Thesis Statement For The Dust Bowl
= Topic sentence = Thesis Statement = Explanation = Quote
The dust storm was a hard decade for most people. People struggling to survive in the dark dust flying
around, making everyone sick and causing people to get serious diseases. My opinion is that, The Dust
Bowl negatively affected people who lived there in a personal way. The reasons are that diseases
spread around and dust was everywhere, life was hard during the Dust Bowl, and it was a depressing,
stressful time for people in the Dust Bowl and it was the worst man made disaster. During the dust
storm, a lot of diseases spreaded around and dust got everywhere. Those who inhaled the airborne

75% of the country and severely affect all of the prairie states . (30 Dust Bowl Facts: US History For

I. Clear Error Standard on Appeal For Subsidiary Factual Matters
A. Teva Pharm. USA, Inc. v. Sandoz, Inc., 135 S. Ct. 831 (2015) The Supreme Court held that when
reviewing a district court s resolution of subsidiary factual matters during patent claim construction,
the Federal Circuit must apply the clear error standard, not a de novo standard of review.
1. Background The owner of a patent covering a manufacturing method for a multiple sclerosis drug
brought an action against marketers of a generic version of the drug, alleging infringement. The
marketers filed counterclaims seeking declaratory judgment of non infringement, unenforceability,
and invalidity.

On the original appeal in this case, the Federal Circuit reversed and remanded the district court s
finding of indefiniteness under the premise that a claim is indefinite only when it is not amenable to
construction or insolubly ambiguous. The Supreme Court in Nautilus v. Biosig Instruments Inc. 134
S.Ct. 2120, 2124 (2014) in its decision articulated the standard A patent is invalid for indefiniteness if
its claims, read in light of the specification delineating the patent, and the prosecution history, fail to
inform, with reasonable certainty those skilled in the art about the scope of the invention.
In light of the new standard set forth by the Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit addressed only the
issue of indefiniteness on remand. The question before the court was whether the district court erred in
holding that the spaced relationship as recited in claim 1, and referring to the spacing between the
common and live electrodes, was not distinctly pointed out and particularly claimed in the patent in

The Importance Of Winston Churchill
World Wwar IItwo was one of the greatest and most important events in human history. It would
ultimately decide the world s fate. The world would either be in the hands of evil and perverted
science or it would be in the hands of a free and democratic society. Many men would play huge roles
in how the war would turn out. Men like Joseph Stalin, Franklin Roosevelt, Adolf Hitler, Benito
Mussolini, Charles De Gaulle, and Winston Churchill. Out of all of these men the one that did the
most and played the biggest role in World war two is Winston Churchill. Winston Churchill was the
most important man in Great Britain and the world because of his military decisions, his ability to

It really shows especially since the Germans surprised the world with there new military strategies.
Many countries would face the wrath of the German war machine by failing to adapt to this new style
of fighting its biggest victims to this was France, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Greece, and Yugoslavia.
But not Great Britain, Great Britain was one of the only countries to adapt to this new style of
fighting. Many say they were the fastest to adapt to the Blitzkrieg. It took the Soviets years whereas
the Brits would adapt even faster. Winston Churchill played a big role in this fast adaption he would
meet many important generals like Montgomery and discuss military strategies and how to change the
tide of the war with these strategies. They were even meeting in a shelter in london while it was being
bombarded just to change the tide of the war. Which also shows Churchill s determination to not give
in to his adversaries.
Churchill s Ability to lead under pressure and not give in to his enemies was a really important quality.
According to Leadership Geeks if Churchill had been like Neville Chamberlain We would have lost
the war due to weak leadership and the lack of assertiveness . Now although many say war could have
been avoided with Neville Chamberlain that would probably not happen. According to Adolf Hitler s

The Terrorist Attacks On The World Trade Center And The...
PTSD was originally conceptualized as a disorder of combat veterans. Unfortunately, societies all over
the world are being more and more exposed to war and its effects due to the increase of worldwide
terrorism. The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001
(9/11), exemplified a blend of extreme violence and man made disaster previously confined to the
battlefield. For American s terrorism was a new phenomena that brought the atrocities of war to
American cities. It is estimated that over 100,000 people directly witnessed the events of that day,
millions more around the world were exposed to horrifying scenes through the media (Perlman, et. al.,
2011). The attacks were followed by the continued threat of ensuing attack and the prospect of a
global war. Based on data obtained after the 1995 bombing of the Federal Building in Oklahoma City,
previously the deadliest act of terrorism in America, it was predicted that in approximately 35 percent
of those directly exposed to the 9/11 would develop PTSD (Perlman, et. al., 2011). Before the 9/11
attacks, studies of the prevalence of PTSD in the United States demonstrated that 5 to 6 percent of
men and 10 to 14 percent of women had had PTSD at some time in their lives, making it the fourth
most common psychiatric disorder. Data from general population surveys in New York City after the
9/11 terrorist attacks indicated substantial PTSD symptoms. Galea and colleagues (2002) found that

states his opinion/analysis of the magazine industry and the, small amount of diversity that is involved

explains it, and also supports it with many statistics and quotes from people involved in the industry.

explains that as the continuing explosion of hip hop has pushed many black artists into prominence,
and as teenagers magazines that are less anxious about race are bringing more diversity (227). This is
where he finds the support to present his theory of how the growing diversity in teen magazines will
spread, and that the generation of young consumers who have decided that race is much less important
than how hot a given celebrity s latest record or film is (230) Carr gives us his basic claim in little
detail in the beginning, and then uses the heart of the essay to give us a full detailed explanation of it.
Carr sets his essay up in an order that ties to his attitude and the way he appeals to his audience. He
gives you a basic description or outline of his claim to open the door, and then he takes his claim into

how and why he came to this belief. He uses many supporting facts, statistics, quotes, and logical
observations that help you realize what he is saying and to show why it s a problem. Carr shows that
he has evidence to support what he claims through the amount of research that he writes about. He
uses quotes from eleven different people, consisting of editors and authors from different magazines

Csc506 Week 1 Case Study Of Online Match Making
Abstract This case study will cover the CSC8506 group project and the networking that has been
implemented in this project. More specifically on the world view that is created for each client via the
networking constraints. This paper will particularly be looking at the networking techniques that have
been employed, and how they resolve problems of world view. World view is the state that the world
is in, and for optimal gameplay, all clients should have the same world view. I. INTRODUCTION

The games playabil ity increases dramatically. With the use of Pub Sub, players don t have to wait for
a full lobby being able to dive into the game. This also increases how fun the game is, if you want to
play the game you can, no need to wait. Accurate scoring allows for a more consistent and enjoyable
game, along with the fact that you don t even need a full lobby as AIs can take the place of humans to
keep the game going. World view is a very important aspect to gaming, and that is something that has
been sorted out cleanly within the project. VIII. CONCLUSION The use of C2S with a Pub Sub
internal net work has made it easily accessible to have 8 players across a network inside one game.
World view is consistent due to a synchro nised clock and information sent between brokers. These
brokers manage to dissemi nate the information among all the clients and the server correctly and
adequately so the game maintains a valid consistency. Again, the synchronised clock combats an age
old problem in networking, namely latency. The game is updated with knowledge of when the updates

document. Under LogCap III and Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), KBR built and maintained the

paper will be on the maintenance of housing and facilities for U.S. military personnel in the Iraqi
theater of operation.
Value Chain Considerations
In terms of LogCap III, to achieve sustainable competitive advantage, KBR must disaggregate the
value chain and focus on activities affecting cost, price, or both in relation to the services offered by
competitive rivals (Porte, 1985). Wherever possible, KBR should focus on differentiation by
providing value through a unique mix of services. For example, economies of scale, achieved through

