51. Simba Education creates access to quality early
childhood education for children living in urban slums,
using a holistic curriculum that caters for each stage of
development, accompanied by a learning management
to track the progress of every child. The curriculum is
designed to use materials that can be found in a slum
environment and is housed on a low-cost mobile device.
Simba combines entrepreneurship and education to form
our community of Edupreneurs. These edupreneurs will
distribute Simba’s curriculum, bringing education as
close to the students as possible. Simba’s low cost
model was designing specifically to provide education
that is affordable to the world’s poorest populations.
At aged 3, he had been adopted from an urban slum in Zimbabwe. Speaking just a few words, his first 1000 days in dire poverty with no mental stimulation created a significant learning gap and today over 100 million children living in urban slums will suffer the same plight. Realizing the impact of 1000 days instilled in us, the passion to take on the challenge of the century, creating access to quality education for children living in urban slums. [That’s Simba]

By bringing together entrepreneurship and education, we are creating our community of edupreneurs Leveraging high mobile penetration rates in urban slums Simba system will be on the housed on the edupreneur’s mobile device. Simba has partnered with a mobile operator to ensure the ease of distribution of the Simba system through mobile technology.
Over half of the world and we have identified this as a potential distribution channel. Our entrepreneur will be an unemployed young women with a higher-level diploma searching for an opportunity to earn an income in a depressed job market. These individuals will be recruited, trained and equipped with the tools required to continuing Simba’s journey to educating 10 million children.
