Effective Leadership Management
Leadership Effectiveness
What is leadership? A leader is one who influences others to attain goals. The greater the number of
followers correlates to the greater the influence. Additionally, the more successful the attainment of
worthy goals, the more evident is the leadership. However, one must explore beyond this bare
definition to capture the excitement and intrigue that devoted followers and students of leadership feel
when they see a great leader in action. Therefore, employees should seek to understand what
organizational leaders really do and to learn what it really takes to become a truly outstanding leader.
Theories Models
Outstanding leaders combine good strategic substance and effective interpersonal processes to
formulate and implement strategies that produce results and sustainable competitive advantage.
Hence, it is a little overwhelming, especially when inundated with numerous theories about leadership
such as, X Y theory, path goal theory, charismatic, traits theory, Vroom model, and contingency theory,
etc... Additionally, numerous leadership styles exist in which a manager can employ, such as laissez
faire, transformational, employee centered, tasks centered, close supervision, participative,
democratic, or autocratic (Elliott 2011).
Transactional Leadership
The transactional leadership theory is one, which is most widespread and commonly used in most
organizations (e.g. military). It is based on transactions or deals made between an employee and an

Pros Of Laser Surgery
The placement of the eye itself allows us to see length, depth, width, and distance of any object. The
eye is made up of three layers. The layers in particular are; the sclera, choroid, and the retina. Deriving
from website source, The sclera is a dense, white, fibrous membrane that, with the cornea, forms the
external covering of the eyeball. The choroid is like the chorion; membranous. The retina is the
innermost coat of the posterior part of the eyeball that receives the image produced by the lens, is
continuous with the optic nerve, and consists of several layers, one of which contains the rods and
cones that are sensitive to light. The sclera also maintains the shape of the eye. The sclera has muscles
attached to it that controls the movement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These views are deriving from a youtube video. A pro of laser surgery is it decreases the use of glasses
and or contact lenses. You won t have to depend on them as much. I can recall when I was in Jackson
for Blue White weekend. I didn t bring my glasses and I lost one of my contact lenses, I couldn t see
anything. I couldn t see my band, I couldn t drive back home, it was just sad. However if I would have
had a laser surgery done in the past, I wouldn t have had that problem. So that is one pro of having a
laser surgery that I can relate too. The first con of the laser eye surgery is the cost. Having a laser eye
surgery done is very expensive, so that is always a con and a big factor when it comes down to pros
and cons. Another con is that it is possible to have an eye infection in your cornea. Another con is, the
flap of your cornea that is being cut could potentially fall off. It is also possible that the cornea can
heal inappropriately. The cut can grow underneath the flap, which could cause eye problems, as well
as vision problems. Of Course there is no surgery that is completely risk free, however the eye is so
sensitive it s hard to even think about it. But this is how the eye functions, and this is all things playing

The Royals
It was a cool morning; a harsh breeze rushed through his window, which was slightly ajar. He felt the
breeze, shivering; he decided to check his clock. It was seven o five, time to get ready for school, but
he didn t care. Andy was a Royal now; The Royals were one of the biggest gangs in the city besides
the Guardians.
He felt a sense of pride when imagining himself in his signature purple jacket, embellished with The
Royals emblem. I m not a boy without a sense of belonging anymore, now I have a title, a purpose;
Andy thought to himself. He fell back to sleep. When he woke up, he stared at the ceiling for a while,
thinking of Laura, thinking of her brown eyes.
His alarm went off distracting him from his reverie. With an exasperated sigh, he got up to get ready.
Andy glanced in his mirror for a few quick seconds, noticing his small tired eyes and his hair sticking
out in odd places; quickly, he ran a comb through his bushy hair and picked up an old T shirt and some
jeans from off of the floor. In a few swift movements, he dressed himself and headed for the closet.
Andy got to the closet and grabbed his purple jacket, after putting it on, he walked out the front door.
He grabbed the last cigarette from the pack in his pocket and lit it. He walked across the hard
pavement; passing by a small park. He noticed a smiling man and a little boy who he presumed to be
the man s son on a swing set.
I love you pa, the boy said.
The man laughed, a huge smile on his face; it

Dual Language Classrooms
Introduction
The research I will be investigating will be the effectiveness of dual language classrooms. Dual
language classrooms often referred to as bilingual education are academic programs that are taught in
two languages throughout the school year. There are two types of dual language classrooms. Often
determined by population and current demographics within the school district one way or two way
classes will be offered. One way dual language classrooms are classrooms of only one type of native
language speaker. As an example, a one way dual language classroom would have only students who
speak Spanish as their first language in the classroom. Often these students speak only Spanish at
home and would receive instruction in both

Spiritual Development From A Cognitive Perspective
Spiritual Development from a Cognitive Perspective Emily Werst Biola University Rosemead School
of Psychology Spiritual development has been explored for the past 30 years (Love, 2002) and has
become a growing source of knowledge that adds to our understanding of the human experience
across the lifespan. The purpose of the current work is to investigate spiritual development,
particularly from a cognitive developmental perspective. The theories and findings that will be
discussed aim to support the assertion that an individual s cognitive development has a profound
impact on his or her spiritual development; the two go hand in hand, and an understanding of an
individual s current stage of cognitive development has profound implications for the spiritual
development of that individual. This idea will be supported by first reviewing the foundational
understanding of Piaget s cognitive stages of development. From there, Harms s theories will begin to
draw spiritual implications from cognitive development, which will lead us to an exploration of
Fowler s (2004) developmental theory of faith. Finally, Parks (2000) shall bring both cognitive and
spiritual development together in her developmental model of faith. Park s theory provides a robust
model, supporting the idea that an individual s cognitive development has a profound impact on his or
her spiritual development. Though both involve distinct developmental stages throughout an
individual s lifespan, it is

Wilfred Owen Speech
Good morning Turkish citizens, war veterans and fellow Australians, we gather here at this hour to
commemorate the 100 Year anniversary of the Gallipoli Campaign. Those of you out there I m sure
you can agree when I say War is sweet for those who haven t experienced it. , the media showcasing it
to the people as a heroic gesture that generally is executed by people risking their lives for their
country. But it s so much more than that. Some of you out there might disagree, no no, war is nothing
but a little game played by men who want to dish out the hero card, and nothing more than that. But
that s wrong, and let me tell you why. Disabled is a poem made by Wilfred Owen that outlines the

It runs off sadness, fear and denial. It also brings up a very strong feeling of independence,
demonstrated by the female protagonist. Throughout the first 30 seconds of the video, there s a
transition of her comforting another lady to a picture of her husband, which had the rosary beads
draped on top of it. It s almost a metaphor that represents what she s afraid will come of her husband
on the battlefield, showing the gnawing anxiety that she must have been forced to endure each passing
day. The non diegetic music, which played during the montage, was to evoke emotion that was
especially depressing, and succeeded in many aspects. The instrumental s purpose is to wash the
viewer with saddened feelings to bring them into the same perspective as the actors in the film; to
acquire a level of understanding. As the seconds spanned on, the montage faded onto into of the
reactions of the mothers that were being told of the bad news, and each were different. Some
experienced instance sorrow, but accepted the fact in a subtle sort of way, others were confused, and
many underwent denial. This is exclusively seen in the first woman that was confronted with the
news, in which she outright refused to believe her husband was dead. So yes, as the men who were
fighting on the battlefield were ultimately affected by war in many shapes and forms, the families on
the camps were also heavily involved in the emotional