Inbound logistics Property and materials are the lifeline for the continuing operations of base camps.
Tangible assets are considered to be property. Tangible property may include vehicles, tools,
generators, sanitation, sleeping containers, coolers for food and many other items. Materials include
consumables that are used to sustain day to day activities to complete the mission. Property and
material must be accounted for throughout the materials life cycle. Consequently, from the time a
purchase order is generated through consumption of materials, or disposition for property, each items
must be tracked through the approved system of record.
2. Operations Operations is the nerve center for the base camp. The site manager oversees the
operations of the base camp. The site manager coordinates KBR s services with the Mayors Cell. In
terms of O M, all service requests are initiated through the Service Desk controlled by operations.
3. Outbound logistics In a war zone, outbound operations are an extremely important aspect of the
mission. The timely delivery of property and materials, from outside vendors, may be challenging. As
a result, when the need arises, base camps and forward operating bases (FOB s) borrow materials from
one another. Consequently, outbound logistics is fundamentally important to the success of the
mission. Outbound logistic activities are initiated through a

Why Is Beethoven Important
Orchestra Assignment Ludwig van Beethoven was a German composer and pianist, and the
predominant musical figure in the transitional period between the Classical and Romantic eras. He
was born to musician Johann van Beethoven and Maria Magdalena van Beethoven, and though his
exact birthdate is unknown his family celebrated it on December 16, 1770. Having been practically
born into his profession, Beethoven exhibited strong musical development underneath the harsh
instruction of his father. He learned to play the violin and piano, and was often ordered to perform for
his father s drinking companions with the threat of a beating if he refused. Practice would sometimes
even last until morning. It is known that he began to attract attention as early as his adolescence due to
his superior musical skill. His most important teacher in Bonn was Christian Gottlob Neefe, a court
organist. Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No reliable accounts of this trip survived, however, and it can only be assumed that he did end up
studying with Mozart. His trip in Vienna was cut short when news reached him of his dying mother.
He returned to care for her, and she died several months later. Beethoven spent the next five years in
Bonn, where he made valuable acquaintances and taught a number of pupils. He composed a
significant number of unpublished works that exhibited his growing range and maturity as well. In
1790 Joseph Haydn was introduced Beethoven s work while travelling through Bonn and found it
impressive enough to offer to take him as a pupil. In 1792 he departed for Vienna and would never
return to Bonn again. He did not set to immediately establish himself as a composer, instead devoting
himself to study and performance. Though Haydn s pupil, he sought instruction from other talents as
well. Ignaz Schuppanzigh assisted him as he studied violin, and he also received occasional direction

Walden University
Abstract
We will discuss in this paper the data warehousing and the online processing of data. We will describe
the best ways to manage the data and the difficulties that you could face. Also we will talk about how
can we solve or reduce these difficulties.
Database Management Systems (DBMS)
Database Management Systems (DBMS) maximize:
● Data security
● Data integrity
● Data independence
Data Warehousing
Data warehousing is a powerful business intelligence tool for maximizing the organization s
investment in the information technology. It is can be describe as a collection of decision support
technologies, maid to allow executive, manager, and analyst, to make faster decisions.
IT managers need to learn and implement data warehousing because it is very powerful tool provides
storage, functionality and responsiveness to queries beyond the capabilities of today s databases. It
also improves the data access performance. Since it is very rare today to remove the data because most
users have only read access also rapid access to a larger volume of data which could be inconvenient
sometimes.
Software and systems support started to design systems to support decision makers as online
analytical processing (OLAP), decision support systems (DSS) and data mining.

Exposure and Behavoiral Therapies

Exposure and Behavioral Therapies
December 12, 2006
In psychotherapy there are many different ways that a therapist can decide how to treat a client. In my
paper I will discuss how Exposure Therapy and Behavioral Therapy work together with a client. I will
focus on the nature of the problem, the process of change, theory in practice, multicultural
considerations, and the types of clients and clinical problems.
The Nature of the Problem: In both Exposure and Behavioral Therapy the main focus is on anxiety.
These anxieties area conditioned response (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.238 264). In Exposure
Therapy and Behavioral Therapy the client avoids situation where there will be confrontation or fear
where it could be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Multicultural Considerations: Cultural differences may see exposure therapy as worse than the
disorder (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p.252). Therapist should show empathy with clients instead of
using terrifying visualization scenes for the client to deal with. In Exposure therapy the therapist s
empathy is used as a more freighting scene. Trauma victims in search of sensitivity, support, and
empowerment are provided more, higher decibel pain. When there is no empathic and caring
relationship between clinician and client, psychotherapy, is not worth doing (Prochaska Norcross,
2005, p. 252). In these therapies the therapist focuses on the behavior or feared stimulus, rather than
deal with feels as much. Feelings of anxiety will be talked about while the client is going through the
process of visualization, and at the end of the visualization to rate where their anxiety is. Strengths
include a collaborative relationship between therapist and client in working toward mutually agreed
upon goals, continual assessment to determine if the techniques are suited to clients unique situation,
assisting clients in learning practical skills, an educational focus, and stress on self management
strategies (Corey. 2005, p.485). With the client and therapist on the same page about how to work
through the anxiety they can determine together would be more productive and helpful for the client.
The therapist also needs to help the client with consequences

Contract Breach
1. Introduction
Breach of contract is when one or both parties, who came to a mutual agreement, do not fulfil their
contractual agreement i.e. interfering in the other party s performance or non performance by one or
both parties. These are only two of the possible five forms of Breach of Contract.
The five types of Breach of Contract will now be discussed in detail.
2. There are five different forms in which Breach of Contract can take place:
a. Default of the debtor (mora debitoris)
i. Explanation
Mora Debitoris means that a debtor has failed to adhere to the contractual agreement in a certain time
frame. Be it not making a payment or violating agreed conditions of the signed contract.

iii. Legal Remedies with assistance of the court:
The creditor may retain the defective performance and claim for damages suffered.
The creditor may decline the defective performance and claim that the contractual agreement be
fulfilled as was mutually agreed.
The creditor is allowed to cancel the contract subject to the creditor reserving himself the right of
cancellation (Lex commissoria). If the performance is so bad that it is not practical to uphold the
contract.
d. Repudiation
i. Explanation :
This is when one or both parties intend not to honour their obligations under the contract. This may
occur before, during or after the fixed date as contractually agreed. The behaviour of the guilty party
must clearly indicate that they do not intend to honour the agreement.
ii. Example:
A party may deny the existence of the agreement
OR
A party may try to withdraw from a contract without justification.
OR
A party may give notice that they cannot or will not perform.
iii. Legal Remedies with assistance of the court:
The innocent party may choose to ignore the repudiation.
The innocent party may claim fulfilment of the contract.
The innocent party may cancel the contract.
The innocent party may claim for damages suffered.
e. Prevention of performance (rendering performance impossible)

