A nominee for the Ford Frick Award on the fan ballot. A four-time recipient (1999, 2001, 2002, 2006) of the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Association Texas Sportscaster of the Year Award, and two-time winner of the Associated Press award for best play-by-play in Texas. Among his most memorable calls was the 5,000 th strikeout of Nolan Ryan’s career on August 22, 1989 . Victor Rojas is in his 5 th season as a member of the Texas Rangers radio broadcast team, providing both play-by-play as well as analysis. Rojas, 39, came to the Rangers from the Arizona Diamondbacks, where he spent the 2003 season doing radio play-by-play and analysis.
