Default Pneumothoraxes Case Study
Background: Occult Pneumothoraxes (OPTX) represents air within the pleural space that is not visible
on conventional chest radiographs, but ultimately detected with CT . In a study comparing differences
in pneumothoraces, while similar in size, patients significantly underwent tube thoracostomy
compared with patients who had overt pneumothoraces1. While optimal management of occult
pneumothoraxes has not been identified, the increased use of computed tomography has led to a rise in
detection. Occult OPTX Extended focused assessment with sonography for Trauma, also known as
eFAST, is screening test that has been shown to useful in identifying OPTX. Our aim of the present
study is to identify if there are any differences in OPTX detections between

Employment Issues In Charlie s Flowers For Algernon
How has Charlie changed? After reading the novel Flowers for Algernon , many ask the golden
question. Some say the surgery had a positive effect on Charlie, as he gains intelligence and
understanding. However, that is not the case. Charlie s life was negatively impacted by the surgery
because of employment issues at his workplace, his regression, and he becomes more unfavorable
aware. First, the Charlie s life was negatively impacted by the surgery because of employment issues
at his workplace. As mentioned in the novel, Charlie states, Mr. Donnegan showed me the petition.

evidence proves that there were employment issues in Charlie s workplace.

October 1988 Revised March 2000
DM74LS47 BCD to 7 Segment Decoder/Driver with Open Collector Outputs
General Description
The DM74LS47 accepts four lines of BCD (8421) input data, generates their complements internally
and decodes the data with seven AND/OR gates having open collector outputs to drive indicator
segments directly. Each segment output is guaranteed to sink 24 mA in the ON (LOW) state and
withstand 15V in the OFF (HIGH) state with a maximum leakage current of 250 µA. Auxiliary inputs
provided blanking, lamp test and cascadable zero suppression functions.

The internal NAND gate that generates the RBO signal has a resistive pull up, as opposed to a totem
pole, and thus BI/ RBO can be forced LOW by external means, using wiredcollector logic. A LOW
signal thus applied to BI/RBO turns off all segment outputs. This blanking feature can be used to
control display intensity by varying the duty cycle of the blanking signal. A LOW signal applied to LT
turns on all segment outputs, provided that BI/RBO is not forced LOW.

Essay On Didone
A BRIEF HISTORY OF TYPE
Part Four: Modern (Didone)
In the previous installment of this series, we took a closer look at Transitional style typefaces, so
called because they mark a transition from the former Old Style types epitomized by Baskerville and
the subject of today s brief history, the Moderns, also known as Didone (the terms Modern and Didone
are used synonymously throughout this article).
Baskerville s types, compared with their Old Style (or Garalde) predecessors, are marked by high
contrast between thick and thin strokes, so much so that one commentator declared Baskerville was
blinding the nation. The Moderns or Didones take this contrast to further extremes (just about as far as
one can take them).

Well, I ve only just scratched the surface, but I hope that this has given you a taste of the Moderns. In

Dr. William Halsted
Dr. William Halsted was pivotal in perfecting surgical procedures and techniques that are still in use in
modern times, regardless that they were created over 100 years ago. In the late nineteenth century,
Halsted improved sanitary conditions in his residing hospitals in both New York and Baltimore,
invented revolutionary surgical procedures, anesthetic practices, and created aseptic techniques to
combat the frequency of infections and diseases that occurred post surgery (William Stewart Halsted,
2007). Besides his contributions to the medical field, Halsted was one of four founders of Johns
Hopkins, a prestigious medical college that still exists today (William Stewart Halsted).

From 1880 to 1886, Halsted was in the New York period , where he was the most exuberant and
sociable. Halsted spent his day visiting several places in need of his expertise such as Roosevelt
Hospital (running the outpatient department), Bellevue Hospital (where he created the bedside chart),
Chambers Street Hospital, Charity Hospital , Emigrant Hospital, and the College of Physicians and
Surgeons (Hruban). It can be assumed from his chaotic day that he liked to keep busy, whether out of
a sense of duty to humanity or to stave boredom is unknown. Oddly, Halsted was not known
extensively for his revolutionary procedures at this time, but his proficiency at existing techniques.
Theodor Kocher, a renowned German surgeon, swapped notes with Halsted (AN EXQUISITE),
proving that other doctors valued Halsted s advice and respected his knowledge. However, while
Halsted had a reputation as a socially active man and good doctor, he was not world renowned until
after 1886, the end of his time in New York.
Halsted first showed signs of ingenuity when his family was in jeopardy. Halsted s sister began
hemorrhaging after delivering her child, the attending doctors gave her up as a lost cause. Luckily,
Halsted was nearby and took over, saving her life by performing one of the first blood transfusions in
the U.S., using himself as a test subject. Tragedy almost struck again when Halsted s mother had

After Watching the Documentary Food Inc.
Watching the documentary Food Inc, there were a few points that stood out most to me. I think one of
the most important concerns that were brought up is the consumers not knowing the truth behind the
food. Whether there is actual harm in our food or not, we still need to know what is going into our
food. The harm that may actually be inside our food can be caused by how easy it is to produce crap
food now days. Making mass produced food is a lot easier than it has been in the past because genetics
have changed animals into growing faster and fatter. This causes harm to the environment by creating
factories for these foods to be made, which causes pollution by emitting many CO2 gasses. However
this isn t a concern for the producer. The producer is mainly focused on money they receive even if it
causes harm to the environment or the consumers. The use of pesticides and other substances are used
in foods, whether it s in the production of corn growing or in the food in general to help keep germs
out. This also causes harm to the consumer and environment that we should be aware of.
Throughout the film Food Inc, I noticed there were quite a few subtitles stating ... declined to
interview for this film. This made me ask myself to why they chose not to interview for this
documentary. This goes along the lines of point number one. All of the companies which preferred not
to interview for this film are hiding information from the consumers, information that would make us
not want to

