Evaluation 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
1. Looking back at your
preliminary task,what do
you feel you have learnt in
the progression from it to
full product?
2. Photography
My prelim task image and my final
image for my finished front cover are
very different, for one the quality of my
final image is much better than my
prelim as i took it on a camera with a
higher megapixel. Also the lighting on
my prelim is really bad as there is no
focus on the model and it’s shadowed
behind. The image quality for my final
product is better as the lighting that is
shone on the models creates a brighter
picture and the image looks sharper.
The area of space that is provided for
mastheads and articles has not
changed, however this is an obvious
convention for a magazine.
The simpler background in my final
product made it easier for me to put
words onto and so it was still clear to
see.
3. Layout
I think the layout of both of my
magazines are very different, but both
strong in their separate ways. My
prelim task has a very conventional
outline with a masthead, articles and
headings.
With my final product i have a simple
and original product with a good layout
that allows the image to still be seen. I
think in a way i’m disappointed though
as my final product is lacking structure
and purpose.
When i was creating my prelim i was
looking a lot at the pull quotes and
articles on the side, however i was
more focused of the masthead and
image behind it and how it would
appeal to my audience.
4. Consistency of the colours
I think my consistency of colours has stayed the same as through my prelim and final products, i kept the colour scheme
all throughout the pages i did to keep the flow of the magazine going. On my prelim it focuses on the school logo although
the colours are harsh and sharp to look at, but when looking at my final product it is faded but coloured and it’s much
easier on the eyes.
When looking at my final product the colours light blue and sandy yellow is continued through the magazine to highlight
the important parts of the magazine. Black and white is used as well as the shadow on the logo and also on the contents
page and double page spread it’s used as two of the main colours as the background and writing which goes over it easily
and bold.