Special Needs Trust Essay
A Special Needs Trust in Southington CT, often referred to as a Supplemental Needs Trust in
Southington CT, is a special type of trust intended for use with individuals who are either mentally or
physically disabled. The trust is written in a manner that allows the individual to use property reserved
for his or her benefit, without interfering with their ability to obtain essential government benefits that
are needs based. In addition, the trust offers administrative benefits, by allowing the holding and
management of property intended for use by the beneficiary in situations where he or she doesn t have
the proper legal capacity to manage their financial matters. The Preservation Of Government Benefits
Many benefits provided by the government are handled on a need basis. As a result, individuals who
have a number of assets may find they don t qualify for the assistance they need. They are then forced
to sell the assets to obtain the needed care and, when the assets are depleted, the government programs
step in. The supplemental needs trust preserves these assets while allowing the individual to obtain
government assistance. When included in a trust of this type, the assets do not count for the purpose of
needs based benefits. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

be irrevocable. It it may be revoked, it won t qualify as a special needs trust, and this may hurt the
recipient. The trust, when properly drafted, allows for the dissolution or termination of the trust under
specific conditions. In addition, it outlines the process for amendments, when

The First Phase Of The Second World War
Throughout the first phase of the Second World War in Europe, Germany sought to avoid a long war.
Its strategy was to win a decisive victory over their opponents with a series of short campaigns.
Germany quickly took control of most of Europe and was victorious for more than two years with the
Blitzkrieg (lightning war). This new military tactics required the concentration of a powerful set of
offensive forces (tanks, aircrafts and artillery) on a narrow front. By practicing a breach in the enemy
defenses, these forces allowed the armored divisions to quickly penetrate and maneuver freely behind
enemy lines, disrupting their defenses. The German Air Force prevented the enemy to resupply, to
redeploy its forces efficiently and to send reinforcements to close the breaches that occurred in his
front. The German forces were thus able to encircle the enemy and force him to surrender. In June
1941, the German forces invaded the Soviet Union. The blitzkrieg seemed at first to be a success.
Soviet forces retreated over 900 km to the gates of Moscow, suffering huge losses. However, it was on
the Soviet territory that the blitzkrieg showed its limits. In this context, the amelioration of the allied
forces readiness after the two first years of the war, and the vulnerability of the blitzkrieg to logistics
and qualified manpower, reduced greatly its success after 1941. The adaptation of new defensive
tactics by the allies has greatly contributed to the failure of the blitzkrieg.

The Current Financial Crisis Essay
Frederic Mishkin makes the point in the text, The Economics of Money Banking, and Financial
Markets (2010) that Banks and other financial institutions are what make financial markets work.
Without them, financial markets would not be able to move funds from people who save to people
who have productive investment opportunities. (p.7). The movement of funds between savers and
those with productive investment opportunities is the means of creating growth. When people lose
confidence in the economy this activity freezes or weakens, consequently, asset prices decline,
unemployment rises and companies default as was the case of Lehman Brothers in 2008. The freezing
of the flow of money is a financial crisis. Today, the global flow of ... Show more content on

Europe and China are major economies that impact the world.
Europe s challenges with the Euro are complicated. The United States congress had trouble agreeing
to enact legislature to raise its debt ceiling in order to meet its obligations and maintain its credit
ratings. In Europe, separate countries need to agree to come together with a combined political will to
stabilize countries and banks in financial trouble. Without the power to print money individually, each
country under the single currency must come together under combined policies. Today, Europe seems
willing to reach combined policy decisions to avoid an economic disaster. Ultimately, if this happens,
the Euro will have a stronger future just as the United States gained a stronger political and financial
system from policies created as a result of the Great Depression. If Europe fails to come to agreement
on combined policies to solve the European Debt Crisis the world will realize the financial risks.
Direct exposure is already being seen in the financial institutions. MF Global recently filed for
bankruptcy. Exposure to European bonds brought down a $41B firm just 3 weeks after a European
bank failure. Repo to maturity contacts. Falling bond values created the need for more collateral in
this type of financial instrument. Firms with similar investments could see greater risk if interest rates
rise and bond values fall.
Company earnings have been the bright light

Relationship Between A Mother Daughter Relationships And...
In Affection and Acrimony : Exploring Mother Daughter Relationships in Gilmore Girls
Almost every woman in North America has some form of a relationship with their daughter and/or
mother in their lifetime. However, these relation can vary in amiability and affection. Whether due to
similarities or differences in personality or circumstances in life, mothers and daughters can be close
confidants or fierce foes. These familial relationships have been studied in part by Marianne Hirsch
and Sharon M. Varallo in their essays on the familial gaze and the genre of family photographs,
respectively. In this essay, I will be using the work previously done by Hirsch and Varallo to analyze
two different mother daughter relationships presented in the television show Gilmore Girls. The two
relationships differ vastly in their outward appearance, however both relationships show underlying
characteristics of both friendship and animosity. Overall, these two mother daughter relationships
demonstrate that the love between a mother and a daughter can be expressed in various ways.
Gilmore Girls follows the lives of three women in the Gilmore family. Rory, the youngest, is a
teenager at the beginning of the show. She is an only child and was raised by her single mother,
Lorelai, in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai is in her thirties throughout the show.
She became pregnant with Rory when she was sixteen, and left her wealthy parents home to raise
Rory alone. Emily, the

The Bhagavad Gita
The Bhagavad Gita has a few themes that are rigorously repeated throughout the narration. Arjuna is
pained with the task of deciding whether or not he should kill his family and friends. He consults in
his close friend Krishna to decide what he should do and Krishna delivers many life lessons. Krishna
specifically discusses dharma, karma, and how to obtain liberation from samsara. Krishna is a
powerful god and confidant to Arjuna during a time of war and chaos. Arjuna, however, does not seem
to realize how powerful Krishna truly is. Krishna explains that he is everything in the universe. He is
the sky, earth, animals, and plants. He created everything and a part of him is in every surrounding.
Krishna states, I am the beginning, the middle, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Arjuna confides in Krishan that he does not think he can fight against his family and friends,
Krishna tells him that it is his duty to participate in the war against evil in order to restore balance in
the universe. Krishna illustrates how everyone has a duty that they must complete. He demands Arjuna
to look to your own duty; do not tremble before it (Gita, 34). Krishna repeats this importance of
dharma because it is needed to balance the karma in people s lives. Obtaining a respectable balance in
life and working off karma can eventually lead to a soul s release from the samsara cycle. Krishna
spends a significant amount of time in the Bhagavad Gita explaining how a person may be released
from the continuous cycle of death and rebirth. He tells Arjuna that someone must be selfless and
detached from the material world in order to obtain complete liberation. They must also ignore their
own egos and focus on the divine instead. Krishna declares that men who always follow my thought,
trusting it without finding fault, are freed even by their actions (Gita, 45). People must find God in all
of their actions and turn this into a way of