How Does Caffeine Affect The Body
Everyone knows the feeling of waking up and making that morning cup of coffee to help kickstart
their day. But not many people think to wonder what effects the caffeine in that cup of coffee might
have on there day. There s many questions about caffeine like how much is too much, what types of
effects may it have on someone and are they good or bad, and is there a way to tell how much caffeine
is in a product? These are all things i am going to touch on in this essay to determine if caffeine
healthy for you to drink on a daily basis?
You might often wonder how much caffeine may be too much in a day. There is a limit for how much

Everyone at least once in there life has fallen into the stereo typical routine of having at least one cup

have both positive and negative effects on the body. According to healthline caffeine can not only help
with headaches but might also be the cause of them depending on how much you consume. The most
common reason for these headaches are sudden withdrawal from coffee as your body can become
dependant on it. It s also considered a diuretic which rids your body of water and can cause
dehydration in large amounts. Too much coffee can also cause heartburn and in some cases even
ulcers in the stomach.
More than likely if you ve ever drank soda or an energy drink you ll often see that it often says

The Importance Of Animal Testing
Animal Testing is Essential
On the other had, some individuals deem animal testing necessary for the furthering of the medical
field. There have been illnesses and diseases that have been eradicated due to animal experimenting.
One such disease a vaccine that was resulted by successful experimentation on animals to combat it is
the poliomyelitis vaccine
Continuing, one essential aspect to consider when evaluating the similarities between humans and
animals is the amount shared genes. According to Understanding Animal Research (2017), humans
share 95% of our genes with a mouse, making them an effective model for the human body ( Forty
Reasons Why..., 2017, para. 4). With 95% of DNA matching, animal experiments have provided

In the earlier years, poliomyelitis or polio was a crippling and deadly disease that claimed the lives of
millions of people or paralyzed its victims. The epidemic took the lives of more than 2.5 billion
children prior to the vaccination discovery ( History of Polio, YEAR). It was due to animal
experimentations that Dr. Jonas Salk discovered a vaccination to combat the deadly disease. Salk and
his team developed a method to produce large amounts of vaccine by cultivating the polioviruses in
the kidney tissues of monkeys ( Polio Cases, Deaths..., 2017). However, what few people know is that
it was also due to animal testing that the polio vaccine was delayed. According to David Wiebers, a
neuroscientist, and his colleagues at the Mayo Clinic, they revealed that the studies on the monkeys
also led to gross misconceptions delaying the fight against polio. (CITE) The experiments conducted
originally indicated that the polio virus infects mainly through the nervous system halting the search
for a cure. The erroneous conclusion contradicted the human studies which demonstrated that the
polioviruses primary route of infection was through the gastrointestinal system resulting in
misdirected preventive measures, delaying the development of a vaccine (CITE). When scientist
experiment on animals, a cure can often be thrown away in the animal trial appears misleading or
unsuccessful (Akhtar, 2014). An editorial in Nature Review Drug Discovery describes how

Gun Control Fallacies
The author makes several main claims throughout his articles such as, national news stories are
virtually never done on permit holders stopping mass public shootings, and the proposals put forward
by gun control advocates wouldn t have stopped this attack. The columnist firmly believes in the
power of the second amendment and as such, he wants to limit the amount of new laws that control
how much the people can hold and use weapons. The claims listed are claims of fact and policy
respectively. He gives several examples of how these different prevented mass shootings were not
widely advertised and how the ones that were not stopped were all over news stations to convince
people that guns are not helping the common people. The author then proposes that the changes that
gun control advocates propose will not make a difference and begins to give reasons why which
makes this a claim of policy. He says that making a change will not make any change so the laws
should be left the same as they are now, or they should be more inclusive to allow more people to
carry a concealed weapon.
One of the main fallacies that the author uses in his articles is a hasty generalization. He uses the
example of the Texas shooter and his bad background that would have prevented a weapons liscence
to make the generalization that, their proposals wouldn t have stopped any of the other mass public
shootings in the last couple decades. The author does not back this claim up very well and

Simon Bolivar The Dictator Essay
Simon Bolivar, The Liberator, is acclaimed by historians as one of the greatest Latin American
revolutionary leaders in history. Commonly referred to as the Washington for South American
revolutions (Slatta 3), Bolivar, has undoubtedly had a profound influence on the political state of
South America; but as Washington got rid of colonialists of one country, Bolivar liberated six from
Spanish rule. Although he managed to attain such a feat, historians often debate over the extent of his
influence and success, some even regarding him as a failure. As a liberator who scorned liberalism, a
soldier who disparaged militarism, a republican who admired monarchy (Lynch 1), Bolivar s legacy
has many different analyses. Although Bolivar may have failed in creating his ideal, unified Republic,

Argumentative Essay On Designer Babies
Imagine a world where having a baby was like looking through a menu at some fancy restaurant.
Imagine being able to choose how a baby will look and act. As mind boggling as it sounds, scientists
and researchers came across an unbelievable discovery: it is possible to design and edit a baby
however a person may like. Hanson asserts that personality, gender, appearance, intelligence, hair
color, and height can be changed using technology that was originally used for animals (Hanson).
These babies are called designer babies. Phillip Ball, a science writer, claims that it is possible to
change the genetic makeup of an unborn baby using bio technology. However, these changes can have
more negative effects than positive. Although most countries have not legislated the use of genetic
modification, studies have been done on human embryos in China (Ball).
According to The Ethics of Designer Babies article, a process called in vito fertilization must be done
before any genetic changes can be made. In this process, the mother s mature eggs are retrieved from
the ovaries and taken to a lab to be combined with sperm outside of the body. They are fertilized in a
petri dish. This is the reason why they are sometimes referred to as test tube babies. After fertilization,
the embryo is sent back into the mother s uterus and a third parent comes into play. The third parent,
or the donor, has his or her mitochondrial DNA inserted into the embryo, a process known as
cytoplasmic transfer.

