either executed or sent to the death camps anyway. Wilfred Owen s Dulce Et Decorum Est, Tim OBrien s The Things They Carried, and Siegfried Sassoon s Suicide in the Trenches Many war pieces express a distinct sense of truth, hatred, and anger that can be found in the style, tone, and imagery they possess. Incredible images are created in ones mind as war writings are read and heard. Works written by such writers as Siegfried Sassoon, Wilfred Owen, and Tim OBrien really reach out to the audience by way of the authors choice of words and images that they use in their writing. These talented writers create very touching and heart felt images as they write about the true occurrences, problems, feelings and emotions that soldiers encountered throughout times of war. It is by way of these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Owen similarly guides the tone of his writing very carefully, choosing the perfect words and punctuation to emphasize or stress certain aspects that he had in mind to be expressed. Owen also tries to give the poem a serious tone to it by exclaiming, Gas! Gas! Quick boys! But someone still was yelling out and stumbling As under a green sea, I saw him drowning (Gioia 782). He wants the reader to understand what serious obstacles the soldiers had to suffer through. War really was a time of pain and grief, not of glory. This idea is seen in Owens overall style of writing. He is rather honest and blunt about wartime. Basically, he wants his audience to feel the pain of what soldiers of any war had to go through. His final words are, The old Lie: Dulce et decorum est/ Pro patria mori. (Gioia 783). The translation of those words says, It is sweet and fitting to die for ones country. He just wants everyone to know that it is in deed a lie to believe that war and dying for ones country should be rewarded and glorified. Another wartime writing by Tim OBrien is known as The Things They Carried (Gioia 706). Unlike the last piece of literature, this one is somewhat of a story rather than a poem. Tim OBrien does a fantastic job of setting the tone and style of his piece in such a way that his audience truly gets the full experience of what being a soldier in combat felt like. It is unclear whether OBrien wrote a biographical story ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Furthermore, I will advise the management according on how to address the concerns of their employees. Nine survey questions will use the Likert scales which come in many variations from strongly disagree to strongly agree. The advantage of Likert scales is that they demonstrate order and the absence of distance between categories. The last question is the general question that wants to ascertain the employee s additional comments which the questions have not addressed. There are two sections in this survey and the first section focuses on leadership style of the agency. It tries to ascertain how it contributes to the current situation in the agency. Essay on The Irish Republican Army Ideology The Irish Republican Army Ideology The Irish Republican Army ideology is still living in Northern Ireland, nearly a century after the organization s establishment. Although the IRA has since disbanded, the spirit is kept alive by a number of splinter factions, including the Provisional, Continuity, and Real IRAs. Not many terrorist organizations can maintain a campaign this extensive in time. The long history of the IRA campaign of terror leads to many political, social, religious, educational and economic effects. There is a good deal of conflicting information regarding the number of attacks committed by the Real IRA. Tensions were particularly high between Ireland and Britain with Ireland being Catholic and Britain Protestant. This religious discrepancy had a real effect on the Irish people, interfering with their Catholic tradition. The Irish people had longed for independence from the British for a long time; but, Britain really managed to agitate the Irish when they sent settlers from Britain and Scotland to settle in Northern Ireland. This agitation eventually grew into the Northern Ireland War, as the Protestants began to take control. • 9. Functional Specificity Of The Human Brain Essay The human brain is a very complicated part of the human anatomy. Kanwisher states in an inaugural article, Understanding the nature of the human mind is arguably the greatest intellectual quest of all time. The impacts occur when during the embryo phase of life development. Brain is the operational center of a human body. As I was reading the article functional specificity in the human brain: A window into the functional architecture of the mind , Gall proposed that the brain is the seat of the mind, that the mind is composed of distinct mental faculties, and that each mental faculty reside in a specific rain organ (Kanwisher, 2010). The brain the main center of our body that controls the function of each part. In the early stage of life, babies begin to develop their basic functions that even though babies do not have the ability to communicate, they learn very quickly how to talk and walk. Babies can see and hear to recognize the sounds, and they have their own language. The development of new words and sounds critical in this beginning stage life. The human brains are all developed the same; however, the early development phase if critical for building out capacity. The human brain is one of the most mysterious tissues, and the neurons send signals to each other across a tiny gap between them via spreading electrical messages across vast networks to make your brain do what it does. • 10. What I Have Learned About Salbutamol Salbutamol (also known as albuterol in USA) is one of the most famous short acting β2 agonists. It has become first line treatment for asthma due to its effectiveness. I met this drug in a dispensing session in the first term and I think is a good example of what we have learnt so far. In this essay I will tell you what I know about this drug. Salbutamol is sold in its sulphate form and is marketed as a racemic product. According