Purim is celebrated on the 14th day of Adar which was the day the Jewish people celebrated their
survival of Haman s extermination. For the cities that were walled in the time of Joshua it is celebrated
on the 15th, because in the book of Esther a wall city (Shushan) the message of the deliverance of the
extermination did not reach until the day after. The Purim holiday is followed by a fast, the fast honors
Esther s three days of fasting in preparation to be summoned by the king and tell him Haman s plan.
The commandment of the holiday is to hear the reading of the Book of Esther. Pesach also known as
Passover in English is a common Jewish holiday the permits the eating of Chametz that has not
touched water in the last 18 minutes. Chametz are the five major grains which are wheat, rye, barley,
oats and spelt. The reason for this is because when the Jewish people left Egypt they did not have time
to allow their bread to rise which is symbolism for removing the puffiness or pride from our souls.
The holiday is so strict that you may not own Chametz or anything with the five grains, you may not
feed it to pets and or cattle, and derive benefit from it. People go as far ass ridding their house of
chametz several weeks before Pesach, cleaning stoves, scrubbing their fridge, and cleansing anything
that has come in contact with food. Some Jewish people criticize

The Lottery Offers A Wonderful Opportunity
The lottery offers a wonderful opportunity to possibly win millions of dollars. While this might seems
amazing, it might not be as wonderful as imagined. In fact, maybe even the opposite might true as
stated by numerous studies and research done since the 1970s. Lotteries have been reported to have
possibly started all the way back in the Han Dynasty early 200 B.C. The first official record of a
public lottery was in 1434 from the Dutch town of Sluis. The original idea of the lottery was to help
the lower class and fortify townships. It was not until the 1600s when the more modern form of the
lottery came about. Where one would buy a ticket for a small amount with the possibility to win a big
cash purse. Later, around 1890 much scrutiny and distrust surrounded the lottery which eventually led
to the United States stopping sales of tickets and made lotteries illegal. This was in effect until after
World War II and the iconic modern lotteries started to come back into everyday lives. At first it was
just separate state lotteries, but eventually in late 80s and early 90s interstate lotteries emerged which
include the famous Mega Million, originally named The Big Game, and Powerball. Some of the
success for the recent lotteries goes to the more credible system of checking and organizing tickets
called the Marksense system. The allure of the lottery is for a small charge, usually $1 or $2, there is
the possibility of winning millions. While the large majority of those who buy

family. Liddie, Terrance, and their parents got in a car accident one night. The dad was driving the car
when he was going around a dark curve in the road and hit another car. The other car was stopped in

The father s drinking and the mother s temper result from the emotional impact of the devastating
accident. The family eventually had to move to other city because they could not bear living their

children. A traumatic event can have a serious impact of the children that were involved in the car
accident. It was not until a year after the car accident that Liddie started to talk again. The kids grew
closer together. The King of a Vast Empire perfectly captures what it s like to be a brother and sister
united by grief and misunderstanding (VanDerWerff). The siblings were united by the trauma of the
car accident and became better friends. They only paid attention to yell at them. Terrance would
confront Liddie when she would have nightmares from the car accident: Liddie brought her

College enrollment skyrocketed as a direct result of the expansion of financial aid programs.
Initially, the federal government s involvement was restricted to providing financial aid to veterans
pursuing higher education. By 1965, the federal government solidified its involvement within the
realm of student financial aid by enacting the Higher Education Act. Title IV of the Act provided for a
guaranteed loan program that carried with it the full promise of the U.S. government to repay private
lenders if a student defaulted on their loan. The creation of this title lead to the creation of government

lending institutions, the greater the guarantee that those lending institutions will continue to provide

Japan s education system for a few of reasons. The foremost reason is that Japan is diligent when
educating their students. During primary education, what Americans consider elementary education,
the students are grouped into four person teams. In each group, the students are paired by strengthens
and weaknesses, in hopes that they can learn from and help each other to further their education. The
Japanese education system is also diligent throughout their secondary education, which includes their
middle and high school levels. They meticulously select what classes the students take, to ensure that
each student is taking the needed academic courses, while also making sure they are taking an arts
course. These are required because the Japanese believe that a mix of academics and arts creates a
well rounded citizen.
The Japanese education system can be categorized as industrious also because of the work ethics that
are imparted during the students years. Japan has a highly regarded school system that pushes its
students to excel. It does this by giving them the motivation to complete tasks they are given and
more. This is evident in the widely used cram school , which is instruction after the normal school day
to prepare for exams. The Japanese education

The Advance Traveler Information Systems
The motive and idea proposed through this paper is to implement Advanced Traveler Information
Systems (ATIS) that is potential enough to provide solutions for problems encountered in cases of
both, informed and non informed users. After several route choice studies and investigations, experts
conclude that impact of elaborated and virtually supported information determine vast difference in
theoretical and methodological approach to ATIS. As an attempt to develop the technologies
appropriate to establish an Overall Intelligent Transportation System supported with real time and
accurate data to make traveler destination/route choices a happy decision.
Generally both, descriptive or prescriptive concept of pre trip traveler information has a positive
impact. It increases the traveler s confidence to explore deeper, bargain in the new land, use freeways
properly and make better informed transit choices. En route visual data and information offer tested
guidance, saves travel time, helps to avoid congestion, improves traffic performance and provide more
efficiency than paper maps, written instructions or previous traveler experiences (BoozAllen
Hamilton, 1998). However, recent studies have revealed people s lack of awareness about the system
and its diminished usage.
The efforts and rework carried to overcome this weak link register a pitfall in the prevailing system
which exhibits the limitation of visual data in it. In order to endeavor the fool proof system that is

Comparative Analysis of Vertigo, North by Northwest and Notorious by Alfred Hitchcock
The British master of suspense, Alfred Hitchcock, made the cinematographic history by the unique
auteur approach. His own vision of the story, uncommon manner of shooting, and challenging ideas
formed his style and made him recognizable. The genius of the 50 s and 60 s, he provided the rich
legacy for the future generations and set the pace for the directors all over the world. This paper is
going to trace the specific features of Alfred Hitchcock through the analysis of three of his world
known masterpieces, namely Vertigo, North by Northwest and Notorious. The discussion of the films
will be based on three cinematographic elements: genre, use of motifs, and camera set ups.
Genre
Alfred Hitchcock is fairly referred to as the pioneer of the psychological thrillers. Though such genre
did not exist in the 50 s, it would soon be transformed from the so called suspense films (Thompson
41). The director was obviously a true master of making his audience feel afraid and anxious all his
innovative techniques and auteur approach were directed to create a genuine feeling of suspense. The
genre always implied psychoanalytical elements as well as those of violence and murders.
All the films under consideration make a good example of the plot including mystery and murders.
Presented in artistic visual form, they can be defined as the typical suspense films by Hitchcock. In

The Mission Of The American Counseling Association ( Aca )
The mission of the American Counseling Association (ACA) According to the Counseling.org
website, the ACA s mission is to enhance the quality of life in society by promoting the development
of professional counselors, advancing the counseling profession, and using the profession and practice
of counseling to promote respect for human dignity and diversity . I interpret this as a wide array of
assurances, through continuing education and enlightenment of counselors, and then the quality of
services is improved upon by dedication. The ACA started out as the American Mental Health
Counselors Association (AMHCA), and it originated because so many professional counselors were
dissatisfied that they did not fit to the subscription of contemporary styles of mental health
professionals (Palmo, Weikel Borsos, 2006). The advancement of the counseling profession began
when the term professional counselor was recognized as a profession. It continues to grow through
research and theory developments that have proven to positively impact the lives of the client
professional counselors see. How the ACA defines professional counseling The ACA defines
professional counseling as a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families, and
groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals (ACA, 2010). This is not
the first recognized definition of professional counseling; however, as I understand it in its current
state, this is a relationship