Compare And Contrast Bud Light And Coor Light
There are many light beers out there in today s market that have their very own unique taste and
exquisite way to advertise their product. Within the light beer market the two well known beers are

intended beer, Whereas Coors Light takes more of a traditional stance. Bud Light on the other hand
advertise towards today society by giving us a summertime feeling with the cruise ship and the group
of people drinking while having a live band. Coors Light keeps a traditional look as being winter time,
with the Rocky Mountains, and bold letters that says, GIVE HEAT THE COLD SHOULDER. I
myself find I m more drawn into the Bud Light advertisement because of the season it s representing,
the color, and even the social event that s going on. Both Bud Light and Coors Light make excellence
light beers, but an appropriate choice depends on the beer drinker taste, finances, and household
accommodations. In the Bud Light advertisement the colors is the main thing you notice. Its many
different shades of blue with a hint of white which gives off a warm feeling almost like summertime.
Bud Light stays true to their colors whether it is in magazine to even their web page. The colors
remain blue like their cans and bottles. The text within it picture are not very big but the name of the
product which is Bud Light appears in five places throughout the advertisement. The name is pretty

A person s eventual welfare has very little to do with the adversities or difficulties that might bring

encourage readers to know that good things are ahead. Often when going through some ill luck, it can
be hard to see the benefits of the process, and this quote encourages readers to know that it is not for

God s Spirits Of Lust
Human Sacrifices
Satan s spirits of lust emerge in the pagan gods Baal, Molech, and Chemosh that are all mentioned in
the Bible; specifically, their practices often included distorted sexual acts, human sacrifices,
cannibalism, and the eating of blood that were distinctively traits of devil worship. Baal worship
became abundant throughout much of the ancient Middle East; concurrently, in early societies Baal
has a long history of perverted sex that is akin to Pan Worship within his cult rituals. Mount Hermon
turned out to be one of the major centers of Baal/Pan worship that involved the brutality of human
sacrifices. Baal obtained other god s identity, such as the horned Molech; well known for child
sacrifices. The various names and epithets of Baal occurring in the Old Testament and elsewhere were
derived from his various aspects and the localities of his worship. For the majority of people, the
cruelty of tormenting and murdering children becomes too devastating, believing that it just could not
have happened. On the contrary, the Bible s staunch position states numerous times concerning these
killings, and references how the Israelites served the idols of the heathen.
In 1870, Sir Charles Warren happened to be exploring in the Lebanon region on the summit of Mount
Hermon and found the ruins of a temple believed to belong to Baal. Similarly, this could be relevant to
the Bible s stating they ...destroy all their molten

launching their neem oil hair care products under the brand name Mira Neem.
Is Markt at risk and liable to NeemMiracle with respect to Trade Mark infringement, passing off,

No Trade Mark infringement for two reasons;
a) The mark or get up being used by Markt only similar in colour and not necessarily name, the word

b) NeemMiracle has not registered the trademark in either Australia or New Zealand.
There may be a case for passing off under common law and/or misleading and deceptive conduct

off to be successful we can refer to the classical trinity . In the Jiff Lemon Case Lord Oliver set out

passing off.
It can be argued that the getup of the Mira Neem product(s) is adopting a similar style or mark to

In 2002 Shell Canada, a large Oil and Gas company, launched the eStore software application to
service their price sensitive Agricultural market segment by offering a lower cost service. Calvin
Wright (eProduct manager) helped implement the eStore application, which was geared to service this
Agricultural Segment market. The Agricultural Segment was considered by Shell to be high costs

IT developed an application that was to be used by the Agricultural Segment, however the eStore
design was not created nor considered by the customer user friendly (complex security password
design). Such complex features are more likely to be seen in Intranets. Since this application is
supposed to act as an eStore more security should have been implemented for the invoicing portion,
and less when browsing for a product.
What differences are evidenced in this case between the development and deployment of customer
facing applications versus employee facing applications? How did the type of application affect the
use of eStore?
When developing the eStore, Shell did not seem to adhere too much to the customers needs, but rather
servicing the needs of the company (developed a cost effective system). In the consultant report it is
identified that customers had trouble differentiating which login application they should choose since
they presumed to be presented with two options. The customer had the perception that by using the
left side of the screen they would use an insecure login (Rainer, 2008, pg. 176). The IT development
of eStore was approached as being used by someone that had some application knowledge and

relationship with the United States. The phrase Puerto Rico in crisis , in its political context, refers the
fact that Puerto Rico has never had political sovereignty since 1898. Instead the U.S. established and

Puerto Rican politics that make up the political crisis. The first aspect is the fact that Puerto Rico has
never secured political autonomy or sovereignty to govern itself under the U.S.. The second aspect is
that Puerto Rican voters have never been able to unify their support under one method of attaining