pharmaceutical chemistry this means that in it, it has 50% of the R enantiomer and 50% of the S enantiomer. However, only the R enantiomer is active at the β receptors. It is thought that the S enantiomer is inactive or causes adverse effects. Because of this, the pure R enantiomer was marketed levalbuterol. β receptor agonists are used in the treatment of asthma and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) to relax the muscles in the air passages in the lungs. Salbutamol is a selective β2 adrenergic agonist, although this selectivity is relative and dose dependent. This means that the selectivity is lost at high concentration and thus causing side effects. Albuterol has affinity to β 2 receptors and binds to them, causing a relaxation effect. β2 receptors are members of the adrenergic family of receptors and therefore its effects are caused by an interaction with G proteins. β ... • 12. Symbolism And Symbolism In Wan Echo Sonnet By Robert Pack In ¨An Echo Sonnet¨ by Robert Pack, he was able to develop a clear message with his carefully structured poem. By employing a Shakespearean Sonnet form and a rhyming echo that answers the question raised by the voice, Pack revealed that the echo was the voice´s alter ego. Through the use of structure and other literary elements such as personification, imagery, and symbolism, the author developed the idea that although one might have insecurities about the future, it is important to take the ¨leap¨ of faith in order to truly be alive. In the first quatrain, the author starts off with general questions about life that helps characterize the voice. In the first sentence, the voice wonders if he is able to start from nothingness. This could be an indication for either low aspiration or being too scared to take any actions for progression. To answer this, the echo replies with ¨start¨. In order to progress on this empty page, everyone must start somewhere and take that one small step. The voice then worries about the outcome of life by juxtaposing joy and grief. The echo replies that grief is an outcome of life because it is not trying to conceal the inevitable truth. This introduction presents the voice as being insecure and anxious as he tries to understand the meaning of life and an echo that is direct. The next four lines address death with symbolism and personification to establish the idea of not fearing the unknown future. In line 5, the voice talks about the life cycle ... • 13. We Define An Indoor Mobile Robot Essay We define {it verbalization} as the process by which an autonomous robot converts its own experience into language. We represent the variations in possible explanations for the same robot experience in the extit{verbalization space} (VS). Each region in verbalization space represents a different way to generate explanations to describe its experience, by providing different information as preferred by the user. In this work the process of verbalization has been discussed for describing our mobile service robot, CoBot s path. Note that this method can be expanded to other robot s experience as well. subsection{Environment Map and Route Plan} label{subsec:pathcomp} In order to compute a route verbalization, the verbalization algorithm requires an environment map with annotations representing high level locations of interest. We define an indoor mobile robot s map $M = langle P, E angle$ as set of points $p = (x,y,m) in P$ representing unique locations in our building where m represents the floor number and the name of the building, and edges $e = langle p_1, p_2, d, t angle in E$ that connect two points taking time $t$ to traverse distance $d$. Using our map, a route planner produces route plans as trajectories through our map. The route plan is composed of a starting point $S$, finish point $F$, an ordered list of intermediate waypoints $W subset P$, and a subset of edges in $E$ that connect $S$ to $F$ through $W$. • 16. Racial Diversity In Movies change. This is showing a failure in success for movie productions and TV shows because as time goes by so do people who have higher expectations for Hollywood. People begin to see that they are not showing enough diversity in movies or selecting Award winners that are from a different minority that makes it lose thousands of people from watching the show which is a failure money wise. To conclude, whitewashing has been another main problem in the Film industries as more movies come out with more diverse characters they are not always played by the type of minority the character is supposed to be. Researchers have stated that if things were to change within the TV productions then maybe there could be a change financially. There are many statistics that show that many shows and movies do not seem to grow and researchers have stated that it could be because of the lack of diversity that many people may get bothered by. However, the 25 movies with casts 21 to 30 percent Black/Latino/Asian had by far the highest median global box office, at $160.1 million. The next highest median global box office came from films with 11 to 20 percent Blacks/Latinos/Asians, at $75.5 million. The 88 films with the least diverse casts had a median global box office of just $68.5 million (Lin). This shows that if TV shows and movies were to change the racial diversity in their shows or movies that they could possibly have a high positive effect instead of continuing not to grow. Named after the Latin word cuneus or wedge shaped , cuneiform was recorded on clay tablets with pointed reed sticks. Archaeologists have located many of these tablets at various archaeological sites in modern day Iraq. Only highly educated Sumerian scribes could actually read and write cuneiform, creating social disparities between the educated rich and the laboring poor. Other early forms of writing, such as Akkadian, Babylonian, Assyrian, and Persian languages, were based on the principles of cuneiform. This early language provided the roots for other written languages all around the world (Nardo 81 84). Ziggurats were tall pyramid shaped buildings that