My Journey As A Spiritual Journey
Kaylan, I am scared I will not see you in heaven, my dad said to me crying one day. That is the very
moment that I reflect on when thinking about my spiritual pilgrimage. I had accepted Christ into my
life at a young age, but did not fully understand the depth of that relationship that I was entering into. I
made poor decisions my first two years in high school, and after realizing my choices I was making,
my dad questioned if I truly accepted Christ in the first place. I knew I had accepted Christ into my
life and received the gift of the Holy Spirit; however, I fell into temptation and quenched the Holy
Spirit when alerting me what I was doing was very wrong. My junior year was a year full of healing
and restoring for both me and my family. I believe that was the beginning of my spiritual pilgrimage
in that sense that I was finally understanding how to participate in the grace to grace relationship with
God. My parents quickly removed me from the public high school I was attending and placed me into
a small Christian high school. My youth group leader s wife, Mandy, was the math teacher, and she
quickly became my mentor for the next two years. I had met with her several times before, but was
never truly honest with her about my struggles and difficulties of understanding my relationship with
God. As we began to meet, she challenged me to reflect and understand the temptation that I fell in to,
but to also reflect on who I am in Christ and how to enter back into that

Comparing Dostoevsky s Crime And Punishment
Dostoevsky s Crime and Punishment: Suffering/Punishment Each individual can only tolerate a
certain amount of affliction before reaching his or her impending breaking point. Fyodor Dostoevsky s
Crime and Punishment expands on the idea that there is inevitable suffering and consequence inflicted
upon those who have committed crimes. The protagonist, Raskolnikov, believes himself above the
pedestrian population therefore granting him permission to eradicate or step over certain aspects in
order to proceed onto his path of bettering the public. Unfortunately for Raskolnikov, his theory is
deemed incorrect as he realizes he is unable to exemplify this extraordinary man and must,

The Pros And Cons Of The American Revolution
The American Revolution, although thought to be so, was not something that all the colonists of
America wanted to happen. The colonists fell under one of three opinions on independence: a patriot,
a loyalist, or a neutral. The patriots were completely done with Great Britain and wanted
independence. The loyalists wanted the colonies they lived in to remain a part of the glorious British
Empire. Lastly, the neutrals didn t know where they stood concerning independence, or didn t care.
Despite many arguments given by either side, patriot or loyalist, a copious amount of colonists didn t
have or want a side. The patriots and loyalists were both groups of people from the wealthier parts of
the colonies and the less prosperous colonists were usually neutrals. The patriots and loyalists were
constantly in a battle to gain more followers for their cause and propaganda sprang up all over the
colonies in the direction of the neutrals. The patriots were split into two groups, moderate and radical,
though they both wanted the same thing, independence from Great Britain. The radical patriots waged
a war between the colonies and their founder while the moderate patriots would have rather sat down
with the British and settled things verbally and peacefully. Out of the Patriots though, more were
radical than moderate, who were mostly members of the colonies governments. Just after the French
and Indian War, Great Britain was at the top of the world, broke. The war had taken almost

QT interval prolongation:

The Crying Of Lot 49 By Thomas Pynchon
Modernism Research Paper
Thomas Pynchon was born on May 8, 1937. He studied engineering physics and English at Cornell
University before taking a job as an engineering aide with the aircraft manufacturer Boeing in 1960.
The Crying of Lot 49, his second novel, was published in 1966 amid America s counterculture
movement. The novel s protagonist, Oedipa, attempts to reinstall some sense of order to her life and to
the increasingly disordered American mainstream by doggedly pursuing a conspiracy. Her efforts
ultimately prove futile, as America, and by extension the universe, continues to careen towards its fate
a state of complete chaos.

Essay about Disney s Global Struggles
The Walt Disney Organization has many different business units. For example the company produces
movies, television shows, a television network and music. It also has merchandise to support the
movies, music, and tv shows. Another entertainment sector of the business is the cruise lines,
adventure travel and amusement parks. The amusement parks are located in Paris, Tokyo, Hong Kong
and two locations in the United States, Florida and California. We will discuss the park history and
some of the challenges and accomplishments that Disney has faced expanding its parks globally.

Other than those accommodations lodging revenue was lost to independent hotels and motels in the
area that accommodated millions of visitors each year.
The second amusement park location was Florida. They purchased28,000 acres of land, enough for
plenty of park expansion, shopping and lodging (The Walt Disney Comany and Affliated Companies,
2011). The park opened in 1971 with the flagship Magic Kingdom Park. In 1982 they added the
futuristic park called the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow or EPCOT (The Walt
Disney Comany and Affliated Companies, 2011). In more recent years the Florida park have added
MGM Studios (now known as Hollywood Studios since the separation from MGM and Animal
Kingdom, Downtown Disney and two water parks. Walt Disney and the company had learned the
lesson from California about space and in Florida they still have plenty to expand and they have
dozens of hotels to host thousands of visitors. This became a destination vacation where families from
all over the world came, stayed and played at the parks.
The next venture was opening Disneyland in Tokyo. The company unsure of its first global park
expansion let Tokyo build and own it and Disney just took royalties on the park (Solomon Stranger,
1994). The park opened in 1983 and became a huge success even in the cooler climate. Disney learned
another lesson, always own the park

Contrasting the Aboriginal s View on the Environment and...
Aboriginal and non aboriginal people are un intentionally separated by many means. One such
example would be the way each use their land and how they manage it, and different land uses stem
from different values and morals. The biggest difference is that aborigines think of their environment
and its inhabitants no lower than themselves, they live with the environment, take care of it,
preserving the balance of ecosystems. Non aboriginal people, however, think less about everything
else and are more centred on their own wellbeing, comfort, and wealth.

In today s world, hardly any species of wildlife become extinct from natural causes. Europeans hunt
animals to such an extent that we classify it as overhunting. We destroy their habitat, and introduce
other animals that are a threat to endangered animals or are competition for resources and food.
Habitat destruction is the greatest threat to both animals and plants.
Deforestation of rainforests as such, physically kills of plant species, and these plants and the
environment they form are the habitats that are vastly inhabited by all types of living matter, from
elephants in the African jungles, to the beetles that live in logs. An approximation of extinct species of
mammals would be about 60, since 1600. 125 species of birds have also become extinct since then.
Currently, there are around 1000 to 1100 species of birds and mammals that are facing extinction, or
on the brink of extinction. Including plants and invertebrates too would bring this number to 20 000.
This is solely to do with the fact that Europeans use whatever land available to make way for
industrial, commercial and residential use.
Aboriginal fire management is when people use fire to manage their land and its forests. Leaves of
gum trees, contain flammable oils. Dead leaves and some branches fall of these trees and gather on the
ground for prolonged periods of time, which form a kind of fuel for bushfires. Instead of allowing the
fuel load to build up, aboriginals

What Is Etiquette Essay
1. INTRODUCTION/HISTORY
Since the beginning of recorded of history, manners have played an important role in behavior. Today
we shake hands atomically, but the custom started in the middle ages. When two men met, they
extended their right hands and shook hands to show that they did not intend to use their swords. It was
a display of courtesy and friendship.
What is the origin of the word etiquette? It comes from an old French word meaning ticket. Later it
came to mean a prescribed routine. Today, etiquette is defined as the forms, manner and ceremonies
established by convention as acceptable for required in business and society. It is a code of behavior
based on kindness consideration and unselfishness something that should never change. Francis Bacon
said, If a man can be gracious and courteous to strangers, it shows he is a citizen of the world. ... Show

As the motto of Winchester College at oxford, says: Manners make man.
The old; etiquettes books say things like, do not drink tea from a saucer, and, wipe your dirty hands on
bread in order not to soil the napkin. History shows that while specific customs may be abandoned,
having good manners will never go out of style.
2. Definitions
i. Using proper etiquettes does not mean that you are blocked up by someone or not modern. To me
having manners means you are a respectful person and considerate of others. Use of etiquettes can
convey respect of other cultures, traditions or religions.
Example:
Old people used to take handkerchief with them which is a good etiquettes but nowadays generation
of young people don t rely on that and take tissue papers with them which is also a good etiquette. ii.
Etiquettes are defined as formal manners and rules that are followed in society or professional
settings.

