Side Stand Removal System
ABSTRACT 
• In now a days two wheelers plays a important role in transport. Due to humans 
carelessness accidents happening. In that most important in due to forget to 
hold this side stand in two wheeler. 
• In earlier days buzzer method in used for remedy in this case and next gear 
pedal method. But two methods are not efficient. In now a days people are 
most of them want simple operation. 
• So we designed fully automatic self side stand method. It’s most efficient 
compared to other, While we switch on the bike. By self start method is used 
start this vehicle. By using this method we can relieve this side stand from it’s 
position easily.

The accidents from a vehicle can be done by two reasons mainly. First is due 
to others fault and second is our neglectancy. One of the most seen condition is to 
forget removing side stand. So in our project we are trying to give a mechanical 
arrangement which can remove the side stand at the start motion of the vehicle. It si 
desired to avoid the automatic arrangement because these systems have many king of 
disadvantages and dependencies. So the removal system will be a mechanical 
arrangement which will be simple in mechanism and would not interfere with ride and 
comfort.
• Our aim of prevent the two wheeler accident in our project. 
• Now a day people transport one place to another place using mostly two wheeler 
vehicle. 
• Same time late of accident in rods in human careless of side stand un hold . 
• For self transmission system it is sufficient to rotate at 1500 rpm. 
• So that high torque is required to start the self transmission system then lift the 
side stand. 
• We requirement this problem so solve in this our project.

• Engaged side stand can create accidental damage. 
• The electric based automatic side stand removal system has its dependencies on the 
power supply. 
• The electric based automatic system can be risky because the electronic devices has 
its limitation of moisture content.

• Vishal Srivastava, Tejasvi Gupta, Sourabh Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Javed Rafiq, Satish Kumar in his 
paper Automatic Side stand gives the anatomy of side stand that is a Side stand is a device on a bicycle or 
motorcycle that allows the bike to be kept upright without leaning against another object or the aid of a 
person. A "smaller, more convenient" kickstand was developed by Joseph Paul Treen, the father of former 
Louisiana Governor, Dave Treen. A kickstand is usually a piece of metal that flips down from the frame 
and makes contact with the ground. It is generally located in the middle of the bike or towards the rear. 
Some touring bikes have two: one at the rear, and a second in the front. A side stand style kickstand is a 
single leg that simply flips out to one side, usually the non-drive side, and the bike then leans against it. 
Side stands can be mounted to the chain stays right behind the bottom bracket or to a chain and seat stay 
near the rear hub. Side stands mounted right behind the bottom bracket can be bolted on, either clamping 
the chain stays or to the bracket between them, or welded into place as an integral part of the frame.

stand rod by the equal amount that is due to spring force. 
• The system should be related to the vehicle movement.

• The system is found to be applicable for two wheelers vehicle. 
• As this system works on the movement of the vehicle. It does not have any 
dependencies. 
• This system is purely mechanical arrangement so it has less damage factors that is 
the advantageous point.
CCoonncclluussiioonn 
• It is by an observation that the side stand removal by mechanical arrangement is 
much better than the electronic based automatic side stand. 
• The system is not dependent to the any factor like moisture and power supply. 
• The system can be maintained by a little maintenance.

  • 4. ABSTRACT • In now a days two wheelers plays a important role in transport. Due to humans carelessness accidents happening. In that most important in due to forget to hold this side stand in two wheeler. • In earlier days buzzer method in used for remedy in this case and next gear pedal method. But two methods are not efficient. In now a days people are most of them want simple operation. • So we designed fully automatic self side stand method. It’s most efficient compared to other, While we switch on the bike. By self start method is used start this vehicle. By using this method we can relieve this side stand from it’s position easily.

  • 6. IInnttrroodduuccttiioonn The accidents from a vehicle can be done by two reasons mainly. First is due to others fault and second is our neglectancy. One of the most seen condition is to forget removing side stand. So in our project we are trying to give a mechanical arrangement which can remove the side stand at the start motion of the vehicle. It si desired to avoid the automatic arrangement because these systems have many king of disadvantages and dependencies. So the removal system will be a mechanical arrangement which will be simple in mechanism and would not interfere with ride and comfort.
  • 7. • Our aim of prevent the two wheeler accident in our project. • Now a day people transport one place to another place using mostly two wheeler vehicle. • Same time late of accident in rods in human careless of side stand un hold . • For self transmission system it is sufficient to rotate at 1500 rpm. • So that high torque is required to start the self transmission system then lift the side stand. • We requirement this problem so solve in this our project.

PPrroobblleemm IIddeennttiiffiiccaattiioonn • Engaged side stand can create accidental damage. • The electric based automatic side stand removal system has its dependencies on the power supply. • The electric based automatic system can be risky because the electronic devices has its limitation of moisture content.

LLiitteerraattuurree RReevviieeww • Vishal Srivastava, Tejasvi Gupta, Sourabh Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Javed Rafiq, Satish Kumar in his paper Automatic Side stand gives the anatomy of side stand that is a Side stand is a device on a bicycle or motorcycle that allows the bike to be kept upright without leaning against another object or the aid of a person. A "smaller, more convenient" kickstand was developed by Joseph Paul Treen, the father of former Louisiana Governor, Dave Treen. A kickstand is usually a piece of metal that flips down from the frame and makes contact with the ground. It is generally located in the middle of the bike or towards the rear. Some touring bikes have two: one at the rear, and a second in the front. A side stand style kickstand is a single leg that simply flips out to one side, usually the non-drive side, and the bike then leans against it. Side stands can be mounted to the chain stays right behind the bottom bracket or to a chain and seat stay near the rear hub. Side stands mounted right behind the bottom bracket can be bolted on, either clamping the chain stays or to the bracket between them, or welded into place as an integral part of the frame.

  • 17. MMeetthhooddoollooggyy • The side stand removal requires a system that can provide the torque force on the stand rod by the equal amount that is due to spring force. • The system should be related to the vehicle movement.

CCaallccuullaattiioonn aanndd AAnnaallyyssiiss Wire diameter = 3 mm = 0.003 m Coil outer diameter (d) = 27 mm = 0.027m Coil inner diameter = 21mm = 0.021m No. of coils (n) = 17 Free length of spring (L) = ߨdN 3.14x0.027x17=1.44126 m Span weight = 0.056+0.400 kg = 0.456 kg F = K × X F = 1.732x1.21536 F = 2.105 N

TORQUE – T = FXR T =2.105X0.11 T =0.2315 N-m Torque due to stand weight Stand weight = 400 gm Spring weight = 56 gm Combined weight of spring and stand = 400+56 gm = 0.456 kg Force due to stand weight = mg sin θ = 0.456x9.81xsin500 = 3.4267 N Torque due to stand weight = F x R = 3.4267x0.11 = 0.3769471 Total torque (Ta) = 0.2315+0.376947 = 0.6087 N-m
  • 22. EExxppeecctteedd RReessuullttss aanndd DDiissccuussssiioonn • The system is found to be applicable for two wheelers vehicle. • As this system works on the movement of the vehicle. It does not have any dependencies. • This system is purely mechanical arrangement so it has less damage factors that is the advantageous point.
  • 23. CCoonncclluussiioonn • It is by an observation that the side stand removal by mechanical arrangement is much better than the electronic based automatic side stand. • The system is not dependent to the any factor like moisture and power supply. • The system can be maintained by a little maintenance.