Summary Of Fairy Tales From Angela Carter Burning Your Boats
In this essay, I will be discussing different elements of fairy tales from Angela Carter Burning your
Boats. I will be discussing The Loves of Lady Purple, Penetrating to the Heart of the Forest, The
Bloody Chamber and The Werewolf. Between the four of these stories, they displace a wide variety of
feminism that the Grimm Brothers and Anderson did not display.
From reading The Loves of Lady Purple, this story didn t resemble a normal fairy tale, this story
resembles gothic literature. Lady Purple was no princess, she was no queen of a kingdom or a castle,
she was a cruel, vicious person. Lady purple was a vampire and Angela Carter described her as, white
as chalk because it was covered with the skin of supplest white leather which also clothes her torso,
jointed limbs and complication of extremities. Her beautiful hands seemed more like weapons because
her nails were so long, five inches of pointed tin enameled scarlet, and she wore a wig of black hair
arranged in a chignon more heavily elaborate than any human neck could have endured. This
monumental chevelure was stuck through with many brilliant pins tipped with pieces of broken mirror
so that, every time she moved, she cast a multitude of scintillating reflections which danced about the
theatre like mice of light. Her clothes were all of deep, dark, slumberous colors profound pinks,
crimson and the vibrating purple with which she was synonymous, a purple the color of bloods in a
love suicide (Carter, p. 43, 1995).
Lady Purple was not a typical woman in a fairy tale, if you want to call this story a fairy tale. In most
fairy tales, women are passive, their hardly paid attention to, they re expected look a certain and act a
certain way. Their Lady Purple was none of that, she was cruel, manipulative, she was not a true
prostitute for she was the object on which men prostituted themselves. In most fairy tales, woman are
portrayed as vampires who are gold diggers, but Lady Purple was in this case.
I think the reason why Angela Carter wrote this story was to step away from the fairy tale approach.
From reading this story, I did not pick up on any fairy tale elements. When I was reading this story, I
thought there would be a love interest between Lady

The Weaknesses Of The Greenhouse Gas Theory
The Weaknesses of the Greenhouse Gas Theory
Greenhouses are used to grow crops such as tomatoes and lettuce under controlled conditions.
Greenhouses consist of a framed building with transparent covering. Sunlight penetrates through the
transparent covering to get to the plants inside. The plants and the soil absorb the sunlight and radiate
some of the absorbed energy as heat.
Quite often, greenhouses ventilate either through controlled openings or by fanning air around. The
ventilation is necessary to avoid the build up of water vapor and to ensure that too much heat doesn t
too negatively affect the plants. The key elements of the greenhouse are the outer shell that traps the
air inside, the trapped air, and controlled ventilation.

There are several weaknesses in the arguments supporting the greenhouse gas theory. These are
explained in the following sections.
Carbon dioxide is heavier than air. Carbon dioxide, deemed as the key offender in the greenhouse
theory, is heavier than air. This means that its highest concentrations are close to the ground in low
lying areas. Without the benefit of experiments to the prove the point, it can still be postulated that the
highest concentrations of carbon dioxide are within 1000 meters (3,500 feet) above sea level, and
concentrations will diminish as air climbs higher into the atmosphere. Incidentally, this is not unusual.
Oxygen is known to diminish with elevation as well.
Since carbon dioxide is most prevalent when close to ground level, it is unlikely that it would absorb
significant levels of outgoing, long wavelength radiation (heat) and hold enough of it to influence

Government Regulation Essay
Government Regulation
Throughout history there have been many different opinions about government regulation. Some
believe the government regulates business too much others feel that the government does not do
enough. I believe the government is regulating business far too much and furthermore putting
businesses out of business and causing many workers to lose jobs. In this paper I will point out the
common problems dealing with government regulation. I will also focus on three major aspects of
government regulation which include: 1) regulation interferes with production by halting innovation
and discouraging risk taking, resulting in declining employment, 2) government over regulates by

In all of the cases of 1970 the Congress chose to regulate instead of the alternatives; court penalties for
polluters, tax penalties for employers with poor safety records, or government funded information
programs. If the health and safety regulators were created in response to nonexistent crises, it is not
surprising they have made little impact on morality rates. (Crickmer 1980) Sam Peltzman, University
of Chicago economist, did a cost benefit analysis of the drug regulations that followed the thalidomide
tragedy in Europe. In his analysis he focused on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which is
alike the older single industry regulators and some of its problems are typical of most health and
safety regulation. He found that the new drug laws were costing far more than the benefits achieved.
In Britain more lives were being saved than in the U.S. due to the fewer restrictions on new drugs
unlike the U.S. which have conservative policies towards new drugs. Regulation interferes with
production and halts innovation and risk taking resulting in declining employment. This is to say,
because of regulation costs, the businesses do not have enough money to invest in taking risks with
new ideas and technology. This does not allow the company to expand and hire more workers.
Regulation over regulates by setting standards for every aspect of manufacture

Tolkien had many influences to help him write his own work, later on, he was also an influence to

International trade has helped business in capturing market potential and growing internationally.
Today no country operates its trade independently and this reason itself has reduced importance of
geographical boundaries and made trade associations like WTO, IMF etc. more significant. The

dynamics of International trade and using it as a tool to add value to business.
Engaging in managerial activities and having an upper edge in statistical and accounting computations

On The NBA Fans Created by Jim Naismith in 1891, the game of basketball has grown into something

Server Virtualization And Software Virtualization
Server Virtualization Abstract: During past thirty years, the term concept of server virtualization has
invoked in order to allow the large expensive main frame servers to be used and shared among the
different application layered environments from various geographical locations. Server Virtualization
is a process of portioning the single main server into several server partitions . In clear terms to state,
main server is being used as many number of cloned severs where maximum programmers/users can
access that cloned server in their work area location locally satisfying the user requirements reducing
the cost effectiveness. Availability of hardware in market made virtualization concept to fade away. In
modern era, virtualization at the different levels alike network, storage and system has gained much
more importance in terms of improving the system security, reliability and availability. Server
Virtualization is a gate way for the organization in order to reduce their cost efficiency compared to
any other modern technologies. Concept of Server virtualization is the most effective and desired
method of executing and to make run on the different virtual operating systems which are collectively

Compare And Contrast Thomas Hobbes And Locke
Thomas Hobbes and John Locke
Influential philosophers were not uncommon in the seventeenth century. Two British political thinkers,
Thomas Hobbes and John Locke, though opposite in many ways, both had one shared legacy: both
men greatly influenced the politicians of America and laid a foundation of what would one day
become the American government. While both men did some heavily influencing, they too witnessed
events that forged their worldviews. Hobbes began writing after the English Civil War where King
Charles I was beheaded, and the civil government came to an end. It was then that Hobbes concluded
that humans do not possess the capabilities to live at peace with one another. Locke wrote considering
the Glorious and Bloodless Revolution where King James II of England was ousted and there was no
considerable violence. When learning about their theories on government, it is crucial to consider
these factors to understand the context and reasoning behind them. Hobbes and Locke s theories
challenged individuals to consider a world where a government is nonexistent. Both agreed that
humankind, when left to their own devices, were subject to chaos. In the absence of government, there
is no telling what humans would be willing to do to have their way; some may resort to stealing from
their neighbor while others can wreak havoc and even murder civilians. The two thinkers understood a
perfect world filled with peace and mutual agreements would never exist, and insist if it