An Adventure of the Quantum Universe in Alice in...
The novel, Alice and Quantum Land, by Robert Gilmore is an adventure in the Quantum universe.
Alice, a normal teenage girl, goes through quantum land and understands what quantum is and how it
works. The quantum world is a difficult one to understand, as its nature is one of complex states of
being, natures, principles, notions, and the like. When these principles or concepts are compared with
the macro world, one can find great similarities and even greater dissimilarities between the world
wherein electrons rule, and the world wherein human beings live. In Alice in Quantumland, author
Robert Gilmore converts the original tale of Alice in Wonderland from a world of anthropomorphic

All in all, this idea is one of the more significant ideas in the book.
Moreover, the principle of superposition states that if the world can be in any configuration, any
possible arrangement of particles or fields, and if the world could also be in another configuration,
then the world can also be in a state which is a superposition of the two, where the amount of each
configuration that is in the superposition is specified by a complex number. Superposition is a
principle of quantum theory that describes a challenging concept about the nature and behavior of
matter and forces at the sub atomic level. The principle of superposition claims that while we do not
know what the state of any object is, it is actually in all possible states simultaneously, as long as we
don t look to check. It is the measurement itself that causes the object to be limited to a single
possibility. In the novel, the mechanic mentions to Alice the Schrodinger experiment. This experiment
was analogous to superposition in the macro world. Schrodinger s experiment was to put a cat, flask of
poisonous glass, and a mechanism to break the flask should substance decay in a closed box.
Mechanic then stated that the substance may or may not decay, therefore, according to the rules of
quantum physics you would have a superposition of states, in some of which the decay would have
happened and in others it would not. Of course,

The Tale Of Dracula, Or The Son Of The Dragon
Countless times the fictional story of the infamous Count Dracula has been told in treatises,
playwrights, novels, and also films. Dracula as a character has such an arduous lifestyle that it is
difficult to decipher between truth and myth. Although the narrative of Count Dracula is viewed as
only fiction, there is accuracy behind the legends. Vlad III s legacy sparked the lore of Count Dracula
because of the scarring childhood he endured, the torturous agony he caused upon others, and a
gruesome war.
Vlad III was born in November 14, 1431 in Sighisoara, Transylvania to Vlad Dracul and Princess

shaped him into the man he eventually came to be, Vlad the Impaler.
While Vlad Dracul was still on the Wallachian throne, John Hunyadi the Hungarian King, demanded
that Vlad Dracul shall promise to join the crusade against the Turks, but wanting to stay neutral he
sent Mircea instead. The Christian army was utterly destroyed in the Battle of Varna, John Hunyadi
managed to escape the battle under inglorious conditions. From this moment forward John Hunyadi
was bitterly hostile to Vlad Dracul and Mircea ( Vlad 4). In result to John Hunyadi s animosity, in
1447, he raided Wallachia and assassinated Vlad Dracul and Mircea with help of boyars and
merchants. Fearing the Hungarians would gain too much influence in Wallachia after the death of
Vlad Dracul, the Ottoman Turks forged ahead to Wallachia and put Vlad III on the throne as a puppet

One method used to obtain an estimate of the term structure of interest rates is called bootstrapping.
Suppose you have a one year zero coupon bond with a rate of r1 and a two year bond with an annual
coupon payment of C. To bootstrap the two year rate, you can set up the following equation for the
price (P) of the coupon bond: /(1+r_1 )+(C_2+Par value)/(1+r_2 )^2
Because you can observe all of the variables except r2, the spot rate for two years, you can solve for
this interest rate. Suppose there is a zero coupon bond with one year to maturity that sells for $949 and
a two year bond with a 7.5 percent coupon paid annually that sells for $1,020. What is the interest rate
for two years? Suppose a bond with three years until maturity and an 8.5 percent annual coupon sells

Network security has changed significantly over the past years. There is more and more data to
monitor and analyze in order to detect the activity of your data and systems. Securing a network has
many variables. Password authentication, network access, patches, anti virus protection, intrusion
detection, firewall and network monitoring tools are just a few of the things you can do to protect
yourself.
Threats to your network is becoming more complex and it is requiring lots of money, time and

are these wrong hands? The familiar term is hacker which Webster s dictionary describes as 3: an

level of network security is because of the bad part of the computer hacking world.
2. How to protect yourself? Protecting yourself is only effective if you know what you are protecting

is installing the default operating system. This would have a default password, no security patches and
no virus protection. The second thing you don t want to do is use simple and common passwords like
for example, password. In the 10 immutable laws below, one of the laws is someone is always trying

Growth Of Women In Professional Sports Essay
Introduction
As society has evolved through history, one of the great cultural and social issues has been the
equality of gender in all aspects of life. This development has been particularly true in both the United
States and Israel, where the position of women in society has moved forward from archaic ideals
towards building a foundation of gender equality. This foundation has been based on the belief that
individuals in society are entitled to human dignity and liberty, entitling them equal opportunities in
life. Equal opportunities for individuals can also be supported through economic reasoning. With
equal opportunities for both genders in the workforce, the entire population is more productive and the
economy is stronger. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Analysis Of A Stolen Life
On June 10th, 1991, eleven year old Jaycee Dugard was kidnapped, while walking to her bus stop, by
Phillip and Nancy Garrido. After using a stun gun and dragging her into their car, the Garrido s
proceeded to take Jaycee towards Anaheim, California. Once there, Jaycee lived in several rundown
buildings in the Garrido s backyard for eighteen long years. It was during that time that Jaycee
suffered multiple accounts of abuse, including sexual and emotional, and gave birth to two daughters.
During her stay at the Garrido s, Jaycee s life was stolen for more than half of the time she had been
breathing. However, in August of 2009, thanks to the help of two police officers, she was rescued.
After the rescue, Jaycee felt that it was important that she shared her story with other kidnapping,
abuse, and rape victims to help them know that they are not alone and to show others to never lose
hope. It is because of her thoughts, that Jaycee wrote her memoir, aptly titled A Stolen Life, which
follows her kidnapping story from her first day gone, to her recovery after being rescued. Throughout
the 268 pages of A Stolen Life, I was on an emotional roller coaster ride as Jaycee told her story
through her young eyes and left no details out. During one of the very first chapters in the memoir,
Jaycee describes the first time Phillip Garrido raped her. I am so small and he is so big. Why is he
doing this? Is this normal? (31) Jaycee recounts. Jaycee did not even have an idea of what sex