served as templates for local Mesopotamian gods. With first versions built in Sumer in the later 4th millennium B.C. they evolved from a simple large platform to intricately designed, multi story buildings. These devices include the use of a songlike quality in dialogue and the telling of stories, the use of personification and metaphor to give an exotic quality to the play, and the use of certain elements to provide the reader with a sense of the mystic traditions that are Africa. For an officer to make an arrest, he or she must have more than a mere hunch yet less than actual knowledge that the arrestee committed the crime (Peak, 2009). Law enforcement officers need to make certain they understand probable cause is different than reasonable suspicion. A good example of a reasonable suspicion encounter is Terry V. Ohio, where an officer who had 39 years of experience in law enforcement observed two men standing on a street corner. It appeared based on the officer s experience the two men were casing a store because they both were walking up and down the street peering into the store windows, and then they would return to the corner to conference. There are four situations that Probable Cause is used; involving arrests with a warrant, arrests without a warrant, searched of items with a warrant, and searches of items without a warrant (V., D. C., Walker, J. T., 2015). Most of my encounters with individuals occurs on traffic stops; which require probable cause to stop them. My probable cause could be speeding, reckless driving or any traffic violation in the traffic law manual. Once probable cause is established then contact is made with the driver. If there is reason to believe that there is more than a traffic violation, such as an officer smelling marijuana inside the vehicle, then he or she can now have access into the vehicle. My probable cause to get into the vehicle is based on my training and experience that there was or is illegal narcotics inside the vehicle. If there is no probable cause to get into the vehicle and an officer feels there is more to the traffic stop than speeding, then the officer needs to build his reasonable suspicion to figure out what the driver is up to. • 21. Cultural Technology And Its Impact On Western Asia Cultural proximity is the nationally, rather locally developed content that is related and supports traditional identities concerning regional, ethnic, language, religion and other cultural components (Georgiou, 2012).Cultural proximity is related to Confucian which is a common cultural belief in East Asia that had been commonly used as a tool to enhance the consumption various idea including media content in the region. Chua (2004) argument that the commonness in Confucian basis to East Asia region culture as having been overtaken by a common popular cultural circulation via the media suggests that cultural proximity is not a major tool any more in determining the consumption of media content within the region. This can be explained by the current trend where everything is going in the global direction. With globalization and advancement in technology, local is going global and the global is attempting to become local or rather regional. In the modern world there are no boundaries for political, economic and cultural concepts overlap, converge, and collide beyond regional boundaries not only in the East Asia region but in the entire world. • 23. What Are The Similarities Between Cubism And Futurism Introduction The early Twentieth Century faced a series of movements that made an impact during that period. Two of these major movements are Cubism and Futurism, which contrast in their origins, philosophies, and method of creating art, their distinguishing characteristics, and method of relating the subject and viewer in time and space, as well as the artists involved and their unique artworks. By comparing both Movements, I will be able to distinguish the difference as well as the similarities between these movements and the impact they have in modern art. Cubism Which was an Early Twentieth Century Style and Movement in art, used more in paintings, which focussed more on the usage of geometric shapes, interlocking planes, and later at some point there was a usage of making a collage, was used or originated in Europe and then was later used in France. • 30. Gertude Stein And The Art Of Cubism Essay The Cubist painter renounced the work of artists who drew only what society wanted to view as art. Instead of painting for the appraisers of conventional art, Cubist painters assembled shapes and movement from different angles to create a completely innovative artistic perspective. Like the Cubist artist, Gertrude Stein, a modernist writer of the 20th century, rejected the expectations of a society that required writing to model the speech of the English language just as it required art to model the visions and still life images of everyday situations and experiences. The disconnected thought patterns within Stein s work are created mainly by the construction of unlikely associations between the words within each phrase, and also between the sections and their corresponding headings. Duchamp s painting also uses unlikely associations between what is seen initially when glancing at his work, and what the disjointed shapes and angles are meant to represent according to the title of the painting. • 40. The Struggle for Nuclear Power Nuke em The struggle for nuclear power has been a problem since the dawn of the nuclear age. Governments continue to use the threat of a nuclear attack as a deterrent. However, small terrorist groups may not feel threatened by a nuclear attack due to their mobility. Thus, the question remains; are nuclear weapons a necessary safety, or a danger. The solution is therefore to observe the pros and cons of nuclear capabilities, and to look at some precautions that can be taken to help protect people. The benefits of having nuclear weapons may not be quite as obvious as some of the downfalls of having such capabilities. The entire purpose of nuclear weapons is to act as a