Child Marriage Should Be Legal
Children should be able to experience their childhood and be able to enjoy those worriless year not
worry about anything. Living life is not all about growing up, it about living and enjoys it to help
making yourself happy about what have accomplished and experience. A child should not have to
choose between their childhood and their parent or a religion. Both girls and boys are affected by child
marriage, but girls are affected in much larger numbers and with greater intensity. Child marriage is
seen across the country but it is far higher in rural than in urban areas. Girls from poorer families,
castes and tribes, and with lower education levels are more likely to marry at a younger age.
Child marriage has been a popular situation in India, which leads to so many children losing their
childhood and becoming an adult to fast. A child shouldn t be married off before they become women
because they grow up to fast and forget how to be child and become a woman with lot of responsible

Sweatshops Should Be Outlawed

employment of minors, who required to work long hours, and they are paid low wages. Powell
provides an economic explanation for the presence of sweatshops in the world. The minors work in
deplorable working condition that cause poor health conditions. They perpetuate the violation of basic
human rights as people are exploited for their labor. Today s sweatshops violate our notions of justice,

At the level of the individual worker, sweatshops can be regarded as a blessing of sort, for they might
be the only way for illiterate people lacking marketable skills to enter the global industrial
marketplace. In many less developed countries with large populations, agriculture is the only
economic activity available to people. Sweatshops provide poor people in developing countries with
better outcomes than the alternative of criminal activity (child and adult prostitution). Employable for
only part of the year, outside of the planting and harvesting seasons, there is little for them to do and
they stream into cities looking for work. Sweatshops exist because of a prevailing mindset that
maintains a clear distinction between business and ethics. My perspective is minors shouldn t have to
work at sweatshops, they should be able to work in a clean and safe environment. During school days
no more than four or five hours a day with a legitimate pay wage. In conclusion, Sweatshops should

Homeless People Could Be a Great Resource
Have you ever felt so angry when you gave someone the money that you worked very hard to earn,
and then he or she wasted it on some unacceptable purposes? Yes, it has been one of my first lessons
since I immigrated to the United States. During January of 2012, most of the weekdays, my brother
gave a homeless man some quarters or one dollar when we were going to work. This homeless man
stood in an intersection and begged for charity from the public. However, my brother met him at a
convenient store, and witnessed him buying some lotteries. Should this homeless man spend his
begging money on gambling or on daily necessities such as foods and a place to sleep? Another
example is a homeless man who bought three houses and had four wives with some children from
public charity has been charged for tax problems. These men are a part of the large population of
homeless citizens in the United States. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, the
amount of homeless is roughly estimated to be between 2.3 million and 3.5 million people. That is
approximately 1 in 100 people living without a home or living on the streets every night with no job,
no car, and no responsibilities. Obviously, we need to figure out a way to fix these homeless problems.
Many experts have discussed and suggested uncounted solutions. However, we could easily fix the
homeless problem by gathering them and using them as a resource. As I mentioned, homeless people
could be a great resource. Just

Complementary And Alternative Therapies
Discuss the various methods of complementary and alternative therapies.
CAMS are divided into five different categories: biological, manipulative body, mind body, energy,
and alternative medicine. For example, dance therapy would fall under the manipulative body based
interventions, while mind body interventions encompass alternatives like poetry, art, or music, and
yoga would be an example of mind body interventions and manipulative body. Participants in music
therapy have reported improved quality of life, and yoga therapy has been shown to lead individuals
towards motivation to health improvement. As well, dance therapy has been proven to improve body
image, coordination, body awareness, depression, anxiety, and stress relief; as well, sexual abuse
survivors have used dance therapy to reconnect with their body by coping and processing, as well as
give them a sense of freedom from their trauma (Complementary and Integrative, n.d.). ... Show more

I feel one of the most research CAMs is hippotherapy, and it is one that I am quite familiar with in my
line of work. Hippotherapy is equine, or horse, therapy and is very common in special needs children,
particularly those with autism. In conjunction with traditional therapies and treatment plans, it is
proven to be very effective in regards to posture, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, as well as body
and cognitive awareness. There is also extensive research done looking at how coping and
communication skills improved in individuals since the start of hippotherapy (Ajzenman, Shurtleff,

Sherwood Middle School Essay
The issue for Middle School students at SMS are the Chromebooks. The biggest problems involving
the chromebooks are the responsibilities that come with them. The Chromebooks at Sherwood Middle
School were a big problem for students. The Responsibilities that come with them are huge. In
addition kids aren t able to change their backgrounds, do anything inappropriate with them, and if they
dropped it or damaged it the school would have to replace it. First of all the chromebooks at Sherwood
Middle School have had a problem with the backgrounds. More than half of the nation s primary and
secondary school students which is over 30 million students use something that is linked with google.
They also found out they weren t able to change them from a boring old rules page. Initially the rules
page listed the rules for them, like what they can and can t do.It also shows that students need to be
respectful, and how to be safe with it, like not sharing the password. The student became as furious as
a bull that can t ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If they had the protection plan they would be saved. The protection plan is like it sounds if someone
drops it, Loses it or does something else with it that harms it, they will replace it or fix it. If a student
doesn t have the protection plan then they have to pay for the repair or replacement. There had been
accidents with the chromebooks. Students have spilled glue on them, broke screens, dropped them,
broken keys, and a lot more. Just imagine a middle school student tripping and dropping their
chromebook down a set of stairs. Thud, Thud, Thud, Thud, CRASH!
As has been noted, the Chromebooks at Sherwood Middle School were a big problem. Kids had to be
careful with them, couldn t do anything inappropriate with them, and couldn t change their
backgrounds. The school had gotten most of the problems fixed. The chromebooks were a big change
for the students and

Module 4 DBA notes
A physical change is one that affects only the physical properties of a substance, while a chemical
change alters a substance at the molecular level.
Physical Properties: A property that can be observed or measured without changing the chemical
identity of the substance.
Physical properties can be categorized as either intensive or extensive.
Reactivity:
An element or compound s reactivity is its ability or capacity to react, or bond, with another
substance. As you continue through this course, you will observe and compare this particular chemical
property in a variety of scenarios.
Flammability:
One type of chemical reaction, called combustion, involves the burning of various compounds and
elements. Some substances are more ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most decomposition reactions require energy, usually in the form of heat or electricity, to be added in
order for the reaction to occur.
In a decomposition reaction, a single compound undergoes a reaction that produces more than one
product. The following general equation illustrates decomposition reactions:
AB → A + B
AB is a compound made of two or more elements. A and B are individual elements or compounds.
Types of Decomposition Reactions: Binary compound, metal carbonate, metal chlorate, metal
hydroxide, oxyacids
In a combustion reaction, a compound or element reacts with oxygen, releasing a large amount of
energy in the form of light and heat.
they are exothermic, which means that energy is released by the reaction.
Many combustion reactions involve the burning of organic compounds called hydrocarbons,
compounds containing the elements carbon and hydrogen, or other organic compounds. When a
hydrocarbon is burned completely, the products of the combustion reaction are usually carbon dioxide
and water. Natural gas, propane, and wood all burn to produce carbon dioxide and water as the
products.
Not all combustion reactions involve organic compounds made of carbon and hydrogen (nonorganic
compounds), which means that the products are not always