Outline on the Free Will Argument Essay
The Free Will Argument (There is Free Choice) I. Introduction a. Attention Gatherer: Nothing is
completely random, and everything is determined, as the determinist would say, but as humans, there
is such a thing as self determinism. Each action has a cause, it is not random, and it is rational, but it is
also a choice. Each individual can choose to do a multitude of things, and thus the actions are free, and
they are not wholly predictable, but they are not wholly unpredictable either. b. Thesis: Free Will is
Free Choice. c. Summary: i. Premise 1: God knows every choice a person can and will make, because

Every action cannot be a cause and effect if there is a choice to change from one belief to another. vi.
Saint Aquinas attempted to explain God as the first mover, and that all things followed after God s
initial cause. But also, It was Adam the first man, who chose to bring sin into the world, God did not
cause that to be, and neither did anything outside of Adam, and therefore it was Adam s self
determinant choice to sin against the laws of God. vii. Premise 3: 4. Adam s decision was made by his
subjective ability to reason. There is no way for a scientist or other being to take apart Adam and
physically analyze Adam s ability to reason. Since choices and reasoning are not at all physical, they
cannot share a physical cause and effect relationship, and have nothing to do with determinist s causal
relationship philosophy. 5. A man takes a woman on a date. At the end of the date, the man gives the
woman a choice as to whether or not she wants him to take her home or to take her back to his home.
The woman will make this choice, and though the prediction of what she will do can be determined
through the physical and outward experiences of the evening, what cannot be seen in the prediction is
the woman s personal reasoning, and even though the evening could have been a horrible one, she
may choose to go home with him in attempt to give the man another chance. III.

Furthermore, architects can incorporate off site renewable energy into their work, like wind energy to
avoid the use of fossil fuel energy. Most of California s latest buildings have already incorporated the
carbon neutral strategy, and it has now been made a standard for all innovative projects (Challenge).
The 2030 Challenge has encouraged many companies to start designing eco friendly and with the
more attention the issue gets, the more successful the world will be in reversing global warming.
Enlightening the architecture field on how buildings are polluting the world is the first step to solving
global warming matters. Change is often times a difficult task and most people are not willing to alter
their habits. Although without the change of design to green practices, architects will just keep hurting
the world and its climate. Because architects have been designing for many years, it will be hard for
the experts to convert their work into zero carbon designs (Budds). Each firm should inform their
architecture team about the 2030 Challenge and plan to start acting now. The next step should be
eliminating previous building designs and converting the carbon neutral designs to a standard
(Mazria). There is now an online tool created for architects to give them the best information and
illustrate new ideas for their designs so the transition is not as problematic, it is called the 2030 Palette

How To Build Suspense In Minority Report
John Anderton, played by Tom Cruise, is a cop in 2054 that works for Pre Crime located in
Washington D.C.. This future organization relies on precogs which are people with psychic abilities,
to predict future murders. While Anderton is working at Pre Crime, he is predicted to kill someone and
his all of his friends turn on him. Danny Witwer, who is a member of the United States Department of
Justice investigating Pre Crime, decides to take control of Pre Crime while John is on the run. John
has to uncover the truth behind his murder prediction and learn other truths along the way. This 2002

All throughout the film John keeps seeing the same echo , a flashback from the precogs about a
terrible murder, from the precog Agatha which shows a woman named Anne Lively being drowned by
a masked man. This scene foreshadows why John was targeted in the first place. The echo was not an
echo at all. It was Agatha trying to show John that Anne had actually been murdered. The Minority
Report obviously has a lot of blended words in Pre Crime and precogs . The prefix pre is a
abbreviation for predict. Pre Crime is a organization that predicts crime, and precogs are people that
predict crime as well. Minority Report also has a paradox because Agatha claims that John has a
choice to change his future. Pre Crime says that everything the precogs predict is accurate, although
John killed Crow a few minutes after he was predicted to. Also, Agatha s visions showed Lamar
killing John, but Lamar actually ended up killing himself. Does this mean the precogs only predict one
of many different outcomes for the future, or did the people always have the power to change their
decisions like Lamar

standard whereby it can be related to stated references, usually national or international standards,
through an unbroken chain of comparisons all having stated uncertainties. It can be seen more

The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie Summary
In The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie narration is a key element in the appeal of the story. The book starts
off in medias res and continues to make use of both analepses and prolepses. Many believe that an
omniscient narrator, in part because of the anachrony, recounts the book but in this essay I will argue
that the book has an unreliable narrator through examination of the narration of character of Mary. On
many occasions Muriel Spark uses narration to endorse the treatment of Mary by the other characters,
meaning that the story s narration contains the opinions of the narrator. If the narrator is unreliable in
the account of Mary, then that brings into question the entire narrative discourse since the reader no

Creativity has been an inherent part of human experience since remote times when visual forms
helped our ancestors to communicate leaving us with many recorded moments of their history. In a
creative process multiple aspects bind together, things come out the intellect but also there are other
states of consciousness and unconsciousness phenomena involved. A similar thing occurs in the
contemplation of a piece, where we can have different interpretations, various sensations and opinions,

Definition Of Failure Essay
Failure Everyone in this world is different. We all have different personalities, looks, and ways of
doing things, but one thing we all have in common is failure. At some point and time, in any person s
life, they have failed at a task. Regardless of how little or how small the letdown, we all have
experienced it a time or two in our lives. The definition of failure is simply the lack of success, which
can completely destroy a person, or motivate them to become better. Everyone has experienced
failure, but what a person does after that failure is what arrays them separately from the crowd.
Personally, I have experienced failure often, but not as often as my success. As a young person trying
to figure out the rest if my life, I have learned a lot of information about myself while in the process of
turning my failures into successes. I have discovered my strengths, weaknesses, and what motivates

something that everyone experiences, it has become one of my strengths. Failure is something that has
never settled to well with me, mainly because my family always maintained high expectations. When I
find myself in situations where I have failed, it later drives me to try again, and to keep pushing
forward until failure is not an option. Making good grades in school, keeping up with community
service, working full time, and pursuing a career in nursing, have not been easy tasks. Certainly I have
not been perfect at each and every one of these events, but it has taught me how to harness my