What´s Neonatal Jaundice
Neonatal jaundice is a common finding in the primary care setting, as almost all newborn infants will
develop an increased level of total serum or plasma bilirubin (TB) presenting as jaundice (Wong
Bhutani, 2013). The identification and treatment of severe neonatal jaundice is necessary to prevent
acute bilirubin encephalopathy and the chronic and permanent complication, kernicterus (American
Academy of Pediatrics [AAP], 2004). The laboratory implications for management of unconjugated
hyperbilirubinemia in term and late term infants ( 35 weeks gestation) after discharge home will now
be discussed. Risk assessment for jaundice should be performed on an infant before discharge from
the hospital, using TB or transcutaneous bilirubin and/or assessment of risk factors. Therefore, if the
TB is plotted on a nomogram prior to discharge, the PNP will have an idea about the infants risk for
developing hyperbilirubinemia at the initial newborn visit and can guide the need for laboratory
evaluation. If this is not available, the PNP should be aware of major risk factors for the development
of hyperbilirubinemia including jaundice present in the first 24 hours of life, blood group
incompatibility, gestational age of 35 36 weeks, sibling history of phototherapy, cephalohematoma or
significant bruising, exclusive breastfeeding, and East Asian race (AAP, 2004).
Recommendations for laboratory evaluation with a TB include every infant who is jaundiced in the
first 24 hours after birth,

Diversity In Colonial America Essay
History, it is the building block of the future. We as Americans have had a history like none other.
Diversity has always been a part of our history. In the past it has laid the base for flourishing cultures
and a feeling of belonging. In the present it has brought diversity through political parties, opportunity
for minorities, but also shortcomings and views of division. But if diversity can continue to flourish,
and if we can learn to compromise, our future will be abundant with progress and peace.
The diversity of America s past has laid the foundation for the flourishing culture we have today. Even
in colonial America, we were one of the most diverse places in the world. The first federal census in
1790 recorded that one fifth of the entire population was African American. Those that composed the
white populations had ancestries of three fifths were English, one fifth Scottish or Irish, and rest was
of Dutch, French, German, Swedish, or other backgrounds. With such a varied foundation, it s no
surprise that those who came here felt a feeling of belonging in the new land. The belonging and
acceptance did not stop at ethnicity but extended to religion as well. In fact, in colonial America, there
were religious groups such as the Pilgrims, Separatists, Anglicans, Catholics, Puritans, Quakers,
Lutherans, Jews, Baptists, and others. With so many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Successful Formation Of A New Colony
Before organizing a colony, it is important to gain perspective and understand where colonies before
when right and where they also went wrong. Learning from their mistakes and capitalizing on the
positive aspects of different colonies can lead to the successful formation of a new colony in Illinois.
From what we already know, each colony in the New World was for the most part different. Some
were driven by religious ideas others were driven by the prospect of wealth. While colonies shared
some similarities, each had its own set of rules, policies, and way of life. Colonies such as
Pennsylvania and Massachusetts were vastly different even though they were both northern colonies
and religion was a driving force in the development of their colonies. There were also colonies that
were developed in hopes that prosperity was to be had by means of trade and cultivation. This
capitalist model was used by the colonies of Virginia and New Netherland (New York). However there
were colonies that simply did things their own way that was separate from everyone else. One of those
colonies were Carolina, which was setup by eight proprietors, businessmen, who hoped to rule every
aspect of their colony from government to religion this was now as the feudal model. The other colony
was Georgia, who took English debtors to work off their debts as part of their colony and as a hope to
alleviate the overpopulation in British settlements in the Caribbean, this was the philanthropical
model. These

Women In A Scandal In Bohemia And King Solomon s Mines
In both Sir Arthur Conan Doyle s, A Scandal in Bohemia (1891), and H. Rider Haggard s, King
Solomon s Mines (1885), male figures utilize the femme fatale image of the monstrous feminine to
concretize or reaffirm views of a dominant patriarchal power (OED). Specifically, characters such as
Sherlock Holmes and Allan Quartermain, subsequently attempt to debase the influences of female
manipulation and superiority. The expression of this thematic trend occurs primarily through the
tension of ignorance versus insight, and the recurring images of dehumanization. As such, these tropes
express within each text the attempts of men to degrade women s inherent authority.
When considering Irene Adler, from A Scandal in Bohemia, and Gagool, from King Solomon s Mines,
the tension of ignorance versus insight is essential in preliminarily introducing the characters position
within the femme fatale role. Just as a femme fatale is by definition a woman, who destabilizes male
control, both Adler and Gagool use their exclusive access to information to subvert male desires and
boundaries of class (OED). For instance, Irene Adler exploits her possession of compromising letters
and photographs to blackmail the King of Bohemia and so, ruin (him) by jeopardizing his marriage to
another woman (Doyle, A Scandal in Bohemia). Thereby, she exemplifies the image of the femme
fatale by threatening the monarchy s stability with issues of scandal while, alternately, ensuring that

Key Differences Between Common Law And Civil Law
In Common Law and Civil Law the Key differences are that civil law is based on legislation while
common law is based on court decisions. If you look at the history of Law, you will see that civil law
stems back from as early as the 3rd century BC, it included various forms of law systems, from
Roman law, Germanic and local customs, cannon law, and the international law merchant. Civil law is
coded, encompassing all aspects of civil law, from procedural, to substantive and penal law. Civil law
is reflected in decision making as it s primarily legislative.
Common Law is based on custom and practice, derived from English history, which is reflected in
court decisions with the reliance of precedence. The role of the judicial in law making ... Show more

They come to this reasoning by other examples of civil law lawyer s reason supposedly by deductive,

movement of from specific case to the general rule.
It can be said that maybe this reasoning has some merit to it, when comparing the differences and
likeness of both legal systems, which in the end is the same, an outcome, hopefully a fair and just one.
Further research show the attempts to compare the way a common law lawyer and a civil law lawyer
both interprets a written law. In this attempt to compare, it goes on to explain just how different their
techniques are at applying rules and principles on how the law interprets a statutory.
When a judge interprets a statute, he/she is merely approaching it from either a textual, historical or
functional stance, in order to find a solution to the problem presented to the court. In comparing a civil
law lawyer to a common law lawyer, one must look at ones methodology, how a legal scholar goes
about finding information regarding a factual case.
The rule of law in a general and practical sense is usually abided by most people in society, and we
view that the role of the judicial system is there to be guided by these rules. The role of lawyers,
judges and the courts in both civil law and

Ezra Pound And Modernist Poetry
The following poems share a similar theme: Ezra Pound s A Few Don ts, Wallace Stevens Of Modern
Poetry, Archibald Macleish s Ars Poetica, and Marianne Moore s Poetry. Each of these authors felt
they had discovered superlative methods to write the most powerful poetry. However, the details and
methods which each author used varied from one another. Born in 1885, Ezra pound is known as one
of Modernist poetry s biggest contributors. His poetry of the early 20th century was unconventional
and controversial for its time. He studied endlessly to understand every facet of poetry and pave his