  • 2. Effective Leadership Management Leadership Effectiveness What is leadership? A leader is one who influences others to attain goals. The greater the number of followers correlates to the greater the influence. Additionally, the more successful the attainment of worthy goals, the more evident is the leadership. However, one must explore beyond this bare definition to capture the excitement and intrigue that devoted followers and students of leadership feel when they see a great leader in action. Therefore, employees should seek to understand what organizational leaders really do and to learn what it really takes to become a truly outstanding leader. Theories Models Outstanding leaders combine good strategic substance and effective interpersonal processes to formulate and implement strategies that produce results and sustainable competitive advantage. Hence, it is a little overwhelming, especially when inundated with numerous theories about leadership such as, X Y theory, path goal theory, charismatic, traits theory, Vroom model, and contingency theory, etc... Additionally, numerous leadership styles exist in which a manager can employ, such as laissez faire, transformational, employee centered, tasks centered, close supervision, participative, democratic, or autocratic (Elliott 2011). Transactional Leadership The transactional leadership theory is one, which is most widespread and commonly used in most organizations (e.g. military). It is based on transactions or deals made between an employee and an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Pros Of Laser Surgery The placement of the eye itself allows us to see length, depth, width, and distance of any object. The eye is made up of three layers. The layers in particular are; the sclera, choroid, and the retina. Deriving from website source, The sclera is a dense, white, fibrous membrane that, with the cornea, forms the external covering of the eyeball. The choroid is like the chorion; membranous. The retina is the innermost coat of the posterior part of the eyeball that receives the image produced by the lens, is continuous with the optic nerve, and consists of several layers, one of which contains the rods and cones that are sensitive to light. The sclera also maintains the shape of the eye. The sclera has muscles attached to it that controls the movement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These views are deriving from a youtube video. A pro of laser surgery is it decreases the use of glasses and or contact lenses. You won t have to depend on them as much. I can recall when I was in Jackson for Blue White weekend. I didn t bring my glasses and I lost one of my contact lenses, I couldn t see anything. I couldn t see my band, I couldn t drive back home, it was just sad. However if I would have had a laser surgery done in the past, I wouldn t have had that problem. So that is one pro of having a laser surgery that I can relate too. The first con of the laser eye surgery is the cost. Having a laser eye surgery done is very expensive, so that is always a con and a big factor when it comes down to pros and cons. Another con is that it is possible to have an eye infection in your cornea. Another con is, the flap of your cornea that is being cut could potentially fall off. It is also possible that the cornea can heal inappropriately. The cut can grow underneath the flap, which could cause eye problems, as well as vision problems. Of Course there is no surgery that is completely risk free, however the eye is so sensitive it s hard to even think about it. But this is how the eye functions, and this is all things playing into the Chemistry of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was seven o five, time to get ready for school, but he didn t care. Andy was a Royal now; The Royals were one of the biggest gangs in the city besides the Guardians. He felt a sense of pride when imagining himself in his signature purple jacket, embellished with The Royals emblem. I m not a boy without a sense of belonging anymore, now I have a title, a purpose; Andy thought to himself. He fell back to sleep. When he woke up, he stared at the ceiling for a while, thinking of Laura, thinking of her brown eyes. His alarm went off distracting him from his reverie. With an exasperated sigh, he got up to get ready. Andy glanced in his mirror for a few quick seconds, noticing his small tired eyes and his hair sticking out in odd places; quickly, he ran a comb through his bushy hair and picked up an old T shirt and some jeans from off of the floor. In a few swift movements, he dressed himself and headed for the closet. Andy got to the closet and grabbed his purple jacket, after putting it on, he walked out the front door. He grabbed the last cigarette from the pack in his pocket and lit it. He walked across the hard pavement; passing by a small park. He noticed a smiling man and a little boy who he presumed to be the man s son on a swing set. I love you pa, the boy said. The man laughed, a huge smile on his face; it ... • 6. Spiritual Development From A Cognitive Perspective Spiritual Development from a Cognitive Perspective Emily Werst Biola University Rosemead School of Psychology Spiritual development has been explored for the past 30 years (Love, 2002) and has become a growing source of knowledge that adds to our understanding of the human experience across the lifespan. The purpose of the current work is to investigate spiritual development, particularly from a cognitive developmental perspective. The theories and findings that will be discussed aim to support the assertion that an individual s cognitive development has a profound impact on his or her spiritual development; the two go hand in hand, and an understanding of an individual s current stage of cognitive development has profound implications for the spiritual development of that individual. This idea will be supported by first reviewing the foundational understanding of Piaget s cognitive stages of development. From there, Harms s theories will begin to draw spiritual implications from cognitive development, which will lead us to an exploration of Fowler s (2004) developmental theory of faith. Finally, Parks (2000) shall bring both cognitive and spiritual development together in her developmental model of faith. Park s theory provides a robust model, supporting the idea that an individual s cognitive development has a profound impact on his or her spiritual development. Though both involve distinct developmental stages throughout an individual s lifespan, it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It s almost a metaphor that represents what she s afraid will come of her husband on the battlefield, showing the gnawing anxiety that she must have been forced to endure each passing day. • 8. Special Needs Trust Essay A Special Needs Trust in Southington CT, often referred to as a Supplemental Needs Trust in Southington CT, is a special type of trust intended for use with individuals who are either mentally or physically disabled. The trust is written in a manner that allows the individual to use property reserved for his or her benefit, without interfering with their ability to obtain essential government benefits that are needs based. In addition, the trust offers administrative benefits, by allowing the holding and management of property intended for use by the beneficiary in situations where he or she doesn t have the proper legal capacity to manage their financial matters. The Preservation Of Government Benefits Many benefits provided by the government are handled on a need basis. As a result, individuals who have a number of assets may find they don t qualify for the assistance they need. They are then forced to sell the assets to obtain the needed care and, when the assets are depleted, the government programs step in. The supplemental needs trust preserves these assets while allowing the individual to obtain government assistance. • 9. The First Phase Of The Second World War Throughout the first phase of the Second World War in Europe, Germany sought to avoid a long war. Its strategy was to win a decisive victory over their opponents with a series of short campaigns. Germany quickly took control of most of Europe and was victorious for more than two years with the Blitzkrieg (lightning war). This new military tactics required the concentration of a powerful set of offensive forces (tanks, aircrafts and artillery) on a narrow front. By practicing a breach in the enemy defenses, these forces allowed the armored divisions to quickly penetrate and maneuver freely behind enemy lines, disrupting their defenses. The German Air Force prevented the enemy to resupply, to redeploy its forces efficiently and to send reinforcements to close the breaches that occurred in his front. The German forces were thus able to encircle the enemy and force him to surrender. In June 1941, the German forces invaded the Soviet Union. The blitzkrieg seemed at first to be a success. Soviet forces retreated over 900 km to the gates of Moscow, suffering huge losses. However, it was on the Soviet territory that the blitzkrieg showed its limits. In this context, the amelioration of the allied forces readiness after the two first years of the war, and the vulnerability of the blitzkrieg to logistics and qualified manpower, reduced greatly its success after 1941. The adaptation of new defensive tactics by the allies has greatly contributed to the failure of the blitzkrieg. