American Cancer Society Partners with Fashion Industry for Inaugural Cure by Design

December 7 event will feature local cancer survivors modeling apparel from top national,
local designers and retailers.
WHO: American Cancer Society with the fashion, design, and retail community of
Charleston
WHAT: Cure By Design Charleston event to raise funds for the fight against cancer. The
focus of this special evening is a fashion show that spotlights designer fashions and, more
importantly, nearly 40 local cancer survivors − including men, women and children −
modeling them. The survivor models demonstrate the progress being made in the fight
against cancer and portray a message of hope for a cure.
DESIGNERS: Cure By Design; Rafael Cox, Rafael Cox Designs, Atlanta-Project
Runway Season 9; Gordana Gehlhausen, Goga, NYC-Project Runway Season 6/Project
Runway All-stars; Luis Machicao, Machicao Couture, Charlotte, N.C., recent winner of
the best designer award at Paris Fashion Week; and many local favorites
EVENT INFORMATION: Individual tickets are $175 with limited corporate tables
available for $2,500. Event includes cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres, fashion show, live
and silent auction and entertainment.