deterrent the countries possess these weapons but hope to never ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As long as the plug and the cylinder and the plug are separated, nothing happens. Both parts quietly emit a small amount of radiation, however, neither of the two pieces has enough mass to cause a serious reaction. Some Uranium atoms are reacting and producing radiation, but there are not any other atoms that are close enough for a chain reaction to start. However, when the two pieces are brought together, a violent reaction occurs. This happens because there is such a high density of Uranium that when one atom reacts it causes another atom to react and this sets off a chain reaction (Dr. Donald Nye). In a nuclear generator rods of Uranium, that are producing radiation, are inserted into giant tanks of water, the reaction occurring by the proximity of the Uranium atoms causes the rods to generate heat, this in turn heats the water producing steam. The steam is the used to push a turban, or something else to create work, which in turn gives us energy. There are also certain safety measures put in place in case of an emergency to help keep the Uranium from reaching critical mass. The fact that the rods are in water is mainly what keeps the explosion from happening and not as much Uranium is used. If there is an emergency lead panels will drop between the rods preventing the reaction from continuing to occur and cold water is pumped into the tanks ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Essay on Persian Gulf War The Persian Gulf is one of the few regions whose importance to the United States is obvious. The flow of Gulf oil will continue to be crucial to the economic well being of the industrialized world for the foreseeable future; developments in the Gulf will have a critical impact on issues ranging from Arab Israeli relations and religious extremism to terrorism and nuclear nonproliferation. Every president since Richard Nixon has recognized that ensuring Persian Gulf security and stability is a vital U.S. interest. The Clinton administration s strategy for achieving this goal during the president s first term was its attempted quot;dual containment quot; of Iraq and Iran. That makes it all the more essential that any adjustment in U.S. policy toward Iraq and Iran be preceded by extensive consultations with friendly Gulf leaders. Inadequate dialogue and unilateral action have caused some insecurity in the region and weakened trust in U.S. steadfastness. When the British withdrew from the Persian Gulf in 1971, the United States became the principal foreign power in the region. For almost three decades it has pursued the goal of preserving regional stability, using a variety of means to that end, particularly regarding the northern Gulf powers of Iraq and Iran. At first the United States relied on Iran as its chief regional proxy, supporting the shah s regime in the hope that it would be a source of stability. This policy collapsed in 1979 with the Iranian Revolution, when Iran switched from staunch ally to implacable foe. During the 1980s, the United States strove to maintain a de facto balance of power between Iraq and Iran so that neither would be able to achieve a regional hegemony that might threaten American interests. The United States provided some help to Iraq during the Iran Iraq War of 1980 88, moved in other ways to counter the spread of Iranian backed Islamic militancy, and provided with Israeli encouragement some help to Iran, ... • 42. Relationship Between Milk Market Participation In this chapter, we study the relationship between the milk market participation of smallholder households and women`s intra household bargaining power in Ethiopia. Our data show that household income is indeed substantially higher in milk market participating households (101 versus 49 birr daily). This higher income of participating households is almost completely earned by selling raw milk to the market. The other way of receiving milk income processing raw milk into butter and cottage cheese for sale at the local market is much less important in market participant households than in non participant households. This difference has important consequences for the distribution of income within the household. Milk income from the formal market is received and controlled by men (who sign the contract with the milk company), whereas income from the local market is received and controlled by women. The consequences for the intra household distribution of income are clearly reflected in our data. In milk market participant households, men`s milk income is on average 93 birr per day, whereas in non participant households men do not earn income from milk on a daily bases. Women tend to earn and control the entire dairy income in non participant households (34 birr per day), but earn only 4 birr milk income per day in market participant households. The central goal of the current study was to find out what the consequences of this change are for the bargaining position of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This of course is beneficial for both sides to arrange a resolution of the matter without either side taking the chance that the case may go against them if it was to go to trial. It was also proven in 1998, which 92 percent of the cases presented were returned by Manhattan grand juries. Statistic seems to support critics claims that the grand jury is little more than a rubber stamp The majority of theses cases are resolved through plea agreements; fewer than 10 percent actually get to trial, and of those, the Manhattan District Attorney s Office claims a conviction rate of 75 to 80 percent (Berger 31). Although plea bargaining may be beneficial, there are some people that may think that there are problems associated with it. Steven Silberblatt states, to be voluntary within the meaning of the Fifth Amendment a statement by a criminal defendant must be a product of free will, unencumbered by threats or promises. Coercion of any kind, whether physical or psychological is prohibited (Silberblatt).