His poetry is experimental and was influenced by the works of numerous modernist poets. As he aged,
his poems developed to be more traditional. Many of his works in the 1930 s analyzed social and
political issues that plagued the world during this period. Ars Poetica challenges how one interprets
their own reality, and his own guidelines to powerful poetry. He uses strong, apt images to convey his
points. MacLeish believes a poem should be worldess As the flight of birds (MacLeish 789). This
poem is much more abstract than the other two, but shares the same theme of trying to connect to the
reader and illicit strong feelings. MacLeish believes that A poem should not mean But be (MacLeish
790). A poem should speak for itself and use strong images for the reader to ponder. This leaves the
poem more open to interpretation and discussion. Marianne Moore was born in Missouri in 1887. She
was a modernist poet; however, the subjects which she chose to write about differed from the average
modernist. Most modernist poetry during this time was centered around the state of modern
civilization. Moore chose to center her poetry around animals, nature, and poetry itself. Her poem
Poetry starts off somewhat perplexing when she states I, too, dislike it: there are things that are

This is because of the nature of Mogen s business, wherein most of the company s assets are
intangibles, which is typical of a risky company. This makes issuance of straight debt more expensive
at around 5.75%, as the market will demand higher premium.
Given the above market perception of risk and growth opportunity, issuing a convertible bond is
appropriate because it would allow the company to raise capital at more advantageous terms than it
would when it issues straight debt. Investors would be willing to supply funds at a lower rate if they
can have the opportunity to benefit from the upside potential of the stock. Hence, the value of
convertible bonds becomes insensitive to the risk of the company. Investors would not be materially
affected if the company becomes more volatile as a result of added risk in the future because the call
option value of the convertible bond will likewise increase. Upside returns due to increase in risk will
also accrue to investors holding a convertible bond, while having a downside protection because of the
part debt nature of the convertible.
What is the method used to calculate the coupon rate?
We first derive the implied volatility of Mogen s stock using the Black Scholes option pricing model
The implied volatility of each of the eight outstanding options on MoGen s stock was obtained using
the following information on Exhibit 3 type of option, days to maturity in years, exercise price and

Inmate Care Problem
Medical problems do not magically disappear once someone has been incarcerated. If anything, I
believe they are more prevalent within corrections. I say that because the first thing said from many
people I arrest is, I need to see a doctor and get my medications. I have even arrested people who
openly told me the reason they broke the law is so they could get free medical attention, such as
surgery or dental work. This not only hurts the budget of a jail or prison, but also the pockets of
taxpayers. According to York, Inmate health care costs are on the rise. This is not surprising knowing
that a great percentage of the inmate population is involved in a risky life of drugs, drinking,
unprotected sex and improper health habits. The cost of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When looking at medical problems reported, females were more probable to report a medical problem
versus male inmates. In addition, females are more likely to report two or more medical problems
versus male inmates. I can relate to this first hand, because many women I have arrested stated that
they were pregnant or they have back issues. Even though prior to coming to jail, they were drinking,
taking drugs, and failed to mention they were pregnant or had back issues. This report also showed as
the age of the inmate increases so does the likelihood of a medical problem being reported. In
addition, hearing and visions reports also increase with age. Leaning, speech, hearing, vision,
mobility, and mental impairment are the six impairments that are reported by inmates. Both male and
female inmates were equal in reporting of having at least one of the six impairments. When it comes
to mental impairment, females were more likely to report than males. Injuries will occur within
prisons, whether accidental or because of fighting. The report shows that both state and federal
inmates are more likely to report accidental injuries versus fight related

Differences Between Jefferson And Madison In The 1790s
Although Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton fought bitterly over issues of constitutional
interpretation in the 1790s, the policies of the Jeffersonian Republican presidents Jefferson and
Madison in the years 1801 1817 often reflected the beliefs of the Federalist Hamilton. During there
presidencies, their economic and political policies did not reflect their personal beliefs, but instead
reflected Federalist beliefs including Jefferson calling for the Embargo Act and Madison calling for
the Tariff of 1816. Before their presidencies, Jefferson and Madison were both non interventionist
which meant they wanted to avoid war. However, during Jefferson s presidency the Tripolitan Wars
occurred, and during Madison s presidency the War of 1812 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

because there was no specific authorization in the Constitution that permitted the federal government
to create a bank. Jefferson believed in strict construction of the Constitution which means that
everything in the constitution is taken literally. He used the 10th amendment for support of his
argument because the 10th amendment stated that any power not given to the federal government in
the Constitution belongs to the state (Document A). However, when Jefferson becomes president in
1801, he maintained the Bank of the U.S. This shows how when he was president, he kept Federalist

My Life Of Juana
Juana was forced to leave Mexico by her parents because they wanted a superior life for her which left
her heartbroken. Many migrate to the U.S for a better life, but for Juana, this was her biggest fear. She
loved the country she was born in, and the city that build her. However, she realized how amazing it is
to face a new world and the mysteries you can discover. She was living in a world filled with joy,
laughter, and peace. Her childhood was her favorite memorable moment in Mexico. I remember
during the summer; the flowers would bloom and together with my friends would create a different
design with each flower we found. said Juana. The smell of tortillas was her favorite smell of the
entire world, so every time she smelled a tortilla she felt right at home. She lived in a ranch close to a
city called Dolores Hidalgo. The ranch that Juana was from were a lot of trees covered in dust, and
there was a stream where they would wash their clothes and they would take showers. The ranch was
about 4 acres, she lived with 2 older brothers. The house they lived in was a simple house made of
adobe. Dolores Hidalgo was the nearest city to their home. The city that s filled with beautiful trees
and music. Juana would of never imagine of leaving her best loved city.
Juana s parents didn t want her to have a rough life even if she felt like she was in the right place to
live. At the age of 21 Juana was told she was going to face a new life and she immediately poured
tears. The immigration security guard glared at Juana and asked, Why are you coming to the Unites
States? Juana looked at him with innocence and spoke, My parents are going to visit some family
members. The guard looked at her parents and said, Okay, let me see your visas in a vociferous voice.
Juana stared at the guard and her heartbeat began to increase, not from running but from the
anxiousness. The guard looked at Juana in the eyes and spoke with confidence, I m so sorry but you
and your parents can t leave the country , Juana immediately grinned. Juana s parents were told they
needed more documents, so Juana was still at risk on leaving her country. She ran and told everyone
the news, Juana was happier than ever. 2 Years went by and

Superpowers in WOrld War II
In World War, two great superpowers in Europe, Germany and Britain clashed through aerial warfare.
Hitler planned to lead the invasion of Britain with the Luftwaffe through intensive attacks against the
Royal Air Force in England. Britain was the only nation left standing against the Germans after France
was forced to sign an armistice on June 22, 1940; Hitler knew that air power was the only way to
reach the isolated island nation. The Battle of Britain lasted from mid June, when Hitler launched
Operation Sea Lion, codenamed as such for the invasion of England, to mid September of 1940, when
Operation Sea Lion was postponed indefinitely. The Second World War went from September 1st,
1939 to September 2nd, 1945. The German Luftwaffe had a substantial impact on the military,
economic and social systems of Britain throughout the Second World War. Britain s air force was a
vital part of their military and defence when Hitler attempted to gain air superiority over England
through the German Luftwaffe which was led by Hermann Göering. The radar system used to detect
aerial attack in Britain was flawed in the beginning of the war and there was a shortage of anti air craft
guns. Radar could not predict the size and height of incoming enemy bombers and lacked detail that
was necessary and vital for effective defence preparations. At the start of the Blitz, there were only 92
anti air craft guns to defend London and the guns were outdated with a terrible fire control system.