Sex Tourism in Colombia
SEX TOURISM IN COLOMBIA Sex tourism is a business of constant upward expands, that takes
different forms as countries change their laws to combat it. The economic globalization has made this
crime a global crime , and new methods of communication , travel deals at the lowest prices and
poverty are some of the phenomena that drive those seeking to commit such crimes or trade sex go to
destinations where they can get away without any of the law fall on them. There is a great
contradiction in terms talking about sex tourism, if this trade happens between adults and with the
agreement of both sides, organizations responsible for combating it, say it is a phenomenon that can
not be measured because it is supposed to be exercised freely. although we are aware that this is not
the reality, that many people sold their body for some food, and are simply slaves of poverty and have
no other option says Debora d Aleva , a member of ECPAT ( End Child Prostitution , Pornography
And Trafficking in children for sexual ministering purposes ),an ONG organization working to
completely eliminate child abuse in tourist destinations . The profile of the sex tourist , however , it is
increasingly clear in the reports prepared by this UNICEF dependent organization. For the most part
these are young people between 30 years old, professionals who have very good management of

The Feminization Of Globalization
Because of the way gender operates in society and culture, the majority of those most affected by the
connected systems of globalization and neoliberalism in nations like Indonesia and Vietnam are
women. This is something various scholars, including Hawkesworth, might refer to as the
feminization of globalization which is tied to some other systemic gendered processes. According to
Hawkesworth, not do women make up 70 percent of the poor globally, but the poor are actually
constructed as a feminized category, in how they are regarded as dependent, subrational, and in need
of direction (23). This feminization of poverty (Hawkesworth, 23) means that the large group of
people in the world who are both poor and women key targets for the neoliberal strategies of
economic influence highlighted above. Moreover, many women are tied to dependents through
culturally and socially constructed attitudes about gender that essentialize women s ties to
motherhood. As Joane Nagel demonstrated in Gender and Sea Level Rise, as was the case for women
in Bangledesh during Cyclone Marian, in times of hardship women are expected to care for children,
the elderly, and the home (61). Women are also expected to meet this responsibility through self
sacrifice. One might call this an example of the feminization of care. Following the interactions of
these gendered processes, it is no surprise that women are the ones employed by Nike in countries
where the IMF and WB, and the connected systems

Research Paper On Teenagers And Alcohol
Teenagers and Alcohol Research Paper Everyday is a new beginning full of opportunities which entail
decision making. Now, there is a multitude of choices that can be made, some smart, some quick, and
the list goes on. However, when the question comes up about teens and drinking, the answers should
always be smart this is just not the case in most instances. Alcohol comes with consequences,
regardless of age. The impact on lives is almost always negative, with the ability to ruin lives within
just a few drinks. Teenagers and Alcohol are not supposed to be mixed for numerous reasons such as
the detrimental impact on the young mind and body, lessened self control, and lowered academic
performance. The question that is frequently asked among teens who feel as if they want to
experiment with alcohol is whether or not a safe form of alcohol exists. Contrary to popular belief in
teen culture, no, there is not a ¨safe¨ form of alcohol. There is alcohol in every alcoholic drink, the

Congress s Powers Of The Constitution
In order for something to be broken it must have been whole to begin with, let us first discuss what
Congress used to represent and how it used to function. Most everyone knows that Congress is
bicameral and consists of two parts: The House of Representatives and The Senate. Congress s powers
are outlined in Article I of the Constitution. The framers formed two parts of Congress so that they
would balance each other out: no one branch would become too powerful and the laws would be more
complex and well thought. The Constitution had initially intended for the legislative branch (Congress)
to be the most powerful branch of government and at the beginning of post constitution United States
history it was. Congress was given the powers to enact laws (Gateways to Democracy, pp. 388).The
Framers were purposeful in making sure that Congress represented each individual state by allowing
each state to have two senators and for the number of representatives to be dependent on the size of
each state, thereby balancing out the powers each state had in Congress (Gateways to Democracy, pp.
389). The framers made it an even level playing field: whoever was most qualified to be elected into
Congress was usually elected. In the present day, money speaks louder than quality when it comes to
elections. Fundraising and lobbying are a problem in politics in general, but it has corrupted Congress.
As Lawrence Lessig discusses in How to get our Democracy Back: There will be no Change until we

Social Deviance And Social Deviance
Social deviance is considered a broad term, it tends to describe actions or behaviors that violate
society s norms. Norms, in a simple context, are rules by, which members of society are expected to
conform to. When it comes to discussing the term deviance, it tends to mean a person s failure to
conform to unspoken rules established by society. Social deviance can have many forms and
interpretations. Deviant acts are primarily relative to the setting because deviance in one place could
be considered non deviance in another place. Theft, violence, murder, or any kind of criminal
behavior, can be considered either deviant or non deviant, depending on the context. It s coming up to
countries, establishments, and governing bodies to determine, which acts are and aren t acceptable. An
example, could be murdering someone for drugs is not acceptable, but murdering someone in an act of
self defense is. It can be concluded, all acts of deviance are subjected to review and accepted on the
condition that it fits what society holds acceptable. Acts of deviance can result in some very positive
outcomes.(Why is this here?) Everyone has unconsciously committed an act of deviance, in addition,
have conformed to society s norms, as well. A un establish rule in society is to always pay for one s
food prior to consumption. However, I do not always conform to this social norm. For example, when