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The movement of funds between savers and those with productive investment opportunities is the means of creating growth. Europe s challenges with the Euro are complicated. The United States congress had trouble agreeing to enact legislature to raise its debt ceiling in order to meet its obligations and maintain its credit ratings. Without the power to print money individually, each country under the single currency must come together under combined policies. Today, Europe seems willing to reach combined policy decisions to avoid an economic disaster. Ultimately, if this happens, the Euro will have a stronger future just as the United States gained a stronger political and financial system from policies created as a result of the Great Depression. However, these relation can vary in amiability and affection. Whether due to similarities or differences in personality or circumstances in life, mothers and daughters can be close confidants or fierce foes. These familial relationships have been studied in part by Marianne Hirsch and Sharon M. Varallo in their essays on the familial gaze and the genre of family photographs, respectively. In this essay, I will be using the work previously done by Hirsch and Varallo to analyze two different mother daughter relationships presented in the television show Gilmore Girls. The two relationships differ vastly in their outward appearance, however both relationships show underlying characteristics of both friendship and animosity. Overall, these two mother daughter relationships demonstrate that the love between a mother and a daughter can be expressed in various ways. Gilmore Girls follows the lives of three women in the Gilmore family. Rory, the youngest, is a teenager at the beginning of the show. She is an only child and was raised by her single mother, Lorelai, in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai is in her thirties throughout the show. While this might seems amazing, it might not be as wonderful as imagined. In fact, maybe even the opposite might true as stated by numerous studies and research done since the 1970s. Lotteries have been reported to have possibly started all the way back in the Han Dynasty early 200 B.C. The first official record of a public lottery was in 1434 from the Dutch town of Sluis. The original idea of the lottery was to help the lower class and fortify townships. It was not until the 1600s when the more modern form of the lottery came about. Where one would buy a ticket for a small amount with the possibility to win a big cash purse. Later, around 1890 much scrutiny and distrust surrounded the lottery which eventually led to the United States stopping sales of tickets and made lotteries illegal. This was in effect until after World War II and the iconic modern lotteries started to come back into everyday lives. At first it was just separate state lotteries, but eventually in late 80s and early 90s interstate lotteries emerged which include the famous Mega Million, originally named The Big Game, and Powerball. Some of the success for the recent lotteries goes to the more credible system of checking and organizing tickets called the Marksense system. The allure of the lottery is for a small charge, usually $1 or $2, there is the possibility of winning millions. While the large majority of those who buy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By 1965, the federal government solidified its involvement within the realm of student financial aid by enacting the Higher Education Act. Title IV of the Act provided for a guaranteed loan program that carried with it the full promise of the U.S. government to repay private lenders if a student defaulted on their loan. The creation of this title lead to the creation of government subsidies, and eventually subsidized loans (Fuller). According to the Merriam Webster dictionary, a subsidy is defined as a grant by a government to a private person or company to assist an enterprise deemed advantageous to the public. The greater the amount of subsides that the government pays to lending institutions, the greater the guarantee that those lending institutions will continue to provide financial assistance to borrowers. Private lending institutions are guaranteed to turn a profit as a result of government subsidies, even if borrowers default on their loans. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The people of Japan work carefully to be successful in school, excel in the workplace, and to keep traditions in practice, and that is why the Japanese are industrious. The term industrious can describe Japan s education system for a few of reasons. The foremost reason is that Japan is diligent when educating their students. During primary education, what Americans consider elementary education, the students are grouped into four person teams. In each group, the students are paired by strengthens and weaknesses, in hopes that they can learn from and help each other to further their education. The Japanese education system is also diligent throughout their secondary education, which includes their middle and high school levels. They meticulously select what classes the students take, to ensure that each student is taking the needed academic courses, while also making sure they are taking an arts course. These are required because the Japanese believe that a mix of academics and arts creates a well rounded citizen. The Japanese education system can be categorized as industrious also because of the work ethics that are imparted during the students years. Japan has a highly regarded school system that pushes its students to excel. It does this by giving them the motivation to complete tasks they are given and more. This is evident in the widely used cram school , which is instruction after the normal school day to prepare for exams. The Japanese education ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The genius of the 50 s and 60 s, he provided the rich legacy for the future generations and set the pace for the directors all over the world. This paper is going to trace the specific features of Alfred Hitchcock through the analysis of three of his world known masterpieces, namely Vertigo, North by Northwest and Notorious. Genre Alfred Hitchcock is fairly referred to as the pioneer of the psychological thrillers. Though such genre did not exist in the 50 s, it would soon be transformed from the so called suspense films (Thompson 41). The Mission Of The American Counseling Association ( Aca ) The mission of the American Counseling Association (ACA) According to the Counseling.org website, the ACA s mission is to enhance the quality of life in society by promoting the development of professional counselors, advancing the counseling profession, and using the profession and practice of counseling to promote respect for human dignity and diversity . I interpret this as a wide array of assurances, through continuing education and enlightenment of counselors, and then the quality of services is improved upon by dedication. The ACA started out as the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA), and it originated because so many professional counselors were dissatisfied that they did not fit to the subscription of contemporary styles of mental health professionals (Palmo, Weikel Borsos, 2006). The advancement of the counseling profession began when the term professional counselor was recognized as a profession. • 27. Summary Of Fairy Tales From Angela Carter Burning Your Boats In this essay, I will be discussing different elements of fairy tales from Angela Carter Burning your Boats. I will be discussing The Loves of Lady Purple, Penetrating to the Heart of the Forest, The Bloody Chamber and The Werewolf. Between the four of these stories, they displace a wide variety of feminism that the Grimm Brothers and Anderson did not display. From reading The Loves of Lady Purple, this story didn t resemble a normal fairy tale, this story resembles gothic literature. Lady Purple was no princess, she was no queen of a kingdom or a castle, she was a cruel, vicious person. Lady purple was a vampire and Angela Carter described her as, white as chalk because it was covered with the skin of supplest white leather which also clothes her torso, jointed limbs and complication of extremities. Her beautiful hands seemed more like weapons because her nails were so long, five inches of pointed tin enameled scarlet, and she wore a wig of black hair arranged in a chignon more heavily elaborate than any human neck could have endured. This monumental chevelure was stuck through with many brilliant pins tipped with pieces of broken mirror so that, every time she moved, she cast a multitude of scintillating reflections which danced about the theatre like mice of light. Her clothes were all of deep, dark, slumberous colors profound pinks, crimson and the vibrating purple with which she was synonymous, a purple the color of bloods in a love suicide (Carter, p. 43, 1995). Lady Purple was not a typical woman in a fairy tale, if you want to call this story a fairy tale. In most fairy tales, women are passive, their hardly paid attention to, they re expected look a certain and act a certain way. Their Lady Purple was none of that, she