Parental Isolation In Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Letting problems fester can lead to a domino effect. Many of the problems that come from parental
abandonment and isolation from the world, are the inability to handle problems. In Frankenstein, the
monster is unable to handle situations the correct way, leading to him killing multiple people
throughout the book. The creature s only thoughts are to get revenge on his creator, and he feels as if
he only has two options of what to do with his life. ...if I cannot inspire love, I will cause fear;
(Frankenstein 129). The monster goes around killing the people close to Victor just to exact revenge
on him. First the monster starts off by killing Victor s younger brother, William, in the woods. The
monster does have reasons to be angry at Victor, those being Victor abandoning him and also
destroying the wife that he was creating for him. His ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

People struggling to survive in the dark dust flying around, making everyone sick and causing people to get serious diseases. My opinion is that, The Dust Bowl negatively affected people who lived there in a personal way. The reasons are that diseases spread around and dust was everywhere, life was hard during the Dust Bowl, and it was a depressing, stressful time for people in the Dust Bowl and it was the worst man made disaster. Ct. 831 (2015) The Supreme Court held that when reviewing a district court s resolution of subsidiary factual matters during patent claim construction, the Federal Circuit must apply the clear error standard, not a de novo standard of review. 1. Background The owner of a patent covering a manufacturing method for a multiple sclerosis drug brought an action against marketers of a generic version of the drug, alleging infringement. The marketers filed counterclaims seeking declaratory judgment of non infringement, unenforceability, and invalidity. On the original appeal in this case, the Federal Circuit reversed and remanded the district court s finding of indefiniteness under the premise that a claim is indefinite only when it is not amenable to construction or insolubly ambiguous. The Supreme Court in Nautilus v. Biosig Instruments Inc. 134 S.Ct. 2120, 2124 (2014) in its decision articulated the standard A patent is invalid for indefiniteness if its claims, read in light of the specification delineating the patent, and the prosecution history, fail to inform, with reasonable certainty those skilled in the art about the scope of the invention. In light of the new standard set forth by the Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit addressed only the issue of indefiniteness on remand. The world would either be in the hands of evil and perverted science or it would be in the hands of a free and democratic society. Many men would play huge roles in how the war would turn out. Men like Joseph Stalin, Franklin Roosevelt, Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini, Charles De Gaulle, and Winston Churchill. Out of all of these men the one that did the most and played the biggest role in World war two is Winston Churchill. Many countries would face the wrath of the German war machine by failing to adapt to this new style of fighting its biggest victims to this was France, Poland, Denmark, Norway, Greece, and Yugoslavia. But not Great Britain, Great Britain was one of the only countries to adapt to this new style of fighting. Many say they were the fastest to adapt to the Blitzkrieg. It took the Soviets years whereas the Brits would adapt even faster. Winston Churchill played a big role in this fast adaption he would meet many important generals like Montgomery and discuss military strategies and how to change the tide of the war with these strategies. They were even meeting in a shelter in london while it was being bombarded just to change the tide of the war. Which also shows Churchill s determination to not give in to his adversaries. Churchill s Ability to lead under pressure and not give in to his enemies was a really important quality. According to Leadership Geeks if Churchill had been like Neville Chamberlain We would have lost the war due to weak leadership and the lack of assertiveness . • 5. The Terrorist Attacks On The World Trade Center And The... PTSD was originally conceptualized as a disorder of combat veterans. Unfortunately, societies all over the world are being more and more exposed to war and its effects due to the increase of worldwide terrorism. The terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001 (9/11), exemplified a blend of extreme violence and man made disaster previously confined to the battlefield. For American s terrorism was a new phenomena that brought the atrocities of war to American cities. It is estimated that over 100,000 people directly witnessed the events of that day, millions more around the world were exposed to horrifying scenes through the media (Perlman, et. al., 2011). The attacks were followed by the continued threat of ensuing attack and the prospect of a global war. Based on data obtained after the 1995 bombing of the Federal Building in Oklahoma City, previously the deadliest act of terrorism in America, it was predicted that in approximately 35 percent of those directly exposed to the 9/11 would develop PTSD (Perlman, et. al., 2011). Before the 9/11 attacks, studies of the prevalence of PTSD in the United States demonstrated that 5 to 6 percent of men and 10 to 14 percent of women had had PTSD at some time in their lives, making it the fourth most common psychiatric disorder. Data from general population surveys in New York City after the 9/11 terrorist attacks indicated substantial PTSD symptoms. Galea and colleagues (2002) found that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He was born to musician Johann van Beethoven and Maria Magdalena van Beethoven, and though his exact birthdate is unknown his family celebrated it on December 16, 1770. In Exposure therapy the therapist s empathy is used as a more freighting scene. Trauma victims in search of sensitivity, support, and empowerment are provided more, higher decibel pain. When there is no empathic and caring relationship between clinician and client, psychotherapy, is not worth doing (Prochaska Norcross, 2005, p. 252). That is the very moment that I reflect on when thinking about my spiritual pilgrimage. I had accepted Christ into my life at a young age, but did not fully understand the depth of that relationship that I was entering into. I knew I had accepted Christ into my life and received the gift of the Holy Spirit; however, I fell into temptation and quenched the Holy Spirit when alerting me what I was doing was very wrong. My junior year was a year full of healing and restoring for both me and my family. I believe that was the beginning of my spiritual pilgrimage in that sense that I was finally understanding how to participate in the grace to grace relationship with God. My parents quickly removed me from the public high school I was attending and placed me into a small Christian high school. My youth group leader s wife, Mandy, was the math teacher, and she quickly became my mentor for the next two years. I had met with her several times before, but was never truly honest with her about my struggles and difficulties of understanding my relationship with God. The colonists fell under one of three opinions on independence: a patriot, a loyalist, or a neutral. The patriots were completely done with Great Britain and wanted independence. The loyalists wanted the colonies they lived in to remain a part of the glorious British Empire. Lastly, the neutrals didn t know where they stood concerning independence, or didn t care. Despite many arguments given by either side, patriot or loyalist, a copious amount of colonists didn t have or want a side. The patriots and loyalists were both groups of people from the wealthier parts of the colonies and the less prosperous colonists were usually neutrals. The patriots and loyalists were constantly in a battle to gain more followers for their cause and propaganda sprang up all over the colonies in the direction of the neutrals. The patriots were split into two groups, moderate and radical, though they both wanted the same thing, independence from Great Britain. The radical patriots waged a war between the colonies and their founder while the moderate patriots would have rather sat down with the British and settled things verbally and peacefully. He studied engineering physics and English at Cornell University before taking a job as an engineering aide with the aircraft manufacturer Boeing in 1960. The Crying of Lot 49, his second novel, was published in 1966 amid America s counterculture movement. The novel s protagonist, Oedipa, attempts to reinstall some sense of order to her life and to the increasingly disordered American mainstream by doggedly pursuing a conspiracy. The principle of superposition claims that while we do not know what the state of any object is, it is actually in all possible states simultaneously, as long as we don t look to check. It is the measurement itself that causes the object to be limited to a single possibility. In the novel, the mechanic mentions to Alice the Schrodinger experiment. What´s Neonatal Jaundice Neonatal jaundice is a