Kinship In Dr. Gregory Boyle s Tattoos On The Heart
Living in a diverse community while maintaining a state of accord is onerous. It is innate to regard
that one self s unrivaled conduct and notion are factual, which leads society to become perplexed by
that which they deem foreign. Thus, when one denounces another s truth chaos ensues. Fr. Gregory
Boyle offers that compassion and kinship are necessary to live in harmony yet, kinship cannot stand
alone, and compassion must be present to create unanimity. Kinship implies that compassion is
present, but that is not always correct yet, with compassion a perceived kinship is always present. To

Clever and Travieso was deep rooted and personal and for that reason Fr. Boyle enforced that he
would fire the homies if they were not civil. Six months later, a rival gang pulled Travieso into an
alley and attacked him. After arriving at the hospital the doctors declared him brain dead. Clever
called Fr. Boyle after Travieso s family removed him from life saving measures and asked if there was
anything he could do for Travieso. Fr. Boyle inquired why Clever wanted to help his enemy to which

Examples Of Conflict In The Workplace
Conflict In The Workplace
In this short document conflict will be defined, examples of conflict will be describe, conflict in the
workplace will be elaborated on, tactics will be given to best deal with a conflict scenario in the
workplace and positive examples of conflict will be described.
Conflict is easy to understand, but defining it is difficult. Rioux and Redekop define conflict as an
antagonistic relationship between two or more parties over intractable differences regarding what is
mutually significant to parties involved. There are various different types of conflict such as
interpersonal, intrapersonal, intragroup, international and global conflict. This short document is going
to describe conflict in the workplace, which is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If that individual succeeds in doing this, it can or will cause resentment and future arguments or will
lead to someone else getting the blame. In order to deal with this issue is to walk away giving that
individual with emotional difficulties some breathing space and then return later to talk to them about
how to resolve their issue.
Knowing what Important it is very common in the workplace that the smallest of issues can grow to
large disputes. It is important to acknowledge that minor issues will take place now and again and that
they should stay at a minor level.
Resolving Disputes It is difficult to see how an organisation can learn without such problems and
difficulties, therefore these problems are some like opportunities to deepen the understanding and to
adapt plans suitable to all employees. If issues are going to become large disputes in the workplace it

Puritan Ethic Essay
The Puritan Ethic, is it What God Wanted?
The Puritans were a people that moved to North America in order to escape religious persecution in
the mid 17th century. They had very strict rules that they were required to live by if they wanted to
make it to Heaven. Because of this, many stories have been written about them, including 1952 s
Crucible by Arthur Miller. This story is about the witch trials that were held in Salem, Massachusetts.
This story is particularly interesting because it is based on true events, and for this reason, there are
many parts to analyze. As it turns out, there is a theory that relates almost directly with their actions,
Structuralism. Applying the Structuralism Theory to the Crucible helps readers understand the reason
why the Puritans are so ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because their system is built on a foundation of faith and trust, if this is left in the dust, they have
nothing to hold the rest up. This is where the Structuralism theory gets even stronger. Humans need a
higher power, they need something bigger than them to explain all the bad things that happen. Because
their need is so powerful, they lose their common sense. The result of this is very easy to see and is the
entire plot of the story. The officials refuse to believe the someone could be lying to them to cause
trouble and to save themselves, which results in lots of death, pain, and suffering.
In closing, the Structuralist Theory is extremely useful in determining the reasons for the actions of
the church officials in the Crucible. After applying it, the causes of their actions become much more
clear and the harshness can be excused to an extent. It gives the analyzer a line of sight into the mind
of the leader and that if this was not dealt with, they knew that both their beliefs and those of the
people who they lead, would all be

Genetic Transformation Lab
Genetic transformation occurs when an organism is modified by the introduction of new genetic
information which is then incorporated into the organism s genome. In this lab, engineered proteins
containing DNA to absorb blue light and emit green light were incorporated into E.coli bacteria. The
main purpose of this lab was to transform E. coli by forcing it to uptake plasmid containing an
ampicillin resistance gene and a green fluorescent protein (GFP) using complementation (adding
antibiotic resistance in addition to weed out non transformed cells). To see the effects of this plasmid
on cells, bacteria treated with the plasmid were grown 3 different growth mediums: agar,
agar/ampicillin(+), agar/ ampicillin(+)/PTG(+). With the plates prepared, ... Show more content on

The transformation efficiency is the efficiency by which cells can take up extracellular DNA and
express genes encoded by it. The results from this lab show that this efficiency was 0. There was no
ramification of findings for this lab because the expected results were not obtained. If there were
successful outcomes, more research on gene insertion in bacteria for insulin production and cancer
research could have been further built upon. Since the transformation efficiency calculation was 0,
there were many errors that have arisen. The main problem was there was no control growth, which
means there was a bacterial problem with the culture. Another error could have been problems with
the broth and CaCl2 solutions. With regards to the GFP protein and its ability to be tracked using UV
light, is there another protein out there that scientists and doctors can track without using a UV light,