was cruel, manipulative, she was not a true prostitute for she was the object on which men prostituted themselves. In most fairy tales, woman are portrayed as vampires who are gold diggers, but Lady Purple was in this case. I think the reason why Angela Carter wrote this story was to step away from the fairy tale approach. From reading this story, I did not pick up on any fairy tale elements. When I was reading this story, I thought there would be a love interest between Lady ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 30. The Weaknesses Of The Greenhouse Gas Theory The Weaknesses of the Greenhouse Gas Theory Greenhouses are used to grow crops such as tomatoes and lettuce under controlled conditions. Greenhouses consist of a framed building with transparent covering. Sunlight penetrates through the transparent covering to get to the plants inside. The plants and the soil absorb the sunlight and radiate some of the absorbed energy as heat. Quite often, greenhouses ventilate either through controlled openings or by fanning air around. The ventilation is necessary to avoid the build up of water vapor and to ensure that too much heat doesn t too negatively affect the plants. The key elements of the greenhouse are the outer shell that traps the air inside, the trapped air, and controlled ventilation. There are several weaknesses in the arguments supporting the greenhouse gas theory. These are explained in the following sections. Carbon dioxide is heavier than air. Carbon dioxide, deemed as the key offender in the greenhouse theory, is heavier than air. This means that its highest concentrations are close to the ground in low lying areas. Without the benefit of experiments to the prove the point, it can still be postulated that the highest concentrations of carbon dioxide are within 1000 meters (3,500 feet) above sea level, and concentrations will diminish as air climbs higher into the atmosphere. Incidentally, this is not unusual. Oxygen is known to diminish with elevation as well. Since carbon dioxide is most prevalent when close to ground level, it is unlikely that it would absorb significant levels of outgoing, long wavelength radiation (heat) and hold enough of it to influence global ... In all of the cases of 1970 the Congress chose to regulate instead of the alternatives; court penalties for polluters, tax penalties for employers with poor safety records, or government funded information programs. If the health and safety regulators were created in response to nonexistent crises, it is not surprising they have made little impact on morality rates. (Crickmer 1980) Sam Peltzman, University of Chicago economist, did a cost benefit analysis of the drug regulations that followed the thalidomide tragedy in Europe. In his analysis he focused on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which is alike the older single industry regulators and some of its problems are typical of most health and safety regulation. He found that the new drug laws were costing far more than the benefits achieved. In Britain more lives were being saved than in the U.S. due to the fewer restrictions on new drugs unlike the U.S. which have conservative policies towards new drugs. • 42. A Clockwork Orange, by Anthony Burgess Imagine having stolen, raped, and even murdered all at the age of 15. The new canon of dark literature and controversy has finally hit the stage. A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess written in 1962 could only be described in the old cockney expression queer as a clockwork orange . Meaning it is bizarre internally, but appears natural on the surface. The story begins with the protagonist and narrator Alex a 15 year old boy, who sets the bar for the most cold blooded and callous characters of literature. His droogs, Pete, Georgie and Dim, who was really dim, would spend their time in the Korova Milkbar drinking drug laced milk. After a good drink of the milk plus mesto, Alex and his three droogs were ready to commit the good old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Nadsat itself, symbolizes the adolescent stage of violence and would not give the same effect if it were not used. As Nixon states, Nasdat also lends plausibility to the setting of the work as a whole; gives readers the option of distancing themselves from the violence in the novel; and prevents the novel from becoming dated (15), gives each reader a different experience and have immense possibilities on how to view Alex as a character. The question of human morality has been discussed and argued for many years, and Anthony Burgess challenges the question of free will in A Clockwork Orange. First, what exactly is human morality? In a the journal of Strong Reciprocity and the Roots of Human Morality, clearly articulates the roots of morality: we argue that ethical behavior was fitness enhancing in the years marking the emergence of Homo sapiens because human groups with many altruists fared better than groups of selfish individuals, and the fitness losses sustained by altruists were more than compensated by the superior performance of the groups in which they congregated (Gintis, Henrich, Bowles, Boyd, Fehr 1). Though our human nature is to be good, Alex is the complete opposite. Alex is suddenly backstabbed by his companions while robbing a woman s house, who he murdered that night. Alex was sent to Jail and sentenced to 4 years in prison. He soon found out about ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Homeless People Could Be a Great Resource Have you ever felt so angry when you gave someone the money that you worked very hard to earn, and then he or she wasted it on some unacceptable purposes? Yes, it has been one of my first lessons since I immigrated to the United States. During January of 2012, most of the weekdays, my brother gave a homeless man some quarters or one dollar when we were going to work. This homeless man stood in an intersection and begged for charity from the public. However, my brother met him at a convenient store, and witnessed him buying some lotteries. Should this homeless man spend his begging money on gambling or on daily necessities such as foods and a place to sleep? Another example is a homeless man who bought three houses and had four wives with some children from public charity has been charged for tax problems. These men are a part of the large population of homeless citizens in the United States. According to the National Alliance to End Homelessness, the amount of homeless is roughly estimated to be between 2.3 million and 3.5 million people. That is approximately 1 in 100 people living without a home or living on the streets every night with no job, no car, and no responsibilities. Obviously, we need to figure out a way to fix these homeless problems. Many experts have discussed and suggested uncounted solutions. However, we could easily fix the homeless problem by gathering them and using them as a resource. As I mentioned, homeless people could be a great resource. Just ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Complementary And Alternative Therapies Discuss the various methods of complementary and alternative therapies. CAMS are divided into five different categories: biological, manipulative body, mind body, energy, and alternative medicine. For example, dance therapy would fall under the manipulative body based interventions, while mind body interventions encompass alternatives like poetry, art, or music, and yoga would be an example of mind body interventions and manipulative body. Participants in music therapy have reported improved quality of life, and yoga therapy has been shown to lead individuals towards motivation to health improvement. As well, dance therapy has been proven to improve body image, coordination, body awareness, depression, anxiety, and stress relief; as well, sexual abuse survivors have used dance therapy to reconnect with their body by coping and processing, as well as give them a sense of freedom from their trauma (Complementary and Integrative, n.d.). ... In conjunction with traditional therapies and treatment plans, it is proven to be very effective in regards to posture, gross motor skills, fine motor skills, as well as body and cognitive awareness. There is also extensive research done looking at how coping and communication skills improved in individuals since the start of hippotherapy (Ajzenman, Shurtleff, Standeven, ... In a decomposition reaction, a single compound undergoes a reaction that produces more than one product. The following general equation illustrates decomposition reactions: AB → A + B AB is a compound made of two or more elements. A and B are individual elements or compounds. Types of Decomposition Reactions: Binary compound, metal carbonate, metal chlorate, metal hydroxide, oxyacids In a combustion reaction, a compound or element reacts with oxygen, releasing a large amount of energy in the form of light and heat. they are exothermic, which means that energy is released by the reaction. Many combustion reactions involve the burning of organic compounds called hydrocarbons, compounds containing the elements carbon and hydrogen, or other organic compounds. When a hydrocarbon is burned completely, the products of the combustion reaction are usually carbon dioxide and water. Natural gas, propane, and wood all burn to produce carbon dioxide and water as the products.