common finding in the primary care setting, as almost all newborn infants will develop an increased level of total serum or plasma bilirubin (TB) presenting as jaundice (Wong Bhutani, 2013). The identification and treatment of severe neonatal jaundice is necessary to prevent acute bilirubin encephalopathy and the chronic and permanent complication, kernicterus (American Academy of Pediatrics [AAP], 2004). The laboratory implications for management of unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia in term and late term infants ( 35 weeks gestation) after discharge home will now be discussed. Risk assessment for jaundice should be performed on an infant before discharge from the hospital, using TB or transcutaneous bilirubin and/or assessment of risk factors. Therefore, if the TB is plotted on a nomogram prior to discharge, the PNP will have an idea about the infants risk for developing hyperbilirubinemia at the initial newborn visit and can guide the need for laboratory evaluation. If this is not available, the PNP should be aware of major risk factors for the development of hyperbilirubinemia including jaundice present in the first 24 hours of life, blood group incompatibility, gestational age of 35 36 weeks, sibling history of phototherapy, cephalohematoma or significant bruising, exclusive breastfeeding, and East Asian race (AAP, 2004). Learning from their mistakes and capitalizing on the positive aspects of different colonies can lead to the successful formation of a new colony in Illinois. From what we already know, each colony in the New World was for the most part different. Some were driven by religious ideas others were driven by the prospect of wealth. Rider Haggard s, King Solomon s Mines (1885), male figures utilize the femme fatale image of the monstrous feminine to concretize or reaffirm views of a dominant patriarchal power (OED). Specifically, characters such as Sherlock Holmes and Allan Quartermain, subsequently attempt to debase the influences of female manipulation and superiority. The expression of this thematic trend occurs primarily through the tension of ignorance versus insight, and the recurring images of dehumanization. As such, these tropes express within each text the attempts of men to degrade women s inherent authority. When considering Irene Adler, from A Scandal in Bohemia, and Gagool, from King Solomon s Mines, the tension of ignorance versus insight is essential in preliminarily introducing the characters position within the femme fatale role. Just as a femme fatale is by definition a woman, who destabilizes male control, both Adler and Gagool use their exclusive access to information to subvert male desires and boundaries of class (OED). For instance, Irene Adler exploits her possession of compromising letters and photographs to blackmail the King of Bohemia and so, ruin (him) by jeopardizing his marriage to another woman (Doyle, A Scandal in Bohemia). As he aged, his poems developed to be more traditional. Many of his works in the 1930 s analyzed social and political issues that plagued the world during this period. Ars Poetica challenges how one interprets their own reality, and his own guidelines to powerful poetry. He uses strong, apt images to convey his points. MacLeish believes a poem should be worldess As the flight of birds (MacLeish 789). This poem is much more abstract than the other two, but shares the same theme of trying to connect to the reader and illicit strong feelings. MacLeish believes that A poem should not mean But be (MacLeish 790). A poem should speak for itself and use strong images for the reader to ponder. This leaves the poem more open to interpretation and discussion. Marianne Moore was born in Missouri in 1887. She was a modernist poet; however, the subjects which she chose to write about differed from the average modernist. Most modernist poetry during this time was centered around the state of modern civilization. Moore chose to center her poetry around animals, nature, and poetry itself. Her poem Poetry starts off somewhat perplexing when she states I, too, dislike it: there are things that are important beyond all this fiddle (Moore 791). This is demonstrating irony, because ... We deemed it appropriate to walk you through the analytical process in coming up with the right mix of conversion premium and coupon rate. We initially consider a conversion premium of 25% and determine its corresponding coupon rate. We then explore the appropriateness of such a premium and explore other conversion premium coupon rate combinations and determine which combination would be optimal for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is because of the nature of Mogen s business, wherein most of the company s assets are intangibles, which is typical of a risky company. This makes issuance of straight debt more expensive at around 5.75%, as the market will demand higher premium. Given the above market perception of risk and growth opportunity, issuing a convertible bond is appropriate because it would allow the company to raise capital at more advantageous terms than it would when it issues straight debt. Investors would be willing to supply funds at a lower rate if they can have the opportunity to benefit from the upside potential of the stock. Hence, the value of convertible bonds becomes insensitive to the risk of the company. Investors would not be materially affected if the company becomes more volatile as a result of added risk in the future because the call option value of the convertible bond will likewise increase. Upside returns due to increase in risk will also accrue to investors holding a convertible bond, while having a downside protection because of the part debt nature of the convertible. What is the method used to calculate the coupon rate? We first derive the implied volatility of Mogen s stock using the Black Scholes option pricing model The implied volatility of each of the eight outstanding options on MoGen s stock was obtained using the following information on Exhibit 3 type of option, days to maturity in years, exercise price and closing ... I say that because the first thing said from many people I arrest is, I need to see a doctor and get my medications. I have even arrested people who openly told me the reason they broke the law is so they could get free medical attention, such as surgery or dental work. This not only hurts the budget of a jail or prison, but also the pockets of taxpayers. According to York, Inmate health care costs are on the rise. This is not surprising knowing that a great percentage of the inmate population is involved in a risky life of drugs, drinking, unprotected sex and improper health habits. The cost of ... In addition, females are more likely to report two or more medical problems versus male inmates. I can relate to this first hand, because many women I have arrested stated that they were pregnant or they have back issues. Even though prior to coming to jail, they were drinking, taking drugs, and failed to mention they were pregnant or had back issues. This report also showed as the age of the inmate increases so does the likelihood of a medical problem being reported. In addition, hearing and visions reports also increase with age. Leaning, speech, hearing, vision, mobility, and mental impairment are the six impairments that are reported by inmates. Both male and female inmates were equal in reporting of having at least one of the six impairments. When it comes to mental impairment, females were more likely to report than males. During there presidencies, their economic and political policies did not reflect their personal beliefs, but instead reflected Federalist beliefs including Jefferson calling for the Embargo Act and Madison calling for the Tariff of 1816. • 44. Superpowers in WOrld War II In World War, two great superpowers in Europe, Germany and Britain clashed through aerial warfare. Hitler planned to lead the invasion of Britain with the Luftwaffe through intensive attacks against the Royal Air Force in England. Britain was the only nation left standing against the Germans after France was forced to sign an armistice on June 22, 1940; Hitler knew that air power was the only way to reach the isolated island nation. The Battle of Britain lasted from mid June, when Hitler launched Operation Sea Lion, codenamed as such for the invasion of England, to mid September of 1940, when Operation Sea Lion was postponed indefinitely. The Second World War went from September 1st, 1939 to September 2nd, 1945. The German Luftwaffe had a substantial impact on the military, economic and social systems of Britain throughout the Second World War. Britain s air force was a vital part of their military and defence when Hitler attempted to gain air superiority over England through the German Luftwaffe which was led by Hermann Göering. The radar system used to detect aerial attack in Britain was flawed in the beginning of the war and there was a shortage of anti air craft guns. Radar could not predict the size and height of incoming enemy bombers and lacked detail that was necessary and vital for effective defence preparations. At the start of the Blitz, there were only 92 anti air craft guns to defend London and the guns were outdated with a terrible fire control system. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