Essay On Didone A BRIEF HISTORY OF TYPE Part Four: Modern (Didone) In the previous installment of this series, we took a closer look at Transitional style typefaces, so called because they mark a transition from the former Old Style types epitomized by Baskerville and the subject of today s brief history, the Moderns, also known as Didone (the terms Modern and Didone are used synonymously throughout this article). Baskerville s types, compared with their Old Style (or Garalde) predecessors, are marked by high contrast between thick and thin strokes, so much so that one commentator declared Baskerville was blinding the nation. Dr. William Halsted Dr. William Halsted was pivotal in perfecting surgical procedures and techniques that are still in use in modern times, regardless that they were created over 100 years ago. In the late nineteenth century, Halsted improved sanitary conditions in his residing hospitals in both New York and Baltimore, invented revolutionary surgical procedures, anesthetic practices, and created aseptic techniques to combat the frequency of infections and diseases that occurred post surgery (William Stewart Halsted, 2007). Besides his contributions to the medical field, Halsted was one of four founders of Johns Hopkins, a prestigious medical college that still exists today (William Stewart Halsted). It can be assumed from his chaotic day that he liked to keep busy, whether out of a sense of duty to humanity or to stave boredom is unknown. Oddly, Halsted was not known extensively for his revolutionary procedures at this time, but his proficiency at existing techniques. Theodor Kocher, a renowned German surgeon, swapped notes with Halsted (AN EXQUISITE), proving that other doctors valued Halsted s advice and respected his knowledge. However, while Halsted had a reputation as a socially active man and good doctor, he was not world renowned until after 1886, the end of his time in New York. Halsted first showed signs of ingenuity when his family was in jeopardy. Halsted s sister began hemorrhaging after delivering her child, the attending doctors gave her up as a lost cause. • 9. After Watching the Documentary Food Inc. Watching the documentary Food Inc, there were a few points that stood out most to me. I think one of the most important concerns that were brought up is the consumers not knowing the truth behind the food. Whether there is actual harm in our food or not, we still need to know what is going into our food. The harm that may actually be inside our food can be caused by how easy it is to produce crap food now days. Making mass produced food is a lot easier than it has been in the past because genetics have changed animals into growing faster and fatter. This causes harm to the environment by creating factories for these foods to be made, which causes pollution by emitting many CO2 gasses. However this isn t a concern for the producer. The producer is mainly focused on money they receive even if it causes harm to the environment or the consumers. The use of pesticides and other substances are used in foods, whether it s in the production of corn growing or in the food in general to help keep germs out. This also causes harm to the consumer and environment that we should be aware of. Throughout the film Food Inc, I noticed there were quite a few subtitles stating ... declined to interview for this film. This made me ask myself to why they chose not to interview for this documentary. This goes along the lines of point number one. All of the companies which preferred not to interview for this film are hiding information from the consumers, information that would make us not want to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the earlier years, poliomyelitis or polio was a crippling and deadly disease that claimed the lives of millions of people or paralyzed its victims. The epidemic took the lives of more than 2.5 billion children prior to the vaccination discovery ( History of Polio, YEAR). It was due to animal experimentations that Dr. Jonas Salk discovered a vaccination to combat the deadly disease. Salk and his team developed a method to produce large amounts of vaccine by cultivating the polioviruses in the kidney tissues of monkeys ( Polio Cases, Deaths..., 2017). However, what few people know is that it was also due to animal testing that the polio vaccine was delayed. According to David Wiebers, a neuroscientist, and his colleagues at the Mayo Clinic, they revealed that the studies on the monkeys also led to gross misconceptions delaying the fight against polio. (CITE) The experiments conducted originally indicated that the polio virus infects mainly through the nervous system halting the search for a cure. The erroneous conclusion contradicted the human studies which demonstrated that the polioviruses primary route of infection was through the gastrointestinal system resulting in misdirected preventive measures, delaying the development of a vaccine (CITE). • 12. Gun Control Fallacies The author makes several main claims throughout his articles such as, national news stories are virtually never done on permit holders stopping mass public shootings, and the proposals put forward by gun control advocates wouldn t have stopped this attack. The columnist firmly believes in the power of the second amendment and as such, he wants to limit the amount of new laws that control how much the people can hold and use weapons. The claims listed are claims of fact and policy respectively. He gives several examples of how these different prevented mass shootings were not widely advertised and how the ones that were not stopped were all over news stations to convince people that guns are not helping the common people. The author then proposes that the changes that gun control advocates propose will not make a difference and begins to give reasons why which makes this a claim of policy. He says that making a change will not make any change so the laws should be left the same as they are now, or they should be more inclusive to allow more people to carry a concealed weapon. One of the main fallacies that the author uses in his articles is a hasty generalization. He uses the example of the Texas shooter and his bad background that would have prevented a weapons liscence to make the generalization that, their proposals wouldn t have stopped any of the other mass public shootings in the last couple decades. The author does not back this claim up very well and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Argumentative Essay On Designer Babies Imagine a world where having a baby was like looking through a menu at some fancy restaurant. Imagine being able to choose how a baby will look and act. As mind boggling as it sounds, scientists and researchers came across an unbelievable discovery: it is possible to design and edit a baby however a person may like. Hanson asserts that personality, gender, appearance, intelligence, hair color, and height can be changed using technology that was originally used for animals (Hanson). These babies are called designer babies. Phillip Ball, a science writer, claims that it is possible to change the genetic makeup of an unborn baby using bio technology. However, these changes can have more negative effects than positive. Although most countries have not legislated the use of genetic modification, studies have been done on human embryos in China (Ball). According to The Ethics of Designer Babies article, a process called in vito fertilization must be done before any genetic changes can be made. In this process, the mother s mature eggs are retrieved from the ovaries and taken to a lab to be combined with sperm outside of the body. They are fertilized in a petri dish. This is the reason why they are sometimes referred to as test tube babies. After fertilization, the embryo is sent back into the mother s uterus and a third parent comes into play. The third parent, or the donor, has his or her mitochondrial DNA inserted into the embryo, a process known as cytoplasmic transfer. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

