1. 社会的価値 (social values) と態度 (attitudes)
1. 社会的価値とは、「何らかの社会集団のメンバーに利用可能 な経験的内容と意味
をもち、その意味に関連して、活動の対象であるか、そうなり うるあらゆる資料
any datum having an empirical content accessible to the members of some social group
and a meaning with regard to which it is or may be an object of activity」である。食
物、貨幣、大学、科学理論等はその例である (トーマス/ズナニエッキ([1918-20]
1983: 21, Znaniecki 1969: 69)。
2. 態度とは、「個々人の意識的過程であって、その社会的世界におけるその人の現
実のまたは可能な活動を決定するもの a process of individual consciousness which
determines real or possible activity of the individual in the social world 」である。たと
えば、空腹感は食物という価値をもとめる行為を決定する個人的過程。

1. Blumer
1. 「ある人を憎むということは、かれを 憎まれる対象として見ることである。一つの
対象 (すなわち価値) として、かれの「憎まれる」特徴は、憎む態度と ともに発現
するのである。 To hate a person is to view him as a hated object; as an object (or value),
his “hated” character emerges with the attitude of hatred」(ブルーマー [1939: 24- 82]
(1983): 172)。
2. Znaniecki
1. 「価値の意味が この価値へ向かう態度と混同されてはならない。というのは、それ
(ある価値の意味) とは、それが行為者にとっのその価値の関連性にあるのではな
く、かれによって現にあるいは潜在的に経験される、他の諸価値との関連性にある
からである。ある 単語の意味は、それが指示する諸対象との間の象徴的関連であ
るが、この語に対す る態度とは、たとえば、それが高級だとか、低級だとか、聖
的だとか、俗的だとか という評価のことである。(ズナニエッキ [1979] 1983: 93)

1. 「われわれが学んだ―あるいは、われわれが例証した―のは、社会秩序の問題が、そ
の構成の中で、いつでもそれを描く言語に相対的であるということであった。したが
って、分析的に社会秩序の問題を代表するための可能な方法は、きわめて多数にな
る。秩序の諸理論が実際には一定数しかないということから、自文化中心主義
ethnocentrism が分析的理論の道筋に置いたさまざまな制約を疑わざるを得ない。その
ような自文化中心の影響力がいかに微妙なものでありうるかは、フッサールが「自然
的態度」とよんだものの現象学について、われわれが今日よりももっとよく知るまで
は、あきらかになるまい。」
2. あらゆる言語 (または、理論) が一つの規約以上のものではないかどうか、そして事
実いかなる社会学的理論もイデオロギー以上のものになりうるかどうかは、今日の社
会学理論の貧困さの基礎の上では、開かれた問いであるといわなければならない。」