God s Spirits Of Lust Human Sacrifices Satan s spirits of lust emerge in the pagan gods Baal, Molech, and Chemosh that are all mentioned in the Bible; specifically, their practices often included distorted sexual acts, human sacrifices, cannibalism, and the eating of blood that were distinctively traits of devil worship. Baal worship became abundant throughout much of the ancient Middle East; concurrently, in early societies Baal has a long history of perverted sex that is akin to Pan Worship within his cult rituals. Mount Hermon turned out to be one of the major centers of Baal/Pan worship that involved the brutality of human sacrifices. Baal obtained other god s identity, such as the horned Molech; well known for child sacrifices. The various names and epithets of Baal occurring in the Old Testament and elsewhere were derived from his various aspects and the localities of his worship. For the majority of people, the cruelty of tormenting and murdering children becomes too devastating, believing that it just could not have happened. On the contrary, the Bible s staunch position states numerous times concerning these killings, and references how the Israelites served the idols of the heathen. No Trade Mark infringement for two reasons; a) The mark or get up being used by Markt only similar in colour and not necessarily name, the word neem may be argued to be descriptive. and b) NeemMiracle has not registered the trademark in either Australia or New Zealand. There may be a case for passing off under common law and/or misleading and deceptive conduct under S 18 ACL . It can be argued that the getup of the Mira Neem product(s) is adopting a similar style or mark to NeemMiracle with respect to choice of colour, font and naming of the product; further argued that the confusing labelling of the product without any disclaimer may misrepresent the Mira Neem product as part of the products currently produced and marketed by NeemMiracle. Each action has a cause, it is not random, and it is rational, but it is also a choice. Each individual can choose to do a multitude of things, and thus the actions are free, and they are not wholly predictable, but they are not wholly unpredictable either. b. The Feminization Of Globalization Because of the way gender operates in society and culture, the majority of those most affected by the connected systems of globalization and neoliberalism in nations like Indonesia and Vietnam are women. This is something various scholars, including Hawkesworth, might refer to as the feminization of globalization which is tied to some other systemic gendered processes. According to Hawkesworth, not do women make up 70 percent of the poor globally, but the poor are actually constructed as a feminized category, in how they are regarded as dependent, subrational, and in need of direction (23). This feminization of poverty (Hawkesworth, 23) means that the large group of people in the world who are both poor and women key targets for the neoliberal strategies of economic influence highlighted above. Congress s Powers Of The Constitution In order for something to be broken it must have been whole to begin with, let us first discuss what Congress used to represent and how it used to function. Most everyone knows that Congress is bicameral and consists of two parts: The House of Representatives and The Senate. Congress s powers are outlined in Article I of the Constitution. The framers formed two parts of Congress so that they would balance each other out: no one branch would become too powerful and the laws would be more complex and well thought. The Constitution had initially intended for the legislative branch (Congress) to be the most powerful branch of government and at the beginning of post constitution United States history it was. Congress was given the powers to enact laws (Gateways to Democracy, pp. 388).The Framers were purposeful in making sure that Congress represented each individual state by allowing each state to have two senators and for the number of representatives to be dependent on the size of each state, thereby balancing out the powers each state had in Congress (Gateways to Democracy, pp. 389). The framers made it an even level playing field: whoever was most qualified to be elected into Congress was usually elected. • 49. Puritan Ethic Essay The Puritan Ethic, is it What God Wanted? The Puritans were a people that moved to North America in order to escape religious persecution in the mid 17th century. They had very strict rules that they were required to live by if they wanted to make it to Heaven. Because of this, many stories have been written about them, including 1952 s Crucible by Arthur Miller. This story is about the witch trials that were held in Salem, Massachusetts. This story is particularly interesting because it is based on true events, and for this reason, there are many parts to analyze. Humans need a higher power, they need something bigger than them to explain all the bad things that happen. Because their need is so powerful, they lose their common sense. The result of this is very easy to see and is the entire plot of the story. The officials refuse to believe the someone could be lying to them to cause trouble and to save themselves, which results in lots of death, pain, and suffering. It gives the analyzer a line of sight into the mind of the leader and that if this was not dealt with, they knew that both their beliefs and those of the people who they lead, would all be ... • 50. Genetic Transformation Lab Genetic transformation occurs when an organism is modified by the introduction of new genetic information which is then incorporated into the organism s genome. In this lab, engineered proteins containing DNA to absorb blue light and emit green light were incorporated into E.coli bacteria. The main purpose of this lab was to transform E. coli by forcing it to uptake plasmid containing an ampicillin resistance gene and a green fluorescent protein (GFP) using complementation (adding antibiotic resistance in addition to weed out non transformed cells). To see the effects of this plasmid on cells, bacteria treated with the plasmid were grown 3 different growth mediums: agar, agar/ampicillin(+), agar/ ampicillin(+)/PTG(+). With the plates prepared, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The transformation efficiency is the efficiency by which cells can take up extracellular DNA and express genes encoded by it. The results from this lab show that this efficiency was 0. There was no ramification of findings for this lab because the expected results were not obtained. If there were successful outcomes, more research on gene insertion in bacteria for insulin production and cancer research could have been further built upon. Since the transformation efficiency calculation was 0, there were many errors that have arisen. The main problem was there was no control growth, which means there was a bacterial problem with the culture. Another error could have been problems with the broth and CaCl2 solutions.
